- 0:00so I've been thinking more about Star Wars oh we're doing this again main Last
- 0:04Shadow okay Y and I want to know so they jump into hyperspace the chips follow
- 0:09them yes and they all freak out and go the only possible explanation for this
- 0:14is they can track us through hyperspace yes why is no one thinking that maybe
- 0:18there's a spy are we really call back we're here now we really going to talk
- 0:21about Star Wars is that what we're doing welcome to multiple
- 0:26nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and
- 0:31Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:36Things nerdy why is their first thought that
- 0:42there's something so unlikely that's impossible that's what's happening
- 0:47instead of someone probably just called ahead told them where we were they did
- 0:50show in Rogue one uh hyperspace tracking
- 0:56right yeah but that was no one years ago I feel this like the script for The Last
- 1:01Jedi has a couple of holes in it not not to hop on about
- 1:05it again I'm sorry that I I just got in my head I don't know why it's
- 1:11fine look I my mind was blown the other day I sent you this I I was sure right
- 1:17when I saw attack of the Clones that uh when Obi-Wan goes to Camino talks to the
- 1:24the you know the kamino ones yep about the cloning the very very people just
- 1:29dawned on me that there must be only one species on that planet cuz otherwise why
- 1:33would they name the planet after him yeah that's right that's that's how
- 1:36planets work or or species name the species after the planet rather like you
- 1:40have a planet of tusken rers we're earthlings you got a planet of Ewoks
- 1:44yeah that's suppose that's but I think uh I think other creatures would be
- 1:48considered earthlings too right oh maybe maybe there's other creatures on the C anyway I
- 1:53digress on that entirely water Planet
- 1:57yeah cuz that's how Styers works it's mind you though we we always point
- 2:03that but but I'll put it to you that most planets that we know about have a
- 2:09single terrain yeah Earth is pretty diverse if if you look at Earth from far
- 2:15enough away you'd assume it was only water two yeah probably true but in in
- 2:21Attack of the Clones they tell Oban that
- 2:26codus ordered the creation of the Clone Army and I took that from from when I
- 2:32saw it in the cinema up until two days
- 2:35ago I'm I'm sure it was heavily implied
- 2:40that that was just a stupid pseudonym for Darth cidus absolutely was it was
- 2:45just it was just them mispronouncing Darth cidus right either that or well
- 2:50yes mispronouncing or that was his [ __ ] genius
- 2:54pseudonym except apparently I learned the other day in the Clone Wars car
- 2:59cartoon there is a character called codus who was a Jedi who thought there
- 3:06was going to be a war so he ordered the Clone Army and then I was like the [ __ ]
- 3:10no that's that that kind of goes against the plot of the film the whole thing
- 3:16makes no sense mind you that that's as dumb as them suddenly deciding that
- 3:21Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father even though there were conversations
- 3:25about them being two different men that we'd already heard a new hope so should
- 3:32really be surprised but no even going off this whole story line why would a
- 3:36Jedi that are so good decide to go with a Criminal as the person they're going
- 3:40to create this Army after well maybe he didn't pick D
- 3:46Jango maybe maybe he just employed the long neck people and they were like oh
- 3:51we'll just we'll see we can get then it just doesn't make it it's
- 3:56just and worse than that the the the Reon right is that apparently in in one of
- 4:02the drafts at one point point originally it was Psy Odus was the was the name
- 4:09which is clearly it was cious but then George Lucas made a typo
- 4:16and wrote cyoas and went oh I like that better and then changed it and then they
- 4:22realized that it was very unclear what was happening and uh and then there was
- 4:29kind of of it became unclear whether it was a separate person or it was if it was
- 4:35cious and then George just left it that way oh wait we're talking about movies
- 4:39that don't exist so let's just move on I know I don't want but my my point is
- 4:43simply that it seems really really stupid to start making fun of Star Wars
- 4:50movies uh we we could find faults in all movies yes Dave must die except plenty
- 4:56of faults in that except the original trilogy no fault there
- 5:05so how we been this week guys good the rain came and washed away all my
- 5:09snow so you don't have to pay a man to do it for you anymore is that some kind
- 5:13of uh like code have have operatives in
- 5:17the field just activated now no I was just disappointed cuz we had we had like
- 5:23so much snow I'm sure I sent you guys photos of of all the snow disappointed
- 5:2848 CM I believe that's yeah it was it was quite quite a lot of snow you were
- 5:32complaining last week about it because that's because I couldn't get out of my
- 5:36driveway I got that sorted and then uh and then it looked really pretty around
- 5:40driving around but then it warmed up a little bit rained and now it's just all
- 5:45gone like it's just back to being you know winter with some no trees without
- 5:52foliage there's nothing nothing special this all it just turns into this awesome
- 5:57backyard that just backs onto a forest looks like a out of a picture maybe the
- 6:02deer will wander back in now yeah there is there have been some de there um it
- 6:07does look like the uh the setting for the Evil Dead remake in my backyard I
- 6:14will say that oh yeah yeah you mean the the Remake that we will do get out of
- 6:19[Laughter] there it's a great movie really is oh
- 6:25speaking of stars let's get this out of the way I just saw this this week and it
- 6:29reminded me that this this had been a thing for a little while do you remember
- 6:34there was briefly something called Star
- 6:36Wars detours made by um Seth Green the and the Robot Chicken people I I
- 6:42remember it was announced there were trailers for it then nothing else
- 6:46because as soon as Disney bought Star Wars they canceled it apparently
- 6:50immediately because because it looked [ __ ] awful but no this was even
- 6:55before Disney purchased it wasn't it uh my understanding based on this little
- 7:02article that just mentioned it the other day cuz I was like oh yeah that was a
- 7:05thing said that once the purchase was finalized the project was thrown out the
- 7:10window I wonder how far along they were in the project well they had
- 7:15trailers those trailers were out for a while now right yeah those trailers came
- 7:20out well before the purchase so I think they might have been early trailers but
- 7:24it actually looked like the trailers were pretty much like the show like it was ready
- 7:31well somebody in the comments on this article has said you never saw a whole
- 7:35episode I did 39 of them Matt Seth and Todd's work was
- 7:40brilliant so they exist they
- 7:45made presumably 39 episodes of this thing and then Disney canand so just
- 7:49release it a lot of [ __ ] episodes It's probably it was probably
- 7:54too crude and you know Robot Chicken style for uh Disney I don't know I
- 8:00thought it looked garbage based on the trailer yeah but I [ __ ] hate robot
- 8:04chick I think robot chicken's garbage yeah well if I remember the trailers
- 8:09correctly it was just Robot Chicken yeah I'm pretty sure like same voices same
- 8:14humor yeah yes it was you know what I don't think they've scrapped it entirely
- 8:19I just think maybe it was a little too similar to the Han Solo Standalone film
- 8:26uh which apparently they're debating whether not to release at this point
- 8:32what [ __ ]
- 8:34hell Star Wars really yeah that's what I
- 8:40hear no more Star Wars come on yeah but still honestly if you debating it just
- 8:46take another year and do it again well that's what they're doing I mean they're
- 8:50basically ring the whole thing yeah there's more reot more
- 8:55re-shoot at at the start of February apparently which is not unusual they did
- 8:59for I'm going to go out there and say I'm okay if we have a year without a Star Wars
- 9:05movie I've had more than a year before remember when Star Wars was
- 9:13special [ __ ] hell remember when old men didn't have podcasts where they just
- 9:17cry about kids shows that they liked when they were kids they don't like
- 9:21anymore I know that's all we that's what we've become they was
- 9:27right this was a this is always gonna just spiral into us he [ __ ] remember
- 9:33when Star Wars was good begin of old men oh where we going
- 9:39we're going Ridley Scott we're going Stanley we've got so many old men to talk about
- 9:44today I don't like the stanlee
- 9:47one I okay Stanley is uh is the latest
- 9:53he probably isn't the latest it's been been a day or two so probably been
- 9:57more definitely some since yesterday yeah [ __ ] hell he's one of the most
- 10:03recent I guess maybe that's not even accurate anymore he has been accused of
- 10:07sexual assault that's let's start with that yeah um now this is a man in his
- 10:1290s and this is not back in the day this is not someone dredging up some old
- 10:17horror story from the past this is the women who currently work for him telling
- 10:22the press that he is constantly trying to coers sexual favors from
- 10:28them well well now to be fair this is a source has
- 10:34said this um his people have said there is no there's been no uh word to them
- 10:40about it no everyone's people said that no one's suing him no one has has raised
- 10:46any legal issues this is just somebody has gone to the press to say this and
- 10:52they they're saying it's not true so bearing that in mind yeah apparently
- 10:56he's a dirty old man allegedly yeah which wouldn't surprise me because this
- 11:01is a thing that old men do apparently some people have said yeah
- 11:07people older people once they uh kind of degrade a bit they their filter tends to
- 11:14dissolve and unfortunately old men do this so maybe it's true maybe it is
- 11:19maybe it's not maybe that's a gross generalization who knows I'm not an old
- 11:24man yeah I am an old man it will be interesting to see I mean maybe this is
- 11:29just one of the ones that'll go away uh if it sticks around though I'm sure
- 11:33Disney are going to probably put a cap on him starring in any more of their
- 11:36films and Cameo rolls yeah yeah
- 11:43definitely
- 11:47man come on Stan he was so nice when I met him he didn't try to molest me at
- 11:52all that makes he's also death yeah he didn't hear you going you
- 11:58can molest God you're allowed to touch
- 12:02me so you don't have to hear
- 12:07molest I'm told Jesus um his current carers have said he
- 12:13is polite kind and respectful so be clear about that mhm so maybe this is
- 12:18just like Elijah douch you you read hers today no this doesn't have to go on the
- 12:23podcast if this is too heavy but Elijah came out today she posted a message on Facebook um
- 12:29saying she was raped by the stunt coordinator on True Lies when she was
- 12:3512 Jesus oh God yeah [ __ ]
- 12:40hell Hollywood is just a [ __ ] [ __ ] hole it's a [ __ ] Cesspool
- 12:46man Jesus I'm happy though that something's finally happening about it
- 12:51though cuz it's not something I can do anything to stop I know is anything happening or
- 12:56is yeah Luke cannot control Behavior yeah I mean where you going with this
- 13:02Luke no well cuz it's always been insinuated that all this stuff does
- 13:07happen behind closed doors but yeah I'm not in a position to do anything about
- 13:11it I'm not there it's I feel like maybe maybe I guess we're like I feel there's
- 13:18a [ __ ] crimes coming out of this but we've we've been just through like
- 13:25interest and and you know like we've done film kind of stuff I feel like
- 13:29we're like a little closer to it than normal people are like not normal people
- 13:33what have you been doing no no what I'm saying is we have known that stuff like
- 13:37this goes on God look this is just what the terrorists want we're all accusing
- 13:40each other this is like that episode of Peep Show where they keep trying to sanction
- 13:44everybody but has your average man on the street or woman known that this
- 13:51stuff goes on in Hollywood or definitely
- 13:54like so I just how is this rumors like I just finished playing LA Noir there's a
- 14:01whole EP crime about that and it's just all turned the other way and let it go
- 14:06okay well I'm glad something's being done about it then as well I just it
- 14:10just seems so weird to me that that why didn't it happen before why
- 14:14didn't anyone give a [ __ ] before because it was uh women have more
- 14:21rights now and back when this all started women had no rights it just keep
- 14:26your mouth shut if you want to work and then that sort of mentality is sort of
- 14:30stuck within the industry where I mean of course in that yes you're right not
- 14:34as in of course they had no rights just need shut up man I know it's
- 14:402 early in the morning [ __ ] me and then but now we're at the stage where finally
- 14:44people coming out and it's it's a shame that it's had to wait this long for
- 14:48people to be able to come out and say how terrible it is and stand up for it
- 14:52stand up for themselves but I'm happy it's finally happening and and I hate
- 14:56that I'm actually surprised at times how bad it
- 15:00is it's like [ __ ] hell but I I find it funny I don't know
- 15:05if you guys do this um but but I certainly I've never done that
- 15:11never on a subconscious level when I
- 15:15hear about these kind of sexual
- 15:19assaults by men I don't like I immediately jump on the bandwagon and
- 15:25yeah yeah and when I when I hear about it about that I do like or admire I'm
- 15:30like no oh have we heard their side of the story but it's just exactly what
- 15:35just happened with stad Lee right where we were I hope it's not true Stan's a
- 15:41nice guy and then that's exactly what we just did yeah well I did that because I
- 15:45I had read about it and there was very little evidence of it and it wasn't even
- 15:50the people involved that were accusing him it was it was some anonymous source
- 15:54that was accusing him so I mean that's it's not like it's not the same as you
- 15:58know like duu or Rose mcau or somebody getting up and saying this happened to
- 16:02me this is potentially just someone trying to [ __ ] around and like not
- 16:07saying it is it's just it's you know yeah but imag holds a lot less weight in
- 16:12my book when think what D was saying it depends on who's being accused as to how
- 16:18you react I if it's someone you I do agree a little bit but I'm just saying
- 16:22it that's not all it was in this case it wasn't just that I like Stan Lee it was
- 16:26just that it was also it was just some anonymous nobody accusing him you know
- 16:31in fact he's a 95y old scile potentially man I'm more likely to believe stanlee
- 16:38did it than say George Lucas whoa whoa whoa whoa what are you
- 16:44bringing George luas saying God you heard it I'm using George
- 16:50Lucas as an example of someone that I don't think look just because George
- 16:54raped our childhood doesn't mean he's broken any laws
- 16:59no I'm using it as an example of someone I don't think if you told if you told me George
- 17:04Lucas you know raped somebody I would have a hard time believing that at first
- 17:09just because I don't I he just does not seem like an alpha male woman he
- 17:16wants yeah you got to remember at the end of the day it's not what we think or
- 17:20feel it's about what actually happened no no it's not our feeling of someone
- 17:26that we a couple of as a sort of kind of bet ones doesn't really lead to a long
- 17:32life like a real understanding of who they are in real life I mean I I'm more
- 17:37mean like when I heard that James Franco was on that list and I don't
- 17:41particularly like James Franco but I mean I think he's he's he's you know a
- 17:44perfectly fine actor but yeah I think there's just something in my brain that
- 17:49immediately said he wouldn't have to molest anybody would he he's a
- 17:53good-looking boy you know like my there's just a gap in my understanding
- 17:57of how it gets to you're James Franco you're a pretty cool guy and now you're
- 18:01molesting someone well remember James Franco a few years ago there was that
- 18:05thing where he was trying to get a 16-year-old to come up to his bedroom
- 18:08like his apartment yes uh and then that
- 18:12just went away she was 17 so it's h Matt knows an awful lot about this no because
- 18:18I read an article about the James Franco one because uh because I was interested
- 18:23in a 17-year- old no just because I like I enjoy Disaster Artist and then all this
- 18:29happened and he want a Golden Globe and then all this happened and it's like oh
- 18:31man like I'm talking about years ago no no no I know I know what it's a it's
- 18:37because a girl he was dating uh came out the other day and said that he when they
- 18:43were dating um she was actually studying at his school and there was like a you
- 18:48know like a power imbalance in the relationship because she kind of relied on
- 18:51him like she was she wanted to make it in Hollywood and he kind
- 18:56of had the power to make a break that and so she felt that he behaved in a way
- 19:02that was inappropriate because of that you know uh I think we're talk about a
- 19:06different girl I'm talking about one that he met on Instagram I'm still
- 19:09talking about that as well okay this was when that happened he was dating this
- 19:15girl and it was a friend of hers like a a he
- 19:20was uh he said that on Instagram he said should I get a hotel or whatever and um
- 19:27his I think his implication is that it was just a joke and that he knew her
- 19:31through his girlfriend or something like that but yes that did happen publicly
- 19:35which is kind of stupid can I ask there's one thing that
- 19:40I didn't quite get because I read these articles too at what point in his career did
- 19:47James Franco teach a drama
- 19:51class um what I don't know the the dates exactly but they students of his at at
- 19:57at his school yeah and apparently I think of Hollywood acting schools I think of like
- 20:03people that couldn't become actors trying to make a bit of cash by teaching
- 20:07a class in a Scouts hall or something this was apparently a way of him getting
- 20:14people to be in because you know he made he's made a ton of Art House films and
- 20:17apparently the the kind of the deal is you come you learn from him and then he
- 20:22kind of draws from that pool of people to be in his his Art House films but now
- 20:27some of the the is saying the attractive girls mostly just got offered Parts in
- 20:32like nude scenes or apparently there was one or they got off at his
- 20:38part right and they weren't paid very much and uh yeah
- 20:44so if true that is
- 20:50it yes um theam sticking sticking on
- 20:56movies I've just read one title 12 fans man SN cut before we go on before we go
- 21:01on hold on hold on I just want to I I I just want to say one more thing in
- 21:06closing of the Hollywood argument and that's that this is not new something
- 21:10like seven underage girls accused Charlie Chaplain of statutory rape so
- 21:15hasn't exactly come out of nowhere no Roman palansky uh we've been hearing
- 21:19stuff about various people off and on over the years I think Roman pansy never
- 21:23even denied it he just said he shouldn't go to jail for it right he was like yeah
- 21:28I drugged and sodomized that 14-year-old in Jack Nicholson's pool but it's not a
- 21:33crime her mom said it was okay you know what I read the other day and this I
- 21:37mean is a no way defensive from palansky I'm just saying this is the reason that
- 21:42he's not being extradited from France do you know why why because no because
- 21:47California has the death penalty and and France uh when they drew up the
- 21:52extradition agreement with America France said they don't have the death
- 21:57penalty anymore they will never ever extradite a French citizen to a location
- 22:04with the death penalty on a a purely kind of moral basis like that that so
- 22:10even if the death penalty isn't on the cards for the trial doesn't matter
- 22:15doesn't matter doesn't matter they will not ex they will never never extradite a
- 22:19French citizen to a a country or state within a country that has the death
- 22:24penalty on principle so if they get rid of the death penalty they just sending
- 22:27him straight over well see that's the thing right probably not uh cuz at this
- 22:33point it's it's kind of people are saying they wouldn't anyway because
- 22:37they're yeah I don't know that's don't know but apparently that is the actual
- 22:41legal reason why they have not done it it's not because they think Roman
- 22:45palansky is a nice guy I just assumed it was because the
- 22:50French loved Art House Cinema yeah I I actually I think that's what a lot of
- 22:54people think and that's why when I read it I was like oh that's interesting it's
- 22:57there is actually no there there's a the a very legitimate reason for and then if
- 23:01if they would have moved the trial to say New Mexico or something like that uh
- 23:05they might they might send him over for it but uh yeah just because it's California
- 23:11no apparently that's the reason I got a shock that California's got the death
- 23:17penalty oh lot of lot of States here still do oh yeah just would see that
- 23:22picture California is having I mean you assume Texas still does right yeah but
- 23:27California seems pretty LAX there yeah I mean seems like you can do whatever the
- 23:33[ __ ] you want in California look at
- 23:38Hollywood yeah but people are still they had well they had until recently they had Charles
- 23:43Manson shops and buying pot in California yep
- 23:49yeah how was the California weed Luke H I don't care for
- 23:55weed I just don't just B because you can
- 23:59yeah see if it help with pain no I
- 24:04never but I think I need I will try to get an exom over there but I might just
- 24:09try and research the type of strain that I try cuz I don't want something that's
- 24:14going to mess with my head yeah that's the thing I don't I like I'm I'm I'm I
- 24:19don't like it when I'm not thinking correctly you know that's why I I'm not
- 24:24doing it you evidently you can get like a body heart and a head high and that's
- 24:29what I want like the body to sort of relax not my head cuz the spot I smoked
- 24:33when I was there I just couldn't focus and I did not you should stop taking it
- 24:37through your head I think you need a a suppository
- 24:42ah a butt bong I think that's
- 24:47called is that the name of this
- 24:51podcast maybe not
- 24:56dick um speaking of James Franco H you saw a James Franco film this week
- 25:01I think I did I saw a very good James Franco film this week um called The
- 25:06Disaster Artist MH uh and man I I I mean they practically did but as soon as this
- 25:13film finished all I wanted to do was go back and watch the room I'm sure you
- 25:15were the same yeah it reminded me why I love the room and and I haven't read the
- 25:21book that this is based on the Memoirs of uh Greg cero but if if this is even
- 25:26close to what happened then I'm thrilled that they've made this movie Dan read
- 25:31the book honestly because the film while
- 25:35good out of necessity leaves out quite a
- 25:39lot that is [ __ ] fantastic sure it's one of the primary complaints of the
- 25:44film is that it doesn't even make Tommy wzo look weird enough yeah that's what H
- 25:49was saying because she's read the book and she she said that they're being very
- 25:52kind to him yes yes like in fact there's in particular there's a scene where he
- 25:57just [ __ ] dumps Greg out in the desert and drives off and then comes
- 26:01back and then someone was like even that one scene would just change the whole
- 26:05tone of the film like they went to a lot of effort to make him at least a little
- 26:09bit likable H mind you here's my question because a lot of things in the
- 26:14film qu was pointing out oh Greg wasn't really on board for that he'd already
- 26:19kind of gone suspicious but then to me
- 26:22that sounds like cero maybe just kind of
- 26:26having hindsight and painting himself into the narrative a little bit more uh
- 26:32Kinder than he would have like I I think at at a certain point he he must have
- 26:38thought that Tommy was always a cool guy to have gotten involved in all this [ __ ]
- 26:44he I think he found him very interesting at the start because that that story
- 26:47about him being at the acting school and then Tommy doing the
- 26:52Stella yeah performance is true and he
- 26:55he did admire his lack of fear and
- 27:00embarrassment and he wanted to to learn that kind of thing well did and then as
- 27:05it went on uh cuz he didn't want to do the film at all he didn't want to do the
- 27:08room and he he he said no and then it wasn't until actually the only reason he
- 27:13did it is because Tommy offered to buy him a new car like an expensive car if
- 27:17he played Mark and then there was actually already someone else had been
- 27:20cast as Mark and that's one of the funniest things in the book is over the
- 27:25first week of shooting he told the crew that Mar that Greg um had to do a show
- 27:31re for a TV commercial so he would they would film each scene with Mark in it
- 27:36twice once with the actor that he had hired to playm Mark and then once with
- 27:41Greg but then he told the crew don't film the other guy only film Greg like
- 27:48we're just going to pretend that's what I mean you got to read the book it's
- 27:50like it's [ __ ] ridiculous man where did this guy get
- 27:54his money that's what I want to know uh that is sort of unclear but it is kind
- 28:00of uh Greg makes guesses about it um and
- 28:04the theory is that he he's he was born in Poland he moved around he ended up in
- 28:11America because he he just loved the idea of America and when he got to San
- 28:15Francisco he got in early enough that he made money selling um selling souvenirs
- 28:22down on the at San Francisco you know down at the uh you know where I mean
- 28:25Fisherman's Warf yeah we've been that down yeah yeah he um he made money
- 28:30selling souvenirs and stuff down there enough to buy some real estate in what
- 28:35is now very expensive area of San Francisco and he rents out the building
- 28:39that's apparently that's his
- 28:45theory well he's certainly an interesting person have you seen that
- 28:49second film that they made together I think it's best friends besties yeah
- 28:54besties or whatever it is yeah I definitely want to see it I wish there
- 28:57was some way we could all see it together we could watch it on Skype
- 29:03somehow just watch it at the same time have you seen the room Luke you did you
- 29:07come with us no I still haven't seen it yet I think Luke if you watch The
- 29:12Disaster Artist you might be compelled to go and see the
- 29:17room just to just to check how bad it is yeah that's right I've seen bits and
- 29:23pieces I know how bad it is and I just yeah just have not g around to it so
- 29:29good it's kind of a perfect storm of bad yeah it is because like some of the
- 29:34other two so bad that they're good films that I've watched are not actually good
- 29:39you know and I'll controversially say even plan n from out of space like it's
- 29:45really hard to watch that movie it's just [ __ ] yeah but the room the room I
- 29:51can watch over and over yeah it's just so funny it's like it it
- 29:57knows it's bad but then it gives you gratuitous sex scenes that go on and
- 30:03on yeah flat twists that go nowhere oh
- 30:08yeah I definitely have breast cancer just never comes up again yeah the test
- 30:15results are back all right so weird did you did you watch the the
- 30:22scene after the credits you know what I didn't realize there was one and then I
- 30:26read about it online and so I up on it so yes I absolutely did so good it was
- 30:31supposed to be in the film but then um they felt that it interrupted the the
- 30:37kind of the film because everybody would just would just focus on that so yeah
- 30:42sure so funny yeah well you w a Best Director Golden Globe for it yeah which
- 30:47is kind of ironic right yes and did you see Tommy went to grab the microphone
- 30:54yeah yeah I saw that and I found that amusing just yeah no you're not touching
- 30:59that oh I want to know what he would have said oh some word
- 31:04salad yeah he's a funny guy we're uh hopefully
- 31:10going to see a screening of the room with Tommy and Greg in London at the
- 31:16Fantastic so we'll see hopefully maybe I can get uh get a quote from him for on
- 31:21the show imagine
- 31:25that I watched a film this week I watched two films two films both
- 31:32starring Luke's favorite actor Dwayne
- 31:35The Rock Johnson M he is very good I got to say he is he's a great actor he's
- 31:41[ __ ] Flawless yeah he he is then he's really good like he's he's Charming he's
- 31:48like he's solid he's not gonna you know he's not a dramatic actor but he's solid
- 31:52like sure yeah I mean you know he doesn't do a bad performance yeah and he
- 31:58he he doesn't do films where you could really say oh he didn't sell me on the
- 32:02you know the the emotional depth of his character yeah he knows his limits
- 32:07exactly so I watched Baywatch which I
- 32:12watched it before Luke did so so Luke you still haven't seen this I've seen it
- 32:17no I've seen it I saw a few weeks ago
- 32:20yeah what did you think of it it's it's nothing to do with Baywatch it well it
- 32:27is and it isn't it's a parody of Baywatch almost yeah that's yeah that's best way
- 32:33to describe oh it is it's a lot of dick jokes yeah a a lot of dick jokes and
- 32:39it's just completely over the top and it's just it's a fun movie it was
- 32:43[ __ ] awesome man I I laughed my ass off I I I I don't understand why people
- 32:50were so hard on it because unless they were just expecting it to be something
- 32:53else because I thought it was really funny yeah I think people were expecting
- 32:58something completely different defitely not what we got they constantly point
- 33:02out the Ridiculousness of the fact that lifeguards are like solving
- 33:07crimes like people wait is that what bayat is about lifeguards that solve
- 33:12crimes well yeah yeah I don't think I've ever seen bayat I'll be completely
- 33:16honest like the rock plays Mitch the same character as David Hasselhoff from
- 33:22the show right and he constantly refers to himself as lieutenant and he he shows
- 33:27up at a party with like a shirt with like uh you know like little pins on it
- 33:32like P rank pins and he like pulls tries to pull rank with a police officer at
- 33:36one point and the police officer's like you're a lifeguard like when you chase a criminal
- 33:42it's just a guy chasing another
- 33:46guy it's really funny and then yeah even Um Zack Efron shows up and uh and then
- 33:53they're going through they're like all right so there's people trying to
- 33:56smuggle diamonds uh up onto the beach in their surfboards what are you going to
- 33:59do and he's like I don't know call the police like's like no you're not getting
- 34:04it someone's going to protect the beach yeah I really I liked it and then
- 34:10there's a scene where uh they break into a morg to examine a dead body and he
- 34:15makes him check he goes you have to check his taint for needle marks so they
- 34:20can figure out how he died and it's hilarious
- 34:26yeah it's uh yeah yeah watch it Dan it's funny yeah yeah well I mean you were
- 34:32right about Zoolander too so mhm is better than zand it's very crude it's
- 34:39very ridiculous uh and it's definitely not a uh I guess what you call you know
- 34:46it's not a loving remake of Baywatch that people who love the show are going
- 34:50to watch and be like oh are they really captur the essence of the show it's not
- 34:53that at all it's just a [ __ ] like the
- 34:57top kind of comedy action film okay well I mean got a lot of over the top comedy
- 35:03action films are you know they're my jams so a scene where one of the new recruits
- 35:08gets his dick caught in a deck chair because he's choking on food and CJ one
- 35:13of the girls uh who all they wear you know very revealing bikinis which makes
- 35:18no sense and they make they address that at one point she goes what uh why do the
- 35:23swimsuits ride so high up our butts and then one of them goes oh it helps us
- 35:26swim faster they go oh
- 35:30okay um he's choking and then she runs up and gives him the highl maneuver so
- 35:35he gets an erection and Dives onto a deck chair to hide it and then gets his
- 35:39dick stuck and then that's that wonderful scene where the rock is like
- 35:42don't worry mate it's happened to me too I was once stuck inside of a woman for
- 35:46[Laughter] days yeah wow
- 35:53okay the rock swear as much oh and Andreas also thumbs up it's
- 35:59also starring The Rock it's dumb uh but it's great yeah that I haven't seen yet
- 36:06now is San Andreas from the makers of geostorm because they sound pretty
- 36:10similar I thought it was the same director it's not I think it's just the
- 36:14same producer because I'm sure I've I I saw from the something of San Andreas
- 36:19when I saw trailers for geostorm not the same director right but
- 36:24uh but San Andreas Stars what's that guy guy from um he's nor he's a character
- 36:30actor kind of he was in
- 36:34Warren he was rhino in the The Amazing
- 36:38Spider-Man 2 that [ __ ] terrible movie oh um you know what's his name the bald
- 36:45guy and he sometimes has a beard right yeah what's his name what kind of think
- 36:49of his name [ __ ] this is not yeah I know I'm gonna kick myself when I when I see
- 36:53it Paul jimarti Paul jarti yeah Paul
- 36:59J yeah he stars as scienceman who uh who
- 37:05discovers that they can predict earthquakes just before earthquakes
- 37:09happen uh and when they tested out his his friend Asian science man gets killed
- 37:15in in an earthquake that destroys the huam um and then they discover that the
- 37:20uh San Andreas fault is is about to go
- 37:24off with a 9.8 or something on the rck it's like the the worst ever and then it
- 37:30destroys Los Angeles and San Francisco and just everything and then um the rock
- 37:37is a is a rescue helicopter pilot who just [ __ ] abandons his job to save
- 37:41his wife and child and presumably lets a
- 37:44bunch of other people die but uh yeah
- 37:48and it's got [ __ ] he flying a helicopter as buildings are collapsing
- 37:54and Jenna's like just [ __ ] fly up like what are you trying to fly under them
- 38:01for uh and then uh yeah there's a [ __ ] tsunami in it and it's
- 38:08great yeah sounds good you guys just working through all of the disaster
- 38:13movies yeah Disaster Artist San Andreas geostorm I don't know
- 38:19what's next we'll see you can see in San Andreas 2 soon [ __ ] yeah has a rock in
- 38:24it um I don't know but I just saw that now making a sequel The Rock's really
- 38:30good I'm actually I'm I'm I might be on board with you Luke I've been telling
- 38:34you very he's very fun to watch in movies I got to say like I think he's
- 38:41just gotten better with age he's very Charming like I don't know I like I like
- 38:47watching him do things in films I got to say you asked about the Justice League
- 38:53yeah I just saw the 12 fans are demanding the SN cup why are 12 are
- 38:58these 12 that's me being a bit factious if you click through the article no no
- 39:02well it's accurate in a way click through the article um people are
- 39:06demanding the Zack SNY version of Justice League because they think that
- 39:10that it got screwed up by Jos in the thing that doesn't exist yeah because he
- 39:15quit before any of that had been done but then they they kind of protested
- 39:19outside Warner Brothers headquarters and if you click through to that picture
- 39:22there in the tweet and have a look at the photo um that is you can that that's
- 39:29it that's the protest yeah and
- 39:32uh a yeah and then one of the the first reply
- 39:38in the in the thread on Twitter is go protest against the occupation of
- 39:43[Laughter] Palestine yeah but I love it says
- 39:49release the SN cut like there was a and they're just holding back on it no he
- 39:54didn't get to finish the movie he
- 39:58they severals with director yeah and the point
- 40:04is if the film had been very profitable there might be a reason for them to pay
- 40:11to make one like to get him back in to finish it his way or do whatever but the
- 40:15film was a flop so it's very unlikely that this is going to happen unless they
- 40:21think they can sell more copies of it you know but that that's nothing they'd
- 40:26have to go back and film and they're not going to do that well
- 40:30either that or he would have to he'd have to just construct it from what what
- 40:34he's got no I reckon they should release his cut just up to where he filled yeah
- 40:40and everyone can be like oh why isn't it uh why isn't it
- 40:44complete this is my cut this is all I
- 40:50did it's a bad movie have they given up
- 40:54yet DC well they DC I guess not no I mean Wonder Woman
- 41:00Wonder Woman was very successful well have you seen that
- 41:05because of that we're getting a black widow movie maybe yeah I did see that
- 41:10and to me I cuz they're going to write the script and see what they think and
- 41:14I'm thought that would be the worst character to make a movie of I know not
- 41:19not because not because she's a woman just because she's not interesting I'm
- 41:22stay stay I'm staying right out of it she's a great bit play but why not bring
- 41:27in I don't know M Marvel I guess it depends on what your G right if you're
- 41:32looking at as far as like superheroes go she's not female she's not like a great
- 41:37superhero cuz they are making a m Marvel movie right with um Brie lson uh and
- 41:44I'll watch that that'll be [ __ ] awesome um there we go but uh I I know
- 41:49yeah I agree I think Black Widow no but now you now that I'm
- 41:52talking about it right her as a if it was like an Espionage film where as a
- 41:56spy right cuz she's not a superhero as such she's just a normal human with
- 42:01who's a who's a good spy and a good fighter so if they just focus on that
- 42:04that could be good no screw I know who I want I want a She-Hulk
- 42:08movie sexy Hulk look here's the thing I exactly that's what I mean it's like the
- 42:14worst possible example it's like a giant green woman in like H any clothes like
- 42:20it's your example of a of equal [ __ ] representation I
- 42:26actually no I'm thinking um have like a m Marvel or She-Hulk and try and go for
- 42:31the younger with the whole Spider-Man stuff so you want a teen shehawk you
- 42:36want a sexy teen you're not doing yourself any sexy teen all right James
- 42:43Franco look here's here's anyone over Black Widow I I cringe every time Black
- 42:49Widow is on screen in any of the Avengers movies I I think she's awful um
- 42:53and I think that if Hollywood are going to start making more films with female
- 43:00Heroes and I hope they do then what they first have to do is start riding
- 43:04interesting female roles yeah because currently they don't not very of M
- 43:10Marvel could be very good so yes we'll see I mean uh Jos Sweden still talking
- 43:15about Batgirl yes that's good point that was sort of the deal he comes in finishes
- 43:21off and he gets his movie isn't it something like that cuz he's been
- 43:26trying to get back up for a while I like Batgirl and I think you could do a great
- 43:32Batgirl although that see that characters got like baggage too because
- 43:37of all the the dumb [ __ ] they did with her over the years with um we don't need
- 43:43to go into it people who are fans know what I'm talking about oh you talking
- 43:47about the killing joke I'm talking about the killing joke yes and and other stuff
- 43:51too the the female characters tend to get used as props and
- 43:55uh for for inappropriate things in comic book history so wow that's what used to
- 44:02sell Comics yeah yeah and now nothing sells
- 44:08[Laughter]
- 44:13Comics uh get in touch with this podcast at multip

- 44:55multipl nerdgasm did you guys uh did you guys hear about
- 45:01what happened in Hawaii yesterday I hadn't and then I saw this
- 45:06in here and I was like oh my God it's yeah so basically quite a mistake yeah
- 45:11if you lived in Hawaii and you have a mobile phone then you got an emergency
- 45:15alert yesterday morning that says ballistic missile threat inbound to
- 45:19Hawaii seek immediate shelter this is not a
- 45:25drill [ __ ] h 38 how do something minutes later they
- 45:31sent one saying actually that was a false alarm uh but for 38 minutes there
- 45:37was AB everyone thought they were going to die yeah I wonder if um like the plot
- 45:44of that movie with Christopher Walkin and Brendan Frasier there is now a
- 45:49family living in a in a bunker who don't know there wasn't a bomb yeah I like to
- 45:53think so exactly because they Dr Pepper in the microwave
- 45:57yeah cuz I'm actually honestly thinking like if I was to get that message take
- 46:02shelter there's nowhere I can take shelter that would I would survive a ballistic missile
- 46:09attack I would love I would love to build a [ __ ] fallout shelter in this
- 46:12house and maybe I will just for fun just to have one oh I'm going to see you on
- 46:17one of those shows aren't I those really sad shows where you've hoarded a whole
- 46:23bunch you'll it'll start as a joke Matt it'll start as a joke
- 46:30that guy on doomsday preppers who's like built this shelter and stuff and then
- 46:33he's built he's got a radio and he was like when there's a nuclear fallout or
- 46:38nuclear explosion is an EMP or he thinks it's going to be an EMP attack or
- 46:42something anyway he thinks it's going to knock out all the radios so he built a
- 46:45faraday cage around his radio and he's like so he's going to be the only person
- 46:49with a radio and then the the camera guy the camera goes camera guy goes who are
- 46:53you going to talk to and then his face [Laughter]
- 46:59his face when he realizes so
- 47:04sad
- 47:08yeah well thank God no he didn't get NED
- 47:13yeah yeah cuz did they say how the mistake happened or anything or no
- 47:20they're being very quiet about it I'm sure something will come out somebody
- 47:24will get fired oh yeah someone hit the wrong button
- 47:29actually yeah Hawaii governor told C CNN The False Alarm was caused by human
- 47:36error it was a mistake made during a standard procedure at the change over of
- 47:40a shift an employee hit the wrong button maybe they should make it a little more
- 47:45difficult yeah again maybe not yeah maybe you push a button and then it
- 47:49comes up with are you sure yes not are you sure there's a ballistic missile Bound for
- 47:55Hawaii yeah
- 47:59the fact that it says this is not a drill yeah have you heard that story about during
- 48:06um uh maybe I think during the Cold War
- 48:09there was a a case where the Russian equipment malfunctioned or something
- 48:16like that and they thought there was a nuke incoming from America I think I think
- 48:21you're describing the plot of Doctor Strange Love did did you see this in a black and
- 48:28white movie no this I know that this is a true story I just the details escaped
- 48:32me but the gist of it is and I'm sure it was Russia that they thought there was a
- 48:37a missile coming in and this guy was given the order to fire back and he he
- 48:43just couldn't do it and it turned out it wasn't true there wasn't a missile and
- 48:48and we narrowly escaped like a nuclear war because just because this guy was
- 48:52like I can't do it in Russian let's just get rid of them yeah they're
- 48:59not going to do that let me have one look they're doing all right I mean they
- 49:03the fact that neither one blew the other one up in the 70s and 80s is you know we
- 49:09we got out of that pretty well considering going to worry about North
- 49:13Korea's ones [ __ ] North Kore no North Korea won't use them and because they know
- 49:18that that'll be the end of North Korea they're
- 49:25insane well that's are well I don't know I don't know if they are actually now
- 49:30that I say that I think they just know they're onto a good thing and they need
- 49:33to keep it up as long as possible yeah I don't think any of them
- 49:37really think they're on a good thing well I think he he thinks it's
- 49:42pretty all right being him yeah but there's just one of
- 49:45them yeah the rest of them kind of want him to just get taken out and for it to
- 49:49not be their fault oh yeah we'll
- 49:55see complicated this is uh probably not our area of expertise on
- 50:02this show though well speaking if if I might segue into something else it's not
- 50:05our article of expertise article our area of expertise but something that we
- 50:09constantly talk about anyway there was a school in
- 50:12Wisconsin uh recently who set a homework
- 50:16assignment red letter media yes well they set a homework assignment for their
- 50:21students um to list uh three negative
- 50:27uh aspects of slavery and three positive aspects of slavery
- 50:34um and they are now being absolutely crucified for this who thought that was
- 50:40a good idea obviously [ __ ] H I love this too yeah
- 50:46did the students woman posted a picture of the assignment that she saw her son
- 50:51sitting there struggling and looking confused trying to come up with positives sleep
- 50:57yeah and apparently he'd come up with doing the chores or something like he'
- 51:02really tried to think about it but the school have come out and said the
- 51:06purpose of the assignment was not in any way to have students argue that any slavery is
- 51:11acceptable um good anyway the whole point was they thought the kids would know that they
- 51:18meant why did the people at the time think that it was okay to have slaves
- 51:23but uh that's not how they worded it well how are the kids going to
- 51:28understand that anyway I know like like why did they think it was okay because
- 51:33it had been okay for a long time yeah that's that was the world they lived in
- 51:38yeah yeah like I don't know kids can really understand
- 51:43that I struggle to understand some of this some of this stuff like how the
- 51:47[ __ ] was that okay for so long don't understand well mat Cotton's not going to pick
- 51:55itself I finished dark Matt oh did you [ __ ] me
- 52:01it's so good it's operating like but by
- 52:05the time you get to the end you're like wait
- 52:11what Y and that the ending is almost a little disappointing in that it opens up
- 52:17too much I know what you mean yeah yeah yeah yeah correct they I I don't feel
- 52:20they needed to go there I know the exact moment you're talking about um yeah but
- 52:26in in terms of a time travel story that doesn't break its own rules
- 52:33except for perhaps that one thing you
- 52:34mentioned just now uh it's pretty
- 52:40detailed right yeah yeah I [ __ ] love that guy who is like
- 52:46German um mads Mickelson I had to check to make sure
- 52:51they weren't related cuz he's he's very similar looking but he's great very cuz
- 52:55he's got that kind of squint thing going on yeah that guy's [ __ ] intense yeah
- 53:00yeah yeah it's a good show you should watch it Luke but Luke you know how in
- 53:04every time travel movie that they've ever done there's that Paradox of yes
- 53:10but if you go back in time to change something then there's no reason for you
- 53:14to go back in time to change correct then you fix the problem that made you
- 53:17go back in the first place and therefore you never went back so there you never
- 53:20and then you know time and space would explode it's Paradox right y this takes
- 53:25that into consideration so it like Back to the Future
- 53:32does no cuz back to the fure goes he goes and fixes things and then he's he's
- 53:37the same in the future like he didn't have a better upbringing because his
- 53:40parents were rich instead of poor right yeah this does things were changed and
- 53:47were always there like that there's no alternate timelines that people people
- 53:52think they're going to go back and change something and when they do
- 53:55it Circle yeah they caused this other thing to happen and it's like oh it's
- 54:01really well done yeah it really is oh like in red versus blue maybe yeah I
- 54:08don't know I don't know man in season three of red versus blue three seasons
- 54:13someone goes back in time to try oh they're up to season like 13 or
- 54:18something he goes back in time to try and stop himself being killed but then
- 54:22unfortunately everything he does leads to all the events that kill him yes yeah
- 54:26like that yes yeah which for somebody who's never if you've never seen that
- 54:29that makes those sentences make no sense because how do you go back in time
- 54:34to stop yourself being killed oh yeah that's a good point when you're already
- 54:38dead oh yeah well I guess somebody has already well see this is the thing right
- 54:43as soon as somebody invents time travel then there's people time traveling
- 54:47everywhere and that's how we know time travel will never ever be
- 54:52invented cu no one's come back F yeah
- 54:56because if at any point in the future at any point it gets invented people will
- 55:02be traveling to the past and we'd know about it because we would have seen them
- 55:06unless it's like Prim unless it's like in Star Trek where there's a agency that
- 55:11looks after the and they come back and try and stop all the um time temporal
- 55:17portal things I forget or if it's like in primer where you can only travel back
- 55:21to the point you turn the machine on yeah but if you haven't once you invent
- 55:25it then you can travel forward and backwards through the machines but the
- 55:29machines don't exist in the past so you can't go back to the
- 55:33past before the machines existed yes
- 55:41true [ __ ] that movie man yeah the only only barrier I think
- 55:47with dark is that it is a German language film um I watched it kind of
- 55:51dubbed but I mean that is distracting for a little bit but then I stopped
- 55:55noticing it but I think maybe some people might not like that you can
- 55:59always switch to the subtitle version if you prefer they have both no Luke
- 56:03doesn't want to read but no honestly it's it's such a visual storytelling
- 56:10anyway that I I actually think and I usually don't liked dubbed versions of
- 56:15things but I think the dubb version is better I I started watching the subtitle
- 56:18version for authenticity and realized that I was missing visual cues because I
- 56:22was reading the subtitles we we we left the the the dubbed version on because we were
- 56:29packing to move when we started watching it and then I just I kind of just
- 56:32stopped noticing it after a while like it just becomes oh that's just how they
- 56:36talk like yeah their their mouths don't quite match in this in this movie whatever in this
- 56:43show but yeah good performances good story yeah good
- 56:49mystery great story I'm interested to see because it
- 56:54got renewed for a second season except the ending makes me worry a little bit
- 56:58that I'm not going to like it as much because it does seem exact the tone of
- 57:02it changes quite a bit in the last it imp it implies things that may
- 57:08be you never know they might surprise us they might do something awesome with it
- 57:13or do something stupid and change the rules but that's the problem with a high
- 57:18concept TV show right is that once you've made a season of it and you've
- 57:24closed up all those gaps where do you go from there where do you go like there
- 57:28was there was a show called Wayward Pines that I loved yeah it's about Matt
- 57:34Dylan goes to a small country town and he can't leave and it's all mysterious
- 57:39and something's wrong there and someone's trying to get him a message to
- 57:42him that says this town something's not right here and the whole first season is
- 57:47him trying to figure it out he figures it out at the end of the season and then
- 57:52it's no longer a mystery show then it's a Sci-Fi you know and season two there's no
- 57:58mystery it's just what happens in this sci-fi town do you know what I I feel like a
- 58:05show that lost its way was uh what was the one I can't think of the name of it I
- 58:10think it was was it JJ ABR show the one
- 58:12with lost no no no no no it was the one I think of the name of this [ __ ]
- 58:19show it was about like parallel Dimensions except it wasn't at first
- 58:23sliders no no no it's got
- 58:28um has it got the guy from Harry Potter guy from Harry Potter it's got it
- 58:35had Joshua Jackson in it and it had no it's not the guy from Lord of the Rings
- 58:40who played you know the crazy King who who jumped jumped off the building at in
- 58:45Boromir and far's father yeah cuz I've seed Lord of the
- 58:51Rings someone people people are going to people are going to ride in and be like
- 58:55you dickheaded not seen Lord of the Rings I mean Matt I'm not going to give
- 58:58you [ __ ] about not knowing this character's name cuz I don't know it
- 59:00either but luk have you not seen Lord of the Rings I saw the first movie and God it
- 59:07was boring the first the first movie was good they got boring after a while gets
- 59:14worse yeah man you saw the good one well there's some good bits in the second one
- 59:18too I'll give it that pieces of the others Fringe oh yeah
- 59:25yeah yeah Fringe I uh so Fringe I thought was fantastic
- 59:30for the first season or two maybe even just the first season I can't remember
- 59:35quite when it happened but then it just kind of changed what it was about or
- 59:38rather when I when I finally discovered what it was about I was like oh I don't like it
- 59:44anymore like it just went in a direction that I was like oh
- 59:51okay did you ever see a show called awake no
- 59:57it's got uh it's got Jason Isaac's in it who uh I haven't seen Harry Potter but I
- 1:00:02think he plays the blonde kid's father that makes sense oh yeah yeah
- 1:00:07yeah yeah yeah yeah but he uh he gets into a car crash with his wife and his
- 1:00:13son and on Alternate days he wakes up in
- 1:00:18a reality where only the wife survived and then the next day he'll wake up in
- 1:00:23the reality where only the son survived holy [ __ ] that's awesome yeah it's
- 1:00:27amazing it got cancelled after one series because um no one understood it
- 1:00:32people got confused yeah and um in both
- 1:00:37scenarios he goes to a psychiatrist because he's a uh he's a cop right and
- 1:00:42so they've forced him to go into this kind of
- 1:00:47counseling and uh the psychiatrist is saying look I can
- 1:00:53assure you this is the real world and the other one is a fantasy he's like
- 1:00:58yeah doc but that's what the other guy tells me too that's awesome yeah it's
- 1:01:02really good awake you said yeah awake might check that out you know what I've
- 1:01:07been watching uh finally is the killing
- 1:01:11oh yes cuz I'd seen like the first where
- 1:01:15are you uh we're just just into season two now cuz I I watched the first four
- 1:01:20or five episodes of it I think uh on your recommendation but then um
- 1:01:26I think that was like around the time that Jenna and I started dating and she
- 1:01:30hadn't seen it and um and then we just never got around to and I wasn't going
- 1:01:35to watch it without her so uh I just never got around to watching the rest of
- 1:01:38it but now we're watching it so yeah right six or seven years too late but
- 1:01:42but man it's good and I haven't read any spoilers about it which is nice too yeah
- 1:01:47that's great but yeah it's a good show I'm watching the third season of Fargo
- 1:01:51at the moment ah I gotta watch that I didn't like season two
- 1:01:56I did I did I I I thought season two had definitely some good stuff about it
- 1:02:00maybe not as good as season one for sure but I liked it season 3 is probably a
- 1:02:06little sillier cuz you know how it's kind of a black comedy right this is
- 1:02:11probably a little more on the comedy site than the serious side season two
- 1:02:14maybe went a little bit serious sometimes but this this is wacky uh and
- 1:02:19it's great and you and McGregor plays twins oh I didn't know he he was twins I know he
- 1:02:26uh he win an award best performance or something yeah yeah yeah play twins you
- 1:02:31in McDonald that's from another red letter media
- 1:02:37reference um so we Shor you and
- 1:02:43McDonald we mentioned uh Clive Warren earlier y
- 1:02:49um and I've uh I've just I've just
- 1:02:53finished watching Black Mirror oh yeah yes which uh which has what I can only
- 1:02:59assume is a remake of of an old Clive Warren movie that never really happened
- 1:03:03because cly Warren's not a real person um but yeah they finally turned kyl
- 1:03:09pilkington's ridiculous movie idea into an episode of Black Mirror you know I
- 1:03:14read an article about it apparently he he mentioned both of the things that
- 1:03:19happened in that really the doctor diagnosing You by putting on a thing
- 1:03:23that lets him experience your your sickness Carl Pilkington came up with
- 1:03:27that as well that kind of rings a bell yeah so I wonder if if that was
- 1:03:33intentional or not huh I like to think it is then if that's the case and like
- 1:03:38good on him but I I watched the credits to see if he was credited and he wasn't
- 1:03:45so Ian he's got a case against Charlie Brooker yeah I mean they must know each
- 1:03:51other listeners if you don't know what we're talking about years ago when Rick
- 1:03:55Jes and um Steven merchin had a radio show um Carl Pilkington was their
- 1:04:01producer and he one day pitched them a movie idea that he wanted to Star Clive
- 1:04:06Warren uh and we assume he meant Clive Owen and got it wrong and Rebecca deor
- 1:04:10who as far as I can tell hasn't made a film for 30 years um and the plot is he
- 1:04:17gets in a car accident and is in a coma and because she loves him so much she
- 1:04:22puts half of his brain into her head in replace half of her brain so that her
- 1:04:28body has both his and her conscious in them yeah and that is an episode of
- 1:04:32black Mir and they mock him they mock him mercilessly for this stupid idea and
- 1:04:37now Black Mirror did it and it was great yeah it was really
- 1:04:44interesting that was funny too that episode yeah I don't want to spoil
- 1:04:50anything but there's that that scene where the woman's yelling at the teddy
- 1:04:54bear that's Fant fantastic she's got it up against the wall yeah you [ __ ]
- 1:04:59listen to me so
- 1:05:03good yeah that was great I think my
- 1:05:06favorite episode of that series is
- 1:05:11probably the one with the dogs really I thought that was [ __ ]
- 1:05:16[Music] terrific I my only complaint about that one I I did like it and I thought it was
- 1:05:23it was very cool and and you know well done and everything but that but I don't
- 1:05:26really know they usually have like a message and I don't I don't know what
- 1:05:30the message of that one was no and it was it was it's kind of like the pig one
- 1:05:33where you're like this is a little off brand right but [ __ ] I would I would
- 1:05:39have watched that as a movie you know what I mean yes it's a yeah it's a woman
- 1:05:44being pursued by these robot dogs presumably in a post-apocalyptic future
- 1:05:49where we invented robot dogs for some reason that's I mean didn't really like
- 1:05:53the messages don't invent robot dogs yeah yeah it was warning us that one day
- 1:05:59our robot dogs will rise against us yeah I don't know normally the yeah there a
- 1:06:03little kind of a moral or I don't know but I did enjoy it it was
- 1:06:09good I think my favorite might be um I really liked the hang the DJ one
- 1:06:16the one about the dating app that was really insightful um and it I've only seen the
- 1:06:22one where the guy [ __ ] the pig there's better ones than that this
- 1:06:28the the dating one is about um basically it's it's presumably the future and the
- 1:06:35implication seems to be that you have to participate in this because they do seem
- 1:06:38to be forced to do this um you get set up by this system on dates and it tells
- 1:06:44you how long you're going to be together like it sets up your whole relationship
- 1:06:48yeah and you just go along with it it's like like imagine Tinder except Tinder
- 1:06:53matches you with people and then says you will beat together for 2 years and
- 1:06:57then you have to be with that person for 2 years and then it's people living out
- 1:07:01these experiences and then at the end of it it it uses all your experiences to
- 1:07:05calculate your perfect match and then it will just forces you to be with that
- 1:07:09person and it's uh it's really interesting sounds
- 1:07:13terrible well I don't mean that I I meant as if that was real not the show
- 1:07:20sounds terrible yeah well that's kind of the that's kind of Black Mirror is they
- 1:07:25take it an idea like that and run with it to the extreme like that one uh I
- 1:07:28like I like people didn't like this episode as much as I did I think the one
- 1:07:32with um Bryce Dallas Howard in last season where everybody rates everybody
- 1:07:37socially yeah and like your your whole R status in society is based on the rank
- 1:07:42that everybody gives you so if I Met You Luke out in public and I didn't like you
- 1:07:48I would give you a a low rating and then that would drag down your overall rating
- 1:07:53socially yeah so if I met you and I'd know you were only a three out of five
- 1:07:57and I'd be like oh probably won't hang around with you yeah I probably don't
- 1:07:59want to hang out God I would be screwed I don't make good first impressions I
- 1:08:04grow on people well that you would have you'd have no chance and it's even like
- 1:08:09she goes to buy a house and like you have to have a certain status level to
- 1:08:13live in a certain kind of house was really interesting I like that episode
- 1:08:18did you guys see U that Christian Bale apparently just did terminated salvation
- 1:08:22out of spite who was he spiting but everybody kept telling him can't they
- 1:08:28kept asking him to do it and he was like no no and then people kept saying yeah
- 1:08:33don't do that it's going to be [ __ ] but then Jonathan Nolan was involved oh at
- 1:08:38one point and and they get along really well and you know Jonathan no does good
- 1:08:42work and so and people kept saying no don't do that you can't do a Terminator
- 1:08:45movie it's garbage and then eventually he was like you know what [ __ ] you I'm
- 1:08:48doing it and then Jonathan noan left and
- 1:08:52it became became some salvation that we know and I watched half of that movie
- 1:08:58that movie made no sense yeah it was not very good it wasn't the wor thing about
- 1:09:03that movie I'll say that it was not the worst no not
- 1:09:08even the best thing about that movie was his rant from the set yes yes the world
- 1:09:14was graced with that MH and he says this
- 1:09:18is in a is a current a recent interview he says that was a very unusual occasion
- 1:09:23and a great lesson for him no matter how how much you lose yourself in a scene
- 1:09:26you do not allow yourself to behave that way and he said that he um he people
- 1:09:32make fun of him about it and he he laughs about it now and he looks back on
- 1:09:35it and he thinks it was funny at the time he did not think it was funny
- 1:09:41but he has a sense of humor about it now which is good to know because I was
- 1:09:45worried that Christian Bell was was an [ __ ] yeah cuz he certainly seems like
- 1:09:51one in that clip but also he's very he he's very intense apparent but then he
- 1:09:57didn't he like a week after that came out he screamed at his mom and sister in a
- 1:10:01restaurant that was I I know what you're talking about and I I do recall and I'm
- 1:10:08fact check me on this listeners but I think the situation with that was a
- 1:10:11little strange in that they was they were estranged somewhat and they had
- 1:10:16shown up looking for money that was my I remember that came out a bit later I
- 1:10:21think and so again a bit complicated so yes apparently he was yelling at his
- 1:10:27mother but not just cuz he's an ass but because she was looking for money and
- 1:10:32looking for a handout and here okay they didn't get along you know what that
- 1:10:36could that might be true that might not be true you know what it's not it's not
- 1:10:39funny yeah we so I apologize for dragging that yeah adding a bit of humor
- 1:10:45to the end there with a bit of domestic abuse mhm all right well it's not going to get any
- 1:10:50happier that's all for this week thank you for listening and hope you enjoyed the
