- 1:02Speaker 7: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:04Speaker 8: I am Brian. I'm Greg.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm Jay.
- 1:05Speaker 6: I am Misty. And I'm Marlena.
- 1:21Speaker 3: And it's been quite a while since we've had a
- 1:24Speaker 3: regular type show. It's all been road trips and holiday
- 1:27Speaker 3: specials and co-hosts and God knows what.
- 1:30Speaker 6: 30-year-old crap. Tough luck.
- 1:33Speaker 3: You're back whether you like it or not.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I know, you're in my house.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Even worse, we've invaded your home.
- 1:38Speaker 6: Which rarely ever happens.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Because we had to clean.
- 1:42Speaker 3: After Misty just heard about the frigid conditions in the
- 1:46Speaker 3: last recording session, she decided... She was not comfortable with
- 1:50Speaker 3: it being 40 degrees whilst recording. So, yeah, we've relocated
- 1:55Speaker 3: to the Casa de Misty and Jay.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Or it stays a comfortable 75 degrees.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Do you have a name for your studio?
- 2:02Speaker 2: No.
- 2:03Speaker 9: Oh, man.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's our kitchen. You're ruining the illusion.
- 2:06Speaker 6: The bastion of awesomeness.
- 2:09Speaker 3: There you go.
- 2:11Speaker 9: I was referring to it as Jay and Misty's magical museum.
- 2:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 3: There you go. There is a lot to look at.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Let's just sit here. We haven't even gotten the rest
- 2:22Speaker 3: of the museum tour.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Quite an extravaganza.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Of dorkiness.
- 2:27Speaker 2: While cleaning, I was too distracted.
- 2:29Speaker 11: I was like, oh my god, yeah, it's awesome. Look
- 2:31Speaker 11: how much, oh my god, look at my stuff.
- 2:34Speaker 12: Yeah, it took a while to clean because I had
- 2:37Speaker 12: to stop and play with stuff.
- 2:39Speaker 3: See, you're as bad as I am because that's why
- 2:41Speaker 3: I never get anything done. I was like, look what
- 2:42Speaker 3: I found. Holy shit. The only time you play with
- 2:45Speaker 3: your toys is when you're cleaning. 20 minutes later, I'm like, oh, yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 3: I'm supposed to be moving stuff over there. That's why
- 2:50Speaker 3: my house is dirty. I just relocate things.
- 2:53Speaker 6: That's my plan.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I do that.
- 2:54Speaker 3: That's my plan. Except for my kitchen.
- 2:55Speaker 2: My kitchen's really clean. It's the cleanest our kitchen's ever been.
- 3:01Speaker 3: All right. Anything else before we move on into the
- 3:05Speaker 3: geek activities?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Nope.
- 3:06Speaker 6: I'll just roll.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Should we snack away on our French vanilla marshmallows? Which
- 3:12Speaker 3: we've decided is the perfect podcasting snack because it's silent.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Except when you try really hard. I don't like that sound.
- 3:22Speaker 3: That's squishy. We need to be sponsored by marshmallows. That's
- 3:27Speaker 3: all I'm saying.
- 3:28Speaker 2: The Stay Puft Girl.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Ooh, wait a minute. I'm on board for that.
- 3:35Speaker 2: We're eating this in honor of the Stay Puft Girl.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Who has yet to contact us. What's up with that?
- 3:39Speaker 6: She's smart. That she is.
- 3:42Speaker 2: She knows we'll be peeping in her window if she
- 3:44Speaker 2: doesn't know.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Where she is.
- 3:45Speaker 7: Well, you know.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Alright, on to this week's geek activities. As for myself, um,
- 3:53Speaker 3: actually this is just a assemblage of stuff, because again,
- 3:55Speaker 3: we've had quite a while since we've sat down, so.
- 3:58Speaker 3: In the last several weeks, anyway, um, one of which
- 4:01Speaker 3: I've watched is The Town.
- 4:02Speaker 2: How'd that go?
- 4:05Speaker 3: Um, Affleck needs to stick to directing. He's, uh, he's
- 4:08Speaker 3: actually pretty damn good at it, and, um, I don't know.
- 4:11Speaker 3: It's the only place he seems to get respect anymore.
- 4:14Speaker 3: You know, I mean, anything he's done that he's either
- 4:18Speaker 3: written or directed, it's like he seems like he puts
- 4:20Speaker 3: a lot more care in and a lot more invested
- 4:23Speaker 3: in it, so it actually comes out really well. I mean,
- 4:26Speaker 3: out of the three things he's done as far as
- 4:28Speaker 3: writing and now directing, it's like all of those are
- 4:31Speaker 3: ten times better than his, like, acting projects, so... I
- 4:35Speaker 3: don't know. I think you should stick to that. I mean,
- 4:37Speaker 3: I understand sometimes you gotta cash a paycheck, and yes, unfortunately,
- 4:40Speaker 3: I'm referencing one of his movies, but you have to cash...
- 4:44Speaker 3: You have to cash a paycheck to be able to
- 4:47Speaker 3: afford to do your Gone Baby Gone, so I mean, it's...
- 4:51Speaker 3: I understand it's gotta be a balance. A lot of
- 4:53Speaker 3: big names do that, but he just seems like such
- 4:56Speaker 3: a jerk in most of his other movies, and people
- 4:58Speaker 3: just kinda hate him, so it's amazing to see him
- 5:01Speaker 3: come back around and, number one, be a good director
- 5:04Speaker 3: and turn in something useful, and Also, he does a
- 5:06Speaker 3: decent job as far as the acting performance. He still
- 5:10Speaker 3: lays it in with the Boston accents. But other than that,
- 5:13Speaker 3: it's still pretty impressive. And Jeremy Renner, as per usual,
- 5:17Speaker 3: is pretty damn impressive too. So it's a good movie.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I was kind of surprised how well it turned out.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Has anyone seen it?
- 5:27Speaker 6: I've stayed away from it for the sole purpose of
- 5:29Speaker 6: it is that boston thing that kind of drives that
- 5:33Speaker 6: chapter it gets annoying so uh same thing with you
- 5:37Speaker 6: know the new jersey mafia movie yeah that the cliches
- 5:42Speaker 6: get old and it just gets sick of watching those
- 5:45Speaker 6: so i i now that you say this is good,
- 5:48Speaker 6: maybe I'll.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Try it out. That's at least the characters, because it does,
- 5:50Speaker 3: I mean, in the first, like, 15, 20 minutes, you
- 5:53Speaker 3: get that very Boston setup of, you know, everybody in
- 5:56Speaker 3: this area, and it is a specific area they're referencing,
- 5:59Speaker 3: this neighborhood is, you know, hardcore Boston, it's, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 3: tons of hardcore characters, it is where all of the,
- 6:06Speaker 3: I mean, it is the most concentrated place of bank
- 6:09Speaker 3: robberies across the country, or some weird statistic, where the
- 6:13Speaker 3: most bank robberies take place in this little 20-mile radius
- 6:17Speaker 3: or something than anywhere else in the country. So it
- 6:20Speaker 3: is a very specific thing that he's going for here.
- 6:22Speaker 3: So I guess it's okay for him to tap into that.
- 6:24Speaker 3: But yeah, every once you get past that in the
- 6:27Speaker 3: first 20 minutes or so, the rest of the story
- 6:29Speaker 3: kicks in. And it's actually not a bad story. It's
- 6:31Speaker 3: not groundbreaking, but it's actually pretty good.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I have no interest in this whatsoever.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Gotta have some Affleck love.
- 6:39Speaker 12: Come on.
- 6:39Speaker 2: No, I think I'm good.
- 6:41Speaker 11: I want to watch Affleck.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I'll watch him in, like, tomorrow. He is awesome.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Fashionable male.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That's all I need from Affleck right there.
- 6:49Speaker 3: You just want him to beat you with a paddle.
- 6:50Speaker 3: That's what you want.
- 6:52Speaker 2: It's a very uncomfortable place.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Back of a road sweat. So, let's see. Other than that,
- 7:00Speaker 3: I just actually this morning finished watching The Blob, the
- 7:05Speaker 3: 80s version.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Has anybody seen that? That was.
- 7:08Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I liked it. It's one of those I kind of
- 7:11Speaker 3: remembered a long time ago, but had not gone back
- 7:13Speaker 3: to re-watch it in 15, 20 years. So I was like,
- 7:17Speaker 3: I've heard so many things about it that were pretty
- 7:19Speaker 3: positive in the last few years. It's like, I kind
- 7:21Speaker 3: of want to go back and watch it. So it's
- 7:23Speaker 3: actually one in watching it I think would be interesting
- 7:26Speaker 3: for us to do, or maybe even a series of Blob,
- 7:29Speaker 3: because I kind of want to go back and watch
- 7:30Speaker 3: the first one. And I think I'd forgotten there was
- 7:33Speaker 3: a sequel kind of thing that came out maybe 70s.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I don't know. I may just not go too far
- 7:40Speaker 3: into it and save it. That's like Beware the Blob
- 7:44Speaker 3: or something. It's got Larry Hagman in it. How can
- 7:46Speaker 3: you go wrong? I think if nothing else, we need
- 7:48Speaker 3: to do that one, and then maybe we can follow
- 7:50Speaker 3: that up with the 80s blob. I won't go too
- 7:53Speaker 3: far into it, but it is a lot of fun,
- 7:55Speaker 3: and they found a way to one-up what the first
- 7:58Speaker 3: one did. I love the first one. It's just campy awesomeness.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I've always loved the first one, even as a kid.
- 8:05Speaker 3: They found a way to do something new and different
- 8:07Speaker 3: with it, which... A lot of the 80s remakes didn't
- 8:10Speaker 3: really do that, and certainly the ones today don't really
- 8:12Speaker 3: do that. So that's kind of impressive, really. And then, again,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I rewatched the end of the first season of Dexter.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Oddly enough, before, I was sure we were watching this
- 8:23Speaker 3: week's movie. So, yeah, I just needed a fix in general.
- 8:27Speaker 3: But it's ironic because it will definitely come to tie
- 8:30Speaker 3: in later. So that's pretty much all I've done since
- 8:33Speaker 3: the last time out.
- 8:35Speaker 6: I guess that's me.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Sure.
- 8:38Speaker 6: I got to watch Darkon, a documentary about live-action fantasy role-playing. Oh, wow.
- 8:49Speaker 6: We saw that on Netflix. Netflix, that's where I watched mine.
- 8:53Speaker 6: We didn't watch it. It's about guys in Baltimore that
- 8:58Speaker 6: most of them have no life, obviously.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, it follows, I guess, like nine months
- 9:05Speaker 6: or a year in this life of guys that partake
- 9:11Speaker 6: on the weekends and put on their armor. And the
- 9:14Speaker 6: system is neat. I'm interested in the system of how
- 9:17Speaker 6: they've set it up and the politics of how they
- 9:19Speaker 6: run it. That's kind of fun to see. But the
- 9:25Speaker 6: best part of the movie, there's... not one of the
- 9:29Speaker 6: main characters or guys they're following. They go off to
- 9:32Speaker 6: the side during one of the events and he's complaining
- 9:36Speaker 6: and lamenting about how this was supposed to be their
- 9:40Speaker 6: escape from reality of, you know, the tough guys beating
- 9:44Speaker 6: up on the geeks and the little guys and now
- 9:48Speaker 6: they just turn on, you know, it's a collection of
- 9:50Speaker 6: geeks and they turn on themselves. You know, it's all
- 9:53Speaker 6: a power play. It's all who's cooler than the other
- 9:56Speaker 6: guy so you've got the uncool pushing down the even
- 10:02Speaker 6: more uncool and so it's that you try to escape
- 10:07Speaker 6: from it and you can't.
- 10:08Speaker 3: It's human nature, really.
- 10:09Speaker 6: It's human nature.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Even in the lesser, as you scroll down the scale,
- 10:14Speaker 3: even at the less cool people, you still fall into
- 10:16Speaker 3: that same little trap.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Yeah, and you can definitely see how there's the one
- 10:20Speaker 6: guy who, he's definitely got it all put together, the
- 10:23Speaker 6: leader of the strongest, the guys that are considered the
- 10:27Speaker 6: evil faction. He's charismatic and well-spoken and a good leader.
- 10:33Speaker 6: And nobody likes him because of that. And in the
- 10:36Speaker 6: real world, he's just your average geek. But in here, he's,
- 10:39Speaker 6: you know, this warlord. So that's fun to watch.
- 10:43Speaker 3: This sounds reminiscent of the King of Kong.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Total dorks, but yet it's this good versus evil.
- 10:50Speaker 6: There's a hierarchy.
- 10:52Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 3: They're like, in their world, they're like gods. And then
- 10:54Speaker 3: you realize, oh, he's just a dork with a job.
- 10:56Speaker 3: And then the rest of his life, you know.
- 10:58Speaker 13: Right, right.
- 10:59Speaker 6: Yeah, it's very much like that. And it's, I don't know,
- 11:04Speaker 6: I'm fascinated by that, and it also makes me feel
- 11:06Speaker 6: better about myself.
- 11:08Speaker 3: So, yeah, that's kind of why I watch that kind
- 11:10Speaker 3: of stuff.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Those all kind of do that. So, yeah. As far
- 11:15Speaker 6: as real movies, I try to shy away from actors
- 11:19Speaker 6: like Al Pacino, but I did finally end up watching Insomnia. Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I've heard a pretty decent thing.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Yeah, very well put together movie. A good movie to watch.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Robin Williams is fantastic in it. He only has a
- 11:36Speaker 6: few scenes in the movie. And every one that he's in,
- 11:41Speaker 6: he out-acts Al Pacino.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Both of those have a tendency to chew up some
- 11:46Speaker 3: scenery on occasion, so that could be trouble. But again,
- 11:50Speaker 3: especially Robin Williams. He's so good. If you give him
- 11:54Speaker 3: the chance... and he doesn't go off on one of
- 11:56Speaker 3: his goofy little Robin Williams things, he's a hell of
- 11:59Speaker 3: an actor.
- 11:59Speaker 6: Yeah, he is very much in control and being controlled
- 12:04Speaker 6: in the film, both by the character and by, I guess, himself,
- 12:08Speaker 6: or I guess the director. But, yeah, it's really well done.
- 12:14Speaker 6: It's set in Alaska. That's where the insomnia comes in.
- 12:16Speaker 6: It's during the summer, and it's light all the time.
- 12:20Speaker 6: If you watch it from that perspective, you can see
- 12:22Speaker 6: how light and plays a part, a character almost, in
- 12:27Speaker 6: the film. So it's a good watch. Again, I don't
- 12:31Speaker 6: normally like to watch Al Pacino. He kind of overacts,
- 12:35Speaker 6: is the word you want to use.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I mean, old Al Pacino is a very different animal.
- 12:40Speaker 3: You know, 70s Al Pacino is pretty awesome, and he
- 12:42Speaker 3: actually delivers real performances. By, like, 90s Al Pacino, he's
- 12:47Speaker 3: realized the caricature that is Al Pacino, and he just
- 12:50Speaker 3: brings that to work. It's like he doesn't do anything
- 12:52Speaker 3: that's not... what you've seen in the last five movies.
- 12:56Speaker 9: Yeah, I agree.
- 12:58Speaker 6: And then the other decent film that I saw was
- 13:03Speaker 6: Children of Men. I finally got around to seeing that.
- 13:05Speaker 6: I've not seen it yet.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I've been putting it off for so long.
- 13:08Speaker 6: Which one's that one? Is that the Julianne Moore? Yeah. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 6: I wanted to see that one. I never get a
- 13:15Speaker 6: chance to see it. Yeah, it's a good movie. Michael
- 13:19Speaker 6: Caine is fantastic in it. He's got a small part.
- 13:24Speaker 6: It was adapted from a book, so you've got that.
- 13:28Speaker 6: You can almost feel that, oh, this is adapted. But
- 13:34Speaker 6: it's still a good movie. It's good to go into
- 13:37Speaker 6: it and think. Michael Caine actually gives almost like a
- 13:40Speaker 6: speech in the middle of it, and he talks about
- 13:44Speaker 6: the difference between faith and chance, how things occur and
- 13:49Speaker 6: and how people act and react to the world around them.
- 13:52Speaker 6: And if you watch the movie from that perspective, you
- 13:56Speaker 6: can really get some good perspective. I'm not saying it's
- 14:00Speaker 6: a great movie. It's a good movie. It's a really
- 14:02Speaker 6: good movie. And there's one piece of camera work that
- 14:06Speaker 6: they do a city fighting scene, or there's kind of
- 14:13Speaker 6: a military raid going on. And a lot of times
- 14:17Speaker 6: that Camera in hand, first person view stuff is... I
- 14:21Speaker 6: can't stand. I get sick to my stomach and don't like...
- 14:26Speaker 6: This is extremely well done. It feels like it's all
- 14:28Speaker 6: one straight shot. And you really feel like... Even to
- 14:33Speaker 6: the points where there's blood splatter coming onto the camera.
- 14:37Speaker 6: You really feel sucked into the movie at that point.
- 14:40Speaker 6: And it's really one of those edge of the seats things.
- 14:44Speaker 6: It's one of the best... Examples of that I've seen
- 14:46Speaker 6: in a long time. The camera work in the movie
- 14:48Speaker 6: is fantastic. I know I'm a little behind the times,
- 14:51Speaker 6: but yes.
- 14:51Speaker 3: It's a great movie. It's one of those I haven't
- 14:53Speaker 3: heard anything bad. Either you love it or you really
- 14:58Speaker 3: love it. It's not a cheery movie, but other than that,
- 15:02Speaker 3: it's just so well put together. Again, I've just been
- 15:05Speaker 3: putting it off, too. Yeah, it's definitely worth a watch.
- 15:09Speaker 6: I think that's it.
- 15:10Speaker 12: It's been a long time since we've done this show,
- 15:12Speaker 12: but we didn't watch that much stuff to begin with.
- 15:15Speaker 3: We have, we just haven't kept track of.
- 15:17Speaker 6: All of it.
- 15:18Speaker 2: No, I made a list.
- 15:19Speaker 6: I made a list.
- 15:21Speaker 2: We watched Altitude, which you were a big fan of.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I hated that movie. What is that one?
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's about a pair of teenagers.
- 15:31Speaker 6: Yeah, they're probably college age.
- 15:35Speaker 12: Anyways, they're flying off to go to a concert that
- 15:38Speaker 12: she didn't that she was flying she told her dad
- 15:40Speaker 12: she was driving because apparently her mom died in.
- 15:42Speaker 8: A plane crash her mom was a a plane instructor
- 15:47Speaker 8: I think or something like that I don't know what
- 15:49Speaker 8: was it no she did plane tours.
- 15:51Speaker 6: Whatever mama died in a plane mama died.
- 15:55Speaker 12: In a plane I don't understand the whole thing it's
- 15:57Speaker 12: just stupid and then they were in a plane and
- 15:59Speaker 12: then weird stuff started happening.
- 16:01Speaker 8: I understand the movie it was a big loop it
- 16:04Speaker 8: was desperately trying to be a Twilight Zone episode or
- 16:07Speaker 8: a Lynch film And it just kind of sucked.
- 16:12Speaker 2: It might have worked well as a half an hour
- 16:14Speaker 2: Twilight Zone episode. If they'd left the end part off.
- 16:17Speaker 3: If the end part was stupid.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Or a Lynch movie if Lynch had actually done it.
- 16:21Speaker 2: It had some of the most obnoxious characters I've ever
- 16:25Speaker 2: seen in a movie.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Characters that couldn't die fast enough.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 16:30Speaker 6: Characters that I wanted to crawl into the movie and
- 16:32Speaker 6: kill myself.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Because they were horrible.
- 16:35Speaker 6: The jock guy.
- 16:37Speaker 12: He is like the perfect jock guy because you hate
- 16:40Speaker 12: this guy with a furious passion for all the jerks,
- 16:42Speaker 12: jock guys that you've ever met.
- 16:44Speaker 6: Because he is all of them.
- 16:45Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Roll into a ball and put in this movie. Yes.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he is.
- 16:51Speaker 6: He does everything possible to just... Make you hate him?
- 16:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:55Speaker 8: Screw people over and just be a general ass.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 8: I don't even know why these people hang out with
- 17:01Speaker 8: this guy. It doesn't make any sense. You know, they
- 17:03Speaker 8: always do that in those films. You gotta have you know,
- 17:06Speaker 8: the group that goes off, and then there's the jock,
- 17:08Speaker 8: and we got the computer nerd, and we got all
- 17:10Speaker 8: people in reality that don't hang out.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yep. And the black guy, and the Asian kid, and
- 17:16Speaker 3: I'm just like, what the hell? And I was like, people.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Don't do that.
- 17:21Speaker 12: Jessica Lounds, who I don't know, so I'm probably saying
- 17:23Speaker 12: her name wrong, but I'm sorry Chick has the ugliest
- 17:25Speaker 12: cry face I have ever seen.
- 17:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it's pretty bad.
- 17:28Speaker 3: You need to start ranking your ugly cry faces, because
- 17:31Speaker 3: it's become a go-to, you know, it's.
- 17:35Speaker 8: Pretty bad she starts crying and Misty's like oh my god.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Please so start keeping track we want a list going
- 17:42Speaker 3: she's generally.
- 17:43Speaker 12: A somewhat attractive person she looks like a Megan Fox
- 17:45Speaker 12: rip off of.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Normal thumbs.
- 17:49Speaker 3: That's saying something I.
- 17:50Speaker 11: Don't know but other than that she has this cry
- 17:52Speaker 11: face and I'm just like.
- 17:53Speaker 6: Ugh twisted contorted face that's just ah.
- 17:57Speaker 12: Yeah no don't make that face ever honey yeah okay
- 18:01Speaker 12: what else did we watch I made you watch Doctor
- 18:03Speaker 12: Strangelove because you had never.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Seen it yeah I liked it. It was good.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Had its moments.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Had its moments, yeah. It was really good. Strangely enough,
- 18:10Speaker 6: my dad.
- 18:10Speaker 8: Wants to see this, which he had sent me a
- 18:12Speaker 8: list of movies he wanted me to find for him,
- 18:15Speaker 8: and this was one of them, and I don't think
- 18:16Speaker 8: he really knows what it is. I think he just
- 18:19Speaker 8: knows it has to do with some military stuff.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's pretty different than most military movies.
- 18:24Speaker 6: It's pretty different, yeah.
- 18:26Speaker 7: You think?
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, it's one of those, I mean, not only
- 18:29Speaker 3: is it kind of, its own weird little story, but
- 18:32Speaker 3: on top of that, it's also got this weird sense
- 18:34Speaker 3: of humor that if you don't get it, you just
- 18:37Speaker 3: don't get it, like, flat out. So, yeah, I'm not
- 18:40Speaker 3: sure how he will take to that.
- 18:41Speaker 6: No, who knows?
- 18:42Speaker 8: He'll probably fall asleep during the opening credits, which is
- 18:45Speaker 8: what he usually does.
- 18:46Speaker 3: That's my plan, too. I come back and finish eventually.
- 18:50Speaker 11: Have you ever watched the end of Wrong Turn?
- 18:51Speaker 3: I haven't gotten that far yet, but I got through
- 18:54Speaker 3: Blob today. Third time's a charm.
- 18:57Speaker 6: No, that's not true.
- 18:58Speaker 2: How many times have you tried to watch Wrong Turn?
- 19:00Speaker 3: I was saying that one.
- 19:01Speaker 12: Oh, okay.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I don't know about, I'm not saying in general. Believe me,
- 19:04Speaker 3: there are some that's taken like five or six.
- 19:06Speaker 7: Times, so.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Also, we watched Nine, the, not the Strange Musical.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Not the, oh, I forgot.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Oh, Nine.
- 19:14Speaker 3: I forgot I mentioned that to you a couple weeks ago.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I watched, yeah, I watched the, well, I tried to
- 19:19Speaker 3: watch the musical. Oh, my God. It's exhausting.
- 19:23Speaker 12: You can definitely see the Tim Burton-esque influence. I think
- 19:26Speaker 12: he produced it. I don't think anything to do with like, director-wise.
- 19:29Speaker 6: I love that movie.
- 19:29Speaker 8: That movie's a great movie. My kid loves that movie.
- 19:32Speaker 8: She was like, I told her we were going to
- 19:33Speaker 8: watch Nine.
- 19:33Speaker 6: She's like, oh, I love that movie. That's my favorite movie.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And then we watched it without her.
- 19:37Speaker 6: I was like, really? Wow, it's kind of dark for
- 19:40Speaker 6: a kid's movie.
- 19:41Speaker 2: She does dark stuff, though, doesn't she?
- 19:43Speaker 6: She does, yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 12: So you have PG-13, so it's not necessarily like a
- 19:46Speaker 12: kid's movie, because there's scenes in there where you're just.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Like, wow, They're kind of violent.
- 19:50Speaker 11: There's no blood or gore.
- 19:51Speaker 8: There's no blood or gore but just the things that
- 19:53Speaker 8: happen to these little puppets or whatever they are.
- 19:56Speaker 3: More disturbing than violent.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just really disturbing.
- 19:59Speaker 8: Like one point you pointed out is there's a point
- 20:01Speaker 8: where they use one of their friends. They use his
- 20:05Speaker 8: unanimated corpse as kind of like a puppet.
- 20:08Speaker 6: A decoy.
- 20:09Speaker 8: As a decoy to draw them in. Oh, no, it's so-and-so,
- 20:12Speaker 8: you know, and then this thing comes out and tries
- 20:14Speaker 8: to get them.
- 20:14Speaker 12: This evil thing with, like, a half skull head, and
- 20:18Speaker 12: it's so creepy.
- 20:18Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, for little kids, you're watching these little
- 20:20Speaker 8: puppets get their souls sucked out.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Of them, you know.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw that in the theaters. It was pretty.
- 20:25Speaker 6: Kind of disturbing, but my kid's like, yeah, it's the
- 20:27Speaker 6: greatest part.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Your kid's weird. We also watched a Oh, I watched
- 20:33Speaker 2: one by myself, I wouldn't talk about it. Okay, you did.
- 20:34Speaker 12: I watched Tales from the Dead, which was a Japanese, like, movie,
- 20:37Speaker 12: it's a horror anthology, so it has, like, all these
- 20:40Speaker 12: different stories inside of it. It's about this girl who
- 20:41Speaker 12: talks to ghosts, and she tells this, because she picks
- 20:44Speaker 12: up this woman who's hitchhiking, and she tells her all
- 20:46Speaker 12: these stories about, because she says, I talk to ghosts,
- 20:48Speaker 12: and she's like, yeah, alright, whatever.
- 20:51Speaker 2: So she starts telling her all these stories.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Like Ghost Whisperer?
- 20:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Without the rack?
- 20:57Speaker 2: Without the humongous shelf of top house?
- 21:00Speaker 3: That's the star of that show. Cool.
- 21:02Speaker 2: But anyways, it was okay. That's all I have to
- 21:05Speaker 2: say about that movie. I just wanted to go ahead
- 21:06Speaker 2: and get into it. There's a twist at the end.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Talk to dead people. It's a very good Japanese movie.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Is she dead? Like in the sixth sense?
- 21:15Speaker 3: You're ruining it.
- 21:16Speaker 11: The lady telling the story isn't dead.
- 21:18Speaker 2: The lady should be dead. Well, she's going to be
- 21:22Speaker 2: dead by the end of the movie.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Everybody will be dead eventually so that's not even a
- 21:27Speaker 3: spoiler everybody will die everybody will be dead eventually we'll
- 21:32Speaker 3: all be dead who else is.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Gonna nobody's gonna watch that movie.
- 21:35Speaker 3: You never know it's on netflix hardcore you know.
- 21:40Speaker 12: And then we watched um scott pilgrim versus the.
- 21:44Speaker 8: World yeah i like that movie I like parts of
- 21:48Speaker 8: that movie.
- 21:49Speaker 6: You just didn't like... What's his name?
- 21:50Speaker 11: I don't like the main character.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I don't like Michael Cera.
- 21:53Speaker 11: I don't like his face.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I don't like his hair.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I don't like the.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Way he acts.
- 21:56Speaker 8: I've kind of gotten to that point. The main characters
- 21:58Speaker 8: of most of these movies now have become... even more outcast-looking, geekier, let's-dig-up-whoever-is-under-mom's-base.
- 22:06Speaker 6: We've gotten to the point.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Where it's unrealistic.
- 22:08Speaker 11: No chick that's that hot is going to fall in
- 22:09Speaker 11: love with this douchebag.
- 22:11Speaker 2: He is not attractive. I'm superficial. I wouldn't fall in
- 22:13Speaker 2: love with that guy. I don't know.
- 22:14Speaker 3: That's the problem. I see a lot of girls who
- 22:16Speaker 3: really should not be with these guys.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 3: There's just judgment issues there. I don't get it.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Zoe Deschanel.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Look who she is.
- 22:23Speaker 7: Really?
- 22:23Speaker 6: What's that about?
- 22:24Speaker 3: Some guy.
- 22:25Speaker 6: The guy from Death Cab for Cutie.
- 22:29Speaker 2: She's way cute, though. Yeah, we watched Scott Pilgrim.
- 22:33Speaker 12: But I don't know much about the comic book or anything,
- 22:35Speaker 12: so I don't know if it took heavily from the
- 22:37Speaker 12: comic book.
- 22:37Speaker 6: I don't, but I like it a lot.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I think it's pretty close.
- 22:39Speaker 11: It doesn't have all the game references, like.
- 22:41Speaker 3: All the Nintendo references. Again, I haven't read it, but
- 22:43Speaker 3: for one of them I've heard, yeah, they kind of
- 22:44Speaker 3: stuck pretty close to the idea.
- 22:46Speaker 8: Either way, even if you didn't see the, or if
- 22:49Speaker 8: you didn't read the comic book, if you're like a
- 22:51Speaker 8: Nintendo geek or something like that, which most kids are aged,
- 22:54Speaker 8: generally grew up in that era. All the little Zelda
- 22:58Speaker 8: music and the Super Mario music and little things that
- 23:02Speaker 8: pop in and out are pretty funny.
- 23:03Speaker 11: It was definitely a fun movie.
- 23:05Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a fun movie.
- 23:06Speaker 3: It's one of those that is very culturally bound. If
- 23:10Speaker 3: you show this to somebody who's 50, they're not going
- 23:14Speaker 3: to have a clue. Even if they get it, you
- 23:16Speaker 3: can follow the story, I'm sure, but you just don't
- 23:19Speaker 3: tap into that. It just doesn't click with anybody who
- 23:22Speaker 3: grew up in the video game world you know it's
- 23:25Speaker 3: a very different mentality at this.
- 23:26Speaker 12: Point i liked it i hate what's his face too
- 23:30Speaker 12: jason schwartzman.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Jason schwartzman he's always kind of a jerk yeah he
- 23:34Speaker 3: plays a jerk really well.
- 23:36Speaker 8: Yeah he plays a really good jerk but yeah yeah
- 23:40Speaker 8: i just i don't like michael cedar and i don't
- 23:42Speaker 8: like and i was like i would love this movie.
- 23:43Speaker 12: If they had somebody else in the main character i
- 23:45Speaker 12: just don't like.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Him there was a time when he was alright when
- 23:48Speaker 3: he was George Michael but you know I.
- 23:50Speaker 11: Loved him on the rest of the movie I know.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I don't like he's not.
- 23:55Speaker 11: A leading man he's like your side dorky character he's
- 23:58Speaker 11: like your brother character I don't want him as.
- 23:59Speaker 3: A leading man unfortunately he's got a slew of leading
- 24:03Speaker 3: man roles I.
- 24:04Speaker 12: Was cursing people who did this movie I also had
- 24:06Speaker 12: that one I had Brandon Routh.
- 24:07Speaker 3: In it who I hate can't get on board with
- 24:10Speaker 3: him either I.
- 24:10Speaker 11: Hate that guy he was the guy who was the
- 24:12Speaker 11: new Superman.
- 24:14Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 3: It's pretty much his only claim to fame. He's been
- 24:16Speaker 3: in other stuff, but that's the only thing people reference.
- 24:19Speaker 6: But who else? Your favorite buddies in this movie, too.
- 24:22Speaker 6: He's one of the vegan cops.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I was watching it, and I was like, hey,
- 24:28Speaker 2: is that Thomas Jane?
- 24:29Speaker 11: Would he be a cop in this movie? He was
- 24:30Speaker 11: in it for like five seconds. I'm like, is that
- 24:32Speaker 11: Thomas Jane?
- 24:32Speaker 2: I'm like, no, he wouldn't have done that.
- 24:34Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 6: It was Thomas Jane. He was a vegan cop. He
- 24:36Speaker 6: was a vegan cop.
- 24:37Speaker 3: He came to bust it, yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 6: The vegan guy.
- 24:39Speaker 2: The vegan guy who was Brandon Howell.
- 24:40Speaker 12: I'm not sure I'm slaughtering his name but whatever and
- 24:43Speaker 12: we watched we watched Suck which did it had such
- 24:51Speaker 12: good potential to be at least a fun movie it
- 24:53Speaker 12: had it's.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Moments but mostly no it.
- 24:56Speaker 8: Didn't well I can see how a certain group of
- 24:58Speaker 8: people would really get behind this movie and be really
- 25:00Speaker 8: all about it but I'm just not one of those
- 25:02Speaker 8: people it's a vampire movie Is.
- 25:04Speaker 3: It like rock and roll vampires or something?
- 25:06Speaker 8: Yeah, it's kind of like this rock band and they're
- 25:08Speaker 8: trying to make it big and then this weird looking
- 25:11Speaker 8: head vampire that looks exactly like Johnny Depp.
- 25:14Speaker 6: From Alice in Wonderland comes out. The hair and everything.
- 25:18Speaker 11: Ginger vampires are not scary in that way.
- 25:23Speaker 8: Anyways, he bites the bass player of this chick in
- 25:27Speaker 8: the band.
- 25:27Speaker 3: It would have been.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Hot except for her big old bunny dentures.
- 25:32Speaker 8: But she turns into a vampire, and then their band
- 25:34Speaker 8: starts getting popular. Of course, she's hot. And all the antics,
- 25:39Speaker 8: you know, there's shenanigans abound. They're on the road, and
- 25:44Speaker 8: she's eating people at different road stops, and they're trying
- 25:48Speaker 8: to cover it up.
- 25:50Speaker 6: Hugo. I like Hugo. Yeah, they eventually, most all the
- 25:54Speaker 6: band members become vampires. Vampires.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Except for Hugo.
- 25:57Speaker 6: Except for the roadie, who wants to be a vampire
- 25:59Speaker 6: more than anything else.
- 26:01Speaker 8: It's got a lot of different musicians that pop into it.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Iggy Pop.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Henry Rollins.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Henry Rollins. Iggy Pop is a vampire.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure.
- 26:10Speaker 6: He actually wasn't. Alice Cooper was the vampire.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Yeah, see? He seems about right to.
- 26:15Speaker 2: There might be a guitar player from Rush.
- 26:18Speaker 6: Rush? Alice Cooper's daughter was in it.
- 26:21Speaker 3: So, I mean.
- 26:22Speaker 8: It was a stomachable movie, but.
- 26:25Speaker 6: As far as like.
- 26:27Speaker 12: As we were watching, I'm like, is this a movie
- 26:28Speaker 12: or is this just a music video compilation?
- 26:31Speaker 6: So far, everything sounds great. It's a music video compilation.
- 26:35Speaker 2: It's on Netflix.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Well, I don't think it is. I'm just not into it.
- 26:39Speaker 6: That's just me. That doesn't mean that it's necessarily a
- 26:41Speaker 6: horrible movie. I just don't like it.
- 26:43Speaker 11: I understand having a movie that has.
- 26:44Speaker 2: If you're having a movie that involves a.
- 26:46Speaker 12: Band having songs in it, but you don't need to
- 26:48Speaker 12: have the entire song played.
- 26:50Speaker 6: That gets old. Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Especially just really bad songs.
- 26:54Speaker 3: So let me ask, was there only one girl in
- 26:56Speaker 3: the band? Yes.
- 26:57Speaker 7: Damn it.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Every time. And she was a bass player. Why does
- 27:00Speaker 3: it always follow suit, though? It's like, there's girls, and
- 27:03Speaker 3: they're only in bands with one. Now, granted, there's girl
- 27:05Speaker 3: groups and they play whatever, but if you only have
- 27:07Speaker 3: one girl in your group, why are they always the
- 27:08Speaker 3: bass player?
- 27:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Is it like they're more prone to play bass?
- 27:12Speaker 11: In Scott Pilgrim, the drummer was a chick.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Okay, thank you. Finally, let's break that mold, because it
- 27:17Speaker 3: wasn't even like a movie mold, like in the real world.
- 27:19Speaker 3: I was like, why do only girls... play bass players?
- 27:22Speaker 3: Why are they only bass players in bands with one girl?
- 27:24Speaker 6: Karen Black Flag, she's a bass player. The chick from
- 27:27Speaker 6: Rob Zombie.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Kim Deal.
- 27:29Speaker 6: She's a bass player.
- 27:30Speaker 3: All of them.
- 27:31Speaker 6: The chick from Smashing Pumpkins. Lenny Kravitz, his drummer's a chick.
- 27:36Speaker 3: His drummer's a chick.
- 27:37Speaker 6: There you go. What was the other one? Sonic Youth.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Sonic Youth, yeah. Jeanette Napolito.
- 27:45Speaker 6: I don't know if.
- 27:47Speaker 3: That's considered an easy number. So, I don't know. It's
- 27:51Speaker 3: just a weird thing that I just, over the years,
- 27:53Speaker 3: I keep seeing this. And I was like, really? Can
- 27:55Speaker 3: girls only play bass? Because I'm pretty sure they can
- 27:57Speaker 3: play whatever the hell they want. Is, like, mom shoving
- 27:59Speaker 3: a bass down their throat? Because that seems like an
- 28:01Speaker 3: odd choice, too.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Well, you have, what's her name, too? The chick, Oriente.
- 28:06Speaker 3: She was going to play for Michael Jackson's band.
- 28:08Speaker 2: She played guitar, lead guitar.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Why?
- 28:10Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Well, now she doesn't need a band. She can just
- 28:12Speaker 3: be her own.
- 28:12Speaker 11: But she started off with me in a band when.
- 28:14Speaker 3: She was a little chick. And she's hard. I'll tell
- 28:17Speaker 3: you this. Please, girls, pick up other instruments. I'm just
- 28:19Speaker 3: telling you.
- 28:20Speaker 12: They are.
- 28:20Speaker 6: They just form girl bands.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Yeah, they do.
- 28:22Speaker 8: I'm sure most guy bands don't want... They're either the
- 28:26Speaker 8: lead singer or they're the bass player. Because I think
- 28:29Speaker 8: most guy bands, the guy wants to be the guitar player.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Screw that. Nobody wants to be the drummer. Nobody wants
- 28:36Speaker 3: to be the drummer. No, usually it's nobody wants to
- 28:37Speaker 3: be the bass player. So maybe that's why it gets
- 28:38Speaker 3: shoved off on girls. Well, you can play bass, but
- 28:42Speaker 3: that's it. Usually the bass player is the one that
- 28:44Speaker 3: gets screwed over. Nobody likes the bass player. Occasionally somebody
- 28:48Speaker 3: might like the drummer, but yeah, the bass player always
- 28:51Speaker 3: gets screwed.
- 28:53Speaker 2: That's all we watched, I think.
- 28:55Speaker 3: That's it.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Aside from going back and watching Big Trouble in Little China.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Because yesterday was our anniversary, and it was the first movie.
- 29:04Speaker 6: We watched together.
- 29:06Speaker 8: That was my litmus test for her, was if she
- 29:10Speaker 8: could sit through Big Trouble in Little China and like it,
- 29:13Speaker 8: then you were the one for me.
- 29:16Speaker 3: You know you're on the right road at that point.
- 29:19Speaker 6: I remember after we saw it, she was like, this
- 29:20Speaker 6: is like the coolest movie ever!
- 29:22Speaker 7: And I was like, yes!
- 29:26Speaker 2: He's been slick with me ever since. I forgot I
- 29:29Speaker 2: watched American.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Gothic, too. I've been watching that.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I haven't finished the last disc yet. so I probably
- 29:33Speaker 2: should have waited until I finished it but I love
- 29:35Speaker 2: American Gothic yeah it's a.
- 29:37Speaker 9: TV show from like 95 with Gary Cole playing I
- 29:41Speaker 9: guess he's like an evil guy I haven't really said
- 29:44Speaker 9: exactly what he.
- 29:45Speaker 6: Is but he is just all sorts of evil he
- 29:47Speaker 6: is he's.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Chock full of evil I think he wears all this
- 29:49Speaker 2: evil on.
- 29:50Speaker 3: His hair though he.
- 29:52Speaker 11: Has this weird like moody.
- 29:54Speaker 8: Thing there's a lot going on in that show I
- 29:56Speaker 8: just can't stand that kid yeah you.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Can't stand him because he talks to them They're from, like.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Where are they, from Alabama or something?
- 30:02Speaker 3: I don't know where they are.
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'm going to get myself thrown on it.
- 30:04Speaker 6: Oh, my good God.
- 30:06Speaker 2: What you talking about?
- 30:07Speaker 6: What you talking about? Why is he the only one
- 30:10Speaker 6: that talks like that?
- 30:11Speaker 11: Nobody else in the movie talks like that.
- 30:13Speaker 6: His sister talks like that, too.
- 30:14Speaker 2: His dead sister talks like that.
- 30:16Speaker 6: But that's his voice. That's his voice in his head.
- 30:19Speaker 6: She's talking like that. Because it's his own thoughts.
- 30:22Speaker 11: Before the evil sheriff killed her, she talked like that.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Oh, jeez.
- 30:26Speaker 14: Whatever.
- 30:27Speaker 6: How come nobody else in the town talks like that, though?
- 30:30Speaker 2: No, I don't live there.
- 30:31Speaker 6: Maybe that's the problem with the show. Maybe they're telling
- 30:33Speaker 6: you something. Maybe that is.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:34Speaker 11: Well, because the little boy could be evil, too, so
- 30:36Speaker 11: they're letting you know.
- 30:37Speaker 2: You talk funny, you're going.
- 30:38Speaker 3: To be evil.
- 30:39Speaker 6: You talk funny, you're going to die.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Good times. It had an episode that had Bruce Campbell
- 30:47Speaker 2: and you got eaten by bugs. Spoiler alert.
- 30:51Speaker 6: If it was made in 95, you're not spoiling it.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Anything with Bruce, you're alright. It'll be fun regardless.
- 30:59Speaker 12: And it's Produced by Sam Raimi and Sean Cassidy, so
- 31:03Speaker 12: figure that one out.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah, there's an odd combination. How do Sam Raimi and
- 31:07Speaker 3: Sean Cassidy get together? Yeah, what... Maybe Sam was, like,
- 31:11Speaker 3: a fan of the Sean Cassidy fan club.
- 31:14Speaker 6: I think it could happen.
- 31:17Speaker 2: So, of course, with Sam Raimi, of course, he's going
- 31:20Speaker 2: to have Ted Raimi in at.
- 31:21Speaker 6: Least an episode.
- 31:22Speaker 3: It has to. It's in his contract. All right, good times.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I'm done.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Your turn, Molly. Okay, um, well... I've been reading a
- 31:30Speaker 2: lot lately because I can't.
- 31:32Speaker 3: That's not allowed.
- 31:32Speaker 6: This is not a reading podcast.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Are there pictures involved?
- 31:35Speaker 10: No.
- 31:36Speaker 2: No, I've been reading a lot of Graham Green, which
- 31:38Speaker 2: is like spy stuff, which is weird.
- 31:40Speaker 9: I don't know if any of this stuff has been
- 31:41Speaker 9: made into movies, but I think it would be like
- 31:43Speaker 9: good movies.
- 31:43Speaker 2: It's not recent or anything, but.
- 31:46Speaker 3: If it doesn't have Jason Bourne in it, don't waste
- 31:48Speaker 3: our time.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I don't know. Exactly. But, no, I don't have any internet.
- 31:52Speaker 2: And I have a new TV and a new VCR,
- 31:54Speaker 2: but I don't know how to work it.
- 31:56Speaker 6: Does it flash 12 all day long?
- 31:59Speaker 2: I can't get the sound to work.
- 32:00Speaker 9: I tried to watch One Hour Photo the other day,
- 32:02Speaker 9: and it was like, it played just fine, and it
- 32:04Speaker 9: looked just fine, but there was no sound.
- 32:06Speaker 6: Maybe you should just stick to silent movies. You don't
- 32:11Speaker 6: have to worry about the subtitles.
- 32:12Speaker 8: All movies are signed, but they don't have subtitles.
- 32:15Speaker 3: But then you have to bring in an orchestra to
- 32:17Speaker 3: actually get the real... Silent movie meltdown.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Silent movie meltdown.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Coming at you, the new offshoot show.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Two hours of nothing. Nosferatu.
- 32:30Speaker 3: It's just a streaming line.
- 32:31Speaker 6: You don't hear anything.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, but people like to watch our streaming. That's what
- 32:35Speaker 3: we found.
- 32:35Speaker 6: Watch our show.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Did I say that?
- 32:41Speaker 6: Yeah, someone who wasn't watching it, I can say it
- 32:43Speaker 6: because she's not watching this.
- 32:45Speaker 3: It might have been Misty, wasn't it? I don't even
- 32:47Speaker 3: remember now. I just remember a huge tangent. It stemmed
- 32:51Speaker 3: from you said something about, yeah, I think it was.
- 32:53Speaker 3: You said, well, Misty's not watching this anyway. Like, well,
- 32:56Speaker 3: nobody's watching it.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 33:00Speaker 3: We talk about you all the time.
- 33:01Speaker 2: You talk a shit about me.
- 33:03Speaker 3: We usually do. I have no idea. That's why you're
- 33:05Speaker 3: supposed to be here.
- 33:06Speaker 6: It's only good things.
- 33:08Speaker 9: Only good shit I really don't even have I have
- 33:12Speaker 9: no idea.
- 33:12Speaker 6: She's like damn it now I've got to listen to
- 33:14Speaker 6: the show.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I'll never listen to the show there's the plug we're.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Looking for we melt down even we don't listen.
- 33:28Speaker 9: Oh god I've been to the theater a couple of
- 33:34Speaker 9: times lately just because I don't.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Have to pay for it.
- 33:38Speaker 6: I need to find out that deal.
- 33:40Speaker 3: I'm missing out on that one.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Like the theater was like a fancy art theater?
- 33:45Speaker 6: No, just like theater.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Theater.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Theater.
- 33:48Speaker 3: In a fancy dress with George Takei.
- 33:50Speaker 11: That would be awesome.
- 33:52Speaker 6: George Takei in a fancy dress.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Either way, whatever.
- 33:55Speaker 11: He was wearing a casino in my dream.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 33:58Speaker 2: So, I don't know if I'd seen Tron the last
- 34:01Speaker 2: time we did the podcast.
- 34:02Speaker 6: I don't think so.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw Tron. I fell asleep.
- 34:06Speaker 3: That sounds about right from what I hear. It wasn't
- 34:08Speaker 3: really good.
- 34:08Speaker 9: I wasn't even impressed with the 3D, and it was
- 34:11Speaker 9: only my second 3D movie, but I wasn't really that
- 34:13Speaker 9: impressed with it. I was just kind of like, well,
- 34:17Speaker 9: I have these glasses, so all these people that I'm
- 34:19Speaker 9: here with aren't going to notice that I'm asleep.
- 34:23Speaker 6: It's a strategy.
- 34:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't seen the 3D aspect. All I've seen
- 34:29Speaker 3: is the commercials, but to me it's still, it's like,
- 34:32Speaker 3: the it's like they haven't really made any jump in
- 34:35Speaker 3: special effects like it looks like it did in the
- 34:37Speaker 3: 80s and i'm just like really i mean it should
- 34:40Speaker 3: be a little better now i mean it still looks
- 34:42Speaker 3: pretty cool which i you know i guess i like
- 34:44Speaker 3: the idea of them sticking with the world they're in
- 34:46Speaker 3: but i don't know it looks like it should be
- 34:49Speaker 3: better than it is yeah no really we've.
- 34:51Speaker 8: Made tons of advances in computers since the 80s you
- 34:53Speaker 8: would think it would be a little bit nicer.
- 34:55Speaker 3: You would think look.
- 34:56Speaker 9: At the graphics um computer animated jeff bridges freaked me
- 34:59Speaker 9: the fuck.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Out i've heard it's kind of gross.
- 35:02Speaker 2: And creepy and i was like oh god i don't ever.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Want to see him like that ever just old and
- 35:07Speaker 3: cranky like he is in all the movies.
- 35:08Speaker 9: Now but um but all the girls in the movie
- 35:10Speaker 9: were really pretty olivia wild.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Is gorgeous yeah i keep seeing her on stuff computer.
- 35:16Speaker 8: Animated chicks geeks aren't gonna put ugly chicks in their
- 35:19Speaker 8: computer yeah Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I remember weird science.
- 35:22Speaker 6: Yeah, really. Make them bigger.
- 35:29Speaker 2: And, yeah, Tron.
- 35:31Speaker 9: If you're really into, like, the old Tron or the
- 35:34Speaker 9: video game or whatever, I'm sure you would love it,
- 35:36Speaker 9: but I'm not.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I've never seen the first Tron.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Nobody can now because they won't put it out.
- 35:41Speaker 11: Right.
- 35:41Speaker 3: They're working on a special. That was the worst timing ever.
- 35:44Speaker 3: It's not available right now. And, like, everybody was trying
- 35:47Speaker 3: to find... It was, at least, on DVD. Everybody was
- 35:50Speaker 3: trying to find copies of it, so they were, like,
- 35:51Speaker 3: a hundred and some odd dollars on, like, eBay and
- 35:54Speaker 3: Amazon and stuff. So, yeah, people are, like, fighting to
- 35:57Speaker 3: get it. I'm like, Disney, are you stupid? Why not,
- 35:59Speaker 3: you know, put these little deals together? So, like, next year,
- 36:03Speaker 3: they're going to work on a special edition version.
- 36:06Speaker 6: Problem is, is when people watch it, they'll remember that
- 36:08Speaker 6: it wasn't that good.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that might have been.
- 36:10Speaker 6: That's what they're hiding.
- 36:11Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 36:11Speaker 6: It's not that good.
- 36:12Speaker 3: That might have been the strategy.
- 36:13Speaker 6: Pulling off the shelf.
- 36:13Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 6: The video game was awesome.
- 36:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 6: With the control stick and everything. I remember playing at
- 36:19Speaker 6: the arcade, but other.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Than that, Tron sucks. Well, the disc one was really cool, too.
- 36:22Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:24Speaker 3: But, yeah, I don't know. Maybe that was their strategy,
- 36:27Speaker 3: is hide it from people. Their memory is those cool
- 36:30Speaker 3: flashy lights, and we still have that in this one, so.
- 36:33Speaker 9: And I also saw The King's Speech, which was really good,
- 36:38Speaker 9: even though it's just about, that's what it's about.
- 36:41Speaker 2: It's about The King's Speech.
- 36:43Speaker 9: Um like the way he speaks or like he has
- 36:46Speaker 9: a stammering problem that's what the whole is what the
- 36:49Speaker 9: whole movie's.
- 36:49Speaker 3: About but i mean.
- 36:51Speaker 9: But it's still really good and not as boring as
- 36:54Speaker 9: it should be i mean like nothing exciting happened.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Really but that's a big deal i mean not only
- 36:59Speaker 3: is he the king of the country but this was
- 37:01Speaker 3: at that point where they start moving into radio yeah
- 37:04Speaker 3: and broadcasting to the people and everything depends on you
- 37:08Speaker 3: being able to not only lead your country, but let
- 37:12Speaker 3: them have faith in you. You have to be strong
- 37:15Speaker 3: and be an impressive leader, and if you're up there
- 37:17Speaker 3: stuttering the whole time.
- 37:19Speaker 9: It was a really good movie, but just think about it.
- 37:21Speaker 9: That's a huge stretch to have a two-hour-long movie.
- 37:27Speaker 2: On the premise of, like... A speech impediment. A speech impediment.
- 37:30Speaker 3: That's why you get fancy actors who are actually really
- 37:33Speaker 3: good actors. I know.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Geoffrey Rush was amazing.
- 37:35Speaker 3: That's what everyone is.
- 37:36Speaker 6: Geoffrey Rush is always amazing.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Kind of. Even in crappy movies.
- 37:38Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 8: I mean.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Even in fucking pirates.
- 37:42Speaker 9: I forgive him for showing his naked, disgusting ass in Quills.
- 37:47Speaker 2: It was hot.
- 37:47Speaker 3: No.
- 37:48Speaker 2: And I do kind of... I'm strangely attracted to Geoffrey Rush.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 37:51Speaker 3: It doesn't surprise me.
- 37:52Speaker 2: It's just... Yeah, it's just me.
- 37:54Speaker 6: As long as he keeps his clothes on.
- 37:56Speaker 2: As long as he keeps his clothes on. You're on
- 37:58Speaker 2: your own on that one.
- 37:58Speaker 6: You're hot if I don't have to look at you.
- 38:01Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Would you like to be on the podcast?
- 38:03Speaker 2: And Colin Firth was amazing.
- 38:05Speaker 9: Helena Bonham Carter was even good, even though her hair
- 38:07Speaker 9: really pissed me off the whole time.
- 38:09Speaker 3: She's a homewrecker. But I've heard, it is one of
- 38:11Speaker 3: those people who are like, oh yeah, I forgot she
- 38:13Speaker 3: can actually act when she's not in goofy-ass Tim Burton.
- 38:15Speaker 6: She's even a monkey.
- 38:17Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 38:17Speaker 2: She looked better as a monkey.
- 38:19Speaker 6: I can't argue that, actually.
- 38:23Speaker 9: They do make fun of her for being fat in
- 38:25Speaker 9: the movie which i thought was bonus homewrecker um yeah
- 38:31Speaker 9: it was really good um even though like i said
- 38:34Speaker 9: i kind of feel like they did an excellent job
- 38:37Speaker 9: considering the premise of the movie is like a fucking
- 38:39Speaker 9: speech impediment which is like you know they have movies.
- 38:42Speaker 2: About like whole wars that aren't half as interesting and
- 38:45Speaker 2: i'm just like i don't I don't understand.
- 38:47Speaker 3: That's impressive.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Good job. Yeah, very impressive. I watched Easy A, which
- 38:51Speaker 2: was a huge letdown.
- 38:53Speaker 3: I like that girl.
- 38:53Speaker 7: It looked fun.
- 38:54Speaker 2: It looks like it would be hilarious. It's all the
- 38:57Speaker 2: good stuff in the trailer.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Yes.
- 38:59Speaker 9: The premise of the movie is that she is telling
- 39:03Speaker 9: her slutty big boob friend, who's actually not slutty at all,
- 39:06Speaker 9: that she slept with a guy just because Her friend
- 39:08Speaker 9: wouldn't leave her alone.
- 39:09Speaker 2: And Amanda, Amanda, Amanda is in the bathroom and overhears it.
- 39:13Speaker 9: And is like, oh, my God, you dirty skank. And
- 39:15Speaker 9: tells the whole school that she had sex with this
- 39:18Speaker 9: one guy. All of a sudden, everybody cares. And they're like, oh, Tramp.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Oh, damn, girl, Tramp. Okay, seriously. Like, I don't think
- 39:26Speaker 2: there was a single virgin in my high school. We
- 39:29Speaker 2: had a daycare. for people who had children.
- 39:31Speaker 6: In your grade school.
- 39:32Speaker 3: In my grade school. In your preschool.
- 39:35Speaker 2: It was just, like, a hard thing to swallow.
- 39:38Speaker 9: Like, nobody cares if, like, a 17-year-old girl has sex
- 39:42Speaker 9: with some community college guy. Like, it's not the talk
- 39:44Speaker 9: of the school. Like, maybe if she had, like, an
- 39:47Speaker 9: orgy with, like.
- 39:49Speaker 2: A group of community college guys.
- 39:50Speaker 9: She might be the talk of the school, but other
- 39:52Speaker 9: than that, I mean, like, that's just not the world
- 39:54Speaker 9: that we live in.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Yeah, this plot would have worked in, like, 1980. No. Maybe.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Maybe 1950.
- 40:00Speaker 3: No, but I mean, there was still that. It was still, like,
- 40:02Speaker 3: a big deal at that point.
- 40:04Speaker 9: And that's kind of what they were doing. It was
- 40:06Speaker 9: trying to be, like... She referenced John Hughes movies a lot.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 2: It was trying to be, like, a cheesy 80s movie,
- 40:13Speaker 2: and it just wasn't. I mean... No.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Sometimes you're just too self-aware of these things.
- 40:19Speaker 9: Yeah, and the thing that really bothers me that I
- 40:21Speaker 9: used to think was, like, cute and clever, like, in
- 40:23Speaker 9: the movie Juno, the way she talked and she was, like,
- 40:26Speaker 9: super witty, you know, like, Gilmore Girls, the way, like,
- 40:29Speaker 9: their witty banter and their sarcasm and their humor, it's
- 40:33Speaker 9: tired now.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Like, people don't really.
- 40:35Speaker 9: It's forced.
- 40:35Speaker 2: People don't really talk like that.
- 40:37Speaker 3: And it's just overdone. I mean, it was original the
- 40:39Speaker 3: first several projects, but now that we've had 12 years of,
- 40:43Speaker 3: you know, so many different people doing this, that It's
- 40:46Speaker 3: over the top.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's just, like, I.
- 40:47Speaker 11: Don't... Are you implying that our banter isn't witty at all?
- 40:50Speaker 3: No, our banter is great. That makes it okay.
- 40:52Speaker 9: Our banter is totally witty, and, you know, I'm not, like,
- 40:55Speaker 9: the most, like, clever, like, I'm not a wordsmith by
- 40:59Speaker 9: any means, but, like, you know, it's just, like, it's
- 41:02Speaker 9: funny in real life, in movies, when it's fake and
- 41:05Speaker 9: it's forced, and it's just, like, you're like using big
- 41:08Speaker 9: words and people are like, what the fuck are you
- 41:09Speaker 9: talking about? Like, it's not funny when you're like.
- 41:12Speaker 6: Over Dawson's Creek.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 6: They, they talked in fully formed thoughts.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 3: That's, that's just Kevin Williamson. I mean, that's just the
- 41:20Speaker 3: way everything he wrote. If you look at anything, it's
- 41:22Speaker 3: just like, wow.
- 41:23Speaker 8: Yep.
- 41:23Speaker 3: That's one of his screenplays. So yeah, it's, it's like conversations.
- 41:27Speaker 6: If you had an hour to think about what your
- 41:29Speaker 6: reply would have been.
- 41:30Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 41:30Speaker 3: That's what that kind of, that's what I.
- 41:32Speaker 6: Should have said.
- 41:33Speaker 3: It's like an entire screenplay of that's what I should
- 41:35Speaker 3: have said.
- 41:35Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 41:35Speaker 6: Yeah i hate that i mean kids high school kids
- 41:40Speaker 6: are you suck that's what the come that's what the
- 41:42Speaker 6: comeback is so pretty much.
- 41:44Speaker 9: Yeah but it was just like trying really hard to
- 41:47Speaker 9: be witty stanley tucci was in it and i love
- 41:49Speaker 9: stanley tucci but he was like even him i'm just
- 41:52Speaker 9: like shut the fuck up god oh yeah um yeah
- 41:58Speaker 9: but it was a huge letdown that's that's all i'm
- 42:00Speaker 9: gonna say about that movie.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Uh I hope she turns up in better stuff.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Because she's very likable and seems like she could carry a.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Movie, so.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Are you talking about In the Stone? In the Stone, yeah.
- 42:11Speaker 12: She's going to be in the new Spider-Man movie. She's
- 42:13Speaker 12: like the new Gwen or whatever the.
- 42:15Speaker 3: As long as she's not on the Broadway play, because
- 42:17Speaker 3: she'll be dead.
- 42:18Speaker 2: She bleached her hair off.
- 42:20Speaker 3: She's blonde now.
- 42:21Speaker 2: She's like Gwen. What was the chick's name in Spider-Man
- 42:24Speaker 2: when he was in high school?
- 42:25Speaker 6: Well, it's not.
- 42:27Speaker 3: It's not Mary Jane.
- 42:28Speaker 12: No.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Because they got rid of Mary Jane.
- 42:30Speaker 2: But it's like in high school. Her name was Gwen something, maybe?
- 42:33Speaker 3: Gwen Stacy.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's who it is.
- 42:35Speaker 3: I might be making that up.
- 42:36Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 42:37Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 42:38Speaker 11: If it's wrong, I'm blaming it on you.
- 42:41Speaker 6: And people will call us out.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Go for it. We're not really discussing that specific story.
- 42:46Speaker 3: We're just referencing it.
- 42:47Speaker 9: Those are the only movies I can remember watching, but
- 42:49Speaker 9: I have been watching... I finished watching The Mighty Boosh,
- 42:52Speaker 9: which is awesome.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 42:54Speaker 3: It's another one I hear really good things about.
- 42:56Speaker 8: And, uh.
- 42:56Speaker 3: There's some moments.
- 42:57Speaker 9: I've just been watching, like, way too much British television lately. So, no,
- 43:01Speaker 9: some of it is fucking hilarious.
- 43:04Speaker 2: I always thought, you know, like.
- 43:05Speaker 6: I like British television.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 6: I'm very hit and miss on British television.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Aside from S Club 7, British television.
- 43:11Speaker 6: I mean, I think of British television.
- 43:13Speaker 9: I think of, like, Father Ted and, like, Smarple and
- 43:16Speaker 9: stuff like that.
- 43:17Speaker 8: But, like.
- 43:18Speaker 9: No, Mighty Boosh is fucking hilarious.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Spaced with Simon Pegg.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Spaced is awesome.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Spaced is actually pretty damn entertaining.
- 43:26Speaker 2: There's another one. It's called Nate Barley, I think. It
- 43:31Speaker 2: has the same people from Mighty Boosh in it. The
- 43:34Speaker 2: IT crowd.
- 43:35Speaker 3: Yeah, so that was the other one I was just about.
- 43:36Speaker 3: I was like, Space and the IT crowd are both, like,
- 43:39Speaker 3: above and beyond what normal, like, British programming is. They're
- 43:43Speaker 3: just really clever.
- 43:44Speaker 2: And it's the same group of actors, all of them.
- 43:47Speaker 2: It's really weird. I'm just like, so are there only, like,
- 43:49Speaker 2: ten actors in England?
- 43:51Speaker 6: Or are they just, like.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Just the funny ones. Just the really funny ones.
- 43:55Speaker 8: Well, there's a show that used to come on PBS.
- 43:57Speaker 8: I don't know if it's still on or not, but
- 43:59Speaker 8: Mom and Dad watched it all the time. I can't
- 44:01Speaker 8: remember the name of it. But it kind of centers
- 44:03Speaker 8: around these, I don't know if it's four or five
- 44:06Speaker 8: old guys that live in this village, and it's just
- 44:08Speaker 8: about them constantly getting into just mischief. They're just like
- 44:12Speaker 8: they were when they were kids. They all grew up
- 44:15Speaker 8: in the same village, but now they're all old, like
- 44:19Speaker 8: 70s and 80-year-old men, and they're still getting in trouble.
- 44:23Speaker 6: They all gather kind of around the same place. I
- 44:24Speaker 6: can't think of the name of it. I know the
- 44:25Speaker 6: guy who did the voice for.
- 44:28Speaker 8: Wallace from Wallace and Gromit is one of the actors
- 44:31Speaker 8: but I cannot remember the name of the movie or
- 44:33Speaker 8: I mean remember the name of.
- 44:34Speaker 6: The TV show somebody probably knows what it is.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Out there I just can't remember someone in media.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Land yeah or England England.
- 44:42Speaker 2: But but it's.
- 44:47Speaker 9: I've, it's made me say things funny, just like watching
- 44:50Speaker 9: British television.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Are you going to do Madonna?
- 44:55Speaker 2: But I've been saying like, like British people say, do
- 44:58Speaker 2: a shit. I'm going to do a shit.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Maybe, maybe you shouldn't say that out loud to people.
- 45:03Speaker 9: Um, and, uh, and another thing that I've started saying
- 45:09Speaker 9: or that I've realized, which is funny, uh, You say
- 45:12Speaker 9: well in front of things.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Like, that's well good. Or like, that's well delicious.
- 45:16Speaker 3: That's well bloody crazy.
- 45:18Speaker 2: It's a bunch of parp.
- 45:20Speaker 3: There you go. I don't get enough parp in my conversations.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I'll tell you now.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Shut your gob.
- 45:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:28Speaker 9: Oh, and I've also been playing video games, too.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I beat God of War.
- 45:33Speaker 6: Which one?
- 45:34Speaker 12: Three.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Three? In two days.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Cool.
- 45:36Speaker 2: I could have done it in one day.
- 45:37Speaker 6: I'm still on God of War 1 and 2.
- 45:40Speaker 9: But, I mean, I don't ever play video games.
- 45:42Speaker 2: I don't ever play video games, so I was very
- 45:44Speaker 2: proud of myself. I'm like, I beat this game, yeah.
- 45:46Speaker 2: And I started playing Bioshock yesterday, and I'm terrible at it.
- 45:49Speaker 3: It is awesome. Yeah, I'm playing Bioshock.
- 45:52Speaker 9: It is really awesome, but I'm terrible. Like the sweeping
- 45:54Speaker 9: camera view, I'm just like, I can't do it.
- 45:58Speaker 3: It's too much to process.
- 45:59Speaker 9: And it is, and I even have like a... co-pilot,
- 46:03Speaker 9: I guess, like someone who's like, no, turn left, turn left, left, left.
- 46:06Speaker 3: The other left.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I'm like, I can't do it when you're yelling at me.
- 46:12Speaker 10: I can only play some of those games before they
- 46:13Speaker 10: start making me sick, because I'm playing, what is that,
- 46:17Speaker 10: I played a couple, I played like two hours of
- 46:19Speaker 10: Gears of War 2 the other night, and then turned
- 46:22Speaker 10: it off and just felt.
- 46:23Speaker 6: Like I was going to have to puke.
- 46:24Speaker 11: You can't watch me play Naughty Bear, because It makes
- 46:26Speaker 11: me sick.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Not because I'm going around killing other bears.
- 46:30Speaker 13: I suck at that game, by the way.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Oh, the bear-on-bear violence. I can't watch it.
- 46:36Speaker 6: It's unbearable. You lose points for that. Bonus pun points.
- 46:41Speaker 3: What?
- 46:41Speaker 6: We don't give those out? Yeah.
- 46:48Speaker 2: But, yeah, so I'm terrible at Bioshock. That's okay.
- 46:51Speaker 9: I've learned this weekend there's lots of things I can't do,
- 46:53Speaker 9: like curl my hair with a flat iron and play Bioshock.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Once again, maybe you shouldn't do that. This sounds like
- 47:01Speaker 3: a fire about to break out.
- 47:02Speaker 6: Marlene is the person on the hair dryer that actually
- 47:07Speaker 6: has the warning, do not use while asleep on the.
- 47:10Speaker 3: The little stick figure drawing of her. Yeah, that's her.
- 47:15Speaker 9: Those are two independent functions that I do independently from
- 47:20Speaker 9: each other. It was just I grouped them in the
- 47:22Speaker 9: same thing because they're two things I learned I cannot do,
- 47:25Speaker 9: not necessarily do at the same time.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Of course I can't do them at the same time.
- 47:29Speaker 2: I can't do them one at a time, let alone together.
- 47:32Speaker 2: So that's what I was implying by that. Thank you.
- 47:34Speaker 3: I've also seen that drawing of you dunking a baby
- 47:36Speaker 3: in a five-gallon bucket. Please stop doing that.
- 47:39Speaker 9: Oh, and another thing I've started saying because of Howard Moon,
- 47:43Speaker 9: damn it, on Mighty Boosh. Like, I'll say an insult,
- 47:46Speaker 9: or I'll be like, I'll say sir after it.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Like, yes sir, thank you sir. Someone will insult him,
- 47:53Speaker 2: and he's like, thank you sir. I call my boyfriend
- 47:56Speaker 2: sir all the time. I do.
- 47:58Speaker 6: One of my friends was like, where do I pick
- 48:02Speaker 6: up a girl like that?
- 48:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 48:03Speaker 6: The internet.
- 48:04Speaker 2: The internet, yeah. Troll the internet. Is your friend handsome? Because, no,
- 48:10Speaker 2: I'm just kidding.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Online, I think I used my dear the other day.
- 48:14Speaker 6: My dear?
- 48:15Speaker 3: You look lovely, my dear.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Who'd you say that to?
- 48:18Speaker 3: One of our listeners, actually.
- 48:20Speaker 6: I don't know if it's John.
- 48:21Speaker 5: He's married.
- 48:22Speaker 6: Sorry, I don't have any single friends.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Except for Richie.
- 48:26Speaker 2: I'm just kidding.
- 48:28Speaker 6: No, I'm good. You might be too young for Richie.
- 48:31Speaker 2: I'm not a lady of the 80s. maybe once I
- 48:35Speaker 2: learn to curl my hair with.
- 48:36Speaker 3: A flat iron while playing video games but only like
- 48:41Speaker 3: but only Donkey Kong you can't play these new Bioshock.
- 48:44Speaker 6: Bullshit it's gotta be complete TV.
- 48:47Speaker 3: There you go Qbert.
- 48:51Speaker 2: I love Qbert make.
- 48:55Speaker 3: A Qbert game they should make a Qbert movie the
- 48:59Speaker 3: movie yikes Oh.
- 49:02Speaker 2: I have one more thing to say about Suck, because
- 49:03Speaker 2: I forgot earlier.
- 49:04Speaker 11: It had Malcolm McDowell in it. It played a character
- 49:07Speaker 11: called Eddie Van Helsing.
- 49:09Speaker 2: That was all I got with that one. I just
- 49:11Speaker 2: remembered how stupid that was.
- 49:12Speaker 9: Oh, oh, that's the thing about Easy A the cast
- 49:16Speaker 9: it had fucking Malcolm McDowell Thomas Hayden Church and Lisa
- 49:21Speaker 9: Kudrow and Stanley Tucci and like a bunch of people
- 49:24Speaker 9: is Lisa.
- 49:24Speaker 13: Kudrow 60 she is people always tell me I look
- 49:28Speaker 13: like Lisa Kudrow you have her face shape you do
- 49:30Speaker 13: I mean you don't really look exactly like her but
- 49:33Speaker 13: you have her shape you have the same shape face that.
- 49:35Speaker 3: She does I'm pretty sure if you make Malcolm McDowell
- 49:38Speaker 3: a sandwich he'll come to your house he's in everything
- 49:41Speaker 3: it's fucking amazing every time i see a new sometimes
- 49:45Speaker 3: straight to dvd movie i'm just like really he has
- 49:47Speaker 3: nothing better to do than being this there you go
- 49:50Speaker 3: like wow i can understand some of the big projects
- 49:53Speaker 3: he keeps turning up in but he'll be in just random.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Conventions he does.
- 49:57Speaker 1: He was there last time because he's busy filming yeah
- 50:00Speaker 1: he's busy with six.
- 50:01Speaker 3: More movies yeah it is that one i had to
- 50:03Speaker 3: work He's been doing them lately, but before that he wasn't,
- 50:07Speaker 3: and I guess because he was constantly shooting movies, some
- 50:10Speaker 3: of which people don't want to see.
- 50:11Speaker 2: He was wearing way too much denim when we saw him.
- 50:14Speaker 2: He had a denim shirt and denim pants.
- 50:16Speaker 9: But mostly he was wearing all khaki. It must have
- 50:18Speaker 9: been their uniform. You must wear all khaki.
- 50:20Speaker 2: You must wear all denim.
- 50:21Speaker 6: We lost a bet. They probably said, no one will care.
- 50:26Speaker 6: Where was the guy wearing.
- 50:27Speaker 2: All leather and the other guy wearing all tweed? I mean, like.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Those were the people out there with us. It was
- 50:32Speaker 3: just random goers of the convention.
- 50:34Speaker 8: The guy at the flea market last weekend, he was.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Wearing, what was it?
- 50:38Speaker 2: He was wearing a denim button-up shirt with denim clover rolls.
- 50:41Speaker 6: Yeah, just too much denim.
- 50:42Speaker 3: That's too much denim. Okay, I'm done. All righty. That
- 50:47Speaker 3: round out the Geek Week?
- 50:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:51Speaker 3: We will take a break. What?
- 50:53Speaker 2: It's been a while.
- 50:54Speaker 3: And it has been a while. That's why we had
- 50:56Speaker 3: to get caught up again. We'll be kidding. We always
- 50:59Speaker 3: take this long. We have a lot of dorky shit
- 51:01Speaker 3: to talk about.
- 51:03Speaker 12: All right.
- 51:04Speaker 3: We will take a break. Give me back with What's
- 51:05Speaker 3: the Buzz? When I'm diving in the sunshine, turning up
- 51:10Speaker 3: the radio, I wonder back to the day when my.
- 51:14Speaker 6: Baby ran away.
- 51:15Speaker 3: He was sex, dreams, and denim jeans. We used to
- 51:23Speaker 3: stay up all night playing late till it was bright,
- 51:26Speaker 3: but then he found the guitar and our worlds were
- 51:29Speaker 3: pulled flat.
- 51:30Speaker 14: He was sweet as night.
- 51:44Speaker 11: What is it?
- 51:45Speaker 3: Hey, why, it's buttercup.
- 51:47Speaker 4: Popcorn and sweet butter, two hot popcorn.
- 51:51Speaker 3: Mix it up, wrap it up, buttercup is born. It's delicious.
- 51:55Speaker 3: So nutritious. It's a tasty bite. It's so munchy. Crispy
- 51:59Speaker 3: and crunchy.
- 51:59Speaker 6: You'll enjoy each bite.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Eat butter, crunched buttercup.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Pop one at a time.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Served in a king-size cup.
- 52:06Speaker 4: Hey, If it had a mind, you could reason with it.
- 52:21Speaker 4: If it had a face, you could look it in
- 52:23Speaker 4: the eye. If it had a body, you could shoot it. Now,
- 52:36Speaker 4: man is no longer the supreme being on this planet.
- 52:42Speaker 9: The organism is growing at a geometric rate.
- 52:45Speaker 2: By all accounts, it's at least a thousand times its
- 52:47Speaker 2: original mass.
- 52:50Speaker 11: Nobody believes me about what happened tonight.
- 52:53Speaker 8: What did happen?
- 52:58Speaker 6: I want that organism alive. I think you pissed it off.
- 53:18Speaker 4: Blob, terror has no shape.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Well, I love the movies.
- 53:27Speaker 10: Welcome to the biggest movie event of the year.
- 53:29Speaker 4: We're going to have a great night, ladies and gentlemen.
- 53:33Speaker 6: And the Oscar goes to.
- 53:34Speaker 2: And the Oscar goes to.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Nick Ledger.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Ladies and.
- 53:41Speaker 7: Gentlemen, prepare yourselves. It's time for the third annual Movie
- 53:47Speaker 7: Meltdown Oscar Meyer Party. With all the glitz, glamour, pork products,
- 53:51Speaker 7: and vicious commentary you've come to know and love, the
- 53:55Speaker 7: Academy Awards will never be the same.
- 53:59Speaker 6: Bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste good.
- 54:02Speaker 7: Coming soon to this feed. Don't miss it. Oscar Meltdown 3D.
- 54:10Speaker 7: It's gonna be artery-clocking good. Make sure you watch Movie Meltdown.
- 54:22Speaker 6: This is Ken Foray.
- 54:23Speaker 7: It's one of the best internet radio shows that you
- 54:26Speaker 7: could ever.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Ever watch.
- 54:28Speaker 6: Movie Meltdown.
- 54:29Speaker 7: Ken Foray talking, baby.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Go Grizzly, bitch.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Sometimes the world is black.
- 54:41Speaker 5: And tears run from your eyes.
- 54:47Speaker 6: And maybe we'll all get... Really sick.
- 54:52Speaker 3: And maybe we'll all die. So let's build a snowman.
- 55:02Speaker 6: We can make him our best friend. We can name
- 55:04Speaker 6: him Tom.
- 55:05Speaker 3: We can name him Tom. We can make him tall.
- 55:08Speaker 6: We can make him not so tall.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Snowman.
- 55:11Speaker 5: We'll have a happy face, a happy smile, a happy.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Point of view.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Like a mad scientist.
- 55:20Speaker 12: You should do like the snowman centipede version.
- 55:26Speaker 2: The snowman centipede.
- 55:28Speaker 6: Can I go from that? Yes.
- 55:32Speaker 3: Do snowmen have asses? It's the big round. Yeah, but
- 55:39Speaker 3: I mean the anus portion. That's kind of the important
- 55:42Speaker 3: part of the centipede. You've got to know where.
- 55:44Speaker 7: To attach, I mean.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Ready for buzzing. This is a big deal. It's been
- 56:04Speaker 3: a long damn time since we've sat down and did
- 56:07Speaker 3: the what's the buzz. Was the last one coming back
- 56:12Speaker 3: from Lexington? I I think so. Yeah, I think that's
- 56:16Speaker 3: the only time we've done it, period, since Halloween. And
- 56:20Speaker 3: that was a road trip version of it. Some of
- 56:22Speaker 3: those movies have been produced by now. Yeah, yeah. That's
- 56:25Speaker 3: what's weird, is I will listen back to old ones
- 56:27Speaker 3: and hear stuff we were making fun of like a
- 56:29Speaker 3: year ago, and now it's in the theaters. I'm like, oh, wow,
- 56:32Speaker 3: that's kind of weird. We've come that long. Full circle,
- 56:36Speaker 3: and now the crappy movies are crappy movies we make
- 56:38Speaker 3: fun of in the theater. All right, so we can
- 56:41Speaker 3: kick it off with The King of the Monsters.
- 56:44Speaker 6: Godzilla.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Godzilla.
- 56:46Speaker 6: What about Godzilla?
- 56:47Speaker 3: Well, last March, Warner Brothers announced plans for a new
- 56:50Speaker 3: American version of Godzilla in conjunction with the movie monster's
- 56:56Speaker 3: Japanese makers, Toho Company. What?
- 57:00Speaker 6: Toho?
- 57:01Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 57:01Speaker 3: They make all the Godzillas. Yeah.
- 57:02Speaker 6: That's why they're so damn expensive.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Yes, they are.
- 57:05Speaker 6: That's the thing that pisses me off.
- 57:06Speaker 8: I go to look for Godzilla toys for my kid
- 57:08Speaker 8: because she loves the hell out of Godzilla.
- 57:10Speaker 6: It's plastic. That's all it is. It's just a piece
- 57:13Speaker 6: of plastic. In a cardboard container. It doesn't make noise.
- 57:18Speaker 6: It doesn't shoot fire.
- 57:19Speaker 3: It doesn't have batteries. It doesn't do anything.
- 57:21Speaker 8: But yet it's $ 21 for a piece of molded plastic.
- 57:24Speaker 6: Scam. It's killing me.
- 57:26Speaker 3: It's a scam.
- 57:26Speaker 6: Because they're like the only one that can make it.
- 57:28Speaker 3: It's like, no. We have Godzilla toys.
- 57:30Speaker 6: You want them?
- 57:30Speaker 3: Too bad. Pay money. So, yeah. This already, as you said,
- 57:35Speaker 3: if we've learned nothing from last time out, seems like
- 57:38Speaker 3: a bad idea.
- 57:39Speaker 2: But.
- 57:40Speaker 8: It could be okay if they're on board for it,
- 57:42Speaker 8: if it's not the American version just being like, We're
- 57:45Speaker 8: going to do it our way because.
- 57:46Speaker 6: It's American, damn it. We're going to make our own
- 57:48Speaker 6: damn dragons.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Which is what we did. Exactly.
- 57:50Speaker 6: Jesus was an American.
- 57:52Speaker 3: That's why it sucked. So those go hand in hand,
- 57:55Speaker 3: Jesus and Godzilla.
- 57:57Speaker 6: It's just we.
- 57:58Speaker 3: Find a way to fuck up anything.
- 57:59Speaker 6: That's all I'm saying.
- 58:00Speaker 2: We didn't talk about your awesome purchase, did we? We
- 58:03Speaker 2: didn't talk about the Ultraman.
- 58:06Speaker 6: It is kind of in line with Godzilla. Okay, okay.
- 58:10Speaker 8: I'll say that real quick. Growing up as a kid,
- 58:13Speaker 8: my favorite things were Godzilla. Kung Fu Theater, and Ultraman.
- 58:17Speaker 8: I remember some of my earliest memories are Ultraman. Well,
- 58:21Speaker 8: when we were at.
- 58:22Speaker 3: The flea market, actually, I mentioned last week that we
- 58:25Speaker 3: went to the flea market, but I didn't tell anybody
- 58:26Speaker 3: about your purchase.
- 58:27Speaker 8: Yeah, well, Misty, you and Misty pointed out to me
- 58:30Speaker 8: the Ultraman karaoke machine for any Ultimate Ultraman fan. It's
- 58:36Speaker 8: pretty fucking impossible to find because we can't even find...
- 58:38Speaker 8: Proof that it exists on the internet. No, but yet
- 58:41Speaker 8: somehow I have it. It must be the only one
- 58:43Speaker 8: ever in production. It's like the holy grail of Ultraman stuff.
- 58:47Speaker 8: And karaoke machines.
- 58:48Speaker 3: And awesome box art. Oh yeah, I know. The people.
- 58:52Speaker 8: on the box are having one hell of a fucking
- 58:55Speaker 8: good time.
- 58:55Speaker 3: That was my selling point. I was like, Jay, you
- 58:57Speaker 3: need to get this because those people on the box
- 59:00Speaker 3: are having the best time of their damn lives. Look
- 59:02Speaker 3: at them.
- 59:03Speaker 6: They were. They're all Japanese.
- 59:05Speaker 8: It's all Japanese box and they are singing the hell
- 59:08Speaker 8: out of some Ultraman karaoke.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Which is funny, because there's no lyrics.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 59:13Speaker 6: The tape that comes with it doesn't have any lyrics. Well, yeah,
- 59:16Speaker 6: I guess you do. It's just the soundtrack to Ultraman.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Well, did it come with it and maybe they got
- 59:20Speaker 3: lost along? Maybe there's like a lyric sheet that you're
- 59:23Speaker 3: supposed to sing along.
- 59:24Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 59:24Speaker 8: It didn't come with any of that. I guess you've
- 59:26Speaker 8: got to put your own tape in there.
- 59:28Speaker 3: Or maybe they all know the lyrics by heart. Possibly.
- 59:31Speaker 3: Maybe we're just not hardcore enough over here.
- 59:33Speaker 8: Maybe that's the problem. But, yeah, box art, Ultraman, sing
- 59:38Speaker 8: into him, his eyes light up.
- 59:40Speaker 7: It is awesome.
- 59:40Speaker 6: It's all kinds of awesome.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Because of the straps, you can strap it around your neck.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Yeah. It would be extra dorky.
- 59:45Speaker 2: It's handy karaoke.
- 59:47Speaker 6: Handy karaoke.
- 59:48Speaker 8: Nice.
- 59:49Speaker 6: Yeah, sorry to interrupt, but that was the.
- 59:51Speaker 3: No, no, I was surprised we didn't get to it
- 59:53Speaker 3: the last time.
- 59:54Speaker 6: It's pretty badass. Just the box is worth the price
- 59:57Speaker 6: that you paid for it. Definitely. And then you've got
- 59:59Speaker 6: a cool... If you want to stick a picture of
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: it on the.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: I was thinking, yeah, maybe that needs to be this little.
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: Yeah, it's pretty damn cool.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll put it on there and show you guys
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: how awesome it is. and ridiculous oh yeah so which
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: by the way was wasn't that just a knockoff ultraman
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: in that movie which one the uh megalom or yeah
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: was that jaguar um i don't know or was he
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: from the toho world but it was like.
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: Their version of from jet jaguar was actually a robot
- 1:00:29Speaker 8: that these two guys built to kind of To kind
- 1:00:33Speaker 8: of battle some of the monsters.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: So, in a way, yeah, but in a way, no,
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: because he was a robot.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: He wasn't an actual person. that had powers. Because, you know,
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: same thing with you. I watched all that same stuff
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: as a kid because we were watching on the same channel. And, yeah,
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: to me, the lines were blurred. It was like, Ultraman
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: was hanging out with Godzilla. Yeah, you didn't know.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: You were a kid.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: You were like, wow, it's Ultraman!
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: And they were like, no, it's not Ultraman.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: It's a totally different.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Whatever, it looks like Ultraman to me. Fuck it.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: This is awesome! It's Ultraman!
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: No, it's just.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: For all practical purposes, yes, it's Ultraman. Okay, whatever. It's fun.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: Who cares? So... Yeah, that was the tie-in for me.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, Ultraman fighting with Godzilla. The ultimate
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: tag team. Which they become in that movie.
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: Pretty much.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Once it became a monster movie and just became pro
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: wrestling with silly costumes. Exactly. Which is what they became.
- 1:01:22Speaker 6: Which is funny because I don't like pro wrestling nowadays.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: Especially when it's on.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: The sci-fi channel.
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: See, now if they were wearing big, huge dinosaur costumes...
- 1:01:31Speaker 6: That would be cool.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: That'd be pretty fun, actually.
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: And have little sets of towns that they were landing on.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: That would be awesome. Little explosions.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Impaling themselves on skyscrapers.
- 1:01:40Speaker 8: Airplanes on the microfilm wire that are flying around and stuff.
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: And Mothra could fly in.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: I never got a reply to my angry letter to Sci-Fi.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Do you want to have a segue here and go
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: into that story, too?
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I'm so pissed.
- 1:01:53Speaker 12: You do not have a two-day marathon of Twilight Zone
- 1:01:56Speaker 12: and then throw in two hours of wrestling.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: It is not an all-day Twilight Zone marathon.
- 1:01:59Speaker 12: If you have two hours of WWE wrestling right in
- 1:02:02Speaker 12: the middle of it.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: That is retarded.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: That's wrestling.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: Yeah, let's get it straight. That's wrestling.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: That's wrestling to you peoples.
- 1:02:08Speaker 11: First of all, it shouldn't be on the Sci-Fi Channel
- 1:02:10Speaker 11: in the first place.
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: No, it shouldn't.
- 1:02:12Speaker 11: Second of all, Sci-Fi is spelled S-C-I-F-I. You cannot spell
- 1:02:15Speaker 11: it S-Y-F-I.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: That's fucking retarded.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I believe we've covered that.
- 1:02:18Speaker 11: I told the Sci-Fi Channel this and I got no reply.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: In an angry, angry email.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: You don't interrupt my four-legged zone marathon.
- 1:02:25Speaker 11: You don't say all-day marathon. And you're going to put
- 1:02:27Speaker 11: wrestling in.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: The middle of it. That's just stupid.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: I agree. I was ready to back you up with
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: another email. My email, too.
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: There you go.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I did.
- 1:02:35Speaker 11: Also, what did you say?
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Did you say bad words? Yeah. So, hey, let's get
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: the whole movement going. If you guys listening think it's
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: stupid to put wrestling... First of all, on the Sci-Fi Channel.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Second of all, in the middle of an all-day Twilight
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: Zone marathon.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: I was making it not an all-day Twilight Zone marathon.
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: Is there a fucking wrestling channel?
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Yeah, there should be, because I don't have to watch it,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: so then I can skip over it.
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: Like TNT or something?
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: So, yeah, if everyone thinks that's stupid, go to their
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: website and send them an angry email and let's get
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: a whole movie.
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: We should make a movie meltdown form letter to send.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: We'll pass it around to everybody.
- 1:03:10Speaker 11: There's no wrestling on there.
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: There are so many fucking ton shitload ass of fucking
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: television shows that you could put on a sci-fi channel.
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: Why do you need to run wrestling? It's not like
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: you're like, oh, we need some time to fill because
- 1:03:24Speaker 8: what are we going to put on a sci-fi channel?
- 1:03:26Speaker 8: We don't have any sci-fi movies.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: You got TV shows. You got Dark Shadows. There's tons
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: of shit, you know? I mean, you've got, what, all
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: types of stuff. Or they were running, when I was
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: a kid, they were, hell, you could put Ultraman on it.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: Godzilla.
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: You could put anything. It's sci-fi, but don't put wrestling.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Come on. I think the issue was when they became Siffy,
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: that was at a point when they realized, hey, nobody's
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: watching our channel anymore. But there were people watching the channel.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: That's why I'm not watching it now.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Think about the hordes of wrestling fans out there. They're like, well,
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: if we can get them to come over here... Again,
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: I think it's stupid, but... What's next?
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: NASCAR?
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: Yeah, probably.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: If they can get ratings, if they can get people
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: on board for it, yeah, they probably will.
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: But then why become a sci-fi channel?
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: They're sippy now.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: That's why they became sippy, because then.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Then it's a brand, so it doesn't even mean it
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: has to have anything to do with science fiction. It's SIFI,
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: and that means wrestling, I guess. I don't know. It
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: means wrestling and.
- 1:04:24Speaker 8: Sci-fi, because, hey, the people that are going to watch
- 1:04:26Speaker 8: our really bad, crappy movies probably aren't that smart, so
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: we'll stick them in with the wrestling crowd.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: That's kind of what they're saying, actually.
- 1:04:32Speaker 11: I don't watch their bad movies, but I will not
- 1:04:34Speaker 11: watch the freaking wrestling.
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: We don't watch the bad movies for being like, oh,
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: my God, dude, you see what he did with that
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: daggone rock laundry?
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: He shoved it right up that dragon's ass.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: That was crazy. Not like that.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: You're pretty good at that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: We see stuff and we're just like, yeah, this movie's
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: going to suck.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: This movie's terrible. I love it. I mean, Manskito.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Where the hell are you going to get Manskito? Really?
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: That might be a new wrestler. Maybe they're just trying
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: out the wrestlers in these bad sci-fi movies. Manskito's off
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: the top rope. He's going to do the blood sucker.
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: Oh, he took him out. That would be fun. Only
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: if he dressed up in the costumes.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Which then, then it's just awesome because it's Mexican wrestling. Right.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: I'll watch Mexican wrestling. I don't want to watch American
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: horrible wrestling.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Ah, so yeah, piss me off. Angry Letters, a sci-fi channel.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: Yep, get on it, people.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: And tell them how stupid Safiya is.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're not going to change their mind on
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: that one. There's no other way around that one.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Stupid.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: So yeah, I was trying to piece the Ultraman in
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: with the Godzilla, but I can't do that with wrestling, so...
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: We just tangented off. Don't worry about it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 6: We do it all the time.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: So, yeah, Godzilla.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: You know it's our show.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: The.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Again, we learned nothing, obviously, from last time out. But
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: what we realized was that we did the ultimate error there.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: Not only did we Americanize it, but we gave it
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: to a big, dumb director. We gave it to Emmerich
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: and said, here, make one of your big, dumb movies.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: And that's exactly what they did. This time out, it's
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: at least hopeful. They found a director, and it is
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Gareth Edwards, who is a British director who did the indie,
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: low-budget science fiction movie Monsters.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: Okay, so he's done some science fiction stuff.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: He's done... Well, this is... I mean, that was his
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: feature debut, but, I mean, he did it himself. Like,
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: not only did he direct and, you know, create the movie,
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: he also did the special effects. That's how, like... I mean,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: he's actually trained at doing special effects and was so...
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: into the idea that, I mean, he did pretty much
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: everything on the movie. Well, that's cool.
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: I like that.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got to give that guy credit, and that's
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: the kind of person I would want in charge of
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: a new project like Godzilla.
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: Not some guy that's like, Godzilla, who's that again? Yeah,
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: that sounds like somebody who's already invested into Godzilla anyway.
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: It sounds like he's probably a fan.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Or at least, yeah, has a sense of how to
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: make a decent movie and not just like.
- 1:06:47Speaker 8: And they're bringing the toy company in on that too,
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: so that's kind of cool.
- 1:06:50Speaker 9: Yeah, well.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: At least the original, yeah.
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: If you're going to bring him in, bring somebody that
- 1:06:56Speaker 8: has some sort of relevance to Godzilla in, and at
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: least bounce ideas off of him.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: Don't just be like, we're going to make our own
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: damn Godzilla, whether you like it or not.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: I was thinking of the tie-in last time out. I
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: was like, Taco Bell? Last time, it may.
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: As well have been a... Jurassic Park movie.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: The second half of it is. It's like it's Jurassic Park.
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: She doesn't want to have anything to do with the
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: American Godzilla. Nobody does. She saw the movie on Netflix.
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: She was going through scrolling for Godzilla and she looked
- 1:07:27Speaker 8: at it and she was like, this is a Godzilla movie?
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: And I was like, yeah. And she goes, it doesn't
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: even look like Godzilla.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: You're right. And what's Ferris Bueller doing in it?
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: I can't answer that, honey. I'm sorry.
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: You're dancing and singing.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: He always deals.
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: With a hideous creature at night at home anyway. He
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: was stealing Godzilla's Ferrari.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: There's just so many problems with that American version last time. So, again,
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: my initial reaction is, oh, God, don't ever make another one. But...
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: You know, this is a good person to hand it to,
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I think. And I was kind of wondering what they
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: were going to throw at him next because that one's
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: had weird reviews because it's actually mostly like a relationship-based story. Like,
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: the monsters in this are sort of in the background, which, again,
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: gives him credit for having an actual screenplay. It's no
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: monster love story.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: It's not going to show up on the album.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: Getting it on with other giant monsters. I'd watch that, too, actually.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: I'm a little off. I realize that.
- 1:08:30Speaker 9: I once bought my friend this book called Frankenstein Makes
- 1:08:32Speaker 9: a Sandwich. There's this really funny poem at the end
- 1:08:35Speaker 9: of it. It's just a book of poems. There's this
- 1:08:37Speaker 9: really funny poem at the end of it about Godzilla taking.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: A poop on a Toyota.
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: I would recite that poem. And this has been your
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: moment with.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: That's just a snippet of a Marlena moment.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 1:08:52Speaker 9: You don't even want to know all the funny things
- 1:08:55Speaker 9: that have happened to me.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: You already had a triple feature last time. Mal.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: What was it? I don't even remember.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Weren't you there last time? No.
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: It's just a constant onslaught of, like, hilarious shit.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: That is my life. I can't keep up.
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: I think one of them was the single white female,
- 1:09:11Speaker 6: but with that dude.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he got the dude dressing like you.
- 1:09:14Speaker 14: Doug, yeah.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: He actually came in the other day because he'd gotten fired. Yeah.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: I think he needed, like, girl talk.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: And more people humping on you in bars. That was
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: most of what... Actually, you know, like.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: No one ever... No one does that. I don't do
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: that to people anymore.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: Well, in those stories, somebody was humping on somebody.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: And no one ever comes up to me.
- 1:09:36Speaker 9: Like, we were dancing the other day, and, like, there's
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: this retarded guy who's, like, dancing with everybody.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: He looks at me, and he, like, runs.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: I'm like... Yes!
- 1:09:44Speaker 9: I think I just wear main repellent clothes.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: You should start marketing that. I'm not sure how well
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: it would go over.
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: It smells like corndog.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Is that what attracted me?
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: Yeah, really, wait a minute. That's like dork attracted.
- 1:09:59Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: Look at that.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Look at that lot of smells.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: I don't even know if I'm on board for this. Alright,
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: so from Godzilla to George Clooney. They're both big and awesome, right?
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Who needs a Segway? Segway Schmegway.
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: Which one was on the Facts of Life?
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Godzilla. Clooney was on Roseanne. Godzilla was on Facts of Life.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: Let's keep that shit straight.
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: I thought Clooney was on the Facts of Life for
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: a little while.
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: Sadly he was. Sadly for his career. Oh, but now
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: he's moved on to bigger and better things. So he
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: seemingly splits his time now between Hollywood and Italy. Because
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: his last movie, The American, was set primarily in Italy.
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: So the latest movie that George Clooney has attached himself
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: to star in will return the actor to Italy as
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: the star of The Monster of Florence. The Fox 2000
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: movie will be an adaptation of the 2008 non-fiction book
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: The Monster of Florence, co-written by Douglas Preston and Mario Pesci.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: And if you're Italian and I'm saying that wrong, tough.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: Preston and Spezzi investigated the gruesome Il Monstro killings in Florence,
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: Italy from 1968 to 1985, which is a pretty long
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: span of killing people. And the process found themselves also
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: being suspects by the Italian police. So this has kind
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: of got like a Zodiac.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Vibe going on. Is Douglas Preston the one who always
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: writes Preston and Child? I don't know.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: I don't know. There's no word yet as to who
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: Clooney will be playing, but the most likely role would
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: appear to be that of Douglas Preston himself. If the
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: adaptation follows the book's blending of their investigations with the
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: story of the murders as well. This was one I
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: thought was kind of interesting. That span of time is
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: a huge amount of time for killing of people. I
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: don't know much about the Il Monstro killings, so this
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: sounds like something I would be on board for. at
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: least seen a version of. I don't know how close
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: they'll get to any real facts, but who cares when
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: it's a movie, right? I don't really care. At this point,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: I acknowledge that it's going to be wrong factually and
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I enjoy the movie. I don't know why everybody can't
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: just kind of get on board for that.
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: Well, what I can say about that is at least Clooney,
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: I might not like the subject or, you know, but
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: everything he does is well done. I mean, at the
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: very least. He's always entertaining no matter what. Yeah, so
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: I'm not Yeah, I mean, if he's going to choose
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: something with a nice storyline like that, or an interesting storyline,
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: it's probably going to be pretty good.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's pretty much everything he does now,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: even when it's stuff that's not commercially successful. It's like,
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: if you go back and look at him, it's like,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: it's rare that he's turning in, like, terrible movies, you know?
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Even his mediocre ones are better than most of the
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: crap that's coming out now.
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: So, yeah.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: And scaring goats. I hated that movie.
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: She hated that movie, but I loved him in that movie.
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: I still like that movie.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Again, that's... a more interesting project than most crap that
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: comes out and I've not really heard anybody that liked
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: it but everybody's kind of like well it's.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: Still worth watching I'll tell you that.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Yeah it's like it's still I don't.
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: Have to I know it sucks I've seen snippets of
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: it and I.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Told you it sucked yeah so I don't know it's
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: just one of those yeah he's always involved in pretty
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: good stuff so anything he's attached to at this point
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: it kind of gets a little bump up there for
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: being probably better than anything else Or at least better
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: produced than most stuff coming out now.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: All right, now we've discussed this movie before, but the
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: new casting allows me to discuss one of our favorite
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: 12-fingered actresses.
- 1:13:36Speaker 12: Jim.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Jim Arterton. Jim Arterton has now been signed on to
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: work with Paramount Pictures to co-star with Jeremy Renner in
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. Okay.
- 1:13:49Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: We were confused by this before, but I just like
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: that they found the other half of the cast now.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: The dark action movie is set many years after the
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: traumatic childhood incident, which ripped off two of her extra fingers.
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: Somewhere there's a witch with thumbs that are drawn.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: That's what happened to Megan Fox, too.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: Damn.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: These poor actresses in Hollywood, they can't keep their fingers
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: and thumbs.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: No, Megan Fox still has her thumbs.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Well, she lost that middle part. She's got toe thumbs.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: Now it's all stumpy and chill. She got ran over
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: by Steve. So, yeah, the traumatic childhood incident that we
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: all know as the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: Toe thumbs is going.
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: To be pretty traumatic.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: When the adult siblings grow up, they become supernatural bounty hunters.
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: Well, it makes them supernatural.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: Because they're in a fairy tale i don't know they get.
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: Some powers they survived a witch's yeah really they they
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: killed a witch and maybe they ate her after her
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: time they shoved her in an oven i mean witch's.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: House there you go ate.
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: Her house and gained her power yeah.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: That's how it works i'm pretty sure in crazy fairy
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: tale oh so director tommy orgola From Dead Snow, your
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: favorite movie. Oh, I hate a dead snow movie. Like
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: in stereo, but opposite. He plans to start filming Hansel
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: and Gretel Witch Hunters in Berlin, Germany, in March. So
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: he's going to get out. This was interesting just schedule-wise.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: I only realize now just how, I mentioned him earlier,
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: how popular Renner is at this point. The movie is
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: on a tight schedule as it fits into the eight
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: weeks in between Renner wrapping up his role in Mission Impossible,
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Ghost Protocol... and his role as Hawkeye in The Avengers. So, like,
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: are there any bigger properties that he's not attached to
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: at this point? It's crazy. Let's see. I like this, too.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: Another reason that Paramount is racing to get the movie
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: done quickly is that the studio wants to beat director
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Timber's adaptation of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. So I guess
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: these are... I'm like, really? Yeah, competing with each other? Like,
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: Grimm's fairy tales and Abraham Lincoln, they fall in the
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: same category? It's like, whatever. All right. Now, this one,
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: I personally am not a fan of the actress, but
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: it could lead to a few interesting points, and Marlena,
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: you may have some observations on this new project. And first,
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: I'm going to tangent off into my own story here,
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: because I'm about to mention Yentl. And earlier this week,
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: I went, it's just like Yentl, which I don't say
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: that very often. But I did run into a... I
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: don't really know this person, and I'm not going to
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: mention them by name, because it's nobody's business, but there
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: was this person that comes in that, well, as I
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: knew them, a year or so ago, a woman, and
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: now has a beard, and wears a yarmulke, and is
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: going into, is very deep into learning the ways of,
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: you know, the Jewish religion. And it seemingly looks like
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: a man now. I'm not really sure what all is
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: going on. I'm like, you find out as long as
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: they're happy, you know, whatever. They seem like they're making
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: a couple of life choices there. Good for them.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: So I, but it was a lot to, I mean,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: I feel like you should take one at a time.
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: I was like both within like a year of time.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: I was like, that's a lot.
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: It's like, you know, I really feel like I'm a man,
- 1:17:17Speaker 9: but not only a man, a Jewish man.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: That was, well, that was what weird. She used to,
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: I used to see her all the time and she'd
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: be wearing the yarmulke. And I'm like, I don't know
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: that much about Judaism, but I'm pretty sure girls aren't
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: supposed to wear those.
- 1:17:29Speaker 13: Maybe she just thought it was a cute little hat.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: I mean, that's the thing. At first I was like,
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: is she just like screwing around? Cause that's going to
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: piss off people who are actually Jewish.
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: Hey, you're missing the propeller.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: I'm like, you're going to piss somebody off. So then
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: later I was like, again, I heard it kind of
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: secondhand that no, she's like really into that. And she
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: wants to learn about the faith. And I was like, okay,
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: but if you learn a little more, I think you'll
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: find out you're not supposed to be wearing that. And
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: then like, again, haven't seen her in like six, eight months.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: And now all of a sudden there's a beard. And
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: I'm just like, okay, I guess. So finally I got
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: to wrap it up with, that's just like Yentl.
- 1:18:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: I don't get to use that phrase very often. So
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: I thought it was funny that it was now mentioned
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: going into this story. So that aside, although it has
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: now been over 25 years since Yentl, during which this
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: actress has appeared in only five movies, two of which
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: have the word Fockers in them. singer-actress barbara streisand got
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: her movie career started in a string of movie musicals
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: well now she is in talks with warner brothers to
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: finally return to the genre in a planned remake of.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: Gypsy the one about gypsy rosalie.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: There you go see i thought that i knew you'd
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: just seen that so based on the san jaime broadway
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: musical the memoirs of striptease artist gypsy rosalie yeah That's
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: the thing. They say, thankfully, the 60-year-old singer will not
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: be starring as Gypsy herself.
- 1:18:48Speaker 6: Because nobody wants.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: To see her dick. her clothes off. Even back in
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: the day, I didn't want to see her taking her
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: clothes off. But as her mother, Rose, who was played
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: in the 1962 film by Rosalind Russell. So, I didn't
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: know if you'd just seen that play. She featured... pretty
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: heavily in the play.
- 1:19:04Speaker 9: The play that I saw was kind of stupid because
- 1:19:06Speaker 9: at first it had nothing to, it was not about
- 1:19:09Speaker 9: Gypsy Rose Lee. It was about her sister and her mother.
- 1:19:12Speaker 9: And then mid play, all of a sudden it's about
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: Gypsy Rose Lee. And then you're like, what?
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: You come back from getting a drink and you're like,
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: who the fuck is this about now?
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: I got up from my seat for 10 minutes and
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: it's a whole new play.
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: It was just like way, it was like, uh, I mean,
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: it could have been really interesting. But it was basically
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: the world's longest, most poorly edited play I've ever seen
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: in my life.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: Well, maybe they'll do that with the movie. So, yeah,
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: the character of Rose is a classic example of a
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: stage mom, as they say, and she presses her young
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: daughter to become an entertainer. There's no word yet as
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: to who will be the young actress playing Gypsy herself.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: It's going to be me. Okay.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Get on then. I was going to ask if you
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: had any casting ideas, but we're just going straight with you.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Yep, it's going to be me.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Alright, write in to Warner Brothers and make sure they
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: know that we're casting it right now.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a done deal.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: That in itself, again, all of this is kind of goofy,
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: but the only thing that makes it more weird and
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: really makes it fit into one of our normal stories,
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: it will be produced by Joel Silver, who is usually
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: associated with his action franchise, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Predator, Matrix.
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: These are his kind of movies, so... You factor these
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: two things together in the middle, is it going to
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: meet and be like burlesque? I heard sucked. Yeah, no,
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: I was like, is it going to be, because it's
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: like the new Showgirls, basically. Only at least Showgirls was
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: entertaining in a bad way. From what I hear, burlesque
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: is not even entertaining. So, yeah, I'm wondering, is that
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: the road they're going down by having Joel Silver attached?
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Is it, you know? going to lose any sense of what.
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: Unless Barbra Streisand carries a gatling gun or something.
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: Which would be awesome at some point Barbra Streisand says
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: I ain't got time to bleed and then guns down
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: a bunch of people I'd watch that I don't want
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: to watch most of her stuff but I'd watch that
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: call it shoot the fucker please at this point give
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: it up that joke's not funny anymore we get it
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: it's funny you're still watching and we get it so
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: okay Now I return, it's been a long time, but
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: I return to our running feature of... What? Actually, this
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: one's entertaining. I'm not even angry about it, I'm just
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: sort of confused. Because who would have ever thought they
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: would have based a movie around the video game Madden Football?
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: Nice.
- 1:21:38Speaker 14: Nice.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: And in such a weird way. I don't think I've
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: heard this version of this story before. The video game
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: company Electronic Arts is developing a movie project inspired by
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: the Madden Curse. Are you familiar with the Madden Curse?
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: Yeah, you're on the cover one year, and the next
- 1:21:55Speaker 6: year you get hurt and put out for the rest.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Of the season. Again, I don't pay attention to football
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: because I don't care. So, it's funny, I like the
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: ridiculous story. So, yeah, any NFL player that appears on
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: the cover soon will suffer from an injury or decline
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: in performance. That's the Madden Curse. So... At this point,
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: there is not any writer, director, or movie studio actually attached.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: I wonder why. Because it sucks. Because it's a ridiculous
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: idea for a movie.
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: People would rather spend two hours watching football.
- 1:22:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: I guess if you care about football, you're just watching
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: football right about then. So Electronic Arts hopes that someone
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: will come aboard to make this movie a reality. Hope
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: in one hand and shit in the other. Rather than
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: it be about an athlete, the planned movie would be
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: about a former Madden video game champion who is forced
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: out of retirement just as he finds himself on the
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: game's cover and subject to the curse.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: Yeah, that's just dumb.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: It is. You know what?
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: Make a movie about the video game Lost Luggage.
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: Remember that game?
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: I think it came out for Atari. I'm thinking Burger Time.
- 1:23:02Speaker 6: It was called Lost Luggage.
- 1:23:03Speaker 8: All you had to do was run back and forth
- 1:23:06Speaker 8: and grab the suitcases that were falling down from the street.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: But does anybody remember Crazy Climber?
- 1:23:12Speaker 6: AC Climber sounds vaguely familiar.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you had like the two joysticks and you had
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: to climb up a building and not fall off. And
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: there'd be like old ladies that would open the window
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: and drop like flower pots on your head. So yeah,
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: that's asking to be turned into a movie, guys. I'm
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: telling you. I don't know why they never made a
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: Contra movie.
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: I think that would be awesome.
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: That one actually, yeah. I think that would be a
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: great movie.
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: Where's the Metal Gear Solid movie? I want that. I
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: want it, but I don't want to screw it up.
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Metal Gear, any of them would have made a
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: good movie. Yeah.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: Bionic Commando. Dwayne Johnson is the Bionic Commando. That might
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: be pretty good. I can see him as the Bionic Commando.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: That's happening. It's just been greenlit.
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: Yeah, come on.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: I just like the weird urban legend angle. I was like,
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: is it really going to be, is it going to
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: be like urban legend or like Final Destination where as
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: soon as you're on the cover, there's this weird series
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: of events that they're going to fall into some sort
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: of horrible injury.
- 1:24:07Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: So we're going to see, like, you know.
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: It'll be like a horror sports movie.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Just created a new genre. It'll be like.
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: A horror sports movie. Yeah, a horror sports movie. That's
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: called Jerry Maguire.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: It is, actually.
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: I know people love that, but I cannot get on board. But, no, like,
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: death just, like, invisibly starts moving things around. Like, what
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: if they're on the football field? And, like, he starts
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: moving shit around, and it ends with, you know, somebody
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: thighs him in themselves and just snapping their legs.
- 1:24:35Speaker 6: The scene before the movie.
- 1:24:36Speaker 15: They're in the training room remember see that's what I'm
- 1:24:39Speaker 15: saying it's like the urban legend angle like threw it
- 1:24:42Speaker 15: down that road for me I was like now if
- 1:24:44Speaker 15: you make it that ridiculous and that stupid I might
- 1:24:46Speaker 15: have to go.
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: See that that seems kind of fun actually stupid.
- 1:24:50Speaker 11: I love urban legends I love Final.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Destination I'm hoping they go that route don't it alright
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: and we can round things up with an update to
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: our ongoing Toys in the Attic heading because we've made
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: fun of this already we already made.
- 1:25:04Speaker 14: Fun of the Ouija movie They're going to do a
- 1:25:07Speaker 14: Ouija board movie. So Universal Pictures is proceeding with its
- 1:25:13Speaker 14: plans with Hasbro to adapt the company's board games into
- 1:25:16Speaker 14: actual big-budget movies.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: Battleship is currently filming, scheduled to come out in 2012.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: It may very well be the end of the world, actually.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: But the next project up, Ouija, which we've already made
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: fun of, is scheduled for November 2012. The world will
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: be over then. We don't have to worry about that shit.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: I hope so at this point. And they've begun negotiations.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: They now have a director. Could it get any worse?
- 1:25:37Speaker 12: Yes.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: The director is Joseph McGendinickle.
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: Hey, at least it's not you at all.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: Do you recognize that name?
- 1:25:42Speaker 12: No.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: Joseph McGinty-Nickel, a.k.a.
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: McG.
- 1:25:48Speaker 7: Oh, McG.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: He makes some good music.
- 1:25:52Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:25:52Speaker 11: He did Fastlane.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: Fastlane was awesome.
- 1:25:54Speaker 11: I don't care what anybody says. Fastlane kicked ass.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: He's just gone steadily downhill. It's like everything he... And
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: just attaching him to a project almost makes it suck now.
- 1:26:03Speaker 8: It's... Isn't he slated to do the Pickup Sticks movie?
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: I believe he is, actually. Right after he finishes Don't
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: Break the Ice. It's a cool game we can all play.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Don't spray the beans.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: Oh, McG is... Pretty sneaky, sis. That's right. Do you
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: know how many times I said that over the holiday?
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: I got to play that with my nephew, and I
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: continually said, Pretty sneaky, sis. Which he continually was like, Hey,
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: I'm not a sis. And then I had to explain
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: the commercial to him, and then he kind of thought
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: it was funny. Then I actually got to say it
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: to my sister, so it was all funny. Pretty sneaky, sis.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: So if McG signs on, the filming is scheduled to
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: start on the Supernatural Action Adventure... What? That makes no sense.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: This summer. So, yeah. If it makes it any better,
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: the Ouija script is adapted by the screenwriters Adam Horowitz
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: and Edward Ewan Doe. Yes, yes. It's written by a
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: beastie boy. Edward Kitsis, who are best known for writing
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: several episodes of Lost and co-writing Tron Legacy.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: That's not going to make any sense.
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: So, yeah, I was like, that's no reassuring in the
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: writing there, because we go from a plot that nobody
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: can follow to a plot that, well, to no plot
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: at all, basically. So, yeah, I don't know. Is there
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: anything good coming out of this? No.
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: I can at least see with Luigi, you can write
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: a campy, supernatural thing that you play with it and
- 1:27:42Speaker 6: somebody dies.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: I mean, they already did. It's called Witch Board.
- 1:27:45Speaker 15: Right.
- 1:27:46Speaker 6: It basically writes itself. Well, I mean, and another game,
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: it's like Jumanji and Zathura. Those are good movies. Leave
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: it alone.
- 1:27:54Speaker 11: That one that sucked that had Eliza Dushku in it.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: Which one?
- 1:27:57Speaker 12: Well, they played this game, and it was kind of
- 1:27:59Speaker 12: like if you lost in the game.
- 1:28:01Speaker 6: Oh, good lord. That was... I don't remember the name
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: of it. That was a video game, though, wasn't it?
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: It was a movie.
- 1:28:07Speaker 6: Was it a movie?
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and at the end she turns into a big dragonfly.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: Spoiler alert! I don't know the name of it, but
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: I'm going to ruin it.
- 1:28:15Speaker 9: That way it makes.
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: It more of a challenge.
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: Figure out which movie.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: You're three quarters of the way through.
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: Fuck, Missy, you ruined this movie and I didn't even
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: know it.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: You didn't turn into it.
- 1:28:28Speaker 11: She's like half-naked and she's got wings.
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: Well, there you go.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: Half-naked sold a lot of the listeners already. Half-naked douche-coo.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: I heard douche-coo's half-naked.
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: At a movie.
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: I'm going to go see that now. Even though she does...
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: become a dragonfly.
- 1:28:41Speaker 8: She got dragonfly wings and she flies around that's hot
- 1:28:43Speaker 8: god i must.
- 1:28:44Speaker 11: Have blocked that out because i really don't remember.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: It I can't remember what it's called. Oh, it sucks.
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure it was a sci-fi original.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: I hate to tell you, our review of Black Waters
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: of Echo's Pond was very similar to that, because, yeah,
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: that's exactly what that game. You play a ridiculously huge
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: elaborate board game, and then things go wrong in the
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: real world. Yeah, so. We've already seen many versions of
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: this movie. I don't know why we need to see
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: it again. I don't know that we need McG attached
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: to it. So, I don't know. But with that news,
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: I guess it makes McG Mr. Weegee. Yeah, dude. With that,
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: we will wrap up part one here and invite you
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: to come back and join us for part two in
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: this week's Sofa Theater feature, George Romero's Martin. Is that
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: the one with Shanaynay? Yes. I believe George Romero is
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: in drag as Shanaynay. Come back and join.
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: .
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: .
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: .
- 1:30:24Speaker 7: Who is this mysterious wizard?
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: What new villainy are his men up to?
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: Don't miss Tunnel of Terror, the second exciting chapter of
- 1:30:36Speaker 8: Batman and Robin, at this theater next week.
