Speaker 1: And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
0:07
Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome to Move the Sticks, DJ, Bucky
0:10
Speaker 1: Rhett with you on a recap Monday, looking back at
0:13
Speaker 1: week five of NFL Action. Buck, I'll get to you
0:17
Speaker 1: first of all, good weekend, enjoy the baseball. How was
0:19
Speaker 1: it for you?
0:21
Speaker 2: It's been a great weekend where we're talking about one
0:22
Speaker 2: and one split. We got all kinds of action going. Uh.
0:25
Speaker 3: We have Padres fans that don't know how to act.
0:27
Speaker 3: It's been great. Is business as usual? Yeah?
0:29
Speaker 1: The Padre fans are the ones throwing stuff on the field.
0:31
Speaker 1: Go ahead, right, well, how was your weekend? You have
0:33
Speaker 1: a good weekend. I can't see that I'm trying to show.
0:40
Speaker 1: I can't see Indiana six and oh all right, yeah
0:44
Speaker 1: that's it. That's how you get it.
0:45
Speaker 4: Okay, all right, I don't know. First, don't worry about it.
0:50
Speaker 4: Don't worry about it.
0:52
Speaker 1: Or your Hoosiers football program. Let's jump in. Let's jump
0:55
Speaker 1: into the games. Boys. We've got a lot of games
0:56
Speaker 1: to get into. Buck, Let's start off here, Baltimore, Cincinnati.
1:01
Speaker 1: I've got thoughts. I want to hear your thoughts. But
1:02
Speaker 1: before we get our thoughts. Uh, let's hear from Joe
1:05
Speaker 1: Burrow and attack this from the Cincinnati side of things.
1:08
Speaker 1: Then we'll get to Baltimore.
1:10
Speaker 3: We're not a championship level team right now. We're not.
1:16
Speaker 1: You know, I like to think that, you know, we'll
1:19
Speaker 1: come back and improve throughout the season to get to
1:21
Speaker 1: that point, but right now we are not, and we
1:24
Speaker 1: have to get better.
1:26
Speaker 2: What do you think, Buck, Look, he's captain an obvious statement,
1:30
Speaker 2: but now I didn't have a championship level team just
1:33
Speaker 2: in talking about the Cincinnati beingers.
1:34
Speaker 3: I wrote about it on Friday in the notebook. The
1:37
Speaker 3: defense just struggling.
1:38
Speaker 2: The defense has been unable to generate pressure, They've been
1:41
Speaker 2: unable to consistently cover, and defensive coordinator lou and Aroumo
1:44
Speaker 2: has been at a loss and in terms of trying
1:47
Speaker 2: to come up with the plan to allow his players
1:50
Speaker 2: to be at their best. And I don't know where
1:52
Speaker 2: they go because when the Bengals embarked on this journey
1:55
Speaker 2: a couple of years ago with trying to get a
1:57
Speaker 2: lot of defensive personnel, they look they committed UH picks
2:00
Speaker 2: in the first three rounds and eat to the last
2:02
Speaker 2: two drafts to get younger, to get more dynamic and
2:04
Speaker 2: more athletic, and it just hasn't panned out. This is
2:09
Speaker 2: one where the team is going to have to lean
2:11
Speaker 2: extensively on their offense to get it done. And right now,
2:14
Speaker 2: Joe Burrn the offense simply can't cover a defense that's
2:17
Speaker 2: LaGG him behind. Yeah.
2:19
Speaker 5: Man, it's it's tough when it's tough to score thirty
2:21
Speaker 5: eight and lose, you know, especially when you were as
2:24
Speaker 5: uh as just on it as Joe Burrow and Jamar
2:27
Speaker 5: Chase and t Higgins were in this game.
2:29
Speaker 4: You know, I'm trying.
2:30
Speaker 1: I'm trying to get rests attention is an all big
2:32
Speaker 1: tent holder. I was just trying to get his attention
2:34
Speaker 1: here of how we're how we get that that hold down.
2:36
Speaker 1: I mean, that's why he's the long time you get
2:40
Speaker 1: to talk about your holding experience and you don't.
2:42
Speaker 4: Even take it and run with it. What are you?
2:43
Speaker 1: I was going to get there.
2:44
Speaker 4: I was going to get there, you guys.
2:46
Speaker 5: I was trying to trying to explain all the good
2:48
Speaker 5: things they were, by the way, by the way, they
2:50
Speaker 5: should have had a fifty three yard field goal for
2:52
Speaker 5: the win and overtime, and yeah, I'm Ryan Rico, Like, yeah,
2:56
Speaker 5: he got kind of jammed up by the center, like
2:59
Speaker 5: jammed up year on the inside. So I mean, like
3:02
Speaker 5: we'd like to see the long snapper maybe get that
3:04
Speaker 5: a little bit more outside so it's easier just go
3:06
Speaker 5: right down. But yeah, just kind of as he was
3:08
Speaker 5: trying to bring it from all the way over on
3:10
Speaker 5: the right side down to place it nicely, it kind
3:12
Speaker 5: of dropped right out of his hand. And at that
3:14
Speaker 5: point the timing is totally off and you're not going
3:17
Speaker 5: to make a fifty three yard field goal that way,
3:19
Speaker 5: and that that is unfortunate because that should have been
3:21
Speaker 5: a Bengals walk off winner right there.
3:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, on the heels of the defense making a play
3:27
Speaker 1: as well, it gets you to turnover chance you you're
3:30
Speaker 1: going to leave that stadium house right off. It fell
3:32
Speaker 1: on the ground. They got it, but nonetheless they ended
3:35
Speaker 1: up advancing the football. But I was going back through
3:38
Speaker 1: this and watching it, the first thing I wanted to
3:40
Speaker 1: watch was on the Cincinnati Bengal side of things. I
3:42
Speaker 1: wanted you guys do the negative so I could do
3:43
Speaker 1: the positive. Jamar Chase, You if you're a Jamar Chase's
3:47
Speaker 1: agent and you want to argue for him to be
3:49
Speaker 1: the highest paid receiver in the NFL. Just put on
3:52
Speaker 1: this tape. I mean it was ten for a buck
3:54
Speaker 1: ninety three, but it was everything. It was the change
3:57
Speaker 1: of directing, the change of direction, quickness, it's walling guys off,
4:01
Speaker 1: it's being physical, it's understanding how the tempo routes, option routes,
4:05
Speaker 1: having a field there, taking a quick hitter in the flat,
4:08
Speaker 1: taking its seventy for yards after the catch. You know, Bucket,
4:12
Speaker 1: if you watch this Bengals offense and never turned over
4:15
Speaker 1: to the other side of the ball, you'd be like,
4:16
Speaker 1: oh man, this might be this could be a super
4:18
Speaker 1: Bowl team. They look like they're humming with Joe Burrow. Offensively,
4:21
Speaker 1: that's going to get lost because they're one and four
4:23
Speaker 1: because their defense is terrible.
4:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, the defense is terrible, and so it's on Zach
4:28
Speaker 2: Taylor to figure out a way to game plan to
4:30
Speaker 2: play with the team that is offensive dominant. So does
4:32
Speaker 2: that mean maybe slow things down and allow your offense
4:35
Speaker 2: to be the best defense? Does that mean speed it
4:37
Speaker 2: up so you can put tremendous pressure on the opponent
4:40
Speaker 2: and make them get out of a double dimensional plan
4:43
Speaker 2: where they just have to run it all the time.
4:45
Speaker 3: I mean, they have to throw it all the time
4:46
Speaker 3: and they can't run it. I don't know.
4:48
Speaker 2: I just know this when I see Jamar Chase and
4:50
Speaker 2: T Higgins and Joe Burrow lighting it up. They're wasting
4:53
Speaker 2: those performances by not being good enough on defense. It's
4:57
Speaker 2: now on Zach Taylor to figure out how to manage
4:59
Speaker 2: the game with an offense as prolific and a defense
5:02
Speaker 2: as porus.
5:04
Speaker 5: Uh man, that is, like you see this as that
5:08
Speaker 5: is probably the last year you're gonna have both those
5:10
Speaker 5: guys lining up for you. I mean, depending on what
5:12
Speaker 5: happens with the T Higgins situation, you know, playing on
5:14
Speaker 5: a franchise tag, and then obviously with the Jamar Chase
5:17
Speaker 5: contract situation, that price only going up and they've got
5:20
Speaker 5: not a lot to show for it right now, sitting
5:22
Speaker 5: here at one and four. I want to say though,
5:24
Speaker 5: on the raven side of things, guys, I mean this,
5:28
Speaker 5: if this is what they look like on offense, watch
5:33
Speaker 5: right when Derek Henry's rolling, plus you're still having Lamar throw,
5:37
Speaker 5: you know, for five touchdowns like this is and that
5:40
Speaker 5: was an incredible effort from this offense all around. You know,
5:45
Speaker 5: the one thing that I was encouraged by is they
5:47
Speaker 5: got say Flowers going in this game. You know, Zay
5:49
Speaker 5: was a guy who was really popular with us in
5:51
Speaker 5: our rookie drafts last year, right, and you know he
5:54
Speaker 5: was a guy you could count on five, six, seven
5:56
Speaker 5: catches a game. He had gone really quiet in the
5:58
Speaker 5: last two weeks and actually was kind of seldom used.
6:01
Speaker 5: You had just thirty one snaps the last two games
6:04
Speaker 5: combined coming into this one. He ends up on the
6:06
Speaker 5: field for forty one reps in this game and catches
6:09
Speaker 5: seven balls from Lamar Jackson's targeted a bunch. When you
6:12
Speaker 5: get him and man coverage crossing the field, it's like
6:15
Speaker 5: game over. And then obviously put the ball in his
6:17
Speaker 5: hands quickly let him go make a play. That's just
6:19
Speaker 5: such a dynamic piece to this offense that when you
6:22
Speaker 5: combine it with Charlie Kohler and Mark Andrews and Isaiah
6:25
Speaker 5: Likely in the tight ends and then a power run game,
6:27
Speaker 5: how do you defend that?
6:28
Speaker 4: Buck?
6:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how you defend it because just
6:31
Speaker 2: starting at the top, when you think about Lamar Jackson
6:34
Speaker 2: and Dereck Henry, I don't know how you find that
6:35
Speaker 2: combination the fact that the Baltimore Ravens are leaning into
6:38
Speaker 2: the run. One of the first teams to go over
6:41
Speaker 2: one thousand yards in five games. They've outrushed each of
6:44
Speaker 2: their opponents by one hundred yards in each of those contests.
6:48
Speaker 2: That is crazy when you think about how physical they are,
6:52
Speaker 2: how they're able to really come with you with force.
6:55
Speaker 2: But Lamar Jackson is still able to deliver the big
6:58
Speaker 2: plays that you need in the passing game to keep
7:00
Speaker 2: the defense at bay. I didn't think that it much
7:04
Speaker 2: and Tom Micket would be able to evolve this offense
7:07
Speaker 2: while retaining the identity of the Baltimore Ravens as a
7:09
Speaker 2: smash my football team. But he's done it, and it's
7:12
Speaker 2: one of those offenses that you love to watch.
7:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's versatile. I went through all those A Flowers
7:17
Speaker 1: targets and watch those this morning, and you know, you
7:20
Speaker 1: talk about winning at the line of scrimmage. With the release,
7:22
Speaker 1: they get some bunch of stuff to free him up.
7:24
Speaker 1: He wins. It's over.
7:25
Speaker 3: Uh.
7:26
Speaker 1: That was excellent and he might be as good. And
7:28
Speaker 1: I know he's a young player, but if you want
7:30
Speaker 1: to just watch a full speed outcut and watch someone
7:33
Speaker 1: just rip through that thing without gearing down like out.
7:37
Speaker 4: That was special.
7:38
Speaker 1: Ye gosh, she did it a couple of times, so
7:40
Speaker 1: he's he's a fun one. But again, the Lamar Jackson game,
7:43
Speaker 1: huge win for the Ravens. Got to get the ball down.
7:45
Speaker 1: We need got to get the holder to get the
7:47
Speaker 1: ball down. I know Rhett was. We were kind of
7:49
Speaker 1: joking with threat, but he was. Rhett was an all
7:51
Speaker 1: big ten holder, So that's with experience. He's blaming the
7:54
Speaker 1: long snapper. Neither hearing her there. All right, let's get
7:57
Speaker 1: keep it going here. Let's go to the next game here.
7:59
Speaker 1: Buffalo Houston Buck Buffalo. All that talk we did about
8:02
Speaker 1: third downs with them and who's going to be their guy?
8:05
Speaker 1: Khalio Shakir not not playing in this ballgame. They're three
8:08
Speaker 1: for fourteen on third down offensively, Josh Allen, I mean
8:12
Speaker 1: they completed thirty percent of his passes. So it was
8:16
Speaker 1: a struggle bust for them offensively.
8:19
Speaker 3: This was the biggest fear of they had with the
8:20
Speaker 3: Buffalo Bills.
8:21
Speaker 2: Like it's great to do it by committee, but when
8:23
Speaker 2: you play these big, heavyweight games against teams that are
8:27
Speaker 2: legitimate contenders, do they have enough firepower on the perimeter
8:30
Speaker 2: and We can talk about Josh Allen doing the Pad
8:33
Speaker 2: Mahomes thing elevating them, but we've seen Pat Mahomes have
8:35
Speaker 2: difficulty elevating those around him if they're not at the
8:39
Speaker 2: top tier. And what we see from Buffalo when they
8:42
Speaker 2: needed them to win against an elite team in the
8:44
Speaker 2: Houston Texans, the guys on the perimeter canme win and
8:47
Speaker 2: that puts an annoyting amount of stress on Josh Allen
8:49
Speaker 2: and he wasn't able to deliver on Sunday.
8:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, that was tough to watch. I mean a little
8:54
Speaker 4: bit too.
8:54
Speaker 5: Obviously took a huge hit in this game and you know,
8:57
Speaker 5: ended up coming back into the game fortunately for Buffalo.
9:00
Speaker 5: Hope everything stays on the up and up for Josh
9:03
Speaker 5: on that front here moving forward this week. But guys,
9:07
Speaker 5: you know, and we can get to all the things
9:08
Speaker 5: that won the Texans the game. And I don't know
9:10
Speaker 5: that this piece that I'm going to talk about was
9:13
Speaker 5: vital to the victory, but it was certainly a part
9:16
Speaker 5: of it and deserves some real recognition here, especially this
9:19
Speaker 5: month as we celebrate and kind of promote the crucial
9:22
Speaker 5: Catch initiative and cancer screenings and awareness. Dylan Horton who
9:27
Speaker 5: is diagnosed with stage four Hodgkins lymphoma after being drafted
9:31
Speaker 5: out of TCU by the Texans eleven months later after
9:35
Speaker 5: the diagnosis, he's on the field place fourteen reps on
9:38
Speaker 5: the offensive line or on the defensive front for the
9:41
Speaker 5: Texans here and look, I went and watched all of them,
9:43
Speaker 5: just wanted to see, you know what that looked like.
9:45
Speaker 5: And you know, he had a couple of welcome to
9:47
Speaker 5: the NFL moments with Dean Dawkins. You go one on
9:50
Speaker 5: one against one of the best left tackles, that's tough,
9:52
Speaker 5: but man, he sets the edge beautifully on a tackle
9:55
Speaker 5: for loss against Spencer Brown at right tackle menaes Or
9:58
Speaker 5: for Buffalo.
10:00
Speaker 4: I think that that was just a really cool.
10:02
Speaker 5: Piece of a nice victory against a good team for
10:05
Speaker 5: the Houston Texans and something obviously for Dylan Horton to
10:08
Speaker 5: build on. So a little hat tip to all that
10:10
Speaker 5: he was able to accomplish.
10:13
Speaker 1: Real quick from me, go around the horn here, buck,
10:15
Speaker 1: and then follow up, I mean, would you Houston? Should
10:19
Speaker 1: Houston be scared of anybody in the AFC at this
10:21
Speaker 1: point in time if postseason starts tomorrow, Yeah?
10:28
Speaker 3: I think I think Joe I think Joe Mix and
10:30
Speaker 3: his X factor.
10:31
Speaker 2: Their ability to have a balanced running game is critical
10:33
Speaker 2: because you just don't want c J.
10:34
Speaker 3: Stroud thrown it all over the yard.
10:36
Speaker 2: But let's be honest about a Houston Texas Nico Collins
10:39
Speaker 2: as the top five receiver. You have Stefan Diggs who
10:41
Speaker 2: can win in the slat with tank dial. You didn't
10:43
Speaker 2: think about what c J. Stroud is as a pass.
10:46
Speaker 2: If you put the solid running game behind him, they
10:49
Speaker 2: can win a shootout.
10:50
Speaker 3: They can win a grinded out of fair have you
10:51
Speaker 3: want to.
10:52
Speaker 2: Play, They can do it, but it's defensively with Dimiko
10:54
Speaker 2: Ryans really puts his stamp on this team. They're tough,
10:58
Speaker 2: they're physical, the aggressive. He just has a great sense
11:01
Speaker 2: of making adjustments in game. Very difficult team to deal with.
11:05
Speaker 2: They're going to be one of those teams is hanging
11:06
Speaker 2: around the last week or two of the postseason generally.
11:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, again, just going back, you know you, I mean,
11:13
Speaker 5: get Joe Mixon back at Damian Pierce. They've been without
11:16
Speaker 5: both those guys, right, so they've been playing with RB
11:18
Speaker 5: three and four. Daria Gumbawles getting a ton of carries here,
11:21
Speaker 5: caught that game winner a week ago for the Texans,
11:24
Speaker 5: and now you know, is a guy that they've relied on.
11:27
Speaker 5: So I think the other thing about it, like the
11:29
Speaker 5: Stefan Diggs acquisition was obviously you know, big, just to
11:32
Speaker 5: kind of continue to give the Texas another layer, but
11:36
Speaker 5: it also provides like some competitive depth security, right, Like
11:39
Speaker 5: Nico Collins went down with a hamstring injury, was out,
11:42
Speaker 5: and you still got two A list type receivers and
11:45
Speaker 5: Tank and stuff. I don't know how many teams can
11:47
Speaker 5: say that, right, Tank Dell went down and was out
11:49
Speaker 5: for a week, and again you've got Digs and Collins, Like,
11:52
Speaker 5: how many teams can.
11:53
Speaker 4: Say that they really have that type of wide.
11:55
Speaker 5: Receiver group that can make up for the loss of
11:57
Speaker 5: a top tier player like you guys are talking about.
12:00
Speaker 4: And we'll see how long NCO's out. But CJ.
12:02
Speaker 5: Stroud, if you're open, he's gonna find you. And they
12:05
Speaker 5: got guys that can get open. So it's a good combination.
12:08
Speaker 1: I just in the AFC landscape coaching scheme, offense, defense, playmakers, offense, defense,
12:15
Speaker 1: front to back, on defense, inside, outside, on offense. I mean,
12:19
Speaker 1: it's a really complete team. It's pretty remarkable to be
12:22
Speaker 1: picking as high as they were in the draft, you know,
12:24
Speaker 1: literally a year ago over a year show, and they
12:27
Speaker 1: flipped this whole thing to like if they were in
12:29
Speaker 1: the Super Bowl at the end of the year, I
12:30
Speaker 1: don't think any of the three of us would be shocked.
12:32
Speaker 1: Like that's incredible how quickly they've completed a roster here.
12:36
Speaker 1: I Nick Cassiri done a really nice job. All right,
12:38
Speaker 1: let's get to the Sunday night game Dallas and Pittsburgh.
12:42
Speaker 1: I'll lead us off on this one. Dallas, it felt
12:45
Speaker 1: like just kind of spreading the ball around. I was
12:46
Speaker 1: excited to watch the Jalen Tolbert tape this morning because
12:49
Speaker 1: he had seven for eight eighty nine and a touchdown.
12:53
Speaker 1: I watched all of his targets. I didn't see like
12:55
Speaker 1: this dynamic, explosive player. I didn't say anything. They just
12:58
Speaker 1: kind of like, was just kind of wowed me. Saw hey,
13:01
Speaker 1: he just kind of looked They kind of he leaks
13:02
Speaker 1: down the sideline. That Pittsburgh has busted coverages now for
13:05
Speaker 1: as much talent as they have on defense. I saw
13:07
Speaker 1: the Charger game. They did it twice. They busted some
13:10
Speaker 1: coverage in that game against the Cowboys last night as well.
13:13
Speaker 1: But Tolbert catches the game winner just on a mesh route,
13:15
Speaker 1: just crossing and Dak makes a nice throw. There was
13:18
Speaker 1: nothing unique or special about that. But rhtt, I'll get
13:21
Speaker 1: to you on this. The thing that stood out. They
13:25
Speaker 1: have five guys with a catch over twenty yards in
13:27
Speaker 1: this game. So you're watching that tape, there's nothing that
13:30
Speaker 1: just blows you away, but you're just I thought Dak
13:32
Speaker 1: played a clean game and just he let the game
13:35
Speaker 1: dictate to him where the ball was going. And I
13:37
Speaker 1: think sometimes that's when you see big quarterback days.
13:41
Speaker 4: I would agree with you on that.
13:42
Speaker 5: And you know, the other thing I would say that
13:44
Speaker 5: that is kind of special is the attention to detail
13:47
Speaker 5: though from Tolbert. On that mesh route, right, he gets
13:49
Speaker 5: bumped off a little bit down south of the goal
13:52
Speaker 5: line and then subtly makes his way back across the
13:55
Speaker 5: goal line there because if he catches that ball, you know,
13:58
Speaker 5: a couple of inches before the goal line, he was
13:59
Speaker 5: tacked right away like it was still pretty tight coverage
14:02
Speaker 5: on him. So the fact that he was able to
14:04
Speaker 5: get back in and across the goal line by the
14:06
Speaker 5: time that Dak fed him the ball obviously ended up
14:09
Speaker 5: proving huge on a fourth and goal there with the
14:11
Speaker 5: game on the line. So the attention to detail there
14:14
Speaker 5: in a real big moment something.
14:15
Speaker 4: You like to see.
14:16
Speaker 5: Obviously, I thought they just they stayed on the field
14:19
Speaker 5: outside of the Dak turnovers, which were not good throws,
14:22
Speaker 5: not good decisions on third down, I thought it was
14:25
Speaker 5: really important, like they stayed on the field. They had
14:29
Speaker 5: fifteen third downs in this game, and only four of
14:31
Speaker 5: them were third and six for more than third and six,
14:35
Speaker 5: So eleven of their third downs were all third and
14:38
Speaker 5: six are manageable or even more manageable than that, And
14:41
Speaker 5: they converted on eight of their last eleven of them,
14:43
Speaker 5: which I thought was huge. Then on the fourth down
14:44
Speaker 5: obviously to essentially win the game. But when you could
14:48
Speaker 5: stay on the field, you give your playmakers opportunities to
14:50
Speaker 5: go and make those catches for twenty plus when you're
14:52
Speaker 5: getting three and out, three and out and you're not
14:54
Speaker 5: converting on third down and you're turning the ball back
14:56
Speaker 5: to the Steelers like and that's why you see that
14:59
Speaker 5: play disparity.
15:00
Speaker 4: They had the ball.
15:00
Speaker 5: They ran twenty two more plays or eighteen more plays
15:03
Speaker 5: than the Steelers did in this game. And when you
15:05
Speaker 5: have a limited possession type of game, and you can
15:08
Speaker 5: extend those drives, you're going to be in a better
15:10
Speaker 5: chance to come out on the winning side there, Buck.
15:12
Speaker 3: Yeah.
15:13
Speaker 2: No, what's interesting about this is there was a lot
15:16
Speaker 2: of conversation about, like Mike toml call the time out
15:18
Speaker 2: of the trying to set.
15:19
Speaker 3: His defense to deal with the mesh route.
15:21
Speaker 2: And I would say this, if you go back and
15:23
Speaker 2: look at the video, I mean, it was a perfect switch.
15:25
Speaker 2: The corners on the outside, the safety to his inside
15:28
Speaker 2: is going to switch with them, going to take the
15:30
Speaker 2: crossing route across the field. He's right there in really
15:33
Speaker 2: good position. Then you see the safety jump it. He
15:35
Speaker 2: comes across, plays over the top of the pick. Sometimes
15:38
Speaker 2: the other guy just wins because of the execution. I
15:41
Speaker 2: felt like this was a really good game for the
15:43
Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys. And the reason why it was a good
15:45
Speaker 2: game for the Cowboys because the Cowboys had to morph
15:47
Speaker 2: into a blue collar team. They don't have the glitz
15:50
Speaker 2: and glam to be able to win people with star power.
15:52
Speaker 2: So we saw them play a complimentary game where they
15:54
Speaker 2: ran the football. You saw Dak Prescott played like a
15:57
Speaker 2: star when they needed to play in the pass game,
15:59
Speaker 2: and then defense they made it enough place we get
16:01
Speaker 2: talk about the still his offense being hamstrung or whatever
16:05
Speaker 2: buy feels.
16:06
Speaker 3: But overall, if you're Dallas, you feel great about this.
16:09
Speaker 2: And because you've got a skin on the wall in
16:11
Speaker 2: terms of playing blue collar football, you absolutely can make
16:14
Speaker 2: this your identity going forward.
16:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, quick thought on the Steelers and then we'll take
16:20
Speaker 1: a break here, But three of twelve on third downs,
16:23
Speaker 1: there's gonna be conversations and at least whispers from the
16:25
Speaker 1: outside about, Okay, you know, Russell Wilson's healthy, do we
16:29
Speaker 1: make that switch? Does he just give you more in
16:31
Speaker 1: the pass game than what fields can give you. I
16:33
Speaker 1: just think this is kind of the way the Steelers
16:35
Speaker 1: are going to play, whether it's with you know, justin
16:38
Speaker 1: Fields or with Russell Wilson. It's kind of a narrow
16:41
Speaker 1: path for how they win games. The defense, you know,
16:43
Speaker 1: has to play great, and they're gonna be in a
16:45
Speaker 1: lot of these twenty seventeen seventeen thirteen like that's just
16:50
Speaker 1: how they're going to play right now. They don't have
16:52
Speaker 1: enough firepower on the outside, no matter who's playing quarterback,
16:55
Speaker 1: to find their way and play in these dynamic, you know,
16:58
Speaker 1: crazy shootout type games. They're gonna be these nail biters,
17:00
Speaker 1: and they've got to find a way to make the play.
17:02
Speaker 1: At the end of the day, Buck, this described it perfectly.
17:05
Speaker 1: They had great coverage, they communicated it well on the
17:08
Speaker 1: game deciding play. They they got beat. But that's the
17:12
Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steelers team that we have right now. They're gonna
17:15
Speaker 1: be playing these games each and every week. So they
17:18
Speaker 1: just got to find to come out on the on
17:19
Speaker 1: the winning side of it more often than not. And
17:22
Speaker 1: that's gonna be the challenge for this Pittsburgh Steelers team.
17:29
Speaker 1: Let's keep it going here, Let's get to the NFC
17:31
Speaker 1: West Buck Arizona, San Francisco. I mean, I feel like
17:36
Speaker 1: I've been starting on the negative side of things with
17:38
Speaker 1: a lot of these games. So let's let's flip it over.
17:41
Speaker 1: Let's go to the positive first here at the Arizona
17:43
Speaker 1: Cardinals two and three. The record doesn't blow you away,
17:45
Speaker 1: but I still feel like, if you're looking at the
17:47
Speaker 1: trend line for an organization, I feel like the Cardinals
17:49
Speaker 1: are headed in the right direction.
17:51
Speaker 2: I do feel like they're hitting in the right direction,
17:53
Speaker 2: and the large part of that is due to Caler
17:55
Speaker 2: Murray is coming back. I love seeing Caler Murray run
17:59
Speaker 2: the ball. I like seeing him being all the way
18:01
Speaker 2: back from the knee injury. And I love the fact
18:03
Speaker 2: that he can wave by by in the middle of
18:05
Speaker 2: the run when he's forty five yards away from the
18:07
Speaker 2: touch from the end zone. Right here, go to quarterback thing,
18:10
Speaker 2: pebe I'm going, I mean like I'm going to the house.
18:13
Speaker 3: Like that's high school type stuff. But Kyer Murray being
18:16
Speaker 3: able to do that.
18:18
Speaker 2: This NFC West is going to be interesting because the
18:21
Speaker 2: Seattle Seahawks jumped out, they faded a little bit, the
18:23
Speaker 2: forty nine ers are dealing with the hangover, and here
18:25
Speaker 2: you have the card and it was just kind of
18:27
Speaker 2: hanging around. It'd be interesting to see how this plays
18:30
Speaker 2: out when we get to the stretch run November December.
18:33
Speaker 5: And you know, for Arizona, I feel like there's still
18:35
Speaker 5: some pieces of this offense that you know, you're not
18:38
Speaker 5: seeing consistently, Like, boy, is Marvin Harrison ridden the roller
18:41
Speaker 5: coaster right this year? You know, goes from very little
18:44
Speaker 5: impact week one, then goes off in week two and
18:47
Speaker 5: we've kind of ploateaued a little bit, and then we
18:49
Speaker 5: go down, you know a little bit in this game
18:51
Speaker 5: where he catches just two balls on seven targets. And
18:54
Speaker 5: then you know, we haven't really seen Trey Benson do
18:57
Speaker 5: hardly anything, and we didn't he didn't touch the ball
19:00
Speaker 5: this last week. I mean, how many teams have you
19:02
Speaker 5: guys seen, you know, on a week to week basis
19:05
Speaker 5: that only handed off to one guy. That's what happened
19:08
Speaker 5: for the Cardinals in this game, only handed it to
19:10
Speaker 5: James Connor. Now, obviously, you know when you got Kyler
19:13
Speaker 5: Murray running it seven times for eighty yards, that changes.
19:16
Speaker 4: The calculus a little bit too.
19:17
Speaker 5: But like they did not spell Connor in order to
19:20
Speaker 5: get somebody else to carry in this game. And then
19:22
Speaker 5: you know, Benson didn't have any pass game production either.
19:24
Speaker 5: So I think there's ways that this offense is my
19:27
Speaker 5: point here, DJ is going to get even better. And
19:30
Speaker 5: then on the flip side of things for the Niners,
19:33
Speaker 5: I think it ultimately just comes down to turnovers here.
19:35
Speaker 5: I mean, Jordan Mason has that fumble, it ends up
19:37
Speaker 5: costing them. You know, they run twenty one plays in
19:40
Speaker 5: the red zone and come away with a singular touchdown.
19:44
Speaker 5: That's got to change if you're going to be a
19:45
Speaker 5: good team in this league.
19:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, they just look a little lethargic. You see the
19:49
Speaker 1: little note on the screen that we're looking at here.
19:51
Speaker 1: They blew a ten point fourth quarter lead for the
19:52
Speaker 1: first time. Understand they've been thirty eight and oh so
19:56
Speaker 1: that's that's something they just don't do. Look, Nick Bosa
20:00
Speaker 1: makes a big time splash play. They still have all
20:03
Speaker 1: the ingredients there. I don't I've seen this in other sports. Buck,
20:08
Speaker 1: I'll get your thoughts on this before we move on
20:09
Speaker 1: to the next game. But I feel like the Niners
20:12
Speaker 1: just kind of they kind of feel like that NBA
20:15
Speaker 1: team that knows they're going to be in the postseason.
20:17
Speaker 1: And I'm not going to say and even I guess
20:19
Speaker 1: you could say load management. Obviously McCaffrey is legitimately hurt,
20:22
Speaker 1: but it just kind of feels like we're just let's
20:24
Speaker 1: get to the tournament. Like they're kind of they look
20:26
Speaker 1: almost bored and a little bit magic right now, you
20:30
Speaker 1: know what I mean. That's what it looks like.
20:34
Speaker 2: It's hard when you are you've been there, you go
20:37
Speaker 2: to the pinnacle, but you fall a little short. The
20:39
Speaker 2: only thing that the Niners want to do is they
20:41
Speaker 2: want to advantage the loss in the super Bowl. There's
20:43
Speaker 2: nothing that they can do in the regular season to
20:45
Speaker 2: bring that filling back. There's nothing to accomplish in the
20:47
Speaker 2: early part of the postseason. They need to get to
20:50
Speaker 2: the super Bowl and they need to find a way
20:52
Speaker 2: to win the Super Bowl, and so it's hard.
20:54
Speaker 3: For them to stay focused in locked in.
20:56
Speaker 2: That's the challenge that Kyle Shanahan has because it's not
20:59
Speaker 2: about the team.
21:00
Speaker 3: It's not about the talent.
21:00
Speaker 2: We could talk about some of the execution, but that
21:03
Speaker 2: execution is due to a lack of focus. This team
21:06
Speaker 2: is talented enough to be one of the teams in
21:08
Speaker 2: the end, but can they be focused enough to go
21:11
Speaker 2: through all of the necessary steps to put them in
21:13
Speaker 2: a position to be there.
21:14
Speaker 3: At the end?
21:15
Speaker 1: YEP, I'm with you, and that's you know, everything's got
21:18
Speaker 1: to be in its place in the process. You can't
21:20
Speaker 1: try and skip steps. You still got to do what
21:22
Speaker 1: you gotta do to get there. So we'll see what
21:24
Speaker 1: happens with the Niners going forward. They are two and
21:26
Speaker 1: three along with the Arizona Cardinals. All right, Green Bay
21:29
Speaker 1: and the Rams in Los Angeles.
21:31
Speaker 3: Rhtt.
21:32
Speaker 1: This is a this is a Green Bay team. It
21:34
Speaker 1: wasn't perfect. It wasn't always pretty, but they get the
21:38
Speaker 1: W and the Rams are sitting here at one and
21:40
Speaker 1: four maybe one of the surprises in the NFL considering
21:43
Speaker 1: how they finished up last year. Obviously injuries a big
21:46
Speaker 1: part of.
21:46
Speaker 4: That, yeah, for sure.
21:48
Speaker 5: And you know, I think anytime you're missing you know,
21:50
Speaker 5: two out of the three biggest pieces of your offense,
21:53
Speaker 5: you know, for the majority of the season, you're gonna
21:55
Speaker 5: you're gonna be.
21:55
Speaker 4: A little bit of trouble.
21:57
Speaker 5: And look, I think it's that's part of why you're seeing,
21:59
Speaker 5: you know, the forty niner struggle too.
22:00
Speaker 4: I mean, no Christian McCaffrey.
22:02
Speaker 5: While Jordan Mason has been good, you know, still not
22:05
Speaker 5: quite as dynamic, you.
22:06
Speaker 4: Know, as McCaffrey would be.
22:07
Speaker 5: And I think that that's kind of the same as
22:09
Speaker 5: you look at Cooper Cup and Pooka and Akua being
22:11
Speaker 5: out to to out well and Jordan Whittington have been
22:14
Speaker 5: you know good. I think Whittington as best game as
22:16
Speaker 5: a pro in my eyes. And this one caught seven
22:18
Speaker 5: balls for raty nine yards, a couple of those big
22:20
Speaker 5: as they were on the comeback run here, I mean
22:22
Speaker 5: they got close here in this game now like this
22:24
Speaker 5: was they were they had the ball with under a
22:27
Speaker 5: minute to play, you know, going in for you know,
22:29
Speaker 5: potential game. When he scored, they're in plus territory and
22:32
Speaker 5: on fourth down. You know, Stafford just can't quite connect
22:35
Speaker 5: with Parkinson over the middle like they had their opportunities
22:38
Speaker 5: in this game. You know, they'll look at the interception
22:41
Speaker 5: by Stafford. You don't want to have that back. But
22:43
Speaker 5: they ran seventy five plays like they're you know, they
22:46
Speaker 5: were running the ball pretty good. I mean, Kyron goes
22:48
Speaker 5: for over one hundred. It's just they're missing that that
22:51
Speaker 5: explosive factor, it felt like to me. But I think
22:54
Speaker 5: the Rams, if they get those guys back, I'm not
22:56
Speaker 5: counting that team out in any way, shape or form.
22:58
Speaker 5: Good news on the packer side of things, I mean
23:02
Speaker 5: Tucker Craft stud right, I mean I thought Musgrave was
23:05
Speaker 5: going to kind of be the guy to follow this
23:07
Speaker 5: year at the tight ends spot Craft.
23:09
Speaker 1: That's exactly where I was going. It was exactly where
23:11
Speaker 1: I was going because I was gonna get the Bucky
23:13
Speaker 1: on this because we've talked about this so many times.
23:15
Speaker 1: This was the second round pick and Musgrave. Then you
23:18
Speaker 1: come back and you get Craft in the third round.
23:20
Speaker 1: You double up at a position, and we talked about
23:22
Speaker 1: this every single draft after the draft. How many times
23:25
Speaker 1: have we seen the double up at the position the
23:27
Speaker 1: second guy ends up being better than the first guy.
23:29
Speaker 2: Buck, Yeah, I mean we see it time and time again.
23:32
Speaker 2: And it's one of the things Baltimore has done it.
23:35
Speaker 2: We saw them do it, I think, Isaiah. Yeah, I mean,
23:40
Speaker 2: they've done it time and time again. But for the
23:42
Speaker 2: Green Bay Packers, look has worked out and Kraft being
23:46
Speaker 2: able to make plays down the field. You have musk
23:49
Speaker 2: Grave there, you have all these young receivers there. Now,
23:53
Speaker 2: we did get our first sound of trouble in paradise
23:56
Speaker 2: from your Dobbs gets suspended for the game because he's.
23:58
Speaker 3: Not happy with the touches. That's what you have.
24:00
Speaker 2: When you got a bunch of guys that I won't
24:02
Speaker 2: say are similarly talented, but you got a bunch of
24:05
Speaker 2: guys ad buying to be the top option in the
24:07
Speaker 2: pass game, you go have some of that competitive stuff
24:10
Speaker 2: that leads to it. But you gotta love the diversity
24:12
Speaker 2: that the Green Bay Packers have by having so many
24:15
Speaker 2: weapons on the perimeter. They just need to figure out
24:18
Speaker 2: which one is a hot hand each week.
24:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it's uh, it's the pecking order there is
24:24
Speaker 1: going to be fascinating to follow throughout the whole season.
24:25
Speaker 1: I think that's a very intriguing storyline with the Green
24:28
Speaker 1: Bay Packer.
24:28
Speaker 5: To get the ball to Jayden Reid right to me,
24:30
Speaker 5: that's that's there, that's the most the mostynamic.
24:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's our most dynamic guy. All right, it's uh,
24:37
Speaker 1: it's time the cruise all the way over to London
24:41
Speaker 1: because this is where we had a very interesting game
24:43
Speaker 1: between the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Jets, a
24:48
Speaker 1: game the Vikings were in control of early and just
24:50
Speaker 1: kind of did nothing in the second half, held on
24:53
Speaker 1: and got enough turnovers there from Aaron Rodgers to get
24:55
Speaker 1: out of there. With the wind. The Vikings are five
24:57
Speaker 1: and zero red. It wasn't always pretty what the Minnesota
25:01
Speaker 1: Vikings did in this game, but again, the defense just
25:03
Speaker 1: continues to make plays and generate turnovers and negative plays.
25:08
Speaker 4: That was certainly the case early on.
25:09
Speaker 5: Is it helped them build the lead, right, they build
25:11
Speaker 5: the lead, and then they played well with it and
25:14
Speaker 5: you know, came back and got the necessary field goals
25:17
Speaker 5: to remain on top in the game. You know, after
25:19
Speaker 5: but it's all about building the lead, and that allows
25:22
Speaker 5: you know the way that they can play that defense.
25:24
Speaker 5: You know with Brian floor is you playing that defense
25:27
Speaker 5: when they've got a double digit lead. I don't want
25:30
Speaker 5: to be that quarterback. And I think Aaron Rodgers Buckey
25:32
Speaker 5: kind of figured that out. He was taking some hits
25:34
Speaker 5: in this game, made some bad throws in this game,
25:36
Speaker 5: bad decisions in this game, uncharacteristic of what.
25:39
Speaker 4: We've seen for the majority of his career.
25:41
Speaker 5: I think that's kind of what this Brian Flores defense
25:44
Speaker 5: has proved to do for team.
25:46
Speaker 4: For quarterback says, kind of humble them a little bit.
25:49
Speaker 2: What do you think, Oh, absolutely, a very humbling experience
25:53
Speaker 2: for Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers with three interceptions. We talked
25:57
Speaker 2: about fifty plus pass attempts, and.
25:59
Speaker 3: He just looked. He never looked comfortable.
26:01
Speaker 2: And I know as an aging quarterback you don't like
26:04
Speaker 2: getting hit. But the one thing that the Minnesota Vikings
26:06
Speaker 2: are going to do, they are going to hit your
26:08
Speaker 2: quarterback because they're going to do enough simulated pressures to
26:11
Speaker 2: go with their real pressures. Dead on occasion, they gonna
26:13
Speaker 2: get free runners. But that's the stuff Van Ginko dropping
26:18
Speaker 2: out they play. They put so much pressure on you,
26:21
Speaker 2: not physically but mentally because you just never know where
26:24
Speaker 2: these defenders are going to pop up out the ground
26:26
Speaker 2: and end up in your passing.
26:28
Speaker 1: Like on the on the other side of things, by
26:30
Speaker 1: the way you go over to the Jets, Garrett Wilson,
26:32
Speaker 1: I believe the target number was twenty two thirteen. It
26:36
Speaker 1: was one hundred and one yards targets. But it's all
26:41
Speaker 1: all the production is still quick hitters, it's slants, it's
26:44
Speaker 1: now routes, it's just getting the ball to them right away.
26:47
Speaker 1: I still feel like they're missing opportunities with him to
26:51
Speaker 1: get something more down the field and let him show
26:54
Speaker 1: all that he can do. I mean, I was glad
26:56
Speaker 1: they're feeding him a bunch of Alanizzard still gets a
26:58
Speaker 1: ton of targets. Mike Williams has not been either healthy
27:02
Speaker 1: or a fit because it doesn't get many many targets
27:04
Speaker 1: and they're not on the same page. On the crucial
27:07
Speaker 1: interception at the end of the game where he's late
27:08
Speaker 1: to turn his head, Rogers tries to throw a back
27:11
Speaker 1: shoulder to him. That just it hasn't been a fit
27:13
Speaker 1: there for Mike Williams. With Aaron Rodgers. Go ahead, rit, Yeah.
27:17
Speaker 5: Just real quick on this, Like if we're talking about
27:19
Speaker 5: DeVante Adams coming in here, like what is he what
27:22
Speaker 5: does he do that's going to make this offensive?
27:25
Speaker 1: Errett Wilson, That's what he does.
27:29
Speaker 5: Garrett Wilson's targets get get drastically diminished, and everybody's still
27:32
Speaker 5: running slants.
27:33
Speaker 4: I don't know, does he make them more dynamic?
27:37
Speaker 3: Maybe?
27:37
Speaker 4: Maybe then you can say Wilson down the field more.
27:40
Speaker 1: I did a breakdown on their kind of issues not
27:43
Speaker 1: being on the same page with Garrett Wilson and with
27:45
Speaker 1: with a rod and Buck you can you can jump
27:48
Speaker 1: in on this because like just some of the little
27:51
Speaker 1: the Aaron let me start here. What made Aaron Rodgers
27:55
Speaker 1: the incredible quarterback that he is and the best quarterback
27:58
Speaker 1: for a long stretch of time. Was it free? We
28:00
Speaker 1: had two schools of quarterbacks. You had these strong arm
28:04
Speaker 1: you know, dynamic arm footballs and tight windows power arms,
28:08
Speaker 1: and then you had the anticipation, timing touch throwers. You
28:12
Speaker 1: were a quarterback, you were in one of those two camps.
28:14
Speaker 1: I think he's the first one who was a plus
28:17
Speaker 1: plus at both, so he could he could throw with anticipation.
28:21
Speaker 1: But then still had rare, rare velocity and just a
28:25
Speaker 1: power arm to go along with it. But he plays
28:28
Speaker 1: the game with anticipation. And when you're trying to throw
28:30
Speaker 1: an out route and Garrett Wilson gives you a little
28:32
Speaker 1: extra at the top, well, he doesn't want you to
28:34
Speaker 1: do that. He wants to throw it when his backfitt
28:36
Speaker 1: hits the ground and that ball has been skipping out
28:38
Speaker 1: of bounds early in the season, even on some of
28:41
Speaker 1: the slant routes. It just didn't look like they were
28:43
Speaker 1: on the same page about the angle and how flat
28:45
Speaker 1: he wants to throw the ball. The Niner game to
28:48
Speaker 1: start the season, on the big fourth down, They're not
28:50
Speaker 1: really on the same page there. So I think with
28:53
Speaker 1: Devanta Adams, you can say, Okay, well, Garrett Wilson's more
28:55
Speaker 1: talented DeVante at this point in time in their careers,
28:58
Speaker 1: and Garrett Wilson's on the ascension, Davante might be on
29:01
Speaker 1: the down side. But I think with Aaron Rodgers is
29:03
Speaker 1: sitting there saying, yeah, but if we read the same
29:05
Speaker 1: if we speak the same language and read out at
29:07
Speaker 1: the same point book, then the production will come along
29:10
Speaker 1: with it. I'm just saying I think Davante. If he
29:13
Speaker 1: goes there, he'll help a rod. But Buck, you've been
29:16
Speaker 1: around it a long time and you've been in that
29:17
Speaker 1: position room. That's not going to go over well Garrett Wilson.
29:20
Speaker 1: That's just my outside in perspective.
29:22
Speaker 2: One hundred percent, because I'm going to tell you a
29:26
Speaker 2: lot of my opinion has been shaped watching the Netflix
29:29
Speaker 2: show Receiver, where you had a chance to see DeVante Adams,
29:32
Speaker 2: and Davante Adams didn't appear to be great when he
29:35
Speaker 2: wasn't getting the ball. And so now you bring him
29:37
Speaker 2: into a wide receiver room where you already have people
29:40
Speaker 2: complaining a little bit about the offense stylistically, not getting
29:44
Speaker 2: touches and all those things, and you also have a
29:47
Speaker 2: young receiver in Garrett Wilson, who was an offensive rookie year,
29:49
Speaker 2: who feels like he is the number one.
29:51
Speaker 3: Well, what does that do to the marquis.
29:53
Speaker 2: If Davante Adams comes in? Do they share the marquee?
29:56
Speaker 2: Does DeVante Adams can see and become the number two?
30:00
Speaker 2: Lot of mouths defeat a lot of egos to stroke
30:02
Speaker 2: It would be a difficult situation to manage if you're
30:05
Speaker 2: Robert Salad, because you've already are wrestling with things with
30:08
Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers.
30:09
Speaker 3: Now you bring in another one of.
30:10
Speaker 2: His guys, I just think it becomes very contentious in
30:13
Speaker 2: that wide receiver room.
30:14
Speaker 1: Anything on that one rhet.
30:17
Speaker 5: I mean, that's kind of the way I was feeling,
30:20
Speaker 5: Like what ultimately, though, what does this do if DeVante
30:24
Speaker 5: comes in?
30:24
Speaker 4: Does this make them a more dynamic offense?
30:27
Speaker 5: Or is it just a shift of the targets and
30:31
Speaker 5: maybe there's a little bit more efficiency there because of
30:34
Speaker 5: the comfortability and the relationship between those two. You know,
30:38
Speaker 5: we'll see, but as of right now, like they're just
30:41
Speaker 5: they're still missing.
30:42
Speaker 4: I mean they weren't.
30:43
Speaker 5: They obviously couldn't run football, but when you're down seventeen
30:46
Speaker 5: early on, I know that makes it a little bit
30:48
Speaker 5: more difficult.
30:48
Speaker 4: But right now I feel pretty dang good. If I'm
30:50
Speaker 4: a Minnesota Vikings.
30:51
Speaker 1: Fan, yep. Now they're five and zero. Wasn't their best performance,
30:54
Speaker 1: but they got to win. A happy flight back home
30:56
Speaker 1: to Minneapolis. Let's get to Bucky's game here Indianapolis Jacksonville,
31:00
Speaker 1: a game that the Jags one thousand percent had to have.
31:04
Speaker 1: So we have a little nug here buck on a
31:08
Speaker 1: receiver that we've been talking about for a while now,
31:10
Speaker 1: Brian Thomas junior at LSU, who's been awesome, But you
31:13
Speaker 1: look at what he's on pace for. He's on pace
31:15
Speaker 1: for a top five season in team history, seventy nine
31:18
Speaker 1: point four receiving yards per game. I wanted to get
31:21
Speaker 1: to you because I haven't asked you this before, but
31:24
Speaker 1: Jimmy Smith, what he did with the Jags, it's a
31:28
Speaker 1: big name with what he did there. But what I'm
31:30
Speaker 1: seeing from this dude, I'm like, this feels like that
31:32
Speaker 1: kind of trajectory that he's on right now.
31:35
Speaker 2: Okay, DJ, I shouldn't do this, but I'm gonna tell
31:38
Speaker 2: you because I've had this conversation with two of my
31:40
Speaker 2: guys on the radio broadcast, Tony Baseli and Jeff Logoman,
31:43
Speaker 2: and Tony.
31:44
Speaker 3: Biselli is outraged.
31:45
Speaker 2: But I already said, reserve a little spot on the
31:48
Speaker 2: top of the stadium for BTJ. There's a little spot
31:51
Speaker 2: in the far right corner that is vacant, and I
31:54
Speaker 2: think it's right beside Mark Brunell. I think there's a
31:57
Speaker 2: spot for BTJ to go in there. He is, outside
32:00
Speaker 2: of Jimmy Smith, the most talented wide receiver that the
32:03
Speaker 2: Jaguars have had.
32:04
Speaker 3: And I'm gonna say this.
32:05
Speaker 2: I know there was conversation about Malik Neighbors and the
32:07
Speaker 2: dog that he has. BTJ has it. It's just in
32:11
Speaker 2: a quiet fashion. His explosiveness, his acceleration with the ball
32:15
Speaker 2: in the air, he is already become. They haven't said it,
32:19
Speaker 2: but he's the unofficial number one receiver. And so with
32:22
Speaker 2: him and Christian Kirk and the big plays that are coming,
32:26
Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence was on his game because the Indianapolis Coast
32:29
Speaker 2: allowed him to get into a rhythm. Ryan Thomas Junior
32:33
Speaker 2: is everything that they hoped he would be and more.
32:36
Speaker 2: This dude is a superstar and it is happening right
32:39
Speaker 2: in front of their ODZ and we're only five games
32:40
Speaker 2: into the season.
32:42
Speaker 5: I got a little little bit of the Jordan Jefferson
32:44
Speaker 5: or the Justin Jefferson.
32:46
Speaker 1: Excuse me, yes, Jamar Chasen and Justerson come out exactly.
32:50
Speaker 5: And now Neighbors and Thomas, like, you know, if you're
32:52
Speaker 5: the Jags at that point, you're like, you know, is
32:55
Speaker 5: Thomas gonna make it?
32:56
Speaker 4: Are we gonna get it?
32:57
Speaker 2: All?
32:57
Speaker 3: Right?
32:58
Speaker 4: Let's go, let's go.
33:00
Speaker 5: They're totally probably sitting there totally fine with the way
33:02
Speaker 5: that that thing played out as it was unfolding, you know,
33:05
Speaker 5: hoping he would get there. I think it's just awesome
33:07
Speaker 5: to watch just that dynamic element that he had to
33:10
Speaker 5: that offense just looks so much different than anything we
33:13
Speaker 5: have seen Bucky from this offense since Trevor Lawrence has
33:17
Speaker 5: been there at minimum.
33:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, uh, Bucky real quick? Does this calm the waters
33:23
Speaker 1: a little bit? Because the Trevor Lawrence criticism and heat,
33:27
Speaker 1: it was getting a little hot in the kitchen.
33:28
Speaker 3: Man, it was getting a little hot in the kitchen.
33:31
Speaker 3: And here's what I would say.
33:33
Speaker 2: One, it was Trevor Lawrence's birthday on Sunday, So happy birthday, Trevor,
33:35
Speaker 2: Happy twenty fifth birthday.
33:37
Speaker 3: Was able to cupcake after you win.
33:40
Speaker 2: But I think the Indianapolis Coats, the style of the
33:42
Speaker 2: defense that Gus Bradley played was the perfect thing for
33:45
Speaker 2: what Trevor Lawrence needed. DJ Rihtt like, well, I don't know.
33:49
Speaker 2: Ritt wasn't really a basketball player. DJ was more of
33:51
Speaker 2: a basketball player. But DJ can get this analogy right now,
33:55
Speaker 2: because I don't think I was played basketball.
33:57
Speaker 3: I thought we talked about.
33:57
Speaker 4: That or gets paid.
34:01
Speaker 2: Right, But DJ, you remember how you start out basketball
34:05
Speaker 2: practice where you may do some form shots mike and
34:07
Speaker 2: drill layups. Then you moved back like the Steve offered
34:11
Speaker 2: video right like historic clause America croud.
34:14
Speaker 1: I had that vhright right.
34:15
Speaker 2: So when you look at Gus Bradley, they want to
34:17
Speaker 2: play like umbrella coverage.
34:19
Speaker 3: They don't want to give anything.
34:20
Speaker 2: So what if forced Trevor to do was to take
34:23
Speaker 2: a lot of layups early, so he completed like ten
34:25
Speaker 2: of his first eleven passes and then.
34:27
Speaker 3: Lor and behold when the deep.
34:28
Speaker 2: Shot came open, because he was hot, he dropped it
34:32
Speaker 2: in there. Whereas before he was trying to manufacture the
34:34
Speaker 2: D ball. Now it just happened. And because he was
34:37
Speaker 2: in rhythm because he had seen a couple of layups
34:39
Speaker 2: go through, he then was able to step back and
34:41
Speaker 2: knock down a couple three points to betj.
34:43
Speaker 5: Ond On, not only do we have a new wide
34:45
Speaker 5: receiver one, we would do RB one in Jacksonville.
34:48
Speaker 1: Buck was a year early on that one. But that's
34:51
Speaker 1: like the band that you're telling me, like, oh, this
34:53
Speaker 1: is this great band, it doesn't hit for that was
34:57
Speaker 1: telling me about Tank Bigsby last year. Unfortunately, I drafted
34:59
Speaker 1: on my fantasy team. Last year he got me nothing,
35:02
Speaker 1: and this year I don't. And every time I look
35:04
Speaker 1: over at a game, I see him busting a long run.
35:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, this second, we can row. Last week against the Texas,
35:11
Speaker 2: he had a fifty four yard run. This week he
35:13
Speaker 2: pops a sixty five yarder and talking to Tank after
35:16
Speaker 2: the game, he talked about the games slowing down and
35:19
Speaker 2: because it's slowed down, he now can make moves.
35:22
Speaker 3: He gave me the description.
35:24
Speaker 2: Last year it was like being on the porch and
35:26
Speaker 2: flies just buzzing around your face. In terms of the
35:28
Speaker 2: way guys then defends were coming. It was fast or whatever.
35:32
Speaker 2: But now it's slowed down, he's able to do it.
35:34
Speaker 2: And I will say this because there's room for him
35:36
Speaker 2: and Travis Dtienn. But Travis Dtienne is more of the
35:40
Speaker 2: change of paceback, more of the guy to get on
35:42
Speaker 2: the edges and catch the ball out of the backfield. Tank
35:44
Speaker 2: Bigsby is your RB one in terms of the physicality
35:47
Speaker 2: and toughness and doing the dirty stuff between the tackles.
35:49
Speaker 2: It's working for the Jags, and it's funny because the
35:52
Speaker 2: young guys are kind of carrying them while the old
35:55
Speaker 2: guys are either dealing with injuries or trying to find
35:57
Speaker 2: their way back into the line.
36:00
Speaker 1: I'm looking at my notes on Tank Bigsby five to
36:02
Speaker 1: one five, so almost six foot two ten ran four
36:06
Speaker 1: five six. I had thirty catches, aggressive runner, bounce and burst.
36:10
Speaker 1: He runs through contact, he has stop start quicks. He's
36:13
Speaker 1: excellent after contact. He's a fun player to watch u
36:17
Speaker 1: and I would echo that after watching what he did yesterday.
36:19
Speaker 1: That was a very fun player to watch for the
36:22
Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars. And if you need fantasy football advice, listen
36:25
Speaker 1: to Bucky today and it'll help you. Now, that's that's
36:29
Speaker 1: my advice. It's early, Christmas comes early, that's all right.
36:39
Speaker 1: We had the Panthers and the Chicago Bears. Obviously, organization
36:42
Speaker 1: is going to be linked together because of the trade.
36:45
Speaker 1: Chicago Bears waited on a quarterback a year. They got
36:47
Speaker 1: a huge haule. Carolina Panthers got Bryce Young, who's already
36:50
Speaker 1: been benched in year number two. You had Caleb Williams
36:53
Speaker 1: go to the Chicago Bears with a plethora of picks
36:56
Speaker 1: and players that were acquired because of the trade. We've
37:00
Speaker 1: got Bryce Young going to Carolina who'd been actually had
37:04
Speaker 1: pulled talent out of that building in order to acquire you.
37:07
Speaker 1: So that's another conversation for another day. But based off
37:10
Speaker 1: of this game, I think Bear Bears fans have to
37:13
Speaker 1: be excited. It's not just this game. When you look
37:15
Speaker 1: at Caleb Williams with three hundred plus yards, two touchdowns,
37:18
Speaker 1: no picks in a game that the first Bears rookie
37:20
Speaker 1: ever to do that, I think Bears fans have to
37:23
Speaker 1: be excited because Buck, I'm going to give you a
37:26
Speaker 1: saucy nug. This is a good saucy nug. It's going
37:28
Speaker 1: to tell you why they should see.
37:29
Speaker 4: Let's get saucy.
37:30
Speaker 1: We're going to double up on the saucy nug. When
37:33
Speaker 1: you look at Kayleb Williams the start to the season
37:35
Speaker 1: and you look at what he did, you know, right
37:37
Speaker 1: out of the shoot, like okay, everybody's panicking. Everybody's freaking
37:41
Speaker 1: out because of the way things started. It's a it's
37:44
Speaker 1: a little bit slow, was it? The first ten first
37:47
Speaker 1: ten quarters? Five touchdown passes, zero touchdowns in the first
37:52
Speaker 1: ten quarters played. Oh no, sorry, I've read that backwards.
37:56
Speaker 1: My saucy I just screwed up my saucy nug. That's terrible.
37:59
Speaker 1: Five touchdowns.
38:00
Speaker 4: Now your nugs are just soggy.
38:02
Speaker 1: It was my nug. I sent in my nug in
38:04
Speaker 1: one format and then and.
38:06
Speaker 2: Producer Drew shaped it.
38:12
Speaker 1: But my nug sauce, it was all over the place
38:14
Speaker 1: right there. Anyways, it was I really jacked up our
38:19
Speaker 1: saucy nug right there.
38:21
Speaker 4: Producer Drew is just laying on the pavement over here,
38:24
Speaker 4: just got me.
38:29
Speaker 1: Let me do this again, give me? Can I give over?
38:33
Speaker 1: I just go to do it. I'm gonna read off
38:35
Speaker 1: my own notes and not go off of that graphic.
38:38
Speaker 1: This is off Tony from research. Tony deserves credit for
38:42
Speaker 1: the saucy nugs. You firsts fifty seven percent completion percentage,
38:46
Speaker 1: no touchdowns, three picks. That's the first ten quarters. The
38:49
Speaker 1: last ten quarters seventy percent completion percentage, five touchdowns, one pick.
38:55
Speaker 1: So long, story longer. Caleb Williams is playing really good football,
38:58
Speaker 1: and it's not just in this ball game. Buck, there's
39:01
Speaker 1: your saucy nut.
39:02
Speaker 3: No, that is a very saucy nut. He has found
39:05
Speaker 3: his rhythm and it was right on time.
39:07
Speaker 2: After we watched him throw, I would say too many
39:09
Speaker 2: times against the Indianapolis Coast, they found a way to
39:12
Speaker 2: kind of rhyl him in.
39:13
Speaker 3: He's doing a better job of playing on time, even
39:16
Speaker 3: though he still kind of peers from the pocket.
39:18
Speaker 2: He's done a better job of playing with the paces
39:20
Speaker 2: in discipline that we said was gonna be a challenge
39:22
Speaker 2: for him and the playmakers that he has around him,
39:25
Speaker 2: they will make plays.
39:27
Speaker 3: He just has to stay within the system and allow
39:28
Speaker 3: the system to work.
39:29
Speaker 5: For Yeah, boy, DJ Moore was special in this game too,
39:33
Speaker 5: which obviously meant I'm sure a little bit of something
39:35
Speaker 5: to him having come over as the primary player piece
39:38
Speaker 5: in that trade.
39:40
Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean those throw I think it was
39:42
Speaker 4: the first.
39:42
Speaker 5: One actually, the one in the back of the end
39:44
Speaker 5: zone as he's streaking down the field from Caleb was
39:46
Speaker 5: just perfectly placed on the money. And we're still getting
39:50
Speaker 5: some of that elite like you know, pocket craftiness where
39:54
Speaker 5: he's you know, maybe only getting four or five yards,
39:56
Speaker 5: but it would have been a sack otherwise. And so
39:58
Speaker 5: when when you can because this is what we saw
40:00
Speaker 5: in the preseason, right it was you know, it was
40:03
Speaker 5: minoring and spectacular, and it was majoring in scheme like
40:06
Speaker 5: you like you talked about Dj, and that's that's kind
40:09
Speaker 5: of what we've started to see going back to that
40:11
Speaker 5: timeframe that you read out from Tony's research piece there,
40:15
Speaker 5: so I think it's all coming together.
40:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, and pockets were clean. It was they had clean
40:20
Speaker 1: pockets for him to operate at. It's amazing how much
40:22
Speaker 1: better you look as a quarterback when you don't have
40:24
Speaker 1: chaos around you. They were able to limit the chaos
40:27
Speaker 1: and he played at a really high level. The guy
40:29
Speaker 1: who was picked right after him, by the way, continues
40:31
Speaker 1: to just be on a roll this time, literally on
40:34
Speaker 1: a roll with how Jade and Daniels was running. Buck
40:36
Speaker 1: This was this was a clinic of taking yards with
40:39
Speaker 1: your legs, extending plays and the accuracy. Still, I know,
40:43
Speaker 1: the numbers you know from a completion percentage don't match
40:45
Speaker 1: what he'd been doing, but still made some unbelievable throws
40:47
Speaker 1: in this game.
40:49
Speaker 2: He absolutely did dj I used to bristle, that is comparison,
40:51
Speaker 2: because you know, doing the run up to the draft,
40:53
Speaker 2: we love to make comparisons.
40:56
Speaker 3: Between Hey, Jade and Daniels reminds you of.
40:58
Speaker 2: Who, and the conversation would always lean towards Lamar Jackson.
41:01
Speaker 2: I was like, I mean kind of, but not really
41:03
Speaker 2: because you never really saw him run like that, but
41:06
Speaker 2: something has happened when he's got to the National Football League.
41:08
Speaker 3: He is an unstoppable runner.
41:10
Speaker 2: Who also doesn't take shots, but has the ability to
41:13
Speaker 2: do a lot of stuff that Lamar Jackson we saw
41:16
Speaker 2: du versus Cincinnati and starts dealing from the pocket. The
41:19
Speaker 2: Washington Commander's offense is challenging to defend because they have
41:23
Speaker 2: a dual threat quarterback who can absolutely torture with his
41:26
Speaker 2: arm or he can outrun you with his feet. They
41:29
Speaker 2: are very difficult to stop and he's still finding a
41:31
Speaker 2: way to get the ball into the hands of these
41:33
Speaker 2: playmakers on the perimeter.
41:35
Speaker 5: Yeah, Daniels now has more rushing yards than any rookie
41:39
Speaker 5: quarterback in their first five games since nineteen fifty. The
41:42
Speaker 5: other guys do you consider there, Steve Young, Kyler Murray,
41:47
Speaker 5: I'm think Culpepper and Randall cunning He's got a little
41:51
Speaker 5: randal in him, like he's got a little bit of that,
41:53
Speaker 5: maybe not quite as big.
41:54
Speaker 4: But you know, I do have a saucy nug for
41:57
Speaker 4: you guys.
42:00
Speaker 1: Better be careful. I got myself in trouble with the
42:02
Speaker 1: last sauce. Make it a good saucy nug.
42:05
Speaker 4: Well, it's good.
42:06
Speaker 5: I suppose if you're a Commander's fan, if you're a
42:08
Speaker 5: Browns fan, you're not gonna love it. Cleveland has now
42:13
Speaker 5: had fewer than three hundred total yards and fewer than
42:18
Speaker 5: twenty points in every game this year. This is the
42:23
Speaker 5: first time Cleveland has done that since nineteen ninety nine,
42:27
Speaker 5: when I believe they were just getting back in the
42:30
Speaker 5: league as an expansion came back, and so we've gone
42:34
Speaker 5: from twenty five years later or what back to square
42:38
Speaker 5: one here?
42:39
Speaker 4: Is that what it's feeling like?
42:40
Speaker 3: Yikes, that's unbelieve.
42:43
Speaker 1: By the way, uh, before we get to the next game,
42:46
Speaker 1: bonus saucy nug one and oh against Dante Culpepper in college,
42:49
Speaker 1: I'm just saying, I'm just going that out there. Let's
42:51
Speaker 1: go roll roll, Let's yeah, come on, come on, let's go.
42:58
Speaker 1: Let's go to bow Nicks. I always feel like I
43:00
Speaker 1: give Maybe it's just the David Morris connection, but I
43:02
Speaker 1: always feel like I give Rhet the floor first when
43:04
Speaker 1: it comes to bo Nicks. Go ahead, A big win
43:07
Speaker 1: for all.
43:08
Speaker 4: I got on bo Nicks today.
43:09
Speaker 5: All I got on bo Nix is he is operating
43:12
Speaker 5: at the podium postgame like a savvy veteran Okay, there
43:16
Speaker 5: was obviously a moment in the game where you know,
43:19
Speaker 5: he and Sean Payton had some things to say to
43:22
Speaker 5: each other, and he was asked about it postgame and
43:26
Speaker 5: he said, yeah, uh, he told me he loved me.
43:29
Speaker 5: I told him I love you too, And I don't
43:33
Speaker 5: know if love was the four letter word that was
43:36
Speaker 5: actually used. But that's a dude that understands like that's
43:41
Speaker 5: a mature guy, right, who understands h Like it's easier
43:44
Speaker 5: to answer that question when you end up having a victory,
43:46
Speaker 5: right like he did. But the first guy in team
43:49
Speaker 5: history to win it three win in three straight starts,
43:51
Speaker 5: and he comes out wearing the Lway jersey too at
43:53
Speaker 5: the podium like, come on, I don't any better than
43:55
Speaker 5: that man. Our buddy David Morris raised him up right there.
43:59
Speaker 1: There you go, there go. Buck helped me out with
44:02
Speaker 1: some terminology. What are we calling that little swing screen
44:06
Speaker 1: or whatever where you've got a lead blocker out there
44:08
Speaker 1: that everybody didn't feel like in collegen and the NFL
44:10
Speaker 1: is running right now.
44:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, but it looks like a tall suite,
44:14
Speaker 2: but it counts as a past. It's been a great
44:15
Speaker 2: play for so many guys in college and see.
44:18
Speaker 1: I feel like I was seeing in a bunch every week.
44:20
Speaker 2: I mean, look, I saw the Miami Dolphins do it
44:24
Speaker 2: over and over and over again. It's a cheap way
44:25
Speaker 2: to get completions and yards on the perimeter. I just
44:30
Speaker 2: love bo Nicks in terms of like how he's handling
44:32
Speaker 2: the stuff with Sean Payton. Because Sean Payton came grind
44:35
Speaker 2: on quarterbacks. We saw him last year grind Russell Wilson
44:39
Speaker 2: to the point where it was almost uncomfortable to watch
44:42
Speaker 2: his interactions. But Bo Nicks being able to fire back
44:45
Speaker 2: at Sean Payton's to me shows me he's comfortable in
44:48
Speaker 2: his own skin. He's very comfortable with the leadership responsibilities
44:51
Speaker 2: that it has for the team, and his confidence is growing.
44:55
Speaker 2: I didn't think that the Broncos would be sitting here
44:56
Speaker 2: at three and two and just beginning to maybe make
44:59
Speaker 2: a bit of a run. But their defense has been
45:01
Speaker 2: good and the quarterback has been managing the game and making.
45:04
Speaker 3: Enough plays to keep his team right on track.
45:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt Bo Neecks finding a way to the
45:10
Speaker 1: winner circle three and two for the Denver Broncos. Chean
45:13
Speaker 1: Payton and company. I want to throw one more rookie
45:16
Speaker 1: note out there from the Giants Seattle game. I know
45:18
Speaker 1: people are losing their minds on the block field goal
45:21
Speaker 1: and everything that goes along with that. We don't have
45:23
Speaker 1: time for that today, but I do want to give
45:24
Speaker 1: Tyrone Tracy a little love. A rookie hundred and twenty
45:26
Speaker 1: nine rushing yards, most by a rookie this season. When
45:29
Speaker 1: I watched it, it was impressive just in terms of
45:34
Speaker 1: just being decisive. You saw some duo runs vision downhill.
45:39
Speaker 1: I thought he had a nice little blend of power there.
45:41
Speaker 1: Stumbled on a couple of them, but so find a
45:43
Speaker 1: way to kind of maintain his balance working through there.
45:45
Speaker 1: It wasn't like a solo mission where he was just
45:48
Speaker 1: making things happen on his own. They blocked it up well.
45:50
Speaker 1: The Giants, actually, I think are a better run blocking
45:53
Speaker 1: team than they are a pass protection team. But still, nonetheless, Buck,
45:57
Speaker 1: you get a rookie out there, Tyrone Tracy getting over
45:59
Speaker 1: a buck. I feel like we give him a little love.
46:01
Speaker 2: We should give him a little love because I think
46:03
Speaker 2: Rhett didn't. We discovered Tyrone Tracy at the East West
46:05
Speaker 2: Rine game. Did we talk about the producer? I believe
46:08
Speaker 2: we did the wide receiver turn running back who is
46:11
Speaker 2: now putting on for his city with the Giants.
46:14
Speaker 3: You gotta like that.
46:15
Speaker 2: And for the Giants it comes at the right time
46:17
Speaker 2: because all the conversation around Daniel Jones was about him
46:20
Speaker 2: not being able to carry the offense. And he can't
46:22
Speaker 2: carry the offense, but if he gets some help in
46:24
Speaker 2: the run a game and is able to do some
46:26
Speaker 2: other things with the defense playing well, he's proven that
46:28
Speaker 2: he can get his team to the win a circle.
46:30
Speaker 2: For them to do it without my league neighbors, very impressive.
46:34
Speaker 2: Hats off to Brian day Ball. Everyone at Poured Dirt
46:36
Speaker 2: on the New York Jazz said they were done. They
46:38
Speaker 2: found a way to do it, and Tracy played a
46:40
Speaker 2: big role in it.
46:42
Speaker 4: Yeah, he sure did.
46:43
Speaker 5: And the last thing that I'll give you there on
46:44
Speaker 5: that is, there was a college coach who told Tyrone
46:47
Speaker 5: Tracy in high school that he should be a running back.
46:51
Speaker 5: And do you know who his position coach was his
46:53
Speaker 5: final year at Purdue when he made the switch, that
46:56
Speaker 5: same coach, and it's obviously worked out pretty well for him.
47:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good advice, much better advice than Buck told
47:04
Speaker 1: me way too early to draft Tank Dell for my
47:05
Speaker 1: fantasy team. You're late on that one. You're late on
47:10
Speaker 1: that Bigsby, not Tank Dell, wrong Tank all right. By
47:14
Speaker 1: the way, enjoyed the Saucy Nugs addition to the to
47:17
Speaker 1: the program this week. Okay. By the way, if you're
47:19
Speaker 1: watching games on Sunday, Senate, send it to me, send it,
47:25
Speaker 1: send us a saucy nug. We'll get it in there.
47:27
Speaker 1: That's gonna do it for us. Today, we'll talk about
47:28
Speaker 1: the Monday night matchup and what that looks like. Uh.
47:31
Speaker 1: And we have the recap for you tomorrow on mobi sticks.
47:33
Speaker 1: We'll see then
