[upbeat music] I can't even be out of this. It's a doom. It's stoner metal, bro. Yeah. The original was at 45. You're just playing it at 33.
• 0:20
Or the original was 78, and you're at 33 now. [laughs] All right, every- [laughs] all right, everybody. I was happy. Hey, we got a, we got a new piece of gear, and I didn't get the old theme song loaded onto it yet.
• 0:32
[laughs] But, uh, I think I'll let this play through till the end, 'cause I used, uh, udio.com beta to make a stoner metal intro song. [laughs] I like it. That's actually pretty cool.
• 0:45
It's actually, it's actually not bad. I'm, I was pretty impressed for it being an AI-generated thing. You have to give it the prompts, and it, you know- Yeah... makes the noise. And it, I did...
• 0:55
went through, like, five different iterations before I came up with something. I'm like, "Yeah, that's kinda cool." All right. You know, we got Tony over there. Over here. We got JK with his Daikaiju.
• 1:08
We'll talk about that in a second. I'm over right here. Shirt on. And joining us in the studio this week is Cory Bauman. Hello. Much of the, uh- [clears throat]... the biking and the banding and the d- beer drinking-
• 1:20
I'm here for it... all those things- [laughs]... are things that you do. Welcome to the, uh, this is now called the... What do we call this place? This is the, uh, Podcast MKE Studio. That's- Yes...
• 1:35
it's, we're working on it. We're getting there. It's coming along. Getting there. Black ceiling tiles are my next, my next thing. I would, I would definitely give it a different vibe. Right? I like it. Yeah.
• 1:44
But, uh- Dimmable lights would be kinda cool too... except, yeah, you know, if we're gonna do video, we g- I would like a little more maybe directional lights or something. Okay. All right.
• 1:52
Get rid of those I'm ugly, though. It'd be better in the dark. Yeah. I'd go orange to match these chairs. Yeah, that- [laughs] That'd be cool. Hey- [laughs]... four chairs for 100 bucks. I was like- Gotta love it...
• 2:03
gotta, gotta have those chairs. Yeah. Those are nice chairs. They're very nice. They're comfy. Uh, so, uh, starting out with, uh, JK's Daikaiju shirt over there. Those guys are coming to the X-Ray Arcade in Milwaukee.
• 2:16
Really? 7:26. During- So- What... Say it with me, the Riverwest 24... West 24. So if I got, like, a random text that just said, "Hi, Tony.
• 2:26
This is David from Daikaiju," it would definitely be possible for me to do a show either after hours, after X-Rayed Arcade set that night, or late afternoon the next day. Ah, Saturday.
• 2:39
So they are fucking coming to the Riverwest 24. [laughs] We just gotta, gotta figure out where and how much to charge. Oh, yeah. I'm coming with 1,500 bucks. Is that what their fee is?
• 2:48
I'll front 1,500 bucks myself if I have to. I said I'm in for money. [laughs] I'm like, I, I will. [laughs] We just have to figure out whether they're gonna do it.
• 2:53
To be able to see Daikaiju twice in less than 24 hours in two different venues- And be host for one of them... I, I might have got a boner when I read that. Boy, oh, boy, oh, boy.
• 3:02
I got this text, and I was in the middle of a rough day at work. I'm like... And then I went and happened to run into him- Yeah... so he kept it a secret too. Yeah. So we both knew about this for a couple hours now.
• 3:11
Cash out on, uh, some Cardano and- Uh, I ain't gonna do that. It's still too shit. Yeah, you can't do that yet. [laughs] It's been- No, I- It's been sinking like a rock...
• 3:18
I, I got enough Microsoft, I can just pop that in. Okay. There you go. There you go. Three shares, covered. I, I know you had some kind of funds. I'm, I'm okay. [laughs] I, I wouldn't...
• 3:26
My little ship breaks if I say I need 1,500 bucks, but I don't think I'll need 1,500. I'll figure out a way to make it happen. Don't tell her. I'm terribly impressed. I didn't- [laughs]... I kept my damn yap shut.
• 3:35
Yeah, you did. I'm impressed, because- Well, and you were just needling... and I like wearing the Daikaiju shirt too, to throw that into it- Yeah... 'cause you weren't wearing that today at work.
• 3:42
No, I was dressed up classy-like. Me too. [laughs] I was, well, I was wearing this, like I always am. I'm always dressed up. But yes, motherfucking Daikaiju. Somewhat. That's right. We gotta just come up with a venue.
• 3:55
Or my yard. That's where- Or- I was- [laughs]... Riverwest Arby's or- Yeah, or Riverwest Arby's... could be Riverwest Arby's... or if it's during the day, fucking Amorphic.
• 4:03
That would just, in their parking lot, think how that would rule. That would rule. There's so many. I, I, it's just, I'm, my, it made my fricking year. It's an embarrassment of riches.
• 4:14
I think we have to find a PA for them too, so we'll have to figure that out. We can work that out. Jeff Hamilton has a nice QSC system. Maybe we can get him to- Or we can-... help out... we can get,
• 4:24
uh, Scanlan's stuff and say, "Hey- Oh. [laughs]... maybe you could play in between sets just to- Maybe you could, maybe you could- Yeah... play through this toy PA that we have here for you.
• 4:35
Yes, logistics will be a thing, but we'll work- We'll do it. Right on. We'll do it. Well, that's very good news, Tony. I kept a really big secret. That's big news. I kept a really big secret. Yeah. Yeah.
• 4:43
You did a good job. You did a good job. I'm fucking excited. You know what's not a secret? World Naked Bike Ride is coming to Milwaukee. When is that? It is... What are you doing over there? Tearing a place up?
• 4:54
Donald's- Yeah, apparently... dangling. It is- Getting all worked up, in a froth... it is June 22nd, now meeting at La Cage at noon. Why are they meeting...
• 5:03
I mean, I don't care that they're meeting at a gay bar, but I just think that's hilarious. Well, they're also m- milling about- There's-... for four hours before they actually go on the ride, so. Yeah.
• 5:11
There's a, they got a lot of, uh- I-... space on the inside, though. Yeah. I mistakenly ran into that one year. We, we did. Yeah, we did. Caught me a little bit by surprise, and I'm sorry, I'm not riding a bike naked.
• 5:21
Were you not in La Cage when we had the derby inside on the dance floor? I, yeah, that I was there. Okay. But- Derby on the dance floor... no, I was at DiNardo's going to set up my, uh, my, that thing, my, uh, minor.
• 5:33
And I'm like, "Finally I'm in, at DiNardo's on a Saturday so I can go to Enlightened to have a beer." And as I'm starting to ride to Enlightened, I hear music. I'm like, "Cool, they're having a show."
• 5:43
And then I'm like, just casually riding my bike, and out of the corner of my eye I'm like, "That's weird. That person looked naked." And then I look the other way, I'm like, "Well, all four of those people are naked."
• 5:52
[laughs] Like, what in the hell is going on? You have a backpack on and nothing else, young lady, and you have nice boobs. [laughs] And I go inside, and half the people in Enlightened are naked.
• 6:05
And fortunately, I see a guy who has clothes on that I recognize. And I'm like, and you, well, I think you can relate.
• 6:11
And I, I walk up to him and I'm like, "Hey, I know you from somewhere, and I never do this to anyone, but who are you?" He's like, "Tony, it's Aaron." I'm like, "You're back from Taiwan. You..."
• 6:24
He teaches English as, uh, to wealthy people in Taiwan. I think Taiwan, maybe. Anyway, he's the guy that comes back every year to do the River West 24. Okay.
• 6:35
He did tandem one year with Steve, uh, Big Beard Steve, uh, Anderson. I don't know. Anderson. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and I'm like, "What in the hell is going on here?"
• 6:46
And he's like, "Oh, it's the naked underwear, under- it's the naked bike ride." I'm like, "Oh, God." Like not underwear ride. I'm like, suddenly this is all like... I'm like, "Why?"
• 6:52
I'm like, "Why do you wanna ride your bike without any clothes on?" I don't, I don't have any problem with people being naked, but that saddle's gonna hurt after a few miles. Boone and Crockett hosted that one year.
• 7:04
Mm-hmm. And- Yeah, yeah, I recall that... and Pedal Tavern for leaving from there. [laughs] Kayaks leave from there. Duckies. A group of Boy Scouts- [laughs]... showed up. Milwaukee By Bike leaves from there. Yep. Yep.
• 7:20
And, uh, and they had to m- basically move all the kayaks, like down to just keep... There's kids around. Right. Oh, Lord. Yeah, nudity shouldn't be illegal though. You know? And then, and then at the end of it,
• 7:34
you know, people are thinning out and whatever. Um, and there was one guy wearing a G.I. Joe hat, like just some camouflage hat and that and shoes. And that's it? Being weird to fucking everybody. Oh, no. Yeah.
• 7:49
Yeah, see that- Well, that's all-... I think it brings out some weirdos. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It gives the excuse to like, "Oh, here I am."
• 7:54
Like, nobody else is around and he's like peeing behind a dumpster and I'm like, you know, there's more Pedal Taverns going on and he's just standing there like with his h- like hands on his hips just like watching a Pedal Tavern load and everybody's like- Oh, that's just creepy...
• 8:07
"Who is this guy?" See, that's too creepy for me. And then, and then- Was he doing the helicopter? Yeah, he, yeah, maybe a little bit of hip thrusting. [laughs] You know?
• 8:14
And I was just like, I had to call Boone and be like, "You need to get these people out of here. Your event ended four hours ago." Oh, wow, and he was still standing there naked?
• 8:23
The ride, the ride was over, you know, and people are hanging out and drinking nude. [laughs] But again, it was thinning out, and he was like, you know, last man standing. Wow. So, uh- That's just creepy...
• 8:34
speaking of Pedal Taverns, Cory, that is one of your things you do- I do that... in the off-season from the teaching. It's true. I like to tell my riders that, uh, that I teach in the off-season. Sounds like a good plan.
• 8:46
Ah, I like it. I like it. [laughs] Yeah. But yeah, I, I do drive the Pedal Tavern. Cool. That's cool stuff. I have, I have ridden on Cory's Pedal Tavern. Okay. It was fun. I can honestly say- Did Molly come with too? No.
• 8:59
No, Molly actually- She-... it was the first time Molly ever drove the convertible. We met up with Molly at Drink Wisconsinably. Yes. That's what happened. Yes. So she was kind of there. Yeah.
• 9:10
So how, how rowdy do, are those get? Everyone rowdy or are they all different or? You know, it's, it's pretty chill for the most part, honestly. Um, nobody wants to like... It's like when you go to like a work outing.
• 9:22
You know? Like, you wanna have a good time. You don't want to embarrass yourself. [laughs] Um- Speak for yourself. [laughs] You know, and there's, [laughs] there's, uh,
• 9:31
there's some people there that, you know, do get a little wild, but for the most part, everybody's pretty tame. A little self-policing. It used to be...
• 9:38
[laughs] Yeah, and, and the Pedal Tavern has turned more into like the pregame versus like the main event. Sure. Mm.
• 9:44
It, it used to be like people would be like, oh, to like a bachelor party be like, "Yeah, we got up early and we were golfing while drinking, and then we went to the Brewer game while drinking, and then we went to a brewery tour while drinking, and now you get to babysit us for two hours- Sure...
• 9:58
while we continue drinking." Mm. Now it's people show up at 3:00, and they're like, "Yeah, we've got dinner plans at 6:00." Huh. You know? And then, and then after that- We're just getting started. Yeah, yeah.
• 10:07
So it's more or less people are just kinda getting started. Cool. Yeah. It's the, it's the primer for the day. Yeah. 99.9% of the, the tours are, are really great. Cool.
• 10:16
You know, it's just a bunch of people hanging out, having a few pops and yeah. Cool. I do the smile and wave. Yeah. Da, ra.
• 10:23
'Cause as a bicyclist going by- I check every, I, yeah, I check everyone hoping you're the driver... you get heckled riding. Yeah. So one of- You always get the... I only get heckled, and it'll be like, "Yeah."
• 10:33
Not, not heckled heckled. [laughs] How, how often do, uh, do you hear people go- Fuck off [laughs]... like, "You're cheating"? Either they yell, "You're cheating," or, "You wanna race?" Or, "We need help."
• 10:44
Those are the big, big three that I- Right, right... that I hear. [laughs] I, I like, "Don't forget to breathe." Yeah. [laughs] That's a good one. That, that, that works well at the, uh, upcoming toad races- Right...
• 10:55
just yelling at the race- Dig, dig... "Don't forget to breathe, bro." Dig, dig, dig. [laughs] I still think the best one was when the, the one I was at- You're not pulling your weight in the back...
• 11:04
with you guys outside of Kenny's parents' house and that fucking wild turkey just starts strutting across the street, and there's like 80 cyclists coming at it, and it's like, "I don't give a fuck."
• 11:14
Oh, that was Ravane's house on- Oh, that's what it was... Lake, yeah, Ravane's house on Lake Drive.
• 11:18
They, they, that, that, that- The East Side turkeys don't give a- You, you may not have seen that turkey's balls, but I'll guarantee you they were huge. [laughs] 'Cause he was just looking at these...
• 11:27
And everyone was just, and everyone was also was like, "I gotta get away from this thing." It was hilarious. Don't fuck with the turkeys.
• 11:34
All right, Cory, so one of the things that you do in the summer in your, in, for your real job- [laughs]... in your off-time of, uh, in the, in the winter, uh, is, is River West 24 stuff.
• 11:45
Are you still the bonus checkpoint coordinator or what's your official title? Yeah, I would call myself the official bonus checkpoint coordinator. That's... Or manager. I like it.
• 11:56
Every, everybody usually goes with manager is whatever their, their thing is. That's a Jeremy Prock bit. There you go. Um- That's funny... but yeah, bonus, bonus checkpoint manager. I, um, got 48 checkpoints this year.
• 12:10
Wow. A 49th if you include the, uh, tattoo. Um- There's a tattoo... yeah, it's brand new this year. Oh, really? So if riders get a tattoo- It's a, it's a full back tattoo this year. Yeah. [laughs] Okay. Okay.
• 12:26
So, uh, yeah, riders can get a, get a tattoo and, uh- Is it a real tattoo? That's what I'm always asking. Yeah, for life. It's like a real tattoo. Yeah, no, you own it or don't do it. There. There. Look at this.
• 12:39
Look at this, right there. I've- [laughs] You have all of them, don't you? Mm-hmm. So do I. Mm-hmm. I only have one. Guess how many I have? Zero. Zero. None. That's all right though. Like- [laughs]...
• 12:50
if I was ever gonna get a tattoo, it would be a RW24 tattoo though. Yeah. It's one of the few things that would be like, "Yeah, I gotta-" That's what I did. I got the- "I'm gonna sport that around-" I got the- "...
• 13:01
until I croak." I, yeah. It was- Well, I got-... a double tap on it. I got this as my only tattoo, and I got it in Tony's house. [laughs] Nice. I'm like, "Yeah, and-" I've gotten two in his house. I've, I've like- Right?
• 13:11
Yep... ticked off two boxes there. Yep. I love running into people with them and be like, "Where'd you get that tattoo?" And they're like, "Some abandoned house." I'm like, "No, my abandoned house."
• 13:19
[laughs] My house, my house. Like that's- Some weird ghost house, man... the- [laughs]... the very, the first year that, that I rode in the 24 was the second year of the 24,
• 13:29
and, uh, and I got the first one on my, like, kind of right above my ankle,
• 13:35
and then little did I know that, you know, 14 years later I'm gonna be like running out of room on my f- [laughs] You know, I'm, it's gonna have to start sliding down onto my foot 'cause I just keep getting them like underneath.
• 13:46
Ouch. Ouch. Yeah. I got last year's on, or two years ago on my ankle, like right on it. Right. Mm. On the ball. Last year it was like right where my Achilles is, and that was rough. Painball. Oh.
• 13:56
And, and it didn't heal very well either. Mm. It's, it's kinda spotty. I might need to get a touch-up this year, but, but yeah. Um, going back to the, the bonuses, we have 48 of them.
• 14:06
I spent a lot of time on the phone today actually just checking in with people like, "You're still doing this, right?" Right. [laughs] Right. Oh, yeah. 'Cause people start, we started, um, this year I think in,
• 14:18
from March. Yeah, from somewhere in March to 4/20, uh, we, we are taking first time bonus hosts because, you know, like so many people like, "We're back this year. We wanna do it again. We loved doing it last year."
• 14:32
And, you know, and they get at us pretty early, but then a lot of times those other people that have never done it get pushed to the side and we're like, "Well, let's change it up." That's cool. Absolutely. So, yeah.
• 14:42
Absolutely. Well, it's one of the most fun parts of the event is actually hosting a bonus checkpoint- Yeah... for sure. Totally. Oh, I've done a bunch. Yeah. It's one of my... The dunk tank was the best.
• 14:52
That was a good one. So fucking cold. You- You get a lot of people coming through your, your yard or- Yeah, I had that one that year with the flower decorations. What, uh- We had the bouncy house...
• 15:03
what would be a favorite bonus checkpoint of yours off the top of your head that you did not host? Um, [laughs]
• 15:11
as much as it was embarrassing as fuck, it was the, uh, Planned Parenthood where I had to jump with a wooden dildo between my legs and get to a chair and put a condom on it and then jump back.
• 15:21
[laughs] That is something that I did not experience. That was- I like that idea... that was a pretty bizarre one. Okay. It was the Planned Parenthood right over the, up the street here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
• 15:30
And I was like, "Yeah, hell yeah, I'll do that." When, when was that? Um, a long time ago. Okay. Um, but that was a good one. I liked making the seat cushions along the Beer Line Trail- Okay...
• 15:41
with Katie Jesse, where we had to, you had to put the foam in and then stretch the vinyl over and staple them. That was a pretty fun one. Um- Think I got Alzheimer's 'cause I don't remember that many of them.
• 15:52
[laughs] I remember, I remember filling sandbags for Habitat for Humanity, which was- Yeah, I remember that one. The garden-... something that was-... was, was cool... useful. Over by, uh, Reservoir Park.
• 16:00
I could go on and on 'cause I guess- Yeah... I fucking- Well, there's been hundreds of them... haircuts of course. Yeah. Haircuts. Well, yeah. Greg has these pictures- I am-...
• 16:07
of me where I look apparently like in a zone. He's, yeah, he's in like ecstasy as Jen is like cutting- Shaving-... his hair and he's just like... and butchering me. [laughs] The haircut I had,
• 16:17
oh, I can't remember which year it was, but I had the f-, uh, lemmi mo- mutton chops, and Jen, [laughs] funk rock Jen came in at the last second and got half of it, and then touched it up with a friar tuck. That's right.
• 16:30
That was me. [laughs] And my cousin took a video- Denardo, oh... took a video of it, like a 360 around it. It's great. He's like, "I can make a 360 model of your head, dude." My, um- I'll have to find this video...
• 16:40
yeah, that would be a good one... my, my wife is semi-responsible for the end of the- Haircut... haircut bonus because there was, uh, like a naughty and nice kind of thing where- I remember that one...
• 16:50
and, um- I offered to pay someone 100 bucks to shave Jake's head, and they wouldn't do it. New one? New one. 'Cause he wanted the nice haircut. Yeah. I'm like, "Butcher that motherfucker."
• 16:59
I'm like, "I will pay you right now to shave his head." Well, we had- His, his bike is in the other room right now. We had a- And listening to you. [laughs] Yeah, it's recording your- We had a wedding that Saturday
• 17:12
evening or whatever, so I had to leave early from, from the 24. But, you know, it's the middle of the night. Jess goes up to get like the, the nice one,
• 17:21
and Jen, and she's wearing like, uh, like little pigtails or whatever, and Jen just goes, "Here you go." Just one of them too, right? No, both of them. Oh, really? Oh, okay. Oh, and cut it pretty short.
• 17:32
Jess, Jess like was like, "What the fuck? This was supposed to be like, you know, the second-" The nice. Yeah. It's like, "I don't know. You go..." And Jess like started crying. Like- Oh, no...
• 17:44
she was like done for the, she was like, "I'm done. I'm just gonna go home." Oh, that's terrible. And, uh- I'm sorry... and Jeremy was, you know, Jeremy was pissed off.
• 17:52
Some of the other organizers were pissed off, so we were like, "We, you know, there's like an option here." Oh, I'm sorry, Jess. And then, uh, Jen fixed it, you know, like the next day, that Sunday at, um- Yeah...
• 18:03
at the public house. At the house. Yep. Yeah. Yeah, the cleanup day. Yeah. Yeah. That was when- But- [laughs]... but Jeremy was like, "We're done doing this." Mm. So [laughs] He did bring it back one year after, but-
• 18:13
Wow. Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty wild. [laughs] That was a butcher. Yeah. Gotta put that on the YouTube then That is something. Yeah. [laughs] Um- I've seen it too... my favorite checkpoint- Beautiful...
• 18:26
before I started doing all the organizing was there was, uh, one year on the Beer Line Trail where they did, like, black metal, like, face paint. Do you guys remember that one? Yeah. Yep.
• 18:35
Like, 2:00, 3:00 in the morning, whatever it was. So I get all, like, face painted, and I'm on my BMX and, um, and I'm racing up Holton. There's nobody around me, and as I'm, like, scrolling up,
• 18:49
there's like these four guys, and they just start giving me this look. And, you know, I'm, I'm just like, "Oh, fuck. Am I gonna get jumped here?" Right. Right. I don't know, I don't know what's gonna happen here.
• 19:00
You know, there's nobody out here, and these guys are definitely staring me down. Ride right by, but they're just eyeing me up the whole time. And I get back and I tell my group as...
• 19:11
after I pass off our bike, like, "Yeah, I, I just thought I was gonna get fucking demolished out there." Rolled. Yeah. And, um, you know, told them, I was like, "Scary as hell. They were looking at me."
• 19:21
And they were like, "You do realize that you've got fucking face paint on and you look like an idiot." "Okay." [laughs] Yeah. Yeah, I do realize that.
• 19:29
So, so they were just more or less [laughs] they had no interest in, in, in any trouble at all. They were just like, "What the hell's with this guy?" [laughs] Yeah.
• 19:37
I got that look on Holton too when I was wearing a tutu. Mm-hmm. I had a bright pink tutu on and these people were staring me down and- Yeah... but they were just kinda like, "All right." What the hell's going on here?
• 19:45
"Yeah, this is going on." At least- Yeah, you know, at least- At least you weren't naked Yeah, Kim was talking But right... we are missing a tutu in our house. Uh, I have one. Yeah. But I don't think I have yours.
• 19:53
You can have mine. No, I have butt crack undies. Oh, that could be. BCA. BCA, baby. Oh, shit. You said it three times. He's gonna come right inside the fucking door now. [laughs] Probably gonna be over to Morfik. Yeah.
• 20:05
Uh, speaking of Morfik- With the highest butt crack that goes up to his shoulder blades... where's that thing? [bell ringing] It is, uh, it is the top of the hill already, and we did have the pregame of Morfik.
• 20:18
It was delicious. Oh, yeah. It was very tasty. Like a coffee action. We're, we're gonna have a post-game of Morfik too, I think, but- Yeah. I think so... uh, Tony brought us some of the last of the... Which one is this?
• 20:27
This is the Poor Farm Pils from a Company Brewing, recently shut down Company Brewing- Yeah... just down the block. Good stuff. I will open this. It is. You know, I'm, I'm...
• 20:42
There's reasons bus- businesses go out of business, and sometimes you brew bad beer, sometimes you may not have proper management or something. I don't know. I think, you know, I've been reading a lot of posts.
• 20:56
People are very negative about Company online, on Facebook and shit. But, you know, one guy was, like, very adamant that they brew really crappy beer. I'm like, "I think you're full of shit, dude." Yeah, they're good.
• 21:08
Yeah. Because there's a couple of beers they make that are outstanding. Yeah. Yeah. I wouldn't, I wouldn't- You know?... I wouldn't go with that. Right. No.
• 21:14
I, I, you know, I'll give them shit forever for, you know, discontinuing the poutine because that breakfast poutine- [laughs]... was the greatest thing in the fucking world.
• 21:22
I'll give them shit for the 20% thing that they didn't get rid of after the pandemic. That was kind of a pain in the ass. That was...
• 21:27
You know, and they didn't re- generally tell you that until you got your bill, like circled the 20. And I don't care. I mean, I, I always tip 20% anyway because I like... I don't want to do the job. Right. But- Right.
• 21:37
I always tip if I have a job... if someone helps me doing a job that I would not want to do personally. And I, I did, I do... I am going to miss them.
• 21:49
Um, I'm hoping someone steps up because that could be a pretty good turnkey business. Well, it's, you know- You know, I'm, I'm kind of looking at you, Pat... it's, it's turnkeyed a few times.
• 21:57
It's turnkeyed in the past a few times too. Right. It has. Yeah. An Open Post. You know? But- Stone Fly. Stone Fly. I know. But I mean, Pat owns everything around that neighborhood. Why not add this to his collection?
• 22:08
I'm gonna miss the River West Hops batches every year. Mm-hmm. I will definitely miss that considering- That's, that's why I miss-... I contributed. Yeah. I contributed many years. Oh, wait.
• 22:15
Don't you have some of my hops? Not anymore. Okay. They took over... They brought down our trellis. Oh, dude. They're insane. [laughs] Every time I give someone to someone, I'm like, "Don't yell at me."
• 22:25
When it became so bitter [laughs] yeah. 'Cause they- So we, we ripped it out and it was from, you know... And it all of a sudden one day I woke up and it pulled, like, our trellis at like a 45-degree angle.
• 22:35
[laughs] And it was about two weeks... And, and this is the thing that my wife and I got married in front of. So it was like, "Okay, I have a decision here.
• 22:42
Do we save this thing because it's, you know, like, part of our history, whatever?" Sure. Sure. Or do I just like, you know, let it, let these things harvest in two weeks?
• 22:54
And I cut them all down and I tried to prop it up, and the whole thing just fucking fell apart. [laughs] I lost the war completely. Hops, hops, man, you're not gonna win. Right. And then I...
• 23:03
and then as I was, like, weeding them, I pulled one and it went like- [laughs]... 8, 8, 90 feet through the yard. And then I find out- They're like the Ents...
• 23:11
I don't, I don't know exactly how this happened, but the, our neighbors behind u- or our neighbors next door to us, behind their garage they're growing hops, and I don't even know why 'cause they don't even drink.
• 23:21
So I don't know if those snuck over there somehow- Probably... or what. Uh, I'll, I'll say yes... but if I need hops, I can, uh, I can just take those. And- And I actually contribute to their [laughs]- I, I-...
• 23:30
River West hops. Uh- I, I warned Seth when he bought the place. I'm like, "Good luck with those." Mm-hmm. They're hard to kill. Yeah. I mean, they, they can come back after a couple of years. Which Seth? Seth.
• 23:42
Yeah, okay. Seth bought our house. Okay. I didn't know that. Seth and... Oh, yeah. That's awesome. Seth, name, name from the market. Seth and, uh, Rochelle. Okay. That's great. Yep. Meeting with them Friday to...
• 23:50
We still have stuff in it. [laughs] Sorry, guys. How many bikes? No. None. None. Got one, but I left it for them. See, there you go. I left it for them. And, and also the gate. There's one. Is it a tandem?
• 24:00
You got the gate going. No, it's unfolding. And I have to get the gate. I have to get bike gate. Okay. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Cool. And there's just a couple things here to mention before we wrap this up a little bit.
• 24:12
I mean, you know, we got time, but, uh, Chewy's Salon Chair number 40 is posted. If you haven't listened to Chewy, Spinner, and Derek, it's a good show Mayday Mayhem coverage.
• 24:25
Mason City, Osage, and Decorah are kind of working together. That's about an hour to Osage from Decorah, and two hours to Mason City. Okay. So the idea is to get... I mean, Decorah already has awesome riding.
• 24:37
Osage has pretty awesome riding, and they've got a new trail plan that one of the big trail builders is coming in and helping them do a section. For Osage? And then, in Osage. He's not from Osage.
• 24:48
I was, I was reading your post and I just saw Osage, like- That's where-... eight, eight times- Yeah, yeah... in like one sentence. Osage. Osage. [laughs] Osage. Because it's cool. Just like... God, no, I get it.
• 24:59
It's a town of 3,500- Drive it in. Drive it in, dri-... that is making an effort to make something that people- Yeah... wanna go to. A destination, yeah.
• 25:04
And then Mason City's a bigger town, and that's got some decent riding around it too, so they're working on making a deal where, yeah, let's go stop in Decorah one day, there one day, there one day, kind of thing. Cool.
• 25:14
Um, and those guys, all three of those guys, Spinner, Derek, and Chewy, are all going out to SingleSpeed USA in Salida, Colorado this year. Oh, Salida. Oh, Ford's gonna lose it. Yeah, that would be a good place.
• 25:27
That, that's Colin Ford's favorite place to ride, man. It is a good place to ride.
• 25:31
Uh, one thing they were looking for, though, is they don't wanna drive the 17 hours or whatever it takes to get there, so what do you stop at on the way?
• 25:39
And I've stopped at a place in Kansas that's actually an IMBA Epic Trail, in the most unlikely spot you would ever think. It's- Kansas? Yeah, in the middle. Dead center.
• 25:49
If you had a dollar bill that's shaped like Kansas, it would be like dead nuts in the middle. Wow. About 10 minutes off of I-70 or whatever it is. Sure.
• 25:57
And it's, it's, uh, around Wilson Lake, which is pretty much the only lake in the area. It's on the Saline River. Hm. Beautiful, awesome trail. Gotta stop there- Do it... and camp overnight- All right...
• 26:08
because it is spectacular. That's my recommendation, Chewy. Stop at, I forget what they call it. It is- Chewy doesn't listen to this show. Yeah, he does. Shut up, you.
• 26:17
He- If he does, then he's gonna have to realize- No, you don't know nothing... I'm calling him a dick right now, and he can call me out... it's called the Swichgrass Trail. [laughs] Guess what's not there? Switchgrass?
• 26:26
Trees. There's no trees. It's in- Isn't switchgrass flammable? Pr- probably. But it's in, uh, post rock territory. Because they didn't have any trees to make fence posts, they use limestone rocks. Cool.
• 26:38
And they're like, you know- High... tall as a fence. Like Ireland? It's also- Ireland... it's also illegal to pick one up off the side of the road and take it with you back to your house. Okay.
• 26:46
Like a child from the '80s. You can't, you can't take, can't take rocks from the beach in Costa Rica either without getting busted. Don't bring sand to the beach. I know. Nope, nope.
• 26:53
What, you're bringing sand to the beach? Nope, bring that down, Stan. [laughs] I feel like before we go, too- It's wrong, sir... we gotta call this out. Check out Cory's shirt. Oilers. Edmonton Oilers.
• 27:03
Superfan, number 99. Show, show, show, show it to the fans. Should I turn it? See that thing? There was this- Hey, Zito, suck it. [laughs] Nice. He's never gonna listen to this podcast either. Um, but yeah.
• 27:15
Well, we got it on wax, right? [laughs] If he listened to any of the podcasts, he'd hate us by now. Well, he doesn't wanna be on the show or come to River West, so that's why. That's right, that's right.
• 27:23
We don't, we haven't done a video podcast. [laughs] Oh, I thought you were gonna get him on. Come on, we gotta do a Zito video podcast. [laughs] I thought you were gonna flip him on.
• 27:32
Kinda lead with the- You gotta lead with the chest... yeah, lead, lead, no, you lead with the bottom end. Is that what it is? All right. Lead with the crotch. Yeah, there you go. How come we're not Facebook friends?
• 27:41
[laughs] That's how it works. All righty, awesomeness. It just comes off creepy when you're 5'7". Right. [laughs] When, if you're- If you're 6'7", it's different...
• 27:51
if you, yeah, yeah, it doesn't look as- I don't know how tall he is-... what it just did... but he's tall. He's tall. He's way taller than me. Yeah, he's like 6'4".
• 27:57
[laughs] Also, Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee is this weekend. I may stop in- And?... at the beginning... and the Surf and Turf Skate Park concert. I can't wait for that show. Oh, that's on Saturday. Isn't that on Saturday?
• 28:09
Yes, yes, yes. Oh, my God. Bug, Bug moment, Scam Likely. Agent Orange. The Exotics. Agent Orange. Agent Orange, baby. Just Agent Orange is- I know. Yeah. I actually have to, uh, make sure that I...
• 28:20
I have to adjust my Pedal Tavern schedule. Uh- Because I'm not missing Agent Orange. Right. As soon as we get done with this, I'm- So they have to be at, like, 8:45 to 9:00- Yeah...
• 28:30
because I think they have to be done by 10:00. They have to end by 10:00. Yeah. Okay. So just so you know. I know, my, my target was, like- I can work till 7:00... it's like, yeah, 'cause it goes- I love that one...
• 28:38
Covert's playing too, right? Convert? Covert. Convert. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Convert, yeah. Covert will be up. Yeah. It's Co- I just love Scam Likely. I just think they're just a great band right now.
• 28:48
That's Kerry Dea- It-... n's band, right? Yep. Yeah, they're good. Definitely. Scam Likely- Yeah... Charlie's a great singer... is 5:30 to 6:00 and some change. And then it goes Convert, Crosses. Oh, Crosses, I forgot.
• 29:02
Yeah, Crosses are great. And, uh- Yeah, Agent Orange. Okay. And I saw, I saw Dan at, uh, Bayview Gallery night, and Rusty at the guitar shop had said that... 'Cause I bought the Deadfinger album. Mm-hmm.
• 29:15
And I said, "Oh, nice." And he, and he thought that the project was done, and Dan said, "No, we're, we just did our second album." I'm like, "Right on, man." [laughs] So Deadfinger and The Crosses is Dan Kobinsky from
• 29:27
Die Krüzen. Die Krüzen. Dude, that album, man. Which is a good- The sun ain't gonna shine anymore. God damn it, dude. Yeah, that's, that's gonna be a- [singing] Fucking dude... that's gonna be a rocking Saturday.
• 29:37
Tuesday. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to be cheating and pushing the button. I'm gonna be cheating and taking the goddamn l- uh, city bus. I'm tempted to just ride a acoustic bike to Tate's house.
• 29:45
Dude, there's a green line to the 55, 55 right there. And to top it all off, my son graduates from high school the next day, so it can't be a, get shit-faced- Late night... junkie drunk. No, I agree. I don't want to.
• 29:55
Yeah, I gotta, I have a- I want it to be a lot of fun... I have, like, an Ozarks, uh, family reunion birthday party the next day, and I gotta- I'm kinda secretly hoping for-... kinda get my head together...
• 30:02
Boom Boom Huckjam showing up, too. Yeah. Do you think he'll show up? I don't... He showed up beforehand, so why wouldn't Tony Hawk be for this? He's, he's been here before. That'd be freaking awesome.
• 30:11
I do not have his autograph yet. I also do not have his autograph. Me either. That's, uh, that's high on my list. Yes, you're the... Oh, he, he's the autograph king, too. Yeah, you got a lot of autographs.
• 30:20
Yeah, I just got, uh, Juan Gonzalez back in the mail. You send, you send them the card and the autograph? A Ducci on. Mm-hmm. For a stipend or not all the time? Um, it, it depends. Some guys charge. He doesn't.
• 30:33
It took it, uh... I sent it off four... It was a 445-day turnaround. Oh, nice. Yeah. Well, you got it back though. Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. I'm, I'm pretty stoked.
• 30:44
Um, I've had one that took, like, over three years to get back, and it was Dusty Baker. Oh, okay. Ah. Yeah. It's all baseball- You probably got a-... or you do others too? Uh- Pretty good financial- Baseball mostly...
• 30:56
return on this. Yeah. It's his retirement account. Kind of. No, he's not. He's works for the s- fricking city. He's part of the same fund we are- Yeah... which is fucking awesome. Don't look at me. I know. I'm, I'm him.
• 31:08
I'm trying to get, I'm trying to get- And him. The big arms. He's making the big arms. I, he's trying to- Well... invite me into the fold. Someday you guys can come over and- I won't come willingly.
• 31:15
[laughs] You're, you're more than welcome to come over sometime and check out the, like, museum of sorts. Yeah. Mm-hmm. I'm gonna send my- Do you actually have them on display? I'm gonna send my- Mm-hmm.
• 31:23
I've, I've, uh- I've seen a photo- In your basement?... a photo or two on the inter-social media- Yeah... of a few things. I, I've seen a display case. Yeah. Like, a whole wall of baseballs and jerseys on the wall.
• 31:33
I, I got a, I got goofy stuff like F1. Yeah. I can't send my Ayrton Senna card, otherwise he'd have to come out of the grave to sign it- No... and stuff like that.
• 31:43
[laughs] But- So- I also have, like, Iraq War cards, and if Colin Powell would sign my card, I'd be like, "Dude, how you doing?"
• 31:50
So you do know my old boss was Soldier of the Year twice, and has had- Soldier of the Year... and had l- had, has had dinner with Colin Powell several times. Awesome. Yeah. He's, he's...
• 32:02
Even though they're both right-wing nut jobs, they're definitely not as bad as the right-wing nut jobs that are around right now. [laughs] My old boss was, uh- 'Cause they're way right-wing nut jobs now.
• 32:09
I mean, they're fucked up. My old boss was Willie Davis from the Green Bay Packers. Ah. 'Cause when I worked at- The prison? No. When I worked at New Rock. New Rock 102.1. 102.1. Mm-hmm. He was one of the...
• 32:19
And h- his signature- Was he really? Yeah. [laughs] It was on- Wow... every one of my paychecks. Yeah. So I made a photocopy of it and sent it to my, uh, to my uncle, who was, like, super Packer fan at the time.
• 32:31
[laughs] I'm just like, "Yeah, he got you an autograph." Which the crank is- An autograph... for every bit Cory is into sports, and we get, we go back and forth totally joking on, on the Facebook- Yeah...
• 32:40
but I know nothing about sports. So I have to give him shit about Hand Egg and all that shit. Right. Because it's... But, but I, I hope you realize it's completely in jest- Oh, I know...
• 32:50
and you know how much I love you- Yeah... and what you do. Oh, absolutely. But I do find it funny that we have such divergent topics of interest- Yeah... for lack of a better term. Right. Yeah.
• 33:01
You know, I'll nerd out about a computer- Yeah... which you- Well, not everybody's gonna be into the same shit. I'm, I'm busy cleaning your cat hair out of your computer. Yeah.
• 33:08
Which won't be a- Holy fuck, was that a lot of hair, huh? To be fair, yeah. That, that won't be an issue for quite a long time. That was funny. "Cory, do you have a cat?" "I have a couple." I'm like, "I know."
• 33:18
[laughs] He had me replace a fan. Not anymore. Not anymore we don't. Yeah, that happens. Oh. We've got a- Hey, who cares? Beaker's still kicking ass... Little She-She. Yeah.
• 33:25
We got a Little She-She who has some shit and all. 'Cause I love Beaker. Beaker. Yeah. When we hou- Great name for a animal... Molly still talks about when we house sat for him.
• 33:32
Molly saw Beaker on, uh- On, yeah, at the-... on Saturday... at the, um, rummage sale. Yeah. Was that last Saturday? Two Saturdays ago? Two Saturdays ago. Yeah. Yeah, I took him down. He had a little raincoat on.
• 33:41
She told me, she's like, she's like, "I saw Beaker." I'm like, "The Beaker?" [laughs] Yeah. I'm like, "You saw Cory's Beaker?" I'm like, "Shit, I wish you'd have sent me a message." Well, that sounds kind of weird.
• 33:50
I would've came down just to give Beaker the business. Yeah. Oh, he's such a sweetheart. He might. All right. Well, we did it again, folks. Cory, thanks for coming. Hey, thanks for having me.
• 33:58
Ob- obviously we got way more to talk about, so you're welcome anytime. Yeah, yeah. We'll do another one maybe in July hopefully. Yeah? Maybe before the 24th? Yeah. Yeah, let's do it.
• 34:06
Well, considering there's no Tuesdays after. Yeah. You're what? What? What? After? Hmm? There's no Tuesdays in July after the 24th. It's true. Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah. No, I'd love to come back on.
• 34:16
I always have a great time with you guys. Cool. We always have a great time with you. Well, we're gonna, we're gonna leave this thing with the full on- Bam, and then out...
• 34:23
I think it's, I think it's just under two minutes. But it does have an intro, a thingy in the middle, and a deal, and then an outro. Yeah. I don't know. You know, whatever. We'll- Meow... we'll crank it right now.
• 34:33
You can- Meow... listen or not listen. Yeah, party. Yudio.com.
• 34:38
  [rock music]
