- 2:03It is the Daily Motivational Show.
- 2:07And I think you guys are really going
- 2:09to appreciate it.
- 2:11This is Series 5, Show 4, Episode 1.
- 2:17And I am so glad to be here.
- 2:19I'm your host.
- 2:20I'm John Seymour, a serial entrepreneur.
- 2:23And again, welcome back to Inspirations for Your
- 2:26Life, the Daily Motivational Show, where growth is
- 2:30intentional, confidence is reclaimed, and success is built
- 2:35from the inside out.
- 2:38Being your host, I'm happy to be here.
- 2:40As I said, a serial entrepreneur.
- 2:41I'm also an engineer, a marketing specialist, video
- 2:43producer, podcast host, coach, graduate student, and yes,
- 2:47guys, a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:51And it is a privilege and a pleasure
- 2:52to really be with all of you.
- 2:54This show exists to remind you of who
- 2:57you are when the noise quiets down.
- 3:00Today, we begin a new chapter titled From
- 3:05Stuck to Unstoppable, Your Glow-Up Era.
- 3:09This episode, you're not an accident, guys.
- 3:13It's a reminder to everyone, regardless of your
- 3:17age, that nothing about you, your ambition, your
- 3:21resilience, your curiosity, happened by mistake.
- 3:26It didn't.
- 3:27You were built for more than survival.
- 3:31I know a lot of us talk about
- 3:33two things in life.
- 3:33One is calling survive and thrive, but few
- 3:37people thrive in life.
- 3:39I think it's because they get comfortable being
- 3:43complacent and just being the way they are.
- 3:47So when you're too comfortable, you never grow.
- 3:50So I always said comfort lies just outside.
- 3:53The success, I should say, lies just outside
- 3:55the comfort zone.
- 3:56So you were built to rise.
- 3:59Yes.
- 4:00Number one, guys, our first point, you were
- 4:02not born, guys, to pay bills and be
- 4:06exhausted every day.
- 4:07I know that happens.
- 4:08It's a part of life.
- 4:09But you weren't born for that.
- 4:10You were born to be abundant.
- 4:11You were born to just be able to
- 4:13pay things to help people and to enjoy
- 4:16this high quality of life.
- 4:18You see, life, ladies and gentlemen, is meant
- 4:20to be lived with purpose, not constant depletion.
- 4:24But I think that's what a lot of
- 4:26us are taught.
- 4:28Maybe it's our parents' upbringing.
- 4:30Maybe they had challenges.
- 4:31And maybe they didn't handle things the most,
- 4:34let's say, pristine way.
- 4:36No one's perfect.
- 4:37But I'm here to tell you that life
- 4:39has so much you can get out.
- 4:41So let's start embracing it.
- 4:44Number two, guys, someone out there is praying
- 4:48for the courage you already have right now.
- 4:50What you see as normal is inspiring to
- 4:53others.
- 4:55And it's great.
- 4:56I know when I do my talks and
- 5:00I get people in the audience, and some
- 5:02people come to me privately, everyone says, hey,
- 5:03John, you really inspired me to take a
- 5:06step.
- 5:06I mean, I'm not going to speak like
- 5:08you do, but you've inspired me to at
- 5:11least get up in front of my class
- 5:13or maybe at least get up in front
- 5:14of my office and tell them what's on
- 5:17my mind.
- 5:18I'm happy to be able to do that.
- 5:20Number three, guys, your personality is not random.
- 5:24It is your built-in strategy.
- 5:27You're not too much.
- 5:29You're just in rooms that dream too small.
- 5:34That's the truth, guys.
- 5:36Number five, you keep shrinking to fit spaces
- 5:40you outgrew years ago.
- 5:42Let's stop doing that.
- 5:44Number six, you are not a side character
- 5:47in your own life.
- 5:48I know sometimes we feel like this because
- 5:50whatever is going on, we miss life.
- 5:53We miss these things, and we miss the
- 5:55fact that life is meant to be lived
- 5:57and about thriving.
- 6:00It's not about hiding.
- 6:03There's a lot of people like, oh, I
- 6:04can't get what I want, and I'm just
- 6:05going to hide.
- 6:06No, don't do that.
- 6:07And when you do that, it actually lessens
- 6:10you as a person.
- 6:11At least that's how you feel.
- 6:12You're not a lesser person, but it makes
- 6:15you feel lesser because you feel like this
- 6:17isn't meant for you, right?
- 6:18Maybe you've gone somewhere, and maybe they had
- 6:21seats, and you wanted to sit there.
- 6:23And the sign said, you know, these are
- 6:25reserved.
- 6:26And maybe some, let's say, pompous person says,
- 6:30you know, these are reserved for, you know,
- 6:33VIPs.
- 6:34So what are you?
- 6:36Well, maybe you're not a VIP at that
- 6:38show, but you absolutely are a very important
- 6:40person in your life.
- 6:41And, you know, maybe you're going to sit
- 6:42in those chairs another day, or you're going
- 6:44to sit in chairs even better than those
- 6:46chairs.
- 6:47Number seven, guys, you are allowed to want
- 6:53a bigger life without guilt.
- 6:58Yes, I said that.
- 7:00Number eight, you were not designed to live
- 7:04on autopilot.
- 7:05Now, certain things are good to be on
- 7:07autopilot, like, you know, knowing you have to
- 7:09do your exercises and things like that.
- 7:11That's good, but your entire life should not
- 7:13be on autopilot.
- 7:14Maybe 10%, maybe you've got things that remind
- 7:17you to do certain tasks, but your whole
- 7:19life should not be on autopilot.
- 7:21As I said, maybe you go home a
- 7:23certain way.
- 7:23Take a different way.
- 7:24Instead of taking a right, take a left,
- 7:26and take a scenic tour.
- 7:28You never know what you'll embark on.
- 7:31I think a lot of people in our
- 7:33world, they get used to doing the same
- 7:35thing over and over again.
- 7:36You know what happens?
- 7:37Again, they get complacent, and they feel that
- 7:39there's nothing new for them.
- 7:42There's nothing for them really to do.
- 7:45Okay?
- 7:48You know, that's the truth, guys.
- 7:51And it's not here to scare you.
- 7:53It's here to hopefully wake you up and
- 7:54say, you know what?
- 7:55You were meant for bigger and greater things.
- 8:00Yes, you were.
- 8:02But the fact that you haven't come to
- 8:04that realization yet is really the only thing
- 8:07that's holding you back.
- 8:09So it's like this filter, right?
- 8:12If we had a filter, which we do,
- 8:14we could put on the camera to prism
- 8:16things so we could see things kind of
- 8:17like in prisms, so we can kind of
- 8:19see people in just different kind of angles.
- 8:20It's kind of fun.
- 8:21If you ever see how prisms work, it
- 8:23kind of will, you know, get you to,
- 8:25you know, maybe be in a ray.
- 8:27And it even has a rainbow effect to
- 8:29it.
- 8:30But if we never change the prism or
- 8:32we never change the lens in our life,
- 8:35and we're still looking at it in, I
- 8:37don't know, black and white, if we never
- 8:39change the lens and turned on color, how
- 8:42can we get excited about our life?
- 8:45We can't.
- 8:46We need to do the perception in our
- 8:48life.
- 8:51And perceptions are not limited to just what
- 8:54you feel today.
- 8:56Perceptions can grow tomorrow.
- 8:59Number nine, guys, you're not behind.
- 9:04You're on your own timeline.
- 9:05I've had to tell myself that sometimes too,
- 9:07because, you know, sometimes you see someone say,
- 9:09oh, gee, look where they are.
- 9:10That's okay.
- 9:12We all have our own timeline.
- 9:14And everything that we're meant to have will
- 9:16be delivered in our life.
- 9:18Are you ready for number 10?
- 9:19I know you are.
- 9:20If your dreams, ladies and gentlemen, scare you,
- 9:24guess what?
- 9:25That's a sign you're growing.
- 9:28Number 11, your overthinking is unused creativity.
- 9:32Looking for direction is important.
- 9:36Knowing the way is good, but maybe you
- 9:39can learn a different way to go, a
- 9:42different way to traverse in the universe.
- 9:44I think that's a very cool thing.
- 9:46Number 12, guys, the world benefits when you
- 9:49stop pretending.
- 9:51That's right, guys.
- 9:52I said when you stop pretending.
- 9:54When you stop pretending to get permission from
- 9:59yourself.
- 10:00Because you don't need permission from yourself.
- 10:04It's you.
- 10:06Number 14, you're not lost.
- 10:10You're under construction.
- 10:11Have you ever gone to a website?
- 10:12I know many of you have.
- 10:14I know the very first time I worked
- 10:16on our website many, many years ago.
- 10:18And the very first time.
- 10:20And I remember it was just one page.
- 10:22It was just all CGI.
- 10:24And I remember when I was first getting
- 10:26it up, I put this page up that
- 10:28says under construction.
- 10:30And so your life might be under construction
- 10:34right now.
- 10:35That's okay.
- 10:36It's building something even better than you probably
- 10:41imagined.
- 10:42In fact, what you want is probably just
- 10:44one-tenth of what could happen to you.
- 10:48Are you ready for number 15?
- 10:52I know we get stuck.
- 10:55I know when we get stuck, we feel
- 10:57that we're never going to be able to
- 11:01move through.
- 11:01Maybe you're stuck in a snowstorm.
- 11:03If you don't have four-wheel drive and
- 11:04you're trying to get out, and all of
- 11:05a sudden, the tire just spins.
- 11:08Or maybe you're outside.
- 11:13And maybe you're doing something.
- 11:18And because suddenly you lost a screw or
- 11:23a screw didn't come in the box, you're
- 11:24stuck and you can't finish the project.
- 11:26So you have to figure out, what do
- 11:28you do?
- 11:29So I'm here to take you from stuck
- 11:31to unstuck.
- 11:33It's not an overnight process.
- 11:35It's a gradual process that slowly starts to
- 11:39percolate.
- 11:39Very similar to the way coffee does.
- 11:42I remember the very first time my grandparents
- 11:45told me they always have to have their
- 11:47coffee in the morning.
- 11:48And I said, well, that's pretty cool that
- 11:49they have to have their coffee in the
- 11:50morning.
- 11:51And my grandfather on my dad's side would
- 11:56have his coffee in the morning.
- 11:57He never would drink any coffee at all,
- 11:59but only at breakfast time.
- 12:01And my grandmother would make the coffee in
- 12:03a coffee pot because they would never be
- 12:05caught, you know what, using instant coffee maker
- 12:08or using instant coffee.
- 12:09Never.
- 12:11Number 15, your future self is already proud
- 12:15of you.
- 12:16Why are you putting yourself down?
- 12:18Why are you dissing yourself?
- 12:19You're so important, guys.
- 12:22Number 16, you're not complicated.
- 12:28You're layered.
- 12:32So I want to think about this in
- 12:34a very interesting way.
- 12:37Layered.
- 12:41When somebody first learns graphic design, maybe some
- 12:44of you are graphic designers, maybe some of
- 12:46you aren't, graphic design can be very tedious.
- 12:53Because you've got all these different pieces, and
- 12:55they all got to come out a different
- 12:56way.
- 12:57But you can't seem to move them until
- 13:00you realize one thing.
- 13:02In graphics, things are on layers.
- 13:04And so once you learn what layer is
- 13:07which and how to traverse and move through
- 13:09and how to move things up a layer
- 13:10or down a layer, well, life seems a
- 13:14lot easier.
- 13:15It does.
- 13:16Number 17, please stop asking people who settled
- 13:23if your dreams are too big.
- 13:28You know, people that haven't gotten anything, people
- 13:31that have given up because they haven't reached
- 13:34their dream is them.
- 13:36That's not you.
- 13:39You're here.
- 13:40You want to get motivated.
- 13:42You want the food to be able to
- 13:43help you and the, not only the spiritual,
- 13:47but also the mental food, the mental diet
- 13:50to take you from stuck to unstoppable.
- 14:00I'm going to recall back to a story
- 14:01I've said before about a dog.
- 14:03So this dog was over a friend of
- 14:05mine's house many years ago.
- 14:08And the dog actually did something pretty cool.
- 14:10You know what that was?
- 14:11The dog actually opened the door and I
- 14:15said, geez, what a smart dog.
- 14:17And my friend Joe's like, well, you wouldn't
- 14:19think he was such a smart dog if
- 14:21you were here a week or two ago.
- 14:22I said, why?
- 14:24The dog was clawing at the door for
- 14:27hours.
- 14:31The dog was learning.
- 14:33Yeah.
- 14:35So sometimes when we do something and it
- 14:39looks like it's a mess or it looks
- 14:41like we don't know what we're doing, we're
- 14:44learning.
- 14:45And there's no crime in learning, guys, because
- 14:48when we learn, we become smarter.
- 14:52We become wiser.
- 14:54We become more creative.
- 14:57We get unstuck.
- 15:04Number 18, guys.
- 15:05Before I go on to number 18, I
- 15:06want to tell you something interesting.
- 15:08So even AI uses that same logic.
- 15:12AI learns by its mistakes and gets better.
- 15:19Number 18, you were built for progress, not
- 15:24perfection.
- 15:27Number 19, there is a stronger version of
- 15:30you waiting to show up, to bust out
- 15:34of an egg.
- 15:37Maybe you're just scared of it.
- 15:40A lot of times when we're scared, it's
- 15:45actually confused with an emotion called excitement.
- 15:52And because we're not used to it, we
- 15:55think we're scared, but really we're just excited.
- 15:59And it throws us off guard.
- 16:02Number 20, guys.
- 16:04Your story has chapters.
- 16:06It does.
- 16:08Just like the book I'm reading, guys.
- 16:10My story has chapters.
- 16:12My book has chapters.
- 16:14You haven't even imagined yet.
- 16:18So if every day you have the power
- 16:21to write your story, to change your story,
- 16:25that's powerful.
- 16:29That's priceless.
- 16:32But some people don't choose to write their
- 16:35story because, well, they haven't had much luck
- 16:38at it.
- 16:43But if you're like that dog who just
- 16:45kept persisting and going on and keeping on,
- 16:50or like maybe the train.
- 16:51Do you remember the story I told you
- 16:52guys a long time ago?
- 16:54It was the train.
- 16:56I think I can.
- 16:58I think I can.
- 16:59Do you remember that story?
- 17:00I think I shared it with you guys
- 17:01before.
- 17:04So it refers to the classic children's story,
- 17:06The Little Engine That Could.
- 17:07Where a small blue engine chugs up a
- 17:10mountain repeating the mantra, I think I can.
- 17:12I think I can.
- 17:12I think I can.
- 17:13To overcome a difficult task, teaching lessons in
- 17:16perseverance and optimism.
- 17:18The phrase signifies believing in yourself to achieve
- 17:21something challenging, often changing to I thought I
- 17:25could after succeeding.
- 17:27So if you're on that, let's say, edge
- 17:31between wondering if you can or can't, think
- 17:35about Henry Ford and what he said.
- 17:36If you believe you can't, you're right.
- 17:39But he also said something else.
- 17:40If you believe you can, you are also
- 17:41right.
- 17:43So change I think I can right after
- 17:45to I thought I could.
- 17:49Right?
- 17:52That's powerful, guys.
- 17:55I thought I could.
- 18:02When all the circumstances outside of you, you
- 18:05can physically see, hear, touch, taste, point to
- 18:09I can't, change your perception, change your direction,
- 18:16and focus on the positivity of I can.
- 18:20Because the more you focus on I can,
- 18:22the more that that noise, because that's all
- 18:24it is, that noise will just kind of
- 18:26quiet itself down.
- 18:29You'll be able to get true clarity and
- 18:31move forward and become unstuck.
- 18:36Number 21, guys, you're here to break patterns.
- 18:40You're not here to blend in.
- 18:42I know many times when I was in
- 18:44school, I was always told, you know, John,
- 18:47you need to blend in.
- 18:50And it was because they were stifling our
- 18:54voice.
- 18:54I didn't let that go very long.
- 18:59Because I knew that I was not here
- 19:00to blend in.
- 19:03I was here to make a difference.
- 19:07To use my unique skills and gifts to
- 19:10become something amazing.
- 19:16Number 22, guys, if you feel different, use
- 19:20that to your advantage.
- 19:22Don't let people block you because they say,
- 19:25oh, you're different.
- 19:26You're, you know, not in the same boat.
- 19:30You know, sometimes not being in the same
- 19:32boat is actually the predicament that can get
- 19:35us to become, let me say, amazing.
- 19:38I'm going to tell you amazing.
- 19:42I'm going to tell you amazing right now.
- 19:45That's really powerful.
- 19:47Really powerful.
- 19:49Number 23, you're not stuck.
- 19:56You're just on pause, waiting to make a
- 20:01decision or like I'd say a decision point.
- 20:04Sometimes when we have to make the decision,
- 20:06we feel like we're stuck.
- 20:09Because we don't want to move this way
- 20:11or move that way.
- 20:12We're on the top of the fence.
- 20:15And we don't know whether the grass is
- 20:17greener on the left or the right.
- 20:18So we're afraid to decide.
- 20:21So we're indecisive.
- 20:23And thus, you know what else happens?
- 20:25We procrastinate.
- 20:27And procrastination equals us becoming more stuck.
- 20:32You don't need to master everything and be
- 20:36a moving train overnight.
- 20:37But you need to get rid of different
- 20:39obstacles that are in your way.
- 20:41Because when you do, the rest of you
- 20:44gets the belief and the courage.
- 20:47You can do even more.
- 20:49Number 24, your energy is expansive.
- 20:52Protect it.
- 20:54Protect your energy.
- 20:57Protect who's around you.
- 20:59Don't let your energy just drain out.
- 21:01Your energy is priceless, guys.
- 21:03Number 25, you're allowed to outgrow old versions
- 21:08of yourself.
- 21:08Absolutely you are.
- 21:11Maybe something you're doing today doesn't match what
- 21:15was going on yesterday.
- 21:16Maybe.
- 21:17Or maybe it does.
- 21:18Or maybe there's a subtle tweak that you
- 21:21need to make.
- 21:23When we hear about, you know, different animals
- 21:28that outgrow their skin, like turtles, for example,
- 21:31right?
- 21:31Their shells.
- 21:35Think about that for a moment.
- 21:38What happens after a turtle outgrows its shell?
- 21:46What happens?
- 21:48Does everybody know?
- 21:51What happens?
- 21:55So it's not like a hermit crab.
- 21:56It's a little different.
- 21:57Its shell grows with it.
- 21:58So it's fused to its spine and its
- 22:01ribs.
- 22:01So it's always the right size.
- 22:04But the outer layer called the scutes, the
- 22:06sheds, as the turtle grows to stay healthy,
- 22:11revealing larger new scutes underneath a process called
- 22:15scutes shedding.
- 22:16So what happens after a, let's say, a
- 22:20hermit crab?
- 22:21Because that's a little bit different.
- 22:22What happens after a hermit crab outgrows its
- 22:25shell?
- 22:26So when a hermit crab outgrows its shell,
- 22:28it must find a new one for protection,
- 22:30usually by shedding its old exoskeleton, molting, or
- 22:33by finding an empty shell, sometimes joining a
- 22:37vacancy chain where crabs line up to swap
- 22:40shells from smallest to largest to ensure everyone
- 22:44gets a better fit.
- 22:45Being without a shell makes them extremely vulnerable
- 22:48to dying out and predators hitting them.
- 22:52So they seek a new home quickly, often
- 22:54after molting by testing different shells for size
- 22:57and weight.
- 22:58Kind of like we try on different clothes
- 23:01for comfort and style and look.
- 23:06So again, hermit crabs grow by shedding their
- 23:08hard outer skin, their exoskeleton, a process called
- 23:12molting.
- 23:14And they need a larger shell to accommodate
- 23:17their new size.
- 23:19Shell scouting.
- 23:20Before or after a molt, a crab will
- 23:23leave its old shell to find a new
- 23:25bigger one.
- 23:27And then the vacancy chain of a crab
- 23:30finds a shell that's too big.
- 23:31It may wait nearby, leading to a chain
- 23:33reaction where other crabs test shells, moving in
- 23:36a line from a smallest to largest, ensuring
- 23:39each crab gets a better fitting home.
- 23:42The move to new shell is swift and
- 23:45planned because shell-less leaves them exposed and
- 23:49can cause problems and even cause them to
- 23:52die.
- 23:53Why they need new shells?
- 23:56Protection.
- 23:57Their abdomen is soft and fragile, requiring a
- 23:59shell for defense.
- 24:00Growth?
- 24:01They simply get too big for their current
- 24:03home and they have to move on.
- 24:05Comfort?
- 24:06They might find a shell that fits better.
- 24:08It's lighter.
- 24:09It offers more protection than what they had.
- 24:15So just like animals outgrow their shells, we
- 24:19can outgrow not so much our bodies, but
- 24:23we can outgrow our egos.
- 24:26We can outgrow our limitations.
- 24:30This reminds me of a great story of
- 24:33a, it was actually an elephant, a very
- 24:36big elephant today.
- 24:38But many years ago, it was a very
- 24:40little elephant.
- 24:41And the little elephant, baby elephant, was tied
- 24:45to a stake in the ground.
- 24:48And the elephant tried to get out from
- 24:52the stake and he couldn't.
- 24:54He tried the first year, the second year,
- 24:56the third year, he couldn't get out from
- 24:58the stake.
- 25:00You know what happened after the third year?
- 25:02He never tried again.
- 25:04The elephant got bigger and the elephant could
- 25:06have easily broken out of the stake.
- 25:08But because of the mental programming the elephant
- 25:12got, by believing it couldn't break through, it
- 25:16never tried again.
- 25:17I think that happens to us in life
- 25:18because we try something now and maybe we're
- 25:21not successful.
- 25:22That doesn't mean we can't go back and
- 25:24retry again.
- 25:26It also doesn't mean we're giving up.
- 25:27It means we're taking a pause.
- 25:30Maybe we don't have the skills that we
- 25:32need.
- 25:33Maybe we don't have the strength that we
- 25:35need or the knowledge that we need.
- 25:38We can acquire any of those things.
- 25:42Number 26, guys.
- 25:44You didn't come this far to act small,
- 25:50okay?
- 25:50Your life is not a glitch.
- 25:54It's on purpose.
- 25:57Yeah, it's on purpose.
- 26:00You didn't get here by accident, guys.
- 26:03Number 28, you're allowed to want more.
- 26:06Even if your past self can't relate to
- 26:08it, you can have it.
- 26:11Number 29, guys.
- 26:12The fact that you're still here means there's
- 26:16still more for you.
- 26:17Now, it might not come tomorrow.
- 26:19It might not come this week.
- 26:20It might not come next week, but it's
- 26:21going to come.
- 26:24And the question is, will you be ready
- 26:27for it?
- 26:28Are you focusing on success?
- 26:30Are you focusing on these opportunities?
- 26:31Because if you don't and they come, you're
- 26:34never going to see them.
- 26:36You'll be blind to them and you'll miss
- 26:38the potential to grow and to succeed.
- 26:43Number 30, guys.
- 26:44This is not your final form.
- 26:46This is your loading screen, right?
