2:26
Speaker 5: on Friday about Capitol Market. Evan Osborne from the Market
2:30
Speaker 5: is with us right now. Good morning, sir, welcome to
2:32
Speaker 5: the show. Good morning, Thank you for being your busy
2:34
Speaker 5: weekend at Charleston, was it not, man? I mean, uh,
2:37
Speaker 5: Friday night half the town was over at five Street,
2:40
Speaker 5: you know, for the launch of Animal Ale, and then
2:43
Speaker 5: Saturday a couple thousand of our closest friends on the
2:46
Speaker 5: boulevard for a Fione with dome and just a whole
2:49
Speaker 5: light going on. But in the midst of all that,
2:52
Speaker 5: Capitol Market had a big announcement on Friday.
2:54
Speaker 6: Indeed, we did, I guess excited to unveil our addition
2:58
Speaker 6: to the National Register of Historic.
3:00
Speaker 3: Now what exactly does that mean.
3:02
Speaker 6: It means that we are essentially recognized by the federal
3:05
Speaker 6: government as a property worth recognition in the context of
3:10
Speaker 6: the development of the United States, and so the piece
3:15
Speaker 6: of property, the listing, if you will, is actually a
3:20
Speaker 6: part of back to turns century when the building that
3:24
Speaker 6: you see today was home to the Canal Michigan rail
3:28
Speaker 6: line and their freight depot, and throughout the existence of
3:34
Speaker 6: the Canal Michigan.
3:35
Speaker 7: Rail line and now what is now in Norfolk Southern.
3:38
Speaker 6: Really the goods and products that were shipped through through
3:42
Speaker 6: the depot were transformative in the development of America's industrial economy.
3:48
Speaker 3: So how exactly did this all come about?
3:50
Speaker 6: This distinction, So back to you know, mid nineties when
3:56
Speaker 6: Charleston Renaissance Court was redeveloping or doing the adaptive reuse
4:02
Speaker 6: on the property what would ultimately become the market. The
4:09
Speaker 6: building had been in a state of neglect, and you know,
4:12
Speaker 6: over the years after it ceased being a freight depot
4:15
Speaker 6: for the rail for the rail yard, it had been
4:19
Speaker 6: the recycling center for Kanwall County at one point. There
4:21
Speaker 6: are photos that we have from Charleston newspapers, so just
4:25
Speaker 6: you remember back when they you know, newspapers, there's things.
4:28
Speaker 3: You would.
4:31
Speaker 6: They would have those bulk just giant bails paper that
4:38
Speaker 6: they would use to store for their production over on
4:41
Speaker 6: the boulevard. And what became clear was that this property
4:50
Speaker 6: was you know, the market really came out of the
4:54
Speaker 6: infancy of its existence.
4:56
Speaker 7: You know, this was a.
4:58
Speaker 6: Gem of a property and it was worth preserving. And
5:01
Speaker 6: so we had several board members and people that were
5:04
Speaker 6: transformative in the creation of the market really pushed to
5:08
Speaker 6: make this happen.
5:09
Speaker 7: And it's not an.
5:11
Speaker 3: Easier quick process.
5:14
Speaker 6: We actually had to hire what is called a architectural historian,
5:18
Speaker 6: and as you can imagine, there.
5:19
Speaker 7: Aren't a ton of those.
5:20
Speaker 6: Yeah, and so through a lot of research and you know,
5:28
Speaker 6: reference digging, and we were able to, with the support
5:33
Speaker 6: of the State Historic Preservation Office, develop our nomination to
5:38
Speaker 6: the Department of the Interior and they and so the
5:41
Speaker 6: state vetted through the state and then ultimately to the
5:44
Speaker 6: federal level level. And so found out that this was
5:47
Speaker 6: probably gonna happen shortly after the first of the year,
5:51
Speaker 6: and Friday was sort of the culmination of it's official.
5:55
Speaker 3: We're there.
5:56
Speaker 5: And again you said, you that you folks had to
5:58
Speaker 5: hire somebody kind of help with because it's not something
6:01
Speaker 5: that you know, the average everyday person is going to be.
6:03
Speaker 3: Able to do.
6:05
Speaker 5: What is that process like as far as how the
6:08
Speaker 5: market was was chosen for this, I mean, how to
6:11
Speaker 5: how do the people that how do the people that
6:13
Speaker 5: do the choose and do the choosing.
6:14
Speaker 6: So it's a competitive process. And I think I mentioned
6:19
Speaker 6: this previously that you know, a property is not historically
6:22
Speaker 6: significant just because it is old, right, there has to
6:24
Speaker 6: be something of note or significance that you know, has
6:31
Speaker 6: occurred within within the space. It does have to be
6:35
Speaker 6: I believe at least fifty years old, So it can't
6:38
Speaker 6: you know, just be a new property that you know,
6:40
Speaker 6: happen to have something very important happen.
6:42
Speaker 7: Uh, it's kind of funny.
6:43
Speaker 6: One of our tenants that may or may not be
6:45
Speaker 6: the father of your senior producer, said that it was
6:48
Speaker 6: now historically significant because they invested in the markets.
6:51
Speaker 3: Yes there, you'll love that yell.
6:53
Speaker 6: But it's uh, you know, we look at you know,
7:00
Speaker 6: the steel and coal and the raw materials that were
7:04
Speaker 6: used really just like you know, for example, to drive
7:06
Speaker 6: the development of the American auto industry and so daily
7:11
Speaker 6: you know, all of those we were going through and
7:13
Speaker 6: coming back and over the years, what we saw is
7:20
Speaker 6: that there was a tremendous amount of interest just from
7:22
Speaker 6: a tourism standpoint, and people wanting to know more specifically
7:25
Speaker 6: about the Canall Michigan rail line. Who owned, what, what
7:28
Speaker 6: did they do? Who are they today? What have they
7:30
Speaker 6: evolved out of? And so if you ever look closely
7:32
Speaker 6: at the market, you can still see the remnants of
7:33
Speaker 6: a lot of the train tracks that actually sort of
7:37
Speaker 6: well still about the rear end of the market. You
7:39
Speaker 6: know that that that line is still used today by
7:42
Speaker 6: Norfolk Southern. In fact, we actually lease the back half
7:45
Speaker 6: of our property, we do not own it from Norfolk.
7:47
Speaker 5: So I didn't know that talking to having Osborne again
7:51
Speaker 5: from Capital mark of a Dave Island showing five eighty
7:53
Speaker 5: live broad to you part by your hometown baseball chief
7:55
Speaker 5: of the Charleston Dirty Birds off night tonight for the
7:57
Speaker 5: Birds that begin a road series at Lexington Tomorrow night
7:59
Speaker 5: before five, finally returning home at the long road trip
8:03
Speaker 5: to Go Ballpark Friday night's take on Gastonia. Ticket schedules, promotions,
8:07
Speaker 5: merchant more visit Dirty Birds Baseball dot com. Right, So,
8:10
Speaker 5: I guess the next big question is is what does
8:13
Speaker 5: this mean for the future at Capital Market.
8:15
Speaker 7: So it does a couple of things.
8:16
Speaker 6: First and foremost, it protects the property for the foreseeable future.
8:21
Speaker 6: You know, if the Federal Highway Administration ever wanted to
8:25
Speaker 6: widen the interstate that is directly over us, it would
8:29
Speaker 6: protect certainly our property in the adjoining space from any
8:33
Speaker 6: future encroachment. It leverages a lot of grant opportunities, So
8:38
Speaker 6: we've already and we've already started seeing that come to fruition.
8:42
Speaker 6: So in the next two years, Capital Market stands to
8:47
Speaker 6: invest about three and a half million dollars back into
8:50
Speaker 6: the market infrastructure. So a lot of people are sometimes
8:54
Speaker 6: surprised sometimes not to learn that we operate Capital Market
8:58
Speaker 6: as a five oh one c three nonprofits. We're able
9:00
Speaker 6: to pursue those grand opportunities and put that money directly
9:03
Speaker 6: back into our small businesses, our farmers, and then ultimately,
9:07
Speaker 6: now where we've really expanded food access programs throughout the market,
9:10
Speaker 6: give that directly back to our customers.
9:13
Speaker 5: And one of the great things, and you and I
9:14
Speaker 5: have talked about it, Evan, when you've been on the
9:15
Speaker 5: show in the past, is the anytime anybody comes to
9:20
Speaker 5: Charleston and they say, what do I need to do
9:23
Speaker 5: while I'm here? I've gave the reference of my wife's
9:26
Speaker 5: company that's in Charleston, and you know, they would have
9:28
Speaker 5: people come in for different conferences and meetings, and maybe
9:31
Speaker 5: they'd have time in the evenings.
9:32
Speaker 3: Like they always ask, well, what do I need to
9:33
Speaker 3: do in town?
9:34
Speaker 5: Invariably, no matter who you ask, one of the spots
9:37
Speaker 5: is always Capital Market because there's so many things going
9:41
Speaker 5: on there. It's not just about the great food, which
9:43
Speaker 5: there is a lot of great food, and the wine
9:46
Speaker 5: shop and the cheat and the chocolate and the restaurants,
9:49
Speaker 5: but there's a whole lot more to it than just that.
9:52
Speaker 5: And everybody that comes to Charleston. I mean I've had
9:55
Speaker 5: people friends of mine and people associates who come in
9:58
Speaker 5: from all over the country. I have said I wish
10:00
Speaker 5: we had that in our city. And there are cities
10:03
Speaker 5: a whole lot larger than Charleston. I mean, this isn't
10:06
Speaker 5: something that you see everywhere.
10:07
Speaker 6: I don't take for granted just how special and how
10:11
Speaker 6: lucky one to be able to serve as the director
10:15
Speaker 6: of the market. You know, I think I really view
10:18
Speaker 6: this as the community's market. And you know, I'm very
10:23
Speaker 6: fortunate often most of the time to get to get
10:30
Speaker 6: to lead it. And so I don't take that for granted.
10:33
Speaker 6: And you know, I want anyone whether they're local, whether
10:36
Speaker 6: they're visiting for the first time, or whether you know,
10:39
Speaker 6: they're traveling. We often hear from folks that are driving
10:43
Speaker 6: to the beach that they have to stop every year
10:45
Speaker 6: at the market to pick something up on the way
10:47
Speaker 6: to the beach. And so, you know, regardless first time,
10:51
Speaker 6: last time, you're here five times a week, I want
10:53
Speaker 6: your experience to be you know, amazing from from start
10:56
Speaker 6: to finish. And that I think one is really driven
10:59
Speaker 6: by you know, our our indoor tenants, our outdoor farmers,
11:03
Speaker 6: and and the folks that, particularly today with one hundred
11:06
Speaker 6: plus degree temperatures, pour their blood, sweat and tears into
11:10
Speaker 6: making this a wholly unique experience, not just in West
11:14
Speaker 6: Virginia but throughout the country.
11:15
Speaker 3: What can we expect on the horizon for Capital Market?
11:19
Speaker 6: I mean first and foremost, because I've had nine texts
11:21
Speaker 6: this morning about it is corn cornriving today? Okay, ye corn.
11:28
Speaker 6: It's one of those dates every year that we.
11:29
Speaker 3: Circle today's corn day.
11:31
Speaker 6: Today is corn day. And I will tell you that
11:34
Speaker 6: it was probably picked less than three.
11:36
Speaker 3: Hours ago, okay, And where did it come from?
11:39
Speaker 6: Uh, this would have been towards Ravenswood and then Putnam
11:46
Speaker 6: County probably. You know, you get weird geographic anomalies in
11:51
Speaker 6: the certain pockets of reson. So and then I want
11:55
Speaker 6: to say, uh, Robbie's Produce, which is out towards uh
11:59
Speaker 6: it's look to the right of the Quincy Walmart. That
12:01
Speaker 6: is actually one of the farms for Capital Market.
12:06
Speaker 7: Have to check. But definitely this week.
12:09
Speaker 5: Okay, what are their big announcements to what other activities
12:11
Speaker 5: you have going? I know you just had the June
12:14
Speaker 5: teenth event over there on this past week, but what
12:17
Speaker 5: else is coming up in the future.
12:18
Speaker 6: Yeah, we're so we're excited to partner with Regatta again
12:20
Speaker 6: for what is now the fourth and I'm sorry third
12:24
Speaker 6: installment of our All Fired Up Kids Barbecue Contest and
12:28
Speaker 6: it's a whole lot of fun. So actually it is
12:29
Speaker 6: one of the first events this year ever got it's Thursday,
12:32
Speaker 6: July third, and it is a kid's barbecue contest and
12:37
Speaker 6: it's it's conceptually, I think it's a lot of fun.
12:41
Speaker 6: We give each kid, each participant sixteen and under one
12:45
Speaker 6: hundred dollars market gift card and thirty minutes to go
12:47
Speaker 6: shop for their ingredients and then come back and then
12:50
Speaker 6: they have ninety minutes to prepare their ultimate meal.
12:53
Speaker 3: And just in.
12:55
Speaker 6: The past couple of years that we've done this, to
12:58
Speaker 6: see just the creativity that lives within these young kids
13:04
Speaker 6: and are you know I couldn't boil water when I
13:07
Speaker 6: was their age And to see these plates that they're
13:09
Speaker 6: putting out, one of them former winner actually I believe
13:13
Speaker 6: got hired by that Paul Smith guy. Oh really, yeah,
13:16
Speaker 6: So it's you know, and and again it's part of
13:19
Speaker 6: that reinvestment, not just you know, teaching these young kids
13:27
Speaker 6: how to not only shop the market, but really lifting
13:31
Speaker 6: up our local culinary scene. I think, you know, look
13:35
Speaker 6: at what's happened since Paul won the James Beard Award,
13:39
Speaker 6: and there is this momentum that I don't think really
13:43
Speaker 6: was all that recognized within apple Achian cuisine over the
13:46
Speaker 6: past several years. And so it's really really exciting to
13:48
Speaker 6: be a small part of that.
13:50
Speaker 5: All right, Evan, always good stuff going on over Capital market.
13:54
Speaker 5: Congratulations on this distinction. So it's a pretty big deal
13:56
Speaker 5: for Charleston to be able to have this and for
13:58
Speaker 5: West Virginia in general because this is not just a
14:00
Speaker 5: Charleston thing. This is a statewide and a regional thing.
14:04
Speaker 5: And it's always always good to be recognized. I appreciate
14:08

Speaker 3: Visit Bridge Valley dot ed U. Danny Jones is here. Hey,
17:32
Speaker 3: doing buddy.
17:33
Speaker 7: I'm doing fine. Thanks for having me.
17:35
Speaker 5: Thank you for being here. As I said at the onset, Danny,
17:38
Speaker 5: the world has changed a lot since Saturday evening, and
17:41
Speaker 5: I don't know it's I was at an event Saturday
17:44
Speaker 5: night and my phone, you know, went off with an alert.
17:46
Speaker 5: That and the only thing I could think of as well,
17:49
Speaker 5: here we go, and I'm talking about the Trump administration,
17:53
Speaker 5: uh and the obliterating his words, the nuclear capability of Iran.
18:01
Speaker 7: Your thoughts, I was, I go to bed early, so
18:07
Speaker 7: I didn't hear it when it happened. We'll always wake
18:10
Speaker 7: up in the middle of night. Get on my phone
18:13
Speaker 7: headline Trump bonb to Ron so I am watch me up.
18:21
Speaker 7: I get on television I've got a TV on my phone,
18:25
Speaker 7: and I went to MSNBC, you know, because I don't
18:29
Speaker 7: watch it, and they were on Sky News. In other words,
18:33
Speaker 7: they run reruns overnight, but because this was breaking news,
18:37
Speaker 7: they got to feed until they could get their people.
18:41
Speaker 7: And at six o'clock in the morning, CNN was live
18:44
Speaker 7: and Fox was circling live, and I watched all three.
18:48
Speaker 3: News Nation also was live.
18:51
Speaker 7: I missed that one.
18:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm a fan of not Newsmax News Nation.
18:54
Speaker 3: I like Andrew and.
18:58
Speaker 7: And I like Leland, and they've got some people in
19:03
Speaker 7: there I like. But I've never seen anything like this.
19:11
Speaker 7: And you know, I'll be seventy five in August. And
19:17
Speaker 7: it's funny when you have an event like this, the
19:22
Speaker 7: people that you didn't identify with politically, all of a
19:27
Speaker 7: sudden you do, and the people you did you don't.
19:31
Speaker 7: And I think it's specifically of I don't watch TV
19:35
Speaker 7: too much in the morning. I listen to you guys,
19:36
Speaker 7: or I'm reading this morning. Ted Cruise is on Fox
19:40
Speaker 7: and Friends, not a show I usually watched. There, I
19:46
Speaker 7: was man, I'm with Ted. And then on ABC News
19:50
Speaker 7: on Sunday morning, you had this Iranian guy who was
19:55
Speaker 7: all for it. You had Chris Christie when I President
19:59
Speaker 7: Trump critics, he was all for Adam Kin Singer, he
20:04
Speaker 7: was all for me. I'm all for it. Yet people,
20:11
Speaker 7: there's a lot of Democrats and it's there, it's their choice.
20:15
Speaker 7: People have different views.
20:17
Speaker 3: The AOC is calling for impeachment based on this.
20:20
Speaker 7: That is that that's not surprising. But I was really
20:24
Speaker 7: surprised by the senator from Arizona. It's an astronaut, Scott
20:30
Speaker 7: Mark Mark Mark Kelly. He came out against and I
20:34
Speaker 7: was surprised.
20:34
Speaker 5: On one of the shows yesterday morning. I'm not sure
20:36
Speaker 5: which one. I was slipping around and uh, I'm not
20:40
Speaker 5: sure which show. Maybe maybe the ABC show. I'm not sure,
20:43
Speaker 5: but yeah, I was on NBC. I watched Okay, I saw.
20:46
Speaker 3: His comments yesterday when he was he was interviewed. So
20:49
Speaker 3: you say you support it, Why.
20:51
Speaker 7: What choice did he have? I mean, it's a dangerous,
20:57
Speaker 7: dangerous bunch of people. It's a cult. They worshiped death,
21:02
Speaker 7: we worshiped life. And I lived through nineteen seventy nine
21:09
Speaker 7: and it was I remember the hatred and when you
21:15
Speaker 7: have tens of thousands of people channing death to American
21:19
Speaker 7: the streets maybe I'll believe them.
21:23
Speaker 5: It's and I remember that to day, and of course
21:24
Speaker 5: I was a kid, but I do remember. I mean
21:27
Speaker 5: the network news every night starting with you know of
21:32
Speaker 5: Frank Reynolds on ABC. You know, well that, yeah, that's
21:36
Speaker 5: actually how Nightline got started. More on that a little
21:38
Speaker 5: bit later, but I'm talking about the six thirty news
21:42
Speaker 5: every night started day one sixty seven. It was always, always,
21:46
Speaker 5: always the lead story. And it was a time, you know,
21:51
Speaker 5: as in nineteen seventy nine, when we had not had
21:55
Speaker 5: a quote unquote you know, a conflict since Vietnam ended,
22:00
Speaker 5: and it was just different because you didn't hear about
22:03
Speaker 5: all the I mean, obviously there were always things going
22:05
Speaker 5: on in the Mid East, but it really didn't involve America.
22:07
Speaker 5: But then when we saw on TV, and again I'm
22:10
Speaker 5: a kid, and I see these hostages being brought out
22:14
Speaker 5: with tape, oh not even actual blindfolds, like tape over
22:17
Speaker 5: their eyes, and it was, as you said, and I
22:21
Speaker 5: said this, and I've said this in the past on
22:23
Speaker 5: this show, Danny many many times. During World War Two,
22:25
Speaker 5: my grandfather, my late grandfather, served in Iran and Iraq,
22:29
Speaker 5: and people kind of forget that there was a military
22:31
Speaker 5: presence over there.
22:33
Speaker 7: But the how when was that David forty early.
22:36
Speaker 5: Forties, Yeah, he was over there then, and when in
22:39
Speaker 5: nineteen ninety when when when the Persian Gulf christ was
22:43
Speaker 5: happened and Kuwait or was taken was taken over by Iraq.
22:47
Speaker 5: My grandfather then said, this is a mistake us getting
22:52
Speaker 5: involved in this. He said, because I'm telling you we
22:55
Speaker 5: are never going to get out of that part of
22:58
Speaker 5: the world.
22:59
Speaker 3: And he was being very rod when.
23:00
Speaker 5: He said that part of the world, because his take was,
23:04
Speaker 5: you know, say what you want about our battles in
23:06
Speaker 5: World War Two, we had things in common with Germany
23:10
Speaker 5: in Japan. Like you said, it was we didn't want
23:12
Speaker 5: to lose life. And I'm not trying to paint the people.
23:16
Speaker 5: I'm talking about the the the administration.
23:18
Speaker 7: I understand they.
23:22
Speaker 5: Life is not that big to them, even their own.
23:25
Speaker 5: And again that's what I'm talking about, the administration, not
23:27
Speaker 5: the people, and it's it's it's just different.
23:31
Speaker 7: The majority, the majority of the people in the I disagree,
23:35
Speaker 7: but you know, that's what life's about. But I'm glad
23:39
Speaker 7: we went to Kuwait. You got to remember, I saw
23:42
Speaker 7: Schwarzkov speak when he got here and they were one
23:46
Speaker 7: hundred and fifty miles from when they were in Iraq.
23:49
Speaker 7: They were one hundred and fifty miles. They could have
23:51
Speaker 7: gone in and grabbed your seam and you could tell
23:54
Speaker 7: by his speech he wanted to go. Bush Senior said no,
23:58
Speaker 7: he knew what he was doing. The young one didn't.
24:02
Speaker 7: And we're being penalized by the young one. Now. Don't
24:06
Speaker 7: get me wrong, I voted for him twice. I like
24:07
Speaker 7: the guy I met him, super nice guy. He was
24:11
Speaker 7: just wrong. People make mistakes. That was a big one
24:15
Speaker 7: and cost a lot of American lives and having been
24:19
Speaker 7: in a war that was unpopular. I mean, we lost
24:26
Speaker 7: some people death to people that served there. People join
24:33
Speaker 7: the service to go there, and it was just one
24:36
Speaker 7: big mistake. People make them. But they're worried about some
24:41
Speaker 7: people reasonably worry about that now. And President Trump is
24:45
Speaker 7: not the best messenger for this conflict. He's fine with me.
24:50
Speaker 7: I don't like him, but he's fine with me on this.
24:54
Speaker 7: And you've got these isolationists like Taulcy Gabbern out of
25:00
Speaker 7: Tucker Carlton, I'm just I'm sorry, I just can't stand
25:03
Speaker 7: him and Steve Bann Steve Benn's luck he's not locked up.
25:08
Speaker 7: But they're isolationists. We had an isolationist movement before World
25:16
Speaker 7: War Two. It was called Guess What America First and
25:20
Speaker 7: was led by a guy named Charles Lindbergh and President
25:25
Speaker 7: Roosevelt one of his one of the books written about him.
25:29
Speaker 7: You know, he was a whatever you think about the
25:31
Speaker 7: New Day, he was a great leader. And he told
25:34
Speaker 7: one of his cabinet members, if I die tomorrow, Linburgh
25:39
Speaker 7: the a Nazi. Today he's a Nazi. Tomorrow he's a Nazi.
25:44
Speaker 7: And then you get these pictures of Lindbergh over there
25:46
Speaker 7: regurring except an awards. They they he almost married him
25:53
Speaker 7: at the thirty six Olympics, I mean, and then we
25:57
Speaker 7: were bombed and he wanted to join in Roosevelt, So
26:00
Speaker 7: are you kidding me? You know, we had an America
26:04
Speaker 7: First movement. So when people criticized Trump, everybody's entire of
26:10
Speaker 7: their opinion. God, as I get older, I realized, you know,
26:14
Speaker 7: you're not right about everything, but what's your way? That's
26:21
Speaker 7: what I would laugh. How would you deal with these things?
26:23
Speaker 5: And I don't think anybody again we're talking to Danny Jones.
26:26
Speaker 5: I don't think anybody would argue that the world is
26:31
Speaker 5: not a safer place without Iran having the capability of
26:36
Speaker 5: nuclear weapons. The problem that a lot of people have
26:39
Speaker 5: said is that, and a lot of the Democrats have
26:43
Speaker 5: come out, a lot of liberals have come out, and
26:44
Speaker 5: others and some Republicans have come out and said, we
26:46
Speaker 5: had no reason to believe that they had the capability
26:48
Speaker 5: to make nuclear weapons.
26:49
Speaker 3: You were thought on that. You study this stuff, your thought, Oh.
26:52
Speaker 7: We absolutely knew they were making and they were enrich
26:55
Speaker 7: and all that Uranian. Last night, somebody had my parking
27:00
Speaker 7: space over in the towns or in the parking garage
27:04
Speaker 7: on Dickinson Street. So I parked my car on the street.
27:09
Speaker 7: Somebody got in it. I should not have had a
27:12
Speaker 7: park on the street. I mean, how what what do
27:16
Speaker 7: you need? Is a warning? They're yelling to tell you
27:20
Speaker 7: what do you what do you need? And you know maybe,
27:27
Speaker 7: I mean, I've got those piece instincts too. I'm a
27:32
Speaker 7: veteran one of those unpopular wars. But I think he
27:39
Speaker 7: was right. I don't think he's right about much, but
27:42
Speaker 7: he's right about that. Ted Cruz not a guy identified
27:46
Speaker 7: with There's a guy that works for Fox named Lawrence Jones,
27:50
Speaker 7: the same name as my brother, as a black guy,
27:52
Speaker 7: do you know what I'm talking about? Got in an
27:54
Speaker 7: urban way about him, kind of like a listening to him.
27:58
Speaker 7: And it was on with Brett and sometimes the simplest
28:02
Speaker 7: deliveries of the best. And he said, you know, he said,
28:06
Speaker 7: I hear a lot of people talk about Iran how
28:08
Speaker 7: good it was under the Shaw. He said, we need
28:11
Speaker 7: to know a lot of people over didn't like the Shaw.
28:14
Speaker 7: The Shaw is good for us. And he still he
28:18
Speaker 7: still is. I mean, I wish Carter would have saved him.
28:22
Speaker 7: But when you allow one kind of despotism to flourish,
28:30
Speaker 7: when it's when you can see your handprints on it,
28:33
Speaker 7: another kind of despotism will flourish that is against you.
28:38
Speaker 7: We saw it in the Soviet Union. Nixon warned us
28:41
Speaker 7: about it. He said, if we don't help them get
28:44
Speaker 7: through this time for their transition into freedom, we will
28:50
Speaker 7: pay later on. I could play you the tape. He
28:52
Speaker 7: didn't say it like that, but that's what he said.
28:56
Speaker 7: And another imperfect guy. But you know, he's wife and
29:04
Speaker 7: he wrote books about it. And we need to listen
29:07
Speaker 7: to people as they talk about these things. And I'm
29:13
Speaker 7: sorry where where we are?
29:17
Speaker 3: So what happens next?
29:17
Speaker 7: In your opinion, you got to think about Iran, What
29:25
Speaker 7: the hell they'll retaliate? So you think if you were them,
29:28
Speaker 7: how would you retally? They're not coming? I mean, first thing,
29:31
Speaker 7: he's got sleeper sells here that might retaliate big. But
29:35
Speaker 7: you've heard them. What you're going to do is try
29:40
Speaker 7: to find out the name of the people flying those
29:42
Speaker 7: planes and kill them. Their names will eventually be out there.
29:48
Speaker 7: Find the name of the go find a CIA guy
29:51
Speaker 7: in Virginia that Ben Affleck made the movie about. He's
29:56
Speaker 7: still killing the Prince of Iran.
30:01
Speaker 13: PA.
30:02
Speaker 7: He's still killing Christy Known. I'm not a fan. She
30:09
Speaker 7: was having that press conference, you know, and here comes
30:12
Speaker 7: in that United States senator. Kill her. They could kill her,
30:18
Speaker 7: they could kill anyone of his cabinets. It could kill
30:21
Speaker 7: Steve Miller, they could kill Senator Cruz. They kill you,
30:24
Speaker 7: kill me. These people worship death and we worship life.
30:30
Speaker 5: I am, and we'll say this is good or break.
30:33
Speaker 5: But when when this happened and everybody and you know
30:36
Speaker 5: it was I think I don't know that. I think
30:39
Speaker 5: maybe the timing might have been a surprise, but it
30:42
Speaker 5: wasn't a surprise that it happened.
30:43
Speaker 3: I don't think.
30:45
Speaker 5: And automatically, you know, people start talking about, as you said, retaliation, retaliation,
30:50
Speaker 5: Well I am, I am just as concerned. I'm more
30:53
Speaker 5: concerned about the people living in America right now than
30:56
Speaker 5: I am about the people living in Iran uh. And
30:59
Speaker 5: whether it's empathizers or whether it's people that, because of
31:02
Speaker 5: the Internet or whatever, just a couple of sandwiches short
31:04
Speaker 5: of a picnic, they scare me a lot more than
31:07
Speaker 5: what anybody living.
31:08
Speaker 3: In iron does.
31:11
Speaker 5: Fair enough, I mean, because we're seeing this now and again,
31:17
Speaker 5: this is a I mean, look look what we I
31:22
Speaker 5: guess after September eleventh, Danny, it seemed like there was
31:27
Speaker 5: such a unification of America.
31:30
Speaker 3: I don't know.
31:31
Speaker 5: There were a few people on September twelfth that came
31:35
Speaker 5: out and said, pumped the brakes, we don't want to
31:40
Speaker 5: think about our next move right now, let's just mourn.
31:42
Speaker 5: But the majority of people in America September twelfth, two
31:44
Speaker 5: thousand and one, the majority of people in America were like,
31:48
Speaker 5: let's go, you know, let's roll. They're all one big
31:52
Speaker 5: Toby Keith song, you know, you know, let's go and
31:55
Speaker 5: I'm going to say I was one of them.
31:57
Speaker 3: You know, we're not.
32:00
Speaker 5: We're not today where we were back then, and immediately
32:06
Speaker 5: I don't think that on September twelfth, two thousand and one.
32:09
Speaker 5: I don't know that an AOC or a Bernie Sanders
32:13
Speaker 5: or anybody like that comes out and immediately or people
32:17
Speaker 5: of the Republican Party, which we've seen plenty of come
32:20
Speaker 5: out and immediately speak out against what President Trump did
32:24
Speaker 5: on Saturday night.
32:25
Speaker 7: They'll be there. They're already starting me.
32:28
Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
32:28
Speaker 5: I'm saying that back then I don't know, but that
32:31
Speaker 5: that they would have done that I can.
32:33
Speaker 3: Tell quick, yeah, yeah, go ahead.
32:35
Speaker 7: I'm watching Overnight on Fox on Saturday night, and there's
32:39
Speaker 7: a guy I met on the street of Washington. See
32:42
Speaker 7: this's Saturday night. It's Saturday before nine to eleven, I mean,
32:46
Speaker 7: d see with el On Ratner. There's a few people
32:48
Speaker 7: who remember her. And Julian Epstein is walking on the street.
32:54
Speaker 7: I know who he is, in your faced Democrat John
32:58
Speaker 7: Conyer's lawyer defend the Clinton's on impeachment. And I walked
33:03
Speaker 7: up and introduced myself. Such a nice guy. He was
33:08
Speaker 7: on Fox with Frace Gallagher. Is that his name, that's name.
33:15
Speaker 3: I haven't heard it in a while.
33:16
Speaker 7: Yeah, And he was talking about the Obama Biden time
33:24
Speaker 7: of appeasement. I'm thinking, wow, come on, come to me, Julian.
33:33
Speaker 7: I mean, I was shocked. And he's he's sixty two
33:38
Speaker 7: sixty three now, And people say, Okay, he's Jewish. Mark
33:43
Speaker 7: Apprin's Jewish. They're liberals, They're all for President Trump. And
33:49
Speaker 7: Chris Christie's not Jewish and I'm not. And a lot
33:55
Speaker 7: of people speaking out are n't. And I'm so down
34:03
Speaker 7: with Israel a Mamazionist. If you're for the existence, it
34:08
Speaker 7: is for yours Dinist. So they might kill you, might

36:48
Speaker 5: are despicable. Bin Laden, Mohammad Atta and other u the

36:53
Speaker 5: fires of hell, laughing at how much easier the left
36:57

37:07
Speaker 5: Text says, I'm heading to d C tomorrow for business
37:10
Speaker 5: for a few days. I'm pretty nervous about it, says
37:12
Speaker 5: the text.
37:13
Speaker 7: There's some election tomorrow in New York City. It's gonna
37:17
Speaker 7: affect us all. And w if Cuomo doesn't win the
37:21
Speaker 7: Democrat primary and they elect that socialist, he's for a wrong,
37:28
Speaker 7: He's against this country, he's against you and me, Charleston,
37:33
Speaker 7: West Virginia guns everything we believe in, and it will
37:39
Speaker 7: affect every single one of.
37:41
Speaker 3: Us, even in New York City.
37:43
Speaker 7: More, I mean it will affect us all. I mean Bloomberg,
37:49
Speaker 7: you know, Andrew Crome or what is that his name?
37:52
Speaker 7: Andrew Cuomo, that's a hard pill of swallow. But once again,
37:56
Speaker 7: what's your way? And Bloomberg's on board with him. President
38:01
Speaker 7: Clinton's on board with him. And I just pray wins
38:05
Speaker 7: because it didn't win. This socialist wins the next four
38:09
Speaker 7: years in DC. You think Deblossia was bad and the
38:14
Speaker 7: usual suspects of endorsed h AOC Bernie Sanders and he'll
38:20
Speaker 7: be cheering for Iran.
38:22
Speaker 5: Tex says if Iran had any sense of retaliation, they
38:25
Speaker 5: retaliate in a way that makes the US economily economy uncomfortable.
38:29
Speaker 5: If they come from blood, America will go right back
38:31
Speaker 5: for blood. If Iran messages with our economy, will be
38:34
Speaker 5: stirred up like hornets, blaming and stinging each other. I
38:38
Speaker 5: have said this before and many and I'm certainly I
38:40
Speaker 5: didn't serve it a military, but many military experts have
38:44
Speaker 5: said that the big battles are going to happen, They're
38:48
Speaker 5: more likely to happen in that little thing that we
38:50
Speaker 5: carry in our pocket, in our phones, than what they
38:53
Speaker 5: are in the skies over America or anywhere else, because
38:57
Speaker 5: infrastructure is where it's an infrastructure cybersecurity. That's the new
39:02
Speaker 5: battlefield more than what it was when you served in Vietnam.
39:05
Speaker 5: That's where the battles are going to be right now. Now,
39:07
Speaker 5: is Iran in my opinion, is Iran going to I mean,
39:09
Speaker 5: there's going to be retaliation, but I don't I don't
39:11
Speaker 5: think it's going to be retaliation in the way that
39:13
Speaker 5: we think it's gonna be retaliation.
39:15
Speaker 7: It'll be their confederates could be red, China could be putin.
39:21
Speaker 7: It could be uh. I mean, one of the Iranian
39:23
Speaker 7: people is going to see putin now. I don't know
39:26
Speaker 7: if you saw.
39:27
Speaker 3: That, but yeah, i'd actually read that this morning.
39:29
Speaker 7: Yeah, and the obvious thing for them to do, and
39:34
Speaker 7: they said they're gonna do it. I don't believe them.
39:36
Speaker 7: They're gonna block the straight of hor move and that'll
39:39
Speaker 7: lead to big war, not just with us. But I
39:43
Speaker 7: was kind of taken back by the people that didn't
39:46
Speaker 7: support our president and the people British Prime Minister, he's
39:50
Speaker 7: right there. The crone's a little bit iffy, but nothing
39:55
Speaker 7: from NATO, you know, like crickets. And you know, Trump's
40:03
Speaker 7: a hard guy to sell a message because so many
40:05
Speaker 7: people are just some people will be for Iran because
40:08
Speaker 7: they hate Trump. And I'm encourage him. Don't go down
40:11
Speaker 7: that road. It's not a good road to be on.
40:15
Speaker 5: I mean, I think that's that's kind of where we
40:18
Speaker 5: are in the American political consciousness right now. And I'll
40:23
Speaker 5: just leave it here forget about the other countries for
40:24
Speaker 5: a moment. We are so dug in with tribalism, Danny,
40:28
Speaker 5: and we are so all about our side and that
40:30
Speaker 5: the other guy sucks that we can't see beyond that.
40:34
Speaker 5: And that goes on on both fronts for both. I mean,
40:37
Speaker 5: they're trying to me. Look, I'm not a Trump guy.
40:39
Speaker 5: I voted as you know, I voted for him twice,
40:42
Speaker 5: did not vote for him this past time. However, he's
40:45
Speaker 5: my president and I want him to do well, and
40:46
Speaker 5: I want America to do well. But Trump derangement syndrome
40:50
Speaker 5: is a real thing, and it's a disease. And conversely,
40:55
Speaker 5: these people that are out to own the Libs are
40:58
Speaker 5: pretty much the same, very much the same way, Texas,
41:02
Speaker 5: Trump pulled us into a war, the same way w
41:04
Speaker 5: took us to war in Iraq needlessly, Danny. I hope
41:07
Speaker 5: you lead our young soldiers over there now.
41:10
Speaker 7: I'm sorry you feel that way.
41:13

41:14

41:23
Speaker 5: So they don't know how we all came together to
41:25
Speaker 5: support and save each other. Race, gender, religion did not matter.
41:29
Speaker 5: They don't get that, Texas, how do we forget nine
41:33
Speaker 5: to eleven?
41:34
Speaker 7: I want to reach out to the gods. Texted to
41:37
Speaker 7: my friends that are against President Trump. I'm not for him.
41:42
Speaker 7: I want to reach out to him at this moment
41:45
Speaker 7: and tell them that I know you're disappointed in me,
41:52
Speaker 7: but once again, politely, let's talk, because what's your way.
41:58
Speaker 7: I'm with you, I mean help me. If you don't
42:01
Speaker 7: like what I'm saying, at least think about it, and
42:08
Speaker 7: once again, what's your way. I don't think we're gonna
42:11
Speaker 7: have troops in a war unless we are actually victimized
42:17

47:28

47:31
Speaker 3: this country than any president in my sixty eight years
47:34
Speaker 3: of life.
47:35
Speaker 7: Breagan. My personal opinions Reagan, but you know he started
47:40
Speaker 7: that war with the Soviet Union, the Arms Ration. They
47:42
Speaker 7: couldn't compete, so they folded and we were free. We
47:46
Speaker 7: have a free Eastern Europe today because of President Reagan
47:49
Speaker 7: and then Vice President Bush. And I'm glad Reagan lived

Speaker 7: about these despots.
48:03
Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, you're right.
48:04
Speaker 7: And he went to the Shaw's funeral and he was

48:13
Speaker 7: in danger by having the funeral. He said he was
48:17
Speaker 7: my friend. You know, Shaw was our friend. But then
48:22
Speaker 7: you think about what Laurence Jones said. A lot of
48:25
Speaker 7: people didn't like the Shaw. Most of the people in
48:27
Speaker 7: rom don't like these mulas. But they don't control things.
48:31

49:01
Speaker 7: shaved his mustache and goatee and shaved his eyebrows and
49:04
Speaker 7: got on an airplane flew it to Paris. They were
49:07
Speaker 7: going to kill him. They killed Bokdar Bochtiyar was the
49:12
Speaker 7: last Prime minister of Iran. He went to Paris, he
49:16
Speaker 7: was speaking out against them. They killed him. I'm surprised

49:36
Speaker 5: Let me ask you this question, Danny, with the current
49:40
Speaker 5: situation that is going on with Israel and all that's
49:45
Speaker 5: going on over there and now Iran, do you feel
49:48
Speaker 5: more comfortable with President Trump in control than you would
49:52
Speaker 5: have with Joe Biden.
49:53
Speaker 7: Well, if you had Joe Biden, you wouldn't have had
49:55
Speaker 7: the strike. If you have Kamala Hersh wouldn't have the
49:58
Speaker 7: strike because they were I mean, Biden didn't know where
50:03
Speaker 7: he was, Kamal Harris wouldn't give an interview. And I
50:10
Speaker 7: mean on that moment, sure, I mean, what's your way
50:15
Speaker 7: to the people don't like him? I'm here, I'm listening.
50:19
Speaker 7: I'm for you. I mean, I understand your feelings. I
50:21
Speaker 7: don't like him either.
50:23
Speaker 5: But nobody seems to have a response other And again,
50:27
Speaker 5: not to be too philosophical, Danny, but it goes back
50:29
Speaker 5: to where our political system is right now. The only
50:32
Speaker 5: thing that people and I'm not talking about in West Virginia.
50:34
Speaker 5: I'm talking about outside West Virginia.
50:36
Speaker 3: The only thing that we have.
50:38
Speaker 5: To run on, it seems, is I ain't him or
50:40
Speaker 5: I ain't her. You know that was you know, you
50:43
Speaker 5: got to elect Trump because he's better than Biden and
50:45
Speaker 5: better than Harris. Okay and Harris when Biden comes out
50:48
Speaker 5: and Harris comes out and basically all they had to
50:50
Speaker 5: say was we're not Donald Trump. That's not enough, in
50:53
