- 0:03Speaker 2: Well, hey there, welcome to this week's Out of Zion podcast.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm your host, Dr. Susan Michael.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And today we are going to continue our series talking
- 0:15Speaker 2: about the problem of antisemitism. But this is really important today.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I want you to stick with me as we're going
- 0:21Speaker 2: to talk about the biblical explanation for antisemitism. I know
- 0:27Speaker 2: that most of my listening audience are Christian. It's really
- 0:30Speaker 2: important that you understand the the spiritual background to anti-Semitism
- 0:37Speaker 2: so that you know what to do.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Let's take a break and hear a message from one
- 0:42Speaker 3: of our sponsors. Welcome to the Israel Answers series, connecting Israel,

- 1:06Speaker 3: your faith and bring the Bible to life in your
- 1:08Speaker 3: everyday world. Now, let's join Susan with your Israel answers.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So let's review, first of all, the problem in case
- 1:19Speaker 2: you haven't been listening the last few weeks. Antisemitism is
- 1:23Speaker 2: just absolutely exploding around the world since the October 7,
- 1:28Speaker 2: 2023 attack on Israel. And a new survey released by
- 1:35Speaker 2: Combat Antisemitism Movement found that 57% of Jewish Americans have
- 1:43Speaker 2: experienced antisemitism in the last year. So that's the equivalent
- 1:48Speaker 2: of like 3.3 million adults and maybe 250,000 children have
- 1:54Speaker 2: experienced antisemitism. Here in the United States... That's just unacceptable.
- 2:01Speaker 2: It's astounding. And this is why it's so important that
- 2:04Speaker 2: we understand the problem. Anti-Semitism is no longer just out
- 2:09Speaker 2: in the fringes, whether it's the far right or the
- 2:12Speaker 2: far left. It's now moving into the mainstream. And that's
- 2:16Speaker 2: where you and I live. And that's why we need
- 2:19Speaker 2: to understand it and guard against it. Recent elections in
- 2:23Speaker 2: New York and in Michigan proved that it's moving into
- 2:28Speaker 2: the mainstream. It's now a part of political discourse and campaigns.
- 2:34Speaker 2: On the right, we have significant voices claiming to be
- 2:40Speaker 2: Christian and yet espousing anti-Semitism. So how is all this happening?
- 2:46Speaker 2: Because we have foreign funding and we have the invasive
- 2:53Speaker 2: influence of social media. We talked all about this in
- 2:57Speaker 2: the last two weeks. So today I just want to
- 3:01Speaker 2: reiterate how big the problem is that we have here
- 3:06Speaker 2: in the United States, even in K-12 and in our
- 3:09Speaker 2: education system, we have anti-Semitism so bad that our teachers'
- 3:15Speaker 2: unions are espousing it. So coming up in the ranks
- 3:20Speaker 2: here in America is a new generation who have been
- 3:25Speaker 2: schooled in socialism, Marxism, Islamist, jihadist ideology, and anti-Israel thought.
- 3:34Speaker 2: So they're skeptical of Christianity. They're skeptical of America, of Israel,
- 3:39Speaker 2: of Western civilization even. Some of them are even being
- 3:43Speaker 2: primed to want revolution. So I may be looking at
- 3:48Speaker 2: a glass half empty, and you prefer to look at
- 3:51Speaker 2: it as half full. It's not all that bad. But
- 3:54Speaker 2: I must sound the alarm. that we have a big problem.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And this is why I want to make sure that
- 4:00Speaker 2: as Christians, we understand it. Because, you know, the people
- 4:04Speaker 2: that committed the worst crime in human history, which was
- 4:09Speaker 2: the Holocaust of 6 million women, men, children, babies, elderly Jews,
- 4:15Speaker 2: the people that perpetrated that, they were not monsters or
- 4:18Speaker 2: from another planet. They were often highly educated, cultured people,
- 4:25Speaker 2: But they had been brainwashed to think that what they
- 4:28Speaker 2: were doing was right. So if they live today, they
- 4:33Speaker 2: would probably tell you how that they're doing this in
- 4:36Speaker 2: the name of helping the Palestinian people or that they're
- 4:39Speaker 2: stopping genocide or some other trumped up charge. You know,
- 4:43Speaker 2: Nazi soldiers had their minds poisoned by anti-Semitism and they
- 4:48Speaker 2: chose to commit the most heinous of crimes in human history.
- 4:54Speaker 2: in the name of a greater good. So don't think
- 4:57Speaker 2: that it cannot happen again.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It can.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And unless we do something to stop current trends, I'm
- 5:06Speaker 2: really afraid that it will happen. So first, let's start
- 5:11Speaker 2: with what is anti-Semitism? It is bigotry towards Jews. It's
- 5:18Speaker 2: hatred of Jewish people. Then there's something called Christian anti-Semitism.
- 5:24Speaker 2: And that's when a professing Christian uses the Christian scriptures
- 5:29Speaker 2: to denigrate Jewish people and support anti-Semitic tropes and conspiracy theories.
- 5:36Speaker 2: So I just want to lay those definitions out there.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And now, you know, I want to talk about the
- 5:42Speaker 2: nature of anti-Semitism. So there's a reason why the historian
- 5:48Speaker 2: Robert Wistrick calls anti-Semitism the longest hatred because this evil
- 5:55Speaker 2: pursuit of the Jewish people has continued for millennia, and
- 6:00Speaker 2: every time it seems to be dying out, it reinvents
- 6:04Speaker 2: itself with a different look, a different name, for a
- 6:08Speaker 2: different generation. But we recognize it by its goal, which
- 6:13Speaker 2: is always at the end of the day, to rid
- 6:16Speaker 2: the world of the Jewish people. Now, no time, sorry,
- 6:22Speaker 2: we don't have time today to review the whole history
- 6:25Speaker 2: of anti-Semitism so I can demonstrate to you how that
- 6:29Speaker 2: in different times in history, it came out like a virus.
- 6:34Speaker 2: It mutated and took a different look. That's why we
- 6:38Speaker 2: have for you today a free download on anti-Semitism. We're
- 6:42Speaker 2: going to link to it in the show notes below,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and I'll talk about it again at the end of
- 6:46Speaker 2: today's broadcast. That little downloadable, it's very easy to read.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It's quick.
- 6:52Speaker 2: But it will give you an overview of the history
- 6:55Speaker 2: and the different types of anti-Semitism that we've seen throughout history.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So all that just to say that today, the main
- 7:04Speaker 2: face of anti-Semitism is political anti-Semitism. It's anti-Zionism. It's against
- 7:13Speaker 2: the Jewish state of Israel. And since a Jewish state...
- 7:18Speaker 2: runs antithetical to the ruling philosophies of today. What are
- 7:23Speaker 2: the ruling philosophies? Secularism and globalism. And so Israel is
- 7:30Speaker 2: a Jewish state, it's a religious state, and it's a state,
- 7:34Speaker 2: it's a nation. So it runs against the grain of
- 7:40Speaker 2: globalism and secularism. And that's one reason that being anti-Israel
- 7:45Speaker 2: is actually good gaining wide acceptance today because our young
- 7:49Speaker 2: people are being schooled on the importance of secularism and
- 7:54Speaker 2: globalism along with other things. And Israel's made to look like,
- 8:00Speaker 2: you know, the bad guy. So now, not all criticism
- 8:05Speaker 2: of Israel is anti-Semitic. However, criticism of Israel crosses over
- 8:12Speaker 2: and becomes anti-Semitic.
- 8:14Speaker 1: When it first.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Delegitimizes the state, it questions its right to exist, and
- 8:21Speaker 2: when it uses anti-Jewish rhetoric and stereotypes, and when it
- 8:27Speaker 2: judges Israel by a different standard than for other countries,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and lastly, when it becomes an excuse to attack local
- 8:37Speaker 2: Jewish individuals and institutions, that's when you know that it's
- 8:41Speaker 2: not just criticism of a policy, It's actually anti-Semitism questioning
- 8:47Speaker 2: the right of Israel to exist and accusing it of
- 8:50Speaker 2: the most horrendous violations of human rights. So one cannot
- 8:56Speaker 2: demonize a nation, though, without it being a demonization of
- 9:01Speaker 2: the people. And that's why, even though it's anti-Israel, it
- 9:06Speaker 2: ends up being against the Jewish individual as well, because
- 9:10Speaker 2: the people of Israel are a subset of the global
- 9:14Speaker 2: Jewish people. And so demonizing the state of Israel is
- 9:18Speaker 2: demonizing the people that it's made up of. Also, anti-Zionism
- 9:26Speaker 2: is just legitimizing other forms of anti-Semitism. So it's not
- 9:30Speaker 2: the only form out there today.
- 9:32Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 9:33Speaker 2: There's all kinds of forms of anti-Semitism. But anti-Zionism is
- 9:39Speaker 2: unleashing them. It's giving them the right to come out
- 9:42Speaker 2: of the woodwork, to come out of hiding, and to
- 9:45Speaker 2: rear their ugly head. So today, you know, during the Nazis,
- 9:51Speaker 2: the Heil Hitler was almost a way of just saying,
- 9:55Speaker 2: we support his policies and death to the Jews, but
- 9:59Speaker 2: they would just say Heil. Heil Hitler. Today, what's the slogan?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Palestine will be free from the river to the sea. Well,
- 10:07Speaker 2: what's that? That's genocide of the people of Israel. That's
- 10:12Speaker 2: what that slogan is calling for. But it sounds so
- 10:15Speaker 2: much more acceptable when it's about Palestine will be freed Yes,
- 10:19Speaker 2: we want freedom for everybody, right? That's not what they mean.
- 10:23Speaker 2: They mean that Palestine will be free of the Jews.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So now after October the 7th, 2023, there's just been
- 10:31Speaker 2: an explosion of anti-Semitism.
- 10:34Speaker 1: All around the world.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And even our Christian young people are being bombarded with
- 10:39Speaker 2: it constantly on social media and sometimes on their college campuses.
- 10:45Speaker 2: And so it's feeding a growing movement of within Christian
- 10:50Speaker 2: circles of being anti-Israel.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Let's take a break and hear a message from one
- 10:56Speaker 3: of our sponsors. Welcome back to the Out of Zion
- 11:04Speaker 3: podcast with Susan Michael.
- 11:06Speaker 1: So this is now, that's my introduction.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Now I want to talk to you about the biblical
- 11:12Speaker 2: explanation for this. Anti-Semitism is not just.
- 11:18Speaker 1: A social thing. problem or a a.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Ancient hatred that acts like a virus it is spiritual
- 11:27Speaker 2: and this is what we have to understand it is
- 11:30Speaker 2: an evil spiritual force that's why it's able to mutate
- 11:36Speaker 2: that's why it's able to resist and exist and go
- 11:40Speaker 2: in hiding and come out because this is evil and
- 11:44Speaker 2: in psalm 83 to from the Old Testament, Psalm 83.
- 11:50Speaker 2: It talks about this war against God himself.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Just to paraphrase the first few verses, it says.
- 11:57Speaker 2: O God, those who hate you have declared, let us
- 12:03Speaker 2: cut them off as a nation, that the name of
- 12:07Speaker 2: Israel will be remembered no more. Now, doesn't that sound familiar?
- 12:12Speaker 2: I mean, those words were written, what, 3,000 years ago?
- 12:18Speaker 2: And yet the enemies of God are saying still today,
- 12:24Speaker 2: let's cut Israel off as a nation that her name
- 12:28Speaker 2: will be remembered no more and Palestine will be free
- 12:32Speaker 2: from the river to the sea. Wow. Another verse, now
- 12:39Speaker 2: I want to talk about a scripture out of the
- 12:41Speaker 2: New Testament, the book of Revelations. I know Revelation is
- 12:45Speaker 2: quite difficult to understand. It uses a lot of imagery
- 12:49Speaker 2: and allegory, and you don't know what was from the past,
- 12:54Speaker 2: what's from the future, what's from now, and there's all
- 12:56Speaker 2: kinds of different interpretations. But I want to tell you,
- 13:01Speaker 2: if you will sit down and read through Revelation 12 tonight,
- 13:06Speaker 2: I really recommend you do it because you will realize
- 13:10Speaker 2: the imagery here is a reflection of history and of
- 13:14Speaker 2: what's happening today.
- 13:16Speaker 1: It is astounding.
- 13:18Speaker 2: So the vision that John has here is of a
- 13:22Speaker 2: pregnant woman, and she's adorned by the sun and the
- 13:27Speaker 2: moon and the 12 stars. Well, the 12 stars, of course,
- 13:31Speaker 2: depict the 12 tribes of Israel. So this woman, the
- 13:35Speaker 2: pregnant woman who is to give birth to the male
- 13:38Speaker 2: child who is destined to rule the world, Obviously, the
- 13:42Speaker 2: pregnant woman is Israel. She is going to give birth
- 13:47Speaker 2: to the male child. And it says, sitting at her
- 13:50Speaker 2: feet is an evil dragon. And he is there to
- 13:55Speaker 2: devour the male child. But what happens is, it says
- 13:58Speaker 2: that the male child is whisked up to heaven. And
- 14:02Speaker 2: then the woman is protected.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And there's this.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Great war going and the dragon is cast down to earth,
- 14:10Speaker 2: and it says he goes after the woman, and he
- 14:14Speaker 2: is so enraged with her. And it says a flood
- 14:19Speaker 2: comes out of his mouth to get the woman, but
- 14:24Speaker 2: he can't.
- 14:25Speaker 1: She's protected.
- 14:26Speaker 2: The earth like swallows up the flood. Now let's talk
- 14:29Speaker 2: about this for a minute. What comes out of a mouth?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Words. Words.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And here this dragon out of his mouth is a
- 14:39Speaker 2: flood coming after this woman. And it says he had
- 14:43Speaker 2: so enraged with her.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Why? Because of her connection to the male child.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Right?
- 14:50Speaker 2: And her connection isn't over. Yes, she gave birth to
- 14:54Speaker 2: the male child. But we know that the Hebrew prophets
- 14:57Speaker 2: all foretell of the day when that Messiah, that male child,
- 15:02Speaker 2: comes to earth and rules and reigns. And that's the
- 15:05Speaker 2: day the evil in the world is over. And that's
- 15:09Speaker 2: why this dragon is so opposed to this. And it
- 15:14Speaker 2: says if he can't get to her, so what does
- 15:17Speaker 2: he do? He goes after her other offspring, those with
- 15:24Speaker 2: the testimony of Jesus. You see, Israel also gave birth
- 15:30Speaker 2: to the church. And we are also associated with that
- 15:36Speaker 2: male child. And so the same evil spirit that is
- 15:41Speaker 2: persecuting and going after the Jewish people, seeking to annihilate them,
- 15:46Speaker 2: is the same spirit persecuting the church around the world.
- 15:51Speaker 2: We are in this together. And I want to point
- 15:55Speaker 2: out something very, very interesting in the middle of this
- 15:58Speaker 2: description of this happening. It calls the evil dragon the
- 16:04Speaker 2: accuser of the brethren. Now, isn't that what anti-Semitism is
- 16:11Speaker 2: all about? False accusations against the woman. False accusations, lies, propaganda, slogans, accusations, accusations, accusations.
- 16:27Speaker 2: That's what this evil dragon does.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Is so good at. Interesting, isn't it?
- 16:35Speaker 2: To me, that is the greatest description and imagery of
- 16:42Speaker 2: the power and the nature of anti-Semitism. Now, a few
- 16:49Speaker 2: chapters later in Revelation 16, there's another very interesting vision
- 16:55Speaker 2: that John has. And there are actually frogs that come
- 16:59Speaker 2: out of the mouth of the dragon the mouth of
- 17:01Speaker 2: the beast, and the mouth of the false prophet. Now
- 17:04Speaker 2: once again, what comes out of mouths but words? And
- 17:09Speaker 2: it says that these frogs go out in order to
- 17:14Speaker 2: lead the nations to the great battle of the end times.
- 17:19Speaker 2: So these frogs have gone out to repeat these accusations
- 17:24Speaker 2: and these slogans. And their goal is is to get
- 17:28Speaker 2: the nations to turn against Israel. Another great picture of
- 17:35Speaker 2: what's going on. And, you know, I always think of frogs.
- 17:38Speaker 2: What do you think of when you think of a frog?
- 17:40Speaker 2: I think of just their.
- 17:44Speaker 2: You know, it sounds like they're just croaking all night long,
- 17:48Speaker 2: the same thing over and over. And I just picture
- 17:51Speaker 2: this evil... spirit it says that they are spirits of
- 17:55Speaker 2: demons is what revelation 16 calls him has gone out
- 18:00Speaker 2: around the world repeating these accusations and slogans and anti-semitic
- 18:05Speaker 2: tropes against the people of israel and against any of
- 18:08Speaker 2: us that stand with them or support them so that
- 18:14Speaker 2: is the best biblical explanation of what we have happening
- 18:18Speaker 2: in our day And I just want to bring this
- 18:21Speaker 2: to a close with a word of warning. Because the
- 18:23Speaker 2: prophet Isaiah talked about a day when the world would
- 18:28Speaker 2: no longer be based on truth and fact. Instead, in
- 18:35Speaker 2: Isaiah 5.20, he warns, he says, Woe to those who
- 18:41Speaker 2: call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for
- 18:45Speaker 2: light and light for darkness. who put bitter for sweet,
- 18:51Speaker 2: and sweet for bitter. So I just want to warn you,
- 18:55Speaker 2: I hope students are listening to me, young people, don't
- 19:00Speaker 2: repeat these lies and slogans that you're hearing. Inform yourself,
- 19:06Speaker 2: because this evil dragon is not just a threat to
- 19:10Speaker 2: the Jewish people, but to all of us. He wants
- 19:13Speaker 2: to deceive the whole world. Revelation 12 says he wants
- 19:17Speaker 2: to deceive the whole world, and he wants to turn
- 19:21Speaker 2: that world against Israel. So don't fall for his lies.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Don't let him use you in this scheme. And stand
- 19:29Speaker 2: against the wiles of the enemy. First in prayer, I
- 19:33Speaker 2: want to invite you to participate in the International Christian
- 19:36Speaker 2: Embassy Jerusalem. We have a daily prayer meeting by Zoom
- 19:40Speaker 2: every morning, U.S.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Time. It's led by our Jerusalem headquarters.
- 19:46Speaker 2: We also have an ongoing prayer watch and the u.s
- 19:50Speaker 2: branch takes three or four hours every week as a
- 19:53Speaker 2: part of that watch so if you want to get
- 19:55Speaker 2: information on our prayer activities so you can be a
- 19:58Speaker 2: part of actually praying with others and being part of
- 20:02Speaker 2: an army and not be there just by yourself we'll
- 20:06Speaker 2: try to put a You can just go to our website, icejusa.org,
- 20:14Speaker 2: and look under events and for our prayer events. But secondly,
- 20:19Speaker 2: beyond prayer, I really encourage you to inform yourself. So
- 20:24Speaker 2: we have a free download for you on anti-Semitism. I
- 20:28Speaker 2: urge you to get it. Pass it out to your friends,
- 20:31Speaker 2: to your friends in your Bible study, at your church,
- 20:35Speaker 2: on your campus. sign up for our emails, get our books.
- 20:39Speaker 2: We have so many resources. We really have more resources
- 20:43Speaker 2: than any Christian organization working in support of Israel and
- 20:47Speaker 2: with the Jewish people. So I encourage you, inform yourself.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Do not be caught up by this evil scheme. So
- 20:56Speaker 2: now next week I'm going to be talking about what
- 20:59Speaker 2: is actually making some Christians vulnerable to antisemitism.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Very important.
- 21:06Speaker 2: So I invite you back here next week. And until then,
- 21:11Speaker 2: God bless.
