- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Deren. All right, well here on
- 0:07Speaker 1: one leg up on news. I know I've been posting
- 0:09Speaker 1: a lot today, but there's a lot coming down the pike.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And yes, you probably heard about the updates on the
- 0:15Speaker 1: shooting of Brian Thompson, the United Healthcare CEO. Well it
- 0:20Speaker 1: looks like CEOs might be getting bodyguards. That's the first
- 0:23Speaker 1: big deal coming out of all this. Secondly, if it
- 0:26Speaker 1: truly is a claim that was denied by United Healthcare,
- 0:32Speaker 1: this shooter should have just let one thing happen, the
- 0:35Speaker 1: Justice Department do its job and continue the probe against
- 0:41Speaker 1: Brian Thompson and let what was maybe coming to the
- 0:44Speaker 1: guy instead of killing them. That's how you let justice work,
- 0:48Speaker 1: not take it into your own hands. And you know
- 0:52Speaker 1: he's an idiot for showing his face and whatever else
- 0:55Speaker 1: elsewhere when he logged into the hotel there in Amstream Avenue.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So that's the latest on that. But I've got even
- 1:02Speaker 1: more disturbing story tonight because the New York Times, the
- 1:08Speaker 1: old Gray Lady is writing this from a few days ago.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Mexican cartels lower chemistry students to make fentanyl. First of all,
- 1:21Speaker 1: for a sort of liberal paper to mention even the
- 1:26Speaker 1: cartels and the bad things about them. You know, they
- 1:30Speaker 1: seem to want to not not highlight that as much.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Is fascinating, So kudos to Natalie Kittroff and Paulina the
- 1:38Speaker 1: liegis reporting from the Mexican state of Sonola, a stronghold
- 1:45Speaker 1: of the Sonola cartel and a hubbofentanyl production. So cartels
- 1:50Speaker 1: are slipping onto campuses in Mexico disguised as janitors and
- 1:58Speaker 1: louring sophomore chemistry students and explaining that cartel was staffing
- 2:03Speaker 1: up for a project and that he'd heard good things
- 2:06Speaker 1: about the young man. In their quest to build ventanyl empires,
- 2:11Speaker 1: Mexican criminal groups are turning to, as they write, not
- 2:16Speaker 1: hit men or corrupt police officers, but chemistry students across
- 2:22Speaker 1: Mexican universities. Now, maybe that's not as sexy as if
- 2:26Speaker 1: they were actually luring into American universities, but it's still
- 2:32Speaker 1: worth reporting that these cartels are actively recruiting, and I
- 2:37Speaker 1: believe if they're recruiting in Mexican universities alone, maybe just
- 2:44Speaker 1: maybe they're going to try and do it here in
- 2:46Speaker 1: American university. So the border security is important that we
- 2:52Speaker 1: don't let it happen on our campuses. If it can
- 2:55Speaker 1: happen in Mexico, I am a thousand percent convinced it
- 2:59Speaker 1: could happen in our universities. And luring through all these
- 3:04Speaker 1: channels of WhatsApp and Instagram and Facebook. I mean, they're
- 3:09Speaker 1: not dumb, these cartels. So I applaud the Times for
- 3:15Speaker 1: making awareness of this that they're in the universities now
- 3:19Speaker 1: luring kids to make fentanyl, and then and then this
- 3:28Speaker 1: helps them, according to the story, synthesize the chemical compounds
- 3:36Speaker 1: known as precursors essential to making the fentanyl, free them
- 3:40Speaker 1: from having to import those raw materials from China. If
- 3:44Speaker 1: they succeed, US officials say, it would represent a terrifying
- 3:48Speaker 1: new phase in the fentanyl crisis, in which Mexican cartels
- 3:53Speaker 1: have more control than ever over one of the deadliest
- 3:56Speaker 1: drugs in recent history. So yes, it doesn't packed America
- 4:01Speaker 1: that they're actually training kids and luring them to do this,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and it's important we highlight it here on one leg
- 4:08Speaker 1: up on News because as awful as that shooting was
- 4:11Speaker 1: in Manhattan yesterday, this fentanyl crisis is not going away.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's just not. And now they're having kids involved. One
- 4:25Speaker 1: chemistry student that it would be that make us the
- 4:28Speaker 1: kings of Mexico. The kid's been cooking fentanyl. The student
- 4:32Speaker 1: has for six months. Amazing the Times even got this coverage.
- 4:38Speaker 1: They've interviewed seven fentanyl cooks, three chemistry students and two
- 4:42Speaker 1: hiring operatives, and a high level recruiter who worked for
- 4:46Speaker 1: the Sonola cartel, which the US government says is largely
- 4:50Speaker 1: responsible for the de fentanyl pouring over the border. If
- 4:54Speaker 1: the US knows this is going on and they have intelligence,
- 4:58Speaker 1: is it possible that President elect Trump will put an
- 5:02Speaker 1: end to even this recruiting. It seems like this is
- 5:06Speaker 1: a very foundational thing going on, building into something larger
- 5:10Speaker 1: that will harm way more people. So I credit the
- 5:16Speaker 1: Times for talking about talking about this disaster that I
- 5:23Speaker 1: think and maybe friends will agree. The Biden administration has allowed, yes, allowed,
- 5:32Speaker 1: Well it's in Mexico. Well, guess what. They're emboldened because
- 5:36Speaker 1: they see how the immigration crisis is faring here, that
- 5:40Speaker 1: we're not handling it well, and so they're just building
- 5:44Speaker 1: up even more. They're emboldened, and with more fentanyl in Mexico,
- 5:53Speaker 1: it's very easy to get that across the border, and
- 5:56Speaker 1: that's something we cannot afford. And here's the craziest part
- 6:04Speaker 1: of all those affilly with the cartel. They write have
- 6:08Speaker 1: put themselves in danger by talking the Times, and their
- 6:11Speaker 1: accounts of what's going on in these universities match American
- 6:17Speaker 1: embassy officials tracking the cartelectivities. So embassy officials know what's
- 6:25Speaker 1: going on and have not done anything about it. Then
- 6:32Speaker 1: I hope President Trump fires those embassy officials and puts
- 6:36Speaker 1: in new people in Mexico to not only track but stop.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Why can't they just stop this production? And how is
- 6:48Speaker 1: it We're not hearing about this anywhere else. I'm amazed
- 6:53Speaker 1: that a mainstream media outlet is reporting on this because
- 6:57Speaker 1: they don't like to talk about how bad things are
- 7:00Speaker 1: with the border grat because it makes the Biden decision
- 7:02Speaker 1: look bad. But here they are omitting. It's a widespread
- 7:07Speaker 1: effort to continue to make ventanyl and now it's on
- 7:11Speaker 1: college campuses in Mexico. I worry now that those recruiters
- 7:20Speaker 1: could try and hit up American universities and we have
- 7:23Speaker 1: to stop that. And if I find out an American
- 7:27Speaker 1: university right now is in cahoots with the cartels, I
- 7:33Speaker 1: will report on that here on the wollling Up network,
- 7:36Speaker 1: because we have to know. American law enforcement officials have
- 7:41Speaker 1: also noted young chemists have been swept away and arrests
- 7:44Speaker 1: at Mexican ventyl labs in recent years, telling authorities they've
- 7:49Speaker 1: been working on developing precursors and making the drugs stronger.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So what we're dealing with as an emboldened Mexican cartels
- 7:58Speaker 1: a group, it goes beyond just the smuggling of illegals
- 8:06Speaker 1: across the border and the child unaccompanied miners, I mean
- 8:11Speaker 1: two year olds are being reported at the border too.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's pretty bad. Then you compound it with this and
- 8:19Speaker 1: only tracking them instead of truly stopping this. Arrests have
- 8:26Speaker 1: been made in recent years, but it seems like the
- 8:28Speaker 1: cartel's ahead of its time and ahead of American authorities,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and that can't be under President Trump. So if you're
- 8:38Speaker 1: listening right now to President Trump, please follow up on
- 8:42Speaker 1: this track. This Mexican cartels are luring students to do
- 8:50Speaker 1: the dirty work, and apparently it's just commonplace. But we
- 8:56Speaker 1: should keep an eye on that, and I know I will.
- 8:58Speaker 1: On the one look up on news. Yes, a CEO
- 9:01Speaker 1: is shot dead and there are questions to be answered
- 9:04Speaker 1: with that, but let's not lose sight of the other
- 9:09Speaker 1: long term evils going on, like what's going on in
- 9:13Speaker 1: Mexico with still a wide open border could lead to disaster.
- 9:20Speaker 1: If President Trump, who will step in, wasn't elected, I
- 9:26Speaker 1: think it would even be worse. So maybe, just maybe
- 9:30Speaker 1: God knows what he's doing. By once again having a
- 9:34Speaker 1: role in the twenty twenty four election, he might have
- 9:37Speaker 1: just saved us from an even stronger Mexico and that's
- 9:41Speaker 1: a good thing for everybody. I'm Alex Garrett with the
