Latest / Solomonster Sounds Off / AEW Dynamite 5/6/26 Review | Sting Pays TRIBUTE To Ted Turner And Darby Wants MJF's HAIR?!
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Well is going on, guys. It is a Wednesday night,
- 0:03Speaker 1: May sixth, twenty twenty six. I am the solemn monster.
- 0:07Speaker 1: This is your AW Dynamite review. I wish I could
- 0:11Speaker 1: be more excited about Dynamite tonight, but not a very
- 0:13Speaker 1: exciting show. Tonight's show is really all about two things.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It was about paying tribute to, without any hyperbole, one
- 0:23Speaker 1: of the single greatest influential figures in the history of
- 0:28Speaker 1: pro wrestling, who passed away earlier today at the age
- 0:31Speaker 1: of eighty seven, That is Ted Turner. And the other
- 0:35Speaker 1: thing was the main event, which was Darby Allen once
- 0:38Speaker 1: again putting the AW World Championship on the line, this
- 0:41Speaker 1: time against the TNT champion, Kevin Knight. I thought they
- 0:45Speaker 1: had a hell of a main event. I wish I
- 0:48Speaker 1: could say to save him for the rest of the show,
- 0:50Speaker 1: but I really can. The rest of the show for
- 0:52Speaker 1: me anyway, largely a bore. There was a whole lot
- 0:55Speaker 1: of nothing going on tonight. I know they were setting
- 0:58Speaker 1: things up for some additional matches for double or nothing,
- 1:02Speaker 1: but just what they did was very boring. It was
- 1:05Speaker 1: very dry. There just wasn't a whole lot of exciting
- 1:07Speaker 1: stuff going on. Tonight. Again, I wish I could tell
- 1:12Speaker 1: you otherwise, but this was not a great episode of Dynamite.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But we did have Darby once again putting the title
- 1:17Speaker 1: on the line, and already he has another championship match
- 1:21Speaker 1: set up for next week. As I told you a
- 1:23Speaker 1: few weeks ago, this is going to be a weekly
- 1:25Speaker 1: occurrence until we get to double or Nothing when he
- 1:27Speaker 1: drops the belt back to MJF, who he has been
- 1:31Speaker 1: saying every week, you are not getting a rematch. Every
- 1:35Speaker 1: time MJF comes out and asks him for a rematch,
- 1:38Speaker 1: he says no, he denies him until tonight Darby finally
- 1:44Speaker 1: told us what he wants from MJF if MJF is
- 1:47Speaker 1: to get his rematch at double or Nothing. In fact,
- 1:50Speaker 1: we'll have a contract signing on Dynamite next week. What
- 1:55Speaker 1: it is that MJF will have to put on the line.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Is it his career? Is it his ability to ever
- 2:01Speaker 1: again challenge for the World Championship? Is it the Dynamite
- 2:04Speaker 1: Diamond Ring. I'll let you know. We'll talk about that
- 2:09Speaker 1: at the end. It actually happened on Collision because tonight
- 2:11Speaker 1: is a three hour block. Collision is still on. By
- 2:14Speaker 1: the way, Collision is in progress right now. I saw
- 2:18Speaker 1: all the important stuff I needed to see in the
- 2:20Speaker 1: first five minutes of Collision, and I said, that's good
- 2:24Speaker 1: enough for me. Let's talk some dynamite. It is May sixth.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Thank you for joining me here on a Wednesday night.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Darby doesn't decide who gets title shots, says blizz Fan. Well,
- 2:35Speaker 1: evidently he does. He's the champion. He's been saying it
- 2:39Speaker 1: for weeks. What do you mean he has though, no power.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Apparently Tony Khan has bestowed the power upon him. This
- 2:45Speaker 1: is like the third or fourth title match that he's made.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I don't know who has the power anymore. We have EVPs,
- 2:53Speaker 1: do they have power? We have Darby Allen making his
- 2:57Speaker 1: own championship matches. Tony Khan I thought, was the ball,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and we know he makes matches. There's multiple people apparently
- 3:04Speaker 1: who have power in this company. The way the power
- 3:06Speaker 1: is dispersed is a little confusing. Anyway, like and subscribe.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Superchats are open. I don't think we have a whole
- 3:15Speaker 1: lot of them so far. I set a superchat goal.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I said, you know what, maybe tonight can be some
- 3:21Speaker 1: phone calls. We haven't done phone calls in a while,
- 3:24Speaker 1: so I set a little bonus superchat goal. We'll see
- 3:27Speaker 1: if we hit that goal. Maybe we'll take some phone
- 3:29Speaker 1: calls a little bit. I have everything set up. If
- 3:32Speaker 1: we hit it, we'll do it. If not, then we won't.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But superchats are open, so get them on in. I
- 3:37Speaker 1: will be reading all of your messages, and of course
- 3:39Speaker 1: I appreciate all of the support. Let us go ahead, though,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and throw up the wheel and find out what the
- 3:45Speaker 1: goal is tonight for be the booker, which is always
- 3:49Speaker 1: a tough mountain to climb here on a Wednesday, just
- 3:52Speaker 1: the way it is with the aw streams. But let's see, Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 1: that's not happening. Five hundred and thirty likes. That is
- 4:06Speaker 1: the goal. Hey Uffman, he says, he Man has the power.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to seeing he Man about a month away, right,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I think June fifth. I believe Masters of the Universe.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I actually have my tickets book to see Mortal Kombat too.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm seeing it on Friday during the day so I
- 4:28Speaker 1: could still be here for SmackDown. I watched Mortal Kombat
- 4:32Speaker 1: on the flight into Los Angeles for the House of
- 4:35Speaker 1: Glory show, the Mortal Kombat from five years ago, just
- 4:38Speaker 1: so I can get acquainted with the characters that are
- 4:40Speaker 1: going to be in this new movie. So I'm all
- 4:42Speaker 1: ready to go MK two, and then the next month
- 4:47Speaker 1: we have Masters of the Universe, and then later this year,
- 4:50Speaker 1: what is it October? I think maybe as a street
- 4:53Speaker 1: Fighter at to see Roman Reigns as a Kuma, Cody
- 4:58Speaker 1: Rhodes as Guile. We have E Honda right, Oh God,
- 5:03Speaker 1: who is it playing? I Honda again from New Japan. Yes,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I will let you know how it is when I
- 5:15Speaker 1: see it on Friday. I will let you know how
- 5:16Speaker 1: the movie is. Anyway, five hundred and thirty is the
- 5:18Speaker 1: likes goal for be the booker tonight. Hiroki Goto, That's
- 5:22Speaker 1: what I That's what I meant to say. Hiroki Goto
- 5:25Speaker 1: is e Honda in the Street Fighter movie. Let's talk
- 5:30Speaker 1: about Dynamite and the beginning of the show here tonight,
- 5:33Speaker 1: because we had Tony Shavanni standing in the middle of
- 5:36Speaker 1: the ring for what I was hoping, and I kind
- 5:38Speaker 1: of imagine they were going to open the show with
- 5:40Speaker 1: tonight and Shavanni is the perfect person to do this
- 5:43Speaker 1: given his connections to WCW and Turner Broadcasting and all
- 5:48Speaker 1: the wrestling shows that aired on Turner many years ago.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So he was standing in the ring to pay tribute
- 5:54Speaker 1: to Ted Turner, who, as I mentioned at the beginning
- 5:56Speaker 1: of the stream, passed away this morning at the age
- 5:59Speaker 1: of eighty. He had been diagnosed with Louis body dementia.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I want to say it was about eight years ago
- 6:07Speaker 1: is when he announced the diagnosis. Any type of dementia
- 6:12Speaker 1: is just a horrible, insidious disease, Louis Body dementia in particular.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I mean, that's what Robin Williams had. But he passed
- 6:23Speaker 1: away this morning, and I'm going to go into greater
- 6:25Speaker 1: depth on him and his impact on wrestling and some
- 6:28Speaker 1: other historical stuff on the sound uff this weekend, as
- 6:31Speaker 1: you would imagine, because this is a big deal, even
- 6:34Speaker 1: though he had been out of the public spotlight for
- 6:35Speaker 1: many years. But Shavanni is in the ring and he
- 6:39Speaker 1: said that Ted Turner believed in pro wrestling, He believed
- 6:43Speaker 1: in the fans, He believed that pro wrestling belonged on
- 6:46Speaker 1: national television, and because of his vision, wrestling found a
- 6:49Speaker 1: home on TBS and TNT. And he brought up starting
- 6:54Speaker 1: him starting in the studio back in nineteen eighty five,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and decades later because of Ted Turner's leadership, and now
- 7:03Speaker 1: because of Tony Kahan and Warner Brothers, Discovery Wrestling lives
- 7:07Speaker 1: on here on TBS and TNT. So he said, there's
- 7:11Speaker 1: one man who knows this better than anybody, a man
- 7:13Speaker 1: who arrived in the studios of TBS back in nineteen
- 7:16Speaker 1: eighty seven and became one of the faces of the network.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And at that point he introduced us to Sting. And
- 7:25Speaker 1: so Sting comes out, no music, full face paint though,
- 7:29Speaker 1: and the white beard. He's got the bomber jacket on,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and Grandpa Sting makes his way down to the ring
- 7:38Speaker 1: and he gives Schavani a hug, and he said that
- 7:41Speaker 1: imagine having a billionaire who was all in on pro wrestling.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Big Ted Sting. Can't believe how committed and devoted Turner was,
- 7:51Speaker 1: even when Top Brass and his own company didn't like wrestling,
- 7:55Speaker 1: and they would go to him and say, yeah, maybe
- 7:56Speaker 1: you should cut ties with this wrestling stuff, and he said,
- 8:00Speaker 1: this is a shoot. He goes. Turner would talk to
- 8:03Speaker 1: the wrestlers. He would talk to the boys, and he
- 8:05Speaker 1: would tell them, you know, keep doing your thing, because
- 8:09Speaker 1: I got deep pockets. So he said, there wouldn't be
- 8:12Speaker 1: a TNT title, there wouldn't be a Sting, there wouldn't
- 8:15Speaker 1: be a Darby Allen or a Tony Shavanni without Ted Turner,
- 8:18Speaker 1: and Shavanni brings up Darby facing the Turner Network Television
- 8:23Speaker 1: Champion tonight in the main event, Kevin Knight Sting said
- 8:27Speaker 1: that he and Darby took a blowtorch to this place
- 8:29Speaker 1: for three years. He called Darby the greatest tag team
- 8:32Speaker 1: partner that he's ever had, and he said it's great
- 8:34Speaker 1: to be back in South Carolina, and he's grateful for
- 8:38Speaker 1: another all in billionaire who wants to keep the ball rolling,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and that is Tony Kah. So Shavanni brings up that
- 8:45Speaker 1: the side plates on the TNT and TBS titles are
- 8:50Speaker 1: intended to honor the Turner pass, the Turner history wrestling
- 8:55Speaker 1: on the Turner Networks. It's like the Turner Mansion or something.
- 8:59Speaker 1: He said, Tony Kahn wanted that to be on those belts.
- 9:03Speaker 1: So tonight they bring us three hours of Dynamite and
- 9:07Speaker 1: Collision in tribute to the Maverick, not Logan Paul, not
- 9:14Speaker 1: that Maverick, but in tribute to Ted Turner, and they
- 9:18Speaker 1: did a ten bell salute. This was very classy. Again,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I expected maybe they would say something they have like
- 9:24Speaker 1: a graphic, maybe they would have Shavanni at the announced
- 9:27Speaker 1: desk say something. This was maybe even more than I
- 9:30Speaker 1: expect that. I know Sting was going to be there,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and Sting obviously has a tie into the early years
- 9:36Speaker 1: of WCW, late years of Crockett promotions, so very appropriate
- 9:40Speaker 1: to have him there. It was a classy tribute, you know.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It was a classy tribute to someone who cannot be
- 9:46Speaker 1: overstated how vital a role Ted Turner played in the
- 9:52Speaker 1: wrestling that you and I watched today, in the wrestling
- 9:55Speaker 1: that you and I were watching ten years ago, twenty
- 9:58Speaker 1: years ago, thirty years ago, you can draw a direct
- 10:01Speaker 1: line to Ted Turner. It was those deep pockets that
- 10:04Speaker 1: Sting mentioned, that Turner would boast about, that brought about
- 10:09Speaker 1: the Monday Night War. You know, it was those deep
- 10:11Speaker 1: pockets that allowed Eric Bischoff to go out there and
- 10:14Speaker 1: bring in big names like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage
- 10:17Speaker 1: and many many others, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, which
- 10:20Speaker 1: then led to the nWo and everything that came from that,
- 10:24Speaker 1: And it all goes back to Ted Turner asking Eric Bischoff,
- 10:27Speaker 1: how can we compete with Vince McMahon and then giving
- 10:31Speaker 1: Eric an hour of primetime every Monday night on TNT
- 10:35Speaker 1: with the advent of Monday Nitro. Yeah, Bischof tells the
- 10:38Speaker 1: story about you know, he gave him two hours. He
- 10:40Speaker 1: didn't give him two hours, he gave him an hour.
- 10:43Speaker 1: The story has evolved over the years. Nitro actually didn't
- 10:46Speaker 1: go two hours until Memorial Day in nineteen ninety six.
- 10:50Speaker 1: First night Scott Hall showed up by Nitro. That was
- 10:52Speaker 1: the very first two hour Nitro. But he got primetime
- 10:54Speaker 1: television to go head to head with Vince McMahon, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: nobody had ever taken it to Vince before. And Vince
- 11:01Speaker 1: used to tell the story of Turner calling him up
- 11:03Speaker 1: on the phone one day and telling him, Hey, hey, Vince,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm getting in the wrastling business, right, because that was
- 11:09Speaker 1: a dirty word to Vince McMahon. Wrestling, right, That's that
- 11:14Speaker 1: old Southern shit. It was a dirty word to Vince.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Even in later years, there was literally a list of
- 11:22Speaker 1: words ban words you couldn't say on TV, and wrestling
- 11:25Speaker 1: was one of them. Even though wrestling is literally in
- 11:27Speaker 1: the name of the company but Vince never really liked wrestling.
- 11:31Speaker 1: He had his idea of what wrestling should be. But
- 11:35Speaker 1: the thing with Vince is, and this alleged feud or
- 11:40Speaker 1: competition between the two of them, it was never a
- 11:43Speaker 1: competition between Ted Turner and Vince McMahon so much as
- 11:47Speaker 1: it was a competition between Turner and Vince and Vince's
- 11:49Speaker 1: own mind. In his mind, Vince McMahon was at war
- 11:53Speaker 1: with Ted Turner. If Ted Turner spent more than ten
- 11:57Speaker 1: seconds each day thinking about Vince mcma man, I would
- 12:01Speaker 1: be stunned. I really would certain days, sure, right, because again,
- 12:05Speaker 1: he wanted to compete. But I think in Vince McMahon's mind,
- 12:09Speaker 1: he had it in his head that Like Turner was
- 12:11Speaker 1: at war with him and it was his mission to
- 12:14Speaker 1: like dude, he had so many other more important things
- 12:17Speaker 1: going on in his day to day because wrestling is
- 12:20Speaker 1: a very very small piece of Ted Turner's legacy, Right,
- 12:24Speaker 1: we talk wrestling here. We're all wrestling fans as a
- 12:26Speaker 1: wrestling show, so of course we talk about wrestling. But
- 12:31Speaker 1: you know Turner's influence in the media world. You know
- 12:34Speaker 1: the advent of twenty four to seven round the clock
- 12:36Speaker 1: cable news, you can trace that directly back to Ted
- 12:40Speaker 1: Turner in the advent of CNN, and then of course
- 12:43Speaker 1: we can get into all you know TNT and the
- 12:45Speaker 1: superstation TBS and Cartoon Network and all of the different
- 12:50Speaker 1: media properties, and then of course his philanthropy work later on.
- 12:55Speaker 1: He was he was a very unique character, was Ted Turner.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Wrestling again is a very very small piece of his legacy.
- 13:02Speaker 1: But if you're a wrestling fan, the way the shows
- 13:05Speaker 1: are formatted on television, the nitro format from the late nineties,
- 13:10Speaker 1: all of that was made possible because Ted Turner was
- 13:12Speaker 1: a wrestling fan when a lot of people who worked
- 13:14Speaker 1: for him were not. And if it were up to them,
- 13:17Speaker 1: they wouldn't have wrestling on their network because wrestling was
- 13:20Speaker 1: beneath them. Wrestling was low brown knuckle dragger bullshit. Turner's like, no,
- 13:26Speaker 1: We're having wrestling because wrestling was very vital to the
- 13:30Speaker 1: early days of TBS. It's what put that network on
- 13:32Speaker 1: the map. He owed a debt of gratitude to wrestling.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He was a big Ric Flair fan. I think Flair
- 13:39Speaker 1: was part of the package when he bought WCW. I
- 13:42Speaker 1: don't know he would have bought it with that Rick
- 13:44Speaker 1: Flair he was a wrestling fan. So again I'll talk
- 13:49Speaker 1: more about Ted Turner on the Sounduff on Sunday. A
- 13:51Speaker 1: very very interesting individual and very classy tribute here to
- 13:58Speaker 1: him at the beginning of Dynamite. It would be not
- 14:00Speaker 1: if they at least acknowledged him on WWE television. It's
- 14:04Speaker 1: gonna be very interesting because Vince is not in charge anymore.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I think a Vince McMahon was still running the show
- 14:10Speaker 1: day to day in WWE. No way they acknowledged Ted Turner.
- 14:14Speaker 1: He's had to bug up his ass about Turner from
- 14:17Speaker 1: day one. I really don't. I think he's petty enough
- 14:20Speaker 1: that he would not acknowledge him. But he's not there,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and so I do wonder if there'll be some sort
- 14:25Speaker 1: of acknowledgment on television. We'll see. I'm very curious about that.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Nothing like what we saw here, but even like a
- 14:31Speaker 1: graphic or a word of acknowledgment on commentary from like
- 14:36Speaker 1: Michael Cole or Joe Tessitur on Friday or something. I'm
- 14:40Speaker 1: very curious to see if we get anything. But the
- 14:43Speaker 1: opening match of the night had John Moxley against Juice
- 14:49Speaker 1: Robinson in a Continental Championship eliminator match. So after the
- 14:55Speaker 1: ten minute time call, Robinson he backdropped out of a
- 14:59Speaker 1: pile driver into a cradle for a two count. He
- 15:02Speaker 1: went for the left hand of God. Moxley though, hit
- 15:05Speaker 1: him on the or bit him. They hit him. He
- 15:06Speaker 1: bit him on the forehead. Left hand of God, though
- 15:09Speaker 1: did connect. Robinson ended up in a rear naked choke though,
- 15:12Speaker 1: which led to a transition into a pile driver by
- 15:15Speaker 1: Moxley to count only, and Moxley quickly transitioned into a
- 15:21Speaker 1: bulldog choke, and there was a brief struggle and eventually
- 15:25Speaker 1: Robinson faded out and the referee called for the bell.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Juice has not been established as any sort of threat.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I mean, come on now, I mean he has not
- 15:33Speaker 1: been established on any of these shows as any sort
- 15:37Speaker 1: of credible threat, certainly not since he came back from
- 15:40Speaker 1: whatever his latest injury was. So there's just nothing exciting here.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It was a match, you know, it was solid enough
- 15:47Speaker 1: for what it was. But again, this was a pattern tonight.
- 15:52Speaker 1: We had a lot of matches like this, very solid stuff,
- 15:56Speaker 1: very solid stuff. But I want more than just solid, right,
- 16:00Speaker 1: I eat solid food every day. I have solid bowel movements.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I want my wrestling shows to be a little bit
- 16:07Speaker 1: more than just solid, and that's really what Dynama was tonight.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I was more interested to see how they were going
- 16:13Speaker 1: to follow up on that Death Riders Will Osprey backstage
- 16:17Speaker 1: training session from last week to see what the segment
- 16:21Speaker 1: would be this week. Remember last week he showed up
- 16:24Speaker 1: for training camp, so this was after now, mind you,
- 16:29Speaker 1: if you go back to that segment from last week
- 16:32Speaker 1: when Osprey showed up for training camp, remember the first
- 16:35Speaker 1: question that Moxley asked him, were you cleared? And Ospray's like, no,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but I'm going to Japan because I got to support
- 16:45Speaker 1: my friends. And so he flew all the way fifteen
- 16:48Speaker 1: hours to Japan, and in fact he did wrestle, and
- 16:52Speaker 1: he is one third now of the never Open Weight
- 16:56Speaker 1: six man chance is the never open weight six way
- 17:00Speaker 1: titles right? Whatever the fight, They have so many fucking
- 17:02Speaker 1: belts over there. But he is a champion now. So
- 17:06Speaker 1: even though he was not medically cleared by the AAW
- 17:08Speaker 1: training staff, he was well enough to fly to Japan
- 17:11Speaker 1: and after a long flight, actually wrestle. So that was
- 17:16Speaker 1: a little a little strange, I would say, But him
- 17:20Speaker 1: and Hanai and Great o'conn are now the champions. So
- 17:24Speaker 1: we got another training segment from earlier today. Daniel Garcia
- 17:29Speaker 1: said that they don't care about Ospbury winning titles in
- 17:32Speaker 1: Japan with his friends. He's going to have to work
- 17:36Speaker 1: for it if he truly wants it. And we see
- 17:39Speaker 1: Osprey's on the floor. Hees on all fours doing neck
- 17:42Speaker 1: bridges with Wheeler Yudas sitting on his back. Moxley sits
- 17:46Speaker 1: down next to him and he asked Osprey if he's
- 17:48Speaker 1: ever heard of the concept of death ground, and Will
- 17:52Speaker 1: says nope. So Moxley explains that it's ground that you
- 17:56Speaker 1: can't escape from. The only options are do or die.
- 18:00Speaker 1: That's where Ospray is right now. If they don't get
- 18:02Speaker 1: his neck right, if they don't get his head right,
- 18:05Speaker 1: it's all over. He's done. Ospray could have a career
- 18:09Speaker 1: in aw and he can get paid and he can
- 18:12Speaker 1: hang out like the rest of the posers that they
- 18:15Speaker 1: have there. But Ospray is built different. Ospray is on
- 18:19Speaker 1: death ground. Nothing else exists except what's in front of
- 18:23Speaker 1: you right now, Moxley orders him on your back right.
- 18:26Speaker 1: They're going to continue their training and then pack walks
- 18:28Speaker 1: over and he tells the camera man that's it, and
- 18:31Speaker 1: he cuts off the camera. The entire storyline reason that,
- 18:36Speaker 1: if you think about it, that Ospray even has a
- 18:39Speaker 1: bad neck in the first place is because of John Moxley.
- 18:43Speaker 1: John Moxley and the Death Riders are the ones in
- 18:45Speaker 1: storyline who broke this man's neck. And when he came back,
- 18:49Speaker 1: he was full of rage and he was full of angers,
- 18:51Speaker 1: threatening to kill John Boxley. I'm gonna murder this son
- 18:54Speaker 1: of a bitch. And now you know, you watch him
- 18:57Speaker 1: in these segments and you know he loses one match
- 19:00Speaker 1: to him, and he's it's like he's coming to class
- 19:03Speaker 1: like a college kid every week for Professor Max. Now
- 19:09Speaker 1: they're telling an actual story here, and I could see
- 19:11Speaker 1: where it's going. I mean, I keep harping on this.
- 19:14Speaker 1: This should be the final of the Owen and then
- 19:17Speaker 1: Osprey gets that win back over Moxley, and then that
- 19:20Speaker 1: sends him to the main event of Wembley Stadium. Hopefully
- 19:22Speaker 1: that's the way it'll play out, because I think that
- 19:24Speaker 1: would make for, yeah, the the ending of this story
- 19:27Speaker 1: that would make the most sense. But yeah, I mean,
- 19:31Speaker 1: just how just how much Ospray has sort of surrendered
- 19:35Speaker 1: himself to the Death Riders after losing one match. I
- 19:38Speaker 1: don't know, I just it's kind of funny to me.
- 19:42Speaker 1: We had a double Jeopardy match between Dax Harwood and
- 19:46Speaker 1: Orange Cassidy, and the rules were that if Cassidy wins,
- 19:49Speaker 1: the Conglomeration will get a tag team title match against FTR.
- 19:53Speaker 1: If FTR wins, then they and Tomaso Champa would get
- 19:57Speaker 1: a shot at the trios titles. And I honestly don't
- 20:01Speaker 1: even know how anybody could give a shit at this
- 20:02Speaker 1: point about the trio's titles, Like who could possibly care?
- 20:07Speaker 1: Who could possibly care about these belts? So Cassidy had
- 20:12Speaker 1: a ton of backup with him, including Roderick Strong, Kyle O'Reilly,
- 20:16Speaker 1: the Young Bucks, Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Dax had Cash Wheeler,
- 20:21Speaker 1: Stokeley half theway to Masso Champa, RPG Weiss and the
- 20:26Speaker 1: Dogs in his Corner's like a fucking lumberjack match, only
- 20:30Speaker 1: not so. The action spilled out to the floor. Late
- 20:35Speaker 1: in the match, Harwood suplex Cassidy onto the announced desk,
- 20:38Speaker 1: then he sent him back into the ring. Cassidy battled back,
- 20:40Speaker 1: but stokely jumped up on the apron. He caused the distraction.
- 20:43Speaker 1: David Finley took a cheap shot just as OC hit
- 20:47Speaker 1: the ropes, so Hartwood went for the ring bell, referee
- 20:52Speaker 1: caught him, took it away. Cassidy went for an orange punch. Harwood,
- 20:55Speaker 1: though avoided it and hit a slingshot lagerbomb for a
- 20:58Speaker 1: near fall. Cassidy came back with a stun dog and
- 21:01Speaker 1: an orange punch immediately after it covered him for a
- 21:04Speaker 1: near fall only but Dax got an armbar applied after
- 21:09Speaker 1: Cassidy was selling some wrist pain. Cassidy turned it into
- 21:13Speaker 1: a stack pin and he got the flash pin. He
- 21:15Speaker 1: got the shock win here over Dax, and after the
- 21:19Speaker 1: match everybody outside they started brawling. The Babyfaces stood tall.
- 21:24Speaker 1: They left Rocky, Romero and Trend Bretta all alone to die.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Rocky ate a combo from Strong and O'Reilly Bretta ate
- 21:32Speaker 1: some super kicks from the Bucks, spear from Copeland, the
- 21:36Speaker 1: low kick from Christian. The match was fine. It was alright,
- 21:41Speaker 1: Cassidy and a partner getting or I presume Cassidy. They
- 21:44Speaker 1: said the conglomeration, I think we'll get a tag team
- 21:46Speaker 1: title shot. I would imagine that that's a match that's
- 21:50Speaker 1: going to happen before Double or Nothing, because everything is
- 21:55Speaker 1: set for Adam Copeland and Christian Cage to win the
- 21:57Speaker 1: tag team titles a Double or Nothing. I don't really
- 22:00Speaker 1: see Cope and Christian against the Conglomeration. I mean, you
- 22:04Speaker 1: could do it. I would imagine it would be the
- 22:07Speaker 1: Conglomeration against FTR. So if they're going to do that match,
- 22:11Speaker 1: I would presume we get that next week or the
- 22:15Speaker 1: week after, but at some point before Double or Nothing.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Now we see footage of Chris Jericho being attacked backstage
- 22:22Speaker 1: last week by the Demand, except he really wasn't attacked
- 22:24Speaker 1: backstage last week by the Demand because that was taped
- 22:27Speaker 1: the week before. Why because Jericho was actually in New
- 22:30Speaker 1: York City filming some scenes for Dexter Resurrection, Big TV
- 22:34Speaker 1: Star he is, but he was back live this week,
- 22:38Speaker 1: and Renee is backstage with Jericho, who says he's pretty
- 22:40Speaker 1: fear he's pretty ef in furious, and the time for
- 22:44Speaker 1: talking is done. It's time to fight, and unlike the Demand,
- 22:49Speaker 1: he wants to take it to the people. So Jericho
- 22:52Speaker 1: takes the microphone and he makes his way through the
- 22:56Speaker 1: crowd to the ring, saying he's going to keep it simple.
- 23:00Speaker 1: He's done with the three on one attacks, he's done
- 23:04Speaker 1: with all the bullshit. So he demands that Rikochet come
- 23:09Speaker 1: out to talk face to face, because nothing says that
- 23:15Speaker 1: the time for talking is done like inviting your adversary
- 23:19Speaker 1: out to the ring for more talking. Do they read
- 23:24Speaker 1: this shit before they actually, like recited on television, they do?
- 23:28Speaker 1: They listen to it back and does somebody look at
- 23:30Speaker 1: it and go, oh, you know what, that doesn't sound right.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Let's change this up a little bit. The time for
- 23:35Speaker 1: talking is done. Let me go out to the ring
- 23:37Speaker 1: and demand that Ricochet come out and talk. So we're
- 23:40Speaker 1: gonna have a chat. Apparently, Ricochet comes out, Total Leona
- 23:44Speaker 1: comes out, Bishop Kahn right, all three men. Now they
- 23:47Speaker 1: come down to the ring and Ricochet says he tried
- 23:50Speaker 1: to do Jericho a favor by telling him to leave,
- 23:52Speaker 1: but he didn't listen, and he wonders if Jericho has
- 23:55Speaker 1: some kind of humiliation kink, and that, boys and girls,
- 23:58Speaker 1: is what you call projection when you have Ricochet talking
- 24:01Speaker 1: about a humiliation kink in the middle of the ring.
- 24:03Speaker 1: So Ricochet, he heals on the crowd in South Carolina
- 24:06Speaker 1: a little bit. He refers to Charleston, North Carolina, which
- 24:11Speaker 1: I thought maybe he did it on purpose, but it's
- 24:13Speaker 1: entirely possible he just had no fucking idea where he
- 24:16Speaker 1: was and maybe it wasn't by design. But then Jericho
- 24:20Speaker 1: looked at the camera he mouthed the words South Carolina,
- 24:23Speaker 1: just to correct him. So Bishop Kahn whispers something to Ricochet,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and Ricochet goes, hey, you know what, that's a good idea.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I like that idea, and he brings up six years ago,
- 24:37Speaker 1: Jericho invented a type of match. Actually, Jericho invented a
- 24:41Speaker 1: type of match twenty years ago, twenty one years ago
- 24:44Speaker 1: and the money in the bank match. But six years
- 24:48Speaker 1: ago he invented a certain match here in aw So
- 24:51Speaker 1: he's going to beat Jericho in his own creation. He
- 24:53Speaker 1: wants a stadium stampede match, since they're in a stadium
- 24:58Speaker 1: at double or nothing, but he questions if Jericho can
- 25:00Speaker 1: even find four other partners to watch his back. Jericho
- 25:06Speaker 1: calls Rikoshet a dumb son of a bitch and says
- 25:08Speaker 1: it's South Carolina and he'll find four partners. But if
- 25:13Speaker 1: he can't find any partners, he'll take them all on
- 25:15Speaker 1: by himself. And then he called Ricochet bald and he
- 25:19Speaker 1: punched him in the face, and he cleared Goa from
- 25:22Speaker 1: the ring all by himself. He cleared these other men
- 25:25Speaker 1: from the ring all alone, and he blasted Ricochet with
- 25:29Speaker 1: a Judas effect, and Ricochet was laid out. He was
- 25:32Speaker 1: in perfect position. He was going to give him a
- 25:34Speaker 1: lion salt as he went to go do the move.
- 25:38Speaker 1: It was Bishop I think was Bishop khn right, No,
- 25:42Speaker 1: it was Totallyona, Totallyona cut him off with a punch.
- 25:46Speaker 1: And so they're beating up Jericho and here comes the
- 25:49Speaker 1: Hurt Syndicate, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin MVP. They make their
- 25:53Speaker 1: way down to the ring to make the save. And
- 25:55Speaker 1: so there's two partners right there that Jericho can count
- 25:57Speaker 1: on a double or nothing, maybe three if MVP actually wrestles.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I'm not sure if he'll be wrestling or not on
- 26:03Speaker 1: that show, but I have to point this out. In
- 26:08Speaker 1: all of this, Tony Schavanni referred to Shelton Benjamin as
- 26:12Speaker 1: Benjamin Shelton. Yes, he pulled a Hogan on Shelton Benjamin.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Remember Shelton Benjamin's tweet after Hulk Hogan name dropped him
- 26:21Speaker 1: and called him Benjamin Shelton in one of those interviews
- 26:23Speaker 1: that Hogan was doing it basically, Shelton tweeted. He was
- 26:27Speaker 1: like he did the Will Smith thing where it's like
- 26:29Speaker 1: keep my basically, keep my fucking name out of your mouth.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Benjamin Shelton, he called him, and Shelton I think is
- 26:37Speaker 1: from was it Orangeburg? South Carolina? He's a South Carolina boy.
- 26:42Speaker 1: This was a homecoming for him. This was a homecoming
- 26:45Speaker 1: for Benjamin Shelton. Good job, Tony. So backstage, Harley Cameron
- 26:52Speaker 1: and Mina Sheirakawa, they were being interviewed by Renee. Harley
- 26:56Speaker 1: was conflicted about wrestling Chris Statlander in the tag team
- 26:59Speaker 1: match tonight. Mina, though, fired her up and told her
- 27:02Speaker 1: we have a match to win, and she tore at
- 27:07Speaker 1: Harley's shirt. She ripped her shirt and her just gigantic
- 27:11Speaker 1: breasts fell out of the shirts she was wearing a bra,
- 27:15Speaker 1: and Mina apologized because she didn't know that she didn't
- 27:18Speaker 1: have her gear on, and Harley ends up taking the
- 27:23Speaker 1: rest of her shirt off and she's all hanging out
- 27:26Speaker 1: there and this was again her way of firing up
- 27:30Speaker 1: Harley Cameron and then Renee told Harley, you've got to
- 27:32Speaker 1: go put something on. Yes, I'm sure for many of
- 27:38Speaker 1: you this was probably your favorite segment of the night.
- 27:41Speaker 1: To be honest with you, when I look up and
- 27:43Speaker 1: down the show, outside of the main event, may it
- 27:45Speaker 1: may have been, it may have been the most exciting
- 27:48Speaker 1: thing to happen on this show. Kazuchika Okada against the
- 27:54Speaker 1: bounty hunter Brian Keith. That shaved head that Brian Keith
- 28:01Speaker 1: has with the little rattail in the back, I mean,
- 28:03Speaker 1: that is certainly a choice. One thing that has not changed, though,
- 28:08Speaker 1: outside of his hairstyle, is that Brian Keith is actually
- 28:12Speaker 1: really good. I know it could be hard to remember
- 28:17Speaker 1: because we don't see him on the show very often.
- 28:19Speaker 1: They did mention that he's been on a roll. I
- 28:20Speaker 1: guess he's got a little bit of a wind streak
- 28:22Speaker 1: going and Ring of Honor, but ever since the Learning
- 28:26Speaker 1: Tree stuff came to an end, he's pretty much been
- 28:28Speaker 1: relegated to Collision and or Ring of Honor. Same for
- 28:32Speaker 1: Big Bill. If you only watch Dynamite or even Dynamite
- 28:36Speaker 1: and Collision, because they're not always on Collision, they've kind
- 28:38Speaker 1: of vanished and it's easy to forget. You know that
- 28:41Speaker 1: Brian Keith is actually a hell of a hand here.
- 28:43Speaker 1: But like the Juice Robinson match earlier, you see these
- 28:46Speaker 1: two guys out there in the ring and you already
- 28:48Speaker 1: know the finish before the bell even rings. You know,
- 28:51Speaker 1: there's not a whole lot of drama here to what
- 28:53Speaker 1: we're seeing. So they grappled early on. We got some graps. Anyway, way,
- 29:00Speaker 1: late in the match, Okata landed a dropkick. He went
- 29:03Speaker 1: for the rain maker. Keith, they'll block the attempt with
- 29:06Speaker 1: a headbutt. Now, he had tried unsuccessfully twice before this
- 29:10Speaker 1: to hit a tiger driver, and so he you know,
- 29:13Speaker 1: the double underhook power bomb. On the third attempt though,
- 29:16Speaker 1: he nailed it, but he only got a two and
- 29:18Speaker 1: a half count. So then he went for a diamond
- 29:21Speaker 1: dust out of the corner. Okada, though avoided it, finally
- 29:23Speaker 1: hit the rain maker and he got the win. Again.
- 29:26Speaker 1: This was an eliminator match for the International title, not
- 29:29Speaker 1: an actual championship match. A red dead rat tail redemption.
- 29:37Speaker 1: There you go. So after the match, Okada got on
- 29:42Speaker 1: the mic and he said that he was the International
- 29:45Speaker 1: champion unlike a Takeshta, but he wants more so he's
- 29:49Speaker 1: coming for the AEW World Championship. Bitch, everybody wants Darby.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Everybody is coming for the world title, except the one
- 30:00Speaker 1: man who you would expect to come for the world
- 30:02Speaker 1: title who made his return to television last week, Swerve Strickland.
- 30:05Speaker 1: He's not going after the world title. He's chosen to
- 30:08Speaker 1: go after the ring of honor world champion. And I
- 30:11Speaker 1: don't even think it's gonna be for the title when
- 30:12Speaker 1: they meet. Yeah, we hear Swerve. I'll get to the
- 30:16Speaker 1: Swerve stuff here in a second, but we hear Swerve
- 30:17Speaker 1: talking about power. I want all the power. I don't know.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I mean, call me crazy here, but I would think
- 30:25Speaker 1: of all the championships that you could be chasing after,
- 30:27Speaker 1: the one that would offer you the most power of
- 30:29Speaker 1: all is the AW world title that you yourself once held.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And I get it. It's not a match that they
- 30:36Speaker 1: want to do right now, so of course they're gonna
- 30:37Speaker 1: stay away from it. But again, I just can't help
- 30:40Speaker 1: but point out how goofy it is that Swerve is
- 30:42Speaker 1: back and Darby is handing out title shots every single
- 30:45Speaker 1: week like Candy. And look, Darby could say no, but
- 30:50Speaker 1: he shows up to go after Bandido of all people,
- 30:53Speaker 1: and not take advantage of this small window of opportunity
- 30:57Speaker 1: to take the championship away from the one hundred and
- 30:59Speaker 1: seven Emo kid who is currently walking around with it.
- 31:03Speaker 1: You know that belt is big, that's a big championship
- 31:06Speaker 1: that bell. I'm surprised Darby doesn't tip over when he's
- 31:08Speaker 1: holding that championship up. But now Okata has thrown his
- 31:13Speaker 1: name into the hat. And what is Androde going to
- 31:16Speaker 1: think about this? Right? Androtte has said I think in
- 31:18Speaker 1: the past that he wants to go after the World championship.
- 31:21Speaker 1: They're part of the same faction. They had a video
- 31:23Speaker 1: package tonight for Androtti, but he was not on the show,
- 31:27Speaker 1: so I don't know. I don't know if that might
- 31:29Speaker 1: cause some issues within the Callus family. The ops were backstage,
- 31:35Speaker 1: minus Hook who was not there. Samoa Joe said that
- 31:38Speaker 1: he's worried. Last week he put out an offer that
- 31:41Speaker 1: he's afraid is not being heard. He tells Will Osprey
- 31:45Speaker 1: to hear these words. John Moxley is telling you how
- 31:48Speaker 1: to think. I won't do that. I want you to
- 31:51Speaker 1: think however you want to think. He sees that Osprey
- 31:54Speaker 1: is destined for greatness and some even say he'll be
- 31:57Speaker 1: the next world champion. How much will be left for Osprey? Though,
- 32:01Speaker 1: to be such a champion with men like Joe by
- 32:04Speaker 1: his side, it could be a very long time. You know,
- 32:07Speaker 1: Hook is gone this week, he's filming a movie. Joe
- 32:10Speaker 1: puts people in a better position to succeed. He's gonna
- 32:13Speaker 1: put Anthony Bowen's in a better position to succeed. Katsiori
- 32:16Speaker 1: Shabata is already one of the best in the world.
- 32:19Speaker 1: The choice is up to Osprey, and it's clear as day.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Joe puts his hand out one last time, but if
- 32:25Speaker 1: it's not accepted, the next thing Joe puts out will
- 32:27Speaker 1: be his fist. So the Death Riders currently have will
- 32:33Speaker 1: Osprey in training camp, but now the Ops they want
- 32:36Speaker 1: to welcome Osprey into the fold. They should have all
- 32:40Speaker 1: the factions in this company vying for will Ospray the
- 32:43Speaker 1: way that all the managers were for Bam Bam Bigelo
- 32:47Speaker 1: back in the day. There when Bambam joined WWF in
- 32:50Speaker 1: the eighty all the managers every week it was like
- 32:53Speaker 1: a different manager. They would cut promos. You know, it's
- 32:56Speaker 1: like their big offer to lure Bam Bam in offer
- 33:00Speaker 1: their services to him, and then ultimately he went with
- 33:03Speaker 1: Oliver Humperdink. He went with Oliver Humperdink over Bobby Heenen
- 33:08Speaker 1: and Jimmy Hart and people like that. They need to
- 33:11Speaker 1: have like a faction sweepstakes. The conglomeration, right, they want
- 33:14Speaker 1: will Ospray, the Kallus family. They want to make amends
- 33:18Speaker 1: and bring back will Ospray, bring him into the full.
- 33:20Speaker 1: The dogs they want will Ospray. Actually, the dogs probably
- 33:24Speaker 1: don't want will Ospray. I don't think will Ospray wants
- 33:26Speaker 1: the dogs either. Chris Statlander and Hikarashida against Mina Shirakawa
- 33:32Speaker 1: and Harley Cameron. Late in the match, shei'da inadvertently took
- 33:36Speaker 1: out Statlander with a running knee strike. Cameron hit a
- 33:40Speaker 1: backstabber on Shidah. Statlander then took out Harley with a
- 33:43Speaker 1: kick and then knocked Mina off the apron and she'da
- 33:46Speaker 1: delivered a falcon arrow and pinned Harley to win the
- 33:48Speaker 1: match for her team. And when it was over, Statlander
- 33:51Speaker 1: had a look on her face like she wasn't very happy.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Little friendly fire there, But again, Shidah has been acting
- 33:58Speaker 1: very heelish for many weeks now on television, So this
- 34:00Speaker 1: is all building to some sort of big blow up
- 34:04Speaker 1: between them at some point, maybe a match beyond that. Again,
- 34:08Speaker 1: it's just it's hard to get excited about some of
- 34:10Speaker 1: this stuff. Honestly, even Statlander here when this was over,
- 34:13Speaker 1: I don't know the look on her face. I know
- 34:14Speaker 1: she was trying to sell whatever the point of this
- 34:17Speaker 1: all was, but even she had a look on her
- 34:19Speaker 1: face like, man, she's in this weird transitional period where
- 34:24Speaker 1: she's no longer the world champion and they're telling this
- 34:26Speaker 1: story now where she is in a good position because
- 34:29Speaker 1: they have an actual story for her. But it's not
- 34:32Speaker 1: like this is doing much for Statlander. I mean, there's
- 34:34Speaker 1: a huge step down for her. And the crowd in
- 34:38Speaker 1: South Carolina wasn't terribly excited about any of this either.
- 34:43Speaker 1: We got a pre tape promo with the aforementioned Swerve
- 34:46Speaker 1: Strickland and Prince Nana still had that wanted poster of Bandido.
- 34:52Speaker 1: He said he told people two months ago that he
- 34:54Speaker 1: was after power. Power is the ability to decide who
- 34:57Speaker 1: eats and who starves, and it comes from being the
- 35:00Speaker 1: most violent and even the most wanted. Swerve said, there's
- 35:04Speaker 1: no one more dangerous than someone who was after power
- 35:06Speaker 1: and he wants all of it. Evidently not evidently not
- 35:13Speaker 1: not much of an explanation either for why he's choosing
- 35:16Speaker 1: to go after Bandido. I don't what power does Bandido have?
- 35:21Speaker 1: He explained that to me. If this is truly about power,
- 35:23Speaker 1: what power is it? And don't tell me the Ring
- 35:26Speaker 1: of Honor World Championship or I'll punch you in the face.
- 35:29Speaker 1: What power is it that Bandido possesses that Swerve thinks
- 35:33Speaker 1: he will gain by beating Bandido. I don't know the
- 35:39Speaker 1: answer to that question, but I do know one thing.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to the match. The explanation sucks, but
- 35:45Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to the match. They had not made
- 35:47Speaker 1: it official yet for double or nothing. Clearly this will
- 35:49Speaker 1: take place there and that will only make that card stronger. Now,
- 35:53Speaker 1: Renee was backstage with Brodido after this, and Bandido said
- 35:58Speaker 1: that Swerve was right. He is the most wanted and
- 36:00Speaker 1: if Strickland wants to fight, come and get it. It's
- 36:04Speaker 1: like God, the Jack Jack Palance in City Slickers, coming,
- 36:11Speaker 1: Get me, coming, get me right. The gold is up there,
- 36:15Speaker 1: The gold is out there in Nell's Hills. Somewhere. Come
- 36:17Speaker 1: and get me, Come and get me. The fuck was
- 36:21Speaker 1: his name in that movie. Ah, I haven't seen City
- 36:25Speaker 1: Slickers in a long City Slickers Too also a very
- 36:27Speaker 1: good movie. I wonder if Jack Palence is still alive,
- 36:33Speaker 1: how old would he be at this point? He was
- 36:36Speaker 1: ancient back then, and that movie had to come out
- 36:38Speaker 1: late nineties. What would he be like one hundred and
- 36:41Speaker 1: thirty one now if he was still alive. Curly, thank you,
- 36:45Speaker 1: there you go? All right? City Slickers Too was like
- 36:47Speaker 1: the legend of Curly. Yeah, the gold, the gold is
- 36:52Speaker 1: in the second the phony Gold when they realized that, wait,
- 36:58Speaker 1: this is not real. So Brody King was standing there
- 37:02Speaker 1: when Bendido was responding to Swerve, and then Brody said
- 37:06Speaker 1: that he knows Bendido's got this, but if Swerve messes
- 37:09Speaker 1: with his friends, then you mess with him. It's like ruche.
- 37:14Speaker 1: You mess with the bull, you get the hearns all right.
- 37:17Speaker 1: So he died in two thousand and six, that was
- 37:19Speaker 1: the year before I started the sound off. He was
- 37:23Speaker 1: eighty seven. Oh, he was eighty seven. Ted Turner was
- 37:25Speaker 1: eighty seven, all right, so yeah, he would be almost
- 37:29Speaker 1: one hundred and ten. No, actually, no, he'd be one
- 37:33Speaker 1: hundred and seven. Wow, he could have made it anyway.
- 37:40Speaker 1: The main event. Yeah, we're up to the main event already, folks.
- 37:42Speaker 1: You could see like, not a whole lot of excitement
- 37:45Speaker 1: going on here on this television show until we got
- 37:47Speaker 1: to the main event. We have the TNT champion Kevin Knight,
- 37:51Speaker 1: his title not on the line. He is challenging though,
- 37:54Speaker 1: for the aw World Championship currently held by Darby Allen.
- 37:58Speaker 1: So I'll spare you. So nothing really happened before the
- 38:03Speaker 1: ad break here. After the ad break, Darby delivered a
- 38:05Speaker 1: code bred for a near fall and Knight ended up
- 38:09Speaker 1: out on the floor and Darby does his suicide dive
- 38:13Speaker 1: and he comes charging out to the floor towards where
- 38:16Speaker 1: the announced desk is and he knocks Kevin Knight backwards
- 38:20Speaker 1: and the back of his head smacks into the announced desk,
- 38:24Speaker 1: and even the announcers were a little concerned about the
- 38:27Speaker 1: impact of his head smacking the desk. So Darby then
- 38:31Speaker 1: sat him in a chair and he climbed up top.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Knight got off the chair and he ends up pulling
- 38:37Speaker 1: Darby off the top with a rana and Darby just
- 38:41Speaker 1: crashes and burns and splats on the floor outside, so
- 38:47Speaker 1: Knight sat Darby on top of the announced desk. He
- 38:49Speaker 1: goes back into the ring and he delivers this spectacular
- 38:54Speaker 1: looking springboard clothesline. And again Darby is sitting there and
- 39:00Speaker 1: he comes off with this springboard clothes line. Both of
- 39:03Speaker 1: them go just ass over tea kettle. They roll over
- 39:06Speaker 1: the desk. They take this hard spill onto the floor,
- 39:09Speaker 1: just this ridiculous bump, I mean easily the biggest of
- 39:12Speaker 1: the night. And Night came up limping he was selling
- 39:16Speaker 1: his knee. He tosses Darby back inside. He climbs up
- 39:19Speaker 1: topy dives at Darby. Darby catches him though into the
- 39:23Speaker 1: scorpion deathlock, and Knight struggled a little bit, but he
- 39:26Speaker 1: ultimately made it to the bottom rope for the break.
- 39:29Speaker 1: So Darby climbs to the top for a coffin drop,
- 39:31Speaker 1: but Knight gets the knees up upon the landing and
- 39:33Speaker 1: then Knight places Darby on the buckles in the corner.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Darby elbow's free. He tries for another coffin drop. Knight,
- 39:40Speaker 1: though ends up hanging him upside down in the corner,
- 39:43Speaker 1: and he goes to the opposing corner on the same
- 39:46Speaker 1: side of the ring. He's going to go coast to
- 39:48Speaker 1: coast and he delivers this tremendous coast to coast drop kick,
- 39:53Speaker 1: and the announcers point out correctly that that is the
- 39:56Speaker 1: same move that he he used on Darby in their
- 40:01Speaker 1: Continental Classic match that can cussed Darby and ultimately resulted
- 40:06Speaker 1: in him being pulled from the tournament. He was, I
- 40:08Speaker 1: believe the report at the time was that he was
- 40:10Speaker 1: like majorly can cuss, like he got fucked up in
- 40:13Speaker 1: that match. But for Darby, he probably gets concussed just
- 40:16Speaker 1: rolling out of bed, So for him it was probably like, okay,
- 40:20Speaker 1: I'll take a week off and I'll be okay. But
- 40:22Speaker 1: he hits it and Darby looks like he's done for
- 40:27Speaker 1: He races up to the top rope, he comes off
- 40:30Speaker 1: with the UFO splash his finish and he nails it.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Now he immediately begins selling the knee, so he didn't
- 40:37Speaker 1: cover him immediately. But yeah, there wasn't a whole lot
- 40:40Speaker 1: of time that went by, maybe like three or four seconds,
- 40:42Speaker 1: and then ultimately he covers Darby and Darby gets a
- 40:45Speaker 1: shoulder up. We got super Darby. Knight went for another
- 40:49Speaker 1: splash Darby caught him though with a guillotine. Night powered out. Darby,
- 40:54Speaker 1: though ended up draping him over the top rope and
- 40:57Speaker 1: he delivered a coffin drop to the back and the
- 40:59Speaker 1: momentum then sent Kevin Knight flying through the air, landing
- 41:03Speaker 1: on the mat. Darby raced up top, he hit a
- 41:06Speaker 1: proper coffin drop and then he got the pin to
- 41:09Speaker 1: retain the championship. So after the match was over Grandpa's sting,
- 41:14Speaker 1: he walks back down to the ring to celebrate with Darby,
- 41:18Speaker 1: and he was paying respect to Kevin Knight as well.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Kevin Knight gets to his feet, he puts his hand out,
- 41:23Speaker 1: he shakes hands with Darby. All lovey dovey. Here is
- 41:27Speaker 1: the Dynamite portion of the the event. Tonight concluded, I
- 41:33Speaker 1: always love it, how like I watched in the HBO
- 41:35Speaker 1: Max app. And when Dynamite ends, they don't just go
- 41:39Speaker 1: into collision. It says like this event has ended, I
- 41:41Speaker 1: have to back out. I have to refresh and then
- 41:45Speaker 1: click the collision button and then it plays collision. They
- 41:50Speaker 1: do treat it as two separate shows, one hell of
- 41:54Speaker 1: a main event. I will say to close out what
- 41:56Speaker 1: I thought overall, was a very boring show. I'm sorry.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I know we got some good wrestling tonight, this show
- 42:01Speaker 1: is fucking boring. There was just a whole lot of
- 42:04Speaker 1: nothing going on, even though I know they were pushing
- 42:06Speaker 1: certain things forward for some of the matches at the
- 42:09Speaker 1: pay per view, and that's fine. It just was not
- 42:12Speaker 1: a very exciting show. You know, I was struggling. I
- 42:17Speaker 1: was struggling to get through this one. This was not great.
- 42:19Speaker 1: If I want to watch Collision, I would have stuck
- 42:21Speaker 1: around and watched the entire third hour. That's what this
- 42:25Speaker 1: felt like. This week's episode is sponsored by WIS. I
- 42:29Speaker 1: know there's quite a few of you who listened to
- 42:30Speaker 1: this podcast who were small business owners as I am,
- 42:34Speaker 1: and I don't have an active, dedicated website at the
- 42:36Speaker 1: moment like I used to. But I may have to
- 42:38Speaker 1: jump back in feet first suit because wix Harmony is
- 42:41Speaker 1: the kind of resource that I wish existed back when
- 42:43Speaker 1: I created my first website, and having had the chance
- 42:46Speaker 1: to play around with it, I can tell you if
- 42:48Speaker 1: you're thinking about creating your own site, WIS is going
- 42:51Speaker 1: to make your life a lot easier. Wicks Harmony is
- 42:54Speaker 1: an AI website builder that allows you to build your
- 42:57Speaker 1: own site and get it up super fast with out
- 43:00Speaker 1: the need to cut corners and leap things out. So
- 43:02Speaker 1: if you can close your eyes and picture your ideal website,
- 43:05Speaker 1: WIS can turn that vision into a reality just by
- 43:09Speaker 1: describing your idea. Then you can choose between chatting with
- 43:12Speaker 1: AI or editing things yourself to get your site to
- 43:16Speaker 1: look exactly the way that you wanted to. You've also
- 43:18Speaker 1: got Aria, an AI agent who can answer any questions
- 43:22Speaker 1: you have or help you get stuff done. And Aria
- 43:24Speaker 1: doesn't just live in some chat box. You can click
- 43:27Speaker 1: anywhere on your site at any time and ask her
- 43:30Speaker 1: to make a change instead of sitting there typing in
- 43:33Speaker 1: prompt after prompt after prompt, join the millions of businesses
- 43:37Speaker 1: that already use Wix and try wix Harmony for free
- 43:40Speaker 1: right now at wis dot com slash Harmony. That's wis
- 43:44Speaker 1: dot com slash Harmony. So Darby, of course, in this match,
- 43:48Speaker 1: he continues to just kill himself, taking crazy stupid bumps.
- 43:53Speaker 1: But it's all he knows how to do, you know.
- 43:56Speaker 1: And it's the same stuff they had him doing in
- 43:58Speaker 1: that second stint that he had for a month or
- 44:01Speaker 1: whatever it was when he was the TNT champion, just
- 44:04Speaker 1: fighting different people every single week until the wheels fall off.
- 44:08Speaker 1: That's what Orange Cassidy did when he was the International champion, right,
- 44:12Speaker 1: just keep fighting every single week until the wheels fall off.
- 44:17Speaker 1: So Collision started. I said, let's see what they do.
- 44:19Speaker 1: At the beginning of Collision, Sting finished celebrating with Darby.
- 44:23Speaker 1: He went to the back. Now Darby is sitting on
- 44:25Speaker 1: the apron and we hear mjf's music, and so MJF
- 44:30Speaker 1: makes his way out onto the stage and he said, look,
- 44:38Speaker 1: the reign of terror here continues, but it's time to
- 44:43Speaker 1: give me my rematch. And Darby says no, so that
- 44:48Speaker 1: bugs Bunny meme. No, no, He reiterates what he's been
- 44:52Speaker 1: saying now for weeks. You're not getting a rematch, so
- 44:56Speaker 1: mj and again, the point is you don't get a
- 44:58Speaker 1: rematch a less you put something on the line. So
- 45:02Speaker 1: what does Darby have to put on the line, or
- 45:05Speaker 1: MJF rather, what does he have to put on the line.
- 45:08Speaker 1: MJF says, okay, I'll tell you what. I'll put my
- 45:12Speaker 1: scarf on the line. That actually got a pop from
- 45:14Speaker 1: the crowd, which the crowd was pretty quiet for a
- 45:16Speaker 1: good chunk of the of the show. They popped though
- 45:19Speaker 1: for him offering the birdberry scarf. He offered the scarf,
- 45:23Speaker 1: Darby said no. MJF says, I'll tell you what. How
- 45:28Speaker 1: about I put my dynamite diamond ring on the line.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Darby says no. MJF offers him money. I'll give you
- 45:39Speaker 1: a million dollars and Darby said, look, you're talking to
- 45:43Speaker 1: a guy who used to be homeless in his car,
- 45:45Speaker 1: living under a bridge. He goes, your money is no
- 45:49Speaker 1: good here. No, he wants something that Max holds near
- 45:53Speaker 1: and dear to his heart, something that he would fly
- 45:57Speaker 1: fifteen hours to Turkey for to get gets sewn onto
- 46:01Speaker 1: his head. He wants him to put his hair on
- 46:07Speaker 1: the line. And MJF told him, come on now, be reasonable,
- 46:13Speaker 1: and Darby said, next week contracts signing. Either you say
- 46:16Speaker 1: yes or you're never getting another shot at this ever again.
- 46:22Speaker 1: And MJF, for the first time in his career, is speechless.
- 46:25Speaker 1: He made it like he was about to say something,
- 46:28Speaker 1: and then he just dropped the mic and he left,
- 46:32Speaker 1: and we weren't done yet because then we heard the
- 46:34Speaker 1: coin drop. An out comes Kazuchka Okada after his win
- 46:39Speaker 1: over Brian Keith earlier in the night, he issued the
- 46:41Speaker 1: challenge to Darby. So Okada comes down to the ring
- 46:45Speaker 1: and now they're in the ring and he confronts Darby
- 46:48Speaker 1: and he just goes next week you and me for
- 46:52Speaker 1: your world title, and Darby tells him you're on bitch,
- 46:59Speaker 1: and so official that on Dynamite. Next week we are
- 47:02Speaker 1: gonna get Darby Allen defending the aw World Championship against
- 47:06Speaker 1: Kazusko Okada. Now, the idea of Darby beating Okada clean
- 47:11Speaker 1: makes me physically ill, especially before they do the Okata
- 47:15Speaker 1: Takesha match. Like Tony Khan should be relieved of his
- 47:19Speaker 1: duties if Okada goes in there next week and loses clean.
- 47:23Speaker 1: So that's not going to happen. I would imagine that
- 47:26Speaker 1: perhaps Takeshta will show up, maybe a little bit of
- 47:30Speaker 1: a distraction. Even then, like the idea of Darby pinning
- 47:33Speaker 1: Okada again, it just makes me sick. It just should
- 47:36Speaker 1: not be happening. So I don't know how they're going
- 47:39Speaker 1: to ultimately do the finish, but I'm sure Takeshta will
- 47:42Speaker 1: show up and be involved in some way as he
- 47:44Speaker 1: should be, as he should be unless they just want
- 47:48Speaker 1: to have Okada beat Darby, which would be quite the swerve.
- 47:51Speaker 1: They just walks around with two belts, drops one of
- 47:54Speaker 1: them to Takeshta at double or nothing. I'd be okay
- 47:57Speaker 1: with that. But anyway, so this hairshit, I was racking
- 48:05Speaker 1: my brain trying to figure out, Okay, what could they
- 48:07Speaker 1: have MJF put on the line here? And I kept
- 48:12Speaker 1: coming back to two things. He puts his career on
- 48:15Speaker 1: the line, which, yes, of course that makes the telegraphs
- 48:19Speaker 1: the finish of the match. But let's be honest here,
- 48:21Speaker 1: even this stipulation telegraphs the finish of the match. I
- 48:24Speaker 1: don't want to hear from people like, oh, they couldn't
- 48:25Speaker 1: do that, solid monster. They couldn't have him put his
- 48:28Speaker 1: career on the line because then it gives away the finish.
- 48:31Speaker 1: They couldn't have the Hangman stipulation where I promised to
- 48:35Speaker 1: never again be able to challenge for the world title
- 48:37Speaker 1: if I lose, because that would telegraph the finish. Do
- 48:41Speaker 1: you honestly believe that MJF is going into this fucking
- 48:44Speaker 1: pay per view and getting his head shaved? Either way,
- 48:48Speaker 1: it telegraphs to finish. So the hair thing look what
- 48:54Speaker 1: they're gonna do is they're going to lean into the
- 48:56Speaker 1: fact that MJF. He's very materialistic, he's very vain person.
- 49:02Speaker 1: They've had people on TV make fun of him for
- 49:04Speaker 1: it before, you know, going to Turkey and getting you know,
- 49:06Speaker 1: getting the hair procedure and everything, the hair plugs, whatever
- 49:09Speaker 1: it is, and so it kind of for MJF. Yes,
- 49:13Speaker 1: it's something that is obviously important to him. He spent
- 49:16Speaker 1: a lot of money on it. I get it, I
- 49:20Speaker 1: get it. But still it's like, eh, hair versus title.
- 49:29Speaker 1: He's getting the belt back on that show either way.
- 49:31Speaker 1: So I mean, at the end of the day, none
- 49:32Speaker 1: of this really matters. But I mean, whatever, man, I can't,
- 49:38Speaker 1: I can't. I don't know. I don't know anymore. Will
- 49:45Speaker 1: Ospray there was one more thing from Collision. I wanted
- 49:49Speaker 1: to mention here. Will Osprey was standing in the back
- 49:52Speaker 1: with Brene and with Doc Samson for a medical update.
- 49:56Speaker 1: And it's funny because the doctor is like, even though
- 50:00Speaker 1: Will ignored my advice and he went to Japan and
- 50:03Speaker 1: he wrestled. Whatever he's doing in his training, he says,
- 50:07Speaker 1: seems to be working. And they're going to get an
- 50:09Speaker 1: MRI this week. And if it comes back good, he's
- 50:12Speaker 1: going to clear him. So that's the update on Osprey.
- 50:15Speaker 1: She asked Osprey then about his relationship with the Death Riders,
- 50:19Speaker 1: and he says he appreciates them letting him in on
- 50:22Speaker 1: their training, but he's not a Death Rider. He never
- 50:24Speaker 1: will be. But there's things that he knows he has
- 50:27Speaker 1: to do to get to where he wants to be. Okay,
- 50:33Speaker 1: that's about as good of an explanation as you're going
- 50:35Speaker 1: to really get, realistically, considering how much of a blood
- 50:38Speaker 1: feud this was up until a few weeks ago. Yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 1: this is now the phase of his story where he
- 50:44Speaker 1: has to sort of build himself back up from the
- 50:47Speaker 1: ground up. And that's the whole purpose of the Death
- 50:51Speaker 1: Riders here, is to get will Osprey to be that
- 50:53Speaker 1: killer version of himself, to get him ready for that
- 50:56Speaker 1: World Championship run that he is going to have, presuming
- 51:00Speaker 1: he wins the world title at Wembley Stadium, as most
- 51:04Speaker 1: people think he will. After that, that was the end
- 51:08Speaker 1: of Collision for me. So that was the end of
- 51:10Speaker 1: the most important parts of Collision at that point, and
- 51:15Speaker 1: that was the end of the show. There you go,
- 51:20Speaker 1: a very good main event tonight a very good main event.
- 51:24Speaker 1: I can't say much about everything else. There just was
- 51:27Speaker 1: nothing here that really excited me. Unfortunately, what if he
- 51:33Speaker 1: changes his style because of the neck injury. See the
- 51:36Speaker 1: thing with will Osprey, though, is he's not going to.
- 51:39Speaker 1: He might incorporate some new moves into his move set,
- 51:42Speaker 1: but will Osprey is always he's not going to be
- 51:44Speaker 1: able to help himself. Will Osprey is still going to
- 51:48Speaker 1: do all the stuff that he normally does. He's going
- 51:50Speaker 1: to do the Fosbury Flop. He's going to do all
- 51:53Speaker 1: sorts of crazy shit, the sky Twister press and everything
- 51:56Speaker 1: else that's not going to go away. He's going to
- 51:58Speaker 1: take these ridiculous bumps. He's gonna get dropped on his head.
- 52:03Speaker 1: He probably should change his style up, but he's not
- 52:07Speaker 1: going to. All right, let's see what we got here
- 52:13Speaker 1: in terms of the super chats. Read your messages here,
- 52:19Speaker 1: let's see what we got going on. Somebody asked before,
- 52:24Speaker 1: what the like skull wash? It doesn't matter. We're not
- 52:27Speaker 1: going to hit it, so it don't matter. It's looking
- 52:34Speaker 1: like no be the booker and no phone calls. But
- 52:36Speaker 1: let's get through what we got here. I appreciate you guys.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Dried Chicken says rest in peace to Ted Turner. Also,
- 52:46Speaker 1: he says, if only MJF pulled out the pinky finger,
- 52:49Speaker 1: and he says one million dollars like Doctor Evil. The
- 52:59Speaker 1: Uofman says me, They're ripped open Harley's shirt and then
- 53:02Speaker 1: Harley removed it herself. Greatest dynamite ever. I think Ufman
- 53:08Speaker 1: needs to take a cold shower tonight. Easy there, Big
- 53:13Speaker 1: Fella also says he man has the power. Yeah. Maybe
- 53:20Speaker 1: Swerve is auditioning for a role in the Masters of
- 53:23Speaker 1: the Universe sequel Mason Rook. Do you think Mason Rook
- 53:28Speaker 1: is the next Brock Lesnar or obi Obi? Really No,
- 53:34Speaker 1: there's only one Obi. There is only one obi Wan. No,
- 53:43Speaker 1: he is not. He'll be the first Mason Rook. He
- 53:47Speaker 1: will not be Brock. He will not be Oba soup executive.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Oh wow wow, So that sounds like somebody I would
- 53:56Speaker 1: like to work for. I'm a big chicken soup guy.
- 53:59Speaker 1: I would like to work for the soup executive. He says,
- 54:02Speaker 1: thanks for the dynamite review. You're very welcome. EJ. Slent
- 54:06Speaker 1: buy or sell Savage versus chonoh or steamboat versus Shoshu
- 54:13Speaker 1: Savage versus Chonoh and EJ Slent just the last word here,
- 54:19Speaker 1: buy Cell Rent Kerry, Von Eric versus Hyabusa, Marifuji versus
- 54:24Speaker 1: Ziggler or Rock against Nagada, my boy carry against Hyabusa.
- 54:33Speaker 1: That could be a disaster. You know, it's interesting. Rock
- 54:40Speaker 1: against Eugi Nagata actually sounds kind of interesting. I think
- 54:46Speaker 1: I would probably go Marifuji and Ziggler, and then Rock
- 54:50Speaker 1: and Nagada, and then the Von Eric and Hyabusa, probably
- 54:54Speaker 1: in that order is what I would do. Who is
- 55:00Speaker 1: Mason Rooke. He is the new rook e who recently
- 55:05Speaker 1: debuted in NXT. Does not look like your typical NXT star,
- 55:11Speaker 1: which is one reason he stands out so much. I
- 55:16Speaker 1: like that. I like the fact that not everybody has
- 55:17Speaker 1: to look the same and sound the same and be
- 55:19Speaker 1: the same, because when that happens, that's fucking boring. I
- 55:24Speaker 1: haven't seen too much of him though. What limited stuff
- 55:27Speaker 1: I have seen of him though is impressive. But again,
- 55:29Speaker 1: I would not be making comparisons to brock Lesner or
- 55:32Speaker 1: Obafemi or anybody else. Let him carve out his own
- 55:36Speaker 1: path and let's see how he does. Because we all
- 55:39Speaker 1: know that if he's not making improvements fast enough in
- 55:41Speaker 1: six months, he'll be on the cut list. Because that's
- 55:44Speaker 1: how it works in WWA. We as we well know
- 55:50Speaker 1: that is how it works in that company. Look at
- 55:53Speaker 1: that an hour on the dot, very economical. Tonight. The
- 55:58Speaker 1: next time I am live with you will be on
- 56:00Speaker 1: Friday night. We will be talking SmackDown. Get ready, everybody,
- 56:05Speaker 1: it is the funeral of the gingerbread Man. Yes, the
- 56:10Speaker 1: excitement continues here on YouTube. We have the gingerbread Man.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Will be will be honored, he will be laid to
- 56:18Speaker 1: rest on Friday night. I don't know what else they've
- 56:23Speaker 1: announced for SmackDown. Have they announced anything else for SmackDown?
- 56:28Speaker 1: I don't even know if they have, I don't even know.
- 56:34Speaker 1: I don't even know. But that'll be on Friday night.
- 56:38Speaker 1: If you missed it, brand new episode of The Uncrowned
- 56:40Speaker 1: Wrestling Show went up yesterday. Covered a lot of different
- 56:44Speaker 1: topics on there, so I hope you enjoyed it, and
- 56:47Speaker 1: if you haven't listened to it yet, what the hell
- 56:48Speaker 1: is wrong with you? So go ahead and check that
