- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The world's
- 0:09Speaker 1: origion poet, Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. Any thoughts, um Paul
- 0:20Speaker 1: or Alex on yesterday's announcement, Paul, you're disgusted with the
- 0:24Speaker 1: whole thing. I'm not. Do you think Patriots fans think
- 0:26Speaker 1: this is I'm not going to get into like the
- 0:29Speaker 1: Patriot fans think. I just I'm saying what I certainly
- 0:31Speaker 1: not one but a nice call friend from He asked basketball,
- 0:36Speaker 1: are you from here? When was that like ninety three
- 0:39Speaker 1: something like that. I forget what yarro was. I wasn't
- 0:42Speaker 1: even born yet. And I also don't go away. The
- 0:44Speaker 1: b roll was very carefully crafted to make sure it
- 0:47Speaker 1: was fifty percent Patriots and fifty percent Buccaneers, and that
- 0:50Speaker 1: pissed me off. Years in six Super Bowl wins appearances,
- 0:56Speaker 1: he well, that's what it is. We want to claim
- 0:58Speaker 1: him as our he is not, According to Yes, why
- 1:02Speaker 1: do you care what they do? All of a sudden,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you've for twenty years you've you've called them the anti Christ.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Now you can't that they have a logo one I
- 1:12Speaker 1: don't like the anti christ ESPN. Brady retires and it's
- 1:15Speaker 1: all Bucks logos. That's BS. It's BS. Oh. I think
- 1:19Speaker 1: they're talking about Kyle Trash though. Is Patriots Unfiltered fueled
- 1:23Speaker 1: by Duncan? All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is
- 1:29Speaker 1: Tuesday here at Gillette Stadium, and I feel like we've
- 1:33Speaker 1: got a lot to talk about. I mean, man, you know, uh,
- 1:38Speaker 1: our team's back from the Shrine Bowl, so we've got
- 1:40Speaker 1: all that and the Pro Bowl, Matt Judon festival going
- 1:44Speaker 1: out there on Patriots dot Com and all our social
- 1:46Speaker 1: media accounts. But you know, you've still got the lingering
- 1:50Speaker 1: thoughts about the Brady retirement and what to do uh
- 1:56Speaker 1: as a Patriots organization for him and what would he
- 1:59Speaker 1: be willing to do. We've got the Super Bowl coming up.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You know, we got record cold over the weekend and
- 2:08Speaker 1: we Paul and I already got into an argument. He
- 2:11Speaker 1: thinks that if that cold, and just so people know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: on Mount Washington in New Hampshire it was the coldest
- 2:18Speaker 1: ever registered in the United States period period. Now, I'm
- 2:22Speaker 1: not saying that's where they play a game, but I
- 2:23Speaker 1: think that they played the game there. I would I
- 2:27Speaker 1: think if that weather happened during a season, I think
- 2:30Speaker 1: they'd have to postpony move it to the next day.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I mean it was minus thirty forty degrees wind chill.
- 2:37Speaker 1: In some places, it's not football weather. I mean, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: don't know how it wouldn't have been fun. I just
- 2:41Speaker 1: don't think they would have canceled the game. Well, your camp,
- 2:43Speaker 1: your comp was the three divisional Yeah, it was like
- 2:46Speaker 1: minus ten wind chill. It was like four degrees. It
- 2:49Speaker 1: was you know, it was colder. Fred's right, it was.
- 2:51Speaker 1: It was colder Saturday. Yeah, I mean it was people's day,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but not by much. What were the guys like in
- 2:56Speaker 1: the locker round to that game? Where my favorite moment
- 2:59Speaker 1: after that game was in frederal. Remember Bethel Johnson, who's
- 3:03Speaker 1: talking about you know, I was out there, I had
- 3:05Speaker 1: no sleeves, I was tough, and he caught a big
- 3:08Speaker 1: touchdown pass in that game. So then you know, we're
- 3:11Speaker 1: like editing all the stories and everything, and Fred always
- 3:14Speaker 1: would pick out the cover photo, and the cover photo
- 3:16Speaker 1: from that was Bethel Johnson having the ball under one
- 3:20Speaker 1: arm with the other arm in the air as he's
- 3:22Speaker 1: crossing the goal line with sleeves on. He liked just
- 3:26Speaker 1: he lied to everybody. And you know who remembers specifically
- 3:30Speaker 1: fifty three players what they were wearing during the John sleeves.
- 3:35Speaker 1: That's kind of my my department. It was. It was
- 3:38Speaker 1: ridiculously cold, brutal. Yeah, well I don't know about that
- 3:43Speaker 1: it was, but it was. It was definitely colder. Said,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I'm saying, I'm saying, if it was minus forty winchi
- 3:49Speaker 1: Fred's right. I don't know if the league a liability
- 3:53Speaker 1: standpoint would be able to have the game it was,
- 3:55Speaker 1: He arguings, right, No, I just you know, people, people
- 3:59Speaker 1: get hurt, lose limbs, and you know, ironically, I don't
- 4:03Speaker 1: think they cared about the players. But if a fan
- 4:05Speaker 1: got uh you know, hypothermian dive, you know, God forbid,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the league would get sued. That's what they're worried about. Yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 1: you know, it's dedication. You know, I had texted the game,
- 4:16Speaker 1: you held the game, so I went, and now my
- 4:19Speaker 1: first my grandmother died. You know I would bring grandma
- 4:21Speaker 1: to this, Yeah, I don't. Anyway, it was cold, interesting, interesting.
- 4:26Speaker 1: They'd have a decision to make if that was you know,
- 4:28Speaker 1: that could have been a playoff game. Yeah, you know
- 4:30Speaker 1: absolutely four years earlier that would have been a playoff game. Yep.
- 4:34Speaker 1: But and then the next day it was fifty degrees.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It was the craziest thing. It was like you were
- 4:39Speaker 1: on vacation and woke up somewhere different, you know, from
- 4:43Speaker 1: the morning and you know at night, and it was
- 4:45Speaker 1: a whole different climate. Yeah. Only we didn't go anywhere, right,
- 4:49Speaker 1: it was nuts nuts say ref hockey games Friday night
- 4:52Speaker 1: and the power went out in the rink. I never
- 4:53Speaker 1: had that, had to call them. So yeah, it's unprecedented
- 4:56Speaker 1: kind of territory everywhere. And surprisingly your calls were no different.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Dark I know, right, you're blind. Rep. I did great.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Should have thrown a kid out though he kept hitting
- 5:06Speaker 1: people and I'm like, dude, you can't hit people, what
- 5:08Speaker 1: are you doing? And he just had like dead I
- 5:09Speaker 1: don't you even know, like dolls eyes? Yeah, who was
- 5:13Speaker 1: his kid? Black guy? Scared me? What else do we
- 5:16Speaker 1: have to put on the table? Oh? Bill Belichick and
- 5:19Speaker 1: Tom Brady? Yeah up last Yeah, that was on the
- 5:22Speaker 1: Let's Go for podcast, And I mean I read some
- 5:26Speaker 1: of the transcript and man, if if you think that
- 5:29Speaker 1: you know, they don't like each other, I think that
- 5:32Speaker 1: put that to joke. Oh you know what a joke?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Why'd you leave? Well, why'd you leave? Okay, if you
- 5:39Speaker 1: love him that much and he's such a good coach
- 5:43Speaker 1: and he's so why'd you leave? Honestly? Because well, you
- 5:48Speaker 1: don't think money had anything to do with it. If
- 5:51Speaker 1: it was over money, then that's that's terrible. That's what
- 5:53Speaker 1: it was. If it's over money, then that's terrible. And
- 5:57Speaker 1: will be the first person to leave because of money.
- 5:59Speaker 1: If anything, If it was over the roster, also terrible
- 6:02Speaker 1: because they can make the roster better, and we all
- 6:04Speaker 1: know they would have made the roster better. I understand that.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I think this is an absence. I think that it's
- 6:10Speaker 1: an an absence makes the heart grow fonder situation where Okay,
- 6:15Speaker 1: now we look at it, I would now look at
- 6:17Speaker 1: it three years later, and I can appreciate what we
- 6:19Speaker 1: had for twenty years, and maybe that's part of it.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But to have them both go on there, he's the greatest,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I'm the greatest, you're the greatest, We're all the great
- 6:27Speaker 1: Like come, it's a slap in the face, it is.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I didn't have that on my beingle card. Well, I mean,
- 6:31Speaker 1: that's an interesting perspective, and I can understan I've been
- 6:34Speaker 1: salty towards him since. Yeah, I can understand if you
- 6:36Speaker 1: didn't like him leaving, then I can understand that perspective.
- 6:40Speaker 1: But I and I agree with you, Evan. I think
- 6:43Speaker 1: absence does make the heart grow fonder. I think there
- 6:45Speaker 1: were moments while they were here that they hated each other,
- 6:48Speaker 1: probably right, just like I don't know why everybody always
- 6:50Speaker 1: says that, you know right, exactly like I don't know
- 6:52Speaker 1: why everybody always says because it's true. Right. If this
- 6:57Speaker 1: was all of a sudden shines and rainbows that you
- 6:58Speaker 1: guys just presented to us in that gush fest last night,
- 7:01Speaker 1: then he never would have laughed. But I think all
- 7:04Speaker 1: the bad things, like you said, melt away and you appreciate.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's like those tough coaches you had. You hated him
- 7:11Speaker 1: in the moment, and then you look back and you're like, yeah,
- 7:13Speaker 1: he was good for me, and it was a long time.
- 7:15Speaker 1: A lot of perspective, yeah, a lot of it. Maybe
- 7:18Speaker 1: the grass isn't really greener. Maybe you know, it's like
- 7:20Speaker 1: when you grow up, your parents tell you what to
- 7:22Speaker 1: do your whole life, and then now I'm at the
- 7:25Speaker 1: age where I'm my crap. Dad was right, Yeah, Mom
- 7:27Speaker 1: was right, Yeah, unfreeze your own pups. So I think
- 7:29Speaker 1: they'd both like to take the best elements of each
- 7:31Speaker 1: other and just remember that. So, but I do think
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's it was nice. I think I think I think
- 7:38Speaker 1: they meant what they said. I don't think it was bs.
- 7:41Speaker 1: They just left out all the bad stuff, that's all. Yeah.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I've always had the same thought on this. And when
- 7:47Speaker 1: he came back with the Bucks and said some of
- 7:49Speaker 1: the things he said postgame about how he wants to
- 7:51Speaker 1: be a part of the Patriots community and his post
- 7:54Speaker 1: playing career and all that kind of stuff, if he
- 7:57Speaker 1: if he backs that up with his actions and he's
- 8:00Speaker 1: year for whatever celebration we come up with or whatever
- 8:03Speaker 1: ceremony we come up with, and all these types of
- 8:06Speaker 1: different checkpoints that I know every Patriots fan wants to see.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I'm not a one day contract guy. I don't need
- 8:11Speaker 1: him to sign the one day contract, but I need
- 8:13Speaker 1: him to come back and say I know that deep down,
- 8:18Speaker 1: like I'm a Patriot, right, I'm not a Buck. I
- 8:20Speaker 1: get it. Sure. Until he does that and he's on
- 8:23Speaker 1: my this could this be the first ever Fred evan argument.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'm not arguing. Well, he disagrees with you about what
- 8:31Speaker 1: like you said, it was nice and he's disgusted by it. No,
- 8:34Speaker 1: he said he would he wants him to come back,
- 8:37Speaker 1: come back and fix it. Did you listen to what
- 8:40Speaker 1: he said? The way he saw the game was so
- 8:43Speaker 1: incredible if you want to want to do the one
- 8:46Speaker 1: day contract or not, because you said it was stupid
- 8:47Speaker 1: and now you're like, no, I want him. It's like
- 8:52Speaker 1: what you said. I don't know if it was on
- 8:54Speaker 1: the on the show before, but he's he's ours, right,
- 8:58Speaker 1: like he's he's ours, And until he acknowledges on his
- 9:02Speaker 1: side that he's ours, then I'm still salty about it. No,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I get that as a fan, I understand that I
- 9:10Speaker 1: want that too. I want I want him to want
- 9:13Speaker 1: to be with us exactly. You just want me. Yeah. No,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I don't need him to contract. That's symbolic. You don't
- 9:22Speaker 1: need that. I need him to come back. And personally,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I and I'm just speaking for myself, I think that
- 9:28Speaker 1: they should do a Tom Brady Night, separate from any
- 9:31Speaker 1: game or anything like that. There'll be seventy thousand people
- 9:34Speaker 1: in that stadium, just to say hi to him from
- 9:38Speaker 1: a hundred yards away. Like right, it doesn't even need
- 9:41Speaker 1: to be anything else. We have, we have the whole thing.
- 9:45Speaker 1: We'll cover the crap out of it. It will be great,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and we'll and we'll have that moment of because the
- 9:50Speaker 1: way that he left in free agency, we never even
- 9:52Speaker 1: got to say goodbye. And then he left after the
- 9:55Speaker 1: Titans game, which none of us want to remember as
- 9:58Speaker 1: that was the the last game that he's played here,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and so we never really got to have a great
- 10:05Speaker 1: moment of closure on his Funny, just for the hell
- 10:09Speaker 1: of it, he throws a pass that is caught by
- 10:12Speaker 1: a patriot at that ceremony, just so we can say
- 10:15Speaker 1: the last pass he threw him. Yeah, bring Ediman back
- 10:18Speaker 1: to him. But I agree with everything is sad. I
- 10:22Speaker 1: don't know why Paul's trying to pick a fight here.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I agree, he completely disagrees with you. I don't understand
- 10:28Speaker 1: how you can think about the same thing. He's mad
- 10:31Speaker 1: at Tom, yes, but he still wants him to come back.
- 10:34Speaker 1: But he's mad at Tom. You're not like you. Guys
- 10:37Speaker 1: have two different stuff. But I understand that perspective. I
- 10:40Speaker 1: don't need to argue with that. No, But I'm just saying,
- 10:42Speaker 1: first of all, I was only joking around about your fight.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I know, but he disagrees with you. You're not saying
- 10:46Speaker 1: the same thing, really, and I'm not telling you that
- 10:50Speaker 1: I agree with either either side. But what Evan said
- 10:53Speaker 1: and what you said, we're not the same thing. It was.
- 10:56Speaker 1: It was I was just talking about the thing he did.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You thought it was nice last night, and you thought
- 11:00Speaker 1: it was nice. He hated it. Okay, it was okay,
- 11:03Speaker 1: So you're not saying it's like a movie. I saw
- 11:06Speaker 1: a movie. I liked it. He didn't. As a fan,
- 11:10Speaker 1: the disagreement. Speaking as a fan right now, watching him
- 11:14Speaker 1: play for the Bucks was like one of the worst
- 11:16Speaker 1: experiences of them. I couldn't even watch some of the
- 11:18Speaker 1: games sometimes because I was just like, I just can't
- 11:21Speaker 1: that first year, I can't see this right now. And
- 11:24Speaker 1: then he goes on and wins the Super Bowl with Tampa,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and now you know Tampa, when he ran off the
- 11:29Speaker 1: field when they lost to Dallas, they got they all
- 11:31Speaker 1: got to wave him off the field, and here was
- 11:35Speaker 1: not that type of experience. So when when Brady left here,
- 11:38Speaker 1: like right after, who are you mad at? I was
- 11:41Speaker 1: mad at everybody I was mad at everybody for getting
- 11:45Speaker 1: to that point now in this instance, right now, and
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm not I'm mad at him for something that he
- 11:51Speaker 1: hasn't done yet necessarily, but I I had to endure.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It's so difficult for me. I had to. I as
- 12:00Speaker 1: a b I've always been ting. I've I've always been
- 12:02Speaker 1: so grateful for Tom that I was never. I never
- 12:06Speaker 1: resented him leaving. That's all I want, you know. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: never I was happy for him. I think it was
- 12:11Speaker 1: more a super Bowl. I think I thought that was
- 12:13Speaker 1: great for him. I think it was because I like it.
- 12:16Speaker 1: It's more the fact that like when he's selling like
- 12:20Speaker 1: Brady like retirement stuff now and by the way, by
- 12:25Speaker 1: the way, Comfortable Fresh produce. Yeah, there's a T shirt
- 12:30Speaker 1: that he's selling on TB twelve and the t shirt
- 12:33Speaker 1: is half Tampa half Patriots. Yeah. I hate that. And
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm like, this is just a gut punch, and this
- 12:39Speaker 1: is just a slap in the face to all the
- 12:42Speaker 1: fans don't want to either, right, Like, who wants that?
- 12:45Speaker 1: I tweeted out when you're retirednced it. I am in
- 12:49Speaker 1: this chair right now because of Tom Brady. Because I
- 12:51Speaker 1: never would have fell in love with football if it
- 12:53Speaker 1: wasn't for him, So for me, I like, he broke
- 12:56Speaker 1: my heart. Now you got to come back and and
- 12:59Speaker 1: and do some cleanup. Tom. I know, I feel like
- 13:03Speaker 1: part of for Ever and two was like I gotta
- 13:05Speaker 1: watch I gotta breakdown Cam Newton's tape. Now I gotta
- 13:07Speaker 1: go from watching Tom cam Newton. But you know, I
- 13:11Speaker 1: was thinking, you know, like what wouldn't at me? What
- 13:16Speaker 1: would Brady want? First of all, I think he's doing
- 13:18Speaker 1: all that Tampa stuff because I think he genuinely appreciated
- 13:21Speaker 1: them giving him that opportunity. You know, you want to
- 13:25Speaker 1: be where you wanted, you're you're wanted. And I think
- 13:28Speaker 1: he'll always be grateful to them for taking him on
- 13:32Speaker 1: and paying him real money and giving him the latitude
- 13:36Speaker 1: to do what he did there. I think he'll always
- 13:38Speaker 1: be grateful. And I don't think he ever wants them
- 13:41Speaker 1: to think he's gonna forget that. So that's one thing.
- 13:44Speaker 1: But then I was thinking about him, like what does
- 13:46Speaker 1: he want to do with us? And you know, the
- 13:50Speaker 1: whole one day contract and everything, and like if I'm
- 13:52Speaker 1: Tom Brady, like I could understand him saying, you know what,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I don't want to be anybody's person. I'm gonna be
- 13:59Speaker 1: Tom Brady going forward. Nope, I know, I'll just let
- 14:02Speaker 1: me finish. I'm gonna be Tom Brady going forward. And
- 14:05Speaker 1: whether it's in the Fox booth or or whatever, I do.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I want to be known as Tom Brady period, end
- 14:11Speaker 1: of story. Not Tom Brady the Patriot, Tom Brady the buccaneer,
- 14:15Speaker 1: just Tom Brady. And I can understand him like having
- 14:19Speaker 1: that strategy. I hope he doesn't, but I can understand that.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I could see from that perspective him shunning a one
- 14:25Speaker 1: day contract like and I don't think that that's a stretch,
- 14:27Speaker 1: Like I think he probably would shun Yeah, one day contract.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I just struggled to say, like, Tom, come back, We're
- 14:31Speaker 1: gonna have a big day for you, like I think
- 14:33Speaker 1: he would be. I would hope he would do that.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I would hope he would do that. Yeah. I just
- 14:37Speaker 1: think when he left, and look, at the end of
- 14:39Speaker 1: the day, his relationship with Belichick, his relationship with the
- 14:43Speaker 1: organization and the people in these walls is more important
- 14:46Speaker 1: than the fans. I personally don't think that he gave
- 14:49Speaker 1: enough credence to the fans that poured a lot of
- 14:55Speaker 1: their energy into the team for twenty years and supported
- 14:58Speaker 1: him even he was just a sixth round draft pick
- 15:02Speaker 1: out of Michigan in two thousand and one, and we
- 15:05Speaker 1: all jumped on his bandwagon then and then continued obviously
- 15:09Speaker 1: for twenty great years. I think that the coming back,
- 15:13Speaker 1: for the ceremony and things like that, that's for. That's
- 15:16Speaker 1: for us, right, Like that's for the fans. That's that's
- 15:19Speaker 1: nothing to do with how it the divorce happened with
- 15:22Speaker 1: Bill or how it happened with mister kraftl Like, that's
- 15:25Speaker 1: that's for That's for the fans that just spent every
- 15:30Speaker 1: single Sunday on their couch or in the stadium, named
- 15:34Speaker 1: their children after named their dogs, named their children. That
- 15:38Speaker 1: are all all like for for this guy. And I
- 15:42Speaker 1: don't know if the way that he left in Tampa
- 15:45Speaker 1: when he went to Tampa and then the way that
- 15:47Speaker 1: he's at times carried himself over the last couple of years,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I don't personally feel like he has given enough credence
- 15:56Speaker 1: to that, like he's given enough two fans, ye I
- 16:00Speaker 1: and I agree, And I he's got an opportunity to
- 16:03Speaker 1: to write that ship and to do it when his
- 16:07Speaker 1: retirement last year. I wasn't. I didn't care that he
- 16:11Speaker 1: didn't mention the Patriots because of Belichick and mister Kraft.
- 16:15Speaker 1: He should have mentioned the Patriots because of the fans.
- 16:18Speaker 1: He should have mentioned the pain that his Patriot career
- 16:21Speaker 1: because of of us, because because ultimately that that was
- 16:26Speaker 1: all that we were looking for. I don't need him
- 16:28Speaker 1: to go on, let's go with Bill Belichick and gosh
- 16:31Speaker 1: about how great Bill is. Like, I don't care, but
- 16:34Speaker 1: how did you feel about him in twenty nineteen though,
- 16:35Speaker 1: because it kind of felt like he was like were
- 16:37Speaker 1: you starting to get mad at on that season? Because
- 16:39Speaker 1: it felt like he was like, oh yeah, but you
- 16:42Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like like two thousand and four,
- 16:44Speaker 1: I wasn't. When he walked off the field against the Titans,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I think we all kind of knew it was clearly
- 16:49Speaker 1: the last day. I mean, that wasna I made. It
- 16:52Speaker 1: wasn't a moment I made. Go to that game. I said,
- 16:54Speaker 1: this is the last game he's gonna play for as
- 16:56Speaker 1: a Patriot. I want you guys to be there that
- 16:59Speaker 1: they got me. Unfortunately it didn't end the way. I mean,
- 17:03Speaker 1: I don't think any any of us really came that
- 17:05Speaker 1: night expecting Tennessee to win that game. I certainly didn't.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I thought there was a chance, but I didn't think
- 17:10Speaker 1: it would happen. Right. I wanted them to see his
- 17:14Speaker 1: last game at Gillette. Yeah, well, at in twenty nineteen.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I understood his frustrations because I was watching the same
- 17:22Speaker 1: film he was watching. Not in the same level, but
- 17:25Speaker 1: I was watching the same stuff that he was watching,
- 17:27Speaker 1: and they were clearly not a super Bowl team that year.
- 17:30Speaker 1: They clearly had way too many deficiencies, especially on offense,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and then the defense ended up not being for real either,
- 17:36Speaker 1: so the team wasn't good enough. So I understood why
- 17:39Speaker 1: in his eyes, I know what it looks like to
- 17:42Speaker 1: be a super Bowl team and we're nowhere close to it.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So I could tell that that frustration was brewing. But
- 17:49Speaker 1: now that it's all over all, I just think that
- 17:52Speaker 1: last night the podcast annoyed me because I don't need
- 17:56Speaker 1: Bill and Brady to be friends. I don't care if
- 17:59Speaker 1: they make up. I don't care if they're best of friends.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I don't care if they love each other. I don't
- 18:03Speaker 1: care if they have admiration for each other. It's it
- 18:06Speaker 1: doesn't even matter at this point. What matters is what
- 18:09Speaker 1: happens with the fans from this point. Yeah, I mean
- 18:12Speaker 1: to me it matters a little bit more obviously than
- 18:15Speaker 1: you because it just to me it speaks to his mindset.
- 18:17Speaker 1: So like if if he hate, if he truly hates Belichick,
- 18:21Speaker 1: there's less chance of him doing anything while Belichick is here,
- 18:24Speaker 1: you know. So it's it makes me feel better to
- 18:27Speaker 1: know that, you know, bygones have been are bygones with them,
- 18:30Speaker 1: and the same with Robert Kraft if there were any,
- 18:33Speaker 1: And then that opens the door to what we really want,
- 18:37Speaker 1: is an ability for us to be with him, you know,
- 18:42Speaker 1: because you kind of those two guys are the gatekeepers
- 18:44Speaker 1: really yea, yeah, you know. Yeah, so Paul's just smirking.
- 18:49Speaker 1: He doesn't care about it. I'm just proud. Yeah, you
- 18:53Speaker 1: wanted to be in denial, but I got you guys
- 18:55Speaker 1: to hear your grievances. That was good, Like that was good. Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I don't know. If have brievances, just take the dove
- 19:01Speaker 1: on me. Yeah I have. I am let him go.
- 19:04Speaker 1: He's angry, have been since? Are you angry with me? No? No? No, no, okay,
- 19:09Speaker 1: so what so what do we he's angry, He's not
- 19:11Speaker 1: angry with me. People helpe me and explain to Fred
- 19:17Speaker 1: that his mindset is one different than Dan Evans, or
- 19:23Speaker 1: is it. I think you guys are agreeing and disagreeing.
- 19:25Speaker 1: That's well, that's the essence. That's when he made that
- 19:29Speaker 1: announcement last year and left the Patriots out of it.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That was it for me. I was like, I don't
- 19:35Speaker 1: need you to thank and you would kissing. I don't
- 19:36Speaker 1: think you don't need to thank Belichick. You don't need
- 19:39Speaker 1: to thank mister Kraft, thank the thank us, like thank
- 19:43Speaker 1: the fans. They don't even thank us. You don't even
- 19:45Speaker 1: have to thank us. We have to thank you, but like,
- 19:47Speaker 1: just acknowledge that the Patriot fans. Yeah, and he totally
- 19:53Speaker 1: dropped the ball on that, and then he kind of
- 19:55Speaker 1: dropped the ball again on the on all of this too.
- 19:57Speaker 1: And now I just I have no time for it.
- 20:00Speaker 1: He can come back and make it up to me though, Okay,
- 20:02Speaker 1: all right, wow, so Evanden's leaving the door open. Yes, yes, yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 1: he won't object. It won't object. I did watch for
- 20:12Speaker 1: the first time since I was actually at the event
- 20:15Speaker 1: that the Brady Night yesterday. It was nineteen ninety not
- 20:18Speaker 1: Brady Bird Larry Bird Knight nineteen ninety three, and you know,
- 20:24Speaker 1: going back, like you know, sometimes when you're watching old movie,
- 20:27Speaker 1: it doesn't really hold up with time it was. It
- 20:29Speaker 1: was had that old timey feeling to it, so you know,
- 20:33Speaker 1: but it was still major tingle, like you know, having
- 20:37Speaker 1: lived through all that, it was a great night. They
- 20:40Speaker 1: did it right, and I hope that the Patriots are
- 20:43Speaker 1: able to do something like that for for that's what
- 20:46Speaker 1: I mean, that's what we'll look for, Brady, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 1: and anything you clocked though this time, well, I don't
- 20:52Speaker 1: know if they'd be able to do it exactly like,
- 20:53Speaker 1: but what they did for you know, he Bird won
- 20:56Speaker 1: three championships with the Celtics, so they went through time
- 21:00Speaker 1: time and they had little video that they had accompanying
- 21:03Speaker 1: each championship, and after each video, they brought members of
- 21:08Speaker 1: that team onto the stage. So they showed the video
- 21:11Speaker 1: of the year. Then they brought the players on to
- 21:14Speaker 1: talk about that version, you know, that edition of the Celtics,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and that was cool. And then of course you know,
- 21:20Speaker 1: bringing back Magic Johnson that was a big portion of that.
- 21:23Speaker 1: And you know, I don't you know, like I knew
- 21:25Speaker 1: people at the time knew that they were friends, but
- 21:29Speaker 1: I don't think people realize how close they really were.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You know, they were really close, and so that was
- 21:36Speaker 1: a big portion of the night. And like people just
- 21:38Speaker 1: went nuts. They just went nuts. You know. That was great.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And then you know read r back coming up his mother,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know, she got like a three minute standing ovation
- 21:49Speaker 1: like thank you for bringing him into the world, and
- 21:51Speaker 1: everybody was just like going nuts for his mother. Yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 1: you know, and uh, you know, then they had the
- 21:57Speaker 1: video people you know, people that couldn't be there on video,
- 22:00Speaker 1: and it was just it was just awesome. What if
- 22:03Speaker 1: they did holograms? Like, I know, it's time we talk
- 22:05Speaker 1: about this, we get new ideas. But like and I
- 22:06Speaker 1: had said, like what if you put videos to the place,
- 22:08Speaker 1: Like what if you could actually get a company that
- 22:09Speaker 1: could do holograms on the field of plays and so
- 22:12Speaker 1: you could actually make it appear like all on the table.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I thought the Tom Brady Knight's Ba's been crushing it.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I mean he's I mean, I just think that you
- 22:22Speaker 1: have to do the Fred and I have been lockstep
- 22:25Speaker 1: on this since the day, like the moment he retired,
- 22:27Speaker 1: Like I went right up to Fred and we were
- 22:30Speaker 1: trying to figure out exactly what we were going to
- 22:32Speaker 1: do from a content standpoint that day, but we immediately
- 22:35Speaker 1: started talking about Larry Bird Knight. Yeah, and we're not
- 22:38Speaker 1: splitting the Adam. We're not the first ones that came
- 22:40Speaker 1: up with we should probably do something like I'm not
- 22:42Speaker 1: trying to make it out to me like that, but
- 22:44Speaker 1: it is just this is different than the other guys
- 22:49Speaker 1: that are going in your team's hall of fame and
- 22:51Speaker 1: eventually Canton, Like I understand that Canton can't waive the
- 22:55Speaker 1: five year period, but we can wave the four year period.
- 22:58Speaker 1: And this is not something that we're doing at the
- 23:01Speaker 1: half time of the Kansas City Chiefs game the way
- 23:03Speaker 1: a lot of people on Twitter have suggested. These are
- 23:06Speaker 1: the kinds of ideas that have to separate it. Now.
- 23:09Speaker 1: It's all contingent and this gets back to Evans bitterness.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It's all contingent on Tom agreeing to come back and
- 23:15Speaker 1: do it. I can't imagine he wouldn't. I think Larry Bird,
- 23:19Speaker 1: in a lot of ways was extremely similar to Tom
- 23:22Speaker 1: Brady in that regard and not really interested in doing
- 23:24Speaker 1: any of those things. But he did it, and I
- 23:26Speaker 1: think that I think that Tom would too, and the
- 23:28Speaker 1: other thing that stuck out of a Bird night to me,
- 23:30Speaker 1: and I didn't realize it at the time, but after
- 23:33Speaker 1: watching it, it was apparent Bird prepared for this, Like
- 23:37Speaker 1: not that he was reading off a teleprompter, but there
- 23:40Speaker 1: were certain questions that Bob cost Has asked them that
- 23:42Speaker 1: he had wood he answers for, and it was obvious
- 23:46Speaker 1: that they weren't made up in the moment like he had.
- 23:48Speaker 1: So we won't get Jim Gray like he was given
- 23:53Speaker 1: the questions and helped with answers and he delivered them naturally, right,
- 23:58Speaker 1: But that's why we need to eliminate Jim Gray from
- 24:00Speaker 1: But but you know, Larry doesn't want that. Larry was
- 24:05Speaker 1: a time unassuming guy. He wasn't a guy that you know,
- 24:07Speaker 1: was a me guy. But like this was a special
- 24:11Speaker 1: night for him and he put in time to prepare
- 24:13Speaker 1: for it. That that kind of stood out any research
- 24:15Speaker 1: into other what like what do the Lakers do for Kobe?
- 24:18Speaker 1: You know, like like or what did the Bulls do
- 24:19Speaker 1: for Jordan? Just do what did other Alex your basketball person?
- 24:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I remember Kobe's last game and just
- 24:29Speaker 1: scoring a crazy amount of points. But for some reason,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I'm struggling to kind of remember anything, like, I mean,
- 24:35Speaker 1: I should probably know because I lived out there probably
- 24:37Speaker 1: at the time. Yeah, I think they had him addressing
- 24:39Speaker 1: the crowd and stuff. I don't really remember what. I
- 24:43Speaker 1: don't know what the bulls did George Jordan, I mean,
- 24:46Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe we should google. I don't know,
- 24:47Speaker 1: google it. Google it. So along with the ceremony, you
- 24:50Speaker 1: gotta have a statue I think, right, and you in
- 24:54Speaker 1: the plaza, right, and a number twelve inside the bowls
- 24:57Speaker 1: somewhere right, I would say, with the with the banners
- 24:59Speaker 1: so at you outside, how we talked it all about
- 25:04Speaker 1: what what pose he's gonna be in or anything like that,
- 25:07Speaker 1: because I love the one with his hands on his
- 25:09Speaker 1: head from two thousand and one, Like that's personally my
- 25:11Speaker 1: my favorite. But I don't know that that's very young
- 25:14Speaker 1: Tom Brady. I don't know if he would want one differently.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I like that one too, Yeah, I like that or
- 25:21Speaker 1: the other one. It might have been fourteen when he's
- 25:24Speaker 1: holding up the trophy and he's like that was special
- 25:27Speaker 1: to him because of all the crap that he went through.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So no one just wants him with that classic sitting
- 25:32Speaker 1: in the pocket with the ball just perfect, like he
- 25:36Speaker 1: had the statuesque pose on the field. Why not I
- 25:40Speaker 1: like that just duplicated. I don't know, but that's something
- 25:42Speaker 1: that every quarterback does, Like holding holding that trophy is iconic. Yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 1: that's the picture I think of him holding the Lombardi
- 25:50Speaker 1: or the hands on the air. That's iconic to him. Yeah,
- 25:54Speaker 1: shaking his head with his sisters. I I mean, I
- 25:56Speaker 1: don't think we're going in the direction of a Belichick
- 25:58Speaker 1: and Brady. I was like at them, But there's a
- 26:01Speaker 1: great shot of them right after the O six San
- 26:03Speaker 1: Diego upset out there that like they just kind of
- 26:06Speaker 1: met on the field and it was kind of like
- 26:07Speaker 1: a quick like can shake between the two of them.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Is that exists out there? One of my favorite kind
- 26:13Speaker 1: of shots of them, you know, and another one of
- 26:15Speaker 1: their iconic wins. But I don't know. I guess Tom
- 26:17Speaker 1: will probably get the first bust out there. You know,
- 26:20Speaker 1: when you think of statues, like I think of you know,
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yankee Stadium where they had Monument Park or whatever they
- 26:28Speaker 1: called it back there. Um, you know, I think that's
- 26:35Speaker 1: the iconic. Yeah, we were just in Jim Brown statue
- 26:39Speaker 1: is right outside Paul Brown or an Indy. They have
- 26:42Speaker 1: a Peyton Manning statue outside Lucas and they have a
- 26:44Speaker 1: bunch of statues now behind Fenway Park. Uh oh, I
- 26:48Speaker 1: didn't know that. Yeah, it's like kind of like a
- 26:50Speaker 1: kind of a weird place to put him in. It
- 26:52Speaker 1: faces like the train tracks, Like well, yeah, it's a dump. Yeah. Um,
- 26:58Speaker 1: you know I actually walked by them like a couple
- 27:00Speaker 1: of years ago, Like I didn't even know these right here?
- 27:02Speaker 1: Who do they? What is it? Like? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:05Speaker 1: it's all the retired number players. Yeah, so I don't
- 27:08Speaker 1: think they should have done that something Teddy Yeah. Um,
- 27:11Speaker 1: but you know, do you do you do? Do you
- 27:15Speaker 1: have the foresight to put the Brady statue where you
- 27:18Speaker 1: will put the Belichick statue and the Craft statue and
- 27:21Speaker 1: create your own little monument. I think it makes sense
- 27:23Speaker 1: to at least think of it ahead of time, even
- 27:25Speaker 1: if they're not going to be the same statues to
- 27:27Speaker 1: how are we going to arrange this and who is
- 27:29Speaker 1: actually going to get I mean you mentioned mister Kraft
- 27:32Speaker 1: getting a statue, Sure you know, plan for three then?
- 27:35Speaker 1: And how will they kind of maybe they're all made
- 27:36Speaker 1: by the same artist, Maybe they're you know, and maybe
- 27:39Speaker 1: maybe you have fans vote on moments like you know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: this this picture of a bit like what should be
- 27:44Speaker 1: the you know, what should be the time. I'd love
- 27:45Speaker 1: to hear what the fans say. I mean, that's just
- 27:47Speaker 1: you know Paul's point about just perfect in the pocket,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you know, having his hands on his heads to his
- 27:52Speaker 1: family after we won the first Super Bowl. I mean,
- 27:53Speaker 1: there's so many moments that that that you were probably
- 27:56Speaker 1: not even thinking of that that could potentially work. Yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 1: so that's the Brady stuff. Maybe we can get that
- 28:02Speaker 1: guy that did the MLK tribute, No, I can get
- 28:07Speaker 1: somebody embrace. What about the Christiano Ronaldo? So I don't know,
- 28:11Speaker 1: but after that, after that, I was scared after that
- 28:14Speaker 1: Brady post for his underwek maybe he'd like that kind
- 28:17Speaker 1: of all. We could do the guy remember remember the
- 28:20Speaker 1: court sketch of Brady. Yeah, hearing, maybe we can get
- 28:23Speaker 1: that guy. Somebody said that that's what the statue should
- 28:25Speaker 1: look like. That looked nothing because his last year he
- 28:30Speaker 1: looked more like that. Yeah, you know, yeah, I like it.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Good times all right. Yeah, so there's a lot to
- 28:36Speaker 1: think about when it comes to Brady time before Can
- 28:39Speaker 1: we move on a little because I'm curious to get
- 28:41Speaker 1: some of Evan's thoughts on you know, we talked last
- 28:44Speaker 1: week about the coaches being in Vegas at the Shrine
- 28:47Speaker 1: Bowl and uh, you know, Troy Brown was the acting
- 28:50Speaker 1: head coach, but just your overall thoughts on the Patriots
- 28:54Speaker 1: coaching staff of being in Vegas and you know what
- 28:56Speaker 1: that experience was like, Well, it was really cool. I
- 28:59Speaker 1: had never been to the Senior Bowl or the Shrine
- 29:01Speaker 1: Bowl or anything like that, and I think the coolest
- 29:04Speaker 1: part for me is that, unlike in training camp, here
- 29:07Speaker 1: you can stand right on the sideline and you're just
- 29:12Speaker 1: standing right on the sideline and you know, I was
- 29:15Speaker 1: watching practice at one point in Macro and Elliott Wolf
- 29:18Speaker 1: and they're They're all just standing ten yards away from
- 29:21Speaker 1: me watching the same thing that I'm watching, which was
- 29:24Speaker 1: really cool. I don't think you ever really get to
- 29:26Speaker 1: to interact or even you know, in the same area
- 29:29Speaker 1: as Macro most of the time the way they handle him,
- 29:32Speaker 1: So it's it's cool to that was a cool experience.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I think the biggest standout from the coaching staff was well,
- 29:38Speaker 1: first of all, the Shrine Bowl wanted the Patriots to
- 29:41Speaker 1: coach this game badly, when they decided to go full
- 29:44Speaker 1: staffs because of Bill. They wanted they wanted that publicity
- 29:48Speaker 1: of having Bill out there, and he didn't disappoint. I mean,
- 29:50Speaker 1: he would just he would just walk right on the
- 29:54Speaker 1: field and just interject himself into the drill, like the
- 29:57Speaker 1: drill would be going on and you know, they would
- 30:00Speaker 1: be doing whatever, and he would just walk on the
- 30:03Speaker 1: field and he would just be like this is we're
- 30:06Speaker 1: not doing this, like we need to do this better,
- 30:08Speaker 1: or we're doing this or we're not doing that or whatever.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And then he would watch the drill basically in the
- 30:14Speaker 1: play like he would be standing and guys would be
- 30:17Speaker 1: flying basically like a referee, like doesn't you know, get
- 30:19Speaker 1: out of the way type of thing, which was really cool.
- 30:22Speaker 1: The other thing that I would mention was the very
- 30:24Speaker 1: first day it felt on purpose how involved Bill O'Brien was.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Like he came out there that first day and he
- 30:34Speaker 1: was right out in everybody's faces, coaching up the quarterbacks
- 30:38Speaker 1: and the receivers, barking out orders, barking out coaching tips
- 30:42Speaker 1: and things like that. And you know, we took the cheese,
- 30:45Speaker 1: we took the bay. We're like this is great, Like
- 30:46Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien's back. This is cool, and he was the
- 30:49Speaker 1: right front and center. Now he didn't come out for
- 30:52Speaker 1: the rest of the practices, but that very first practice,
- 30:55Speaker 1: it was it was the Bill and Bill show, like
- 30:57Speaker 1: the two of them. Just watching them were and how
- 31:00Speaker 1: involved they were was was pretty cool. And we should
- 31:03Speaker 1: add that there have been I think since the last
- 31:06Speaker 1: time on Thursday, two additions to the coaching staff. Right,
- 31:09Speaker 1: we didn't have that Will Will Longing. He wasn't well,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I don't think anything, No, not officially. Um. So he's
- 31:18Speaker 1: a guy that had spent time with with Bill O'Brien
- 31:21Speaker 1: and had been a tight Ends coach. And since Nick
- 31:24Speaker 1: Kyley has officially left, Yeah he's going. He took the
- 31:27Speaker 1: same job with the Rams, So I think it's probably
- 31:30Speaker 1: safe to assume that Will Lawing will is it Longing? That, Um,
- 31:34Speaker 1: he will be probably the tight Ends coach. And then
- 31:37Speaker 1: reports yesterday indicate that Adrian Clem in fact will be
- 31:41Speaker 1: the offensive line like they're talking to him Adrian Clem.
- 31:44Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean O'Brien's filling out his staff. Um,
- 31:48Speaker 1: you know, no word about wide receivers. So we can
- 31:50Speaker 1: only assume that Troy Brown will stay as the wide
- 31:52Speaker 1: receiver coach. Um. Yeah, And there was also Karen's report
- 31:57Speaker 1: that Gerardmeo might not necessarily have a That one was
- 32:01Speaker 1: I think you did read on off the tweet while
- 32:05Speaker 1: we were Yeah, I think you you updated us with you,
- 32:09Speaker 1: you know, And I was thinking about that one, and
- 32:11Speaker 1: people just said, well, why aren't they giving him a title?
- 32:13Speaker 1: Wouldn't he ask for a type? Maybe he doesn't want
- 32:15Speaker 1: a title because that gives him unfettered ability to you know, um,
- 32:20Speaker 1: interview for any job, right, whether it's a a DC
- 32:24Speaker 1: or whatever. If he doesn't have a title, he can
- 32:27Speaker 1: leave at any time for any job, and an assistant
- 32:29Speaker 1: head coach title doesn't matter, right, Like it's it's like
- 32:33Speaker 1: that doesn't qualify. It's if you're an offensive coordinat or
- 32:35Speaker 1: defensive coordina or head coach. Those are the three, right
- 32:37Speaker 1: the count in terms of if you're going to go
- 32:38Speaker 1: somewhere else an interview for another job, what you're able
- 32:41Speaker 1: to do. Yeah, So let's not assume that it wasn't
- 32:44Speaker 1: Gerard Mayo's choice to not have a title. I would
- 32:47Speaker 1: I would assume it wasn't that. But yeah, you're right,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I don't know, Yeah, I mean, I don't know. Like
- 32:52Speaker 1: we spent like the better part of the last couple
- 32:54Speaker 1: of years when Girard Mayo's name has been bandied about
- 32:56Speaker 1: for potential head coaching opportunities, and we've asked a question, so,
- 33:01Speaker 1: what is exactly is it that you do? Right, And
- 33:03Speaker 1: now he's the one who didn't want to clarify that
- 33:06Speaker 1: he was responsible for doing anything like I don't think
- 33:10Speaker 1: that's realistic. I think more than likely for whatever reason
- 33:14Speaker 1: they're setting it up the way they're going to set
- 33:15Speaker 1: it up. I don't think it's because Gerard Mayo said no,
- 33:18Speaker 1: no, no no, no, I don't want to be the defensive
- 33:20Speaker 1: coordinator or I don't want to be the assistant head coach.
- 33:22Speaker 1: If that in fact is true, we'll see. We haven't
- 33:25Speaker 1: seen that. The new titles. Maybe he is going to
- 33:27Speaker 1: have a different title than what is inside linebackers coach, right,
- 33:31Speaker 1: maybe he will have a different title than he did
- 33:33Speaker 1: last year. We haven't we haven't seen any of that
- 33:35Speaker 1: information yet officially. Yea, so things are kind of rounding
- 33:39Speaker 1: out in the coaching staff. Who's going to be the
- 33:42Speaker 1: running backs coach? He'll continue doing that, Okay, actually did
- 33:46Speaker 1: a pretty good job of the offensive lineman at the
- 33:48Speaker 1: Shrine Bowl. That so some of the people that I
- 33:50Speaker 1: was talking to you out there, that wasn't exactly the
- 33:53Speaker 1: most talented group of offensive linemen on the West team,
- 33:56Speaker 1: and they ended up actually doing a pretty good job
- 33:58Speaker 1: in practice in the game. What was Russ Douglas's role
- 34:02Speaker 1: offensive coordinator? Okay, yeah, yep, him and and I thought
- 34:08Speaker 1: we did a lot of that the sound that we
- 34:10Speaker 1: got from you know, wiring them up and stuff like that.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I thought some of the videos that came out about
- 34:14Speaker 1: him and that actually came out about Brian Belichick made
- 34:17Speaker 1: made those two guys look pretty dark and good at
- 34:20Speaker 1: what they do. And I think there's a lot of questions,
- 34:22Speaker 1: especially with with Brian, about you know, his coaching acumen
- 34:26Speaker 1: and uh, you know, what his role is on the staff.
- 34:29Speaker 1: And I think that he came off pretty pretty good
- 34:31Speaker 1: to the people that I spoke with, you know, the
- 34:33Speaker 1: players and things like that that I spoke with. Pellegrino
- 34:36Speaker 1: had a pretty good week too, I mean, his defense
- 34:37Speaker 1: did pretty well in the game and stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 1: the West team one the Patriots one. Patriots they did
- 34:44Speaker 1: and uh, they we can get into the prospects. I'm
- 34:47Speaker 1: sure that we will for matter for months and months.
- 34:49Speaker 1: But the star of the game was the kicker, Jake
- 34:52Speaker 1: Moody from Michigan, who was who was the kicker of
- 34:58Speaker 1: the year in college football in twenty twenty one, and
- 35:04Speaker 1: he made two fifty one yard field goals in the game,
- 35:07Speaker 1: kicked off, had a couple of touchbacks. He is the
- 35:09Speaker 1: real deal. He's going to be drafted. He's probably gonna
- 35:12Speaker 1: be the top kicker drafted. And after the show that
- 35:15Speaker 1: he put on all week in Vegas, it wouldn't shock me, okay,
- 35:20Speaker 1: all right? And then Pro Bowl we have a lot
- 35:23Speaker 1: of content up there on our various accounts with Matt
- 35:27Speaker 1: Judon miked up. He actually had the camera strapped to
- 35:32Speaker 1: his chest so running around. But it was the Matt
- 35:35Speaker 1: Judon show for the Patriots out in the Pro Bowl. Yeah,
- 35:38Speaker 1: I didn't got I didn't watch a second. I'm sorry,
- 35:42Speaker 1: I really didn't. You didn't watch a second. Not a second.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I watched enough flag football game to see Tyreek Hill
- 35:49Speaker 1: get laid out by Jalen Ramsey. That was about it. Though.
- 35:52Speaker 1: This is the portion of the show where I figured
- 35:53Speaker 1: you were gonna finger wagged me. If you're not having
- 35:55Speaker 1: seen the second of any of the pro longest drive. No,
- 35:59Speaker 1: but I did you know what I did notice, which
- 36:01Speaker 1: I thought was highly comical. So they had the flag
- 36:03Speaker 1: football game on Sunday. Yeah, do you know that you
- 36:07Speaker 1: know the stats service NFL? Jesus, do you know they
- 36:11Speaker 1: fashioned a complete gamebook for the for the flag football
- 36:13Speaker 1: that right? Oh? Yeah. I had to go look at
- 36:15Speaker 1: it when he told me that, and I said, You're
- 36:16Speaker 1: not gonna believe this. Like I was on I was,
- 36:19Speaker 1: I was categories Ficus. I was on the site like
- 36:24Speaker 1: looking up some stats and stuff because I was doing
- 36:28Speaker 1: NFL awards, And I looked at the game book and
- 36:32Speaker 1: I was like, no, you can't really be a game book, right,
- 36:36Speaker 1: So I click on it. Sure enough starters. More importantly,
- 36:40Speaker 1: Paul was there a line? Was there betting I'm not aware?
- 36:45Speaker 1: I'm with you, Freddy? I, Uh, this was on my
- 36:48Speaker 1: pay no mind list. I didn't see any of it. Yeah.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I turned it on briefly, and uh, I can't remember
- 36:54Speaker 1: the rap duo's name that was like popular like three
- 36:58Speaker 1: years ago. That was maybe ox heal you out? That
- 37:00Speaker 1: was oh Man, I'll remember Yeah's two guys. I turned
- 37:07Speaker 1: it and I turned definitely not me I turned it on. No, no,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I'll look it up in a second. I turned it
- 37:16Speaker 1: on and I was like, first of all, these guys
- 37:18Speaker 1: aren't even like this isn't this isn't relevant right now,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and like we're three years behind. And second of all,
- 37:24Speaker 1: like they're showing like all the players and like you know,
- 37:26Speaker 1: they're kind of like trying to like, you know, dance
- 37:29Speaker 1: a little not like dance dance, but they're like watching
- 37:31Speaker 1: the concert as it's going on. And that was the
- 37:33Speaker 1: whole thing, is oh, watch Trevor Lawrence like you know,
- 37:36Speaker 1: break it down or whatever. And I was just like,
- 37:38Speaker 1: this is just terrible. I couldn't playdn't play. Wheezy would
- 37:45Speaker 1: have shut the place. Yeah, that's yeah. He seems like
- 37:47Speaker 1: he's got real star power still right. Oh yeah, he's
- 37:50Speaker 1: touring again. I'm trying to go. I'm going I'm trying
- 37:52Speaker 1: to go to the garden Um, trying to trying. All right,
- 37:59Speaker 1: next stup for us will be the Combine. Yeah, start
- 38:02Speaker 1: preparing for that. Let's go. Yeah, excited to get back,
- 38:05Speaker 1: all right? Soight five five past five hundred is the
- 38:08Speaker 1: ACE ticket hot line. Web radio at Patriots dot com
- 38:11Speaker 1: is the email address. There is one email I wanted
- 38:14Speaker 1: to get to. This is from somebody. His name is
- 38:17Speaker 1: Laboreo and he says he's done with us. Oh yeah,
- 38:21Speaker 1: I love these. Listen to your podcast from January twelve.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Besides five of you cons talking at once, I believe
- 38:29Speaker 1: fred mentioned he was upset about people being mean to
- 38:31Speaker 1: poor Matt Patricia. Ooh, he took a job and did
- 38:34Speaker 1: it to the best of his abilities. I'm so done
- 38:37Speaker 1: with you guys. You have condescending perillo. You constantly take
- 38:40Speaker 1: a stance different than everyone else. You put fans down
- 38:43Speaker 1: like their uneducated morons. No, fred No, Freddy took it
- 38:47Speaker 1: because he's so cocky. He thought he could do it
- 38:50Speaker 1: and be the old line coach. I guess you've never
- 38:52Speaker 1: heard recordings of how Patricia and Judge spoke to players.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I guess you've never seen tweets from Detroit players at
- 38:59Speaker 1: the Patricia was five. He's not a nice guy. He's
- 39:02Speaker 1: not a players coach. So next time you want to
- 39:04Speaker 1: rip everyone for ripping and know it all jerk, do
- 39:06Speaker 1: your homework done with your show. And I know a
- 39:09Speaker 1: lot of other people aren't happy. Thank God for Baard,
- 39:12Speaker 1: Felger and Murray, who actually do research. Before opening their mouth.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Somewhere Felger and Murray are laughing their ass off notion
- 39:22Speaker 1: of them doing Yeah, I just thought, I just thought
- 39:26Speaker 1: I got that one out there. I find that. I
- 39:31Speaker 1: find that really funny that that, of all people, Fred
- 39:35Speaker 1: is the one that pushed someone over the edge. Like
- 39:38Speaker 1: everything he said about me is probably largely and I'm
- 39:41Speaker 1: not being self deprecant, it's largely true. Like I do
- 39:44Speaker 1: come off as condescending and I don't really have much
- 39:48Speaker 1: use for most of the fans like thoughts. But Fred
- 39:53Speaker 1: Fred had one thing to say, trying to defend manetricia,
- 39:55Speaker 1: and that's what puts you over the edge. That was it? Yeah,
- 39:58Speaker 1: that was I uh. And Kamani writes in about Michael
- 40:03Speaker 1: Jordan's he says it was total bs their retirement ceremony.
- 40:07Speaker 1: They brought out a bunch of celebrities and actors to
- 40:09Speaker 1: pay tribute to him. It was the exact opposite of
- 40:12Speaker 1: Larry Birds. So I don't remember it. I would rather yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 1: I would rather not get into that, Like do you
- 40:21Speaker 1: remember was it after the Atlanta one? No? Which which
- 40:25Speaker 1: one was it? That? Like he's looking at him as like, uh,
- 40:29Speaker 1: maybe it was the Maybe it was the Rams Super Bowl,
- 40:32Speaker 1: and like Wahlberg is stuck at Brady, like not the
- 40:36Speaker 1: one he left. He's a little kid, you know, It's like,
- 40:38Speaker 1: you know, no, that was the best. No, yeah, the best.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Like I would rather do without that kind of fan
- 40:44Speaker 1: boy fawning. I'd rather have the the players that he
- 40:49Speaker 1: played with and against and and when I say against,
- 40:52Speaker 1: I'm not just talking about anybody. I'm talking about like Peyton,
- 40:55Speaker 1: Peyton Manning, Ray Lewis you know any read Charles Woodson, Christs.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Could we get Chris Evans as Captain America to kick
- 41:04Speaker 1: it off? Brady has a bigger name than all of
- 41:06Speaker 1: them right at this point. But do we really want
- 41:08Speaker 1: to hear from Matt Damon? That's what I'm saying. I
- 41:11Speaker 1: have no personally, I have no interesting Well maybe if
- 41:17Speaker 1: I can't get it with Chris Evans, we're not getting her.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, no, Chris Evans, you got me. I just
- 41:20Speaker 1: think Tom's the bigger name. So it would just feel
- 41:23Speaker 1: like the fact that they did that for Jordan is
- 41:25Speaker 1: so strange too. That's what he ran in though. Those
- 41:27Speaker 1: are the circles, you know, the Arcineo Hall and the
- 41:30Speaker 1: Amadra Shard and all those like Hollywood, like fringe Hollywood types.
- 41:36Speaker 1: That's where that's where he was. All the people that
- 41:37Speaker 1: heo's money to golf probably probably right, Fred Neil and
- 41:42Speaker 1: new Brunswick. Evan. He says life is too short. I
- 41:46Speaker 1: listened to the podcast this is talking about Belichick and Brady.
- 41:49Speaker 1: I thought it was really good. And to Fred's point,
- 41:51Speaker 1: it was good about good memories. Only we've all quit
- 41:54Speaker 1: a job for certain reasons, probably negative ones. We might
- 41:56Speaker 1: go back and visit and play nice. It doesn't mean
- 41:59Speaker 1: I'm going to my old job back. Take Evan, take
- 42:02Speaker 1: a walk over to the trophy case. Look at the
- 42:04Speaker 1: six Lombardies. That's what Brady gave you. He owes us nothing.
- 42:08Speaker 1: If he shows up for Tom Brady Appreciation Night, great,
- 42:11Speaker 1: If he doesn't, great if he doesn't, that's your opinion.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I mean, if he doesn't, it's probably not going to
- 42:17Speaker 1: be a tombration. Would be like one of those Broadway
- 42:19Speaker 1: shows playing the role of Tom Brady tonight. We'll get you.
- 42:25Speaker 1: That's when you guys want him to tell me that's it,
- 42:28Speaker 1: That's what it is. Yeah, it's professional. Can't you want
- 42:31Speaker 1: can't you just fake it? Just exactly like you don't
- 42:34Speaker 1: even have to mean it deep down, like he didn't
- 42:36Speaker 1: mean happen things he said. I like that email. I like,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I like that email. That's kind of how I feel.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we don't need to not have
- 42:43Speaker 1: a Tom Brady appreciation night if he refuses to come
- 42:45Speaker 1: to it. But yeah, I kind of feel like that
- 42:48Speaker 1: with with Tom, Like I think you do two friends.
- 42:50Speaker 1: I just think it's two separate buckets, right, Like I
- 42:52Speaker 1: can be I am a mac more than appreciative of
- 42:56Speaker 1: the six Super Bowls and everything that he did as
- 42:57Speaker 1: a player here. That doesn't mean that I have to
- 42:59Speaker 1: like how it ends it or how it's gone since
- 43:02Speaker 1: since he's left. Like that, I think I want to
- 43:04Speaker 1: hear Capello right now. I'm dying. I know what he's saying.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I could just look at his face and know this
- 43:09Speaker 1: like venom spewing from everywhere. He's a walking sports radio
- 43:13Speaker 1: show on the road. All right, not a good look.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Five five hut line. Let's go to Patty and agawam.
- 43:23Speaker 1: What's up? Patty? Hey? Everyone, Hey, hey, I wonder if
- 43:29Speaker 1: I get a non sequit or to a draft question.
- 43:32Speaker 1: That's all right, all right, No, that's fine, all right,
- 43:36Speaker 1: you know what I felt. No, never mind, I'm gonna
- 43:38Speaker 1: be I'm gonna be nice. God. And to the emailer
- 43:42Speaker 1: that called Paul condescending and that he hates the fans,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I'm hoping this question might kind of make your head explode. Paul. Okay,
- 43:49Speaker 1: I know you love Draft and I know you love
- 43:51Speaker 1: O line talk. So um, just a quick scenario and
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'll give my reasonings behind the scenario. With two, are
- 43:58Speaker 1: the top three tackles are off board when the Texans
- 44:01Speaker 1: pick at number twelve? Did you see them possibly trading
- 44:05Speaker 1: up for one of the top three left tackles? Because
- 44:07Speaker 1: I think if if two of the guys are gone,
- 44:10Speaker 1: I think that Jets, You're gonna have to leak front
- 44:13Speaker 1: the Jets because I see them wanting to take a
- 44:15Speaker 1: tackle this here. Can I tee you up? Evan, I'm
- 44:18Speaker 1: gonna TV. I'm gonna tvn up because I feel like,
- 44:21Speaker 1: personally my film with the Draft is those three tackles
- 44:24Speaker 1: with with Broderick Jones, Paris Johnson and Scronsky and those
- 44:28Speaker 1: three guys western as I call, are left tackles. You know,
- 44:31Speaker 1: I mean, I think there are some questions about Scronsky,
- 44:33Speaker 1: but I think it's a great question which one of
- 44:35Speaker 1: those three is going to be there, because I don't
- 44:37Speaker 1: know right now if there's a wide receiver or cornerback
- 44:40Speaker 1: that you really say, wow, if you got him at fourteen,
- 44:42Speaker 1: you're really getting a steal. With one of those guys,
- 44:44Speaker 1: you might say we're getting a steel right at fourteen,
- 44:46Speaker 1: you know, and it's a fit. That's just my view.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I'll let definitely then I'm not as eager to trade
- 44:52Speaker 1: up for one of them because I think this is
- 44:54Speaker 1: a really good tackle class and I think in the
- 44:56Speaker 1: top fifty we're probably talking about six or seven guys
- 44:59Speaker 1: that could start in day one for you. So are
- 45:02Speaker 1: you giving up the ass? Is? I guess the better
- 45:05Speaker 1: way to put it to use names, is Scronsky so
- 45:08Speaker 1: much better than Dwan Jones from Ohio State that I'm
- 45:15Speaker 1: giving up capital to get Scronsky instead of just waiting
- 45:20Speaker 1: on Dwan Jones Right? And Dwan Jones probably be somebody
- 45:24Speaker 1: that goes early day two. So am I am I
- 45:27Speaker 1: giving up the assets to the leap froga team or
- 45:30Speaker 1: get up to twelve or whatever the case may be.
- 45:32Speaker 1: How much better is Scronsky than Dwan Jones? Darnell Right
- 45:37Speaker 1: from Tennessee. I thought I had a great Senior Bowl week.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Jalen Duncans from Maryland's another guy that people really like.
- 45:44Speaker 1: How much better is he? I'm not sure that it's
- 45:47Speaker 1: that the gap is that big that I'm saying I
- 45:49Speaker 1: need to come away with one of these guys. I
- 45:52Speaker 1: like the I like the question though, because I do
- 45:56Speaker 1: feel like that that's a that's a controversial position to
- 45:59Speaker 1: move up for. I kind of agree with Evan's mindset
- 46:01Speaker 1: with tackle and taking you know, on top of that
- 46:07Speaker 1: the depth of the class, like he explained. So yeah,
- 46:10Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's a it's a fair point.
- 46:12Speaker 1: What does it cost you to go from fourteen to twelve?
- 46:14Speaker 1: Though in Patty's specific hypothetical, I don't think it depends.
- 46:20Speaker 1: I guess on who's are you bidding for that that pick?
- 46:23Speaker 1: And I think a big part of it too. So
- 46:26Speaker 1: if the Texans are back up at twelve, they've already
- 46:28Speaker 1: taken their quarterback probably at the top of the draft.
- 46:31Speaker 1: So is Will Levis or Anthony Richardson still sitting there
- 46:34Speaker 1: and now all of a sudden they're selling that pick
- 46:36Speaker 1: to somebody that wants to move up for a quarterback.
- 46:38Speaker 1: I just think it can get really expensive very quick.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Then you don't have to do it. Though, If that's
- 46:42Speaker 1: what's going to happen, well, he's saying that the Jets
- 46:44Speaker 1: are the team that he wants to leave frog. Oh
- 46:46Speaker 1: all right, I see what you're saying, right, I mean,
- 46:48Speaker 1: is that the Jets definitely going to take a tackle?
- 46:51Speaker 1: I think it's possible. I think my other part of
- 46:53Speaker 1: this is philosophically. You know, you mentioned to one Jones
- 46:56Speaker 1: on the right side, monstrous guy, like, what is the
- 46:59Speaker 1: you know, are we left tackle right tackle? Is that
- 47:02Speaker 1: still a huge difference? And what are the Patriots team? More?
- 47:05Speaker 1: Is Trump Brown gonna stay? Is he gonna stay on
- 47:07Speaker 1: the left? Is he going to go back to the right.
- 47:09Speaker 1: So there's a lot of questions in there that I
- 47:11Speaker 1: just wonder you have that though if he does stay,
- 47:14Speaker 1: you do have that flexibility that you can draft whatever
- 47:16Speaker 1: tackle you're like the best because you don't have to
- 47:17Speaker 1: worry about And that's a's point. I think you get
- 47:20Speaker 1: into the lower rounds, you're getting right tackle guys that
- 47:23Speaker 1: are probably going to step right in and play for you.
- 47:25Speaker 1: So it's just I think these are interesting conversations and
- 47:27Speaker 1: a lot of those guys, even the top ranked tackles,
- 47:29Speaker 1: A lot of those guys step in and play the
- 47:31Speaker 1: right side. Initially, yeah, you know some of them. You know,
- 47:34Speaker 1: I think Slater immediately, but you know, I think Sewell
- 47:38Speaker 1: play the right. So yeah, there's not Slater immediately played
- 47:41Speaker 1: the left, but that doesn't happen all the time. So
- 47:44Speaker 1: there's not a ton of natural left tackles. Other than
- 47:49Speaker 1: there's Roderick Jones, There's Paris Johnson, There's Duncan from Maryland
- 47:52Speaker 1: if you think that he's going to be a left tackle,
- 47:55Speaker 1: and there's Harrison from Oklahoma. Those are like the three
- 47:57Speaker 1: guys that have the athleticism to play on the left side.
- 48:00Speaker 1: The guys that I think that fit better for the
- 48:02Speaker 1: Patriots are actually the right tackle prospects. Dwan Jones is
- 48:06Speaker 1: a Trent Brown clone. He's six eight, three hundred and
- 48:08Speaker 1: eighty pounds. He's an absolute monster. Darnell Right from UH
- 48:11Speaker 1: Tennessee is six five, three forty So you're talking about bigger,
- 48:15Speaker 1: bulldozing type of players, which they typically play on the
- 48:17Speaker 1: right side. They don't usually put those guys on the
- 48:19Speaker 1: left side. So I just think that those are the
- 48:22Speaker 1: guys that I look at those two in particular, where
- 48:24Speaker 1: I say, if you draft Dawan Jones from Ohio State,
- 48:28Speaker 1: he's your day one starting right tackle. He fits the mold,
- 48:31Speaker 1: He does exactly what they want them to do on
- 48:33Speaker 1: the right side. And then all of a sudden you
- 48:35Speaker 1: get into the permitter of him and Mike on Winner
- 48:37Speaker 1: next to each other, like you want to run it
- 48:39Speaker 1: in on the goal line, like you have four hundred,
- 48:41Speaker 1: you know, seven hundred pounds of human on the right
- 48:44Speaker 1: side of your line now to bulldoze people. So that's
- 48:47Speaker 1: where I'm at. Thanks, Patty. Uh. Go to William and Phillham.
- 48:50Speaker 1: What's up? William? Hey? What's going on? Ready? How are
- 48:54Speaker 1: you doing? Okay? All right, I'm gonna make me feel
- 49:04Speaker 1: a little bit better. But I understand how you feel
- 49:07Speaker 1: a little bit. You know. I didn't want Tom Brady
- 49:08Speaker 1: Levison though, but I also feel like Tom don't owe
- 49:12Speaker 1: us anything. Man. I mean, I'm happy just, you know,
- 49:15Speaker 1: to be in that era. Was that I got to
- 49:17Speaker 1: see him you play for our team and won six
- 49:20Speaker 1: people Bowls and all now the way he the way
- 49:22Speaker 1: things ended in twenty nineteen, you know, I didn't like that,
- 49:26Speaker 1: you know, but I'm gonna be a little pushed back.
- 49:28Speaker 1: As far as you saying the pictures would do anything,
- 49:30Speaker 1: as far as the roster, I would disagree with that.
- 49:33Speaker 1: They didn't go get him a Mike Evers, Chris Godwin
- 49:36Speaker 1: or you know what I mean. They didn't get those
- 49:38Speaker 1: things right then. I think that was maybe a piece
- 49:40Speaker 1: of a reason. I'm not saying that's the main thing,
- 49:42Speaker 1: because that's what it was, and that's something else. But
- 49:44Speaker 1: I just think it's other things that was going on.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And also with Rock and Craft saying that well Tom
- 49:50Speaker 1: wanted to be here, will be here, Well I had
- 49:52Speaker 1: to be there. I us just say make an Apple series.
- 49:55Speaker 1: They come happy, get him what he wanted. He is
- 49:57Speaker 1: the greatest quarterback of all time. And you want to
- 50:00Speaker 1: man with somebody even though even though I have no
- 50:03Speaker 1: problem with this person on staff and I love dude,
- 50:06Speaker 1: I love Due and Death, but dudes wanted him out. Okay,
- 50:09Speaker 1: that's true. Can't argue people forget that it did. I did.
- 50:13Speaker 1: I was campaigning for Okay, So the whole roster thing though,
- 50:19Speaker 1: the whole roster thing though, well, what did the who
- 50:22Speaker 1: did the Patriots trade for? In the twenty seventeen offseason,
- 50:26Speaker 1: Christ traded for a pretty good wide receiver, all right.
- 50:29Speaker 1: When Brady wanted Antonio Brown, what did they do? They
- 50:32Speaker 1: brought in Antonio Brown didn't work out and out, but
- 50:36Speaker 1: that's he wanted him just as badly as the as
- 50:39Speaker 1: they did. Like it's it's you can't so I don't
- 50:43Speaker 1: do you include Flash Gordon in that? Trying to sure
- 50:46Speaker 1: sure if you if he comes back in twenty twenty,
- 50:49Speaker 1: I am sure that they maybe doesn't work out like
- 50:52Speaker 1: the rest of the misses that they've had at skill positions.
- 50:55Speaker 1: But I guarantee you that they would have brought in
- 50:58Speaker 1: somebody of some name val value into the offense in
- 51:01Speaker 1: twenty twenty if they still had Brady. The reason why
- 51:03Speaker 1: they didn't make any changes to the roster in twenty
- 51:06Speaker 1: twenty is because they were resetting because they didn't have
- 51:08Speaker 1: Brady anymore. If he comes back and you're pushing the
- 51:10Speaker 1: chips all back into the middle of the pile, I
- 51:12Speaker 1: think it's a totally different story. I would like to
- 51:14Speaker 1: know what Brady thought it to kill when, like when
- 51:17Speaker 1: that was percolating, when the was made, you know, how
- 51:19Speaker 1: involved was he with him? And he said as much
- 51:22Speaker 1: that you know, like it was I think more than
- 51:25Speaker 1: just intimations that this guy doesn't practice hard, he doesn't
- 51:29Speaker 1: work hard, he doesn't have the work ethic, right, Paul,
- 51:32Speaker 1: he's not even paying attention. I just want to say
- 51:37Speaker 1: it's gonna be okay. Evidently you know I'm with you.
- 51:40Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I'm gonna till Brady. I'm
- 51:41Speaker 1: gonna tat man down the heart. But I'm with you, man.
- 51:44Speaker 1: You know, but he'll come back. Man, I come begging
- 51:47Speaker 1: the pictures, so you know I'll leave it that dack.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Y'all have a nice day, all right, thanks. I mean,
- 51:53Speaker 1: if there's any you know, place where they should be,
- 51:58Speaker 1: you know, buying the Brady clothes, it would be New England, right,
- 52:01Speaker 1: So he's got a business interest here too. You gotta
- 52:05Speaker 1: think like big picture, like who's gonna buy the half brand?
- 52:07Speaker 1: I mean, is there just general Tom Brady fan who
- 52:09Speaker 1: lives in Arizona, you know, like who it doesn't really
- 52:12Speaker 1: care for the teams, but I mean I do separate ones.
- 52:15Speaker 1: You know, you'd have a Tampa marketing, you have New
- 52:16Speaker 1: England marketing. But that that post he did yesterday for
- 52:20Speaker 1: the end of Underwear? Did you see that? What was that?
- 52:23Speaker 1: Keep popping up? I can't get it away. I need there.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Mike's getting all uncomfortable over those. I just I guess
- 52:33Speaker 1: I missed another one. I'd like nobody here has seen
- 52:35Speaker 1: eighty for Brady? Right, and anybody you know what's so funny?
- 52:38Speaker 1: Do you remember on the show last week we were
- 52:39Speaker 1: talking who the hell is that demographic? Who's the negotiat?
- 52:42Speaker 1: I went to Costco that night and I'm walking by
- 52:44Speaker 1: a group of four old people at least seven years old,
- 52:48Speaker 1: talking about how they have plans that night to see
- 52:49Speaker 1: eighty for Brady and they're so excited. So he can
- 52:53Speaker 1: go for eighty for Brady and you can go on
- 52:56Speaker 1: the set with Edelman and Gronkowski in Patriot Scared Buddy,
- 53:02Speaker 1: I just bad enough. Glad you did the pot with build.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I'd like to get some spoilers from it the show
- 53:10Speaker 1: really rethinking that now I've been going on for a while,
- 53:13Speaker 1: I'd like to hear some reviews of this of this film.
- 53:15Speaker 1: I haven't heard anybody that I trusted. I heard somebody
- 53:18Speaker 1: told me that it's exactly what you think. Oh yeah,
- 53:20Speaker 1: Like it's if you go in thinking it's gonna be
- 53:22Speaker 1: this monitor but that but like, what is that like?
- 53:26Speaker 1: Is that horrifically bad? It's because that's what I would think.
- 53:29Speaker 1: It's nostalgia, it's it's it's kind of cool for like
- 53:33Speaker 1: I heard I heard, if you take it for what
- 53:35Speaker 1: it is, it's not that right. I don't know how
- 53:37Speaker 1: you could take it for anything more than what you know,
- 53:40Speaker 1: sort of shock right right of them bang ronk. That's
- 53:43Speaker 1: why I feel like that's one of them is a sexpot.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I feel like, right, one of the characters. Yeah, there's
- 53:47Speaker 1: one that there's Jane Fonda is probably blanched right. Yeah, yeah,
- 53:54Speaker 1: that sounds I think that's about right. Yeah, but I
- 53:56Speaker 1: will not be going to see that. What about I'll
- 53:58Speaker 1: watch it if I'll throw it on fast forward to
- 54:03Speaker 1: just the scenes. I'm sure it's mostly just filler to
- 54:06Speaker 1: That's an interesting question. Will I ever see it? Because
- 54:09Speaker 1: we come on, right, it'll come on like some movie
- 54:12Speaker 1: channel at some point, Deuce is gonna have to do
- 54:14Speaker 1: it right up about it? We Night and Alex Andy
- 54:22Speaker 1: and I we used to joke around about that when
- 54:25Speaker 1: we first started doing the preseason games, and we were
- 54:27Speaker 1: the Muppets and we were Stabbler and Waldorf, and we
- 54:30Speaker 1: we sort of toyed Fred Toyd with the idea of
- 54:33Speaker 1: like that what is the Mystery Science Theater? Yeah, where
- 54:36Speaker 1: you know it's me and Andy and like two aliens,
- 54:39Speaker 1: you know, like just watching a movie, you know, just
- 54:42Speaker 1: sort of heads way too big for that. That would
- 54:45Speaker 1: be one of the aliens, like a total eclipse, Giant
- 54:56Speaker 1: Ricardo writes in the statue himself to sleep tonight, huge, Huge,
- 55:01Speaker 1: I went with Giant Ricardo says, the statue we make
- 55:04Speaker 1: for Bill should be the meme of him walking like
- 55:07Speaker 1: a villain during the Detroit game, remember that one where
- 55:10Speaker 1: people wanted to shake his hand, just part of it.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Um see Chris Sims here is on the on the
- 55:16Speaker 1: Show with with Zolak and and he's really cornered the
- 55:19Speaker 1: market on button and the top button, hasn't he Like
- 55:21Speaker 1: that's his thing, Like every time you see Chris Sims,
- 55:23Speaker 1: that's what he's got, the top button nice and tight.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Your utter infatuation with what people are wearing will never
- 55:30Speaker 1: cease to amazing, Paul, That's how I am. Like he knew,
- 55:34Speaker 1: like to watch the pre show on the Grammys in
- 55:36Speaker 1: the you know what are they wearing? If you watched
- 55:38Speaker 1: it for that reason, I would understand it. Like fashion.
- 55:41Speaker 1: You're not watching it for fashion. You just want to see,
- 55:44Speaker 1: like he, where's that all the time. It's kind of noticeable. Yeah,
- 55:50Speaker 1: he looks like a Mormon and looks like a fu.
- 55:53Speaker 1: It just bumps me hard. Did you catch that one too?
- 55:58Speaker 1: He looks like a fraud because he is one. Because nasty,
- 56:01Speaker 1: nasty evans wowaty and this is awesome. I just don't
- 56:08Speaker 1: let them discuss, don't let them make fun of you.
- 56:10Speaker 1: You talk about like you're doing great. This guy just
- 56:13Speaker 1: makes crap up daily. Yeah, just just makes crap. I
- 56:18Speaker 1: don't know. I saw one one of his quotes that
- 56:19Speaker 1: it wasn't the smoothest operation last year, was his quote
- 56:22Speaker 1: about the pages really really he got like speaking of that, um,
- 56:28Speaker 1: speaking of podcasts and people with hot takes, what did
- 56:31Speaker 1: you think of Trent Dilfer's take the other day about
- 56:34Speaker 1: another guy that old time quarterbacks versus the model? Can
- 56:37Speaker 1: I just like, can I just first recap the comments? Right? So,
- 56:42Speaker 1: he had talked about he he's not impressed with Brady Rogers,
- 56:47Speaker 1: loves them, thinks they're great, but not impressed because it's
- 56:50Speaker 1: an era where you can't hit the quarterback, you can't
- 56:53Speaker 1: reroute receivers. You can't hit anybody over the middle, right. Okay,
- 56:56Speaker 1: So those are all the things that he said. I
- 56:58Speaker 1: think we can all agree that not being impressed with
- 57:01Speaker 1: Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers is pretty silly. It's pretty silly.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Take ye. Here's the only thing that I sort of
- 57:06Speaker 1: like the pushback that I would have on the human
- 57:09Speaker 1: cry against Trent Dilfer, like I disagree with his take.
- 57:13Speaker 1: I think it's damn impressive with Tom Brady's done. Sorry,
- 57:16Speaker 1: I know, I'm I'm you know, what does that make
- 57:19Speaker 1: the guy said, I'm a contrarian because I always take
- 57:21Speaker 1: the other side. So I think with Tom Brady is accomplished,
- 57:23Speaker 1: is pretty impressive. But why is it that Trent Trent
- 57:29Speaker 1: Dilford can't have that opinion because he sucked? Who said
- 57:33Speaker 1: that a lot of people a lot of people have
- 57:35Speaker 1: given you Trent Dilford's statistics. I'm saying this is that
- 57:39Speaker 1: that's not I don't care about that I played. I
- 57:41Speaker 1: think Tom Curran wrote something like he played eight years
- 57:45Speaker 1: in that era where you could supposedly do that, and
- 57:48Speaker 1: these are his numbers, these are I don't think Trent
- 57:50Speaker 1: Dilfer ever said he was better than Tom Brady. No,
- 57:52Speaker 1: I don't. I don't care about how good he was,
- 57:54Speaker 1: but I like, if you want to have an opinion, Yeah, again,
- 57:58Speaker 1: I disagree with his opinion, but his opinion should be
- 58:01Speaker 1: just as valid as anybody else. Shure anybody that watched I.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Just because he sucks doesn't mean he doesn't have an opinion.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Yeah I I That's what made it more weird for me,
- 58:10Speaker 1: because I kind of value his opinion, you know. And
- 58:13Speaker 1: it's like, despite how he played, he wasn't call anybody
- 58:15Speaker 1: that Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers is not impressive kind
- 58:18Speaker 1: of lost. Like you know, we always have that argument
- 58:22Speaker 1: about like superstars now versus superstars old days. You know,
- 58:27Speaker 1: how would the old guys be in today and they
- 58:29Speaker 1: you know, it wouldn't be as good. Bill Russell wouldn't
- 58:31Speaker 1: be as good, you know all that stuff, you know whatever,
- 58:33Speaker 1: But go reverse, Okay, would Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady
- 58:38Speaker 1: have been as good thirty years ago? I can't imagine
- 58:41Speaker 1: they wouldn't be. You know, like back then it was
- 58:48Speaker 1: your pocket pass it right, and it's all had to
- 58:52Speaker 1: do with like quick decision making and knowing the like
- 58:55Speaker 1: transport game is just so different though, like I'll give
- 58:58Speaker 1: you an example, like I don't know if you guys
- 59:00Speaker 1: cut any of this over the weekend, you would have Evan,
- 59:03Speaker 1: but you were away. So like NFL Network just ran
- 59:07Speaker 1: like a marathon of the Super Bowl highlight packages. They
- 59:10Speaker 1: were like a half hour hour or whatever. There was
- 59:14Speaker 1: one of the games I was watching, I think it
- 59:15Speaker 1: was twelve Dallas and Denver. There was like four plays
- 59:21Speaker 1: in a row they showed like that's there's a bomb
- 59:24Speaker 1: to Butch Johnson where he dies. It's an iconic play.
- 59:27Speaker 1: He dives, he rolls over in the end zone, he
- 59:29Speaker 1: leaves the ball down and then he gets up, it
- 59:32Speaker 1: celebrates and then runs back it picks up the ball.
- 59:34Speaker 1: There's no way they would call that a catch today.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Then there's like three other plays where a guy catches
- 59:39Speaker 1: the ball and immediately gets hit, ball pops loose. Same
- 59:42Speaker 1: thing with like Minnesota Pittsburgh. There's like a comedy of turnovers,
- 59:46Speaker 1: every one of which would not have been a turnover today.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Like the game was just officiated differently, played differently. And
- 59:55Speaker 1: you know, to Trent Dilfer's point, I think what he's
- 59:57Speaker 1: trying to say is like Johnny United is out there
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: and he's calling every play himself, he's running it, running
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: the entire show. He's getting absolutely killed on half of
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: the plays, and his receivers are getting killed on the
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: other half, none of which can happen today. The play
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: the quarterbacks don't call their own plays. They're not subjected
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: to those hits. Now, Do I think, just like I
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: think Johnny Unitieds would adapt today they were to play.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Do I think that Tom Brady and Adam Rodgers were
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: good enough to say, yeah, they probably could have been
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: good even if you were allowed to hit him. Yeah,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I do. That's my point. I think they're special talents.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: I think they would have been able to be great
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: regardless of when they play. I mean, and Johnny Unitis
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: would have adapted to this game probably, you know. Not
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: trying to make the point that Dilfer sucks. I just
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: found it funny that like the guy who's the shining
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: example that comes up all the time of like the
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: one team who did it without an elite quarterback, who
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: you know, without an offense that just had such a
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: good defense that you know that it came from him.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: That was just for me. It was like, that's kind
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: of weird, Like, but I think the way Paul laid
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: it out is correct, and I think I think the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: take was silly. I mean, I couldn't state that anymore clear.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: I mean to suggest that Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: not impression, Like you don't think that what they do
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: is different than what all these other guys are doing, Like,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: come on, yeah, not impressed. I don't know who the
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: audience was, but it must have been a lot of
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: old timers because when he said it, they clapped like
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: they were like, yeah, yeah, LT was on there. Oh
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: it's not on that Baltimore documentary. I just assume now.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I think I think it was a different thing. I
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: think it's like a player's tribune type of thing or
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, so I thought that was interesting anyway. Um,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Ryan writes in he's in Toronto, but he's also in
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Phoenix at the moment, he feels, I feel as though
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: there's only one true way for the Patriots to celebrate Brady,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: to fully capture the Brady Belichick era. Right after the
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Super Bowl, the Patriots signed Brady to a one day
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: contract to officially end his career with the club, and
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: since he'd still be under contract with the Bucks, the
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: league takes away New England's twenty twenty three first round
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: pick for tampering while under contract. You're right, Paul's thirty
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: for thirty Oh it was yeah, Okay, Buffalo bullies. Okay,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Baltimore bullies. Also. M Ryan says he was at the
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: media day yesterday in Phoenix and can still attest that
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: the Chiefs are the least likable team in football. Their
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: name is offensive, they still do the Tomahawk shop. The
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: quarterbacks mannerisms are family are detestable. The tight ends as
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: sharp as a marble Geha field sounds stupid. Every player's
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: name sounds like it was created in Madden, and their
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: masket is a wolf that looks like he matriculated his
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: way down a field of opiates. Opiates. Screw them Eagles
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: by ten? Wow? Okay. Do you hate the Chiefs? So
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I know Paul's. Paul's show yesterday was all about why
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: do you hate the Chiefs? I don't. I don't hate
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: the Chiefs. I don't just getting sick of I don't
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: think hates the right word. But I think the vast
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: majority of Patriots fans will be rooting against the Chiefs,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: so they don't have success. Yeah, but it's I don't
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: think it's necessarily a hatred of the Chiefs have a
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: lot of questionable characters on their team. I think a
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: few years ago when we were kind of I'm here
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: to tell you that has nothing to do with it personally,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: it was that combined with the fact that they were
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: kind of the last few Brady years, they were like
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: our rivals, So I believe. So I think that I
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: don't hate the Chiefs. I really enjoy watching Patrick Mahomes
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: play football, but I hate how Patrick Mahomes is covered
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: as a football player. And it's not his fault, but
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I just I think that the things that get you know,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: amplified about his game or actually not like what makes
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: him great, like it, you know, right, like the ridiculous
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: off platform It was like, yeah, they're really cool to watch,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: but he has really dominated the game since the jump
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: because of other reasons that have nothing to do with
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: the fact that he can throw off one leg. Those
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: make him fun to watch, absolutely, But I just feel
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: like if we explained to the common fan a little
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: bit more or about what makes him little talk about
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: explain continuing with a very wow. If you if you
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: explain to people there, you go that about what he
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: does ninety nine percent of the time that makes him
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: great instead of the one throw a game that he's
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: throwing off one leg and it happens to like fall
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: in complete. As Mike pointed out, it would. I think
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: it would go a lot further to not have such
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes fatigue. Yeah, and if people hate Travis Kelsey,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: I don't know. Travis Kelsey is a hateable guy. Yeah,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: he's He's afore why he's no more of a ya?
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Gronk actually knew I loved gron So did you? Oh?
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I loved Gronk because he was mine. Everybody loved Gronk.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure that a lot of people around the
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: league loved in love Gronk. I don't. I don't hate Kelsey.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I hate the ownership group more than I hate Kelsey
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: with you know with I don't think Travis is very likable.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I think his brother's very liable. I couldn't agree more.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: I think Jason seems like the greatest guy ever in
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Travis seems like as they call him on the morning
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: show on the Sports Up Summer's Eve, I don't know.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I have no problem to figure it out. I don't.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: I don't either. Can you have a dating show like that?
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Show rubs me the wrong way? I'm out soft football player?
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: His brother sounds fun, soft foot, he does well. I
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: love Jason Kelsey from the last Super Bowl and which
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: of course was painful for me. But the whole thing
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: he did with the King Crown and like dressed up,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I mean it was hilarious. I hope he does it again.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: He seems like a great guy, and he basically saved
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Travis's career. Yeah, Jason's. Oh he got kicked out of Cincinnati,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: and Jason basically went to the coach and vouched for him,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: you know, and just kind of like held his hand
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: and said, I will keep him on the straight now,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: please please please give him another shot. And that's why
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: it's so annoying, because it's like you are so privileged,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: you have all of this stuff going. I don't know.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: That's not the part that all that's very true. I
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: just watching him play like the I just he's not
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: really well rounded enough. He's not he's not a tight end.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Like he's not a tight end. He's I don't care
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: about that. He's a wide receiver, okay, And I I
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: don't know, it's it's a it's a wrong thing, right,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: that's what And that's what I think that most of
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: the blowback on the Chiefs is Patriots related, like they're
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: the next thing. And even though everybody laughs about it
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: in places we don't talk about at parties, like you know,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: twenty years not five, you know, there's a little bit
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: in the back of your mind that watches Mahomes and says, yeah,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: the inevitable that guy stays healthy for fifteen years, they're
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: going to have a chance to win the Super Bowl
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: every year. Now, they won't win seven times, but they'll
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: be in the run. But they'll have a chance every
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: year that he's healthy. And I'm convinced to that they
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: will have a chance to win the super Bowl every
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: year that he's healthy. It's just like the Patriots had
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: a chance every year that Brady was healthy. It's remarkable
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that they traded Tyree Hill and they're back in the
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Super Bowl, Like they traded a top five receiver in
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: the NFL and their offense got better in some ways somehow.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I mean statistically it probably did. It's probably not better,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: but statistically they led the league. Get everything right, I
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: think Mahomes talked about it, and I thought it was
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: really interesting to hear him talk about it. Was just
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: how it made him need to be a better quarterback
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: because he couldn't just look deep for Tyreek every single
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: play and know he was gonna So now all of
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: a sudden, he's actually getting through the full progressionaries, you know,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: balancing and looking at different receivers that he wouldn't have
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: necessarily looked at before, and spreading the ball around, and
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: it made them difficult to defend. I think he's just
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: plug in like that Pacheco kid, Like he runs hard,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Like I'm like, where is this kid? Like all that said,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: I think he's going to have a tough day Sunday
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: because I don't think he can move. I don't either,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: and I think he's going to be in trouble. We're
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: gonna get into that on Thursday. Nate and Northeast Pennsylvania says,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: I have the eighty for Brady review, though Mike is
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: let's get it, get it. I consider myself a pretty
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: decent movie critic when it comes to recognize good writing
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: or acting. With that set, I knew going into the
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: movie that it would be cheesy and bad. While it
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: was really cheesy and really bad, not too many laughs,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: no jokes. My favorite parts were the clips from the
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: actual game. The players cameos only lasted about two minutes
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: toward the end. Believe it or not, the movie theater
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: was packed mostly middle aged slash older women. Save yourself
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: the time, don't see Yeah, yeah, but see what kind
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: of money does Well that's you know, like some of
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: these NFL shows, like you know, based on the real games,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: none of them are really that good. But like Draft
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Day came to mind because that was one that clearly
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: had the cooperation of the league. They were able to
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: use all the logos and marks and footage and all
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: that stuff. I thought it was an okay movie. I mean,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I know it probably wasn't realistic, but I thought it
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: was well done. I will say this for that movie.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: And obviously we I mean, especially myself Evan like guys
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: who were just obsessed with the draft and like, no
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: all the inner workings. My wife watched it with me,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: and she knows nothing about football, and for her, she
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: was she found it interesting. It expliced. She's like, this
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: is what it's like, and I'm like, no, but it
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: was but kind of in the vicinity. I guess. So,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: you know, for people like that, people for Evans fans
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: don't need to be like, yeah, that's mean if you're
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: called casual, if you're real draft purist, like you'd be
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: like that would never happen. But I thought, you know,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: it was a Hollywood well done movie about the NFL
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: draft Kevin Costner, and I thought it was good. It
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: was all right, Paul, you're eating, I'll talk to you
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: after I got I got a question for you. Maybe
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: we can tease it. But did you see the ben
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: affleck J. Lopis coming out of the Grammy's Oh yeah,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: he just did not want to be there. I didn't
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: hear about it, but I didn't say that. Yeah, he
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: was like, I want to kill some He was like,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I'm Batman. Yeah, all right, we're gonna take a break.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Paul needs to eat. We'll be right back. Verizon, the

- 1:20:12Speaker 1: is Paul in the basement? Is it because of construction. No,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: we just thought that was the best place for him, really,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: you know. So we had a lot of people complain
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: and some of the older some of the older people
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: in the organization, such as myself, believe it's phase one
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: of a phase out. Yeah. Right, Let you keep your
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: stapler though, right. Yeah. Fred came to me right as
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: training camp was starting and said, oh, by the way,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: you need to go downstairs. And I was like, yeah,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I like after camp. He goes, No, now, okay, I
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: don't believe packed up your out. You did as soon
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: as possible, you said, I said, when you can. Yeah,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I mean you didn't like hound me to get out
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: of here, but you told me immediately. Yeah. Effective now ye,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: but now you're in the crossfire of triangle fire. Belichick
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: coming in yet a little moment with your your guy, Billy. Oh,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: I have not had any interactions with Belichick. Billy. Billy
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: O'Brien was in my office like the day after we
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: found out that he was coming back. Um, he made
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: fun of me from my commute, which was nice. Nor
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: guy too, isn't he originally he gets it, he gets it,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: he gets to one other. I can't find the email,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: but um, and I apologize for that. But someone was
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: really criticizing me for liking Hooters wings and saying that
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: they had breadcrumbs on it. Hooters wings aren't crazy. I like, like,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: it's not bread comes per se, but they have like
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: a batter, like a brighted thing over it. It's not bad.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: You know, I've never been Hooters. Yeah, it's not bad.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Are you against it? No? I just have never. There's
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: one in somebody's daughter went to. I mean, I've been
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: to place worse than Hooters. Is like mild compared to
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: the white Oh yeah yeah, it's I have no idea
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: what you're talking about. You know, did you take Alex
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: to uh to Hooters out and knowing this strip? Yeah,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: we were walking the strip and these three girls go
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: by us, and he goes, those are strippers, right, Like,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: what do you think I want to have? I wanted
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Alex to have that moment. I wanted Alex to have
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: that moment that I feel like every guy I know
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: has and they go to Vegas where they're just sitting
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: somewhere and all of a sudden, like the three most
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: beautiful women they've ever seen just come and pretend to
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: be interested in them. And they don't realize it's a hooker.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: People don't really not realize that though they just try to.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: They just try to. But you're just like in the
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: back of your mind, not everyone as you are. Yeah,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: it was great. I was like, gave me the world
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: to a prostitution, like you know what it is, you
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: know what it is always but oh but my point
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: is you kind of convince yourself like, yeah, maybe maybe
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: they're not. Oh yeah it is, you know that they are.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: I got to back up Alex on this point because
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: that's exactly what happened to me. I went my first
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: time to Vegas and my friend's birthday. That could happen
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: to you, that's why believes. But they didn't talk to me.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: They didn't talk to me. We're in the Mandalai Bay
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: late night like this was you know everything, It's like
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: two three in the morning. And my thought process that was, like,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: why are all these like dressed up women but with
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: like one or two very obnoxious tattoos all over this
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: place like that was like the like they were always
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: very nicely dressed, but they would always just be then
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: likes tattoo, aggressive tattoo. It is an interesting thing that
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Alex brings up because I wonder if I was like
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: twenty four and I was hanging out in Vegas and
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: that happened. I wonder if I would have been like
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: obnoxious enough to be like, let me go to the ATM. Yeah,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: well no, no, no, not realizing that that I would
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: need to go to the ATM. You know, when I
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: was much what very little time I spent in Vegas,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: I was already you know this happened White Lotus. Yeah,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: it was a little I was a little older and
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: not you know, I kind of knew like, yeah, yeah,
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: that woman's not interested in me. Yeah. No, I didn't
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: get hit on it. I'll never forget that though those
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: were strippers. Was it the pasties or was it the
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: which part of it was? Was that too me? To me?
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: What I did on Twitter? No, it was great, it
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: was great. But he saw it at a point in
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: time in the trip where we were pretty tired at
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: that point, and you know, I think it was like
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: day six and he was Yeah, he was already in
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: his fields about something unrelated and his fields feels. So
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: he saw that he was just like the sixth round
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: center didn't quite live up the expectations so bad. Rick
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: Stromberg fumbled a snap out. I just thought he didn't respond. Yes, man,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: let him lick the buffalo offt Fingers. Uh, let's go
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: back to the phones. Five five past five hundred marks
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: and Bolton hey, Mark, oh hey, um he's Uh. I'm
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: starting to wonder when when Paul here's my name, he
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: starts to think like a red flag in front of
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: a bull. Um, I don't know, I don't know, sort
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: of irritating him late. You're a fan. I think I
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: think that's you know, I'm not triggered, so I think
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: I'm losing my fastball. Yeah, I mean, but he just
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: lumps you win with all the other people. Yeah. I
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: got my two leader with diapepsia. I'm good. Um. One
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: a combine prediction, another free agency and last, I think
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: it's gonna be a draft maker type call that's been
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: made with the combine. I think that especially with offensive tackles,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: we're getting this uh, you know, high end. You know
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: what's what's what's their ceiling. And I think that once
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: like guys like Paris Johnson and Broderick Jones and even
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: maybe even Dwan Jones test out that their their ceiling
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: is going to be so high that it might push
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: a guy like uh Peter Scarnski, who's probably the most
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: NFL ready guy ready to play, to the path of fourteen.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: And I think that that would be a good development
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: because I think they just they need a guy that's
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: just solid. They don't need some of this that's all
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: world um free agency. I've been getting some heat on Twitter,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: but I think I'd love to see the path Squapic
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: Tremaine Edmund. I think that would really complete their defense.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Who's that that's a lot of too much money, wrong play,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: you know other other too much money can't can't be
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: too tight against the cap that doesn't exist, right, Yeah,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: I think physical creak the bills and it sends a
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: message the bill you know we're coming for you. And
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: a guy that I really liked um Uh as far
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: as potential is concerned, and he might not have to
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: even do anything first year is uh Organ. State's got
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: a tight end at six six two fifty five and
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: you know, yeah, give him some gives him, you know,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: some coaching and sent a year at the training table
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: and get him to two sixty five. And that's a loop.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Mus Grave Ye three comments. I don't know what anybody
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: thinks about just one little pet peeve of mine. It
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: comes to draft season. You can't just automatically make twenty
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: everybody twenty pounds heavier, like we recognize, like you can't
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: just take a player like Tae Kwon, I think is
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: a great example of this. Tae Kwon is four pounds,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty pounds. If that soaking wet, He's
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: not gonna be two ten like it's it just he
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: is what he is. I think though, there's original point
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: of the Scronsky pick to me is what's staring me
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: right in the face every single time I look at
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: the first round and try to figure out what they
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: might be able to do at fourteen. I don't think
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: he's one of these guys that's going to go into
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: the combine and put on a show. I don't think
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: he's going to run a sub five. I don't think
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: he's gonna have this crazy, you know workout that that
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: propels him into the top ten. I could end up
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: being wrong about that, but that early teens fourteen feels
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: exactly like where he's about to go in the draft.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: And I think that he does some things. He's not
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: as flashy as a Brodrick Jones, for example. It is
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: really really good in space and has all these blocks
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: and on the move that are just ridiculous. But when
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: you really study his film and get into the nitty
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: gritty of it, you're like, oh, wow, that was like
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: a really smart thing he did there, or this was
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: a you know, his hand technique here was perfect. That
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: was perfect. This is polished, that's done. So I think
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: that there's a lot to be said for that as well.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: I would just to piggyback on a little bit. I mean,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: I think I texted you last week, which is just
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: it just seems like this is a very talented tight
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: end class with good like throughout the first two days
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: there are guys who can play. So I mean my
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: text to Evan was like, they kind of have to
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: hit a tight end this year. I mean, you know,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: no disrespect to Hunter Henry or John Smith, but it
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: seems like they could get a really athletic guy that
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: they could maybe groom at least as just a move guy. Yeah,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: I just have seen too many, and I you know,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: I don't necessarily hold a lot of stock in all
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: the mock draft, but I've seen too many in the
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: first round, you know, I've seen too many. Yeah, I've
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: seen too many Mayors. And I don't like it'd be
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: one thing I wouldn't have done this either. But like
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts a couple of years ago was like supposed
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: to be this next generation type of tight end, right,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I don't think Michael Mayor's that. I don't even think
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: that he's largely he's a consensus best tight end in
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: this class. Now. I think if you there's an argument
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: obviously that you take the tight end and it's the Gronk,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: the Kelsey, the Mark Andrews ro Out where he's your
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: top guy in your offense, and maybe Michael Mayer somebody.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: Some of the other tight ends in this class are
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: better tight end prospects, and the wide receiver prospects are
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: wide receiver prospects. So that's the way that you go. Um,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: the guy that I had mentioned for a tight end though,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: is a lot too from Alabama, like just played for
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien for the last two years, had great production
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: in Bill Brian's offense really took off. His career took
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: off really sharp, precise, consistent route runner. I think that
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: he is a guy that third or fourth round you
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: could get at that range in the draft, which I
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: think makes a little bit more sense when that's when
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: I'm with Mike. They need to get a tight end
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: if you want to do it in a third or
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: fourth round. I'm and what's the new guy they hired.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Was he with Bill O'Brian last year at Alabama or
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: was that? Yes? So so he so you have that
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Cameron is his name, and he's who's the Senior Bowl.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: He can do a little bit of everything. He's more
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: of like a traditional why but he can play a
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: little bit off too, and he's got really really good
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: route runner. I wonder if you know, one of Bill
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: O'Brien's criteria for coming on boardards I have to have
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: some say in the draft, you know, I mean I
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: would hope that they would, you know, I don't. I mean,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I like say and and you know, input, like you know,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: where do you say, like, oh, he's going to decide?
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: But I would hope. So, I mean, I hope that
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: he is, you know, a major part of whatever they're
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: going to draft offensively when it's you know, going to
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: the tackles like you know, how how are these guys
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: gonna fit in with what we're gonna do? Yeah, it's
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: gonna be my offense, we think. And I know the
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: type of player I need. You know, Eldred's in North Carolina?
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: What's up? Eldred? Hey? Hey, for lord lady, how y'all
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: doing good? Ellen? Good? I got a couple of questions, ever,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: and I get you take it off the air, Heaven.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I know you did the Senior Bowl and on that
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: how did it look? But I ain't feeling I ain't.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: I ain't feeling the tackle on the first round. So
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: my question is, if he had a choice, Heaven, would
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: you get the Vane Witherstone or Quintin Junk? I'd probably
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: go Witherspinning Quinn Johnson. Where is the crap out of me?
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: As a as a Patriots prospect? I think it's just
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: too much of the same mistake that you made with
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: nik Kill Harry. If I if I'm going wide receiver
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: in the first round as the Patriots I'd take Jordan
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: Addison all day, but I don't think Quintin Johnson's is
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: the type of guy that they necessarily need Weather's. But
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: I haven't done a deep dive into him yet, but
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: I like what I've seen so far out of him,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: and I do I do wonder what za cornerback class.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: There's a lot of the same guy like that. You
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: you know, you can get a lot of these six
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: foot one, six foot two corners that the Patriots could
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: really use on the outside. I think it's similar to
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: what I was saying earlier about tackle, but even more
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: so at corner. I'm not sure how different guy like
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: Witherspoon is from a guy like Julius Brents from Kansas State,
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: who I really like. Is like sixty three is good
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: number one? Yeah, Yeah, I just don't I don't know
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: how different they are. Sucking it killed the other guy,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: Kailty or whatever his name is. Oh, he's about six two.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: They got him rated sucking or third. Okay, yeah, good one.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: I gotta go, all right, thanks biggy, All right? Uh
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Rashads in Baltimore. What's up? Hey, what's up? What's that? Um?
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: I don't I don't have nothing to want to current Patriots.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: I think that I got a question for Paul. They're three. Um,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that you guys know who Robert Edwards did,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: but I don't know the story about, Um what happened
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: to him about I guess sudden with the Pro Bowl. Yeah,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: he was playing beach volleyball actually, and he ripped apart
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: his leg and I mean the leg almost had to
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: come off. It was about all the ligaments and he
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: had uh like otteries damaged and lost nerve um and
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Fred's right, they almost had to to cut off. And
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: he was never the same. He had that drop foot
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: afterwards where you kind of when you walk, your foot
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: kind of just drops like like gravity. Um, he had
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: not very little control. He tried to come back. Um,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: I want to say in oh one, Yeah, I think so.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: I think he was out the entire two thousand season.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Well what was he no? What was other? He was thin?
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: He was a Carol draftee right, Yeah, And what was
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: the that he was it ninety eight that he was
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: a rookie and he missed all the ninety nine season,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: might have been two thousand. He tried to come back. Yeah,
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: and Miami took him, right, I think Miami did take him. Yeah,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: but he was he never was the same. Yeah, um,
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: and he was good, Like he had a really good
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: rookie year. I don't know how great he was or
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: could have been, but I do think that was you know,
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: and that's that's the cautionary tale of the Pro Bowl games, right,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: that's the whole thing. You know, he heard it playing
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: beach volleyball. It's probably the worst Pro Bowl injury ever.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: And it wasn't even during the game. You know. Um,
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: it was too bad because he was I think in
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: his first year he had stin left and you were like, yeah,
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: I know he was not kl Smartin, No, but he
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: could have been good. Yeah, it was good. He was good, Fred,
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: he was good. A lot of those guys like Leonard Russell,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: big powerbacks in the nine. He was better than Leonard Russell,
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: I think, but Leonard Russell was promising. Do you think
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: if you heard the robbery Ledwards like, oh, he was
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: the next like that. And that's why I said, you know,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: he was no Curtis Smartin, but he was good. Yeah,
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: Like it was a good player. They lost after one
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: season because of As a casual fan at that point.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: That's just like that's what you thought. You're like, oh
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: you gotta yeah, I got, I got, I got one
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: thing for you. Um last week when you was talking
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: about the Brady thing, you were you were one hundred
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: and spent right like he was with us for twenty years. Now,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I know that email that they spent then the thing
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: about you know, Brady and Tampa Bay, but they was
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: he was what U for twenty years. It could have
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: been it could have been some bad time, but it
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: was twenty years. That's right, Like like I'm sorry, I'm
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: sorry to that lady, but like that that that's that's
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: more you know, that's more than time. And Tampa, that's
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: right and even stuck with me too, Tampa, Tina, that's right. Now,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: I'm with you, Rashad. Twenty years, nine appearances, six super
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Bowls does not equal three years one super Bowl. Sorry,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: some emailers said that, yeah, we should read no, Fred
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Fred was really ESPN had like banners up and you
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: know it had like Tampa Bay and some of the
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: highlight packages were showing it was fifty all Tampa Bay stuff.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: He was very upset about it. Yeah, but we understand that.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: But then we had the email the Patriots, you've established yourself. Yeah.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: The woman emailed in and basically told us that we're
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: all delusional for thinking that Tom still cares about us.
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: I think we might be. Yeah, Evan would a great
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: Did you see somebody sent a tweet of Madden? I
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: think had some kind of graphic they put out. Fred's right,
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: it's like two and a half times, but it's really like,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: if you look, there were two pages. There were two
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Patriots and one buck, and they were basically equal size. No, yeah,
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: the buck one is bigger, but there are two Patriots,
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: I know, so you got to combine them. I agree
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: with that email or I didn't even I don't even
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: know what you didn't hear the email? Now that's the
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: polish thing he's ever said. I agree with the email.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: I don't even wow you. Who are somebody hurt you? Evan? Yeah,
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: like the ex girlfriend that got away and this is worse. Yeah,
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: I'm back and grovel at my feet exactly. Jason and
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Lots have been made of the conversation
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: between Belichick and Brady and Brady's podcast. My honest question
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: to all of you is, do you think it is
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: strictly a pr move for the both of them, or
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: is their actual sincerity there. I'd like to believe the latter,
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: but I would not be shocked to learn if it
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: was only the former. No, I think there was sincerity.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: I mean, I think Basicly had his parents on, he
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: had Peyton, I mean, he had you know, it was
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: it was kind of a retrospective on his career. So
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: I don't I'm sure he just asked. And you know,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: a lot of the same stuff from Bill you've heard
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: from him over the years in terms of what he praised.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: Book was so great about Tom and you know, not
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: nothing that we hadn't heard before. But I mean, I
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: liked it just it felt like a little bit of
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: reset button here is we're getting into new territory with
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: with all of it. Um Juan and Mexico says he
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: hates the chiefs because of Kelsey. He's a douche, like
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: an evil gront because all that. Since he major, I
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: hate my Home's brother and his TikTok's and my Home's
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: wife or whatever she is. That's fair. They're hatable. They
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: haven't been around this year. He had a conversation. I
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: just had to sit down after the restaurant incident with
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: the brother, that was the end of those out I
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: just can't imagine not liking a team because of the
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: spouse and sibling of one of it. You're simply not
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: a fan, Paul. That's how fans react, so annoying exactly,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: Like why would I hate the Patriots because I don't
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: like Giselle? Because because you Because I highly disagree. Because
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: have you taken in any of Jackson movie? If you
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: were the other day that she was piping the media
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: because he can't throw it and catch it at the
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: same time, you would think it was ridiculous. But for whatever,
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I'd like a little, I'd like a moment. No, I mean, like,
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: for for some people, whoever the person is, you don't
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: want good things to happen to that person. If that
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: means not liking a whole organization just so that one
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: person can't have good things, that's just the way it is.
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: Oh No, but I and I completely understand that. No.
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: But if I didn't like Mahomes and I don't want
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: good things to happen to Mahomes, yeah, I would completely
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: understand that. Like you can like and not like anybody.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: I just don't understand family members fall into I like Mahomes,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: I just don't like his wife, so I'm gonna root
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: against him. That that's irrational, No, it isn't. That's how
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: most people feel. Most people like Patrick Mahomes, right, we
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: can't have good I think a lot of people don't
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: like his wife. Right. I don't like his wife. I don't.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: I think she's highly annoying. But like I don't. That
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: doesn't have anything to do with why I'm watching a
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: football game like I hate. I'll give you a perfect example.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: I despise Anna Horford. Okay, I root for the Celtics
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: every game. I root for Al Horford to make threes
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: not enough, Then you don't despise her. That's a fair point.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Like what, like, you know what I'm talking about with
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: Anna Horford. She's annoying as hell. I like Anna, but
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: the Celtics in my team. That doesn't take any of
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: my enjoyment away from watching Al Horford. Well, it's not
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: Chiefs fans that are having this hatred. It's the rest
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: of the league. Just like we love Al Horford. That's
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: a fair point. Maybe I would feel talk to Philly
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: fans about Anna. That's that's a good point. First name
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: in a bar in Philly once and they wanted to
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: kill me. Well, Al Horford quit on them. Yeah, Al
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: Horford and Ben Simmons. Don't say those team names in Philadelphia.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: The height of professionalism. He's gonna fix the locker room.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: He's quit on like four teams. But that's you know, sorry, Yeah,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: like Kyrie Irving going over to Dallas. Who I mean,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: come on, no, But that's a good point. I didn't
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: look at it that way because if I didn't like
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: the Celtics, maybe I would. It is a good point.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: Maybe I'd be prettdisposed to get Alex the voice of reason.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: I'm here, okay, um, Kevin and Durblin. The most interesting
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: point to me from Brady's podcast last night was the
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: comment about the New England Boston media seeking to drive
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: a wedge between Bill and Tom and the Patriots in general.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: Do you think this was pointing out at pointing to
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: anyone in particular, and giving Brady's propensity to use media
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: commentary like bulletin board material? Contrary, it was easy breezy
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: four agreements guru per persona. What stories do you think
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: really irked him while he was a Patriot. Well, that
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: particular story was Seth Wickersham Wickersham Comma Seth. Yeah that
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: was a big not Boston media. Yeah right, he's ESPN,
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: but he had fifty fifty sources inside the building of
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: the most titlit building, and pretty much everything he wrote
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: was let's face it, like a lot of people, as
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: much as you hate to admit it, in in twenty
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: nineteen and we this is all old stuff. But in
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, when I made the comment earlier in the show,
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: like I made sure that my kids went to that
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: game because I knew that was the last game. It
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: wasn't because of anything that happened in twenty nineteen. It
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: was in twenty seventeen when he basically was telling anybody
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: that would listen that he wasn't happy. And it got
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: worse as time went on. And I mean I remember,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: before the twenty nineteen season even started, We're in yeah,
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: go ask mister Kraft, Like if you didn't think like
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: this whole story had come out yet, like months before
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: he's telling you, he's telling you to go and ask
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: the owner. The contract then went on for a long
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: time if you didn't think at that time like you know,
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: and I'm not making fun of you for it because
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: you thought he was going too, you know, would just
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: were kind of like, we're hoping and whatever. It was
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: pretty clear he was leaving. Yeah, unless you had your
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: head in the sand and just beyond hope and that
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: that all, like that was all to me pretty obvious
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: that they didn't value him and he had had enough
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: of not being valued, right, do you know what I'm saying.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: I absolutely know what you're saying. I mean, and there's
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: no doubt that that's true. They didn't think that he
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: was going to be able to play until he was
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: forty five at that at a high level, and he
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: was tired of taking less. Yeah, And like I've talked
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: to people that are close to him, you know, I'm
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: not gonna get but that's what they told me, you know.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: And Giselle said it, you know, she said it out,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: you know, out loud. So that's absolutely the case. Alex
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: and Engelwood, New Jersey. I'll be rooting against the Eagles,
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: he said. The last time they won. I was in
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: college in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and the Eagles fans are by
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: far some of the most insufferable out there. They burned
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: the city. If they win, they burn it. If they lose,
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: I'll be rooting against the Eagles through and through. The
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: Chiefs will never top all the dynasty that the Patriots
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: have put together over the past twenty years. And Paul
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: hit it right on the head. They will be in
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: it every year, but won't finish it off. To get
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: seven Super Bowls? Well maybe you never know. I don't
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: want to chance it a lot. Yeah, a lot depends
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: on the other teams too, But I mean I think
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: the odds of them winning, you know, the odds of
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes winning seven titles or at the minuscule I
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: get it. I mean, does he have to win that
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: many to be considered great? You know, at that level
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: of greatness. Look at Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, everybody consider I
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: think most people consider him a top five seven quarterback
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: all time. He's got one. Yep. Where's he going to
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: end up? By the way, I was listening to talk
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: about Vegas this weekend. That was funny. Yeah, that was fine.
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: I give him credits, you know, because I always think
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: you him as such a now like he had a
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: sense of humor, yeah, a little bit. He had fun
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: with it. He was at the pro am. I know,
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: did you hear that? Now there's a controversy that he
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: submitted a handicap. He basically sandbagged then, Oh really yeah,
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: that's the most Yeah, I'm sorry and we're back. Yeah,
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: that's the most out and rogers than ever. Yeah, I
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: heard that this morning. Can you explain that? What is up? Well?
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: You have you Yeah, I mean I know, what if
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: you register your handpack handicap with the US whatever. Yeah,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: and you know, he's supposed to be honest about it,
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: and depending on what your number is, you get that
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: advantage when you enter tournaments. And there's a thing called
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: sand backing sandbagging where people enter, they finish around, and
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: they enter a worst score than they really had, so
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: then their handicap goes up, so that that when they're
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: in a real tournament they have an advantage. It's it's
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: like it's a no no among golfers, you know, sand
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: bags supposed Yeah, he's supposed to be honest about your score.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: The honors, Oh yeah, that's I mean that's Pebble Beach.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: Did you do that Pebble Beach this week? Yeah? He
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: won and I actually peep on the prom I played
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: with a sandbagger once, like a known like did you
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: know you? Well I didn't. I didn't know the guy.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: But it was four of us and the guy that
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: it was. We were playing in Maynard or someplace, and
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: this guy says, this guy's a sandbagger. He's a known sandbagger,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: and so you get money. Well, yeah, we were kind
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: of betting. It wasn't a tournament or anything, but that's
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: not older guy, older guy. Yeah, and so then at
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: the end he's like and I get yeah, four strokes.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: Well it wasn't based. We were just playing, you know,
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: by holes, so it didn't really matter. But they pointed
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: out this guy as a sandbagger. I had never played
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: with one before. Yeah, but that's a faux paw in
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: the golf. There's a lot of them. I'm always like
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: stressed out in golf. I mean, I've talked before about
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: golf Tory Pines and the ranger was up our ass
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: the whole time because we were a bunch of idiots,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: like we had no right to be golfing Tory Pines
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: down there. But it's there's a lot of rules too
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: many people I'm arounding golf. They do it the other way.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: They tell you how great they are, right, and then
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: they get out there and you get out there and play,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: and you're like, he's not any better than me, and
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I suck Cannon, New Jersey. Uh about eighty four Brady.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: Actually not as bad of a movie as I was expecting.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Ridiculous opinion. Yeah, ridiculously unrealistic, but kind of cute and
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: enjoyable if you like those actresses, which I do. The
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: women sitting in front of my wife and I were
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: laughing NonStop. But you can definitely wait until it is
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: on streaming service HBO or the like. If you have
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: to call a movie cute, is it really good? Well,
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: if it's supposed to be cute and it's cute, be good. Yeah.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: I just I saw one Patriots fan write about it
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: on Twitter and she said something the effective like, I
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: really liked the scenes with the team, but I wish
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: I could have ended it right there, because whatever came
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: after they won the Super Bowl, they're, you know, the
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: the final part of it. She she found complete disasters
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: for a sequel, believe it or not. Really, Yeah, I
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: just like I've heard a lot of people saying, like, like,
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I think tracks, Tracks had something on Facebook that he
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: wrote was like it was it brought me right back
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: to that, Like you go into that movie so you
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: could sort of relive the super Bowl, but just call
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: up like go on YouTube right like what do you
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: need to go see a movie DVD? I don't really
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: understand like the correlation of memories of ZionT is listening
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: to us right now. Auntie Mary shout out, and she
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: saw it on Sunday, she said, and all over age
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: fifty women wearing Tom Brady's shirts just a few minutes,
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: a few men. She said it was okay. Yeah, she
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: said it was just okay. So it's like she said,
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: for her, Yeah, I think so. I don't know if
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: she has your temper. I'm not sure Auntie Mary is
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: the exact target audience for that movie. Okay? Yeah? Uh
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Ford and Savannah Georgia. If this next season comes down
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: to another win and win an in scenario or a
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: playoff Berth against Buffalo in the first round, can't we
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: say Brady's one day contract for that day and suit
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: him up to help us get over for the hump.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: I'm obviously joking. Thank you, thank you for clarifying that. PS.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Can we also retire saying the goat unless it's about
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Brady Nolan. Ryan and Michael Jordan had a baby, and
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: that was Brady until someone knocks him off. Top seven
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: titles of something along those lines. Indisputable evidence. There can
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: only be one football goat. It's like the movie Highlander.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: There can only be one goat. I don't know. I
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: don't really, I don't, but there could be a goat
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: in every sport, you know, no, no, but I agree
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: with that. Yeah, there can only be one in football. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: If you're the goat, you're the goat. It's the greatest
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: of all time, not among the greats of all times, right, right,
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: he's one of the goats. Never got the goats? Um
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: about um, let's see who who is really mad at
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: Chris Simms for buttoning the top us. Thank you, Jack
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: and and our says Magic Johnson originated the buttoning the
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: top button thing. Oh, I feel like I didn't know
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: that Johnson way cooler chrisnd Come on, Magic is like
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: one of the most chartismatic guys ever could wear About that?
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Um L from Wisconsin sitting with what's been the report
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: for about a week now. I guess I don't know
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: what he's talking about. Maybe Bill O'Brien. I think this
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: is the most clear evidence that we've seen that Bill
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: may have lost his fastball, not realizing how much the
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: OC did moonlighting is play caller at times and it
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: looked like this though I'm sure people will say those
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: are the times the old look good and possibly worse. Yet,
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: if all this stuff about Judge is true, he just
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: let it happen, and on top of that might bring
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: Judge back. Not very characteristic of the rest of his tenure.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: Just wanted to get my thoughts out here. Hopefully the
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: ship is right in next season, though I am where
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: rate will win too many games to get a quarterback
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: in the draft. Um, yeah, we really didn't talk about that.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: There was a report out that Bill at times actually
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: called plays, oh yeah during the se and that was
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: why some of them. That was of them better than that. Now,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: I thought that was Yeah. I think that came out
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: after Paul. I thought we talked about. We did talk
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: about it might have been breathed though, you know, I
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: don't recall. Yeah, what did you think about that? I mean,
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: I thought it was it made sense. I mean, this
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: is I mean, I can't understate, like how surprised I
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: am it to echo the emailers calls that they that
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: that that he would make a mistake like this, Like
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: it just feels did anyone really think it will work?
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: Was there anybody out there that was like, depth, this
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: will be great? Like, well, I'm not surprised. I mean,
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: learning that he might have called plays at times makes
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: me understand why Mac was even more confused. I mean,
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: have all those voices that's not good. I think that's
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: what we talked about when we talked about this. You
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: can understand him waving everybody off like shot up, yeah,
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: because he probably had too many voices in his head.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: I don't kind of like he. I think what Bill
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: might have underestimated about the whole situation is I genuinely
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: now believe that Map, Patricia and Joe Judge were there
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: to just be to be babysitters and just to placehold
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: for the position because ye, yes, yeah, because I think
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien was was always coming back and I think
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: that his contract in Alabama was what it was, and
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: they I mean that the whole Bill O'Brien thing happened
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: so quickly for him to come back this time and
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: it seemed like such a slam dunk from both sides
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: that I really think that Matt, Patricia and Joe Judge
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: were there just as a bridge to get back to Bill.
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: I said, Am I the only one that wants someone
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: to get fired over that? If that's what happened, Yes,
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: I think that the problem is that I think you
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: sabotaged the whole season. Well, no, you tried to get
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: by then it was in the placeholder then if you thought,
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: I think that's what he underestimated. I think he thought
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: because of himself, and I don't necessarily think that this
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: was wrong going into because he is Bill Belichick. I
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: think he would he thought, as himself, I will at
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: least keep the train on the tracks enough, this isn't
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: going to ruin. Whether it was a placeholder or extended.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: He thought it could work, well, I think he thought
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: it could work, Yes, I just I don't think if
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: it worked, he would have been changing it out. In
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: other words, only one of those two things can be true.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: I just know I don't know how to what capacity
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: he actually thought it would work. I think he thought
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: that they would survive the year. I don't think he
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: ever imagined it would get as bad as it did,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: especially for Mac. I agree. But what makes me even
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: crazier though, is, Okay, let's say he thought it could work,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: why do you want to change the offense on top
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: of that? Right, that's just making it work. You're going
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: to just do a placeholder? Why? Yeah? Again, it's the
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: only guy on the planet that can completely f up
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: and be credited for doing it on purpose. And that's
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: and then to point, like, you know, a lot of
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: the other stuff that you can say about like Bill
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: screwed that up. I mean, there's plenty of things. Oh
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: he screwed up Brady at the end, Like, but all
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: those things are somewhat nebulous, like yeah, but you know,
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: but Brady didn't really you know, like I agree, But
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: this is this is a concrete, maybe the first example
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: that is undeniable that he doesn't messed up, Like you know,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: I mean, the whole universe accept me thought it couldn't work.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: I mean I didn't kind of believe. I think I
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: just had my head in the sand of like he
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: couldn't make a decision. I was hopeful. Yeah, I think
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: changing the offense was because these I was the only
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: one the coaches they had I couldn't understand. So then
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: you paint yourself into a corner and you're like, all right,
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: so I'm gonna do a placeholder, and I all, I
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: think that's right. Changed. They stripped the offense because they
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: needed to be at an elementary level for the guy's
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: running the show. But I thought last year or not,
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: I mean, twenty twenty one, I thought they were easy
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: to defend. That's what everyone told us. But but we're
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: talking about like scheme and language and terminology, not necessarily
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: I see, I'm gonna disagree. I mean, maybe the concepts
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: are simpler with what they tried to change too, but
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: the fact that they had to change to that means
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: you have to start over. I don't care if the
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: concepts were simpler. In the terminology, it's about it's about
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: teaching it though, well yeah, I guess, but yeah, I guess,
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: you know, and Judge wasn't here. Yeah. So one of
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: one of the biggest things that they changed was the
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: way that they blocked things up front. The protection schemes.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: So the Patriots for years had a dual read system,
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: meaning that you're reading sometimes two different players and that
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: you have to kind of figure out Okay, what are
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: the keys, what are their tendencies, what are all these
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: other intricacy things, so that we can stay a step
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: ahead while also doing that. They took that out. So
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: now they got to the line of scrimmage, they had
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: one call. They hiked the football and if they weren't
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: ready to, if they weren't pointed in the right direction
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: to block it, and then was it? Then why were
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: guys like I know, but like then you have guys
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: just rushing free to the past or earlier in the season,
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: you know, right, because they had no ability really to
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: adjust on the fly to the picture the defense was
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: showing them, whether it's post nap or before the ball
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: was snaped. So they come to the line of scrimmage,
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: they're calling the protection, this is it, this is it
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: post snap? And if this happens, then I saw more
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: confusion this year than I did any other year, and
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: it was supposed to be simple. I think I think
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: the confusion stem from the fact that the players on
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: the field were saying, one, we never talked about this,
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: like they sent this blitz and we've never seen this
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: blitz before in our in any film study, or any
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: meeting room or anything. Like that. And number two, I
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: think there were a lot of players. I won't name names,
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: but there are a lot of players that I know
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: for a fact. We're frustrated by the fact that last year,
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one, I mean, this would have gotten blocked,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: but this year it's not getting blocked because we're not
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: doing it the same way anymore. I think that that
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: was a big part of the frustration. I mean, the
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: idea that I have to make my offense simpler because
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: of my coaches, that's for the team that makes it
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: makes no sense. And I think that and I'm not
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: disagreeing with whatever said. This is stuff that I talked
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: about all offseason. I think they did changing for the coaches,
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: and I think that's why Ivan Fiers was around as
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: much as he was in quote unquote retirement, because he
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: was the one voice that could actually help them a
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: little bit. But if there was the plan all along
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: to have this be a one years stop gap, that
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: makes the decision to change things schematically even worse, right,
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: That's why I don't believe it. Yeah, and I think
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: someone should be fired if that's really what they would.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: You know what, We're gonna take these two guys one's
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: defense or one special teams, and we're gonna change the
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: offense completely, but it's only gonna be for a year. Mac,
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: don't worry about it. We're gonna go right back to
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: the old offense when we get Billy O'Brien next year.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: Like it, that's a lot of bad decisions in one
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: and like we we have no idea. You know, we've
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: talked about this a lot, like we know, like the
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: tip of the iceberg, we don't really know what goes on,
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: but for all we know, like last year, Bill mentioned, yeah,
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to get Bill O'Brien. Then he finds
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: out that he can't or like you know, Saban really
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: doesn't want to let him go, and maybe the Crafts
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: were like, I don't care what Saban thinks, go poach him.
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: Maybe Bill Yo didn't want to leave last maybe, but
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: maybe the Crafts like, I don't just go get him
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: if you if you think he's gonna help us, go
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: get him. And then Bill makes this thing up, Well, no,
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: I got a better idea we can use. I got
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: a better idea actually, you know, so I don't know,
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: like they can't have them run the regular offense because
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: they don't know it. So we're gonna try to have
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: them implement another offense that they don't know is, yeah,
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: it's reading a play the Bill Brian playbook. I actually
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: got my hands on the twenty eleven playbook. It's like
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: the Da Vinci Code, and like if you don't, like
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: if you do, if you weren't raised in that, like
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: if you don't know it like the back of your
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: hand like Josh McDaniels did, for example. I mean, they
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: have protections that and they're just pages and pages and
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: pages and protections and they just get to the line
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: of scrimmage and most of their base protections are numbered.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: It's all numbered, so most of their base protections are
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: the seven in the seventies. So those get to the
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: line of scrimmage and they'll just say seventy four and
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: and everybody involved is just supposed to know everything about
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: what seventy four means. And like if you don't know,
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: like if you don't, if you can't coach that, if
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: you can't teach that, I don't know how you implemented
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: it in offense. Was it Bill O'Brien's or was it
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: did he inherit it from you know, whoever the predecessor was.
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: So the protection schemes were Dante's. Yeah, okay, and I
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: mean they're awesome, but like you have to like really,
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: I don't. It's it's it's too advanced, Like I don't
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: even know what I'm looking at. Like it's it's too much.
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: It's but there must be a way to teach it,
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: because like not, I don't want to diminish these guys,
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: but they're not brain surgeons. They're football players, so they
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: must there must be a way to teach that so
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: that they remember it and can execute it. I just
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: think that in order for you to be able to
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: teach it, you need to be at that PhD level,
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: Like you need to be right the smartest people can
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: make the you know and understand right, you need to
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: be the smartest guy in the room. Yeah. I don't
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: know if the coaches were, Okay, it's it's just for me.
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: It's just it shines a whole new light on what
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: we watched in training camp and how when you came
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: out all those practices you felt like they didn't really
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: accomplish much. Today, they didn't really feel like they knew
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: what they were doing. They didn't practice with purpose, they
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: didn't get things done, and that's and that's the case.
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: Karen's thing ten. For me, it was all about understanding
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: what I was listening to with all of the comments
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: and where they were coming from, the frustration that it
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: was like born from. All Right, we gotta go. It's
