- 0:40Speaker 1: doing at the bootleg cab podcast, man. Much love. Let's
- 0:43Speaker 1: get into the interview. Yo bootleg cab show, man. We
- 0:49Speaker 1: got a special guest in here. One of the hottest
- 0:51Speaker 1: designers in the game just came off of a very
- 0:54Speaker 1: successful complex con where he debuted his first collaboration with Nike. Yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 1: J Tips in the building. Welcome, welcome, man. Thank you
- 1:02Speaker 1: for having me, brother.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Appreciate it, man.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yes, sir. For people who don't know, man, obviously you
- 1:06Speaker 1: have been killing it for some years now. I first
- 1:09Speaker 1: met you at, you had a dope activation at NBA Con,
- 1:13Speaker 1: which was the only time they did it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, only time.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But it was cool.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah, only time.
- 1:18Speaker 3: And then they got, they pretty much did something and
- 1:20Speaker 3: it turned into Fanatics Fest pretty much.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It's essentially what happened. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, man, so
- 1:25Speaker 1: for people who don't know, obviously you kind of had
- 1:27Speaker 1: like gotten into the game through hats, right? Yeah. So
- 1:30Speaker 1: kind of walk me through because the hat game is
- 1:33Speaker 1: another thing where it's like there's so many people who
- 1:36Speaker 1: do like fly hat designs and you'll see people collabing
- 1:38Speaker 1: with with lids or hat club or whatever. So you
- 1:42Speaker 1: end up getting into the hat game. What was kind
- 1:44Speaker 1: of like the genesis of you, I guess, being a
- 1:47Speaker 1: designer and like getting noticed?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy how you started off with mentioning like
- 1:52Speaker 3: the I just debuted my first Nike because that's technically
- 1:55Speaker 3: how I got started.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I was like.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Doing the focus groups. In New York, they would have
- 2:00Speaker 3: focus groups sign up for a $ 50 gift card, but
- 2:04Speaker 3: Nike will show you some future product on tables and
- 2:07Speaker 3: get your opinions and things. What I did, I just
- 2:10Speaker 3: always stayed in touch with people, but then I had
- 2:13Speaker 3: designed this custom Nike. It went a little viral online.
- 2:17Speaker 3: People thought it was coming out, thought it was a
- 2:19Speaker 3: real thing. I was, I started making hats to like
- 2:24Speaker 3: promote my, cause I was making music. I was promoting like,
- 2:26Speaker 3: you know, my mixtape at the time.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You were rapping, right? Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Trying to get a little. Same name? Traction.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah. J-Tips. Okay.
- 2:31Speaker 3: So trying to get a little bit of traction online.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And I walked into Hat Club and Hat Club was,
- 2:38Speaker 3: at that time I was probably just selling hats to
- 2:40Speaker 3: like people that knew who I was.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Hat Club was like, they recognized the Nike. They seen
- 2:44Speaker 3: it online. They thought it was cool what I did
- 2:46Speaker 3: with color.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So.
- 2:47Speaker 3: If I ever wanted to do anything with them, I
- 2:49Speaker 3: couldn't put on no logos. I couldn't do anything crazy,
- 2:52Speaker 3: but I could maybe drop some hats, bless some people,
- 2:55Speaker 3: do a little friends and family pop-up.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That was around COVID. So at that time, everybody was home. Everybody.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So when the hat club stuff finally hit the internet,
- 3:05Speaker 3: I guess it was just stuff that people had never
- 3:07Speaker 3: seen before.
- 3:07Speaker 2: So they went a little crazy.
- 3:09Speaker 3: And I just went on a little run with that,
- 3:12Speaker 3: just doing little unique colors and doing things. I think
- 3:15Speaker 3: that was just the beginning of me trying to do
- 3:18Speaker 3: stuff I wasn't seeing. As much as I think people
- 3:20Speaker 3: always try to make their favorite teams and make their
- 3:24Speaker 3: favorite logos come to life when they get a chance
- 3:27Speaker 3: to design with these hat stores, I was just trying
- 3:29Speaker 3: to say, what's the stuff I've never seen? I've never
- 3:32Speaker 3: seen this color combination.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I've never seen this. Let me do an LA. Let
- 3:37Speaker 2: me do a New York. Let me do a Tampa.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Let me do this.
- 3:39Speaker 3: It just created that run with Hat Club where I
- 3:42Speaker 3: probably designed maybe 100 hats and that led into.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Um that led into actually sock and he hit me
- 3:50Speaker 3: up for the same reason hat club hit me up
- 3:53Speaker 3: was like yo um it's very rare few people that
- 3:56Speaker 3: could bring this much energy together over like colors and
- 3:59Speaker 3: materials and stuff so if you want to design a
- 4:01Speaker 3: shoe you know let's do it so it's like i
- 4:04Speaker 3: kept getting hit with the same um punch line about
- 4:06Speaker 3: the same thing.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yeah like we see you play with color well.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And at that time man i never knew what that
- 4:11Speaker 3: meant i never knew that maybe i had that ability
- 4:13Speaker 3: to see that eye for like unique different color combinations
- 4:16Speaker 3: and stuff but you know it's been able to do
- 4:19Speaker 3: something for.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Me yeah it's it's crazy too because in a world
- 4:21Speaker 1: in which like um so many of the big people
- 4:26Speaker 1: in pop culture or tastemakers are leaning on like dark
- 4:31Speaker 1: just all black or like just like rusty brown and
- 4:36Speaker 1: it's just refreshing to have the colors come back. It's
- 4:40Speaker 1: like when I was coming up, I remember when Kanye
- 4:42Speaker 1: had pastel and everything was like Pharrell and Billionaire Boys Club.
- 4:48Speaker 1: So I feel like the way you use colors, I
- 4:51Speaker 1: feel like it's also unique for today's like, I guess,
- 4:54Speaker 1: fashion outlook. You know what I'm saying? Everybody's, you know,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I mean, shout out to Travis, but like Travis's shoes
- 4:59Speaker 1: are very like, you're not going to get a.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Lot of color.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Like it's a lot of like,
- 5:04Speaker 1: very chilled out tones yeah i don't know.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I think i just always had like a rebel spirit
- 5:08Speaker 3: man i feel like whenever i used to hang around
- 5:10Speaker 3: like my boys that was in like the fashion industry
- 5:13Speaker 3: or or get a little insights from like people that
- 5:16Speaker 3: work at brands like the decisions are always based around
- 5:19Speaker 3: like we could sell more of these because black like
- 5:22Speaker 3: more people could wear these because they're neutral or earth
- 5:25Speaker 3: tones and right and stuff so i don't know i
- 5:28Speaker 3: just kind of felt like going against the grain it
- 5:30Speaker 3: has to be a community that's waiting for something to
- 5:33Speaker 3: be a.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Started speaking to them.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Right. So how long were you rapping prior to you
- 5:40Speaker 1: getting fully into the designing space?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Since high school. Since high school. So about maybe 13 years, 13,
- 5:45Speaker 2: 14 years.
- 5:46Speaker 1: So you were really active.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah. On the ground in New York City.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Just trying to do SOBs runs and South by Southwests
- 5:54Speaker 3: and things like that. But I think I always was
- 5:57Speaker 3: one of those rappers like Wale- um, stack bundles or something.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Like I always was rapping about clothes in the first place.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I was always like putting in, rapping about like Kid
- 6:07Speaker 3: Robot and Jordans.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Well, you had an album called Hypebeast, right?
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 2: So just, just always talking about fashion.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So I think when I met with like this agency, um,
- 6:19Speaker 3: I'm drawing a blank, but it was my guy.
- 6:20Speaker 2: His name is Roman. I met with him in the city, um,
- 6:24Speaker 2: like in New.
- 6:24Speaker 3: York city, like had to be like 2015. And I
- 6:28Speaker 3: was just talking to him about like how to, do
- 6:31Speaker 3: more opportunities and how to get things going. And he
- 6:33Speaker 3: was like, I needed to market myself a certain kind
- 6:35Speaker 3: of way. I think that was the point where I
- 6:37Speaker 3: was like, you know, music, music is always going to
- 6:40Speaker 3: be the industry that I think that I wanted to
- 6:42Speaker 3: play in the most. But I think when I started
- 6:45Speaker 3: to give some, leave something with someone like a pen
- 6:47Speaker 3: or button or t-shirt, it started to feel like it
- 6:50Speaker 3: was having a better impact on like how to make
- 6:53Speaker 3: a community and fans and, and stuff. So I just
- 6:56Speaker 3: think that every time I was doing anything, a single
- 6:59Speaker 3: trying to put out a video, uh, I would always
- 7:01Speaker 3: try to tie it to something.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Something tangible.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think it gets hard, man. That underground scene,
- 7:07Speaker 2: it gets really tough at times.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It is a grind, bro.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I think it was around 2019, I was putting out
- 7:15Speaker 3: an album called The Savior, and I just made a
- 7:18Speaker 3: whole bunch of merch, and the merch was doing better
- 7:20Speaker 3: than the music was doing. And I had a real
- 7:23Speaker 3: reflective conversation with my homies at Empanada Mama in New
- 7:27Speaker 3: York City, and I was just like, I think I'm
- 7:29Speaker 3: going to put a little bit more money into the clothes.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And I feel like that day was the day that, like.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Things changed.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Everything switched. Like, waking up to.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Mentality switched.
- 7:40Speaker 2: 200 orders, 300 orders.
- 7:41Speaker 3: And it was a little bit tough to get back
- 7:43Speaker 3: in the studio when, you know, all the boxes are
- 7:46Speaker 3: in front of the mic.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I can imagine. For you, obviously, getting the Nike
- 7:53Speaker 1: opportunity as somebody who's a sneakerhead is like... That is
- 7:55Speaker 1: kind of like the... Yeah. I mean, that's the goal, right?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 1: How did Nike approach you? And then kind of walk
- 8:03Speaker 1: me through, because you picked the Air Bacons, which are
- 8:07Speaker 1: not like, I know they just re-dropped the classic colorway,
- 8:11Speaker 1: the OGs, but also not a shoe that most people would.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Kind of go for.
- 8:17Speaker 1: But it's fine. The way you flipped it was crazy.
- 8:20Speaker 1: But how did the Nike situation come up? And then
- 8:24Speaker 1: walk me through just the sneaker.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you know, transparently, man, I was, you know,
- 8:30Speaker 3: I was on a really, really crazy run with Saucony.
- 8:34Speaker 3: You know, we were just dropping shoes after shoes.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Killing it, too. Sneaker of the year contenders, like, back
- 8:39Speaker 1: to back. Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Like, every three, four months, it felt like I was
- 8:42Speaker 3: at least showing something new or fresh on the internet. But,
- 8:46Speaker 3: you know, we got to the point, kind of what
- 8:49Speaker 3: I got with headwear.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Same thing I did with, like, Hat Club and New Era,
- 8:52Speaker 2: where it's like, you know, I think there's a.
- 8:56Speaker 3: A moment in every partnership where it's like, you're either
- 8:58Speaker 3: going to invest or you're going to exploit.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:00Speaker 3: And I felt like, um, what's happening, I really, really
- 9:03Speaker 3: wanted to lock in something like longterm. And I really
- 9:06Speaker 3: wanted to make it about like night, not just sweat equity.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Like I didn't want it to only feel like, you know,
- 9:11Speaker 3: when we drop shoes is the only time.
- 9:13Speaker 2: We don't make noise. Like what's something bigger, what's something
- 9:16Speaker 2: more that we can do. And, um, we were trying
- 9:18Speaker 2: to get there.
- 9:18Speaker 3: We was trying to like lock in like a longterm
- 9:22Speaker 3: contract and let, you know, a lot of, a lot,
- 9:25Speaker 3: you know, they offered me a lot of different things
- 9:27Speaker 3: trying to get to where we were going and around
- 9:29Speaker 3: like 2024, during Art Basel, Nike asked if I wanted
- 9:35Speaker 3: to have a conversation, pick my brain about some stuff.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I should have known when it was super top secret.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Like, man, it was like they rented out pretty much
- 9:43Speaker 3: like a floor in a hotel and it was like
- 9:45Speaker 3: a boardroom of like 20 people and just everybody asking
- 9:49Speaker 3: me questions and everybody just seeing like what I had
- 9:52Speaker 3: going on and And, you know, just.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Chopped it up.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Like, I told him I had a few more sock
- 9:57Speaker 3: and he's coming out and, um, you know, I'm potentially
- 10:00Speaker 3: about to sign a long-term deal and doing a few things.
- 10:03Speaker 3: And man, uh, you know, a few months, a few
- 10:05Speaker 3: months later, they, you know, they offered me an opportunity. Um,
- 10:08Speaker 3: you know, it took me a few months to really,
- 10:10Speaker 3: really sit on it, figure out what I wanted to do.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And it's crazy. Cause that's a, It's a Nike opportunity.
- 10:15Speaker 1: No, I know. But I mean, you had a really
- 10:16Speaker 1: good thing going. You had a great thing going.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Playing all the pros and cons, playing everything out, trying
- 10:21Speaker 3: to really see what we really wanted to do. And
- 10:25Speaker 3: also just kind of getting into that space of like,
- 10:28Speaker 3: you know, if there ever was a time to really
- 10:31Speaker 3: shock people and shock myself and see what else is
- 10:34Speaker 3: out there for me.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Then, you know, this could be it.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You already know, baby, our family at Odd Socks. They
- 10:41Speaker 1: have been rocking with the Bootleg Head podcast since day one.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And listen, man, the basics have been killing it. All right.

- 10:49Speaker 1: tube socks, black, white, whatever it is, Odd Socks basics.
- 10:53Speaker 1: These are the most comfortable socks that you will ever
- 10:55Speaker 1: put on your feet. And I've been saying that for years.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And I mean, it's the only socks I wear, the
- 10:59Speaker 1: only socks in my house. And Obviously, there's competing brands
- 11:05Speaker 1: that you might be used to wearing the white tube socks. Listen,
- 11:09Speaker 1: not only are these better, they're more affordable and they're
- 11:12Speaker 1: more comfortable. And when I say more affordable, I'm not playing.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You could get yourself a six pack just like this
- 11:17Speaker 1: for only $ 16. 99. And the good thing about Odd Socks,
- 11:21Speaker 1: they now got the subscription service too. So if you
- 11:23Speaker 1: just want fresh, clean socks delivered every single month, they'll

- 11:46Speaker 1: everybody who gets these socks, hit me like, yo, tell
- 11:49Speaker 1: Odd Socks we need a new box. The basics, the basics,
- 11:51Speaker 1: the basics, all right? Oddsocks.com. Use the promo code BOOTLAG.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Save 20% off. Let's get back into the interview.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Like, you know, we were talking, we was on like
- 11:58Speaker 2: shoot 13, shoot 14. For sure. In three years, so.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I think I weighed those cons and they offered me
- 12:06Speaker 3: the project for this upcoming season and we figured out how.
- 12:10Speaker 2: To get there. It shook the world up a little bit.
- 12:15Speaker 3: When we started sitting down, I had a wish list
- 12:18Speaker 3: of shoes that I would love to work on and
- 12:21Speaker 3: they showed me a few different things.
- 12:23Speaker 2: They showed me foam posits. I think it was the
- 12:26Speaker 2: Vince Carters.
- 12:27Speaker 3: They showed me a few different things and then I
- 12:30Speaker 3: had some stuff that i really wanted to do like
- 12:32Speaker 3: i wanted to do an air force i wanted to
- 12:33Speaker 3: do um like a tim duncan i wanted to do
- 12:37Speaker 3: a few different things that i had nostalgia on and
- 12:39Speaker 3: those duncans are slept on yeah but i also knew
- 12:43Speaker 3: that i mean i'm coming in and they're probably gonna
- 12:45Speaker 3: want me to do something that is not an easy
- 12:48Speaker 3: layup because everything in sockney i was working on was
- 12:51Speaker 3: was something that was a little unknown and i was
- 12:54Speaker 3: pretty much giving it its its cachet and now people
- 12:57Speaker 3: are knowing how to say the name right. And people
- 13:00Speaker 3: are knowing these silhouette names and stuff like that. So when,
- 13:03Speaker 3: you know, it was crazy because it was like, we
- 13:05Speaker 3: want to show you one more thing. And they pulled
- 13:08Speaker 3: out the bacon low out of like a brown paper bag.
- 13:11Speaker 3: And it was like, this is something we're trying to
- 13:14Speaker 3: bring back out, something we're trying to finalize. And I
- 13:17Speaker 3: think as soon as I seen it, I was like,
- 13:19Speaker 3: this feels like, Something that reminded me of stuff I
- 13:22Speaker 3: was working at at SOC, and it got a lot
- 13:24Speaker 3: of potential.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that red with those, like, yellow laces. It's like a... Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Even if you didn't have them as a kid, you
- 13:31Speaker 1: remember the ad in the Source or the XXL.
- 13:33Speaker 2: You know what I mean? With that shoe on there.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Like, it didn't feel like it's been, like, overkilled in
- 13:37Speaker 2: the market in a hundred.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Not at all.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Million colors and stuff like that. So, I was like,
- 13:40Speaker 3: you know what? Let's try to work on this one.
- 13:44Speaker 3: And we, you know, we here now.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Nah, it's crazy. How has the feedback... Because, obviously... You know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: now all of the sneakerheads follow you. I'm sure Wale's
- 13:54Speaker 1: tapped in. Like, have you gotten any, like, feedback from
- 13:56Speaker 1: anybody that's been kind of crazy on the first shoot
- 13:58Speaker 1: with Nike?
- 13:59Speaker 2: No, it's been, you know, it's crazy.
- 14:00Speaker 3: It's been overwhelming, like, last few days, just seeing, like,
- 14:03Speaker 3: all the comments and all the blogs. I haven't really
- 14:05Speaker 3: caught up on everything, but.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And people actually walking up to you, I'm sure, at ComplexCon. Yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Yeah, walking up, just looking, taking pictures and stuff. Because
- 14:12Speaker 3: it's very rare when you see a new shoe for
- 14:14Speaker 3: the first time.
- 14:14Speaker 1: 100%.
- 14:15Speaker 2: So, like, everybody's trying to find me so they can
- 14:17Speaker 2: just take a picture on their phone.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah, what's on your feet.
- 14:19Speaker 3: See how they feel about it and things. But, man,
- 14:21Speaker 3: I think, you know, Ronnie Fogg, owner of Kiff, he
- 14:24Speaker 3: put some flames on Twitter. Westside Gun, he texted me privately.
- 14:28Speaker 3: He told me he was proud of me and stuff.
- 14:30Speaker 3: You know, just because, you know, that's somebody from behind
- 14:34Speaker 3: the scenes. We've always just, like. supported each other like
- 14:38Speaker 3: would just it doesn't have to be like long form
- 14:41Speaker 3: like yo bro like this and that it's just like
- 14:43Speaker 3: you know it's just see you keep going and things
- 14:45Speaker 3: so that was privately and just everything else probably just
- 14:48Speaker 3: got to catch up but it's i learned this from
- 14:50Speaker 3: hats though man when you post on fire on the
- 14:52Speaker 3: internet the world gonna tell you because everybody gonna start
- 14:54Speaker 3: asking for.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It yeah you'll know when they start asking like yo
- 14:56Speaker 1: yo i need a 12 Otherwise, have you ever posted
- 15:00Speaker 1: some shit that you were like, no one's hitting me
- 15:01Speaker 1: for this. It might be a mess.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:03Speaker 1: All the time.
- 15:04Speaker 2: All the time, man. You got to keep shooting.
- 15:07Speaker 3: If people think that everything you drop is going to
- 15:09Speaker 3: be the hit, it's just like music. The fashion game
- 15:14Speaker 3: is kind of just like music in a way that
- 15:15Speaker 3: you may have a whole album full of things.
- 15:17Speaker 1: You believe in, but maybe it's one or two.
- 15:20Speaker 3: That people really believe in or picking up some traction.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And you got to keep shooting. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 3: So, like, with my brand, man, like, as much as
- 15:27Speaker 3: people see the shoes and they see the hats, it's
- 15:29Speaker 3: probably every, like, one out of 20 things that people
- 15:32Speaker 3: are really like, like, no, I need this. But, you know,
- 15:34Speaker 3: that's how you keep going, keep firing.
- 15:37Speaker 1: 100%. For you, has there been, like, anybody who's been, like,
- 15:41Speaker 1: a mentor or somebody who's, like, kind of just, like,
- 15:44Speaker 1: been a big homie in the fashion game that's, like,
- 15:47Speaker 1: kind of, like, been unexpected for you?
- 15:50Speaker 2: Oh, definitely.
- 15:51Speaker 3: If you're familiar with the brand Amaneer.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, the owner, James Wittner, he's super solid, man. He's
- 16:01Speaker 3: like one of those people that you meet that's always like,
- 16:04Speaker 3: you know, if there's anything, is there anything you need,
- 16:06Speaker 3: call me.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Make me the first call. I got you.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And just talking game, like even through like some of
- 16:12Speaker 3: like contract stuff on both sides, like he was always
- 16:15Speaker 3: the person that I could throw a little like hit
- 16:19Speaker 3: at and just ask one question and it just– it
- 16:22Speaker 3: changes the whole way you.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Look at everything.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Because you do meet a lot of people in this
- 16:27Speaker 3: game that when they see you, they offer help.
- 16:29Speaker 2: They be like, yo, we got a link. We got
- 16:31Speaker 2: to be homies. We got to be bros. This industry
- 16:34Speaker 2: is tight. But you don't really ever, that don't happen
- 16:36Speaker 2: until you see him again.
- 16:37Speaker 3: But he's a dude that'll just call you Saturday morning,
- 16:40Speaker 3: 9 a.m., and just make sure your business is straight
- 16:42Speaker 3: and stuff.
- 16:43Speaker 2: So I always appreciate him.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Tell me for you, because I feel like a lot
- 16:49Speaker 1: of brands, they get to a point where, I always
- 16:53Speaker 1: say they hit zoomies.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 1: You might know what I mean by that.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, no, you already know.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It's like shit will be hot and it's super exclusive
- 17:02Speaker 1: or it's super in and then for whatever reason when
- 17:05Speaker 1: it hits a certain level of, like I think when
- 17:07Speaker 1: I was a little kid, I remember when like LRG
- 17:10Speaker 1: was in Dillard's and I was like, dang, LRG's in Dillard's?
- 17:13Speaker 2: This is crazy.
- 17:16Speaker 1: How do you like walk that fine line of like
- 17:19Speaker 1: making sure savior worldwide has its prestige but also is
- 17:24Speaker 1: like accessible without I guess kind of you're a streetwear
- 17:28Speaker 1: guy so you kind of know we've seen it with
- 17:29Speaker 1: like Brooks and Castles and 10 deep and all these
- 17:32Speaker 1: brands like like how do you kind of and are
- 17:34Speaker 1: you conscious of.
- 17:35Speaker 3: That yeah no I'm conscious of it every day man
- 17:38Speaker 3: I think those same stories you just mentioned are like
- 17:42Speaker 3: horror stories for brands because I think you get into
- 17:46Speaker 3: situations where where it's almost like that check that comes
- 17:52Speaker 3: with those stores that, you know, like it's pretty much
- 17:55Speaker 3: going to dilute your brand and stuff. Sometimes it's like
- 17:58Speaker 3: life changing. Sometimes it's life changing for somebody to cut
- 18:01Speaker 3: you 10 million, 5 million upfront, but now they want
- 18:04Speaker 3: to carry stuff in 10,000 stores, 5,000 stores.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I just think it's a.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Part of the game. That's a luxury for you to
- 18:11Speaker 3: be able to still operate how you want to operate
- 18:14Speaker 3: it and put it in front of the people that you,
- 18:17Speaker 3: you deem as cool and, and, the complex con levels
- 18:21Speaker 3: and just the kiffs and stuff like that because you
- 18:24Speaker 3: want to stay in that social circle over that big,
- 18:28Speaker 3: big payday where it's like you may lose a little
- 18:31Speaker 3: bit of cool, but the pocket's going to be fat.
- 18:33Speaker 3: So I think that's just a marriage that you really,
- 18:35Speaker 3: really got to walk that thin line on. Do you
- 18:38Speaker 3: want to explode and do you want to be at
- 18:41Speaker 3: every mall in America? Because the house is going to
- 18:43Speaker 3: be bigger, the car is going to be bigger, but
- 18:46Speaker 3: you know, like, you're going to lose relevance in these conversations.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like your run might be a lot shorter. Yeah. Like,
- 18:51Speaker 1: it's a short-sighted thing. It's like, if you think, like,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you brought up Kith, like, Kith is here forever. Yeah.
- 18:56Speaker 1: At least it's, you know, I couldn't imagine going to
- 18:58Speaker 1: fucking the mall and, like, finding Kith, like, retail.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's one example of somebody that's been able
- 19:04Speaker 3: to operate his business for a long time, no wholesale. Like,
- 19:08Speaker 3: there's no, like, stores like Kith and Supreme, there's no
- 19:12Speaker 3: store in America that you're going to walk in and then,
- 19:14Speaker 3: they're carrying them outside of their own doors, unless it's
- 19:18Speaker 3: a retail.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Right, you got to go to their spot, for sure.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah, which has.
- 19:22Speaker 3: To be hard, man, because somebody want to cut you
- 19:25Speaker 3: a little bit of check, that little bit of money
- 19:28Speaker 3: is always extra to do some stuff.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So let me ask you this. Talk to me about
- 19:35Speaker 1: Nike in general. I feel like there's been a lot
- 19:38Speaker 1: of conversation about the Nike stock being at an all-time low.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I just saw that Jordan had came back out and said,
- 19:45Speaker 1: that they're going to go back to, like, I guess
- 19:49Speaker 1: not putting out as many of each colorway. I've kind
- 19:52Speaker 1: of loved the last couple of years because I actually
- 19:54Speaker 1: like to wear shoes.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:55Speaker 1: And, like, I buy shoes to wear them and not to, like,
- 19:58Speaker 1: flip them.
- 19:59Speaker 2: It feels like growing up. Like, we could go get
- 20:00Speaker 2: the stuff we want.
- 20:01Speaker 1: 100%. Like, the Royal Ones, like, are at retail. Like... So...
- 20:08Speaker 1: For you, what do you kind of think is, because
- 20:11Speaker 1: I feel like bringing guys like yourself on board, and
- 20:13Speaker 1: I think, obviously, Nike's Nike. It's always going to be Nike, but,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I mean, you're a sneakerhead, and you are somebody who
- 20:21Speaker 1: is a consumer as well as a designer.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 1: What do you think is, like, the secret sauce for
- 20:28Speaker 1: Nike to kind of, like, I guess, I wouldn't say, like,
- 20:31Speaker 1: get back, because they're on top, but, like, in terms
- 20:33Speaker 1: of just, like, I guess the kids are a little
- 20:37Speaker 1: disconnected with Nike right.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Now, too.
- 20:40Speaker 3: I think, in all honesty, I think that fashion has
- 20:45Speaker 3: changed so much. It's so analytical. It's such an alignment.
- 20:51Speaker 3: People are always trying to align with the best doors,
- 20:53Speaker 3: the best places. I do think that a few years
- 20:57Speaker 3: ago before, of course, I joined. I think when a
- 21:01Speaker 3: lot of the mom and pop shops stopped carrying Nike shoes.
- 21:06Speaker 3: And when it was only in the big retailers and
- 21:09Speaker 3: stuff like that, I think it gave a lot of
- 21:10Speaker 3: room for the other brands to create relevance and start
- 21:16Speaker 3: growing their fan bases and stuff because these stores needed
- 21:18Speaker 3: to start selling other things. And I think Nike, I
- 21:22Speaker 3: think they gave people a lot of area for them
- 21:25Speaker 3: to grow. It's kind of like if the headliner doesn't
- 21:27Speaker 3: show up, now you got to enjoy all the other
- 21:29Speaker 3: artists performing it. So I just think it's kind of
- 21:31Speaker 3: just getting back to the essence. I think getting back
- 21:34Speaker 3: to really being in the communities and really showing up
- 21:38Speaker 3: in places that are familiar instead of like only Rodeo
- 21:42Speaker 3: and stuff like that. Sometimes people miss going to the
- 21:44Speaker 3: neighborhood shop and still having good stuff and not only
- 21:48Speaker 3: limited on the apps and things.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yo, that's why I've loved it because I feel like
- 21:53Speaker 1: we were saying, it's just like there's been some, fucking
- 21:57Speaker 1: dope sneakers that have dropped that like if they would
- 21:59Speaker 1: have dropped five years ago yeah you wouldn't be able
- 22:01Speaker 1: to get your hands on no 100 and now they're
- 22:03Speaker 1: readily available and sometimes most of the time below retail.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah yeah you know i.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Also think shopping trends too man that people are shopping
- 22:10Speaker 3: differently people are shopping more online people want easy things
- 22:15Speaker 3: people are more in target people.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Love running shoes the running shoe wave is i mean
- 22:19Speaker 1: and you obviously have some very successful.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Running yes Yeah, that retro running era that all the
- 22:25Speaker 3: brands are really thriving in is a special time. And
- 22:29Speaker 3: I think Nike has, I think during that time, all
- 22:32Speaker 3: these retro running companies were really getting their foot in,
- 22:36Speaker 3: like Saucony, Asics, New Balance, and all that stuff.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I think Nike was still killing it with the basketball shoes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And now they got, like, the Vimeros are dope, obviously.
- 22:44Speaker 1: The Vimeros had a wave, you know what I'm saying?
- 22:46Speaker 2: I got Vimeros right now. Vimeros are super comfortable.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Oh, those are the best. Whoa, what are those?
- 22:51Speaker 2: It's the Doernbecher. Oh, those are crazy. Yeah, no, these
- 22:54Speaker 2: are cool. I think they went a little under the radar.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Oh, those are crazy. Scoop these.
- 22:58Speaker 2: These are crazy.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy because I feel like that and then
- 23:01Speaker 1: like even like obviously Jordan and Nike are separate, but
- 23:03Speaker 1: they're owned by the Nike owns Jordan. But I think
- 23:07Speaker 1: with the Jordan thing, it's almost like figuring out like
- 23:12Speaker 1: how to get the kids to be as excited as
- 23:14Speaker 1: like the 40-year-old dudes. Because I'm like, dog. I'm super, like,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I think recently, like, this past weekend, the Black Pack dropped.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yeah, those are crazy.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Those are crazy. Yeah. Those 16s sold out everywhere.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But the 14s were, like, so crazy. Yeah.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I also think even that, man. We grew up, like,
- 23:37Speaker 2: loving random just drops, random names, random stuff. But I
- 23:42Speaker 2: think the kids... They're into different things, man. Into streaming.
- 23:45Speaker 2: They want comfort. They're in school all day.
- 23:48Speaker 1: You see kids outside wearing slides. I was that complex
- 23:51Speaker 1: kind of kid who was wearing the puffy slides with
- 23:54Speaker 1: the fucking toenails on.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Them and shit.
- 23:56Speaker 1: It's definitely a different era. Everyone's wearing the really baggy sweats.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Baggy sweats, yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 1: It's definitely a comfy... The comfy era is here.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Man, when I was in school, people would get bullied
- 24:07Speaker 3: if they weren't having the right footwear on. And now
- 24:10Speaker 3: kids would wear just a a bear shoe with.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Claws on it.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Bro, and some PJ pants.
- 24:15Speaker 2: PJs and stuff like that.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And an Essentials t-shirt or something.
- 24:18Speaker 2: So I think that's also, I don't think that's Nike's fault.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I don't think that's anybody's fault.
- 24:22Speaker 1: No, it's not. It's definitely not.
- 24:23Speaker 2: People are more, you know, they're not zoned in on
- 24:27Speaker 2: one thing.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Well, like those slides, they dropped those ID slides. Them
- 24:30Speaker 1: bitches sold out.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Still, every time they come out.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Every time they drop, they're out of here. And it's like,
- 24:34Speaker 1: and I see the kids, bro. You know, my son
- 24:36Speaker 1: plays AAU, so we'd be around a bunch of, financially
- 24:40Speaker 1: astute teenagers, and they all got them fucking shoes on.
- 24:43Speaker 1: So I think, like, I think leaning into the comfort shit,
- 24:45Speaker 1: and then for us, like, the Jordan heads, it's like,
- 24:48Speaker 1: I'm just happy. I'm like, yep, I'll take those. I'll
- 24:52Speaker 1: take those.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Jordan's killing it, man.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Even on the collaboration side, like, the Nigel stuff, Free
- 24:57Speaker 3: the Youth stuff, you know, I think Jordan, the Jordan
- 25:02Speaker 3: brand has a good way to, like, amplify, like, their
- 25:05Speaker 3: drops and stuff like that. And also the stuff that
- 25:07Speaker 3: we love that Like, I love that I can go
- 25:09Speaker 3: buy a pair of Chrome 8s right now from anywhere
- 25:11Speaker 3: in L.A. or Aquas a few months ago.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Yeah, even like those, what were the 5s that were
- 25:17Speaker 1: just sitting everywhere? They were white with the chrome accents.
- 25:20Speaker 1: They were just sitting everywhere for like three months. And
- 25:23Speaker 1: I'm like, this is a dope shoe.
- 25:24Speaker 2: It's a good shoe, yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 1: It's like a good sneaker. Yeah. And then all of like,
- 25:28Speaker 1: even the OG colorways. Yeah. It's like the Space Jam 9s.
- 25:31Speaker 1: You go get the Space Jam 9s. Yeah. You know?
- 25:34Speaker 2: It's crazy that they're calling them Space Jam 9s.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It is crazy because that never happened. They never were
- 25:39Speaker 1: calling them the Space Jam 9s until now with the
- 25:42Speaker 1: Toon Squad box.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I'm like, okay. Just because he had them on in there.
- 25:47Speaker 2: A little re-rocking.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Yeah, the re-rock. I ain't mad at it, though. I
- 25:49Speaker 1: ain't mad at it. If you could work on a
- 25:53Speaker 1: dream silhouette, obviously Air Force, I feel like, is a signature. Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 1: shoe everybody would like to work on because it's such
- 25:59Speaker 1: a great canvas.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like a white t-shirt.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It's like a white tee. Outside of an Air Force,
- 26:04Speaker 1: what are some other silhouettes that you would just really
- 26:06Speaker 1: love to.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Man, I love to work on the Tim Duncans. I
- 26:10Speaker 2: love to work on.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Those Tim Duncans are... Those silver ones were crazy.
- 26:13Speaker 2: The whole bubble on the bottom?
- 26:14Speaker 3: I think I definitely can do something fly, some fly colorways.
- 26:18Speaker 3: I would love to work on, like, Vimeros.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I love to work on.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I do think that the one thing that I've been
- 26:24Speaker 3: a little insecure about Going into now people see my shoe,
- 26:27Speaker 3: it's a retro basketball shoe. There's a lot of people
- 26:32Speaker 3: that was really supporting me on running stuff. So I
- 26:35Speaker 3: think I love to feed that community.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like, oh, yeah, we like those, but come on, man,
- 26:39Speaker 1: give us something.
- 26:41Speaker 2: So I love to do that. And I think also Barclays.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I think I love Barclays.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I think I love... What's another shoe that I would
- 26:50Speaker 3: love to... And I think if Jordan... If there was
- 26:53Speaker 3: ever an opportunity to work on some Jordan product, like
- 26:55Speaker 3: your Jordan 16, Lowe's, 18s, 19s.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Oh, you're going after me.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Even 20s.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that was a good era for me, man. I
- 27:02Speaker 3: used to love like, because I felt like that era
- 27:04Speaker 3: in shoes, people were starting to fade a little bit.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Like they started to wear like.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I feel like the 17 is the last Jordan that
- 27:12Speaker 1: I really was like, because that was the Wizards one. Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Came in a suitcase.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I feel like any of the Jordans after he stopped playing. Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I couldn't even tell you what a 20 looks like.
- 27:24Speaker 2: The 20 got the strap with hieroglyphics on the front.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, those were cool.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Those were different, but they were cool.
- 27:33Speaker 3: But I do think that around that time, Nike started
- 27:36Speaker 3: really going harder, or Jordan started going harder with the retro.
- 27:39Speaker 2: So people were still.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Wearing nines and 11s and things when the new numbers
- 27:43Speaker 3: were coming out. I used to just love the retro.
- 27:47Speaker 3: the first day of school new jordans man 20s.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I now i close my eyes and just think of
- 27:51Speaker 1: mellow wearing them yeah yeah yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 3: So i there's a lot of stuff that i would
- 27:55Speaker 3: love to get my hands on but you know it's
- 27:57Speaker 3: it's a it's a journey to get to all that
- 28:00Speaker 3: stuff man.
- 28:00Speaker 1: What about if you were to put together your personal
- 28:03Speaker 1: favorite uh nikes or jordans top five obviously you're a
- 28:08Speaker 1: huge sneaker head so just not something you'd want to
- 28:11Speaker 1: design just your personal favorite yeah Man.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I think I've always loved the Air Max 1s, the
- 28:18Speaker 3: Air Force 1s. It's a shoe called the Wolven Footscape
- 28:22Speaker 3: I always love. I used to just, when I started
- 28:26Speaker 3: running the streets reselling shoes and being in the complex
- 28:31Speaker 3: cons and stuff, it was always a really comfortable shoe.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Air Jordan 17, of course. It doesn't get as much
- 28:39Speaker 3: love as it used to get back.
- 28:40Speaker 2: In the day, but the Jordan 11, man.
- 28:41Speaker 3: The Jordan 11... was like the greatest shoe of all
- 28:45Speaker 3: time until it just got super oversaturated.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah, like the Brett 11s. I mean, come on, man.
- 28:51Speaker 1: The Columbia 11s, the Brett 11s. Those are shoes you
- 28:55Speaker 1: would cry for as a kid. Yeah, those were like,
- 28:58Speaker 1: it's funny because like that was the shoe that like,
- 29:00Speaker 1: I'm 39, so like that's a shoe that like around
- 29:04Speaker 1: the age where I was like, because like when I, bro,
- 29:08Speaker 1: I wasn't, really like paying attention to shoes when the
- 29:11Speaker 1: threes were a thing i think i might have been
- 29:13Speaker 1: barely i'm born in 87 you know what i'm saying
- 29:15Speaker 1: so it's like but the 11s were kind of like
- 29:17Speaker 1: the 10s and the 11s i specifically remember as a
- 29:20Speaker 1: kid being like dang because then obviously the 11s he
- 29:23Speaker 1: wore like this space jam 11s you know what i'm
- 29:25Speaker 1: saying but yeah i think the 11 it has been
- 29:30Speaker 1: like you said it's it's kind of it's it's it's
- 29:33Speaker 1: become the like christmas shoe.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Yeah Like if I seen somebody at Complex Con and
- 29:39Speaker 3: like a bread, bread 11 right now, I'll probably look
- 29:41Speaker 3: at them like, that's just like a Nike, you look
- 29:44Speaker 3: like a Nike poster. Like you just look like, uh,
- 29:48Speaker 3: you just look like a stand, like what you call
- 29:50Speaker 3: like a standard generic sneaker.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel that way when I see people wearing like,
- 29:54Speaker 1: like the, what's the red and white ones with the
- 29:56Speaker 1: red patent leather or like I just feel like I really,
- 30:01Speaker 1: if it's not the Space Jam 11s or what's the
- 30:05Speaker 1: black and white ones?
- 30:06Speaker 2: The Concords.
- 30:07Speaker 1: The Concords or the bread ones. I'm just like, eh.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I mean, I have a pair of old Columbia 11s
- 30:15Speaker 1: that I like still. But I just feel like I
- 30:17Speaker 1: bought the purple ones that dropped. They had those purple
- 30:21Speaker 1: ones that just dropped last. Was it this year or
- 30:23Speaker 1: late last year?
- 30:24Speaker 2: The 11s?
- 30:26Speaker 1: I think they're Mojave 11s.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah. It was all purple.
- 30:29Speaker 1: All purple. I copped them. They're just sitting. I just
- 30:32Speaker 1: can't wear them. I don't know why. I'm like, I
- 30:35Speaker 1: don't know. I have them.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they came out around this time last year.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because they dropped those and some all blacked
- 30:41Speaker 1: out 10s at the same time. And I like the 10s,
- 30:43Speaker 1: but no, the 11s. Yeah, I think you got to
- 30:47Speaker 1: get your hand on them 11s, man, and do something
- 30:49Speaker 1: with them. You already know Arizona, man. The Bootleg Head
- 30:51Speaker 1: Podcast brought to you by our partners at Raffi Law Group. Now,
- 30:54Speaker 1: we love Raffi Law Group, man. Arizona's premier personal injury firm.
- 30:59Speaker 1: What I love about Raffi is they're so dependable, so trustworthy,
- 31:02Speaker 1: and they get the job done. They've helped over 70,000 Arizonans.
- 31:06Speaker 1: I know you see the billboards everywhere. I know you
- 31:09Speaker 1: can't avoid seeing my man Rafi's face everywhere, but it's
- 31:12Speaker 1: because he is the absolute best, all right? He's helped
- 31:15Speaker 1: my wife get through an accident situation, got her paid.
- 31:18Speaker 1: My mother-in-law, same situation. My best friend's parents just used
- 31:23Speaker 1: Rafi and got a big payday. So make sure if
- 31:25Speaker 1: you get into an accident, if you need help, all right?
- 31:28Speaker 1: It could be an accident. It could be a slip
- 31:30Speaker 1: and fall. It could be any personal injury situation. They're
- 31:33Speaker 1: gonna take care of it, all right? All you got
- 31:35Speaker 1: to do is call Rafi. You know what it is, man.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Call Rafi. 623-388-4333. Rafi Law Group. The only personal injury
- 31:44Speaker 1: law firm that we will ever rock with right here
- 31:46Speaker 1: on the Blue Lake Head podcast. All right. So look, Kalshi,
- 31:49Speaker 1: this week, this is what I like. I think the
- 31:51Speaker 1: Eagles are absolutely trash. And I think the Panthers are
- 31:55Speaker 1: about to smoke on that Jalen Hurts pack. So this
- 31:57Speaker 1: is what I like because the Panthers are trading at
- 32:00Speaker 1: even right now. 50-50. That's right. So you can get
- 32:03Speaker 1: the Panthers right now a contract for them to beat
- 32:05Speaker 1: the Eagles 50%. That's 50 cents, all right? So run
- 32:09Speaker 1: that up. I think the Panthers are about to smoke
- 32:11Speaker 1: the Eagles. The Eagles just got rid of 40% of
- 32:14Speaker 1: their offensive line, traded one of the bros. The other
- 32:16Speaker 1: bro said, I've had enough. I'm retiring. Jalen Hurts is
- 32:19Speaker 1: a broken man. Meanwhile, the little midget over there in Carolina,
- 32:23Speaker 1: Bryce Young, that little tiny-ass fool, he's slinging that thing
- 32:27Speaker 1: to the bro from U of A. What's the guy's name? McMullen, McMillan, whatever,
- 32:31Speaker 1: whatever the fuck. The guy who looks like The Rock's grandson. Anyway, listen,
- 32:34Speaker 1: hit the link in the bio. When you trade $ 25,
- 32:36Speaker 1: you'll get $ 55 for free on Couchy. We're going with
- 32:40Speaker 1: the Panthers big time at 50% on Couchy, man. So
- 32:44Speaker 1: appreciate the support, and let's get into the episode. Like,
- 32:46Speaker 1: I just saw their, did you see the green screen
- 32:48Speaker 1: ones they just announced?
- 32:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I just seen somebody, I seen people, like, on
- 32:51Speaker 3: Instagram talking about them, talking bad about them.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Them bitches finna go up on Christmas. You're about to
- 32:55Speaker 1: see them shits in every family photo on Christmas if
- 32:57Speaker 1: they're coming out before Christmas.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think, you know, as what you mentioned about, like,
- 33:02Speaker 3: just stock price and stuff, like, it's, to me, I
- 33:04Speaker 3: think little things like that, man, gotta be, like, just fundamental.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I don't think it's, like, anybody's failing. I think it
- 33:10Speaker 3: has to be, like, just fundamental switches.
- 33:12Speaker 2: And stuff like that.
- 33:13Speaker 1: And 100%, and like you were saying, like, it's like,
- 33:15Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, like, Fashion changes, right? And, like,
- 33:18Speaker 1: everything's youth-driven. Yeah. So it's like kids are at the crib, bro.
- 33:24Speaker 1: They're trying to stream. They're trying to play video games.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I mean, GTA motherfuckers are not about to be outside.
- 33:28Speaker 1: So it's like we used to, like, hit the mall. Yeah. And, like,
- 33:33Speaker 1: want to have some fly shit. Yeah. Now I feel like.
- 33:36Speaker 3: I think what we're about to go through for, like,
- 33:38Speaker 3: that launch of GTA may be something we've never seen
- 33:40Speaker 3: before as far as, like.
- 33:42Speaker 2: A new wave of content.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I think when those meta glasses came out, man, it's
- 33:48Speaker 3: like a whole different lane of content you see from
- 33:52Speaker 3: people filming on their glasses.
- 33:54Speaker 2: I think you just can see GTA stuff for at
- 33:56Speaker 2: least seven, eight months.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Non-stop. There's going to be people whose entire YouTube channel
- 34:00Speaker 1: is based around their GTA character. I went and worked
- 34:03Speaker 1: out today. This is getting a lap dance in GTA.
- 34:06Speaker 1: It's crazy. What is one of the fashion trends of
- 34:10Speaker 1: the last, let's say, 15 years that you've absolutely just hated?
- 34:15Speaker 1: What's the worst one? Because there's been some dog shit.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I think back to the skinny jeans era.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Yeah, skinny jeans was tough.
- 34:20Speaker 3: I was actually watching some music videos on YouTube the
- 34:23Speaker 3: other day and everybody was in skinnies and it was
- 34:25Speaker 3: kind of a little hard to look at just because
- 34:28Speaker 3: fashion is just such in a different place right now.
- 34:30Speaker 2: But I think also like... Oh, man. Did I completely hate?
- 34:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 34:37Speaker 3: I think maybe just like the super emo era right
- 34:41Speaker 3: now that I think we're in.
- 34:43Speaker 1: It just.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I don't think... I just, like, despise it.
- 34:45Speaker 3: I just think it's hard for me to identify and, like, understand.
- 34:49Speaker 3: And I think it's a whole, even industry, with, like,
- 34:52Speaker 3: music and artists and.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Music to the fashion.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that stuff.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I think we were walking around Complex Con, and obviously... Yeah.
- 34:58Speaker 1: It was Cardi and Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 1: And them kids. I think about... Because I don't know
- 35:06Speaker 1: how old you are, but I feel like we're closer
- 35:07Speaker 1: in age than that. But when I was a kid,
- 35:11Speaker 1: there was, like... Hot Topic and Mr. Rags, and there
- 35:16Speaker 1: was kids who would be gothic kids. And they would
- 35:20Speaker 1: have the black ripped up, just giant baggy jeans.
- 35:25Speaker 2: The face, the eye paint.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah, all that shit. But they would be listening, back then,
- 35:29Speaker 1: they'd be listening to Marilyn Manson. You know what I'm saying?
- 35:32Speaker 1: So I feel like the new version of that is
- 35:35Speaker 1: whatever the Cardi shit is. But then it's interesting, because
- 35:38Speaker 1: then you'll see another kid walking around Dress like Cardi,
- 35:41Speaker 1: but it's like the backwards jersey and the hat with
- 35:44Speaker 1: the do-rag. And it's like, it's just, yeah, I feel
- 35:48Speaker 1: like whatever era we're in right now, you got it.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Because you have to have also been like, damn, because
- 35:56Speaker 1: I feel like I'm aging out of whatever the new
- 35:59Speaker 1: shit is.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I think that's probably what it is, though. I've always
- 36:02Speaker 2: felt like I was.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I was at least fashionable enough to contribute to every era. Like,
- 36:08Speaker 2: you know, at least people wearing jerseys. I'm going to
- 36:10Speaker 2: get a jersey. People wearing these type of Yeezys. Let
- 36:13Speaker 2: me go get some Yeezys.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I think this era we in right now with that
- 36:17Speaker 3: is a little tough for me to even find.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Like, it does feel like aging out.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Or it's just like there's a specific corner of youth
- 36:24Speaker 1: that you're just like, man, I ain't got nothing for you.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I don't even know what the fuck y'all on.
- 36:30Speaker 2: But, you know, I think.
- 36:32Speaker 1: You know, I mean, look, Cardi was selling a Mitchell
- 36:34Speaker 1: and S jersey of all the NBA teams. So, like,
- 36:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's, obviously, there's kids buying that shit because
- 36:38Speaker 1: he did the jersey. But it is definitely, it is
- 36:41Speaker 1: an interesting time because I do feel like there's, but
- 36:45Speaker 1: you still have the cultural relevancy of, you know, Pharrell
- 36:51Speaker 1: and the Clips had a run. But that's all our shit. Yeah.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Like, I had to, like,
- 36:56Speaker 1: force my son to come with me to the Clips show. Yeah.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Because I'm like, nah, it's Al Muneer. Yeah. I give
- 37:02Speaker 1: it up to Tyler for keeping a lot of the
- 37:04Speaker 1: colors alive with the youth.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Because Tyler is very vibrant.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:10Speaker 1: All his branding, a lot of colors.
- 37:11Speaker 2: No, Tyler's super talented.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Man, you just really reminded me of something, man. It's
- 37:18Speaker 3: hard to even get my son to want to go
- 37:20Speaker 3: to games with me. Man, I would love on a
- 37:22Speaker 3: school night to go to a Yankee game or a
- 37:25Speaker 3: concert or something.
- 37:26Speaker 2: My son is not into any of that.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 2: It's almost like surgery for me to make him grow up.
- 37:31Speaker 1: It's like, come on, man. Let's get out of the house.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Everything's different. Our whole world is.
- 37:34Speaker 3: We are really aging out of what our generation was.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Bro, it's crazy. Back to the hip-hop side. Who's kind
- 37:41Speaker 1: of like your Mount Rushmore rap?
- 37:43Speaker 2: Mount Rushmore? I think definitely Kanye. I think Jay-Z, Nas.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Nipsey Hussle.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Nip? You're a big Nip guy?
- 37:55Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Nip.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Nip has a lot to do with just my brand
- 37:58Speaker 3: in general. My hats always say Fevron some fly. It
- 38:01Speaker 3: comes from Nip, Fevron some fly shit. And this was
- 38:04Speaker 3: something out, like a quote that meant a lot to
- 38:08Speaker 3: me when he was alive.
- 38:09Speaker 1: I mean, he was a fucking, obviously a force, but
- 38:14Speaker 1: especially if you were like a blog era kid, he
- 38:15Speaker 1: was that guy for sure.
- 38:17Speaker 3: He just talked a lot of financial literacy. He talked
- 38:19Speaker 3: a lot of direct to consumer type stuff in his
- 38:25Speaker 3: music through His.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Actions, too, like the Crenshaw tape and, you know, being
- 38:31Speaker 1: that like that Proud to Pay movement, I think was
- 38:33Speaker 1: like special and like it's changed. I mean, it was
- 38:36Speaker 1: the beginning of like a lot of like what LaRussell does.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Like, you know, a lot of people. Yeah.
- 38:40Speaker 3: No, man, it was a I think if there was
- 38:43Speaker 3: ever like a moment that changed my life in general,
- 38:46Speaker 3: it was it was two songs. It was on the
- 38:49Speaker 3: same tape. It was seven days. Anybody in the Nip vault,
- 38:54Speaker 3: like seven days a week.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Um, and it was, um, Feb on some fly shit,
- 38:59Speaker 3: Feb on some fly shit. He shot the video in
- 39:01Speaker 3: Japan and just went around all different stores. And I
- 39:04Speaker 3: think that was just something that showed me, like, I
- 39:07Speaker 3: want to, I want to really make clothes and I
- 39:09Speaker 3: want to pair it with music.
- 39:10Speaker 2: And I want to.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Um, kind of just teach, teach, teach through my music
- 39:15Speaker 3: the way he was teaching through his music. So man,
- 39:17Speaker 3: when he, when he passed, it was, you know, it was,
- 39:20Speaker 3: it was kind of, it was kind of tough to
- 39:22Speaker 3: even imagine.
- 39:24Speaker 1: And you're in the Bronx. Here, I always tell everybody,
- 39:28Speaker 1: and people call me crazy, but I live here. So
- 39:32Speaker 1: it's like when, obviously, Nipsey passing away, it felt, and
- 39:36Speaker 1: I knew Nip, so maybe obviously I'm biased, but it
- 39:40Speaker 1: just felt like heavier than, you know. uh, anything that I've,
- 39:46Speaker 1: I've been in LA for. And like, I was here
- 39:48Speaker 1: when Kobe passed, you know? Um, so shout out to
- 39:51Speaker 1: knit man. I think he, his influence is like, it's
- 39:54Speaker 1: dope to see it growing for people who are like
- 39:58Speaker 1: becoming like aware of all that stuff we're talking about,
- 40:01Speaker 1: but they didn't know they weren't fans of him when
- 40:03Speaker 1: he was alive or they were too young, you know
- 40:05Speaker 1: what I mean? And so that's dope. Um, have you
- 40:08Speaker 1: been able to link with fat Joe yet? The Bronx legend? No, no,
- 40:11Speaker 1: I haven't.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I haven't, I haven't met.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Air Force One legend?
- 40:14Speaker 3: I haven't met Joe. We, I've been in a few different, um,
- 40:17Speaker 3: like rooms with him. Like recently Nike had like a suite, um,
- 40:21Speaker 3: had like a suite for like fashion week where like
- 40:24Speaker 3: celebrities came through and were picking up product and we
- 40:26Speaker 3: were there at the same time. But man, Joe is a,
- 40:29Speaker 3: is a mega star. So, you know, he walks in
- 40:32Speaker 3: a room, it's, the whole room had to, is catering to,
- 40:35Speaker 3: you know, him and what he got going on. Um,
- 40:37Speaker 3: But he's meant a lot to the Bronx growing up.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Fat Joe to the Bronx is almost like Michael Jordan
- 40:45Speaker 3: almost in some ways.
- 40:46Speaker 2: 100%.
- 40:47Speaker 3: He's always been special in the sneaker space and music
- 40:51Speaker 3: and fashion just in general too. Especially for a bigger dude.
- 40:56Speaker 3: A bigger dude, he always talked the fly stuff.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it's always dope because, I mean, look,
- 41:02Speaker 1: at the end of the day, when you're a bigger dude,
- 41:03Speaker 1: it's a little bit harder to get your shit in size.
- 41:05Speaker 3: So you got to work a little harder sometimes to
- 41:07Speaker 3: get fly. Yeah, but he's always embodied that. And when
- 41:11Speaker 3: I was a kid, man, Joe and Pun, man, they were, like,
- 41:18Speaker 3: larger than life.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Which MC you think's got the best style?
- 41:23Speaker 2: The best style?
- 41:24Speaker 1: 2026. Um....
- 41:28Speaker 2: She's got the best style. That was a tough one.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Probably still Ye.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Ye ain't wearing all them colors, though.
- 41:38Speaker 3: He's not wearing all the colors, but I think that
- 41:40Speaker 3: Ye is probably still the person that, if you get
- 41:44Speaker 3: a glimpse of what he's wearing, it's going to change
- 41:45Speaker 3: the whole industry for it. If he goes to wear
- 41:48Speaker 3: something from Meryl's Marvel, Meryl's sold out.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I literally was thinking this today, thinking about interviewing you,
- 41:53Speaker 1: and I was just thinking about Kanye, and I was like, yo,
- 41:56Speaker 1: if Kanye... announced a new album tomorrow and just like
- 42:00Speaker 1: popped out in like the og colorful shit it's over
- 42:03Speaker 1: like he's changing fashion immediately yeah and like i did
- 42:07Speaker 1: you see the video of uh kaisanet showing kanye his
- 42:11Speaker 1: boots while he's wearing.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Them yeah similar yeah it was.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Like this guy has influenced so much it's like yeah
- 42:18Speaker 4: it's crazy like he made i mean dude polo was
- 42:20Speaker 4: obviously there's all the low heads out in new york
- 42:22Speaker 4: and polo and ralph lauren's always been a thing but
- 42:23Speaker 4: i remember Nobody in, I'm from Phoenix.
- 42:26Speaker 1: We always wearing colorful ass polos because of comedy.
- 42:29Speaker 3: It could be a literature book of just trends from
- 42:32Speaker 3: Ye to skinnies to leather pants to certain retro Jordans
- 42:39Speaker 3: to polo to denim to Don C hats to just
- 42:45Speaker 3: a lot of different brands, man. To Givenchy's, to Louis Vuitton's,
- 42:49Speaker 3: the Maricami's. I think when people underestimate when they talk
- 42:54Speaker 3: about like the Yeezy tree how it's just so much
- 42:56Speaker 3: things that grew from the tree of his influence and
- 43:00Speaker 3: the people around him and what he was able to
- 43:03Speaker 3: influence that even with him in this time where he's
- 43:06Speaker 3: not as present in culture as he used to be
- 43:09Speaker 3: that you still see the imprint in every single direction
- 43:13Speaker 3: from all the way from his child to the people
- 43:17Speaker 3: that used to work with him still very relevant in
- 43:19Speaker 3: fashion For sure.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Do you have a certain color palette that you work
- 43:25Speaker 1: off of? And are you conscious about introducing a new
- 43:28Speaker 1: color into something? Like, oh, I haven't used this color yet.
- 43:31Speaker 1: So when I use it, I like this color.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 1: But when I throw it in the mix, it's new.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Do you think about that kind of stuff?
- 43:38Speaker 2: Yeah, 100%. I feel like my brand, the top colors
- 43:40Speaker 2: is purple and coral.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Right.
- 43:47Speaker 3: But since then, like, I introduced purple and coral. I
- 43:49Speaker 3: try to introduce different colors into, like, the family. Like,
- 43:52Speaker 3: this year, I've introduced, like, this emerald green.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Like, I dropped the G-Shock.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Yeah, the G-Shock. G-Shock's hard, by the way.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I dropped, like, the Skullcandy headphones. I dropped a few
- 44:00Speaker 3: different things. It was, like, emerald green.
- 44:02Speaker 2: And when I was doing stuff with Hat Club, it.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Was, you know, I used to do the almost, like,
- 44:08Speaker 3: wizard's blue with the forest green.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:12Speaker 3: And then I would do, like, the orange and the.
- 44:15Speaker 3: The green is like a carrot and stuff. So I
- 44:17Speaker 3: think every year I try to give people something that
- 44:21Speaker 3: feels fresh, feels new, and it almost invites this new world.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Because I do think that, you know, I'm pretty sure
- 44:29Speaker 3: there's other people out there, but as like what I do,
- 44:32Speaker 3: I like this when people see stuff they know that
- 44:33Speaker 3: that must be a J-Tips hat or that must be
- 44:35Speaker 3: a J-Tips shoe.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Signature.
- 44:37Speaker 2: It's just the way that the colors bounce off of
- 44:39Speaker 2: each other. It has to be.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Nah. I saw you, Savior, had flipped the Rock-A-Wear logo
- 44:46Speaker 1: on the tee. Yeah. If you could bring back any
- 44:48Speaker 1: OG clothing line, what would it be? Oh, man.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Kid Robot.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Kid Robot was crazy.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Kid Robot.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Rock-A-Wear was a good one. Actually, it's funny you mentioned LRG.
- 45:00Speaker 3: I chatted with the owner, LRG, at ComplexCon. They need you.
- 45:04Speaker 3: That was a big one.
- 45:06Speaker 2: LRG was the wave.
- 45:07Speaker 1: LRG was like a.
- 45:11Speaker 3: like everyone like every other big brand went with an
- 45:14Speaker 3: lrg with my new jays bro i mean i think.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Back to the um the full zip up skeleton yeah
- 45:19Speaker 1: when kanye was wearing that red one yeah and then
- 45:21Speaker 1: like some of those ads when i feel like they
- 45:24Speaker 1: had all the ads or all the all the up-and-coming
- 45:27Speaker 1: rappers that were crazy.
- 45:28Speaker 3: And then it was a um i'm not sure out
- 45:30Speaker 3: here you guys are familiar with it but fabulous had
- 45:32Speaker 3: a A brand called Rich Young.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I saw it at the... It was at ComplexCon.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 45:37Speaker 1: There was a booth.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Oh, really? I didn't see it. Oh, wow. I wish
- 45:41Speaker 2: I'd seen it.
- 45:41Speaker 1: It was in the middle. It was small, but I
- 45:44Speaker 1: was like, this is the fabulous shit. And they even
- 45:46Speaker 1: had the OG Fab ad. Really? Yeah. Oh, man. So
- 45:49Speaker 1: I don't know if Fab's still a part of that
- 45:51Speaker 1: or not.
- 45:51Speaker 3: I'm sad I didn't see it because, man, when I
- 45:53Speaker 3: was growing up and at first had the ability to
- 45:56Speaker 3: go into Manhattan by myself... Rich Young, Bape, and Billionaire
- 46:00Speaker 3: Boys Club would be on the same rack, like Union,
- 46:04Speaker 3: before those stores had their own stores. That was an option,
- 46:09Speaker 3: like a Bape tea or a Rich Young tea. I
- 46:14Speaker 3: think that was really that era.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Shout out to Bape, man. Bape is still like Have
- 46:20Speaker 1: you been to Japan yet?
- 46:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been to Japan.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, as you know, like, the Japan,
- 46:25Speaker 1: it's shopping there is the best. You damn near shouldn't
- 46:29Speaker 1: go to Japan with luggage.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you shouldn't go with luggage, and you shouldn't go
- 46:32Speaker 3: to Japan if you want to not have... You're going
- 46:35Speaker 3: to think about it every day.
- 46:36Speaker 1: If you want to keep your money and realize that
- 46:39Speaker 1: we're cooked and maybe I want to move across the water.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Because you'll go to Japan and be like, why would
- 46:44Speaker 1: I ever want to leave here? It's clean. The food
- 46:47Speaker 1: is fire. The clothes are fire. Culture is lit. Like, it's... Oh,
- 46:50Speaker 1: it's the best.
- 46:51Speaker 3: People just have different, like, habits. Like, you know, people
- 46:54Speaker 3: just lining up straight for anything. Like, just everything's so clean.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Like, I had a... Probably the.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Craziest thing that happened to me in Japan is, like,
- 47:03Speaker 3: you know, I'll just get a drink.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Get a drink, a water bottle.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Right.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I couldn't throw it away for hours. There was no
- 47:09Speaker 2: garbage cans. But everything is clean.
- 47:11Speaker 1: It's so clean.
- 47:12Speaker 3: So it's like, in my shopping bags, I got, like,
- 47:14Speaker 3: little bottles and stuff that I'm waiting to find somewhere
- 47:16Speaker 3: that I can throw this stuff away.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Yeah, like, if you're walking around, like, like, Harajuku or
- 47:20Speaker 1: what's the other area where the other babe stores at
- 47:23Speaker 1: with all the thrift shops and shit. It's like so nice.
- 47:25Speaker 1: And you're just like, damn. And then all the stores
- 47:28Speaker 1: have like, like if you go to the Tokyo Jordan store,
- 47:31Speaker 1: they got some shit in there. And you're just like,
- 47:34Speaker 1: these are here? What the fuck?
- 47:36Speaker 3: Man, I went into even like the secondhand store that
- 47:38Speaker 3: had like everything in there.
- 47:40Speaker 2: And it was good prices.
- 47:41Speaker 3: They had like, it had an OG retro 11 from 96.
- 47:44Speaker 2: And it was, it was like, yeah, 300 bucks.
- 47:47Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 47:48Speaker 2: I was like, no way. you probably can't wear it.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yeah, like the soles are falling off when you take
- 47:53Speaker 1: your first step.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's cool to see that it doesn't say
- 47:57Speaker 3: Retro Jordan. It says Air Jordan 11 on the box.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Yeah, no. When is your shoe officially dropping?
- 48:05Speaker 3: Beginning of next year. We got some stuff coming. I'm
- 48:07Speaker 3: not allowed to say exactly when, but it's going to
- 48:10Speaker 3: be soon. It's a 2027 project.
- 48:13Speaker 1: 2027 project, the Air Bacons. And have you already kind
- 48:16Speaker 1: of started crafting or figuring out The follow-up?
- 48:20Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Have you landed on the silhouette? Obviously, you can't share
- 48:24Speaker 1: what it is, but have you kind of, have you
- 48:26Speaker 1: narrowed it down? Yeah, yeah.
- 48:28Speaker 3: We got some more stuff coming, man, which is just
- 48:30Speaker 3: a testament of hard work. I feel like one thing
- 48:34Speaker 3: that was like the critique online when people were saying like,
- 48:37Speaker 3: you know, you no longer with Saucony was people think
- 48:41Speaker 3: at Saucony I was able to do everything.
- 48:43Speaker 2: That I wanted and no, it was earned, man.
- 48:45Speaker 3: It was, it was us coming up with really good
- 48:47Speaker 3: concepts and really good themes and really good stories. And,
- 48:52Speaker 3: you know, I think we're able here at Nike to,
- 48:54Speaker 3: you know, you know, start that process again, just keep proving,
- 48:58Speaker 3: proving myself and trying to, you know, I always say
- 49:01Speaker 3: the prize for good work is more work. So just
- 49:03Speaker 3: trying to just keep the wheels turning.
- 49:05Speaker 1: That's fire, man. Well, listen, make sure you follow my guy, uh,
- 49:08Speaker 1: J tips, uh, savior worldwide is the brand. Yeah. Nike
- 49:12Speaker 1: shoe coming next year? Yeah. Soon or not. And then
- 49:16Speaker 1: with that, are you dropping like I saw the jersey
- 49:18Speaker 1: you were wearing? Is that all going to be like that?
- 49:20Speaker 2: Some apparel.
- 49:20Speaker 3: We got some apparel coming and some pants too. It
- 49:25Speaker 3: would have been fire if I had a water pants,
- 49:26Speaker 3: but they were able to get me some stuff fast
- 49:30Speaker 3: with Complex Con, but everything couldn't come.
- 49:32Speaker 2: So it'll be some stuff people get to see soon.
- 49:35Speaker 1: What was the... Complex Con was like... I tell people...
- 49:40Speaker 1: it was like being inside of the internet for a
- 49:42Speaker 1: couple of days. Yeah. What, what was the, was there
- 49:45Speaker 1: anything you were impressed that you saw? Because there's a
- 49:47Speaker 1: lot of young brands that are, there's a lot of
- 49:51Speaker 1: people who don't even have booths who are just walking
- 49:53Speaker 1: around hustling their brand out of bags and shit. You
- 49:55Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? Was there any, any, any younger
- 49:56Speaker 1: brands or younger designers that impressed you?
- 50:00Speaker 3: My, you know, the part of, Complex Con that is
- 50:03Speaker 3: the disadvantage for me is I don't really get to
- 50:04Speaker 3: walk around.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Rob Markman Now, you was there. Your shit was right
- 50:08Speaker 1: in the middle, and people are there to see you
- 50:10Speaker 1: and see the shoe.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's also like.
- 50:13Speaker 3: The brand has changed so much that you start walking around,
- 50:15Speaker 3: people want to trail you. And especially with the Nike
- 50:18Speaker 3: stuff now, Nike was trying to send a security guard
- 50:21Speaker 3: at me, and I was telling them, I'm good, I'm good.
- 50:23Speaker 3: But then walking with my homies after a few booths,
- 50:28Speaker 3: They'll leave me because they'll be like, this is too much.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Everybody's talking to you. Everyone's trying to figure out what's up.
- 50:31Speaker 3: I used to always think security was for safety, but
- 50:34Speaker 3: it's more for, no, I just.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Need to get from A to B.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Convenience.
- 50:37Speaker 2: It's convenience. That was the sad part.
- 50:42Speaker 3: I really didn't get to walk around and say hello
- 50:44Speaker 3: to as many people that I wanted to. I probably
- 50:46Speaker 3: got to catch up on the internet this week and
- 50:48Speaker 3: see what was happening.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Well, listen, man. Appreciate you pulling up. No, thank you,
- 50:52Speaker 1: my brother. J-Tips, congrats on all the success.
- 50:53Speaker 2: I appreciate it, man. I'm honored, man.
