- Daniel: Georgia fans, welcome to another fantastic week here on Talking Dogs. ⁓ it's Vandy week. ⁓ Georgia's four and ⁓ Georgia just beat the absolute tar out of the number eight ranked defense in the country. And ⁓ we ain't played nobody yet, it turns out. No, I'll tell you the team that ain't played nobody, that's Florida. Clint: Yes. ⁓ it's good. No, hello. Ain't played nobody, Paul. ⁓ no. But old Miss is so good! Daniel: Don't lose to Flor don't lose to Missouri this weekend. I'm begging you. It's been so cute watching you stick your chest out. Please don't lose to Missouri. Not not this soon. Not this soon. Florida? Alright, listen. Clint: Mazoo doesn't have a better ranked defense than Old Miss, do they? Daniel: In terms of total defense, yeah, much better. Turns out. ⁓ interesting. ⁓ okay. Clint, it's a big week here on Talking Dogs. A, because ⁓ you and I are gonna be in Athens on Saturday. Clint: Much. Yeah. Huge week. In the classic city. Daniel: B because we have things to give away while we're in Athens. Clint: Ooh. Some goodies. Daniel: like ⁓ multiple goodies. Okay? So here's what's gonna happen. Clint: Our milkshakes don't do anything, but our goodies, they bring people out. Daniel: They do not. Here's what's gonna happen. If you want a chance to maybe connect with us if you're gonna be in Athens, if you want a chance to win something, to to get something from us for free this weekend. Clint: Literally, you're I will have it in my hand and I will place it in your hands when you see me. Daniel: Make sure you're subscribed to the newsletter. It's in the description of this video, between the banter dot beehive.com. That's where you will read about ⁓ what we're giving away and who we're giving it away to and how you can get your hands on one. and then next week we might, you know, we might have we might have some more things available for the rest of you. So stay tuned for that. If you're here, make sure you're subscribed, subscribe to the newsletter, all those things. Clint. Today I want to talk about the number one team in the country. And I also want to talk about Texas. ⁓ so Georgia and Texas. Those are the two teams I want to talk about. ⁓ the best team in college football. And Tech and Texas. No, ⁓ God, no. ⁓ Kirk Cinetti, boy, ⁓ Humility's a week away. I've heard Kirby say that, Kirk. Maybe that's Clint: Okay. Which is in the it it the who the who the Hoosers? The Hoosers. Daniel: For your i for you it came a lot sooner. Didn't it? Didn't it? ⁓ now talk about Texas. Texas gets another big win. I mean, Texas beaten Ohio State now this year. They beaten they beaten Mighty Tennessee on the road in Nealand Stadium. Top twenty Tennessee team on the road in Nealand Stadium. They've got Colin Simmons, the best defensive football player to ever play football. ⁓ Clint: Lots in her. huge win. ⁓ Daniel: Also the worst sell sack celebrator, maybe, in the history of football. Clint: I get it, people. Like I get it. These are these are professional athletes. I I have tended to try to tell you there are some people you don't want to be like mentoring your child. Okay? It it takes a special type of football player to really like a Nicholas Chubb. Yes, he can mentor my child. That'd be great. ⁓ but and it's a little ridiculous because of the commercials that are played during football games. I get it as well. But that man is just an idiot. Just Bona fide less thinking ability, less maturity. Daniel: He just dumb. Just a dumb person. There's lots of dumb people. He's one of them. Yeah. But vi but good at football. Texas, they got Arch Manning. They got a great defense. They got Steve Sarkeesian. They've got talent up and down their roster. They paid $10 million for Cam Coleman to come over ⁓ from Auburn. This Texas team, if you look around and listen around, this Texas team. Clint: Just dumb. He's one of ⁓ Daniel: By far the biggest threat to Georgia and the SEC. Clint: So it really says. Daniel: Biggest national championship threat to Georgia. Like, you know, over Georgia. ⁓ the position of this show, the position of these two idiots, is that Texas is not even remotely a threat to Georgia in any way, shape, or form. So let's just get out ahead of that to start with. So why do we feel that way? Why do we feel as though Texas, even though they've got two great wins, they've got Clint: I'm gonna tell you the team that's actually true on that, but Yeah. Daniel: You know, they they sh season shaping up very nicely for Steve Sarkeesian. ⁓ they're not a threat to this Georgia team at all. Why, Clint? Why would we have such a dumb take? Clint: Very nicely for them. Mm-hmm. ⁓ it starts with take point one for me. Steve Sarkeesian continues to pl make play calls for the University of Texas. You're Steve, I I get it. I get it. One time you were like power lifting clean and and and jerking like 315 pounds and it felt good. And and then what happened is your body started changing and you couldn't do that anymore, and it hurts, and you're gonna stroke out if you try. Daniel: Yeah. Clint: But there you are still trying your darndest to do so at the gym. Steve, leave it to somebody else. Go do other things you might be gifted at. The reason why Texas isn't a threat because Steve Sarkesian can't get out of his own way, Daniel. Lit literally. He's calling plays on offense. No other championship winning football coach does that. Daniel: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. He yeah, and when he does it, he calls the wrong place, to be clear. The very wrong place. I'm gonna go to point number two on this ⁓ matrix of why Texas is not a real threat. In fact, I wouldn't even put him in my top ten scariest teams that Georgia could face right now, across the nation, in college football. And that's not a that's not an exaggerated take for the sake of Clint: Very wrong place. Nope. Daniel: Content. That's a legitimate belief. Clint: Do you remember when Tennessee was Remember when Tennessee was the number one team in the entire nation and people saying, ⁓ you better watch out, they're gonna run and Daniel and I laughed and we're like, I I don't fear them at all. Th this is the same. They're given the same thing here, okay? It's Daniel: They printed a coffee table book about it. About being ranked number one. Yeah, this is what it is. ⁓ point two on why Tens ⁓ Texas is not a real threat, h has a name. His name is Arch Manning. ⁓ Clint: There it is. Daniel: 862 passing yards, seven touchdowns, three interceptions, 63.8 completion percentage, 141 passer rating, 889 passing yards, 8 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 66.4% completion percentage, 151 passer rating. Clint: ⁓ who who'd you just describe there, Daniel? Daniel: I've just read out the statistical numbers of Arch Manning and John Mateir. Clint: no. Daniel: John Matthias are better across the board. He has one more interception, but he also has one more touchdown. He has a higher passer rating. He has a higher completion percentage. He has more yards. And he's John Matthew. Clint: Now he has Cam Coleman to throw to, doesn't he? Daniel: No, he has worse receivers across the board. He has zero running game. Like none. None to bail him out. Clint: Interesting. Daniel: March Manning, meanwhile, brought in three running backs that started on other teams, paid them all handsomely, brought in three number one wide receivers from other teams to play on his team. Clint: Yep. Daniel: And yet his numbers are worse than John Mathiers' numbers. Now, Texas played Ohio State. Okay. Oklahoma played Michigan and Georgia. You can't tell me that Tennessee and Ohio State is that much harder of a road than Georgia and Ohio and Georgia and Michigan. That's competition similar. Competition similar. ⁓ weapons that he has to work with, John Mateer way lower. And yet John Matheer better numbers. Arch Manning is maybe not the most overrated quarterback in all of college football, but if you take into account Clint: You can't. You shouldn't. Daniel: the media hype that he has gotten since his freshman year, which is not his fault. But if you take all that into account, he is the most overhyped quarterback I I have ever seen in college football. He's not good. Clint: It's not Ever. I mean, guys, this is it's it's Ryan Leaf heading up to the draft. That's the type of he's not. Guys, it's it's like trying to watch Daniel: He's not good. Clint: We can go on and on about it. Arch Manning is not a good quarterback. He is a good name. He might be able to sell some things, but when you have a bad play caller and a bad quarterback who have a very gifted running game and you aren't using it like you should, I just I I have no idea what you're doing. Steve, you have an incredible running game. Daniel: I don't have any idea. Clint: With an incredible running back and an offensive line that when they are going downhill can move people. And you're choosing to let Arch arm punt it down the field. Daniel: That That's the th that's the the thing that Steve Sarkeesian the r the way he's killing this team. I don't think Steve Sarkeesian knows that Arch Manning is bad. Clint: He legitimately does not. Daniel: And he is and he is quite bad. Yeah. Clint: ⁓ point three. Daniel this Texas defense got after Frazon a little bit again against Tennessee. Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. Faison was rattled. He was scared to death. Clint: as he should have been with that offensive line that gave up pressures. ⁓ it was Daniel: I pff I it's a whole nother episode. I the tackles for Tennessee are the are the worst football players I've ever seen in my entire life. Clint: I can't believe one was rated so high, like ninety-five percent like great up there with pro football focus one week. The left it was I I don't know what they were watching. It was a joke. ⁓ ten Texas defense, people say real good. Now, Texas spent all their money on wide receivers and running backs. Couple of offensive linemen, get them out there, support Arch. Let them let ⁓ cook. The defense have some leftovers. There's some talent there. Daniel: ⁓ yeah. There's n yeah, it's a joke. Clint: There's we know the DC, but Daniel, the thing they do very well, very well. I don't know if it's elite, but very well, is get after the quarterback. They can produce pressure rates that are very good. You know what they weren't particularly good at this year for the most part until two teams decide they're not very good at being stout, like killer stout against the run. They're they're fine. Like the it's fine. Daniel: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Clint: But it is not a defense that I and if Georgia goes up against that front, that is far behind Tex ⁓ Oklahoma's front, far behind linebacker and defensive line play, I have no fear that we would stare them in the face and Zake Helton, Juan Gaston, Dantro Glover would molliwop those fools. Daniel: Yeah. ⁓ Just punch him right in the mouth. I I'll tell ya, if you want to know why the Texas defense looks so good, first of all, your your perception of them is built on five watching five quarters of football. The last quarter against Ohio State and the four quarters against Tennessee. Go watch them play Texas State. Is the defense was the defense elite in that game? Go watch the beginning of the Ohio State game. I'll tell you why the Texas defense looks good. And you already mentioned you already mentioned the defensive coordinator. The Texas defense looks good because everyone who's ever been associated with Kirby Smart. Clint: Yep. Mm, don't do that. Daniel: Owns Josh Heipel. It's like a timeshare. You just put in the week that you want to destroy Josh Heipel and then it gets blocked off on the calendar. This week was Will Muschamp's week. Kirby has got Josh Heipel unlocked and absolutely cooks him regularly. So, Will Muschamp knows how to coach against Josh Heipel. Clint: It's there. It's there for you. Mm-hmm. Daniel: The other reason you think the Texas defense is good is because is because Ryan Day turtled in that game, Clint. He just sucked up into that little shell of his and got real s if Ryan Day would just have kept running offense. Clint: Did he ever ⁓ it was so bad. Daniel: Texas would lost by three scores. If he just kept running offense, he literally stopped running offense. Completely. Ryan Day did Ryan Day things. And that's why in the fourth quarter, Texas looked good on defense. The Texas defense overall has been good. They have not been elite. And to your point, Clint: Yep. Good. Yeah. No. Daniel: They have not shown the ability to consistently stop a competent ground game. Clint: See, that's that's the thing that's so startling. Tennessee, I don't know what you were doing. Tennessee should have come out and should have been far more committed to the run than they were. They Daniel: Yeah, but they don't have it. Tennessee doesn't have Tennessee's got really talented wide receivers, but they have a true freshman quarterback and they have no ground game. And they have no tackles whatsoever. Like, Tennessee's gonna get Tennessee's gonna have a rough year for the rest of this year. Clint: Rough all of a sudden I it was a little bit exposing. ⁓ again, the play call and the coaching, the whole thing like that. It was it really was. It was Daniel: It was very exposing. Very exposing. There's a there's a there's a formula to be. I'm just not scared of this Texas team. Who are the teams in the SEC? And we're not this is not hyperbolic. This is not in an effort to generate some sort of clicks or whatever. Who are the teams in the SEC right now that legitimately you believe are a bigger threat to Georgia than Texas? Clint: Team. Daniel: There's one team in the SEC. Clint: Team. Alabama terrifies me. I I said this the beginning the season. I think Alabama's in the SEC championship game with us. That that was my prediction. I think Keelan Russell ⁓ is a whole freaking unit. It's quite good. Wide receivers, questionable. ⁓ running game, coaching, defensive backfield, good. But that that's the team what they remind me of. This they remind me of last year's old miss. Daniel: He's quite good. Clint: Opportunistic defense, opportunistic DBs, a quarterback playing out of his mind, a couple wide receivers that can make some plays sometimes, a running game that's adequate at time, you know. They remind they have that feel a little bit for me. But that's the team that I'm thinking of, Daniel. No I mean I mean, ⁓ maybe Mississippi State, because the same exact reasons that I just gave from Alabama, maybe that. But the Daniel: Okay. Yeah. Clint: There's no team in the SEC currently that scares me. Texas is down at the bottom with like Missouri. I I'm I d that's not again, I'm not trying to click. They have the same threat level to me as Missouri does to us. Daniel: Ole Miss is a bigger threat to Georgia than Texas. LSU is a bigger threat to Georgia than Texas. Florida and Alabama definitely bigger threats to Georgia than Texas. Like, like I'm Texas, you're definitely a bigger threat than than AM. I'll tell you that. You're definitely a bigger threat than AM. You're definitely a bigger threat than Oklahoma. I can't go again. It's Clint: Yeah. Daniel: They're probably like seventh in the league for me. And I don't know, Texas fans are gonna hear this, they're gonna get all up in their emotions, they're gonna they're gonna remind me of all the recent championships that they've won. SEC championships and college football playoff championships. I know. Just write it in the comments. Let me know all the championships that Texas has won recently, and you know, I'll look like an idiot. I'll be the one that looks like an idiot. That's for sure. Clint: Yep. Daniel: You'll be the one cheering for a quarterback that's exactly the same or slightly worse than John Mateir. Clint: John Matyr. Daniel: Jonathan Matteir is the quarterback. Your quarterback has worse numbers then. The Jon Matteir. The guy who spent the off season getting ready to model for a fireman catalog instead of thinking about how to play football, that guy's a better quarterback than the guy who spent all off season trying on new Viore jock straps instead of thinking about how to play football. Do you see the connection? Clint: That's startling. They're very similar people. Daniel: I listen, I s I led the show by saying Florida, don't lose to Missouri this weekend. And please don't. For content's sake, don't. Keep the train on the tracks a little bit longer. Texas, in two weeks. Don't you dare go to that Red River. Don't you dare go to that Red River and lose to Oklahoma. Clint: Get us to the cocktail party. Daniel: Not like this. Not this Oklahoma team, Texas. You wouldn't. You couldn't. You couldn't take this bye week and then come right back and go to the Red River and lose to Oklahoma. You wouldn't do that. Surely you wouldn't, Texas. Like this. Clint: Not like this.
