- 0:09Speaker 1: What's good people? It's your boy NIC coming to you
- 0:16Speaker 1: live and direct. I got my main man on the
- 0:20Speaker 1: ones and twos. He is the human sports almanac. He
- 0:25Speaker 1: is a recreational sport extraordinaire. He is the one and
- 0:30Speaker 1: only Jason Baum. You know, I gave you all those props,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and then, you know, we get the big guy lock
- 0:43Speaker 1: instead of Baum.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I just want– I felt like, you know, I felt
- 0:47Speaker 2: like honoring the big guy since, you know, football season
- 0:49Speaker 2: is about a week away at this point, and we're
- 0:52Speaker 2: definitely pining for some big guy locks to help make
- 0:54Speaker 2: the people and our viewers and listeners some money. You know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: this is me just making the call for them.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Good save, good save. Yeah, it's like the bat signal, right?
- 1:02Speaker 1: But yeah, football is right around the corner. And with
- 1:06Speaker 1: football being right around the corner, one Jets drive is
- 1:09Speaker 1: a time. This is the time of the year where
- 1:13Speaker 1: we typically have lots of optimism. And then soon after,
- 1:17Speaker 1: sometimes only four plays into a season, it all comes
- 1:20Speaker 1: crashing down. But with the New York Jets this year,
- 1:24Speaker 1: the question is, is there some hope? Or is it
- 1:28Speaker 1: all a lot of hype? And to me, what it
- 1:32Speaker 1: really comes down to, because nobody out here thinks that
- 1:34Speaker 1: the Jets are winning the Super Bowl. Very few people
- 1:39Speaker 1: think that the Jets are making the playoffs. As optimistic
- 1:46Speaker 1: as I typically am, I really hope that there's a chance,
- 1:52Speaker 1: you know, by the end of this season, we're looking
- 1:54Speaker 1: around and we're saying, okay, like, you know, we got
- 1:57Speaker 1: a chance if the If a couple things go our way,
- 1:59Speaker 1: we might be able to get into the dance. I
- 2:02Speaker 1: don't in any way, shape, or form believe that that's possible. Actually,
- 2:07Speaker 1: that's not true. I shouldn't say I don't believe it's possible.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's definitely not likely. Jets right now are the over-under
- 2:14Speaker 1: is set at five and a half wins. Last year,
- 2:17Speaker 1: they only won three games. So if they were to
- 2:20Speaker 1: win six, they double their win total. But to me,
- 2:25Speaker 1: you can't really measure success this year by wins and losses,
- 2:30Speaker 1: playoffs or not. If the Jets find a way to
- 2:33Speaker 1: make the playoffs, obviously it is just a rousing success
- 2:37Speaker 1: by Aaron Glenn, Doug Mugee, and the New York Jets.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But what is more likely is that they'll, you know,
- 2:47Speaker 1: hopefully get up to that seven, you know, somewhere around
- 2:52Speaker 1: seven wins, maybe eight. I feel like eight would be
- 2:55Speaker 1: something that you would feel good about. But let's just
- 2:58Speaker 1: say the win total is hanging around that five and
- 3:01Speaker 1: a half. They got five wins. They got six wins.
- 3:05Speaker 1: How are you going to feel as a Jets fan
- 3:08Speaker 1: if they end up with six wins? To me, you
- 3:13Speaker 1: have to not look at the win, loss, and tie columns.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You have to look at what does success really look
- 3:22Speaker 1: like For this Jets team and specifically, what does it
- 3:26Speaker 1: look like for Aaron Glenn in his second year? For me,
- 3:30Speaker 1: it's pretty simple. He's got to look competent. There was
- 3:34Speaker 1: times last year as an NFL head coach, he did
- 3:39Speaker 1: not look competent. And we've seen this now for quite
- 3:45Speaker 1: some time in Jets land where going from Aaron Glenn
- 3:51Speaker 1: last year, to Robert Sala, to Adam Gase. Even continuing
- 3:59Speaker 1: to go back. There's even coaches who, when they were
- 4:02Speaker 1: the Jets coach, Todd Bowles. He looked like kind of
- 4:08Speaker 1: a stooge. He's had a decent amount of success since.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He was a guy who I thought was a coordinator,
- 4:15Speaker 1: but not a head guy. He's went down to Tampa Bay,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and he's done well for himself. Good for him. It
- 4:22Speaker 1: just goes to show you sometimes the organization that you're with,
- 4:25Speaker 1: the quarterback that you have, the offensive line that you have.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Those are the key factors. And sometimes no matter who
- 4:33Speaker 1: you are, you can't overcome those things. But is it
- 4:39Speaker 1: something where it was too much for him to be
- 4:43Speaker 1: able to overcome? You know, a lot of people... look
- 4:48Speaker 1: at these last few years and they talk about how,
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, we haven't had great quarterback play. I thought
- 4:53Speaker 1: that Aaron Rodgers in his second year coming off of
- 4:56Speaker 1: a torn Achilles in his forties was the best throw
- 4:59Speaker 1: of the football that I've seen from a jet quarterback
- 5:03Speaker 1: since maybe ever.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You know what people forget about Rodgers that year too.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Everybody just looked and this is where I actually really
- 5:13Speaker 2: agree with you on the win loss total. If you
- 5:15Speaker 2: look at Aaron Rodgers' numbers that year, he basically had
- 5:18Speaker 2: the exact same numbers as Patrick Mahomes. Like, it was
- 5:22Speaker 2: borderline identical. It was that freaking close.
- 5:27Speaker 1: That's a good point. I didn't know that. But what
- 5:29Speaker 1: I do know is both quarterbacks had the same issue.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And it was going to be my overarching point when
- 5:36Speaker 1: it comes to sometimes a guy just can't overcome his circumstance.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers that year was running for his life the
- 5:43Speaker 1: entire season. The offensive line was a joke. Last year,
- 5:48Speaker 1: the offensive line upgrades. We go tackles and back-to-back years.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We get our bookends in Fashanu and Membo. They both
- 6:00Speaker 1: turn out to be what seems to be like good,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know, go ahead, pencil them in for the next
- 6:07Speaker 1: decade type offensive tackles. And then last year, we have
- 6:13Speaker 1: the continuity of the entire offensive line playing every single
- 6:19Speaker 1: game together, and then you go into this season and
- 6:23Speaker 1: you feel like that's going to be one of the strengths.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So that's going to be one of the things that
- 6:27Speaker 1: I look to at the end of the season and
- 6:30Speaker 1: I say, hey, is this offensive line, is it truly
- 6:33Speaker 1: a unit that we can, you know, kind of rely
- 6:39Speaker 1: on to be one of the better units in football
- 6:41Speaker 1: moving forward? I think that's a huge factor on what
- 6:48Speaker 1: success the Jets end up having in the win and
- 6:50Speaker 1: loss column. But even if the win and loss column is,
- 6:54Speaker 1: no matter what it is at the end of the season,
- 6:57Speaker 1: looking at that unit and feeling comfortable that we don't
- 7:01Speaker 1: really need to do anything else there. We can just
- 7:02Speaker 1: improve in other places. I think that is a huge,
- 7:05Speaker 1: huge barometer for this season. So you got Aaron Glenn
- 7:10Speaker 1: looking competent. I need, you know, when it comes to
- 7:15Speaker 1: the quote unquote, having guys ready to play, which I
- 7:18Speaker 1: know is not something that is easy to quantify, but
- 7:21Speaker 1: it is something that is, is real in the NFL.
- 7:24Speaker 1: There's some guys, there's some teams that at the beginning
- 7:27Speaker 1: of games from one week to the next, they don't
- 7:29Speaker 1: look ready to play. And that it could be schematically
- 7:33Speaker 1: that could be intensity wise. And I think that comes
- 7:37Speaker 1: down to the head coach. It seems like those teams
- 7:40Speaker 1: with the great head coaches, you're never really, uh, getting
- 7:44Speaker 1: that feeling like these guys just weren't ready and they
- 7:47Speaker 1: got hit in the mouth. Are the Jets going to
- 7:50Speaker 1: be the team that comes out there that's hitting other
- 7:51Speaker 1: teams in the mouth? And that comes down to Aaron Glenn. Competent,
- 7:56Speaker 1: clock management, down in distance, understanding when it's, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 1: time to pull the plug on a guy. You know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Aaron Glenn, it just, again, whether or not he's competent,
- 8:09Speaker 1: that's also not a super easy thing to, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 1: give exact parameters on, but you know it when you
- 8:16Speaker 1: see it, and you know when you don't. We need
- 8:17Speaker 1: Aaron Glenn to step up this year. You want to,
- 8:21Speaker 1: at the end of this season, feel like we have
- 8:23Speaker 1: our coach. I don't think anybody felt like that at
- 8:26Speaker 1: the end of last season. I think that many people
- 8:29Speaker 1: like myself are still willing to give him a chance.
- 8:32Speaker 1: He's talking about learning from his mistakes as far as
- 8:35Speaker 1: not calling the defense last year, not being as hands-on
- 8:39Speaker 1: with some of the things that he specializes in. his
- 8:42Speaker 1: overall surliness with the media. I'm hoping that Aaron Glenn
- 8:46Speaker 1: learns to just be a better football coach as well.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I actually have a lot of faith that he will.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I think he seems like somebody who will learn from mistakes.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I think most coaches, Sands, Urban Meyer, deserve second chances.
- 8:59Speaker 2: In terms of the Jets' schedule, it's such an interesting
- 9:04Speaker 2: mix for them because they have quite a mix between
- 9:08Speaker 2: a lot of winnable games, In a lot of games,
- 9:11Speaker 2: we were like, we've really got to play this team
- 9:15Speaker 2: because they've got to play the NFC North and the
- 9:17Speaker 2: AFC West.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Consecutively.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Why do we have to play the NFC North consecutively?
- 9:20Speaker 2: Those two divisions are full of that.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Everybody makes the playoffs. They're all playoff teams, and we've
- 9:24Speaker 1: got to play the NFC North all in a row, man.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's shitty.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Not that worried about the Packers anymore, though, man. I'm
- 9:34Speaker 1: telling you, the Packers just seem like they're ready to implode.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I feel like that. Now they got, you know, they got,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you know, Jones is out. He's on the list.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And when you're on the list. Yeah, Josh Jacobs. Josh Jacobs.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Commissioner exempt. Yeah, no. Commissioner exempt. Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Significant, though. You think? I mean, yeah, that's a fucking
- 9:53Speaker 1: big deal, man. And, you know, the list to me,
- 9:56Speaker 1: says basically you're out for the year. Adrian Peterson, back
- 10:00Speaker 1: in the day, he basically missed, what, 13 games?
- 10:02Speaker 2: That's what I'm.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Trying to tell you. Which, hold on, let me ask
- 10:05Speaker 1: you a question about AP. Because I saw a video
- 10:07Speaker 1: the other day of... ap's son and he's some fucking
- 10:11Speaker 1: crazy running back slash wide receiver slash slash slash d
- 10:15Speaker 1: backer linebacker he does everything right and he's i mean
- 10:17Speaker 1: he's just destroying kids and he's like 14 and his
- 10:20Speaker 1: workouts look insane his workouts look a lot better than
- 10:22Speaker 1: mr jaylen jaylon loves which i'm talking about yeah he
- 10:28Speaker 1: looks a lot better than his a.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Lot better we gotta get into that but again Before
- 10:33Speaker 2: the Jets, you know, I just want to talk about
- 10:35Speaker 2: the Jets schedule again really fast. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I have to ask you this question before I forget.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I don't have the attention span to come back to this.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Is that kid that we see the highlights of, is
- 10:46Speaker 1: that the one that AP was whooping his ass with
- 10:48Speaker 1: the belt back in the day with the switch?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I was going to say, that was, yeah, I'm
- 10:53Speaker 2: not sure, but I'm going to assume so because it's
- 10:55Speaker 2: been like 11 years since that whole incident.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I don't know, man. It kind of looks like, you know,
- 11:01Speaker 1: it kind of looks like it worked.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not going to sit here and condone that. But,
- 11:05Speaker 2: you know, it's pretty crazy, right? It's pretty crazy to
- 11:08Speaker 2: think about like 11 years later. Because I remember when
- 11:10Speaker 2: he was on that list. That was one of the
- 11:14Speaker 2: biggest stories that season in the NFL.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Oh, it was huge. It was huge.
- 11:17Speaker 2: It was massive.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Listen, listen. Okay. That's a big topic of whether or not,
- 11:23Speaker 1: you know, when kids are little, you know, putting their
- 11:25Speaker 1: hands on a ball. Again, I'm not touching that either.
- 11:28Speaker 1: You know, I personally... My voice scares my kids enough,
- 11:31Speaker 1: so we never have to go that far. But different from,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you go back a generation and, you know, lots of
- 11:38Speaker 1: kids were getting belts and switches and shoes or at
- 11:40Speaker 1: least a hand. But, yo, it's funny because I remember
- 11:47Speaker 1: the first thing I thought to myself when they said that, like, he, like,
- 11:50Speaker 1: you know, I forget, was it a, I don't forget
- 11:51Speaker 1: it was a belt or a switch, but he hit
- 11:53Speaker 1: him with something. He hit him with some sort of object.
- 11:55Speaker 2: He said publicly, he said in an interview that it
- 11:57Speaker 2: was a switch.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Okay, switch.
- 11:59Speaker 2: He said he would hit his kid with a switch.
- 12:02Speaker 2: In an interview, of all things.
- 12:04Speaker 1: But how much do you know about the switch, though, Balm?
- 12:06Speaker 1: Because I know that's more of a black folk thing.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I know nothing. I just know, you know, my dad
- 12:11Speaker 2: would tell me, you know, his stories from his childhood.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And he said he got a wooden cooking spoon.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Okay, see, that sounds more like, you know, that's a
- 12:20Speaker 1: city thing. That's the wooden cooking spoon. That's an Italian
- 12:23Speaker 1: Jewish thing. you know, Polish, like, yeah, that's what my friends,
- 12:27Speaker 1: you know, their parents would tell those types of stories.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Kids in my generation, not as much, but I'm sure
- 12:34Speaker 1: it was happening. Black folks with the switch, to give
- 12:38Speaker 1: you a little bit of, you know, a little context here, definitely,
- 12:41Speaker 1: you know, my mom talks about the switch. I was,
- 12:43Speaker 1: you know, I never had to deal with such a thing. But,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know, you're going outside and you're getting basically like
- 12:49Speaker 1: one of the small thin branches off of a tree. And,
- 12:53Speaker 1: Then you got to clean the leaves off of it.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And like, there was a whole thing about how you
- 12:57Speaker 1: had to, you had to pick a switch, which you
- 12:59Speaker 1: had to pick a good enough switch. And if you
- 13:01Speaker 1: did it, then that means that the, uh, the switchy
- 13:05Speaker 1: got to pick, um, the switch and therefore, and then,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you know, that would even go worse for you. My thing,
- 13:11Speaker 1: when I saw that, I was just like, yo, I mean, listen,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you know, I don't know if you've ever seen Adrian
- 13:18Speaker 1: Peterson with no shirt on, paws, but like, you know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: the body issue or whatever he did, he's a physical specimen.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I mean, obviously most running backs, professional athletes are. He's
- 13:30Speaker 1: on a slightly different level. He looked like he was
- 13:32Speaker 1: a Marvel character.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Dude, I'll take this down to a G-rated level for
- 13:36Speaker 2: you here for a minute because this is actually super interesting.
- 13:39Speaker 2: People would say when he would just like shake your hand,
- 13:42Speaker 2: he would basically break. It was like just meeting you
- 13:46Speaker 2: for the first time in a normal setting. You'd shake
- 13:48Speaker 2: his hand, and it was just like it would be broken, basically.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Well, so two things on that. First and foremost, the
- 13:57Speaker 1: people who shake your hand so hard. Now, Adrian Peterson,
- 14:00Speaker 1: he might have just been trying to shake your hand,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and he's just too strong. He couldn't do it. It
- 14:03Speaker 1: wasn't his fault. He didn't know any better. But people
- 14:05Speaker 1: that go in with the hard shake, and they go in,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and they really try to show you how hard they
- 14:10Speaker 1: can shake your hand, some of my least favorite people.
- 14:14Speaker 1: This is another one of those worst people in the
- 14:16Speaker 1: world type things.
- 14:17Speaker 2: And I believe that you should come with the former. Right.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Come with the firm shake. Firm is good. But some dudes,
- 14:25Speaker 1: it's like, it's a competition. It's like, bro, I've even had,
- 14:28Speaker 1: there's even been a couple of women who you could
- 14:30Speaker 1: tell that they were really trying to prove something. And
- 14:33Speaker 1: they came in with the strong shake. Me personally... You know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I just think that's ridiculous. And I take note of
- 14:39Speaker 1: those people. I take note of those people, and the
- 14:41Speaker 1: next time I come, I come correct. The key is
- 14:45Speaker 1: you clench with your opposite fist. You clench that into
- 14:49Speaker 1: a fist hard, and that allows you to be able
- 14:52Speaker 1: to squeeze even harder with the shake hand. And if
- 14:54Speaker 1: people come at me with that shit, the next time
- 14:56Speaker 1: I come, I try to bury them. But, yeah, nah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: the Adrian Peterson thing, man, it was like, yo, you
- 15:05Speaker 1: really need to get a switch? You could have flicked
- 15:08Speaker 1: that kid. And the kid probably would have had a
- 15:12Speaker 1: deep bone bruise. Like, yo, you really need to get
- 15:14Speaker 1: a switch? Hey, Pete, yo, chill. But I have no
- 15:18Speaker 1: idea how we got to Adrian Peterson and hitting kids
- 15:21Speaker 1: with switches.
- 15:22Speaker 2: We're talking about Josh Jacobs, the commissioner exemplist, and how
- 15:25Speaker 2: the Packers are not beatable, that you feel are beatable.
- 15:28Speaker 2: And I agree. I think the floor is a fraud.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I mean, it's a fraud.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Well, listen, you guys get both of them this year.
- 15:36Speaker 1: You get both of them this year. And, you know,
- 15:38Speaker 1: what's his name? And, you know, the younger brother, Mike, he's,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you know, he was a former Jets offensive coordinator. You know,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't know. There's a I don't hate on that.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I love floor. Michael floor. Not so much. Matt, on
- 15:55Speaker 1: the other hand, I think he's just a fraud. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: really do. I think he's been super lucky with great quarterbacks,
- 16:01Speaker 1: you know, his entire tenure over there. And I just,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you know, I don't think he's done enough with them.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Is it just me, or does it always look like
- 16:09Speaker 2: he's going to cry?
- 16:10Speaker 1: Oh, it looks like he's about to cry, yes.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Always looks like he's about to cry.
- 16:13Speaker 1: He's got a wet eye.
- 16:13Speaker 2: He's got the wet eye. Legitimately, like, the sad face,
- 16:17Speaker 2: like the sad puppy eyes and, like, You know, the
- 16:19Speaker 2: face is just like you just see it starting to quiver.
- 16:21Speaker 2: It's so weird.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Right, right, right. He's got the sad face, but he's
- 16:24Speaker 1: also got the wet eye. He looks like if he
- 16:25Speaker 1: blinks that the tears would just start to drop down
- 16:27Speaker 1: his cheeks. I don't know what that is about him,
- 16:29Speaker 1: and I've never really put words to it before, but
- 16:35Speaker 1: as soon as you said it, I was like, yes, absolutely.
- 16:37Speaker 1: He looks like he's about to cry at all times.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So Jets need to have that offensive line continuity. Aaron
- 16:42Speaker 1: Glenn needs to look competent, and then we need some
- 16:46Speaker 1: defensive improvement. Not one interception last year. We've already had
- 16:50Speaker 1: a few here in preseason. Aaron Glenn, the Jets' all-time
- 16:56Speaker 1: leader in interceptions, is the head coach. We've got to
- 17:00Speaker 1: create some turnovers this year. Last year, we created some fumbles,
- 17:03Speaker 1: but we were terrible at recovering them. This year, we absolutely,
- 17:07Speaker 1: positively have to create some turnovers. Now, we have a
- 17:13Speaker 1: beefed-up Will McDonald pause today. We have a rookie who
- 17:20Speaker 1: looks like he could be a sensation in David Bailey.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Great first step, has looked great during camp, has looked
- 17:25Speaker 1: great during the preseason, and has looked like he can
- 17:28Speaker 1: set an edge in the rushing game, which is the
- 17:30Speaker 1: big question on him coming out of Texas A & M.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And we also have some different schemes in an Aaron
- 17:40Speaker 1: Glenn-type defense that is supposed to be able to create
- 17:43Speaker 1: some pressure. So I think that that's going to lead
- 17:45Speaker 1: to some more turnovers. But we also need to catch
- 17:47Speaker 1: the ball when it comes to us, and we need
- 17:48Speaker 1: to jump some routes. And I'm hoping that Aaron Glenn
- 17:51Speaker 1: is coaching these guys up, Minka Fitzpatrick, you know, DeMario Davis,
- 17:55Speaker 1: both veterans. You know, with Minka, it's all about keeping
- 17:58Speaker 1: him on the field. And then, you know, it's going
- 18:01Speaker 1: to be interesting to see what that defense looks like
- 18:04Speaker 1: because almost everybody believes that the offense is going to
- 18:07Speaker 1: be much improved. I mean, Geno Smith is much better
- 18:09Speaker 1: than Justin Fields at everything other than, you know.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I would.
- 18:14Speaker 1: The thing is that I want to say everything other
- 18:16Speaker 1: than running the ball. I was extremely underwhelmed by Justin
- 18:19Speaker 1: Fields running the ball as well last year. It's not
- 18:21Speaker 1: even like he did that well. I didn't think we schemed.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I didn't think we had enough designed run plays for him.
- 18:26Speaker 1: But even when it was time for him to pull
- 18:28Speaker 1: a ball down and go and run for it, he
- 18:30Speaker 1: wasn't even that good at that. Like I've said, I
- 18:32Speaker 1: think that he's a really good rugby player. And then
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think that at the end of the day, you're
- 18:40Speaker 1: going to see Aaron Glenn's worth as a head coach drop.
- 18:44Speaker 1: depending on what happens with the defense. The offense should
- 18:48Speaker 1: be better. Offensive line, Geno Smith, you know, he's ready
- 18:52Speaker 1: to risk it to biscuit. You know what I'm saying?
- 18:54Speaker 1: He's going to throw the ball to the other team
- 18:56Speaker 1: a little bit, but he's going to throw the ball.
- 18:57Speaker 1: He's going to throw the ball down the field. Let's go.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Let's get Garen Wilson down the fucking field, and let's
- 19:01Speaker 1: get some exciting shit. I'm tired of seeing him having
- 19:03Speaker 1: to do crazy acrobatics to make an eight-yard catch. Let's
- 19:08Speaker 1: get him down the field. Frank Reich, let's go. Brees,
- 19:12Speaker 1: they say he's going to be ready for week one.
- 19:15Speaker 1: There's optimism that Sadiq is going to be ready for
- 19:18Speaker 1: week one, which is huge, even though he hasn't got
- 19:22Speaker 1: a ton of reps and he's a rookie. You got
- 19:24Speaker 1: Omar Cooper Jr. You know, the Jets have a chance, man.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Mason Taylor, they have a chance to have an exciting offense,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and especially if the offensive line can stay healthy and
- 19:36Speaker 1: the running backs can stay healthy. I need Brees. You
- 19:38Speaker 1: got Jacobs. He's doing his thing. And the last thing is,
- 19:42Speaker 1: to me, the most important. And the Jets are getting
- 19:47Speaker 1: a lot of criticism right now. because they have named
- 19:51Speaker 1: Cade Klubnick as the number two quarterback. And many people
- 19:56Speaker 1: are talking about the fact that he, you know, wasn't
- 19:59Speaker 1: even that highly touted. He was just a year ago.
- 20:04Speaker 1: But in this draft, obviously, he was a fourth round pick.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Didn't have his last year at Clemson wasn't that great.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I mean, he was playing with Dabo and his band
- 20:14Speaker 1: of misfits since he refuses to evolve with the game.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And therefore, you know, he just didn't have that good
- 20:21Speaker 1: of a year. And without him having that good of
- 20:24Speaker 1: a year, he drops and all of a sudden the
- 20:26Speaker 1: Jets pick him up and he's looked pretty good in preseason.
- 20:30Speaker 1: They say he's looked pretty good in camp. Frank Reich
- 20:32Speaker 1: seems to have a ton of confidence in him and
- 20:34Speaker 1: really feel like he has a chance to be a
- 20:36Speaker 1: real NFL quarterback. And everybody's criticizing the Jets for making
- 20:41Speaker 1: him the number two. And I totally agree with the
- 20:45Speaker 1: Jets that he should be your number two quarterback. And
- 20:48Speaker 1: the most important, the most by far important thing for
- 20:53Speaker 1: the New York Jets this season is to find out
- 20:57Speaker 1: what they have in Cade Klubnick. It's the most important thing.
- 21:03Speaker 1: You know, listen, unless... Gino is playing awesome, and we're
- 21:07Speaker 1: fighting for a playoff spot. I would say second half
- 21:10Speaker 1: of the season, definitely the last quarter of the season,
- 21:13Speaker 1: he needs to be in there playing no matter what,
- 21:16Speaker 1: no matter what Gino's doing. Obviously, if Gino's playing really well,
- 21:20Speaker 1: we fight for a spot. You're not going to pull
- 21:22Speaker 1: him out then, but the biggest mistake that the Jets
- 21:26Speaker 1: could make is to have a high pick next year,
- 21:30Speaker 1: which means they don't, have a ton of success as
- 21:35Speaker 1: far as wins and losses this season, but not know
- 21:40Speaker 1: if Cade is the guy that you want to hand
- 21:42Speaker 1: the keys to for the future. You got three picks
- 21:46Speaker 1: in next year's first round. You got a young team
- 21:50Speaker 1: and some really good players and some veterans that are
- 21:54Speaker 1: in position that you're not going to be in. You're
- 21:57Speaker 1: going to have a lot of holes that are already filled.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Pause. Pause.
- 22:02Speaker 1: So what you really got to do is you got
- 22:04Speaker 1: to see whether or not Cade is that guy, or
- 22:07Speaker 1: if you need to, you know, use one of those
- 22:10Speaker 1: high picks or package up some of those high picks
- 22:12Speaker 1: or some future picks to go for your guy quarterback
- 22:15Speaker 1: in a quarterback heavy draft. The team that we share
- 22:22Speaker 1: met life with. I think they're a perfect example. If
- 22:26Speaker 1: you look at last year, the way that they, turned
- 22:30Speaker 1: the keys over to Jackson Dart, and by the end
- 22:33Speaker 1: of the season, they were like, we got our guy.
- 22:35Speaker 1: The Jets need to figure that out either way by
- 22:37Speaker 1: the end of the season.
- 22:38Speaker 2: You 100% said everything that I was going to say
- 22:42Speaker 2: with Klubnik. Unless the Jets are competing for a spot,
- 22:45Speaker 2: they 100% need to see what they have at them.
- 22:50Speaker 2: There's no question about it. Because again, if you think
- 22:53Speaker 2: you do have something with them, You have three first-round
- 22:57Speaker 2: picks to get other very talented players at very cheap
- 23:00Speaker 2: costs in other places while you have three years of
- 23:04Speaker 2: Klubnick on the mad cheap, like the 49ers had a
- 23:07Speaker 2: couple years ago with Brock. You have a chance to
- 23:09Speaker 2: really soup up your roster that way if you think
- 23:13Speaker 2: Klubnick's the guy. If you don't and you think he's
- 23:15Speaker 2: just a backup, then fine. You spend one of those
- 23:18Speaker 2: three picks on a quarterback in a quarterback-heavy draft. So, yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 2: the Jets absolutely need to see what they have in
- 23:24Speaker 2: Klubnick Unless Geno just goes crazy and the Jets are
- 23:28Speaker 2: right in that picture of playoffs, then obviously you don't
- 23:30Speaker 2: do anything.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah, man. It seems pretty simple, but it's the Jets. So,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you know, let's hope they don't find a way to
- 23:37Speaker 1: fuck it all up. The New York Mets, they lost
- 23:41Speaker 1: to the Rays tonight. They split the first two games
- 23:44Speaker 1: of the series. Rubber match tomorrow. Yankee fans, we were
- 23:49Speaker 1: not able to help you out tonight as Freddy Peralta throws...
- 23:55Speaker 1: Quite the game against the Mets. Keeps them down to
- 23:57Speaker 1: only one run. A lead-off home run by Francisco Lindor.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Peralta started off, I think his first four or five
- 24:03Speaker 1: starts with the Rays. Not so great. Been throwing his
- 24:06Speaker 1: change up a lot more, and he's looking better. Listen,
- 24:09Speaker 1: the Mets, you know, the whole time of being like, ah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: you got to believe, you know, let's pay attention to,
- 24:17Speaker 1: you know, what's going on with these, let's pay attention
- 24:21Speaker 1: to do we have a chance to, you know, get
- 24:24Speaker 1: to some sort of playoff contention? Can we make a run?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Can it be fun to finish the season? Okay, well,
- 24:30Speaker 1: that shit's dead. And with that being dead, then you
- 24:37Speaker 1: have to look at September. And to me, it's about
- 24:41Speaker 1: making some tough decisions. It's about giving some guys a
- 24:46Speaker 1: little bit of rope and seeing what they are and
- 24:50Speaker 1: making some tough decisions that I think personally should have
- 24:53Speaker 1: already been made and I'm looking specifically at Brett Beatty
- 25:00Speaker 1: and Vientos honestly like to me it's like I'm standing
- 25:06Speaker 1: with you know my feet on the five yard line
- 25:10Speaker 1: and it's coming in end over end and am I
- 25:12Speaker 1: gonna fair catch or am I gonna let this one
- 25:14Speaker 1: bounce because I feel like it's time to let both
- 25:20Speaker 1: of those guys and Neither of them have any type of,
- 25:26Speaker 1: you know, trade value. They're both under control for a while.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So I guess regardless, they come back next year, they
- 25:34Speaker 1: break camp. But I think that if you go into
- 25:37Speaker 1: next season and you're expecting either Beatty or Vientos to
- 25:44Speaker 1: be a real part of the plan, they're just not
- 25:50Speaker 1: major league hitters. They're not, not on a consistent basis.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Vientos is not a major league fielder in any way, shape,
- 25:57Speaker 1: or form. Definitely not at third. At first, he's slightly better,
- 25:59Speaker 1: but he still sucks. You know who he's not as
- 26:01Speaker 1: good at, at playing first base? A guy who's also
- 26:05Speaker 1: like the hottest hitter on the fucking planet right now.
- 26:07Speaker 1: And once again, he's going to have 30 and 100.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Peter Alonso. Fucking, fucking. That shit pisses me off every
- 26:17Speaker 1: goddamn day, yo. Every day I see something about Pete
- 26:20Speaker 1: and it pisses me off. I fucking forgot to change
- 26:22Speaker 1: my hat. I'm gonna have to watch this shit for
- 26:31Speaker 1: the fucking next however many years. This is my generation's
- 26:34Speaker 1: Tom Seaver. Where I'm just gonna have to spend years
- 26:39Speaker 1: watching this guy down in Baltimore doing what he's Always done. Always.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Mash home runs and drive-in runs. But, you know, the
- 26:52Speaker 1: Mets will be looking for a power-hitting first baseman going
- 26:57Speaker 1: into next year. He can't make this shit up.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I got one we can offer you. He just hit
- 27:10Speaker 2: his 31st home run of the year tonight. It's not
- 27:12Speaker 2: Pete Alonzo. It's some guy who's still somehow on your
- 27:15Speaker 2: fantasy team, even though I should have traded the bag
- 27:16Speaker 2: of balls for him, Rafael Devers.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Listen, Devers, my guy, three-run ding-dong tonight. And he's, you know,
- 27:26Speaker 1: getting hot at the right time, still looking like a
- 27:28Speaker 1: top 50 fantasy player. Had a really, really– I had
- 27:33Speaker 1: to change my team name and get up off of
- 27:34Speaker 1: him because I couldn't have him be– it was better
- 27:37Speaker 1: late than Devers for quite some time. I had to
- 27:39Speaker 1: get up off of it. And now we're just starting off.
- 27:41Speaker 1: We're getting to the playoffs. Your boy is the number
- 27:43Speaker 1: two seed.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Dude, he's the most hitter in the league right now.
- 27:46Speaker 1: This is what I'm trying to tell you. Let's go.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Going into tonight's game, he was 13 for his last
- 27:52Speaker 2: 31 with four homers. And then he took schemes to
- 27:55Speaker 2: dead center. He's also this year– His defense at first
- 28:00Speaker 2: base has been a borderline revelation.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Really?
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Dude, I don't know what Ron Washington does, but
- 28:07Speaker 2: that guy works absolute magic. He turned the rest of
- 28:11Speaker 2: Ryan into a gold glover.
- 28:13Speaker 1: He is unreal. That's what I'm saying. Chop it up
- 28:16Speaker 1: for my man, Ron. Give him another line.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Let him do his fucking thing. I will say, one
- 28:21Speaker 2: great watch story that I do have personally, when he
- 28:25Speaker 2: was still the third base coach of the A's, I
- 28:27Speaker 2: was 15, 16 years old, went to a Giants A's game, ballpark, and,
- 28:32Speaker 2: you know, it's like a Saturday afternoon game. We had
- 28:33Speaker 2: a little time to kill for fairies coming home and
- 28:37Speaker 2: everything like that because that's how we got to games
- 28:38Speaker 2: back in that day because our parents never wanted to
- 28:40Speaker 2: drive us into the city. You know, bridge tolls, traffic,
- 28:43Speaker 2: all that fun shit. We're walking around the ballpark. We
- 28:47Speaker 2: see a couple of Giants players come out, you know,
- 28:49Speaker 2: with their dogs and whatnot. You know, we're walking down
- 28:53Speaker 2: by the bay where the visiting players' entrance is. We
- 28:57Speaker 2: just see Wash come out of the clubhouse, and he's
- 29:02Speaker 2: fully dressed in his just normal street clothes. Gives us
- 29:07Speaker 2: all the what-up sign, throws a peace sign or whatever.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Next thing he does, rips out a pack and just
- 29:13Speaker 2: starts ripping off a dart just in the middle of everybody.
- 29:17Speaker 2: What a legend.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Well, that's because he had just done a line.
- 29:20Speaker 2: These were the younger years for him, too, so probably.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Oh, come on, man. We know what my man was doing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen,
- 29:30Speaker 1: that's the thing. I mean, you know, there's that iconic
- 29:32Speaker 1: picture of Keith Hernandez smoking a dart in the fucking dugout.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I mean, you know, there was different times back then,
- 29:39Speaker 1: my friend. We know around Washington, he gets after. He
- 29:43Speaker 1: likes to party. Good for him, man. And, yeah, I mean,
- 29:45Speaker 1: as far as infield coaching, we've seen him do it
- 29:47Speaker 1: over and over again, different stops, doesn't matter where he is, just,
- 29:50Speaker 1: you know. But, you know, that's another thing that really
- 29:56Speaker 1: pisses me off. is the Mets and some of the
- 30:00Speaker 1: decisions that they've made here recently around some of their
- 30:06Speaker 1: bench coaches, coaches. So what are the Mets going to
- 30:10Speaker 1: do now? The Mets are going to go looking for...
- 30:12Speaker 1: I want our next manager to be Carlos Beltran, personally.
- 30:19Speaker 1: But we did the whole Eric Chavez thing for a while.
- 30:25Speaker 1: That went down in Flavs. And then the thing that
- 30:30Speaker 1: really pissed me off was, you know, last year you
- 30:35Speaker 1: have Antoine Richardson as your first base coach. The team
- 30:39Speaker 1: is stealing more bases than it ever has before. Juan
- 30:42Speaker 1: Soto specifically. I mean, and it's not, they're stealing bases with,
- 30:46Speaker 1: with smarts and guile. It's not a bunch of speedsters.
- 30:48Speaker 1: It's guys that are clearly, they got something going on
- 30:51Speaker 1: and we let this guy leave and then go to
- 30:53Speaker 1: the Braves. Like, what the fuck is Stearns doing? Like,
- 30:58Speaker 1: what was he doing this offseason? We're going to end
- 31:00Speaker 1: up finding out that, like, he was being, like, extorted
- 31:03Speaker 1: or some shit. Like, maybe, like, it's some brand-new, like,
- 31:07Speaker 1: Wilpon Madoff type shit. I don't fucking know. But it's
- 31:10Speaker 1: really hard to understand some of the decisions that this
- 31:12Speaker 1: guy made. And, you know, this offseason, he has to
- 31:17Speaker 1: knock it out of the fucking park. He really does.
- 31:21Speaker 1: This is fucking New York City. There's no fucking more
- 31:23Speaker 1: gap years and that bullshit. You're going to have to
- 31:26Speaker 1: do a lot for me not to fucking opine over Pete.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And I really don't think there's anything that he can do.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you mostly. The only issue is
- 31:35Speaker 2: going to be the damn lockout. It's going to be
- 31:38Speaker 2: a rampant offseason. They're going to miss some time. I'd
- 31:43Speaker 2: be stuck. No doubt, 100%. It's going to be ugly, nasty.
- 31:46Speaker 2: It's going to be an absolute bloodbath. So when that
- 31:49Speaker 2: time finally does come and players can sign, it's going
- 31:53Speaker 2: to be really fascinating. It's going to be more like
- 31:56Speaker 2: the NFL than what you see in a normal Major
- 31:59Speaker 2: League Baseball offseason. Like, you know how NFL offseason gets.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Second free agency hits, guys are just signing left and right.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You're like, oh, crap, I didn't realize that guy was bleached.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah, let me get that guaranteed money because baseball typically
- 32:12Speaker 1: goes way deeper.
- 32:12Speaker 2: It's a slower process.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But isn't that one of the things that I saw
- 32:16Speaker 1: recently that either, I forget which side, but one of
- 32:18Speaker 1: the sides have proposed like having a baseball offseason that's
- 32:21Speaker 1: just more condensed?
- 32:22Speaker 2: Yeah, the owners did.
- 32:23Speaker 1: The owners did. I mean, listen, I think that's good
- 32:26Speaker 1: just for the buzz that it creates. Like NFL and
- 32:30Speaker 1: NBA offseason are events. Baseball, that shit where it's like, okay,
- 32:34Speaker 1: training camp has started and there are still huge names
- 32:38Speaker 1: that are out there unsigned. that's not good for the game.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I don't think it's not good for the creating excitement
- 32:42Speaker 1: around the game.
- 32:44Speaker 2: No, definitely. But I mean, also you have the difference
- 32:46Speaker 2: with baseball too, is contracts are basically fully guaranteed. Like
- 32:49Speaker 2: the NFL, there's like three. Yeah.
- 32:51Speaker 1: But NBA, they're fully guaranteed too.
- 32:53Speaker 2: You only have five years in the NBA. You also
- 32:55Speaker 2: only have five year deals in the NBA and baseball.
- 32:57Speaker 2: You have guys signing for 10 plus or, you know,
- 33:00Speaker 2: seven to eight plus years. It's, it's significantly more capital.
- 33:04Speaker 2: It's significantly slower process. It seems.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Honestly, one thing, you know, I'm always pro player, always
- 33:13Speaker 1: pro player. I'm always pro workforce, shorter contracts in baseball,
- 33:19Speaker 1: you know, getting a, getting a CBA where it's like, Hey,
- 33:21Speaker 1: there's no, there's no salary cap, but like the max
- 33:26Speaker 1: deal can be only X amount of years and X
- 33:33Speaker 1: amount of dollars. So therefore you are putting a cap
- 33:37Speaker 1: on what somebody can earn depending on their tenure and
- 33:40Speaker 1: their accolades, but at the same time, don't tell me
- 33:43Speaker 1: my team can't sign one of those at every single
- 33:46Speaker 1: position if I want to. I think that's actually a
- 33:50Speaker 1: pretty good compromise where you're not getting hamstrung with these 13,
- 33:55Speaker 1: 14-year deals. You're giving a guy a five-year deal and
- 34:01Speaker 1: you're giving him, what, 40, 50? What's the highest AAV
- 34:06Speaker 1: right now in baseball?
- 34:08Speaker 2: I believe right now it's Juan Soto, 51. 15 years, 765, right?
- 34:12Speaker 2: There you go.
- 34:14Speaker 1: So give me, say 5 for 50 is the max
- 34:18Speaker 1: that you can get. Let's go 7. Let's split the
- 34:21Speaker 1: baby and go 7.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Actually, I'm actually wrong on this. It's actually Kyle Tucker.
- 34:25Speaker 2: He's getting $ 60 million a year right now with no deferrals.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Soto's second, 51. And then Shohei Otani has the actual
- 34:35Speaker 2: highest AAV, but obviously... Deferred bullshit. Yeah, every last ounce
- 34:41Speaker 2: of it is deferred. So his only... His counts $ 2
- 34:45Speaker 2: million against the CBT, which owners basically use as a
- 34:48Speaker 2: de facto salary cap, even though it isn't a salary cap.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, the deferred money fixed that shit.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I think a max on how much you can... On
- 35:00Speaker 1: how much you can make... you know, just as ours
- 35:04Speaker 1: are our length of contract. I don't think those things
- 35:07Speaker 1: are bad for baseball. Cause I think that sometimes, you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: these guys want, you know, if that was the case, shit,
- 35:12Speaker 1: Pete Alonzo would still be a Met, you know, cause
- 35:16Speaker 1: we'd have known that, Hey, this is what he can get.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And this is what it is. And like, it's either
- 35:20Speaker 1: you want to give them the max or you don't.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I kind of like that, but I don't think the
- 35:24Speaker 1: players union probably never go for that shit either. Baseball player,
- 35:27Speaker 1: you players union, this guy, they've had the whole thing
- 35:29Speaker 1: by the balls for so long. And that's the thing.
- 35:31Speaker 1: The owners feel like they have to make a change.
- 35:33Speaker 1: And if I'm the players, I'm just like, all right, well,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you know, let's see how long y'all want to sit out.
- 35:38Speaker 1: But the owners have very deep pockets and they have
- 35:42Speaker 1: other streams of income. The players always end up breaking
- 35:45Speaker 1: first because the people that are on the lower levels,
- 35:49Speaker 1: they need the money. And I don't know how what
- 35:52Speaker 1: they're going to try and do. I know previously with
- 35:54Speaker 1: labor agreements from different sports, you've had guys who make
- 35:57Speaker 1: more money kind of, you know, making sure that the
- 35:59Speaker 1: guys with the smaller paychecks can, you know, stay above
- 36:02Speaker 1: water while they figure things out. I think it's too
- 36:06Speaker 1: vast at this point to be able to do something
- 36:08Speaker 1: like that. So it doesn't seem like either team, either
- 36:11Speaker 1: side is willing to budge and they're making any progress.
- 36:14Speaker 1: So we'll see how that ends up going. But for now,
- 36:17Speaker 1: the Mets need to make some decisions. They need to
- 36:20Speaker 1: figure out a way to understand, like, listen. Okay, so Thornton,
- 36:25Speaker 1: he looks like he's a rotation guy. Guy in rotation
- 36:28Speaker 1: next year. You know, you have your outfield set. First
- 36:35Speaker 1: base is young. Is he your first baseman of the future?
- 36:38Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think he's a valuable player.
- 36:40Speaker 1: He could be like a, you know, utility type guy.
- 36:44Speaker 1: He's had some really, really good, you know, months. And
- 36:46Speaker 1: he's had a pretty good, he's had a solid season
- 36:49Speaker 1: for the amount he's played.
- 36:50Speaker 2: He has.
- 36:52Speaker 1: And then, you know, third base, you know, you got Bichette.
- 36:56Speaker 1: It looks like he's going to probably opt in for
- 36:58Speaker 1: next year. I hope to have a big year and
- 37:00Speaker 1: then sign a big deal after that. Second base, you
- 37:04Speaker 1: got to figure that out. Ewing is our center fielder,
- 37:08Speaker 1: but he can play second base fairly competently from what
- 37:13Speaker 1: people say. But Viento, Spady, they got to go. They
- 37:19Speaker 1: got to go. They're just not the guys. Fresh– Fresh
- 37:26Speaker 1: hat alert. This hat just came in last week, and
- 37:36Speaker 1: I wanted this hat when it first came out. The
- 37:38Speaker 1: Knicks finals, the Knicks championship hats that they were wearing
- 37:40Speaker 1: on the court, I didn't really love those. I honestly
- 37:44Speaker 1: thought that all of the postgame, you know, from the
- 37:48Speaker 1: shirts to the hats, all of it, I really think
- 37:51Speaker 1: that they thought San Antonio was going to win, and
- 37:53Speaker 1: they made it for San Antonio. I really do. That's
- 37:56Speaker 1: how it felt. Go look at those final shirts again
- 37:59Speaker 1: and tell me that shirt. It looks like it was
- 38:01Speaker 1: supposed to have a fucking Knicks logo on it. Shit
- 38:03Speaker 1: looks like a Spurs. It's black and gray. And the
- 38:07Speaker 1: hat as well. I didn't like the hat. So when
- 38:10Speaker 1: they came out with the Knicks, just normal Knicks hat
- 38:12Speaker 1: with the finals patch, I went to go get it.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I'm a seven and five eighths. I got a big head.
- 38:16Speaker 1: They don't make a whole lot of fucking hats our
- 38:17Speaker 1: sizes in the first place. And then it was sold out.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So then finally I got the notification that it's here
- 38:24Speaker 1: and I got The final set. I promised my wife
- 38:30Speaker 1: this was the final piece to my Knicks championship paraphernalia.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I may have just ordered some shorts. What are we
- 38:45Speaker 1: going to do, man? No, listen, listen. Let's not act
- 38:47Speaker 1: like she ain't, you know, she got herself an OG shirt.
- 38:50Speaker 1: She loves OG. She loves OG. She thinks OG's hilarious,
- 38:54Speaker 1: but it is. He's, you know, she's like, he's the
- 38:56Speaker 1: perfect amount of autistic.
- 38:57Speaker 2: He's great.
- 38:59Speaker 1: And then she got another shirt that's got like the
- 39:02Speaker 1: five starters with like their signatures on it. And then
- 39:06Speaker 1: she got another joint. It's like a, it's kind of
- 39:09Speaker 1: like a, like a, like almost like a purplish, like
- 39:11Speaker 1: lilac color, but it's just got like an old school,
- 39:13Speaker 1: like Knicks with like the hoop and like the ball
- 39:15Speaker 1: going through it. And it's got the matching shorts. That
- 39:20Speaker 1: fit right there. I told her, you know, If I
- 39:23Speaker 1: had already gotten snipped and she wore that, you know,
- 39:26Speaker 1: we might have another kid on the way.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I have a question about the shirt with the five
- 39:30Speaker 2: stars and the signature on them. Do they actually look
- 39:33Speaker 2: like the five starters?
- 39:36Speaker 1: I forget. There's one person who's a little bit off,
- 39:38Speaker 1: but I forget who it is. She gets this shit on, like, Etsy, dog.
- 39:42Speaker 1: She gets this shit on, like, Etsy. And, like, the
- 39:43Speaker 1: shirt costs, like, $ 7. 52. It's like somebody's, like.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Hey, if you want this shirt, I will make it
- 39:49Speaker 1: for you right now and send it to you, basically. But, yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: she got all those three things on Etsy, I believe.
- 39:53Speaker 1: The OG shirts. Her shirt is the shirt with the
- 39:56Speaker 1: guys because it's kind of like an illustration. And I
- 40:00Speaker 1: think four out of the five look very legit. I
- 40:02Speaker 1: forget which one it is. I want to say Josh
- 40:05Speaker 1: Hart is a little sus. A little bit sus. Oh, yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Apparently, somewhere in practice happens about complaining in practice. Hold on.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Not Etsy. Not Etsy. It seems that the missus is
- 40:20Speaker 1: watching right now, and it is Sheen. Yo, shout out
- 40:28Speaker 1: to you for hearing me talk all this shit all
- 40:30Speaker 1: the time, and you're actually somewhere. I guess you're in
- 40:33Speaker 1: the other room watching right now. I hope you're not
- 40:37Speaker 1: watching on the big screen and they didn't, you know,
- 40:39Speaker 1: hear my whole talk about the jumpsuit and what that
- 40:41Speaker 1: would have led to for the kids and my in-laws. But, yeah. No,
- 40:50Speaker 1: she's cooking. She's cooking. She's got the headphones in. You know, look, man. Look, man.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Who's got it better than me? Out there doing a
- 40:56Speaker 1: thing in the kitchen and listening to your boy. And
- 40:59Speaker 1: it is Sheen. Yes, it is Sheen. And, you know, the...
- 41:08Speaker 1: The Knicks gear that's come to this house between that's her,
- 41:13Speaker 1: then you got me, my son, my daughter. Everybody got
- 41:17Speaker 1: a shirt when I went back to New York. My
- 41:19Speaker 1: son got the Brunson finals jersey. He's back on his feet.
- 41:23Speaker 1: He's out here. He's ready to go. He's ready to go.
- 41:27Speaker 1: We're working. Me and him, we're working. We did a
- 41:29Speaker 1: Spider-Man workout yesterday, which is five pull-ups, ten push-ups, and.
- 41:36Speaker 1: And 15 squats, 20 minutes. How many rounds can you do?
- 41:40Speaker 1: He's in way better shape than I am. Let's put
- 41:42Speaker 1: it that way.
- 41:43Speaker 2: I believe this deserves a little bit of a sound bite.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Hang on one second for me.
- 41:51Speaker 1: There you go. There you go. Yeah, man, I'm. I'm
- 41:58Speaker 1: proud of him, man. You know, you watch a kid
- 42:00Speaker 1: snap his leg. And then, you know, he comes back and,
- 42:03Speaker 1: you know, at first he's walking with a limp. He's
- 42:05Speaker 1: kind of getting back, but he's working hard and he's
- 42:08Speaker 1: coming back. And like I said, he's in way better
- 42:10Speaker 1: shape than me. Yo, that Spider-Man workout, that shit is
- 42:12Speaker 1: no joke. I thought I was, I came inside after
- 42:15Speaker 1: I was done. I just laid on the ground for
- 42:17Speaker 1: a good like 15 minutes. My wife was like, did
- 42:19Speaker 1: you shower? I was like, no, I collapsed. But my
- 42:22Speaker 1: son did a significant, I'll put the numbers out there.
- 42:26Speaker 1: In the 20 minutes, Tom Holland, by the way, can
- 42:28Speaker 1: do 27 rounds within 20 minutes. Um, and, uh, my son,
- 42:34Speaker 1: he did, um, 15 rounds yesterday. I did 10. So,
- 42:40Speaker 1: you know, I, I, I got, I gotta, I gotta
- 42:42Speaker 1: keep at least like stacking and adding one and doing
- 42:46Speaker 1: my best to, uh, you know, at least keep it
- 42:48Speaker 1: respectable between him and I, because I'm sure he'll be,
- 42:51Speaker 1: he'll be getting close to that 20 number. And I
- 42:53Speaker 1: don't think, I don't know if 15's ever in my,
- 42:55Speaker 1: in my future. That shit is hard. Um, but yeah, man, um,
- 43:00Speaker 1: New York Knicks, man, uh, I, you know, not a
- 43:02Speaker 1: lot of news, but then today you get a, uh,
- 43:08Speaker 1: a podcast that drops with Kendrick Perkins and, um, Richard Jefferson.
- 43:13Speaker 1: And I forget the, the, the woman who hosts it, um,
- 43:17Speaker 1: forgive me. And what's the name of their podcast podcast?
- 43:20Speaker 1: Look it up for me.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I've actually never heard of this podcast. I'm going to
- 43:22Speaker 2: assume it's Malika Andrews.
- 43:24Speaker 1: No, it's not Malika Andrews. No, it's not her. It's
- 43:26Speaker 1: not her. I know Malika Andrews. Kendrick Perkins podcast road
- 43:36Speaker 1: tripping there you go road tripping and it's Channing Fry
- 43:39Speaker 1: Richard Jefferson Kendrick Perkins and then those are co-hosts there
- 43:45Speaker 1: you go shout to Ally let's make sure we don't
- 43:47Speaker 1: forget her but yeah I didn't get to listen to
- 43:50Speaker 1: the whole thing I got to listen to some of
- 43:51Speaker 1: it on the way home and then it was Mets
- 43:53Speaker 1: and then I was hopping on here and talking to
- 43:55Speaker 1: you people but um Yeah, so Brunson, I fucking love
- 44:02Speaker 1: this guy. I fucking love this guy, man. I mean,
- 44:06Speaker 1: he's just, he's all business. You know, there's no better
- 44:09Speaker 1: way than to just, you know, go ahead and quote
- 44:12Speaker 1: him directly. I went ahead and pulled this up. And
- 44:17Speaker 1: when asked about, you know, the whole... next season and
- 44:24Speaker 1: whether that involves putting their most recent title victory in
- 44:27Speaker 1: the back of their minds. Brunson replied, we have all
- 44:32Speaker 1: these people telling us how great we are. We won
- 44:35Speaker 1: in New York and everyone in New York is up
- 44:37Speaker 1: on their high horse. Everyone's saying that the best things
- 44:39Speaker 1: about us, even though in the middle of the year,
- 44:42Speaker 1: they're probably saying the worst as well. When we were
- 44:45Speaker 1: two and nine, the Knicks had a stint, I want
- 44:48Speaker 1: to believe in January where they went to a nine.
- 44:50Speaker 1: So it was definitely like a roller coaster of a ride,
- 44:53Speaker 1: but it's important for us to come into the season
- 44:55Speaker 1: and be like, all right, that's over with, right? We
- 44:58Speaker 1: don't want to speak of the trophy. We don't want
- 45:00Speaker 1: to talk about the trophy. And we don't want to
- 45:03Speaker 1: see the trophy, right?
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so Nick, again, was talking about Jalen Brunson and
- 45:13Speaker 2: trying to get the Knicks back to promise. I also
- 45:16Speaker 2: agree with this as well. It's something... That when you
- 45:20Speaker 2: do win, it's all great. But yeah, you've got to
- 45:22Speaker 2: move on quick. And now you've got a chance to
- 45:24Speaker 2: do the next best thing, which is to try and
- 45:26Speaker 2: run it back, do it again. And you have the
- 45:29Speaker 2: potential to, with all these guys right in the prime
- 45:32Speaker 2: of their careers, have a legitimate shot at a dynasty.
- 45:36Speaker 2: And if you're sitting there resting on the laurels of
- 45:38Speaker 2: one title, you're going to lose everything and it can
- 45:41Speaker 2: all be forgotten. You see Philly trying to load up.
- 45:44Speaker 2: You see Boston trying to reload, trying to beat the Knicks.
- 45:48Speaker 2: And you have a chance to vanquish all those teams again.
- 45:51Speaker 2: And then, you know, vanquish whoever is coming out of
- 45:53Speaker 2: the West, whether it be Oklahoma City or the Spurs,
- 45:55Speaker 2: most likely. Or, you know, some team may come out
- 45:57Speaker 2: of nowhere and get there. But the Knicks have a
- 45:59Speaker 2: chance to do something even more special than they've already done.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And they really should try to capitalize on that. And
- 46:06Speaker 2: I respect Brunson's mindset on it without him really talking
- 46:09Speaker 2: about it as well. And I believe we got Nick
- 46:13Speaker 2: back here. We're back.
- 46:15Speaker 1: We're back. Hold on. Hold on. There we go. There
- 46:24Speaker 1: we go. Yeah, man, a little technical difficulties, but we're back.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I heard the tail end of what you were saying
- 46:30Speaker 1: there at the end, Baum. Basically, you know, just talking
- 46:33Speaker 1: about the fact that we do have that opportunity to
- 46:35Speaker 1: get back and get another championship. First time since the Warriors.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Nobody's been back-to-back since the Warriors either. And obviously, when
- 46:46Speaker 1: you do win something like that, you put yourself in
- 46:49Speaker 1: an entire different echelon. So, for me personally... I just
- 46:55Speaker 1: love Brunson in his mindset. I love everything about the guy.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I love everything that he says. I just, it's the
- 47:02Speaker 1: exact type of guy that you need in your locker room,
- 47:06Speaker 1: you know, as the head of your snake, I'm going
- 47:10Speaker 1: to continue to revel in this and just, and celebrate
- 47:13Speaker 1: it just quite. I mean, definitely up to up through
- 47:16Speaker 1: opening night. And then even after that, up until, you know,
- 47:20Speaker 1: we hoist the trophy again next summer, I'm going to be,
- 47:23Speaker 1: looking at people saying Nixon five and saying, well, you know,
- 47:26Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you still got to
- 47:27Speaker 1: beat the champs. But I really am beginning to believe,
- 47:30Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I see Carl Anthony towns, the
- 47:33Speaker 1: pictures of him, he looks like he's in fantastic shape.
- 47:36Speaker 1: You know, he's, he's looking to be able to get
- 47:39Speaker 1: up and down the floor and to be able to
- 47:41Speaker 1: facilitate and be able to move his feet on defense.
- 47:43Speaker 1: And I think, you know, him being a little bit
- 47:45Speaker 1: lighter on his feet is a good thing. He's so strong.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Nobody's moving him. He's still a massive human being. And
- 47:53Speaker 1: then I think that Mike Brown is going to continue
- 47:57Speaker 1: to evolve. I think, you know, Mikael Bridges is going
- 47:59Speaker 1: to be playing without any real pressure and real agita
- 48:04Speaker 1: with him. I think Jose Alvarado matures into his role
- 48:06Speaker 1: a little bit more. I think that Deuce McBride might
- 48:08Speaker 1: need to get moved for a rim-running, rim-protecting center. And
- 48:13Speaker 1: I'm just excited to see what he's next going to do.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And I'm so happy that our leader is the one
- 48:18Speaker 1: and only Jalen Marquise Brunson. Yo, what's up with... Dajon Love.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Well, you know, if the Niners just couldn't, you know,
- 48:30Speaker 2: find their way into any more content this offseason, is
- 48:35Speaker 2: this not like one of the wildest stories that you
- 48:38Speaker 2: have ever heard?
- 48:40Speaker 1: So, a couple things. First and foremost, just on the
- 48:42Speaker 1: Niners part. No, no person wears that much gear. I
- 48:50Speaker 1: don't wear that much Nick gear. No Nick player wears
- 48:53Speaker 1: that much Nick gear. No 49ers player wears that much
- 48:56Speaker 1: 49ers gear as this guy does. Every time you see it,
- 48:58Speaker 1: I mean, the shit with the helmet. Bro, okay, so
- 49:01Speaker 1: first and foremost, okay.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Yo, it's hilarious. The helmet now makes, and the headband.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Makes perfect sense. Make way more sense. The fucking helmet
- 49:12Speaker 1: is hilarious because like, bro, what dude who's good who
- 49:14Speaker 1: plays for the fucking for plays professional football is out
- 49:18Speaker 1: on the beach with the helmet on running like fucking
- 49:21Speaker 1: slow ass routes and shit and with the quarterback who's
- 49:25Speaker 1: throwing you just like lollipops like with nothing on it
- 49:27Speaker 1: i mean come.
- 49:29Speaker 2: On man how crappy those routes were i gotta i
- 49:32Speaker 2: gotta tweet for you here though i gotta i gotta
- 49:34Speaker 2: i got a really funny tweet So the New York
- 49:37Speaker 2: Post tweeted the mugshot of Dajon Love and his accomplice
- 49:42Speaker 2: earlier today. And it says, 49ers imposter is alleged accomplice
- 49:46Speaker 2: banned from dating apps as mugshot revealed. And this comes
- 49:50Speaker 2: from at Kirk Wong underscore, my guy Kirk up here
- 49:54Speaker 2: in Portland. And he quote tweets it with, The Rush
- 49:58Speaker 2: Hour of Scammers. The two crying emojis. You saw it?
- 50:03Speaker 2: That is my buddy Kirk up here in Portland.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Oh, that's your boy?
- 50:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my guy up here, Kirk.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Oh, that's hilarious.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Dude, he's incredible. Like the absolute man. I lost it
- 50:13Speaker 2: when I saw that tweet this morning knowing it was him.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Doug, Doug, yeah. So I saw like a compilation of
- 50:19Speaker 1: a lot of different Rush Hour jokes. And I believed
- 50:23Speaker 1: that one was in there. But okay, so first of all,
- 50:26Speaker 1: his name. The fact that he made his name Dajon
- 50:30Speaker 1: Love is hilarious. Like, this is like an SNL skit.
- 50:37Speaker 1: It's too ridiculous. Listen, okay, this part has to be
- 50:40Speaker 1: said off the rip. I don't care how you feel
- 50:44Speaker 1: about this. I don't care if you disagree. This is
- 50:47Speaker 1: how I feel I'm saying this shit. To these ladies,
- 50:51Speaker 1: these 20-something, like 26, I believe, ladies who gave... Over
- 50:57Speaker 1: $ 1 million to this man. I'm not saying you deserve this.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Nobody deserves to be scammed. But you're all fucking idiots.
- 51:08Speaker 1: You're idiots. I mean, first and foremost, Google is a thing.
- 51:14Speaker 1: If a dude tells you that he is an NFL player, maybe,
- 51:18Speaker 1: you know, go just Google his name and see. And
- 51:23Speaker 1: then also, like, If he's an NFL player, why is
- 51:28Speaker 1: he asking you for money? He's flexing. He's showing... So
- 51:32Speaker 1: to me, the best part that's come out of this
- 51:34Speaker 1: is that there's at least been two girls, and there's
- 51:35Speaker 1: more than that, but there's two that I've watched where
- 51:37Speaker 1: it's been they are... Like, he tried to get them,
- 51:44Speaker 1: but they were like, what is this bullshit? And they
- 51:47Speaker 1: have posted, like, the videos that he sent and everything. And,
- 51:52Speaker 1: I mean, come on, man. Dude wasn't... He's not even...
- 51:57Speaker 1: He not even trying that hard. He's not some mastermind
- 52:00Speaker 1: con artist. The motherfucker said that, first of all, he
- 52:03Speaker 1: shows all his keys and he's like, here's the Lambo.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Here's the Corvette. Here's this. And they're all in the
- 52:09Speaker 1: same key chain. So you're telling me that any time
- 52:12Speaker 1: that he wants to go anywhere with one of these cars,
- 52:14Speaker 1: he's bringing the keys to all of them in his
- 52:17Speaker 1: pocket and throwing them in the car? What kind of
- 52:19Speaker 1: fucking sense is that? It makes no sense. Then, at
- 52:22Speaker 1: one point, he said to old girl, he said, you know,
- 52:27Speaker 1: we own shares in three different Gucci stores. Gucci is
- 52:35Speaker 1: not a publicly traded company. Gucci owns the fucking stores.
- 52:38Speaker 1: You don't own any shares in any of these stores.
- 52:41Speaker 1: No one does. And then, he said, the one in
- 52:45Speaker 1: New York that we own, it's on Saks Fifth Avenue.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Yo! Yo! If you sent.
- 52:57Speaker 1: That nigga some money, that's on you, yo. That is
- 53:02Speaker 1: your fault. I'm sorry, but come on, yo. Are you
- 53:08Speaker 1: fucking kidding me? Come on, man. This dude is a
- 53:13Speaker 1: fucking legend. I'm sorry. He's kind of a legend, in
- 53:15Speaker 1: my opinion. He's a piece of shit. He's a scam artist,
- 53:19Speaker 1: all those things. Come on, man. It's kind of hilarious
- 53:23Speaker 1: that this motherfucker was able to do this shit.
- 53:25Speaker 2: You know who else tweeted a video about this? It's like,
- 53:28Speaker 2: you know, what not to do is our girl, Nita Kimes, man.
- 53:31Speaker 1: I saw that. It was great.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that video was amazing. She's basically like saying, use Google.
- 53:36Speaker 2: You can go check the team's roster on the website. Like,
- 53:40Speaker 2: it's one of the easiest things on this planet to
- 53:43Speaker 2: find on the internet is literally go to the team's website,
- 53:47Speaker 2: check the roster. Like even you can literally sort, literally
- 53:51Speaker 2: you could even filter by number. Right. This isn't difficult.
- 53:56Speaker 2: This is one of those things. It's not even science,
- 53:59Speaker 2: let alone rocket science.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Yeah. And you got so many people who they have, um,
- 54:07Speaker 1: you know, put up their stories, like I said, I
- 54:09Speaker 1: saw those two women, and then I saw, like, another woman, like, posted, like,
- 54:13Speaker 1: the messages between them, and she says to him, she's like,
- 54:16Speaker 1: she's like, wait, like, do you have any, like, like, show,
- 54:18Speaker 1: send me, like, a video of you in college, he's like, nah,
- 54:22Speaker 1: you know, got hurt a lot in college, only played, like,
- 54:25Speaker 1: one year, so not a lot of videos, but, like,
- 54:29Speaker 1: I'm a, you know, I got a, you know, the 49ers,
- 54:32Speaker 1: you know, they picked me up as a free agent,
- 54:34Speaker 1: and she was like, hold on, She's like, don't nobody
- 54:36Speaker 1: not play in college. And then all of a sudden
- 54:38Speaker 1: get picked up as a free agent. That's not how
- 54:41Speaker 1: football works. She's like, oh, he's like, oh, it's crazy.
- 54:43Speaker 1: You going to try and tell me how the league works.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Like this motherfucker. And just like, he's talking about how
- 54:48Speaker 1: he went to go get a car. He's like, I
- 54:50Speaker 1: bought $ 115, 000 in cash. But he's like, I just didn't
- 54:53Speaker 1: think that they wouldn't do it for an extra $ 5, 000.
- 54:55Speaker 1: He's like, you know, I bought like $ 90, 000 of my money.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I bought that little bit that you sent me. But
- 55:00Speaker 1: I need a little bit more from you. Like what?
- 55:02Speaker 2: Who?
- 55:03Speaker 1: Who? Who?
- 55:04Speaker 2: Who?
- 55:07Speaker 1: I got to understand the mentality of the person who
- 55:11Speaker 1: meets this dude, starts talking to him, and is like, yeah, baby,
- 55:14Speaker 1: I got you, and starts sending him some money. Come on, man.
- 55:21Speaker 1: These are voters. These are members of society. They might
- 55:26Speaker 1: have jobs where somebody else's overall safety and or well-being
- 55:35Speaker 1: depends on them. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 55:39Speaker 1: We need to we need the women that did this shit.
- 55:42Speaker 1: We need to make sure they're not in any sort
- 55:43Speaker 1: of public service. They shouldn't be allowed to vote. They
- 55:46Speaker 1: shouldn't be. They shouldn't even have kids, man. For real,
- 55:50Speaker 1: because this shit is like, seriously, I don't want them
- 55:54Speaker 1: responsible for anybody. If you could fall for this shit,
- 55:58Speaker 1: you should not be responsible for another human ever. It's crazy, man.
- 56:04Speaker 1: It's hilarious. But truthfully, it's sad. But I'm leaning into
- 56:09Speaker 1: the hilarity part, but it's fucking sad. Like, that you
- 56:14Speaker 1: could watch another. Like, there's so many. Obviously, this guy
- 56:18Speaker 1: didn't bat a thousand. So, so many women, the ones
- 56:20Speaker 1: that are coming forward now, were like, what the fuck?
- 56:23Speaker 1: What is you talking about? But 28 of them, or
- 56:29Speaker 1: 26 of them, sent him over a million. I really...
- 56:33Speaker 1: I can't wait to see the details of this. Like,
- 56:34Speaker 1: I want to know, like, what was the largest amount and, like,
- 56:38Speaker 1: what was the story behind why he needed it? I do.
- 56:44Speaker 1: I would love to actually know who did it, but
- 56:46Speaker 1: I know that's not going to happen, and that's kind
- 56:47Speaker 1: of cruel. But, yo, man, this guy, Dajon Love, all-time finesser. Master.
- 56:55Speaker 1: A master at this. Bomb, you got anything else on Dajon?
- 57:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I was actually going to say, like, I'm leaning
- 57:02Speaker 2: into the hilarity part of it, too, because it is
- 57:04Speaker 2: insanely funny, especially now that the Niners' first draft pick
- 57:08Speaker 2: for this year, Dajon Stripling, just changed his number to seven.
- 57:11Speaker 2: That's real?
- 57:11Speaker 1: I saw that.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's real.
- 57:12Speaker 1: But I didn't know that was real.
- 57:14Speaker 2: No, that's real. It was real because that was his
- 57:15Speaker 2: high school number. But, you know, the Niners' beat writer,
- 57:18Speaker 2: Matt Barrow, tweeted, the last guy to wear it, Dajon Love.
- 57:21Speaker 2: So you're seeing the hilarity of it. The other hilarity
- 57:24Speaker 2: is the fake cake. Like, did you see the fake
- 57:27Speaker 2: birthday cake?
- 57:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:29Speaker 2: He got this fake birthday cake with the Niners uniform
- 57:33Speaker 2: with seven love on it. It was unreal funny. Like,
- 57:39Speaker 2: so yeah, I'm 100% leaning in clarity of it too.
- 57:41Speaker 2: Cause now it's like, you see a meme, like the
- 57:44Speaker 2: Rams loading up on all these guys just to stop
- 57:46Speaker 2: Dejan love. Oh, he's been traded to the Rams or
- 57:49Speaker 2: the cat. And now he signed with the Cowboys and
- 57:51Speaker 2: then the Cowboys released it. Now he's signing with the lions.
- 57:54Speaker 2: Like all the memes and stuff are hilarious. So I'm
- 57:57Speaker 2: absolutely in the hilarity of it all. But it is sad,
- 57:59Speaker 2: in the same token.
- 58:01Speaker 1: I just looked up the cake. That's fucking great, yo.
- 58:10Speaker 1: This guy is, come on, man. All-time finesser, yo. What
- 58:15Speaker 1: a fucking, I mean, Jesus, what a piece of shit.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I mean, fuck. I mean, if he's this good at this,
- 58:21Speaker 1: you're telling me he couldn't fucking be really good at
- 58:23Speaker 1: something that would make him some money legitimately? I mean,
- 58:27Speaker 1: come on, bro. Just sad, sad, very sad. In other
- 58:32Speaker 1: football news, Aaron Donald has unretired, much to the surprise
- 58:38Speaker 1: of nobody other than maybe our friend Tom Borns. And,
- 58:42Speaker 1: you know, he now is back with the Rams. The
- 58:44Speaker 1: Rams are, they're creating a super team. You know, the
- 58:50Speaker 1: last time, this is Durant, you know, going to the Warriors.
- 58:55Speaker 1: You know, you know, Now you've got to ask yourself
- 58:57Speaker 1: the question, are the Rams unbeatable? I mean, they're the
- 59:01Speaker 1: clear favorite, the clear betting favorite, and a lot of
- 59:04Speaker 1: people felt like they were one of the best teams
- 59:05Speaker 1: in the NFL last year. They just felt a little
- 59:07Speaker 1: bit short. And they go out and they add the
- 59:11Speaker 1: two preeminent inside and outside rusher of the last generation.
- 59:21Speaker 1: And the last time we saw either of them play,
- 59:23Speaker 1: they both looked like they were still at the top
- 59:25Speaker 1: of their game. They're going to be tough to beat, man. Hey,
- 59:29Speaker 1: I know they're in your division. As a Niners fan,
- 59:31Speaker 1: I know that you guys will be going all the
- 59:34Speaker 1: way down under to face them in the first game
- 59:37Speaker 1: of the season. What do you think about the Rams
- 59:39Speaker 1: and their additions, and do you think they're unbeatable?
- 59:42Speaker 2: I mean, nobody's unbeatable in the NFL. There's a lot
- 59:44Speaker 2: of parity. Injuries happen. But the Rams look very good
- 59:48Speaker 2: on paper. I mean, to me, though, you know, I'm
- 59:50Speaker 2: going to tie this back to the Knicks for a second.
- 59:52Speaker 2: The reigning Super Bowl champs are in the division. So
- 59:55Speaker 2: in order to be the champ, you've got to beat
- 59:57Speaker 2: the champ. And as of now, the Seahawks took two
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: of the last two games from the Rams last year.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: So until I see the Rams do it, then the
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Seahawks are still a team to beat. So the Rams,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: in my opinion, are very beatable. But they do it
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: very good on paper. But there are some questions. And
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: the main one, or the main two I have are this.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: As much of a physical freak as Aaron Donald is,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: and as great of a player as he was when
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: he hung it up, he's missed two years. We don't
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: know what kind of shape he's coming back to.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Okay, that's bullshit. Yes, we do.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: No, we don't.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: No, we see him. Okay, maybe he's lost a step
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: due to age. That's possible. But as far as the
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: physical condition that he's in, he still works out like
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: a fucking madman. I've seen him do drills where he's
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: like fighting some guy with a knife.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but has he played football in two years is
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: my question. He's got to get back into football shape.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: The other big question for the Rams right now is
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: the status of their number one receiver, Fukunokua. Is he
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: going to get suspended? If so, how many games? He's
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: also very banged up right now. He may miss some
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: time due to injury. I mean, granted, the Rams still
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: have Devontae Adams, who had, you know, despite down catches
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: and yards last night, still had 14 touchdowns. Like, you know,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: he's still crazy good and still playing at a very
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: high level. And the Rams also really offset when Puka
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: missed time last year. They ran a ton of 13
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: personnel and were very successful at it. One receiver, three
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: tight ends. And they were able to manufacture a lot
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: of passing touchdowns that way. You know, Matt the Stafford
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: threw for 45 and we thought he was all dead
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: going into last season. And all he did was come
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: back and win MVP. But, you know, he's another year
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: older now. We don't know. But those are significant questions
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: surrounding that team. And there's still some very good other
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: defenses in that division who can beat them.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you're absolutely right. I mean, it's a great division.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: And obviously in the NFL, there is nothing that is
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: a foregone conclusion for sure. They look really, really good.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: I mean, if you, if you just look at that
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: offense and if it could be close to what it
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: was last year, and then you add those two guys
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: in the defensive line, it seems pretty unbeatable. It really does.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: But obviously there's a lot of variables. Nakua, I just
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: read there was a, He had another allegation or not
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: just it wasn't like a different girl, but from that
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: same ex-girlfriend, a new abuse claim that came out today.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: He does look like he's headed towards a suspension. I
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: don't really see how he doesn't end up being suspended. And,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: you know, the fact that the legal process of this
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: is probably going to take a little bit longer to
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: play out. And typically what the NFL NFL does is
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: they throw their hands up until the legal process is done.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: or maybe just suspend you or put you on the
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: commissioner's list until a legal process is done, doesn't look
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: good for him. And then, you know, obviously he might
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: need some of that time with the injuries. It just
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: goes to show you that you never know. Because, look,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and say, like, I
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: can see an abuser when I know one. And this
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: is all allegedly at this point. We don't know if
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: this definitely happened. We've definitely had situations before where, you know,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: prominent athletes have been accused of things that they end
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: up being proven not to be done. And then, obviously,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: there's plenty of times where, And always, we should start
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: off by believing the woman and giving her the benefit
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: of the doubt. But it just goes to show you,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I think most people would say, you know, again, I'm
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: not going to say that I can spot a domestic
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: abuser from a mile away, but you wouldn't really think
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: that Puka Nakul was necessarily that guy. And Unfortunately, the
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: allegations say that he is thus far, but they are
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: just allegations. We'll see how that plays out for them.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: But I think that that's going to be the biggest
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: story this year in the NFL, really, is Patrick Mahomes
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: and his comeback and the Rams, are they a true
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: super team? Does this look like when the Warriors got
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Kevin Garnett? And we knew pretty early on in that
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: season that if they're healthy, nobody's beating them. Oh, one
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: more basketball thing that I want to ask you before
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: we get up out of here. Um, no, uh, no,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: no worse people in the world today. I'm going to,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: we're going to take a week off from that. I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: feel like I've been being mean. Um, but, um, I
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: got to ask you this cause I heard them, uh, it's, um,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: we're still in this from, um, club five 20. I
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: heard them earlier. Um, I guess one of their people
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: on their chat asked him a question and said, um, who,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: who you got prime Jason kid or prime Russell Westbrook.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Uh, for me, this is pretty easy. It's prime Jason kid. Um, Yeah.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: One guy, you know, one guy can shoot the ball
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: a little bit better. I liked that kid was a
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: lot more of a distributor, more of a facilitator. Rush
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: tried to do his own thing. For me, it's J kid.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: You said one guy can shoot the ball a little
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: bit better. Which one do you mean?
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Kid. I mean, not yet. Yeah.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I was, I was hoping you, because listen, that's the
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: thing is that Jason kid flipped that narrative on him.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: At first they used to call him a sin kid
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: because he had no J when he first came into
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: the league.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: And then you got so much better at it.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: And I just, He retired as number two overall in
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: three-point makes, I believe. Something crazy like that. Jason Kidd
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: is super high on that list. Go look it up.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Jason Kidd is super high on that list, man. He's
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: like top. I want to believe he's definitely top five
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: in three-pointers made just because of the volume that he
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: was shooting towards the end of his career.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: He is down to number 20 now. He has my
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: birth year in made threes, 1,988. Yeah, he's been passed
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: by a lot of active players. Actually, you know who
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: just passed him this year? You ready for these two guys?
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Tim Hardaway Jr. and Eric Gordon. That's crazy with how
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: the game has evolved.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Game's changed so much. Yeah, I'm looking at this, and
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: it's like a lot of these guys, he retired before
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: all these guys that I'm looking at right now. Except
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: for Jason Kidd. I think Ray Allen probably played a
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: little bit longer than he did.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Or at least very close. Let's see.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: He played 19 years. Yeah. He played 19 years in
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: the league.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know when both of them started. I
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: know Ray Allen came in at 96. I mean, look,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: he's a 40% shooter. The point being is that, you know,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: he really improved his ability to shoot three. And I
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: honestly think, you know, it's funny because Like, they ended
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: up coming to, like, ah, you just want to win
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: a chip. And listen, obviously Jeff Teague, guy made it
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: to the NBA. You know, he's a way greater basketball
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: player than I could ever dream of being, for sure,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: no doubt. You would like to think that he probably
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: knows the game a lot better than I do. But
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: quite often I hear some of the takes that he
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: makes on that show, and they're so, like, they're so, like,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: just about, like, ah, well, you got to get your
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: money or look at the stats and, like, this guy
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: he kills, he had all these triple doubles, MVP, all
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: this other stuff. I'm sorry, man. To me, this is
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: a perfect example of like, this is the question that
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: you ask when you want to know how old is somebody,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: how much do they know the history of the game,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: and how much do they really know ball? Because in
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: my opinion, and I know that statistically, we've never seen
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: a player like Russell Westbrook. People made a big deal
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: all those years about what Oscar Robinson did, and then
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Russell Westbrook just said, okay, I'm going to just do this.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I'm going to have a stretch where I just do
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: this every fucking season. Watch. I'm sorry, man. I don't
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: think they're even close. I think Jason Kidd is such
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: a better basketball player than Russell Westbrook.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: 100%. You saw me answer that with no hesitation. It's
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: 100% Jason Kidd. Kidd was a way better facilitator than
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: Russ was. Obviously, he averaged all the triple-doubles and stuff,
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: but he didn't do it facilitating. Kid bringing the ball
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: up was so different than Russ.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: But the argument of he didn't do that facilitating is,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: then how did he average over 10 assists for all
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: those years?
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I just think it ends up being because, like, Russell Westbrook,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: he's the ultimate compiler. I hate to say it. I'm
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: not saying Russ ain't a great player. Russ is a
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: great player.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: We love Russ. We had a nice little tribute to
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Russ a couple episodes ago when he announced his retirement.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Dude plays hard and all that,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: and he's a great player. He's an all-time player, first
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: ballot Hall of Famer, no doubt. He's a compiler. I've
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: always felt like he cannot be your first or second
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: best player on a championship team, and he's never seemed
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: like a player who does well trying to be the second, third,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: or fourth fiddle And everywhere he goes, it seems like
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: he is a good contributor. But then they don't want him.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Do you remember a couple years ago in the playoffs?
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: I forget which series those were in, but it was
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: like game five. He forced a turnover, which was, yeah,
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: with Denver. They would have won the game and he,
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: for some strange reason, decided to go for a layup
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: and like completely bricked it. And then it ended up
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: just going back the other way. And I can't remember
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: if they But I can't remember exactly what happened after that.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: All I know is it cost him another game.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: And listen, man.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Kid would never.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Kid was way more cerebral. He was a much better distributor.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: He had a much better jump shot. He was more clutch.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: And people forget, like, listen, we've never seen an athlete
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: at the point guard position like Russell Westbrook other than
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: maybe Derrick Rose. Jason Kidd, when he first came into
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: the league, I mean– Just flying him. Go watch his
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: stats when he was at Cal. Flying up and down
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: the floor, laying kids straight to the rack, punching one
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: every once in a while, crazy passes. When he was
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: on that team and he had Kenyon Martin and he
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: had Vince Carter, that shit, that was Lob City before
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Lob City.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: And Keith Van Horn, too. Solid, solid power forward.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Yep, yep. Kerry Kittles. But specifically the lobs to Vince
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: and Kenyon were crazy.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Dude, K-Mart was freaking in of his own right. Like, man,
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: he was so sick at Cincinnati. And then, you know,
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: I thought he was going to be in Cincinnati too.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: But Jake, his passes were just insane. Like, some of
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: the dimes he would drop, you're just like, what human
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: in their own right would do this? Or in their
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: own way can do this? And, you know, Steve Nash,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: you know, it kind of paved the way for Steve Nash.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely. You could definitely see, you know, there's a
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: lot of guys that came after him. I mean, he
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: was a big point guard for that time. And, yeah, man,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: don't sleep on Jason Kidd, yo. Don't sleep on Jason Kidd.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Jason Kidd, he won co-rookie of the year with Penny,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: didn't he?
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Let me check that just to make sure.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: I believe that they won co-rookie of the year. And, yeah,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: don't sleep on Jason Kidd. And I got to see
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Jason Kidd as a Knick at the end of his
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: career in that year that the Knicks went and won
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: 52 games.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: It was co-rookie of the year with Grant Hill.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Oh, Grant Hill. Right, right, right, right, right.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Which, the biggest what-if ever, fucking Grant Hill.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: He rose up there for me, though, too.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: We got to do a next episode, but let's do
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: a top five what-if team. Top five what-if team.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Ooh, I like that, yeah.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: NBA what-if team. Yeah, so we'll do that next episode.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I got prime kid over Russ all day. I got
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: to see prime Jason Kidd. I'm sorry, I got to
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: see Jason Kidd at the end of his career when
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: he was with the Knicks, and the Knicks were the
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: best team that they had been in probably a 20-year span,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: them and Mike Woodson with a bunch of old guys
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: and guys who would soon be coaches thereafter, and Melo, basically.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: The Knicks were, I think, at the 2C that year.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: They won 52 games. They lost in the second round
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: to Indiana. Who will ever forget Roy Hibbert just denying
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Melo at the rim over and over again? But Kidd,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: even in those years when at that point he couldn't move,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: he's just a spot-up shooter. But his smarts as far
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: as getting guys in the right position, and there would
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: be times where he would be trying to get Melo
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the ball. I mean, the ball would get swung to him,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and he would barely touch his hands, and he would
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: get it to Melo right in exactly the spot that
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: he needed in to go ahead and do his work.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: So you definitely, definitely got to put some respect on
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: prime Jason Kidd. And, yeah, next year we're going to
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: do that top five what-ifs team. Baum, before we get
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: out of here, you got anything else, my man?
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: I got nothing for you at this point. No late
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: breaking news or anything like that. But I'm also with you.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: It is prime J.K. over Russ, and it's not even close.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Amen. You know, if you don't know, you better ask somebody.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: And if you don't know about it yet, then you
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: need to learn. It's your boy, NIC. Peace.
