- 0:24Don Armstrong: I think that you're going to be interested in some of them particularly.
- 0:27Don Armstrong: Uh, howdy, along with Mike Out of This World Mars, we always need more Jeb Zekin.
- 0:31Don Armstrong: Chief Engineer David Ainsley.
- 0:33Don Armstrong: I'm Don Armstrong.
- 0:34Don Armstrong: Glad you could join us for our Saturday live broadcast if you're watching on a podcast.
- 0:39Don Armstrong: Thank you very much for that.
- 0:40Don Armstrong: We appreciate you.
- 0:41Don Armstrong: So this is kind of our fun segment that we uh seem to have gained some traction on because it's guess the what the auction car sold for.
- 0:50Don Armstrong: What do you mean auction?
- 0:51Don Armstrong: Well, so Hemings Motor News.
- 0:54Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 0:55Don Armstrong: Well, it's the that part of it is gone.
- 0:57Don Armstrong: We don't have that.
- 0:58Don Armstrong: But uh so Hemings Motor News, which has been around since dirt, um, has a thing, an online auction.
- 1:05Don Armstrong: And it's an online car auction.
- 1:07Don Armstrong: All sorts of different cars.
- 1:09Don Armstrong: We mainly focus in on the well 70s, but they we go on either side of that.
- 1:15Don Armstrong: But at any rate, we find it fun to do.
- 1:17Don Armstrong: But before we get to that, let's do the recalls, shall we?
- 1:20Don Armstrong: All right.
- 1:20Jeff Dziekan: Which there are a few.
- 1:21Jeff Dziekan: Some of these may be on there.
- 1:23Don Armstrong: Well, there it's possible.
- 1:24Don Armstrong: Could be.
- 1:25Don Armstrong: Um, you know, um, it's rare that you have a Toyota recall, but Toyota Tacoma and Tacoma Hybrid, 24 to 25 model years.
- 1:34Don Armstrong: Front and rear shock absorber reservoirs may detach.
- 1:38Don Armstrong: What?
- 1:39Don Armstrong: Oh, they're separate.
- 1:40Don Armstrong: Apparently.
- 1:40Don Armstrong: Oh.
- 1:41Don Armstrong: There's the reservoir than the shock.
- 1:43Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 1:43Don Armstrong: That's that off-road stuff.
- 1:45Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:45Mike Marrs: Yeah, like the Fox shots.
- 1:47Mike Marrs: You can see those in there.
- 1:48Don Armstrong: Incorrectly attached steering spindle.
- 1:52Don Armstrong: The BMW X3 for 24 through 26.
- 1:56Jeff Dziekan: Wow.
- 1:57Don Armstrong: You know, you wouldn't want to mess around with that, especially when you're doing, you know, uh on-ramp accelerator test and have the detachment is the key word.
- 2:08Don Armstrong: Exactly.
- 2:09Don Armstrong: Loss of rear wheel power from the drive shaft damage.
- 2:12Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 2:13Don Armstrong: So the damage drive shaft will cause the rear wheels to not work anymore.
- 2:18Don Armstrong: BMWs.
- 2:20Don Armstrong: Here they are 540i, 540i X drive, 750E X Drive, 840i, 840i X Drive, and the M550i.
- 2:30Don Armstrong: 21 through 26 model years.
- 2:33Don Armstrong: It's kind of a mix-up in there, but whatever the case may be, have it checked out.
- 2:38Don Armstrong: So if you have a number or a letter in your BMW, you better get it taken care of.
- 2:42Don Armstrong: I was uh that's pretty much every BMW ever made.
- 2:45Don Armstrong: Uh airbags may not deploy properly in the 2025 Nissan Ultima.
- 2:49Don Armstrong: Uh Land Rover Range Rover 2016 to 2017.
- 2:53Don Armstrong: Incorrect front suspension knuckles have been uh installed.
- 2:58Don Armstrong: Send recalls we hate those knuckles that are incorrect.
- 3:01Don Armstrong: Knuckle draggers.
- 3:02Don Armstrong: Knuckle draggers.
- 3:04Don Armstrong: Thank you.
- 3:05Don Armstrong: Rear spoiler made detached while driving in the Dodge Durango 21 to 23.
- 3:10Don Armstrong: Dodge Durango.
- 3:12Don Armstrong: That's the SUV.
- 3:13Don Armstrong: And you're going, what?
- 3:15Don Armstrong: What?
- 3:15Jeff Dziekan: I thought that was like a deflector for beer.
- 3:17Don Armstrong: Yeah, well, you thought that, but well, it doesn't make any difference because it falls off at speed, apparently.
- 3:24Don Armstrong: And uh Ford Explorer.
- 3:26Don Armstrong: Gotta have a Ford in there.
- 3:27Don Armstrong: Oh man.
- 3:27Don Armstrong: And it's a big one.
- 3:28Don Armstrong: Engine rod bearing failure.
- 3:30Don Armstrong: What?
- 3:32Don Armstrong: Only once.
- 3:33Don Armstrong: Only once.
- 3:33Don Armstrong: Only once.
- 3:34Don Armstrong: Uh-huh.
- 3:34Don Armstrong: Uh, sir.
- 3:35Don Armstrong: I'm sorry, we're going to have to have your car here in the shop for a couple of months while we order a new engine and then have it arrive, and then for us to install it.
- 3:43Don Armstrong: Ford Explorer 2026.
- 3:45Don Armstrong: Engine rod bearing failure.
- 3:48Don Armstrong: Gee whiz.
- 3:50Don Armstrong: I've got a story on uh Ford and the recalls, and they're doing better, according to the CEO of the company.
- 3:58Don Armstrong: He's trying to save his job, I think.
- 4:01Jeff Dziekan: Just thought I'd bring that up.
- 4:03Jeff Dziekan: Next.
- 4:06Mike Marrs: Well, the the only bad thing is about that record on the rod bearing, basically they've all gone to the point that you take it in there and tell them and they say, Oh, you got a bad rod bearing, they're going to change that one rod bearing.
- 4:16Mike Marrs: Right.
- 4:17Don Armstrong: You think that's what it's going to be?
- 4:19Don Armstrong: If the engine doesn't eat itself in the meantime.
- 4:22Mike Marrs: Well, no, no, I understand.
- 4:23Mike Marrs: Yeah, if it doesn't tear anything else up, but if you go in there and they just say you got one bad rod bearing, I've seen them do it at local dealerships.
- 4:30Mike Marrs: They'll replace that one because that's all the factory says it's bad.
- 4:34Mike Marrs: So that's all they're going to pay for.
- 4:36Jeff Dziekan: Yep.
- 4:36Jeff Dziekan: That's what they do.
- 4:37Jeff Dziekan: But it's not just Ford.
- 4:39Jeff Dziekan: No, no, no.
- 4:39Mike Marrs: It's it's it's across the board, I'm sure.
- 4:43Don Armstrong: What did the sold car and hemmings sell for?
- 4:49Don Armstrong: I don't know, but I think a bit too much.
- 4:51Don Armstrong: Well, been the case that may very well be, especially for the first one, because it is a 1969 Chevy Camaro.
- 4:58Don Armstrong: Now, I I don't know, Mr.
- 4:59Don Armstrong: Mars did wait that's not oh he's getting there.
- 5:02Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 5:02Don Armstrong: Um I'm sorry?
- 5:05Mike Marrs: We're there.
- 5:05Mike Marrs: I I didn't see it coming past enough till you started number one.
- 5:10Don Armstrong: Well, uh, this looks to me like a pace car.
- 5:13Mike Marrs: It is a pace car replica.
- 5:16Don Armstrong: Oh, it's a cheater car, but you know what?
- 5:20Don Armstrong: It still looks good.
- 5:21Jeff Dziekan: You know, I almost bought one of these back in the 80s after I moved here.
- 5:25Jeff Dziekan: I was looking for a second car and I almost bought one of these.
- 5:27Jeff Dziekan: It was a blue one though, and I didn't.
- 5:29Jeff Dziekan: I'm glad I didn't.
- 5:30Don Armstrong: So this is a 1969 Chevy Camaro Pace car replica.
- 5:36Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 5:37Don Armstrong: Unless they, I mean, it doesn't have the stickers on the door, but you don't want that.
- 5:42Don Armstrong: How much do you think that that thing sold for?
- 5:45Mike Marrs: Now it is a replica, but is it that's a 300 horse 350 replica?
- 5:50Jeff Dziekan: The Lusk family says 57K.
- 5:53Jeff Dziekan: 57K.
- 5:55Jeff Dziekan: Heitzman says 25.
- 5:58Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna say 32,999.
- 6:03Jeff Dziekan: The Lusk family wins the car.
- 6:06Don Armstrong: Oh sold price 55.
- 6:09Don Armstrong: Oh, what do you win over?
- 6:10Don Armstrong: 178.
- 6:11Jeff Dziekan: Okay.
- 6:12Jeff Dziekan: We'll give it to them.
- 6:14Don Armstrong: You know, I think I'm not sure.
- 6:16Don Armstrong: Is it would the carpet be black?
- 6:18Don Armstrong: I think it's not.
- 6:19Don Armstrong: In that case, it looks gray, but yeah, kind of.
- 6:24Mike Marrs: Yeah, I got you.
- 6:24Mike Marrs: Okay.
- 6:24Mike Marrs: Oh, it fades too.
- 6:25Don Armstrong: Next up.
- 6:27Don Armstrong: 1965 Ford Mustang convertible.
- 6:29Don Armstrong: We're in the convertibles today.
- 6:31Don Armstrong: I'm not sure about the white wall tires.
- 6:34Don Armstrong: Was that an option?
- 6:35Don Armstrong: I think that's pretty much stock looking.
- 6:38Mike Marrs: Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 6:39Mike Marrs: Yeah.
- 6:40Don Armstrong: Well, I mean, it's a pretty nice example of a 65 if the floorboards aren't rusted out of it.
- 6:44Don Armstrong: Boy, look at that clean engine compartment.
- 6:46Don Armstrong: It has a nice looking car.
- 6:48Mike Marrs: Yeah, two barrel, uh, 289, automatic.
- 6:51Don Armstrong: Oh, yeah.
- 6:53Don Armstrong: Which, you know, between the six and this engine, the six cylinder or this engine, that was most of the 65 Mustangs.
- 7:03Jeff Dziekan: Heitzman, 30 grand.
- 7:05Jeff Dziekan: 30 grand.
- 7:06Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna say, okay, and uh the less families 22.
- 7:10Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna say uh 25.
- 7:15Jeff Dziekan: And I'm probably high as well.
- 7:17Jeff Dziekan: Really?
- 7:17Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, I think I'm pretty high.
- 7:18Don Armstrong: It sold for 25,988.
- 7:22Don Armstrong: Very good.
- 7:23Don Armstrong: All right, everybody kind of guessed that one.
- 7:25Don Armstrong: Yeah, surprised.
- 7:26Don Armstrong: All right.
- 7:27Don Armstrong: While we're in the surprise.
- 7:29Don Armstrong: Well, I if I were to guess, I don't know what I would have.
- 7:32Don Armstrong: This one's gonna be tough.
- 7:33Mike Marrs: I'd have been in the teens.
- 7:35Don Armstrong: Yeah, I was that was thinking that too, Mike.
- 7:37Don Armstrong: This one here, the 1999 Ford Mustang, again, another convertible.
- 7:43Don Armstrong: Um that is a clean example of uh a 1999.
- 7:48Don Armstrong: Did you happen to make note of how many miles this had on it?
- 7:51Mike Marrs: Well, it's it's got two 23,000, a little over 23,000 miles, but it's a 35 anniversary GT convertible.
- 7:59Mike Marrs: Wow.
- 8:00Mike Marrs: 4.6 liter V8.
- 8:02Jeff Dziekan: I think my sister has one or had one that was black.
- 8:05Jeff Dziekan: Uh I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go 30.
- 8:11Jeff Dziekan: That's probably high.
- 8:14Jeff Dziekan: 30.
- 8:14Jeff Dziekan: I always second guess myself, but 30.
- 8:16Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna go 30.
- 8:17Don Armstrong: I like the way everybody kind of plays off of you because here's hygiene in at 29.
- 8:22Don Armstrong: Because whatever it is.
- 8:23Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 8:24Don Armstrong: Jeff's been on the price is right.
- 8:26Don Armstrong: He doesn't want to go over.
- 8:27Mike Marrs: Yeah, it's one of those deals nobody's really sure where to start.
- 8:30Mike Marrs: Okay, I'm close.
- 8:31Mike Marrs: That's close.
- 8:32Mike Marrs: We'll go from there.
- 8:33Jeff Dziekan: The only examples I'm gonna give you are bad ones, so don't do that.
- 8:37Don Armstrong: Well, this one, I'm surprised.
- 8:40Don Armstrong: This is a nice car, and it sold for$14,170.
- 8:45Don Armstrong: There you go.
- 8:45Don Armstrong: That would be some driver, huh?
- 8:48Mike Marrs: This would be a driver.
- 8:49Mike Marrs: You could drive this every day.
- 8:50Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah, and it's got low miles on it, too.
- 8:53Don Armstrong: But it is a 99, so remember, that car is 27 years old.
- 8:58Don Armstrong: Just saying.
- 8:59Don Armstrong: There is reason I bring that up, is because I have a 2001.
- 9:03Don Armstrong: And uh boy, talk about antiquated.
- 9:07Don Armstrong: It is.
- 9:08Don Armstrong: Um, all right.
- 9:09Don Armstrong: This is one for Jeffrey 1973.
- 9:14Don Armstrong: Cadawak El Dorado, baby.
- 9:16Don Armstrong: Look at that bitch.
- 9:18Don Armstrong: Blood red.
- 9:20Mike Marrs: Get Jeff some smelling salt.
- 9:21Don Armstrong: I exactly I actually have driven this car.
- 9:25Don Armstrong: Not just is this one of those cars that you might have put the trunk latch in?
- 9:29Don Armstrong: Uh, what year is it?
- 9:30Don Armstrong: 73.
- 9:31Jeff Dziekan: No.
- 9:31Don Armstrong: No.
- 9:32Don Armstrong: You came after that.
- 9:33Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:34Mike Marrs: Interesting.
- 9:34Mike Marrs: But still, this is an indie pace car replica.
- 9:38Mike Marrs: I didn't even know of such a thing.
- 9:40Mike Marrs: 500 cubic inch V8.
- 9:42Mike Marrs: What is it?
- 9:42Don Armstrong: 900 cubic inches?
- 9:44Don Armstrong: 500.
- 9:44Jeff Dziekan: 500.
- 9:45Jeff Dziekan: 500 cubic inches.
- 9:47Jeff Dziekan: It swallows gas.
- 9:48Jeff Dziekan: I'm gonna say$15,000 and I'll take it.
- 9:51Jeff Dziekan: Um, where do I pick it up at?
- 9:53Jeff Dziekan: 40 from Mr.
- 9:54Jeff Dziekan: Heitzman.
- 9:57Jeff Dziekan: Love it.
- 9:57Jeff Dziekan: 45 from the Lusk family.
- 9:59Don Armstrong: Here you go.
- 9:59Don Armstrong: It's a bargain, ladies and gentlemen.
- 10:01Don Armstrong: I'm gonna play the part of Art Grendel, and it's sold, sold, sold for$21,000.
- 10:09Don Armstrong: $21,000.
- 10:11Don Armstrong: Good luck in trying to find parts for it.
- 10:13Mike Marrs: But if you had a garage big enough for that to fit in, that would be an awesome buy.
- 10:17Don Armstrong: Sir, that would be that would be a horse barn.
- 10:20Don Armstrong: I don't know if you do any metal work with that, but yeah, you could find mechanical stuff for it.
- 10:24Don Armstrong: Next up, this is a nice car.
- 10:28Don Armstrong: This is a nice car.
- 10:30Don Armstrong: A 1965 Pontiac Le Mans convertible tripower.
- 10:39Don Armstrong: But yeah, but this is this is not a GTO.
- 10:42Don Armstrong: This is just a Le Mans, but they made the GTO out of this.
- 10:46Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 10:47Jeff Dziekan: Yep.
- 10:48Don Armstrong: So this is a flashback to the day when they were just about ready to bring out the GTO.
- 10:54Don Armstrong: This would have been a GTO.
- 10:55Don Armstrong: Thank you, Mr.
- 10:55Don Armstrong: DeLorean.
- 10:56Don Armstrong: Yep.
- 10:57Don Armstrong: So what do you think that the 65 Pontiac Le Manso, the Lush family?
- 11:02Jeff Dziekan: I was gonna go 32.
- 11:03Jeff Dziekan: So we'll split it.
- 11:04Jeff Dziekan: I'll get it on uh the days that end in a Y, and then you can have it the rest of the day.
- 11:09Jeff Dziekan: 38 for Jeffrey.
- 11:11Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 11:12Don Armstrong: This is a nice car.
- 11:16Don Armstrong: All right.
- 11:16Don Armstrong: I think if I had it though, I think I would try to go for some stock, maybe some GTO wheels instead of the instead of red line tires.
- 11:23Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, red lines and some nice.
- 11:25Mike Marrs: So you got the 389 three deuces.
- 11:27Mike Marrs: Why not?
- 11:27Jeff Dziekan: You know, yeah.
- 11:28Jeff Dziekan: But if you look in the background, it it looks like a warehouse.
- 11:32Jeff Dziekan: Is that like a uh a showroom or a it is a showroom?
- 11:35Don Armstrong: It looks like a church as you go and see the gods.
- 11:38Don Armstrong: Thank you for that.
- 11:40Don Armstrong: How much did that uh how much did I dunno, you tell us.
- 11:42Don Armstrong: We already given a price.
- 11:43Don Armstrong: 43,995.
- 11:47unknown: Yeah.
- 11:48Don Armstrong: Now, I don't know, but I and I'm not into these to the point where I could be able to say, Oh, yeah, that's worth 43.
- 11:56Don Armstrong: But it's 43 to somebody.
- 11:57Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 11:58Mike Marrs: Well, if it was a real GTO, I might see that, but you know, it's a good point.
- 12:03Don Armstrong: But you know what?
- 12:04Don Armstrong: This is one of those cars that it's okay that it's not because it's about all it is is a name badge.
- 12:10Mike Marrs: Well, I agree, but uh you know, for 43, though, I I'd have to drive it.
- 12:14Mike Marrs: And and I just that's a lot of money on a driver you got to be really careful with.
- 12:20Don Armstrong: Exactly.
- 12:20Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 12:20Don Armstrong: Next up, an 81 Toyota Land Cruiser, convertible.
- 12:28Jeff Dziekan: 81.
- 12:29Jeff Dziekan: These things are hot, they really are.
- 12:33Don Armstrong: Okay, well, good luck on on your purchase, and good luck taking it to the Land Rover store to get it fixed.
- 12:41Don Armstrong: Unless you're really into these things, but they're kind of like uh, you know, the Jeeps, the Jeep Wranglers.
- 12:48Don Armstrong: I'm gonna say 18.
- 12:51Don Armstrong: It'd be easy to work on.
- 12:53Don Armstrong: 18, except the fact that it's English.
- 12:55Jeff Dziekan: God knows what kind of 75 for the Lust family.
- 12:57Jeff Dziekan: Uh-oh.
- 12:58Don Armstrong: 75 for the Lust family.
- 13:00Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 13:01Don Armstrong: And then 33 for Heitman.
- 13:03Don Armstrong: Well, it's sold for 31.5.
- 13:05Jeff Dziekan: There you go, Jeffrey.
- 13:07Don Armstrong: Next up.
- 13:08Don Armstrong: This is a nice car, too.
- 13:10Don Armstrong: This is a 1969 Mercury Cougar.
- 13:14Mike Marrs: That is, I love that car.
- 13:15Mike Marrs: That is nice.
- 13:16Mike Marrs: It's what, XR7 or something like that?
- 13:18Mike Marrs: It's a fastback, it looks like.
- 13:21Don Armstrong: Well, I don't know.
- 13:21Don Armstrong: Is it an XR7?
- 13:23Don Armstrong: I don't know.
- 13:23Mike Marrs: I believe anyway.
- 13:24Mike Marrs: I thought I saw that in the background in one of the pictures.
- 13:27Don Armstrong: Well, it's a nice car.
- 13:28Don Armstrong: And it's not a Ford Mustang that I always thought it was, just with a different badge on it.
- 13:33Don Armstrong: No, it's not.
- 13:34Don Armstrong: So 69 Mercury Cougar, what do you think?
- 13:37Don Armstrong: 21.
- 13:37Don Armstrong: 21?
- 13:39Jeff Dziekan: I'd pay 21 for it.
- 13:42Jeff Dziekan: 43 from Jeffrey.
- 13:46Don Armstrong: David and Stacy say.
- 13:48Jeff Dziekan: Perhaps I'm watching too much perch.
- 13:52Jeff Dziekan: Perhaps you are.
- 13:53Jeff Dziekan: Perhaps you are.
- 13:53Jeff Dziekan: No, you never get it.
- 13:54Don Armstrong: It sold for 12.6.
- 13:56Don Armstrong: Oh my goodness I was gonna buy two of them.
- 13:58Don Armstrong: And our last one up, this is for the high rollers like Jeff Heitzman.
- 14:04Don Armstrong: A 2002 Mercedes-Benz G class or G Wagon, as most of us call it.
- 14:10Don Armstrong: What do you think that the G Wagon sold for?
- 14:14Mike Marrs: 151,000 plus miles on it.
- 14:17Don Armstrong: 151,000?
- 14:19Mike Marrs: No miles.
- 14:19Mike Marrs: Miles.
- 14:20Jeff Dziekan: Miles are 151,000.
- 14:21Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 14:22Don Armstrong: Um that that's a lot of miles.
- 14:25Don Armstrong: But it is a 2002.
- 14:26Jeff Dziekan: I have no clue.
- 14:27Don Armstrong: But it looks nice.
- 14:29Jeff Dziekan: I don't know.
- 14:31Jeff Dziekan: Um okay, 56.
- 14:34Jeff Dziekan: I'll go 45.
- 14:37Jeff Dziekan: Just because I don't know what I'm betting on.
- 14:40Mike Marrs: Well, you're right about that.
- 14:44Don Armstrong: Well, it's sold for 17,850.
- 14:47Mike Marrs: Oh my lord.
- 14:48Don Armstrong: You know, you got that that kid up in college that's uh really looking for something to drive.
- 14:53Don Armstrong: Why not jazz it up?
- 14:54Jeff Dziekan: Well, you see the you see the Mercedes logo and you think high of dollar.
- 14:58Jeff Dziekan: So if it leaks in the driveway, is that a G-spot?
- 15:00Jeff Dziekan: I don't know.
- 15:02Don Armstrong: Exactly.
- 15:03Don Armstrong: Mr.
- 15:04Don Armstrong: Mars has got a review coming up uh after a quick break here of the 2026 Range Rover Sport.
- 15:12Don Armstrong: But uh we're gonna have that along with Jeff's cruise in and events calendars, and I'll have a couple of stories making automotive news headlines this week.
- 15:20Don Armstrong: The In Real Time Car Talk Show continues right after this.
- 15:22Don Armstrong: Stay with us.

- 16:29Don Armstrong: Yep, our first show aired May 7th, 2011, on the local radio station.
- 16:33Don Armstrong: Then it was a move to the digital world and social media, and you followed.
- 16:36Don Armstrong: Thank you.
- 16:37Don Armstrong: We continue to build and grow our fan base, and it's all because of you and your auto enthusiast friends.

- 16:48Don Armstrong: It's been a great ride, and we hope to bring you more fun and adventure right here on the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
- 16:58Don Armstrong: Mr.
- 16:59Don Armstrong: Mars uh actually got one of uh these things to drive.
- 17:02Don Armstrong: We're gonna find out what he thinks of it.
- 17:04Don Armstrong: The 2026 Range Rover Sports.
- 17:07Mike Marrs: Yes, sir.
- 17:08Mike Marrs: And it's uh different.
- 17:10Mike Marrs: I'm gonna tell you that right up front.
- 17:12Mike Marrs: It's the Range Rover Sport Dynamic SE plug-in hybrid.
- 17:17Mike Marrs: Now, the final assembly location for this is in the UK.
- 17:20Mike Marrs: It comes in available at six trim levels, and again, we were driving the SE plug-in hybrid.
- 17:26Mike Marrs: Now, this is considered a standard SUV as far as size.
- 17:29Mike Marrs: It seats five passengers.
- 17:31Mike Marrs: Now, what they've done is they've tried to create some more dynamic exterior styling, as they call it, with the lines and the way the vehicle looks.
- 17:39Mike Marrs: It's really a pretty sharp-looking car, particularly in the red.
- 17:43Mike Marrs: There's two different shades, red, both of them are really great looking.
- 17:46Mike Marrs: So on the outside of it, you've got a fine LED lighting all the way around, including the auto hiving settings.
- 17:51Mike Marrs: Yeah, it's got heated power folding side mirrors on it.
- 17:54Mike Marrs: It's got a panoramic sunroof to open it up to get lots of light in, if that's what you're looking for.
- 18:00Mike Marrs: Uh it's got a power lift gate.
- 18:02Mike Marrs: And one of the things that I really like about it, if you look down the side of it in these pictures, it's slick.
- 18:07Mike Marrs: It's almost like it's been shaved, but it's it's got deployable door handles.
- 18:11Mike Marrs: You walk up, you got the key fob, and then the handle pops out so that you can get it and open the door.
- 18:16Mike Marrs: I love it.
- 18:17Mike Marrs: And then uh we were rolling on the 22-inch satin dark gray wheels, and it also uh just really a nice looking car, particularly with that black trim.
- 18:29Mike Marrs: Now on the inside of this vehicle, we had the caraway ebony Windsor leather seat.
- 18:37Mike Marrs: That's a heck of a name to say that it's a light brown as far as I'm concerned.
- 18:40Mike Marrs: Front heats, front seats are heated and ventilated, and the second row seats are also heated and ventilated in this vehicle.
- 18:47Mike Marrs: It's got a 13.1 inch infotainment screen, and this is where you're gonna find all your controls for your convenience controls.
- 18:54Mike Marrs: And one of the things that uh you'll see here coming up in one of the pictures here in a moment, it is very slick.
- 19:01Mike Marrs: You're not gonna find any knobs or buttons to turn.
- 19:04Mike Marrs: You're gonna have to do everything through the screens on it.
- 19:07Mike Marrs: And some of the icons, by it coming from the UK over here, you've got to do a little hunting, you've got to get used to them, and you probably would real quick if you own this vehicle.
- 19:16Mike Marrs: It does have the wireless charging, it's got Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the uh it's got a Meridian 3D surround system.
- 19:26Mike Marrs: It's got 400 watts, it's got 15 speakers scattered around inside this vehicle.
- 19:31Mike Marrs: And you can pull up to a red light, and any of these guys that want to uh play games with you and see who's got the loudest, you can play with them pretty well with this vehicle.
- 19:39Mike Marrs: Not just I did that, it's just what I was told.
- 19:42Mike Marrs: And then uh up under the hood to make this vehicle go.
- 19:46Mike Marrs: Well, here's this picture right here on the screen.
- 19:48Mike Marrs: You can see how there's no knobs, no buttons.
- 19:50Mike Marrs: You've got to do everything through the screens.
- 19:52Mike Marrs: Now the engine on this is a 3.0 inline six, it's a hybrid.
- 19:57Mike Marrs: Now it combines to put together 454 horsepower.
- 20:01Mike Marrs: And even though this is a 5,800 pound vehicle, that is plenty of juice to make this thing go.
- 20:07Mike Marrs: It'll jump and run on you real quick.
- 20:08Mike Marrs: 457 pound feet of torque.
- 20:10Mike Marrs: It's backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission for the all-wheel drive.
- 20:14Mike Marrs: And it's got a tow rating of 6,614 pounds.
- 20:19Mike Marrs: Now, that's pretty hefty as far as you know, light boats, kayaks, motorcycles.
- 20:25Mike Marrs: You can do a lot of towing different things that you're going to do around town on a regular basis.
- 20:29Mike Marrs: Now, uh it's rated on the gasoline motor only, it's rated at 21 miles per gallon.
- 20:36Mike Marrs: 53 by the common combined of the gasoline and the electric motor.
- 20:41Mike Marrs: And one of the other things I really like about this vehicle is got the dynamic air suspension.
- 20:45Mike Marrs: And so it'll level out and it does really great going down the roads, particularly in a 5,800-pound vehicle.
- 20:50Mike Marrs: It's a nice riding driving vehicle.
- 20:52Mike Marrs: The base trim price on this vehicle is$95,100 as tested.
- 20:58Mike Marrs: $96,725.
- 21:01Mike Marrs: If you step over to the gas model, you can get into this thing as cheap as$81,325.
- 21:07Mike Marrs: Some of the things to compare it to, try to find some of those high-end hybrids.
- 21:11Mike Marrs: The Porsche hybrid that starts at$103,000.
- 21:15Mike Marrs: Mercedes Benz GLE hybrid kicks out at$71,350.
- 21:21Mike Marrs: While the Rivian, first time I've had a chance to talk about the Rivian, R1S starts at$75,900.
- 21:28Mike Marrs: So these are all up there in that range of luxury SUVs that are hybrids that you might want to look at if you're looking at that category of a vehicle.
- 21:37Don Armstrong: All right.
- 21:37Don Armstrong: Thank you, sir.
- 21:38Don Armstrong: Time now for Jeff's cruise in and events calendars.

- 22:23Jeff Dziekan: The Vintage Days Classic Car and Bike Show.
- 22:26Jeff Dziekan: It's at uh 11 50 South I-10 West Beaumont.

- 22:30Jeff Dziekan: Entry is free.
- 22:32Jeff Dziekan: Oh, I'm sorry, entry is a question mark.

- 22:38Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, they're going to give us money if they see us coming.
- 22:41Jeff Dziekan: Highway Rob.

- 22:50Jeff Dziekan: The entry See the Flyer.

- 22:56Jeff Dziekan: Tomorrow, yeah, sorry, one more for today is the classic Japanese car meet uh Broadway Imperland.
- 23:02Jeff Dziekan: Classic.

- 23:05Jeff Dziekan: Uh the entry is free for that one.
- 23:08Jeff Dziekan: And then tomorrow, lastly, we've got Beat the Heat Car Meet, Dairy Queen, Campbell Road, Houston.

- 23:37Jeff Dziekan: It's in spring, it's at 8715 Spring Cypress Road.
- 23:40Jeff Dziekan: Uh it's open cruising, and the entry is free.
- 23:44Jeff Dziekan: So get on out there.
- 23:45Jeff Dziekan: They're starting to wind down.
- 23:46Jeff Dziekan: If you got a favorite, go out there and do it.
- 23:48Don Armstrong: All right.
- 23:49Don Armstrong: Thank you, sir.
- 23:49Don Armstrong: You bet.
- 23:50Don Armstrong: Um, I've got a couple of news stories that uh I think uh I think would be good um to hear about.
- 23:59Don Armstrong: Uh Mitsubishi.
- 24:01Don Armstrong: Mitsubishi.
- 24:03Don Armstrong: Mitsubishi.
- 24:06Don Armstrong: Where have they been?
- 24:08Don Armstrong: Well, off the radar.
- 24:10Don Armstrong: Mitsubishi Motors confirmed the September 2nd global debut of the fifth generation Pajero.
- 24:18Don Armstrong: Do you remember the Pajero?
- 24:20Don Armstrong: The Lillian Thals had.
- 24:24Don Armstrong: So they're bringing back the Pajero with a teaser website touting a digital era update with modern passenger comforts that remains true to the SUV's off-road rally racing routes without a single compromise.
- 24:38Don Armstrong: I did not write that.
- 24:39Don Armstrong: Obviously, some PR uh person did, and they're getting raises everywhere.
- 24:44Don Armstrong: Mitsubishi doesn't give a clear view of the overall styling, but shows a head-on peak of the Pajero's horizontal I-beam lighting with lamp assemblies running vertically up and down the front quarters.
- 24:58Don Armstrong: Do you have that vision in your mind?
- 25:00Don Armstrong: I don't.
- 25:02Don Armstrong: Good luck to Mitsubishi.
- 25:05Don Armstrong: Never been a big fan.
- 25:06Don Armstrong: That's why they've pretty much gone out of business, and they now get other vehicles and put the Mitsubishi front end on it and call it a Mitsubishi.
- 25:16Don Armstrong: But that's okay because that's a better well, it was a better choice.
- 25:22Don Armstrong: The Pajero revival represents a critical test as Mitsubishi attempts to reverse declining sales and restore the brand's identity.
- 25:30Don Armstrong: Just saying.
- 25:32Don Armstrong: The automaker struggled to differentiate itself after dropping iconic models in favor of mainstream crossovers.
- 25:38Don Armstrong: Mitsubishi plans a new vehicle family around the Pajero, as it has with the Delica van series.
- 25:46Don Armstrong: And if I remember correctly, I believe that the Lillientals had the Delica as well.
- 25:52Mike Marrs: Yep.
- 25:52Mike Marrs: Yes, sir.
- 25:53Mike Marrs: They sure did.
- 25:54Don Armstrong: I'll bet they're excited.
- 25:56Don Armstrong: I'll bet you Mitsubishi will give them one because of all of the PR that they've done.
- 26:01Don Armstrong: I think they should give you one for just talking about it.
- 26:02Don Armstrong: No, sir.
- 26:03Don Armstrong: No, no.
- 26:04Don Armstrong: Send it to Don Armstrong.
- 26:06Don Armstrong: Yeah, no, no, they don't probably don't like me at Mitsubishi, but that's okay.
- 26:11Don Armstrong: Uh Hyundai may export body on frame trucks from the U.S.
- 26:18Don Armstrong: as a significant growth driver in its global expansion plan through 2030, signaling confidence that American-made pickups and SUVs can compete worldwide.
- 26:28Don Armstrong: South Korean car maker also wants to build a family of light trucks beyond the boulder and crater off-road concepts.
- 26:36Don Armstrong: Have you seen those?
- 26:36Don Armstrong: No, I haven't.
- 26:37Don Armstrong: They're really cool, actually.
- 26:38Don Armstrong: And will unveil a truck concept at next year's New York Auto Show.
- 26:43Don Armstrong: Better be sporty.
- 26:44Don Armstrong: Oh, it is.
- 26:45Don Armstrong: And those those concepts, you can look them up online.
- 26:48Don Armstrong: They are really cool, I have to admit.
- 26:50Don Armstrong: And China has ordered a sweeping vehicle recall program to control safety risks hidden in emergency mechanical door handles inside electric vehicles with Tesla alone ordered to recall 2.98 million vehicles.
- 27:07Don Armstrong: So if it's going to go over there, it's going to come back over here as well.
- 27:12Don Armstrong: The problem is the thing gets in a wreck and it shuts down everything, the emergency responders don't have a way to get in because nothing opens it.
- 27:22Don Armstrong: And the one of the remedies that's going to get by and going to make it happen is a label on the door that says do this to get in.
- 27:31Jeff Dziekan: Well, the second remedy is just the second remedy is buy something else.
- 27:36Don Armstrong: Well, there's that.
- 27:36Don Armstrong: And somebody asked me the other day, you know, I've got a Tesla, but I'm thinking about looking at some other EVs.
- 27:41Don Armstrong: I said, Oh my God.
- 27:42Don Armstrong: Well, you're in luck because everybody's making them and you're not selling them, so you ought to be able to do that.
- 27:48Don Armstrong: I'm not sure.
- 27:48Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 27:49Don Armstrong: He's going to open an EV dealership over there.
- 27:52Mike Marrs: Yeah, I just ordered some more uh leaf cell batteries.
- 27:56Mike Marrs: Yeah.
- 27:56Don Armstrong: Yeah, batteries?
- 27:57Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 27:58Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 27:58Don Armstrong: He's wearing a Duracell shirt.
- 28:02Don Armstrong: Funny, funny.
- 28:03Don Armstrong: Funny guy in the bunny.
- 28:06Don Armstrong: Oh, yeah.
- 28:06Don Armstrong: I got one other story.
- 28:08Don Armstrong: The Jack Demer Auto Group is launching a drone delivery program to move auto parts from its Ford dealership and warehouse to its auto service center in Wayne.
- 28:19Don Armstrong: In partnership with two local drone software and piloting startups, Detroit-based Airspace Link and Brighton-based Blue Flight.
- 28:27Don Armstrong: The dealership says it's the first in the country to conduct a drone delivery of auto parts.
- 28:32Don Armstrong: Drone delivery opens the door for more efficient transport of auto parts with the goal of expanding to a 12-mile radius to each uh both of the uh Jack Dimmer dealerships on Michigan Avenue in Wayne and Dearborn as well as to remote car repairs.
- 28:49Mike Marrs: You got to figure that smaller parts, but even a starter.
- 28:52Mike Marrs: How big of a drone do you need to carry a starter?
- 28:55Don Armstrong: Well, a starter is heavy.
- 28:56Mike Marrs: That's what I'm saying.
- 28:57Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 28:57Jeff Dziekan: And what happens if the part is wrong?
- 29:00Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 29:02Don Armstrong: You're still going to have to drive it back, and good luck starting the car.
- 29:08Mike Marrs: Or maybe yeah, I'm I'm just kind of dumbfounded.
- 29:12Jeff Dziekan: It's the wrong color.
- 29:13Jeff Dziekan: It's the wrong part of the color.
- 29:14Don Armstrong: Well, if you if you were to see the drone that they used an example, here's all the news media around it going, ooh, it's a little bitty thing.
- 29:20Don Armstrong: It's about this big, and the the hatch is on the top, and they put this box-looking thing in there, and apparently it opens a flap down below when it reaches the place where it's and it pops it out down the bottom.
- 29:33Mike Marrs: Yeah, they're just having a bait.
- 29:34Don Armstrong: It's like a bird dropping.
- 29:38Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, but see, that was they said after that was fake.
- 29:42Jeff Dziekan: That because there's there's you keep the owner that asked for the that's where they told him to drop it, so that was all staged.
- 29:50Mike Marrs: Uh yeah, okay.
- 29:51Jeff Dziekan: With the news media all around.
- 29:53Jeff Dziekan: Look what I did.
- 29:54Jeff Dziekan: I've landed in the pool.
- 29:55Jeff Dziekan: Well, good for you.
- 29:57Jeff Dziekan: You're an idiot.
- 29:59Mike Marrs: There goes your starter.
