- 0:09Speaker 1: Hey, this is Freddy Rodriguez. And I'm Wilmer Valderrama. Welcome
- 0:13Speaker 1: to the Dos Amigos podcast. Did you forget what this
- 0:16Speaker 1: podcast name was?
- 0:18Speaker 2: No, I was trying to do it like staccato. You
- 0:20Speaker 2: had a little brain blip where you looked over there
- 0:23Speaker 2: and I'm.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Like, where am I? You literally looked at Leo like,
- 0:26Speaker 1: where am I right now? Wait, wait, what's this called?
- 0:29Speaker 2: So this is episode 672.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Is this the Halloween episode? This is the Halloween episode.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And you know why we're doing one? What? Because our
- 0:38Speaker 1: sponsors love it. They love the Halloween episode? Oh, yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 1: They love it. Leo, which one are some of our sponsors?
- 0:46Speaker 1: Current sponsors. You couldn't even tell us?
- 0:50Speaker 3: I don't want to butcher it.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Well, insert sponsor here.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Wilmer, have you ever decorated your house for Halloween?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Like the outside? Yeah, yeah. And also, Amanda is very
- 1:02Speaker 1: good at... Staying current with all the holidays. Even on
- 1:05Speaker 1: the small holidays, like it's like flag day, she'll put
- 1:08Speaker 1: the flags up everywhere. Oh, cool, man.
- 1:09Speaker 2: She's very good and the kids love it. And it's
- 1:12Speaker 2: really sweet too that she remembers that. Halloween is my favorite.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:17Speaker 2: There's so much about Halloween and Dia de los Muertos
- 1:19Speaker 2: that I think is so fun.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Like it reminds... Humanity.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I wanna say it reminds the United States really, because
- 1:27Speaker 2: it's only here really. Like everybody else in the world
- 1:30Speaker 2: has seen movies about the Halloween traditions in the United States.
- 1:34Speaker 2: They don't really celebrate Halloween. Like in Venezuela, we do carnival, right?
- 1:38Speaker 2: We don't do Halloween. Carnival, like in Venezuela?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Carnival, yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 2: February 2 is carnival, and we basically, everybody dresses in carnival,
- 1:45Speaker 2: you know, stuff, and then there's like parades.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Like Brazil? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but we don't have Halloween.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We don't have like, you know, we don't like trick-or-treat.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's not safe.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So when was the first time? When you were a
- 1:57Speaker 2: kid and you saw that as being part of American culture.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It's in the movies first. Yeah, yeah. And then you
- 2:03Speaker 1: come out here and you're like, oh, they're going to
- 2:05Speaker 1: knock on our door? Yeah. And they're going to say
- 2:07Speaker 1: trick or treat? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, oh, we
- 2:09Speaker 1: got to get candy? Right.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Like, it got very exciting for us. And then I
- 2:12Speaker 2: just bought all the way. Oh, yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it was good. What was your first Halloween experience here?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Do you remember? It was back in 1994. Yeah. And
- 2:22Speaker 1: I remember being in this little neighborhood in Van Nuys. Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And just seeing the little packs of kids, you know,
- 2:29Speaker 2: going from house to house. And were you like, that's
- 2:34Speaker 2: what I saw in the movies when I was a kid?
- 2:35Speaker 1: A hundred percent. Yeah, yeah. Except, like, I didn't recognize
- 2:39Speaker 1: half the costumes, right? Because they were doing stuff that
- 2:41Speaker 1: I was not in America for, right? Like, the trendable stuff.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But yeah, I love Halloween. I love the energy of Halloween.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I love how fun it is for kids, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 2: but it also reminds us to stay young, right?
- 2:54Speaker 1: It's like, you know, we all dress up too. And,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, we kind of commit. Do you like Halloween?
- 2:58Speaker 1: I do. Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 2: When I was a kid, I used to love it.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But in Chicago, Halloween was different. You know, we would,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you know, we, we trick or treat and all that,
- 3:06Speaker 2: but it's, it's so ghetto, man. We, You know, we
- 3:11Speaker 2: go like bombing and like we would.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Get like, we call it bombing.
- 3:14Speaker 2: We'd get like eggs and then it'd be like this
- 3:17Speaker 2: group from this block would go against that group from
- 3:19Speaker 2: that block. And it's a whole system behind it. We would, like,
- 3:23Speaker 2: bury the eggs for, like, a month so that they
- 3:25Speaker 2: would stink.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God. And then, like, go to that kid, bro. No,
- 3:30Speaker 1: that neighborhood. Yeah, neighborhoods would go to that neighborhood. But
- 3:32Speaker 1: were you that kid? Yeah, of course you joined in. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You either joined in or you, you know. I love
- 3:38Speaker 2: that you look to me and you go, what, are
- 3:39Speaker 2: you an idiot? Of course they threw eggs at houses.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Shady cream, like, all that stuff.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Man, we were bad kids back then, you know. So
- 3:47Speaker 2: we would do all that stuff. So it wasn't just
- 3:50Speaker 2: like trick-or-treating and all that, but it became that once
- 3:53Speaker 2: I had kids, and so it became very much, we
- 3:56Speaker 2: had this tradition in our house where the kids would
- 3:58Speaker 2: go trick-or-treating, and then they would come home, and we
- 4:02Speaker 2: would put on the great pumpkin Charlie Brown every single year,
- 4:06Speaker 2: and they would spill all their candy on the floor,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and they would eat candy while watching- You know, stuff
- 4:11Speaker 2: like that. But now your kids are getting to that age,
- 4:14Speaker 2: so you'll have Halloween traditions as well.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Nakano loves Halloween. Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Her and Amanda have a different costume every day that week.
- 4:23Speaker 2: He goes to school with a different costume every day.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I kind of absolutely loves it, loves it. What was
- 4:28Speaker 2: your favorite costume growing up? You remember anything? Yeah, I
- 4:31Speaker 2: remember I dressed as one of the baseball furies in Warriors.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Remember that? Yes. You would split his face. Of course.
- 4:39Speaker 1: One baseball band, the Suspenders. Yeah. Yeah, I was a
- 4:42Speaker 1: baseball fury.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Even to this day, that's like my default costume. costume
- 4:46Speaker 2: if I'm going somewhere, because it's so easy. You put
- 4:48Speaker 2: on a baseball jersey and.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You paint your face. Warriors, come out and play.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because that movie was so prominent
- 4:57Speaker 2: in my neighborhood.
- 4:57Speaker 1: What about you? What was your go-to? Zorro. Zorro. How apropos? Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I love Zorro for many, many reasons, but in Venezuela,
- 5:10Speaker 2: almost everywhere.
- 5:12Speaker 1: One out of three kids was Zorro too. Oh really? Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 1: it was a big deal.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Zorro was like, Zorro, Batman, Superman, everybody was those two characters.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Did you guys, you know, when I was a kid,
- 5:24Speaker 2: what was big was like, they had these like little cheap,
- 5:28Speaker 2: like you would get like a box and then this
- 5:30Speaker 2: box would be like the, whatever, the costume. And then
- 5:34Speaker 2: it was just like a plastic mask with some like
- 5:36Speaker 2: holes for the eyes. You said they didn't even have
- 5:39Speaker 2: that in Venezuela, but that was very, very big here
- 5:42Speaker 2: in the States. I just saw a documentary on the
- 5:45Speaker 2: company that made those masks. Oh, really?
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: They hit it big, like the company that launched the
- 5:52Speaker 2: Pet Rock? I don't know, but those particular masks and
- 5:58Speaker 2: those costumes were so a part of American culture from
- 6:02Speaker 2: the 70s and 80s.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm talking about, Leo, man? Those masks.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Those masks from the 70s and 80s and 90s, you
- 6:09Speaker 2: would just do these plastic Halloween masks.
- 6:13Speaker 1: They would come with the whole ass. Anyway. Wait, plastic
- 6:15Speaker 1: Halloween masks? They were very realistic? Yeah. There were monsters,
- 6:19Speaker 1: there were werewolves. Yeah, so if you were Superman, it'd
- 6:23Speaker 1: be half of your face. Oh, yeah. Yeah, and then
- 6:26Speaker 1: just the string that would hold it back here. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But it was like a thing. Like every year you
- 6:32Speaker 1: went and you got what you were going to be.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That's so fucking cool.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Like a storm trooper, like a- That's very cool.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Star Wars. I know what you're saying. That was big.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I used to go to the Halloween stores and try
- 6:42Speaker 2: to get like the monster masks, the ones that just
- 6:44Speaker 2: go completely over.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah. And it was either a skull or a werewolf
- 6:48Speaker 1: or whatever. And I liked to play the fake decoration monster. Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So I would stand in front of the front door
- 6:58Speaker 1: like this. Yeah. Yeah. and then all of a sudden
- 7:03Speaker 1: you want candy and all of a sudden you see
- 7:06Speaker 1: an accent you want candy you want candy he's a
- 7:11Speaker 1: foreign you.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Want candy it's a lobo it's a lobo it's not
- 7:17Speaker 2: a werewolf it's a lobo but I like that one
- 7:21Speaker 2: a lot yeah yeah well man I remember as a
- 7:23Speaker 2: kid I used to you know like the we would
- 7:25Speaker 2: have these like plastic pumpkins that you would just stuff
- 7:28Speaker 2: with candy and Now I see kids with like a
- 7:32Speaker 2: pillow sheet, a pillowcase, and they just fill that up.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But as a kid, the pumpkin was a big deal.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I mean, it still is a big deal, but the
- 7:40Speaker 1: smart kids bring the pillowcase. Yeah, yeah. So you can
- 7:43Speaker 1: load that thing up. You know what we do at
- 7:44Speaker 1: the house?
- 7:45Speaker 2: We're the house that gives away actual candy bars, you know?
- 7:51Speaker 1: We go to Costco, we stock up. What was it,
- 7:54Speaker 1: like Kit Kat bars? Yeah. We get full blown. You know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: Kit Kat was my favorite I want to get. What
- 7:59Speaker 1: about you? Yeah, yeah. I was more into like... Tootsie Roll?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Tootsie Roll? No, it was like the candy where I
- 8:06Speaker 1: raid your office. Like, you know, that kind of... Oh,
- 8:10Speaker 1: the kind of sour... Yeah, I love anything like... Sour Patches, Airheads. Skittles, Lemonheads. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Of course, of course. I could tear up some Lemonheads
- 8:19Speaker 1: right now.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Have you ever... Let me see. Do you watch scary
- 8:24Speaker 2: movies for Halloween? It's like, oh, it's Halloween week. Let's
- 8:28Speaker 2: have a scary movie, me and you.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Mi amor. I mean, not really.
- 8:32Speaker 2: As a kid, you know, as a group, even when
- 8:35Speaker 2: my kids were little, it was more like, you know,
- 8:37Speaker 2: they would watch like cartoons, like the Charlie Brown and
- 8:39Speaker 2: stuff like that.
- 8:40Speaker 1: But as they got older, like scary movies wasn't really. No,
- 8:43Speaker 1: not maybe for Christmas. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's different. We
- 8:48Speaker 1: watch that every year. Yeah. And I kind of watches
- 8:51Speaker 1: it every week. She's obsessed with that movie. So good.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So loves it. Have you done the live to picture experience?
- 8:57Speaker 3: No.
- 8:57Speaker 1: They do a live orchestra and. Danny Elfman comes out
- 9:01Speaker 1: and he does all the songs to the picture. Wow, really?
- 9:04Speaker 1: Hollywood Bowl. Oh, yes. Even in Anaheim, they're going to
- 9:08Speaker 1: Anaheim too. Yeah. Have you been to it? Oh, yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 1: How is it live? It's great. It's really magical. It's
- 9:13Speaker 1: really great. See all the artists come out and do
- 9:15Speaker 1: the songs. Yeah, shout out to Danny. It's pretty cool.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So are you a scary movie guy? Do you like
- 9:21Speaker 1: scary movies? No, not necessarily, man. Do you don't get
- 9:24Speaker 1: scared easily? I just don't. We make the soup, so
- 9:29Speaker 1: we don't drink it. Yeah. I enjoyed Obsession. I just
- 9:34Speaker 1: saw that. I thought it was wonderful, that movie.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Did it scare you? Or did it disturb you? Because
- 9:38Speaker 2: that's a different type of movie, right? No, I thought
- 9:40Speaker 2: it was just really well executed, and I appreciated the
- 9:45Speaker 2: execution of the story.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness, yeah. But that director, too. I thought
- 9:50Speaker 1: the execution was just superb on that movie. or weapons or,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, I like stuff like that.
- 9:56Speaker 2: That's really like saying something and, and has, like this,
- 10:00Speaker 2: like really intricate story behind it. I'm not, I'm not
- 10:03Speaker 2: too into the sort of the gratuitous violence.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 2: No, I'm not dissing it, you know, but I'm just
- 10:12Speaker 2: saying for me, I'm not, what about you?
- 10:14Speaker 1: You like scary stuff?
- 10:16Speaker 2: I can appreciate really good scary movies. Like, I love
- 10:18Speaker 2: the Insidious series. I love the Conjuring series also. I
- 10:25Speaker 2: started with my love for The Ring.
- 10:28Speaker 1: The Ring. You know? When we were kids. The Grudge. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Freddy Krueger movies. Chainsaw Massacre. Freddy. Freddy, yeah. Jason. Jason Halloween, yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy that those two names just got such
- 10:43Speaker 2: bad rep after those guys became serial killers?
- 10:45Speaker 1: I know, right? Yeah, it's like, how do you name
- 10:47Speaker 1: your kid? How do you name your kid Freddy? After that.
- 10:49Speaker 1: How do you name your kid Freddy? You got me.
- 10:54Speaker 2: You got me. So is there a movie that really
- 11:00Speaker 2: scared you? For me, it was Freddy Krueger.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah? That screwed me up when I was a kid.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It was like the bed swallowing up the- Well, it
- 11:06Speaker 2: was just the fact that I didn't want to go
- 11:08Speaker 2: to sleep because that's where he could get me.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 2: It's like the same thing as Jaws. You don't want
- 11:14Speaker 2: to get in the water because that's where the shark
- 11:15Speaker 2: can get you. You have no control after you fall asleep.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:21Speaker 2: You know, man, I remember as a kid, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 2: like I have two older brothers who are a lot
- 11:26Speaker 2: older than me. And so, like, you grow up in
- 11:28Speaker 2: a one TV household, so you're sort of forced to
- 11:31Speaker 2: see what your brothers are watching. And, you know, there
- 11:34Speaker 2: was no like, oh, he's too young. You're just watching
- 11:38Speaker 2: what's on, you know. And I remember them having on
- 11:40Speaker 2: The Exorcist one time And I never, I mean, try
- 11:45Speaker 2: watching that when you're like eight, you know, whatever, six,
- 11:48Speaker 2: seven years old. You're watching now, you're like, oh, funny.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Like the visual effects are not like fantastic. It just
- 11:53Speaker 2: scared me so much as a kid. Like I never
- 11:55Speaker 2: even revisited that film. And William Friedkin too, right?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Great director and all that.
- 12:01Speaker 2: But man, and maybe it was that experience watching that
- 12:04Speaker 2: as a kid that I kind of shied away from
- 12:07Speaker 2: horror movies, you know?
- 12:10Speaker 1: But wait, we have someone here. Brooklyn's in the house.
- 12:15Speaker 1: What's up, Brooklyn? Who is not a fan of horror movies.
- 12:18Speaker 1: What's up, Brooklyn? What's up, Brooklyn?
- 12:23Speaker 2: And I want to know what your beef is with
- 12:27Speaker 2: horror movies.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Okay, my beef is, I think, the thing that people like,
- 12:32Speaker 1: which is the jump scare. I'm not trying to jump
- 12:35Speaker 1: scare my seat. I don't want to do that. Right.
- 12:38Speaker 1: But I get that people love it. What movie did
- 12:41Speaker 1: that for you and you said, yeah, that's not me?
- 12:43Speaker 1: I would say the last one that did that for
- 12:45Speaker 1: me was Sinners, which I loved. It was an amazing movie.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Sinners was a jump scare movie for you? It was
- 12:49Speaker 1: a jump scare movie for those of us afflicted. Is
- 12:52Speaker 1: it because Michael B. Jordan was so off-putting? I mean,
- 12:55Speaker 1: handsome man. He was so awesome. That's a jump scare
- 12:59Speaker 1: if I know one.
- 13:00Speaker 3: But no, I couldn't do it.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Really?
- 13:03Speaker 3: Would you?
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Serious was incredible. I thought it was so... I
- 13:07Speaker 1: thought it was fine, right? Yeah. But can you do the, like,
- 13:10Speaker 1: stomach turning?
- 13:12Speaker 2: So Insidious and Conjuring, like, all these movies are crazy.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Jump scare movies. That's more like paranormal, right? Yeah, it's
- 13:20Speaker 1: like the demon world and all that, but it's like... Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: But the scares are crazy, right?
- 13:26Speaker 2: But that's the type of stuff you like more, like,
- 13:29Speaker 2: paranormal stuff. Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I believe in ghosts and
- 13:32Speaker 1: all that. Do you believe in ghosts? I don't know
- 13:36Speaker 1: if I believe it. Is it because you never experienced
- 13:39Speaker 1: anything weird? Maybe, yeah. Maybe that.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Maybe because my own spiritual beliefs don't really lend itself
- 13:46Speaker 2: to ghosts and stuff. I don't have an opinion one
- 13:51Speaker 2: way or another.
- 13:52Speaker 1: What about you? Have you had any paranormal experiences like that? Yes,
- 13:57Speaker 1: I have.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Do tell.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Do tell. I believe I was eight years old. I
- 14:05Speaker 1: was eight years old. My parents always left me alone
- 14:07Speaker 1: in the house. It took about two or three hours.
- 14:10Speaker 1: They said they were going to the store, and sometimes
- 14:12Speaker 1: it would take six hours. And then shortly, my other
- 14:18Speaker 1: friend would show up. At first, I thought he was
- 14:25Speaker 1: another kid. Imaginary friend. Turned out to be my imaginary friend. Look,
- 14:38Speaker 1: all I'm saying is that I messed up, man. My
- 14:41Speaker 1: imaginary friend messed me up. Well, it's hard to say
- 14:45Speaker 1: because have I technically seen a ghost? Yeah. No. Do
- 14:52Speaker 1: I have respect for the fact that I'll put it
- 14:55Speaker 1: like this.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I have avoided Anything that might expose me to something
- 15:01Speaker 2: I may not understand from the beyond.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Like you've avoided.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Meaning like people like, we're going to go into this
- 15:07Speaker 2: house when I was young.
- 15:09Speaker 1: We're going to go into this house because he's haunted. No,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm cool. Like I'm sure it is. Right.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And like you guys are like waiting to hear the voice,
- 15:17Speaker 2: waiting to hear like it's something move.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't need to see anything move or anything, whatever.
- 15:22Speaker 1: So I've always kind of avoided it. So like haunted
- 15:25Speaker 1: houses you're not a fan of? Like going to like
- 15:28Speaker 1: a real haunted house? No, no. Like, you know, like
- 15:30Speaker 1: every Halloween they're like, ooh, there's a haunted house. Oh,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I love those. I love those because I can punch
- 15:35Speaker 1: it and it will actually hurt it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Like Universal has something like that.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I love Halloween Horror Nights. I love Not Scary Farm.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Huge fanatic of Universal Studios does one of the best Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 2: you know, experiences with the iconic characters that you watch
- 15:51Speaker 2: in movies and TV. So that's always fun, the way
- 15:54Speaker 2: they cinematically make it come to life. I actually had
- 15:58Speaker 2: the privilege to bring in Robert to Halloween Horror Nights.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You took Robert?
- 16:03Speaker 2: Well, I took him because I partnered up with Universal
- 16:08Speaker 2: to design the From Dusk Till Dawn maze. So we
- 16:13Speaker 2: had a Halloween Horror Night from Dusk to Dawn Maze
- 16:16Speaker 2: from the master of the mazes, partnered up with, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 2: they had my character, they had the Gecko Brothers and
- 16:23Speaker 2: all that stuff. And we were an actual Halloween Horror
- 16:26Speaker 2: Night maze. And it was just like, just amazing to
- 16:30Speaker 2: understand the science of like, you walk over here, you
- 16:32Speaker 2: misdirect them and.
- 16:33Speaker 1: You scare them to the right, right? You move them
- 16:35Speaker 1: to the left, and you're moving to the right, you
- 16:37Speaker 1: scare them from the left, right?
- 16:38Speaker 2: Wait, wait, and this is from a real haunted house designer?
- 16:42Speaker 2: A guy who does, a person who designs? Who does
- 16:45Speaker 2: the haunted house experiences.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Oh, okay. But he's like the mastermind of Halloween Horror Night,
- 16:51Speaker 1: you know, maces. They call it maces.
- 16:54Speaker 2: So it was a Halloween Horror Night mace themed after
- 16:57Speaker 2: From Dusk Till Dawn.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Very cool. It was very cool. So I'm a huge
- 17:01Speaker 1: fan of that stuff. Was somebody playing you? Yeah. Yeah, really?
- 17:05Speaker 1: They're jumping out? It was very cool. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's weird because even when they tried to
- 17:10Speaker 2: scare me, they also had an accent.
- 17:14Speaker 1: They made sure to hire somebody. Hey, Abu. I was like, oh, wow.
- 17:19Speaker 1: That sounds like me. That sounds like me. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 1: But I love that. I also love... I mean, I
- 17:27Speaker 1: kind of, but I'm not the dude that's like, oh, man,
- 17:30Speaker 1: the next, you know, gory. I don't do the gory stuff. Yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, the gratuitous stuff, yeah. I mean, hey, man.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Did you like the Sixth Sense? Oh, yeah. Yeah, see,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I love stuff like that that's more, like, psychological. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Sixth Sense. What about Signs? I love Signs. Signs is crazy.
- 17:51Speaker 1: All that early M. Night stuff. Did you jump scare...
- 17:55Speaker 1: At the screen.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Remember with the TV screen, the cameras, the TV screen,
- 17:59Speaker 2: and they're like, you know, Joaquin Phoenix's character freezes.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yeah. And then the camera moves to the TV screen
- 18:06Speaker 1: and sees the reflection of the alien holding the kid. Yeah, totally, man.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That was crazy. I love that.
- 18:11Speaker 2: That, you know, we were just talking about Sinners. I
- 18:13Speaker 2: thought Sinners was... wonderful and deserved every ounce of praise.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I thought that was wonderful. Also groundbreaking for a movie
- 18:21Speaker 1: of that genre to make it to the Oscars that way.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Yeah, man. I just have such great respect.
- 18:27Speaker 2: You know, that's the thing is like whether I'm a
- 18:28Speaker 2: fan or not, I just have such great respect for
- 18:31Speaker 2: that genre. It's the only genre that continuously delivers at
- 18:36Speaker 2: the box office, right?
- 18:38Speaker 1: And people freaking show up. Yeah. And it becomes so
- 18:41Speaker 1: much more sophisticated too, right?
- 18:43Speaker 2: And do you think that it's also a movie that
- 18:45Speaker 2: you want to share with a friend? And I think
- 18:47Speaker 2: that's where the numbers are good. Oh, to be scared
- 18:50Speaker 2: with a friend, you mean?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah. Like you don't ever go by yourself
- 18:52Speaker 1: to watch a scary movie.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure some people do, but for the
- 18:56Speaker 2: most part, the reason why they do so well is
- 18:57Speaker 2: because people go in groups.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Right, right. Kind of like Pixar movies and Disney movies.
- 19:01Speaker 1: People go together to watch those. Oh, yeah, yeah. And
- 19:04Speaker 1: I never thought about that. But Leo, you have a
- 19:06Speaker 1: very strong opinion about sinners, don't you? No comment.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Oh.
- 19:13Speaker 1: You see? You see? You don't like it, Leo? What's your... Honestly,
- 19:18Speaker 1: no comment.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I've been in very heated debates.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Very heated? From my opinion.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I thought it was a very well-done movie.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I'll leave it at that. Right. Oh, interesante. Do you think...
- 19:29Speaker 1: I don't want to push it to give us more,
- 19:31Speaker 1: but do you think it has something to do with
- 19:33Speaker 1: how heavily influenced it was by a certain other movie?
- 19:38Speaker 3: That is very much.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Still don't.
- 19:41Speaker 3: That is very much part of it.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Oh, I never thought of that. Did it twist her? Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 1: yeah oh i see it yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 2: You start seeing the key of events like it's a
- 19:56Speaker 2: pretty interesting i mean look i will say sinners took
- 19:58Speaker 2: it to a whole different level right right but at
- 20:01Speaker 2: the same time so did dusk dusk was a bank
- 20:04Speaker 2: robber movie The first quarter of the movie is a
- 20:08Speaker 2: bankrupt movie.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The best bankrupt movie of all time. Right. And then
- 20:12Speaker 1: they enter the Titty Twister bar. Right. And then it
- 20:16Speaker 1: turns into a vampire horror movie that's like R-rated. Right.
- 20:20Speaker 2: But at the top, you know, it's like, if you
- 20:23Speaker 2: just did the movie on George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino
- 20:26Speaker 2: robbing bags and being chased by the Rangers, sick.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Right. Great movie already. Great fucking movie. And then all
- 20:33Speaker 1: of a sudden it turns into a horror movie. So
- 20:35Speaker 1: there was levels to Dusk.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But now, like, is the world melting for you when
- 20:39Speaker 2: it comes to Sinners and From Dusk Till Dawn's comparisons?
- 20:42Speaker 2: I just, man, I didn't, I must be living under
- 20:45Speaker 2: a rock. I just never, I never put that together.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you know, yeah. I still thought it
- 20:53Speaker 1: was pretty well done. I don't disagree. I think the
- 20:57Speaker 1: movie was very well done for sure. Yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 2: But look, every generation is supposed to have their own
- 21:02Speaker 2: version of From Dusk Till Dawn. I don't think that
- 21:04Speaker 2: kids nowadays are excited to watch From Dusk Till Dawn, right?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Right. I wish they would because- Was it like 20
- 21:09Speaker 1: years ago, that film? Dusk? Oof, more. Wow, is it 30?
- 21:14Speaker 1: 30 plus. Early 90s. I think it was 93? It
- 21:18Speaker 1: was like- 96. Oh, man. Yeah, 30 years. Oh, my God. Wait,
- 21:25Speaker 1: Quentin rolled that, right? Yeah, Quentin. And Robert directed it, right?
- 21:28Speaker 1: And Robert directed it, yeah. Robert directed it, yeah, yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Salma Hayek, she was so scary in it. Yeah, she
- 21:36Speaker 1: was terrific. She was very scary in it. Very scary, yes.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Every young man really was terrified by Salma Hayek in
- 21:44Speaker 1: that movie. Yep, that's what I hear. Yeah, Salma Hayek
- 21:48Speaker 1: was very scary. She's a sweetheart. I mean, she's the best, dude. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 1: she is. It doesn't get bigger than her. Who else?
- 21:58Speaker 1: In that genre? In the rush more of.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Latina actresses that pop culturally have defined a.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Generation. Horror or a generation? Generation, period. Oh, yeah. What's
- 22:11Speaker 1: the rush more? I would say Salma Hayek. Yeah. I
- 22:15Speaker 1: would toss at you... Rossi Perez. Mm-hmm. Indeed. Right? Who else? Jennifer, obviously.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Jennifer who? Lopez. Oh, sure. She can hang. Jennifer can hang.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And the Rushmore? Yeah. Yeah. I think she's good. Sandra Bullock.
- 22:35Speaker 1: She has dark hair, right? I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Although
- 22:39Speaker 1: Sandra Bullock deserves her own Rushmore, you know, mountain.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I just saw her recently and Practical Magic 2. Oh,
- 22:48Speaker 1: you saw that? I saw it. You went to the
- 22:50Speaker 1: theaters for that? Yeah, because... That's nice. Cholo's in it.
- 22:55Speaker 1: And he... I've known him since he was little. Oh, Cholo, yeah, yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Did you go to the screening? Yeah, I did, yeah. Oh,
- 23:00Speaker 1: that's nice. Yeah, I wasn't invited. Yeah. And I believe
- 23:05Speaker 1: in magic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I believe in ghosts.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Not you. Yeah. I don't know what you went to
- 23:09Speaker 1: the movie, but. No, no. I've known him since he
- 23:12Speaker 1: was in diapers.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So that's, I know his mom really well.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Oh, that's nice. Yeah. I like him a lot. He's
- 23:18Speaker 1: so sweet. Oh, yeah. He's a sweet kid. You're killing it.
- 23:21Speaker 1: He is hosting. He's going to be on, on, whenever
- 23:26Speaker 1: it's a social club for a couple months. The live?
- 23:31Speaker 1: The Broadway play. He just announced he's going to do
- 23:34Speaker 1: his thing on it. Really? Yeah. Oh, wow. Tell you
- 23:37Speaker 1: a fun fact. I was asked to do one. I
- 23:39Speaker 1: couldn't make it. Dude, it's really. But I really. You
- 23:43Speaker 1: mean the live version that's coming here? No, no. The
- 23:46Speaker 1: New York Broadway play is doing a thing where a
- 23:49Speaker 1: few actors, Latino actors are going to come in and
- 23:52Speaker 1: do short runs with the actual cast. Wow, that's so cool.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I saw it. Have you seen it? Yes. It's so
- 23:59Speaker 1: well done. I was privileged, man, to be at the opening. Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Very excited to be there with Luis and Lin-Manuel and
- 24:07Speaker 2: Adriana Bedoz. And I was invited by a great friend
- 24:14Speaker 2: of mine, Barbara Broccoli, who was instrumental in helping putting
- 24:19Speaker 2: that together with Lin and his father and John Leguizamo
- 24:23Speaker 2: and everybody. And she told me for months, I can't
- 24:27Speaker 2: wait for you to see it. It's going to be amazing.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And I went there and I was so emotional.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I was so emotional to see the purity of that
- 24:36Speaker 2: sound in a Broadway theater was, oh my God.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I saw it on my anniversary. And very scary.
- 24:42Speaker 1: A lot of jumps on that one. A lot of jumps.
- 24:45Speaker 1: A lot of jumps. Every time the mambo would kick in.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Wait, so Practical Magic, did you love it so much?
- 24:53Speaker 1: It was, I mean, Sandra was the cast, Sandra and Nicole.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I mean, they're just the best. Yeah. and still so
- 25:01Speaker 1: good and so on it. I don't think I'm the
- 25:05Speaker 1: audience for it, but it was very well. No, no.
- 25:12Speaker 1: It was very well executed for that.
- 25:14Speaker 2: It did super well, right? A lot of people were camping.
- 25:19Speaker 2: They were excited to be there. They were wearing the
- 25:21Speaker 2: T-shirts and all that stuff. They were all very excited
- 25:23Speaker 2: to do that.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. There were people dressed as witches there. So cool.
- 25:28Speaker 1: They were into it. They were into it.
- 25:30Speaker 2: It's nice, by the way, I know people have their
- 25:32Speaker 2: opinions about remakes and sequels after like 10, 15 years,
- 25:37Speaker 2: but you know what, man? Sometimes these pop culture movies
- 25:40Speaker 2: that have paved the way for so many genres, when
- 25:43Speaker 2: they come back, it's just like, give us one more
- 25:46Speaker 2: run with the same actors.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Hell yeah. Just play it back real one time, you know?
- 25:50Speaker 1: I don't know. Do you disagree? No, I agree with
- 25:55Speaker 1: you 100%. I don't see anything wrong with As long
- 25:59Speaker 1: as the execution, here's what I have a problem with, right?
- 26:03Speaker 1: I have a problem.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I think that sometimes in the past they've done sequels
- 26:09Speaker 2: and all that stuff, and the execution's not well done, right?
- 26:14Speaker 2: And you can tell that the sequel is being done
- 26:17Speaker 2: as a money grab. But if they put some time
- 26:21Speaker 2: and effort and some quality control in it and the
- 26:24Speaker 2: execution is correct, I'm all for it. And so when
- 26:27Speaker 2: you watch this movie, whether you're the audience or not,
- 26:30Speaker 2: it's well done.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And you walk away from there thinking it's well done.
- 26:34Speaker 2: And then to see them on screen together again and
- 26:37Speaker 2: all that, then it brings a whole other nostalgic aspect
- 26:41Speaker 2: to it.
- 26:41Speaker 1: It's amazing. Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Well, I mean, look, we haven't talked about our consideration
- 26:47Speaker 2: of the existence of Ghost versus, you know.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Will we have a problem?
- 26:55Speaker 2: If you're in the bedroom and you're going to go
- 26:57Speaker 2: all the way to the kitchen to grab a glass
- 27:00Speaker 2: of water, do.
- 27:00Speaker 1: You turn the lights on or you go in pitch darkness?
- 27:04Speaker 2: Oh. I don't mind going through the dark if I
- 27:09Speaker 2: can see a little bit. Really? Do you turn it
- 27:12Speaker 2: on for other reasons? No, I'm okay because I believe
- 27:15Speaker 2: in God.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Oh, man. That's a whole other... Two different levels. I
- 27:22Speaker 1: leave the light off because I believe in God. Right, right, right.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I don't give a shit. That's heavy. Think about that.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Let's break that down for a second.
- 27:36Speaker 2: No, we will not be turning on the light.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Because I believe in God. I believe in God, baby.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I'm going to the kitchen. I'll be right back. Yeah.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I will be right back. Yeah. And I will go
- 27:50Speaker 1: to the kitchen. I will be right back. I will
- 27:51Speaker 1: be right back. I will be right back. Yeah. Because
- 27:55Speaker 1: the hand of God guides me. That's right. Back to
- 27:59Speaker 1: my bedroom. Amen. And you know what I do when
- 28:01Speaker 1: I get back to the bedroom? I look at my
- 28:03Speaker 1: wife and I said, honey. Amen. I'm back. I'm back.
- 28:14Speaker 1: And then you sip that water. And then I'm like, wow,
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm hydrated. I'm ready to go back to sleep. Yeah.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:21Speaker 1: So question. What? Are you okay with it? No. I'm
- 28:31Speaker 1: trying to lead us back into ghosts, but, you know,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I don't know if it's worth it. Yeah, sorry. Kind
- 28:35Speaker 1: of veered off there for a second.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Crazy question. Yeah. You're not sleeping. Okay. You go to
- 28:44Speaker 1: the living room. If I'm not sleeping? Yes. Lights are off.
- 28:49Speaker 1: You sit on the couch. Do you feel funny about it? Yeah, no. No? Why?
- 28:58Speaker 1: No particular reason. I'm just saying, hey, I'm up. Because
- 29:00Speaker 1: you believe in God. Okay. No, just say okay. Just
- 29:05Speaker 1: say okay. Okay, so you're doing like, that's crazy. That's
- 29:09Speaker 1: awesome that you're like, oh, I don't need to turn
- 29:10Speaker 1: on a light. I know what I'm doing. When you go, okay,
- 29:14Speaker 1: how about this? Middle of the night, you got to
- 29:17Speaker 1: go pee.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Right. You go to... You got to go pee. You
- 29:26Speaker 1: got to go pee. Yeah. You go to the bathroom.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Do you turn the light on? Yeah. You do? Unless
- 29:37Speaker 1: I can't. It's interesting. It's interesting. I don't want to
- 29:40Speaker 1: pee all over the toilet. You don't believe? You don't believe?
- 29:45Speaker 1: You don't have faith? You don't have faith? You don't
- 29:48Speaker 1: have faith? It's your lack of faith, man. You know?
- 29:52Speaker 1: It's so dumb. I really hate that I asked that question,
- 29:57Speaker 1: but I really needed to know. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, is
- 30:00Speaker 1: there something else you would like to prop me with or?
- 30:04Speaker 3: No, I was just thinking there's some nights when I'm
- 30:06Speaker 3: working here late and I have to walk from the
- 30:09Speaker 3: office to my car and it's probably the most terrifying walk.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Really? Why is that? Why do you think it happened?
- 30:15Speaker 3: I think because of, uh, the owls you mentioned in
- 30:18Speaker 3: a previous episode, the coyotes may come down the hill.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Oh, coyotes.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Also just like.
- 30:24Speaker 1: It's so dark.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Do you really, you're really that self-centered that you think
- 30:27Speaker 2: the coyotes are going to come down?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And do something. But the coyotes don't attack humans.
- 30:33Speaker 3: No, but just like it's very ominous and it's strangely quiet.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It's very dark. It's very dark.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Even though I know there's a lot of people around,
- 30:41Speaker 3: like in different properties around, it still is very ominous
- 30:44Speaker 3: and dark and like something about that walk.
- 30:48Speaker 1: What do you think is the worst thing that could happen?
- 30:53Speaker 3: I used to be afraid of the dark as a kid.
- 30:54Speaker 3: So I think that's conjuring up maybe.
- 30:57Speaker 1: But you said you used to. You're not anymore? So
- 31:00Speaker 1: you're in your house and you have to pee. And
- 31:04Speaker 1: you go to the bathroom. Leo's pee hat.
- 31:07Speaker 3: My trick is sit down so you don't have to
- 31:10Speaker 3: blind yourself.
- 31:12Speaker 1: So you don't have to aim. So you don't have
- 31:13Speaker 1: to aim. You just sit your ass down.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That's very good.
- 31:15Speaker 1: That's very good. But so, yeah, so do you get
- 31:17Speaker 1: freaked out? Like, what do you think is the worst
- 31:19Speaker 1: thing that could happen? Yeah. You see something that you
- 31:22Speaker 1: don't want to see?
- 31:23Speaker 3: It's irrational. It's not, I don't think anything bad's going
- 31:26Speaker 3: to happen.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Oh, interesting. Because owls don't attack, right? They don't attack.
- 31:28Speaker 1: They do attack. They attack humans? I've heard of that.
- 31:31Speaker 1: You remember the ladder? I didn't know that. The ladder?
- 31:34Speaker 1: Isn't that the show, The Ladder? The staircase. Oh, the staircase.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Remember the staircase? Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Apparently an owl flew down and pushed her down. Then
- 31:44Speaker 2: he's like, was it the push or like? He had
- 31:47Speaker 2: claw marks or something?
- 31:48Speaker 3: Something like it flew in and hit her and she
- 31:51Speaker 3: was spooked by that.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And that's what, you know, catalyzed her falling down the stairs.
- 31:55Speaker 1: It was an alternative theory. That's it.
- 31:57Speaker 2: But I didn't know they attack humans like that.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I didn't know that. What do you think they do?
- 32:04Speaker 1: They poke your eye out? Yeah, look it up. What
- 32:06Speaker 1: kind of omen is that? If an owl pokes.
- 32:10Speaker 2: What does it mean when an owl actually attacks your
- 32:12Speaker 2: head in the middle of the night?
- 32:13Speaker 1: When an owl pokes your eye out. Not metaphorical, like
- 32:16Speaker 1: literal attack. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:18Speaker 3: It's very rare. I'm saying it's an irrational fear, okay, guys?
- 32:22Speaker 1: Oh, no, but I want to... What's the omen?
- 32:24Speaker 3: Oh, an omen of an owl attack?
- 32:26Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know about an omen. It's a great
- 32:28Speaker 1: way to close the episode.
- 32:29Speaker 3: They're protecting their territory, and they may mistake ponytails or
- 32:33Speaker 3: hats for prey.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Oh.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Runners with bouncing ponytails or people wearing fuzzy hats are
- 32:40Speaker 3: sometimes mistaken for squirrels.
- 32:41Speaker 1: But you're not a man bun kind of guy, so
- 32:42Speaker 1: I don't think you need to worry about it. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:45Speaker 1: You're not a man bun guy. If I was a dude.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Wearing a man bun, first of all, I'd be a
- 32:50Speaker 2: different person. But second, if I had a man bun,
- 32:55Speaker 2: I probably deserve an owl.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Thinking that my head was prey. You deserve an owl attack? Yeah,
- 33:02Speaker 1: I would probably deserve it. I'm sorry, let me clarify.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Nothing against man buns, because some guys can really pull
- 33:10Speaker 1: it off. But you just said you would deserve an
- 33:13Speaker 1: owl attack if you had an owl. I mean, you're
- 33:14Speaker 1: asking for it if you have a man bun, right?
- 33:18Speaker 1: Do you get snakes here? In your property? You know,
- 33:23Speaker 1: I don't... Maybe one time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw
- 33:27Speaker 1: a little tiny one, like up in the hill, but... Yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 1: But by the way... Up in these hills, there's a
- 33:35Speaker 1: lot of rattlesnakes. Yeah, yeah. That's what I was going
- 33:38Speaker 1: to ask you.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I was hiking up at Fryman Canyon, and I swear, man,
- 33:43Speaker 2: like on three different occasions, I saw a freaking rattlesnake
- 33:46Speaker 2: just cross the road. People stopped, and they like- With
- 33:50Speaker 2: your electric bike.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you heard him? 100%. Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I've ridden my bike and have had to stop because
- 34:00Speaker 1: a rattlesnake was- Was crossing the path?
- 34:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 1: What is that omen? Let's look up. When a rattlesnake
- 34:05Speaker 1: crosses your... Yeah. I have video. Dude, you cannot tell me.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Do you think you ever had one?
- 34:10Speaker 1: Let me see. Turn it around. What's that? So, on
- 34:14Speaker 1: social media, we're going to post this photo. Let's make
- 34:16Speaker 1: a note of this. Hey, who's that guy? On our
- 34:18Speaker 1: social media, in this clip, we're going to post this photo.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Why'd that come up? Well, because obviously, interview with a vampire.
- 34:25Speaker 3: We're doing research, trying to see if you've ever had
- 34:27Speaker 3: a man bun.
- 34:28Speaker 1: No, it was pretty long there. I think I was
- 34:31Speaker 1: doing Havoc at that time, so I let it grow. Bro,
- 34:34Speaker 1: you look gorgeous. I look like... You're Hottie Patootie. I
- 34:39Speaker 1: look like Chico and the Man. Hottie Patootie. Look at this.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Hottie Patootie. I look like I should have done like
- 34:45Speaker 1: a 70s... Head and shoulders commercial. No, don't, don't, no commercial.
- 34:51Speaker 2: You are the, you are the leading character of an epic.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Of an epic head and shoulders campaign. You know, you
- 34:58Speaker 1: could have been also in The Last Samurai.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:02Speaker 1: You know, with Tom, Tom Cruise. Yeah, yeah, that was
- 35:04Speaker 1: kind of the inspiration behind that. But that, that, that
- 35:07Speaker 1: long hair is gorgeous. You know, what year was that?
- 35:11Speaker 2: Because if I'm correct, you did that hair around the
- 35:14Speaker 2: time where both Tom, Brad and Antonio Banderas had long
- 35:20Speaker 2: hair like that.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Probably. Was that early 90s?
- 35:23Speaker 2: No, that was like mid-2000s, maybe.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Oh, wow. You were hanging on to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Because I had a ponytail in Havoc, I remember. And
- 35:34Speaker 2: they were like, you got to let your hair grow.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Was it Harsh Times, 2005?
- 35:39Speaker 1: No. Yeah, Harsh Times was around that time.
- 35:43Speaker 2: But I let it grow for that movie, for Havoc.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Because I had that. My hair doesn't grow like that.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I just want you to understand that.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Is it like just kind of thicker and wavier? It's thicker,
- 35:52Speaker 1: not wavier.
- 35:53Speaker 2: It just like grows outward and then eventually starts ericistrata-ing back.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Ah, into the, yeah. Yeah. I don't remember seeing you
- 36:03Speaker 1: in a long hair before. Should we remake Chips? Or
- 36:08Speaker 1: do you think that's just like done? Dude, you'd be
- 36:11Speaker 1: incredible in Chips, man. Oh, thanks, man. I appreciate that.
- 36:15Speaker 1: But do you think it's, like, done now? No, I
- 36:19Speaker 1: don't think any of that stuff's ever done. I just think...
- 36:21Speaker 1: But how much time do we have to go by?
- 36:23Speaker 2: I mean, well, it's been a while since that last one, right?
- 36:27Speaker 1: When was that last one? It was, like, a decade ago,
- 36:30Speaker 1: at least. No, probably seven years ago. No, no, that
- 36:33Speaker 1: last one was way longer than that. Like, if you
- 36:37Speaker 1: had another take to it, you know, I think a sillier...
- 36:42Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't really recall the last one.
- 36:45Speaker 1: You would do it? Would you do it? Well, you know,
- 36:47Speaker 1: at one point, I was developing it.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:50Speaker 1: So... You would have been perfect for that. Thank you, man.
- 36:53Speaker 1: But I don't know. Let me think about that. Yeah, chips.
- 36:58Speaker 1: In the future. Chips in the future. In an intergalactic
- 37:02Speaker 1: freeway from here to the moon. Punch. Punch. Okay, um...
- 37:08Speaker 1: You know, I'm glad that we... What was the omen
- 37:12Speaker 1: on the rattlesnake crossing? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Rattlesnake crosses
- 37:18Speaker 1: your path while you're on your e-bike. What does it mean? Yeah.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Especially the e-bike one. Like, how does that tie into
- 37:25Speaker 1: the omen?
- 37:26Speaker 2: And it was mad, too, this particular one when I
- 37:29Speaker 2: was on my bike.
- 37:29Speaker 1: It was recoiled up?
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like crossing, like kissing at me as.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It was crossing. Right here, right by your house, man.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Right on... The mahalan up there.
- 37:40Speaker 3: It generally symbolizes an impending warning, a hidden threat, or
- 37:44Speaker 3: a call to pay attention to personal boundaries.
- 37:47Speaker 1: That's so dumb. Yeah, obviously all those things.
- 37:50Speaker 2: If you see a rattlesnake crossing your road, obviously a warning.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Don't run it over, please.
- 37:59Speaker 3: What would you say it would be?
- 38:01Speaker 1: What would I say the omen would be? I don't know.
- 38:05Speaker 1: That's a very tough one.
- 38:06Speaker 2: To watch out as you're, you know, when you're hiking
- 38:10Speaker 2: up there. Sometimes I see people hike up there and
- 38:12Speaker 2: they're all in the bushes.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I'm like, that's crazy. Yeah, or they bring their dogs. Like,
- 38:17Speaker 1: that's so reckless. Yeah, I would never do that. I
- 38:20Speaker 1: kid you not, man.
- 38:20Speaker 2: This time we were hiking up at Fryman and this big, fat, frickin'
- 38:27Speaker 2: rattlesnake just was crawling.
- 38:29Speaker 1: And this lady, this poor lady was on the other
- 38:32Speaker 1: side and she was like, I can't even look at it. What? Yeah,
- 38:36Speaker 1: she was like, her face was white.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Dude, it's a very scary, the presence. You're talking about,
- 38:43Speaker 2: you're like probably 300 times its size.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 2: And it carries such an energy. A rattlesnake is like,
- 38:56Speaker 2: it's just looking.
- 38:57Speaker 1: At you like, I would ruin your life.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Just one simple nibble from me. I will ruin your life.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Elsie was hiking up in, she's not hiking. She just
- 39:08Speaker 2: kind of went for a, for a jog with a
- 39:11Speaker 2: friend over on Serenia, Serenia park, which isn't far from here.
- 39:15Speaker 2: And she said that there was a mountain lion at
- 39:17Speaker 2: the top and it was watching everybody jog below.
- 39:21Speaker 1: And it was like a dog waiting for a dog. Yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 2: We're looking at the doggies, little tiny dogs. That's why
- 39:27Speaker 2: I asked you if you get any of the, any
- 39:29Speaker 2: of the, wildlife here yeah no we see packs of
- 39:32Speaker 2: coyotes we see raccoons we see possums we see squirrels
- 39:36Speaker 2: we see bunnies we see mice we see rats um No,
- 39:43Speaker 2: no dudes in men buns. No. Do they ever attack
- 39:48Speaker 2: your dog? Because your dog kind of roams the property. No,
- 39:51Speaker 2: because I think they don't want to attack anything in
- 39:53Speaker 2: their own size.
- 39:54Speaker 1: That's kind of the rule of thumb. They always go
- 39:56Speaker 1: after something smaller than them. And my dog is like
- 39:59Speaker 1: 110 pounds. Yeah. It's still scary though. You know, it's like.
- 40:03Speaker 1: But if like a coyote could probably overpower your dog, right? No.
- 40:10Speaker 1: They could outrun it. Right. Yeah. Overpower? I don't know.
- 40:15Speaker 1: That's a good question. Two of them could. Yeah.
- 40:20Speaker 2: But my dog is a trained guard dog, so he
- 40:23Speaker 2: would bite. But it's just, if he's getting jumped into
- 40:28Speaker 2: the gang, like.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Hey, you want to.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Hear something hilarious? The other day I was leaving your house,
- 40:33Speaker 2: and I was going down your driveway, and your dog
- 40:36Speaker 2: was there, and he was taking a dump. And he
- 40:39Speaker 2: was just, and he was staring straight at me as
- 40:42Speaker 2: I was leaving. So I was leaving your property and
- 40:50Speaker 2: I was like, oh, there goes Wilmer's dog. And I'm
- 40:51Speaker 2: looking at him and he just made eye contact with
- 40:54Speaker 2: me as I was leaving your property.
- 40:56Speaker 1: What is that moment? And he was taking a dump.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Can you look up that omen, please? At the same time.
- 41:01Speaker 1: What does that omen mean? What does that omen mean?
- 41:03Speaker 2: When you're driving by a dog while he's pushing one
- 41:06Speaker 2: out and he's staring right into your soul, what does
- 41:09Speaker 2: it mean?
- 41:10Speaker 1: What is that omen? Yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 2: He was probably not happy that I was.
- 41:16Speaker 1: He was telling you something. He was like, stop watching.
- 41:19Speaker 2: He wasn't using words, but he wanted you to know something.
- 41:23Speaker 1: What does that omen mean?
- 41:24Speaker 3: Well, thanks to AI, I have an answer. That intense,
- 41:29Speaker 3: awkward eye contact from a dog mid-bathroom break is an
- 41:31Speaker 3: unforgettable experience. While it feels like they are staring directly
- 41:35Speaker 3: into your soul, it is actually a deeply wired survival instinct.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Here's why they look at you while they poop. Vulnerability,
- 41:45Speaker 3: looking for a watchman, seeking approval. So instead of a
- 41:49Speaker 3: curse or omen, the stare is actually a sign of
- 41:51Speaker 3: ultimate vulnerability, an instinctual request for a lookout.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Did you approve? I guess.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I just found it hilarious that he- Did you approve
- 42:01Speaker 2: of his effort?
- 42:02Speaker 1: He followed me all the way out of your property.
- 42:05Speaker 2: That's so sweet that my dog has such a connection
- 42:08Speaker 2: with you.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 2: That he felt not only safe, he actually wanted your approval.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Yeah. And he was- He was like, is this all right?
- 42:18Speaker 1: Is this cool? And also, can you watch my back? Yeah, yeah.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Can you watch my back? Well, on that note- He
- 42:24Speaker 1: brought me his toy today, too, which is a good sign.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I'm actually honored that you guys have that connection. Well,
- 42:32Speaker 1: this is Wilmer Valderrama. Oh, yeah. Hey, this is Freddy Rodriguez.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Thank you for listening or watching Dos Amigos. Anywhere you
- 42:40Speaker 1: get your podcasts, please tell a friend that we're here
- 42:43Speaker 1: for them, too.
