- 0:06SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: Do high school girlfriends talk every day?
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: I would think so.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: I would think so.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: They gotta talk every day.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: What's going on?
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: You know, what's the what's tea?
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Stuff like that.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: What the what you don't know what the what tea means?
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: What the tea?
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, tea is gossip.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: You don't know about that?
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: No.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: No.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: You're not really that hip.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: I'm not.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: I'm not hip at all.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Well, you are having the podcast makes you a little bit more hip.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Or the planning of a podcast.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'd I'd rather be hip H E P.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, nobody knows what that is.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: It's like old school hip.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: It's like being a they used to call them being a hip cat.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: HEP cat.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like a cool dude.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: We went to uh Natural Bridge State Park where there's a big rock formation in the shape of a bridge above your head.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: And uh there was a sign up and it said, What's the limestone's favorite kind of music?
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Is it a joke?
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Classic rock.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's that's a funny joke.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, isn't that good?
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: I like that joke.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're sharing that today.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Well, good.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Here here's here's the here's the best news though.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: This is like this is like one of the top things that's ever happened to me in my life.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: It just happened last night, and I'm gonna tell it to you.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: And the world.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: Well, and the universe, because it goes into space.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: So this this I'm I'm documenting this for for all time, for for history forever.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: You're recommitting your vows to your lovely wife.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: No.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: No, but it it it is about my wife, because last night, I don't know, are you sitting down?
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Because it's it's like that.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Last night we were playing probably our hundredth game of Scrabble.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: And I have lost a hundred percent of the time.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: I have never won at Scrabble with my wife, ever.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: But you've been pro but you've been studying.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: I've been studying.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: And for me, I always say to her, the only thing I care is that I give her a good run for her m you know, like I give her a good uh competition.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: A good game.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: A good game.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: So there's some pressure.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: And so for me, if I lose by less than 50, I feel like I won.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Like that's a win for me.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: If I lose by 20, I'm I'm like high five in it, right?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: Last night I won.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Fair and square?
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: By fair and square by over a hundred points.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Did you challenge anything she did?
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: No, we're pretty loose about that.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: We don't do that kind of stuff.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: We're pretty loose about it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: But so she puts down a word that you don't think's a word, you just let her have it.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: Well, there's there's all kinds of subtlety to that.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: You know, um, but but ultimately, based on the way we play, I beat her fair and square.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: And did you get some really good word or something?
- 3:44unknown: No.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: You remember your best word?
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: I was just I was consistently consistently good.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: I was consistent.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: I made sure I never, because I usually open up a triple word and then she put something down that's like 300 points, and I'm doomed.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: So I was really good about that.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: I was playing, you know, I mean, I don't know.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Counter-defensively, hypoactively.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was I don't know many big words, so I was just trying to do like a good, you know, five-letter word that's simple in the right.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Got a double word score.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and so at the end of the day, um, and and uh the fun part is she hates losing.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: She hates it.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, she hates it.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Even when she even when you she's beat you every time and then you she loses one time, she's still mad?
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: Still hates it.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I would say mad, but I would say she really doesn't like losing.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Like she would she would dominate so you're playing again today.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: She would dominate the girls at you know, at sorry at at four.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: They're four years old and she would just crush them.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Um gosh, that's awful.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Well, it's not.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: She's like, I'm I'm not gonna, you know, I'm gonna play it for real.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: You know, how are they gonna get me better?
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: So I there's some I I can see it.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Um but well, your kids all turned out great, so you did do something right.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: I guess they did, they turned out great.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: Or at least you want to take some credit when they turn out good, even though you probably can't really take credit because they just end up how they end up, you know.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know about that.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: That's that's probably you want to take half credit?
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: Um, but here's so here's the here's my plan now.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Because we've been playing almost every day.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: I I would say you should plan to beat her every time now.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Well, no, my plan is to never play again.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, there you go.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: It's kind of like when my brother, my my younger brother, got bigger than me and finally was able to beat me in arm wrestling, and I knew that he could, I never arm wrestled him again.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: And it still bugs him to this day.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: To this day.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Come on, really try.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: I'm like, no, you're gonna win.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: And I'm telling him, I like you are obviously gonna win.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: Why do you need to actually do it?
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: He's like, I don't know, I just have to.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: So part of me is like, never play Scrabble again, and then I can still always be the reigning champ.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: I was the reigning, I'll be in the reigning champ, right?
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, that'll really drive her crazy.
- 6:18unknown: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: Well, part of me kind of wants to, though.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I get that.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I get that.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: I'll probably give in and you know, I'll probably well, maybe not.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: I'm going back and forth.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: What would you do?
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: You would probably play because you can you actually Well, I quit playing.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: We quit playing because she beat me so much and I just lost all hope.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: She reads all the time, she knows all these words.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: I say that's not a word, and then I challenge her, and it is a word, but you and then I lose, and then I have like letters like E I E I O, and I'm like, I can't, we're not playing old McDonald How to Farm, and then I I just get I lose, I l I don't I lose so badly that I don't that I feel like I'm not a man, you know?
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: And it's sad because you have a a game that you made yourself, I remember.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I'm and I used to be good at it.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Like I think I I think I brought Scrabble into our relationship.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: Like I was like, oh, look at this cool game.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: We played all the time when I was a kid, and everybody likes it, and I'm pretty good at it.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: And and not to say I'm not bad, I mean I'm not really that bad at it.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: It's just that she's so much better than me.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Like if I play normal people, yeah, right, I can win.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Because I understand the double word thing, I understand the triple letter, triple word, I understand all the how to do it.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you don't always get the letters that that you don't always get the right letters, and then you have to know a lot of words.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: I don't read as much as she does.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: She reads all the time, she knows words, she's not even good at spelling.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Anyway, it's hard when you lose so much and you want to be a man.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Do you know how what it feels like to want to be a man?
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: You know, and then we
