Latest / Elon Musk Podcast / Elon Musk's SpaceX Value at Over $150 Billion
Transcript
- 0:00SpaceX is always trying to raise money and in this current
- 0:05climate of huge rocket launches, like the Starship and also the
- 0:10Falcon heavy and the current Falcon 9 SpaceX is, and talks to
- 0:14raise a funding round the values.
- 0:17The rocket launch company about 150 billion dollars and this is
- 0:22a jump up from the 125 billion dollar valuation from earlier
- 0:27this year Elon and SpaceX. Need to continue raising money
- 0:32because the Starship program is such a huge leap.
- 0:35Forward in rocketry human, spaceflight will rely on the
- 0:39Starship missions for the hls. NASA missions to the moon for
- 0:44Artemis 3, and SpaceX is kind of in a crunch time right now.
- 0:48They only have a few years to get this, right?
- 0:51And currently down at Boca Chica, Texas.
- 0:53They're testing Starship, they just did a massive 14 engine.
- 1:00Big fire of the Rocket yesterday and the next static fire that's
- 1:04coming up is probably going to be a 21 engine, static fire.
- 1:08And then after that, the full 33 engines will fire and it's going
- 1:12to be the most powerful rocket that humankind has ever built.
- 1:19So what they need to do with this rocket, is they need to
- 1:22make it human capable because people will be going from the
- 1:27rocket to the surface of the Moon.
- 1:29Now, the not going to launch on the rocket.
- 1:31And that's a weird thing that's happening right now is that
- 1:34they're building a system where the, the booster is static
- 1:38firing, which needs to send the Starship into space, in the
- 1:42Starship will have to dock with the Orion capsule in the orbit
- 1:47of the moon. And then from the Orion capsule,
- 1:49the people get out of the Orion capsule.
- 1:52Get into the starship and go down to the surface of the Moon.
- 1:54So basically they need this money coming in so they can fund
- 1:58this project which is an Seen Lee huge engineering feat.
- 2:04No one's ever done anything like this before.
- 2:07The Starship itself is 125, feet tall.
- 2:10It's about 150 feet. Tall all together the huge
- 2:13booster and the Starship on top of each other 400 feet tall
- 2:17bigger than the SLS rocket. The biggest rocket that's ever
- 2:19been built. They need this cash influx for
- 2:22these systems and also for starlink because they need to
- 2:26build out the starlink version two systems.
- 2:29Yes, that will be in orbit, around Earth, giving relatively
- 2:34lack of, let's just say, a better way to say.
- 2:37This would be people with rare, like barely any internet in
- 2:41rural areas. It's giving them the capability
- 2:44to have high speed internet access.
- 2:46It gaming speeds streaming speeds Etc.
- 2:50So they need the money to build out this infrastructure.
- 2:53They need billions of dollars to do this and people that are
- 2:56coming in to fund it now. They're at a capital or other
- 2:59it. Market cap of 150 billion
- 3:02according to sources close to the funding round.
- 3:06Now, commercial space launch is spacex's thing.
- 3:10The company spends tons of money, sending Palos to orbit
- 3:14for private sector companies for private sector, customers for
- 3:18NASA, and other government agencies, like the Department of
- 3:22Defense and the space force. It also sends bass tips to the
- 3:28International Space Station with a Aeronauts on board.
- 3:31So they do this for NASA. They have contracts with NASA
- 3:34for the upcoming few years up until the launch of the human
- 3:38space. Flight number seven to the
- 3:40International Space Station, and they've already done private,
- 3:44space tourism with civilians in the Dragon capsule.
- 3:49So SpaceX needs the funding to continue building these
- 3:53operations so they can continue these pieces of their business
- 3:58going forward. Falcon 9 rocket, it is a very
- 4:03great rocket. It continues to outperform even
- 4:07what SpaceX thought it was going to be able to do, and they keep
- 4:10adding to it and they build upon it.
- 4:12And right now, it's a very sustainable business model, lots
- 4:15of customers. Like I said, before Department
- 4:17of Defense is a huge one. NASA is a huge one too.
- 4:20This show is brought to you by backblaze, I use back place to
- 4:24back up my podcast, my video files, all of my writing stuff

- 6:28backblaze.com. Mom Ilan.
- 6:32But these private companies, they're going to be coming up in
- 6:34the next decade or two decades of their building out.
- 6:37What's going to be the infrastructure for human
- 6:40spaceflight in the future. So musk lead, the company
- 6:44world's richest, man. He has all of his stock
- 6:47throughout all of his companies, including Tesla SpaceX, boring
- 6:51company, Etc. You know.
- 6:53He said that starlink eventually may go public on its own and
- 6:58that's a huge deal because I've started They can make money just
- 7:01by selling little pieces of Starling stock and they can do
- 7:05that separately than SpaceX. That's a whole, huge Revenue
- 7:09stream for them. That could continue funding the
- 7:12other space operations such as Starship.
- 7:15Falcon 9, Falcon heavy, things like that for the future.
- 7:19So these funding rounds, very important for Starship, very
- 7:23important for Falcon 9, very important for human spaceflight.
- 7:27No matter how you think about it, if you don't want people.
- 7:29Living on Mars. That's fine.
- 7:31They have things that they're doing here on the earth that are
- 7:34helping people here on Earth, if you don't care about people
- 7:37going to the Moon. That's fine too.
- 7:39Because they're sending satellites up to help people
- 7:41here on Earth. And also the satellites that
- 7:43they're doing their emergency satellites in the future.
- 7:46They've partnered with T-Mobile to to bring this kind of
- 7:51connectivity to people in the way out places.
- 7:54Basically, if you're hiking or say, if you're snowmobiling in
- 7:58the desert someplace, You'll have internet connectivity, it
- 8:01least to send an SOS signal. So starting links are going to
- 8:04be helping build that infrastructure out.
- 8:08And they said, you know, they're going to be spending 30 billion
- 8:13dollars to maintain starlink. So, 30 billion dollars.
- 8:17Of course you have to raise money, you have to raise money a
- 8:20little bit at a time and from 125 to 150 billion dollars as a
- 8:25substantial chunk of change, 25 billion dollars and at more than
- 8:29150 billion dollars, right? And SpaceX could beat out B.
- 8:33Dance is the most valuable privately held company, and
- 8:38that's a huge thing, because Tick Tock is a huge Juggernaut
- 8:42in the social media space. And B.
- 8:43Dance is the most valuable held company at this point.
- 8:48So we can see that SpaceX is going to be not just into space
- 8:54at some point but they're going to be branching out into other
- 8:58things in the future, the star. Of course, that's in space but
- 9:01things down here on Earth as well.
- 9:03Like the satellites that people get the star like internet from,
- 9:07they have to spend the money on that they have to build out that
- 9:10system and that's what's going to be happening with all of this
- 9:14money that is putting are being put into this latest round of
- 9:19funds. So SpaceX 150 billion dollar
- 9:22valuation at this point. It's a great time to invest in
- 9:26SpaceX. If you know how to get in there.
- 9:27There's sort of back channels you have to Go through, and you
- 9:30have to have X amount of dollars.
- 9:32See what I did there SpaceX x amount of dollars to get in
- 9:36because you can't just come in with a couple hundred dollars.
- 9:38You have to have a lot of money to invest in this.
- 9:41Unless, you know, you know, some people to know some people, you
- 9:44got to know some people to get in there.
- 9:46So 150 billion looking good for SpaceX and we're hoping for more
- 9:52investments in the future for SpaceX to grow and another Elon
- 9:57Musk company to get bigger. In better as they go and there's
- 10:01been rumors that Gwynne Shotwell has moved down to Texas while
- 10:06Starbase Texas. I should say to head up the
- 10:09Starbase and the Starship program.
- 10:13So there's going to be another episode about that because
- 10:15that's a that's a huge, huge deal for Gwen and also somebody
- 10:21from Tesla is going to be moving over to SpaceX to help out with
- 10:25the Starbase and Starship program which is another Another
- 10:30huge deal because that person was in charge of manufacturing
- 10:33at Tesla. So that's going to be another
- 10:36episode. Make sure to subscribe on
- 10:37whatever platform you're on right now.
- 10:39So you can get the latest and greatest of SpaceX and all Elon
- 10:44Musk news. Thanks for listening, my name is
- 10:46Will Walden and this has been the Elon Musk podcast, take care
