- 1:30Speaker 2: to SCO.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's the story you need to hear to believe. Then
- 1:35Speaker 1: grab your popcorn because there is more. I should say, Hello,
- 1:39Speaker 1: Tony Katz, Hey, how are you? Ninety three WIBC. Good morning.
- 1:45Speaker 1: We've got a special election today in Tennessee. Representative Green
- 1:49Speaker 1: resigning from Congress because there was a private sector opportunity
- 1:52Speaker 1: too good to give up.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And so now you have this race with this very wee.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Democrat, this woman by the name of Afton. I think
- 2:05Speaker 1: you pronounce your last name ben or is it bean
- 2:08Speaker 1: b e h n. I haven't heard her pronounce, so
- 2:10Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Sure which way it goes. She's the one she's running for.
- 2:13Speaker 1: This is Congress representing Nashville and surrounding areas. I hate Nashville,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I hate the bachelorette parties, I hate this.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 2:21Speaker 1: She's the one who tried to storm Governor Mike Lees,
- 2:24Speaker 1: not Mike Le's, Governor Lee's office and got thrown out.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Was there crying. And she's just a true socialist.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Running against a guy by the name of Matt Van Epps,
- 2:39Speaker 1: a Republican who easily won his primary. She squeaked through
- 2:42Speaker 1: the Democratic primary. And yet this is a close race.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Why is it a close race? And is it indeed
- 2:49Speaker 1: a bell Weather Well, certainly if Democrats can pull this off,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and they're gonna feel very, very good, and Republicans should
- 2:56Speaker 1: be concerned going into the midterms. But as we've been
- 2:59Speaker 1: discussing here, Republicans should be concerned going into the midterms regardless.
- 3:05Speaker 1: They're not putting enough time in and they're focused on
- 3:09Speaker 1: things in a in a way that isn't working generally.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Now, somebody foolishly.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Would say, you mean, like redistricting in Indiana. No, I
- 3:19Speaker 1: think you can do more than one thing at a time,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and I favor redistricting in Indiana. And I have felt
- 3:24Speaker 1: that the arguments against Fallen Short. I have not been swayed.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I listen, I listen, But fairness conversations don't mean anything.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And if you want to argue, well, this is bigotry,
- 3:34Speaker 1: yes from the political left, which I will get into.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But there is a this is a very very tight race,
- 3:43Speaker 1: at least from the polling. Now, who knows if the
- 3:45Speaker 1: polling is accurate, But that is something to keep an
- 3:47Speaker 1: eye on today. That special election in Tennessee. I forget
- 3:52Speaker 1: which district. It is not the Tennessee Tennessee seventh. Someone
- 3:58Speaker 1: double check me there, make sure that I'm right on that.
- 4:00Speaker 1: But that is not the popcorn moment. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 4:04Speaker 1: no no. The popcorn moment, well, I could say the
- 4:10Speaker 1: popcorn moment is Dana Perino talking about this exact race.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I've said from the beginning, since mom Donnie was on
- 4:17Speaker 3: the scene, this is coming to a city near you.
- 4:21Speaker 3: This is where the energy is. Whoever is in power
- 4:24Speaker 3: in the White House typically has a hard time in
- 4:26Speaker 3: that first midterm. AOC has figured out, Okay, she's picking people.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Matt Banepps, you could not find a better candidate. Each
- 4:35Speaker 3: checks all that he's amazing American, this patriotic, and he's
- 4:38Speaker 3: willing to serve and yet it's this close. I do
- 4:41Speaker 3: think that he will win, hope, But in fact the
- 4:43Speaker 3: fact that it is close is a warning sign to
- 4:47Speaker 3: Republicans everywhere that this democratic energy from the far left
- 4:51Speaker 3: is not going to stop, and it won't be desk
- 4:53Speaker 3: un necessarily, but you'll have Democrats. Maybe Harold will say
- 4:56Speaker 3: she's not a real Democrat. No, like this is actual
- 5:00Speaker 3: where the party is going. She campaigned with AOC the
- 5:04Speaker 3: weekend before the election. That tells me that they're not
- 5:07Speaker 3: worried about her.
- 5:09Speaker 1: So I would disagree with the idea of energy, but
- 5:12Speaker 1: I would agree with the idea that this is where
- 5:16Speaker 1: the party is.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You know what, I'm going to leave this as the
- 5:18Speaker 2: popcorn moment. I'll get to the other stuff later. Dana's
- 5:22Speaker 2: making an excellent point here.
- 5:25Speaker 1: They are not afraid of embracing the socialists, the communists.
- 5:29Speaker 2: This is who they are.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And it goes back to something we said during the
- 5:34Speaker 1: government shutdown.
- 5:36Speaker 2: People were saying that Schumer is.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Keeping the government shut down because he is afraid of
- 5:40Speaker 1: the base. Jakeem Jeffries is afraid of the base. They
- 5:44Speaker 1: are the base. This is the party it is, and
- 5:54Speaker 1: one has to accept this and then work within that
- 5:58Speaker 1: reality to defeat it and against all of those suburban
- 6:03Speaker 1: wine moms from West bro Clay. That's West Clay, but
- 6:06Speaker 1: it's like Berkeley, So it's West bro Clay who think
- 6:11Speaker 1: that somehow owe that democratic socialism.
- 6:14Speaker 2: No, that's so go.
- 6:15Speaker 1: She cares so much. How much do you hate your
- 6:19Speaker 1: families that you're willing to vote that way? Turns out
- 6:22Speaker 1: a lot
- 6:22Speaker 2: In my view, a lot of work to do for
- 6:26Speaker 2: the midterms, kids, a lot
