  Speaker 2: Their brew? Yeah? I didn't.

  Speaker 3: I actually saw the news break maybe twenty months after

  Speaker 3: it actually happened, and I was convinced it was like

  Speaker 3: one of those troll posts of like, you know, fake

  Speaker 3: rumors or something like that, Like I didn't believe it all.

  Speaker 2: It was Fox Sports that I reported it too.

  Speaker 3: And when I saw him, like nah, that's not us,

  Speaker 3: not real that I started looking around like wait a second,

  Speaker 3: Raffie Devers was actually traded. And then I'm like and

  Speaker 3: for what like and I get massive contract, So that's
• 1:09
  Speaker 3: part of the return is not going to be as strong.

  Speaker 3: And it wasn't a bad return to me wrong, but
• 1:14
  Speaker 3: like when you see a Raffie Devers traded, you're expecting
• 1:17
  Speaker 3: to see like you know, top ten prospects or things
• 1:20
  Speaker 3: like that going. But man, things went south of Boston.

  Speaker 3: Let's let's be frank, like, this was not a baseball move.

  Speaker 3: This was a clubhouse move. And Craig Breslow was making

  Speaker 3: a statement here, uh, for the future of the Red Sox,

  Speaker 3: and they're moving on from Raffy Devers. So I'm surprised,

  Speaker 3: kind of makes some sense. Sorry for Red Sox fans.

  Speaker 1: it's a big one and I don't know, honestly if

  Speaker 1: we're gonna get anything bigger than this at the trade deadline.

  Speaker 1: Extremely consequential too here for both Boston and San Francisco. Devers.

  Speaker 1: Moving to the Giants, who have been trying to get
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: people to take their money between Aaron Judge and Carlos
• 3:07
  Speaker 1: Korea and Shoheyo Tani, finally found somewhere buster posey with
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: this trade to put those dollars. Interestingly enough, this afternoon
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: the Giants, there was a news report that Raffie Devers
• 3:21
  Speaker 1: is open to playing first base in San Francisco. So
• 3:24
  Speaker 1: that just shows how badly things were torched in Boston
• 3:27
  Speaker 1: between him and Breslo, and they even brought in like
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: Big Poppy to try to do some terraforming on just
• 3:34
  Speaker 1: the public relations here for the Red Sox. Let's start
• 3:38
  Speaker 1: with the Raffie Devers kind of giant side of here,
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: and obviously we're gonna look at this through the tilt
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: of both cards and categories here. In terms of the cards,
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: it's been fascinating and read off and Reddit, there's a
• 3:51
  Speaker 1: sell off of all the Raffie Devers and materials that
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: people have, so that market is tanking. But in terms
• 3:58
  Speaker 1: of fantasy value, it's a tough place to hit in
• 4:01
  Speaker 1: San Francisco. But Raffie Devers, since that dreadful start that
• 4:05
  Speaker 1: could have been kind of a fill in for his
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: misspring training time where he was just like striking out
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: every at bat, has been fantastic. Since that point, he's
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: having a career year. He's a top ten bat in
• 4:18
  Speaker 1: the league. These things are hard to come by. So
• 4:21
  Speaker 1: do you think that he has enough power to just
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: kind of keep blasting through everything despite the park in
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: San Francisco.
• 4:28
  Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, he definitely does, like it's his swing
• 4:32
  Speaker 3: plays decently for that ballpark. It's it's definitely a downgrade,
• 4:38
  Speaker 3: don't don't get me wrong. Like that ballpark is going
• 4:40
  Speaker 3: to be harder for him than what he's had to
• 4:42
  Speaker 3: deal with in Boston.
• 4:43
  Speaker 2: Like he can poke those things.

  Speaker 3: Left and right in Boston and make big impacts going
• 4:49
  Speaker 3: down the lines. But you know, he's he's an all
• 4:51
  Speaker 3: fields hitter and a lot of his homers in Boston
• 4:54
  Speaker 3: were center center or left center, right center, and like
• 4:58
  Speaker 3: he was hitting to the the biggest parts of a
• 5:01
  Speaker 3: big ballpark, and I don't think it's going to hit
• 5:04
  Speaker 3: him terribly significantly. I do think that he's going to
• 5:08
  Speaker 3: a lesser lineup, and I think that's gonna be unfortunate
• 5:12
  Speaker 3: for him. I think that's gonnaybe bring the production down slightly.

  Speaker 3: But I also want to play the human element of things,
• 5:18
  Speaker 3: Like he was clearly not happy in Boston, and he
• 5:23
  Speaker 3: you know, and I don't want to try to decide
• 5:26
  Speaker 3: if he was playing like better because of it, Like
• 5:29
  Speaker 3: does Jeffy Devers play better mad than happy? I don't know,
• 5:33
  Speaker 3: But like I I feel like this has to be
• 5:35
  Speaker 3: a weight lifted, Like he's not playing for a contract,
• 5:37
  Speaker 3: or anything. He's he's just kind of like he wanted
• 5:40
  Speaker 3: out and now has he turned a new leaf, and
• 5:43
  Speaker 3: all of a sudden, he's just gonna go bonkers, Like
• 5:45
  Speaker 3: it feels very possible to me. So I'm almost looking
• 5:48
  Speaker 3: as a net zero zero for Raffie Devers. He's probably
• 5:52
  Speaker 3: in my most recent column I had him like top
• 5:54
  Speaker 3: twenty five ish hitter, and that's frankly, that's probably too low.

  Speaker 2: With how he's been hitting. I still had a little
• 6:01
  Speaker 2: early season hangover.

  Speaker 3: In my thoughts for Defors, and so he probably like
• 6:07
  Speaker 3: the top twenty top twenty five is very very condensed

  Speaker 3: right now from a hitter perspective, there are a lot
• 6:13
  Speaker 3: of guys like clamoring for that space and then once
• 6:17
  Speaker 3: you get to the thirties or something like that, all
• 6:19
  Speaker 3: of a.

  Speaker 2: Sudden it becomes like a wild West of what can
• 6:22
  Speaker 2: you do?

  Speaker 3: So, yeah, I'm sitting there retively, even how about you?

  Speaker 3: Do you do you see much different in devers value?

  Speaker 4: Yeah?

  Speaker 1: Maybe a tick down, but I mean it's so superb

  Speaker 1: from what he's been and you got to think that

  Speaker 1: he's going to I mean, he's hitting behind Junko Lee

  Speaker 1: and William Domez right now. With Elliott Ramos hitting behind him,
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: that's almost maybe arguably better than what he had in
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: Boston with when Bregman went down, the lineup around him
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: was not quite that formidable. And you can even see
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: that pie you look at the Boston lineup right now.

  Speaker 1: The new DH now is David Hamilton on roughter resource.

  Speaker 1: So that's a pretty significant drop off for the Red Sox.

  Speaker 1: But yeah, I think I'm pretty in lockstep here with you.

  Speaker 1: That I mean, in the fantasy realm, especially Devers had
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: a tick less value I think than he does at
• 7:17
  Speaker 1: the plate in real life, just because of the lack
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: of speed. But I mean, you're still talking somebody who's
• 7:24
  Speaker 1: going to amazingly return that kind of second third round
• 7:28
  Speaker 1: value that he was drafted at, despite like I had
• 7:31
  Speaker 1: written him off it was so bad at the beginning
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: of April, that I mean, especially when you start cutting
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: that portion out of his overall performance. And just like
• 7:42
  Speaker 1: the concerns with the shoulder injury too, you have to
• 7:45
  Speaker 1: also wonder, like how much of the kind of mercutio
• 7:49
  Speaker 1: like Rafael Dever's news we got to Boston was not
• 7:54
  Speaker 1: correct at the end of the day, considering like they
• 7:57
  Speaker 1: couldn't get this guy to play for st base. He
• 8:01
  Speaker 1: threw what seemed like a bit of a hissy fit
• 8:04
  Speaker 1: when he was asked to move off a third base,
• 8:06
  Speaker 1: but like something's working in San Francisco. He immediately this
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: afternoon said that he would be willing to play first base.
• 8:12
  Speaker 1: Maybe it is that Matt Chapman was there and he
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: wasn't the incumbent kind of like superstar of the team.
• 8:18
  Speaker 1: But you got to think that it's only gonna help
• 8:21
  Speaker 1: Devers's overall kind of mental state, and just it's such
• 8:27
  Speaker 1: a great lineup around him that I think it's gonna
• 8:30
  Speaker 1: the counting stats alone, will I think outweigh the maybe
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: tick down in power that you'll see out of Raffie
• 8:39
  Speaker 1: Dovers in that park, Because even if with that approach
• 8:42
  Speaker 1: he had when he was kind of hitting it towards
• 8:44
  Speaker 1: the monster a bit, it's still gonna work in San Francisco,
• 8:47
  Speaker 1: Like it's just gonna go into the gap for a
• 8:49
  Speaker 1: double or triple.
• 8:50
  Speaker 2: Yeah.

  Speaker 3: And the thing with Devers, like he's actually been become
• 8:54
  Speaker 3: a better hitter this year, despite what he did in
• 8:57
  Speaker 3: early in the season.

  Speaker 2: His walk rate.
• 8:59
  Speaker 3: Is up substantially. In his OVP, It's over four hundred

  Speaker 3: for the first time in his career. Like and it's
• 9:06
  Speaker 3: not like it's not like a little fluky thing. It's
• 9:10
  Speaker 3: very like he's just not chasing bad pitches. Like literally,
• 9:13
  Speaker 3: he's just got a better batting eye than he ever has.

  Speaker 3: And I don't again, I don't know if it's focused concentration,
• 9:19
  Speaker 3: what it is. But he's made a stride here, So
• 9:24
  Speaker 3: you know, just book him. Of the last you know, four years,
• 9:27
  Speaker 3: he's basically been the same guy, a thirty homer, ninety
• 9:30
  Speaker 3: five to one hundred RBI guy ninety runs four steals,
• 9:35
  Speaker 3: you know, two seventy Like lock it in, lock it in.

  Speaker 2: That's what he's gonna be.

  Speaker 3: I don't think there's much different than the same friends
• 9:42
  Speaker 3: gonna do to it.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, And so I mean, I think for all those

  Speaker 1: factors that we're talking about, I mean, he's even a

  Speaker 1: better real life bat. You know, we're talking like Jordan

  Speaker 1: Alvarez David Ortiz type like territory in terms of that
• 9:57
  Speaker 1: DH bat. And so, I I mean I think definitively

  Speaker 1: for me, San Francisco won the trade because of that.

  Speaker 1: You're also looking at this is guy who already has
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: two hundred and fifteen homers and he's halfway through his
• 10:11
  Speaker 1: age twenty eight season, he's gotten outside shot at five
• 10:15
  Speaker 1: hundred homers. And if you kind of look at the
• 10:18
  Speaker 1: progression of who the stars have been in San Francisco history,
• 10:22
  Speaker 1: I mean you can almost make a through line from
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: May's to McCovey to Bonds. I mean, well, Clark is
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: in there, but he never quite reached that pinnacle to
• 10:33
  Speaker 1: Buster Posey And I mean Devs might be the next
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: guy who's kind of like that huge bat for the Giants.
• 10:38
  Speaker 1: What do you think, am I going out too far
• 10:40
  Speaker 1: on a limb to clear the Giants the winner on
• 10:42
  Speaker 1: this trade?
• 10:43
  Speaker 2: No don't. I don't think so.

  Speaker 3: And I think the X factor here is something you
• 10:48
  Speaker 3: said earlier is the Giants have tried and tried and
• 10:50
  Speaker 3: tried to sign a guy like this and they haven't

  Speaker 3: been able to.

  Speaker 2: And frankly, what they gave up for it wasn't that much.

  Speaker 3: Like they got out from Jordan Hicks contract, which was

  Speaker 3: a pretty decent sized contract, is nothing compared to Devers,

  Speaker 3: but like they cleared cleared some money. Harrison, like, I

  Speaker 3: just I don't know if he's ever gonna fully put
• 11:10
  Speaker 3: it together. Tibbs like he's a kind of toolsy guy,

  Speaker 3: but you know, he was a he was a first
• 11:17
  Speaker 3: round pick. But like his projections are like fringy. You
• 11:21
  Speaker 3: gotta hope that he develops more. And I've looked terribly

  Speaker 3: deep into to Bellow to see how he's how he's

  Speaker 3: kind of transformed at this point. But like I'm sitting

  Speaker 3: here going that they didn't because they were shedding the
• 11:36
  Speaker 3: entire salary, which is the right move I think for

  Speaker 3: the Red Sox, Like, if you're doing this, you can't

  Speaker 3: saddle yourself forever with with that. So I think it's

  Speaker 3: a frankly, it's almost a win win scenario here because

  Speaker 3: I think that it got things got both so bad

  Speaker 3: in Boston they had had to move him, which is

  Speaker 3: clear from what took place, but the Giants literally it

  Speaker 3: more or less was like signing a free agent and

  Speaker 3: assigned them to a better deal because they got rid

  Speaker 3: of the contract from Hicks. So I think the Giants

  Speaker 3: are definitely definitely a winner here, and they probably couldn't

  Speaker 3: couldn't be happier with how things lined up. And to

  Speaker 3: your point, like that lineups are looking to lack a
• 12:14
  Speaker 3: lot better than it did just a few days ago.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree, and with the Boston side of

  Speaker 1: this trade. I mean I think people are maybe pooh

  Speaker 1: pooing it a little bit too much because you are

  Speaker 1: looking also at like what these arms could be underneath

  Speaker 1: Craig Breslo and Boston with it's turned into a bit
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: of a pitching factory. I don't think it's coincidental that

  Speaker 1: they sent Harrison to Triple A to maybe possibly work
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: on some things and just kind of try to see
• 12:44
  Speaker 1: what they can get out of them, because I mean,
• 12:46
  Speaker 1: at this point, Boston's gotta sell.

  Speaker 4: I would think you can't be rolling out.

  Speaker 1: They did fix it where David Hamilton's actually at second

  Speaker 1: base now on roster resource, but you still have Christian

  Speaker 1: Campbell who's been struggling pretty mightily in sorry significant role,

  Speaker 1: and you're just you have Carlos Nervaia's hitting clean up,

  Speaker 1: which I've been skipping him in my waiver wire calm

  Speaker 1: because just look at what Carlos Nervas has done against
• 13:13
  Speaker 1: h position player pitching compared to the rest. Like that line,

  Speaker 1: it's a little like mixed up. It's the way that
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: there's still some lines like that. Neeving Marte is one
• 13:22
  Speaker 1: like this Jeff McNeil's like this too. Jeff McNeil is
• 13:25
  Speaker 1: on like hit five homers in the past week, but
• 13:28
  Speaker 1: like four of them were in Colorado, so you gotta

  Speaker 1: be careful with some of these things. He has been

  Speaker 1: fantastic catcher in Narvas, but this is not somebody you

  Speaker 1: can try to make a playoff run with. So I

  Speaker 1: think that they're gonna end up selling Gilito Walker Beler

  Speaker 1: that can find somebody, and then that brings Harrison up
• 13:47
  Speaker 1: at the end of the season when he's maybe got
• 13:50
  Speaker 1: some extra tutelage in Boston. You could see Jordan Hicks

  Speaker 1: maybe in the back end of this bullpen if they
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: sell a world as Chapman, which isn't a bad move.

  Speaker 1: You're also it was a pitching heavy return for the

  Speaker 1: Boston Red Sox on your star player, Like that can't

  Speaker 1: be happening, especially considering James Tibbs, love the guy first

  Speaker 1: you're asking a lot out of him, and I just

  Speaker 1: don't know where Boston goes from here, because like you're

  Speaker 1: the Boston Red Sox, like this is a team that

  Speaker 1: should be going toe to toe with the with the

  Speaker 1: New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

  Speaker 1: They have the fan base to do it. They sell

  Speaker 1: out the games, they have the media attention.

  Speaker 4: What are they doing?

  Speaker 3: Yeah, it's I mean, like I said, I think things

  Speaker 3: got bad enough that they had to they had.

  Speaker 3: And so now it's you know, you're you're really looking

  Speaker 3: out the kind of next year, and they've got they've

  Speaker 3: got a lot of money coming off the books next year,

  Speaker 3: and so their position to make a move if you

  Speaker 3: assume that they're not gonna pick up like the twenty

  Speaker 3: five million dollar option on Bueler and the nineteen on

  Speaker 3: gi Alito and the twelve on Hendrix, like these are

  Speaker 3: some pretty pretty obvious things that you're not gonna gonna do,

  Speaker 3: you know, and then they're gonna lose, have Chapman go

  Speaker 3: free agent. Their payrolls one seventy four, that's like one

  Speaker 3: hundred million less than it was a few days ago

  Speaker 2: And so they.

  Speaker 3: Are absolutely and with they do have i'd say half

  Speaker 3: of a really good base lineup and half a good

  Speaker 3: really based rotation from a youth perspective, with you know,

  Speaker 3: you talk about Campbell Meyer, this Roman Anthony, guys decent.

  Speaker 3: You still got von Grissom down there. You've got Blaze

  Speaker 3: Jordans that I might be able to come up and

  Speaker 3: do some things. On the pitching side, you got Crochet

  Speaker 3: Bellow like, you got pieces to build around. And if

  Speaker 3: you've got one hundred million to go, spend like you

  Speaker 3: could probably bring two, three, even four guys depending on

  Speaker 3: how you're spending, that actually could make a big impact.

  Speaker 3: So adding a two and a three starter, adding a

  Speaker 3: solid catcher is probably something they absolutely need to do.

  Speaker 3: And then just any bat because you can move guys

  Speaker 3: around and then man, they actually could look pretty good.

  Speaker 3: So I'm actually I'm not too down on this, but

  Speaker 3: I think you're right, Like, if they're not sellers, they're

  Speaker 3: missing a missing the boat here, and I don't think

  Speaker 3: they're gonna want to commit to that just because they

  Speaker 3: are the the Red Sox and they're over five hundred,

  Speaker 3: so it's like you're not out of it. And this,

  Speaker 1: free and see this offseason. I mean, you have Kyle Tucker,

  Speaker 1: after seeing how Bett's Bogart's endeavors have been shuttled out

  Speaker 1: of town in Boston. Then otherwise Pete Alonto, it's kind

  Speaker 1: of like it's it's a it's gonna be tough sledding

  Speaker 1: and you're putting a lot of pressure I think on

  Speaker 1: Roman Anthony and Marcel Meyer and in Christian Campbell there
