- 0:00Chris Jones: It's been a while since we just sat down and chatted.
- 0:02Chris Jones: I think we're long overdue, so let's make this happen.
- 0:06Chris Jones: Let's chat.
- 0:07Chris Jones: Welcome.
- 0:08Chris Jones: I'm Chris Jones, and this is Spiritual Hot Sauce.
- 0:15Chris Jones: I've been saying that now for more than a year.
- 0:18Chris Jones: I'm pretty proud of that.
- 0:20Chris Jones: And for those of you who have been following, you know that I work very hard to balance critical thinking with faith.
- 0:27Chris Jones: Because I believe faith without critical thinking is just superstition, and critical thinking without faith is nihilism.
- 0:36Chris Jones: It's in that balance of those two things, is the heart of spiritual hot sauce.
- 0:41Chris Jones: Now, for those of you who may be new to the show, I take three different approaches in order to try and achieve that balance.
- 0:48Chris Jones: The first thing is the deep end series, where we dive into the deep end of things and spiritual philosophy in order to try to find a practical takeaway that we can apply in our lives.
- 1:00Chris Jones: And then I'll turn around and do Scars That Speak series, where we get into emotional trauma and how people find hope, where there should be no hope.
- 1:09Chris Jones: And in between all of that, I do these solo episodes where I offer my own insights.
- 1:16Chris Jones: So it just started to feel like I was taking everybody all over the place.
- 1:21Chris Jones: And everybody may want me to just settle down and focus on one thing.
- 1:24Chris Jones: And I was considering dropping the Deep in series and focusing on just scars that speak in practical application.
- 1:32Chris Jones: Now I'm just going to be open and honest so you can be a part of why I'm staying the course.
- 1:38Chris Jones: I reached out to a friend of mine, Colin Connor.
- 1:40Chris Jones: A lot of you know him as the host from the podcast, The Bible Uncut and Unfiltered.
- 1:45Chris Jones: Good stuff.
- 1:46Chris Jones: Now, Colin's very familiar with the show, and I very much appreciate that.
- 1:50Chris Jones: He's a regular listener.
- 1:51Chris Jones: Thank you, Colin.
- 1:52Chris Jones: And I got to tell you, if you haven't heard him on as a guest because he came on the show, it's a stellar conversation.
- 1:59Chris Jones: And at the end, he synthesizes my own metaphor of the compass.
- 2:04Chris Jones: And man, he did a fantastic job.
- 2:06Chris Jones: It's worth going and listening to.
- 2:08Chris Jones: Now I told him that I was considering not doing the deep end series anymore and just staying to the practical part of it.
- 2:15Chris Jones: Now, Colin took a pretty strong stance and he asked me to reconsider because he felt like what I was doing was important, that it was something that was needed.
- 2:25Chris Jones: So I think maybe what he was trying to say is that spiritual hot sauce is creating a very unique space.
- 2:32Chris Jones: I appreciate the fact that Colin finds value in the show and what I do.
- 2:37Chris Jones: And I hope that you find value in what I do.
- 2:40Chris Jones: I appreciate you hanging out with me as we explore these different ideas because I know how different spiritual hot sauce is.
- 2:48Chris Jones: We're very unique.
- 2:50Chris Jones: And when I say we, I mean you and me.
- 2:52Chris Jones: Now you've probably noticed I don't run ads, I don't have a Patreon account, I'm not asking for donations, and I'm absolutely not corporately sponsored.
- 3:01Chris Jones: I'm as grassroots as they come.
- 3:03Chris Jones: I do my own editing, my own promotion, or lack thereof.
- 3:07Chris Jones: I do everything.
- 3:08Chris Jones: But I am asking for your support and your help.
- 3:11Chris Jones: And how you can do that is however you hang out with me here on The Sauce, whether it be Spotify, Apple Podcasts, whatever it is, follow, subscribe, and tell other people to come hang out with us and share it on social media, whatever platform you like being on.
- 3:27Chris Jones: But when you do, make sure you hashtag it on the sauce.
- 3:32Chris Jones: That way we know who we are.
- 3:33Chris Jones: But above all, when you have the opportunity, throw the rock.
- 3:38Chris Jones: And if you don't know what that means, go listen to episode 48.
- 3:42Chris Jones: And it's been a while.
- 3:43Chris Jones: It'll taste a little for you.
- 3:45Chris Jones: Appreciate you.
