- 1:23Speaker 3: You're very welcome in focus to this podcast this week
- 1:26Speaker 3: as the NFL season finally got underway Week one in
- 1:30Speaker 3: the books of the Pittsburgh Staters. At the time of recording,
- 1:33Speaker 3: just under twenty days to go until the Pittsburgh Staters
- 1:36Speaker 3: take to the field at the hollow turf of Croke
- 1:39Speaker 3: Park Stadium against the Minnesota Vikings. We've got two more
- 1:42Speaker 3: games to go before that before we even talk about that.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Delightedly welcoming the guy that was on the podcast last year,
- 1:47Speaker 3: A man does not live too far for myself, Davog.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Mickey Davig, you're very very welcome back into the podcast.
- 1:53Speaker 3: How are you doing, sir? What's the crack?
- 1:55Speaker 4: I'm doing well well, Mack. That's in January. It's think
- 1:58Speaker 4: since the last appear here and then you know yourself
- 2:01Speaker 4: having jumping on a bit to get back and so
- 2:04Speaker 4: getting the watch of Steelers in Sunday. It's a great final.
- 2:07Speaker 4: And then yeah, I'm absolutely buzzing off. Of course we've got
- 2:10Speaker 4: a game here to look forward to a couple of
- 2:11Speaker 4: weeks time, and I can't wait.
- 2:14Speaker 3: You know, we will talk about It's funny. You obviously
- 2:17Speaker 3: haven't been in the podcast since this was announced many
- 2:20Speaker 3: months ago, so I'd love to get your opinion and
- 2:23Speaker 3: your thoughts on this game coming to Dublin in a
- 2:26Speaker 3: little bit. But we have to talk just firstly in
- 2:28Speaker 3: regards to the immediate news that people will be listening
- 2:30Speaker 3: to and what they want to hear. And you know,
- 2:32Speaker 3: it was funny, Dalvug we were sort of chatting between
- 2:34Speaker 3: the game last night. Let's cut the crap here. This
- 2:38Speaker 3: was a game I wouldn't say I was concerned going into,
- 2:42Speaker 3: but very very early on we could see this was
- 2:44Speaker 3: a revamp Jets team and obviously justin Fields alongside Arn
- 2:48Speaker 3: Rodgers had a lot to play for Davog, but we
- 2:52Speaker 3: knew ourselves from the way that this game was going.
- 2:56Speaker 3: It was very very end and I guess for neutral
- 2:59Speaker 3: they must have really enjoyed it. For a start, Yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 3: the Nicktrows would have loved it.
- 3:04Speaker 4: But I'll tell you one thing, and I certainly wouldn't
- 3:06Speaker 4: enjoy it. Harper through the fourth quarter, let me tell you,
- 3:09Speaker 4: and was absolutely tops and Turby. You know, one of
- 3:12Speaker 4: the best one pm games windows if you're like six pm,
- 3:15Speaker 4: if you're talking our time. But it is exactly you know,
- 3:18Speaker 4: Steeer football is absolutely final. So it's exactly just obviously
- 3:22Speaker 4: on that. It's one exactly why the Steelers brought in
- 3:24Speaker 4: Aran Rodgers. You know, for all the questions in the
- 3:26Speaker 4: offseason about his age, his health and whether he could,
- 3:29Speaker 4: you know, make these rules, he answered absolutely all of them.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Four touchdowns, no turnovers and not Calmus under the pressure
- 3:35Speaker 4: in the fourth quarter. That's that's leadership. We can't put
- 3:37Speaker 4: the price on you. And we spoke about DKM BACKA
- 3:40Speaker 4: had a fairly decent debut called three yards. Calvin Austin
- 3:43Speaker 4: Humory believe this year has to stop up strapped up
- 3:46Speaker 4: massibly in my opinion, you know you're act of Frimouth
- 3:48Speaker 4: Johnie Smith making his debut. Both contrabrated massibly in their
- 3:51Speaker 4: own ways. And you know, if the chemistry keeps building
- 3:53Speaker 4: between Rogers and this receiving ring this year. It could
- 3:56Speaker 4: be one of the more Steelers danger of Steelers offenses
- 3:59Speaker 4: we're seen in. So the only thing I would say
- 4:01Speaker 4: is MC the wrong game, without doubt, was missing only
- 4:04Speaker 4: fifty three yards on the ground, but that amazed to improve.
- 4:06Speaker 4: I love Jill Morren, you know yourself, but there is
- 4:09Speaker 4: a question more for that he can algate that NAX level.
- 4:11Speaker 4: These are questions. I Hopeully He's going to be a
- 4:13Speaker 4: lost record of the season. So I'm really happy obviously
- 4:15Speaker 4: with how the game went. I finished. Sorry, I haven't
- 4:18Speaker 4: lost stuff to improve on, both offensively and defensive. Later,
- 4:20Speaker 4: we'll sure you.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Thirty four to thirty two win on the day in
- 4:25Speaker 3: matt Live Stadium, and anytime you go on the road
- 4:27Speaker 3: in the league, you never are granted a win. You
- 4:29Speaker 3: have to earn it. And I fully agree with what
- 4:31Speaker 3: you were saying in regards to this we went into
- 4:34Speaker 3: the season. It's funny the CBS crew yesterday a Vogue
- 4:37Speaker 3: interviewed J. J. Watt, who was making his debut on CBS,
- 4:40Speaker 3: and he made it very very clear obviously he's related
- 4:42Speaker 3: to TJ. He said one thing well, we haven't seen
- 4:45Speaker 3: this offense in the off season at all. We're clearly
- 4:48Speaker 3: going into the unknown, and I really feel like what
- 4:50Speaker 3: we've seen on the day in terms of not just
- 4:54Speaker 3: you know, what Rogers could do, but the way that
- 4:56Speaker 3: he'd done it for me was really refreshing and sort
- 5:00Speaker 3: of sort of just in terms of what you said,
- 5:02Speaker 3: there's so many people out there going on when he's
- 5:04Speaker 3: at stage, and he's at stage. I know he's at age.
- 5:07Speaker 3: You know, we're all not getting any younger ourselves, lads.
- 5:09Speaker 3: You know he's coming like he's obviously in his forties. Look,
- 5:14Speaker 3: he knows what, he knows what it takes to win.
- 5:16Speaker 3: He has been at some of the most legendary franchises
- 5:18Speaker 3: in this game, obviously the most legendary franchise now with
- 5:22Speaker 3: the Pittsburgh Steelers. I was really really impressed with a debut.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I mean, as you said, to go out and get
- 5:27Speaker 3: four touch times, but certainly for me completion wise as well.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Twenty two to thirty on the day, davug two hundred
- 5:32Speaker 3: and forty four yards. I guess now we're going to
- 5:35Speaker 3: look at the team and we'll talk about this in
- 5:36Speaker 3: the podcast later on this week. When we're going up
- 5:38Speaker 3: against the Seahawks in Week two. We want to see
- 5:41Speaker 3: this team continue to gel. But it was funny. I
- 5:43Speaker 3: was talking to our friend who's been on this podcast
- 5:45Speaker 3: a couple of times, Jeff Ryan Bold or Aeron Davug
- 5:47Speaker 3: and we're talking a bit about not a bit Aaron
- 5:50Speaker 3: Rodgers comments postgame, we'd ignore that, but more so the
- 5:53Speaker 3: way he walked out of the stadium. That duo or
- 5:56Speaker 3: that set of Cam Howard, Mike Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers,
- 6:01Speaker 3: it was almost like a final boss moment to see
- 6:04Speaker 3: those guys walk out soak that energy in, and it
- 6:06Speaker 3: really felt like a new era for this team. I
- 6:08Speaker 3: guess just first off on that, you know, obviously great
- 6:10Speaker 3: to have camback is something that we haven't spoke a
- 6:12Speaker 3: lot about this summer as we're waiting for obviously stuff
- 6:15Speaker 3: to get done. Good to have calmback. I'm presuming you're
- 6:18Speaker 3: a hobby mom with that news.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Absolutely, just obviously on that. What you mentioned there about
- 6:24Speaker 4: Rogers walking out of the stadium, I've seen him a
- 6:26Speaker 4: couple a few years to get whatever the Jets fat
- 6:29Speaker 4: we're shouting on him, but yeah, not threeer of Tomlin,
- 6:32Speaker 4: Rogers and Hayward. Three absolute legends of the game, Hayward
- 6:35Speaker 4: and obviously Tomlin Steelers' legends, but hopefully Aran Rodgers can
- 6:38Speaker 4: can cement himself. They're not a three yo as well.
- 6:40Speaker 4: So just as you've mentioned there, it was really you
- 6:43Speaker 4: mentioned about a completion percentage. It was vintage Arn Rodgers,
- 6:46Speaker 4: you know, his games his day sorry in Green Bay.
- 6:49Speaker 4: He was notably never forcing the ball, never turning the
- 6:52Speaker 4: ball over. His completion rate was just up there. So
- 6:55Speaker 4: of course the legs aren't what they used to be.
- 6:57Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, you know, you
- 6:59Speaker 4: know yourself back to quarter Ublysien, there's more than intangible,
- 7:01Speaker 4: but in anyway, it's more about the mental prospect of it.
- 7:04Speaker 4: So I was really happy with what I've seen for
- 7:07Speaker 4: a fort year one year old to go in against
- 7:09Speaker 4: his former team, the team that's just let him go,
- 7:11Speaker 4: that believed that he wasn't good enough to go in
- 7:13Speaker 4: and win against you know, Arn Gleno. The own history
- 7:15Speaker 4: is there. Obviously, he spoke about it in Todd McAfee
- 7:17Speaker 4: during the summer, So very impressed with how he dealt
- 7:21Speaker 4: with it, and ultimately it's really about knocking that one down.
- 7:24Speaker 4: You know, we mentioned there. The performance wasn't great. Well,
- 7:26Speaker 4: it wasn't perfect. It was it was decent, but it
- 7:28Speaker 4: wasn't perfect. But the main thing is we want to know.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I mean, you can't fait that in my opinion, so offansively,
- 7:35Speaker 4: you know, still things work on, you know, the run game. Defensively,
- 7:38Speaker 4: I'm gonna be real. You know, it was ugly at times.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Breese Hall causes all sorts of problems just to FEUs
- 7:43Speaker 4: kept making play with his legs. But we know we
- 7:45Speaker 4: can do from the experience last year. I was actually
- 7:47Speaker 4: really impressed Mac. I've done Avi, but I was really
- 7:49Speaker 4: impressed with how he threw the football yesterday, which something
- 7:52Speaker 4: thought he lacked last year massively. So he's someone that
- 7:54Speaker 4: I'm definitely written for going forward. But the Jets put
- 7:57Speaker 4: up thirty two points. That's something coach he is absolutely
- 7:59Speaker 4: gonna have to say this week and not being said
- 8:02Speaker 4: as well. Gilan Ramsey mears presence felt at the end there,
- 8:05Speaker 4: this group came up big when they had their fourth
- 8:07Speaker 4: nd gifts that.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Was that was a huge play. That's you know, to
- 8:12Speaker 3: think where that game was at that moment and when
- 8:15Speaker 3: you knew that certain things could happen, certain things could
- 8:18Speaker 3: not happen. And the way in which Ramsey just took
- 8:21Speaker 3: through that moment. You talk about making these offseason editions,
- 8:24Speaker 3: you talk about trying to really line up players weekend
- 8:27Speaker 3: week out to try and get your team better each week.
- 8:30Speaker 3: What an upgrade. What a guy to bring in and
- 8:33Speaker 3: he shows it in the first moment in a day
- 8:35Speaker 3: where many people were talking about Mika Parsons rightfully so
- 8:38Speaker 3: in Green Bay making his debut and the impact that
- 8:41Speaker 3: he can make in big moments. Well, I look at
- 8:42Speaker 3: gil and Ramsey Australian and I thought, there's a guy
- 8:45Speaker 3: you can rely on. You could hear the food from Ireland,
- 8:49Speaker 3: couldn't it?
- 8:50Speaker 4: You could? And this is exactly why we pay him
- 8:53Speaker 4: the big books over the past ten years. It's harder
- 8:56Speaker 4: to find a better corner than him. You can play
- 8:58Speaker 4: absolutely anywhere in the secondary, whether it's obviously if he
- 9:01Speaker 4: can play across the line, and that's one of the
- 9:03Speaker 4: reasons why we brought him in. And as you've just
- 9:05Speaker 4: mentioned there, he proved that at the end with that
- 9:07Speaker 4: big play on guard Wilson, that hit and it was
- 9:09Speaker 4: one of those modern head sticks that you've seen and
- 9:12Speaker 4: so once again you know as well as that. You know,
- 9:15Speaker 4: the Kennethy team will fumble return on the on the punts,
- 9:18Speaker 4: they're going to be fumble recovery absolutely massive, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 4: probably the turn in the game. And I have to
- 9:24Speaker 4: be honest, you know the fact that our past ruff
- 9:26Speaker 4: wasn't up to the standard that we're used to. It's
- 9:28Speaker 4: going to be getting very scary for opponents going forward.
- 9:31Speaker 4: And there is obviously you know that Calviot as well.
- 9:34Speaker 4: We can't go on and imagining the whether the balls
- 9:36Speaker 4: what they say, Michael, I mean career all sixty order
- 9:38Speaker 4: to win it whole blooded. How many times we have
- 9:40Speaker 4: seen it, you know, particularly last year far away the
- 9:43Speaker 4: best kicker in the league has to offer and it's
- 9:45Speaker 4: just absolutely the money every time. So overall, and didn't
- 9:48Speaker 4: play a perfect game, but we played a resilient one.
- 9:50Speaker 4: And then the NFL, especially on the road in Week
- 9:52Speaker 4: one against the Toll the team like the Jets, it's
- 9:54Speaker 4: about finding way to win. Rogers playing against the team
- 9:57Speaker 4: as I've mentioned that I thought wasn't good enough. So
- 9:59Speaker 4: if this is this, Arden pointed his twenty twenty fifth season,
- 10:01Speaker 4: I think Steter Nation should be very excited because of
- 10:03Speaker 4: course there's what to do, especially all these tense but
- 10:05Speaker 4: set love this team is very high in my opinion,
- 10:08Speaker 4: all the album.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And if you had Ben Scornach on your any time
- 10:12Speaker 3: touched time, that's yesterday, well done, very very well done
- 10:16Speaker 3: to you if you had thought it's look obviously a
- 10:18Speaker 3: good mood to start the season. Always good to win
- 10:20Speaker 3: a game. Two more games to Dublin, Dogg. I want
- 10:22Speaker 3: to ask you about you know, your faults in Dublin
- 10:24Speaker 3: whenever we come back. Just in the meantime, we're going
- 10:27Speaker 3: to hear from coach thom and also Aaron Rodgers after
- 10:29Speaker 3: the big winning Matt Life Stadium here on the Irish
- 10:31Speaker 3: Theaters podcast presented by Erlingus.
- 10:36Speaker 5: Man, Wow, that was fun and challenging at the same time. Man,
- 10:39Speaker 5: the NFL season is back. Sixty minutes of football.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Man.
- 10:43Speaker 5: I tip my cap to the New York Jets. Man.
- 10:46Speaker 5: They were worthy opponent. Man.
- 10:47Speaker 6: They fought.
- 10:48Speaker 5: They really put us up against It challenges us in
- 10:50Speaker 5: a lot of ways. It's unknown sometimes when you're playing
- 10:54Speaker 5: a new staff. Man. I thought that were exposed in
- 10:56Speaker 5: some of those spaces at times. But I thought the
- 10:59Speaker 5: coaches did a real good job of communication. The players
- 11:01Speaker 5: did a real good job of communicating and adjusting. We
- 11:05Speaker 5: made about one or two more plays than they did,
- 11:07Speaker 5: and sometimes these games are decided by that. I'm excited
- 11:12Speaker 5: about the next week's process. We got opportunity to get
- 11:15Speaker 5: a lot better between week one and week two. We're
- 11:17Speaker 5: gonna need to. Obviously, our slip was showing a little
- 11:20Speaker 5: bit to day. In some areas. We weren't good enough
- 11:22Speaker 5: in the running game, particularly the RPO running game. We
- 11:26Speaker 5: didn't put enough pressure on Justin on the offensive side
- 11:30Speaker 5: of the ball. I thought some negative plays killed drives.
- 11:33Speaker 5: We didn't protect our quarterback well enough on play pass,
- 11:36Speaker 5: you know, trying to go for chunks on first and
- 11:38Speaker 5: second down. They sacked us a couple of times in
- 11:40Speaker 5: those instances put us behind the chains. You can't be
- 11:43Speaker 5: behind the chains in the hostile environment. In the close
- 11:45Speaker 5: football game, usually those bills come due. And so you know,
- 11:48Speaker 5: those are some of the things that you know, you
- 11:50Speaker 5: talk about or you feel immediately after. But certainly we'll
- 11:55Speaker 5: comb through this and work to get better. That's a
- 11:58Speaker 5: part of the process, that cycle of prepare, play, evaluate,
- 12:02Speaker 5: make necessary corrections, and play again. And so I'm excited
- 12:06Speaker 5: about looking at the video and dissecting it the things
- 12:09Speaker 5: that we need to improve upon and going to work
- 12:12Speaker 5: next week with this group. We absorb some attrition in game,
- 12:15Speaker 5: like always, Deshaun Elliott has a knee injury that's being evaluated.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Malik Harrison also has a knee injury that's being evaluated.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Joey Porter Junior's hamstring got tight, then we shut him down,
- 12:27Speaker 5: so it didn't get any worse than it was. There's
- 12:30Speaker 5: some other bumps and bruises associated with play. I think
- 12:32Speaker 5: Cam got poked in the eye, but he was firing
- 12:34Speaker 5: and able to finish. But more than anything, man, I'm
- 12:37Speaker 5: just excited for this group to face adversity and persevere.
- 12:41Speaker 5: I'm excited about the new stealers, whether they're new to
- 12:44Speaker 5: the league or new to us. Man. We got a
- 12:46Speaker 5: lot of plays from a lot of new stealers today
- 12:49Speaker 5: and they're earning their place and stealing lower with their efforts.
- 12:53Speaker 5: And we talked about a little bit about that last night.
- 12:55Speaker 5: I don't care about what means you get here, man,
- 12:57Speaker 5: you play one play for this organization, you'll still And
- 13:00Speaker 5: so a lot of guys etched their names into into
- 13:04Speaker 5: that legacy with their efforts and play today. Can't say
- 13:07Speaker 5: enough about Kenny g that that that offensive player making
- 13:13Speaker 5: a tackle on kickoff and knocking that ball loose. I
- 13:15Speaker 5: think Scornic recovered. Man, it's just an example of making
- 13:19Speaker 5: plays in all three phases and being a football player
- 13:21Speaker 5: first and a positional player second.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Here to all the ups and downs this game. Oh,
- 13:29Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 13:29Speaker 7: I mean that's what you're supposed to do, your NFL player.
- 13:32Speaker 7: You know, Mike talks about standard of play and the
- 13:38Speaker 7: way you're supposed to handle adversity. And we had a
- 13:42Speaker 7: tough training camp, physical training camp, practicing mid midday in
- 13:47Speaker 7: the heat, So you know, I expect our guys to
- 13:50Speaker 7: be mentally tough in those situations.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Did you see up so much experience in a final
- 13:54Speaker 4: drove situation? But it does it become any more challenging?
- 13:58Speaker 4: First game with the new team, Yeah, I played a
- 14:01Speaker 4: preseason game.
- 14:02Speaker 6: Lack of familiar I mean it it's still football.
- 14:06Speaker 7: Uh we got host on a call there that would
- 14:09Speaker 7: have been able to run the clock out probably, but
- 14:12Speaker 7: uh Boss built us out with an amazing kick. So
- 14:15Speaker 7: it was a good team win. A lot of a
- 14:16Speaker 7: lot of new guys, you know, made some plays. Uh,
- 14:19Speaker 7: you know, Kenny made some plays. Johnny made some plays,
- 14:22Speaker 7: Jalen on defense. So proud, Uh, proud of our guys
- 14:25Speaker 7: just one game, though.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Did you feel any emotions aren't coming back here seeing
- 14:30Speaker 4: guys from the Jets anything like that.
- 14:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I still have a lot of people
- 14:35Speaker 7: that uh didn't have fun feelings for and uh so
- 14:40Speaker 7: pre game I saw a few of the guys, Caussy, Tyrod,
- 14:43Speaker 7: I left Tyrod, who won a great guy, saw Quinn
- 14:47Speaker 7: and Quincy, Jamie and you know, there's there's so many
- 14:53Speaker 7: guys that real I really enjoy there, both the young
- 14:55Speaker 7: backs they got and Breeze.
- 14:58Speaker 6: So it's nice to see those guys.
- 15:00Speaker 8: I know you warmed up with kran Pate on the field,
- 15:02Speaker 8: so when you got off the bus, what was it
- 15:05Speaker 8: like being able to kind of start off your routine
- 15:08Speaker 8: out there on the field with a familiar face in him.
- 15:10Speaker 6: M with KP. I love KP Uh wish the organization
- 15:16Speaker 6: would hire him back. Uh.
- 15:18Speaker 7: He's a you know, he's a character guy, culture guy, great,
- 15:22Speaker 7: great young guy. That that was fun to see him.
- 15:25Speaker 7: He said, I'm working on the visitor side. They I said,
- 15:28Speaker 7: well let's play a little catch then, So that was fun
- 15:31Speaker 7: see KP.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Eron w How have you built that camaraderie with Scornic
- 15:35Speaker 5: and Austin and a lot of the different receivers they
- 15:38Speaker 5: used today.
- 15:40Speaker 7: I don't think it hurt uh, the little trip that
- 15:43Speaker 7: uh Friarmouth put together to come out and see me
- 15:46Speaker 7: out west.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:47Speaker 7: Ben was annoying the heck out of me all camp,
- 15:51Speaker 7: trying to beg me to go to uh Custard spot
- 15:54Speaker 7: almost every single day. But Ben is a glue guy
- 16:00Speaker 7: for our team. You know, he does the dirty work.
- 16:03Speaker 7: And I couldn't believe coming off that fake he was
- 16:05Speaker 7: wide open. I was throwing the ball thinking, man, Ben's
- 16:07Speaker 7: gonna score the first test uh, And then I went
- 16:10Speaker 7: to the locker room and saw the worst thing that
- 16:12Speaker 7: can happen to Ben. That's a crowd full of reporters
- 16:14Speaker 7: around them to get his head even bigger than it
- 16:16Speaker 7: already is. But but I'm uh, I really like Ben
- 16:21Speaker 7: and proud of that play made today.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Do you keep the.
- 16:24Speaker 8: Football after that?
- 16:25Speaker 6: Or does he get that ball any of those he
- 16:27Speaker 6: can have?
- 16:28Speaker 7: That one big was a stripped by a game well
- 16:31Speaker 7: on the kick and then you strike two play players.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Was that Kenny that stripped it? Yeah? I didn't know
- 16:35Speaker 6: who stripped it.
- 16:35Speaker 7: But that I saw, I think Ben recovered it, didn't it, Yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 7: because uh, that was a big turning point for sure.
- 16:42Speaker 7: Now they went down and scored again, but our defense,
- 16:46Speaker 7: uh played much better in the second half, and then
- 16:48Speaker 7: we're opportunistic. Obviously special teams, uh came up, came up
- 16:53Speaker 7: big today. You know, we got the best part about
- 16:57Speaker 7: Week one victories like this is there's so much correct
- 17:00Speaker 7: the bull tape on there. It's like a coach's you know,
- 17:03Speaker 7: dream journal right there. To win but also to have
- 17:06Speaker 7: some correctable moments. So sure all the coaches are going
- 17:09Speaker 7: to be watching the film on the way back and
- 17:11Speaker 7: not celebrating and remembering it's so hard to win.
- 17:14Speaker 6: In this leade. You should enjoy it for a little
- 17:16Speaker 6: bit at least.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Rolling on here this week on the Irish Theaters Podcast
- 17:20Speaker 3: present of by Erlingis. After a big win for the
- 17:22Speaker 3: Steaters at matt Life Stadium, Michael mcquad here delighted the
- 17:25Speaker 3: role with you this season with the Steelers and a
- 17:27Speaker 3: historic year for the NFL across the Island of barn
- 17:30Speaker 3: and that a historic year for the Pittsburgh Steedeters delighted
- 17:32Speaker 3: this week to have Davog McKee join me, Davog. We've
- 17:37Speaker 3: obviously taxed over the last few months, and it was
- 17:39Speaker 3: always the plan that you know, obviously have a bit
- 17:41Speaker 3: of a break with you guys and give you guys
- 17:42Speaker 3: a bit of a breakoff. One of the biggest things
- 17:45Speaker 3: that broke quite quickly after that was at the Super
- 17:49Speaker 3: Bowl with the NFL doubling GIAM being announced with the
- 17:52Speaker 3: Pittsburgh Steters as a designated home team, and then obviously
- 17:55Speaker 3: a few weeks to months later, Minnesota Vikings announced the
- 17:59Speaker 3: dates are announced. I believe you have your tickets. I'm
- 18:02Speaker 3: asking you this because I know you and from chatting
- 18:05Speaker 3: to you and for people listening to this, you're a
- 18:09Speaker 3: diehard Steels fan. You had the chance to go over
- 18:11Speaker 3: to the Pittsburgh last year, You've Steelers are guilia sitting
- 18:15Speaker 3: in your house and trun What does this mean to
- 18:18Speaker 3: you in the in the next few weeks and how
- 18:20Speaker 3: excited you for this day overall?
- 18:24Speaker 4: Mak it means, it means absolutely everything, and it probably
- 18:27Speaker 4: means absolutely everything every other Steeler's on this, not even
- 18:30Speaker 4: just Steelers, but NFL fots as a whole. To mean,
- 18:33Speaker 4: I was thinking there last night so I was just
- 18:35Speaker 4: lying in Ben was thinking, imagine telling yourself fifteen years
- 18:38Speaker 4: ago we were going to have an NFL regular season
- 18:41Speaker 4: game of gro Harder me. It's it's it's it's something
- 18:44Speaker 4: that you just wouldn't have believed. And I have to say,
- 18:47Speaker 4: you know yourself, you deserve a lot of credit board,
- 18:49Speaker 4: and you put a lot of hard work in to
- 18:50Speaker 4: bring it as well, So you know, just on a
- 18:52Speaker 4: personal share it yourself. I don't think it would have
- 18:54Speaker 4: been possible without yourself, and you know all the other
- 18:57Speaker 4: content creators across the old and so opinion, it's been
- 19:01Speaker 4: an absolute It's been a long world, but it's been
- 19:03Speaker 4: it's been world worth every minute another. But then the
- 19:05Speaker 4: fact that we're obviously going to get to see the
- 19:07Speaker 4: likes of Arn Rodgers, Justin Jefferson, great star, j J McCarthy,
- 19:12Speaker 4: you know up and common youth stored that were probably
- 19:14Speaker 4: hopefully going to be able to see for years of
- 19:16Speaker 4: commas as it pinched me a moment and that I
- 19:18Speaker 4: am absolutely buzzing not just for the game but the
- 19:20Speaker 4: whole festivities over the week. I'm obsolutely buzzing for all
- 19:23Speaker 4: of that. And yeah, well, I say, is here we go.
- 19:26Speaker 4: It's only what less than twenty went twenty days ago,
- 19:28Speaker 4: twenty guys to go, sorry and yeah, yeah, wake me
- 19:32Speaker 4: up on that Sunday morning.
- 19:33Speaker 3: If yeah, if the podcast goes out on Tuesday morning,
- 19:36Speaker 3: hold everybody in your car listening or on your phone
- 19:38Speaker 3: if you are nineteen days to kick off in cool Park. Look,
- 19:42Speaker 3: I appreciate what you were saying, and thank you very
- 19:44Speaker 3: much as the time words, but it will add to
- 19:45Speaker 3: that dove over for people listening. Steelers has done so
- 19:48Speaker 3: much in the market over the last few years. And
- 19:51Speaker 3: one thing that I mentioned on the podcast last week
- 19:53Speaker 3: was the pro shop now in Dublin. So many plans,
- 19:56Speaker 3: including the teal gates which are taking place that weekend.
- 19:59Speaker 3: If it's Simon, this is going to be the team bar.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Is there any one element that you're looking forward to
- 20:04Speaker 3: in dublindgust side of the game.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Well, that pro shop was really out of the blue.
- 20:09Speaker 4: I mean, that's another thing I was thinking about. It
- 20:12Speaker 4: is like, who would have thought there would have been
- 20:13Speaker 4: a Pittsburgh Steelers pro shop bang in the middle of
- 20:15Speaker 4: Dublin for fans to sort of get their hands on
- 20:17Speaker 4: jerseys and and other memorabilia stuff. It's it's just incredible.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Obviously just been writing all of our American friends, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 4: ones that haven't got a chance to come over and
- 20:27Speaker 4: see Dublin, see our tradition, see our game, see our sports,
- 20:30Speaker 4: your music, and getting the show off that. But as
- 20:33Speaker 4: well as I being able to walk in the NFL
- 20:34Speaker 4: family over as well. I mean there's gonna be a
- 20:37Speaker 4: lot of people out of imagine in Dublin that weekend,
- 20:39Speaker 4: but or maybe thinking, oh, what's one of its. It'd
- 20:41Speaker 4: be hard to say what's going on because it's been
- 20:43Speaker 4: all over the place, but there'd be people thinking, oh,
- 20:45Speaker 4: I might give this to go, might give it a watch,
- 20:47Speaker 4: And whether you're watching it in the bar or you're
- 20:48Speaker 4: watching it in the stadium, it's going to be one
- 20:50Speaker 4: thing you're not going to miss. So it's really about
- 20:53Speaker 4: insighting our friends over from the US, showing us, showing
- 20:56Speaker 4: them off our culture, our sport, our music. But all
- 21:00Speaker 4: so it going the other way. Being able to show
- 21:01Speaker 4: the people of Ireland as a whole. You know, the
- 21:05Speaker 4: NFL itself is a great opportunity and it's one I'm
- 21:07Speaker 4: absoutely bought in for.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I sort of said to you off just off camera,
- 21:12Speaker 3: and off Mike Davog and I sort of said it
- 21:14Speaker 3: on the podcast last week, folks, get done it a
- 21:16Speaker 3: pro shop whatever you can't. I had the pleasure of
- 21:19Speaker 3: purchasing a couple of special Terrible tiles with the Irish
- 21:22Speaker 3: tricolor on it and also the date of September the
- 21:25Speaker 3: twentieth of the game. So definitely check it out just
- 21:28Speaker 3: before we go Davog this week. We are going to
- 21:30Speaker 3: talk about it myself and yourself later on in the week,
- 21:33Speaker 3: But Seattle on top this weekend the home opener for
- 21:35Speaker 3: the Steelers, the last home game they play before they
- 21:38Speaker 3: go to New England and then they get on a
- 21:40Speaker 3: plane they go to Dublin litter on the week after.
- 21:43Speaker 3: What's your thoughts around this game if you had to
- 21:45Speaker 3: have a couple of keys of the game, because I
- 21:47Speaker 3: ended up watching the fourth quarter anyway of the Seahawks
- 21:51Speaker 3: against the Niners and Sunday night, and certainly the Seahawks
- 21:55Speaker 3: will be very, very disappointed with how that game ended
- 21:58Speaker 3: in the way that brock Perty got that past time.
- 22:01Speaker 3: They're gonna be chomping on the bit, and especially there's
- 22:03Speaker 3: a real high coming from Pittsburgh here at the minute
- 22:05Speaker 3: for me, it's really you know, consistency, don't let the
- 22:08Speaker 3: guard done. But I tell you what, I'm excited to
- 22:10Speaker 3: see this team on Sunday already month.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Yeah, to be honest, like I haven't looked much into it.
- 22:17Speaker 4: I'm still still buzzing over yesterday yesterday's game. But Seattle
- 22:21Speaker 4: obviously in their second year with coach McDonald. Sam Donald's
- 22:25Speaker 4: now taking the rains of quarterback who's obviously he won
- 22:28Speaker 4: fourteen games last year with Minnesota. I mean, this is
- 22:30Speaker 4: in the same sar Sam Donald that came out of
- 22:32Speaker 4: New York and you know, stunk up the joint. This
- 22:34Speaker 4: is a different Sam Donald, very mobile, very you know, capable,
- 22:38Speaker 4: and just on the early stage. You know, I watched
- 22:40Speaker 4: a bit of the game as well. Not a lot
- 22:43Speaker 4: going on offensively. I mean, of course, you know Jackson
- 22:45Speaker 4: Smith and Jigba is a great threat. But yeah, honestly,
- 22:49Speaker 4: you know, you could arguable, you know thing that's that's
- 22:53Speaker 4: the Jets are arguably a better team. I mean, obviously
- 22:55Speaker 4: they didn't have a great year last year, but you know,
- 22:57Speaker 4: the new coach and the Justin thing whu is the
- 23:00Speaker 4: additional quarterback is obviously standing out to them. But I
- 23:03Speaker 4: think absolutely, you know, our first home game at Acriture
- 23:06Speaker 4: this year, there's obviously no chance we're going to let
- 23:08Speaker 4: them rule in this Ireland and take a bactory. So
- 23:10Speaker 4: looking forward to previewing lot and later in the week
- 23:12Speaker 4: and you know a bit more research and stuff in this,
- 23:14Speaker 4: but only all chances, you know, I can I see
- 23:16Speaker 4: our chances against anybody at this rate, you.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Know, looking forward to that later on the weekend. Folks,
- 23:21Speaker 3: if you are listening to the podcast, use the hashtags
- 23:24Speaker 3: Steelers Iron or hitting myself and Dave walk up on
- 23:26Speaker 3: X for any questions you might have ahead of this game.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Big game come up this weekend this Sunday. You can
- 23:31Speaker 3: watch it potentially either on Sky Sports channel five or
- 23:35Speaker 3: the Zone will let you know that are on the
- 23:37Speaker 3: week one channel that's going to be on. But you
- 23:38Speaker 3: can definitely listen to OTP Sports Radio for now from
- 23:41Speaker 3: dal Walk and for myself, Will Chatti sent here.
- 23:44Speaker 4: We go, Here we go.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Irish airline air Lingus will proudly serve as the presenting
- 24:18Speaker 1: partner of Steelers Ireland twenty twenty five. Airlingus's growth in
- 24:21Speaker 1: North America continues in twenty twenty five as the airline
- 24:24Speaker 1: prepares to fly to two new US destinations, Nashville and Indianapolis,
- 24:29Speaker 1: using its new Airbus eight three twenty one excel Or aircraft.
- 24:33Speaker 2: This brings the number of.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Transatlantic routes operated by the airline from Dublin, Shannon and
- 24:37Speaker 1: Manchester to twenty four. Steelers fans traveling to Ireland for
- 24:41Speaker 1: the Big Game can enjoy a relaxing journey when they
- 24:43Speaker 1: fly with air Lingus.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Air Lingus, You're very welcome.
