- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gadigal Land Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land. Hey GPS and welcome to the
- 0:12Speaker 1: final episode of the Financial Glow Up, the twenty twenty.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Five Reset series.
- 0:17Speaker 1: This was our first ever mini series where we discussed
- 0:21Speaker 1: how we were going to reset and go up our
- 0:22Speaker 1: finances in twenty twenty five. I feel ready. I feel
- 0:25Speaker 1: so motivated. Me too, I can't wait.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Bring it on, come on, Joe.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Well, it's already the new year by the time this
- 0:32Speaker 1: episode drops.
- 0:33Speaker 3: So happy away you chicks.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Chicks, I hope you're feeling the new year momentum, the
- 0:41Speaker 1: new year drive to glow Up. I love the start
- 0:45Speaker 1: of the year. The start of the year is the
- 0:46Speaker 1: best feeling of the world. It's like a clean slate.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You can look at everything in your life, see what
- 0:52Speaker 1: you're happy with, keep that going, and see what you
- 0:54Speaker 1: want to improve, address your life lessons from the last.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Year, and evolve.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Make twenty twenty five the best year. Yep.
- 1:02Speaker 1: We love sexy biology. So given that we're on the
- 1:07Speaker 1: New Year Up, we are going to talk about how
- 1:11Speaker 1: to set your goals, your financial goals for the new year,
- 1:14Speaker 1: but the daily habits that create long term wealth rich
- 1:20Speaker 1: akch aka rich in twenty twenty four four and five Australian,
- 1:26Speaker 1: so approximately eighty three percent set financial goals and year
- 1:30Speaker 1: on year we see very similar numbers, so I wouldn't
- 1:33Speaker 1: be surprised if it was the same for this year.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And within those goals, very common ones are saving more,
- 1:39Speaker 1: spending less, and reducing expenses. So we wanted to break
- 1:45Speaker 1: down the things that you can do in twenty twenty
- 1:47Speaker 1: five to help you achieve them. And the main tip
- 1:51Speaker 1: is being clear, specific and realistic.
- 1:54Speaker 2: But Sound's gonna break them down for.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Us because she's pooky, because she pooky. Yeah, so break
- 2:01Speaker 4: them down for us South. Our first step be specific.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Instead of saying I want to save more money, try this.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I want to save five thousand dollars for an emergency
- 2:12Speaker 4: fund by December thirty first, twenty twenty five.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Ma'am, ma'am.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Now we've got a goal that's not vague and you
- 2:20Speaker 4: can track your progress as you go.
- 2:22Speaker 1: When did chaer come in the studio, ba'am?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Next one, make it measurable. This part is key. If
- 2:30Speaker 3: your goal.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Isn't measurable, how do you know if you are actually
- 2:34Speaker 4: making progress or if.
- 2:35Speaker 3: You've achieved it.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's why you feel like you're not achieving anything. If
- 2:39Speaker 2: you don't make your.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Goals measurable so that you have like a yes or
- 2:42Speaker 1: no answer, you're setting yourself up for failure exactly.
- 2:46Speaker 4: And just because it's measurable doesn't mean it needs to
- 2:48Speaker 4: be huge or unachievable. If anything, it's the opposite. For example,
- 2:53Speaker 4: if you're paying off credit card debt, break it down
- 2:56Speaker 4: like this, I'm going to pay off five hundred dollars
- 2:59Speaker 4: this month. Month. Simple, but it gives you something to
- 3:02Speaker 4: aim for every single month.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You can also increase that or decrease that. I think
- 3:08Speaker 1: the best thing is starting ridiculously small that it's so achievable,
- 3:12Speaker 1: especially in the first month, so you get that dopamine
- 3:15Speaker 1: hit of motivation, and so it could even be one
- 3:17Speaker 1: hundred dollars. I'm going to save one hundred dollars this month,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and then in February you make it two hundred, and
- 3:22Speaker 1: then March three hundred and slowly increase. And mapping your
- 3:25Speaker 1: goals that way is more of a steady incline rather
- 3:30Speaker 1: than going I'm going to save ten thousand dollars and
- 3:34Speaker 1: bitch where.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Exactly and making it flexible.
- 3:38Speaker 4: So say if you had like a big expense come up,
- 3:40Speaker 4: you're like, okay, well maybe this month I'll go back
- 3:42Speaker 4: to one hundred, and then you can always go up
- 3:45Speaker 4: from there.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Next here.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Give it a timeline, you know when you have a
- 3:50Speaker 4: deadline for work, and it creates a focus tunnel for
- 3:54Speaker 4: your time. It's the same thing with financial goals. Set
- 3:58Speaker 4: a date. You need a dead line to keep you
- 4:01Speaker 4: on track and most importantly, connect to your why. This
- 4:05Speaker 4: is an absolute game changer. Why do you even want
- 4:09Speaker 4: to hit these goals? Maybe it's to go on your
- 4:12Speaker 4: dream vacation, build up your savings so you can start investing,
- 4:17Speaker 4: or pay off your debt, and finally feel for reading,
- 4:23Speaker 4: your why is the energy that's going to keep you
- 4:26Speaker 4: motivated on those days when you would just rather skip
- 4:30Speaker 4: budgeting and buy that new skin care set instead, or new.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Pair of shoes, or cheese bagel throwback.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Or vod capasita on your breads that costs seventy two
- 4:43Speaker 1: dollars and comes cold and all over the bag.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Anyway, keep your why in mind.
- 4:48Speaker 4: It'll help you power you through those really tough moments
- 4:51Speaker 4: and keep you motivated throughout your journey.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So let's get into the daily habits that make it
- 4:57Speaker 1: happen and also help generate long term we building these
- 5:00Speaker 1: habits are not only going to benefit you this year,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but every single year going forward until you're lowered into
- 5:06Speaker 1: the grid, which never happened, because we're all going to
- 5:09Speaker 1: live for every single bayor all right, let's set some goals, babe,
- 5:12Speaker 1: so daily habits to set up in twenty twenty five
- 5:15Speaker 1: to make it happen. This could be your long term
- 5:18Speaker 1: wealth goals or just goals in general, because we've all
- 5:21Speaker 1: heard the saying that success happens in the small moments,
- 5:25Speaker 1: So it's really focusing on the small details and daily
- 5:29Speaker 1: things that you can do that will create like ripple
- 5:33Speaker 1: effect to the rest of your life and you'll be
- 5:35Speaker 1: slaying and slaying forever. So here are some small things
- 5:40Speaker 1: that you can start doing today. First one is a
- 5:44Speaker 1: five minute money check in. So we have talked about
- 5:47Speaker 1: having a little money date with yourself earlier in this series,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but if even that sounds a little bit too far
- 5:54Speaker 1: away from where you are, start even smaller.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Start with five minutes.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And that's even opening your banking app at the end
- 6:01Speaker 1: of the day and looking at what you spent money
- 6:03Speaker 1: on that day. Maybe it's writing it out on a
- 6:05Speaker 1: notepad so you can visually see what you spent money
- 6:09Speaker 1: that day. I know it's tempting to ignore your budget sometimes,
- 6:12Speaker 1: like oh, I'll just check it next week and just
- 6:15Speaker 1: pretend that I didn't spend that much money.
- 6:17Speaker 2: It's all on the past. I know it's all on
- 6:19Speaker 2: the past. I puna matata.
- 6:21Speaker 1: But trust me, taking five minutes every day to check
- 6:23Speaker 1: in on your spending can and will make a huge difference.
- 6:27Speaker 1: By opening up your banking app and checking your transactions,
- 6:30Speaker 1: it makes you more accountable and makes sure that you're
- 6:34Speaker 1: sticking to your goals. It is the easiest way to
- 6:37Speaker 1: stay accountable to yourself without feeling too overwhelmed. I think
- 6:42Speaker 1: it also will make you more conscious when you do
- 6:44Speaker 1: go to spend because you will think, I'm going to
- 6:47Speaker 1: look at this at the end of.
- 6:48Speaker 2: The day, yeah, and then.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, So if you're like, okay, am I doing this?
- 6:56Speaker 1: You know when sometimes you've gone to spend money and
- 6:59Speaker 1: you know it's maybe a little bit of a splurgeon,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you kind of close your eyes and click the button
- 7:03Speaker 1: and you're like yeah, and then you're like, I'll just
- 7:06Speaker 1: forget I spent that money, right, But when you know
- 7:09Speaker 1: that you're gonna check it at the end of the day,
- 7:10Speaker 1: you can't bury your head in the sand.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so it kind.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Of will help you in the future as well to
- 7:15Speaker 1: be a little bit more accountable for your spending and
- 7:17Speaker 1: avoid those impulse moments, which we're all guilty of, no shape, no.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Judgment, guilty as charge.
- 7:23Speaker 3: In the studio blindly with.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Next is to automate your savings. This is easily one
- 7:35Speaker 1: of the best ways to just make your life easier.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So if you're not already automating your savings, girl, you
- 7:43Speaker 1: are missing out. To set up a daily or weekly
- 7:46Speaker 1: transfer into your savings account. Even if it's just five
- 7:49Speaker 1: dollars a day, that adds up to one hundred and
- 7:51Speaker 1: fifty dollars a month, which is one eight hundred dollars.
- 7:56Speaker 2: A year, not bad, good size.
- 7:58Speaker 1: The best part and my absolute favorite, is you don't
- 8:02Speaker 1: even have to think about it.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It's like a set it and forget outside out of mind.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And I do think when you do that five minute
- 8:09Speaker 1: check in, you're can see that like five dollars come out,
- 8:12Speaker 1: but outside of that, you're not going to think about it.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You're not going to miss it. But how often do
- 8:19Speaker 1: you blindly.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Just pay thirty five dollars for take away food.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I step out of the house and thirty five dollars
- 8:26Speaker 1: leaves my bank account. So having that automatic setup just
- 8:30Speaker 1: means it's done, it's there, and you don't even have
- 8:33Speaker 1: to think about it anymore.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Our next daily habit investing a little time in learning.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Set aside just ten fifteen minutes a day to learn
- 8:42Speaker 4: about money, whether it's reading a financial blog, watching a TikTok,
- 8:48Speaker 4: or listening to a podcast like this one. The more
- 8:51Speaker 4: you learn, the more you'll feel empowered to make better
- 8:55Speaker 4: financial decisions. Even those ten minutes a day will add
- 8:58Speaker 4: up over time, trust us. Moving on to start your
- 9:02Speaker 4: day with financial affirmations. Okay, we know it sounds a
- 9:07Speaker 4: little woo woo, but I love a little woo woo.
- 9:10Speaker 3: What's wrong with that?
- 9:11Speaker 1: I also think it fully works. I know I've talked
- 9:14Speaker 1: about manifesting, but like when you look at your vision board,
- 9:18Speaker 1: when I look at our vision board for this year
- 9:21Speaker 1: and how much has come true and by that I
- 9:24Speaker 1: mean all of.
- 9:25Speaker 2: It, I'm like, all right, I'm on board, baby, Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 2: sign me up. Exact take me to Woo Woo Land.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Take me to Woo Woo Land.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Starting your day with a simple affirmation like I am
- 9:35Speaker 4: in control of my finances or money flows to me
- 9:39Speaker 4: easily and effortlessly, can seriously.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Help shift your mindset.
- 9:45Speaker 4: The power of positive thinking, especially around money.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Is so real.
- 9:49Speaker 4: You've got to believe that you can have it all
- 9:52Speaker 4: because you totally can.
- 9:54Speaker 3: And lastly, the thirty second pause.
- 9:58Speaker 4: We can't stress this enough, and it's something that we
- 10:01Speaker 4: touched on in the third episode of this mini series,
- 10:06Speaker 4: but take a second before every purchase to ask yourself,
- 10:10Speaker 4: is this aligned with my twenty twenty five goals? This
- 10:14Speaker 4: pause will help you make more intentional choices, especially on
- 10:19Speaker 4: those impulse or emotional buyers.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Just a little pause.
- 10:24Speaker 4: For thirty seconds can save you a lot of money.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Even better, make it twenty four hours, as we mentioned
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think in episode three, But the purpose of these
- 10:35Speaker 1: daily habits is to be small and easy to execute,
- 10:38Speaker 1: So start at thirty seconds if that's what you need,
- 10:41Speaker 1: and grow towards the twenty four hour pause. But even
- 10:44Speaker 1: just starting with an effort with these daily goals is
- 10:48Speaker 1: going to help you build the foundation for healthy money
- 10:51Speaker 1: habits for twenty twenty five and beyond to wrap up
- 10:55Speaker 1: our final episode of the Financial Gow. Up Here is
- 10:58Speaker 1: our master money tip that we want you to walk
- 11:01Speaker 1: away with and we want to keep that up going,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and we wanted to share the five signs that you're
- 11:08Speaker 1: doing financially better than you.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Think you are, because it's so easy for us to look.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Down on ourselves in these scenarios and think that we're
- 11:16Speaker 1: behind or compare ourselves, which is so easy and it's
- 11:20Speaker 1: such an easy trap to fall into. So we're going
- 11:22Speaker 1: to share the five signs that you're doing better financially
- 11:25Speaker 1: than you think you are.
- 11:27Speaker 2: To help you still feel a little bit good at yourself.
- 11:30Speaker 4: And kick the good vibes rolling baby, positive vibes only baby.
- 11:34Speaker 1: So we'll link the source in the show notes. So
- 11:36Speaker 1: number one, you've got one thousand dollars saved. Forty five
- 11:40Speaker 1: percent of Australians don't. Number two, you've got no credit
- 11:44Speaker 1: card debt, sixty eight percent of Australians do. Number three,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you're investing in the share market Forty two percent of
- 11:53Speaker 1: Aussie women do. Number four you have no car payment.
- 11:58Speaker 1: The average new car payment is seven hundred and sixty
- 12:01Speaker 1: dollars and ninety two cents per month.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It's huge.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And number five, you have a will fifty two percent
- 12:09Speaker 1: of Ossie's don't.
- 12:11Speaker 2: How good's that?
- 12:12Speaker 4: So?
- 12:12Speaker 1: I feel like most people would be able to relate
- 12:15Speaker 1: to maybe one of those, if not more.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And again, if you don't.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Now is the perfect time to work towards at least
- 12:22Speaker 1: one of them. If you can't relate to any of those,
- 12:25Speaker 1: please don't feel bad about yourself.
- 12:26Speaker 2: That's not the point. It's about finding the small.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Ways that you can glow up and reset your finances
- 12:31Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five, and this mini series was what
- 12:35Speaker 1: why we made that is to make it super simple,
- 12:39Speaker 1: super easy and attainable. Money goals and money achievements often
- 12:44Speaker 1: feel so far away from where we are, but they're not.
- 12:47Speaker 2: The smallest little.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Will literally lead to the biggest results that you didn't
- 12:53Speaker 1: even think you could achieve. It just I know it
- 12:55Speaker 1: sounds so cheesy, but it's literally just about starting well.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Is a wrap for the Financial Glow Up mini series.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Well, thanks so much chicks for joining along. If you
- 13:07Speaker 4: haven't listened to all of the episodes, this was a
- 13:09Speaker 4: five part mini series, so make sure you go back
- 13:12Speaker 4: and listen to them more and get geared up for
- 13:16Speaker 4: an absolutely amazing twenty twenty five.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Love It, You're gonna smash it.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I can't wait, and you're regularly scheduled programming of Two
- 13:24Speaker 1: Broke Chicks. We'll return later this month, Yes, very very soon.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Love you, chick Bye, Chicky Bye,
