Speaker 2: sequel of Paradise One. It literally starts off right where

Speaker 2: Paradise Is one ends. There's no like time, there's no

Speaker 2: like gap between the two of them. It's literally like

Speaker 2: jumping right into where Paradise one left off and where

Speaker 2: we left off in Paradise one was they managed to

Speaker 2: finally break through the blockade that was surrounding the planet

Speaker 2: and they landed on the surface, only to find that

Speaker 2: the entire settlement on the surface was completely abandoned. There

Speaker 2: there's no living soul in sight. It's clear that the

Speaker 2: that this entire outpost had been abandoned for quite a

Speaker 2: long time. And uh, there's obvious sign there was obvious

Speaker 2: signs of some kind of Uh, there was obviously not

Speaker 2: some kind of So, there was obvious signs that nobody

Speaker 2: has been maintaining the equipment. The crops that they've been

Speaker 2: struggling so hard to grow have all completely died. There's

Speaker 2: nobody around now. They Now we are continuing with our

Speaker 2: with our heroes quote unquote, agent Alexander Petrova and her

Speaker 2: team doctor Uh, doctor Jang Lee Uh, the AI robotic

Speaker 2: companion rap Scallion, and of course Parker Parker, who is

Speaker 2: more like a ghost in the show. He's an A.

Speaker 2: He is technically an AI, but he is also the

Speaker 2: copied consciousness of an actual living person who died at

Speaker 2: the beginning of Paradise one, So he's kind of just

Speaker 2: piggybacking off of wrap scallions, uh, hardware and using whatever

Speaker 2: like hard light projectors in the area to physically manifest himself.

Speaker 2: They begin to investigate the settlement, and to them, it

Speaker 2: just looks like everyone just got up and left. There's

Speaker 2: not many, not much signs of like struggle or not

Speaker 2: much to say that there was like anything that actually happens.

Speaker 2: They're not finding any like, they're not find there there.

Speaker 2: It's kind of disappointing, really. They they come down to

Speaker 2: the surface to figure out what's going on, and they're

Speaker 2: finding nothing as they're investigating. As they continue to investigate,

Speaker 2: they do find that there were like they find they

Speaker 2: find oddly that the construct that a lot of the

Speaker 2: construction equipment and like other equipment like vehicles, and like

Speaker 2: agricultural equipment, even uh like equipment that's just simply used

Speaker 2: for simply use for like day to day tasks, but

Speaker 2: primarily used for like transport, have all been sabotaged. They're

Speaker 2: not they're not they've been rendered non functional and they can't.

Speaker 2: It's clear that somebody was trying to make sure that

Speaker 2: nobody was able was going to be able to leave,

Speaker 2: And unfortunately for them, they're not going to be able

Speaker 2: to leave either, because the shuttle that they took down

Speaker 2: back down to the surface of the planet was not

Speaker 2: It's in rough shape and they're not gonna be able

Speaker 2: to leave anytime soon. So as you're searching, Petrova actually

Speaker 2: comes across one of the residents hiding hiding somewhere in

Speaker 2: the cabins. But when she looks at him, she notices

Speaker 2: something off about this man. For one thing, he's dead.

Speaker 2: Another thing, his body looks like it's covered in these

Speaker 2: black in these black veins. His eyes are pitch black,

Speaker 2: and clearly this man is dead. She's forced to she's

Speaker 2: forced to defend himself, defend herself after this walking corpse

Speaker 2: attempts to attack her, and she's forced to kill the

Speaker 2: guy it's not longer after that that they start noticing

Speaker 2: more and more residents are appearing out of are appearing

Speaker 2: out of hidden places that they are like just peering

Speaker 2: out of nowhere, seemingly peering out of nowhere. They were

Speaker 2: cleverly hiding from uh they were cleverly hiding or they

Speaker 2: were just coming there. It looked like they were coming

Speaker 2: from outside of the town. And when they started. When

Speaker 2: they appeared, it forces them to take shelter in the

Speaker 2: community center, which also acts as like the hospital. They

Speaker 2: they make use of whatever equipment they have to defend

Speaker 2: themselves against the zombie like creatures, which they began to

Speaker 2: refer to as revenants. After it seems like for quite

Speaker 2: some time, it seems like there's going to be it

Speaker 2: seems like they're about to be overwhelmed. At one point,

Speaker 2: Petrova pleads to the Basilisk, the alien AI entity that

Speaker 2: has been that was protecting the planet and was also

Speaker 2: the main one of the main antagonists of the previous book.

Speaker 2: She pleads with the with him because it had taken

Speaker 2: up residence in her mind. It's been it's been writing

Speaker 2: shotgun in her brain while they've tried to figure out

Speaker 2: what's down on the planet, and she pleads with it

Speaker 2: to try to see if it could take control of

Speaker 2: these Revenants and get them to run away, like to

Speaker 2: call them off or maybe even kill them. The Basilisk

Speaker 2: is all is only too happy to flex itself, so

Speaker 2: it immediately tries to invade the minds of these Revenants,

Speaker 2: but what it encounters actually terrifies the Basilisk. Now I

Speaker 2: remember from the previous book, the Basilisk is not a

Speaker 2: living organism. It is some form of ancient metaphysical construct

Speaker 2: designed to envelop the entire planet of Paradise one and

Speaker 2: keep whatever's on the planet from leaving, and also keep

Speaker 2: anything from landing on the planet as well. So it's

Speaker 2: like an a. It's like a hyper advanced form like

Speaker 2: ethereal ai. Best way to describe it. It's not a

Speaker 2: living creature, but it is not. But it is like

Speaker 2: an AI, so advanced that we can't really comprehend or

Speaker 2: understand it, understand how it was made, and what it

Speaker 2: found when it invaded the mind of the minds of

Speaker 2: the Revenants actually terrified it because because what it felt

Speaker 2: was just an emptiness, a void that it could not

Speaker 2: affect or have any control over, and this terrified the

Speaker 2: pass list so much that it withdrew and and hit

Speaker 2: itself deep like it retreated itself deep into patrol Ofa's mind,

Speaker 2: forcing them to continue trying to defend themselves. At one point, though,

Speaker 2: the Revenant all stop and leave of their of the conflict.

Speaker 2: They all see what looks like a big quad copter

Speaker 2: the book has. These books have like a lot of

Speaker 2: like cool technology, like things that we'ves that we see

Speaker 2: like today, like familiar things like three D printers, holograms,

Speaker 2: hard like hard light projectors, and they also have quad copters,

Speaker 2: so they like helicopters kind of like drones, but like

Speaker 2: now it's stead of like a helicopter, it's a quad copter,

Speaker 2: so it's like a passenger helicopter but built like a

Speaker 2: quad copter. So I thought that was pretty cool because

Speaker 2: it's basically like a passenger drone. So they see one

Speaker 2: of them fly over the settlement and whoever's piloting it

Speaker 2: like had armed the had actually attached armaments to the

Speaker 2: to the quad copter shoots at some of the Revenant

Speaker 2: and flies away, and the Revenant all end up turning

Speaker 2: and following it out of the of the settlement, so

Speaker 2: for the time being are for the time being, our

Speaker 2: group is safe. But they know that they don't that

Speaker 2: they need to find a way to get off world

Speaker 2: and report back to our security forces what's going on

Speaker 2: on the planet because when they arrived in orbit, all

Speaker 2: method of communication back to Earth had been completely cut off.

Speaker 2: So they need to figure out a way to get

Speaker 2: back in contact with security forces. While they're taking a

Speaker 2: stock of the settlement and it's and it's layout, they

Speaker 2: they realized that the communication array is set on a mountain,

Speaker 2: set on a on a mountaintop, not far away, not

Speaker 2: too far away from the settlement itself, but it's still

Speaker 2: a good like ten twenty kilometers away. So they realize

Speaker 2: that they are going to need to they're gonna have

Speaker 2: to hook it. So, getting as much supplies as they can,

Speaker 2: they set off towards the beacon. So I will say

Speaker 2: this book has like there's a bit of like some

Speaker 2: slow moments in this book because it they have to

Speaker 2: traverse a grow like a good like a good hike

Speaker 2: away from the settlement just to get to the just

Speaker 2: to get to the communication tower which is set on

Speaker 2: higher ground. Because of course communications equipment you got to

Speaker 2: set up high, high up, especially if you want to

Speaker 2: be able to make it to like a long range.

Speaker 2: So it does take some time. They you know, tensions

Speaker 2: are high. They're trying hard to figure to figure out

Speaker 2: and they're trying hard to figure out what the what

Speaker 2: exactly they're dealing with. At one point point, they do

Speaker 2: come across as they're making their way to the to

Speaker 2: the community, the comms array, they do come across like

Speaker 2: a little shack, uh, and they realized that someone else

Speaker 2: had someone else had been living and surviving here. And uh,

Speaker 2: while they're so like, they actually find like a little

Speaker 2: makeshift shack that was kind of hidden in the mountain range.

Speaker 2: It's by like a little by like a little river.

Speaker 2: It had a larder with supplies and everything. And they

Speaker 2: were like, okay, cool, So someone did survive and it's

Speaker 2: probably whoever was flying that quad copter. Uh. They see

Speaker 2: they do notice several interesting factors and and whoever survived
11:44
Speaker 2: I've been like leaving like little like drawing pictures on

Speaker 2: the walls and they can see like, uh kind of
11:50
Speaker 2: get a general idea of what happened. People started. People
11:55
Speaker 2: from the settlement were pretty much like just going about
11:59
Speaker 2: their lives. When they started, they started getting like reports

Speaker 2: from the mining settlement which was more which was like
12:07
Speaker 2: several kilometers away, and the miners were beginning where like
12:12
Speaker 2: there was like some kind of accident several miners were killed.

Speaker 2: And when they brought them in for medical treatment, that's

Speaker 2: when it seemed like more. That's when it seemed like
12:20
Speaker 2: this infection or whatever it was, began to spread and
12:23
Speaker 2: the revenants began to appear. While the while they were
12:26
Speaker 2: at the at this little cabin, they do find a

Speaker 2: three D printer and wrap Skellion immediately takes it over

Speaker 2: and they figure out they need to get to the
12:37
Speaker 2: cons Ray a lot faster. So they figured, let's just

Speaker 2: take this little boat and make our and try to
12:43
Speaker 2: like let's make us a boat and try to like
12:45
Speaker 2: just follow the river down. It'll be faster and safer

Speaker 2: and they'll be able to reach the cons Ray a
12:50
Speaker 2: lot sooner. Uh. They they managed to make a little
12:54
Speaker 2: boat for themselves, though the river proves to be a
12:56
Speaker 2: little bit more dangerous than for what they were expecting. Sorry,

Speaker 2: we're gonna back up a bit. So they do end

Speaker 2: up hiking all right. So after leaving the settlement, they

Speaker 2: have to hike up the mountain, and it's a little

Speaker 2: treacherous because the thing is is that the communications tower

Speaker 2: was not really the best way to get to what
13:16
Speaker 2: wasn't really by hiking to it or even driving it

Speaker 2: was by flying. But unfortunately, all of like the all

Speaker 2: like other quad copters and other airships have been have
13:26
Speaker 2: been sabotaged and the only working one was the one
13:30
Speaker 2: that they saw flying around, and that led the revenants off.

Speaker 2: So they end up hiking up the mountain and eventually

Speaker 2: they do reach the comms tower. It was dangerous because

Speaker 2: they had to take like rough these rough paths they had,
13:45
Speaker 2: they had to climb uh, they had to climb up
13:47
Speaker 2: certain parts, and eventually they do get to the com
13:50
Speaker 2: tower and are able to climb up into its main
13:51
Speaker 2: control room. Though when they get there they realize that
13:55
Speaker 2: the comps have also been sabotaged. But luckily they were

Speaker 2: able to it was not it was something, it wasn't

Speaker 2: something that it wasn't like unfixable, and they were able

Speaker 2: to pull up the backup power and get it turned on.

Speaker 2: And as soon as it gets turned on, and the

Speaker 2: tower immediately sets up a and sets up a link

Speaker 2: back to Earth and they and it establishes a communicat

Speaker 2: a call with the with the head of the Earth

Speaker 2: Security Forces. So remember from the last book, this New

Speaker 2: This New Director was pretty cutthroat, and she was the

Speaker 2: political rival of Petrova's mother and Petrov and she had

Speaker 2: done like something of she done something of a bit

Speaker 2: of a like a hostile takeover, ended up booting Petroova's

Speaker 2: mother out of the out of her seat and basically

Speaker 2: exiled her to Paradise one. And she reveals to her

Speaker 2: and this pretty much when she sees them, that sees

Speaker 2: that Petrova herself is still alive. Director was a bit

Speaker 2: surprised because mainly because she pretty much just sent her

Speaker 2: there to die. Sounds right now that the YEP, but

Speaker 2: now that they've set up a but now that they

Speaker 2: have established communications, she tells her about the Petrova tells

Speaker 2: her about the remnants and everything, and says that they
15:19
Speaker 2: need a media needed immediate extraction. But they have to
15:23
Speaker 2: be very careful because if they get too close to
15:26
Speaker 2: the planet then then the Vasilisk will take over their
15:30
Speaker 2: ship infect the crew with the little intrusive thought. Yeah,

Speaker 2: the little mind worm, and it can also affect the
15:41
Speaker 2: ship's AI and though, but though now that they have

Speaker 2: a bit of a understanding with the vasilist, they don't.

Speaker 2: She believes that it's not going to happen again, and

Speaker 2: she tells the director that they need immedia extraction, but

Speaker 2: the director tells her that no extraction is coming until
15:58
Speaker 2: they investigate what's going down on the minds. Because it's

Speaker 2: it hints that the director knows more about what's going

Speaker 2: on than she's letting on, like she's aware that there's

Speaker 2: something on the planet in fact that they were they

Speaker 2: were actually trying to look for it. It's hinted that

Speaker 2: they were actually looking for something on the planet because

Speaker 2: it's not gonna be because it's not gonna be revealed

Speaker 2: too much later. But it has something to do with

Speaker 2: that little control band that doctor Jang has on his arm. Yeah,

Speaker 2: either way, The director tells Petrova that they need to

Speaker 2: get to the mind and investigate what's there and retrieve

Speaker 2: what they were looking for.

Speaker 1: Of course, so not.

Speaker 2: Having to an extract will only come will not come

Speaker 2: until after they investigate it. And also the basketlist itself

Speaker 2: is starting to started to exert itself and push Petrova

Speaker 2: into going to investigate the mind because it also senses

Speaker 2: that that's probably where what it's also looking for the

Speaker 2: reason for its existence. Of course, because of course they go.

Speaker 2: And then this is where they begin their hike down

Speaker 2: the mountain and they start making their way to the

Speaker 2: to the mining camp. Now along the way they do encounter.

Speaker 2: They do encounter. They do find a shack, so someone

Speaker 2: definitely survived and had been and had been hiding out

Speaker 2: in this shack. They find a larger a three D

Speaker 2: printer and others and other supplies, and they also find

Speaker 2: that the shack is set up next to a river.

Speaker 2: And Rapscallion, who had taken scans of the surface of

Speaker 2: the planet, reveals that this river will take pretty much

Speaker 2: take them straight to the mines to the mining camp.

Speaker 2: So they decide to build a bit of a They

Speaker 2: decide to build a bit of a like kind of
17:49
Speaker 2: like a makeshift raft and just and just float down

Speaker 2: the river let the current of the river carry him down. Now,

Speaker 2: the river is pretty shallow and all but still uh

Speaker 2: but it's still fast enough for them to get to

Speaker 2: make some more progress. And at one point though, the

Speaker 2: river takes him into like a cave system and inside

Speaker 2: these cave the caves, they encounter more of the Revenants

Speaker 2: and they're barely able to escape, but they're rescued by

Speaker 2: a strange man kind of like a kind of like

Speaker 2: a like an older like grizzly kind of grizzled kind

Speaker 2: of guy, and he helped, He helps to he helps

Speaker 2: fight off the revenant and they're able to escape, and

Speaker 2: he leads them and he takes them to his quad

Speaker 2: copter and takes them away. At one point, uh Petrova

Speaker 2: ends up getting getting like getting injured, you know, her

Speaker 2: head gets bashing because of the rapids of the river

Speaker 2: knock her around a bit. But they're able to get

Speaker 2: but he's able to get them out to safety. He

Speaker 2: takes them back to another basically back to his uh
18:58
Speaker 2: to his own makes like current makeshifts like hide out

Speaker 2: and he explained and he explains in more detail of

Speaker 2: what happens. He had initially survived with his wife, but

Speaker 2: she ended up getting killed by the Revenants and he's

Speaker 2: been surviving ever since. And they tell him that they

Speaker 2: need to get to the mines, and while he's reluctant,

Speaker 2: he agrees to help them because they tell him that
19:24
Speaker 2: it's only that help is coming and they'll be able
19:26
Speaker 2: to finally get off the planet. So they load up

Speaker 2: the quad cockter. He flies them down to the to
19:32
Speaker 2: the mining camp. They investigate some more, find that there's

Speaker 2: no revenance around, but rapscallion now that he has a

Speaker 2: direct line to the communications tower. The communications the communications

Speaker 2: tower is able to communicate with the satellites in orbit,

Speaker 2: and they're able to get like more like to more
19:53
Speaker 2: like planetary scans, and they can see that the groups.

Speaker 2: They can actually see that the groups of revenant are

Speaker 2: the group of Revenant that had attacked them before is

Speaker 2: still making its way to the camp, but they have

Speaker 2: some time because they're basically taking the long way you

Speaker 2: have to go on foot. So and investigating further, they

Speaker 2: find that the mining camp basically had created a massive

Speaker 2: hole in the ground where they've been mining materials and

Speaker 2: digging straight down into the crust. So forget what it's called,

Speaker 2: but you know, basically it's like that giant mine in Russia,

Speaker 2: you know that one where they like dug a hole

Speaker 2: so big that it had that it's considered it's now

Speaker 2: no fly zone because if you fly over it, the

Speaker 2: updraft can like suck your plane right down so pretty

Speaker 2: much that so they get in, So they take the

Speaker 2: quad rather than like have to like hike all the

Speaker 2: way down to the bottom. They get into the quad

Speaker 2: copter and just straight down into the the very very

Speaker 2: bottom of the mind which goes from like this wide

Speaker 2: like funnel all the way down to like this narrow

Speaker 2: tube and the tube lead leads into another tunnel system.

Speaker 2: So after so after taking disembarking from the quad copter,

Speaker 2: they enter the tunnel and start following it using the

Speaker 2: map systems that using the maps that they got from

Speaker 2: the from the mining facility of facilities computers, and they

Speaker 2: find that the revenant had begun to dig off from

Speaker 2: the main tunnels, like something was compelling them to dig

Speaker 2: deeper into the into the earth. So they follow these

Speaker 2: tunnels until they find a massive cavernous room. And in

Speaker 2: this room is like like a series of stalactites and slagmites,

Speaker 2: and there was one big one in the center, and

Speaker 2: something was they could tell something was off about it.

Speaker 2: M hmm, because for one thing, it didn't look completely

Speaker 2: art it didn't look natural. It looks somewhat artificial, kind

Speaker 2: of like something like a pillar. And then the center

Speaker 2: of the pillar was a pearl shaped object. It was

Speaker 2: a pretty big object. But when they get a good

Speaker 2: when they get a good look at it, they realize

Speaker 2: that this is what the basilist was looking for.

Speaker 1: Of course, why would it not be.

Speaker 2: And in Petrova's mind, she can the basilist is like,

Speaker 2: it does have memories of its creators, and it does

Speaker 2: recognize that this is its creators, like making like something

Speaker 2: made this and it's something, and it's compelling her to

Speaker 2: like get closer, like what is it? Figure out what

Speaker 2: it is? Uh. They're forced to they're forced to retreat

Speaker 2: because the because the revenant begins to attack them again.
