- 0:45Welcome back to the boundary Corner podcast.
- 0:50My name is Curtis Wilson. I'm Brian siglo Roma, Thursday
- 0:55night, buddy. Just watch, the Hokies, Hang On,
- 0:58The Tight, one against VMI. Yeah, that was a lot closer than
- 1:07the experts thought. Yeah man.
- 1:09I mean E. Following up with a decisive win
- 1:19against UCF. It's like they just came out
- 1:21sleepwalking. Then height like almost into a l
- 1:25almost into an L. Yeah.
- 1:28Thankfully they were able to kind of get things together in
- 1:31the last six minutes. Get a little bit of a lead there
- 1:33and then hang on, I'll say this, as poorly as they shot, this
- 1:39would have been a loss last year.
- 1:41So all things considered You know, a wins a win is a win, but
- 1:49a win is a win. Yeah, the players are going to
- 1:53be probably get it in the locker room right now the players
- 1:57because the next game is what not until next Thursday against?
- 2:02I think this is yeah, this is going to be a come back out to
- 2:05the court and let's run some, some gassers.
- 2:09All there's going to be gassers tonight tomorrow and Saturday
- 2:13the game is Tuesday. So there Going to run some
- 2:15lines, boys. We're going to run some lines.
- 2:17Let's pick up the lines but after the huge win, over the
- 2:21weekend, ranked 16th in the country.
- 2:25They've already at four wins their matching, the football
- 2:27team's total. Hey, hey, but, you know, teams
- 2:34looking better. Like, what you said, game like
- 2:37this last year, they lose this year, they win without one of
- 2:43the, you know, out without one of the Players today in all men.
- 2:50Why my my blank and Dora Dora was right?
- 2:54If you are without yeah, yeah. I was up.
- 2:57And, you know, you take a look at, you know, the first couple
- 3:00games, like, against against South Florida, you know, Daria
- 3:05had 10 coming off the bench in 16 minutes and then obviously,
- 3:10you know, against Villanova, you know, with that big win.
- 3:16It's another, it's another thing.
- 3:17He comes off the bench, you know, shot terribly, but having
- 3:22somebody like that come off, the bench of Juneau can get to
- 3:24double digits and provide quality minutes changes, the
- 3:28roof, take James. The big thing is that you get
- 3:31somebody that can take people off the dribble and score in the
- 3:34paint. Yep.
- 3:36But also a high quality ball handler.
- 3:39Even if he's not out there shooting at a high percentage,
- 3:42having a guy like that on the floor to come in for.
- 3:44Idioms and things like that when we need to is going to be big
- 3:48for this team, where you don't quite see, as much of that type
- 3:52of drop off. Even if he's not necessarily the
- 3:56shooter that that he liked to be, he's definitely the leader
- 4:00on the court there and having somebody else that they can take
- 4:02over some of that responsibility when BT heads to the bench is
- 4:06Big, it's true. But at least tonight, Jake only
- 4:09got some playing time. I mean only three points in 14
- 4:12minutes but obviously, you know, I'm coming back.
- 4:15Getting him into the rotation. When you don't have another guy
- 4:19that's going to be there, you know, that kind of stinks
- 4:23because Mi kyung is still going to have to figure out this
- 4:25rotation once he has everybody healthy.
- 4:28Hopefully. But again when as a win, yep
- 4:33boys, don't play until next. Tuesday night will definitely be
- 4:35keeping an eye on that game and talking about it next Thursday.
- 4:40But Brian, let's get into some hokey headlines.
- 4:44Let's It was probably the biggest football wise being a
- 4:48former for Star Quarterback Elite 11 Prospect Quincy
- 4:52Patterson has gone through the portal, kind of a kind of hurts
- 4:57the heart. It hurts the heart, man, big
- 5:00time. You know, we talked about guys
- 5:05that are like Hokies in like through and through and this was
- 5:09one of the guys that were talking about team player.
- 5:12Waited some time here behind other other guy.
- 5:14Guys to get an opportunity just never came to fruition.
- 5:18Wish he would have at least been given situational packages to
- 5:22really show what he could do. Ultimately, that didn't happen
- 5:26and you know, we got another good one in the portal now which
- 5:32is going to probably be a big topic going forward.
- 5:37Especially if things happen at the coaching position or even
- 5:41more. So even if things don't happen
- 5:43at the, at the Appears. So it will be interesting to see
- 5:47what goes forward and we're Quincy ends up Landing wish him
- 5:51nothing but the best and we'll definitely keep an eye on what
- 5:55he does going forward because, you know, he laid it out there
- 5:59for the Hokies and I mean, everything considered will
- 6:02always have that UNC gay man. Will always have the UNC game,
- 6:07will always have the what if it the Notre Dame game, where a
- 6:10perfect plan was laid out for him.
- 6:12He executed it, flawlessly that That day.
- 6:16But now it's one of those things where okay, if things are going
- 6:21the way we feel, it's going which we're not going to retain.
- 6:24The coach will. The next guy is he going to be a
- 6:28Quincy type quarterback where he's in the portal, you're still
- 6:32recruiting guys to her in the portal, but it's not get that
- 6:35Twisted especially one who still has three years of Eligibility
- 6:39left. So, you know, maybe that's what
- 6:43maybe it doesn't. Maybe it doesn't, you know, it's
- 6:46hard to tell at this point, it doesn't seem like this was a,
- 6:51I've got a problem with Coach Fuente situation, it was it
- 6:55seemed to be very much a I want to go somewhere where I can be
- 6:59on the field. That's really the long and short
- 7:03of it, I know him, I know there are programs out there that if I
- 7:10walked, and I'd be their best quarterback on their rocker, and
- 7:13I would start and it's hard. For him to get better if he's,
- 7:16you know, fluctuating between 2nd and 3rd string on, you know,
- 7:20a team that didn't have an offseason, he's not getting
- 7:22enough reps to get better. No, not at all about time.
- 7:26I totally get it from his perspective.
- 7:28Best of luck doing if he comes back, that'd be great.
- 7:31If not, definitely, wherever he goes, keep an eye on and all
- 7:35right. Behind big news to drop today
- 7:37was the essentially the athletic department cut where, you know,
- 7:42like / Andy bitter. They're looking at this going to
- 7:44help them say about 15 million to offset losses from the
- 7:47pandemic. You know, anybody making over
- 7:50what 115,000 or taking a 10%, cut, anybody making above 40.
- 7:55It's going to be kind of a graduated scale of cuts there
- 7:57are going to be Holly layoffs. But what happened today is
- 8:05people are getting operational costs.
- 8:10Mixed up with contract full costs, and it is a really
- 8:15irritate me. It's been frustrating.
- 8:17Now, I'll add a caveat to that. If you're sitting there saying,
- 8:24big, donors that are chipping in for these contractual
- 8:27obligations. Are willing to do that.
- 8:31Maybe they should be willing to cover whatever budget shortfall
- 8:37and I'm like, we still can't even go that route because you
- 8:42got to separate them and I get Optics or bad.
- 8:44If you say you've got to, you know, take a pay cut but we're
- 8:49going to pay this guy 10 million just to walk out the door, I get
- 8:52the Optics or bit but at the same time you're losing money on
- 8:57this thing regardless because the law Longer.
- 9:00You hang on, to coach Fuente, the fewer donor dollars are
- 9:03coming in. The fewer people are showing up
- 9:05to Lane Stadium, hopefully next year when Lane stadium is having
- 9:09fans again. It's at some point you just got
- 9:14to say Well, you're not if you're not cutting the mustard,
- 9:18you got to go exactly as you're costing, whatever it costs on
- 9:23the front end to get rid of them.
- 9:25It's going to be cost on the backend.
- 9:27Hang on to him. Exactly a financial analyst will
- 9:30tell you in this situation, you've got to cut him.
- 9:33You're not doing anything but hurting yourself in the three to
- 9:36five-year game. Because as we have slowly
- 9:40started to learn about this payout, we're slowly kind of
- 9:44figuring out, kind of Through the Grapevine and people, you
- 9:47know, say how these things work. This isn't a one-time till
- 9:52million-dollar shot this over the course of the next four to
- 9:56five years. So let's think about it like
- 10:00that. And you know something that was
- 10:02set on take sidelines of me and Brian agree with the 100% if you
- 10:07don't fire them. And way, it looks like what
- 10:11we're going to talk about playing Clemson the day.
- 10:12UVA next week, this 58,000 was the average seats.
- 10:16Last year, you lose five thousand people.
- 10:19It's two to three million dollars in Revenue.
- 10:22That right there tells you, you got to fire him for that because
- 10:25you can keep him. We're your new coach.
- 10:29There's always usually a bump now.
- 10:31Don't get it twisted. Brian be a heck of a lot easier.
- 10:37Nobody's going to Lane stadium for meeting you to cop tickets
- 10:39for really cheap tickets. Not very expensive.
- 10:48Oh we're saving us money honey. Don't worry.
- 10:51Yeah. But won't that we're fans of the
- 10:54program, we wanted to a point where we can't find tickets like
- 10:59the only way you guarantee to take it is to get season
- 11:02tickets. So so again contractual versus
- 11:12operational or two different pools, there's everybody get
- 11:17that two different pools. Do not do not try to say they're
- 11:25one in the same. They're not money.
- 11:27Is allocated differently. Yep.
- 11:30What they're saying with the donors giving the money for the
- 11:32by of there? Basically.
- 11:33Saying we're giving you a clean slate here over here.
- 11:36You figure it out. Now what could potentially
- 11:38happen? Brian.
- 11:41Is, we could go to the board of visitors in the president.
- 11:44Say hey, we've got some shortfalls here.
- 11:48Is there any way the university could help us out?
- 11:53So what we'll see, that's an option in.
- 11:56I mean, when we talk about operations budget, we talk about
- 11:59the contractual terms of of our coaches here.
- 12:03We've always got to look at it from a big picture perspective.
- 12:06You've got to do what is right for the long-term health of your
- 12:11program. And I get the crunch is happen,
- 12:16but crunches are going to happen regardless.
- 12:18At some point, you've got to keep moving forward and your
- 12:22hope is with this is you rebound.
- 12:28Quick enough for the two of lost jobs, they can get rehired.
- 12:33Yeah. Who have taken significant
- 12:36salary Cuts, they can get back where they were, that's what we
- 12:40hope. But let's move on.
- 12:42Braun actually some good. News this week, but hooky
- 12:45football program. What set wins out of Salem, High
- 12:51School, Jordan and James McDonald.
- 12:55Commit to the Hokies program which is wins.
- 12:58Basile twins. Now, they're not the most help,
- 13:04guys, but physical was, I mean, you couldn't ask for him.
- 13:09Two more kids coming out of high school.
- 13:11I mean, j63, 218 Jordans like 64 220, you know, specimens.
- 13:19Some people say and I don't know if you've had a chance to look
- 13:23at their tape but you know, we have People like well they're
- 13:25not dominating like they should I don't know enough about Salem
- 13:28of what they're running that maybe they're not allowed to be
- 13:31dominant but either way, you know we got two in the door and
- 13:38you kind of Wonder. Okay, are these going to be
- 13:41compatible offers potentially in two weeks?
- 13:45That's the piece that's going to be interesting.
- 13:47Once, whatever happens with the coach situation shakes out.
- 13:51But, you know, we get, we get a flip here, two weeks before, you
- 13:56know, potentially A major shift in the direction of our program
- 14:01happens. You know I don't know what to
- 14:04make of that. I don't know if that if that
- 14:07says Jordan and Jay are going to be coming to Blacksburg as long
- 14:12as they're a take regardless of who the coach is maybe you know
- 14:18they figure they might as well say they're it take now before
- 14:21the change happens because it's easier to You know just go ahead
- 14:25and rubber stamp the fact that you have a decent class in a
- 14:28transition year than it is to say.
- 14:30We don't want you walking lie because I think there's still
- 14:34going to be some room in the boat.
- 14:36You know, once if that regime change happens because you got
- 14:39to expect probably at least three to four of our more High
- 14:44three guys are probably going to True change their their their
- 14:51Direction. They're so, they're probably
- 14:53going to be about five or six spots open for the next coaching
- 14:57staff even with Jay and Jordan in the boat.
- 15:00So it'll be interesting to see what, what they end up doing
- 15:05with that. But I mean, I looked at them a
- 15:07little bit. I mean, they're definitely big
- 15:09guys. I don't think they're both of
- 15:11them play Corner. One of them plays both ways at
- 15:13wide receiver. So you know they've got Fascism
- 15:18for their size. I think they'd project more
- 15:20probably, you know, Rover or or even in some cases backer okay
- 15:28versus cornerback that they played in high school.
- 15:31But yeah, I mean, I could see them them being used.
- 15:34They definitely have seeing them play Corner.
- 15:36They've definitely got enough speed at that size to be a j,
- 15:42Hamm system style linebacker. Compared to some of the guys
- 15:47that we have on the Oster right now.
- 15:48So there's some you know, promise there but in terms of
- 15:52that it's very much a there to kind of project players but I
- 15:57think with the with the year to kind of getting their bodies,
- 16:02right? Not size-wise but just defining
- 16:06it in learning how to play with that size better.
- 16:09I think they will. The potentially Make Some Noise?
- 16:13I'll say one thing about if there is the regime change as we
- 16:17Feel in the air. It's going to happen.
- 16:20If your new coaching you walk in, just hold on.
- 16:23A you have. And why I say that is you sell
- 16:27to the kids that list obviously being recruited at a high level?
- 16:31You have a lot of offers, you think about this, we start
- 16:35getting into it this time. Next year, you don't feel like
- 16:39it's working out. You know what you can do
- 16:41transfer portal, go wherever you need to go.
- 16:44We can't hold him back w point. So yeah, now we're on something
- 16:49real quick before we couple real quick things before we get into
- 16:53what we're doing. Wait ACC football week or this
- 16:58week has said not as enough Notre Dame your ampionship
- 17:02cornfield. If you needed me to take that at
- 17:04a year in the championship. If you lose, you gotta play next
- 17:07week. Miami, you've got to win
- 17:08back-to-back weeks. I'm fine with it.
- 17:12You don't know why. What's up?
- 17:15It goes like we think it's going to go.
- 17:17Virginia Tech going to be a lot more money for those groupings
- 17:20being in the playoffs because Notre Dame won't.
- 17:22Yeah it is true man. It is very true and I'm fine
- 17:28with it as well. Be ACC is making a good play SEC
- 17:32bitching about it which is funny.
- 17:36It's like y'all are playing the same number games.
- 17:39Yeah. Kind of screwing them for what
- 17:54the SEC did the ACC. Hey, 10 games, our goal is to
- 17:57keep our rivalries and there's these like now we're just
- 17:59completing conference, we're cool.
- 18:02They're about to get ran because I think we both see probably
- 18:07what could happen a couple weeks from now in the ACC Championship
- 18:10game. One last thing, Brian both.
- 18:13The near and dear to both of our hearts Hardy would the fighting
- 18:19Hokies logger. The fighting Hokies logger, man.
- 18:24I am. I'm pretty pumped about this.
- 18:26Looks like it's supposed to come out sometime in the spring of
- 18:2821. Yeah, I will be copying me.
- 18:32Several six-packs initially, 100%.
- 18:37What do you, what do you think of the, the can design all of
- 18:40them can designs. So the old school.
- 18:42Yeah it's the 1980s fighting hook.
- 18:44You Birdman find gobblers. It's an awesome can design.
- 18:48It's awesome that essentially Virginia Tech's.
- 18:52HR department is essentially creating what it's going to
- 18:56taste, like what's going to brew it here and let's hope a wet if
- 19:02you're listening. This is what should only be sold
- 19:07inside Lane stadium inside inside ins IDE.
- 19:14Yeah, it's a simple fact of be, you're helping a, you're
- 19:21helping, not only your school because they designed it, you're
- 19:24helping a state, you know, business that, you know, one of
- 19:30the more one of the better rain here and it's here in our VA.
- 19:34Make that and you're helping your Stadium bottom line after
- 19:37having to cut budgets because beer has a higher margin.
- 19:44Then other things that you sell in your concessions.
- 19:47Damn hard. All right, folks, we've gotten
- 19:52here for the fourth nine weeks of the Season, we have done, no,
- 19:59the enemy? Well, me and mr.
- 20:01Siegel, oh, we were talking last week after We recorded and me
- 20:05and him just said Brian, if anybody doesn't know the enemy
- 20:08of Clemson, they're really not paying attention to any
- 20:11Collegiate football. Yep.
- 20:13At this point. You know who these guys are,
- 20:17you've seen them play, you seen them play in prime time, you
- 20:23know, their coaching staff, you know, their key players, you
- 20:27know what type of system generally that they run, you
- 20:31know what to look for. So we're not going to to
- 20:34patronize you and break down a team that you probably have at
- 20:38least a working grasp on what they're going to do and how
- 20:41they're going to do it. Yeah, so what we were sitting
- 20:44here we're just we're hitting around a few ideas like how can
- 20:47we do this? And we kind of stumbled upon.
- 20:51I want to say stumble but I kind of said, hey Brian, if we win
- 20:56this game What's the score going to be in?
- 20:59Brian told me what he thought. Here's what we've got to.
- 21:01Here's the school, we got to have to win.
- 21:04And I'm kind of threw back to Brown.
- 21:05I said, Brian, let's reverse engineer this bad boy.
- 21:09Let's start with the final score.
- 21:11Let's go down. Fourth quarter, third quarter
- 21:142nd quarter, 1st quarter, essentially paint the picture.
- 21:19While giving some analysis, giving some breakdown of what
- 21:22has to happen to pull the upset as now, I think it's 22 and a
- 21:28half, is the lines of moved up and overthrow over three score
- 21:35line here. Biggest line since with 91-92
- 21:40Nottingham steam thrown around there.
- 21:42So Florida, State biggest line in Lane Stadium since 88 West.
- 21:49Nia or 89 West Virginia, which I think that's the year.
- 21:52They upset West Virginia was like Tiffany country and they
- 21:55upset them that here. I'd have to go back one of those
- 21:59years would major can't remember last last name West Virginia was
- 22:03a quarterback. I was a pup but you study the
- 22:06history so that's what we're going to do.
- 22:09So Brian drumroll please after me and you sitting here going
- 22:14back and forth for about 10 minutes.
- 22:17Will repeat Echo keys to win, Saturday night, 30 degrees.
- 22:21It's going to be cold but I still think this number holds
- 22:24true. We believe it has to be 4441,
- 22:32Virginia Tech. All right again, folks, this is
- 22:37the perfect game. This is not a prediction.
- 22:39Yes, this is. If we want to win this football
- 22:43game, what's the likely final score?
- 22:47And that's where do I think it's?
- 22:49I think, in order for us to win this game, it's going to be a
- 22:51tight, 4441 Victory, by the Hokies.
- 22:56All right, so let's start the fourth quarter.
- 22:59Again, this is reverse engineering, because we've got a
- 23:01back into, we're kind of starting at the finished product
- 23:05and how we get there. The first thing, me and Brian
- 23:07talked about. Okay, Brian.
- 23:09If we're going to the fourth quarter, we have to have A six
- 23:13or seven point lead. So going into 4th, we're sitting
- 23:16here, going back and forth. We feel like it's got to be 3731
- 23:22going into the fourth quarter. Yep.
- 23:24Start of the fourth quarter were up a touchdown.
- 23:26We'll just let just under touchdown six-point lead, 3731,
- 23:33you know, that, that feels That's about as close as I feel
- 23:38like we could get there. I think the fourth quarter is
- 23:41going to be relatively low. Scoring us trying to hang on and
- 23:46that point and Clemson trying to knock us out late.
- 23:52He's got thrown, they're trying to throw some Haymakers while
- 23:55we're trying to have some long positions.
- 23:57Yeah. Couple things we we hit on and
- 24:02what we feel, like if we've got that lead and we've got that six
- 24:04seven point lead to win the fourth quarter, five possessions
- 24:10if we start creeping in the six seven and eight they will
- 24:13overtake us. Yep.
- 24:15At that point you know the the Trevor Lawrence has and the
- 24:20Travis ET ends of the world are going to let their talent take
- 24:23over and it could be ugly. We need To limit the number of
- 24:31possessions in that quarter, only give them a few chances to
- 24:34score two at the most. We also feel like to win this
- 24:39quarter, we need to have at least 15 minute plus drive.
- 24:43We need to, at least eat a third whether this results touchdown,
- 24:49fourth down, we give it back to him, but we're deep or we Pooch
- 24:53punt. We've got to have at least one
- 24:56time, eating Drive nebran, couple big things.
- 25:01You talked about to me was Personnel groupings in this last
- 25:04quarter. What you want to see what you
- 25:06feel? Like we have to see to win this
- 25:07game. Yeah, I think in the fourth
- 25:11quarter you're going to see a lot of 11 and 12 Personnel.
- 25:14I think we're going to lean on the running game some but we're
- 25:17still going to try to get that intermediate passing game going
- 25:20to move those sticks a little bit because we're going to need
- 25:23to sustained drives keep Clemson off the field and eat as much
- 25:28clock as possible. Now, the other piece was we
- 25:32can't have any turnovers with the one-point lead again with
- 25:35their offense. This has got to be a quarter
- 25:37where we have to play protection of the football.
- 25:43And then there's the other piece that this is also a quarter.
- 25:47As you guys are going to see. This is a quarter, we can't give
- 25:50up junk please. No, you know you want to About
- 25:55getting 25, keeping it at five possessions, if they give chunk,
- 25:57play 40 50 yards, flipped field, get a touchdown that would fall
- 26:02apart this quarter perfectly Brian.
- 26:06What's the one thing? We've not been good at that.
- 26:08You feel if in the third fourth quarter, we can do we have a
- 26:12chance to hang on. If we can convert on third down,
- 26:16we have a chance here in the fourth quarter, to close it out,
- 26:20and we haven't done it well all season, and we definitely I'm
- 26:24not done it well recently, but if we can do that, that gives
- 26:30our offense more time on the field keeps their offense off
- 26:33the field and gives our defense a chance to rest to be able to
- 26:38go out there when when Clemson's offense does take the field back
- 26:42and you know have enough energy to slow them down.
- 26:45So yeah. All feeds off there and I think
- 26:48also I mean just to kind of put a put a bow on this, this
- 26:52quarter are Defense. Probably needs to force one.
- 26:55Turnover. Yep, it's true.
- 27:00If you if we if we force the turnover again after a long
- 27:03drive. Again, if y'all listen we're
- 27:07about to give you hear what we gave you the final score.
- 27:10We're anticipating them scoring several times in this quarter.
- 27:15But if you get the turnover involved in there.
- 27:18Yep. That's they get three
- 27:20possessions. You get a field goal of
- 27:22touchdown in the turnover as long as you score once in there.
- 27:25You're golden exactly. All right, so there's your
- 27:30fourth quarter, if it's perfect. Now, let's go to the third
- 27:34quarter, and again we're starting beginning of the
- 27:39quarter with the score is getting into it.
- 27:44Brian. Go ahead and give the t's first.
- 27:47Yeah. All right.
- 27:49So we need to be kicking off to start the third quarter because
- 27:54we need to take the damn ball to start the game.
- 27:57So that's I'm teasing that we need to be aggressive with our
- 28:00decisions in this game. Both from a coaching perspective
- 28:04and a play-calling perspective. So we need, we need to take the
- 28:08ball. And so if we took the ball to
- 28:10start the game, that means we should be kicking off to start
- 28:12third quarter and We said, we thought.
- 28:16You know, 2417 to start the third quarter sounds about,
- 28:20right? Yep 2417 Again, we're having to
- 28:26hold the lead any point in time. In this game, this cannot be
- 28:312016 in the ACC Championship. We're not that kind of team with
- 28:37the kind of players or the kind of defense that can hold.
- 28:41You know the downhill stuff. So you know if you tell us where
- 28:48we went down, early a lot then the perfect games out of the
- 28:50way, so we can't do it. But if we can get the lead, it's
- 28:53big now on this one, there is couple things we're going to hit
- 29:01on first. This is where it kind of begins.
- 29:05This is the quarter where the defense has to start.
- 29:08Really kind of more tightening up.
- 29:12One play a 40 or more yards. We've already said in the fourth
- 29:16quarter, give up any this quarter you can't give up but
- 29:19one now the other piece is you're going to see what we're
- 29:26talking about in the first half, we have to get a little less
- 29:28aggressive on defense, start playing off again with the lead.
- 29:33But the clock be their enemy. Yep.
- 29:36We've already, we've already kind of outlined here.
- 29:38We're anticipating them. Scoring 2 times 14 points in
- 29:42this quarter. The thing is make them work
- 29:45towards that make them work towards that.
- 29:48We've also shown at this point, both teams are scoring on
- 29:51offense, as long as we can not have those killer drives or we
- 29:55don't, you know, match to them. I think we're going to be okay
- 29:59there. I think all fensively we're
- 30:02going to need to get Blackshear involved in the passing game in
- 30:07the set. I mean in that means from the
- 30:09slot position or from the wing position, not As a spell back, I
- 30:17think at this point Blackshear is capable in that role but he
- 30:21is not that should not be as defined role in this offense.
- 30:25I think Holston does a better job as a true spell back to
- 30:29Khalil Herbert. I think Blackshear is more of a
- 30:31true Gadget, Swiss army, knife offensive weapon.
- 30:36We haven't been using him as such this entire season.
- 30:39Pretty much. We need to begin right now if
- 30:43Buddy has any plays that can get this man, the football and
- 30:47space, they need to throw them at Clemson.
- 30:51Tommy Clemson, put them on the spreadsheet, in a lot of places
- 30:56those when we put it in the third quarter, also in this
- 31:08quarter Brian's calling for a lot of 11 personnel.
- 31:11So we're going to see very little of Gallow.
- 31:14I want Blackshear and Herbert or Holston on the field.
- 31:18Every type of time essentially Blackshear needs to be out there
- 31:21along with whatever other wide receiver grouping along with
- 31:25Mitchell. now, something else we sort of felt on this quarter is
- 31:33this is probably going to be the quarter where because you played
- 31:37the well, the first two quarters, you can handle an
- 31:40onslaught We feel like this is where if they were to come out
- 31:45and go bang, bang, Take the Lead, we cook a couple field
- 31:47goals, it's not out the mindset, we're with them, we're taking
- 31:52their best punches, and one of those momentum swinging things.
- 31:56We feel that really needs to happen is Sometime Late in the
- 32:00third quarter. Retake the lead taking a couple
- 32:06pay makers to the face and got a knockdown take getting back the
- 32:11lead late in this quarter and essentially them starting the
- 32:16ball going into the fourth quarter.
- 32:18Yes, actually it's saying we've had the lead because of how we
- 32:22jumped out on you. You were able to counter punch a
- 32:25little bit and we've shown that we're not backing down.
- 32:29We're right back at it and that's that's the tone we want
- 32:33to set moving from third back into the forest so that I feel
- 32:35like that's what that's what we need to close out.
- 32:38The third would be a touchdown to retake the lead heading into
- 32:40the fourth quarter. Absolutely alright.
- 32:43So back up again, let's get into the second quarter now some
- 32:49people listening to this are probably like what were you guys
- 32:53on when y'all came up with this concept?
- 32:55Ha ha ha. This is why it's a lot of fun
- 33:12because there's things were looking at to say this, is how
- 33:15we get here and you got a awkward.
- 33:17So second quarter, this is the one where we kind of argued a
- 33:21little bit and we kind of said this if we can go into the
- 33:26second quarter with a 14-7, Like if we can hold Mighty Clemson to
- 33:31one touchdown in the first quarter.
- 33:34It's going to be really big. Now we are unrealistic, but this
- 33:40is going to be a quarter, five, six, maybe even seven
- 33:42possessions because obviously we've already told y'all.
- 33:47We're at 24 Barrett 17. So we're seeing a couple
- 33:51possessions where we feel like can be scored in here.
- 33:53And guys what we're trying to talk about here with the
- 33:56possessions is that to win this game, even with the high scoring
- 34:00Affair, we kind of have it as we still need to limit the
- 34:04Possessions, the more possessions in this game, the
- 34:06worse, it will be for us much worse.
- 34:09It'll be for us. They have the kind of offense
- 34:12that the more chances you get them.
- 34:15The more like that's why we're kind of harping on this.
- 34:20Now, we've talked about chunk please, right?
- 34:24Yeah, I've heard is that can't have any in the fourth, can give
- 34:27up a minimum. Me and Brian's.
- 34:30This is the one, this is the quarter.
- 34:31We're expecting, you can give up three or more big plays, but you
- 34:40can't let all you can't. Let three go for a touchdown.
- 34:44You got to let them go deep but you got to stop them.
- 34:48Yeah, I mean you got to let him go D but only one of those big
- 34:51chunk plays can go for a touchdown, otherwise you need to
- 34:55stop them where they kick a field goal to get their 10
- 34:57points for the quarter or force a turnover or a punt on those
- 35:02other professionals. We know it stops.
- 35:18You look that we need to open up a couple of things.
- 35:22Yeah, I think we for our offense I'd like to see us run a lot of
- 35:25our Po and screen in this quarter.
- 35:30I'd like to see anything that's not a screen pass.
- 35:34Be targeting. Kind of the 15 to 20 yard range.
- 35:38Maybe even more than that. Stretching their defense a
- 35:41little bit. I'd like to see some Fades and
- 35:44post, some seems push the ball. If you push the ball with, this
- 35:48should be the push, the ball period, and because we're
- 35:51running it with our po. That should slow down the rush a
- 35:54little bit and it should also help the running game.
- 35:58You get some fits there because they're having to think about
- 36:01the run in the past, on each play there.
- 36:04So, that's what I would do in an attack standpoint there
- 36:08defensively. I think this is where you, you
- 36:11Blitz, heavy. You make Trevor Lawrence have to
- 36:13think faster than he wants to or take a sack.
- 36:18Absolutely. We're if you'll notice we talked
- 36:21about in the first in the latter half of the game.
- 36:25It's almost like we're not going to be as aggressive.
- 36:28Here's where we need to be aggressive because if we have
- 36:31that lead it's essentially what Brian just said, make them have
- 36:35to speed up their decision-making.
- 36:38And you know what? We've already kind of accounted
- 36:40for. We're going to get deep deep
- 36:42this quarter, but at least what you can hopefully do is you get
- 36:46a sack they're 30. Five-yard gain.
- 36:48Well, you know what? It was second and 16 because we
- 36:51had a huge sack, they did not gain big game but not as much as
- 36:56it could be. Now something else Brian and I'm
- 37:00going to kind of reference to you on this.
- 37:03You kind of mentioned. If we can get in this quarter
- 37:06with a lead about managing our emotions.
- 37:08What do you mean by that? Elaborate a little more.
- 37:13So there's a difference between that momentum And in a field
- 37:18where you're playing over your skis a little bit.
- 37:23Yeah, I've been in games where you jump out to a big lead and a
- 37:28lot of things, go your way and you take your eye off the ball.
- 37:31And all of a sudden things are not so pretty anymore.
- 37:35We've seen some of those gains from the Hokies.
- 37:38I mean we help. Let's think about even last
- 37:41year. I mean the Miami game.
- 37:42That's one. Where who?
- 37:45Yeah, we let a team that had the ability Ability to get back,
- 37:49crawl back in a game that we should have put away a lot
- 37:52sooner because we let we did manage our emotions very well.
- 37:57Danny like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:02You got to be able to manage your emotions.
- 38:04So in this case, what I mean is that You've taken some Haymakers
- 38:09from from Clemson but you're on defense to close the have
- 38:14they've got the ball, don't give them a lead going into halftime
- 38:20phone. Do something dumb third down.
- 38:22Make this stop, don't throw a late, hit, you know, if the guys
- 38:27beating you by all means, in some cases.
- 38:31Let it, let it. Let him show.
- 38:33You can beat you don't just get, right?
- 38:35Give the passing of Courage because your In the drive,
- 38:38you're giving them more time. All right, so we finally backed
- 38:43it all the way up to the first quarter.
- 38:46All the way up to the first quarter.
- 38:49Ryan has alluded to it and I have a feeling Brian.
- 38:55If we don't do this in the first quarter, actually even before
- 39:01the quarter begins you, that hand, you got in your hand that
- 39:05Hamm's beer, you have in your hand.
- 39:07I hope you're nowhere near your TV.
- 39:11Yeah, we better take the damn ball if we win the toss, if we
- 39:14don't, I will go ahead and save the game.
- 39:16Is over at that moment. The perfect game plan is already
- 39:21out of the window. Yep, which one paid?
- 39:23We're going to the second half. You're going to give that the
- 39:27ball. First that?
- 39:31No, guys, we don't want this momentum.
- 39:33You have it. We are we have nothing to do
- 39:37with this. Alright so next piece in the
- 39:41first half is similar to our fourth quarter, but for a
- 39:44different reason, Who We Are? As a team is, we are still a
- 39:50ground and pound tight team. We have a very good offensive
- 39:54line, it'll probably be the second-best that Clemson a scene
- 39:58off. You may be the best, you can
- 40:00argue between us and Notre. Dame, both are very highly rated
- 40:03and PFF but this possession quarter is got to be about five,
- 40:07it's got to be a low possession quarter, what Brian has already
- 40:11stated take the ball? Long drive long.
- 40:16Let me get a 12 13, play drive here, give me a lot of runs.
- 40:20Give me some intermediate passes.
- 40:22Give me 12 Personnel. We haven't talked about that a
- 40:25lot lately. I've been thinking more 11 as we
- 40:28go along here. Spreading them out a little bit
- 40:31but out the gate I'd like to see some 12 using the Run game, the
- 40:35intermediate passing game, some of those tight in Throwbacks and
- 40:38stuff like that to get, get some plays and get us some first
- 40:41downs. Some stick moving plays.
- 40:44You know, we're at the point where we want to make the drive
- 40:49long and get seven points. Don't settle for 3 at this
- 40:53point. So close.
- 40:55So what Brian's also saying is if we're inside the 30, third
- 41:00and six, You better be a to play, thought you're not going
- 41:05to beat them with field goals all night.
- 41:07Do I have to run the, if you run QB power on third down, you
- 41:11better be prepared to run on fourth down as well.
- 41:14We're buying them or do something on fourth down.
- 41:16You better go for it. But I'll go run, third down,
- 41:19power on third long, and not go for it on Fourth.
- 41:23And then, well, I will, I will throw things at the television.
- 41:26I have no qualms, well, We have to in some way, slow them down,
- 41:39whether it be turnover, forcing a punt turnover on Downs, their
- 41:44first drive, cannot result in points.
- 41:48I think I'll feel is if their first drive, you know goes into
- 41:52points. If the first drive goes into
- 41:55points in the next two they get nothing.
- 41:57Okay, I can deal with that. We can live with it but we're
- 42:00saying yeah I wouldn't take it to score lead.
- 42:02I want to be up, 14, nothing on them, and make them have to do
- 42:05something. Different is.
- 42:08Then we, then we're dictating terms, we're making them, have
- 42:11to come up with stuff on the Fly and as much as some stuff on the
- 42:16Fly, you haven't practiced it. Neither of they.
- 42:19So, Yep, there we have it. Now if Brian mentioned is, we
- 42:26need to see juice Herbert early, get to 20 plus charred gains on
- 42:31outside Zone plays again, establishing.
- 42:33The run is kind of what we flip, what we want to do in the second
- 42:36quarter as we will always want to do in the third quarter.
- 42:41But then Brian, what we kind of said in the second quarter when
- 42:46we were when we were reverse doing this, you said it has to
- 42:48come out like this with the defense.
- 42:50Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I want to see them
- 42:52aggressive. I mean, I want to see them
- 42:55blitzing. I want to see them playing a
- 42:57little bit more man outside, and just kind of saying we're not
- 43:02going to let you run the ball with etn all day Trevor.
- 43:05You're going to have to take a couple shots and you're going
- 43:07to, you're going to have to hit them, make them hit him.
- 43:10Don't don't let this be a death by a thousand little paper cuts.
- 43:14Because I mean, they will carve us up with six and eight yard
- 43:18runs and eight to 12 yard pass. Is all day.
- 43:21Don't let that happen. That's not a game.
- 43:24I want to see that's a game that I will just be frustrated from
- 43:29start to finish if I'm seeing that on the defense all day.
- 43:32So, you know, I know we're playing a different style now,
- 43:36but we need some aggression against this team, because they
- 43:39will carve you up. They have all the talent in the
- 43:42world. They have the best quarterback
- 43:44in the country. They have the best running back
- 43:46in the country. They have a very good offensive
- 43:48line between Rogers and Powell and other weapons.
- 43:55They can do it all. Yep.
- 43:57So, you know, the other last piece is we expect probably a
- 44:03chunk play a couple chunk plays in this quarter, but only one
- 44:09can go deep for a touchdown. If multiple, if you got within
- 44:12the first quarter, they pop a 50-yard run.
- 44:15In a 50-yarder pass, slow the drinking down because by the end
- 44:20of the game will be really angry because they going to get
- 44:23pretty. So that's our reverse
- 44:26engineering. For the Hokies to win. 4441 we
- 44:31just laid out from the fourth quarter back down to the first,
- 44:33what has to happen? There are times we need to be
- 44:36aggressive. There are times we need to be
- 44:39You know, sort of passive on defense and the same with
- 44:42offense. It's got to be a mixture.
- 44:45I feel like we need to be aggressive early in a little
- 44:47more Bend. Don't break late because as the
- 44:50game goes along, we can afford field goals.
- 44:53We can't afford touched it. Absolutely.
- 44:55Alright so after all that brawn, Let's go to our predictions.
- 45:00Before we talk about who gets to 25.
- 45:06As much as I want to see a perfect game plan right now.
- 45:11With the way, the coaching staff is having some guys opt out.
- 45:16I just can't, I can't see it. I think will be competitive.
- 45:21I don't think we'll get our doors blown off.
- 45:23I don't think, you know, it's going to be 35 3 at halftime, I
- 45:28think they probably get up a couple scores early and they
- 45:33Maintain that 20. I would say lay the points
- 45:40because I feel like this is a 21-point game, but at 22 and a
- 45:45half, that's where it's getting sketchy because my prediction is
- 45:48I'm going to say, Clemson goes 45.
- 45:52Virginia Tech goes 20, yoga your about in the same range.
- 45:59I am. I've got Clemson 45, Virginia
- 46:08Tech, 21. All right.
- 46:15But I also see Clemson, probably the fourth quarter is probably
- 46:20going to be where they get. I think they'll probably get 14
- 46:23points. I think it'll probably be
- 46:25something where like it'll be like 31:17 somewhere in that
- 46:30neighborhood to score game and then eventually we run out of
- 46:33gas. Brad doesn't know how to call
- 46:36any decent place to help the team out.
- 46:38He's just running into a wall of, you know, nine guys.
- 46:43He's in the box or he's trying to take deep shots downfield for
- 46:48no apparent reason. Somebody needs to tell Brad that
- 46:54just because you gain an extra blocker with QB power.
- 46:57If they're already stacking the box that doesn't help you.
- 47:01Well no because it's still if they're stacking them, ate it.
- 47:04Eight to eight, which means hidden has to find the hole.
- 47:08And people getting off blocks. It's not good.
- 47:11And that's not even counting safety feels.
- 47:15Hey, they can just screw those up a bunch this week Dax getting
- 47:21the 25 I'm no issue with that. I was hoping to see somebody
- 47:27like working this week. Get it.
- 47:28But you know, Beck's playbacks has played well over the last
- 47:32few weeks. So the X has played his best
- 47:35football is as we've gotten worse, and Alfalfa think there's
- 47:42a correlation there. I'm just, you know, there's the,
- 47:45you know, just because that's happened, doesn't mean that
- 47:48that's the cause, but Dax has played pretty well as we've been
- 47:53more in Insistent on both sides of the football, the last few
- 47:57weeks. So cool.
- 47:59The decks guided, I don't know what that, what that really
- 48:02means in terms of his play or looking forward, but yeah, yeah,
- 48:09I definitely think he as much as anybody on the defense the last
- 48:13few weeks, probably deserves to get it.
- 48:15So yeah. All right, well now let's go to
- 48:18our picks against the spread. We're going to do for ACC games
- 48:23and Are going to do for out of conference games with a little
- 48:26bit of a quick. So Brian, let's start with the
- 48:31biggest line. We're looking at this week
- 48:34Syracuse versus the Notre, Dame Fighting Irish of Notre.
- 48:38Dame is Lane 33 and a half points right now for lead since
- 48:46I sort of got it up with watching the game, you led with
- 48:49our predictions. So I'll leave with the first of
- 48:52the spread. Games here.
- 48:56Give me the Irish man. Okay, I still can't trust
- 49:00Syracuse and I know the Notre Dame's.
- 49:04Either been World beaters or it's been closed.
- 49:09At least closer than they wanted to be.
- 49:11But I think this is one where Notre Dame is focused, kind of
- 49:17looking forward here. So I'll take the Irish will take
- 49:22the Irish laying 33 and a half point I'm going completely
- 49:26against you. I think after the NL with this
- 49:29week of that they're in the ACC Championship, we said we good
- 49:36they're gonna win by like 27. I'm going to be flirting going
- 49:41with 33 and a half, but I think eventually they'll take it off
- 49:44because it's going to eventually get to a point where that game
- 49:46is going to be 35 735 10 and Brian Kelly have to sit there
- 49:52and say We have to play Clemson again with Flakes and some
- 49:57rubber, I need everybody as healthy as possible.
- 50:00I'm going to put in a bunch of backups and you know what?
- 50:03If the backups beat me? Braun the backups, beat me.
- 50:06Give me Syracuse, give me the 33 and a half points.
- 50:12Yeah I think it's going to be 35 and for the starters come out so
- 50:15that's all we need. You might be right, but I'm
- 50:22gonna solve a conservative game. Next game, PC UVA, UVA is laying
- 50:29four and a half points. Maybe a, the last few weeks has
- 50:35been good to me when I've taken them, I'm trying to figure out
- 50:40why they're getting four and a half points.
- 50:42I know, BC doesn't have the best defense, but the Wahoo's on the
- 50:49world being offense, the Wahoo's defense is hurting more and
- 50:52more. They're back in was already
- 50:53struggling Snowden goes out Briggs transfers.
- 50:58Now their pass rush is significantly less.
- 51:02So, somebody tell me why BC is getting points.
- 51:05I think BC outright wins this game.
- 51:09Give me basic. Hear hear PC?
- 51:14That's a no. I just like UBC better than UVA
- 51:17man. I think they're a better
- 51:20football team. They have a little bit more
- 51:23balance. The only thing they don't have
- 51:24is a running game, UVA has been so inconsistent and now they're
- 51:30starting to see the injury / transfer bug, hit their defense
- 51:36and that's the one thing that was kind of holding everything
- 51:39together up to this point. So I'm going to take d.c. all
- 51:44right. Hey Brian.
- 51:48It's your favorite team. Next Georgia Tech in Sea State n
- 51:51c-- state level in seven points. What are you doing?
- 51:54NC State. Just because it's Georgia Tech.
- 52:00I can't pick my Georgia Tech, the rest of the way.
- 52:02It's been ordained. They have screwed bronze.
- 52:06So many times in so many different ways, Italian.
- 52:09Funny, I'm with you in peace date, Georgia Tech while he
- 52:13played their best game of the year last week against jute.
- 52:16Where NC State that was probably maybe there.
- 52:21S worst game of the year with the win over Syracuse.
- 52:25I would say there are other worst game of the year of
- 52:26Crawley against us so With the only NC State.
- 52:32All right. Duke.
- 52:33My ma Miami Lane 15. I'm going to get my in here
- 52:40because it's okay. What the ACC did this week is
- 52:43kind of crapped all over them, like Clemson's, not going to
- 52:47lose this game so you guys can go over there.
- 52:51They're going to get a good Bowl.
- 52:53They're probably going to get either the Orange Bowl in their
- 52:56Hometown. Potentially the Peach Bowl.
- 53:00Yep. We get some extra money because
- 53:02they're going to wind up you know, 18 19 and 14 the year and
- 53:08I think they're just going to put the beat down on you just
- 53:11take out some aggression. Yeah I mean I feel like as we're
- 53:16kind of winding down here, you got Miami.
- 53:19That is essentially the looking at being the best.
- 53:24Non Clemson Notre Dame Squad in the conference.
- 53:29Well, what's up? Where we hoped we'd be.
- 53:34Yes, exactly. And you've got do that really
- 53:38isn't playing for much at this point.
- 53:39So you know I kind of like Miami to go ahead and finish the job.
- 53:44They've started here and you know walk walk into one of the
- 53:50more favorable bowl games that still being played yes sir.
- 53:54All right, Brian I told you had some interesting stuff with the
- 53:59other games. We're going to pick the right
- 54:01nip High. Let's do this one.
- 54:06Billy Napier and usually the universal louisiana-lafayette
- 54:10taking on appstate appstate Lane 3.
- 54:13Napier is a guy. We have learnt in as a potential
- 54:16replacement and Napier's lost one game this year.
- 54:22We lose two games like here at what you want to roll.
- 54:27But going into bun, it's going to be cold.
- 54:31I'm not sure how the snow looks down there.
- 54:33I'm not sure what time this game is.
- 54:36But AB state land through, will you think?
- 54:41Man, like you said, call him butter, he's been on a roll.
- 54:44So I'm going to take the Ragin Cajuns All right.
- 54:51Well, I'm going to go against them because he's interviewing
- 54:56Saturday and if he's in or he's going to be doing over the
- 54:59weekend, I think the focus isn't going to be there.
- 55:01I think it's probably going to be a good game.
- 55:03I think they lose about touchdown because of the way the
- 55:06weather is looking down in Boone and kind of on the east coast in
- 55:11general is going to be cold. It's going to be yucky.
- 55:13Give me appstate knowing that knowing that could have against
- 55:16Billy. If you tell me Billy and
- 55:18two-week time as our head coach, I would be happy.
- 55:21I think he's done a hell of a job.
- 55:22Down it. Um, UL Lafayette with the Raging
- 55:26Cajuns. I think his footprint fence here
- 55:30and yeah. Yeah, I mean my only beef with
- 55:36with Napier's at it would be a similar higher to to Flint a but
- 55:40I mean other than that he's got, he's got a more Regional
- 55:44footprint already than went a head coming in to a point.
- 55:49So for but, when they had worked for Gary Patterson, essentially,
- 55:54it's furry. Napier's work for Dabo early on
- 55:59yet fired by Debo. Then he went to work for saving.
- 56:03There's your biggest differences.
- 56:04He's been around essentially. The two guys who have lost.
- 56:06Decade has dominated the sport. Yes I think I'll go there.
- 56:11He's been more adjacent to Greatness exactly next one.
- 56:18Let's go down Coastal BYU. Jim Chadwell enough.
- 56:24We've mentioned as a potential. New head coach BYU traveling.
- 56:30Cross-country just figuring. They're gonna play this game a
- 56:32couple days ago. Is a 10-point favorite down at
- 56:36kostal. So Brian.
- 56:40Do you believe in the Cougars and mr.
- 56:42Wilson, or do you believe Short time, for fair cross-country
- 56:48travel, that they're not going to do it or they're going to do
- 56:52it. But tens way too much delay.
- 56:56Tens, definitely too much delay for me.
- 56:58All things considered I could see Coastal even winning this
- 57:02one out. Right.
- 57:03I'm not sure how good BYU is based on who they played and
- 57:08some other factors, combine that with all this short-term stuff,
- 57:12and cross-country travel, that's definitely should be Coastal As
- 57:16to, to take their, I can see be why you pulling it out but I
- 57:20don't like 10. All right, I'm with you.
- 57:24I don't like the 10 number. I think the 10 numbers way too
- 57:26big, I think coastal zone a very good team.
- 57:29I think Chad Wills in a very good position and I'm going to
- 57:33say something if Chadwell wins this game.
- 57:39The South Carolina hold off on making their higher for a couple
- 57:41more weeks. I think that all depends on how
- 57:45well that Napier interview goes over the weekend.
- 57:50I do think Ted Wells moving up somewhere, you know, within the
- 57:55next year if he stays at kostal after this offseason, they have
- 57:58another good season Chad Wills as good as gone, you know, you
- 58:03kind of start looking around. Can you ever wonder?
- 58:07Could it be Duke? Could it be an SEC program?
- 58:12But I don't think he's going to be there too much longer.
- 58:15I could go, Ron, let's go to the central Edie.
- 58:18Best game of the weekend. Indiana, Wisconsin.
- 58:24Wisconsin is lame. 14 and a half.
- 58:27I'm still trying to figure out why they're laying 14 and a
- 58:30half. Indiana went to the horseshoe.
- 58:35Fought back valiantly against the Buckeyes.
- 58:38Be done by seven. Wisconsin still.
- 58:41You know, they scored seven points, one Northwestern
- 58:44Northwestern loses the Michigan State here.
- 58:46A couple last weekend Wisconsin, maybe they're getting out of
- 58:51their covid Funk but 14 halfway Indiana's playing, you know hold
- 58:57on wait a second. Wait a second just seeing
- 59:00something here. I didn't know about.
- 59:03Wait a minute. Brian.
- 59:04Sorry live on air guys. Ever changing, ah, take that
- 59:11back. Give me Wisconsin Phoenix.
- 59:13Tore his ACL Indiana has no shot in this game.
- 59:20I'll take the same, man. Give me a, give me a double shot
- 59:26knowing that whiskey, that was three days ago.
- 59:30I'm glad I'll look that up because that was really funky.
- 59:33When you see how the team this good getting 14 and a half
- 59:37against a team that's playing bass player goes out.
- 59:40You understand why? All right Brian last game, we're
- 59:44going to look out of here out of conference.
- 59:49Are you shocked all waited on this one till last?
- 59:51I'm not shocked. You Waitin on this until last.
- 59:54Are you aware Oklahoma? Train, train, train, Oklahoma
- 1:00:01laying 22. Obviously.
- 1:00:05Shane had some interviews Bob Stoops had to come in and help
- 1:00:10out a little bit with Lincoln this week.
- 1:00:15What do you think Brian 22 too? Much blood or is Lincoln,
- 1:00:19finally got them common where they're going to just blow the
- 1:00:22doors off, Baylor. You know, if it hadn't been for
- 1:00:27some of the problems they were having this week, I'd say
- 1:00:30Oklahoma probably does go with the 22 but it with having
- 1:00:33different coaches coming in. Even one is well-versed in
- 1:00:38winning as Bob Stoops. I still think some of that might
- 1:00:42throw them off just a hair. It's going to be probably three
- 1:00:46scores, but I think it's going to be somewhere 17 to 21 and not
- 1:00:5022. So the 22 is about a point, too.
- 1:00:52Rich for my blood here. I'm with you man.
- 1:00:56Baylor's been in every game, they played this year and it
- 1:01:00just everything doesn't seem right with linking quite yet.
- 1:01:04But, I'm going to tell you, we're going to both take Baylor
- 1:01:06and will tell you what's probably going to happen.
- 1:01:09We're going to be sitting at 17 early fourth quarter Baylor's,
- 1:01:13going to punt and they're going to House of Pain.
- 1:01:17Shane train train train. Hey, that's better than a
- 1:01:22meaningless. Two-point conversion that
- 1:01:25completely broke the NFL. Put on the six and a half or
- 1:01:36two. Oh yeah.
- 1:01:39Oh yeah. I didn't put it out of my mind,
- 1:01:45so you know, I'm probably going to do a
- 1:02:04couple. Going to be more more searing
- 1:02:14them off than smoking them necessarily.
- 1:02:16So that's what I've got planned for going on the grill or so
- 1:02:20money. So you different taste than, you
- 1:02:22know, throwing them in an oven or even smoking them, I usually
- 1:02:26marinate mine and then do I'll put them on there and just
- 1:02:30rotate them every, every two minutes until I get the right
- 1:02:33internal temperature and then I'll pull them off, all right?
- 1:02:37Anything else breaking Braun late.
- 1:02:40You know, any coaching hires and Nothing the stuff.
- 1:02:45I'm not seeing anything jumping out at me but you know, I could
- 1:02:50have missed something. So if you see something I'm
- 1:02:54throwing at me, naquan Brown decommitted today from LSU
- 1:03:01decommitted, a the committed, which you don't know.
- 1:03:09We can speculate all we want if it is a true deep commitment.
- 1:03:12Or they told him. His offer wasn't good anymore.
- 1:03:19Either way, you almost feel for a kid or maybe he actually saw
- 1:03:25Lana. What is LSU doing this year?
- 1:03:27Oh no. I'm good man.
- 1:03:28I'd rather go to look elsewhere. You're also having kids this
- 1:03:32year they're starting to get their first semester grades and
- 1:03:37if the grades ain't quite right, so it could be a number of
- 1:03:40different things while he's made this move.
- 1:03:43Best of luck to you a young man. He is a talented guy.
- 1:03:46And For any hockey fan that says, well, I don't want to
- 1:03:51bullshit. Bullshit.
- 1:03:55Yep, it kid in a heartbeat I mean, even if even if you think
- 1:04:00he's a project at this point in state, is where you want to look
- 1:04:05at projects, not guys that are coming from far away.
- 1:04:09If you're getting some guys from far away, you want them to be
- 1:04:12able to within their first year to on-campus.
- 1:04:15Be steady contributors. 100%. But if you've got nothing else,
