- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with our radio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, guys, welcome to the Almost said This podcast where
- 0:08Speaker 2: it is a it was weird weird week.
- 0:11Speaker 3: We want something happened.
- 0:14Speaker 2: So, guys, after we got off the mic last week
- 0:17Speaker 2: recording the last episode that we released, we got word
- 0:21Speaker 2: that The Bachelorette would no longer be airing in this
- 0:27Speaker 2: in the state in which we know it that was
- 0:30Speaker 2: supposed to. I'm trying to be careful by words, because.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Listen, don't be careful. They canceled the seasons. The word canceled.
- 0:37Speaker 3: They never used it, but every first solicitous chair. By
- 0:40Speaker 3: the way, not notice that by now Ben's not here.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It's his birthday birthday. Then I actually don't know what
- 0:48Speaker 2: he's doing, but I'm gonna go write him a.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Nice little take one guess. I mean, I don't know
- 0:53Speaker 3: what it's. Yeah, I mean, come on, now, he's playing
- 0:55Speaker 3: thirty six holes probably, But anyway, back to the Bachelor, Rett, Yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 3: I mean, just they canceled the season. Now, whether you
- 1:03Speaker 3: know what their wordage, verbiage, whatever, it got canceled. They
- 1:06Speaker 3: who knows if they'll try to PLoP it on Hulu
- 1:08Speaker 3: at some point I doubt it, but we'll see.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yeah. So there's a lot that unfolded between the recording
- 1:14Speaker 2: of our last episode and now, of course we will
- 1:17Speaker 2: be doing plenty of podcasts talk about it. We canceled Jared,
- 1:22Speaker 2: we recorded, and then I'm not even joking you. We
- 1:27Speaker 2: got off the recording and five minutes later TMZ reported
- 1:31Speaker 2: that Dakota was filing for a restraining order and that
- 1:35Speaker 2: he was filing for soul custody. And then I text
- 1:38Speaker 2: the group, I go, wow, way to hang up too early,
- 1:41Speaker 2: And then within forty five minutes from that, then we
- 1:45Speaker 2: got the Nick cancelation. So it was just like that
- 1:48Speaker 2: was already our second podcast that we recorded that day,
- 1:51Speaker 2: because we already recorded the recap of the screener. Yes, guys,
- 1:56Speaker 2: we did get to see the first episode, and I'll
- 1:59Speaker 2: give you I can't obviously give details, but I'll give
- 2:02Speaker 2: you a macro putting it on that in an episode
- 2:04Speaker 2: later this week when we do a recap of all
- 2:06Speaker 2: the things that have unvolden over the past weekend. It's
- 2:10Speaker 2: almost like we needed to take a beat because the
- 2:14Speaker 2: information just kept coming.
- 2:15Speaker 3: At us still has stopped, and it still hasn't stopped.
- 2:18Speaker 2: We need to like kind of not catch our breath,
- 2:21Speaker 2: but like take a recap.
- 2:23Speaker 3: That's my concern about the future of the franchise is
- 2:25Speaker 3: that I just feel like this story won't stop for
- 2:27Speaker 3: quite some time.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So why it's going to keep us rolling for weeks guys, well.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Content wise for this podcast, yes, but in terms of
- 2:33Speaker 3: the now, we're talking just about the macro really quickly
- 2:36Speaker 3: in terms of the future of the Bachelor franchise, because
- 2:38Speaker 3: obviously there's people thinking is it going to be is
- 2:41Speaker 3: there ever going to be a Bachelor's Season again? Or
- 2:43Speaker 3: are they going to try to do paradise and just
- 2:45Speaker 3: power through this thing. My concern is that I feel
- 2:48Speaker 3: like this story will keep evolving, whether it be through
- 2:52Speaker 3: lawsuits or accusations pointing fingers, people getting fired. It's gonna
- 2:57Speaker 3: be hard for them to get a fresh start. And
- 2:59Speaker 3: we were talking about the other day it kind of
- 3:01Speaker 3: feels like The Bachelor tried to do a fresh start
- 3:03Speaker 3: within the past few years. You know, there's been a
- 3:06Speaker 3: lot of turbulence, you know, because they lost some production
- 3:10Speaker 3: you know, years ago, years ago, last no, no, no,
- 3:14Speaker 3: I'm talking about years ago when we thought, like you know,
- 3:16Speaker 3: obviously the big name we could say his name now.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But when Alan left that was a big shift of
- 3:21Speaker 3: his choice. Yeah, of course, but it was like, yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 3: but when when that happened, When Alan departed, that was
- 3:26Speaker 3: a big shift. And then, of course, like the year
- 3:29Speaker 3: or so later is when the entire Harrison situation unfolded.
- 3:33Speaker 3: He gets fired. That's a huge shift in Bachelor, and
- 3:37Speaker 3: then it just feels like they haven't been able to
- 3:41Speaker 3: really get their footing. A lot of seasons that people
- 3:43Speaker 3: have been disappointed in questions about the choice of leads.
- 3:47Speaker 3: And then Joey seasons happened. Joey's season happens. That is
- 3:51Speaker 3: a huge bump up. Everybody's like, here we go, great momentum.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And then there was that article last year about like
- 4:00Speaker 3: toxic work environment producers that we know that we love
- 4:03Speaker 3: involved in it. It's like, this doesn't seem right. But
- 4:06Speaker 3: then do you want.
- 4:07Speaker 2: To come and do a recap podcast? My point is
- 4:10Speaker 2: this is the HGTV show recap.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Just like a three minute This is what people want
- 4:14Speaker 3: to hear. With all the respects agree. I mean, as
- 4:18Speaker 3: I love Dean more than any I'd.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Like to focus on just talking with you. I just
- 4:21Speaker 2: know that we have a hard I know. That's why
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'm okay, go ahead, and I want you to air
- 4:24Speaker 2: it out, Eric.
- 4:25Speaker 3: So I know what point is like all this and
- 4:27Speaker 3: then they've fired producers because of this. Behind the scenes,
- 4:30Speaker 3: Mike Flics left as the show runner, so it's been
- 4:33Speaker 3: this completely runner whatever he was, like the person who
- 4:37Speaker 3: created the show, Flice left and then there's been this
- 4:41Speaker 3: whole turnover and then here we go. They cast Taylor
- 4:43Speaker 3: Frankie Paul. They announced it last year. I didn't know
- 4:46Speaker 3: who this person was. I don't watch Secret Lives morem
- 4:48Speaker 3: and wise, but what I do know is that it
- 4:50Speaker 3: got a ton of traction, ton of buzz and I
- 4:53Speaker 3: was like, oh wow, this seems like a great choice
- 4:54Speaker 3: because people are talking about it. And then it felt
- 4:59Speaker 3: like this was like the not Hail Mary, but like, hey,
- 5:03Speaker 3: we're gonna throw a fastball as hard as we possibly can.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And then of course this happens now and it's like, damn,
- 5:11Speaker 3: there's been so much.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well, could you come back later this week and we
- 5:16Speaker 2: could talk about let's talk about that little bit what
- 5:19Speaker 2: I just wanted to talk to you, like what we're
- 5:22Speaker 2: talking about at breakfast yesterday.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I think, yeah, we could do that yeah, I want
- 5:25Speaker 3: to do that. Talk about it for five minutes now,
- 5:26Speaker 3: and then if we want to talk about an intemp later.
- 5:29Speaker 3: The point is I just I don't know where the
- 5:31Speaker 3: future goes, where the franchise goes from here. I don't
- 5:34Speaker 3: necessarily think it's over, but I just also think that
- 5:37Speaker 3: this is at this point, this is the most not nervous,
- 5:42Speaker 3: but like the most I thought, Wow, there might never
- 5:45Speaker 3: be another Bachelor show again. I hope that doesn't happen.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It's been a franchise that we are obviously completely indebted
- 5:53Speaker 3: to love. I want this thing to go on for
- 5:54Speaker 3: the rest of our lives. But it's just like, how
- 5:59Speaker 3: do they do a paradise season?
- 6:00Speaker 2: We were I'm not going to do a Paradise season.
- 6:02Speaker 2: There's no way for them to.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I mean there's a way, but it's just whether you
- 6:05Speaker 3: know the juice is worth the squeeze. Like, do they
- 6:07Speaker 3: try to introduce these guys and then bring women from
- 6:11Speaker 3: previous seasons on? Is that going to really hit? Do
- 6:14Speaker 3: they bring Golden's back? Are they going to do a know,
- 6:16Speaker 3: the Golden season? Because the last Golden one nobody really liked.
- 6:19Speaker 3: So it's like, I don't know, it's just question marks.
- 6:21Speaker 3: And then it's like, Okay, do you take a hiatus
- 6:23Speaker 3: and then try to do like a Bachelor season in
- 6:26Speaker 3: January and then pick somebody from previous seasons, or do
- 6:30Speaker 3: you pick one of the guys from this season and
- 6:31Speaker 3: try to like, you know, get him exposed to the public.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So it's like, hey, you feel like this guy was
- 6:37Speaker 3: supposed to be, you know, a well known name. Nobody
- 6:40Speaker 3: knows who he is, and this is his redemption story
- 6:42Speaker 3: because you know, he got screwed out of being on
- 6:45Speaker 3: the Bachelor's.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Not that either, I don't know Bachelor's out of obscurity.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It worked with Gary and it really happens the Golden
- 6:54Speaker 2: I know, but it didn't work for Mel and with Matt.
- 6:58Speaker 2: It was just there is a lot of heaviness that
- 7:01Speaker 2: went along with that season that I can't even separate.
- 7:04Speaker 3: It was a mad thing.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It wasn't MAT's fault.
- 7:06Speaker 3: And I still remember that promo for that season.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Dawson, she doesn't even exist at the time, not even
- 7:12Speaker 2: as a little thing in my belly, which is super weird.
- 7:16Speaker 2: But you had such a man crash on him.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Oh my god, that it was because they I'm a
- 7:23Speaker 3: sucker for any type of trailer that edits itself to
- 7:26Speaker 3: the beat of music. And this song was what a Man,
- 7:29Speaker 3: What a Man? And Chris Harrison, it was such a
- 7:32Speaker 3: good line. He looks at Matt and he goes, you've
- 7:33Speaker 3: never been in love. I'm here to change that. And
- 7:36Speaker 3: it was like, what a man, What a man? And
- 7:38Speaker 3: it was like this edited version of James Matt James
- 7:40Speaker 3: just doing all this cool stuff. I was like, I'm
- 7:42Speaker 3: gonna love this. And then obviously everything changed.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Okay, and we have just a little bit before you
- 7:48Speaker 2: have to go to work, so we are gonna switch
- 7:51Speaker 2: gears to this HGDTV. Actually this HGTV episode. It's the
- 7:58Speaker 2: fourth episode and the first one that Jared has watched
- 8:02Speaker 2: es So he's not gonna pretend like he really knows
- 8:04Speaker 2: what's going on here, but you kind of do. Right now,
- 8:09Speaker 2: it's pretty simple to catch up anywhere you pick up.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Team one in this week is going to be selected randomly.
- 8:17Speaker 2: They have a basket and each in the basket there
- 8:20Speaker 2: are little pieces of paper. They grab them and it
- 8:23Speaker 2: tells them what team they're gonna be on, what project
- 8:26Speaker 2: they're gonna be on.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's girls versus guys.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Random does randomly, Courtney, Joan, and Alicia end up on
- 8:33Speaker 2: the same team and Jared. Last week, these three girls
- 8:36Speaker 2: worked on the same team and they had lots of headbutting.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Joan and Alicia are a little bit paired up as
- 8:43Speaker 2: friends and they do not always agree with Courtney's design thoughts.
- 8:48Speaker 2: And this is the second week in a row. It
- 8:50Speaker 2: turns out that it's her design that the judges like
- 8:52Speaker 2: the most. Team two is Noah, Sam and Dean. And
- 8:59Speaker 2: Noah is going to be in charge of the how
- 9:02Speaker 2: do you say that, Chris Denza Credenza. Sam's gonna be
- 9:06Speaker 2: in charge of the walls and the ceiling, and Dean's
- 9:08Speaker 2: going to be in charge of furniture and decor. Courtney's
- 9:11Speaker 2: going to be in charge of the fireplace. Jones in
- 9:13Speaker 2: charge of the entertainment built in, and Alicia is in
- 9:16Speaker 2: charge of the bookcase built in. Now, I know you
- 9:19Speaker 2: had thoughts when you walked when you saw you just
- 9:24Speaker 2: I don't think you want any change of this mansion, right,
- 9:26Speaker 2: Like you don't want them to touch anything. Because as
- 9:28Speaker 2: soon as he saw the before and after, Jared was
- 9:32Speaker 2: like I hate it.
- 9:33Speaker 3: He's like, it's not it looks beautiful. Everybody did such
- 9:36Speaker 3: a wonderful job, But like, I don't want the Bachelor
- 9:38Speaker 3: Mansion to have this modern take on it where it's
- 9:41Speaker 3: like neutral walls and brand new furniture and it's like, guys,
- 9:44Speaker 3: this is the Bachelor Mansion. They're supposed to be character.
- 9:47Speaker 3: It's supposed to be aged and there's that's the whole
- 9:49Speaker 3: purpose of it, because there's stories in there. There are
- 9:52Speaker 3: all these people who have come before you, and like
- 9:54Speaker 3: if these walls could talk, and now it's like the
- 9:56Speaker 3: walls are green and everything is brand new and it
- 9:59Speaker 3: looks like a tooth in twenty six house. I'm like, guys, like,
- 10:02Speaker 3: can we not just ruin the Bachelor franchise further? Like
- 10:04Speaker 3: to have the house stay the way it's supposed to
- 10:07Speaker 3: be in brown and red and all these obscure colors.
- 10:09Speaker 3: My favorite part of the new part of the living
- 10:13Speaker 3: room are honestly Dean's pillows because they're burgundy and yellow.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, give me more colors like that. I
- 10:19Speaker 3: mean the tile, I think who did the tile again?
- 10:21Speaker 3: Was it Joan with the tile in the yellow reading?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Oh yeh no, no, no, that was Courtney.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 10:28Speaker 2: It was really nice because it did keep in the
- 10:31Speaker 2: traditional color scheme.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Like everything is just so new. I'm like, why are
- 10:36Speaker 3: we doing this? This is not the Bachelor Mansion. Like
- 10:39Speaker 3: it's like you, it's it's kind of like you. I'm
- 10:42Speaker 3: trying to it's not bring my personality into this, but
- 10:45Speaker 3: like I'm gonna say this, but like with Scream, it's
- 10:49Speaker 3: like if you walked into Stu Maker's House, the original house,
- 10:52Speaker 3: and it's like all remodeled, and it's like, well, obviously
- 10:54Speaker 3: this doesn't feel like the original Scream house, so it's
- 10:58Speaker 3: not that cool anymore. Going in to the Bachelor Mansion,
- 11:01Speaker 3: it's you don't want it to be like, wow, this
- 11:03Speaker 3: doesn't feel like do you.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Realize that they do change They change the wall color
- 11:08Speaker 2: every year.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's it never feels like that, you know
- 11:11Speaker 3: what I mean. It still has the structure, it's like
- 11:12Speaker 3: all these different It's never like a neutral green or
- 11:16Speaker 3: white or black or gray. It's like burgundy or yellow.
- 11:20Speaker 3: It's dark, dark, blues dark. It sounds like you're walking
- 11:23Speaker 3: into your grandmother's house. You know. That's the bye By.
- 11:26Speaker 2: One, the grandmother's house, more of like the Olive Garden
- 11:29Speaker 2: nineties house all on my parents house.
- 11:31Speaker 3: That's what I meant. Yes, yes, that's what I meant
- 11:33Speaker 3: when I were your parents are grandparents. So I was
- 11:34Speaker 3: just thinking, like.
- 11:36Speaker 2: This gird this generation's grandparents.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But that's you know what I mean. I don't want
- 11:41Speaker 3: it to feel brand new and annoyed me because you know,
- 11:45Speaker 3: this is coming off the heels of the Taylor Frankie
- 11:46Speaker 3: Paul situation, which feels like like she's just I'm not
- 11:51Speaker 3: to blame her, but like obviously, well I guess the
- 11:54Speaker 3: ultimately my point in saying is that like it feels
- 11:57Speaker 3: like the franchise is getting burned to the ground, all right.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I don't know. That's why I didn't want to talk
- 12:02Speaker 2: about Taylor in this episode, just because there's so much
- 12:06Speaker 2: nuance that I want to go through.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I'm sure there's nuance. At the same time, she threw
- 12:10Speaker 3: three metal chairs at her ex. One of the chairs
- 12:13Speaker 3: did ricochet and hit the daughter, So like that's when
- 12:16Speaker 3: it's like, okay, never mind, you're completely in the wrong,
- 12:18Speaker 3: no matter what was happening. If you involve your kids anyway,
- 12:22Speaker 3: that's all we're talking about. But my point is it
- 12:24Speaker 3: just is this was coming off the heels of that news,
- 12:28Speaker 3: which was like it feels like the Bachelor franchise is
- 12:30Speaker 3: floundering right now, and then now we're changing everything.
- 12:33Speaker 2: The loud room is mint. Jeffer's like, it can't be mint.
- 12:38Speaker 2: But also, let's just address the fact that they're doing
- 12:41Speaker 2: this and they're saying the next group of people filming
- 12:44Speaker 2: The Bachelorette are moving into this house in two weeks,
- 12:48Speaker 2: and it's like, well they did, and it'll never be air.
- 12:50Speaker 2: You'll never see what it looks like with contestants in it.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Oh boy, oh boy. Well unless they released on Hulu,
- 12:56Speaker 3: which I highly doubt they can now. But also I
- 12:59Speaker 3: want to say that this is not.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Can I just say it's really funny when I go Jared,
- 13:03Speaker 2: will you do the podcast with him?
- 13:04Speaker 3: And he's like, okay, listen, this is what I'm trying
- 13:08Speaker 3: to do.
- 13:08Speaker 2: The best He gets on the microphone and he has
- 13:11Speaker 2: so many opinions.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Because I'm trying to provide a good product.
- 13:15Speaker 2: You are, You're doing a great job, so much so
- 13:17Speaker 2: that I wish that we had more time.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Well you know, we want to leave everybody wanting more.
- 13:22Speaker 2: That's my motto.
- 13:23Speaker 3: And just one more thing. It is nothing that gets
- 13:25Speaker 3: the contestants truly every piece in here is beautiful and
- 13:28Speaker 3: I would love all six of them to renovate our
- 13:31Speaker 3: house because this is what I want my house to
- 13:33Speaker 3: look like. Dean's coffee table if he made that, that
- 13:36Speaker 3: is stunning. Dean's just the man. Gotta love that guy.
- 13:39Speaker 3: He needs to be on every television show.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I agree.
- 13:42Speaker 3: And then you know, with Joan did the entertainment set,
- 13:45Speaker 3: I love that. I love everything about it. Now I
- 13:47Speaker 3: know that Tyler, Tasha and the other gentleman who came in.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Only the man of my childhood. Of course, Nate Burkis
- 13:55Speaker 2: dayon Oprah. My heart was full, like I'm not the guy.
- 13:58Speaker 3: You're going to ask to be like, oh this doesn't
- 14:00Speaker 3: go with that or that, Like I think it looks beautiful,
- 14:02Speaker 3: Like I would love my living room to look like that.
- 14:04Speaker 3: So again, contestants did a wonderful job. I'm just talking about,
- 14:07Speaker 3: like just like it feels like everything is just not
- 14:10Speaker 3: the way it was. And you know, The Bachelor is
- 14:13Speaker 3: meant to be nostalgic, and it feels like we're losing
- 14:16Speaker 3: a lot of that nostalgia.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Okay, I agree with all of that. So we know
- 14:31Speaker 2: in this episode that the season long argument beef between
- 14:36Speaker 2: Dean and Dean and Noah is actually all fake because
- 14:41Speaker 2: when they're outside just having a little bit of a chat,
- 14:44Speaker 2: Noah and him go at it, but they're cracking up
- 14:46Speaker 2: the entire time while they're shit talking, and anybody Noah,
- 14:51Speaker 2: there was a moment, Jared, there was a split moment
- 14:53Speaker 2: where we weren't really sure. And then Noah through.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Dean into the pool.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Somebody goes, you still love your Mike gone, you can't
- 15:01Speaker 2: throw him into the pool. And then throw him into
- 15:03Speaker 2: the pool. I was like, did they take the mic
- 15:04Speaker 2: off in between they cut that together? Because I feel
- 15:07Speaker 2: like they did. They had a great time, and now
- 15:10Speaker 2: we know that they really do love each other. The
- 15:13Speaker 2: next day, we see that the teams have one hour
- 15:15Speaker 2: to make designed decisions like usual. The guys are, they're driving,
- 15:21Speaker 2: they're they're always getting along. They are to me, the
- 15:25Speaker 2: more likable team. They just are nice to watch together.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Noah talks about adding stone to the wall of his
- 15:32Speaker 2: little area that turns out to be gorgeous. Probably my
- 15:36Speaker 2: favorite part of the room change one that I think
- 15:39Speaker 2: isn't like at all, making it not an antique in
- 15:43Speaker 2: your head.
- 15:44Speaker 3: It's nice.
- 15:45Speaker 2: And then Sam says that he's gonna go with the
- 15:49Speaker 2: light paint and he wants to add the little detail
- 15:52Speaker 2: on the wall frame it up a bit, which I
- 15:56Speaker 2: agree in the end with the judges. It was like
- 16:00Speaker 2: a little bit too modern of a twist for that room.
- 16:03Speaker 2: And then or it's some it looked too modern. I
- 16:07Speaker 2: don't know that the actual design of it is modern,
- 16:09Speaker 2: but it registered modern. And then Dean wanted to go
- 16:13Speaker 2: at the dark couch, in which you said that the
- 16:15Speaker 2: dark colors and the pillows on the couch are what
- 16:17Speaker 2: made you feel like that. Yeah, Joan talks about how
- 16:22Speaker 2: she wants to add our installation and tile. I in
- 16:25Speaker 2: the end of it, like when we see the product,
- 16:28Speaker 2: my thought is that I did not like the marble
- 16:30Speaker 2: in the back. I thought the gray and white too.
- 16:33Speaker 2: That did not fit in the room at all. I
- 16:36Speaker 2: think that if she kept it a a beigier color,
- 16:40Speaker 2: if it was more of a like a warm tile,
- 16:43Speaker 2: that could have that could have worked. But I did not.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Like he's looking at me like all funny right now.
- 16:48Speaker 3: No, I'm just trying to I get I'm just not.
- 16:50Speaker 3: This is not my cup of tea. I got nothing
- 16:52Speaker 3: for you. I wish I could like I liked it.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It was fine. I didn't. I didn't love it. But
- 16:57Speaker 2: and they at the the judges ended up saying that
- 17:02Speaker 2: there was too many elements, there's too many types of
- 17:05Speaker 2: materials and it was just like a little bit clashy,
- 17:07Speaker 2: which I totally agreed with. And yes, I know that
- 17:08Speaker 2: I'm jumping to the end, but that's fine because it
- 17:12Speaker 2: was a really basic episode. Courtney is saying that she
- 17:15Speaker 2: wants to use tile and a mirror and she's going
- 17:20Speaker 2: to do the tile vertically move the eye up. But
- 17:24Speaker 2: because like you said, the color is of that like
- 17:27Speaker 2: rustic orange, it does really work in the room and
- 17:30Speaker 2: I think that was one of the best enhancements in
- 17:33Speaker 2: the room. And again, Joan and Alicia are just not
- 17:37Speaker 2: fans of Courtney's ideas. I'm not sure where they're just
- 17:39Speaker 2: trying to like gang up on her at this point,
- 17:42Speaker 2: but they just never agree with her. The interesting part
- 17:46Speaker 2: about this, and it kind of continues with what doesn't
- 17:51Speaker 2: make sense about the show, is that you're gonna get
- 17:55Speaker 2: eliminated as a team of three. This is what Jesse announces.
- 18:00Speaker 2: You get picked on a random teams and it happens
- 18:03Speaker 2: to be girls and guys, and then your fate is
- 18:06Speaker 2: totally decided by the other teammates as you know, together
- 18:10Speaker 2: it's collective. And the question always is like, is this
- 18:13Speaker 2: a fair way of going about a design show for
- 18:16Speaker 2: you to be lumped in with teams and be based
- 18:19Speaker 2: on a single room. We've mentioned if you've listened to
- 18:22Speaker 2: past episodes that it should have been a point system
- 18:24Speaker 2: throughout the entire time, and whoever had the most points
- 18:27Speaker 2: at the end of the series was the one that
- 18:32Speaker 2: wins the hundred gas.
- 18:33Speaker 3: That makes sense because a room is accented by everything else,
- 18:35Speaker 3: so it's hard to really judge just only the furniture,
- 18:38Speaker 3: by the walls and then the walls. It's hard to separate.
- 18:41Speaker 2: It's hard to do a room where you guys aren't
- 18:45Speaker 2: on the same page. Yeah, Like, there are six people
- 18:47Speaker 2: right now designing a room, and three of them are
- 18:50Speaker 2: to one team and three of them are on the other,
- 18:52Speaker 2: and they.
- 18:53Speaker 3: All have like deans doing the furniture and then SAMs.
- 18:55Speaker 3: To me, it's like it's hard not to I know,
- 18:58Speaker 3: you're supposed to work together.
- 18:59Speaker 2: But also there not supposed to work to that. That's
- 19:01Speaker 2: what's weird in this particular challenge. Because before the ched
- 19:05Speaker 2: like well, the Row ceremony room was also a situation
- 19:09Speaker 2: like this where they like split up the room. But
- 19:12Speaker 2: if you're only supposed to be working with one team
- 19:14Speaker 2: and then you're not supposed to be working with the
- 19:15Speaker 2: other team at all, Like how weird is the final product?
- 19:19Speaker 2: Like they're really lucky that the final product looked really good,
- 19:22Speaker 2: But how much more incredible would it have looked if
- 19:24Speaker 2: everybody kind of put their heads together and created a
- 19:27Speaker 2: more cohesive look. Also, you're on a team, so I
- 19:32Speaker 2: get the way that Nate said in the end, it's
- 19:34Speaker 2: nice that you could see the elements that the guys
- 19:36Speaker 2: decided to work on together, Like you could see who
- 19:39Speaker 2: worked on guys pieces versus the girls pieces, or like
- 19:42Speaker 2: three separate entities. It just the whole scoring doesn't make
- 19:47Speaker 2: any sense to me. Ali Alicia ends up winning every challenge,
- 19:53Speaker 2: she was on the winning team for every challenge up
- 19:56Speaker 2: until this day, and yet she's eliminated on this day.
- 19:59Speaker 2: So well, it just doesn't make a lot of sense.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Of course, every episode, No, of course it doesn't.
- 20:06Speaker 3: It doesn't. It makes sense, of course, makes sense.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yes, it should have definitely been just numbers throughout the
- 20:13Speaker 2: entire time because real design because real because if some
- 20:17Speaker 2: one person is going to be the one that wins
- 20:21Speaker 2: one hundred thousand at the end of it, then why
- 20:24Speaker 2: are we constantly constantly being judged as a group. I
- 20:27Speaker 2: think to answer my own question, Nate would say, as
- 20:30Speaker 2: he mentioned in this episode that like his team, like
- 20:33Speaker 2: sometimes he has like twenty plus people working on one room,
- 20:37Speaker 2: like one project, and they.
- 20:38Speaker 3: All have to they're all working together.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, So he's gonna say, He's going to say,
- 20:42Speaker 2: a good designer needs to know how to like compromise
- 20:45Speaker 2: and like come up with compromise. Yeah, and like work
- 20:50Speaker 2: as a.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I understand that, but they weren't working together. They were
- 20:52Speaker 3: all working there.
- 20:55Speaker 2: But yes, and no, the guys still brainstorm together.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Yeah. But plus, like I feel like when you're working
- 21:02Speaker 3: as an interior designer, not on a show like there
- 21:04Speaker 3: is there's an over there's a bigger idea, you know,
- 21:08Speaker 3: so it's like, hey, guys, this is what we're going for,
- 21:11Speaker 3: So this is what you need to work towards. We're
- 21:12Speaker 3: compared to this, it felt like just kind of like
- 21:14Speaker 3: come up with your own ideas and your own intuitions.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Comparably to if you're working on someone's house, it's like, hey,
- 21:20Speaker 3: this is what this is what they want, This is
- 21:22Speaker 3: kind of the color scheme they're going for, this is
- 21:24Speaker 3: the vibe they're going for, so on and so forthwhere
- 21:26Speaker 3: this was just like, hey, just do whatever you creatively
- 21:29Speaker 3: want to and it's like, well, everybody wants to do
- 21:30Speaker 3: something creatively different. Yeah, and so then of course that's
- 21:33Speaker 3: when the compromise comes in. But there is no over,
- 21:36Speaker 3: there's no one direction that they're headed towards.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Of all the things in the room, what did you
- 21:41Speaker 2: find yourself most impressed by.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I mean, it was all very impressive.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I thought you were going to say Dean's coffee table, Well,
- 21:47Speaker 2: if he made a masculine piece and he did put
- 21:49Speaker 2: it together and he made that he crafted it.
- 21:52Speaker 3: If he crafted that shit.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Good job Dean.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah that's crazy. Coffee tables beautiful.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And again, as as Jared said, it's just really hard
- 22:01Speaker 2: not to want to watch Dean all the time.
- 22:04Speaker 3: We're biased.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see what else is there in this episode.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Just but everybody's just really good.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's was really good.
- 22:12Speaker 3: I thought, No, its was great to have thought that
- 22:13Speaker 3: the nose was so good. I thought they were a
- 22:15Speaker 3: little harsh on that, well, just because.
- 22:17Speaker 2: They wanted your eye to go up more, which I
- 22:19Speaker 2: totally understood. There could have been like a little bit
- 22:21Speaker 2: something on the ceiling, like a pendant light that could
- 22:26Speaker 2: have brit your eye up a little bit. It was
- 22:27Speaker 2: a little bit of negative space, but it was really
- 22:29Speaker 2: really pretty okay. Well, we kind of already talked about
- 22:43Speaker 2: what the judges gave feedback on. Ultimately, the girls team
- 22:48Speaker 2: is eliminated. I think that everybody is everybody at home
- 22:54Speaker 2: watching this is like kind of bummed out because Courtney
- 22:56Speaker 2: again gets praised for her work and decisions, but then
- 23:00Speaker 2: she gets eliminated after she's just had a deal for
- 23:04Speaker 2: weeks Joan and Alicia.
- 23:06Speaker 3: She's like the Matthew Stafford of this HG TV show.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Because people don't believe in her decisions, but then she
- 23:12Speaker 2: proves that she does it very well.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Know that he was a great player on a bad
- 23:17Speaker 3: team for so long. No but the two he was
- 23:20Speaker 3: on the Detroit Lions. So this is Courtney being on
- 23:22Speaker 3: the Detroit Lions and then she just needed to get
- 23:24Speaker 3: traded to the Los Angeles Rands before winning a Super Bowl.
- 23:26Speaker 3: They're like, see it wasn't Stafford, it was the Lions.
- 23:29Speaker 3: That's a really good comparison.
- 23:31Speaker 2: But Joan and Alicia are both very very talented designers too.
- 23:35Speaker 2: They just have it not to work great in a
- 23:37Speaker 2: group with Courtney. So when Courtney leaves emotional, she actually
- 23:41Speaker 2: feels quite fantastic. She's sad to be leaving, but she
- 23:44Speaker 2: also feels fantastic because Nate Burkis offered his rose to her.
- 23:49Speaker 2: He picked up a rose from the podium and he's like,
- 23:53Speaker 2: this is for you, Courtney, for just doing like such
- 23:55Speaker 2: a wonderful piece in this room. And that was like
- 23:58Speaker 2: enough to satisfy her and like to leave happy. And
- 24:01Speaker 2: then while she's doing her exit interview, Tasha and Tyler
- 24:05Speaker 2: come out and they're like, hey, guess what We've just
- 24:09Speaker 2: found out we can take one contestant back, and we're
- 24:11Speaker 2: choosing to take you, which I was like, yeah, they're
- 24:15Speaker 2: making up their old rules the entire time, right, Yes,
- 24:19Speaker 2: well that's.
- 24:19Speaker 3: You should know better than anybody I know.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I came I was eliminates at.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Home and they're like, nah, just turn around, askually you're
- 24:25Speaker 3: not going anywhere you really?
- 24:29Speaker 2: Are you sure they're gonna hate me? What that's what
- 24:32Speaker 2: I was like, that's how, that's how you reacted. Yeah,
- 24:36Speaker 2: it's like, this is how we're going to be back in.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I have to go ask to be accepted.
- 24:40Speaker 3: It was like that Simpsons mean where the grandfather walks in,
- 24:43Speaker 3: takes his hat off, and then just immediately turns around,
- 24:44Speaker 3: puts his hat back on, leaves it out the door.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Okay, well that's I would think that they were flying
- 24:50Speaker 2: up to see their pants. But then we see in
- 24:51Speaker 2: the scenes from next week's episode that Chris and Tammy
- 24:55Speaker 2: are also joining the cast again and working with Courtney
- 24:59Speaker 2: to make over the terrace. This is the front of
- 25:02Speaker 2: the house. Now, please, please, please, you can't that's one
- 25:06Speaker 2: thing you can't touch that you cannot touch the outside garden.
- 25:12Speaker 3: They won't touch the fountain.
- 25:13Speaker 2: No, they can't do anything. That is the most iconic
- 25:16Speaker 2: imagery ever. That is totally different than the house because
- 25:19Speaker 2: the house they change the core and colors all the time,
- 25:21Speaker 2: but they can change.
- 25:23Speaker 3: This feels so much different.
- 25:24Speaker 2: The outside is so not okay. But what I'm seeing
- 25:28Speaker 2: in the scene to the next episode is they're adding
- 25:30Speaker 2: to it, like you know, on the wall, like when
- 25:33Speaker 2: you look when you're at the front door, looking out
- 25:35Speaker 2: there's that big brick wall or stone wall. Yeah, so
- 25:38Speaker 2: they're like adding a bar in there. They're like adding
- 25:41Speaker 2: a hangout area there so you can like go out
- 25:44Speaker 2: there and have like one on one time. That's fine.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Touch what isn't there? Okay? Add don't subtract.
- 25:50Speaker 3: The driveway, don't change the fountain, don't change the door.
- 25:53Speaker 2: No oh a good lord if they ever change the door.
- 25:55Speaker 3: That's what I mean, Like, how much can they possibly
- 25:57Speaker 3: change for people to judge? If they're not going to.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Reach I think that they're just getting this one little thing,
- 26:02Speaker 2: this one little task where they're making over the terrorists,
- 26:04Speaker 2: and then one person will be rejoined based on that
- 26:08Speaker 2: task to compete in the finale. Jared hates this show.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Well, I think like if you if you lost, you
- 26:15Speaker 3: already lost, and now you get to rejoin, like Courtney,
- 26:17Speaker 3: and I love Courtney. I want Courtney's down. But also
- 26:19Speaker 3: it should be like kind of like a double elimination
- 26:21Speaker 3: thing where they have to beat the winner twice. They
- 26:22Speaker 3: can't just like lose once, come back and then win
- 26:25Speaker 3: the championship over somebody who hasn't lost yet. Does that
- 26:28Speaker 3: make sense?
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yes, that's another thing that doesn't make any sense. How
- 26:31Speaker 2: are you going to bring somebody in there and then
- 26:33Speaker 2: they're allowed to compete even though they've had less competition time,
- 26:38Speaker 2: like they've skipped over certain rounds and now they have
- 26:42Speaker 2: a chance to win. That's unlike what American Idol did
- 26:45Speaker 2: with wild Card, Like they're trying to do the wild
- 26:48Speaker 2: card right now. And I keep comparing Bachelor to American
- 26:51Speaker 2: Idol right now, but I love it, and yes, American Idol, Yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 2: the Love Bachelor too. Yeah, we're talking about the heyday
- 26:58Speaker 2: American Ile. We're not talking about car American Idol, but
- 27:02Speaker 2: wild Card made well actually, okay, we're not going to
- 27:05Speaker 2: get into it. I'm not recapping American Idol right now.
- 27:07Speaker 2: All right, Well, guys, so next week's the finale, which
- 27:10Speaker 2: means that we're going to be seeing the makeover of
- 27:13Speaker 2: the terrace and then probably be going into a final competition,
- 27:17Speaker 2: which we don't know what it'll be. What could it be?
- 27:21Speaker 2: My last question to you, Yeah, yeah, that's you would
- 27:25Speaker 2: like the pool area. I want to show you how
- 27:27Speaker 2: they they put in a gym in a little like
- 27:32Speaker 2: coffee bar, like a little like a refreshment station, and
- 27:36Speaker 2: they also put in a grill and they put in
- 27:40Speaker 2: barstools and stuff like that, put lounge chairs in. I
- 27:44Speaker 2: don't know unless it is like the fountain, but they
- 27:47Speaker 2: didn't know. If they didn't, they didn't. I can tell
- 27:51Speaker 2: you that now because we saw the screener.
- 27:53Speaker 3: At the beginning.
- 27:54Speaker 2: The opening is yeah, exactly as already. Love you guys.
- 27:59Speaker 2: I My brain was everywhere during that podcast. I feel
- 28:02Speaker 2: like a dumbass.
- 28:03Speaker 3: No, that's what a podcast is for, supposed to talk
- 28:05Speaker 3: about the news. This is one of the news, but
- 28:06Speaker 3: also like people want to know about Tarror filmco.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I'm not talking about that Taylor for heapall stuff. I'm
- 28:11Speaker 2: just talking about just my my brain in general.
- 28:14Speaker 3: No, you were good.
- 28:14Speaker 2: No, I'm did a great mentally Fried I.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Think, well, two kids NonStop.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I gotta work on it all right, guys, thank you
- 28:21Speaker 2: so much. Anyway, I'll be more articulate when we come
- 28:24Speaker 2: and talk about Taylor. Until next time, I've been Ashley,
- 28:27Speaker 2: I've been me.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Followed the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast on
- 28:34Speaker 1: iHeartRadio or subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.
