- 0:03These days, we talking about July 2nd, 2026.
- 0:08These days, we don't see kindness.
- 0:13Not on a major s- scale like we used to, we do not see kindness.
- 0:20What is this message today about?
- 0:22Kindness.
- 0:25Why are we having a discussion about something so elementary, a behavior that's so simple that it used to be normal?
- 0:38In Colossians 3:12, New American Standard Bible,"So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." We dealing with kindness.
- 1:06Now, why am I telling you this?
- 1:10I called a friend of mine this morning, Mike, and he let me know he had to go home because his brother passed away And his brother had issues.
- 1:26Drugs, more than likely alcohol, but he passed away.
- 1:31And they're gonna-- And he went up there to barbecue.
- 1:35They're gonna cremate him.
- 1:36And why this is powerful, because the Lord, he gave me this message.
- 1:41And then to watch a person do a act of kindness, there's no benefit to him.
- 1:49He's just being kind.
- 1:52That is rare today.
- 1:55We're talking about kindness.
- 1:58July 2nd, 2026, when evil is ravaged, people are doing whatever they wanna do, we don't see a lot of kindness In the Book of Proverbs 11:17, it talks about,"A merciful person does himself good, but a cruel person does himself harm." Let's deal with this word kindness.
- 2:28What is the definition?
- 2:30Is a behavioral quality marked by what?
- 2:36Acts of gen- generosity, consideration, or concern for others, driven by genuine warm feeling rather than expectation of praise or reward.
- 2:54This word merciful, someone who is compassionate, forgiving, or kind, especially when they have the power or authority.
- 3:08I was talking to a young man at work, and I was mentioning how I buy-- I bought another young man a car, and that's a young man, he's in his 50s.
- 3:19Why?
- 3:19I had the power to do it.
- 3:22I treated him like I would want somebody to treat me.
- 3:25Now, is it gonna change his life?
- 3:27No.
- 3:29But nonetheless, you gotta do what you think is right for the moment.
- 3:35Kindness I sit down and I try to explain to some people why it's easy to be kind.
- 3:47It's rare.
- 3:49It's easy though, if you have the spirit of God.
- 3:53Kindness is a behavior, a characteristic that you-- that will be embedded in you.
- 3:59Why?
- 4:00'Cause you are now operating with the same spirit that God operates from, which is kindness.
- 4:07It's a characteristic.
- 4:10I expect to be kind to people.
- 4:14Why?
- 4:14That's who I am.
- 4:16Now, if you really grab a hold of this in logical sense, it's hard for a person who's cruel to be kind, to be merciful.
- 4:31Why?
- 4:31That's not who they are.
- 4:33So I don't look for those behaviors in the average person Okay, let me, let me go, let me go a little deeper then.
- 4:42Let me go a little deeper so you really can grab a hold of this thing here now.
- 4:46See, I'm not shocked when I see people do cruel things.
- 4:53That's how most people are I can walk into any church And see cruel people.
- 5:05See why they gossiping about others.
- 5:08See why they hating this person over here.
- 5:12I can't do that.
- 5:13Same way I can't do it if I go to any club.
- 5:17That's people...
- 5:20It's rare to find someone that's merciful, that's kind.
- 5:29To be real with you, if you really look at the rest of these, we talking about humility, gentleness, patience.
- 5:38We talking about a person who has a compassionate heart.
- 5:41These things go together with kindness People keep trying to teach this.
- 5:51You can't teach this.
- 5:53Sorry, you can't.
- 5:55You can teach people how to do a kind act, but you can't teach them to be kind because of who they are.
- 6:06Okay, let me, let me, let me go a little deeper there.
- 6:07Let me go a little deeper When I used to go to the prison, or go to the hospital, or go to feed the homeless, or go to help those people who are addicted on drugs or who in a halfway place or who try...
- 6:29When I do those things, I don't do those things'cause other people get to see it.
- 6:34I do those things because the people who are there know that most people ain't gonna do this.
- 6:42They're not coming to the nursing home and reading the word of God with them, or coming to the nursing home to just help push them or talk to them.
- 6:51That doesn't benefit the average person.
- 6:55We're talking about kindness.
- 6:57Now, in the book of Ga- of Galatians 5, it start in verse 22 to 23, it start talking about kindness, the characteristic of the spirit of God.
- 7:12Well, if you got the spirit of God and God character is kindness, you should have kindness It's complicated.
- 7:24Most people, they try to do good acts without the heart of God.
- 7:30It's not gonna work.
- 7:31Without the spirit of God, it's not gonna work.
- 7:35So, and when I was talking about Mike, I knew Mike now for over 33 years.
- 7:41This is who he is.
- 7:44I mean, you talking about taking care of the homeless, even bringing them into his house.
- 7:50I mean, this is who he is, and I surround myself with people like that.
- 7:57Why?
- 7:58Because I know they're real.
- 8:03I got a group of friends, without a doubt in my mind, they are truly Godsent, because most people are not kind.
- 8:13I tell people this all the time.
- 8:16I says,"I don't expect you to change." Why?
- 8:20Because change is hard.
- 8:23Most people, by their nature, they're selfish.
- 8:28I don't mind helping somebody, but what I won't do is I won't be a ha- I won't be a crutch for you.
- 8:34I'm not gonna keep helping you out of situations that you're not gonna change from.
- 8:42Sometimes you have to allow a person to learn for themselves this decision is gonna cause me this problem.
- 8:51I've done it.
- 8:52Made a lot of mistakes, but I learned from them and I try not to repeat them.
- 8:58We're not going into depth today.
- 8:59We just talking about kindness.
- 9:01When you see someone...
- 9:02'Cause I told a guy yesterday, I said,"Man, thank you for your kind act." All he did was hold the door.
- 9:07I try to do a kind act without even thinking every day.
- 9:11I really do.
- 9:12If it's just holding a door open for somebody, got it.
- 9:17We talking about kindness.
- 9:19Something that's rare today, but I must say, I love it.
- 9:23It is what it is.
- 9:25That is His word
