- 1:52Speaker 4: Yeah? So yeah, it's a very good day. So here's
- 1:55Speaker 4: the thing.
- 1:55Speaker 3: If you're if you're a bit of a weather nerd,
- 1:58Speaker 3: Deb and I happen to be weather nerds. Today's a
- 2:00Speaker 3: good day because today is the first day we've heard
- 2:02Speaker 3: possibly about a first blast.
- 2:03Speaker 6: Oh it's that time. It's first last time.
- 2:06Speaker 4: First blast, looking for a first blast? Sauce? Are those
- 2:11Speaker 4: are those worthers in your pocket? Are happy to see you? Listen?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Sad people like it when it's cold, That's what we're saying.
- 2:19Speaker 7: Jesus side. That is fantastic news. It's the best. It's
- 2:22Speaker 7: the best time of year. Pumpkin spice loss face off. Yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 7: spooky movie, yeah all that.
- 2:28Speaker 4: But have you seen Weapon Jet?
- 2:30Speaker 7: No, dude, no, I know more about that behind the
- 2:34Speaker 7: scenes of that movie than you do, and I have
- 2:38Speaker 7: seen it easy face.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah that did sound a little tricky. Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I get a bigger heart than you.
- 2:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I can't even realize.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I just I saw the movie and found
- 2:47Speaker 3: it to be unique because of the horror kind of
- 2:50Speaker 3: uh genre that they dive into for this particular movie,
- 2:54Speaker 3: which is very rarely done.
- 2:55Speaker 4: So I love it. I thought it was great. Do
- 2:57Speaker 4: you know the Jordan Peel element today, I do not.
- 3:01Speaker 7: Yeah, So that script was floating behind the scenes, I believe,
- 3:06Speaker 7: to all this big studios and then it got to
- 3:09Speaker 7: Monkey Paul Productions. The rumor is that there's a massive
- 3:13Speaker 7: bidding war for that script. Word got out. This script
- 3:17Speaker 7: is amazing. Someone's gonna make this movie and make a
- 3:19Speaker 7: lot of money. And Jordan Peele wanted the rights to
- 3:23Speaker 7: the movie. His people did not get the deal done,
- 3:26Speaker 7: and then he ended up letting go his team that
- 3:30Speaker 7: was responsible for trying to get the rights of the script. Well,
- 3:34Speaker 7: that's wild, and I just find it cool because you know,
- 3:38Speaker 7: never forget words in front of other words in the
- 3:41Speaker 7: perfect order. Still fetches a pretty high price. Yeah, because
- 3:46Speaker 7: the rights of the script ended up costing millions and
- 3:50Speaker 7: millions of dollars.
- 3:51Speaker 4: It's wild.
- 3:52Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:52Speaker 3: The funny thing is is, you know, the cast has
- 3:55Speaker 3: two stars in the cast, and one of the stars,
- 3:57Speaker 3: Josh Brolin, does play a role you know is important,
- 4:01Speaker 3: but really not as much as you know the lady
- 4:03Speaker 3: that's the star of the show, Amy Madigan. She's awesome.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I mean you'll know her as Ed Harris's wife. They've
- 4:09Speaker 3: been together forty something years or whatever, and She's fantastic,
- 4:13Speaker 3: all the kid actors fantastic. It's a really interesting movie,
- 4:16Speaker 3: and I love these unique takes on a horror I
- 4:18Speaker 3: really do.
- 4:19Speaker 8: You know.
- 4:19Speaker 7: What's one of my new barometers of finding out if
- 4:21Speaker 7: a movie's really good, especially in the horror genre, is
- 4:25Speaker 7: if how much could you spoil that movie right now?
- 4:29Speaker 6: I mean totally because you said yesterday, if you even
- 4:32Speaker 6: explained a little bit of the plot.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Right, here's what happens, right, yeah, you know, but it's tough, no.
- 4:37Speaker 7: But simple movies are like, yeah, this happens you've seen
- 4:40Speaker 7: in a million.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Times, right.
- 4:41Speaker 3: The problem is if I even say just one word,
- 4:44Speaker 3: the minute you start kind of getting introduced to certain
- 4:46Speaker 3: characters in the movie, you kind of start feeling where
- 4:49Speaker 3: it's going. And I think that's one of the biggest
- 4:51Speaker 3: takes of the film is the fact is that you
- 4:53Speaker 3: really don't know what the f is going on for
- 4:55Speaker 3: like a good hour.
- 4:56Speaker 7: And that's the one common review that I've heard about
- 4:59Speaker 7: the movie which makes me so happy.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Which is exactly what you just said.
- 5:03Speaker 7: I have no idea your end of BAC two is
- 5:06Speaker 7: when you go, oh, oh yeah, yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it's one of those Yeah, it's one of nail.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And then it gets real. So yeah, yeah, very interesting movie.
- 5:13Speaker 3: You check it out if you haven't perfect for the season.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Right now, I was gonna say, I have a I
- 5:18Speaker 5: pulled this.
- 5:19Speaker 6: I haven't read the list yet, but I have thirty
- 5:21Speaker 6: one best horror movies of all time?
- 5:23Speaker 4: Oh ranks many.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I started watching Halloween a right as I was flipping
- 5:26Speaker 3: around saw Halloween clicked on it. It was a stupid
- 5:29Speaker 3: rob zombie version of it, which is dog s.
- 5:32Speaker 4: I just clicked right off of it.
- 5:33Speaker 3: And I was like, man, if it's not the og, like,
- 5:36Speaker 3: if you have a movie that horrifying, and I think
- 5:38Speaker 3: the lower the budget, the scarier it is. If you
- 5:41Speaker 3: look some of the most horrifying movies of all time.
- 5:43Speaker 3: A lot of Witch projects have scared me right, super
- 5:46Speaker 3: low budgets, the paranormal activity stuff, really budget Texas Chainsaw,
- 5:51Speaker 3: low budget, Halloween low budget.
- 5:53Speaker 7: Do you know why, like exactly why those low budget
- 5:57Speaker 7: films have made such an impact?
- 5:59Speaker 3: Is it the me ross I don't know about what
- 6:01Speaker 3: you're gonna say. It's the feel of it feels kind
- 6:03Speaker 3: of scary.
- 6:04Speaker 7: It's the business model and the foundation where those types
- 6:07Speaker 7: of movies come from, which are film festivals, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 7: paranormal activity. On the other side of the coin, there's
- 6:14Speaker 7: a massive community that one person broke through. So it's
- 6:18Speaker 7: not because of one idea, it's from the best idea
- 6:22Speaker 7: out of a thousand plus that breaks through to the
- 6:27Speaker 7: next tier, which is usually the movie theaters that your
- 6:30Speaker 7: average Joe would then attend, right And I think you're
- 6:33Speaker 7: right there because you know, although now the Terrifier character
- 6:37Speaker 7: is now like mainstream because now he Terrifier has a
- 6:40Speaker 7: house at Halloween hard Knights, I think, which is almost
- 6:43Speaker 7: one of your crowning achievements in horror right now, is
- 6:45Speaker 7: to have a partnership with Universal will be part of
- 6:47Speaker 7: that Halloween har Knights thing. It seems like all the
- 6:49Speaker 7: biggest franchises have worked their way into that.
- 6:51Speaker 4: But I would put it on a resume. Yeah I
- 6:53Speaker 4: would too.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But what I'm saying is is like that guy kind
- 6:55Speaker 3: of flew under the radar to really gore fans. For
- 6:58Speaker 3: the longest time, nobody really knew what Terrifier was unless
- 7:01Speaker 3: you were really into the gore horror thing. You never
- 7:04Speaker 3: really that never really hit your radar because it is
- 7:06Speaker 3: like X rated gore. It's out there. But because that
- 7:10Speaker 3: type of genre is so popular now. When Terrifier three
- 7:14Speaker 3: came out, it went crazy every I mean it was
- 7:16Speaker 3: like mainstream commercials, you know, digital ads everywhere for it,
- 7:20Speaker 3: and nobody had heard of that character, not even like
- 7:22Speaker 3: eight years ago, you know.
- 7:23Speaker 7: So, like, to my knowledge, like the business model of
- 7:27Speaker 7: these movies that are low budget that hit that next tier.
- 7:30Speaker 7: They're in a competition, they're in film festivals, and it's
- 7:34Speaker 7: kind of iron sharpening iron where the most clever idea
- 7:38Speaker 7: rises to the crop, and right at the top of
- 7:41Speaker 7: that crop, all of a sudden paramount comes in and
- 7:43Speaker 7: goes like, we love this idea, we want to make
- 7:45Speaker 7: it into ninety minutes how much?
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you're seeing.
- 7:49Speaker 7: The best of the best of the best from like
- 7:52Speaker 7: multiple chapters with Paranormal and all those movies that you're
- 7:56Speaker 7: at all down.
- 7:57Speaker 3: And the cool thing is so social media now, you know,
- 7:59Speaker 3: there're any movie that can be made has a bit
- 8:02Speaker 3: of a platform. You know, you can get some views,
- 8:04Speaker 3: you know, you can get a you can get a
- 8:05Speaker 3: vibe going from a movie.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Now you don't have to have a major studio involved
- 8:08Speaker 4: with it. It's not always the case of how those
- 8:11Speaker 4: movies get made but it is a case that still
- 8:14Speaker 4: happens enough to bring up all right.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Four seven nine one six one o four one is
- 8:18Speaker 3: National Taco Day today?
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah, oh my god, they brought some I don't know
- 8:23Speaker 4: who brought that food in today.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Big taco. Oh, big taco. That's uh, thanks check. I
- 8:28Speaker 3: appreciate your leaning in for the two words that segment.
- 8:31Speaker 3: You know what I gave you the right one.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Uh.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I had some chips and salt and stuff that's always good, delicious.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Did you get anything to eat their ross?
- 8:40Speaker 7: I just hate this like it's not their fault. It's
- 8:44Speaker 7: because I showed up late. I just had to pillage
- 8:46Speaker 7: what was left. Yeah, yeah, or, as I should say,
- 8:49Speaker 7: I colonized what was.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Tacos that were delivered at nine thirty this morning?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah?
- 8:56Speaker 4: Was it that long? Oh yeah?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Did you eat that chicken?
- 9:00Speaker 9: No?
- 9:00Speaker 4: No, it say good knowing you he went for the pork. No,
- 9:04Speaker 4: not even that.
- 9:05Speaker 7: I just had a hardshell taco rice beans damn really yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 7: and then I ate it.
- 9:10Speaker 4: It was delicious trade vegin. It was very good, but
- 9:13Speaker 4: it was also not ideal.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I got a lot of stuff to talk about. More
- 9:16Speaker 3: information coming out on the Mark Sanchez case. I'm sure
- 9:19Speaker 3: you'll have a little bit about that news, but man,
- 9:20Speaker 3: it is crazy.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Of course the guy I saved that all for you,
- 9:23Speaker 4: very nice.
- 9:24Speaker 3: The guy is now suing not only Mark Sanchez, but
- 9:27Speaker 3: he's also suing Fox.
- 9:28Speaker 4: No, yeah, it is interesting.
- 9:31Speaker 10: It is that gets you, Jack, What did Fox do?
- 9:34Speaker 3: Well, here's what here's what they're claiming. And you kind
- 9:37Speaker 3: of had to see this coming, right, yeah, because it's.
- 9:39Speaker 5: A bigger page.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Yeah, people going after where the money is. Sure, Yeah, yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 4: I mean that's what litigation is all about.
- 9:45Speaker 10: But no, well, yeah, in this case, it's the responsible party.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Right, yeah, because here's the thing. What he say, what
- 9:53Speaker 3: he's basically saying is or he's alleging. And to be
- 9:55Speaker 3: honest with you, I did a little research today. DEVI
- 9:57Speaker 3: and I were sitting in here. I went to his
- 9:58Speaker 3: Wikipedia page, a couple others horses. I couldn't really find
- 10:01Speaker 3: anything like this in Mark Sanchez's history. No sense, no violence,
- 10:05Speaker 3: no alcoholism, no nothing like that. But I think that's
- 10:07Speaker 3: what they're kind of leaning on. Just the butt hoping
- 10:10Speaker 3: that this guy right, just the butt fumble, hoping that
- 10:12Speaker 3: this guy has a history of alcohol problems or maybe
- 10:14Speaker 3: behavioral problems that Fox may be covered up, because that's
- 10:18Speaker 3: what they're saying is is that they would have what's
- 10:20Speaker 3: the word, they would have the nurtured that type of
- 10:25Speaker 3: behavior from him, or at least covered it up and
- 10:28Speaker 3: hit it so that it didn't come out. But this
- 10:30Speaker 3: guy is, you know, pretty blanked up. I don't know
- 10:32Speaker 3: if you ever saw his picture from the from the
- 10:34Speaker 3: hospital bit.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Did you see it? Ross?
- 10:36Speaker 9: No?
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yeah, the guy that Sanchez beat up the hospital picture
- 10:38Speaker 3: is pretty bad. It looks like he was an MMA
- 10:40Speaker 3: fighter who just wouldn't stop wailed on.
- 10:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I just had his chee cut up into the point
- 10:45Speaker 3: where I believe you could put your fingers through there.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Something only got something like that. Sanchez got stabbed a bunch.
- 10:51Speaker 3: What I heard today was he said he was happy
- 10:53Speaker 3: to be alive, pleading not guilty on multiple charges, including
- 10:57Speaker 3: a level five felony no felonies went to level yeah,
- 11:02Speaker 3: and the other four levels three thousand and the other
- 11:04Speaker 3: thing we've talked about, this guy was sixty nine years old. Now,
- 11:06Speaker 3: I don't know what the I don't know what the
- 11:08Speaker 3: rule is in Indiana.
- 11:09Speaker 4: What's our break?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Hair Jack for that that added that added feature when
- 11:15Speaker 3: you when you battered the elderly?
- 11:18Speaker 4: Is what age is that? Oh? Is it sixty five?
- 11:20Speaker 4: I think I believe it's over sixty. I think it's sixty
- 11:22Speaker 4: five here in Florida. It must be enhanced charges.
- 11:25Speaker 3: It must be pretty close to that Indiana, because I
- 11:27Speaker 3: heard that mentioned today as well, that not only is
- 11:29Speaker 3: he facing these charges, they could be certainly enhanced because
- 11:32Speaker 3: the guy was sixty nine years old, and you know
- 11:34Speaker 3: Mark Sanchez thirty eight years old and of course a
- 11:37Speaker 3: former professional athlete.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Weird. Have you heard the story? Ross? Not exactly. I
- 11:42Speaker 4: just know that he got into a squabble and damage
- 11:45Speaker 4: was done on both sides.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Apparently it was over a parking space, Like he didn't
- 11:49Speaker 3: think the guy should be parking in the area where
- 11:51Speaker 3: he was parking to do his job, so he approached
- 11:53Speaker 3: the truck, smelled of alcohol.
- 11:55Speaker 4: They went up with an altercation.
- 11:57Speaker 3: The guy's pepper sprayed Sanchez, He wiped it away, came
- 11:59Speaker 3: out of again. The dude pulls out a knife, stabs
- 12:01Speaker 3: him a number of times, and then the in turn
- 12:04Speaker 3: gets his cheek blanked up, and then he does walk
- 12:07Speaker 3: to a bar by the way. That's where they found him.
- 12:09Speaker 3: He walked to another bar like a tavern thing.
- 12:10Speaker 10: Oh wow, I mean he's out of nowhere, stuffing cocktail
- 12:14Speaker 10: napkins in his wound.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess. I don't know. That's where they found him.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Do you believe it? I know that the event happened,
- 12:20Speaker 4: but they haven't. Do you believe the guy that walks
- 12:23Speaker 4: away going like you know Mark Sanchez just did this time?
- 12:26Speaker 1: Oh?
- 12:26Speaker 3: Yeah, probably not. But they have video of the entire thing. Yes,
- 12:30Speaker 3: the surveillance cameras apparently captured at all. So we have
- 12:35Speaker 3: that little bit to talk about a little bit later today,
- 12:37Speaker 3: texting Jesus, there's a Mexican restaurant that's making a comeback
- 12:41Speaker 3: and I'm all for it.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Prime Days is today as well. Where those were those
- 12:44Speaker 4: two different stories are one.
- 12:46Speaker 3: This is all just different stuff. Have you seen this
- 12:48Speaker 3: PBS story? No, you know, as the tariffs and as
- 12:51Speaker 3: these cuts from the Trump administration kind of hit PBS.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Of course, we know that they voted to a partially
- 12:57Speaker 3: defund some of that programming there looking for ways to
- 13:01Speaker 3: create money to fill those holes, and they've done it,
- 13:05Speaker 3: and it's a unique way they've done that as well,
- 13:07Speaker 3: plus a bunch of other stuff you know, can you
- 13:09Speaker 3: merge in the or can you pass traffic in the
- 13:11Speaker 3: merging lane? That was a question today for trippers, Steve.
- 13:13Speaker 3: We'll have that answer as well. What do you get
- 13:15Speaker 3: for news?
- 13:15Speaker 6: Ag Bondi faces a grilling on Capitol Hill. Tropical storm
- 13:19Speaker 6: Jerry forms in the Atlantic, and now that's a very
- 13:23Speaker 6: good dog. We'll talk about that and more coming up
- 13:25Speaker 6: next during JCS news.
- 13:27Speaker 3: That's right, Cash is your three o'clock keyword, that's c ash.

- 14:11Speaker 3: I thought that he is here as well. Believe in
- 14:13Speaker 3: yourself and deb has your news.
- 14:18Speaker 2: It's time for JCS news. Wow.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Has this guy got to put his name on everything?
- 14:24Speaker 3: It's in my contracted here's the news on the Jim
- 14:27Speaker 3: Colberg Show.
- 14:28Speaker 6: And JCS news is brought to you by that mortgage
- 14:31Speaker 6: guy Don. Attorney General Pam Bondi testified before senators on
- 14:35Speaker 6: Capitol Hill. She faced questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee
- 14:39Speaker 6: about the deployment of the National Guard to cities across
- 14:41Speaker 6: the country files related to Jeffrey Epstein and former Special
- 14:46Speaker 6: Special Jack Smith's investigation into false electors. Senator Amy Klobashar
- 14:51Speaker 6: asked ag Bondi if the gun lawn she defended here
- 14:54Speaker 6: in Florida after the Parkland shooting to raise the age
- 14:58Speaker 6: to buy a weapon could become federal law.
- 15:01Speaker 11: Perhaps we could find common ground on what actually happened
- 15:05Speaker 11: in Florida, which would be to at least change the
- 15:07Speaker 11: minimum age for purchasing assault weapon because eighteen to twenty
- 15:12Speaker 11: year olds commit gun homicides that over triple the rate
- 15:15Speaker 11: of adults twenty one years and over.
- 15:17Speaker 6: Now Bondi said gun purchase age requirement portion of the
- 15:20Speaker 6: Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act is pending litigation,
- 15:25Speaker 6: and therefore she can't discuss it.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Yeah, all right.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is picking up endorsements from
- 15:32Speaker 6: fifty one of the state's sixty seven county sheriffs, supporters
- 15:37Speaker 6: highlight his tough on crime stance as he campaigns for
- 15:39Speaker 6: a full term in office. Uthmeyer was appointed earlier this
- 15:43Speaker 6: year by Governor Ron De Santis and is the leading
- 15:46Speaker 6: Republican in the race. The Republican Attorney General Association is
- 15:50Speaker 6: also backing him with major financial support.
- 15:53Speaker 1: All right.
- 15:54Speaker 6: The second anniversary of the October seventh attacks is being
- 15:57Speaker 6: observed in South Florida as ceasefire talk continue in Egypt
- 16:01Speaker 6: between Israel and Hamas. I Let Black, Deputy Council General
- 16:05Speaker 6: of Israel and Miami, is praying for the safe return
- 16:08Speaker 6: of the remaining Israeli hostages.
- 16:11Speaker 9: We're hoping that any Dana will hear better news, but
- 16:14Speaker 9: to market with forty eight hostages still in Gaza, it's
- 16:17Speaker 9: hard to express.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Hamas reportedly confirms it will release the remaining Israeli hostages
- 16:22Speaker 6: in exchange for Palestinians jailed in Israel, but the group
- 16:26Speaker 6: has stopped short of agreeing to calls to disarm.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, that's like the worst tennis game of
- 16:32Speaker 3: all time.
- 16:32Speaker 4: I know you better do it. I'm not going to
- 16:35Speaker 4: do it. You better do it. I'm not going to
- 16:36Speaker 4: do it. I'll see you next month. I wish you
- 16:41Speaker 4: weren't wrong, but you are.
- 16:43Speaker 6: A rally has planned before tonight's Duval County School Board
- 16:46Speaker 6: meeting Duval, Duval in support of a reassigned teacher, Hope
- 16:51Speaker 6: McMath was removed from her classroom.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Is that not the most perfect teacher name? Nick Math?
- 16:57Speaker 4: If she's a math teacher? No, I think she's so said.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Does she teaches Spanish? Yeah?
- 17:03Speaker 6: Hope McMath was removed from her classroom at Douglas Anderson
- 17:06Speaker 6: School of the Arts after posting controversial comments on social media.
- 17:10Speaker 6: Her supporters say the move violates her First Amendment rights,
- 17:13Speaker 6: while critics argue she crossed professional lines. Now, the district
- 17:17Speaker 6: says McMath remains under investigation and hasn't announced when or
- 17:21Speaker 6: if she'll be able to return ah tropical storm Jerry
- 17:26Speaker 6: can't wait till his friend Karen shows up.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Oh man, if a storm could be a Stepdad with
- 17:34Speaker 4: sketchers at all, Jerry, untuck.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Your shirt from your and your shorts don't need a belt.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Tropical Storm Jerry has formed in the Eastern Atlantic. The
- 17:44Speaker 6: National Hurricane Center says it's east of the Leeward Islands,
- 17:47Speaker 6: with maximum sustained winds of forty five miles per hour.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Jerry is what.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Name storm of the twenty twenty five season?
- 17:54Speaker 5: How many have we had?
- 17:55Speaker 4: Guys?
- 17:55Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 17:55Speaker 4: I just want everybody on the East Coast to stand
- 17:57Speaker 4: and scream at it. You're not my dad.
- 18:00Speaker 10: I think fashion rules, and I know a thing or
- 18:03Speaker 10: two about fashion rules would dictate that if your shorts
- 18:06Speaker 10: have belt loops, you should be wearing a belt.
- 18:08Speaker 6: That's the most bad thing you could have said, right there.
- 18:10Speaker 6: Thirteenth okay, thirteen fourteen, twelve points ross ten, but is
- 18:19Speaker 6: expected to become the season's fifth hurricane. The best news
- 18:22Speaker 6: of all is that the National Hurricane Center says Jerry
- 18:25Speaker 6: does not pose a threat to the US East Coast.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Once again, another storm that's expected to curve out toward
- 18:31Speaker 6: possibly Bermuda, maybe possibly being an issue for them. Poor
- 18:35Speaker 6: folks in the North Carolina, though they could be looking
- 18:37Speaker 6: at a northeaster that's going to sit over them for
- 18:39Speaker 6: several days, pushing how many more homes, Oh, a bunch
- 18:43Speaker 6: into the.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Ocean yet nine so far in the outer Bank.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Yeah exactly.
- 18:46Speaker 10: I mean, you don't have to tuck your shirt in,
- 18:48Speaker 10: but if belt loops are there.
- 18:50Speaker 4: You should have a belt. Jerry's the only hurricane who
- 18:52Speaker 4: has feathers.
- 18:57Speaker 6: All right, There could be flooding today on the The
- 19:00Speaker 6: National Weather Service has a coastal flood Advisory in effect
- 19:03Speaker 6: until five pm tomorrow for Brevard and Valusha Counties. Flooding
- 19:08Speaker 6: could occurrent low lying lots, parks, roadways near the shoreline.
- 19:11Speaker 6: Isolated road closures are also possible. I don't know if
- 19:14Speaker 6: you guys had a chance to see Daytona beach this morning,
- 19:17Speaker 6: like at ten ten thirty, but there was no beach.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Yeah that's that big story. He just popped up in
- 19:21Speaker 4: my news.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Yeah, it's high tide. And not only is it high tide,
- 19:24Speaker 6: but it's king tide. You know, we've got a full moon,
- 19:26Speaker 6: and it was like the ocean came right up to
- 19:29Speaker 6: the sea wall.
- 19:30Speaker 4: There is no beach. So again, Terry's are pretty intrusive.
- 19:36Speaker 6: A man accused of killing a police officer in Vlusha
- 19:38Speaker 6: County could get the death penalty. Seventh District State Attorney R. J.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Loizza announced yesterday he intends to seek the death penalty
- 19:46Speaker 6: against Eduardo Labrada Machado. He's charged with murder and the
- 19:51Speaker 6: death of Edgewater police officer David Jewell last month. Jewell
- 19:55Speaker 6: was off duty, just simply waiting to pay for his
- 19:57Speaker 6: hot dog when Michado allegedly shot him twenty times inside
- 20:02Speaker 6: a circle k and Ormond by the Sea.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it was an execution, and it was ambush execution.
- 20:07Speaker 3: They should fast track expressed literally express past this guy
- 20:12Speaker 3: to the to the gurney.
- 20:13Speaker 6: This is I mean, that's what the death penalty was
- 20:15Speaker 6: created for. Unfortunately, we had covered this story last night
- 20:20Speaker 6: during you heard it here first, and there's been a
- 20:22Speaker 6: tragic turn. A fifteen year old girl has died after
- 20:25Speaker 6: being shot outside at restaurant and what's believed to have
- 20:28Speaker 6: been a targeted attack. Bavarc County Sheriff Wayne Ivy says
- 20:32Speaker 6: people in two different vehicles started firing at each other
- 20:35Speaker 6: outside of business Monday afternoon.
- 20:38Speaker 9: It appears this.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Was an ambush that took place, some type of retaliatory thing,
- 20:43Speaker 4: if you will. But it appears to be a very
- 20:45Speaker 4: isolated incident. Now.
- 20:47Speaker 6: Ivy says it appears the shooters and victims knew each other.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Two males who were shot are expected to survive. Apparently
- 20:53Speaker 6: these three were sitting in a car outside the restaurant
- 20:56Speaker 6: tried to leave when the assailants pulled in and blocked him.
- 20:59Speaker 4: And then people get out of their cars and it's like.
- 21:01Speaker 6: The you know gtaw, yeah exactly exactly, we're.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Getting this before GTA six comes out. Yeah yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 6: An Orange County smoke shop worker allegedly kidnapped and beat
- 21:14Speaker 6: three teenagers who are accused of burglarizing his store. Okay,
- 21:19Speaker 6: the Sheriff's office is wrong. That's what I was waiting
- 21:21Speaker 6: to hear. What his response to me, because mine was
- 21:23Speaker 6: kind of like, I mean, I'm a little okay with this.
- 21:26Speaker 6: I don't know if it's a fair response. What were
- 21:31Speaker 6: the ages here to palming a pipe?
- 21:33Speaker 3: I don't know, kidnapping somebody and threatening their life is
- 21:36Speaker 3: worth a twenty two dollars glass pipe. But you know
- 21:39Speaker 3: what you do, you.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Doug, exactly well, The Sheriff's office responded to a kidnapping
- 21:43Speaker 6: report at an Orlando home. Now that's where they found
- 21:46Speaker 6: a fifteen year old boy who had head injuries. The
- 21:49Speaker 6: teen says he was beaten by the suspect, identified as
- 21:52Speaker 6: Joe Manuel Rosco Banko. Two other boys were also allegedly
- 21:57Speaker 6: kidnapped and beaten. Bikero was arrested on charges of aggravated
- 22:01Speaker 6: battery with a firearm and kidnapping.
- 22:03Speaker 7: God, you know how many years that is, guys, God,
- 22:05Speaker 7: you know how many years it would take for you
- 22:07Speaker 7: to say that name.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Yeah, just turned, I just ended. I would end it
- 22:14Speaker 4: all on try four racking up done.
- 22:19Speaker 9: Well.
- 22:19Speaker 6: You and I were talking a little bit about this
- 22:21Speaker 6: story because this to me is terrifying, the circumstances behind it.
- 22:25Speaker 6: Because a Tesla driver was killed after an accident involving
- 22:28Speaker 6: two tractor trailers on I four in Lake Mary. Authority
- 22:31Speaker 6: say the car stopped and the center lane on Monday
- 22:36Speaker 6: night inexplicably just stopped in the center lane and was
- 22:40Speaker 6: hit behind from.
- 22:41Speaker 5: A big rig.
- 22:41Speaker 6: The first big rig was able to swerve out of
- 22:44Speaker 6: the way, but the second big rig didn't have enough
- 22:46Speaker 6: time to stop horf so he plows into the back
- 22:49Speaker 6: of the Tesla that pushes the Tesla back into the
- 22:52Speaker 6: first semi truck that was able to avoid the crash
- 22:55Speaker 6: tips that semi truck over Tesla driver unfortunately died at
- 22:58Speaker 6: the scene. The truck drivers were not hurt, but FHP
- 23:02Speaker 6: is investigating. But again, what would make your car just
- 23:05Speaker 6: stop on a highway, not even on You're not even
- 23:08Speaker 6: on one of the you know, outside lanes where you
- 23:10Speaker 6: could escape to the emergency lane.
- 23:12Speaker 5: You're right smack dab in the middle of I four.
- 23:15Speaker 10: Since a business model for newer vehicles is you have
- 23:18Speaker 10: to subscribe to monthly fees for certain services, was his
- 23:21Speaker 10: engine on a monthly fee? I did make the payment.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Could you imagine that they do research? And he was
- 23:28Speaker 3: like trying to Apple pay it in the middle of the.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I just want to point out that's not a Tesla joke.
- 23:33Speaker 7: Actually, that's Jack's overall hatred for paying for monthly fees.
- 23:40Speaker 4: If I tell Yota wants it, if I want to
- 23:42Speaker 4: start my car from the app, they want eight bucks
- 23:44Speaker 4: a month.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Oh really, thank you.
- 23:46Speaker 4: That's an odd manifestation of that anger.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Jack.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Did you just recently get that message?
- 23:52Speaker 10: You buy a car, you want the car. You don't
- 23:54Speaker 10: want to have to rent service. It's on a phone.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I shouldn't have to give you a monthly fee for
- 24:00Speaker 4: seat warmers. Yeah, he's one hundred percent right.
- 24:04Speaker 3: When I bought one of the old cheties that came
- 24:06Speaker 3: with that on Star thing, yeah, and I had it
- 24:08Speaker 3: free for three months, I'm like, this is the greatest.
- 24:10Speaker 4: And then it runs out and you.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Got to use it and they send you a message
- 24:13Speaker 3: he's like it's one hundred and thirty dollars a month.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Or I'm like, the f you it is? I hit
- 24:17Speaker 3: that thing where you can call them. But talking to
- 24:18Speaker 3: that operator and get that guy about an earful, I'm like,
- 24:20Speaker 3: what is this like?
- 24:22Speaker 4: Just check your manual. I'm not checking anything. I burned
- 24:25Speaker 4: that an hour ago down.
- 24:26Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 4: You get so used to going to on Star with
- 24:29Speaker 4: all your problems that when it runs out, you called
- 24:31Speaker 4: on Star. What is this?
- 24:34Speaker 10: So with the Tessa, I would that be the battery
- 24:37Speaker 10: running out completely?
- 24:39Speaker 4: Then does it just stop? Is that what happens?
- 24:41Speaker 6: I can't imagine that he would stay in the center
- 24:43Speaker 6: lane if he knew his battery was about to die.
- 24:45Speaker 6: I would like to think he'd get to one of
- 24:46Speaker 6: the outside lanes. To me, it just sounds like there
- 24:48Speaker 6: was some kind of malfunction and he's sitting in the
- 24:51Speaker 6: middle of I four near Lake Mary. It's not even
- 24:53Speaker 6: a lightly traveled spot.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Ye, And I'll tell you when we had our Mustang Machi,
- 24:57Speaker 3: one of the things that was really weird about it
- 24:59Speaker 3: is it would sometimes do that. We got lucky a
- 25:01Speaker 3: couple of times where it would just not respond that
- 25:04Speaker 3: we weren't in a situation where it could have been dire,
- 25:06Speaker 3: but it did happen.
- 25:07Speaker 4: And it'll also go through these software uploads, like.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Why you're supposed to do it while you're sleeping, while
- 25:11Speaker 3: it's plugged in, right, it'll do the software updating and
- 25:14Speaker 3: stuff of that nature. But sometimes it would do it
- 25:16Speaker 3: in really weird times. It didn't happen very often. But
- 25:19Speaker 3: the problem is like this, it doesn't need to happen
- 25:21Speaker 3: very often. It's when it happen exactly.
- 25:23Speaker 4: But here's the thing. You can't even get out of
- 25:24Speaker 4: the car. What are you supposed to do?
- 25:26Speaker 3: You're in the dead center of If you just can't
- 25:27Speaker 3: hop out of your car and crawl over the side
- 25:29Speaker 3: of the road, there's cars coming in eighty miles an hour,
- 25:31Speaker 3: then that gets on you.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Just like that. Man, it's so fast.
- 25:34Speaker 6: It's so fast, and there's also been stories of Tesla
- 25:36Speaker 6: drivers being trapped in their vehicles because if the car
- 25:38Speaker 6: senses an accident, it won't allow the doors to open.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 25:41Speaker 6: There have even been cases of Tesla drivers dying because
- 25:44Speaker 6: first responders can't get them out of the vehicles. All right,
- 25:47Speaker 6: Bekaseimy is considering a redevelopment plan to create jobs and
- 25:51Speaker 6: what sounds like housing in the area. Kudos to them
- 25:53Speaker 6: for thinking outside of the box. Oh, that's going to
- 25:56Speaker 6: play part of the story. City officials have their eyes
- 25:59Speaker 6: on the Kmart and Big Lot sites on West Vine Street.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Their plan includes six hundred and thirty new residential units,
- 26:07Speaker 6: retail and commercial space, and an indoor sports facility.
- 26:11Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 26:12Speaker 5: If approved.
- 26:12Speaker 6: City staff will enter negotiations with developers before the commission
- 26:16Speaker 6: signs off on the plan.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Those indoor sports things are kind of blowing up a
- 26:19Speaker 3: little bit. They started doing it with pickleball, and now
- 26:21Speaker 3: I think it's like, you know, they're becoming these facilities
- 26:23Speaker 3: where you can play like ping pong, pickleball, toness, wherever
- 26:26Speaker 3: the case may be. Because it's this summer, like you're
- 26:29Speaker 3: just basically it's like having it's like owning a ski slope,
- 26:32Speaker 3: you know, over like six months out of the business.
- 26:34Speaker 3: The out of the year, you're a business.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Yeah, well in Florida, I mean, anything outside its brutal.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Can't do it all right.
- 26:40Speaker 6: The NHL is spending two Tampa Bay Lightning players following
- 26:43Speaker 6: a wild preseason game against the Florida Panthers over the weekend.
- 26:47Speaker 6: In Sunrise, I included this story because I love a
- 26:49Speaker 6: good scrum oh at a hockey game.
- 26:51Speaker 7: This is so good and it's hard to embarrass yourself. Like,
- 26:54Speaker 7: that's triple the embarrassment you said preseason?
- 26:57Speaker 6: Mmm, uh yeah, I think the second the regular season
- 27:00Speaker 6: kicks off tonight, doesn't Yeah. Scott Siborin earned a four
- 27:04Speaker 6: game suspension for roughing, and JJ Moser will miss two
- 27:07Speaker 6: games for boarding.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Yeah, give it to him.
- 27:10Speaker 6: The league also find the Lightning one hundred thousand dollars
- 27:13Speaker 6: and head coach John Cooper twenty five thousand dollars, not
- 27:16Speaker 6: to mention all the dental work everyone's gonna need. The
- 27:19Speaker 6: game saw sixteen ejections and over three hundred penalty minutes.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Oh my god, preseason exactly.
- 27:29Speaker 6: They can't wait to rip off the gloves and tear
- 27:31Speaker 6: into each other.
- 27:32Speaker 4: That wasn't even the starters. But no panthers were disciplined.
- 27:37Speaker 1: All right.
- 27:38Speaker 6: A huge alligator is back where it belongs after it
- 27:40Speaker 6: was spotted out of Public's in Eastwood. The giant creature
- 27:43Speaker 6: was seen roaming outside the store on Sunday morning. Orange
- 27:46Speaker 6: County deputies responded to the scene and relocated the gator
- 27:50Speaker 6: to a nearby water source. No one was hurt, but
- 27:54Speaker 6: the gator did cause quite a stir.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Oh you can imagine. Oh yeah, you start rolling through
- 27:58Speaker 3: your public trying to get some fride chicken.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Sudden there's a gator asking you for fried chicken. Right,
- 28:05Speaker 4: there's a getting mister PIB. That's a good time, right,
- 28:09Speaker 4: But mister PIB with fried chicken, oh yeah, more than
- 28:12Speaker 4: dr peppers.
- 28:14Speaker 10: You're going to turn it down if there's you know
- 28:16Speaker 10: what you who are mister PIB?
- 28:18Speaker 4: What are you drinking?
- 28:19Speaker 9: Oh?
- 28:19Speaker 4: I'm drinking, mister PIB?
- 28:20Speaker 9: Are you crazy?
- 28:20Speaker 4: Out of this? Who doesn't like you? Who out of
- 28:23Speaker 4: the suffolx soft sodas? Yeah, I'm going doctor pepper.
- 28:27Speaker 7: They got the mister, They got the doctor out of
- 28:29Speaker 7: the mister and doctor I'm going doctor.
- 28:30Speaker 3: And I mean PIB is basically coke. Well Coke's answer
- 28:33Speaker 3: to that, yeah, like a cherry coke.
- 28:35Speaker 4: And I don't know what mister knockoff is here, all right,
- 28:41Speaker 4: I wouldn't call it that good product. Good product.
- 28:45Speaker 6: Finally, a North Florida sheriff's deputy called to a neighborhood
- 28:48Speaker 6: where a grandmother had gone missing. While walking the family dog.
- 28:52Speaker 6: She had tripped and fallen in the dark on the sidewalk. Fortunately,
- 28:56Speaker 6: the dog, named e Or, tracked down the Okalouosa County
- 29:00Speaker 6: deputy's cruiser and led her to its owner's mother.
- 29:03Speaker 1: He wouldn't believe him coming back to me.
- 29:07Speaker 4: He ran up to my car, and I said, bring
- 29:09Speaker 4: me to your mommy and her granddad cheer.
- 29:11Speaker 9: He come up to your car.
- 29:14Speaker 5: Yeah, he walked up to the car.
- 29:15Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 29:16Speaker 6: The woman's husband called nine to one one when she
- 29:18Speaker 6: didn't return home from the walk, and the uh Oklhoosa
- 29:21Speaker 6: County Sheriff's Office posted the bodycam video of the heroic
- 29:25Speaker 6: dog on Facebook. Turns out that's his eighty six year
- 29:27Speaker 6: old grandmother.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Oh my goodness.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Yeah, and she said he kept running back to check
- 29:32Speaker 6: on her and then go look for help.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Wow, it's crazy and then he found the.
- 29:35Speaker 6: Deputy ran up to her cruiser and literally the video
- 29:38Speaker 6: you can see she says, take me to your mommy,
- 29:40Speaker 6: and he turns around and haul's ass back to the
- 29:41Speaker 6: injured woman on the sidewalk.
- 29:43Speaker 7: The dog's name was E or E or Yeah, I
- 29:45Speaker 7: got you bother. Yeah, I think you got a big bother.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Man changed that dog's name hero or something exactly.
- 29:53Speaker 4: It doesn't seem very fitting the first time that name
- 29:57Speaker 4: has ever done anything productive. So she's eighty she's eighty six,
- 30:01Speaker 4: so basically just fell and could not get back up
- 30:02Speaker 4: exactly exactly.
- 30:03Speaker 6: She's in the dark, laying there, and the dog is
- 30:05Speaker 6: running around trying to find someone to help. When he
- 30:07Speaker 6: spotted the cruiser, ran up to the cruiser and I'll
- 30:12Speaker 6: be doing the deputy back to the woman.
- 30:13Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 30:14Speaker 5: And that concludes your JCS news.
- 30:21Speaker 4: I know he's been doing it. He's been doing it
- 30:22Speaker 4: to everybody. Well, I mean he made me chow. Yeah,
- 30:25Speaker 4: I know. Now you can't even do your base a
- 30:26Speaker 4: little because he's acting like a damn fool. Oh time out.

- 31:15Speaker 3: this show chose the most correct picks for the NFL weekend.
- 31:20Speaker 3: And of course we had to get big game last night.
- 31:23Speaker 3: What say you, friend, Well, here.
- 31:24Speaker 4: We go so far for the season.
- 31:27Speaker 10: This is week five we just completed, and there was
- 31:30Speaker 10: no hiding the fact. We talked about what a rough
- 31:33Speaker 10: week it was yesterday and you know, many upsets However,
- 31:39Speaker 10: the challenge is still the same for the listeners. They
- 31:41Speaker 10: have to pick one of us to see which one
- 31:44Speaker 10: of us did the best out of navigating this pothole
- 31:48Speaker 10: filled week of NFL picks.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Perfectly said the overall.
- 31:54Speaker 10: You know, I started the season out strong with a
- 31:58Speaker 10: couple of wins. Ross came in with one dab over
- 32:01Speaker 10: the top. She was so thrilled with her prognosticating skills
- 32:07Speaker 10: last week she took the day off, wasn't even here
- 32:09Speaker 10: to celebrate when she won. And now, folks, the only
- 32:13Speaker 10: constant we have is Jim being in the last place
- 32:16Speaker 10: every week so far this season.
- 32:18Speaker 4: I think Tuesday is his favorite day of the week.
- 32:20Speaker 4: And yeah, Tuesdays, Yeah, it's kind of fun. I'm even
- 32:24Speaker 4: blown away by how bad you are.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Okay, dude, you know what, I got a lot of
- 32:27Speaker 3: stuff going on in my life. I don't have time
- 32:29Speaker 3: to sit and worry about this stuff all the time.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Sure you did. I do have a lot of time
- 32:33Speaker 4: to worry about it.
- 32:34Speaker 10: Just remember past performance is not indicative of future results.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Maybe this is the week where Jim is on top.
- 32:41Speaker 4: I truthfully do not know the answer, though, because I
- 32:43Speaker 4: haven't checked it all. I don't know.
- 32:45Speaker 10: I have the information right here, and all we have
- 32:47Speaker 10: to do is have the listeners decide which one of
- 32:50Speaker 10: the four of us did best. They get a gift
- 32:52Speaker 10: card for twenty five dollars to Froggers Good at the Ovido,
- 32:56Speaker 10: Mount Dora, a Popka or Altamont Springs locations Frogger's near you.

- 33:06Speaker 10: big screens, the game's always on. It's a fun place
- 33:09Speaker 10: for me. And we really love the food.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we love this partnership. There are awesome people in
- 33:14Speaker 3: The food is exceptionally good. They take that bar food
- 33:17Speaker 3: and they ramp it right up. Great wings, perogis, even incredible.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Salads, their homemade. Their pizzas are on point. They do
- 33:25Speaker 4: a good job. Blue cheese dressing, Yeah, I eat that
- 33:27Speaker 4: stuff with a smoke. Oh yeah, what a game last night, Hunch,
- 33:30Speaker 4: you guys watch it. I just saw the last play
- 33:32Speaker 4: which just made my jaw drop. It was I thought
- 33:35Speaker 4: the last touchdown, the last touchdown, the whole game was great.
- 33:39Speaker 3: The whole game was just like that. You know, they
- 33:40Speaker 3: go up fourteen oh pretty quick, and you think oh
- 33:42Speaker 3: my god. You know, here comes the Kansas City Machine
- 33:45Speaker 3: and then man just gritty old Jacksonville just kind of
- 33:49Speaker 3: stuck their foot in the ground and like, nah, not
- 33:50Speaker 3: to night Dog. It was great, A lot of fun
- 33:53Speaker 3: to watch. Yeah, all right, deb one, two.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Three, or four. Feeling like number one number one?
- 33:59Speaker 11: Right?
- 34:00Speaker 4: That is Kim, Kim, how you doing today? Doing great?
- 34:05Speaker 3: You are now part of the Froggers football forecast. Kim,
- 34:07Speaker 3: which member of the show do you believe had the
- 34:10Speaker 3: best week this week in NFL picks?
- 34:15Speaker 4: You're gonna go with the Ross, So, Kim, I have
- 34:18Speaker 4: to tell you. Rosscott seven right this week out of
- 34:22Speaker 4: I don't know what was it, you know, fifteen games
- 34:24Speaker 4: or so, yeah, yeah, yeah so. And last week Jim
- 34:27Speaker 4: had seven and it was last place.
- 34:31Speaker 10: However, seven right this week was enough for first place,
- 34:36Speaker 10: and he tied dab And on tie on tie breaker.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Ross wins the week.
- 34:44Speaker 9: Winner.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Kim, first out.
- 34:45Speaker 3: That's a rarity. Hardly anybody chooses. Right right off the back, Kim,
- 34:49Speaker 3: You're a winner. Twenty five dollars gift card to Fruger's
- 34:51Speaker 3: Nola Mark coming your way. I was you gotta say
- 34:54Speaker 3: something for us, thank you?
- 34:57Speaker 4: No what sound does a froud make rip?
- 35:04Speaker 3: Jack will get you that card in just one second. Yeah, man,
- 35:07Speaker 3: you had a good week. It came down to points.
- 35:09Speaker 7: Well, and not only did it come down to points,
- 35:11Speaker 7: but I chose doall.
- 35:14Speaker 13: Do you know that?
- 35:15Speaker 3: I think everybody on this show picked Jacksonville. Nope, Oh
- 35:18Speaker 3: that's right, the guy who only got three right this week.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Three the worst in the history of the show doing
- 35:24Speaker 3: this bit. That's no one's ever done worse than that.
- 35:28Speaker 3: You are one right, No one has done worse. Three
- 35:32Speaker 3: right is if I picked the opposite, I would have
- 35:34Speaker 3: run away with it. However, three right and Jim is still.
- 35:41Speaker 4: The whole season. The first thing I looked at when Bradshaw,
- 35:44Speaker 4: when I looked and saw how bad he tank this week,
- 35:46Speaker 4: I was like, let's look at that overall baby, and
- 35:48Speaker 4: I was like, I had to pull ahead.
- 35:50Speaker 3: I had at least pull even. I'm still a game behind.
- 35:52Speaker 3: And that's how Essie, I've done the last couple of weeks.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Congrat's Rosco job. You know a minefield out there this week.
- 35:58Speaker 4: I just want to thank all the upset, specifically the
- 36:01Speaker 4: Buffalo Bills versus the Patriots.
- 36:04Speaker 7: I don't know what you were doing Bills losing that game.
- 36:07Speaker 7: But man, goodbye Barley. Right, It's fine man, if I
- 36:13Speaker 7: could didn't go to a different college yet.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Community yeah, community, Agol, Cordon Blue. Right, that's not where
- 36:21Speaker 4: you start, it's where you graduate. Don't worry about it.
- 36:23Speaker 4: I gotta tell you. You make full sale picks. Yeah,
- 36:28Speaker 4: come on, Buffalo, Yeah, man, what a week? Man? Philly loses,
- 36:33Speaker 4: Philly River pools see yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Philly loses,
- 36:38Speaker 4: Buffalo loses, Philly loses the Denver at home. Yeah, you know,
- 36:43Speaker 4: Kansas City loses last night. I don't know that that's
- 36:45Speaker 4: that big of a deal.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Baltimore gets blown out, like they're not even there, They're
- 36:49Speaker 3: one in four?
- 36:50Speaker 4: What happened the team? Can I tell you, I know
- 36:54Speaker 4: what a.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Third of the pundits believed at the beginning of the season,
- 36:57Speaker 3: you know, with that offense, like how can they how
- 36:59Speaker 3: can they lose? And buddy, let me tell you they
- 37:02Speaker 3: have found every possible way to do it and they
- 37:04Speaker 3: are in trouble.
- 37:05Speaker 4: A lot of injuries on that football team. Yeah, I'll
- 37:07Speaker 4: throw this out of here. Does his own sleep on
- 37:09Speaker 4: him still, I'm Ravens, Yeah, I'll sleep on them. No,
- 37:12Speaker 4: don't sleep I'll make a fire right next to him.
- 37:14Speaker 9: No.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Yeah, they're not good. They're not good. They can only
- 37:18Speaker 4: screw your football card so many times, like the Bill
- 37:21Speaker 4: zid yours. You know you're taking it personally, you know.
- 37:24Speaker 3: When we were talking to Brandon yesterday, Ross I was saying,
- 37:27Speaker 3: it's like weird the last three or four five years
- 37:28Speaker 3: in the NFL, it's always this way, right, teams will
- 37:32Speaker 3: look like the teams you think are gone to the
- 37:33Speaker 3: teams and like week five or six it just has
- 37:36Speaker 3: one of these. I mean, if you go back in
- 37:37Speaker 3: our standings in our little pool, you'll see this week
- 37:40Speaker 3: happen in week.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Three, four or five for the last like four or
- 37:42Speaker 4: five years.
- 37:43Speaker 7: Well, that's the fun part about sports. Yeah, if you
- 37:47Speaker 7: knew the results, right, I mean just.
- 37:49Speaker 3: The straight up picks with this back, I can't even
- 37:50Speaker 3: imagine what the spread picks were like. That must have
- 37:53Speaker 3: even been a bigger slaughterhouse, right.
- 37:55Speaker 7: A lot of people lost money this weekend, and like
- 37:58Speaker 7: four people don't have to work a day in their line,
- 38:01Speaker 7: you know, right, the best way I can sum up
- 38:05Speaker 7: the sports results.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Right, big thanks to our friends over at Froggers Growing

- 40:49Speaker 3: Forest Buddy, I.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Am back on my World War two content viewing tip.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I gotta tell you, buddy. You know it's funny.
- 40:58Speaker 3: I asked Jaden last week during the eight bit update,
- 41:01Speaker 3: because he's talking about this this battlefield game that's coming
- 41:05Speaker 3: out or something like that.
- 41:05Speaker 4: I forget what it's called.
- 41:07Speaker 3: And I asked him if they had a World War
- 41:09Speaker 3: II iteration of it, and of course he said, there
- 41:11Speaker 3: are a number of those out there. I said, the
- 41:12Speaker 3: reason I asked is I think Ross loves playing the
- 41:15Speaker 3: World War two games. I know you have a big
- 41:16Speaker 3: affinity for it.
- 41:17Speaker 7: Well, I mean to be honest with you, I'm not
- 41:18Speaker 7: the biggest fan of shooter games.
- 41:21Speaker 4: I'm way nerdier than that. I like a good crystal
- 41:24Speaker 4: and like a.
- 41:25Speaker 7: Boy on a framline task to save the world on
- 41:28Speaker 7: its sword. Yeah, yeah, all that stuff, the legendary sort
- 41:31Speaker 7: of Masamune and I. But I did play Call of
- 41:35Speaker 7: Duty World War two. It is insanely accurate. And what's
- 41:40Speaker 7: really cool is that if you pay enough attention, if
- 41:42Speaker 7: you read the little loading screens and the little things
- 41:44Speaker 7: that you can pick up.
- 41:45Speaker 4: It's also very educational.
- 41:47Speaker 7: Nice I chose why Germany failed on D Day featuring
- 41:53Speaker 7: Jonathan Ferguson. It is a I mean, there's so much
- 41:56Speaker 7: information on YouTube, there's so much World War II content,
- 42:00Speaker 7: but this video is the top one percent of World
- 42:03Speaker 7: War two YouTube videos that I have consumed. I thought
- 42:07Speaker 7: it was fascinating, and call me crazy here. I thought
- 42:11Speaker 7: there was a small element of comedy a little bit.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I didn't pick up on the comedy part
- 42:17Speaker 4: of it. Yeah, I got every year.
- 42:20Speaker 1: I know.
- 42:20Speaker 7: I gotta be careful about what I say here because
- 42:22Speaker 7: let me, twenty four hundred US men died on Omaha
- 42:25Speaker 7: Beach and you're chucking it up exactly talk to me
- 42:29Speaker 7: about Utah. I learned so much about Utah Beach from
- 42:33Speaker 7: this video. Some of it still Field with heroics, right,
- 42:38Speaker 7: and still Field with bravery. But there was also a
- 42:41Speaker 7: certain portion on the Utah Beach because I didn't know this,
- 42:45Speaker 7: there was a lot of paratroop and going down over
- 42:48Speaker 7: on the Utah Beach while Omaha, because of how much
- 42:51Speaker 7: movies and you know how many things that we've seen.
- 42:54Speaker 4: About the boats showing up on the beach.
- 42:56Speaker 7: Yeah, the landers, right, yeah, not too long, not a
- 42:59Speaker 7: little bit to the there's Utah Beach and there's a
- 43:02Speaker 7: lot of paratrooping going down.
- 43:04Speaker 4: And this is the only thing that I found a
- 43:05Speaker 4: little bit comedic is finding out.
- 43:07Speaker 7: That there were some paratroopers on that epic day that
- 43:12Speaker 7: kind of got lost and confused and spent the rest
- 43:15Speaker 7: of the day just trying to find the rest of
- 43:17Speaker 7: their friends exactly.
- 43:19Speaker 3: They found that one helmet of that one soldier that
- 43:21Speaker 3: it fell off, and they didn't really know what happened
- 43:23Speaker 3: to him. And they did later find out I think
- 43:25Speaker 3: he was killed in battle, but his helmet fell off
- 43:27Speaker 3: and was in that area. That's that's how they tracked
- 43:29Speaker 3: where some of those people went.
- 43:30Speaker 7: Yeah, and then and then I thought, the funniest thing
- 43:33Speaker 7: I know, that's weird to say, but at least one
- 43:36Speaker 7: of the most interesting things that I learned about Utah
- 43:38Speaker 7: Beach via this video is that while they came to
- 43:42Speaker 7: Grips with like I'm not gonna find my squad, what's
- 43:46Speaker 7: your name? My name's tom my name Steve want to
- 43:51Speaker 7: complete the mission together and then they just became best
- 43:54Speaker 7: of but like an eagle scout kind of thing. Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 7: and then they just didn't know each other and fought together.
- 44:01Speaker 4: Falling down Germans. I just thought it was I've never
- 44:04Speaker 4: heard that story or that element about this massive, infamous day,
- 44:09Speaker 4: and I didn't know about that, the French resistance being
- 44:11Speaker 4: part of it, like really not even uniformed soldiers are
- 44:14Speaker 4: out there like in street, closed shootings machine guns.
- 44:17Speaker 3: There's video of it of them like literally fighting German
- 44:20Speaker 3: soldiers in like jeans and a T shirt with an oozier,
- 44:24Speaker 3: you know, whatever the weapon of the choice was at
- 44:25Speaker 3: that time, and there was bunches of them out They're
- 44:27Speaker 3: just helping.
- 44:28Speaker 4: No no equipment, no gear, no nothing.
- 44:30Speaker 10: French resistance was huge, but France, because they as a country,
- 44:36Speaker 10: you know, surrendered, they get they get a lot of
- 44:39Speaker 10: you know, crap for that. You know, we had to
- 44:42Speaker 10: come save you, and no doubt that you know, us
- 44:44Speaker 10: and and all the Allied forces did you know, eventually
- 44:48Speaker 10: liberate France And it was like four days too. But
- 44:51Speaker 10: the French resistance was a huge force that was used
- 44:55Speaker 10: by Allied forces in the campaign.
- 44:57Speaker 6: Audrey Hepburn used to smuggle Allied messages in her ballets slippers.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Did she really yeah?
- 45:01Speaker 4: Did not know that.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Yeah, the French resistance had its fingers way down. And
- 45:05Speaker 6: see the culture and is this the first war?
- 45:07Speaker 3: I don't know if they did this during World War One,
- 45:09Speaker 3: but we did a lot of deception, like a lot
- 45:11Speaker 3: of faults landing, a lot of like you know, inflatable
- 45:15Speaker 3: tanks and stuff like this, where we were just throwing
- 45:16Speaker 3: people off, just throwing anything out on the on the board.
- 45:19Speaker 4: I'd never heard that in warfare before. Did that happen
- 45:21Speaker 4: also in w W one? World War One?
- 45:25Speaker 7: This is the dirtiest war. And everything that I learned
- 45:27Speaker 7: about World War One just mud. And they moved seventy yards. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:34Speaker 7: like a lot of young people died and it was
- 45:37Speaker 7: basically for very little over the smallest amount of land
- 45:41Speaker 7: that this massive battle just went back and forth forth.
- 45:44Speaker 7: But how about this, how about the when you were
- 45:47Speaker 7: talking about the helmet of a World War Two soldier
- 45:49Speaker 7: and the guy has the gloves And it's not just
- 45:52Speaker 7: one of those AI documentary videos where they just they
- 45:55Speaker 7: brought out really epic U I said, props, but epic
- 46:01Speaker 7: weapinary weaponry, weaponry artifacts from the war.
- 46:04Speaker 4: How about the MG forty two?
- 46:06Speaker 9: Crazy?
- 46:07Speaker 7: I mean, if you ask me what's the gun of
- 46:09Speaker 7: World War Two, it's like the visual image of World
- 46:12Speaker 7: War Two?
- 46:13Speaker 4: That's the one, yeah, yeah, the one here.
- 46:14Speaker 3: It is, the one with the fluted barrel, the one
- 46:16Speaker 3: at the end where it's like kind of you know,
- 46:18Speaker 3: like's like I forget the name of that. Oh god,
- 46:20Speaker 3: the old big shotgun that the Germans just carry around.
- 46:23Speaker 4: What's that thing called?
- 46:24Speaker 7: It's just I thought this video was educational and I
- 46:28Speaker 7: learned something. I thought it was really interesting learning that
- 46:31Speaker 7: much about UTAH. But MG forty two, which I think,
- 46:35Speaker 7: I think that just stands for a machine gun forty two.
- 46:38Speaker 7: I want to say that's what the MGEs think.
- 46:39Speaker 4: It could be how many rounds at shoots per second
- 46:41Speaker 4: or something. You never know what the or how long
- 46:42Speaker 4: it is? Caliber, yeah, yeah, caliber.
- 46:44Speaker 10: I wish I cared as much about history in high
- 46:47Speaker 10: school and and just school in general, as I do
- 46:50Speaker 10: now same here.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely loved it. Yeah, yeah, it was great.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it may have been a little different it had
- 46:56Speaker 3: been an all boys school, maybe a pay attention a
- 46:57Speaker 3: little bit more.
- 46:59Speaker 9: I thought.
- 47:00Speaker 4: The thing I actually learned from this, I knew about
- 47:02Speaker 4: the the.
- 47:04Speaker 10: The one hundred and first and the eighty second airborne
- 47:07Speaker 10: kind of you know, missing their targets due to the
- 47:10Speaker 10: weather situation. However, the German response where Rama wanted to
- 47:16Speaker 10: meet them on the beach and not let them get
- 47:19Speaker 10: a foothold, and the generals in charge of the Panzer divisions,
- 47:22Speaker 10: they're like, yeah, well we don't.
- 47:25Speaker 4: Agree with that. Let's let's split things up. And that
- 47:28Speaker 4: was that was a fatal flaw.
- 47:30Speaker 3: It was a fatal flaw because they divided that panzer
- 47:32Speaker 3: division up into different areas and they did not have
- 47:35Speaker 3: enough manpower or machinery to defend those points because they
- 47:38Speaker 3: had no idea how many of the Allies were coming.
- 47:40Speaker 4: And it was amazing allowed the Allies to actually establish,
- 47:44Speaker 4: you know, a foothold on the shore.
- 47:46Speaker 7: I've always looked at D Day as the growing up.
- 47:49Speaker 7: I always thought it was the turning point of the war,
- 47:52Speaker 7: but I would say more so it's closer to the
- 47:55Speaker 7: beginning of the end of Nazi Germany.
- 47:58Speaker 4: It really was.
- 47:59Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it was like, oh, yeah, you guys aren't
- 48:02Speaker 7: going to recover. Yeah, and you guys aren't going anywhere.
- 48:05Speaker 3: Once the landing was successful and they set up the ports,
- 48:08Speaker 3: what was the port never there? The one of the
- 48:09Speaker 3: point there, I cannot remember. It's in a long name
- 48:11Speaker 3: or whatever. But once they set that port up and
- 48:13Speaker 3: were able to basically create a safe area for you know,
- 48:17Speaker 3: the Allies start bringing in not only infantry, also machinery
- 48:20Speaker 3: and support, whether it be for the food, whatever the
- 48:22Speaker 3: case may be. You know, once that was established, it
- 48:25Speaker 3: was pretty much over for the Germans. It was done,
- 48:28Speaker 3: or for the evil Acxis I should say.
- 48:30Speaker 7: But yeah, there's never a bad time to talk about
- 48:33Speaker 7: World War Two. If there's one thing life has shown me,
- 48:36Speaker 7: it's exactly that last statement, is that the more you learn,
- 48:39Speaker 7: the more you can understand so much about our species,
- 48:43Speaker 7: because it's the it's the.
- 48:45Speaker 4: Worst and the best of times. Oh, when it comes
- 48:49Speaker 4: to being a human.
- 48:49Speaker 3: If if you were to ask me, I don't know
- 48:54Speaker 3: why I said deb there, Yeah, Jack, what did we
- 48:57Speaker 3: get from the list did have anything to say about
- 49:00Speaker 3: that video.
- 49:01Speaker 6: The most amazing thing to me was that someone should
- 49:03Speaker 6: have helped Hitler have a much better sleep schedule, because
- 49:07Speaker 6: when you're planning a D Day invasion and you're anticipating,
- 49:10Speaker 6: you know, three four sets of your allies sleeping until
- 49:13Speaker 6: the middle of the afternoon is probably not a really
- 49:16Speaker 6: good choice.
- 49:16Speaker 4: They were on an invasion, rebellion retreat, nore off and
- 49:21Speaker 4: he hadn't quite but you had a doctor to walk
- 49:25Speaker 4: around him and injected him like twenty four hours a day.
- 49:27Speaker 5: It's like he's Elvis. Before Elvis was Elvis.
- 49:29Speaker 4: Adall worn off and then he became eight off Spacoli.
- 49:32Speaker 6: Yeah, seriously, I mean, like to find out that these
- 49:36Speaker 6: plans are going on and German officials are visiting their
- 49:39Speaker 6: families in Germany, Adolf Hitler is sound asleep till the
- 49:42Speaker 6: middle of the afternoon. It's almost it's almost as if
- 49:45Speaker 6: they're Hubris. They believe that they had everything in the
- 49:49Speaker 6: bag and it was all tightened up and ready.
- 49:51Speaker 3: To go, and it was just well, he didn't he
- 49:53Speaker 3: basically ignore every single major general who told him that
- 49:57Speaker 3: they were losing the war.
- 49:58Speaker 4: He just basically ignored them and acted like it wasn't
- 50:00Speaker 4: even said.
- 50:01Speaker 10: But for D Day to be a surprise, for that
- 50:05Speaker 10: level of involvement, that that does not happen again, for
- 50:10Speaker 10: that many people to know of a plan and to
- 50:12Speaker 10: be able to make it a surprise, and for Eisenhower
- 50:15Speaker 10: to be able to tell the press, hey, don't print
- 50:18Speaker 10: anything until you know, after we go, and.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Everyone's like cool, Yeah. Nowadays, you know, someone's oh, I
- 50:23Speaker 4: got to be the first one to get it on
- 50:24Speaker 4: took talk.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Do you think Americans took what they were saying for
- 50:28Speaker 3: real at stake, like what they thought was like the
- 50:29Speaker 3: possibility of you know, global dominance from Germany and the Nazis.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Did you do you think of Americans just basically went, Okay,
- 50:36Speaker 3: he's serious this time. Don't say anything anybody, you know,
- 50:38Speaker 3: just like quiet down.
- 50:39Speaker 9: No.
- 50:39Speaker 4: That was because I don't know if that could happen today.
- 50:41Speaker 6: It wouldn't, But that was back in the day when
- 50:43Speaker 6: the press and the government had a kind of quiet understanding.
- 50:46Speaker 4: It's it's the same thing as you know.
- 50:48Speaker 6: Jackie O may have found several pairs of panties in
- 50:50Speaker 6: the White House bed that did not belong to her,
- 50:52Speaker 6: but the press wouldn't report on.
- 50:53Speaker 3: FDR, not reporting on FDR being in a whale chair
- 50:57Speaker 3: in a wheelolio right, exactly for sure.
- 50:59Speaker 4: It's called the Reason Germany failed on D Day.
- 51:02Speaker 3: It's available on YouTube if you go to Jimcolbert Live
- 51:04Speaker 3: dot com you can actually click right through.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Jack has it right there for you.
- 51:06Speaker 9: Jack.
- 51:07Speaker 4: What did the listeners choose for us this week?
- 51:08Speaker 10: Well, they sent a bunch of links and some were
- 51:12Speaker 10: too short, some were too long, but I found one
- 51:14Speaker 10: that was just right and I think you're going to
- 51:17Speaker 10: enjoy it.
- 51:18Speaker 4: It comes from.
- 51:19Speaker 10: Remy and it has to do with music, a specific
- 51:23Speaker 10: Tiny Desk NPR Tiny Desk concert for the Tower of Power.
- 51:28Speaker 10: Oh that's cool. Yeah, that's an old school like real
- 51:31Speaker 10: old school, right, yep. They had they had a good run.
- 51:35Speaker 10: And it's the their tiny their version of the Tiny
- 51:38Speaker 10: Desk com.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Oh, very cool. So we'll put that up.
- 51:39Speaker 3: You'll be able to get the link at Jim Culbert
- 51:41Speaker 3: Live dot com and click right through and check that out,
- 51:43Speaker 3: and of course we'll review that next week. Thanks Remy,
- 51:44Speaker 3: we appreciate that heads up. Let's take a little break
- 51:46Speaker 3: back in a second with more of the Jim Colbert Show.
- 51:58Speaker 15: Proudly sponsored since day one by Glenn Klausmanclosmanlow dot com.

- 52:26Speaker 9: Hey everybody, I'm sweety.
- 52:27Speaker 8: I didn't get to send a message yesterday, but I
- 52:30Speaker 8: wanted to thank everybody for another fantastic best of event.
- 52:35Speaker 4: All of the chilies were pretty good.
- 52:37Speaker 9: My favorite was actually the Bison chili.
- 52:40Speaker 8: So the killer time as usual, and I can't wait
- 52:43Speaker 8: to see what you come up with next year.
- 52:45Speaker 9: Okay, I love you, goodbye?
- 52:47Speaker 4: All right, Swilly, always get seeing you and the crew.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Sweet guy.
- 52:50Speaker 3: That's part of beat, that's part of Big Tease, prow
- 52:54Speaker 3: good people, super supportive.
- 52:55Speaker 4: We love them. They're great people.
- 52:56Speaker 8: All right.
- 52:56Speaker 4: For seven nine on your four o'clock keyword is grand
- 53:01Speaker 4: g R A N D.
- 53:02Speaker 3: Just get the Real Radio dot M and send that
- 53:04Speaker 3: away for your chance at one thousand dollars.
- 53:06Speaker 4: I'm jimin or Deb Hell, Jack, Yep, and Ross all
- 53:10Speaker 4: here for you today. It's true.
- 53:12Speaker 3: So the Trump administration has cut funding for PBS and
- 53:20Speaker 3: NPR three hundred and thirty PBS stations and two hundred
- 53:23Speaker 3: and forty six NPR stations by about one point one
- 53:26Speaker 3: billion dollars.
- 53:28Speaker 4: That's a lot.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Obviously, they they rely on those grants to keep the
- 53:33Speaker 3: lights on and keep that programming coming. There have been
- 53:37Speaker 3: a number of battles over PBS and NPR from this
- 53:41Speaker 3: particular institution of Republicans for quite a while.
- 53:45Speaker 7: There's a difference between calling something fake news and then
- 53:48Speaker 7: making something no news no news.
- 53:51Speaker 3: So they're trying to hang on and they're creating ways
- 53:54Speaker 3: to possibly fund part of this programming. As they kind
- 53:58Speaker 3: of move forward, they're gonna come up with creative ways.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Of course, if you've ever watched PBS, you've been through
- 54:03Speaker 3: one of those pledge drives. You know, you go to
- 54:05Speaker 3: tune into something and there's a you know, the director
- 54:08Speaker 3: of news and possibly the stations editor or manager sitting
- 54:12Speaker 3: there in a room that's lit and they're basically not begging,
- 54:15Speaker 3: but they're just basically pitching their case for this is
- 54:18Speaker 3: how we keep this kind of programming coming. It takes
- 54:20Speaker 3: money from you guys, you know, listener powered along with
- 54:23Speaker 3: the grants that we get from local state and federal
- 54:25Speaker 3: governments to keep the programming coming.
- 54:27Speaker 4: So if you could please give right, we've all seen that,
- 54:30Speaker 4: yes now for a long time, not for a while,
- 54:32Speaker 4: but you're right. We did just to say it a lot.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Now they've come up with a different way, PBS specifically,
- 54:36Speaker 3: to come up with a way to possibly fund some
- 54:38Speaker 3: of these programs for at least a little while.
- 54:40Speaker 4: You guys want to take a shot at how they're
- 54:41Speaker 4: going to do this. Go fund me not go fund me.
- 54:44Speaker 3: That is a great guess, though, I gotta tell you,
- 54:46Speaker 3: I think that would probably work if PBS were to
- 54:49Speaker 3: put up a gofund me.
- 54:50Speaker 4: I'm sure that it would probably work. I mean, you know,
- 54:53Speaker 4: I got it.
- 54:54Speaker 10: They'll start selling the things people bring on the antiques
- 54:57Speaker 10: road show and keep that money.
- 54:59Speaker 4: That is is such a good idea, Jack. It's not
- 55:02Speaker 4: selling that though. Oh props opera sets from like Sesame Street.
- 55:09Speaker 4: That's a great guess as well, but not the one
- 55:10Speaker 4: we're looking for. They're definitely going to sell something. All
- 55:13Speaker 4: of these probably from mister Rogers neighborhood.
- 55:17Speaker 7: All of these guesses are making me so sad. But
- 55:19Speaker 7: are they going to sell cookie?
- 55:21Speaker 4: Moster Central Florida Connection, Fred Rogers his house, Bob Ross
- 55:27Speaker 4: his sweaters, would you say, Bob Ross his paintings.
- 55:31Speaker 3: PBS is going to sell some of Bob Ross's paintings
- 55:35Speaker 3: to help fund their programming.
- 55:37Speaker 5: I'm with your Ross. That's sad. That's sad.
- 55:41Speaker 3: All great ideas very sad, it says Bottoms. I guess
- 55:44Speaker 3: is an auction house in LA They're going to auction
- 55:48Speaker 3: off three of his paintings on Noverber eleventh. Other auctions
- 55:51Speaker 3: will follow in London, New York, Boston and online. All
- 55:54Speaker 3: profits are pledged to stations that use content from distributor
- 55:58Speaker 3: American Public television, So I guess it would be the
- 56:01Speaker 3: you know, the programming that we get here that includes
- 56:04Speaker 3: the Best of Joy of Painting, America's Test Kitchen, Julia
- 56:08Speaker 3: Child's French Chef Classics, and This Old House. That's the
- 56:11Speaker 3: programming will be supported onto these stations via the sales
- 56:15Speaker 3: of these paintings. Now a couple of them have already sold.
- 56:18Speaker 3: They did pretty well, did you guys remember those numbers?
- 56:21Speaker 3: No no, in the early nineties. This is just the
- 56:23Speaker 3: early nineties. They sold two mountain and lake scenes painted
- 56:28Speaker 3: by Bob Ross, and in the early nineties one got
- 56:31Speaker 3: one hundred and fourteen thousand dollars not bad, and one
- 56:34Speaker 3: got ninety five thousand dollars.
- 56:36Speaker 4: What do you think the thirty paintings.
- 56:38Speaker 3: They're going to auction off they expect to get in
- 56:41Speaker 3: total money. They're going to auction thirty of his paintings
- 56:44Speaker 3: off to raise money for this, and they expected to
- 56:47Speaker 3: get between this and this, let's just go for the
- 56:49Speaker 3: high number. Where do you think the most they think
- 56:52Speaker 3: it's gonna get Jack five.
- 56:54Speaker 4: Million, seven million?
- 56:56Speaker 3: Nah, two hundred thousand, oh, two hundred thousand. You actually
- 57:01Speaker 3: have the best logic there. It's one point four million.
- 57:04Speaker 3: And I have to tell you, I thought that was
- 57:06Speaker 3: ridiculously low. And I'll tell you why, Like if if
- 57:09Speaker 3: you knew that. Like, let's face it, Bob Ross paintings
- 57:13Speaker 3: are like painting by numbers kind of paintings. They're not
- 57:15Speaker 3: like masterpieces. They're just kind of cool because Bob Ross
- 57:19Speaker 3: did it on TV and it made painting accessible to everybody,
- 57:22Speaker 3: because his techniques allowed even people with like moderate skill
- 57:26Speaker 3: to come up with something that was kind of cool.
- 57:28Speaker 7: Right man, this guy is sounding like a guy who's
- 57:30Speaker 7: never tried to Bob Ross paint You're right.
- 57:34Speaker 3: I never have, but I learned by watching, and I
- 57:36Speaker 3: think for a fact that's like if you gave me
- 57:37Speaker 3: that palette, and you gave me I think I.
- 57:39Speaker 7: Could get pretty close. You know why you could get close.
- 57:42Speaker 7: You have Bob Ross going put this pipe brush here.
- 57:46Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It's like painting for dummies kind
- 57:48Speaker 3: of thing. Right, So they're not masterpieces. You're really not
- 57:51Speaker 3: buying the piece for its paint integrity, Like you're not.
- 57:55Speaker 3: You're like, oh my god, these Bob brush, these Bob
- 57:57Speaker 3: Ross brushstrokes are taking me into a different world world, Right,
- 58:00Speaker 3: It's not like that. I mean, the paintings are kind
- 58:02Speaker 3: of cool, no question, But I think the value is
- 58:06Speaker 3: is kind of like when Ross bought that that piece
- 58:09Speaker 3: of art that you bought, Yeah, baby bye, like the
- 58:11Speaker 3: baby butt thing, right, you just wanted to be a
- 58:13Speaker 3: piece of something.
- 58:14Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 58:14Speaker 7: I love the story behind it, right. I love also
- 58:18Speaker 7: the feelings that it gives me, which is this weird
- 58:20Speaker 7: level of inspiration.
- 58:22Speaker 4: Right. I can go on about that, but I think
- 58:24Speaker 4: that's pretty much a snooze.
- 58:25Speaker 3: Yes, that's all right, but it really kind of fits
- 58:27Speaker 3: here because your idea is the same, Like I would
- 58:30Speaker 3: think these thirty paintings if they came up and you
- 58:32Speaker 3: are a person of means or maybe even somebody who
- 58:35Speaker 3: just had a heart for the programming of PBS, maybe
- 58:37Speaker 3: it changed your life, maybe it changed one of your kids' lives.
- 58:40Speaker 3: You never know how things like that work into people's
- 58:42Speaker 3: cultural outlook, that somebody may actually pay more for the
- 58:46Speaker 3: paintings simply because of what it's going to do rather
- 58:48Speaker 3: than what it actually is. Yeah, that's what I think.
- 58:51Speaker 4: That's all of art. That's I mean, all of this
- 58:54Speaker 4: is subjective. Someone doesn't even know who Bob Ross is.
- 58:57Speaker 3: Yeah, but for the most part, you not only do
- 58:59Speaker 3: you buy painting for how it moves you, but you
- 59:01Speaker 3: also want to have a little value, and it possibly,
- 59:03Speaker 3: you know, from an artist that's up and coming and
- 59:05Speaker 3: maybe has an opportunity to increase in value.
- 59:08Speaker 4: I mean, you have to at least consider a little
- 59:09Speaker 4: of that. And then what my question to you, my
- 59:12Speaker 4: new friend in art, is where does that value come from?
- 59:16Speaker 3: The rarity and the quality, I would think, and possibly
- 59:19Speaker 3: if the artist does something unique or gets noticed or
- 59:22Speaker 3: recognized by a group of people of having a certain
- 59:25Speaker 3: type of talent like Bosquiot.
- 59:27Speaker 4: You know, it wasn't like your normal art, but it
- 59:29Speaker 4: was really unique.
- 59:30Speaker 3: Also, you could say Keith Herring, another street artist from
- 59:33Speaker 3: New York that was the same kind of things, very
- 59:36Speaker 3: rudimentary art, but what it stood for was more than
- 59:38Speaker 3: what it was.
- 59:39Speaker 4: Who have the most famous artists?
- 59:40Speaker 7: I really appreciate the attempt to What I'm trying to
- 59:43Speaker 7: get at is that where does the value come from
- 59:45Speaker 7: from art?
- 59:47Speaker 4: Is is from other It's the audience is us.
- 59:52Speaker 7: So like what you may look at and go this
- 59:54Speaker 7: is absolute trash, is what someone may look at and
- 59:57Speaker 7: go this is the best thing that I've ever seen
- 59:58Speaker 7: at Jackson Pollocks. Yeah, so the value is such a
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: volatile scale. I mean, like when it comes to putting.
- 1:00:06Speaker 7: I mean Dad would know more about this than any
- 1:00:09Speaker 7: of us. She went to school for art, and just
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: knowing that, like the price tag behind art, is one
- 1:00:16Speaker 7: of the fun parts about art.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: Well, what makes Bob Ross's paintings always difficult to sell
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: was how prolific he was. He did so many he did,
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: I mean there was three paintings for everyone, So that
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: takes away the rarity.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: I think the other aspect though, is that he's one
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: of the more popular PBS.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: Personalities of all decades.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: Yeah, so I think, you know, maybe before it was
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: about buying a Bob Ross painting. Now it's a Bob
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: Ross painting that he painted while he was on PBS,
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: and this is going to help keep you. You know,
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: there's layers now to the value versus it just being
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: because it's a Bob Ross painting. You've added all those
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: other layers now and it adds to the value of it.
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: Even though he was such a prolific painting.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: Yeah, is it basically become a conversation piece because again,
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: what it's what you did. You threw in, you know,
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: seventy eighty grand or whatever the case may be to
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: buy one of these paintings. You're never gonna get that
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: money back. It's not worth that much money, but what
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: it represents for you and what you did to that
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: particular cause does have value.
- 1:01:12Speaker 10: There is some like when it comes to the legacy
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: of Bob Ross, there is some negativity because of that
- 1:01:20Speaker 10: legal battle that he had with the married couple that
- 1:01:25Speaker 10: actually owned the rights to Bob Ross Incorporated. So anything
- 1:01:29Speaker 10: so like that is you buy you know, Bob Ross
- 1:01:33Speaker 10: Ross paint set, they actually get that money and they
- 1:01:36Speaker 10: were accused I don't think.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Like in the documentary he kind of.
- 1:01:39Speaker 10: Talks about this, they were suspected of having people copy
- 1:01:44Speaker 10: Bob Ross pictures and they were selling those as Bob
- 1:01:47Speaker 10: Ross at least with the stuff from PBS. You know
- 1:01:51Speaker 10: that they got one of every painting. Right, what they
- 1:01:54Speaker 10: are selling is legit Bob Ross.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: And it really is almost the way that Rolex watches
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: or maybe Apple or even the diamond industry. Really it's
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: not that he made a bunch of them, because for
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: the longest time, they wouldn't sell them. Remember, like they
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: they had bunches of them, but they wouldn't sell them.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: And that's kind of the that's kind of one of
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: the thought processes of how they keep diamonds expensive. Like
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: there's a an immediately in a massive cash of diamonds,
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: but when you only allow so many of them to
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: hit the market at a time, you can actually control
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: the price. Same thing with Rolex watches, you know, it's
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: not that they have a manufacturing issue. They they you know,
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: they can't make enough to keep up with the demand,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: but to keep the price high, they can only release
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: so many at a time. So it's still a rarity
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: in some set, in some senses. But I agree though
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: you're right in every I mean he's to me, I
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: mean not quite Fred Rogers level, but damn not far.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: I mean the Fred Rogers in the art world. Yeah,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: I would say for that, for that environment, I would say,
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: for sure, you don't have won.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: How badass would it be? Though?
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: If you bought one? You have people over and they're like, man,
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: that looks like a Bob Ross, and you go, go
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: it is it is?
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I bought one. I wondered what.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: I don't know, Man, I couldn't spend seventy five thousand
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: dollars on a Bob Ross painting, No way, like, not
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: in a million years.
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: What about a Thomas.
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: The painter of light Staphne? What Olivia Staphney? I know
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: she's like a local artist. When I have an opportunity
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: to say anything about a local artist, I will. I
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: don't know if I'm saying her last name right. I've
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: never met her or anything.
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: I like her work. I've only met one local artist.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I used to play golf with him years ago, and
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: he's kind of a He's an out there artist. I've
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: talked about him a little bit before. Dolly, uh no,
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: stop his name is Robin van ars doll And. I
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: don't even know if he lives in Orlando anymore, but
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: he was. If you ever drove down Orange Avenue years
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: ago and you saw these crazy looking fish or cars
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: that were painted on the side of that building that
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: was like running along the railroad tracks, it looked like
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: kind of like a kid would have painted it. That
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: was all Robin van ars doll And. Uh, he was
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: a guy, a local kind of. I don't know how
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: you explain a guy like that, because if you met him,
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: you would ever think he's an artist. Matter of fact,
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: when he said he was an artist, I thought he
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: meant like graphic artist. But no, he was like an
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: artist artist with a collection and and uh, you know
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: in museums and yeah, I just met him here in Orlando,
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: went to his layer one time, and he lived. He
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: had the artist life.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: He lived in the top. I'd say, that's the most
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: artist thing you said about him.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: He had a layer, Yeah he did.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: He lived in an You know those warehouses that used
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: to border Orange Avenue, back when that train was actually
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: a train that would pick up and deliver goods off
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: of Orange Avenue. There were all those warehouses. He actually
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: lived in the loft of one of those warehouses. No
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: ac or anything. You just walk upstairs. It was just
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: open air, no doors, no nothing. He just lived up
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: there like that.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: Oh I love those And it was crazy.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: I remember going up there. I'm like, I'm like, everybody
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: called him RV. I'm like, RV, what are you doing? Like, yeah,
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: he goes, man, this is where I live, and he
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: like where he would eat dinner, like eighteen feet from
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: that he would be welding like a sculpture of some sort.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: Like it was just like all kind of included. It
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: was a true artist layer.
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: It's just so cool. I I have seen just a
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: canvas or any sort of contempt.
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: I don't know, man, it's just whenever creativity comes with
- 1:05:07Speaker 7: not an advertisement, Yeah, you shouldn't take it for granted.
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: In twenty twenty five, agreed, if it's not that, don't
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: overthink it. Whenever you see something that doesn't, you know,
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: have an ulterior motive other.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: Than just like, hey, look at me, it's kind of cool. Yeah,
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: maybe it's not up to you. Yeah, maybe that's pretty pure.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, four O seven yeah four seven nine
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: one six one four one text seven to seven zero
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: three one grand is your FOURK like he worre that's
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: gr A n D. Just get over to Real Radio
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: out of him and send that away for your chance
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: at one thousand dollars. Mark Sanchez made a really bad decision.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: He's gonna wind up paying for that dearly. And another
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: guy in Florida makes another terrible decision. This guy goes
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: from having an okay day out enjoying himself to possibly
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: losing it all.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: And I'll tell you exactly what happened next.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Because listening is not enough.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: The Jim Colbert Show on YouTube, Real Radio, dot FM,
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: slash Watch.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Hey guys, hope you guys are doing well. You guys
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: are talking about local Orlando artists. Check out my boy,
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: the unsigned artist Jaybond. His work is excellent.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: You love it?
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: Thanks bye?
- 1:06:17Speaker 14: Can you guys make it How funny would be to
- 1:06:19Speaker 14: see Jimmy try to do Bob Ross painting while watching it.
- 1:06:23Speaker 14: That'd be a pretty nice live event if you think
- 1:06:26Speaker 14: of it, where you can drink and everybody's watching Bob
- 1:06:29Speaker 14: Ross and everybody sees how close they can get, and
- 1:06:31Speaker 14: then seeing Jim and Jimmy visibly lose his mind over
- 1:06:35Speaker 14: not being able to copy anything that Bob Ross did.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: I'd watch that. You gotta have got a bad event idea.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: I will tell you, sir, sir, I've done the wine
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: drinking thing where you paint with your wife, and I will.
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: Tell you I killed it. What the painting even when
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: you're with your wife literally they literally hold your hand
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: into it and you just slam nine dollars wine all
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: day long.
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: Kind of funny that, like, there's three things happening, and
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: painting is the third thing on the list of the
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: reasons why you're there.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: It's an alcohol wife, right, exactly right in that order.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: Have you ever done one of those? You've done one, right,
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: I have not. You haven't really, not from a store,
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: but at a friend's house. Yeah.
- 1:07:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: You go in there, you get you get two canvases,
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: You pay like thirty five or forty dollars. You sit
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: there and they walk you through how to paint. I
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: did something from Nightmare before Christmas?
- 1:07:38Speaker 9: Was it?
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Jack Skellington and oh yeah, and who was his girlfriend?
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: We did a painting of them like dancing in the moonlight?
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Oh that still still have it? Actually, by way, Sally,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: that's it for sure?
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, pretty good? All right, welcome back. My name
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: is Jim.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: There's deb hell, No Jack is here yea along with
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Ross Grand is your four o'clock keywhere you get about
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: to I don't know, ten minutes or so to get
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: over to real radio FM and sen that away for
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: your chance in a thousand bucks so New Smurna beach.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: And this is just how quickly things can get out of.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: Control and how quickly your life can change based on
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: your terrible decisions and your inability to control your anger.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: So this is you saw the new Sumirerny beach story.
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: I'm not sure if this is the I haven't read anything.
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: I just saw ahead Loin spell it out. You tell
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: me what you guys think this guy did to get
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: himself in trouble.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: Man was arrested on Saturday because he was in his
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: boat a New Smirna beach right. The incident occurred on
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: the Inner Coastal Waterway. Christopher Evanson was identified as a suspect.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: According to several victims, the man was operating in the
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: boat and he became irate. He'd become frustrated because beside
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: him there were children playing in the water and the
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: wake of them playing like splashing around was rocking his
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: boat back and forth.
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: What do you think he did?
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: Well, hopefully it's move his boat.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: He did not just move his boat. He did something
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: else to try to get him to stop. Throw like
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: old food in the water to attract the sharks.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: That's not it.
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: What do you think?
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: What do you think ross harpooned, harpooned, No shot in harpoon.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: No, he just took a gun out and pointed it
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: right at the group of kids children, then made verbal
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: threats that he would shoot them.
- 1:09:21Speaker 11: Ah.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: You know, his day fishing could have been so much
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: more relaxed.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: He was later seen pulling the boat behind his vehicle,
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: a white Nissan Frontier. He was pulled over and of
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: course arrested, charged with five counts of aggravated assault with
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: a deadly weapon an improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon.
- 1:09:38Speaker 10: He was transported to Lucia County Jail. This is why
- 1:09:41Speaker 10: more people need to have guns. If those kids were armed,
- 1:09:46Speaker 10: then this would not be a problem.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: So this guy just had a bunch of kids playing
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: next to his boat and rather than doing the logical
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: thing like deb said, just back your boat out if
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: you don't like to get they have just as much
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: right to be there as you do, and move to
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: an area where you can have the kind of time
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: you to have, maybe peaceful, Maybe sit back, read a book.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: This guy seems like a reader to me.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: Damn and uh, you know, just side on down the
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: beach and maybe he set up camp somewhere else.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: He was going to change the outcome of the afternoon
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: and pull a GD handgun on a group of children playing,
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: and now more than likely going to lose his job,
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: going to lose a lot of things, going to spend
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: time in jail.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: Is probably gonna do a couple of years for this,
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: maybe more. Ellen won't be able to vote, be a felon.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: He's donezo.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: This guy's entire life changed because he couldn't take kids
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: playing next to his boat, and he thought the proper answer,
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: rather than just going, hey, guys, is there any way
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: you could play a little bit farther away?
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: Blah blah blah blah, none of.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: That, immediately to the handgun and then drew it on
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: a group of kids. Can you imagine being one of
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: those kids?
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: Parents? Oh, he's lucky to be alive where they full
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: carry state.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: You know, Look, Jack says it all the time about
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: how many people he is lucky he didn't get shot
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: and killed right there on the spot.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: Absolutely should be thanking God in the cell he's sitting
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: in right now that he didn't get filled up that
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: afternoon standing in his boat pointing a handgun at children.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: I mean, you said it's a you said a full
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: carry state. What was the term that you just used.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's a full carry state. You
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: can carry gun pretty much anywhere you want, except for
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: the places posted right.
- 1:11:26Speaker 10: Yeah, anywhere there's an elected official, yeah, right, or their kids.
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: I mean, call me crazy here?
- 1:11:36Speaker 7: Am I insane to think that the whole kind of
- 1:11:41Speaker 7: full carry state aspect and this story are connected?
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: Look, man, con by the way, can I ask a
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: quick question? I mean, I know that I guess it
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: doesn't matter. I mean, you can carry it on your boat.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: I thought there was a different rule because there are
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: different BUI rules, right.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: I thought there were.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Different rules for carrying a firearm on a vessel than
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: there were for a car.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: That I do not know.
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: But we have the smartest audience in tom Radio. They'll
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: text us at seven seven zero three one.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: But I know that if you carry right, and you
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: get pulled over, one of the first things you're supposed
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: to do is let the officer know that you you
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: have a weapon and where it is. You know, that's
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: that's apparently the thing you're supposed to do is like,
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: while your hands are on the steering wheel whatever.
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: I've always heard you stick your hands out of the window,
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: both hands, and that signals that you have a weapon
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: in the car.
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: Oh no, I just I've never heard that one.
- 1:12:32Speaker 9: No.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: I did that when I first moved to Orlando, because
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I was just told that if you are a skater
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: or young or anything like that and you get pulled
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: over by Orlando police, just stick your hands out the
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: window so they know, don't you know, just basically, let's
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: just stop that thing before it gets going. Yep, here
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: they are, Yeah, here they are. I'm not hiding anything,
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: I'm not drawing down on you. I'm not reaching for anything. Dog,
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: this is these are my hands right here.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: I've never heard of that rule. I've never heard the
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: unwritten rule of sticking them out. Well, so they keep
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: them in, yeah man, and yeah, I what they learned
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: is you want to show the officer that you're white
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: and not to shoot yeah, pull your sleeves up, stick
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: them out. But I didn't know that because I know.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: Truckers have different rules, like even if you're in a
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: state where you are there full carry, like a state
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: like Florida or maybe anywhere in the southeast, that even
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: as a commercial trucker, I do not believe that you
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: can carry a weapon with you in your truck to
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: protect yourself.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: I don't believe you can do that.
- 1:13:26Speaker 10: Because that's also crossing state lines. Yeah as well, so
- 1:13:30Speaker 10: you have different but you can truck just in state.
- 1:13:34Speaker 10: I mean you don't have to.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: By the way, everybody that drives the truck doesn't necessarily
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: drive across country. You can easily just drive a route
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: right here in the state of Florida delivering goods and
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: services and never leave the state. I believe we have
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: a trucker who definitely carries well, I mean they may carry.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: I don't think you're supposed to it. Maybe the company
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: that you work with. But I know that when my
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: dad worked for Southland, he had a little twenty five
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: automatic they used to carry behind his wallet so you
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: could never see it. And I remember when one day
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: when he was going to load up and he didn't
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: bring his gun and I said, hey, you forgot your piece,
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: and he said, now I can't do it anymore, or
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: something like that. You know that they changed the rule
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: and those years ago, but I didn't think that if
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: you were a commercial like Uber drivers can't carry one
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: and they well they can carry a night I'll know
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: that's just.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: To play devil's advocate here.
- 1:14:22Speaker 7: Right, So this guy pointed the gun towards the kids. Yeah, yeah, right,
- 1:14:26Speaker 7: So what would happen if he was like, you know,
- 1:14:29Speaker 7: imagine like a personal detective who opens up like the
- 1:14:32Speaker 7: vest and then you see it in its holster and
- 1:14:35Speaker 7: he flashes that to the kids.
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I still think that's brandishing a firearm and you're not.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: I mean, he's not in threat. You know you're not
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: being threatened.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I mean that the stand your ground thing, which is
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: what you're saying, I believe, means if you had a
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: threat and you felt that your life was in danger,
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: that you could pull your weapon and defend yourself.
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: Oh I did was just step into the car. And
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: if they see what they see, I'm allowed to have this.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know. I don't I don't think you're
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: supposed to even show it like that.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: I don't think you're supposed to display a weapon for
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: the case of or for the sole purpose of doing
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: things like that unless your life is in danger or
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: you believe it is, and then you'll still have to
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: prove that.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: By the way, that's unnecessarily a given.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: Just because you say that you're gonna have to prove
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: that your life was in danger to be able to
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: draw or show that weapon or brandish it.
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: I guess, well, I just kept it inside. I just
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: kept it.
- 1:15:19Speaker 7: It was underneath my shirt. That's still I mean, it's
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: it's in its holster. I never took it out.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: It doesn't matter. That's still brandishing, right showing it? So well,
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: then tell me what is full carry? Full carry is
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: you carrying it pretty much on you at all times.
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: And then I'm not allowed to do that. Well, you're
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: not allowed to do it like that. I don't believe, buddy.
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: Like, if you get to do an argument in the
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: line at Starbucks because somebody skipped or whatever, you can't
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: show them your piece and say, you know, moving to
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: the back of the line.
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: But I think my point is coming across that. I
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: I mean, it's safe to say you can judge my
- 1:15:49Speaker 7: book cover. Not the biggest fan of dunks, I got it,
- 1:15:52Speaker 7: you know, and the whole like, all right, so if
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: everyone can just have one on them, and then now
- 1:15:57Speaker 7: this is the card because the same message can get
- 1:16:00Speaker 7: sent by this little hypothetical that I'm throwing out. If
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: I it was up against me, I had it in
- 1:16:04Speaker 7: the La Seria and I just moved my shirt real quick.
- 1:16:07Speaker 7: If they see it, that's on them. I wasn't threatening them.
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean I get.
- 1:16:11Speaker 7: That possibility dwindles a lot when you don't have a
- 1:16:16Speaker 7: lot of people with guns.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I understand what you're saying. I still believe that
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: you have to prove or you're saying that it was
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: a complete action. I still think you'd have to prove that.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: I still think you would have to prove to a
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: judge that it accidentally flopped out because it was it
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: was It would seem like coincidence to be in a
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: situation to show your gun to quell a situation and
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: then deny that that's what you did.
- 1:16:40Speaker 7: And like to wrap it up as simple as like
- 1:16:43Speaker 7: why isn't the first thing you walking up.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: To them and going all right, guys, move it along.
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: I would argue that that's this guy's definition and he
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: can only use this definition while having a gun.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Interesting. Interesting, I'm not throwing up that, so who knows?
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: I mean, it could happen, all right for our seven
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: nine one six four one text do seven seven zero
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: three one sec. We'll break, We'll come back and talk
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: some more cool stuff. We do have another keyword coming
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: up for you right now.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: Did Jim Colbert show on YouTube? Same pretty faces? We
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: need to address real radio dot FM, slash watch.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Hey Hannah.
- 1:17:24Speaker 12: According to UH law in the state of Florida, a
- 1:17:27Speaker 12: vessel is not the same as a vehicle as far
- 1:17:29Speaker 12: as having a firearm securely in case not readily accessible.
- 1:17:33Speaker 12: But we don't know how this has changed. With the
- 1:17:36Speaker 12: open carry law, you may be able to have an
- 1:17:39Speaker 12: in plain view when it comes to law enforcement. If
- 1:17:42Speaker 12: you're asked about weapons, you should definitely disclose having one.
- 1:17:46Speaker 12: If I was pulled over, I would not disclose I
- 1:17:49Speaker 12: have a firearm to an officer unless.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Ask You'd have to know.
- 1:17:54Speaker 9: Colbaldrul there's my question.
- 1:17:57Speaker 16: If the state is not open carried, why do I
- 1:18:00Speaker 16: have to approve.
- 1:18:03Speaker 9: It?
- 1:18:03Speaker 16: Was I was in brandishing my guns. No longer it
- 1:18:07Speaker 16: can see a carry. I can be walking over to
- 1:18:10Speaker 16: my gun on my uh in my host, on my
- 1:18:13Speaker 16: on my waist, on my hid. Why do I have
- 1:18:16Speaker 16: to approve that I wasn't brandishing. I was open carried
- 1:18:21Speaker 16: on my waist and it's home.
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: She's related to Welcome back to the Jim Colward Show,
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: Real Radio one er four point one year, five o'clock.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: Hey were his credit cr E D I T just
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: get over to you Real Radio dot FM to send
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: that away for your chance at one thousand dollars credit
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: is your five o'clock keyword?
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: Good luck? We hope you win for sure. I'm Jim.
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: There's deb Hello, Jack and Ross. It's true. Got a
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: lot of texts about this last segment, man, it was.
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: I mean a lot of text that last talk back.
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: Exactly what I was talking about is that like it
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: gets real slippery and real subjective and an infinite amount
- 1:18:56Speaker 7: of gray area when you have both of those things happen.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: That is a really good point.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: But I would think that if you're carrying it on
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: Let's say I have mine on me right now, on
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: my side, right like you would see anybody carry their
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: any officer carry their weapon, it would be right here, right,
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: I would have no overcoat, no, nothing that's out there
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: for sure.
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: I think if you were to wear it under.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: A coat, I mean, that is concealed, and I would
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: think that you do you think it changes if I
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: only conceal it for the sole purpose of showing you
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: for intimidation.
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: Yeah? Do you understand? Like if I'm walking down the
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: hallway and you see it on my waist.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: You know I have it, there's no I mean, but
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: if I'm walking down the hallway and it's under a
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: you know, a sport coat, and then something happens and
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: I pull that port go back to show the weapon,
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: that's kind of brandishing the weapon to show you I'm
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: willing to use this if need be.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: Is that different at all?
- 1:19:46Speaker 7: Well, and then how do you prove that, like, oh no,
- 1:19:50Speaker 7: he just decided to do a jumping jack, right, yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 7: right right?
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: You know, like it opens up a massive cannon worms
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: I would think you think that makes any difference?
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: You think about how that like the sport code analogy,
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: If you're walking around and you have it and it's open,
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: everybody can see it.
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: That guy has a gun on the side.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: But if I have a sport code on and something
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: happens and I pull my coat back to show you
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: I have a gun, as if to say you might
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: want to rethink what you're about to do.
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: That that's different, is it not. Yeah, so.
- 1:20:20Speaker 10: Obviously you're intending to reveal that you have a weapon,
- 1:20:24Speaker 10: right right. However, you can also just say I was
- 1:20:28Speaker 10: taking off my jacket.
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: It's legal. If it's legal to open.
- 1:20:32Speaker 10: Carry, then showing it is not a problem. I think
- 1:20:35Speaker 10: it's there has to be a threat implied on top
- 1:20:39Speaker 10: of that. Now, like when this person pulls out a
- 1:20:42Speaker 10: gun and points it at somebody, that's a threat. That's
- 1:20:44Speaker 10: implied threat. Sure, thing as you're aiming it at somebody,
- 1:20:47Speaker 10: just showing it to somebody, I'm not even sure. How
- 1:20:50Speaker 10: would in the hand if you have it out in
- 1:20:52Speaker 10: your hand pointing down. What if I'm in traffic? What
- 1:20:57Speaker 10: if we're in traffic?
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: You and I get a little bit of an altar
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: ocasion and traffic you think I'm tailgatting and or whatever.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: And we pull up to the light. You're on one side,
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: I'm on the other side. You roll your window down.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: I roll my window down. You're like you start getting
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: at me a little bit, like hey man, you gotta
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: watch what you're doing. Blah blah blah blah, and I
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: just hold my gun up. Yeah, I I want to say,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: isn't that is that I didn't he.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: Got I didn't point it at you. I just showed
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: you that I had one.
- 1:21:21Speaker 10: Brandishing a firearm was illegal. I don't know in open
- 1:21:26Speaker 10: carry time now for in now if that is still illegal.
- 1:21:30Speaker 10: I know someone who got in trouble for just showing
- 1:21:34Speaker 10: the fact that they had a gun, right right right
- 1:21:36Speaker 10: in a situation like that.
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: Hmmm, just leave it at home? Interesting, all right, and
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: shoot people if you leave it at home, Deb, but
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: you gn't threatened to kids. Deb.
- 1:21:46Speaker 7: Come on, not an open carry? If I leave it
- 1:21:48Speaker 7: at home, get a pre DEB doesn't stay at home
- 1:21:51Speaker 7: and not carry?
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: So I did want to talk about this story a
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: little bit because I do find it very interesting. And
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Ormond Beach father was banned from a youth football game
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: for confronting a coach.
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: All right, now he can have a guy.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: He's not brandish any weapon at this coach or the child.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Now that not only is has the has this father
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: been banned from the football games of a son, but
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: the coach has also been banned as well.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Oh he fought back.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: Well, this is what makes the story kind of interesting.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: So what do you guys think happened? What could get
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: you banned from a child's football game? Kids eight years old?
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: You cunching the guy in the face, I.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: Would say, cursing, anything like that, right, just being a
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: complete douchebag at one of these games to get you banned, right, Yeah?
- 1:22:38Speaker 7: Yeah, you made fun of like one of the other kids.
- 1:22:40Speaker 7: You called another kid fatty or something. Can I tell
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: you it wasn't even close to that.
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: There was nothing, nothing really said before or for the
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: issue that caused it, right, deb I mean that's that's
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: not what happened.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Yeah, No, that's not what happened.
- 1:22:53Speaker 7: You're gonna play David over my kid. David's just over
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: there in the corner ripping googurt. Yeah, there's nothing to
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: do with David's Gogert didn't take. Is zero to do
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: with David's gogert didn't take.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Although I do agree and he's layoff, he's getting it.
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: You get at it a little sugar moment on the lips.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: Yeah, here's what happened, right, So what the start of
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: is this youth football game? Orm beach turned into a
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: controversy because during the national anthem, this kid removed his
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: helmet at the behest of his father. His father said,
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: take your helmet off. They're playing the national anthem. The
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: rules of the league say, how's this go deb Like,
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: if you're on the field, your helmet has to be
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: on because of a safety issue.
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: Because it's safety gear, right, Your heads and your helmet
- 1:23:38Speaker 6: are what protect you when you're out on the field,
- 1:23:40Speaker 6: So they're not allowed to remove any of that safety
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: gear until they they're safely on the sidelines. Apparently this
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: kid was removing his helmet while he was on the
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: way to the sidelines, and the coach told him to
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: put it back on.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: Right, And the father is the one who told him
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: to take it off to show respect for the country,
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: because he wanted it. Because when the national anthem is said,
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: you do a sporting man, a lot of guys will
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: take their hat off.
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: I'll put it over their heart or whatever the case
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: may be.
- 1:24:02Speaker 6: Or like the case of you make everyone stand up
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: at your Super Bowl party.
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: Yeah, sometimes it includes house parties. That's a hashtag.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: Jim the koach reportedly told Ryan to put his helmet
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: back on. Sparking a confrontation between the coach and this
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: kid's dad. Police recalled, so it must have gotten heated,
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: and Costin was cited for trespassing, though the case was
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: later dismissed. Pop Warner has since banned him from attending
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: games all the way through.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: Next year while they investigate.
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: That's right, And the coach also got suspended as well.
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: Why because I guess while they investigate.
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, he engaged with this with the father and got
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: into an argument and caused this scene. And apparently, according
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: to Pop Warner league rules, both of those parties have
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: to get and he's under the same exact band, so
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: he will not be able to coach that team until
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: this is investigated and Pop Warner allows.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: Him to come back.
- 1:24:55Speaker 7: Ah man, that is not I mean, it's easy for
- 1:24:58Speaker 7: me to say. I mean, it's I'm pretty sure you
- 1:25:00Speaker 7: already know my.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Opinion about that. Yeah, I mean again, it's a rule
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: to protect the kids. I kind of understand where the
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: dad's coming here. That's coming from. That's something I would do,
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: you know if I saw my son on the on
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: the sidelines and he had his helmet on and on
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: the sidelines. Yeah, I understand that's what I'm talking about.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: But then the coach has put it on, that's when
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: you back off.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: I think that's what I say. You know, that's that's
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: a league thing. So well, you know, that's just how
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: it's you as.
- 1:25:28Speaker 10: A football player. You're teaching your kid to respect the coach. Sure, yeah,
- 1:25:32Speaker 10: and the coach overrules you by saying put your helmet on.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: Yeah, the coach is the coach. That should have been
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: the end of it. Yeah, one hundred percent. That's exactly what. Yeah,
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: exactly the case.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: And by the way, this happens in the NFL as
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: well in college, Like if your helmet comes off or
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: you take your helmet off, they'll they'll find you, they'll
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: they'll sit you. I mean that's a rule violation. Said uh,
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: the dad said, are the exchange upset him, claiming it
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: had happened before. It's heartbreaking than an eight year old
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: kid doing right, what's for a what's right for America
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: gets treated like this. That's what the data is saying.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: Of course, Yeah, okay, shut up and sit down. I mean,
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: I'm not on the sideline. It's you know, he's an
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: eight year old. You know, America is gonna be okay
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: with this helmet.
- 1:26:14Speaker 7: On, I mean, how much pressure are you putting on
- 1:26:17Speaker 7: an eight year old to have the riding of the
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: integrity of the country, Like it's.
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: A Pop Warner game.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: This in a statement here says the league says, quote
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: Ormond stands firm in our zero tolerance code of conduct.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Both parties were removed from our program until this investigation
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: is complete. No profanity, fighting, or intimidation is allowed on
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: our fields or near our youth. So the coach, now
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: on leave for the season, reacted to a child he
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: saw disrobing before safety, before safely reaching the sideline, and
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: in no way was attempting to prevent his respectful salute
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: to the flag. So the coach was just like following
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: the lead rules. He was just like, keep your helmet
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: on until we get over here. Then you could take
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: it off or do whatever. But that's not rule.
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: But everything is so anti patriotic right now, so maybe
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: he's a little oh yeah, yeah, well that it must
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: be a whol coach.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: It's exactly, it's it's not.
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: You know, it's just like you said, Jack, respect the flag,
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: but respect the coach.
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: Yeah, the respect starts right there.
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a rule. But it's a rule, exactly. There
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: are a lot of rules of this.
- 1:27:22Speaker 6: Care for if somebody, if somebody had ran up on
- 1:27:24Speaker 6: his child after he'd taken his helmet off and something
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: had happened, we'd be having a very different discussion.
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the statement was great, said the coach
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: just on le for for the season. Reacted to a
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: child he saw just robing before safely reaching the sideline.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: In no way at all was trying to prevent his
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: respectful salute to the flag. Like that's what the coach
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: is saying. I wasn't trying to do anything to keep
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: the kid from doing this. I mean, they're an ormond beach.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: I mean, I think a lot of people in Central
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: Florida feel the same way. They like to see their
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: children respect the flag, you know, hand over the heart,
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: you know, hat off, whatever the case may be.
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: And I think one of the rubs that I have
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: is that there's the real it's weird to say victim here,
- 1:27:59Speaker 7: but you know who I feel bad for this This eight.
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: Year old kid.
- 1:28:02Speaker 7: Yeah sure, just absolutely getting embarrassed by his dad. And
- 1:28:06Speaker 7: I almost promise you this guess who feels like the
- 1:28:08Speaker 7: biggest victim here?
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Is that dad.
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: Dad is saying why we can't we can't go ahead
- 1:28:14Speaker 7: and show our pride.
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: We can't go ahead and be patriotic. That's how he
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: took it.
- 1:28:18Speaker 7: Yeah, he looked at it and went, no, take the
- 1:28:21Speaker 7: helmet off. The flag is happening.
- 1:28:22Speaker 5: He went zero to sixty in negative.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: Dude, he got real sounds like Jim. He got real
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: end of American beauty with it. Yeah, like real, sanctimonious.
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: He's got real. That's weird, and he's gonna walk away
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: going we were done wrong. I was done wrong.
- 1:28:39Speaker 7: And that's the eye scratching, asinine part. There are rules,
- 1:28:43Speaker 7: there's a coach, and you just you made it all
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: about you and not about your eight year.
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: Old kids football game. I got a new goal as
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: a dad to never put my eight year old child
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: in a position like you just said.
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: By the way, they're sitting and doing this interview at
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: their dining room table, and the kid is sitting there
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: in his in his uniform, you know, in his in
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: his jersey with his pads, and the dad's just sitting
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: there doing his thing, you know, unlike a bro. All right,
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: for our seven nine one text us at seven seven

- 1:30:03Speaker 3: I'm Jimn's deb Jack is here and so is Ross.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: That's true, It is true. We got Ross slots coming
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: up at the top of the hour, Trivia coming up
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: here in a few minutes, and of course in the
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: six o'clock hour, we'll talk to Scott Brown from Edgewater Family.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: Well for its only money. A couple things here before
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: we get to trivia. Orlando has a really unique history
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: with professional sports. Would you guys agree with that? Oh yeah,
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: I'm very unique. I mean, we've had the Magic here
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: since the early nineties. They've been in town for a
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: long time. That is the epicenter. And of course the
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: MLS came in with Orlando City Soccer and Orlando Pride Soccer.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: That happened what about eight years ago? Eight nineteen years ago?
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: No, I did even is it eleven?
- 1:30:51Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:30:51Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, their first season of USL Pro I think
- 1:30:55Speaker 10: was twenty eleven, because yeah, I think it was twenty ten.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: We were talking about him. Twenty fifteen they became MLS.
- 1:31:01Speaker 10: MLS, right, So we have we had the Valkyries, we
- 1:31:04Speaker 10: have a professional volleyball team. The Orlando Magic is the
- 1:31:09Speaker 10: longest running, most professional, I believe sports franchise here. Sure, yeah, yeah,
- 1:31:14Speaker 10: Carolina and the football thing has been That's the one
- 1:31:18Speaker 10: that's been weird.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: And hot take.
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: I think Orlando sports, believe it or not, overall pretty
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: lucky in what manner.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: I know that's a hot take, right, yeah, because I
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: mean other I mean, the Magic and the Magic have
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: had I mean, obviously now we're kind of feeling a
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: little bit I mean we had a really hot run
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: there in.
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: The beginning because we had you know, Shaquille and Penny,
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: and you know, it's not just a hot run, that's
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: a generational would make an argument as the luckiest thing
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: to happen to a young franchise.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: I would agree with that, because the odds were astronomical
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: to get that pick, to be able to get Shaquille
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: and Penny, like like, the odds were yeah right, Dwight Howard.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: I mean, we had a bunch of superstars come through here,
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: so it's been kind of fun.
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: Like whenever I hear hell, whenever I hear people hating
- 1:32:03Speaker 7: on the Magic, I always like to remind them that
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: there are multiple franchises, franchises that have never made the
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: NBA Finals. Oh yeah, we've gone there twice. We've won
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: one game out of eight. But whatever, Yeah, right, we
- 1:32:16Speaker 7: got there.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: That's what matters. Well, Orlando has been a testing ground
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: for a number of franchises. Do you agree?
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: Today the today, the United Football League announces Tuesday that
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: a new team will come to Orlando for the UFL
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: back So yet another the Orlando Storm, will hit the
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: field at Enteranco Stadium next year. So they're going to
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: play at Enter and Co. And that's the soccer stadium,
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: is it not? Yes? What the hell?
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a minor American football league that was found
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: in twenty twenty three after a merger between the XFL
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: and the USFL. The team has eighteen or the league
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: has eight teams, the Birmingham Stallions, the Columbus Aviators, Dallas Renegades,
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: the DC Defenders, Houston Gamblers, Louisville Kings, Saint Louis Battle
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Hawk Hawks, and the Orlando Storm.
- 1:33:09Speaker 10: But I thought they were playing all of those games
- 1:33:11Speaker 10: at like one location. Oh really really, I didn't know that.
- 1:33:15Speaker 10: That's how the USFEL was doing it. And then they merged.
- 1:33:19Speaker 10: The XFL had a series of location.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Yes, they were playing at ucfough right where I thought
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: they were playing at the Bounce House. No, that was
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: the Renegades. No, that was the Orlando Apollos.
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: Oh, the Apollos. That's right, so many Yeah, somebody the Thunder,
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: the Apollos, the Renegades. But Apollos went under. Man that
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: the league went under. We were first place. Yeah, yeahah,
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: let's go. I have to tell you this is but
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: I read this this morning.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: I was like Is Orlando one of those markets where
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: we should really kind of warn buyers, Like, if you're
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: a realtor in a house has somebody that died in it,
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: don't you have to kind of tell them? Is this
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: one of those things you should go, hey, man, I
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: don't know if you noticed this, but in Orlando we
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: kill franchises here for this is what they do. They
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: come in and they're eighteen months later, they stop in
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: the middle of the season, and then they don't even
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: tell their players.
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: It's not Orlando's fault.
- 1:34:07Speaker 7: I would blame just the NFL, and I would blame
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: the stranglehold that the big sport leagues have on any
- 1:34:15Speaker 7: future competitor.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: We can legit have a museum of failed football teams
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: in Orlando, could we not?
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: How many are there? I mean, going back to the
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: Arena League, you have the Predators, they've come through twice.
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: Now you've had the Orlando Thunder, the Orlando Apollos, now
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: this is the Orlando Storm.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: Well there's more.
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: That's what we're missing some What was the one with
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: the bright green uniforms back in like the mid nineties
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: or late nineties, was that the Thunder? I think we've
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: had six attempts at professional football in the city. Somebody
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: needs to warn people with these franchises, this.
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: Ain't the place. Love, we don't really do that. I
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: love your comedic frustration with this. I'm like, not, is
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: anybody telling these people?
- 1:35:01Speaker 9: Is it?
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: Orlando Anarchy, Orlando Fantasy, Orlando Mayhem, Orlando Panthers, Orlando Predators,
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: Orlando Thunder.
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: And then and now the Orlando Storms.
- 1:35:12Speaker 7: Always thought the Predators was a bold choice. But there
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: there's still a round, right.
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: I don't think the arena football legue is it. I
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: don't know. I think they played somebody's backyard.
- 1:35:21Speaker 9: Now.
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: Now they played at UCF for a little bit.
- 1:35:25Speaker 10: I'm not sure if they hear to bring your own
- 1:35:28Speaker 10: chair to those games. Once he went a radio stunt guy,
- 1:35:34Speaker 10: you know, in the backfield, and I think, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:35:42Speaker 10: that owner was a mess.
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: That guy, Oh got him money. I went to Apollos game.
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: I had a blast. Yeah, it was fun.
- 1:35:48Speaker 10: My favorite part about talking about Tom Van aka drunking
- 1:35:52Speaker 10: the Bear when he actually ran a play at running
- 1:35:56Speaker 10: back for the Orlando Predators right calling the game on
- 1:36:00Speaker 10: radio was shot doctor and its color analyst was.
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: Me, Yeah that wasn't really I didn't know that. Yeah,
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: we've had the Orlando Rage. Remember rage. Yeah, Orlando was
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: the XFL. That's right now, we just call it I
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: for sir, renegades. Unbelievable.
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: There could be a legit museum of failed football franchises
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: here in Orlando, and it would take a minute to
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: get through it. I mean that would mean just a
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: glancing thing. You'd have to take a second read.
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: I think I know what would happen to that museum.
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: What in the middle of the day while you're inside,
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: they would just lock you in and one day let
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: me out.
- 1:36:45Speaker 7: You know what I loved when the Apollo Football was
- 1:36:49Speaker 7: here in town. The amount of amazing merge was throughout
- 1:36:55Speaker 7: this entire radio station. Like I mean, Steve Spurrier signed
- 1:36:59Speaker 7: a lot of stuff. Yeah, gave it to personally, like
- 1:37:03Speaker 7: to all these radio hosts. I thought that was really cool.
- 1:37:05Speaker 9: It was.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: Let me ask, man, what happens with those like helmets?
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: Did they just I'm kind of being honest. Those things
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: are not cheap. They're like one hundred two hundred bucks apiece.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: They scrape the old so they do they just peel
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: the label off and relabel off and slap a new
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: one off.
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: So that if you do that in Orlando, it's gonna
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: make that thing weg seven pounds. I mean, there's how
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: many labels can you put on one helmet? How many
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: stars or lightning bolts can you cover up?
- 1:37:28Speaker 10: So you're saying, it's like the logos keep getting bigger
- 1:37:31Speaker 10: and bigger and bigger because of that's.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: To cover the previous I can tend the old Orlando
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: helmets are the safest helmets in all of professional football.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: You're not gonna get past those stickers.
- 1:37:40Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: Let me let me this is a there's no better
- 1:37:43Speaker 7: time to go ahead and show my love and support
- 1:37:46Speaker 7: for a different type of football. Make sure to check
- 1:37:49Speaker 7: out Orlando City. Playoff push is coming up. We're already
- 1:37:53Speaker 7: in the playoffs.
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:37:54Speaker 7: I'm just like, if you're tired of Orlando football failing,
- 1:37:57Speaker 7: wait till you get a hold of Orlando foot fotball succeeding.
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: Because it's happened at Enduring Coast Stadium at Entering Coast.
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: Isn't that where the new Orlando Storm are going to
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: be playing? Oh?
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: No?
- 1:38:08Speaker 17: Is that?
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: I mean? I thought that? So what are the dimensions?
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: I do not even know the difference and is that
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: field gonna be able to take football players? Are they
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: gonna want to do that? That seems crazy to me
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: that they would even allow that to happen, because that
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: turf is a big deal to them.
- 1:38:22Speaker 10: They already play a game, the Cure Bawl. I know
- 1:38:25Speaker 10: they played the Cure Bowl there before. I don't know
- 1:38:28Speaker 10: this year if it's gonna be Yeah.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: But one game is different than a season of games
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: with cleats, tear, nothing apart, you know, And there.
- 1:38:34Speaker 7: Is a my soccer fan heart is glowing because so
- 1:38:39Speaker 7: many times in this country, specifically in the beginning of
- 1:38:42Speaker 7: soccer in MLS, they were always playing soccer matches on
- 1:38:46Speaker 7: football fields and you have to like look at the
- 1:38:50Speaker 7: old football numbers on top of a soccer pitch, and
- 1:38:53Speaker 7: now football teams are on top of soccer pitch.
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, crazy man. Tables have turned.
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: So I don't know exactly when the thing is coming.
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: Let's see here, says Channel. I will have a crew
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: at the event and will provide more details coming up
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: a little bit later. I guess today the conference was
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: at noon to share more details. I haven't seen anything
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: about it in the news anywhere, but I'm sure that
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: we will find out exactly what's gonna happen. Who's gonna
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: be the coaches, where they'll be getting the players, you know, yeah,
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: that is I don't know what they expect to do
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: with that. I mean, the NFL is such a dominant
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: league that I mean even in the off season stuff.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: When they tried to do spring football before, it just
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: it just doesn't catch on. You know, fans are in
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: a different mode at that point.
- 1:39:29Speaker 10: When they moved it to spring is when the I
- 1:39:33Speaker 10: thought the NFL kind of gave it like it's blessing.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: Yes, because it was coming. They're not competing at the NFL.
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: It's kind of like winter ball, yeah yeah, right right, yeah,
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: but they're not really competing now. I mean really, it's
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: a place for old college athletes that couldn't make it
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: anymore in the league to go and maybe had that
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: last blast of fame as a ballplayer, because I mean,
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: you know, we recognize some of the names, like when
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: the rage came through, there were former players there that
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: were D one players that were good players in college.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: But they just didn't have what it took. D D
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: Smart he hate me, yeah yeah he.
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: In the NFL, they ain't the Packers they ain't the packers,
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: that's for sure. And before we get over to trivia,
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: I did want to do this with a trooper Steve
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: from Channel six. He was in with this last Friday,
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: stomping Jack. You're such a dick, uh, they do the
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: ask Trooper Steve segment. I thought today's question was pretty cool.
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: Is it one of the first things you read when
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: you wake up?
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: No, it's not one of the first things I read
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: when I wake up. Actually, stop at Jack. I glanced
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: at today to see what the question was, and it
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: was legit. Most of the time the questions are pretty obvious.
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: The first the first thing he reads is hate speech.
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: Don't don't know what he was wearing, not paying attention?
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: Uh in nice colone though, right, Yeah, Tripper Steve says
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: on Tuesday quote, I see it all the time?
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: Can I slide into the merge lane to pass?
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: So, in other words, if you're merging, you know, you
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: come coming together and there's the lane to the right,
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: you're backed up in traffic. Can you get over into
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: that merge lane and go all the way down to
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: the front and then cut over?
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: Is that illegal? I'm going No, it's just real douche
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: Douche says here, if.
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: You've ever been stuck in bumper to bumper, bumper to
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: bumper traffic, you've probably seen it. That one driver zipping
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: into the merge lane on the right there to pass
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: the line of cars. But is that move legal in Florida?
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: I'm saying that the move is legal. You say it's not.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: What do you think, Jack, You're just to be a contrarian. No,
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: I think it is not legal.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: Florida Statute three one six dot eight four says. The
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: answer is no, you cannot do that. If a cop
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: sees you doing that, it's more than you just skipping
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: line and being a dick. It's you breaking the law.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: You cannot use that lane to pass the other people. So,
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: as pissed off as you may get, the one thing
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: you can really hope for is a cop to be
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: there to see somebody trying to do that and getting
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: yanked over and getting a ticket for it.
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: Yeah, because you could end up putting yourself in the
- 1:41:59Speaker 6: path of a car hard that's trying to merge onto
- 1:42:01Speaker 6: the highway.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: Dam it's legal if the vehicle in front of you
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: is making a left turn only then you can use
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: it to go around them as they wait for traffic
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: right for an opportunity for them to turn left. There
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: are clearly marked lanes. They say that allows you to
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: do that. Outside of that, you cannot do that. Yeah,
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: those merge lanes are designed to help traffic flow, letting
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: vehicles enter or exit smoothly, not to be used.
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: As a short cut when it's backed up.
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: And I got to tell you, that's about as mad
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: as I can get when someone, Oh yeah, that's pulling
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: that's pulling a gun on the kids on the boat.
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: Mate.
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: For me, I just pulled my car so that you
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: can't get around me.
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: I literally had to be pulled back from my wife.
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: We're getting in a fistfight in an airport and a
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: Dominican Republic over something like this.
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: Jimmy, I don't need.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: You legit, have no idea. There was this real I mean,
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: he's just a complete douchebag. Guys from France and and
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: and he was on our plane and we were all
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: trying to do the same thing, and we're in law
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: and this guy literally walks by everybody and just slides
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: in line. And I just started calling his ass out
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: and I was just like, man that I said you're
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: a dick. I'm like, you up there in the black,
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: you're a dick. He goes, well, I've got a flight
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: to catch. I'm like everybody's got a flight to catch.
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: Jackass. Oh made you even lose breath.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: My wife does that thing where she grabs you right
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: there by the elbow and kind of pulls you back
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: a little bit. Chill out, buddy, let's not get thrown
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: into a Dominican Republic jail.
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: I like how you said that, Like we have been
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: in that situation next to your wife, Like you would
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: know that maneuver. Yeah, she knows the maneuver. And then
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: then she hits you with the whole like calm down
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: elbow thing. You guys have been there, right, Yeah.
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: I can't stand that. I can't stand people who skip
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: line and stuff. That's that is one of the most
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: annoying things for me.
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: I hate it more than anything, is it? What's worse?
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: That are littering?
- 1:43:50Speaker 9: God?
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: Why would you hit me with that?
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: You like that?
- 1:43:52Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: I just want to make you fine. I wouldn't have thought, yeah,
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: I wouldn't have. I wouldn't have.
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: Pictured you as a guy who got really upset at littering.
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: Oh, I mean I don't like people. Well, I mean
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: I'm not gonna get a fight over it.
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: There, they're similar because there's.
- 1:44:05Speaker 7: Just it's disrespectful, it's late objective examples of disrespect. Yeah,
- 1:44:10Speaker 7: rude and douchery. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's a douchery in
- 1:44:12Speaker 7: those decisions. No care about not anything around you, but
- 1:44:16Speaker 7: also any one around you.
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: Yeah, nothing at all, No concern at all about the
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: anybody else but you.
- 1:44:21Speaker 9: Oh.
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: I love that. That's a great personality trait to have.
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: Really set you apart, all right?

- 1:48:24Speaker 3: I's got a question here for you. Four answers. One
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: of these answers is not true.
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: It's a lot. I'm trying to fool you.
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: But if you can find it, I will send you
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: over to jack and the Jackie Sack, and you, my friend,
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: can find something nice for yourself.
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: Are you ready?
- 1:48:36Speaker 9: Ready?
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: Here we go, buddy, on this day in twenty oh,
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: excuse me, that's not right, gott money, I got that.
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: I didn't change the date. I don't even know what
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: the day is.
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: Let's see on this.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: Day in nineteen fifty three, Russian president and global pariah
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: Vladimir Putin was born on this day.
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: Oh, let me, wow, that's right.
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: Check and see how old Vlatty is. I think he's
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: gonna be in his late seventies.
- 1:48:58Speaker 4: Right, probably, pot yeah, pooty poots. What is his birthday?
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: It's seventy three years old. He was born in nineteen
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: fifty two, Jimmy.
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: Right, year away.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: Vladimir Putin was born on this day. Here three fun
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: facts about Vladimir and one hammer and sickle of a lie.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: All right, buddy, we're talking about Ladimir Putin, which one
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: of these is not true? Number one, Vladimir Putin is
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: a huge Beatles fan. Number two, Vladimir Putin has a
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: law degree from Leningrad State University. Number three Vladimir Putin
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: speaks fluent German and English. Or lastly, Vladimir Putin is
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: the third of seven children. Which of those is a lie?
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: The second one, No, that's absolutely true. Vladimir Putin has
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: a degree in law from Leningrad State University.
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: I'm Martin, I Martin, alright, one, two, four or five
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: four is the answer. That's luke, Luke, how you doing.
- 1:49:58Speaker 9: I'm doing good.
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: How are y'all doing good? Buddy?
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: We're talking about Vladimir Putin here? Which one of these
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: is not true?
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: Number one?
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: Vladimir Putin is a huge Beatles fan. Number two Vladimir
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: Putin speaks fluent German and English. Or lastly, Vladimir Putin
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: is the third of seven children.
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: I'm going number three, that's the one. But you're a winner.
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: See yeah, let me tell you very interesting thing about
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: Putin while I've got you on the line here. He
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: actually is the third child. He's the only one that survived.
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: Both of the kids that were had before Vladimir Putin
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: both died. He took him out, Yeah, probably so he
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: probably ate him in the womb. You know, I'm gonna
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: put you on hold there, buddy, You are a winner, lukela.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: Vladimir Putin is a gigantic Beatles fan. Is he like
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: a gigantic Beatles fan?
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: Such ame?
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: He does speak fluent German and English? On top of
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: his native Russian and he is the third child for sure,
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: but his brother I think both of his siblings passed
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: away before they were adults. A couple other things you
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: may not know about Vladimir Putin before we get the
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: top of the hour. He had some ross launs. Oh,
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: I'm excited what happened in two thousand and seven for him?
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: He felt something. Yeah, yeah, he was Time Magazine's Person
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: of the Year. Oh in two thousand and seven. Uh,
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: He's been nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: Yes, oh, I was gonna laugh at that Nobel Peace Prize.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: I can't imagine white four. And then lastly here he
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: is a black belt in judo. There, you know, Vladimir Putin.
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: The console for Nobel Peace Prize is like, yeah, we
- 1:51:36Speaker 7: had to we know, monated him.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: Yeah right, okay, it was some it was some negotiation
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: he had with some country or something or something like that.
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: It was.
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: It wasn't something you would think that Putin would get
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: nominated for, of course. Now and you know, uh, but
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: that's interesting how bad Trump wants won You know, I
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: wonder if it has anything to do with the fact
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: the fact that Putin was nominated twice. Oh I don't
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: know interesting, Ross, but you got for thoughts, Bunny.
- 1:52:00Speaker 7: I have figured out the weirdest and most comedic way
- 1:52:04Speaker 7: to find out how poor you are. I think that
- 1:52:12Speaker 7: there is a societal example that shows you and tells you.
- 1:52:17Speaker 7: And we put so much weird meaning behind this one
- 1:52:21Speaker 7: thing that's in the grocery store that if you get
- 1:52:24Speaker 7: this one version versus the other version, it says everything
- 1:52:29Speaker 7: everybody needs to know about you. And I disagree with it,
- 1:52:33Speaker 7: but I'm just here to point out, Wow, everyone gets
- 1:52:36Speaker 7: super judgmental when you buy this.
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: All right, we'll do that next.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: The Jim Colbert Show on YouTube.
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: Let's see what policies will violate today, Real Radio, dot FM,
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: slash Watch.
- 1:52:54Speaker 17: Hey, Guys's Deputy Scott talking about low budget horror films
- 1:52:58Speaker 17: back in nineteen eighty I think it was they filmed
- 1:53:02Speaker 17: a low budget Italian horror film in mount Door of Florida.
- 1:53:06Speaker 17: I gotta be in it. It's kind of cool. I
- 1:53:08Speaker 17: gotta beat up a priest and then we yelled at
- 1:53:12Speaker 17: a rubber witch that we lit on fire and watched
- 1:53:15Speaker 17: her melt.
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: It's pretty intense. Have great to thank you that's kind
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: of cool. Then none of that you can say about that. Yeah,
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: welcome back to the Jim Ober Show, Real Radio one
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: four point one. Bill's b I l LS. That is
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: your six o'clock keyword. Bills. Get over to a real
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: radio NFM. Send it away. You know what to do.
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: Go get that money. Bill's is the word, guys, Good luck.
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: I'm Jim. There's deb Hello, Jack, Yep, and Ross. Speaking
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: of Ross, let's get some thoughts.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: It's weird. Oh yeah, it's funny.
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: Sometimes brought to you by It's Ross spelled like sauce,
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: so do we It's Ross thoughts.
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: That's right. Today's Ross Thoughts is brought to you.
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: By Personal Injury Attorney Mode went injured on the go
- 1:54:01Speaker 7: just call Mode. Thank you MOE for having me here,
- 1:54:04Speaker 7: because that way I can tell people about what is
- 1:54:07Speaker 7: one of the weirdest cornerstones of disparity and judgment I
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: think in Western culture.
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: So what you're saying is just if you own or
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: do this, people will automatically know maybe you haven't planned well, yeah,
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: well planned.
- 1:54:23Speaker 7: Well, or they just I mean, Jim, I could feel
- 1:54:26Speaker 7: you side eyeing someone until your eyes rolled out.
- 1:54:31Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, I'm not a judge person. Guys career
- 1:54:36Speaker 4: out of it. Yeah, but that's fake. And sometimes this is.
- 1:54:41Speaker 7: Too much my jack and something I would think also
- 1:54:44Speaker 7: depth chagrin every now and then. It's also you're pretty accurate.
- 1:54:48Speaker 7: You have a lot of good hunches. Okay, like your
- 1:54:52Speaker 7: judgments aren't bat in a thousand, but they aren't like
- 1:54:56Speaker 7: majority wrong. It's just a lot of times you don't
- 1:54:59Speaker 7: really act on those hunches. Aka, you didn't buy the
- 1:55:03Speaker 7: impossible impossible meat.
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: Yeah you called that one, and then not a dollar
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: made off of Yeah, not a dollar.
- 1:55:09Speaker 7: But no, I think the greatest cornerstone example of oh,
- 1:55:14Speaker 7: you're one of those people versus like, one day I'll
- 1:55:17Speaker 7: be one of those people. I'll give you a small
- 1:55:21Speaker 7: hint here. But Jim, let me ask you a quick question.
- 1:55:25Speaker 7: I get, how much does a box of honey nut
- 1:55:29Speaker 7: cheerios cost.
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: About six and a half dollars these days? Oh my god,
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: I'm looking at five dollars and sixty nine percent? Okay?
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: Is that that bad? Less than a dollar off? No,
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: I'm no, And I know it's impressive that you got that.
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: It's shocking that serial cost oh yeah, without question, And
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: it is like I'm so glad I don't have to
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: buy it for my kids anymore, because also it's junk.
- 1:55:57Speaker 7: And it's also a little shocking whenever some one of
- 1:56:00Speaker 7: power or of celebrity status gets asked that question and
- 1:56:04Speaker 7: they go two dollars zero, Like, dude, we aren't even
- 1:56:09Speaker 7: one in the same not even.
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: In the same world.
- 1:56:12Speaker 7: Dude, our experience with society and life and existence very different.
- 1:56:17Speaker 7: Because you just guess thirty five dollars for a box
- 1:56:20Speaker 7: of cheerios, right, you're so out of it.
- 1:56:23Speaker 4: But it is cereal related. There is no bigger difference
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: and no more judgment. That's way out of pocket it
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: per capita, man, I mean way too much bag cereal
- 1:56:36Speaker 4: versus box cereal. The minute, I didn't know where you
- 1:56:39Speaker 4: were going, and then I kinda I rewound to the
- 1:56:42Speaker 4: beginning of the statement.
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: I was like, oh, I know exactly where it's going.
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: You are seven thousand percent right. I don't care if
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: I had bars of gold and bottles of one hundred
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: dollars wine in my card. When you see that bag
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: sial or you're like, oh, sorry for your situation, their dog.
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: Sorry for your situation. That is the That is a
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: telle of all tel you.
- 1:57:04Speaker 7: Can have wine that came from the Titanic, but it
- 1:57:08Speaker 7: fits next to great crisps. I got bad news for
- 1:57:12Speaker 7: you with like a different looking Tony or it's not
- 1:57:15Speaker 7: it's Anthony the Cat.
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: It's not.
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: You can have a real Louis on and somebody's like,
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: oh my god, and they have a fake purse. Listen,
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: you'll never get credit. It just makes sense, does it.
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: Just don't defend listen, don't defend it. Jack, It's less waste. Yeah,
- 1:57:32Speaker 4: because guess what you buy the box cereal that's inside
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: a bag, inside a box. At least if you're getting
- 1:57:39Speaker 4: a bag, let's cut out the box. No question, dud.
- 1:57:42Speaker 6: We found who buys bag on the show. I think
- 1:57:44Speaker 6: we knew it's listen, I get all these out, all
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: even worse. No, it's actually much better. It's cheaper and
- 1:57:52Speaker 6: it comes to the bob.
- 1:57:54Speaker 7: You enjoy your bag of Captain munch, you know, and
- 1:58:00Speaker 7: I've always cheery eyes. Yeah, they couldn't afford the second helme.
- 1:58:08Speaker 4: It's just listen. It's a very fun thing. Yeah. People
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: have always poked fun of, but now it's.
- 1:58:13Speaker 7: Actually grown into like the culture and now people like
- 1:58:17Speaker 7: seriously jokes you if you be walking around what looks
- 1:58:21Speaker 7: like to be a bag of rabbit food that you
- 1:58:23Speaker 7: pour over.
- 1:58:24Speaker 4: Milk, looks like a colorful pillow, and I don't it's
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: so weird.
- 1:58:28Speaker 7: We are such an interesting species where just a cardboard
- 1:58:32Speaker 7: box makes us feel a little bit safer. Not all
- 1:58:36Speaker 7: of us, but only us get to feel safer via
- 1:58:40Speaker 7: cardboard box around a bag of series.
- 1:58:43Speaker 4: Is there are there others?
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: Is like store soda in that same thing, Like instead
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: of having like pepsi or doctor pepper, you have the
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: doctor check or the are the are the mountain?
- 1:58:53Speaker 9: Was it a yeah?
- 1:58:54Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's bet a mountain dew. It's like uh
- 1:58:57Speaker 7: like uh slope tears, mountain rain or something mountain rain.
- 1:59:02Speaker 7: The yes, it's still there. That judgment is still there,
- 1:59:05Speaker 7: all right.
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: I do not judge. I would also say that we
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: do not judge, but we are all aware of the judgment.
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: For sure. Yeah, for sure. Soda doesn't get catch the
- 1:59:17Speaker 4: same amount of heat that bag cereal. I would agree
- 1:59:19Speaker 4: with that.
- 1:59:20Speaker 9: That is it.
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: That is that has its own unique space. The bag cereal.
- 1:59:24Speaker 6: Yeah, it's at the bottom. You have to reach for
- 1:59:29Speaker 6: that bad boyore.
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: Does your family ever? Does your family ever fight? Back.
- 1:59:35Speaker 4: Does your family fight back? What are you kidding? What
- 1:59:37Speaker 4: are you talking about?
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: Do they fight back? Do they say do they say dad?
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: Do they come up and grab it out of there
- 1:59:42Speaker 3: and say Dad? Today we're getting we're getting a brand name.
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: We're getting Post, we're getting Kellogg's. We're not doing this today.
- 1:59:50Speaker 15: We're tired of the cin aspirest of all, you guys
- 1:59:55Speaker 15: are making yourself look foolish when you're coming up against Aldi,
- 1:59:59Speaker 15: because everyone listening who's an only chopper knows you guys
- 2:00:03Speaker 15: know not what you speak of, and we know that
- 2:00:06Speaker 15: product is superior and at a better price.
- 2:00:09Speaker 10: I don't buy back Cereal. I don't look down on
- 2:00:12Speaker 10: people who buy it, but I know you do get
- 2:00:13Speaker 10: it a dollar general.
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: So that's a little susy. But hey, everybody, get the round.
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: We're gonna have some fruity o's.
- 2:00:22Speaker 4: M are these tastes a bullet fruit scoops. Taste the
- 2:00:25Speaker 4: red number seven. It's delicious. You enjoy wasting money. I
- 2:00:29Speaker 4: applaud you for that. It helps the economy. I'm sure dad,
- 2:00:33Speaker 4: we got corny chomps again. Yeah, and I don't how
- 2:00:39Speaker 4: about what's do you think blind tests? You could tell
- 2:00:44Speaker 4: I think I could tell. I think I could tell
- 2:00:46Speaker 4: you immediately. We could do it on the air immediately.
- 2:00:48Speaker 3: I could tell the box Cereal, the name brand Cereal
- 2:00:52Speaker 3: from the store Cereal without question.
- 2:00:55Speaker 4: Jack, do you think you could tell?
- 2:00:58Speaker 7: That's the real question, because all of us are, we're
- 2:01:01Speaker 7: box Cereal.
- 2:01:02Speaker 4: Big old bowl, a brazen fan. Could I tell? Do
- 2:01:09Speaker 4: you think you could tell? Yeah? Jack's specifically like what
- 2:01:14Speaker 4: a box Cereal against what a bag Cereal? So don't
- 2:01:17Speaker 4: need bag cereal? Well, I don't know, but if I
- 2:01:19Speaker 4: know what it tastes. What do you mean you don't
- 2:01:20Speaker 4: eat back cereal? What do you mean by that you
- 2:01:24Speaker 4: don't need cereal? I don't need bagged cereal? You buy
- 2:01:28Speaker 4: bag cereal? Who eats it? Wait? I don't buy bag cereal.
- 2:01:31Speaker 4: You've been talking about buying bag cereal the time I.
- 2:01:34Speaker 5: Said, he says he gets it.
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: I get it at all. The you missed that part.
- 2:01:40Speaker 4: You know it's so funny too. Is he trying to
- 2:01:42Speaker 4: think of something bad about it? That's always funny?
- 2:01:46Speaker 7: Is Jack bringing up a great point? Is that like
- 2:01:49Speaker 7: it comes in a bag in the box, and yet
- 2:01:56Speaker 7: we don't play with the people who just.
- 2:01:58Speaker 4: Buy it no box. Now you underst stand why aliens
- 2:02:00Speaker 4: are like, no, not yet. Yeah, they're not far though,
- 2:02:06Speaker 4: a right around the corner. Yeah, okay, like I don't
- 2:02:08Speaker 4: want to maybe.
- 2:02:08Speaker 5: The next millennia will come back and check on the neighborhood.
- 2:02:11Speaker 4: Again or the end of this day. And then have
- 2:02:13Speaker 4: you ever taken out the bag within a Cereal box? Yeah,
- 2:02:17Speaker 4: then you can't put it back in. It's the weirdest
- 2:02:18Speaker 4: magic drink of all the time. Yeah, because it gets
- 2:02:20Speaker 4: real fast, yeah and choty very That's why you don't
- 2:02:24Speaker 4: take it all the way out of the box.
- 2:02:25Speaker 7: Yeah, but you gotta every Now, then you just got
- 2:02:27Speaker 7: to look at that bag. You just if you were
- 2:02:30Speaker 7: to take out the bag out of the box and
- 2:02:32Speaker 7: then just put that in you know, the cupboard, and
- 2:02:36Speaker 7: why am the pantry and.
- 2:02:37Speaker 3: Why don't they have the resealable bags inside Cereal? They
- 2:02:41Speaker 3: do that with everything else, Like you buy a pack
- 2:02:43Speaker 3: of hot dogs now and they come in a resyllable pack.
- 2:02:46Speaker 4: But yet Cereal, you just have to do.
- 2:02:48Speaker 3: The roll up trick and hope to got it doesn't
- 2:02:50Speaker 3: go stale in twenty minutes and then after spending eleven
- 2:02:53Speaker 3: dollars on it and then full.
- 2:02:54Speaker 4: Circle, guess who has the resealable bag bag cereal? It
- 2:02:58Speaker 4: does they come put the is it.
- 2:03:02Speaker 7: Literally makes more sense to buy bag cereal in every definition,
- 2:03:06Speaker 7: in every possible way.
- 2:03:08Speaker 3: You will still get your balls ragged endlessly if you
- 2:03:11Speaker 3: come home with it.
- 2:03:11Speaker 4: But if you are given the option and you're in
- 2:03:13Speaker 4: the middle of the grocery store, you're gonna look at
- 2:03:15Speaker 4: both you and go now, I'm better than that. Hey,
- 2:03:17Speaker 4: which which of a good month?
- 2:03:19Speaker 3: Which of those cereals do you think would be the
- 2:03:21Speaker 3: most difficult to ascertain whether or not it was the
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: cheap version or the you know, or the popular like
- 2:03:28Speaker 3: a Kellogg version that's a great du.
- 2:03:31Speaker 4: Like rice crispies. I think cornflakes. I think it's the opposite.
- 2:03:35Speaker 3: I would think it'd be something with like the normal version,
- 2:03:38Speaker 3: like cinemon toast crunch, Like the normal version would have
- 2:03:41Speaker 3: lots of sugar, lots of cinnamon.
- 2:03:42Speaker 4: Because you can hide it, you're hiding it under all
- 2:03:44Speaker 4: of it.
- 2:03:45Speaker 3: I would think that the cheaper version would probably have
- 2:03:47Speaker 3: less because cinnamon is expensive and then and of course
- 2:03:50Speaker 3: sugar is so I would think that would be easy
- 2:03:53Speaker 3: and maybe the raisin brand. I think it gets soggy
- 2:03:56Speaker 3: faster thought a lot about this. I had a lot
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: of time in this bag Cereal. You'll be able to
- 2:04:05Speaker 3: oh yeah, yeah, because that's the thing with cereal. You
- 2:04:07Speaker 3: don't wanted to get soggy too fast. That's why you
- 2:04:09Speaker 3: have to eat Raisin brand like it's the last meal
- 2:04:12Speaker 3: you're ever gonna have.
- 2:04:13Speaker 4: Don't you eat like grape nuts? What are you talking about?
- 2:04:17Speaker 4: It's called muclei. I eat musliks. It sounds like something
- 2:04:24Speaker 4: you cough up. It's like, no, it does, doesn't it
- 2:04:26Speaker 4: it does. It's like that's it's from Sweden. Right, it's uh.
- 2:04:30Speaker 4: I got all that. Yeah, we had like a granola.
- 2:04:32Speaker 4: You pour milk over it's super good.
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: Just add oat milk and just get it over with.
- 2:04:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm all stuck together with the honey. Very good
- 2:04:39Speaker 7: for you, bag Cereal. People rejoice, We see you. You
- 2:04:43Speaker 7: are done wrong, But don't judge me when I never
- 2:04:47Speaker 7: join your side. Don't see a ros's thoughts.

- 2:06:59Speaker 3: as they are lives.
- 2:07:00Speaker 4: Got how you doing, buddy?
- 2:07:02Speaker 9: Doing well? It was good to hear that Rush cut
- 2:07:06Speaker 9: My first concert ever, nineteen seventy nine or nineteen eighty,
- 2:07:10Speaker 9: I can't remember which Lakeland Civic Center. Rush.
- 2:07:13Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh so cool, Yeah, incredible and back then they
- 2:07:16Speaker 3: were in and you know, that's as progressive as progressive
- 2:07:18Speaker 3: rock got back in those days. You know, I went
- 2:07:21Speaker 3: from like Kansas and bands like Yes and to bands
- 2:07:24Speaker 3: like Rush and nobody really knew how to because Gedty
- 2:07:27Speaker 3: Lee's voice was so unique, but the music was so
- 2:07:30Speaker 3: incredible and just three people were making it. It was
- 2:07:32Speaker 3: just like one of those you know, the first time
- 2:07:34Speaker 3: you heard Rush, you never forgot it because you couldn't
- 2:07:36Speaker 3: believe three people.
- 2:07:37Speaker 4: Could do that.
- 2:07:38Speaker 9: Yeah, those damn Canadians.
- 2:07:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and just of course announcing their new tour Alex
- 2:07:45Speaker 3: Lifsen and Getty Lee.
- 2:07:47Speaker 4: Of course, no Neil Perk. But I just found out today.
- 2:07:49Speaker 3: I did not know that the percussionists, the drummer they're
- 2:07:52Speaker 3: bringing along to replace almost the irreplaceable Neil Peart is
- 2:07:56Speaker 3: a young lady I've never heard of.
- 2:07:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:07:59Speaker 9: No, I read that this morning too, and I had
- 2:08:01Speaker 9: no idea who she was. Obviously, a Neil Pert was
- 2:08:05Speaker 9: a really I mean, obviously he was an icon in
- 2:08:08Speaker 9: terms of drummer. But he was also, you know, a
- 2:08:10Speaker 9: big cross country motorcycle guy, which is near and dear
- 2:08:12Speaker 9: to my heart. So he had spent a good portion
- 2:08:15Speaker 9: of the latter part of his life riding motorcycles across
- 2:08:18Speaker 9: the United States, in fact, mostly so he was a
- 2:08:21Speaker 9: big He was a big motorcycle guy.
- 2:08:22Speaker 4: That's cool. I did not know that. I mean you yeah,
- 2:08:24Speaker 4: you've done that.
- 2:08:26Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, I've done I've written all the way
- 2:08:28Speaker 9: across Cuba.
- 2:08:29Speaker 4: Have you really?
- 2:08:30Speaker 6: I have?
- 2:08:31Speaker 9: I did that two years ago, got on a motorcycle
- 2:08:34Speaker 9: with seven buddies and a cross Cuba. We went.
- 2:08:36Speaker 4: Now out of curiosity, did you ship your own bike
- 2:08:39Speaker 4: down there? Did you just rent one?
- 2:08:41Speaker 11: No?
- 2:08:41Speaker 9: So when you get down there, they have you know,
- 2:08:44Speaker 9: they do business with the Europeans, so they're German. In fact,
- 2:08:47Speaker 9: my bike was a BMW, so they had German BMW's
- 2:08:50Speaker 9: down there that they supplied just and we were guided
- 2:08:52Speaker 9: all the way across Cuba from one end to the
- 2:08:54Speaker 9: other by a local who was a huge motorcycle guy.
- 2:08:58Speaker 9: And it was one of the coolest trips I've ever
- 2:08:59Speaker 9: done in my life.
- 2:09:00Speaker 4: I got a imagine, Man, that's cool that food and
- 2:09:02Speaker 4: the cigars are the great rum.
- 2:09:04Speaker 9: All the entire cigars have bound. My friend, They're everywhere.
- 2:09:07Speaker 4: Got them. It is wild, howk out?
- 2:09:09Speaker 3: And I'm guessing they're not seventy five dollars a piece
- 2:09:11Speaker 3: down there while you're buying them from the local.
- 2:09:13Speaker 9: They are not. Although they see that you're American, the
- 2:09:16Speaker 9: price does go up considerably.
- 2:09:17Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure. What do you ride right now? Do
- 2:09:19Speaker 4: you still have a bike? I sold my last bike.
- 2:09:22Speaker 9: I had a Husky nine oh one, which was an
- 2:09:25Speaker 9: adventure bike, which is all the rage these days. But
- 2:09:28Speaker 9: after my trip through Cube and one other ride I
- 2:09:31Speaker 9: had after nine broken ribs, I decided it was time
- 2:09:35Speaker 9: to end the fifty five year experiment with motorcycles.
- 2:09:38Speaker 3: Well, you know, I love riding as well. Scott and
- 2:09:41Speaker 3: we had a close call. My wife just like to
- 2:09:43Speaker 3: ride with me. We had a close call a couple
- 2:09:45Speaker 3: of times, and that last time my wife said, I'm good,
- 2:09:48Speaker 3: I've had all of the riding I want. And then
- 2:09:51Speaker 3: you know again, traffic became so crazy. I just sold
- 2:09:54Speaker 3: fine as well. I just didn't want to roll the
- 2:09:56Speaker 3: dice anymore. In Florida, it's it's you know, I'm an
- 2:09:59Speaker 3: old dirt bike. So riding in the street has not
- 2:10:02Speaker 3: ever really been my favorite.
- 2:10:03Speaker 9: After trees don't jump out at your cars, do exactly,
- 2:10:07Speaker 9: although my wife would argue two or three times at
- 2:10:11Speaker 9: the hospital the tree did jump out in front of me.
- 2:10:14Speaker 3: But on apet Oh, very cool. I think that just
- 2:10:19Speaker 3: fell on your internet. You just cut out there for
- 2:10:23Speaker 3: a quick exactly.
- 2:10:24Speaker 12: That's cool.
- 2:10:25Speaker 4: Scott joins us every single story. That's all right, don't worries.
- 2:10:28Speaker 3: Scott joins us every single Tuesday, around six twenty years
- 2:10:30Speaker 3: so to discuss some things happening over at the firm.
- 2:10:32Speaker 3: Also some answer some questions from listeners, and if you
- 2:10:35Speaker 3: have one while we're doing the segment, you can easily
- 2:10:37Speaker 3: text to it. Text to jes Louise, text it to
- 2:10:40Speaker 3: us at seven seven zero three one. Scott, what you
- 2:10:44Speaker 3: got versus week, buddy, Well, we had we had a.
- 2:10:47Speaker 9: Question last week we didn't have a chance to get
- 2:10:48Speaker 9: to and this person said, I have a Vanguard four
- 2:10:52Speaker 9: oh one A, which is basically a four oh one
- 2:10:54Speaker 9: K for government employees in a job that matches my contributions.
- 2:10:58Speaker 9: I also have an Acorn's account, which I think is
- 2:11:00Speaker 9: kind of cool. That's up sixteen percent. One of the
- 2:11:03Speaker 9: things that I hear from people a lot is before
- 2:11:07Speaker 9: I answer the full question, is you know i've got
- 2:11:09Speaker 9: this hey, and I've got this account at x y
- 2:11:12Speaker 9: Z firm, the four oh one K is only up
- 2:11:16Speaker 9: about ten percent, the other accounts up sixteen percent, and
- 2:11:20Speaker 9: they can get confused.
- 2:11:24Speaker 4: Nope, yeah, we're there, we're back.
- 2:11:27Speaker 9: Sorry my sounds coming and going. I apologize. But people
- 2:11:31Speaker 9: get confused by by the they think the four to
- 2:11:35Speaker 9: one K has a return in the brokerage account has
- 2:11:37Speaker 9: a return. Really, the return is a byproduct of the
- 2:11:40Speaker 9: investments you have inside of each So some people will say, well,
- 2:11:44Speaker 9: I don't like my four oh one K because the
- 2:11:45Speaker 9: return sucks. And then they'll say, but I do like my,
- 2:11:48Speaker 9: in this case Acorn account because the return is good.
- 2:11:51Speaker 9: But really what they're talking about is the investments inside
- 2:11:54Speaker 9: of each of them. So I think sometimes people get
- 2:11:56Speaker 9: confused and think that a four to one K is
- 2:11:58Speaker 9: good in an Acorn account or Robinood account or a
- 2:12:01Speaker 9: Schwab account, that's bad. It's really simply a product, a
- 2:12:05Speaker 9: byproduct of what you have in there.
- 2:12:06Speaker 7: Well where who determines what stock to buy on a
- 2:12:10Speaker 7: government for a one k?
- 2:12:13Speaker 9: Well, it's no different than any other version. Right, They're
- 2:12:16Speaker 9: gonna have funds inside. They're gonna have a bond fund,
- 2:12:18Speaker 9: a stock fund, a small cap, large cap, growth value
- 2:12:22Speaker 9: index products. They're going to have all kinds of things
- 2:12:24Speaker 9: in there. And again when people say that to me,
- 2:12:27Speaker 9: I often ask, okay, but what's in those things? Right?
- 2:12:31Speaker 9: Because you may have put a bond fund that earned
- 2:12:33Speaker 9: six percent in your four oh one K and picked
- 2:12:35Speaker 9: a stock fund that did fifteen percent. That doesn't by definition,
- 2:12:39Speaker 9: that doesn't make either plan better than the other. It
- 2:12:41Speaker 9: just means you bought different things. But this person asked,
- 2:12:44Speaker 9: should I combine the accounts? Should I? Well, my first
- 2:12:47Speaker 9: question is are you maxing out the part of your
- 2:12:50Speaker 9: four oh one K slash four oh one A that
- 2:12:54Speaker 9: are you getting the most of your employer's match Once
- 2:12:56Speaker 9: you've reached that level, you can probably have other conversations,
- 2:13:00Speaker 9: but I would say until you're getting every dollar from
- 2:13:03Speaker 9: your employer, in this case the government, I would say
- 2:13:06Speaker 9: you go that route when that's maxed out. That's assuming
- 2:13:10Speaker 9: you have enough reserve saving one hand to provide for
- 2:13:13Speaker 9: an emergency. So combining And the last point I'll make
- 2:13:16Speaker 9: is that combining the two doesn't make sense because the
- 2:13:19Speaker 9: only way you can add to a four oh one
- 2:13:21Speaker 9: A or a four oh one K or a four
- 2:13:22Speaker 9: oh three B is through payroll deduction. You can't just
- 2:13:25Speaker 9: jam outside money into a four to oh one case.
- 2:13:28Speaker 9: So the answer to the question I think essentially is
- 2:13:31Speaker 9: get to you. It appears to me you have savings
- 2:13:34Speaker 9: because you have this Acorns account. I would look to
- 2:13:37Speaker 9: the four oh one A to get the maximum match
- 2:13:39Speaker 9: I could.
- 2:13:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Scott, I also wanted to ask one other thing
- 2:13:41Speaker 3: about when it comes to your four oh one K,
- 2:13:42Speaker 3: whether it be a Fidelity account, Vanguard account, whatever the
- 2:13:44Speaker 3: case may be. Do you do you trust those companies
- 2:13:48Speaker 3: to choose on your behalf or do you always say
- 2:13:51Speaker 3: that there should be someone like you, you know, making
- 2:13:53Speaker 3: those choices and allocating that money where it should be.
- 2:13:56Speaker 9: What what do you prefer, Well, there's probably three choices there.
- 2:14:00Speaker 9: It didn't used to be this way, but there's probably
- 2:14:02Speaker 9: three choices now. When you can go to a professional,
- 2:14:04Speaker 9: most plans, if you have an employer based plan, whether
- 2:14:08Speaker 9: it's the government or local company, have a representative like
- 2:14:12Speaker 9: myself attached to it. Now. I will tell you, on average,
- 2:14:15Speaker 9: those people are not seen very often unless they're a
- 2:14:17Speaker 9: good one, and there are some good ones around town.
- 2:14:20Speaker 9: But I would seek out that person and ask their advice.
- 2:14:22Speaker 9: If you would prefer not to do that, the next
- 2:14:26Speaker 9: option would be to do it yourself. If you say, well, look,
- 2:14:28Speaker 9: I just want to cheap index fund. I know the
- 2:14:30Speaker 9: stock market does xyz over the last thirty years, and
- 2:14:33Speaker 9: if I leave it alone, it'll be fine, which is
- 2:14:35Speaker 9: also probably true. And the third option you is is
- 2:14:38Speaker 9: these companies Vanguard or Fidelity or whoever it is, to
- 2:14:41Speaker 9: row price, they will, for a little extra fee twenty
- 2:14:44Speaker 9: basis points fifteen basis points one fifth of one percent
- 2:14:49Speaker 9: will pick the investments for you. I will tell you,
- 2:14:52Speaker 9: on average, I would either get with the advisor or
- 2:14:55Speaker 9: just pick an index fund, especially if you're in it
- 2:14:57Speaker 9: for the long.
- 2:14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, very good talking to Scot around edgewaterfamilywealth dot Com.
- 2:15:01Speaker 3: We're doing its only money. We talk to him about
- 2:15:03Speaker 3: a number of things when he calls in on Tuesdays.
- 2:15:07Speaker 3: One of the things you have here is Ross and
- 2:15:08Speaker 3: I have a future you discussion. I don't know what
- 2:15:11Speaker 3: that means.
- 2:15:13Speaker 9: So Ross and I and our many conversations, had a
- 2:15:16Speaker 9: recent conversation about future you, encourrent you, and one of
- 2:15:21Speaker 9: the problems people have is they're not paying a whole
- 2:15:24Speaker 9: lot of attention to future you. Is that correct? Ross's
- 2:15:27Speaker 9: that what we talked about that is one.
- 2:15:28Speaker 7: Hundred percent, and that it's you got to be proactive
- 2:15:31Speaker 7: on loving future you.
- 2:15:34Speaker 9: Yeah. I mean a lot of people are struggle with
- 2:15:38Speaker 9: all kinds. I just read that there were thirty thousand
- 2:15:41Speaker 9: books published in the last ten years on personal health.
- 2:15:45Speaker 9: Yet as a country we have an ongoing health crisis
- 2:15:48Speaker 9: for of our diabetes, obesity, whatever it is. So it
- 2:15:52Speaker 9: tells you that it's not a lack of information, it's
- 2:15:54Speaker 9: the problem. Is that current you wants to have oreos
- 2:15:58Speaker 9: for dinner because you don't care that much about future you.
- 2:16:01Speaker 9: So I think the same thing is true of money.
- 2:16:05Speaker 9: You know, when you save, you're basically investing in future you.
- 2:16:09Speaker 9: You're investing in future you's independence, right, because if if
- 2:16:13Speaker 9: you don't invest today, or you don't even have to invest,
- 2:16:16Speaker 9: if you don't save, you're not looking out for future you.
- 2:16:20Speaker 9: You're more concerned with current you, who says, you know what,
- 2:16:23Speaker 9: I'd rather go to the club tonight and spend two
- 2:16:26Speaker 9: hundred dollars acting silly, drinking too much and carrying on,
- 2:16:31Speaker 9: because currently really wants to do that. But future you,
- 2:16:35Speaker 9: that's way down the road. We're not concerned all that
- 2:16:38Speaker 9: much about future us. Future us as somebody we don't
- 2:16:41Speaker 9: know that well and don't care that much about. In
- 2:16:44Speaker 9: the conversation and I that Ross and I have had
- 2:16:47Speaker 9: over the last little bit is how do we convince
- 2:16:49Speaker 9: current us to pay a little bit more attention to
- 2:16:53Speaker 9: future us? And that's a big problem for a lot
- 2:16:55Speaker 9: of people when it comes to wealth accumulation.
- 2:16:58Speaker 4: And what's the answer there?
- 2:17:00Speaker 3: I mean, is there a set answer for that or
- 2:17:02Speaker 3: is that just a that that's a subjective, subjective issue.
- 2:17:06Speaker 9: Well, I mean, I don't the answer is the obvious one,
- 2:17:08Speaker 9: which is more disciplined and concern for future you.
- 2:17:11Speaker 16: Right.
- 2:17:11Speaker 9: If if you know, if you're eating oreos for dinner,
- 2:17:15Speaker 9: and uh, and whatever the cereals. You were just mentioning
- 2:17:20Speaker 9: for breakfast, the serial you know, the lucky charms and
- 2:17:22Speaker 9: the things of that nature, and you're not paying in
- 2:17:25Speaker 9: current You likes those things.
- 2:17:26Speaker 4: I get it.
- 2:17:27Speaker 9: But future you is gonna have diabetes. Right, So it's
- 2:17:31Speaker 9: the same thing is true of money. If you if
- 2:17:34Speaker 9: you take a second to say, you know what current me.
- 2:17:36Speaker 9: I want you to sit on on the couch and
- 2:17:38Speaker 9: watch TV tonight, and we're gonna take that fifty extra
- 2:17:40Speaker 9: dollars and put it in our four oh one k
- 2:17:43Speaker 9: or put it put it in a savings account, whatever
- 2:17:45Speaker 9: I get. Morgan Hausel said this. Morgan Housel, you may
- 2:17:48Speaker 9: or may not remember, wrote the book The Psychology of Money,
- 2:17:51Speaker 9: which is the best selling money book of all time.
- 2:17:53Speaker 9: And I recently heard him say that, really, when you're
- 2:17:55Speaker 9: when you invest, when you save, you were investing in
- 2:17:59Speaker 9: your future, your independence, because you will never be independent
- 2:18:03Speaker 9: from an employer, from a parent, from a relative that
- 2:18:07Speaker 9: you have to borrow money from. You will never have
- 2:18:10Speaker 9: that independence if you don't invest in future use independence.
- 2:18:15Speaker 9: And if I think if people thought of it that way,
- 2:18:17Speaker 9: if they thought this fifty dollars that I'm not going
- 2:18:20Speaker 9: to spend and I'm gonna save is for my future
- 2:18:23Speaker 9: ability to be free to make the decisions I want
- 2:18:26Speaker 9: to make, because I want to make them. Because if
- 2:18:29Speaker 9: let's face it, if you're in a job you don't
- 2:18:31Speaker 9: like and you have no savings and you don't put
- 2:18:34Speaker 9: any effort into having any savings, every day that you
- 2:18:37Speaker 9: go to work that you don't like that job, you
- 2:18:39Speaker 9: are dependent on that employer that you do not like.
- 2:18:43Speaker 9: So when you're saving, maybe you're saving. Let's say, look,
- 2:18:46Speaker 9: in a year, I got to get a different job,
- 2:18:48Speaker 9: I'm going to need five grand in savings to take
- 2:18:50Speaker 9: that month to find that job. You're you're investing in
- 2:18:53Speaker 9: your future independence, And I think again, the problem is
- 2:18:56Speaker 9: we're all a little too caught up in current dusk
- 2:18:59Speaker 9: not to say you should enjoy life. I'm not saying
- 2:19:02Speaker 9: you shouldn't enjoy life. What I am saying is give
- 2:19:04Speaker 9: future you a little bit of time each and every day.
- 2:19:06Speaker 4: Yeah, future you is gonna think the lambo is a
- 2:19:08Speaker 4: stupid idea.
- 2:19:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, future you doesn't like you investing in the
- 2:19:12Speaker 3: things that depreciate at an exponential rate, like immediately.
- 2:19:17Speaker 4: That's what future you does not like. And I'll just think, yeah, and.
- 2:19:22Speaker 9: Well, think about think about how you feel after you
- 2:19:24Speaker 9: do something like that. I know, as a young man,
- 2:19:26Speaker 9: I always wanted the cool car, and I wanted people
- 2:19:28Speaker 9: to think I was cool. A little good that did me.
- 2:19:31Speaker 9: But so you know, if you bought the cool car
- 2:19:34Speaker 9: and I did it once I bought that Mustang five
- 2:19:36Speaker 9: point oho, I couldn't afford. You know, a week later,
- 2:19:40Speaker 9: I didn't care. I didn't didn't mean anything to me.
- 2:19:43Speaker 9: I had the French fry wrapper in the back. Nobody
- 2:19:45Speaker 9: you know. It just I wasn't watching it every other
- 2:19:48Speaker 9: day like I was when I first got it. I
- 2:19:50Speaker 9: mean again, that stuff dissipates, and current you is probably
- 2:19:54Speaker 9: making a little bit of mess for future.
- 2:19:55Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just it's so hard to talk about self
- 2:19:59Speaker 7: love in twenty twenty five. Watch the Segway self love
- 2:20:03Speaker 7: in twenty twenty five, because it's not the most.
- 2:20:05Speaker 4: Celebrated thing, right, and a lot of people look at it.
- 2:20:10Speaker 9: Well.
- 2:20:10Speaker 7: Discipline is also, if you squint in a different light,
- 2:20:14Speaker 7: that is self love for future you. Discipline now is
- 2:20:18Speaker 7: self love in the future.
- 2:20:20Speaker 4: Yeah, one hundred percent, that's what you am. Yeah.
- 2:20:23Speaker 9: Yeah, I couldn't agree more and We've talked about this.
- 2:20:25Speaker 9: I mean, delaying gratification is hard. But Jack's favorite thing
- 2:20:29Speaker 9: I think that I've ever said is when you begin
- 2:20:32Speaker 9: to be gratified by the delay is when it'll make
- 2:20:35Speaker 9: a difference. Because at some point people cross the thresholds
- 2:20:38Speaker 9: where they're like, oh, this is kind of cool. I
- 2:20:40Speaker 9: saved up fifty grand to fifty grand, maybe five grand.
- 2:20:43Speaker 9: I saved up one hundred grand, one hundred grand, maybe
- 2:20:45Speaker 9: ten grand. It again, once the gratification comes from the delay,
- 2:20:51Speaker 9: then that's when you start to make progress for future you.
- 2:20:54Speaker 4: All right, let's move on to the last one here.
- 2:20:57Speaker 3: Underspending is as much a disconnect as over spending. That
- 2:21:00Speaker 3: one does not make sense. Yeah, so I'm gonna go.
- 2:21:05Speaker 9: And this is going to fly in the face of
- 2:21:07Speaker 9: what we just talked about it, but I'm talking about
- 2:21:09Speaker 9: retirees who have been paranoid their whole lives, and because
- 2:21:12Speaker 9: of their paranoia have saved and it's a good paranoia.
- 2:21:15Speaker 9: They put away a lot of maybe they have five
- 2:21:16Speaker 9: hundred grand, they have a million dollars, and they're sixty
- 2:21:19Speaker 9: nine years old and the wife is begging them to
- 2:21:22Speaker 9: go on a cruise. They're begging them to take the
- 2:21:24Speaker 9: kids on a trip, begging them to go out to
- 2:21:27Speaker 9: a fancy dinner once a week, and because of their
- 2:21:30Speaker 9: paranoia kind of carrying over into their retirement, they're not
- 2:21:34Speaker 9: able to flip the switch. And what happens to those people.
- 2:21:37Speaker 9: I just lost one of my favorite clients of all
- 2:21:39Speaker 9: time last week. And what happens to those people, not
- 2:21:42Speaker 9: that he was in this category, but he certainly left
- 2:21:44Speaker 9: behind a pretty big nest egg, is that they haven't
- 2:21:47Speaker 9: done those things. They haven't enjoyed the money that they
- 2:21:50Speaker 9: labored to put away. And I do have difficulties sometimes
- 2:21:54Speaker 9: convincing my clients who have been thrifty, who have been thoughtful,
- 2:21:58Speaker 9: who have been dis to kind of all right, let's
- 2:22:01Speaker 9: make a transition. You know, last year you had eight
- 2:22:05Speaker 9: hundred grand. This year you got eight thirty. Next year
- 2:22:08Speaker 9: you'll have eight seventy. Let's spend some of this money.
- 2:22:11Speaker 9: Let's enjoy our time with our kids and our grandkids,
- 2:22:14Speaker 9: and take to wife to Hawaii. She's been begging you
- 2:22:16Speaker 9: for three months. Let's do it, you know. And that
- 2:22:19Speaker 9: becomes a little bit messed up with some people. They
- 2:22:23Speaker 9: get kind of confused and think, well, I this got
- 2:22:26Speaker 9: me here and I can't turn the switch or turn
- 2:22:29Speaker 9: it off because all hell will break loose. And the
- 2:22:31Speaker 9: reality is all hell won't break loose. Yes, we're still
- 2:22:35Speaker 9: gonna have good and bad years, but ultimately that can
- 2:22:37Speaker 9: be a little bit of a problem, and it can
- 2:22:39Speaker 9: be a little bit of a subject for couples to
- 2:22:43Speaker 9: argue about.
- 2:22:43Speaker 3: And I've seen that a lot in my office over here. Yeah,
- 2:22:46Speaker 3: So if you've saved it, enjoy it. Edgewardfamilywealth dot com.
- 2:22:51Speaker 3: We do have two events coming up the twenty second
- 2:22:53Speaker 3: in winter Park at Ruth Chris there twelve o'clock and
- 2:22:57Speaker 3: at Lake Mary just a couple of days later at
- 2:23:00Speaker 3: Ruth christ and Lake Mary at eleven thirty.
- 2:23:02Speaker 4: Are their seats available at both?
- 2:23:04Speaker 9: There are seats available at both. Winterfart's getting tight, but
- 2:23:07Speaker 9: there are there are still a few seats left. We'd
- 2:23:09Speaker 9: love to have you. We're gonna do something new at
- 2:23:11Speaker 9: these events we've never done before, which is we're gonna
- 2:23:13Speaker 9: do two live planning sessions. So we're we're gonna talk
- 2:23:16Speaker 9: a little bit about the stuff we normally talk about
- 2:23:19Speaker 9: taxes and costs and returns and planning, but we're actually
- 2:23:22Speaker 9: gonna take two hypothetical people, one age thirty and one
- 2:23:25Speaker 9: age sixty five, and we're gonna do about ten to
- 2:23:28Speaker 9: fifteen minutes of planning right in front of the group,
- 2:23:30Speaker 9: which I'll allow them to say, well, what about this,
- 2:23:33Speaker 9: or what if I wanted that, or what if I
- 2:23:34Speaker 9: need to buy a car every five years. We're gonna
- 2:23:36Speaker 9: do that planning right in front of them, which I
- 2:23:39Speaker 9: know how that's gonna go. I'm kind of both excited
- 2:23:42Speaker 9: and terrified, but I think I think the reality is
- 2:23:45Speaker 9: it'll be kind of fun. And I think for people
- 2:23:48Speaker 9: who have never seen a live plan done, who maybe
- 2:23:51Speaker 9: have thought I don't have enough money or I don't
- 2:23:53Speaker 9: want to embarrass myself in front of the advisor, this
- 2:23:55Speaker 9: is a real easy way to kind of just watch
- 2:23:59Speaker 9: it from a distance. At if you know you're watching
- 2:24:00Speaker 9: an operation right from up.
- 2:24:02Speaker 3: On high and then a lot of people automatically assume
- 2:24:04Speaker 3: everbody coming to the meeting is already set up.
- 2:24:06Speaker 4: The reason they're at the meeting is because maybe they're not.
- 2:24:08Speaker 3: So you're you're you're probably in like you're you're with
- 2:24:10Speaker 3: light minded people going through the same exact situation.
- 2:24:13Speaker 4: So you should never be afraid to be in one
- 2:24:15Speaker 4: of these meetings.
- 2:24:16Speaker 1: No.
- 2:24:16Speaker 9: And the funny thing is, you know, Jim, as soon
- 2:24:19Speaker 9: as somebody asks a question, people perk up rank. You know,
- 2:24:22Speaker 9: they had the exact same question, they just felt silly
- 2:24:25Speaker 9: asking it. So again, no silly questions Again. Go to
- 2:24:28Speaker 9: Edgewaterfamilywell dot com hit to drop down for Winter Park
- 2:24:31Speaker 9: or Lake Mary. That's October twenty second in Winter Park

- 2:24:41Speaker 3: and you get a free lunch. So it's a really
- 2:24:44Speaker 3: cool event and a really good opportunity for you to
- 2:24:46Speaker 3: kind of break that seal on what you think financial

- 2:25:10Speaker 9: easy download ebook for us, and then my original book

- 2:28:27Speaker 6: Ten years after a Broward County man disappeared, his family
- 2:28:30Speaker 6: now has a little bit of closure. Carolina Pascucci talked
- 2:28:35Speaker 6: yesterday about her nephew, Stephen James mccrell The twenty five
- 2:28:39Speaker 6: year old father was last seen at a Pompino gas
- 2:28:41Speaker 6: station on July thirtieth, twenty fifteen, and last week, Sunshine
- 2:28:47Speaker 6: State sonar found his body in a car A man
- 2:28:50Speaker 6: at the bottom of a lake in.
- 2:28:51Speaker 4: Palm Beach County. Unbelievable man.
- 2:28:53Speaker 6: And what makes this case so interesting is that he
- 2:28:55Speaker 6: was last seeing, like I said, at that gas station.
- 2:28:58Speaker 6: He was also seen having an alter care with some
- 2:29:00Speaker 6: other people inside of another car at about two thirty
- 2:29:03Speaker 6: in the morning, So when he disappeared, it really looked
- 2:29:05Speaker 6: kind of suspicious. The circumstances as to how he and
- 2:29:08Speaker 6: his car ended up in that lake are still possibly
- 2:29:10Speaker 6: under investigation, but his mother tells seven News in Miami
- 2:29:14Speaker 6: she had been praying to find him for the last
- 2:29:16Speaker 6: ten years, and she thanks God he was.
- 2:29:18Speaker 4: Finally finn Unbelievable man.
- 2:29:20Speaker 6: A new report suggests half of America's sandy beaches will
- 2:29:24Speaker 6: be gone by the end of twenty one hundred. The
- 2:29:27Speaker 6: Surfrider Foundations twenty twenty five State of the Beach report
- 2:29:31Speaker 6: sites climate driven rising sea levels. It says erosion is normal,
- 2:29:35Speaker 6: but climate change is making that problem worse. The Surfrider
- 2:29:39Speaker 6: Foundations Miami Chapter teamed up with the City of Miami
- 2:29:42Speaker 6: Beach to restore over ten acres of coastal dune habitat
- 2:29:46Speaker 6: according to the report. Of course, we've seen beach restoration
- 2:29:49Speaker 6: from Baratia County, Hillsboro County, Miami Dade all over this,
- 2:29:53Speaker 6: and a.
- 2:29:53Speaker 4: Couple of years ago, I remember they did it.
- 2:29:55Speaker 3: They dredged it, the whole beach thing, and then they
- 2:29:57Speaker 3: got blown away like literally a week and a halfway yep, exactly.
- 2:30:00Speaker 6: And then finally, authorities reported that up to twenty five
- 2:30:04Speaker 6: small hot air balloons, some confirm to be transporting smuggled cigarettes,
- 2:30:10Speaker 6: enter Lithuanian airspace late Saturday, prompting the temporary closure of
- 2:30:15Speaker 6: Vilnius Airport and causing flight delays lasting several hours.
- 2:30:19Speaker 4: Damn, that's crazy.
- 2:30:20Speaker 7: That would be a different way cigarettes kill POA the balloons.
- 2:30:24Speaker 6: How many flights, Well, the balloons interfered with thirty flights,
- 2:30:28Speaker 6: impacting six thousand passengers. Border police recovered eleven balloons and
- 2:30:33Speaker 6: some eighteen thousand packs of smuggled cigarettes and various locations.
- 2:30:37Speaker 6: And although this kind of sounds like a haha, funny story,
- 2:30:40Speaker 6: what it is is keeping Europe very much on edge.
- 2:30:43Speaker 6: Oh really, because of the incursion of Russian drones, so
- 2:30:46Speaker 6: they're finding them all over in European airspace and now
- 2:30:50Speaker 6: Lithuania is the latest.
- 2:30:51Speaker 4: Is Lithuania that anti cigarette?
- 2:30:54Speaker 5: And you heard it there first on the Jim Culbert Show.
