- 1:26The Collect. Let us pray. O God, who under a wonderful sacrament has left us a memorial of thy passion.
- 1:39Grant us, we beseech thee, so to venerate the sacred mysteries of thy body and blood that we may ever feel within us the fruit of thy redemption who live in reignest with God the father in the unity of the holy ghost. Through all ages of ages. Amen.
- 2:05A commemoration of Saint Margaret. Oh God, who didst fill the blessed queen Margaret with singular and admirable love for the poor.
- 2:18Grant that her pleading and example may continually increase divine love in our hearts through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen.
- 2:42A lesson from the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians.
- 2:49Brethren, the tradition which I received from the Lord and handed on to you is that the Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread and gave thanks and broke it and said take, eat. This is my body given up for you.
- 3:16Do this for a commemoration of me. And so with the cup when supper was ended, this cup, he said, is the new testament in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it for a commemoration of me. So it is the Lord's death that you are heralding whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup until he comes. And, therefore, if anyone eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily, he will be held to account for the Lord's body and blood.
- 4:02A man must examine himself first and then eat of that bread and drink of that cup. He is eating and drinking damnation to himself. If he eats and drinks unworthily, not recognizing the Lord's body for what it is. The gradual, O Lord, all creatures raise their eyes to thee and thou grant us them in due time their nourishment. Thou art ready to open thy hand and fill with thy blessing all that lives.
- 4:44Alleluia. Alleluia. My flesh is real food. My blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives continually in me and I in him.
- 5:02Alleluia. The sequence. Sing forth o Zion. Sweetly sing the praises of thy shepherd king in hymns and canticles divine. Dare all thou canst.
- 5:20Thou hast no song worthy his praises to prolong. So far surpassing powers like thine. Today, no theme of common praise forms the sweet burden of thy lays, the living life dispensing food, that food which at the sacred board unto the brethren 12, our Lord, his parting legacy bestowed. Then be the anthem clear and strong, thy fullest note, thy sweetest song, the very music of the breast. For now shines forth the day sublime that brings remembrance of the time when Jesus first his table blessed.
- 6:12Within our new king's banquet hall, they meet to keep the festival that closed the ancient Paschal rite. The old is by the new replaced. The substance hath the shadow chased, and rising day dispels the night. Christ willed what he himself had done should be renewed while time should run-in memory of his parting hour. Thus tutored in his school divine, we consecrate the bread and wine and low, a host of saving power.
- 6:58This faith to Christian men is given. Bread is made flesh by words from heaven. Into his blood, the wine is turned. What though it baffles nature's powers of sense and sight, this faith of ours proves more than nature error discerned. Concealed beneath the twofold sign meet symbols of the gifts divine.
- 7:27There lie the mysteries adored. The living body is our food, our drink, the ever precious blood. In each one undivided Lord. Not he that eateth it divides the sacred food which whole abides unbroken still nor knows decay. Be one or be a thousand fed, they eat alike that living bread which still received never wastes away.
- 8:06The good, the guilty share therein with sure increase of grace or sin. The ghostly life or ghostly death. Death to the guilty to the good immortal life. See how one food man's joy or woe accomplisheth. We break the sacrament, but bold and firm thy faith shall keep its hold.
- 8:39Deem not the whole doth more unfold than in the fractured part resides. Deem not that Christ doth broken lie. Tis but the sign that meets the eye. The hidden deep reality in all its fullness still abides. Behold the bread of angels sent for pilgrims in their banishment.
- 9:07The bread for God's true children meant that may not unto dogs be given. Often the olden types foreshadowed, in Isaac on the altar bowed, and in the ancient paschal food, and in the manna sent from heaven. Come then, good shepherd, bread divine, still show to us thy mercy sign. O feed us still, still keep us thine, so may we see thy glories shine in fields of immortality. O thou, the wisest, mightiest, best, our present food, our future rest.
- 10:04Come, make us each thy chosen guest, co heirs of thine, and comrades blessed with saints whose dwelling is with thee. Amen. Alleluia. A continuation of the holy gospel according to John. At that time, Jesus said to the multitudes of the Jews, my flesh is real food.
- 10:40My blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives continually in me and I in him. As I live because of the father, the living father who has sent me, so he who eats me will live in his turn because of me. Such is the bread which has come down from heaven. It is not as it was with your fathers who ate manna and died nonetheless.
- 11:23The man who eats this bread will live eternally. The offertory. It is for the priests of the Lord to offer their God incense and consecrated loaves. They are men set apart for God and must never bring reproach upon his name. Hallelujah.
- 11:55The secret. Graciously bestow on thy church, we beseech thee, O Lord, the gifts of unity and peace, which are mystically shown forth in the offerings now made through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of Saint Margaret. May this sacrifice of thy dedicated people be accepted by thee, O Lord, in honor of thy saints to whose merits we attribute the help afforded to us in tribulation.
- 12:47Through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. The preface of the nativity. Just it is indeed and fitting right in for our salvation that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, o holy lord, father almighty, everlasting God. For through the mystery of the word made flesh, the new light of thy glory hath shown upon the eyes of our mind so that while we acknowledge God in visible form, we may, through him, be drawn to the love of things invisible.
- 13:43And therefore, with angels and archangels, with thrones and dominions, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of thy glory evermore saying, holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion.
- 14:25It is the Lord's death that you are heralding whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup until he comes. And therefore, if anyone eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily, he will be held to account for the Lord's body and blood. Alleluia. The post communion. Let us pray.
- 14:55Fill us, we beseech thee, O Lord, with that eternal enjoyment of thy divinity, which is prefigured by the reception in this life of thy precious body and blood, who liveth in reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of Saint Margaret. Thou hast filled thy household, O Lord, with holy gifts. Do thou cherish us always through the intercession of her whose festival we are keeping through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages.
- 15:56Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy ghost. Amen. Saint Margaret, pray for us.
