- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06Speaker 1: where we left off with Doug Band and his interview
- 0:09Speaker 1: with Congress mister Grant, mister Burlison, mister Burlison, asking the questions. Now,
- 0:16Speaker 1: mister Band, who is Mark Middleton? Mister Band, I'm sorry,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I don't know who that is. Mister Burlison. You worked
- 0:22Speaker 1: in the White House? Correct band, Yes, sir Burlison, Mark Clinton.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You don't recall a gentleman named Mark Middleton working for
- 0:29Speaker 1: the Clintons band, I mean, I vaguely remember the name,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but I don't know who Mark Middleton is. So even
- 0:35Speaker 1: in all this reporting, you haven't heard the name Mark Middleton.
- 0:37Speaker 1: When Epstein visited the White House seventeen times, most of
- 0:41Speaker 1: those visits were with a Mark Middleton. Band, I don't
- 0:45Speaker 1: recall knowing who that is. You know, again, a vague
- 0:47Speaker 1: recollection of the name Burlison. It's not the West Wing,
- 0:51Speaker 1: it's not a huge office complex. Shapiro, he wasn't there
- 0:54Speaker 1: at the time, as he just testified, mister Burlson, mister Middleton,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and so on, your knowledge in your relationship with the Clintons.
- 1:01Speaker 1: The name never came up. Band, I didn't say the
- 1:04Speaker 1: name never came up. I just said, I don't remember
- 1:07Speaker 1: who that is or recall who that was, mister Burlison,
- 1:10Speaker 1: thank you. I don't have any other questions. Mister Harnice
- 1:13Speaker 1: is once again asking the questions question mister band. In
- 1:17Speaker 1: two thousand and five, police in Palm Beach, Florida, began
- 1:20Speaker 1: investigating mister Epstein. In July of two thousand and six,
- 1:24Speaker 1: mister Epstein was arrested for the first time for soliciting
- 1:27Speaker 1: prostitution from minors. When did you first learn of Jeffrey
- 1:31Speaker 1: Epstein's two thousand and six arrest Answer, I don't recall
- 1:35Speaker 1: when I first learned of it. Question do you know
- 1:38Speaker 1: how you might have first learned about this through the
- 1:41Speaker 1: news reporting? Answer? I don't want to speculate because I
- 1:43Speaker 1: don't remember, but I assume through news reporting. But I
- 1:47Speaker 1: don't remember anything specific about learning of it, mister Grant,
- 1:51Speaker 1: And you would have learned of it at the time
- 1:53Speaker 1: or somewhere around the time, band, I don't know, but yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: I believe it was probably reading news reports. Yes. Question
- 2:01Speaker 1: and when did you become aware that mister Epstein served
- 2:03Speaker 1: jail time beginning in two thousand and eight. Answer, I
- 2:06Speaker 1: don't recall when I became aware of that. Again, I
- 2:09Speaker 1: didn't really have a relationship with him. Question, but you
- 2:13Speaker 1: did become aware of his arrest in jail time? Answer
- 2:16Speaker 1: I remember being aware of it. I don't recall when
- 2:19Speaker 1: I became aware of it. Did you ever discuss the
- 2:22Speaker 1: arrest or jail time with mister Epstein with anyone at
- 2:25Speaker 1: the time? Answer not that I recall, grant. Do you
- 2:29Speaker 1: know who would have made you aware of his arrest
- 2:31Speaker 1: and subsequent time incarcerated? Ban as I said, No, I
- 2:35Speaker 1: just don't remember when who anything. Question. After learning about
- 2:40Speaker 1: the initial arrest of mister Epstein, did you have any
- 2:42Speaker 1: concerns about this? Answer? I don't recall having concerns or
- 2:46Speaker 1: not concerns. He wasn't someone that I knew or engaged
- 2:49Speaker 1: with frequently. And again I don't remember whether he was
- 2:52Speaker 1: part of a friend of President Clinton or not at
- 2:55Speaker 1: that point. But no, I don't remember having any. Question
- 2:58Speaker 1: but you and respectively President Clinton did have a relationship
- 3:02Speaker 1: with them when you learned about this. I'm just asking
- 3:05Speaker 1: if you were concerned at all about your relationship and
- 3:08Speaker 1: then now this arrest. Did you have any concerns at
- 3:11Speaker 1: that time about this? Answer? Well, as I said, as
- 3:15Speaker 1: it relates to me, I had very limited relationship with them.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I don't remember having concerns or not having concerns. Question
- 3:22Speaker 1: when did you find out about the two thousand and
- 3:24Speaker 1: eight non prosecution agreement with mister Epstein? Answer I don't remember.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I have no idea. I don't recall when I learned
- 3:30Speaker 1: of it. Question what was your understanding of what mister
- 3:33Speaker 1: Epstein had admitted to or been convicted of? Answer I
- 3:37Speaker 1: don't remember or recall what he admitted to or had
- 3:39Speaker 1: been convicted of. Question and when did you become aware
- 3:43Speaker 1: of mister Epstein's status as a sex offender? Answer I
- 3:46Speaker 1: don't remember when. Question mister Bant, have you ever been
- 3:50Speaker 1: contacted by law enforcement entity in regard to mister Epstein
- 3:53Speaker 1: or Miss Maxwell? Answer no question with the benefit of hindsight,
- 3:58Speaker 1: were there things that you witnessed or herved about mister
- 4:00Speaker 1: Epstein or Miss Maxwell that could have suggested they were
- 4:04Speaker 1: trafficking and sexually abusing young women or girls? Answer no question.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Did mister Epstein or Miss Maxwell ever attempt to blackmail you?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Answer no question? Did they ever try to threaten you.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Answer no, question, so they did not threaten to expose
- 4:19Speaker 1: any personal information that you may have had. Answer no. Question.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Do you think that miss Maxwell was using you in
- 4:26Speaker 1: order to get closer to President Clinton or any other
- 4:29Speaker 1: member of the Clinton family? Answer I have no idea,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I don't know. Question looking back now, do you have
- 4:35Speaker 1: any concerns that you thought miss Maxwell may have been
- 4:38Speaker 1: trying to use your relationship with the Clintons in order
- 4:41Speaker 1: to get closer to the family. Answer as I've said,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I don't know. You'd have to ask her. I mean,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't know. Question why do you think miss Maxwell
- 4:48Speaker 1: wanted to get close to you, wanted to build a
- 4:50Speaker 1: relationship with you? Answer I have no idea. Question in emails,
- 4:55Speaker 1: a lot of which we have discussed and looked at today,
- 4:58Speaker 1: seems that Miss Maxwell always wanted to do something or
- 5:01Speaker 1: provide something for you. Do you know why this was?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Answer no, I don't. Question do you think it was
- 5:08Speaker 1: just our attempt to get close to a powerful connected people.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Answer you know, As I said, I don't know. I
- 5:13Speaker 1: guess it's possible. Sure. Question. Throughout the investigation, it seems
- 5:17Speaker 1: that mister Epstein and miss Maxwell would try to exert
- 5:21Speaker 1: knowledge of people's personal information in order to curry favor
- 5:24Speaker 1: with powerful figures across the globe. Looking back, were there
- 5:28Speaker 1: any signs that miss Maxwell or mister Epstein used your
- 5:32Speaker 1: relationship in order to curry favor with powerful figures that
- 5:35Speaker 1: you knew? Answer no question. I just want to jump
- 5:39Speaker 1: back to the two thousand and two Africa trip. It's
- 5:42Speaker 1: reported that Redacted gave President Clinton a next massage. Do
- 5:45Speaker 1: you recall this? Answer? No, I do not. Question. So
- 5:49Speaker 1: you had no knowledge at the time of President Clinton
- 5:52Speaker 1: receiving a massage from redacted? Answer no question. Have you
- 5:57Speaker 1: ever seen the photo of redacted providing President Clinton the massage? Answer?
- 6:01Speaker 1: I've seen the photo as it came out recently. We're
- 6:03Speaker 1: in the last year or two. Question outside of preparation
- 6:07Speaker 1: for this interview. When was the last time you saw
- 6:09Speaker 1: the photo? Answer when it became public. Question And you
- 6:13Speaker 1: did not receive any massage on this trip in two
- 6:15Speaker 1: thousand and two? Answer? I didn't receive any massage on
- 6:18Speaker 1: this trip forever mace. So you've never received a massage
- 6:21Speaker 1: before ever in your life? Band I've had one massage.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It was a couple's massage with my wife that I recall.
- 6:27Speaker 1: That's it, Mace. Were you familiar with any of the
- 6:31Speaker 1: massage therapists that were hired or used to travel with
- 6:34Speaker 1: or hung out with Glenn Maxwell or Jeffrey Epstein mister
- 6:37Speaker 1: band No, ma'am, mister Harneice asking the questions now. Question,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I know that I've asked you about the Vanity Fair
- 6:45Speaker 1: article where it stated that you had bad vibes from
- 6:47Speaker 1: the trip. Was Ron Berkele on the trip to Africa? Answer?
- 6:50Speaker 1: No question? Was he not on this trip? Answer not
- 6:53Speaker 1: that I recall no question. We have flight logs showing
- 6:57Speaker 1: that mister Berkele was on that two thousand and two
- 6:59Speaker 1: trip to Africa. Did you not interrupt interact with mister Burkele. Answer,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I just don't. As I said earlier, I don't recall
- 7:06Speaker 1: the trip. I don't recall him being there. Question, mister
- 7:09Speaker 1: Burkele had a pretty bad experience. He caught a pretty
- 7:12Speaker 1: bad vibe as well as you call it, or as
- 7:15Speaker 1: you stated to Vanity Fair. But you have no knowledge
- 7:17Speaker 1: mister Burkele ever having a creepy or odd feeling about
- 7:20Speaker 1: mister Epstein. Answer not that I recall. No. Mister Grant,
- 7:25Speaker 1: did you discuss mister Epstein with mister Burkele at any point,
- 7:28Speaker 1: mister Band, No, not that I don't recall discussing it
- 7:32Speaker 1: with him. Possible, but I don't remember it. Grant, and
- 7:35Speaker 1: same question for Miss Maxwell. Did you discuss Miss Maxwell
- 7:38Speaker 1: with mister Burkele at any point? Mister Band Again, as possible,
- 7:42Speaker 1: but I don't recall discussing it. No, mister Harness. Question
- 7:47Speaker 1: jumping around, did miss Maxwell ever offer to lend you
- 7:50Speaker 1: a private plane or any private aircraft that she owned
- 7:54Speaker 1: for you to watch the two thousand and six NCUBA
- 7:57Speaker 1: Men's basketball Finals. Answer? I don't remember the specifics of that.
- 8:02Speaker 1: In preparation for today, I recall reading the email where
- 8:05Speaker 1: there was back and forth and I was asking her
- 8:07Speaker 1: to chart her a plane, and she offered again, as
- 8:10Speaker 1: best as I can recall without looking at the email,
- 8:12Speaker 1: and I said something to the effect that if I
- 8:14Speaker 1: can't pay for it, then I'm not going to take it,
- 8:17Speaker 1: which I didn't question. So you declined miss Maxwell's offer? Answer?
- 8:21Speaker 1: Based on those emails that I've read in preparation for today, Yes,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I declined her offer and I did not take the plane.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Question why do you think miss Maxwell offered you this plane. Answer,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I don't know. You'd have to ask miss Maxwell Emmer.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Did you recall receiving any other offers to fly on
- 8:37Speaker 1: mister Epstein's plane? And again, it's possible, but I don't
- 8:41Speaker 1: recall any. No question. Did you have any role in
- 8:45Speaker 1: the White House Historical Association during your time in the
- 8:48Speaker 1: Clinton administration? Answer no, I don't believe so. Question So
- 8:53Speaker 1: you did not attend any White House Historical Association events? Answer?
- 8:57Speaker 1: I wouldn't have attended any on my own or been
- 8:59Speaker 1: part of that. I'm on my own. I was a staffer.
- 9:02Speaker 1: If President Clinton went to something and I accompanied him,
- 9:05Speaker 1: staffing him, then I guess it's possible, but I don't
- 9:08Speaker 1: recall anything or having any involvement with them whatsoever. I
- 9:13Speaker 1: don't even know where they are housed or operate or anything.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Question were you aware of mister Epstein's ten thousand dollars
- 9:19Speaker 1: donation to the White House Historical Association? Answer? No. Question
- 9:25Speaker 1: Touching a little bit on the Clinton Global Initiative, when
- 9:28Speaker 1: did you cease employment at the Clinton Global Initiative? Answer well,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I never worked for the Clinton Global Initiative. I worked
- 9:35Speaker 1: for President Clinton in his personal office. The Clinton Global
- 9:38Speaker 1: Initiative was one of the things, and as I said,
- 9:41Speaker 1: my best recollection is that I left in the first
- 9:43Speaker 1: half of twenty twelve. Question twenty twelve, So how many
- 9:48Speaker 1: Clinton Global Initiative conferences would you say that you attended
- 9:51Speaker 1: during this time of work? Answer? You know, I don't
- 9:54Speaker 1: remember all of them. I guess if it started in
- 9:57Speaker 1: two thousand and five and then ended in twenty twelve,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I went to all of those, and it's possible I
- 10:02Speaker 1: went after mister Shapiro. You left in twenty twelve. BAND
- 10:06Speaker 1: left entirely, mister Shapiro. It didn't end, mister Band correct, Sorry,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I left in twenty twelve. CGI kept going. I may
- 10:13Speaker 1: have attended one or two afterward. I don't really remember.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I believe my colleague in the previous hour touched upon
- 10:20Speaker 1: Miss Maxwell's involvement with CGI and the Clinton Foundation. Is
- 10:25Speaker 1: that correct? Did you take part in any budget discussion
- 10:28Speaker 1: with Miss Maxwell regarding the Clinton Foundation or CGI? Answered no,
- 10:33Speaker 1: not that I recall. Question are you aware of any
- 10:35Speaker 1: donation made to the Clinton Foundation or CGI from Miss
- 10:39Speaker 1: Maxwell or mister Epstein? Answer you know again, I wasn't
- 10:43Speaker 1: aware of it at the time, but in preparation today
- 10:46Speaker 1: having seen the emails, it seems as though she was.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I don't recall having anything to do with her being
- 10:51Speaker 1: a part of it at all. Question. Did miss Maxwell
- 10:54Speaker 1: ever have a close relationship with anybody else inside the
- 10:57Speaker 1: Clinton Foundation or the Clinton Global Initiative, mister Shapiro, other
- 11:01Speaker 1: than mister band You mean mister Harneice, other than mister
- 11:04Speaker 1: band Doug Band, I don't know. I mean she could
- 11:07Speaker 1: have had relationships with lots of people. I don't know. Question, So,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you never had a conversation with other Clinton Foundation staffers,
- 11:16Speaker 1: anybody working at CGI about Miss Maxwell. Mister Band, I
- 11:20Speaker 1: don't recall having conversations. It's certainly possible. I just don't
- 11:23Speaker 1: recall having them. Question So, mister Band, I just want
- 11:28Speaker 1: to make sure I have the timeline that's clearer for
- 11:30Speaker 1: the record. I believe in your opening statement you mentioned
- 11:33Speaker 1: you sent a memo or a notice throughout the Clinton
- 11:36Speaker 1: world basically to cease their connections with Miss Maxwell. Is
- 11:39Speaker 1: that correct? Answer? I sent the email to senior members
- 11:42Speaker 1: of the staff to remover from all contact lists, which
- 11:46Speaker 1: was an attempt to remover from President Clinton's world entirely. Yes, question,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and that was in twenty eleven. Answer yes, sir. Question
- 11:54Speaker 1: and then you subsequently stopped working for President Clinton by
- 11:57Speaker 1: extension of that the foundation and see in twenty twelve
- 12:01Speaker 1: you said, Answer sometime in twenty twelve. Again, just to
- 12:05Speaker 1: be clear, I never worked for CGI. Question understood, And
- 12:09Speaker 1: are you aware that miss Maxwell attended a CGI event
- 12:12Speaker 1: and was honored in twenty thirteen. Answer? I'm only aware
- 12:16Speaker 1: of it as it relates to having seen the reporting
- 12:18Speaker 1: on it at some point in the past few years.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Question You were not aware of that in twenty thirteen.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Answer I did not work there. In twenty thirteen, question
- 12:28Speaker 1: you didn't keep up with CGI and the work that
- 12:30Speaker 1: you would help start. Answer no. Question does this concern
- 12:35Speaker 1: you now looking back, that she was able to recognize
- 12:37Speaker 1: or be recognized at a CGI event in twenty thirteen
- 12:41Speaker 1: after you had tried to remove her from the Clinton orbit?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Answer well, again, all I can tell you is that
- 12:46Speaker 1: I took the step to write an email to have
- 12:48Speaker 1: her removed from all the lists and therefore removed from
- 12:50Speaker 1: the Clinton world. What happened after that is not I
- 12:53Speaker 1: didn't have anything to do with it, so I don't know.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Question understood, But I mean it's a big step to
- 12:59Speaker 1: take to remove somebody from the Clinton orbit and have
- 13:02Speaker 1: them not be involved anymore. This was work that I
- 13:04Speaker 1: would say you were intimately involved with. So knowing that
- 13:08Speaker 1: what you know now looking back that she was honored
- 13:10Speaker 1: in twenty thirteen, is that not disturbing to you? Answer?
- 13:14Speaker 1: You know, again, all of their activities are incredibly disturbing
- 13:17Speaker 1: and horrific and evil to me. But I again, I
- 13:19Speaker 1: left in twenty twelve, so her involvement in what was
- 13:22Speaker 1: going on then and what decisions they made I wasn't
- 13:26Speaker 1: part of. I didn't have anything to do with it.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So I really don't know. Mister Shapiro. Just for the
- 13:32Speaker 1: clarity of the record, I think you used they and
- 13:34Speaker 1: there in two different ways. All of their behavior was evil.
- 13:38Speaker 1: There in the sentence was band Epstein and Maxwell Shapiro. Okay, Band, sorry,
- 13:44Speaker 1: thank you. Counselor question, do you have any knowledge of
- 13:48Speaker 1: miss Maxwell or mister Epstein ever sending a gift to
- 13:51Speaker 1: President Clinton? Answer? I don't have any knowledge or recall
- 13:54Speaker 1: them ever doing that. Again, it's possible, I just don't remember,
- 13:57Speaker 1: all right. So if we're gonna wrap up right here
- 13:59Speaker 1: and the next episode dealing with the topic, we're gonna
- 14:02Speaker 1: pick up where we left off. All the information that
- 14:04Speaker 1: goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
