- 0:00Speaker 1: Yo, what up? This is the boy Dame representing Play
- 0:02Speaker 1: too Much CMG. Hey, man, check me out on Bootleg
- 0:06Speaker 1: cav podcast. Yep, it's the Bootlet CAV Show Special guests
- 0:13Speaker 1: in here from the Bay. My guy, I finally made it, Dame,
- 0:18Speaker 1: the boy Dame is here, man, I made it. People
- 0:21Speaker 1: who don't know, Uh, what do you do? Because I
- 0:24Speaker 1: feel like you DJ, you A and R and you're
- 0:27Speaker 1: putting out records. What do you got a record label? Yeah? Man,
- 0:31Speaker 1: my my employment title is I'm the I'm the head
- 0:33Speaker 1: an R over at CMG with Gotti right for my
- 0:38Speaker 1: own stuff. Man, I got my own label, Play too Much,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and I'm an artist over at Devon. So how did
- 0:47Speaker 1: you start off in the band, because you obviously have
- 0:49Speaker 1: roots in the Bay and from what I understand, the
- 0:51Speaker 1: Yogotti shit popped off because you put them on the
- 0:54Speaker 1: plow ship right. Yeah. Yeah, that was my first an
- 0:56Speaker 1: R record. Man. I started as an intern like with
- 1:00Speaker 1: you we go miss shout out to Chewy the legend,
- 1:02Speaker 1: that's my legend, like my big homie Chewy. And then
- 1:05Speaker 1: from being at the station running around with Vine and
- 1:08Speaker 1: my emotion, then they talked. They forced me out of
- 1:12Speaker 1: DJ you know what I'm saying. I used to just
- 1:13Speaker 1: kind of play around on people stuff after the shows.
- 1:17Speaker 1: My emotion was like, bro, don't disrespect our culture like that,
- 1:19Speaker 1: like go practice how to blend and match the VPM
- 1:23Speaker 1: and stuff like that. So just getting into that, and
- 1:26Speaker 1: I started picking out local records that end up becoming
- 1:28Speaker 1: something in the Bay. So I guess they started believing
- 1:31Speaker 1: in my musical talent or records. Rod I can't stand
- 1:35Speaker 1: you the R and B record and I was picking
- 1:39Speaker 1: a bunch of B side records like plies, I'm really
- 1:42Speaker 1: from the hood. Uh, just that type of stuff to
- 1:44Speaker 1: where Vine and then was like he kind of know
- 1:47Speaker 1: what he talking about. They ain't give me the food,
- 1:49Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, And uh, I realized Radio man,
- 1:52Speaker 1: them dudes, it's like it's only four spots, you know
- 1:55Speaker 1: what I'm Yeah, So I knew they was making a
- 1:58Speaker 1: lot of money. I knew them dudes wasn't about to
- 2:00Speaker 1: quit or retiring tho time soon. So I had to
- 2:03Speaker 1: make a transition. And I was also like the little
- 2:06Speaker 1: go get it dude at the station, like go get
- 2:09Speaker 1: some coffee, other go get it, like street go get it,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Like we need some bitches. We artists, and yeah, we
- 2:16Speaker 1: needed something to hold us down, that type of stuff.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So I was building that relationship with a bunch of
- 2:20Speaker 1: the artists and gott he was one of the artists
- 2:24Speaker 1: that I went to build a relationship with. I don't
- 2:28Speaker 1: know he took a liking be men. His cousin took
- 2:30Speaker 1: a liking it to me. They invited me to the studio.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Radio was already like dying out for me, and uh ship,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I was in Oakland. They hit me up, sent me
- 2:38Speaker 1: the address, but the studios in Burbank. You know, everybody
- 2:42Speaker 1: think California is close. It's crazy. Yeah, so I'm like,
- 2:46Speaker 1: fuck it. I just got in the car and drove
- 2:48Speaker 1: out here. Then I went to the studio, had to
- 2:51Speaker 1: go walk through a bunch of Memphis niggas, and you know,
- 2:54Speaker 1: they was like, play some beats, and it's when the
- 2:56Speaker 1: mustard was cracking, right, I'm different was out everybody one
- 3:01Speaker 1: of them. Yeah yeah, and uh so I started playing
- 3:04Speaker 1: a bunch of beats. But Bro was like he kind
- 3:06Speaker 1: of was like he wasn't feeling them. He's like, man,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you got one more record. And then I called Pelow.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I'm like, please send me a beat. And it ended
- 3:13Speaker 1: up being act right. Well, it's a little joke though.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I think he was kind of dissing this though still
- 3:19Speaker 1: because he said, I'm going going back to the bay, recip.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I think he was sending me back to the bay
- 3:24Speaker 1: like you're catching as like sending us back to the bay.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But he said it in the whole room, was like,
- 3:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, like A and RS in there.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I don't even know what the an R was. Back
- 3:32Speaker 1: then they all went crazy for it. So what is that?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Like you said you didn't know what the an R was,
- 3:40Speaker 1: a lot of people don't know what an R was.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It is the easiest way to lie and say you're
- 3:43Speaker 1: in the industry. That sounds about right, But what exactly
- 3:46Speaker 1: does an an R do? Like what is like what
- 3:49Speaker 1: is the title entail in twenty twenty two? Well, staying
- 3:52Speaker 1: for artists and repertoire and uh, it's different A and
- 3:57Speaker 1: RS though you got your lifestyle A and RS. What's
- 3:59Speaker 1: that me? Those are people are gonna make sure you
- 4:02Speaker 1: at all the right parties, they can get them pictures.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They're gonna make you look like a sounds like a
- 4:06Speaker 1: publicist to me. It could be you know that's an
- 4:08Speaker 1: A and R. You got your creatives who like in
- 4:12Speaker 1: the studio, picking the beat, helping you with the song,
- 4:16Speaker 1: getting the feature for you. That's what I'm more on,
- 4:19Speaker 1: the creative an R. And then you got your ad
- 4:21Speaker 1: man's making sure you following that budget, know how to
- 4:25Speaker 1: close out your album and all that stuff. So so
- 4:27Speaker 1: like if you need to get like a side agreement
- 4:30Speaker 1: with an artist that hopped on some ship or yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 1: they making sure the producer agreement is done, credits and
- 4:35Speaker 1: the lyrics. Yeah. Yeah, So it's a few different ones,
- 4:38Speaker 1: but there's a few different Those are ones who actually
- 4:41Speaker 1: get salaries. Yeah. Now the ones where people be hustling,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know, they're full of ship. Yeah yeah, yeah, it's
- 4:47Speaker 1: the easiest job to lie about through the homies. You
- 4:52Speaker 1: just entourage. I think that some perception of what an
- 4:56Speaker 1: an R is that maybe inaccurate, is a liaison to
- 5:04Speaker 1: get artists signed to a major label. Like if you're
- 5:07Speaker 1: in A and R somewhere, you got the power to
- 5:09Speaker 1: sign somebody. I mean, if you had a real job,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you do okay, if you get it, if you had
- 5:14Speaker 1: a real like you know, I was at Motown before
- 5:17Speaker 1: I'm at CMG. Now, so like I signed artists. I
- 5:22Speaker 1: guess it's how much power you got at the label.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But that's your job to help find or sign someone
- 5:27Speaker 1: to c MG. Yeah. I just did the Mazi deal. Oh,
- 5:30Speaker 1: shout out to MOSEI. Yeah, MII my boy so free Mazi. Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 1: By the way, shout out to Dave and his team
- 5:36Speaker 1: because his instagram is like you never went crack. I
- 5:39Speaker 1: just saw he did a fucking promo plug for the
- 5:42Speaker 1: past company. I said, oh, they was working, but you
- 5:46Speaker 1: know I did Mazi. I brought a few people to
- 5:48Speaker 1: CMG that just didn't work out, but they still are
- 5:51Speaker 1: people any other West Coast folks. Uh brought ke Maaya
- 5:55Speaker 1: early really yeah yeah yeah, pre pre four hundred, yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 1: pre four hundred. This was I was probably like one
- 6:01Speaker 1: of the people early people at the crib for the
- 6:05Speaker 1: for the How does it feel? You know what I'm saying,
- 6:07Speaker 1: Like we broke super slept On. She's incredible, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 1: she wanted the dopeest. I brought Days Loaf early. Wow,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I'm talking about twelve hundred followers. Somehow, she's like one
- 6:17Speaker 1: of the most influential female rappers. Now when you hear
- 6:19Speaker 1: all these when you hear all these new girls, I'm like, damn,
- 6:21Speaker 1: this sounds like a fake as day Loaf is my
- 6:24Speaker 1: heart thought. I talked to Loaf all the time, So yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: she's dope. She should be back at it soon. Who
- 6:29Speaker 1: else we brought over there? You know, me and God.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He got this thing when people get hot, we check
- 6:33Speaker 1: our dms to see if they hit us got you
- 6:36Speaker 1: The majority of the times like they reached out, They
- 6:39Speaker 1: reached out. We might have just missed it or just
- 6:42Speaker 1: like we had the convo but it didn't turn into
- 6:45Speaker 1: nothing right right? Well, God, he's also doing these deals
- 6:47Speaker 1: where he's just like fucking on Instagram handing some of
- 6:50Speaker 1: like a million dollars got a different time, Christ, Yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I want to know it's all that cash recoupable? That's yo, Gotti.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Question that like I just handed you three hundred thousand
- 7:04Speaker 1: dollars in cash, not not a wire, not a check.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Does this go over? Is this part of our ballance?
- 7:12Speaker 1: But you know, if Bro believe in you, he all
- 7:15Speaker 1: that stuff handled later, right Like I had the time?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Got he doing stuff with people before they even signed
- 7:20Speaker 1: So yeah, no, I mean I know, like the last
- 7:22Speaker 1: time I was in the studio with him, he just
- 7:24Speaker 1: had like a SoundCloud playlist. He was just new ship.
- 7:27Speaker 1: He was fucking like undiscovered people. Yeah nah, he owned it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Man our our A and R team is it ain't big,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but it's it's we We solidified like it's me CMG
- 7:37Speaker 1: Breezy CMGB. And then even like little Bella over an interscope,
- 7:43Speaker 1: like our little sit, she'd be on her ship too,
- 7:46Speaker 1: uh for you like uh obviously being a West Coast
- 7:50Speaker 1: guy coming into such a dope position, a prominent position
- 7:53Speaker 1: with us. I guess the Southern label if you would
- 7:56Speaker 1: call it, how important you think that is, because I
- 7:59Speaker 1: do feel like at times, really especially the Bay, the
- 8:03Speaker 1: Bay's like its own world, and sometimes it's hard to
- 8:07Speaker 1: be an artist from the Bay and penetrate the rest
- 8:10Speaker 1: of the country. Yeah, people will take the Bay sound
- 8:13Speaker 1: and make it that, make it national, you know, make
- 8:15Speaker 1: it big, you know. But in terms of like just
- 8:19Speaker 1: artists in the Bay area that you know, obviously, it
- 8:24Speaker 1: feels like sometimes the ceiling is is not as high
- 8:27Speaker 1: as if someone's from Memphis or someone's from Atlanta, you
- 8:29Speaker 1: know what I mean. But now that that you have
- 8:32Speaker 1: very representation and one of the hardest, you know, crews
- 8:35Speaker 1: in the game, I mean for the Bay. You know
- 8:37Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, sometimes it's just the artist that
- 8:41Speaker 1: we probably champion as not on because we got national artists.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah you got kaelin gz Go. Yeah, he's got what
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, people making it. I just think it's the
- 8:51Speaker 1: ones we champion not making it because we've seen them
- 8:54Speaker 1: like grow. You know what I'm saying. I think like
- 8:56Speaker 1: with your twenty four K, like it might look like
- 8:59Speaker 1: he just popped out, but like I hosted the Talent
- 9:00Speaker 1: Show with him, I didn't even pick him in the
- 9:02Speaker 1: Talent Show. They told me. Wow. You know what I'm saying.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I wish I did because I probably would have been
- 9:06Speaker 1: locked in with him. But you know, it's different artists
- 9:09Speaker 1: who like we just seen them work a lot, you
- 9:13Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like simb but we've seen something.
- 9:14Speaker 1: He was probably like our first bait when we did
- 9:16Speaker 1: the Bear your freshman list, I think he was on
- 9:19Speaker 1: that list, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, sim has
- 9:21Speaker 1: been acting for a very long Yeah. So I think
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's just you know, sometimes it's not the ones that
- 9:26Speaker 1: we all picked that actually get the shot. But you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: people who work hard, like symbol, like they still get
- 9:32Speaker 1: their shot and they got the support from the crib.
- 9:34Speaker 1: That's what I say. I said, like a lot of
- 9:37Speaker 1: times people use that excuse, like lack of support from
- 9:40Speaker 1: where they're from, as like an excuse why they're not bigger,
- 9:45Speaker 1: as opposed to just looking in the mirror and saying
- 9:47Speaker 1: I got to get to work, I gotta work harder. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: that's the biggest It's always a reason, like I don't
- 9:51Speaker 1: got no like issues outside at the crib, like when
- 9:54Speaker 1: on some outside shit street shit. My only issues come
- 9:58Speaker 1: from artists who all who like it's my fault, it's
- 10:01Speaker 1: your fault, Like, yo, why didn't you sign me bro? Right?
- 10:03Speaker 1: That shit's crazy? That's the only big idea. Yeah, yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 1: what inspired you to start dropping records? I kind of wanted.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I wanted my credit for some stuff that I was doing.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And you know, when you're behind the scenes, like ain't
- 10:17Speaker 1: too many people reading credits on albums on Spotify, right,
- 10:22Speaker 1: and like when you like on some NR shit like
- 10:24Speaker 1: only like industry people may know, like you might look
- 10:27Speaker 1: like you're not doing ship to the world, right, So
- 10:30Speaker 1: like I figured, like man I started doing some records,
- 10:34Speaker 1: it made people start being like damn, that's bro who
- 10:36Speaker 1: did this or that's who you know what I'm saying.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I use it as my resume technically, And then when
- 10:42Speaker 1: I looked up, I had like twelve thirteen records with
- 10:44Speaker 1: some of the hottest people. So gott he encouraged me, like, bro,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you should start putting out some records. Yeah why not? Yeah?
- 10:50Speaker 1: So you were just putt because you had put together
- 10:52Speaker 1: another record. Uh two or three years ago that was
- 10:55Speaker 1: like g was on it. Who oh yeah days they
- 11:00Speaker 1: Love God in GZ. Yeah that was when I was
- 11:02Speaker 1: at Motown. Okay, okay, yeah yeah yeah yeah. So this
- 11:04Speaker 1: is like your second go round with this, Yeah, this
- 11:06Speaker 1: is my second deal. What happened? How did you get?
- 11:09Speaker 1: Like with obviously shout out to Death Jam Death Jam
- 11:11Speaker 1: doesn't have the craziest, like huge roster. It seems like
- 11:14Speaker 1: it's a very small roster. You know, take a big sean,
- 11:17Speaker 1: a white g. Yeah, I'm forgetting a bunch of We
- 11:21Speaker 1: got some big But in terms of like you linking
- 11:24Speaker 1: up with them, what was what was there? Like, Like
- 11:26Speaker 1: how was that process? Uh? So I was fresh out
- 11:30Speaker 1: of my deal with Motown, right and man, I kind
- 11:35Speaker 1: of was trying to figure out like we was ready
- 11:37Speaker 1: to go at Motown like the songs, was ready to
- 11:39Speaker 1: go the features like, and then it just got shut down.
- 11:43Speaker 1: So I just went back to A and R Heavy
- 11:45Speaker 1: with Gotti and one of my boys, Halleen A and
- 11:50Speaker 1: R already Death Jam. We probably talk every day anyway,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and he was like, Broll, you got too many records,
- 11:55Speaker 1: like I'm over here at death Jam like they need. Yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 1: you represent the street like you're music is on some
- 12:00Speaker 1: street shit like Bedjam is still a street label. So
- 12:05Speaker 1: he was like, let's see if we could do something,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and TUNGEI and all them was heading over there. So
- 12:10Speaker 1: it worked out. It panned out. We got to stop
- 12:12Speaker 1: the interview real quick to tell you about our folks
- 12:14Speaker 1: at my bookie ladies and gentlemen. Motherfucking NFL season is approaching.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's my favorite time of the year, goddamn it. Good
- 12:21Speaker 1: times and the Rams versus the Bills is happening, kicking
- 12:25Speaker 1: off the whole regular season, and there's no way to
- 12:28Speaker 1: get ready for that regular season, like getting ready for

- 13:38Speaker 1: go run it up. Let's get back to the interview.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Let me ask you this. When you go to Motown
- 13:42Speaker 1: and it doesn't pan out and you have all these records,
- 13:44Speaker 1: can you take them with you? Yeah? Continue? Payful? Okay,
- 13:49Speaker 1: do that? Like you know what I'm saying, Like I
- 13:51Speaker 1: never had to turn them in because we never got there.
- 13:53Speaker 1: It's crazy because Motown I feel like mishandled like Ice
- 13:56Speaker 1: wor Vezo so crazy. And now he's with well, he's
- 13:59Speaker 1: gonna be back. I signed Viso that was my first
- 14:02Speaker 1: artist of Motown. Oh really yeah, but that's dope to see.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I don't know what his QC deals. Like QC's over
- 14:10Speaker 1: there in the same building. It's gonna be funny that,
- 14:13Speaker 1: Like now you're working with the same people. But I
- 14:15Speaker 1: think they got to run it back again. Yeah he
- 14:19Speaker 1: did what he again? Zo. I was like some people,
- 14:21Speaker 1: I feel like a major label holds him back. Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 1: So like with VEZ when I first went to Motown,
- 14:27Speaker 1: I was like, okay, y'all Detroit label, I mean still
- 14:30Speaker 1: motowns from Detroit. I'm like, yeah, ain't well, he ain't
- 14:33Speaker 1: got no rappers, you know, being Oakland in Detroit, Like
- 14:36Speaker 1: I know, they cracking, Yeah, Detroit, and they kind of
- 14:39Speaker 1: wasn't familiar. I'm like, Veso was just coming home, which
- 14:41Speaker 1: is like the best promo you can ever have, its
- 14:44Speaker 1: coming home from jail, unfortunately. But now Ethiopie was like,
- 14:49Speaker 1: go get them. You know what I'm saying. I'm like, yo,
- 14:51Speaker 1: they about to go up. This was before Doug, you
- 14:54Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I think right at that moment,
- 14:56Speaker 1: it's like twenty eighteen, nineteen eighteen. Yeah, yep. So he
- 15:00Speaker 1: came on from jail, signed him out the Halfway House.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It was an experience for both of them. My first label,
- 15:05Speaker 1: his first time being on a major. So I think
- 15:08Speaker 1: we were just still trying to figure it all out
- 15:10Speaker 1: together and you know, a little couple of restraints. But
- 15:15Speaker 1: when he went off on his own, he got cracking
- 15:17Speaker 1: and he went up. Yeah, yeah, they I think it's dope. Though.
- 15:20Speaker 1: When he when he called me about it and he
- 15:22Speaker 1: asked me my opinion, I said, well, you know, the personnel,
- 15:25Speaker 1: like I already to manage it. You already kind of
- 15:28Speaker 1: know the deal over there. So yeah, so now you
- 15:30Speaker 1: got the insight on how you should move. But now
- 15:33Speaker 1: the OPIU support her artists though, so and now got
- 15:36Speaker 1: qc co signed. Yeah know he's hard him and Kode
- 15:40Speaker 1: actually crazy too, super crazy rich Off pines three out
- 15:45Speaker 1: now shout out to my boy Viz. When it comes
- 15:49Speaker 1: to putting out records, everybody's always very like you know,
- 15:54Speaker 1: when we think of a guy like DJ Khaled, Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 1: like does he have to pay for the features? Do
- 15:59Speaker 1: you have to pay an artist to be on a
- 16:01Speaker 1: record or is it more of like I fuck with you,
- 16:04Speaker 1: here's the verse if I don't know them or if
- 16:06Speaker 1: they're not aware of my stuff, of course, like that's
- 16:08Speaker 1: just business. But like my project is damn near CMG
- 16:12Speaker 1: album time like part two? Really yeah, like I'm still CMG.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying. You got everybody on there,
- 16:18Speaker 1: the whole roster on there. Bad Glowrilla is TG gott
- 16:23Speaker 1: he got it, I think gott He on there twice,
- 16:25Speaker 1: Doug on there twice. Yeah, the whole team on there.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So will it have the CMG logo on the back
- 16:30Speaker 1: next to the deaf GM logo or is it just
- 16:32Speaker 1: deaf jam play too much? I'm always conclude CMG like
- 16:36Speaker 1: got the executive producing my album, so I mean, if
- 16:39Speaker 1: he wanted the logo on there, I'm saying CMG on
- 16:41Speaker 1: have the songs anyway, So that's I mean, shit, why not? Yeah?
- 16:45Speaker 1: But features though, now you gotta like my first record
- 16:48Speaker 1: was with Ross and G Right, I got Ross off
- 16:51Speaker 1: of DM, like, I just sent him a DM. He
- 16:54Speaker 1: did the verse, so I took care of him. I
- 16:56Speaker 1: think they still giving me like a crazy discount just
- 16:58Speaker 1: because of my affiliation with though. So you had to pay,
- 17:01Speaker 1: but it wasn't like what everyone else has to pay. Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I ain't paying with what they saying in the songs. Nah. Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I feel like when an artist quotes what they're charging somebody,
- 17:12Speaker 1: that is like if they don't know who the fuck
- 17:15Speaker 1: you are, right right right, and you somehow got the
- 17:17Speaker 1: verse and they know you got a bag. Like if
- 17:20Speaker 1: a K pop by the way, shout out my guy, Gucci, Man,
- 17:22Speaker 1: Gucci got a fucking crazy bag off a K pop
- 17:24Speaker 1: group a few years ago, shout out Spencer. But like,
- 17:26Speaker 1: if it's some shit like that, it's like, oh no, yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 1: let's go high, Let's go high. But for the most part,
- 17:32Speaker 1: it's like it was respectable enough to me to still
- 17:35Speaker 1: shake their hand and have convo and you know what
- 17:38Speaker 1: I'm saying, lock in with them. But I only had
- 17:40Speaker 1: to pay like maybe three artists and I got seventeen songs.
- 17:44Speaker 1: That's great. Yeah, yeah, I worked in my favorite the artist.
- 17:48Speaker 1: You don't pay you, you cut them in a little
- 17:50Speaker 1: more on the side because you know, I still producing
- 17:53Speaker 1: A and R so you know, but like CMG is family,
- 17:56Speaker 1: we don't keep pointing, we don't keep tabs on favors
- 17:58Speaker 1: and stuff like that. So pretty much was good. And
- 18:01Speaker 1: then the rest of them is an artist from the crib,
- 18:03Speaker 1: from off the base on your project. So I got
- 18:07Speaker 1: my artists on there. Uh that I about say Day's
- 18:10Speaker 1: Little Little Pairs. It's a female rapper. She on like
- 18:15Speaker 1: two songs, crazy songs like she on the Cipher song
- 18:18Speaker 1: with Simba forty and Chippers. Oh shit, I think she
- 18:22Speaker 1: could out wrap anybody. So she dope. She got sung
- 18:25Speaker 1: on there with Jack Queeze project Poppa who on my
- 18:28Speaker 1: new single with a guy in Jeezy He on there.
- 18:32Speaker 1: And then I got an R and B singer, Nick k.
- 18:34Speaker 1: She got a song with forty two. You're very I
- 18:37Speaker 1: mean it's dope that you're committed to making sure. Oh yeah, vacation. Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The boy on there, he's hard now he my faan.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I tell him he like ice Q when n w
- 18:47Speaker 1: A broke up, just going crazy. Yeah, just keep going,
- 18:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Who else on it from
- 18:52Speaker 1: the crib. It's a few people, but now the crib
- 18:55Speaker 1: on there, and I just mixed it in with like
- 18:56Speaker 1: some of the legends like Calid and Drama on there
- 19:00Speaker 1: because you know clearly right of course they the foundation
- 19:03Speaker 1: of what I'm really is DJ Clue, but Clue me
- 19:08Speaker 1: is not the guy and and call it like the
- 19:12Speaker 1: jay Z of this music. I remember the first motherfucker's
- 19:15Speaker 1: dropping albums was Clue and Flex Flex had. I was
- 19:18Speaker 1: like a young I was like a kidd, Flex had
- 19:20Speaker 1: some crazy ship. Clue had the professional Yeah, crazy shit
- 19:24Speaker 1: like Clue record is the jay Z and Mara one
- 19:26Speaker 1: technically right, I think that was on the Professional too. Yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I knew who they was, but I'm saying like, no, no, no,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I mean listen, Klate and Drama are like I always say,
- 19:35Speaker 1: dramas are great, I mean the most important greatest hip
- 19:38Speaker 1: hop DJ ever. I'm I'm not talking about scratching. I'm
- 19:40Speaker 1: talking about what he means to the culture, what he's contributed.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I mean, this guy just hosted the best Rap album
- 19:47Speaker 1: of the Year that won a Grand Tyler. You know
- 19:49Speaker 1: what I'm saying. He big homie too, Like whenever I
- 19:51Speaker 1: need them to make sure that, like, right, whatever I need,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I got you whatever you need. Are you like talking
- 19:56Speaker 1: ship on the songs? Nah, that's probably for the better.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I kind of learned off them too, though, right, Like
- 20:02Speaker 1: I remember being at the radio and like they used
- 20:05Speaker 1: to sing records without them on it. Yeah, so DJs,
- 20:08Speaker 1: because you know the dj a, yeah, there would be
- 20:10Speaker 1: the no DJ version of mixtape. We ain't gonna promote
- 20:13Speaker 1: just yeah, another DJ like that. So I kind of
- 20:16Speaker 1: learned this from John, Like Little John, I do all
- 20:18Speaker 1: my hooks though, Okay, so you're doing your hooks. Yeah,
- 20:21Speaker 1: so the DJs, you technically still got to play the
- 20:23Speaker 1: record like without me saying it's the War Dame and
- 20:26Speaker 1: all that shit. I might talk some shit about getting
- 20:28Speaker 1: some money, but I ain't. The worst is when you're
- 20:30Speaker 1: in a club and someone plays a song that's the
- 20:33Speaker 1: mixtape version and there's like some others drops all over it,
- 20:37Speaker 1: and I'm like, fuck, man, that's why I really fucked
- 20:39Speaker 1: with Drummer and Cannon. Like I remember being an intern.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think I might have been the first one to
- 20:43Speaker 1: ask them. You know, I got all them, like I
- 20:45Speaker 1: got some of them little Wayne dedication tapes without them
- 20:48Speaker 1: talking on it. Nice yeah, like Cannon used to like
- 20:51Speaker 1: Cannon gave me like you know, yeah, I remember the
- 20:54Speaker 1: blogs used to drop the normal version and then like
- 20:56Speaker 1: three days later the no DJ version, and it'd be
- 20:59Speaker 1: like I got I got a couple of drama records
- 21:02Speaker 1: without drama from the mixtape Air Nice. Yeah, who I
- 21:06Speaker 1: Saw You? And King Vaughan had a discussion about the
- 21:10Speaker 1: best Bay Area rappers ever. Yeah yeah, added, who's your
- 21:16Speaker 1: top five? E forty number one? We could put it
- 21:22Speaker 1: in a quarter period forty number one and me, I
- 21:24Speaker 1: think he's the winner of all winners period definitely too short. Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Number three, I'm gonna go with the Jack of Okay,
- 21:33Speaker 1: that was my big bro. Number four, I'm gonna go
- 21:36Speaker 1: with Fab Fab like Fab is really the mayor of
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oakland by the Bay Area, Like he could go anywhere,
- 21:43Speaker 1: people respect him and and he got some records that's classics.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Number five keep the sneak kick. Yeah, I'm gonna go
- 21:53Speaker 1: keep I respect it. No mac Dre, Now, I'm a
- 21:57Speaker 1: drake that if people always Valo, I love Vale, they
- 22:00Speaker 1: get on my ass about this all the time. I
- 22:02Speaker 1: always say to my friends who are from the Bay,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I think mac Dre's overrated. No, no, no no, I'm never
- 22:08Speaker 1: gonna say that. I said, shout out to Quilo and
- 22:10Speaker 1: no none of my people, no, no, no no no, from
- 22:14Speaker 1: somebody who did not live in the Bay. And and
- 22:16Speaker 1: and the music was not important to me like it
- 22:18Speaker 1: is to everybody else. Obviously feeling myself, and there's records
- 22:21Speaker 1: that are I get it. But in terms of like
- 22:24Speaker 1: the way y'all hold mac Dre up there, we hold
- 22:27Speaker 1: him up there being somebody who's not from there, I'm
- 22:30Speaker 1: just like all right. So, so the thing with Dre
- 22:34Speaker 1: is he had his core fans, right, which was like
- 22:39Speaker 1: everyday people, right. It necessarily wasn't in like the blackest times,
- 22:46Speaker 1: if I could say that, Like it was more like
- 22:49Speaker 1: latinos and white people like shows. He always had the
- 22:53Speaker 1: crazy fucking artwork and yeah, yeah, like those was like
- 22:56Speaker 1: popping thigs and ship like that was that ship, you know,
- 22:59Speaker 1: black people kind of Iffy on drugs at first, So
- 23:03Speaker 1: the side shows and all that that's keep the sneak
- 23:05Speaker 1: nobody out did keep for side shows and the Jack
- 23:09Speaker 1: of Hagar on all them records. So Drake kind of
- 23:12Speaker 1: like caught the wind unfortunately right before he died and
- 23:15Speaker 1: when he died, so Dre never even got to perform
- 23:19Speaker 1: Feeling Myself in all those records. He never got to
- 23:21Speaker 1: fully feel what what he means to debay like today
- 23:26Speaker 1: because like now nowadays feel that yeah, like he did,
- 23:30Speaker 1: Like you know, I feel like in the same way
- 23:32Speaker 1: that Pok never probably got to really feel what he
- 23:35Speaker 1: meant until, you know, once he passed. I think people, yeah,
- 23:37Speaker 1: like when people did they bad Chris Brown and Drake,
- 23:40Speaker 1: they probably would have been bringing Dre out right, But
- 23:43Speaker 1: like he didn't get to see like his biggest songs.
- 23:46Speaker 1: He wasn't here for Stretch told me like he passed
- 23:48Speaker 1: away like a month before the album dropped or after
- 23:51Speaker 1: the album drop, So a lot of that stuff is
- 23:54Speaker 1: like legendary shit that he never even got. He never
- 23:57Speaker 1: even got to see the results of. Yeah, he never
- 23:59Speaker 1: got the form at like a summer jam or you
- 24:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like he didn't get the shut
- 24:03Speaker 1: down on an arena, right right, right, right right, Everything
- 24:06Speaker 1: was more trivia. But nah, Dre is death, Like you know,
- 24:09Speaker 1: he definitely dope. But I'm talking about when I grew
- 24:11Speaker 1: up in Oakland, like these was the five people peak
- 24:15Speaker 1: Hyphee era before before it was even a high, when
- 24:18Speaker 1: it was just yo, keep the sneak hype. Did you
- 24:21Speaker 1: think Because if you think of like My Ghetto report
- 24:24Speaker 1: Card being like the biggest hyphie album, but at the time,
- 24:30Speaker 1: wasn't forty not really considered a hypheie artist. Yeah, forty
- 24:34Speaker 1: forty like the winner that Bayes lived through all of
- 24:36Speaker 1: our moment. Yeah, forty is like, uh timeless in terms
- 24:40Speaker 1: of like every time he puts an album out, it's
- 24:44Speaker 1: fucking fire and it doesn't matter how what era we're
- 24:46Speaker 1: in he adjusts, he gets to write features. It's it's crazy.
- 24:49Speaker 1: But in terms of like My Ghetto report Card, like
- 24:52Speaker 1: because I feel like the hyphee movement was something that
- 24:54Speaker 1: was like very uh grassroots, I guess should really fully
- 25:00Speaker 1: appreciate it. He had to live there. My get a
- 25:03Speaker 1: report Card was like it took the ship to a
- 25:06Speaker 1: whole nother life. It was the perfection of it. It
- 25:08Speaker 1: was crazy because it took it. It took it to
- 25:10Speaker 1: like such a crazy level that like, you know, ship
- 25:13Speaker 1: tell me when to go as a record, you could
- 25:15Speaker 1: play fucking mean Brooklyn, you know whatever. You know what
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm saying. You know, I think forty was just like
- 25:21Speaker 1: he the winner of all time, so he was able
- 25:23Speaker 1: to he could do whatever he wants and be and
- 25:25Speaker 1: make it the best quality of it, Like if it
- 25:29Speaker 1: could have been and he had Little John on that, Like, yeah,
- 25:33Speaker 1: is such the winner that he can polish it, you know,
- 25:35Speaker 1: like DLO NoHo is unmixed. It sounds like it a classic, Yes,
- 25:41Speaker 1: like ifty, had it would have been mixed Little John FORDU,
- 25:45Speaker 1: it would have been even major. Delo is another one
- 25:46Speaker 1: of those guys from the Bay who is a big deal,
- 25:49Speaker 1: but you know, is somebody who's maybe their potential wasn't
- 25:53Speaker 1: seen nationally if that makes sense. Yeah, but you never
- 25:56Speaker 1: should go on the stage after if you're performed him. No,
- 25:58Speaker 1: he's crazy. He did my birthday part when you're in
- 26:00Speaker 1: Phoenix and it was it's hard to perform at the
- 26:02Speaker 1: d LO in the bank. Yeah, Like he got probably
- 26:04Speaker 1: like four certified records. That's like the band General's got
- 26:08Speaker 1: songs that like didn't work anywhere else for like artists
- 26:11Speaker 1: not from the Bay that are fucking huge. There were
- 26:14Speaker 1: the B side Capitol. It's crazy the big pride in
- 26:17Speaker 1: that though, Like what's the Mike Jones song flossing flossing
- 26:22Speaker 1: Jesus Christ? Is Mike Jones flossing? It's uh Young Droe
- 26:26Speaker 1: high five mm hmmm uh bird Man out the ghetto
- 26:32Speaker 1: like it's ship like when you when you play, they
- 26:34Speaker 1: go like, why are you playing this ship? But out there? Yeah?
- 26:37Speaker 1: Like then they were like, oh shit, we probably should
- 26:40Speaker 1: have did this ship, you know what I'm saying. So
- 26:41Speaker 1: we like to be B side Capitol though, like why
- 26:43Speaker 1: do you think that is? We probably think we all
- 26:47Speaker 1: in RS at some point, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 26:49Speaker 1: because well, I think it for me, it originated like
- 26:53Speaker 1: before the Heiphe movement, Like the original side shows. It
- 26:56Speaker 1: almost used to be like what's the coolest song you
- 26:59Speaker 1: can play that nobody knows? Like let me find something
- 27:02Speaker 1: on the album? Yeah, like you have you know the
- 27:04Speaker 1: singles gonna get played, but let me find this other joint.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It'd be like a nigga coming down the street in
- 27:08Speaker 1: the van four fifteen slapping the gap, being outstanding in
- 27:12Speaker 1: the middle of a bunch of gangsters, what I'm saying,
- 27:14Speaker 1: or Guapolai closer like that shit, like it was some
- 27:18Speaker 1: real killers slapping closer taking their heart out, you know
- 27:21Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Or so it used to just be
- 27:23Speaker 1: like a one up, like what song can I slap that?
- 27:26Speaker 1: Nobody else? No one else? Yeah, that makes sense that
- 27:29Speaker 1: I think that personifi is a pretty yeah. Yeah, so
- 27:32Speaker 1: we big on that b sides. Appreciate y'all watching, But listen,
- 27:36Speaker 1: our partners at Blue Choo they got you handled fellas

- 28:58Speaker 1: the interview. Uh, this was there ever on this project.
- 29:02Speaker 1: When you put artists together on a record, do you
- 29:05Speaker 1: have to like let them know this guy's gonna be
- 29:07Speaker 1: on the song too, to make sure there's no like issues. Yeah.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I mean, I'm pretty aware of most people that I'm
- 29:13Speaker 1: cool with issues, but there's also somewhere behind the scenes.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Shit sometimes we don't know about it about bitches like
- 29:20Speaker 1: I mean, I was pretty good though. I think they
- 29:22Speaker 1: kind of respect my position just anyway. Right, But now
- 29:25Speaker 1: nobody on those songs that don't really rock. I got
- 29:28Speaker 1: like a record with all the females on it, right,
- 29:31Speaker 1: they all get along. It was cool with it. It's
- 29:34Speaker 1: kind of it's tough to see most of the female
- 29:36Speaker 1: rappers are embracing each other. Yeah, yeah, they going crazy.
- 29:38Speaker 1: It's crazy. Glow really is fine. I just had her
- 29:40Speaker 1: in here and move. It's fucking hilarious. Glow going crazy.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I don't even know we could say like glow about
- 29:46Speaker 1: the light. Lock in with Glow right now. That's all
- 29:50Speaker 1: I tell people. If you could get the verse, get
- 29:52Speaker 1: the verse, get the verse now, yeah, and try to
- 29:54Speaker 1: figure it out later, because it's some shit about to
- 29:57Speaker 1: go down or where it's going to be, Like remix
- 30:01Speaker 1: besides the remix, like some big dog glow shit Nicki
- 30:06Speaker 1: Minaj shit, not like a big dog glows some. I
- 30:09Speaker 1: don't know. I just know it's big dog shit. Okay. Yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 1: the emails is real private Okay, okay, but I know,
- 30:15Speaker 1: like people should like it with Glow right now if
- 30:18Speaker 1: they can't. Who's the funnest person to hang out with?
- 30:22Speaker 1: And CMG, I know it's going to be Black Youngster,
- 30:24Speaker 1: So just tell me why it's Black Youngster. I don't
- 30:26Speaker 1: even I might even answer the question. Obviously, Black Youngster
- 30:29Speaker 1: is the funnest guy to hang out with. Tell me
- 30:30Speaker 1: your Black youngster story? Uh Ma, I mean Black Youngster.
- 30:34Speaker 1: We was on tour together, we did the Canada Run.
- 30:36Speaker 1: When he first came to CMG. He's a great guy,
- 30:38Speaker 1: hilarious guy. Black youngsters just he's excited about life, so
- 30:42Speaker 1: everything to him is fun. You know what I'm saying,
- 30:45Speaker 1: He needs a podcast. He definitely should, he'd I'm trying to.
- 30:49Speaker 1: But you know what, who like really funny and he
- 30:51Speaker 1: don't got he as funny as fuck? Yeah, he just
- 30:54Speaker 1: like you know, he like a private person though, so
- 30:57Speaker 1: but like god, he know how to liked impressions of
- 30:59Speaker 1: other people though, really like if he ever telling you
- 31:02Speaker 1: a story about an artist, he literally knows how to
- 31:05Speaker 1: talk just like him. Really, this ship is like I
- 31:08Speaker 1: only know how to talk just like him. When I
- 31:10Speaker 1: say murder, everybody in milk something like milk and music
- 31:16Speaker 1: is like wow, but not like guy. He got a
- 31:18Speaker 1: bunch of rap stories. Like you know, he's been arounding
- 31:21Speaker 1: tv T days and then leaving tv T had to
- 31:24Speaker 1: pretty much just like hit reset, like the cash money
- 31:27Speaker 1: there he was in you know what I'm saying, Like
- 31:30Speaker 1: the T I s the GZ like he was around.
- 31:33Speaker 1: He's around so much. Ship like doctor Dre and they like,
- 31:36Speaker 1: dude got some stories. That's like that's crazy, Like I
- 31:39Speaker 1: got a dog story. I gotta hear that one. He
- 31:41Speaker 1: got like a dog story consistent They dog Doctor Dre
- 31:46Speaker 1: in the game. Okay, I gotta hear that he could tell.
- 31:50Speaker 1: That ship is amazing. That she could be like you
- 31:52Speaker 1: remember who was killing Mike did the animated Yeah, you
- 31:55Speaker 1: could be a cartoon. That ship is crazy. Were you
- 31:58Speaker 1: there when he lost all that money gambling with jay
- 32:00Speaker 1: Z and everybody, And I was in the crap. I
- 32:03Speaker 1: was like, I mean we gambled, were black jack? That
- 32:05Speaker 1: should hurt my heart. Yeah, we all got like because
- 32:08Speaker 1: I know he's got it. Man, I don't know who
- 32:10Speaker 1: got it, but we like real blackjack player. No, I
- 32:12Speaker 1: get it, I get it, but I'm just saying that
- 32:14Speaker 1: one specific. I don't know if it was a hand
- 32:16Speaker 1: or was it a broke was it it was like
- 32:18Speaker 1: I think he was. It was blackjack, and I think
- 32:20Speaker 1: he was at like sixteen and a dealer show like thirteen,
- 32:24Speaker 1: so he didn't hit. He hit, Oh he did hit,
- 32:26Speaker 1: And that's what we all was like, like we played
- 32:29Speaker 1: black jack him, CMGB me, like this ship is like strategy,
- 32:33Speaker 1: Like we all got our own strategy. So the fuck
- 32:35Speaker 1: I think me and CMGB was there, we were kind
- 32:38Speaker 1: of looking at you like, what the fuck that he
- 32:39Speaker 1: just hit on the sixteen for I was sick for
- 32:43Speaker 1: my boy though. I was sick I saw that ship,
- 32:46Speaker 1: I said, and he just was like he yeah, because
- 32:49Speaker 1: he ain't going to ever show you like I'd be
- 32:51Speaker 1: fucking fucking But he got to the table though. It
- 32:54Speaker 1: was one of the things like what the fuck was
- 32:55Speaker 1: what you doing? He was like, I don't know. I
- 32:58Speaker 1: think it was usually how it goes when you're in
- 33:00Speaker 1: Vegas and you are down a bunch and you're just
- 33:03Speaker 1: like fuck. Yeah, I didn't see him like wipe out
- 33:06Speaker 1: Vegas though too. I'm sure I didn't see like anybody
- 33:08Speaker 1: who's willing to gamble that much on one hand has
- 33:11Speaker 1: also one. No, I didn't seem like, you know, like
- 33:13Speaker 1: when the Men in Black comes down behind you, like
- 33:16Speaker 1: it's too up. Like, yeah, I didn't see gott it
- 33:19Speaker 1: like the poems we own that we owned the palms,
- 33:23Speaker 1: No part of that. I've gambled so much money away,
- 33:26Speaker 1: especially on sports. I don't do sports sports vegans. Yeah,
- 33:30Speaker 1: it's wild. Uh you're obviously a Warriors fan. Unfortunate of course.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Uh yeah, how are you feeling about the Warriors? He said, unfortunately,
- 33:40Speaker 1: you're good man. We stayed down. We had a rough
- 33:42Speaker 1: two years, but we stayed down. Yeah. You know what,
- 33:45Speaker 1: I'll say this. I met Draymond Green the other night.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Very nice guy, and I hate him, but I don't
- 33:52Speaker 1: hate him him as a Yeah, I don't hate him
- 33:55Speaker 1: as a dude, but you know, from a fans, he's
- 34:00Speaker 1: our antagonist. I'm like, god, damn, he's like Patrick Beverley
- 34:03Speaker 1: but for the Warriors. But it's not as dirty and
- 34:06Speaker 1: we win. Yeah, but you. Yeah, like it was crazy.
- 34:10Speaker 1: My little homie wand played for us last year. He
- 34:13Speaker 1: from Open the Lakers on the Lakers Now, So it
- 34:16Speaker 1: was dope to see Wan get the ring. You know.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Steph always been down Like Steph probably like the most
- 34:22Speaker 1: untouchable figure. Him and Clay Bay. Yeah, like Klayvee with
- 34:28Speaker 1: Jim and them and all black. Why see Clay riding
- 34:31Speaker 1: his bike everywhere like with Klavey like women. I don't
- 34:35Speaker 1: know why they even happened. But I've seen him in
- 34:38Speaker 1: the nightclub in Scottsdale before randomly and I'm just like,
- 34:41Speaker 1: why is what? Like with no like nobody knew he
- 34:45Speaker 1: was coming. He was just ends up in the section
- 34:47Speaker 1: Clay Good. I've seen a video like a couple of
- 34:49Speaker 1: years ago, Steph was in West Oakland getting gas. Not
- 34:54Speaker 1: touched nice Like niggas are like, oh Stephanie c and
- 34:57Speaker 1: he like, what's up. I was like, that'll let you
- 35:00Speaker 1: know when you but you're not wearing the under armor
- 35:03Speaker 1: sneakers if I did an event, if I did a
- 35:07Speaker 1: step event, yeah, I mean obviously they gotta pay. They
- 35:10Speaker 1: gotta pay you to wear them. It's not going though. No, Yeah,
- 35:14Speaker 1: for like as great of a player. He is top
- 35:17Speaker 1: three worst basketball shoe of all No, hell no, because
- 35:20Speaker 1: you gotta go there. Like some of these new shacks,
- 35:22Speaker 1: Shacks was trash. Nah, but Reebok was solid. You know what.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I don't even think he had an official shoe after
- 35:29Speaker 1: he left. He just had a brand. So we'll exclude Shack.
- 35:32Speaker 1: They remember when terrible horrible? Uh well, those are the
- 35:39Speaker 1: spree Wheels though, right well, there was the Spree Whels
- 35:41Speaker 1: with them and them, there's been some trash. We ain't
- 35:45Speaker 1: given Steph the top trash because Steph put colors on
- 35:47Speaker 1: this ship. So you know a lot of colors in
- 35:50Speaker 1: the basketball look cool? Now top five worst then, Steph,
- 35:54Speaker 1: I'm rocking with you. What's what's worse? Uh? Kawhi Leonards,
- 35:59Speaker 1: New Balance or steps Kauha? Well yeah, but New Balance

- 36:07Speaker 1: I guess the new bunce on my feet right now,
- 36:08Speaker 1: the comfortable I'm embracing. Man. They sent me some free
- 36:11Speaker 1: shoes and they were sitting in my closet for like
- 36:13Speaker 1: three years, and I was going to rolling loud like
- 36:16Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. So I was like, you
- 36:17Speaker 1: know what, let me wear these fucking things because I'm
- 36:19Speaker 1: gonna be on my feet comfortable them bitches on. I said,
- 36:22Speaker 1: I like this, I'm thirty five. I had to start
- 36:24Speaker 1: sucking up these great boys. Yeah I got I got
- 36:27Speaker 1: about ten five fifties. They fucking great shoe comfortable. My
- 36:32Speaker 1: boy over there, he make sure we're good. I need
- 36:34Speaker 1: his number. I'll get you. I'm on the dad shoe.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I just buy Jordan's, like every pair of Jordan's that
- 36:42Speaker 1: comes out there, Like, I buy it, but then I
- 36:44Speaker 1: don't wear them. Yea. I end up just wearing like
- 36:47Speaker 1: the same, like three pairs of shoes, and then I
- 36:49Speaker 1: just have fucking stacks of Jordan's that just don't get worn.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I mean using Jordans for my studio fits though. Now
- 36:54Speaker 1: mm so what's your going to the club shoe man?
- 36:59Speaker 1: I'm you can go around with air Force one. They
- 37:01Speaker 1: one time wears though, but uh one time, yeah, one time,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and then they become house shoes. I'm on a three
- 37:08Speaker 1: day run with the ones I got today because we
- 37:10Speaker 1: had to do a video shoot. I'm like, I'm not
- 37:11Speaker 1: messing up. No, We're in Uh there's Benny the Butcher Show,
- 37:15Speaker 1: and uh you know it it's a Griselda show at
- 37:19Speaker 1: the shrine a couple of months ago, and Benny took
- 37:23Speaker 1: off Air Force ones in the parking line, just left
- 37:25Speaker 1: them there. So I grabbed them, bitches and game to
- 37:27Speaker 1: myself with the same size, brand new pair. No no,
- 37:30Speaker 1: no, no no, no no no. He'd already like pulled off
- 37:32Speaker 1: and I was like, cool, everyone's gone. I can grab
- 37:34Speaker 1: those and not look crazy. Then he grabbed these fucking
- 37:37Speaker 1: one one Warren air Force. They become house shoes after though,
- 37:40Speaker 1: geting to my son, he got a brand new pair
- 37:41Speaker 1: of Forces. I got bout. I got a second room
- 37:45Speaker 1: full of Air Force ones. That's too much. I mean
- 37:49Speaker 1: when you with you know they don't even feel the same.
- 37:52Speaker 1: You walk taller when they're fresh. Pier. No, you're right,
- 37:55Speaker 1: so wait wait, wait, you have a room just for forces? Know,
- 37:58Speaker 1: like my second room is really all my shoes, but
- 38:01Speaker 1: half of the room is all white Air Force ones.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Wh't you just donate them? I do donate some of them,
- 38:06Speaker 1: because like my mom neighbor like he like restores them.
- 38:12Speaker 1: So he took a few pier before he, like I said,
- 38:15Speaker 1: they become house shoes. We got to stop the interview.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Tell you about our partners at odd Socks. Well, first

- 39:42Speaker 1: are you dropping your project, your full album before the year.
- 39:46Speaker 1: I think we're trying to come to November, maybe even October.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I'm waiting for one feature though. Pooh, well we're trying
- 39:55Speaker 1: to wait for like Chris, but I know you're on tour. Yeah,
- 39:58Speaker 1: like the big Big Dogs is not as easy to
- 40:00Speaker 1: get of course, Like you gotta go through like cousins managers, right, managers.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Really it's like getting that like it's so hard because
- 40:11Speaker 1: it's like when people go to the studio that's that big,
- 40:14Speaker 1: it's really they're going for a reason. Yeah, And it's
- 40:17Speaker 1: like how do you get your record to be in
- 40:20Speaker 1: the mix of like I gotta do it right now
- 40:22Speaker 1: while they're there. It's almost like you have to go
- 40:25Speaker 1: and pull up. But even then they still get you,
- 40:28Speaker 1: like I got you right. But yeah, it's it's tough.
- 40:31Speaker 1: But like those people, like somebody like a Chris Brown,
- 40:35Speaker 1: like dude is a big dog, right, so like I'm
- 40:39Speaker 1: sure you got a waiting list of one hundred niggas
- 40:41Speaker 1: waiting to get a critical one hundred percent, and he's
- 40:43Speaker 1: like the hook god. So it's like, yo, everybody want
- 40:45Speaker 1: I bet you everyone wants Chris Brow. Yeah. So you're
- 40:48Speaker 1: almost trying to find like what's the fastest route to him.
- 40:51Speaker 1: And I think I took it for granted because CMG
- 40:54Speaker 1: being so popping, Like I literally could just call back
- 40:57Speaker 1: and say I need a verse, and it's like all right, cool,
- 41:00Speaker 1: two days you got your verse, or like if you
- 41:03Speaker 1: came up in Cali, we all came together like Tied
- 41:05Speaker 1: Dollar and the YG's and all them. But like the
- 41:08Speaker 1: people you don't know, it's tougher. Yeah, I mean that's
- 41:12Speaker 1: kind of the whole reason that be the guy you are.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, your relationship guys right right, So it's
- 41:19Speaker 1: kind of all the early Kalid Records had the same
- 41:21Speaker 1: motherfuckers on them, same fold people. It was like Plies
- 41:23Speaker 1: t pain, fucking Little Wayne Ross strict Daddy. I'd like
- 41:28Speaker 1: to bring back the Plies on Kalid Records, fucking you know,
- 41:32Speaker 1: trended or just Plies in general. Flies need more flo.
- 41:36Speaker 1: It really hurt my feeling. I'm gonna tell you this, though,
- 41:38Speaker 1: I had Plies on my record, like and he killed it,
- 41:41Speaker 1: like killed the record. We just wasn't able to get
- 41:44Speaker 1: it business finished. Really, Yeah, it wasn't Flies faulty. Is
- 41:49Speaker 1: he still in Atlantic? I don't know, but I got
- 41:52Speaker 1: I got it right with somebody, and I'm gonna talk
- 41:54Speaker 1: to Plies directly about damn. But it was like one
- 41:57Speaker 1: of the like it was Applies verse to where like
- 42:01Speaker 1: everybody heard it and was like, yeah, Applies is fire man.
- 42:04Speaker 1: He don't really feel like. I lived in Tampa for
- 42:07Speaker 1: a few years and I really got to see like
- 42:09Speaker 1: some of them b side records that like go crazy
- 42:13Speaker 1: in Florida like that bitch, or like there's so many
- 42:15Speaker 1: records full time, you got so much shit. Yeah, shout
- 42:17Speaker 1: out Applies, all right, So your album's coming out before
- 42:19Speaker 1: the end of the year. New single out with Ross,
- 42:23Speaker 1: my new single wait, well you get the Ross single out,
- 42:25Speaker 1: the new single that just dropped, Gezy Yep, He'll go
- 42:28Speaker 1: crazy with g Zy uh Gotti. And then my new
- 42:31Speaker 1: artist project pop out of Oakland, Out of Oakland where
- 42:34Speaker 1: it is turned up. Shout out to Oakland, Shout out
- 42:37Speaker 1: to the Bay. You gotta come out there and hang
- 42:39Speaker 1: out with us. I go a lot, man, But I'm
- 42:41Speaker 1: always I mean, and I'm always in the city. I'm
- 42:44Speaker 1: always at the Intercontinental. Oh yeah, yeah, right by the
- 42:46Speaker 1: Green Door. Just what's the Green Door? Oh yeah, the
- 42:50Speaker 1: street street from the hotel. Come to Oakland, man. I
- 42:54Speaker 1: asked that because in Vegas there's a fucking sex club
- 42:57Speaker 1: called the Green Door. I used to live in Vegas,
- 42:59Speaker 1: so there used to be this place called the Green
- 43:01Speaker 1: Door that was in the parking lot of a nightclub
- 43:03Speaker 1: we did, and I would be like, what the fuck
- 43:06Speaker 1: is a swinger club. It's in the middle of Vegas
- 43:09Speaker 1: off Sahara. There's pure trees over here. But she had
- 43:12Speaker 1: come to open Man. I got to, man, that's the
- 43:14Speaker 1: culture I got to Every time I'm in town, I'm like, well,
- 43:17Speaker 1: you know what I haven't been. I haven't been in
- 43:18Speaker 1: a few months, but next time I'm back, I got
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm always in and out though. Like he said, when
- 43:23Speaker 1: I come to San Francisco, I have like a checklist
- 43:25Speaker 1: of things, so I just run around doing those things,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and then when I have a second de breathe, I
- 43:30Speaker 1: try to get some good food. And then if you
- 43:32Speaker 1: ever want to see like the real culture of the
- 43:34Speaker 1: Berry and we can have all these debates we want
- 43:36Speaker 1: to be, you gotta come to open I need to
- 43:38Speaker 1: Oakland is the I mean, I've been to Oakland, but
- 43:40Speaker 1: I haven't like tapped in with Oakland. For sure. I
- 43:44Speaker 1: need to there. It is the boy Dame. Go follow
- 43:47Speaker 1: my guy. Go stream the New Records buutleg Cap podcast
