- 0:58Speaker 2: come and win exhibit in February. I was about to
- 1:01Speaker 2: say I'm kind of mad because I put my Albums
- 1:03Speaker 2: of the Year a list out. Yeah, now I know
- 1:06Speaker 2: it qualifies for next year.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Oh, thank you man. I appreciate that.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Great body of work. Man X to the Z exhibit
- 1:12Speaker 2: is here.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Welcome sir, thanks for having me.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, now this is crazy. Like you just played me
- 1:17Speaker 2: your album and I just was like wait a minute,
- 1:22Speaker 2: Like bro, you was like really like locked the fuck in? Uh,
- 1:27Speaker 2: this album is crazy and it's not. I'm not just
- 1:30Speaker 2: telling you like this ship is. It's up there with
- 1:33Speaker 2: your you got to Me, you got three classics. It's
- 1:36Speaker 2: up there with with with all three of your first
- 1:39Speaker 2: three albums.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Thank you man.
- 1:41Speaker 1: You know when when I when I sat back and
- 1:44Speaker 1: we talk about this with my circle of friends, we
- 1:47Speaker 1: talk about the record, and I think the best way
- 1:51Speaker 1: I can explain it is that I found my voice right.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Not not the way my voice sounds or the inflection
- 1:59Speaker 1: or of it. I'm talking about like I know what
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm supposed to say, I know how I'm supposed to
- 2:06Speaker 1: be talking. I know I know what my message is.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:11Speaker 2: It's crazy because you've had like a was your last
- 2:15Speaker 2: album May Pum Yes, And that was in twenty eleven twelve. Yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 2: so it's crazy to think, like, in the last twelve years, right,
- 2:26Speaker 2: you've been known for a lot of things in terms
- 2:30Speaker 2: of like your entrepreneurial shit. Right, you've been leveling up
- 2:33Speaker 2: in the weed game, and by the way, put out
- 2:35Speaker 2: some amazing stuff with the Serial Killers, Yes, Shout to
- 2:38Speaker 2: Be Real and Deemrick. Yes, the last album you guys
- 2:42Speaker 2: dropped was fucking crazy yeah album. Yeah, Yes, it's not
- 2:45Speaker 2: a sam shit that But you know, like was there,
- 2:52Speaker 2: like you said, you found your voice, Like what was
- 2:54Speaker 2: the motivation to get you cause you know, I know
- 2:57Speaker 2: what it's like to own a bunch of businesses and
- 2:59Speaker 2: have your eye on so many different balls at the
- 3:01Speaker 2: same time. But it just, like I said, it just
- 3:02Speaker 2: felt like you were just really like re engaged on
- 3:08Speaker 2: this album, like in a way that like I haven't
- 3:09Speaker 2: heard in a long time.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I think.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I think how we all deal with different parts of
- 3:19Speaker 1: our life with stress and and finding other things to
- 3:23Speaker 1: do and you know, testing the boundaries, and I do that.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I like to take risks. I like to take.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Chances, right, you know, film, television, even going into different
- 3:35Speaker 1: aspects of business. It's a risk, you know, because time
- 3:39Speaker 1: is the most valuable thing, so you got to spend
- 3:41Speaker 1: it wisely, right. And so as I'm doing these things
- 3:44Speaker 1: and I'm you know, going out and venturing out. You
- 3:47Speaker 1: know when you have that that that thing that you
- 3:52Speaker 1: want to feel, you know, full, you don't want to avoid,
- 3:55Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I was feeling avoid
- 3:58Speaker 1: so and so when I started going back and you know,
- 4:01Speaker 1: working in the studio again, that's what you know. Actually
- 4:05Speaker 1: it started when I started with I did a James
- 4:09Speaker 1: Savage j O Felony. We did a project called James
- 4:13Speaker 1: Savage and that really got.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Me going first, and you know what I'm saying.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And once I produced that for him, then I started
- 4:22Speaker 1: like making records for myself again. And then I was like,
- 4:25Speaker 1: oh oh shit, you know what I'm saying. Like I
- 4:27Speaker 1: was finding what made me feel solid and feel that void,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and so I only did records like that. Now we
- 4:34Speaker 1: have all kinds of you know, we did I don't know,
- 4:37Speaker 1: we did like fifty.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Some records for this, for this that, this album.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Wow, you know what I'm saying, and there, but there's
- 4:44Speaker 1: eighteen that made it, you know what I'm saying. And
- 4:47Speaker 1: so I feel really good and strong about everything on
- 4:51Speaker 1: this record, because I haven't had that before, you know
- 4:54Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, even though I can go back
- 4:56Speaker 1: to Restless and still hear things that I would have
- 4:58Speaker 1: did differently.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Which song did you not like Onrestless? I'm just curious
- 5:01Speaker 2: which one you would have left off? Was there a
- 5:03Speaker 2: song that you like listen back that didn't age the greatest?
- 5:05Speaker 3: No?
- 5:06Speaker 4: Asking which one is curious because I always wonder, like
- 5:12Speaker 4: back in the day, right back in the day, when
- 5:14Speaker 4: you're on a major label, sometimes the label would win
- 5:16Speaker 4: an argument on a song, you know what I mean,
- 5:18Speaker 4: Like maybe you were like I would have didn't focus
- 5:20Speaker 4: that song with the label wanted it on there, right.
- 5:22Speaker 3: No, I feel like that about different records, but not
- 5:24Speaker 3: on Restless.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah, restlessess fucking yeah, I like that one, like one
- 5:29Speaker 2: of that. I wanted to ask you something I always wondered, right,
- 5:32Speaker 2: because sometimes like it frustrates me because I'm like a
- 5:38Speaker 2: fan of your ship from real like at the speed
- 5:43Speaker 2: of life, like forty days, forty nights, like chamber music,
- 5:48Speaker 2: recard Molly, like oh my god, like just fucking amazing
- 5:54Speaker 2: Los Angeles times.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Of course.
- 5:57Speaker 2: You become a star, which you know is I feel
- 6:02Speaker 2: like it's very hard to be a certain level of
- 6:05Speaker 2: famous and you've achieved that level of fame through a
- 6:08Speaker 2: show like Pimp My Ride, through doing movies, through doing TV,
- 6:11Speaker 2: through doing films. But while doing all of that stuff,
- 6:14Speaker 2: there is like an entire generation of people that strictly
- 6:17Speaker 2: only associate you with those television shows, and or while
- 6:22Speaker 2: associating you as a rapper, discount your career as a
- 6:25Speaker 2: rapper because they just, oh, it's to pit my Ride. Guy.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Was there ever, like the gift in the cause, I'm
- 6:32Speaker 2: never gonna call being on pim My Ride a curse
- 6:34Speaker 2: because that changed your life, right, But what was the
- 6:40Speaker 2: fame and the success of the other stuff in front
- 6:43Speaker 2: of the camera. Did it take a hit like on
- 6:48Speaker 2: the MU like, did it?
- 6:48Speaker 3: Did it?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Did it affect the music stuff in a negative way
- 6:52Speaker 2: at all?
- 6:54Speaker 3: Well?
- 6:58Speaker 2: I was the first, the first, right, because we didn't
- 7:01Speaker 2: have a TI reality show.
- 7:02Speaker 1: We had nobody is okay, so let's start. Let's start there.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I was the first, so we didn't know at the
- 7:10Speaker 1: time what you know twenty some years later was going
- 7:14Speaker 1: to look like. So being the first, there was a
- 7:17Speaker 1: lot of risk versus reward, you know what I'm saying
- 7:20Speaker 1: I was too close to it in the beginning. But
- 7:22Speaker 1: as you know, now I look back and I can understand,
- 7:26Speaker 1: like this made me a global brand. This made me
- 7:30Speaker 1: somewhere where I can be. You know, the people who
- 7:33Speaker 1: don't even know I do music, they they know me, right,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and that's something to start with, right, And so when
- 7:39Speaker 1: then you look at you know, Okay, so now everybody
- 7:44Speaker 1: that's in music is doing something other than music in
- 7:47Speaker 1: order to.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Just everybody to get everybody's got their side quest to.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Get it, to get the you know, use the music
- 7:53Speaker 1: as a backdroper and then be able to you know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: like put them put theirselves out, put themselves out there.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So I think that you know, the people that try
- 8:05Speaker 1: to dismiss the music because of the show, I don't know.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Everybody is entitled to their opinion.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But was that something that you would like notice was
- 8:15Speaker 2: happening at the time, like once the show really popped off, Like.
- 8:19Speaker 1: No, it definitely bothered me, you know what I'm saying,
- 8:21Speaker 1: because I was too close to it. Like I said,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I wanted people to know me for one thing, but
- 8:26Speaker 1: then you know, they they recognized me and know me
- 8:29Speaker 1: for this other thing.
- 8:30Speaker 2: And then you're doing.
- 8:30Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I had, I had you and you and bust Ryan's
- 8:33Speaker 2: had a horrible movie I had. I bought that movie
- 8:37Speaker 2: from Hollywood Video. It was terrible, but I bought it
- 8:40Speaker 2: and I watched that motherfucker that was on my shelf.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Thank you, man, I appreciate I let him know.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I'll tell yo, it's crazy. So my best friend I
- 8:51Speaker 2: have like one of my real first like hip hop
- 8:55Speaker 2: two hip hop stories in life. Really, my best friend's
- 8:59Speaker 2: name is rams His brother is Raka from Dilating. So
- 9:02Speaker 2: Ramses came to LA. It's Roca's dad has a lot. Yeah,
- 9:06Speaker 2: that's Buddy. Buddy's my best Yes, of course Buddy who
- 9:09Speaker 2: was in the Was he in the.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Paparazza as the Yeah, and now he's a lawyer.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yes, he's a lawyer.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So Ramses comes to LA to meet his brothers. And
- 9:24Speaker 2: this is a before the platform came out, so this
- 9:28Speaker 2: was I don't even know what.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Year this was.
- 9:30Speaker 2: He comes out to LA. I think at the time
- 9:32Speaker 2: he's probably seventeen. I'm thirteen something like that, hangs out
- 9:39Speaker 2: with the alcoholics you're around, comes back, He's like, Yo,
- 9:44Speaker 2: my brother's in this rap group and I was hanging
- 9:47Speaker 2: out with Exhibit and whatever the case is. Then you
- 9:50Speaker 2: ended up like not long after that, having a concert.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It was like a college show at Arizona State University,
- 9:57Speaker 2: and me and Ramses with the hope of finding you
- 10:00Speaker 2: backstage so you would remember him, we legit as like children,
- 10:05Speaker 2: snuck into the backstage of this concert, was moving around
- 10:08Speaker 2: like crazy fast forward. You're on the is it that?
- 10:13Speaker 2: What was the tour with Popper Roach Anger Management Tour?
- 10:19Speaker 2: And again we're on a mission sophere rest is soul
- 10:25Speaker 2: is on that tour, sees Ramses recognizes him and brings
- 10:30Speaker 2: us backstage. Yes, And I'm a little kid back at
- 10:34Speaker 2: the Anger Management tour and you're the first Well, no
- 10:36Speaker 2: you're not. I don't know if you're the first. Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 2: you're probably the first rapper I ever really kind of
- 10:40Speaker 2: like I was a little dirty ass white kid. I
- 10:44Speaker 2: was probably thirteen, twelve thirteen, and like you were super
- 10:48Speaker 2: cool backstage, and I remember just being like what.
- 10:50Speaker 3: The fuck, Like, yeah, was that what was that?
- 10:54Speaker 2: Eminem?
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Roach, elizab Biscuit, Yeah, Biscuit.
- 10:58Speaker 2: It was just yeah, whatever the case. But yeah, man,
- 11:02Speaker 2: by the way, man, we got to acknowledge the fear
- 11:05Speaker 2: passing away man. Obviously, I know he was a big
- 11:07Speaker 2: part of your story.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, that was that was tough to do, you
- 11:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But I'm glad, you know, me
- 11:18Speaker 1: and Rasp we were able to go up and see
- 11:21Speaker 1: him before he passed.
- 11:23Speaker 3: And that's important.
- 11:24Speaker 1: That was very Uh, that was very dope that we
- 11:27Speaker 1: were able to all be together, and you know, shout
- 11:30Speaker 1: out to the whole family, all the kids. You know,
- 11:36Speaker 1: his brother Sonny, you know from the Hoo Riders. He uh,
- 11:42Speaker 1: he was there, you know what I'm saying, Like he
- 11:45Speaker 1: did a lot of the heavy liftings, so shout out
- 11:47Speaker 1: to him, and uh, yeah, I'm glad we got to
- 11:50Speaker 1: see my brother.
- 11:51Speaker 2: That's good. Uh. One of the all time never got
- 11:54Speaker 2: an album but needed an album was the Golden State Warriors.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, you know, yeah, it was supposed to happen, you.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Know, and then like there was like an NBA thing
- 12:05Speaker 2: where they stepped in like you can't call yourself then
- 12:07Speaker 2: it was like project.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah. When we called ourselves the Golden State Project, we
- 12:10Speaker 1: actually got a cease and desist letter from from the
- 12:13Speaker 1: Golden State Basketball organization. They was like, yo, if you
- 12:17Speaker 1: do that, we're gonna fucking murder you. Like, okay, we won't.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Well they didn't say that, but basically it was like,
- 12:22Speaker 1: don't funk with our ship?
- 12:25Speaker 2: Was there? Like how how did you guys ever? Like
- 12:28Speaker 2: like actually with intent work on that album?
- 12:31Speaker 3: We we had four songs completed and.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Then like that we haven't heard that.
- 12:37Speaker 3: You haven't heard Wow? Yeah?
- 12:40Speaker 2: One day, man, one day.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I got them sitting on das. I know exactly what
- 12:43Speaker 1: they got. Yeah, I got them. Yeah, I'm organized like that.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Three is one of the best postall I got.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I got the I got it organized, some other stuff.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I got some thing nails. You made me think about it.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I have like these big bins of like it kept
- 12:56Speaker 1: all my cassettes, I kept all my CDs, and I
- 12:59Speaker 1: start going through the CDs.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I got, like Kanye West beat CDs.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I got, like you know what I'm saying, like like
- 13:06Speaker 1: like instrumental CDs I got.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It'd be crazy if you like listen, you're like, damn,
- 13:10Speaker 2: I passed on this beat.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I want to figure out I gotta I gotta put
- 13:15Speaker 1: that ship into some hard drives or I got to
- 13:17Speaker 1: get a system where I can like organize it but
- 13:20Speaker 1: I want to like maintain that library of ship I
- 13:23Speaker 1: have because I've been like collecting.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Remember you used to give out.
- 13:26Speaker 1: CDs like you know what I'm saying, like the like
- 13:28Speaker 1: the singles and the little promo CDs and you got
- 13:31Speaker 1: instrumentals and ship on there.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I mean that's how everything was. Beat CDs, Like I
- 13:35Speaker 2: got beats here you go.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I got bet CDs from like man, you name it,
- 13:41Speaker 1: I got them.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Can you talk to me about, like, uh, how you're
- 13:46Speaker 2: feeling with the because you know, the West Coast has
- 13:52Speaker 2: a very interesting opportunity right now to like take hip
- 13:56Speaker 2: hop back be back on the forefront, right you know,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I feel like, you know, me and Snooper talked about
- 14:02Speaker 2: it a little bit. You know, the ball gets passed
- 14:04Speaker 2: around and the South has had the ball for a
- 14:06Speaker 2: long time. Atlanta's had the ball for a long time.
- 14:08Speaker 2: But it does feel like with this Kendrick situation, that
- 14:11Speaker 2: there has been an opportunity to take the ball. You
- 14:16Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, How do you feel about about
- 14:19Speaker 2: just like the West having that opportunity right now?
- 14:21Speaker 3: I feel the shift, you know, I feel it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I think, I think, I think timing is everything, you know,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I think, you know, to have these records, These records
- 14:33Speaker 1: weren't done like in three days or or within a
- 14:37Speaker 1: six week period, like we all have been working on
- 14:41Speaker 1: our own pace and whatever, and it just so happens
- 14:44Speaker 1: that everything everything lined up. Yeah, And I feel like
- 14:47Speaker 1: when things organically happen like that, it tends to be
- 14:51Speaker 1: a movement. It turns, it shifts the time, you know.
- 14:55Speaker 1: So I think there's a lot to be said in that.
- 14:57Speaker 1: And I think, you know, Kendrick Lamar being the two
- 15:00Speaker 1: but the spear, you know what I'm saying, and really
- 15:02Speaker 1: igniting a lot of a lot of that energy to
- 15:07Speaker 1: be uniform. So people are looking out for each other
- 15:09Speaker 1: and hearing it and hearing each other and okay, cool.
- 15:12Speaker 1: So you know, now we're gonna do it. Now, We're
- 15:14Speaker 1: gonna alley open now. You know what I'm saying. Now
- 15:16Speaker 1: we're on the court.
- 15:17Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. It's it's feeling good. It's good.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Yeah. It's been such a crazy year for West Coast
- 15:22Speaker 2: hip hop. We were talking about Bence Staples, Tyler Cbe
- 15:25Speaker 2: Cube album is Hard, the Snoop album is dog Pound.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah, be Real and Psycholastic Drop Something, hell Ship absolutely
- 15:36Speaker 1: your Keeaenmaker's coming. I'm glad I got to get some
- 15:38Speaker 1: music out, you know, and then we're coming in February
- 15:41Speaker 1: with the whole project.
- 15:44Speaker 2: How did you end up signing with Connor McGregor's new one,
- 15:48Speaker 2: because when I saw you announce the label, yeah, and
- 15:51Speaker 2: then I want to Now you correct me if I'm wrong,
- 15:53Speaker 2: but I want to say Bone Thugs is on the
- 15:56Speaker 2: label as well.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm not sure if that's done, but.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I mean that was that's the intent. Okay, that was
- 16:04Speaker 2: at least in the air. Yeah, yeah, I don't know
- 16:07Speaker 2: the first person to sign.
- 16:09Speaker 3: No, I believe Bone was. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I believe they are, you know, but I don't want
- 16:13Speaker 1: to speak you don't business Yeah, yeah, but I know
- 16:17Speaker 1: we were brought up second, but my project was more
- 16:22Speaker 1: close to being completed because I had already been working
- 16:24Speaker 1: right right, So that's why we were able to get in,
- 16:27Speaker 1: make the announcement, and.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Boom, pull the trigger like I already got music ready,
- 16:30Speaker 3: I'm ready to go.
- 16:31Speaker 2: But take me through the process, because a lot of
- 16:32Speaker 2: people might see Connor Gregor's got a record lab. We'll
- 16:35Speaker 2: be like, well, this is the tax right off for
- 16:36Speaker 2: this guy.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Now I said the same thing I was, you know.
- 16:40Speaker 3: But then.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Because we were getting close to being done with the
- 16:45Speaker 1: record and I wanted to, you know, start, I started
- 16:48Speaker 1: looking at ways to distribute it.
- 16:50Speaker 2: How are we going to put this out?
- 16:51Speaker 1: How now that I got the record, I want how
- 16:54Speaker 1: am I going to put it out? So we started
- 16:56Speaker 1: looking at everything, and you know, shout out to the
- 16:59Speaker 1: Russell you know, I want to go see him. I
- 17:01Speaker 1: like to Larussell's. Yeah, I love what he's doing. I'm
- 17:08Speaker 1: very inspired by that young man. And you know, he
- 17:11Speaker 1: got a movement going to and he's gonna do huge things.
- 17:14Speaker 1: So you know, I went to go see you know,
- 17:17Speaker 1: I familiar with all the DSPs and the sights and
- 17:21Speaker 1: all that other stuff. So I wanted something different because
- 17:27Speaker 1: I'm at this point of where I am musically, I
- 17:34Speaker 1: have very small windows of opportunity for me to be
- 17:37Speaker 1: totally transparent, for me to make the mark that I
- 17:40Speaker 1: need to mark, and shift the tie.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And you gotta put some respect on the body of
- 17:46Speaker 2: work you're sitting on. Correct, You don't want to just
- 17:48Speaker 2: don't throw it out, correct, be patient.
- 17:50Speaker 3: And so I was patient.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And so then the opportunity came from you know, shout
- 17:56Speaker 1: out to Bobby D. Shout out to you know, Big Tato,
- 17:59Speaker 1: who've been with me for years now, you know what
- 18:01Speaker 1: I'm saying. Like, we got a call and said that
- 18:05Speaker 1: Connor McGregor was starting a record label and they wanted
- 18:08Speaker 1: to hear some music. We sent him the music. They
- 18:10Speaker 1: was like, fucking this is we want to do this,
- 18:12Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So then I was like, well,
- 18:15Speaker 1: what the fuck is kind of a what is gonna do?
- 18:20Speaker 1: But then they explained it's like okay, so here's the deal.
- 18:23Speaker 1: So everything he does involves music.
- 18:24Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. He has to pick this
- 18:26Speaker 3: for this fight, he has to do that as he
- 18:27Speaker 3: trains to it. D da da da da.
- 18:29Speaker 1: He is very locked in on the music side, right,
- 18:32Speaker 1: And so I was like, yeah, listen to the music
- 18:34Speaker 1: in marketing and promoting and selling music.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Three to seventeen thousand different.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Things, right, And so he's like, okay, well just let's
- 18:44Speaker 1: kind of have a conversation. We went out to Marba, Spain,
- 18:48Speaker 1: and uh, well, first we went to Ireland and I
- 18:50Speaker 1: met the team of people that he wants to form
- 18:54Speaker 1: green Back Records with, right, and so there's there's some
- 18:58Speaker 1: business side of people that you know, do a multitude
- 19:01Speaker 1: of things in the in the McGregor world. But then
- 19:04Speaker 1: there's you know, people he brought in specifically to do
- 19:07Speaker 1: the record side of things. And these people have worked
- 19:09Speaker 1: in the in the buildings, they've been in their music
- 19:12Speaker 1: people with the business people. So I wanted to get
- 19:15Speaker 1: check that out. I was like, okay, cool, that makes
- 19:17Speaker 1: me feel a lot better, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And so from there we went to to actually meet
- 19:23Speaker 1: Connor and then sat down you know, got to see
- 19:26Speaker 1: the Bare knuckle Box and ship. I No, that was
- 19:30Speaker 1: in Spain, man, So so that's basically how it happened.
- 19:34Speaker 1: And then when we come home, you know, it was
- 19:36Speaker 1: just like okay, it's time to go. We're gonna push go.
- 19:39Speaker 1: And we pushed the button and that ship's working, you
- 19:41Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like it's fucking working.
- 19:43Speaker 2: So because we've seen athletes try to do the label things,
- 19:48Speaker 2: you know.
- 19:48Speaker 3: But he's not in it like that.
- 19:49Speaker 2: No, I know what I'm saying, But we've seen it, right,
- 19:51Speaker 2: like we've seen it. It's it's very I don't know
- 19:54Speaker 2: if it's ever worked, to be honest.
- 19:55Speaker 3: No, no, it's it's not because he's.
- 19:58Speaker 2: But usually it's like to be fair at you. Usually
- 20:00Speaker 2: like football players and basketball players that also kind of
- 20:02Speaker 2: want to wrap.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he's not. He's not trying to rap whatsoever.
- 20:06Speaker 2: So, like you guys have that initial condo and like,
- 20:09Speaker 2: was there anything he said to you that made you
- 20:10Speaker 2: kind of be like, yeah, fuck it, let's let's let's
- 20:13Speaker 2: give this a try.
- 20:14Speaker 1: He's approaching it differently, and he's not jaded by any
- 20:17Speaker 1: of the record politics that we all know about, right,
- 20:22Speaker 1: He's he's he's literally looking at this like fight promotion.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I love that, you know, a different way to approach
- 20:31Speaker 2: to do it.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, were talking about we're talking about approaching it like that.
- 20:36Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like really like build it
- 20:38Speaker 1: in that fashion and and and that's exciting to me,
- 20:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like again, the risk versus reward.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I've never been afraid to step out on faith, you
- 20:47Speaker 1: know what I'm saying.
- 20:48Speaker 2: So, and like, dude, the video has been insane.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Yes, it's working.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I'm saying. You said that that boat,
- 20:57Speaker 2: there's a boat in the video you have and that's
- 20:59Speaker 2: it's it's that's that's Connor's Lamborghini boats.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it looks crazy. Yeah, it's dope.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm glad man shout out to uh the big the
- 21:08Speaker 1: big Mac. You know, let me use his boat, like dope.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Would you say there's any misconceptions about that guy because
- 21:15Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm I would say I'm like a surface
- 21:19Speaker 2: level fight fan, but not like super in it, you know.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I see.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You know now that we've been you know, collaborating, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 1: people like you want to see him fight. You know,
- 21:32Speaker 1: the stuff in the press about the whatever suit or
- 21:35Speaker 1: whatever he's.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Got going on.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You know, look, dude, I gotta look at it like this.
- 21:44Speaker 1: If he can't stay down with the people in their
- 21:47Speaker 1: dark times, you don't deserve to stand up with him
- 21:49Speaker 1: in the light you know facts.
- 21:51Speaker 2: So you know, like he denies the whole thing, Yeah understood.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but I mean there's no criminal charges. You know,
- 21:59Speaker 1: it was a silk suit, So I'm not gonna get
- 22:01Speaker 1: in the middle of it.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I don't want to get into the you know, the
- 22:04Speaker 2: weeds with that.
- 22:05Speaker 1: But right, right, But but I do I do feel like, okay, cool, yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like we just started collaborating,
- 22:12Speaker 1: and from what I've seen, you know what I'm saying,
- 22:14Speaker 1: the dude is doing the best he can.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Great businessman too, Like his whiskey is fucking huge.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think they, I think they actually, you know,
- 22:22Speaker 1: went as far as you know, trying to distance themselves
- 22:25Speaker 1: from Connor McGregor.
- 22:26Speaker 3: And you know, like, dude, you know.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Oh the whiskey company did. Yeah, I saw that right right,
- 22:33Speaker 2: which is crazy because he's just like, like, you know,
- 22:36Speaker 2: there's no well, yeah, I mean, it is what it is.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It is what it is.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But but again I'm I'm I'm I stay down, you
- 22:43Speaker 1: know what I'm.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Saying, like, and and I don't. I don't. I don't.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I don't desert my people in their time of need. So,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you know, shout out to the McGregor family, shout out
- 22:51Speaker 1: to his wife and kids. You know, that's that's who's important,
- 22:55Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I see him actively,
- 22:58Speaker 1: you know, doing that.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And I also feel like there was just
- 23:01Speaker 2: a lot of things that didn't line up with that
- 23:02Speaker 2: whole situation where you look.
- 23:05Speaker 1: But that's not that you can't even get into the
- 23:07Speaker 1: weeks with that either, for sure, you know, what I'm saying.
- 23:09Speaker 1: But but again it's like you know when you when
- 23:11Speaker 1: you make a character judgment and you decide to align
- 23:15Speaker 1: yourself with someone, you know what I'm saying, Like, you
- 23:18Speaker 1: gotta trust your gut, and my gut tells me that
- 23:20Speaker 1: we did the right thing.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Take me back. So you come to LA you were
- 23:28Speaker 2: was there a certain point in time you were in
- 23:30Speaker 2: Was it New Mexico or Arizona.
- 23:31Speaker 3: New Mexico, New Mexican Albuquerque to be exactly.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yes, you end up in Los Angeles. You end up
- 23:43Speaker 2: kind of getting in with the Liquid Crew, which you
- 23:47Speaker 2: would have been like the Licks, King T, the Farii
- 23:50Speaker 2: and those guys. How do you initially get signed Aloud?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Because at that time Loud was they had the I
- 24:00Speaker 2: don't know if they had the Lick Shit. I don't
- 24:01Speaker 2: know were you first or was the Licks first?
- 24:03Speaker 3: Alcoholics are first?
- 24:04Speaker 2: So they had like twenty one and over and Shit,
- 24:06Speaker 2: which was a great album. So was that kind of
- 24:08Speaker 2: your pathway to getting on Steve Riff kids? Like? Uh?
- 24:12Speaker 1: Actually, actually King T put me on first through a
- 24:16Speaker 1: production group called three sixty with James Broadway. Okay, so
- 24:22Speaker 1: that's how I kind of like learned you know, they
- 24:24Speaker 1: were the first people I knew with record deals. So
- 24:28Speaker 1: being around King T is how I met the alcoholics.
- 24:31Speaker 2: And King T's one of them more like I would
- 24:33Speaker 2: say underrated hip hop figures on the West Coast maybe ever,
- 24:37Speaker 2: I mean he's up there, you.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Know, like absolutely, yeah, he's one of the forefathers, like
- 24:41Speaker 1: he was.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Out he's behind so much shit exactly.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Yeah. But King T gave me my first opportunities in
- 24:50Speaker 1: hip hop.
- 24:51Speaker 3: And so.
- 24:53Speaker 1: From there, I never made a demo, I never made
- 24:56Speaker 1: a tape. I never made any of that kind of stuff.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I was only on King T. He's you know, Keing
- 25:01Speaker 1: T for Life album and I did a song called
- 25:04Speaker 1: Freestyle Ghetto and that was that was kind of like
- 25:08Speaker 1: my demo and it was like out on the record.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And so from there, we were doing a show at
- 25:14Speaker 1: Glam Slam, which was Prince's nightclub downtown LA, and we
- 25:19Speaker 1: were about to go out because I used to go
- 25:21Speaker 1: and due to ad libs and support for the alcoholics
- 25:25Speaker 1: on that show and then sometimes I'd be able to
- 25:27Speaker 1: freestyle the stuff at the end if they had a
- 25:29Speaker 1: spot for me, I would get down. And so we
- 25:33Speaker 1: was about to go on and Steve record was acting.
- 25:35Speaker 1: He's like, hey, I want to sign you just like
- 25:37Speaker 1: that crazy and then yeah, we went there and the
- 25:43Speaker 1: next week got it done.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And then when you're working on At the Speed of Life,
- 25:48Speaker 2: you got records on there like Paparazzi in Los Angeles
- 25:51Speaker 2: Times and just an amazing It was like an undergrounded
- 25:55Speaker 2: West Coast album really, because you know, like it was
- 25:58Speaker 2: kind of like I feel feel like, is it safe
- 26:01Speaker 2: to say, like the what you See is What You
- 26:04Speaker 2: Get video kind of like made more the most, Like
- 26:08Speaker 2: it got you the most attention at that time, hm hmm,
- 26:12Speaker 2: because it was it was like a one on one
- 26:14Speaker 2: video is obviously on your second album, But I feel
- 26:16Speaker 2: like At the Speed of Life was a very under
- 26:18Speaker 2: the radar project.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yes, yes, Papa Rozzi was the biggest look from the
- 26:22Speaker 1: first album.
- 26:23Speaker 3: The video.
- 26:23Speaker 1: The video was the Orchestra on the Beach, got a
- 26:27Speaker 1: lot of got a lot of run. I still performed
- 26:31Speaker 1: that song today in my set. What You See Is
- 26:37Speaker 1: What You Get was great on a couple different levels,
- 26:41Speaker 1: Like it showed the creativity that I wanted to have
- 26:45Speaker 1: injected into my visuals and what I was capable of.
- 26:49Speaker 2: For people who don't know it was like the first
- 26:51Speaker 2: one take constant shot video.
- 26:54Speaker 3: No edits, you know there was no it was edits.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Oh there was.
- 26:57Speaker 3: There was thirteen edits in that video.
- 26:59Speaker 2: The chops.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know there's a bunch of stuff in
- 27:03Speaker 1: that video I can point out, but you know, what
- 27:07Speaker 1: you see is what you get. Definitely got creatively out
- 27:14Speaker 1: there and got the conversation going. But you know, it
- 27:18Speaker 1: also allowed me to be put on like, you know,
- 27:21Speaker 1: an award show.
- 27:22Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, or it was.
- 27:25Speaker 1: It was a real big moment, and yes, I was
- 27:29Speaker 1: really excited to go forward from that, but Steve didn't
- 27:33Speaker 1: want to shoot another video and I got so fucking.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Bad because you had the record on there with with meth.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like on that record yeah.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Yeah, which felt like it was like a radio record.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, pussy pop, Pussy Pop. Pussy had the vinyl. Yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 2: My favorite shit on there is three card Moley though, yes, yes,
- 27:58Speaker 2: which is fucking just up there.
- 28:01Speaker 1: But they didn't want to shoot any more visuals. I
- 28:02Speaker 1: got so fucking hot. I was like what He's like, Yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I just gonna make another record.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I was like, We're not then pushing this album?
- 28:09Speaker 3: No, I was like one single, that one.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's crazy when you said, uh, that's like Christopher
- 28:18Speaker 2: Reeves doing the crip walk, man, that's like, that's foul.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we got away with a whole lot of ship, though,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you know, we gotta wait with a whole.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Do you feel like because like that whole pocket of
- 28:35Speaker 2: artists right like, and I feel like even like, uh
- 28:39Speaker 2: we mentioned Afari ev Rocker dilated all those guys, but
- 28:43Speaker 2: I kind of feel like just that pocket of underground
- 28:45Speaker 2: la rap was you, the Licks, King, t the FARII
- 28:49Speaker 2: feel the agony all those guys. I just feel like,
- 28:52Speaker 2: man like that was such a I feel like when
- 28:54Speaker 2: we talk about West Coast hip hop like a lot
- 28:56Speaker 2: of times, like those guys get kind of like left
- 29:00Speaker 2: out of the conversation and they're so like, like your
- 29:03Speaker 2: rap life, Tash's rap life, it's such a great alp.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Okay, So so here's the thing. People have to identify
- 29:12Speaker 1: things by name, right, So if you look at you know,
- 29:18Speaker 1: the g Funk era to death Row era, people know, yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 1: all the exactly people want to name something, right, So
- 29:33Speaker 1: we came after the death Row era and all these
- 29:36Speaker 1: other things. We were right in the middle right before
- 29:38Speaker 1: you know, my era started my graduating class, and so
- 29:43Speaker 1: you know we've started calling it like West Coast Lyricists, right, because.
- 29:49Speaker 2: At that time there's there's like Preestyle Fellowship and you
- 29:54Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Yeah, and even guys like Roscoe and.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you had you know, Crooked Eye was
- 30:01Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, like.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Part of Asia.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah, all these like West Coast lyricists because that was
- 30:07Speaker 1: our that was that was our angle, that was what
- 30:10Speaker 1: we were doing, you know what I'm saying. Like, And
- 30:12Speaker 1: I think that kind of sums it up. So now
- 30:14Speaker 1: you can come to mind and think of all these
- 30:16Speaker 1: other artists that were around that that genre. You know
- 30:20Speaker 1: where I am comes out of.
- 30:21Speaker 2: That graduating Yeah, I mean I think about that. That
- 30:23Speaker 2: first Black Eyed Peas album.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Was yeah for sure, Before that he was signed Ruthless, right, Yeah,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you know will one X.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Yeah that sh.
- 30:33Speaker 2: It's crazy, man, Yeah, it's crazy. So you end up
- 30:38Speaker 2: uh putting out forty Days forty Nights was the black
- 30:43Speaker 2: and white soundtrack before Restless, it was, right, Yes, so
- 30:47Speaker 2: you had the year two thousand song. Mike Tyson was
- 30:49Speaker 2: in that movie, I believe, wasn't he in Black.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And White Yes slapped the ship out of Robert.
- 30:57Speaker 2: How you go from the loud situation and then bridging
- 31:01Speaker 2: it to aligning with Dre?
- 31:04Speaker 3: Huh huh?
- 31:07Speaker 1: Like I said, it goes back to that video that
- 31:12Speaker 1: they shot one video for that album and then told
- 31:16Speaker 1: me to go and make another album.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I was like, we haven't even you.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Know, we haven't even got into the meat and potatoes
- 31:22Speaker 2: of this.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Album, Superman, Superman.
- 31:26Speaker 1: So I was, you know, basically throwing the temper tantrum,
- 31:29Speaker 1: you know, rebelling, you know, fuck that.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I'm not gonna get another album. So I got a call.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Snoop dogg, Hey, I want you to work on this
- 31:42Speaker 1: this record, doctor Dre, gonna do the beat. When when
- 31:49Speaker 1: went to the studio, no limit, top Dog, No limit,
- 31:52Speaker 1: top dog, bitch please came out that ship out of
- 31:58Speaker 1: the out of here, trying a video to it even
- 32:02Speaker 1: more out of here.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Oh ship, he's heating up.
- 32:08Speaker 1: No then uh, you know, got the call again, no
- 32:13Speaker 1: Doc like working with you.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Come through. You know, we want to see what you
- 32:17Speaker 3: can do.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Two thousand and one.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Yeah, two thousand and one, Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 1: He's heating up yo x Hey hey you uh you guys,
- 32:26Speaker 1: what you're doing The next few months, you want to
- 32:29Speaker 1: go on this tour.
- 32:30Speaker 2: I bought tickets. That's the first content I ever bought
- 32:33Speaker 2: real tickets tour. Oh my god, he's on and the date,
- 32:38Speaker 2: the date I went to Q wasn't on it.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Oh man.
- 32:42Speaker 2: But yeah, that was. That was a crazy tour.
- 32:44Speaker 1: So that's the progression. Now, now we got to have
- 32:49Speaker 1: that conversation. I don't want to do another record.
- 32:54Speaker 2: You're on fire?
- 32:55Speaker 3: Fuck that? Yeah?
- 32:58Speaker 1: Fuck that I was. I was definitely feeling myself, but
- 33:03Speaker 1: you know, we had to we had to find a
- 33:05Speaker 1: common ground and uh yeah man, yeah, I'm glad it
- 33:12Speaker 1: worked out the way it did.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I mean it did. Uh what was it?
- 33:16Speaker 5: Like?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Can you take me into the session where you're working
- 33:21Speaker 2: on what's the difference? Because that is we talked about
- 33:26Speaker 2: posse cuts earlier. That's another all timer. You know your
- 33:30Speaker 2: verse obviously Eminem's versus fucking crazy, but I feel like
- 33:34Speaker 2: you're Lyne. What's the difference between me and about five
- 33:36Speaker 2: Baker counts three out of two vehicles? I feel like
- 33:40Speaker 2: just an all time verse on that album. What was
- 33:43Speaker 2: that studio session?
- 33:45Speaker 3: Like?
- 33:51Speaker 1: I think it was at Larrabie. I think it was
- 33:54Speaker 1: at Larrabie and it was like one of the last
- 33:57Speaker 1: things that we worked on before for no, I'm thinking
- 34:04Speaker 1: about the X record. That was my that was that,
- 34:06Speaker 1: that was that record. But in that session, Dre was there,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I think Scott Stortch was there engineers, and I think
- 34:20Speaker 1: I think that's it.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Down.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Oh we didn't hear I didn't hear I didn't hear that.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I didn't hear anything until I laid my verse and
- 34:30Speaker 1: so he's like, you got something for this, yeah, yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 1: And then went over there and uh, you know smashed it.
- 34:39Speaker 1: You know, of course, you know, you know, got the
- 34:42Speaker 1: direction from Dre, you know, made sure that it was
- 34:46Speaker 1: right in the pocket and had everything delivered in the
- 34:48Speaker 1: right way the way he wanted to hear it, and uh,
- 34:52Speaker 1: that was it. So then I think Dre's verse was
- 34:56Speaker 1: on it, you know what I'm saying. And then when
- 34:58Speaker 1: he put it all together, it came out crazy crazy
- 35:02Speaker 1: that could that could That beat was just at the
- 35:04Speaker 1: time when you heard it come on, it was like
- 35:07Speaker 1: it was it was a highlight, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:09Speaker 1: It was it was it was not just like you
- 35:12Speaker 1: know it was at the top of the record. It's
- 35:14Speaker 1: just like Showcase, this is this is gonna be a
- 35:16Speaker 1: big one.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you and Eminem have had some amazing moments on
- 35:21Speaker 2: records together. Don't approach me as.
- 35:23Speaker 3: A great record by the way, thank you?
- 35:25Speaker 2: Uh bitch please to ended up on his album, yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 2: which was random as fuck. Yeah, like, how fuck Eminem
- 35:34Speaker 2: get the second bitch please?
- 35:36Speaker 3: Yeah? It was good.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Can you talk about your guys' relationship because obviously you're
- 35:40Speaker 2: on tour with him to the up and Smoke tour.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Eminem's not quiet Eminem yet, but he's still Eminem. You know,
- 35:46Speaker 2: he came out in the fucking jumpsuit and ship. Yeah yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 2: but what was what was y'all's like friendship like and
- 35:52Speaker 2: and and like. Your guys' chemistry was pretty crazy on songs.
- 35:56Speaker 3: No, it was good, man.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I think we just cut from the same cloth as
- 35:59Speaker 1: far as where our taste in hip hop is right. So,
- 36:03Speaker 1: you know, everybody has their own original way of presenting themselves,
- 36:08Speaker 1: and you know, he's definitely, you know what I'm saying,
- 36:10Speaker 1: one of the greatest you know what I'm saying, And
- 36:14Speaker 1: so seeing him, you know now from then is dope
- 36:20Speaker 1: to be able to see how the integrity of what
- 36:22Speaker 1: he's doing is still intact and still in place. So
- 36:25Speaker 1: you know, we we were definitely were in the same circles.
- 36:31Speaker 1: But you know, I can't say, you know, like we
- 36:33Speaker 1: had like the best of friendship. I think they're like
- 36:37Speaker 1: denying it together. Yeah, yeah, denying and and Royce and
- 36:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, like his family is Paul
- 36:45Speaker 1: and Tracy that you know, like he's he's with his
- 36:47Speaker 1: people's you know what I'm saying. But when we do interact,
- 36:50Speaker 1: it's love, you know what I'm saying, Like, yeah.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Can you speak to like because you got Royce on
- 36:56Speaker 2: the new album? Yes, uh he fucking spazed out a yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 2: Royce is I always tell everybody I think, like at
- 37:03Speaker 2: the skill of rapping, you know, you gotta talk black thought,
- 37:07Speaker 2: you gotta talk question. There's just names that like we
- 37:09Speaker 2: don't hear enough. It's like, yo, like Royce is up
- 37:11Speaker 2: up you know Loop is up there too. I mean
- 37:14Speaker 2: like there's a few. But uh with this new album, man,
- 37:19Speaker 2: you're you're like you are. I don't I don't know
- 37:23Speaker 2: how much I could give away about the album because
- 37:25Speaker 2: you did play it for me and it's not come
- 37:27Speaker 2: until February, but you have a great uh mixture of
- 37:34Speaker 2: like OG's. I guess guys from your class, I would say,
- 37:37Speaker 2: and then you have some new younger artists. But it
- 37:40Speaker 2: didn't feel like See, this is the thing that I
- 37:42Speaker 2: feel like when like artists I grew up listening to
- 37:46Speaker 2: work with younger artists, it feels forced. It feels forced,
- 37:51Speaker 2: and it's just like yo, like I don't want to
- 37:55Speaker 2: hear you on their ship, like I don't mind, you
- 37:59Speaker 2: know what I mean. And so with your new album,
- 38:01Speaker 2: I feel like you brought people to at your world.
- 38:04Speaker 2: And what I appreciate about this project is it feels
- 38:07Speaker 2: like an exhibit album. Yes, it doesn't feel like you're washed.
- 38:15Speaker 2: And I mean that, bro. You know you know what
- 38:17Speaker 2: I'm talking about though, because you'll hear some of these
- 38:22Speaker 2: but you'll hear some of these o gs and they'll
- 38:24Speaker 2: put out some new ship and you'll be like this,
- 38:27Speaker 2: we don't want we don't want to hear this from you.
- 38:29Speaker 2: That's what I appreciated about about the Cube single. It's
- 38:32Speaker 2: my ego. I said, this is some fucking ice Cube ship.
- 38:34Speaker 2: This is what I want to hear from ice Cubes.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I don't want to hear it, you know, Yeah, put
- 38:40Speaker 2: that being said, this album feels like, like you know, the.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Time, I don't think I needed to conform. I don't
- 38:51Speaker 1: think I needed to go set find a new sound
- 38:57Speaker 1: or try to do what's current. I think I just
- 39:00Speaker 1: need to do what I do extremely well. And I
- 39:04Speaker 1: think the quality and standard of people that you know,
- 39:08Speaker 1: like music, that it has it, you know. Like you said,
- 39:12Speaker 1: I think people, regardless of how they know me, regardless
- 39:17Speaker 1: of what they know me from, I deserve one listen
- 39:21Speaker 1: for sure, you know what I'm saying, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 39:24Speaker 1: Before you dismiss it, before you say I fuck you,
- 39:26Speaker 1: fuck him, whatever, you know what I'm saying, or whatever
- 39:29Speaker 1: you want to come and blast the comments or whatever,
- 39:33Speaker 1: just one listen, give it, give it, give it one run.
- 39:37Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I think the game on me.
- 39:41Speaker 2: That you have somehow, you're one of the people who
- 39:48Speaker 2: doctor Dre has always just had uh an insane amount
- 39:54Speaker 2: of love for since you've gotten into his you know circle,
- 39:57Speaker 2: I would say, right, I feel like Dre has always
- 40:00Speaker 2: had your back behind the scenes. I've heard that he's
- 40:02Speaker 2: always had your back. You know, he may or may
- 40:07Speaker 2: not have had your back on this album.
- 40:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 40:12Speaker 2: What what do you do you remember like kind of
- 40:15Speaker 2: like when you and Dre like kind of hit like
- 40:18Speaker 2: a real momentum, like oh, like we're this is this
- 40:21Speaker 2: is like a this is not a music relationship, This
- 40:24Speaker 2: is not a label head relationship. This is like a
- 40:28Speaker 2: brotherhood type shit. You know.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I think over the time that we spent making
- 40:33Speaker 1: those records and then being able to see you know,
- 40:38Speaker 1: that might my outside studio activities were just as strong
- 40:42Speaker 1: as my inside studio activities, meaning that you know, I'm
- 40:47Speaker 1: trying to get the job done. I'm not here for
- 40:49Speaker 1: the bullshit. You know what I'm saying, like to be
- 40:52Speaker 1: an asset. I want to be an.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Asset, not a liability, correct, And.
- 40:56Speaker 1: So that's always been my drive, you know. You know,
- 41:00Speaker 1: sometimes I fail.
- 41:02Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying all that everybody's.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Perfect, but you know I most ninety nine percent of
- 41:09Speaker 1: the time I hate the mark, right, And so now
- 41:13Speaker 1: being able to you know, go forward and you know,
- 41:16Speaker 1: like families be involved and people know, you know, our
- 41:20Speaker 1: personal lives, you know, our you know discussed, you know,
- 41:25Speaker 1: we we built it over time, and you know, I
- 41:28Speaker 1: think that you know, when people get around certain individuals
- 41:32Speaker 1: and they I think people's intentions and you know, whatever
- 41:36Speaker 1: they they override the desire to be a good person, right.
- 41:41Speaker 1: I think he experiences that more than anybody. But he's
- 41:44Speaker 1: he's definitely in ConTroll of his his his circle of
- 41:47Speaker 1: people that he decides to associate with. I'm just you know,
- 41:51Speaker 1: I'm I'm blessed enough to be able to, you know,
- 41:53Speaker 1: have those conversations with him and talk about things other
- 41:57Speaker 1: than music, and you know, I get a little I
- 42:00Speaker 1: get a lot of wisdom and a lot of you know,
- 42:03Speaker 1: like good direction, you know, saying because he's seen it all.
- 42:07Speaker 1: So he's built you know, empires and you know he's
- 42:10Speaker 1: seen him crumble and you don't built him again, you know.
- 42:12Speaker 3: What I'm saying. So there's a lot of there's a lot.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Of good ship you can learn, you know, and discussions
- 42:17Speaker 1: with him, you know, And I'm glad. I'm glad I
- 42:20Speaker 1: had that relationship with him.
- 42:21Speaker 2: When you guys were in those two thousand and one sessions,
- 42:24Speaker 2: did you guys have I mean, it's still dre right.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Should Knight try to drop like the hater chronic two
- 42:30Speaker 2: thousand with the fake snoop?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, that's why, that's why, that's why he named
- 42:37Speaker 1: it two thousand.
- 42:38Speaker 6: And one, not come out two thousand and one, but
- 42:43Speaker 6: but like was like the y'all like because that I
- 42:46Speaker 6: always I do make the argument a lot.
- 42:49Speaker 2: I think two thousand and one age better than the
- 42:50Speaker 2: first Chronic. Like to me, like two thousand and one
- 42:52Speaker 2: sounds like it could have came out today personally for me.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Okay, so if you go listen to Okay, so look,
- 43:00Speaker 1: records are phenomenal, and but you know, if you don't
- 43:04Speaker 1: get the first Chronic, you don't get the second one.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Of course, so the first Chronic, the dynamics to those
- 43:12Speaker 1: mixes are phenomenal because if you listen to that record,
- 43:17Speaker 1: I remember how it shifted everything.
- 43:21Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, that's the tree that just comes from
- 43:23Speaker 2: just that album. It's forever, like.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Come on, man, it's it's it's things on the it's
- 43:30Speaker 1: things on there that kind of set the standard for
- 43:33Speaker 1: like the next ten to twenty years of music.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I mean, fu yeah, I mean my opinion, Dog, your
- 43:40Speaker 2: Style is the greatest, if not the greatest album ever,
- 43:42Speaker 2: it's it's the great I mean, it's it's one or
- 43:45Speaker 2: two for me. Yeah, sure, absolutely, And that obviously is
- 43:49Speaker 2: a direct cause and effect from the chronic. Yes, but
- 43:54Speaker 2: uh yo, what have you have you been able to
- 43:57Speaker 2: sit with missionary?
- 43:59Speaker 3: I have?
- 44:00Speaker 2: I feel like I listened to it the first go round,
- 44:04Speaker 2: right and I was like, Okay, this is first, but
- 44:08Speaker 2: you probably you've already been hearing it.
- 44:10Speaker 3: I was in there.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I was like I was.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I was in there with him listening to it and
- 44:15Speaker 1: listen when I'm biased already.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I love the album.
- 44:19Speaker 3: I'm biased. I love I love I love everything my team.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm saying?
- 44:23Speaker 1: But I think people got to know that Snoop is
- 44:28Speaker 1: a global brand. He is making music. He feels good
- 44:31Speaker 1: right now. He just got done during the Olympics. You
- 44:34Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, like like this is a direct
- 44:36Speaker 1: representation of how good and how much fun he's.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Having and he's but he is also wrapping his ass.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Off so fucking loly. You know what I'm saying. I
- 44:44Speaker 1: heard it through the Big Speak crank. You know what
- 44:47Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, come on, the production is immaculate. Snoop
- 44:50Speaker 1: is at an all time high on his game. You
- 44:53Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like.
- 44:54Speaker 2: I think I think it's an album that like I'm
- 44:57Speaker 2: on my fourth listen at this point and I'm like, yo,
- 44:59Speaker 2: this ship is amazing.
- 45:01Speaker 7: Absolutely to catch you off guard a little, the first list, Yeah,
- 45:05Speaker 7: like you going in with expectations, don't don't go in
- 45:08Speaker 7: expecting it here doggy style, because you know that was then,
- 45:11Speaker 7: this is now.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I think they pulled it off. And that fucking Tom
- 45:15Speaker 2: Petty jelly roll record should be like number one in
- 45:17Speaker 2: the world. Like that song is the fucking smash no
- 45:21Speaker 2: incredible body work. You uh have had so many different
- 45:27Speaker 2: parts of your career, uh, you know, movies, uh, TV,
- 45:32Speaker 2: fucking the music and the music has always been a
- 45:34Speaker 2: constant in some capacity. What's the worst movie you ever
- 45:40Speaker 2: been in? I told ice Cube his worst movie was
- 45:45Speaker 2: a movie you were in by the way that she
- 45:49Speaker 2: was crazy, that she was unbelievable. He said it was
- 45:56Speaker 2: Ghost of Mars, and I was like, probably right, that's
- 45:58Speaker 2: probably worth the Triple X two.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:06Speaker 5: I think I think it's full clip. I think it's
- 46:13Speaker 5: a full clip. I think it is I think I
- 46:16Speaker 5: think it's bad. I think it's really bad.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah, oh bad, oh man, Yeah, yeah, I like the
- 46:27Speaker 1: other you know, but I agree that like Triple X
- 46:30Speaker 1: two was was a turning point for me, right because
- 46:34Speaker 1: it was the first movie role that I had with
- 46:37Speaker 1: a like a major, major motion picture, like.
- 46:41Speaker 2: A blockbuster franchise.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Correct, And it was an offer.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Right, I'm I'm not an actor, you know at this point,
- 46:47Speaker 1: I'm not an actor. Here's a here's an offer. You
- 46:50Speaker 1: want you to be a ice cube triple X? Oh yeah, stunts,
- 46:54Speaker 1: what tanks? Yeah, let's do it. So go do the
- 46:59Speaker 1: film and now it's premier. Now the thing about television,
- 47:03Speaker 1: because you know, they obviously wanted at the time, pim
- 47:06Speaker 1: My ride was at a super hot you know, right,
- 47:10Speaker 1: and so fucking I was gonna put acids in the seats.
- 47:14Speaker 1: So the straight offering never had an acting think. I
- 47:18Speaker 1: was like, I got this. You know, how hard can
- 47:19Speaker 1: it be? I do fucking music videos. Fucking what the fuck?
- 47:23Speaker 1: So I do the film. And then the difference about
- 47:26Speaker 1: TV is that in film is that your face is
- 47:30Speaker 1: like seventy feet high.
- 47:32Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 47:33Speaker 1: So you're looking at your face at the fucking gigantic level,
- 47:37Speaker 1: and you if you don't know what you're doing, it
- 47:40Speaker 1: looks like you don't know what you're doing, right, And
- 47:43Speaker 1: so yeah, I'm you know, I'm looking at this play.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I was like, this is fucking horrible.
- 47:49Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I'm like looking at myself like, ooh,
- 47:53Speaker 3: this fucking night even you know.
- 47:55Speaker 1: It's not that bad, but it's just stiff, and it's
- 47:58Speaker 1: not there's no life.
- 47:59Speaker 3: It's just like.
- 48:02Speaker 2: You know, an actor, Yeah, you're getting through the script.
- 48:05Speaker 1: And I was like, fuck, they let me do this
- 48:07Speaker 1: ship and I was like, okay, so this is never
- 48:09Speaker 1: gonna happen again.
- 48:10Speaker 3: So I'm always going.
- 48:11Speaker 1: To be prepared and I got to take this serious
- 48:13Speaker 1: if I'm because I like the experience.
- 48:15Speaker 3: I love the experience. Right, So.
- 48:19Speaker 1: When uh, I went got an acting coach and she
- 48:22Speaker 1: was little, little, little, little little white lady, gray hair.
- 48:28Speaker 1: She became therapy in these acting coaches because she wanted
- 48:32Speaker 1: she was like, she would let make me talk about
- 48:34Speaker 1: my personal life for like an hour before we even
- 48:37Speaker 1: do that, and say and then she said, okay, where's
- 48:40Speaker 1: the script. And so as we go through the script,
- 48:43Speaker 1: you said, that's somebody from that story, that's somebody from here.
- 48:46Speaker 1: That's what makes it real. You have to start putting
- 48:49Speaker 1: a name to like she pulls apart all these datas
- 48:54Speaker 1: and then she put it on this. She put like,
- 48:56Speaker 1: that's to the person that you just had that argument
- 48:58Speaker 1: with three days and not think about them when you
- 49:01Speaker 1: were saying this line, it's saying talking about this person.
- 49:05Speaker 1: And so that's how I started like really learning from
- 49:07Speaker 1: her and like the things I used to be able
- 49:10Speaker 1: to pick up and so that doing it. A few
- 49:13Speaker 1: years of that, you know, now was ready to do
- 49:16Speaker 1: you know, Grid Iron Gang and de Railed and working
- 49:19Speaker 1: with you know, all these you know, high level directors.
- 49:22Speaker 1: You know, it was really dope to go through that
- 49:25Speaker 1: experience and be able to you know, challenge myself because look,
- 49:29Speaker 1: I started from that, and yeah, it was a good
- 49:31Speaker 1: it was a great opportunity and it led to other things.
- 49:34Speaker 1: But when I took is serious and started really like
- 49:38Speaker 1: focusing on Okay, cool, this is what I'm going to
- 49:41Speaker 1: do now. And that's another thing it took. That took
- 49:44Speaker 1: away from music as well, you know, being able to go.
- 49:47Speaker 2: And like I mean, yeah, I mean that that takes
- 49:49Speaker 2: time if you're going to take acting serious, correct correct.
- 49:55Speaker 1: So I had to kind of had to pivot and
- 49:57Speaker 1: I had to go that direction, and I'm glad I did.
- 50:02Speaker 2: You if I'm just throwing this out and if somebody
- 50:05Speaker 2: took like a legendary West Coast rapper A and ice
- 50:09Speaker 2: Cube and put them on like a crazy East Coast
- 50:11Speaker 2: hip hop sample. It would just be crazy.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Okay, yeah Yo.
- 50:23Speaker 2: There are so many like uh, like my producer asked
- 50:27Speaker 2: you off the air, but there are so many like
- 50:29Speaker 2: rumors about pip My Ride. Yes, there's a whole Reddit
- 50:32Speaker 2: thread of former people who are on pit My Ride
- 50:35Speaker 2: and the one thing I want, well not the one thing.
- 50:39Speaker 2: But first of all, I mean that was a paid
- 50:42Speaker 2: gig for you. You would show up right when the car
- 50:45Speaker 2: was done. I mean it was you know, in and out.
- 50:48Speaker 3: You know what.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Was there any point in time where you knew like, oh,
- 50:54Speaker 2: that car is fucked up? Like that's not that's not sustainable.
- 50:58Speaker 2: There's a fish taking a car. It happens all the time.
- 51:02Speaker 3: I would walking.
- 51:03Speaker 1: I was walking to the sets and after a while,
- 51:07Speaker 1: let's just like, I mean, let's.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Another day at work.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 51:13Speaker 1: But the producers thought that the show needed that. I
- 51:18Speaker 1: was always of the mindset of being like, look, let's
- 51:21Speaker 1: just paint the motherfucker. If we're gonna spend some money,
- 51:25Speaker 1: let's just do something really dope. The exhaust engine, suspension, RIMS,
- 51:31Speaker 1: paint sound system done.
- 51:34Speaker 2: This has been to GMTV, though they got to do
- 51:36Speaker 2: crazy shit done.
- 51:38Speaker 1: I know, I know, but it was like, no, it's
- 51:40Speaker 1: more entertaining when they was like, Yo, I'm pretty sure
- 51:43Speaker 1: these motherfuckers just want.
- 51:44Speaker 3: A dope card to get to work.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Yeah, pick up a girl on a date baby, Yeah, yeah,
- 51:50Speaker 2: for sure. What's the craziest thing, Like you saw them
- 51:53Speaker 2: do to a car where you were just like, guys
- 51:55Speaker 2: like this, who thought of this ship?
- 51:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 51:57Speaker 1: Man, I mean there's no shortage of things, you know,
- 52:01Speaker 1: but I think I think the craziest thing was when
- 52:04Speaker 1: they tried to make that engine run on cooking oil.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they were like, we're going to reinvent the entire
- 52:15Speaker 2: the car was so dope.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I was like, why y'all do that to that fucking car? Yeah,
- 52:20Speaker 1: but but I mean, look, the show was entertaining.
- 52:23Speaker 2: There was was there a video game? Yes, there was
- 52:26Speaker 2: a pit my ride video.
- 52:27Speaker 3: It was there was Yeah.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Yeah was.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Obviously when you get coined to do that show, right,
- 52:35Speaker 2: like you don't know it's going to be a big success,
- 52:36Speaker 2: Like you're like, give it a shot.
- 52:38Speaker 3: So it happened very very very true. You know, we
- 52:40Speaker 3: didn't know what we had to you.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Know, at your peak of pint my ride. You have
- 52:44Speaker 2: a ton of leverage, right, are you? Like, is the
- 52:46Speaker 2: bag just crazy to do an episode?
- 52:49Speaker 1: It got okay, yeah, yeah, but it was nothing compared
- 52:52Speaker 1: to the addict that the advertising revenue.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw that. They we're talking about bringing it
- 53:01Speaker 2: back or it's coming back.
- 53:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Oh, but you're not involved with the with the reincarnation there,
- 53:08Speaker 2: Like if they find another rapper, because I got a
- 53:11Speaker 2: feeling there's going to be like a younger up. What
- 53:14Speaker 2: advice would you give them?
- 53:16Speaker 3: H good luck, good luck?
- 53:21Speaker 2: I love it, yo. Somebody else you're you know, being
- 53:26Speaker 2: on Loud Records, you had some legendary label mates, but
- 53:28Speaker 2: somebody you had a great relationship with and worked with
- 53:31Speaker 2: was Big Pun Absolute You got a pun tattoo? Yes, yes,
- 53:36Speaker 2: and uh, you know pun It is one of the
- 53:40Speaker 2: biggest what ifs ever. You know, I think if he
- 53:43Speaker 2: was still around right now, we'd be looking at him
- 53:45Speaker 2: like he's one of the greatest of all time, because
- 53:47Speaker 2: I think he's one of the grades of all time.
- 53:48Speaker 2: And yes, uh he's you know, by all accounts, one
- 53:52Speaker 2: of the funniest motherfuckers ever. Can you just share a
- 53:57Speaker 2: bit like a big pun store you might have with us.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Hell yeah, okay.
- 54:02Speaker 1: So so we went out on this first promo.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Tour together, right, and so.
- 54:14Speaker 1: We had two buses and we go we go out
- 54:18Speaker 1: and uh, I think we were I think we were
- 54:20Speaker 1: on the East coast working our way through right to
- 54:26Speaker 1: Detroit or somewhere in Flint, somewhere, I don't know, somewhere
- 54:30Speaker 1: right right, we're out together. Their bus breaks down and
- 54:35Speaker 1: so they, you know, puns, like, you know, let me
- 54:38Speaker 1: get my family. He got his family with him. It's like,
- 54:40Speaker 1: let me get on the bus, like we come on,
- 54:42Speaker 1: y'all ride with us. You know what I'm saying. It's
- 54:44Speaker 1: all good, you know, hung out, you know, went to
- 54:48Speaker 1: uh went to the gig, right, So they all on
- 54:52Speaker 1: my bus, right, and so no, we went to the
- 54:57Speaker 1: hotel first. Okay, so I do the night was gonna
- 55:00Speaker 1: be crazy, but I didn't know at the beginning of
- 55:02Speaker 1: the day how.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Crazy it was gonna get.
- 55:05Speaker 1: So they're trying to get to the hotel and get
- 55:08Speaker 1: checked in, so they don't want to be on our
- 55:10Speaker 1: bus anymore because they feel like they're in Pete. I
- 55:12Speaker 1: was like, no, you guys are good, you know, just
- 55:14Speaker 1: just go in a chill, but it's like, nah, we
- 55:15Speaker 1: call a car. So this car pulls up and this
- 55:18Speaker 1: you know, this nigga jump out Jerry Curll, you know
- 55:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Old school?
- 55:23Speaker 1: He got a poop pulled up in a limousine, right,
- 55:26Speaker 1: and so something happened. We all on the bus and
- 55:30Speaker 1: we see this guy pull up and he gets out
- 55:33Speaker 1: with an attitude and it's like watching the Sign of movie.
- 55:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 55:36Speaker 1: We on the bus and were looking out the window
- 55:38Speaker 1: and so it's just like you can tell what a
- 55:41Speaker 1: body like was that he didn't like what was happening.
- 55:44Speaker 1: He was like, you know, you all you motherfuckers can't
- 55:46Speaker 1: get in my car. So, you know, the whole terror
- 55:50Speaker 1: squads went over. It's like a bunch of shit, right
- 55:53Speaker 1: and so and so I see the dude throws hands
- 55:56Speaker 1: up and I'm like, oh, this is not gonna end good.
- 55:58Speaker 1: So did all the tailor squad niggas come. They start
- 56:01Speaker 1: chasing this nigger around the car. It's like the best
- 56:04Speaker 1: shit ever, right, So I was like, oh, it's gonna
- 56:07Speaker 1: be a great night. So we end up getting everything
- 56:11Speaker 1: together and we get over to the venue.
- 56:13Speaker 3: So we the venues.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Packed, super excited, we going first, it's going down. No,
- 56:21Speaker 1: there's a guy named Booby, the boxer that's part of
- 56:24Speaker 1: TS at the time. Booby whatever, you know what I'm saying.
- 56:27Speaker 1: He was on stage with pun You know he's getting down.
- 56:31Speaker 1: We're up on the balcony now, yeah, we're just watching
- 56:34Speaker 1: the show. Place is packed. So there's something going on
- 56:41Speaker 1: in the front row. Booby's addressing something in the front row.
- 56:44Speaker 1: They having another Siglent movie.
- 56:49Speaker 3: Yeah, what it is.
- 56:51Speaker 1: And so then somebody goes off the stage. No, somebody
- 56:55Speaker 1: throws something. Then somebody goes off the stage. Now it's
- 56:59Speaker 1: a fight. Now the fight's coming on stage. And uh, somebody,
- 57:05Speaker 1: somebody from the team pulls out a gun and fires
- 57:10Speaker 1: it right in the air. Yo, this nigga had pulled
- 57:17Speaker 1: out a pulled out of a briefcase BA in the
- 57:21Speaker 1: middle of the stage. No, no, I'm someone everybody in
- 57:31Speaker 1: the first ten rows is you know, it gets stuck.
- 57:34Speaker 1: So everybody's trying to get away. So you just see
- 57:36Speaker 1: like dominoes like people falls and then everybody else turned
- 57:39Speaker 1: around and shout. So we stuck on the balcony. Everybody's
- 57:45Speaker 1: laying down on the balcony and he was like, get
- 57:46Speaker 1: the fuck up. Everybody, get the fuck up and get out.
- 57:49Speaker 3: So then we.
- 57:50Speaker 1: We we we were getting down to go into our bus, right,
- 57:53Speaker 1: we do head count everybody good, all right, all right,
- 57:55Speaker 1: let's go. We get into our bus and they trying
- 57:59Speaker 1: to come up. They coming out the back door. They're
- 58:01Speaker 1: coming out of the back door, so they know everybody's righting.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Everybody's you know, we're trying to get pun you know
- 58:06Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 58:08Speaker 3: So he throw this.
- 58:09Speaker 1: The cops is coming, So he throw the motherfucking thing
- 58:12Speaker 1: in the dumpster. There's no trash in the dumpster. The
- 58:18Speaker 1: niggas just walk right up to it the paslight like
- 58:22Speaker 1: there is Yeah, who threw it? So everybody's in cuss.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Everybody's like, you know what I'm saying. It's like, okay,
- 58:32Speaker 1: cool Joe here, Joe is not here, all right, So
- 58:37Speaker 1: so so end up, you know, got to deal with
- 58:41Speaker 1: that ship.
- 58:41Speaker 3: We get to the hotel and.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Now there's these niggas walking around the hotel looking for
- 58:47Speaker 1: terror squad.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Right, you know what I'm saying, Like like.
- 58:50Speaker 1: People, that was nothing concept and now when I was
- 58:53Speaker 1: niggas walking around, So now we got to run this
- 58:56Speaker 1: covert operation to get everybody on the buses and get
- 58:59Speaker 1: it go. I mean they shot the bus up, busses
- 59:01Speaker 1: up and everything, man, But yeah, it was never a
- 59:05Speaker 1: dupe moment.
- 59:08Speaker 3: Yo.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Something I always wanted to ask you about was what
- 59:14Speaker 2: I think I kind of know what happened, but you
- 59:18Speaker 2: had I mean, you've been a part of some dope situations,
- 59:21Speaker 2: shots to serial killers, but also like there was the
- 59:23Speaker 2: strong Arm Steady ship, and your guys' mixtapes were crazy
- 59:26Speaker 2: and they were very like peaked mixtape era. Shit. It
- 59:31Speaker 2: was kind of like you guys were like kind of
- 59:32Speaker 2: like West Coast gu and.
- 59:33Speaker 3: It low key. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it's dope. Man.
- 59:35Speaker 1: I can't I take I can't take credit for the
- 59:39Speaker 1: mixtapes because they brought me in after they had the idea.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Originally started it was like you Crown, don Ye, Bill
- 59:46Speaker 2: Mitchie Slick, and then they ended up signing with Talib
- 59:51Speaker 2: and then you you kind of exited that situation. And
- 59:54Speaker 2: I remember you and toe Lib weerre cool because you're
- 59:56Speaker 2: on the reflection of Turtle album Down for was it
- 59:58Speaker 2: Down for the count? Oh with Rod Digga? Oh my god,
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: fucking fire amazing song. But did that lead to like
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: some tension between you guys for a while.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Yeah, but it was it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Listen, you know, I think with strong Arm Steady, you know,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: shout out to all the brothers, man. I think when
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: people have ambition and my mind comes from a very
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: genuine place, right. And so when I got involved with
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Strong Arm Steady, I tend to be the kind of
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: leader where I don't explain what I'm thinking or what
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I'm seeing too far down the road because I know,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I know what the goal is. But right now, we
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: just need to do these few steps in order to
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: get to this next thing because I don't want to.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: I don't want to waste time trying to explain something
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: that you can't see, right, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: And so it's a very small group of people that
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: I like to do that with, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: because then executing is simpler when we break it down
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: a smaller task, right. And and you know the maturity
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: of what was happening with the mixtapes was preparing us
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: for a record, right, so boom, you know, TYLERB has
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: this this Blacksmith record right in print with Cory, I believe, right,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: So they approached Phil Phil you know, brought the opportunity
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: to the group. Oh yeah, I just I just I
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: just I shot it down. I didn't feel like there
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: was enough, you know for us to accomplish the kind
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: of record that we wanted, right, So I went to
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: New York and then I was collecting music for us
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: to do a strong, steady record. Right, if we're going
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: to do it, you might as well do it independently
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: with us, you know what I'm saying, and then work
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: for a bigger situation. You know, at least we can
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: all kind of carve out what we need, you know
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I carved it out, came back from uh,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: you know, because I had just you know, I turned
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: it down, right, So somehow it was explained to them
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: that I turned it down, But that didn't mean they
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: couldn't they they they they can still take it, and
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: they did. And I just felt as though, like, guys,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: you know, like you know, after after investing in what
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: we invested in and going around the world and doing
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: all these things, you know, I think you just trust
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: me a little bit, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Did you guys ever, did you ever get to a
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: good place with those guys? Ever again. Yeah, yeah, doing
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: some acting and.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah it's a shame because we had such a
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: great momentum and you know, they they killed it.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: They put out one album. I don't know if it
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: was on Blacksmith or not, but it was fucking crazy.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: But it's it's crazy too because it's like, damn dude,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Like Phil was so fire. I remember that. I remember
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: that the solo song he had on Expansion Team on
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: the Dilated album was so fucking tough.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: For sure.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he had a unique voice, and uh, you know
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: he's still ill. I think he's still moving right now.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I think I just saw something when he's he's got coming.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy. I remember like when I moved to
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: l A, Like one of the guys that wanted the
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: interview was Tofari and I got him on like when
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I was I'm still at Real ninety two three, but
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: when I was like actually working there and not contracted there,
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: I had him pulled up to the show and I
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: was like, yo.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Defar.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: At the Faria album. He's in front of the forum.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, focus, daily, focused days so fucking good. Yeah.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Do you know if THEFARII ever got to because it
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: felt damn near like he was like after math ish
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: for a sec.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I was trying to listen.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Was he a Tommy boy?
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: I signed him? Okay, I signed him the open bar.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I signed him. And then we got close.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I mean, you guys never did an album.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: Though, I never did it, he said.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: After Restless came out and there was a pamphlet inside,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: it was like coming soon.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember, yeah, I got the album and I
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: was like, you.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Don't have an album ready yet. And at the time,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: we're the same age. So if he would have heard
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: that from anyone else, it would have resonated because I
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: said it, all right, I'm as peer and and and we.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Had you know, we had just got done.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: He just got done and off the excitement and adrenaline
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: of me putting out the Restless record, and he's involved
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: in that, he want to come right now. I was like, listen,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: we still got a lot of building to do off
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: this record, and while we're doing the building off this record,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: you can be recording the record that you want. He's like, no,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I'm ready to go right now. I was like, all right,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: just all right, well, let me off the label. Okay,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: there you go.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Could have well, could have that's another what if? That's
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: another what if? Like what if? Like that's the Thefari album.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: I wanted to be here for sure. Yeah yeah, but
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: we were hot headed at the time.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: And you feel like you because I feel like, uh,
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: you know, were you like a hot headed guy during
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: that Oh yeah, like you have like anger issues?
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Would you say absolutely? Yeah? Yes, listen to those records.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: I know, I know, I felt like the exhibit in
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: my head. I just thought this food must just work
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: out and drink. I didn't even know what a triangular
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: push up was exhibiting.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: I want kick in the screaming, that's what, that's what.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: But it was good. I got I got that ship out.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: No, that's fucking crazy man. Shout out to Dafari. Do
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: you still talk to any of like the the Licks
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: or any of those guys.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out to shout out to, Shout out to
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: East West, shout out to j row King, t uh
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: you know, the far right, the whole team, you know,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: rest in peace, beefin biggo Bee, bigga Bee?
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Was was that the that's not biggo Bee's not.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: The uh let's chase infinitus brother?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Chase Infinite is doing this thing man, absolutely
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: behind the scenes, becoming a real legend on He's.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: An executive and we need to protect him at all costs.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: An executive fucking like he's cooking. Yeah, yeah, he's a
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: boss for you. Man. Do you feel like this album
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: scratches the itch? Or are you like, Yo, I'm back?
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: But are you? Are you like?
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Because because the thing is is this is twelve years later,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: thirteen years later probably prosiputs or no that I mean
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: so like, like you said, you're you're involved in music, right,
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: like you're still doing stuff, but like, are you gonna
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: have to wait thirteen years for another exhibit album? Are
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: you like, do you feel like you're back in the
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: game now because this out of work when it drops? Men,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: it's crazy.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, Thank you man, I appreciate it. I
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: feel invigorated, I feel I feel I do that To
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: answer your question, yes, I feel like the void has
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: been filled with this project.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Go and put my best foot forward in promoting and
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: getting in front of the people and presenting this album
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: the way it's supposed to be presented. That's I'm I'm
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: dedicating my time and energy to that that's.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Going to happen.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: But as far as what's going to happen with the
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: next one and the next one and the next one,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a case by case.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I think it's called king Maker for people who don't know, yes, yes,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: what what? Why that name?
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Well, king Maker was decided because it has nothing to
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: do with royalty or riches or any of that kind
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: of you know, stereotypical thought of kings. My meaning behind
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: it is it's a transfer of information. This is about
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: the things that have made me successful, the consistencies, the
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: self discipline, the ups, the downs, you know, my definition
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: of things in the most entertaining way possible that I
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: could see. Right, there's some bucket list items on here, Yeah,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: that I've always wanted to do, haven't been able to
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: do it until now, big, big records that you know
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: are very.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: True to form, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Definitely Yeah, Yeah, And I feel like I'm I feel
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: like I said, I find my voice. I've been able to,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: you know, put things in a way that I feel
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: very comfortable with and I feel are unique and I
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: feel good. I feel like you could it can be
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: put up against any music just out right now?
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I agree. Can you talk to me. You've had so many,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: like you said, you've gone through you speak about some
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: of the stuff on the album, whether it's some of
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: your family stuff being on the tabloids or I mean,
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: I mean, damn, twenty years ago now you know you
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: got to an altercation that was why you got a
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: scar on your face. Now you've had some crazy like
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: lows as well as crazy highs. Can you tell me, like,
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: just like, has there been a moment because I feel like,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: you know, you've grown as a man over the years
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: to the point where, like you said, like this album
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: is like a transfer of information. Was there like a
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: point in time where you felt like you had like
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: an awakening where maybe you were like in a low
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: place where you kind of like you you really kind
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: of had to only depend on yourself to dig yourself
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: out of it. Because with that shit comes a lot
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: of growth.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Absolutely, I think it's a combination of things. You know,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: you know, your family stuff has always found stuff.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I think when you start losing your parents and your
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: grandparents and all that stuff, you know that that's that's
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: it happens to everyone. But then you know, like when
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: you lose a child or something like that. That's a
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: that's a heavy one, right, So that's what that's what
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: happened to me. And you know, I think also the divorce,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, it was just like a
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: series of really horrible events, you know that that just
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: kind of put me in a really dark place. So
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I would really feel like, you know, being able to
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: get back to music was another reason why I needed
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: to be able to find that outlet again.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: You know, did you I can only imagine, you know,
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: losing a kid. That's the ultimate you know, the ultimate thing.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: It's ultimate nightmare.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: It's not the natural order of things.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Do you like, was it was it therapy that helped
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: you get through that? Or was there anything you were
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: able to douse? I can't even I mean, I can't
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: even imagine. Bro Like, like, how do you how do
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: you know, grieve?
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: You got a grief.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta go, you gotta grieve, and you gotta
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: talk about it and you gotta you know, realize what
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: that means and you know, and yeah, it's it's it's
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: one of the things, you know, but death is an
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: our natural part of life, and you know, you you
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: you don't you don't forget, but you know you definitely grow. Yeah,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: you know, and I think that you know, being in
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: that dark place, you know, you have two options. Either
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: you can stay there, or you can and die there,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: or you can stand up and fucking go forward and
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: see you know what life has to offer.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because I mean it is I'm sure very easy
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: to stay in that place.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Yeah, people to lie down and self and self loathing.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: But that ain't that ain't where it's at. You know
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: It's it's easy to die, it's hard to live. You know.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: I always wonder, like, uh, you having like a public
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: to divorce Dre had a public divorce? Is it because
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: I've never I mean, I'm in I'm married right now.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Shot to my wife. Uh, shot to my wife. But
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: I'm saying, like, but I want to like when you
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: get on the other side of that divorce, Like I
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: feel like we when when you're married, right, there's so
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: much of your like self identification that's dependent on like
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: this relationship, right, and then even like what your kids
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: might think or you know, so much was it like
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: the dynamics of getting over that and like being sleeping
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: alone at night again, you know what I mean, and
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: not necessarily having like uh, like your fault, like you
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: don't have the like really knowing the answer to I
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: suppose was that easy to get used to? Would you say, yeah,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: like I'm just gonna go yeah, yeah, yes, like what
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: do I want to do today? Whatever the funk?
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: I was like that.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: It wasn't like right, But you know, here's the things
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: you know, I think you have to You have to
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: be true to yourself. Let me start there. You got
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: to be true to yourself. I watched my father staying
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: in a broken, unhappy marriage.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: And I saw his outcome.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: And we've had long talks about this. He you know,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: he stayed way past what he was. It did a
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: lot of damage internally to the family. I didn't want that.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: I knew where I was, I knew where she was,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: and I couldn't. I couldn't you know what.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like past the point in or return.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, like even going to therapy, you know.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: That couple's therapy trying to save it.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I want to I want a couple of times, you
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But I mean it was like
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: the lady was like you know I shouldn't be saying this,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: but I'm just saying anyway.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: The lady was like, so, uh, how do you feel?
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: I was like, you know, how do you feel about
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: being married? I'm like, I don't want to be agreed,
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: There's nothing wrong with me, you know what I'm.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Saying, Like, maybe I just don't want to Yeah, I.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: Don't want to be married. Yeah, to her like.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Like we're better apart.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly. It was it was you know, it was.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: It was time. There was there was it was time.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: I mean, hey that I think that. I feel like
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: a lot of people, like you said, like are like
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: your dad, like they hang on Yeah, and look, it's
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: not good.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: It's not good for anyone. And and I didn't want
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: my youngest to be to see that tension in me
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: all the time or know that something's in.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: There, something about it.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: Now he's conditioned to live that way.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: That makes sense, right, right, So that's that's I think
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: that's the And then and then on top of it,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: you add that you know things are being put out
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: in the fucking internet or whatever. You know, now everybody's
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: in your business, but don't know ship for sure. You
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, you know, but you know, it's
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: it's how you portrayed this, how what you fed you know.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: But you know, I've I've I've lost contact with you know,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: a significant about of people connected with that, and that's okay.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: That's fine. Yeah, you are also kind of one of
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: the I would say, like one of the guys who
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: I looked kind of kicked off the h being involved
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: in the marijuana industry while being a hip hop artist
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: thing that's happening. I mean, you were behind some really
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: successful brands that ended up I think you told me earlier.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: I won't say that I want to give them any light,
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: but you but I mean, shit, I remember you had
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: the grenades with the fucking giant, fat ass, fucking napalm
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: fucking pre roll in it. What is the latest with
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: you in the weed game?
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Well, we stopped our California production of napalm, so manufacturing, right,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: just shut that down. I think it's a really competitive market.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: It's sure, it's a tough market, right, it is, it is,
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: and the bougiest smokers in the world are here.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Right, So you know, I just parked napon for the moment,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: and now I have two dispensaries it's like, you know,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: instead of building one or two brands, which I've done,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: why not sell everybody.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Ship and then you're not So I always here, I
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: always hear. The hardest part of the weed uh process
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: is the cultivation.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but but I mean it's it's like when
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: you don't know what you're doing.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: Shout out to the homie from Harden like Dane, Yeah, absolutely,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: like they're uh, they don't grow any of them, they're
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: just selling everybody ship.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Correct, And so we we you know, we definitely have
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: a have a foothold and on the culture and and
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: and the blueprint of of what our DNA is and
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: with the culture, so being able to translate that into
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: a store is for the stores. The first store in
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: bel Air, second stores in Chatsworth got the valid in
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: the value right, So you know we've been exhibits West
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Coast Cannabis fucking record deal and want more logo on
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: the building.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Do you still have your og X chain, like the
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: chain from like ninety nine.
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: Yes, I do have it?
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: You do?
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: I do have it? Yes?
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: I told I told you I was. I was like, yeah,
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: bring the old logo bag, yeah, bring that chain back.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: Ship.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: So the new album's coming out in February. Yes, uh,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: it is incredible. Uh man, you got the Who's Who won?
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: There? Yeah?
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Man, for sure.
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: It's a nice blend. It's a nice mixture.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a nice mixture. And I feel like you
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: know any of the Oh and then your son's rapping, yes,
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: and he's rapping capital Yes, So your kid is like
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: is he like rapping?
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: Rapping?
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: Like, is this like something he's pursuing.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he's been. He's been making music since high school.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: Can you has him?
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: You know, shout to the homie Chris Rivers. Have they
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: worked together him in Punsa?
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: Yes? I had Chris Rivers out here.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Chris River's a beast.
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: He is a beast. He's a beast. Yeah, he's a beast.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: You know. Trey Capitol my son. He's twenty nine now.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: So that's just named Tree Capitol Tree Capital. Oh ship,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: that's fine. Yeah. I was like, Yo, who's this You're
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: like it's my son?
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: He's on a song on a Kingmaker album called End
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: of the Day Dope.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: That's super dope. I feel like him and Inhale should
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: do a song be Dope. Nate Dogg's kid is sick.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: Yeah, hell yeah in Hell shout out to in Hell.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, And like you've been running it up doing
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: a lot of show shot to Bobby. I feel like, man,
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: I feel like every three months in Ontario there's just
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: this like fucking summer jam, and then it goes to
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: like Bakersfield and then it goes to like.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: And you're like, come on, man, look look we got.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: Like the show that just happened. Oh my god, it's
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: that ship was crazy.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: But we we have we have we have dedicated people
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: that love what we do. They love the artistic you know,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: you know, things that we put out, and they dedicated.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: They come to the shows, they support us. We love
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: our fans. The people that come to these shows up
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: and down the coast, all the way to the Midwest,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: all the way to the East coast, like we still
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: doing arenas, we're still doing stadium shows.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: Is incredible.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: Great to see. Man. Well, look the album is out.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: You got some songs that are out right now, videos
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: that are going crazy. I'm sure we'll get more details
