1:56
Speaker 7: Now we could turn our attention to my favorite holiday,
1:58
Speaker 7: that would be Thanksgiving. But focus on one thing at
2:00
Speaker 7: a time. Coming up on the show a little bit
2:02
Speaker 7: later on, we're going to get a visit from Mark Carter,
2:04
Speaker 7: who is a Republican running for House in District fifty seven.
2:07
Speaker 7: He'll join us in studio. Also, we're going to talk
2:10
Speaker 7: to our good buddy Joe Stevens from the City of Nitro's.
2:12
Speaker 7: They've got a big beer and chili fest going on
2:15
Speaker 7: tomorrow on the Streets of Nitro and cine financier Eric
2:18
Speaker 7: Tarr will be here as well. And of course we
2:21
Speaker 7: don't have Hannah Gardner this week with our doct meaning
2:23
Speaker 7: please put of the week. However, I do have the
2:24
Speaker 7: pet and Tom Bragg is going to be playing the
2:27
Speaker 7: part of Hannah Gardner. Coming up a little bit later on.
2:29
Speaker 7: Tom's here to talk to from high school football, as
2:31
Speaker 7: is Jeff Jenkins here on WCCHS Jeff, good Morning. We
2:35
Speaker 7: have what promises to be an epic match up between
2:38
Speaker 7: GW and Hurricane. That game in Hurricane and Jeff, you
2:41
Speaker 7: and Aaron Parker will call that game tonight and over
2:43
Speaker 7: on Superstar Country KWS, it'll be Hoover travel at Hedgesville.
2:46
Speaker 7: Talk to Tom in a moment, Jeff, good Morning. Should
2:49
Speaker 7: be a good one tonight in Hurricane.
2:50
Speaker 8: Yeah, so that's this is this is always a good
2:53
Speaker 8: game between these two Hurricane and GW. These are both
2:56
Speaker 8: these are top ten teams in Class Quada and as
3:00
Speaker 8: we know that everybody in Quada makes the playoffs all sixteen.
3:06
Speaker 8: It's just kind of where you fall. And Tom and
3:07
Speaker 8: I were talking off the air, you just want to
3:09
Speaker 8: stay out of the bottom couple positions there because you
3:14
Speaker 8: don't want to have to go in the road to
3:16
Speaker 8: go to Martinsburg. Although Hurkan plays Martinsburg next week to
3:19
Speaker 8: wrap up their season, but you don't want to have
3:20
Speaker 8: to go on the road to play Martinsburg or Spring
3:24
Speaker 8: Mills or you know, two powerful teams. So this is
3:27
Speaker 8: a good match with these are these two teams right
3:29
Speaker 8: in the middle of the pack in Quada in the rankings.
3:32
Speaker 8: They've had good years and they'll play tonight at Hurricane,
3:37
Speaker 8: and it comes down to defense. You know, GW GW
3:41
Speaker 8: has a good defense, solid defense, Steve Everids Junior and
3:45
Speaker 8: so can they hold And we can bring Tom in
3:47
Speaker 8: on this because he knows a lot about it. You know,
3:50
Speaker 8: can they hold the end of that powerful offense of
3:52
Speaker 8: Hurrican down tonight?
3:54
Speaker 9: Yeah, I think that's the key to the game. Talking
3:56
Speaker 9: with Hurricane coach Donnie Mays this week for some things
3:58
Speaker 9: I was working on, he said, much, you know, we
4:01
Speaker 9: have been very good at getting the ball into the
4:03
Speaker 9: end zone. They have been very good at keeping the
4:04
Speaker 9: ball out of the end zone. And whoever kind of
4:07
Speaker 9: shines the most in that'll probably be the one that
4:08
Speaker 9: comes out of this one.
4:09
Speaker 5: Happy.
4:09
Speaker 10: Yes.
4:10
Speaker 8: So if you're George Washington, you're going to try to
4:12
Speaker 8: force turnovers off offensively? Can you play ball control a
4:16
Speaker 8: little bit when you have the ball? Can you keep
4:18
Speaker 8: Hurricane off the field, because Hurricane they score a lot,
4:21
Speaker 8: and they score quickly.
4:22
Speaker 5: Yeah.
4:23
Speaker 7: Usually, Yeah, big strike. It should be a good one
4:26
Speaker 7: tonight again, Jeff, you will, along with Aaron Parker, will
4:29
Speaker 7: have the call from the Land of the Redskins tonight.
4:32
Speaker 7: A lot of people going to be at that game,
4:33
Speaker 7: I'm sure tonight.
4:35
Speaker 8: And I think the weather's going to be great too,
4:36
Speaker 8: because we've got the rain and the clouds this morning,
4:39
Speaker 8: but it's supposed to clear out and have some sunshine
4:43
Speaker 8: by afternoon and be in the upper sixties tonight. And
4:47
Speaker 8: for November first man, you take that, You'll take that
4:49
Speaker 8: all day long. At the end of the high school
4:51
Speaker 8: football season. Yes, so we're looking forward to it tonight.
4:53
Speaker 7: All right, Jeff, I know you've got a lot to do.
4:54
Speaker 7: We'll let you go. I appreciate you being here. Jeff
4:56
Speaker 7: Jenkins again, He and Aaron Parker will have coverage of
4:59
Speaker 7: Hurricane and GW from Hurricane tonight. In that game. Our
5:02
Speaker 7: coverage will start at around seven o'clock to day vlland
5:05
Speaker 7: showing five Anty Live broad to you in part by
5:06
Speaker 7: Morgan and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Thomas Go
5:09
Speaker 7: back to you. You and Murphy have got a pretty
5:12
Speaker 7: long road trip tonight as you're heading to Hedgesville to
5:16
Speaker 7: cover Hoover and Hedgesville. Yeah, well the road trip's going
5:19
Speaker 7: to be today. The game is tonight, But yeah, it's
5:22
Speaker 7: a long should have already left about ten minutes ago.
5:24
Speaker 9: We're gonna head aut he here probably around lunchtime to
5:26
Speaker 9: get up there. Just give us enough time in case
5:28
Speaker 9: anything happens on the road, and time to get something
5:30
Speaker 9: to eat, get settled in up there. But yeah, I
5:33
Speaker 9: haven't been to Hedgesville for a game too before. I'm
5:35
Speaker 9: gonna check one off the list.
5:37
Speaker 7: And there may be people listening right now that are saying, Okay,
5:40
Speaker 7: Hoover's going to Hedgesville exactly where his Hedgesville.
5:43
Speaker 9: Hedgesville, you're going to the eastern Panhandle. You're going out
5:45
Speaker 9: to the suburban DC. I guess there's a lot of
5:48
Speaker 9: people would call it these days, but yeah, it's it's
5:50
Speaker 9: not a closed trip from here, I believe. You go
5:53
Speaker 9: almost like you're going to Hagersville, Haggerstown, Maryland, and go
5:58
Speaker 9: up from Morgantown, hits A go south from there. But
6:02
Speaker 9: it's an interesting game. Headgesville not what they've been in
6:05
Speaker 9: the last few years. Probably a disappointing season in the
6:07
Speaker 9: eyes of a lot of the folks up there, but
6:10
Speaker 9: you know they're they're playing some of the best teams
6:12
Speaker 9: in the state. They've played the Martinsburgs, they played spring
6:14
Speaker 9: Mills next week, they played Morgantown last week, and Herbert Hoover.
6:17
Speaker 9: I know it's a step down in class technically, down
6:19
Speaker 9: into Class Triple A for them, but that's one of
6:21
Speaker 9: the best teams in Class Triple A. So hats off
6:23
Speaker 9: to them for having a pretty stacked schedule. It just
6:25
Speaker 9: hasn't gone their way for Hoover. The key tonight, can
6:28
Speaker 9: you keep the momentum going with this long road trip.
6:30
Speaker 9: It's a team, it's a pretty senior heavy team. These
6:33
Speaker 9: guys have played a lot of road games, a lot
6:34
Speaker 9: of road games in the playoffs over the years. Probably
6:37
Speaker 9: be a similar feel for that tonight. But it's just
6:39
Speaker 9: a question can you come out and get it done
6:41
Speaker 9: when the lights turn on and keep that momentum going.
6:43
Speaker 9: Talking with Joey Fields this week, his big key is
6:45
Speaker 9: at this time of the year, are you getting better
6:46
Speaker 9: or are you getting worse? And if you're getting worse,
6:48
Speaker 9: things aren't going well for you. He wants to keep
6:50
Speaker 9: getting better. We'll see how they do tonight.
6:52
Speaker 7: And at this time of years, everybody's thinking about playoffs
6:55
Speaker 7: right now. Oh yeah, everybody's looking ahead. And of course
6:57
Speaker 7: obviously you know, you don't want to get people hurt,
7:00
Speaker 7: and you don't want to get you know, and you
7:01
Speaker 7: don't want to you know, appear too confident or whatever.
7:04
Speaker 7: Sure you could see a situation if who if, And
7:07
Speaker 7: that's a big if. That's why you play the game.
7:08
Speaker 7: Joey probably wouldn't like to hear me saying this right now,
7:11
Speaker 7: but if you get ahead enough that you might look
7:12
Speaker 7: at maybe pulling some players, so you don't get people hurt.
7:15
Speaker 9: Yeah, I think you've seen that. The last couple of weeks. Actually,
7:17
Speaker 9: Hoover's ran out to some some pretty lopsided scores, and
7:20
Speaker 9: you've seen a lot of guys that weren't necessarily getting
7:23
Speaker 9: as much playing time early in the year, and maybe
7:25
Speaker 9: some of the closer games getting in there making and
7:27
Speaker 9: making some plays. One of the things that has really
7:30
Speaker 9: helped Hoover more than anything this year now, and hats
7:33
Speaker 9: off to all the coaches and players, they've been fantastic.
7:35
Speaker 9: This team has been almost oddly healthy throughout the season.
7:39
Speaker 9: Oddly healthy, yes, well, it just you play this much
7:42
Speaker 9: football this deep into the season, you expect somebody sure
7:45
Speaker 9: to take some bumps and some bruises, and there have
7:47
Speaker 9: been bumps and bruises, but none of these guys have
7:48
Speaker 9: missed any major time. The kicker at Hoover missed a
7:52
Speaker 9: couple of games with a thing he had going on,
7:53
Speaker 9: but that's been about it. So knock on wood for
7:56
Speaker 9: the Huskies. They've been really healthy this season. You hope
7:59
Speaker 9: to be healthy this time year, You hope to be
8:00
Speaker 9: playing your best ball. It seems like that's what they
8:02
Speaker 9: have going right now. Dave, but this is a long
8:04
Speaker 9: road trip. They got another long one against Weird next week.
8:07
Speaker 9: It'll be an interesting test these last couple weeks of
8:09
Speaker 9: the regular season for Yeah.
8:10
Speaker 7: Indeed and again, our coverage starts tonight at seven, yes,
8:13
Speaker 7: seven o'ven o'clock. You and Murphy will be up in
8:16
Speaker 7: Hedgesville to call the game tonight. I do want to
8:17
Speaker 7: mention that our thoughts and prayers go out to our
8:20
Speaker 7: buddy Chris Lawrence. You may be wondering why you haven't
8:22
Speaker 7: heard Chris on the air this week and why he's
8:24
Speaker 7: not calling the Hurricane in g W game tonight. Chris
8:27
Speaker 7: mother passed away earlier this week in his home city
8:30
Speaker 7: of Virginia. So again, our thoughts and prayers or mister
8:32
Speaker 7: Lawrence and his family. I know he was Chris, a
8:37
Speaker 7: big family guy, and his mother had been ill and
8:40
Speaker 7: she passed away this week. It's why you haven't heard him.
8:42
Speaker 7: As I said on the morning news, while Jeff is
8:44
Speaker 7: being called into duty tonight for the Hurricane g W game.
8:46
Speaker 7: So again, our thoughts and prayers are out to our
8:49
Speaker 7: good friend Chris Lawrence on the loss of his mother.
8:53
Speaker 7: The Dave Island showing five dye Live brought to you
8:55
Speaker 7: apart by your hometown baseball chief, the Charleston dirty Birds.
8:57
Speaker 7: Listen for more information coming soon, just a couple of
9:00
Speaker 7: weeks away from the Selango Lung Light the night Over
9:03
Speaker 7: at the Ballpark. For more, you can visit dirty Birds
9:05
Speaker 7: baseball dot com. I do want to mention that after
9:07
Speaker 7: the game, of course, stick around the night for Fred
9:09
Speaker 7: Pursinger Dave Jack Oi Metro News Game night. All right,
9:11
Speaker 7: So Hannah Gardner from the Cannaal Charleston new Man's Association
9:14
Speaker 7: not here today. She and Angie, who kind of pinches
9:18
Speaker 7: for her from time to time, both had some prior
9:21
Speaker 7: commitments so they were not able to be here. So
9:23
Speaker 7: the part of Hannah Gardner will be played by Tom Bragg.
9:26
Speaker 7: Are you excited about this?
9:27
Speaker 9: We'll see how it goes. I like dogs. The picture
9:29
Speaker 9: you sent me man, what a good looking dog, and
9:30
Speaker 9: I'm looking forward.
9:31
Speaker 7: To that our dog. This week. We're trying to get
9:33
Speaker 7: a DoPT that. His name is Felix, and I've got
9:36
Speaker 7: the pictures always posted on Dave Alan Radio, on Facebook
9:39
Speaker 7: and at Dave a seventy on X. The artist formerly
9:43
Speaker 7: known as Twitter. Felix is the dog's name Tommy's a
9:46
Speaker 7: six year old male, came in as astray. He is newtered.
9:51
Speaker 7: He is very very kid friendly, Hannah tells me. A
9:55
Speaker 7: very energetic, very playful, housebroken, very smart. A bit shy
10:01
Speaker 7: at first, but he will warm up to you. Probably
10:03
Speaker 7: could use a little bit of training on the leash.
10:05
Speaker 7: He's a big boy, tom he's about uh, he's about
10:08
Speaker 7: eighty two pounds. But Felix is a good looking dog.
10:10
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, we could all probably use a little training
10:13
Speaker 9: on the leash. We say that to our dog at
10:14
Speaker 9: home all the time. He's a he's a sweetheart, but
10:16
Speaker 9: he just needs a little little work on the manners.
10:19
Speaker 9: So nothing to ding Felix on here. He's a real
10:22
Speaker 9: good looking dog, kid friendly. He's already been neutered. You
10:25
Speaker 9: don't have to worry about it. Is he's going to
10:26
Speaker 9: go be allowed to go to dog parks? Is he
10:28
Speaker 9: going to be allowed to go to doggy daycare? Things
10:30
Speaker 9: like that ours ours at home isn't yet. So it's
10:32
Speaker 9: things things we've got to consider. So it's something to
10:36
Speaker 9: keep in mind. I love the little mask that he's
10:38
Speaker 9: almost gotten with the black around his eyes.
10:41
Speaker 7: They did that at the shelter for Halloween U and
10:44
Speaker 7: they did a lot of their their their pets like that.
10:46
Speaker 7: They did a really good job on that though, because
10:47
Speaker 7: he is a good looking guy. He is indeed again
10:50
Speaker 7: he's about eighty two pounds. Felix is a six year
10:52
Speaker 7: old male. Uh, he's ready to go home. He's house broken,
10:55
Speaker 7: he's neutered, he's ready to go. A couple of notes
10:56
Speaker 7: from the Humane Association we do want to throw out there.
10:59
Speaker 7: First of if you follow them on Facebook, they had
11:03
Speaker 7: to take in in conjunction with the Putnam Animal Shelter,
11:07
Speaker 7: about nineteen or so parvo dogs. And so with that,
11:11
Speaker 7: they are in need of things that we don't generally
11:15
Speaker 7: talk about, Hannah. We know that they are always in
11:17
Speaker 7: need of food and older blankets and things of that nature.
11:21
Speaker 7: They also need things like IV lines and catheters, so
11:27
Speaker 7: generally speaking, things people don't have around. But if you'd
11:30
Speaker 7: like to go purchase any of those things and drop
11:33
Speaker 7: them off to the shelter, I'm sure that they would
11:35
Speaker 7: appreciate that, or just make a cash donation on those things. Again,
11:39
Speaker 7: they took about nineteen parvo pups in yesterday in conjunction
11:43
Speaker 7: with the Putnam Animal Shelter. So they're looking for those
11:46
Speaker 7: things right now. Also, they are always in need of,
11:49
Speaker 7: as I said, dog food, purina, puppy chow, things of
11:52
Speaker 7: that nature. So if you can help them out with that,
11:55
Speaker 7: I'm sure that they would appreciate it. Also, they tell
11:57
Speaker 7: us that they have a Boo Bash even or we're
12:00
Speaker 7: over Halloween, We're going to continue this of the month
12:02
Speaker 7: of November a boo Bash adoption special where adult kennel
12:06
Speaker 7: dogs six months in older are at no costs and
12:11
Speaker 7: kats and kittens are fifty percent off. This is going
12:13
Speaker 7: to end though, on Sunday, so please make note of that.
12:17
Speaker 7: But again, our dog, our adopt me. Please pedt of
12:19
Speaker 7: the weeks time just told you Felix. He's a six
12:21
Speaker 7: year old male. He's neutered, came in as a stray,
12:24
Speaker 7: very kid friendly, very energetic, very playful, incredibly smart dog.
12:28
Speaker 7: Handah tells me a bit shy at first, but he'll
12:30
Speaker 7: get over that. He is house broken. He's a big
12:32
Speaker 7: old boy, about eighty two pounds. So if you're interested
12:35
Speaker 7: in Felix, head on over to my Facebook page Dave
12:37
Speaker 7: Allen Radio or my ex page which is at Dave
12:40
Speaker 7: A seventy and you can take a look at Felix.
12:43
Speaker 7: Maybe you and Murphy should go get Felix and take
12:45
Speaker 7: him on the road to hedges Go that way, you
12:46
Speaker 7: don't have to talk to each other.
12:47
Speaker 9: You can just talk about the dog. You know, we
12:49
Speaker 9: could probably figure that out. Felix is a good dog name,
12:51
Speaker 9: he said, a good looking guy. We could probably get
12:53
Speaker 9: rid of him between here and Hedgesville. Although I'm such
12:56
Speaker 9: a sucker for dogs. If we put him in the car,
12:57
Speaker 9: he'd probably end up coming home with.
12:59
Speaker 7: It, indeed will. But all right, Tom, you guys have
13:01
Speaker 7: a great broadcast tonight up in the Hedgesville almost in
13:04
Speaker 7: DC tonight. Be safe out there, all right, Tom Bragg again,
13:07
Speaker 7: he and Matt Murphy will have the call tonight for
13:11
Speaker 7: Hoover at Hedgesville tonight on ninety six to one kws.
13:14
Speaker 7: And speaking of ninety six to one kws, our man
13:16
Speaker 7: Rob Reel wrapped up his walk to Morgantown yesterday and
13:20
Speaker 7: there's I mean, they had a big fanfare, big party,
13:22
Speaker 7: big parade for him up there when he got to town.
13:24
Speaker 7: With that check for about one hundred and seventy two
13:26
Speaker 7: thousand dollars for WU Children's or hats off to Rob.
13:30
Speaker 7: He completed his walk from Charleston to Morgantown and again
13:34
Speaker 7: big fanfare up the children's hospital yesterday. He's resting up
13:37
Speaker 7: a bit right now, although he was back in the
13:39
Speaker 7: studio and on the air this morning. I do want
13:41
Speaker 7: to mention that today is Rob's birthday as well, so
13:43
Speaker 7: he's celebrating his birthday in a tub of absence salt probably,
13:47
Speaker 7: But Rob, happy birthday, buddy, and congratulations. We're all proud
13:51
Speaker 7: of you, you know, for what you did raising or
13:53
Speaker 7: actually take the listeners, raised the money. He delivered the
13:57
Speaker 7: check for one hundred and seventy two thousand dollars to

18:34
Speaker 7: The the Cowboys? How much time you got?
18:38
Speaker 8: Uh?
18:40
Speaker 15: Yeah exactly? I just uh is there?
18:44
Speaker 2: You know?
18:44
Speaker 15: I was going to put a ad out here for
18:47
Speaker 15: a running back or something or I don't know.
18:49
Speaker 7: Well, Duran Bland comes back this week and the Cowboys
18:52
Speaker 7: are at Atlanta, and uh, we'll see. You know, Bland
18:55
Speaker 7: was the uh uh was the leading interceptor last year
18:58
Speaker 7: in the league, but do believe and kind of came
19:00
Speaker 7: out of nowhere with that and he's back this week.
19:02
Speaker 7: I don't know about Michael Parsons yet, but we got
19:05
Speaker 7: a tough one in Atlanta this week. I want to
19:07
Speaker 7: ask you though about before we talk Chilean beer, I
19:10
Speaker 7: want to talk about baseball, because I know you're a
19:12
Speaker 7: big baseball guy. What'd you think about the Yankees and
19:14
Speaker 7: the Dodgers the other night?
19:16
Speaker 4: I loved every single minute of it. Well, my birth
19:19
Speaker 4: certificate growing up in Baltimore, there was a provision in
19:23
Speaker 4: one every birth certificate that said val shall never root
19:27
Speaker 4: for the New York Yankees or Washington Redskins, and they
19:31
Speaker 4: hold true to that age.
19:34
Speaker 15: I really do. Let's go Dodgers. Ha. You gotta feel
19:38
Speaker 15: good for Freddie Friedman.
19:39
Speaker 2: You do.
19:40
Speaker 7: Indeed, I have to say you got it. Freddy just
19:42
Speaker 7: went lights out during that series. And for all the
19:45
Speaker 7: people you mentioned our combined love of the Dallas Cowboys,
19:48
Speaker 7: you and I. For all the people that sent me
19:50
Speaker 7: that meme about Aaron Judge being Baseball's answer to Dak Prescott,
19:54
Speaker 7: I really appreciate that. I really really do, because he
19:57
Speaker 7: had a He was like Dak Prescott in the playoffs.
20:00
Speaker 7: Was mister Judge during the World Series. But enough about sports.
20:03
Speaker 7: I want to move on to tomorrow. Over a to
20:05
Speaker 7: Nitro Living Park. It's the annual Wagging Tails and Nitro
20:09
Speaker 7: Ales event. It's a beer fast chili cookoff. Proceeds will
20:12
Speaker 7: help out our area animal rescue programs. And if you're
20:15
Speaker 7: a chili head, Joe, this is the real deal Tomorrow
20:19
Speaker 7: and Nitro.
20:21
Speaker 4: Without a doubt, and the majority of the cooks that
20:25
Speaker 4: will be participating in Tomorrow's cookoff, which is occurring on
20:28
Speaker 4: Second Avenue right there at Living Memorial Park. The majority
20:32
Speaker 4: of the cooks have participated in the World Championships in
20:36
Speaker 4: years past, and the winners in the three categories to
20:40
Speaker 4: Home Style traditional red and green chili verdie all will
20:45
Speaker 4: represent the cookoff at the twenty twenty five World Championships
20:49
Speaker 4: that will be held in Myrtle Beach. So if you
20:53
Speaker 4: want some really really good chili, come on out to
20:56
Speaker 4: Nitro on Saturday, right there on second Avenue of it
21:00
Speaker 4: up for you.
21:01
Speaker 7: And this is as I said, I called it the
21:02
Speaker 7: real deal for chili folks, because this is a nationally
21:06
Speaker 7: sanctioned event, right.
21:08
Speaker 10: Uh.
21:09
Speaker 4: The International Chili Society yes that it is a tanctioned event,
21:13
Speaker 4: which means the winners can now proceed to the World Championships.
21:18
Speaker 4: On one charity that we don't want to fail to
21:23
Speaker 4: mention is that when you when you go and vote
21:26
Speaker 4: for People's Choice, which is up to the public that
21:30
Speaker 4: is attending the event, you buy dog bones from you
21:35
Speaker 4: buy a bag of dog bones, and you vote with
21:37
Speaker 4: the dog bones, and you purchase those dog bones from
21:39
Speaker 4: the great folks at Hospice. And every cent that you
21:43
Speaker 4: that you spend on People's Choice dog bones goes straight
21:48
Speaker 4: to Hospice. Nothing goes to the operation of the Chili
21:52
Speaker 4: cook Golf or anything. All the proceeds going straight to Hospice.
21:55
Speaker 7: And the weather is going to be great, although when
21:58
Speaker 7: you're talking chili and beer in the fall, you may
22:00
Speaker 7: want it to be a little bit cooler. But the
22:02
Speaker 7: rain that we've got today is going to move out
22:04
Speaker 7: of here later this afternoon, and by tomorrow it's just
22:06
Speaker 7: going to be a picture perfect weather. It could stand
22:08
Speaker 7: to be a little bit cooler just for the whole
22:10
Speaker 7: atmosphere of the thing, but overall, you can't complain about it, Joe.
22:14
Speaker 4: When it's not raining and you're having an outdoor event,
22:19
Speaker 4: you know, you take what you get and we'll be
22:22
Speaker 4: enjoying every second of it. The big red tap truck
22:26
Speaker 4: will be on hand, the same operation we had last year.
22:30
Speaker 4: We have a lot of West Virginia craft beers and
22:34
Speaker 4: some nationally brewed beers available. We have some food trucks.
22:40
Speaker 4: Just it's a fun time, Dave. I know you won't
22:43
Speaker 4: be able to be with us this year, but you've
22:46
Speaker 4: been here a couple of times and you've seen it's
22:48
Speaker 4: just a lot of fun, a lot of folks coming around. Hey,
22:51
Speaker 4: the Putnam County, in fact, that Putnam County Animal Shelter
22:54
Speaker 4: will be on hand and they are bringing a few animals,
22:57
Speaker 4: dogs and cats that you can adopt right on the spot,
23:01
Speaker 4: so that'd be pretty cool too.
23:02
Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, And as Joe mentioned, I've had a chance
23:06
Speaker 7: with end this in the past. Last year I was asked,
23:08
Speaker 7: I was very honored to be asked to serve as
23:09
Speaker 7: a judge for this thing. I am going to have
23:11
Speaker 7: to miss it this year. I'm also going to have
23:13
Speaker 7: to miss the annual Mac and Cheese Cookoff, which is
23:15
Speaker 7: going on over at Capitol Market tomorrow. I'll be out
23:18
Speaker 7: of I'll actually be out of state this weekend. I
23:21
Speaker 7: hate to miss not one, but two great food events
23:24
Speaker 7: because they're both going on tomorrow and by the timing
23:26
Speaker 7: of this thing, and a lot of people did this
23:28
Speaker 7: last year. I was over at Capitol Market for the
23:30
Speaker 7: Mac and Cheese Festival and then jumped in the vehicle
23:32
Speaker 7: and drove to Nitro. I saw a lot of the
23:34
Speaker 7: same people at both. So bottom line is, if you're
23:37
Speaker 7: a foodie, this is a great weekend here for the Kanaal.
23:40
Speaker 15: Valley, no doubt about it.
23:43
Speaker 4: And then when's the last time you've seen a weekend
23:46
Speaker 4: go by in the Canal Valley from Barbersville to Charleston.
23:52
Speaker 4: That something isn't going on. And if you can't find
23:55
Speaker 4: something going on you're not looking.
23:57
Speaker 7: That's on you. If you can't find anything to do,
23:59
Speaker 7: that is on you. Dave Aland showing five any line

24:21

24:22
Speaker 4: Well?
24:23
Speaker 15: One, it's a free emission.
24:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, the four letter F word that you can
24:28
Speaker 4: say on the radio.
24:31
Speaker 15: Free admission.
24:32
Speaker 4: But with that said, you will go to the only
24:37
Speaker 4: place you're you're actually spending money is one at the
24:40
Speaker 4: hospice tent where you're purchasing dog bones to vote, and
24:46
Speaker 4: the hospice sets the price on net and it's very minimal,
24:49
Speaker 4: very very very minimal. And you'll get uh and you'll
24:52
Speaker 4: get some tickets, pasting tickets, and you go around to
24:55
Speaker 4: the various cooking boots and tables and you will try
25:00
Speaker 4: them out and you can vote with your you can
25:02
Speaker 4: vote with your dog Bones, and of course with the
25:05
Speaker 4: adult beverages. Yes, you will need to bring your idea.
25:08
Speaker 4: You will get your wristband and you will get your ticket,
25:11
Speaker 4: and then you can.
25:14
Speaker 15: The legislation.
25:15
Speaker 4: You know, you and I we sometimes knock on the
25:19
Speaker 4: proverbial what are you thinking about door with the state legislature.
25:24
Speaker 4: But a couple of years ago they came up with
25:25
Speaker 4: a one day festival license. And it's so easy to
25:29
Speaker 4: work with the beverage control folks for a one day license,
25:33
Speaker 4: and and they make sure everything is run accordingly and
25:37
Speaker 4: we can walk around and enjoy ourselves with an adult
25:39
Speaker 4: beverage or we might have a liminat or too for
25:42
Speaker 4: you too.
25:42
Speaker 7: A lot of different things there, even if you're not
25:44
Speaker 7: into chili or beer. There's a lot of different things available,
25:46
Speaker 7: different types of food. And there's all kinds of other
25:48
Speaker 7: vendors there too. I mean there's last year, That's what
25:50
Speaker 7: I was kind of blown away by was the number
25:52
Speaker 7: of other vendors that were there, just all kinds of
25:54
Speaker 7: cool stuff there.
25:57
Speaker 4: We've got quite a few craft vendors that will be here,
26:00
Speaker 4: and we have a lot of information vendors that are
26:04
Speaker 4: on hand, and UH will be giving out information. One
26:08
Speaker 4: of the one of the groups is the Core Group,
26:11
Speaker 4: which works with transplant donations uh uh uh and and
26:17
Speaker 4: that sort of thing. And but also, you know, something
26:21
Speaker 4: like this can't go without sponsors, and we've got just
26:24
Speaker 4: a great group of sponsors. We've got tutors and Geno's
26:28
Speaker 4: are are stepping up. Uh. Cook's Crematorium, Pet Crematorium will
26:33
Speaker 4: be helping out lineex uh of Nitro. They're helping out
26:38
Speaker 4: the Putnam County CVB, of course, the Nitro CVB, the
26:42
Speaker 4: City of Nitro, C four impressed.
26:45
Speaker 6: Uh.
26:46
Speaker 4: Just a lot of folks really making sure. And if
26:49
Speaker 4: you're if water is on your palate that the uh
26:52
Speaker 4: uh West Virginia American Water Van that you can just
26:56

27:00
Speaker 4: Virginia water.
27:01
Speaker 7: All right, sounds like a good time. What time does
27:02
Speaker 7: everything get underway tomorrow, Joe.
27:05
Speaker 4: Well, we'll be setting up bright and early, or dark
27:09
Speaker 4: and early as it may be, around six thirty seven o'clock.
27:11
Speaker 4: But things will be getting underway about ten thirty eleven o'clock.
27:17
Speaker 4: They'll be cooking and setting up. But then Randy Gammern,
27:21
Speaker 4: a longtime friend of ours, will be providing all the music.
27:26
Speaker 15: And end seeing for the day. So come on down
27:29
Speaker 15: and see Randy two.
27:31
Speaker 4: But right around ten thirty eleven o'clock we'll be firing
27:34
Speaker 4: everything up.
27:35
Speaker 15: As it may be.
27:36
Speaker 7: All right, Joe, I hate, I regret that I'm going
27:38
Speaker 7: to have to miss it this year, but I'll be
27:40
Speaker 7: there next year hopefully. Good luck with everything tomorrow. Man,
27:42

31:41
Speaker 7: in the Palm Maarstore studio. Mark, good morning, welcome to
31:43
Speaker 7: the show.
31:44
Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave, and thank you very much for inviting
31:47
Speaker 5: me back in.
31:48
Speaker 7: Let's talk about the district. Explain the district to US.
31:50
Speaker 7: District fifty seven.
31:51
Speaker 5: Well, District fifty seven is an urban district. It's pretty
31:54
Speaker 5: unusual for our state. It is the residential area of
31:58
Speaker 5: Charleston south of the River of courdor g at South Charleston.
32:02
Speaker 5: It's Dunbar.
32:04
Speaker 7: It is.
32:05
Speaker 5: It's a very diverse district, and I mean that in
32:08
Speaker 5: all senses of the word. We have a good deal
32:11
Speaker 5: of diversity with regard to economic status. We have a
32:14
Speaker 5: good deal of diversity with regard to the safety in
32:17
Speaker 5: the communities and those are some of the things I'm
32:20
Speaker 5: hearing a lot about when I go door knocking, Dave,
32:23
Speaker 5: I'm hearing about the struggle to pay bills, given inflation
32:31
Speaker 5: and given the pay rates in our state. We're forty
32:36
Speaker 5: ninth in the nation in terms of wage scales. People
32:39
Speaker 5: are frustrated and they're some of the people are very scared,
32:43
Speaker 5: and that is that's a tremendous concern to me. I'm
32:46
Speaker 5: also hearing a lot about crime, and that's of tremendous
32:49
Speaker 5: concern to me as well, because one of the things
32:52
Speaker 5: that I've seen out in my district is everybody's got
32:55
Speaker 5: a ring doorbell. Everybody's going to ring doorbell today. And
32:59
Speaker 5: some of the folks who have answered their doors have
33:01
Speaker 5: told me why. The reason why is people are afraid
33:04
Speaker 5: to open up their door. People are afraid because of
33:08
Speaker 5: the rates of crime in their community, the number of
33:10
Speaker 5: times that their vehicles have been stolen from there's unease,
33:15
Speaker 5: and so they want to talk to me about that.
33:17
Speaker 5: I want to talk about that with them too. I
33:19
Speaker 5: want to talk about solutions.
33:21
Speaker 7: If you are elected to the House, what can you
33:24
Speaker 7: do about the crime issues in West Virginia.
33:26
Speaker 5: Well, there's a lot that we can do about the
33:28
Speaker 5: crime issues. Number one. I want to mention this because
33:31
Speaker 5: it's such a pervasive problem, and I've spoken with the
33:34
Speaker 5: mayor of Dunbar about it, who had a tremendous amount
33:36
Speaker 5: of success when he started raising buildings that were abandoned
33:41
Speaker 5: and were being used by squatters who were engaged in
33:45
Speaker 5: crime to either use as a residence or to fence
33:49
Speaker 5: stolen property. When he raised several buildings in his hometown there,
33:56
Speaker 5: the crime rate went down. I think we need to
33:58
Speaker 5: do more of that. They heard our property value and
34:01
Speaker 5: they provide shelter for criminals. But more importantly with regard
34:05
Speaker 5: to crime, we have to support our law enforcement community.
34:08
Speaker 5: Our law enforcement community is asked to do a lot
34:11
Speaker 5: with very little resources. The amount of resources they need
34:16
Speaker 5: to keep themselves safe as well as to appropriately do
34:20
Speaker 5: their job is a tremendous expense, and they have to
34:25
Speaker 5: be supported with those basic conventional policing tools that have
34:30
Speaker 5: worked for hundreds of years now in our country, and
34:34
Speaker 5: we need to We need to make sure that we're
34:36
Speaker 5: supporting them and not diverting the money to other types
34:40
Speaker 5: of things that don't work. And we've done too much
34:43
Speaker 5: of that.
34:44
Speaker 7: Give us, Give you men.
34:44
Speaker 5: Examples of those things, well, one of them is a
34:47
Speaker 5: crisis intervention teams. I mean I wrote about this on
34:50
Speaker 5: my campaign Facebook page as well as my own Facebook page,
34:54
Speaker 5: and it became an issue to me because I recall
34:57
Speaker 5: a text asking my opponent on your show, oh earlier
35:00
Speaker 5: this week, do you defund the police? And I have
35:04
Speaker 5: no idea whether he supports defund the police or not.
35:08
Speaker 5: Defund the police, of course, as a slogan which became
35:11
Speaker 5: a movement which was popular in the wake of the
35:14
Speaker 5: George Floyd murders, and it was designed to divert money
35:19
Speaker 5: from police budgets into the provision of social services. Now,
35:24
Speaker 5: Senator Kamala Harris was a big fan of it, and
35:27
Speaker 5: she congratulated Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti for slashing the police
35:32
Speaker 5: budget by one hundred and fifty million dollars and putting
35:35
Speaker 5: it into social services. What we've seen is the US
35:37
Speaker 5: Department of Justice give grants to cities across our nation
35:43
Speaker 5: in order to support and establish crisis intervention teams. But
35:47
Speaker 5: I was struck by the fact that the US Department
35:50
Speaker 5: of Justice has itself concluded they're not effective. They don't
35:54
Speaker 5: reduce the amount of lethality or deaths in police apprehensions.
36:00
Speaker 5: The Journal of the Academy of Psychiatry and the Law
36:05
Speaker 5: has made the similar conclusion. So I think what we
36:09
Speaker 5: need to do is ensure that the tools police officers
36:13
Speaker 5: need are actually being funded for them, and not to
36:19
Speaker 5: divert money away from police budgets for social programs that
36:25
Speaker 5: are not helping them.
36:27
Speaker 7: Talking to Mark Carter again, who's Republican running for a
36:29
Speaker 7: house in District fifty seven, give us the bio on
36:31
Speaker 7: Mark Carter who?
36:32
Speaker 5: Mark Carter is a lawyer. Primarily, Mark Carter is a Christian,
36:36
Speaker 5: a father, and a husband. I've been married for a
36:39
Speaker 5: long time to a wonderful woman, Jane Carter. I was
36:43
Speaker 5: recently and had a reception where I was endorsed by
36:46
Speaker 5: Senator Capitol and introduced by her, and she spent more
36:50
Speaker 5: time talking about Jane than she did about me, inappropriately,
36:53
Speaker 5: So I can relate to that.
36:56
Speaker 7: With my life, I can relate I have.
36:59
Speaker 5: I've practice law for thirty eight years, and I've enjoyed
37:02
Speaker 5: practicing law, but I've also been involved in public service
37:06
Speaker 5: for a long time. Dave, it was a topic on
37:10
Speaker 5: your interview with my opponent, public service and devotion to
37:13
Speaker 5: public service. I started public service in this state in
37:16
Speaker 5: nineteen eighty four. I think my opponent was probably five
37:20
Speaker 5: or six at the time, and so my well, actually
37:25
Speaker 5: I don't know if he was even born yet at
37:26
Speaker 5: that time. But I started working for the Attorney General's
37:29
Speaker 5: office in nineteen eighty four, and I just fell in
37:33
Speaker 5: love with public service. I fell in love with West Virginia.
37:36
Speaker 5: I've served as the impartial, neutral arbiter, a mediator, and
37:43
Speaker 5: judge for our United States government, treating all of our
37:46
Speaker 5: federal employees two point two million federal employees for two
37:49
Speaker 5: different presidents, President Bush and President Trump, serving in our
37:54
Speaker 5: nation's capital and throughout the United States. I really am
37:58
Speaker 5: grateful for those opportunities to engage in public service, and
38:02
Speaker 5: I wish to continue to do that.
38:04
Speaker 7: With all of the background that you have, though in
38:07
Speaker 7: doing these different things, why do you want to serve
38:10
Speaker 7: in the legislature?
38:12
Speaker 5: Because of the need is great. The need is great
38:14
Speaker 5: in our state. We are forty ninth in wages, and
38:20
Speaker 5: I think there's a natural relationship. If you're forty ninth
38:23
Speaker 5: in wages, you're going to be forty ninth in education.
38:26
Speaker 5: You're going to be forty ninth. When it comes to
38:28
Speaker 5: drug abuse and substance abuse, and child abuse and spousal abuse,
38:36
Speaker 5: we simply are not being paid what we're worth in
38:38
Speaker 5: this state. I had a discussion with one of my
38:42
Speaker 5: endorsers and one of my donors who said, why would
38:46
Speaker 5: you want to do this instead of serving in the
38:48
Speaker 5: nation's capital in your field of expertise, And I said,
38:52
Speaker 5: because I think I could help a lot of people
38:55
Speaker 5: in Washington, but I think I can help more people
38:57
Speaker 5: I care about in the state House, and that's why
39:00
Speaker 5: I'm doing it.
39:01
Speaker 7: Talking again with Mark Carter, do you have a website
39:04
Speaker 7: or social media that you like to put out there?
39:07
Speaker 5: The the best source is my social media, which is
39:10
Speaker 5: Mark Carter for WV on Facebook that I update on
39:14
Speaker 5: an almost daily basis. I do also have a website,
39:17
Speaker 5: Mark Carter for WV dot com. But you can get
39:22
Speaker 5: my phone number on either one of them and you
39:25
Speaker 5: can give me a call if you have a question
39:27
Speaker 5: or something you want to discuss. I'm going to be
39:30
Speaker 5: out on the street Friday and Saturday. Well today's Friday,
39:34
Speaker 5: Saturday and Saturday, so you can see these candidates in
39:36
Speaker 5: here all the time, and we're sort of bleared eye.
39:38
Speaker 5: It all kind of runs together, they do. But I'll
39:41
Speaker 5: be out on the street this weekend. I'll be out
39:43
Speaker 5: on the roads waving at you stop by. I'm happy
39:46
Speaker 5: to speak to anybody, all right, Give me the final thirty.
39:49
Speaker 5: Why should someone vote for Mark Carter for a house
39:51
Speaker 5: in District fifty seven? Somebody should vote for me if
39:54
Speaker 5: they care about our state. An issue has been made
39:58
Speaker 5: with regard to me when opponent went negative on me
40:02
Speaker 5: earlier this week and said, look at Mark Carter, he's
40:05
Speaker 5: look at he's owned by special interests. I want folks
40:08
Speaker 5: to look at who's endorsing the two candidates. My endorsers
40:13
Speaker 5: are job creators, uniformly, job creators, hospitals, doctors, realtors, homebuilders,
40:21
Speaker 5: the people who put jobs in place. My opponent is
40:25
Speaker 5: endorsed by many folks as well, and twelve of them
40:29
Speaker 5: are labor unions, and one of them is the trial
40:32
Speaker 5: lawyers bar I My father was a member of the
40:37
Speaker 5: International Association of Machinists, bargain for them. I grew up
40:41
Speaker 5: in a union house. His father was a president of
40:43
Speaker 5: his local United Mine Workers. I know what a union
40:48
Speaker 5: could do. I have lived on strike relief. I know
40:51
Speaker 5: exactly what it's like. And of all the things a
40:54
Speaker 5: union can do for folks, and there are many, one
40:57
Speaker 5: of the things they can't do is bring in new jobs.
41:00
Speaker 5: I've never seen a union create new jobs. I want
41:06
Speaker 5: our folks to have a better standard of living, a
41:08
Speaker 5: better job, of more choices. I want their children to
41:12
Speaker 5: be able to stay here and their families to stay together.
41:16
Speaker 5: That's the difference I bring in this campaign.
41:18
Speaker 7: All right, we wish you the best of luck on Tuesday,
41:21
Speaker 7: and well christ you have two days of early voting
41:23

44:34
Speaker 7: Good morning, Sarah, Welcome to the show.
44:36
Speaker 19: Good morning, Dave. How are you doing this morning?
44:37
Speaker 7: I'm doing fine. You had a text waiting on you
44:40
Speaker 7: as soon as you got here this morning. I have
44:41
Speaker 7: no idea what this means, all right, So I'm gonna
44:43
Speaker 7: hit you with the text. It says, did you know
44:46
Speaker 7: that the Jersey Giant is the largest rooster breed. It's
44:49
Speaker 7: apparently become a trend for people in West Virginia to
44:51
Speaker 7: put giant replicas in their yard. Do you have one
44:54
Speaker 7: in your yard?
44:55
Speaker 5: Senator Tar?
44:57
Speaker 19: You know I do not have one of our yard.
44:58
Speaker 19: I'll tell you what I do have those with it
45:00
Speaker 19: being Halloween. Was just talking to Abou about this. I
45:02
Speaker 19: got some dragons. They call my house up here the
45:04
Speaker 19: house of dragons I have.
45:06
Speaker 7: I got this random to I have no idea. Maybe
45:08
Speaker 7: you it's an inside joke that I didn't get, but
45:10
Speaker 7: I don't. I don't know what that means. But I
45:12
Speaker 7: told I said, Okay, I know.
45:14
Speaker 19: Who that joke came from. I know exactly who that
45:16
Speaker 19: joke came from.
45:17
Speaker 7: All Right, Senator tar what do I have you on
45:19
Speaker 7: the show? Normally we talk about budgets, taxes, things of
45:22
Speaker 7: that nature, but this morning I wanted to talk about
45:24
Speaker 7: Amendment one, and this has to do with physician assisted suicides.
45:27
Speaker 7: You are in favor of this amendment that voters are
45:31
Speaker 7: looking at. Explain what exactly the amendment says and why
45:35
Speaker 7: are you are so interested in seeing this past?
45:38
Speaker 19: You know, I'm I'm inisted in seeing this past because
45:42
Speaker 19: if you go back into the nineties, kind of this
45:43
Speaker 19: effort really started around the nineties with Jack Vorkin if
45:47
Speaker 19: you remember him, Doctor Death, and then later on after him,
45:51
Speaker 19: you started getting discussions around death panels, with Obama and
45:55
Speaker 19: some of those people. And this what's grown from that
45:58
Speaker 19: is this assisted suicide lobby effort across the country. So
46:02
Speaker 19: about ten states have legalized assisted suicide. There's efforts to
46:07
Speaker 19: legalize it in about twenty three states right now. And
46:10
Speaker 19: so there's some big money and strong lobby behind an
46:13
Speaker 19: industry of killing people. And you know, they try to
46:20
Speaker 19: disguise it with very attractive terms like death with dignity
46:25
Speaker 19: and things like that, and maybe that's how it starts,
46:27
Speaker 19: but we know in states that have had it for
46:29
Speaker 19: a while, it turns into a profit center, and it
46:32
Speaker 19: turns into a way for insurance companies to be able
46:35
Speaker 19: to save money when instead of going on to why
46:38
Speaker 19: not being an expensive treatment for cancer or expensive therapies
46:41
Speaker 19: for depression, that they deny those treatments and then try
46:45
Speaker 19: and offer you an option which is a cheaper option
46:48
Speaker 19: to get you off their.
46:49
Speaker 15: Books, and that's assisted suicide.
46:51
Speaker 19: And so what this what this amendment does is it
46:55
Speaker 19: prohibits government from establishing the ability to do that industry
47:00
Speaker 19: in West Virginia for any future legislature or court. And
47:04
Speaker 19: so that's that's what's a bounce that does one thing
47:06
Speaker 19: and one thing along it would say that any future
47:08
Speaker 19: legislature cannot go in and legalize assisted suicide in West Virginia.
47:15
Speaker 7: So, I mean, the argument has been, well, it's already
47:18
Speaker 7: illegal in West Virginia. So what I'm hearing you say
47:21
Speaker 7: from your perspective, Senator, is is that this would say
47:24
Speaker 7: that any future legislators cannot come in and basically reverse
47:30
Speaker 7: the law of it's on the books. Is that a
47:31
Speaker 7: good way to put it.
47:32
Speaker 19: That's a good way to put it, you know. So
47:34
Speaker 19: one of the things that the legislators are very familiar
47:37
Speaker 19: with is that, you know, lobby efforts are well funded
47:42
Speaker 19: in a lot of times, and they're very effective. And
47:45
Speaker 19: that's as you when you start seeing big money get
47:47
Speaker 19: behind lobby efforts and stay persistent with it, eventually it
47:52
Speaker 19: starts to happen and you get you get down some
47:54
Speaker 19: of these slopes sometimes the things that can be very dangerous,
47:58
Speaker 19: and that's what we're seeing come across the kind you're
48:00
Speaker 19: now starting with the West coast, in places like Oregon,
48:03
Speaker 19: in California where it's been on the books for a while.
48:08
Speaker 19: And I'll give you an example. One of the stories
48:10
Speaker 19: really had is that even in California got a little
48:12
Speaker 19: out of hand that if you were going to have
48:16
Speaker 19: an a very expensive medical treatment, you're near end of life.
48:20
Speaker 19: Insurance company was denying it and in the same denial
48:23
Speaker 19: letter giving you a communication. But here's you an option
48:25
Speaker 19: you can we can send you these this poison cocktail
48:28
Speaker 19: and you can end your life if you so choose,
48:31
Speaker 19: but we're denying the treatment. Well, California because of that,
48:35
Speaker 19: even California came back and said, wait a minute, you
48:37
Speaker 19: can't give this communication in this in the same communication.
48:40
Speaker 19: So now what it does. They'll send you a letter
48:42
Speaker 19: for the denial and then give you a phone call
48:44
Speaker 19: and let you know they can send you a poison cocktail.
48:48
Speaker 19: And so people are there's there's a financial gain for that.
48:53
Speaker 19: Insurance come to do that. They get an expensive person
48:55
Speaker 19: off their books. And so in West Virginia, we we
49:00
Speaker 19: value life, and you know West Virginia's for life is
49:02
Speaker 19: for this amendment as well, and we value so much
49:07
Speaker 19: that that we don't want somebody to because of the
49:11
Speaker 19: profit and bottom line on their book, that they want
49:14
Speaker 19: to foster that opinion that you are no longer of
49:19
Speaker 19: value to society and that because you're such a burden.
49:22
Speaker 19: Let's take you off our books. That's what's happening with
49:26
Speaker 19: this industry, and it's it's it's that way now. That
49:29
Speaker 19: is that way now legal in the country. In some
49:32
Speaker 19: states it's not a legal it's not legal Wants Virginia.
49:36
Speaker 19: And there's when you have it in your constitution as
49:40
Speaker 19: a barrier for establishing that industry. Here, it's a much
49:43
Speaker 19: higher bar to be able to get that industry into
49:46
Speaker 19: West Virginia for having done that. So if that's why,
49:49
Speaker 19: it's why we need the constitutional amendment.
49:50
Speaker 7: All right, Senator, I know you're really busy and I'm
49:53
Speaker 7: starting to run out of time here. I appreciate you
49:55
Speaker 7: coming on the show and we'll talk against so man,
49:57
Speaker 7: thanks a lot, well, thanks for having me on Talks
49:59
Speaker 7: a dance chair Eric tar Is seven minutes now away
50:02
Speaker 7: from ten. I got a bunch of texts to get to,
50:05
Speaker 7: going back to Mark Carter Texas. Mark Carter is right.
50:08
Speaker 7: Police work is not social work, says a text. Texas says,
50:12
Speaker 7: Mark Carter seems like the guy to actually fix things
50:14
Speaker 7: in Charleston. He can actually get things done that others
50:17
Speaker 7: simply can't because of the makeup of the house. He
50:18
Speaker 7: would definitely be an effective advocate for the community. Text
50:22
Speaker 7: says he talks about talking about Mark Carter talks about
50:25
Speaker 7: crime and law enforcement, but counties have to pay state
50:28
Speaker 7: for inmates. Now he cracked down on the counties that
50:31
Speaker 7: don't pay for inmates, one of which is the speaker
50:33
Speaker 7: of the Houses County. All could save taxpayers a bunch
50:38
Speaker 7: of money, says the Texture. Talking about getting the crime
50:41
Speaker 7: rates down, says a textra In addition to raising property,
50:43
Speaker 7: Charleston could get theirs down if they crack down on
50:45
Speaker 7: drug addict bombs on every corner of every street. They
50:48
Speaker 7: sleep anywhere. Not to mention, you can't walk in any
50:51
Speaker 7: store without being harassed. Charleston looks like Los Angeles. It
50:54
Speaker 7: is a disgrace. Tex says, Why are so many that
50:58
Speaker 7: are running have West Virginia seems to be the most
51:00
Speaker 7: common tagline of many tech says Mark Carter is an
51:05
Speaker 7: outstanding candidate with valuable government experience. He will serve the
51:09
Speaker 7: district well. Day've asked Mark, why our utilities have gone
51:12
Speaker 7: up one hundred and fifty percent of Republicans have taken
51:14
Speaker 7: over and we are in energy state that's paying some
51:17
Speaker 7: of the highest utility rates in the country. What does
51:21
Speaker 7: Mark Carter believe he can do to make our legislator
51:23
Speaker 7: legislature more efficient and more conservative. Tex says, omg, I'm
51:28
Speaker 7: so shocked that Eric double talk tar wants to use
51:31
Speaker 7: the government to control the decisions people have over their bodies. Shocked,
51:34
Speaker 7: I tell you, Tex says. The last guest said, people
51:37
Speaker 7: are scared. There's no more manipulative voter than a scared voter.
51:40
Speaker 7: And Republicans know this. All right, got to start to
51:43
Speaker 7: wrap it up. Do you want to mention Monday's show,
51:46
Speaker 7: We will have Mayor good One here. It's the first
51:48
Speaker 7: Monday of the month and she's generally speaking on with
51:50
Speaker 7: us the first Monday of the month. So if you've
51:51
Speaker 7: got questions or comments about Charleston, get him in with
51:54
Speaker 7: the mayor on Monday. Also, that's the second part of
51:57
Speaker 7: the show. First two segments of the show. I'm going
51:59
Speaker 7: to have with me in studio two candidates for Knawk
52:02
Speaker 7: County Commission, the Democrat Natalie Tenant and the Republican Chris Walters.
52:05
Speaker 7: They're gonna sit down with me and it's just going
52:07
Speaker 7: to be a discussion, not a debate. We're just going
52:09
Speaker 7: to talk about different things. You're welcome to text me
52:12
