- 2:47Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Dad.
- 2:50Speaker 2: How you doing, Buddy, I'm going fine. How are you?
- 2:52Speaker 5: I'm great. I got home late last night. I had
- 2:55Speaker 5: some meetings in Martinsburg which were great, and we're doing good.
- 2:59Speaker 2: How were things in Martinsburg?
- 3:01Speaker 5: Asian Martinsburg Rossome. I was with a bunch of guys
- 3:05Speaker 5: who work for the large gun manufacturers who were having
- 3:09Speaker 5: their sort of annual meetings with the ATF, and we
- 3:13Speaker 5: talked a lot about, you know, how and why the
- 3:16Speaker 5: places where they're currently doing their thing might not be
- 3:19Speaker 5: the best, maybe some ways to get some of those
- 3:23Speaker 5: folks to move some of their operations here to West
- 3:25Speaker 5: Virginia and some of the big wins our office has
- 3:27Speaker 5: had in the Second Amendment.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I don't think I've had you on the local show
- 3:31Speaker 2: JB since the Supreme Court decision West Virginia versus BPJ
- 3:35Speaker 2: upholding West Virginia Save Women's Sports Acts to talk about
- 3:39Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 5: So I think that was three weeks ago, now, wasn't it, David?
- 3:45Speaker 5: It seems like forever. But you know, we talked a
- 3:49Speaker 5: lot about how, you know, West Virginia passed to Save
- 3:52Speaker 5: Women's Sports Act because we believed that our our legislature
- 3:56Speaker 5: believed that we should have specific spaces. Is based on
- 4:01Speaker 5: sex tender and the entire idea of this bill, and
- 4:04Speaker 5: it's a simple bill said that if you are a
- 4:08Speaker 5: biological male, you need to play sports against other biological
- 4:12Speaker 5: males because there are immutable physical characteristics that give biological
- 4:17Speaker 5: males an advantage over biological females. And so that case
- 4:22Speaker 5: we've been defending. That case. We got sued by the
- 4:24Speaker 5: ACOU and a few other large, you know, sort of national,
- 4:28Speaker 5: well funded law groups, and they sued to overturn our law.
- 4:33Speaker 5: And so that case as we defended it through the
- 4:35Speaker 5: district court, and then we the state lost at the
- 4:38Speaker 5: Fourth Circuit, and the Fourth Circuit enjoined our law saying
- 4:41Speaker 5: that we couldn't enforce it. So that case ended up
- 4:44Speaker 5: at the US Supreme Court, and my team of lawyers
- 4:46Speaker 5: and I defended our case there and all nine of
- 4:51Speaker 5: the justices, all nine, a unanimous decision, said that our
- 4:55Speaker 5: law did not violate Title nine, which is one of
- 4:58Speaker 5: the arguments from the ACOU. And six of the nine
- 5:02Speaker 5: justices agreed that our law does not violate the equal
- 5:04Speaker 5: Protection clause. And so essentially, if there's eighteen votes, our
- 5:11Speaker 5: law got fifteen of the eighteen votes, which is really
- 5:16Speaker 5: pretty remarkable. And so this is a huge win for
- 5:20Speaker 5: women's sports. It's a huge win for the women and
- 5:23Speaker 5: girls in this state and across the country, so that
- 5:27Speaker 5: other states now can feel confident and boldly make these
- 5:31Speaker 5: laws that really protect the women and girls who are
- 5:34Speaker 5: getting up every single morning and working their rear ends
- 5:37Speaker 5: off to play what are very very competitive sports, and
- 5:40Speaker 5: sports that result in scholarships and nil deals and you know,
- 5:45Speaker 5: potentially even professional contracts. But more than that, protecting the
- 5:49Speaker 5: ability for these young ladies to have competitive spaces where
- 5:54Speaker 5: they can showcase their talents and they can learn the
- 5:57Speaker 5: values that anybody who's ever played very competitive sports, which
- 6:01Speaker 5: I have, that your work matters. What you do at
- 6:05Speaker 5: five o'clock in the morning is how you end up
- 6:08Speaker 5: winning games, and that when you do lose, if you've
- 6:12Speaker 5: lost fairly, there is an enormous amount of benefit in
- 6:16Speaker 5: learning how to download what a loss meant, what you
- 6:20Speaker 5: did wrong, where you weren't working hard enough, what somebody
- 6:23Speaker 5: else was doing better than you. And so we're really
- 6:25Speaker 5: really proud of the effort and the work that our
- 6:28Speaker 5: office did and what is a truly landmark decision that
- 6:32Speaker 5: once again West Virginia.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Was the leader on and again I mean your office
- 6:37Speaker 2: and you specifically and in your team were out there
- 6:39Speaker 2: in front mean when the decision came down, because we
- 6:42Speaker 2: were all in the media setting back waiting on it
- 6:44Speaker 2: for you know, cause today is going to be the day. No,
- 6:46Speaker 2: today is going to be the day, and which kind
- 6:47Speaker 2: of waited and wait to wait and immediately put West
- 6:49Speaker 2: Virginia in the national spotlight. I think you were on
- 6:52Speaker 2: the on the talk line that day. We had Yan
- 6:54Speaker 2: as well. But you know, turn on CNN, Fox News,
- 6:57Speaker 2: You're you're all over the place out there, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 2: talk about this. It was a case that really put
- 7:01Speaker 2: West Virginia in, as you said, JB in the national spotlight.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Yeah. And I think the fact that it was nine
- 7:08Speaker 5: ozho and I actually I predicted that. I predicted it
- 7:12Speaker 5: right after the argument, and I sort of got chuckled
- 7:14Speaker 5: at by people on Fox News and CNN, and they
- 7:17Speaker 5: didn't have any contemplation that it was possible for our
- 7:21Speaker 5: team of lawyers to get the three more liberal justices
- 7:24Speaker 5: to agree with us, and we did. And I think
- 7:26Speaker 5: that's really really important, right. I think, you know, when
- 7:30Speaker 5: you look at at the way we argue the case,
- 7:32Speaker 5: the skill that was used by our team, but I
- 7:35Speaker 5: think more importantly the deft touch, because this is it's
- 7:39Speaker 5: a tricky situation, right, We're dealing with kids here, and
- 7:42Speaker 5: there are no villains in this situation but at some
- 7:46Speaker 5: point you have to stand up and say, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 5: this is what the adults need to stand up and
- 7:51Speaker 5: say this, This is how this needs to go. And
- 7:54Speaker 5: I think it was a real testament to the sort
- 7:57Speaker 5: of kindness and humility that with which the arguments were made.
- 8:01Speaker 5: And we were really proud of how we made the argument,
- 8:05Speaker 5: an enormously proud of the result.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Talking again with Attorney General JB. Mccusky, a Dave Allen
- 8:09Speaker 2: Show on five eightyline brought to you in Fired by
- 8:11Speaker 2: Hustin's Pizza the July Special by any regularly priced large
- 8:14Speaker 2: eight and ch pizza and get a two liter bottle
- 8:16Speaker 2: of any Pepsi product for free, Findingeer's Hustin's Pizza for delivery, pickup,
- 8:20Speaker 2: or dining in a Hustonspizza dot com.
- 8:21Speaker 6: JB.
- 8:22Speaker 2: What is Tier four? Read a little bit about this?
- 8:24Speaker 2: What is Tier four? And why are you leading a
- 8:26Speaker 2: group of other ags in the fight against whatever T
- 8:29Speaker 2: four is a Tier four?
- 8:30Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I think your vehicle emission standards and the
- 8:34Speaker 5: EPA's proposed rule under both the Obama and Biden administrations,
- 8:38Speaker 5: which would have mandated all Americans and West Virginians to
- 8:43Speaker 5: buy electric vehicles, and that is something that we have
- 8:46Speaker 5: been fighting against viscerally. We believe in consumer choice and
- 8:51Speaker 5: we believe pretty significantly that the consumers of this country
- 8:55Speaker 5: were not listened to by the sort of greeno lefties
- 9:00Speaker 5: that occupied the EPA and the Energy Department under our
- 9:03Speaker 5: former president. And we have what we have done, and
- 9:07Speaker 5: what we have fought for is to get these tear
- 9:09Speaker 5: force standards to be delayed at the very least and
- 9:13Speaker 5: hopefully eliminated in their totality, because what we've seen since
- 9:17Speaker 5: they were created is that you know, electric vehicles are great,
- 9:21Speaker 5: but consumers aren't champing at the bit to buy them.
- 9:24Speaker 5: I mean, a lot of our large manufacturers have stopped
- 9:27Speaker 5: making them their in totality. And so what we need
- 9:30Speaker 5: to make sure is that people's cars that they already own,
- 9:32Speaker 5: that they want to keep up older cars, and that
- 9:35Speaker 5: going into the future, that the vehicles that so many
- 9:39Speaker 5: West Virginians rely on are still available to purchase and
- 9:43Speaker 5: available to be fixed. And this is another one of
- 9:46Speaker 5: those situations where it's a big national issue, but West
- 9:49Speaker 5: Virginia is sort of the leader in protecting not just
- 9:52Speaker 5: the consumers here, but everybody.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Talk about the lawsuits against Apple. You've been on the
- 9:56Speaker 2: show talking about those in the past. Anything new to
- 9:58Speaker 2: report there.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Yeah, So we won. Apple filed emotion to remove the
- 10:07Speaker 5: case to federal court. So we filed the case here
- 10:08Speaker 5: in state court. These are state court claims, and we
- 10:11Speaker 5: wanted to have West Virginia State Court judges hearing it.
- 10:14Speaker 5: We would have been happy to be in federal court
- 10:15Speaker 5: if we'd lost. But Apple brought in all their again,
- 10:18Speaker 5: big DC and New York and LA lawyers and the
- 10:22Speaker 5: whole group of them, and they came in and our
- 10:25Speaker 5: group of lawyers won the day, and we actually got
- 10:29Speaker 5: a ruling from the bench and the case has been
- 10:31Speaker 5: remanded back to state court. And it's the first of
- 10:35Speaker 5: many victories to get Apple to start playing ball to
- 10:40Speaker 5: help us remedy this incredible worldwide problem of child abduction
- 10:46Speaker 5: and exploitation. And so what Apple's doing is that they
- 10:49Speaker 5: are hosting hundreds of millions of images of child sexual
- 10:53Speaker 5: abuse and rape in their cloud, allowing those images to
- 10:57Speaker 5: be distributed through their cloud and not help helping law
- 11:00Speaker 5: enforcement find the animals who are taking these children and
- 11:04Speaker 5: abusing them and filming them in their absolute worst moments
- 11:08Speaker 5: for their own personal for their company's profit, and it's
- 11:12Speaker 5: all under the guise of what they call being the
- 11:14Speaker 5: most secure cloud. But we believe that's a dog whistle
- 11:17Speaker 5: to those who would harm children, that that's the place
- 11:20Speaker 5: where if you're going to have these pictures, you want
- 11:22Speaker 5: to store them at Apple. And so we are we're
- 11:25Speaker 5: very confident that this is going to be another large
- 11:29Speaker 5: scale national bell Weather case where we hold one of
- 11:32Speaker 5: our country's largest corporations accountable for harming our children.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Before we let you go, I was in a little
- 11:39Speaker 2: reading about some of your recent activities. Here there's a
- 11:41Speaker 2: twenty nine point six million dollars settlement against Glenn Mark.
- 11:44Speaker 2: What or who is Glen Mark?
- 11:47Speaker 5: It's a that is a we are a piece of
- 11:50Speaker 5: a thirty million dollars settlement. And this is, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 5: one of these little bits of great work that our
- 11:55Speaker 5: Consumer Division does, and that was a generic drug manufacturer
- 12:00Speaker 5: was violating our consumer laws here in West Virginia. And
- 12:03Speaker 5: so if I remember correctly, we will have just over
- 12:07Speaker 5: a million dollars coming in to West Virginia based on
- 12:11Speaker 5: them violating our state laws. And the really wonderful lawyers
- 12:14Speaker 5: we have in our Consumer Division doing their jobs really
- 12:17Speaker 5: well and so you know that that's a good sort
- 12:19Speaker 5: of segue. If you are a consumer here in West
- 12:21Speaker 5: Virginian and you have been harmed by by by a business,
- 12:27Speaker 5: give us a call. You know, we just finished helping
- 12:31Speaker 5: a really nice couple. They redid their kitchen and none
- 12:34Speaker 5: of the appliances worked. They bought brand new appliances that
- 12:37Speaker 5: you know, they did this whole kitchen remodel and the
- 12:40Speaker 5: appliances didn't work, and the company that they bought these
- 12:43Speaker 5: appliances from refused to come out and service them. They
- 12:46Speaker 5: refuse to replace them. In about you know, two three
- 12:50Speaker 5: weeks of work from some good lawyers in my office,
- 12:53Speaker 5: they have a whole brand new kitchen and the warranties
- 12:56Speaker 5: were all We're all honored. So you know, if you're
- 12:59Speaker 5: in find yourself in a situation like that, even if
- 13:01Speaker 5: it seems like it might be too small, please give
- 13:04Speaker 5: us a call and let's give you some help.
- 13:06Speaker 2: West Virginia Attorney General Jim mccusky always a pleasure to
- 13:08Speaker 2: have you on the show. Sir, Be well and we'll
- 13:10Speaker 2: talk soon.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Dave, talk to you to Someboddy. Thank you.

- 13:53Speaker 2: Dek says the defensive Real Girls ruling was as it
- 13:56Speaker 2: should be. For decades, doctors have said that the brain
- 13:58Speaker 2: is not fully developed until the age of twenty five.
- 14:01Speaker 2: So if we parent or quotation marks here trust the
- 14:04Speaker 2: science like we've been lectured to do so for years now,
- 14:07Speaker 2: then no, all caps. No child under eighteen is mentally
- 14:11Speaker 2: emotionally or psychiatrically sound enough to make such a major
- 14:15Speaker 2: life decision to choose their gender. Parents need to be
- 14:17Speaker 2: held accountable for doing this to them. We're keeping a
- 14:21Speaker 2: close eye on the weather. Yeah, we got some severe
- 14:23Speaker 2: weather rolling into the area, especially late this afternoon. Some
- 14:27Speaker 2: are you saw it a little bit earlier this morning,
- 14:30Speaker 2: but for most of us it's going to be mid
- 14:31Speaker 2: to late afternoon. Metro News mediorologist Brian Hughes going to
- 14:34Speaker 2: join us talk about a little bit later on and
- 14:36Speaker 2: we're talking dirty birds, baseball, fingers crossed. We can play

- 17:41Speaker 2: welcome to the show. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night,
- 17:43Speaker 2: Happy new year, you know whatever, all the things, all
- 17:46Speaker 2: the things all right. So we can't do right now
- 17:49Speaker 2: we're talking about it off the air. You can't do
- 17:50Speaker 2: anything about the weather, well, Bill Brian hughes on that
- 17:53Speaker 2: a little bit later on, but we could hope for
- 17:55Speaker 2: the best as we kick off a special week with
- 17:58Speaker 2: the camc Vandelia Health all being saluted this week. Lots
- 18:01Speaker 2: of things going on all around. It's gonna be a
- 18:03Speaker 2: great week at the ballpark.
- 18:05Speaker 10: Rod, It's a great time to be there. We've got
- 18:08Speaker 10: Vendela Health Week. It's something we expanded a few years
- 18:11Speaker 10: ago from just having a CMC night when you're a
- 18:14Speaker 10: twenty four to seven operation. Actually, I think Ben was
- 18:16Speaker 10: the one who first came up with a plan to say,
- 18:18Speaker 10: let's make it into a week and let's just instead
- 18:21Speaker 10: of everybody coming at once, let's try to have people
- 18:24Speaker 10: come on any time that they want to. So this week,
- 18:26Speaker 10: what we're trying this year, what we're trying to do
- 18:27Speaker 10: is say we're going to try to say, for instance,
- 18:31Speaker 10: night Memorial Hospital here over there Friday with the mascot
- 18:34Speaker 10: taking pictures. Hey, this is your night. If you all
- 18:36Speaker 10: want to come together, come on Tuesday night, and General
- 18:39Speaker 10: come on Thursday, and the Cancer Center come on Friday
- 18:42Speaker 10: for Strikeout Cancer Night, and women and Children's come on
- 18:46Speaker 10: Sunday when kids get in free. And then we're doing
- 18:48Speaker 10: a women in health celebration as part of Women Making
- 18:51Speaker 10: a Difference Night tomorrow night. Did you know that seventy
- 18:54Speaker 10: five percent of the employees it's in the Vandalia Health
- 18:57Speaker 10: System where women I do not know them, and a
- 18:59Speaker 10: pretty ercentage of the leadership team are women too, So
- 19:03Speaker 10: it's pretty amazing. So we're celebrating women in healthcare as
- 19:06Speaker 10: part of Women Making a Difference Night, which is also
- 19:08Speaker 10: a pretty major celebration that includes Christy Martin coming and
- 19:12Speaker 10: also Marshall's head basketball coach Jill Folks, who's going to
- 19:17Speaker 10: be there to do a panel discussion before the game
- 19:20Speaker 10: and to answer some questions.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Well tomorrow night, right.
- 19:22Speaker 10: Yeah, women making different nights Tomorrow night, and this sponsored
- 19:26Speaker 10: by the YWCA because they're also going to have Christy
- 19:29Speaker 10: Martin talking more go in depth at the YWCA on
- 19:32Speaker 10: Thursday night for a for a more intimate kind of program,
- 19:36Speaker 10: one that can talk about domestic violence and what Christy
- 19:38Speaker 10: Martin's been through in her experience that she now shares.
- 19:41Speaker 2: And she's great because I've interviewed her several times in
- 19:44Speaker 2: the past, and you know, she if you don't know
- 19:46Speaker 2: her story, native of Mullins, West Virginia and Wyoming County,
- 19:49Speaker 2: and rose to international fame, had Don King in her
- 19:53Speaker 2: corner and others, you know, a cover of Sports Illustrated,
- 19:57Speaker 2: and then what people didn't know, guys, was the struggle
- 20:00Speaker 2: she was having behind the scenes with an abusive situation.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Now she has basically post boxing, has devoted her life
- 20:08Speaker 2: to trying to explain all the different factors that that
- 20:13Speaker 2: go in to domestic violence, because, as she explained to
- 20:16Speaker 2: me and so many of our listeners know, it's not
- 20:19Speaker 2: just physical. There's a whole lot more to it than
- 20:22Speaker 2: than just that. And I think she does a great
- 20:24Speaker 2: job of talking about that and and she she's a
- 20:26Speaker 2: fantastic ambassador.
- 20:28Speaker 10: And I think she might be coming on with you.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 20:31Speaker 2: Is that possible? I think so yeah, on midday. I
- 20:33Speaker 2: think she's going to be on tomorrow. I think is
- 20:34Speaker 2: what we're working on there. So, Ben, how are things
- 20:37Speaker 2: going so far? We'll continue with this week. I just
- 20:39Speaker 2: want to ask you overall, how's the season going so far?
- 20:42Speaker 11: Well, the first half is gone, so we just we
- 20:45Speaker 11: ignore that.
- 20:45Speaker 2: We start back at zero zero. It's a great thing
- 20:47Speaker 2: about the way this league works. You know, it's a
- 20:49Speaker 2: totally different season.
- 20:50Speaker 11: You know, you get two tries, so the second half
- 20:53Speaker 11: is going better. Bj has made some great changes, you know,
- 20:56Speaker 11: he brought back Isaiah s Tejeda and uh, you know,
- 20:59Speaker 11: we've had some injuries, but we've made some changes to
- 21:02Speaker 11: the pitching arsenal and you know, it's it's been nice.
- 21:06Speaker 11: We took four games against Southern Maryland, so that's that
- 21:09Speaker 11: they're going to the player they were number one last Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 2: First.
- 21:12Speaker 11: Yeah, So you know, I'm excited to see what the
- 21:15Speaker 11: next couple of weeks bring as we you know, make
- 21:17Speaker 11: our run. But it's it's definitely good. To see, you know,
- 21:20Speaker 11: the guys hitting lots of home runs and it's it's
- 21:22Speaker 11: just tons of fun to watch the way the PJ
- 21:24Speaker 11: puts together a team because you know, he focuses heavy,
- 21:27Speaker 11: heavy on people that can hit the ball very well,
- 21:30Speaker 11: and when they do, it's it's really exciting.
- 21:32Speaker 2: All right, Rod, what else we got going on this week?
- 21:35Speaker 10: Well, we have two dollars. Tuesday is tonight also and
- 21:40Speaker 10: it's dollar Beer Night on Thursday. Friday is barking the
- 21:43Speaker 10: park is that we still calling, okay, And Saturday is
- 21:47Speaker 10: Christmas in July. Saturday, Vandelia Health is sponsoring the firework
- 21:51Speaker 10: show after the game as a way to sort of
- 21:53Speaker 10: celebrate the entire system and kind of their rebranding as
- 21:56Speaker 10: they move more and more toward being associated with Vandela Health.
- 21:59Speaker 10: It is it is the number one healthcare the number
- 22:02Speaker 10: one healthcare provider here in the southern part of the
- 22:04Speaker 10: state and now with almost a state wide reach. So
- 22:08Speaker 10: they'll be sponsoring the fireworks. Sunday is kids get in
- 22:11Speaker 10: free anyway, so we're also emphasizing it's also Dusty's birthday
- 22:15Speaker 10: and Andrew Shea's birthday on Sunday, and I think there's
- 22:18Speaker 10: a special promotion for kids that are eight and under
- 22:21Speaker 10: that the families get in free.
- 22:22Speaker 12: Yep.
- 22:22Speaker 11: So it's the eighth year that Andy's done this with
- 22:26Speaker 11: his son Andrew Shay And if you have an eight
- 22:29Speaker 11: year older under, there's a special link on our Facebook
- 22:32Speaker 11: to go get free tickets for the whole family to
- 22:34Speaker 11: come and join the celebration. So not only do we
- 22:38Speaker 11: have that on Sunday, but we have Santa Claus coming
- 22:41Speaker 11: on seven twenty five, which is Christmas in July. He's
- 22:44Speaker 11: going to come visit, throw a first pitch and walk
- 22:46Speaker 11: around the concourse and give away some good and some
- 22:49Speaker 11: goodies to the kiddos.
- 22:50Speaker 10: One of the other things about Tomorrow Night is that
- 22:52Speaker 10: we are honoring about thirty twenty five to thirty women
- 22:55Speaker 10: We've asked for nominations Difference. It's called Women Making a
- 22:58Speaker 10: Difference Night because because it celebrates all the different ways
- 23:01Speaker 10: that women make a difference in the lives of our community,
- 23:04Speaker 10: in the lives of our people, and so we've asked
- 23:07Speaker 10: people to nominate women who make a difference, often un
- 23:10Speaker 10: heralded women who make a difference. So we're gonna be
- 23:12Speaker 10: lining the all Star team up on the line before
- 23:15Speaker 10: the game tomorrow night, having been able to receive all
- 23:19Speaker 10: these nominations from people and being able to celebrate all
- 23:22Speaker 10: the different ways that women make a difference in our
- 23:24Speaker 10: communities and beyond. Really so it's a great celebration. It
- 23:29Speaker 10: is the third of the sort of out special outreach
- 23:33Speaker 10: programs that we do identifying and reaching out to largely
- 23:37Speaker 10: underrepresented segments of the population underrepresented at the ballpark. That
- 23:41Speaker 10: is the Pride Night, the Baseball for US African American
- 23:44Speaker 10: Heritage Night, and then Women Making a Difference Night, as
- 23:47Speaker 10: we do some outright outreach and say you are welcome
- 23:50Speaker 10: here talk.
- 23:51Speaker 2: About some of the I mean, I don't know, are
- 23:52Speaker 2: you at liberty to discuss who the women are or
- 23:55Speaker 2: or their backgrounds or anything. At this point, I don't
- 23:57Speaker 2: want to give away too much, but I mean, can
- 23:58Speaker 2: you tell me where the way? Because you good that
- 24:00Speaker 2: you took nominations, so can you tell us anything more
- 24:03Speaker 2: I should have brought?
- 24:05Speaker 8: No.
- 24:06Speaker 10: I'll give one example. It's a professor at the West
- 24:08Speaker 10: Virginia State University. He's worked with one of our season
- 24:10Speaker 10: ticket holders and in his fledgling broadcast career. For instance. Uh,
- 24:15Speaker 10: there's also somebody who has taken in is who's worked
- 24:20Speaker 10: with children all her life and has taken in a
- 24:23Speaker 10: whole lot of foster children to be able to say, hey,
- 24:26Speaker 10: we're going to at least keep give you a good
- 24:27Speaker 10: place in a good house to live in. So those
- 24:30Speaker 10: are two that immediately come to mind that I know of,
- 24:32Speaker 10: but it's a whole lot of it's a it's across
- 24:34Speaker 10: the board. People who are professionals, people who you've heard of,
- 24:37Speaker 10: but some you haven't that are just going to be
- 24:40Speaker 10: honored as people who make a difference in the life.
- 24:42Speaker 2: The people that you haven't heard from him many times,
- 24:44Speaker 2: their stories are even more remarkable because you know they're
- 24:47Speaker 2: not doing it for their name in the paper or
- 24:49Speaker 2: on the radio or whatever.
- 24:50Speaker 10: That's exactly right. And so that's why it's it's to
- 24:53Speaker 10: be mostly unheralded women because but there are some names
- 24:56Speaker 10: that will recognize on there. And I think we're gonna
- 24:58Speaker 10: make you extra too that involved in women making a
- 25:01Speaker 10: difference night for the last four years to.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Talk about the importance of activities Rod as it pertains
- 25:07Speaker 2: to the Dirty Birds, Why is it so important that
- 25:09Speaker 2: you guys do, because I mean, it's all about the baseball.
- 25:12Speaker 2: We know that, but the Dirty Birds do a lot
- 25:13Speaker 2: more than just a baseball game.
- 25:15Speaker 10: Well, and especially whenever you don't have a winning team,
- 25:18Speaker 10: you want it to be about more than just the baseball.
- 25:20Speaker 2: So I'm going to turn that around, though, right man,
- 25:22Speaker 2: We're gonna turn it around.
- 25:23Speaker 10: We are going to turn that around. But this is
- 25:25Speaker 10: something I learned a long time ago. I think the
- 25:26Speaker 10: first time I was working for the team back in
- 25:28Speaker 10: nineteen ninety six, when I was doing that for a
- 25:30Speaker 10: year and a half, and the research says that and
- 25:33Speaker 10: that was an affiliated ball where you have no control
- 25:36Speaker 10: over the quality of your baseball players, and the goal
- 25:39Speaker 10: is to be able to attract people to come and
- 25:41Speaker 10: have them leave having a good time, regardless of the score.
- 25:45Speaker 10: So it's about the baseball experience more than it's just
- 25:47Speaker 10: about the game. Yeah, So some the purists will say, yeah,
- 25:50Speaker 10: it's all about the baseball, and that's why the purists
- 25:52Speaker 10: probably don't.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Like me very much.
- 25:54Speaker 10: But it's also about the experience. And what are you
- 25:55Speaker 10: experienced too? Fair well?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Is that okay, baseball is just one of those rare
- 26:02Speaker 2: sports though that you're right, guys. It is about the
- 26:05Speaker 2: experience when you go to a ballpark. If you talk
- 26:07Speaker 2: to anybody, whether they go to go Mark Ballpark or
- 26:09Speaker 2: they go to Yankee Stadium, it doesn't matter if you
- 26:12Speaker 2: ask them how was the game it I've noticed that
- 26:16Speaker 2: a lot of times they won't, Well, they won't say
- 26:18Speaker 2: well we lost six to two. They'll throw that in
- 26:20Speaker 2: there somewhere, but they'll say, man, these hot dogs were great.
- 26:23Speaker 9: Man.
- 26:23Speaker 2: The parking situation, man, the team store there on the
- 26:28Speaker 2: site was great. I mean that's kind of like what
- 26:31Speaker 2: they talk about there.
- 26:33Speaker 10: What's the lasting impression we're going to make, right? And
- 26:35Speaker 10: is it this if it's a score.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Of the game.
- 26:37Speaker 10: Yeah, sometimes that happens when we have a walk off
- 26:39Speaker 10: Grand Slam or something like that. But it's much more
- 26:42Speaker 10: than that. And that's what That's what Ben does for
- 26:44Speaker 10: a living, is to make sure that the experience goes
- 26:46Speaker 10: well for people.
- 26:48Speaker 11: The goal is fun, you know. As long as we're
- 26:50Speaker 11: here to have fun and we're enjoying ourselves, I think
- 26:53Speaker 11: we're doing the right thing.
- 26:54Speaker 2: All right, go over the schedule with this once again.
- 26:56Speaker 10: There and right if you don't care, Kay, every night
- 26:59Speaker 10: scheduled for six five and tonight two dollars Tuesday. It's
- 27:04Speaker 10: also Vandela Health Week we're celebrating Memorial Hospital employees in
- 27:07Speaker 10: the cardiopulmonary program. Over there are Women Making a Difference
- 27:10Speaker 10: Night program really starting between five thirty and five forty
- 27:13Speaker 10: five with Christy Martin and Coach Folks and then the
- 27:18Speaker 10: Women Making Difference Night All Stars right before the game
- 27:21Speaker 10: of six thirty Thursday, Dollar Beer Night. It's also celebrating
- 27:24Speaker 10: General Hospital employees in the Neuroscience Center that's going to
- 27:28Speaker 10: become our neighbor over there. CMC Foundation Strikeout Cancer if
- 27:31Speaker 10: you are if you're a cancer survivor, come, We've got
- 27:34Speaker 10: some T shirts that we've made that are special for
- 27:36Speaker 10: cancer survivors that were made by were designed by a
- 27:40Speaker 10: patient at Women and Children's Hospital in fact too. And
- 27:43Speaker 10: then Saturday Fireworks with Christmas in July Pandelic Health System
- 27:48Speaker 10: celebration Women and Children's Hospital kids get in free on
- 27:51Speaker 10: Sunday with the big birthday party for Dusty and Andrewshe
- 27:55Speaker 10: what am I missing? All the winds that we're going
- 27:58Speaker 10: to have, Oh yeah, hoping to have at least take
- 28:01Speaker 10: six four out of six from Gastonia. Gastonia was one
- 28:03Speaker 10: of the better teams in the first time. They've been
- 28:05Speaker 10: struggling so they're behind us right now, but it's it'll
- 28:08Speaker 10: be a good test to see how we how we're
- 28:09Speaker 10: really doing here in the second half. The ghost peppers,
- 28:12Speaker 10: the ghost pep and I got in the mail yesterday
- 28:15Speaker 10: some ghost pepper candy, so if somebody strikes out, it's
- 28:17Speaker 10: kind of hot. So I'm not sure if I should
- 28:19Speaker 10: just pass it out to kids like it.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Probably not, you can save it for me. I love ghost.
- 28:23Speaker 10: Pepper stuff, the ghost pepper candies.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Have you ever?
- 28:25Speaker 2: I never had one?
- 28:25Speaker 13: Now?
- 28:25Speaker 10: Okay, So usually because when somebody strikes out three times
- 28:29Speaker 10: for the other team, we call them by some other name,
- 28:31Speaker 10: like the York team, we call mister York Pepperman Patty
- 28:34Speaker 10: or the Krabby Patties, or Southern Maryland or the Lexington Lemonheads,
- 28:38Speaker 10: and then we pass out different little snacks. So these
- 28:41Speaker 10: are a little hotter. Okay, they just came in the
- 28:43Speaker 10: mail yesterday, so I'm warmed in dangerous.
- 28:46Speaker 2: You see, where does one get ghost pepper candy?
- 28:49Speaker 10: Some big distribution company.
- 28:52Speaker 2: In the sky. All right, Ride Blackstone and Ben Blum,
- 28:55Speaker 2: appreciate you both being here. Thanks lot, and we'll keep
- 28:57Speaker 2: a close eye to whether I got Hughes coming up
- 28:59Speaker 2: on our next segment here on the weather. You know,
- 29:01Speaker 2: you can shake him up a little bit if you
- 29:03Speaker 2: want to say, we need to get to try to
- 29:04Speaker 2: get this game, and because a lot of people are
- 29:06Speaker 2: going to be concerned about you, normally don't make the
- 29:08Speaker 2: decision till like five o'clock or so something like that.
- 29:11Speaker 11: I have a long standing I don't look at the
- 29:13Speaker 11: weather until five o'clock. I get asked quite a bit
- 29:17Speaker 11: during the day, what's what are we doing for tonight?
- 29:19Speaker 2: What's the weather looked like? So you don't say the
- 29:21Speaker 2: same thing, no decision five.
- 29:23Speaker 11: I'll listen to what the fine man has to say, but.
- 29:27Speaker 10: He is pretty good at predict from a personal experience.
- 29:30Speaker 11: You know, I will say that there is quite a
- 29:32Speaker 11: quite a bit of times that it looks at five
- 29:35Speaker 11: o'clock like we're going to be wet at six thirty,
- 29:37Speaker 11: and then at six o'clock we're no longer going to
- 29:40Speaker 11: be wet, and we're playing baseball at six thirty.
- 29:42Speaker 10: Last homestand prime example.
- 29:43Speaker 11: I just I don't want to rehash it eighteen times
- 29:46Speaker 11: when the players or the managers, so you know, I
- 29:49Speaker 11: say five o'clock, I'll take a look and you know,
- 29:51Speaker 11: if it looks like we're gonna get a little moist,
- 29:53Speaker 11: the answer is, we will play baseball.
- 29:56Speaker 3: It just depends on Yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I mean, in under the current set up with the
- 29:59Speaker 2: turf and everything, you're concerned would be high winds and likening,
- 30:02Speaker 2: not so much rain.
- 30:03Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, even the rain isn't as much of
- 30:06Speaker 11: a factor as it used to be just because of
- 30:09Speaker 11: the surface. But you know, I mean, the players will
- 30:12Speaker 11: play as long as they feel safe and the umpires
- 30:14Speaker 11: keep them out there quite a bit. So you know,
- 30:17Speaker 11: I think that the one thing I try not to
- 30:19Speaker 11: do is start a baseball game in the rain, you know,
- 30:21Speaker 11: But if we have a window to start the game,
- 30:23Speaker 11: we're going to and we will. But you know, I
- 30:26Speaker 11: think it's it's definitely a step in the right direction
- 30:29Speaker 11: for Charleston having the turf. You know, that investment has
- 30:33Speaker 11: paid for itself and dividends, I hope, and you know,
- 30:35Speaker 11: it's made it so that we can rely on baseball
- 30:37Speaker 11: and Charleston instead of hoping to look at the weather
- 30:41Speaker 11: at five o'clock.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Well, and the good thing is is that again we're
- 30:45Speaker 2: keeping a close eye on this evening. I know you're
- 30:47Speaker 2: not until five o'clock. But after this, Brian says, we
- 30:51Speaker 2: got some absolutely fantastic weather. Temperatures one day are going
- 30:54Speaker 2: to be in the upper seventies pretty much all the
- 30:56Speaker 2: way through the weekend. So that is good news for
- 30:58Speaker 2: the dirty birds homestand against the ghost peppers of guests.
- 31:01Speaker 10: The turf also means that the general manager and the
- 31:03Speaker 10: oldest guy and the staff don't have to be on
- 31:05Speaker 10: the on the tarp crew.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah, not true. Nothing like a good Tarti pol tarp
- 31:09Speaker 2: once and it was in Savannah.
- 31:11Speaker 10: Wow, yeah, one time.
- 31:13Speaker 12: Never again.
- 31:15Speaker 2: That's why you got silver and make him do that. Yes,
- 31:17Speaker 2: all right, all right, guys, appreciate you being here. All right,
- 31:19Speaker 2: it is twenty one minutes now before ten o'clock. We'll
- 31:22Speaker 2: take a break up back after this with mediorology to

- 34:37Speaker 2: Metro News meteorologist Brian Hughes joins us now at the
- 34:39Speaker 2: Jeric Construction Studios. Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Well it's good to be here.
- 34:43Speaker 13: Just getting some new data in from the Storm Addiction Center, and.
- 34:48Speaker 3: It's everything is lining up exactly.
- 34:51Speaker 13: What I was weaking over the last couple hours is
- 34:52Speaker 13: that we may we may move the timetable up just
- 34:55Speaker 13: to touch by an hour or two. Probably an hour
- 34:58Speaker 13: for sure, maybe two hours. But it's going to be
- 35:01Speaker 13: a volatile afternoon, and the tornado threat has they have
- 35:04Speaker 13: expanded that across deeper into West Virginia for this afternoon,
- 35:09Speaker 13: in this evening.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Now.
- 35:10Speaker 2: You had said when we interviewed you yesterday, you said
- 35:13Speaker 2: that if we got showers and thunderstorms overnight, you know, listen,
- 35:18Speaker 2: think six seven hours or so ago, that it may
- 35:21Speaker 2: decrease the severity of what we would see. I know
- 35:23Speaker 2: some areas did get some rain. I think I saw
- 35:25Speaker 2: where Jackson County got some. I think the Rohan County
- 35:28Speaker 2: area got some. But did we didn't get any. And
- 35:30Speaker 2: I saw by my wet pavement this morning the Charleston.
- 35:33Speaker 13: Area, right we had some of the showers and storms
- 35:36Speaker 13: that were actually we've got some out there right now.
- 35:38Speaker 13: As a matter of fact, we've got some that are
- 35:39Speaker 13: about back down across parts of Lincoln County, southern Lincoln
- 35:43Speaker 13: County working the way to the northeast. As a matter of fact, actually,
- 35:46Speaker 13: let me just put the radar in the emotion. He
- 35:48Speaker 13: in real quick, moving on to the east one of these,
- 35:50Speaker 13: So excuse me, you got to go into the Madison
- 35:52Speaker 13: area and also Danville.
- 35:54Speaker 3: We've got a couple of showers there.
- 35:55Speaker 13: So you know, we've got a couple of these showers
- 35:57Speaker 13: that we were just going to have us to radically
- 36:00Speaker 13: pop up here or there. But it's gonna be the
- 36:02Speaker 13: line of storms that moves in this afternoon, and that's
- 36:04Speaker 13: gonna be closer. That'll be somewhere to put between four
- 36:07Speaker 13: and five o'clock, most likely in Charleston. Now it could
- 36:11Speaker 13: be as early as three, but probably about round four
- 36:13Speaker 13: or five is going to be the best time for that.
- 36:15Speaker 13: And the tornado thread has increased across the area. I've
- 36:18Speaker 13: talked about this on Steve and Jenny this morning. The
- 36:20Speaker 13: Significant Tornado Parameter STP is produced by the various forecast models.
- 36:26Speaker 13: Now it was a product exclusively at the storm addictions
- 36:29Speaker 13: in Norman, Oklahoma, but they've been able to put into
- 36:32Speaker 13: forecast models. Now we're able to see that we're the anoma,
- 36:36Speaker 13: we're the anomaly of what we're doing with today is
- 36:39Speaker 13: significantly high, not just for West Virginia in general, but
- 36:43Speaker 13: for this time of year specifically. When we're looking at that,
- 36:47Speaker 13: Normally you would see that maybe get to one, maybe two,
- 36:51Speaker 13: and that's that would be a typical springtime extreme event.
- 36:55Speaker 13: We're seeing it anywhere from two to three and a
- 36:58Speaker 13: half to three point eight and that is significant across
- 37:02Speaker 13: parts of our parts of our region.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, we're talking with the meteorologist is Brian Hughes,
- 37:08Speaker 2: and so we were talking to the gas from the
- 37:10Speaker 2: Dirty Birds earlier. They're very hopeful that they'll be able
- 37:12Speaker 2: to get that game in tonight. But if it were
- 37:14Speaker 2: to be postponed, don't want to put any negative juju
- 37:16Speaker 2: out there, Brian, but if it were to be postponed,
- 37:18Speaker 2: it would probably be because of the of the lightning.
- 37:20Speaker 13: Right Yeah, it would be lightning because right now, I
- 37:22Speaker 13: mean I'm just looking up around Columbus right now, significant
- 37:25Speaker 13: significant lightning show that's happening there right now. The one
- 37:29Speaker 13: thing that we are looking at as we go into
- 37:31Speaker 13: this afternoon into this evening will be a significant amount
- 37:36Speaker 13: of lightning. You know, you've just got due points that
- 37:38Speaker 13: are incredibly high. You've got a tropical atmosphere that's sitting
- 37:42Speaker 13: on top of us. And then when you add the
- 37:45Speaker 13: upper level components that are all coming together, it means
- 37:47Speaker 13: we're going to have a significant a significant amount of lightning.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Because we're in the middle of July.
- 37:53Speaker 13: Anytime you get a thunderstorm popping up, it's going to
- 37:56Speaker 13: have a lot of lightning. But you add the cold
- 37:58Speaker 13: run end of the mix here everything else, this is going
- 38:00Speaker 13: to be a humdinger of a day for lightning and
- 38:03Speaker 13: thunder across the region.
- 38:04Speaker 3: So a lot of power outages.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and we haven't even mentioned the flooding because if
- 38:08Speaker 2: these if these storms, as we call it training, you know,
- 38:11Speaker 2: get over one area for any significant amount of time,
- 38:14Speaker 2: we could be seeing some flooding issues in many areas.
- 38:17Speaker 13: Yeah, we are at a matter of fact, one thing
- 38:19Speaker 13: I am concerned about. You know, here we are, we're
- 38:21Speaker 13: almost ten am. You know you've got let's see that'd
- 38:23Speaker 13: be I'm just I'm looking at the radar here specifically
- 38:26Speaker 13: there's ten uh, there would be eleven twelve one, you know,
- 38:30Speaker 13: probably in the north central parts of West Virginia. And
- 38:33Speaker 13: mind you this is here, we're here on the air locally,
- 38:36Speaker 13: but north central West Virginia is going to have a
- 38:37Speaker 13: better flooding opportunity back into the Panhandle and Pittsburgh Morgantown
- 38:42Speaker 13: area because of the storms that'll be passing by first.
- 38:44Speaker 13: But then you get the line later on and you've
- 38:47Speaker 13: got that's going to happen that's going to move through
- 38:49Speaker 13: here three four o'clock at three four five o'clock somewhere
- 38:52Speaker 13: in that timeframe. Then you get another line that's going
- 38:54Speaker 13: to happen behind that. You know, that's just going to
- 38:56Speaker 13: aggravate any sort of flash flowing that we might have
- 38:58Speaker 13: already had coming by the air. So the hierarchy of
- 39:01Speaker 13: what's the most important here today is that it's going
- 39:04Speaker 13: to be damaging wind will be the primary threat. Secondary
- 39:07Speaker 13: threat is going to be the tornado threat as we
- 39:09Speaker 13: go into the afternoon in early evening hours. Then after
- 39:12Speaker 13: that you've got obviously the lightning, thunder significant hell is
- 39:16Speaker 13: actually very low today.
- 39:17Speaker 3: We do get hell.
- 39:18Speaker 13: Let me tell you something, it'll be it'll be one
- 39:20Speaker 13: of the strongest storms we've had in a long time, but.
- 39:22Speaker 2: It'll be a halo of a hailstorm.
- 39:23Speaker 3: It'll be a hell of hellstrom that is for sure,
- 39:25Speaker 3: that about.
- 39:25Speaker 2: It if we get it, but you say we probably won't.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Yeah, the health's rate is very low today.
- 39:29Speaker 13: But then we've also got to look at what's happening
- 39:32Speaker 13: as we go into tonight, and that's when the flooding
- 39:34Speaker 13: risk continues to increase going into this evening and tonight,
- 39:37Speaker 13: so damaging win us down burst style wind which will
- 39:41Speaker 13: do significant damage. Matter of fact, a lot of folks
- 39:44Speaker 13: will think the tornado hip it's going to be straight
- 39:46Speaker 13: lined sort of win damaging flat.
- 39:47Speaker 2: It would be winded, not necessarily tornado. A lot of
- 39:49Speaker 2: people will think that, I.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Know, correct.
- 39:50Speaker 2: And if you got stuff outside, I mean I left
- 39:52Speaker 2: the house this morning. My wife was already out there
- 39:54Speaker 2: taking down plants and flags and things of that nature,
- 39:57Speaker 2: you know this morning.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's the thing.
- 39:59Speaker 13: You've just got to be prepared for what's going to
- 40:01Speaker 13: happen later on today. I you know, the one thing
- 40:04Speaker 13: I've said is that, you know a number of folks
- 40:06Speaker 13: here in the building have been like, when do I
- 40:07Speaker 13: need to go home? And I'm like, I honestly, I'd
- 40:10Speaker 13: say you start playing hookey about three four o'clock today,
- 40:14Speaker 13: just to get out ahead of the storm before it
- 40:16Speaker 13: gets in here, and that the way you're you're prepping
- 40:18Speaker 13: ready at home. I mean I'd rather have everybody at
- 40:21Speaker 13: home prepped with their kids, the pets, the whole nine
- 40:24Speaker 13: yards and saye than you know, trying to make the
- 40:27Speaker 13: almighty dollar the last.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Thing that they did. Now you know what you just did, though,
- 40:30Speaker 2: I know, I just you just know what. There's some
- 40:33Speaker 2: people out here right now that'll go, wait a minute,
- 40:35Speaker 2: you said that I should go home. It's like like
- 40:37Speaker 2: an early discressal in January.
- 40:38Speaker 6: But you.
- 40:41Speaker 13: Take this one and run with it. It's the only
- 40:43Speaker 13: time you're going to get this summer.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I mean, we all remember a couple of years ago,
- 40:47Speaker 2: the big storm that rolled through here. What was it
- 40:49Speaker 2: twenty twenty What do we have the tornado job every morning?
- 40:52Speaker 2: Twenty twenty two?
- 40:53Speaker 13: That was let's see, this is twenty six five, twenty four,
- 40:57Speaker 13: it was twenty.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Four a couple of was a couple of years ago, because.
- 41:01Speaker 3: I got twenty four. I think it's twenty twenty four.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Okay. I remember being in the building with that hit,
- 41:04Speaker 2: and that was that was kind of interesting being a
- 41:06Speaker 2: downtown Charleston with something like that hits. And the reason
- 41:09Speaker 2: I say this is because we talk about severe weather
- 41:11Speaker 2: all the time, but it's not every day that every
- 41:14Speaker 2: all the weather models come together and you say, we
- 41:16Speaker 2: got some concerns for today unlike what we've seen in
- 41:20Speaker 2: the past, right, fair statement, yes, or in the recent past.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I shouldn't. Yeah, it's mefic.
- 41:24Speaker 13: Actually, I can probably tell you the exact date that
- 41:26Speaker 13: we had that, because I remember I was on the
- 41:28Speaker 13: air doing all that. But yeah, that was a that
- 41:32Speaker 13: was twenty I think it was twenty twenty four.
- 41:35Speaker 2: All right, well he does that. I'll remind you that
- 41:37Speaker 2: Todave Island Show on five eighty Live is brought to

- 41:50Speaker 2: Dot Net helping you understand your environment because what you
- 41:53Speaker 2: don't know can't hurt you.
- 41:54Speaker 3: It was twenty twenty four, so I thought.
- 41:55Speaker 2: It was twenty twenty two. Okay, you're the one I
- 41:58Speaker 2: look at it up, all right. One of the things
- 42:00Speaker 2: I want to kind of address here with you and
- 42:02Speaker 2: other weather professionals, no matter where they may be right now.
- 42:06Speaker 2: And that is these graphics that you see constantly on
- 42:09Speaker 2: social media. You know, it's like the bane of existence
- 42:13Speaker 2: of serious weather forecasters, no matter whether JEW or one
- 42:15Speaker 2: of the TV stations, or or National Weather Service or whatever.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Because I keep seeing this map floating out there. This
- 42:21Speaker 2: is d ratio, And we all remember the ratio of
- 42:25Speaker 2: twenty twelve, how that all played out. That's just not
- 42:29Speaker 2: that kind of situation though.
- 42:30Speaker 13: No, because back then when we had that, when we
- 42:32Speaker 13: had the de ratio that moved through, we were looking
- 42:35Speaker 13: at the temperature was one hundred plus degrees. Our heat
- 42:38Speaker 13: index values were absurd. We had we had all the
- 42:42Speaker 13: juice that we have today. But you need those extreme
- 42:45Speaker 13: temperatures because then that storm system which is hundreds of
- 42:49Speaker 13: miles in length and is doing wind damage that is
- 42:53Speaker 13: seventy to one hundred miles per our wind gusts that
- 42:55Speaker 13: are all numerous spots along the line. You've got to
- 42:59Speaker 13: have something like that that it is significant. Now we've
- 43:02Speaker 13: had derachos since then. We've had a couple of them
- 43:04Speaker 13: pass by, a couple of them small, we've had a
- 43:06Speaker 13: couple of a couple of other ones that have just
- 43:09Speaker 13: been barely meeting the criteria, but nothing obviously like that one.
- 43:13Speaker 13: We're seventy five percent of the state was without power.
- 43:16Speaker 2: It's one of those terms that folks throw out there,
- 43:19Speaker 2: like blizzard. For example, an eight inch snowfall is notily
- 43:24Speaker 2: a blizzard, No, because blizzard is about the wind. It's
- 43:28Speaker 2: not about the snow.
- 43:29Speaker 13: Right and and that's the same thing that we look
- 43:31Speaker 13: at with this is that it's not about the It's
- 43:34Speaker 13: not about the actual wind when gus that you might
- 43:37Speaker 13: have in this one location. It's about the wind across
- 43:40Speaker 13: the entire line. Yeah, so you have thresholds that you
- 43:43Speaker 13: have to meet. But I can tell you this everybody
- 43:46Speaker 13: anytime we talk about wind and when being the primary
- 43:49Speaker 13: threat and they see a line of storms, they automatically
- 43:52Speaker 13: go to the d racho, you know, comparison. We can't
- 43:55Speaker 13: compare everything to the dracho that we had because that was,
- 43:59Speaker 13: as we talk talked about in the break. Uh, it
- 44:01Speaker 13: is once in a lifetime style event. Could have happened again, Yeah,
- 44:05Speaker 13: probably can it will, but uh, you know the fact
- 44:08Speaker 13: that the fact that we're going to take the entire
- 44:10Speaker 13: almost the entire state and knock it out of power.
- 44:13Speaker 13: Stuff like that. It's gonna it takes an act of Congress.
- 44:15Speaker 13: And what's happening right now across Ohio with the storms,
- 44:19Speaker 13: with the storms ramping up and moving off to the east,
- 44:22Speaker 13: that that would preclude us from having a durracho today
- 44:26Speaker 13: because it's taken the atmosphere and it's it's cutting it,
- 44:28Speaker 13: cutting the juice off right now. If we had clear
- 44:31Speaker 13: skies across so all of Ohio, man, you could have
- 44:35Speaker 13: a hell of a day as far as thunderstorms are
- 44:38Speaker 13: concerned today.
- 44:39Speaker 3: But we have a lot of clouds.
- 44:40Speaker 13: And those clouds out there are that's going to be
- 44:43Speaker 13: the clouds are going to be the catalyst in all
- 44:45Speaker 13: of this today. How thick are they? Where do we
- 44:48Speaker 13: get the sunshine? Where does the destabilization of the atmosphere occur?
- 44:51Speaker 13: And uh, you know, and what other what other things
- 44:54Speaker 13: are happening in the upper mid that we.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Don't want sunshine?
- 44:57Speaker 3: No, we don't, but no sunshine, we don't.
- 44:59Speaker 2: But I no sunshine when she's gone.
- 45:01Speaker 3: That is correct.
- 45:02Speaker 13: But when I look at the satellite imagery, I look
- 45:04Speaker 13: in southern Ohio, look at Cincinnati, Maysville, Kentucky, I look
- 45:08Speaker 13: back at the back at there Jackson, Kentucky. You go
- 45:11Speaker 13: up to even to the point Pleasant area, we've got
- 45:14Speaker 13: a little sunshine breaking through. So as we look at
- 45:18Speaker 13: that Matterick, I'm gonna turn some of this step off here,
- 45:22Speaker 13: some of this data that I've got and look at
- 45:24Speaker 13: what's all happening here. And yeah, you've got some of
- 45:27Speaker 13: his little showers developing. This line is from just near
- 45:30Speaker 13: Paintsful all the way back up to Madison, and a
- 45:34Speaker 13: couple of little showers are starting to pop off just
- 45:36Speaker 13: off to the north and east of Charleston. That little
- 45:38Speaker 13: line is going to move through. But we've got the
- 45:40Speaker 13: we've got the sunshine that's trying to break out in
- 45:42Speaker 13: southern Ohio and that's going to be what helps fuel

- 49:45Speaker 2: a delay in the trial and they're asking for a
- 49:47Speaker 2: change of venue and to steal and to seal the venue.
- 49:51Speaker 2: If it is changed. Now, it goes before Judge Hardy,
- 49:54Speaker 2: and as of now he hasn't ruled on it. A
- 49:57Speaker 2: pre trial hearing is sent for the twenty eighth of
