- 0:45Speaker 1: the interview.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, what's hoop? This is young Jerald g Eazy. Check
- 0:49Speaker 2: me out on my brother Blue Leg Cavs podcast. Let's go.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yo Boutlet cap show, Bluelet Cap Podcast special guests in
- 1:03Speaker 1: here my brother Man.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Easy Yeah, Yeah, welcome yeah Man. The new album is
- 1:08Speaker 2: that it feels good to be here Man, Yes, sir
- 1:10Speaker 2: Man an overdue, super overdue brother.
- 1:13Speaker 1: The new album Helium, Yeah, it's out now. Why the
- 1:16Speaker 1: name helium?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Helium? Uh well, it started with the song and I
- 1:22Speaker 2: just I think that word is interesting, and then the
- 1:25Speaker 2: metaphor of like something that you know you associated with,
- 1:29Speaker 2: you know, birthday balloons, celebration, you know, but it's fleeting,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know, like like a balloon that could be bright
- 1:36Speaker 2: and then it's flying, you know what I'm saying, could
- 1:39Speaker 2: also deflate and you know, it goes up, comes down
- 1:43Speaker 2: and it's like the fleetingness of you know, of these spikes,
- 1:47Speaker 2: these highs, these you know that comes with life, you know,
- 1:50Speaker 2: and also love, like something could lift you up, you know,
- 1:54Speaker 2: but you know, if it gets too high, you know
- 1:57Speaker 2: what I mean, you lose it, or if you hold
- 2:00Speaker 2: it too long, you know what I mean, it deflates.
- 2:03Speaker 2: And just kind of that I've always too all my music,
- 2:06Speaker 2: all my albums, I feel like, you know, it's it's
- 2:09Speaker 2: the Gemini nature, you know, but I've always written about
- 2:14Speaker 2: the hasandlos, right, right down to get in the bad,
- 2:18Speaker 2: the dark in the light. So it just it just
- 2:21Speaker 2: kind of fit. And I just think that word is
- 2:23Speaker 2: it's a good word. Yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 1: For sure. You have a song on here called after Dark. Yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 1: that is like a pretty like because you have these
- 2:33Speaker 1: I mean, you didn't say the girl's name on the
- 2:34Speaker 1: on the verse, but I think you blunk it out.
- 2:37Speaker 1: But I've met I might have met the fan you're
- 2:39Speaker 1: talking about, because I met a fan of yours at
- 2:41Speaker 1: a show in Orlando that had an insane amount of
- 2:44Speaker 1: your tattoos on their body. Yeah, but the whole entire
- 2:49Speaker 1: For people who don't know the song, go listen.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Well you should go listen to it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But it's also interesting take because it's like you have
- 2:55Speaker 1: these fans that are like, Yeah, particularly this one fan
- 2:59Speaker 1: who so dedicated to you, she gets a bunch of
- 3:01Speaker 1: tattoos and you see her at every single tour stop,
- 3:03Speaker 1: and then you eventually stop seeing her kind of break
- 3:06Speaker 1: down that record.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah. So basically, I mean, as much as it is, like,
- 3:09Speaker 2: you know, there's there's individual people that it's about. I
- 3:12Speaker 2: try not to ever write like anything that's so specific.
- 3:15Speaker 2: You have poetic license, you have creative freedom. You know
- 3:18Speaker 2: what I mean. And I don't want to single anybody out, sure,
- 3:20Speaker 2: but it's it's basically a culmination of like so early
- 3:23Speaker 2: in my career. I remember the first times because I've
- 3:27Speaker 2: always done meet and greets. I've always you know, hand
- 3:29Speaker 2: to hand, fan to fan, like face to face, like
- 3:31Speaker 2: that's how I built my whole core, you know. And
- 3:34Speaker 2: then I would see these fans that would keep coming
- 3:36Speaker 2: to shows, you know, keep buying meeting greets following the tour,
- 3:39Speaker 2: and eventually I'd be like, Yo, you don't have to
- 3:40Speaker 2: keep buying these, right, I appreciate you so much. You're
- 3:43Speaker 2: good for life, right right, right right, you know. And
- 3:45Speaker 2: some of them I've kept in touch with, like through
- 3:47Speaker 2: the years. Some I'll send music to before it's out
- 3:50Speaker 2: that I'm actually really good friends with, right, you know,
- 3:52Speaker 2: that have been to probably seventy five eighty ninety plus
- 3:56Speaker 2: shows literally right through like ten years of coming and
- 3:59Speaker 2: seeing me on tour. And but it's a weird feeling,
- 4:03Speaker 2: like you know, seeing a tattoo and I and I
- 4:07Speaker 2: see them, you know, all the time, though, but I
- 4:09Speaker 2: remember the first time it was jarring, like this huge
- 4:12Speaker 2: portrait of my face on somebody because something in it
- 4:16Speaker 2: was like, jan that's forever. You know, I'm attached to
- 4:19Speaker 2: you forever, no matter what, you know what I mean,
- 4:22Speaker 2: And and that, in a way is like a motivation
- 4:24Speaker 2: for me because it's like, all right, you can't give
- 4:26Speaker 2: up because you mean this to this person. But you know,
- 4:29Speaker 2: it also comes with a pressure of like living up
- 4:31Speaker 2: to who you see me as. And then you know
- 4:33Speaker 2: they would come back, you know, I'd see them a
- 4:36Speaker 2: year later on the next tour and they'd have five
- 4:38Speaker 2: more tattoos. Yeah, and then they have mad tattoos all
- 4:42Speaker 2: about me, And that that is like there's a there's
- 4:45Speaker 2: a pressure in that, there's an expectation. There's like also
- 4:48Speaker 2: like a whoa, you know, it's a lot. I didn't
- 4:49Speaker 2: ask you to do that, not in any type of
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm so appreciative to have fans that care that much.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But then the fear that like if they ever just
- 4:57Speaker 2: stop coming, it's like, wait, did I let you down?
- 5:00Speaker 2: Did I do something wrong? You know? And then I
- 5:03Speaker 2: kind of tried to base the sence the theme of
- 5:05Speaker 2: the song too, like that show Baby Reindeer, because it's
- 5:10Speaker 2: weird because the complex is this, you know, like it's
- 5:14Speaker 2: it's one thing to feel like somebody's obsessed with you,
- 5:17Speaker 2: but you kind of like to be worshiped, you know
- 5:20Speaker 2: what I mean. So there's that side artis're like, yeah, yo,
- 5:23Speaker 2: my my ego and my validation, my fuck with me
- 5:26Speaker 2: this much? Right, So so there's that aspect of it,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and there's that like you know, there's like damn if
- 5:35Speaker 2: they suddenly didn't you know, didn't love me anymore, right,
- 5:40Speaker 2: you know, that validation is taken from you, like did
- 5:44Speaker 2: I do something wrong? And then the whole song, the
- 5:47Speaker 2: punchline at the end is like, you know, I think
- 5:50Speaker 2: what we identified in each other, what we found in
- 5:53Speaker 2: each other and like about each other, was loneliness connected
- 5:56Speaker 2: us too, because I think music can be this powerful
- 5:59Speaker 2: thing where you you see some of yourself in the artist. Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I mean they're talking about something that you identify with too,
- 6:07Speaker 2: you know, and you have that bond, you know what
- 6:10Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So it's interesting too because do you think, like about
- 6:13Speaker 1: those fans where you're like, damn, I haven't seen this
- 6:16Speaker 1: person in like two tours.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Isn't it Because did the last album suck? Yeah? Or
- 6:22Speaker 2: did they just grow up? And like and I say
- 6:23Speaker 2: a line in the song, it's like or is it
- 6:25Speaker 2: just like that we all knew one day geezy or
- 6:28Speaker 2: something you don't grow you know what I mean. It's
- 6:30Speaker 2: that like humbling realization of you know, you can't assume
- 6:34Speaker 2: that because I like this music for this period of
- 6:37Speaker 2: my life that is forever, you know what I mean.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Sometimes it's like, you know, it's almost you moved on
- 6:43Speaker 2: with your life. You grew up, you got married, you
- 6:46Speaker 2: know what I mean, you got a career, right, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 2: you're not who you were when you found me twelve
- 6:51Speaker 2: thirteen years ago. Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 1: No, it's a dope song, dope concept too, because I
- 6:54Speaker 1: feel like it's I feel like there's a lot of
- 6:56Speaker 1: artists who have those type of fans, and I would say,
- 7:00Speaker 1: like the stand element was there, you know, yeah yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 1: but I feel like, you know, like you'll see like randomly,
- 7:07Speaker 1: not to compare you to insane clown posse, but sometimes
- 7:09Speaker 1: like I remember, I got pulled over ones and the
- 7:11Speaker 1: cop had a fucking juggalo hatchet man tattoo, and I
- 7:15Speaker 1: was like, highway patrolman is a Juggalo. I'm saying, like
- 7:21Speaker 1: that's crazy, right, Yeah, but no, it's it's an incredible record, man,
- 7:25Speaker 1: I like the Fighting Fuck Records two Man.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that's that's a vintage G classic. G Oh
- 7:31Speaker 2: so good. Let me get back to my toxic. Let
- 7:33Speaker 2: me get back to my like writing about you know,
- 7:37Speaker 2: up and down problematic relationship. Yeah, something something I know,
- 7:41Speaker 2: failure Will some I write about failure Will.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you about you had an album
- 7:47Speaker 1: that you took like a creative risk on yeah, where
- 7:50Speaker 1: you were singing twenty twenty Yeah, And I feel like
- 7:55Speaker 1: that was an album that you stepped out of.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I guess whatever like image we could.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You know that when we think of G we think
- 8:01Speaker 1: of the black leather jacket. We think that we don't
- 8:03Speaker 1: think of colors like you were kind of like.
- 8:05Speaker 2: No, my black shirt was still at the cleanest today.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I was like, he's gonna flip out when he sees
- 8:08Speaker 2: me in red Like.
- 8:09Speaker 1: No, I mean still but but but I feel like,
- 8:12Speaker 1: you know you you had tooken a lot of hits
- 8:14Speaker 1: for making that album, but I know that you you
- 8:17Speaker 1: love that album otherwise you want.
- 8:18Speaker 2: To pull it out. I mean I'll say it like this,
- 8:20Speaker 2: like you know, I get it, Like you go to McDonald's,
- 8:25Speaker 2: you know you want your your big mac or year.
- 8:28Speaker 2: You know, the fact that McDonald's doesn't really taste like
- 8:30Speaker 2: it did in the nineties anymore kind of messes me up. Like,
- 8:34Speaker 2: but you know, if I want a Coca Cola, I
- 8:36Speaker 2: don't want it to suddenly come in a purple can
- 8:38Speaker 2: and taste like sprite. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 8:41Speaker 2: there's but this is not just like product. This is
- 8:46Speaker 2: this is art, and you know two things. For one
- 8:50Speaker 2: thing is this, Like you keep thinking like, all right,
- 8:54Speaker 2: after the second album, if I win again, I'll be
- 8:56Speaker 2: able to make what I want to make right and
- 8:58Speaker 2: not saying it was necessarily that, but it's like you
- 9:00Speaker 2: kind of feel like, all right, maybe okay, find it.
- 9:02Speaker 2: If I go platinum three albums in a row, right
- 9:06Speaker 2: then I'll finally have bought myself the freedom if I
- 9:09Speaker 2: could just get some shit off, whether that's me just
- 9:11Speaker 2: doing like nineties hip hop shit or whether that's me
- 9:14Speaker 2: trying to experiment with some shit like this, I bought
- 9:17Speaker 2: myself that freedom. No, you never do. They just want
- 9:20Speaker 2: what they just want, like and that's not like a
- 9:25Speaker 2: bad thing because at the end of the day, this
- 9:27Speaker 2: thing we get to do, we have this privilege to do,
- 9:32Speaker 2: is at the highest honor, you know, like the fact
- 9:36Speaker 2: that I fell in love with something and I get
- 9:39Speaker 2: to do that thing I'm in love with for a living,
- 9:41Speaker 2: and I get to get money with my homies. I'm
- 9:45Speaker 2: of the luckiest people on the planet for sure, and
- 9:48Speaker 2: I'm incredibly appreciative of the job I do. Because everybody
- 9:50Speaker 2: has a job, they go to work. Not everybody gets
- 9:54Speaker 2: to like their job, right. This is work, right, So
- 9:57Speaker 2: who am I to think I can fuck off my job, right,
- 10:00Speaker 2: you know. But there's the art side of it that's like,
- 10:04Speaker 2: you know what, if something's in my heart that I
- 10:06Speaker 2: want to try. Andre doesn't want to rap anymore. He
- 10:09Speaker 2: wants to play flute. I think Andre earned the right
- 10:13Speaker 2: to walk around in blacksmith threes. Youven me a backpack
- 10:16Speaker 2: and carry a fluke. If Andre wants to, Andre gets
- 10:19Speaker 2: to you feel me, he's that goat. But there's still
- 10:21Speaker 2: people that's like banging on him that you feel me
- 10:24Speaker 2: come back and right, sure and rightfully, So that's fine.
- 10:27Speaker 2: That's how it goes, is what it is. The second
- 10:29Speaker 2: aspect is this COVID shutting the world down was such
- 10:33Speaker 2: a jarring thing for me because you know, I understand
- 10:38Speaker 2: like it was hard for a lot of people you know,
- 10:41Speaker 2: are uniquely unfortunately you know, I had, you know, financially
- 10:46Speaker 2: unity thing. It was in a position where for the
- 10:49Speaker 2: first time in my professional career I could kind of
- 10:51Speaker 2: fuck off. Sure you feel me, because it's like it's
- 10:56Speaker 2: a hamster wheel of like you know, in the studio,
- 10:59Speaker 2: make out, album, tour, tour, get right back in, you
- 11:02Speaker 2: feel me, like, put it out a promo, press run tour,
- 11:07Speaker 2: get right back in. There's no breaks, there's no Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You had like a five year I mean longer than
- 11:14Speaker 1: five years.
- 11:14Speaker 2: It was like I was gonna say, even prior to that,
- 11:16Speaker 2: it was the grinding, take the eighty grind. Yeah. So
- 11:18Speaker 2: really like twenty ten to twenty NonStop. I was living
- 11:23Speaker 2: out of suitcases, tour to tour to tour. You feel
- 11:27Speaker 2: me if I had a couple pairs of black jeans,
- 11:29Speaker 2: a black leather jacket and some black t shirts and toiletries,
- 11:32Speaker 2: socks and draws, you feel me and some Jordan's I'm
- 11:36Speaker 2: I'm good to be geazy. I don't need anything more
- 11:38Speaker 2: than that because all I know is work. But it
- 11:41Speaker 2: had drained me, you know, and I think you can
- 11:44Speaker 2: kind of hear it in the music. You can see
- 11:45Speaker 2: it on my face, you know. I was just like,
- 11:49Speaker 2: when is this When do I get to breathe? And
- 11:52Speaker 2: all of a sudden, the world stops and I don't
- 11:54Speaker 2: have sessions booked every other like every day, six days
- 11:57Speaker 2: out of the week, with different producers every single day
- 12:00Speaker 2: where I'm expected to go in and make three songs
- 12:02Speaker 2: for songs a night, you know, and try to get
- 12:04Speaker 2: the label happy, get management happy, you feel me deliver, Like.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like that was something like for you
- 12:12Speaker 1: where like I remember kind of being around you, being
- 12:15Speaker 1: in some of these sessions at that time, and it
- 12:16Speaker 1: was like it's like all right, but yeah, but we
- 12:19Speaker 1: need another one of these. God, but we got to
- 12:21Speaker 1: make another no limit, We got to make another.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Okay, let me just put my thinking hat on and
- 12:25Speaker 2: make it a little no limit.
- 12:26Speaker 1: But but but also I can also assume for you,
- 12:29Speaker 1: it was like you start to like second guess your
- 12:33Speaker 1: own self, hell, start to question like what like, well,
- 12:37Speaker 1: what I do is what got me here?
- 12:38Speaker 2: So how about unequivocally like trust trust me, you feel
- 12:43Speaker 2: me because I'm not like nobody right like like I
- 12:47Speaker 2: don't have a doppelganger. I don't have a you feel me.
- 12:49Speaker 2: You can't even parallel me to like who looks like
- 12:52Speaker 2: me is from you feel me and inspired and raised
- 12:56Speaker 2: by you feel me how and what I'm raised on.
- 12:58Speaker 2: You feel me and has the career I've had, And
- 13:00Speaker 2: it's like I never got where I got by by
- 13:06Speaker 2: like tracing another person's you feel me sound or track
- 13:10Speaker 2: or anything. So it's like, but in that time, I
- 13:14Speaker 2: felt like I was losing that power, that fearlessness, that
- 13:19Speaker 2: because it takes being delusional, it takes you know, the
- 13:22Speaker 2: imagination to invent something that doesn't exist. Yet you feel
- 13:26Speaker 2: me like you have to be so brave and so
- 13:30Speaker 2: a fearless leader to think to have the audacity you
- 13:34Speaker 2: feel me to think I could get up there and
- 13:35Speaker 2: jump around that stage in a leather jacket and talk
- 13:38Speaker 2: my shit and tour you feel me, amphitheaters and red rocks,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and you feel me and do all that. But it
- 13:46Speaker 2: it started to I started to dull because I felt
- 13:50Speaker 2: so much not micromanaging, but pressure and control to like
- 13:56Speaker 2: too many cooks in the kitchen of make another, no limit,
- 13:59Speaker 2: make a if we need this from you, we need
- 14:01Speaker 2: another of this from you. I'm like, fine, y'all, just
- 14:04Speaker 2: do it then like I'm trying to do what I'm
- 14:06Speaker 2: trying to do, because then I went so left right
- 14:09Speaker 2: and I had that freedom for this was that was
- 14:11Speaker 2: that you rebelling a bit against like I mean, yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 2: retros everybody like yeah in retrospect, not consciously consciously, it
- 14:18Speaker 2: was just like it was just me being free. And
- 14:22Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say it was. You can't quantify art
- 14:25Speaker 2: as good or bad or whatever. I know it wasn't
- 14:28Speaker 2: received as well it was good to you, yeah, but
- 14:32Speaker 2: it felt liberating and so for that, it's a when
- 14:34Speaker 2: you know.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I felt like to me, it was because I
- 14:37Speaker 1: do feel like you know, when you have a certain
- 14:39Speaker 1: level of success, it's it's we cannibalize, you know, our artists.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Like it's like it's like all right, well what's next,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you know, and if you if you go an album
- 14:51Speaker 1: without another you know, him and I are no limit
- 14:54Speaker 1: or O my god, whatever, it's like, well you fell off.
- 14:58Speaker 2: It's it's atrocious. It's for out here the hardest would
- 15:01Speaker 2: like give up, like their fucking you know that one
- 15:04Speaker 2: of them? Yeah, oh my god, I got a couple
- 15:07Speaker 2: of billion stream songs. Respects recognize a legend when you
- 15:11Speaker 2: see one.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Even the touring, Like there's guys who give up inches
- 15:14Speaker 1: off of their dick genuinely to be able to tour
- 15:17Speaker 1: the way you've toured in the last twelve months.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that far. Yeah, So I just I just.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Think, you know, I do feel like I felt like
- 15:25Speaker 1: you started to kind of get in your own head
- 15:27Speaker 1: and then at that time, Yeah, there's like this narrative
- 15:30Speaker 1: that like, I see Jack Harlow's blowing up at that time,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and it's like, then there's the whole white there can
- 15:35Speaker 1: only be one white guy at a time.
- 15:37Speaker 2: This town is not big enough for the both of us.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But yeah, it's like there could only be one. You know,
- 15:41Speaker 2: by the way that the record you and.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Jack put out was Dope, I forget, I forget what
- 15:44Speaker 1: the name during it was during the pandemic.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think I know because me and him
- 15:49Speaker 2: links early on you know his I remember he was
- 15:52Speaker 2: he was opening for Whiz and then he brought my
- 15:55Speaker 2: homie shouts out, all black, fucking all black. Yeah yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 2: all black is my brother for life, if you feel me.
- 16:01Speaker 2: But yeah, he brought he brought all black on his tour,
- 16:03Speaker 2: and I'm like, what you know about all black? Right,
- 16:05Speaker 2: you feel me. But I was like, I was like,
- 16:07Speaker 2: that's love. Sure, I told him, Matt. I was like, Yo,
- 16:09Speaker 2: thanks for bringing my brother that hell tight. And then
- 16:12Speaker 2: me and Jack linto in the studio and I was
- 16:13Speaker 2: in Atlanta and did that joint and it was just
- 16:17Speaker 2: solid ass dude. Yeah. Like from then it was like
- 16:20Speaker 2: it's really like people's character, you know, like integrity and
- 16:25Speaker 2: intentions and truthfulness and just like you know when somebody's valid,
- 16:28Speaker 2: when somebody's a real one, when somebody's a good person,
- 16:32Speaker 2: and you know, I'm like, man, I root for everybody
- 16:37Speaker 2: for sure, you know, but especially like you know, when
- 16:39Speaker 2: you're a great person in this industry, it's hard to find.
- 16:42Speaker 2: It's hard to find, bro, It's hard to find like
- 16:44Speaker 2: people you say, like that's genuinely my friend, versus like,
- 16:48Speaker 2: you know, just.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Like some fucking dude you say, we'll get in one day.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure you.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Uh. I want to talk to you about the Bay
- 16:55Speaker 1: thing because I've had I've had a lot of arguments
- 16:58Speaker 1: with people from the Bay Area about you your place
- 17:00Speaker 1: in Bay Areas history, because I think that there's just
- 17:05Speaker 1: there's just certain conversations that you that are just factual
- 17:08Speaker 1: because there's numbers that exist in this world. Like obviously
- 17:11Speaker 1: it's like mc hammer is most successful. Yeah you get
- 17:14Speaker 1: sold you too short, e forty, like you know whatever,
- 17:19Speaker 1: but for whatever, and and you know, the other thing
- 17:21Speaker 1: I always try to say is I don't know anybody
- 17:25Speaker 1: who was in a position that you've been in, with
- 17:28Speaker 1: the eyes that you've had on you that hasn't made
- 17:31Speaker 1: it a point to do every single thing they can.
- 17:34Speaker 2: To help put on the Bay. Yeah, from the Bay to.
- 17:37Speaker 1: The Universe tour, over and over. Yeah, I think the
- 17:40Speaker 1: first I mean, I remember you buy I am Sue
- 17:42Speaker 1: out on the road with you for neph the Pharaoh.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't even the first time I ever seen
- 17:51Speaker 2: was shooting with John. Yeah, for sure.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Do you feel like for like like like I feel
- 17:57Speaker 1: like you don't get amongst the Bay Area tastemakers the
- 18:03Speaker 1: respect you deserve in terms of like your place in
- 18:06Speaker 1: Bay Area.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Man hip hop history. Like it's like I don't I
- 18:16Speaker 2: don't entertain to even spend my energy, you know thinking
- 18:20Speaker 2: about that, even though as much as like I think
- 18:22Speaker 2: it's important to have chips on your shoulders sometimes like
- 18:25Speaker 2: if I'm being like like truthful, truthful, right, because I
- 18:28Speaker 2: weaponized those chips on my shoulder, you know. Like it's
- 18:31Speaker 2: like it's like when you watch the Last Dance, I
- 18:33Speaker 2: don't even think like Jordan like took like the ship
- 18:36Speaker 2: that other players were talking aid he just needed something
- 18:40Speaker 2: because it's like it's a long season. He got bored.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Just give me something to make me fucking want to
- 18:44Speaker 2: like rip your head off or something, or like you know,
- 18:47Speaker 2: and I use some of those things that like, you know,
- 18:49Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie, like it'll keep me up at
- 18:51Speaker 2: night or like wake me up out of my sleep.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Just anxiety, just stress just makes me go harder, you know.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And there's never knocking to be gas in my tank, correct,
- 19:00Speaker 2: you know. But at the end of the day, I'm
- 19:01Speaker 2: I know, I know who the fuck I am and
- 19:03Speaker 2: what I've done, you know. And it's like once you
- 19:06Speaker 2: realize that you could, you'll never make everybody happy. I'm
- 19:09Speaker 2: not tequila. You can't make everybody happy, you know. It's
- 19:12Speaker 2: like you just kind of have to like fundamentally have
- 19:17Speaker 2: a level of peace with it and resolving like self
- 19:20Speaker 2: knowledge because I know, like categorically you know numbers wise,
- 19:26Speaker 2: you feel me, I know I know how strong me
- 19:27Speaker 2: and Forty's bond is right. You know. I was just
- 19:30Speaker 2: on the phone with him the other day catching up
- 19:31Speaker 2: with uncle. You know, like I know me and you
- 19:34Speaker 2: know me and missus fabs bond, I know me and
- 19:36Speaker 2: kicks bond. I know, I know, I know me and
- 19:39Speaker 2: feel me like we was at an album released party
- 19:41Speaker 2: the other day and they had all my videos on
- 19:43Speaker 2: you on the TVs and to me myself and I
- 19:46Speaker 2: video and Pelo was in the video. You feel me
- 19:49Speaker 2: like I've done everything possible to always. You know, if
- 19:53Speaker 2: I have a light, I take it and I you know,
- 19:55Speaker 2: turn it and put that light on and share that
- 19:57Speaker 2: light with my region. For me, do I make the
- 20:00Speaker 2: most Bay Area of music? No? Right? You know every
- 20:03Speaker 2: album every hour have short forty. You feel me like
- 20:07Speaker 2: some slaps, but you know that's not my space, that's
- 20:10Speaker 2: not my place, that's not my you know, necessarily my job,
- 20:14Speaker 2: my calling, my you know, my thing. You know It's like,
- 20:18Speaker 2: but ask me, have I ever charged for a feature
- 20:21Speaker 2: for any Bay Area artist? Record for the love after that?
- 20:24Speaker 2: Has forty ever charged me? It's love and respect and
- 20:29Speaker 2: so artists and artists. I know where I stand in
- 20:31Speaker 2: relationship wise. You feel me from d lo to p
- 20:34Speaker 2: low to you feel me to sue everybody. So it's
- 20:37Speaker 2: like when I think about who's the taste makers, that's
- 20:41Speaker 2: not fucking with me, I'm like, I don't know. And
- 20:44Speaker 2: if they don't, then that's right, because tell me somebody
- 20:48Speaker 2: else who you feel me? Name two tours, everybody you
- 20:53Speaker 2: fe me? So what I ain't doing? Tell what I do?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Everybody from the Bay all over there, you know, world
- 20:58Speaker 2: and like I can't what do you want me to
- 21:01Speaker 2: move back home?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Right?
- 21:02Speaker 2: And just and just be in the Bay forever. You
- 21:04Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like I never said I said
- 21:06Speaker 2: to the universe. For sure you feel me. I want
- 21:08Speaker 2: the world and and I'll try to you don't do
- 21:11Speaker 2: everything I can. I always I always reach back, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 2: I see, I see you know my homies telling me
- 21:17Speaker 2: like put me on some some new shit that's popping out. No,
- 21:20Speaker 2: you always are popping up on people. It's always been

- 23:44Speaker 1: I want to know too, man, Like, you know, I
- 23:46Speaker 1: was fortunate enough to hang out with your mom a lot.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I smoked weed with your mom. Yeah, she was the sweetest,
- 23:52Speaker 1: sweetest lady man. And uh, you know, I know how
- 23:55Speaker 1: important she was, just like to your fans because you
- 23:58Speaker 1: had talked about her so much in your music prior
- 24:00Speaker 1: to her passing. What you know, losing your mom I
- 24:03Speaker 1: know was a life.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Changing event for you.
- 24:07Speaker 1: How did that just kind of like affect just you
- 24:11Speaker 1: as a obviously you know, I know it was her
- 24:13Speaker 1: birthday recently, but I mean that has to kind of
- 24:17Speaker 1: like also just pour onto like how you're feeling in
- 24:21Speaker 1: the studio, how you're feeling creatively, Like, what do I
- 24:24Speaker 1: know you lost your rock?
- 24:25Speaker 2: You know, you know you lost, that's it. Yeah, you
- 24:31Speaker 2: lost for a long time. And grief is this nonlinear process.
- 24:37Speaker 2: It comes in these waves. It's not you know, some
- 24:41Speaker 2: days you think you're find Some days it hits you
- 24:43Speaker 2: like a title live. Sometimes for a reason, like you know,
- 24:48Speaker 2: a holiday or berthday, or you know a song plays
- 24:52Speaker 2: or something like that. But sometimes it's for no reason
- 24:55Speaker 2: at all. I just hits you. And but the thing is,
- 24:58Speaker 2: grief doesn't go away until you finally, you know, like
- 25:03Speaker 2: try to heal it. Yeah, And I actually I had
- 25:06Speaker 2: written like about this in a song. I worked on cases.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Like they say, grief doesn't go away till you finally
- 25:12Speaker 2: hear heal it. Layers of the iron, I feel it,
- 25:14Speaker 2: mis water. I feel it like I dance with all
- 25:17Speaker 2: my devils and my angels now out there wheel it
- 25:21Speaker 2: like you really got to do the work. You gotta
- 25:24Speaker 2: feel it. You gotta lean into it, you gotta cry,
- 25:26Speaker 2: you got to cry it out. You gotta and then
- 25:28Speaker 2: you eventually learn how to like when it comes you.
- 25:30Speaker 2: You know you you remember the the highs, the good
- 25:34Speaker 2: times to you know that you celebrate her like it's crazy.
- 25:39Speaker 2: On her birthday. The other day, we were on tour,
- 25:42Speaker 2: and I hadn't been performing you know, either Love You
- 25:47Speaker 2: Forever or Angel you know, two songs I've done in
- 25:50Speaker 2: honor of her on you know in the set list,
- 25:54Speaker 2: because to me, those songs are so powerful. It's like
- 25:57Speaker 2: I can't if I can't let those become memory, like
- 26:01Speaker 2: you feel me like those yeah, like you know, I
- 26:04Speaker 2: can't share that with everybody. I can't do that every night.
- 26:07Speaker 2: So but it was her birthday, so we added in
- 26:09Speaker 2: the set list, and I mean I cried my eyes
- 26:13Speaker 2: out on stage singing the song. It was just beautiful moment.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But something crazy happened because so when she would come
- 26:18Speaker 2: to the shows, You'll remember this. When she would watch,
- 26:20Speaker 2: she would always be in that pit, but but slightly
- 26:22Speaker 2: to stage right. It was great because she always be there.
- 26:25Speaker 2: She'd be smoking, she'd never backwards hat on you feel Me,
- 26:27Speaker 2: You'd be like right there, you feel me? And she
- 26:30Speaker 2: probably walk over past you a joint like, but she
- 26:33Speaker 2: was there. It was crazy because she would never be
- 26:36Speaker 2: on this side of the stage. She'd be like and
- 26:38Speaker 2: I never really thought about that, Like it hadn't encurrege
- 26:41Speaker 2: to me until on her birthday, and I just for something,
- 26:44Speaker 2: I looked down to her spot, just not intentionally, and
- 26:49Speaker 2: it was like she was there, you feel me swear
- 26:53Speaker 2: on everything like and and instead of like, you know,
- 26:58Speaker 2: me just dropping to the forem ball, it was like
- 27:00Speaker 2: because I saw her smiling and she would just be
- 27:03Speaker 2: so happy, like with the beamingest eyes of just you know,
- 27:08Speaker 2: so proud of me, and she'd be doing her little
- 27:12Speaker 2: dance like you know, like and I felt that and
- 27:17Speaker 2: it was beautiful and you know, you you that changed
- 27:22Speaker 2: a whole lot. You know, it was like a pivot
- 27:25Speaker 2: of a day where I started to think of her
- 27:29Speaker 2: in more like happy ways, you know, like that's a
- 27:33Speaker 2: big step, yeah, you like, and that's I mean, it's
- 27:36Speaker 2: been like four years, like you know, so going on,
- 27:40Speaker 2: so you know, like you you remember all the you know,
- 27:45Speaker 2: the the good, the positive, the because she was man,
- 27:49Speaker 2: she was a gangster. She was so cool, way cooler
- 27:52Speaker 2: than me, dressed held good, effortless and tell it brilliant
- 27:59Speaker 2: and uh you know, and then it's crazy. So a
- 28:02Speaker 2: few days later, we're in Sack and uh, Neph couldn't
- 28:07Speaker 2: make it because he had a show. But Neph's mom,
- 28:09Speaker 2: who was really tight with my mom, came and Neft's son,
- 28:14Speaker 2: Baby Nef came and I've known baby never since he
- 28:17Speaker 2: was about this big.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Right, like a ten years since big Timing came out.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Big time, ten years since Nephel was on the road
- 28:25Speaker 2: of me going around the world in London with me.
- 28:27Speaker 2: That's crazy. You feel me, Nephi Pharaoh, you know, where
- 28:30Speaker 2: a roless and like you feel me like like man.
- 28:33Speaker 2: So now baby Nephi is like a whole human right,
- 28:38Speaker 2: you know what I mean, He's like a person now.
- 28:40Speaker 2: And it was so dope getting to see him, hug him,
- 28:42Speaker 2: you feel me bring him up on stage, you know.
- 28:45Speaker 2: But I asked Neph's moms if she was sitting in
- 28:48Speaker 2: my mom's spot because she knew the spot because she
- 28:51Speaker 2: would be there with my moms. You feel me, and
- 28:55Speaker 2: and you know, getting to hug her before and after
- 28:58Speaker 2: the show, I felt like I was talking my mom
- 29:01Speaker 2: because she shared so much of my mom's energies, you know.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And it's crazy. I mean, I'm not about to cry now.
- 29:07Speaker 2: But she gave me a gift. I forget if it
- 29:13Speaker 2: was before or after the show. You know, she wrapped
- 29:16Speaker 2: it up and I knew it was a book and
- 29:18Speaker 2: I knew what it was, you know, open it and
- 29:21Speaker 2: it's Lovey Forever, which is this children's book that my
- 29:24Speaker 2: mom would read me, you know, And that's why I
- 29:27Speaker 2: named that song after that, And and that's Mom's had.
- 29:33Speaker 2: You know. She got me that book and she wrote
- 29:35Speaker 2: on the inside and she says she used to read
- 29:37Speaker 2: that book, you know. I mean it was just just crazy,
- 29:40Speaker 2: like whoa. So in that sense, my mom's still here
- 29:45Speaker 2: and everybody that she knew and everything that she gave me,
- 29:49Speaker 2: you know, yeah, man, I just knew.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I remember when that happened, you know, for I think
- 29:53Speaker 1: for people who weren't close to you, it was just
- 29:55Speaker 1: so unexpected because we're like, wait a minute, like mom was.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Part of the crew.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Man, oh yeah, and it was just I remember just
- 30:01Speaker 1: being like, damn bro, like that one hit. So, I mean,
- 30:04Speaker 1: your mom was great, dude, And I can only imagine
- 30:06Speaker 1: like losing your mom. That's like all of our worst
- 30:09Speaker 1: that's all of our worst.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Nightmares, is parent you know? Yeah, absolutely, I mean, and
- 30:15Speaker 2: my mom would always tell me this. You know, you
- 30:17Speaker 2: don't compare pain or anything, but I will say, you know,
- 30:20Speaker 2: because because mothers are the superheroes of the world, they
- 30:23Speaker 2: literally are the creators of life for sure. You know
- 30:26Speaker 2: we all have them, everyone, So you know there's a
- 30:30Speaker 2: piece of view that's gone because that's how you got here.
- 30:34Speaker 1: You know, for sure, do you feel like the last
- 30:37Speaker 1: four or five years, because you know, I feel like
- 30:42Speaker 1: you've you've I know, you've gone through like a few
- 30:44Speaker 1: different like management situations, you had the OG guys. But
- 30:47Speaker 1: in terms of like quote unquote music friends, have you
- 30:53Speaker 1: seen or noticed a lot of people I guess switch
- 30:56Speaker 1: up on you a bit over the last few years.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I mean, here's how you like when you're when you're up,
- 31:06Speaker 2: when you're on the charts, when you're you know, when
- 31:09Speaker 2: you're rolling, you know, when you're selling. It's like the
- 31:11Speaker 2: amount of feature requests, the amount of you know, reach out.
- 31:15Speaker 2: But that's like, you know, I just I just take
- 31:18Speaker 2: it everything for what it is. You know what I'm saying.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I'm not personal. No, I'm not like I'm not thinking that.
- 31:24Speaker 2: You know, I know that that's an A and R guy, man,
- 31:26Speaker 2: Like you should get Gezy on this one, because this
- 31:28Speaker 2: sounds exactly like you know, you should get him on
- 31:30Speaker 2: the pop song on this They're like the future right now,
- 31:33Speaker 2: who's hot? So it's like I'm not like so, it's
- 31:36Speaker 2: not like I'm taking it as like you know, I'm
- 31:38Speaker 2: just gamed up. So I'm like, you want me because
- 31:40Speaker 2: it's there, not because you genuinely you feel me. Yeah. Nah,
- 31:44Speaker 2: So I would never like if you, you know, switch
- 31:47Speaker 2: up or this, that and the other. I never thought
- 31:48Speaker 2: she was like we weren't we were we weren't. But
- 31:52Speaker 2: also I'm just like, man, I'm like I said, Man,
- 31:55Speaker 2: I'm gamed up. I'm hipto, like, so, I can't. You can't.
- 31:58Speaker 2: You can't. You're gonna hurt my It's like, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 2: and I'm not. I'm also not somebody like I hate
- 32:04Speaker 2: reaching out to artists, you know. I just think that
- 32:07Speaker 2: shit is corny, Like I feel like there's never really
- 32:10Speaker 2: anything you did if I show love, but the reaching
- 32:14Speaker 2: out asking for features and favors and and looks like
- 32:16Speaker 2: I would get pressure to do it from my label
- 32:20Speaker 2: or team, you know, to be like we got this song,
- 32:23Speaker 2: this would sound great with so and so saying the hook.
- 32:26Speaker 2: You've met them at festivals, shows, they fuck with you. You know,
- 32:30Speaker 2: We've reached out to their team. It's not going nowhere.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Artists to artists always the best way. I'm like don't
- 32:35Speaker 2: come make me do.
- 32:36Speaker 1: It, make me slide.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm not so cringey because then because then if they
- 32:41Speaker 2: you feel me like the worst is like you got
- 32:44Speaker 2: to hit somebody with the yo with the three o's,
- 32:47Speaker 2: you know, and then bullshit, a little catch up, how
- 32:49Speaker 2: you've been, bro, you feel me? How you living? YadA YadA,
- 32:52Speaker 2: and then four or five texts in you get today, Yo,
- 32:54Speaker 2: I got this record, Like I hate that ship. That's
- 32:58Speaker 2: just not in my character. And I like I get
- 33:00Speaker 2: it though, you know. And also it's like there's also
- 33:03Speaker 2: the aspect of you know, your record has to sell,
- 33:07Speaker 2: you got it? You feel me like if you could
- 33:09Speaker 2: get somebody like that that's big, that'll shift the needle,
- 33:12Speaker 2: like and it takes you just swallowing your pride a
- 33:15Speaker 2: little bit to get something done.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Okay, but yeah, I mean I feel like a lot
- 33:20Speaker 1: of your features, like you know, you and Gotti and
- 33:23Speaker 1: Namir were on tour together.
- 33:24Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Yeah, oh yeah. And it's
- 33:27Speaker 2: like the amount of times in my life and career
- 33:30Speaker 2: that people have told me that, you know, after it
- 33:34Speaker 2: just it just takes like ten minutes or more, like
- 33:36Speaker 2: anybody who's actually gotten to talk to me for like
- 33:39Speaker 2: ten minutes or more. It's like if I had a
- 33:42Speaker 2: fucking dollar. Every time I've heard bro, I had no
- 33:44Speaker 2: idea you were this person. You feel me like you like,
- 33:48Speaker 2: so you take a Gotti like you spend the summer
- 33:50Speaker 2: with me. He's like, yeah, he's a real one. I'll
- 33:51Speaker 2: suck with you for me, like I will pop out,
- 33:54Speaker 2: like if y g had to after party, I would
- 33:56Speaker 2: just go pull up the haship with him. You feel
- 33:58Speaker 2: me just for love Gotti and they would pull up
- 34:00Speaker 2: to my shit like we would all hang out right
- 34:03Speaker 2: like you know, we in the parking lot to the
- 34:05Speaker 2: you know, the amators all summer like kicking it, actually
- 34:08Speaker 2: kicking it right, doing songs, you know, on each other's buses.
- 34:11Speaker 2: It's like drinking and watching each other's sets, like there's
- 34:14Speaker 2: a brotherhood of camaraderie, you know. I mean like I
- 34:17Speaker 2: really fucked with it for sure.
- 34:19Speaker 1: You know, like when you guys did the the Fuck
- 34:22Speaker 1: Donald Trump remix. Yeah, that was a big moment because
- 34:25Speaker 1: I feel like you were on tour that YG was
- 34:27Speaker 1: on tour with you that came out because I.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Feel like I was.
- 34:30Speaker 1: It's funny because I was moving from Tampa back to
- 34:32Speaker 1: Phoenix and I stopped in Houston to go to that tour. Yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 1: and that's when I first heard the remix because it
- 34:38Speaker 1: was what you maclamore or g That was a big
- 34:41Speaker 1: moment and that's like, I feel like that's like hip
- 34:43Speaker 1: hop's last great protest song.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I want to give a shout out to our family
- 34:47Speaker 2: at odds Socks.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Whatever you're into, odd Socks hasn't covered all right, the
- 34:50Speaker 1: most comfortable socks in the world. By the way, those
- 34:52Speaker 1: Happy Gilmore joints are insane. The rent and Stempiece, the Medellos.
- 34:56Speaker 1: It's Modello time with the monopoly. What are we doing
- 34:59Speaker 1: with the Ninja Turtles. Also, they got your boxes on lock,
- 35:02Speaker 1: they got your draws odd Socksofficial dot com music promo
- 35:05Speaker 1: co Bootleg right now, you'll save twenty percent off.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Let's get back to the interview.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Hey, you want to give a shout out to our
- 35:10Speaker 1: family at Hard dean Man for sponsoring that episode of
- 35:13Speaker 1: the Bootleg cap podcast. I just got back from Vegas
- 35:16Speaker 1: and I picked up some goodies. All right, Look, the
- 35:18Speaker 1: number one dispensary in the world. When you're in Vegas,
- 35:23Speaker 1: make sure you pull up.
- 35:24Speaker 2: We got so much.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Gas in here.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Shout out to Hardy.
- 35:27Speaker 1: You're in Vegas, man, pull up to hardi En when
- 35:29Speaker 1: you get in that taxi cab. As soon as you land,
- 35:31Speaker 1: say take me to Hardean, follow him Hardan Underscore Las Vegas.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Hard Dean Las Vegas. Shall shout out to them. Of
- 35:36Speaker 1: course we bang that hard Dean baby. You already know
- 35:39Speaker 1: what it is, man, I do feel like that. Fuck
- 35:41Speaker 1: Donald Trump. It's probably the last great protest song and
- 35:44Speaker 1: hip hop. You were on the remix on Toro YG
- 35:48Speaker 1: at the time. That was a wild era. That was
- 35:52Speaker 1: right around that was.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Twenty sixteen, twenty sixteen. Yeah, yeah, And I remember that
- 35:59Speaker 2: summer on that tour because we would performing every single night.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I don't care if we're in Alabama, you know, I
- 36:06Speaker 2: mean yeah, like, if you feel something to standing on it,
- 36:10Speaker 2: don't just say it in California, you feel me, I
- 36:13Speaker 2: say that ship. We're everywhere. And you know, we had
- 36:16Speaker 2: a huge led wall, you know, on on that big
- 36:20Speaker 2: ass Amphitheater stage, you know, and he would come out
- 36:23Speaker 2: during during my set headlining fifteen thousand people with a
- 36:28Speaker 2: huge red led wall with big bold sense of all
- 36:32Speaker 2: cap hel vedica letters. Fuck Donald Trump, just there the
- 36:37Speaker 2: whole song, and I would see people leave because like
- 36:42Speaker 2: like cool, like bounce you feel me. We also had
- 36:46Speaker 2: like you know, booths set up, you know, to sign
- 36:49Speaker 2: up to vote. Yeah, I come from a lineage of
- 36:54Speaker 2: strong women, you know, activism, counterculture, protest and and you know,
- 37:00Speaker 2: I was raised very liberal, you know, very very very
- 37:06Speaker 2: very left, but like you know, growing up in the
- 37:08Speaker 2: Bay Area of course, with a long rich history of
- 37:10Speaker 2: counter culture and activism. Of course from the Panthers. You
- 37:14Speaker 2: feel me too, you know, summer love you feel I mean,
- 37:18Speaker 2: like all that. So like you know, like us doing
- 37:22Speaker 2: that song, you know, and and still to this day,
- 37:26Speaker 2: like I'll play that, you know, even if I just
- 37:29Speaker 2: dropped the hook. I'll say, like, you know, before we
- 37:32Speaker 2: go any further in the show. You know, we were
- 37:35Speaker 2: in Europe. I'm like, you know, there's some fucked up
- 37:37Speaker 2: shit going on in my country. You know. Sorry y'all,
- 37:40Speaker 2: but I'm gonna say how the fuck I feel. And
- 37:42Speaker 2: this is how I feel. Fuck Donald Trump, you feel mean,
- 37:45Speaker 2: And I just you know, not to create even more division,
- 37:49Speaker 2: because I think we're in the most divided time right now,
- 37:52Speaker 2: you know, But like you gotta you gotta, you gotta
- 37:57Speaker 2: stand on it. You gotta say how you feel. Like
- 37:59Speaker 2: the day man, it's like, and I'm not saying artists
- 38:03Speaker 2: like we're not politicians. We're not that's not our job.
- 38:07Speaker 2: But this is a requid, like a required conversation to
- 38:12Speaker 2: be having. Yeah, because you can't just sit passively, you know,
- 38:16Speaker 2: this is dialogue. That's that like a civic duty you feel.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I mean as somebody like I could be kicking it
- 38:22Speaker 2: with the homies, you know, or like at a at
- 38:25Speaker 2: a bar or something like that, but there's one person
- 38:27Speaker 2: chances are the bar that has a device in his
- 38:29Speaker 2: pocket that could talk to ten million people. You know.
- 38:32Speaker 2: I mean not saying that that I could shift a
- 38:35Speaker 2: needle or do anything, but it's like there's a special
- 38:37Speaker 2: responsibility to just just if something bothers.
- 38:41Speaker 1: You, if something if you feel strongly about something to
- 38:43Speaker 1: that point, Yeah, it's almost like you're you know, the
- 38:48Speaker 1: responsibility of having that many people having eyes on you.
- 38:51Speaker 1: It's it's almost irresponsible to be signed. That's why I
- 38:54Speaker 1: respect so much with Kayliney and maclamore doing standing up
- 38:58Speaker 1: so strong for Palestine because it's no it's like so
- 39:01Speaker 1: many people are worried about whatever the blowback is it
- 39:03Speaker 1: comes from that. And it's like Kaylan is like, I
- 39:06Speaker 1: don't get fuck like this is a human issue. This
- 39:09Speaker 1: is not a this is like and you know, shout
- 39:12Speaker 1: out to Macamore, same ship, like ship Maclamore is fucking
- 39:16Speaker 1: shots to Maclamore.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Shot man, great great humans, bro, just like a good dude.
- 39:22Speaker 1: I never did know weirdo ship like you know, like yeah,
- 39:26Speaker 1: shout out to him. But now I always thought that, like,
- 39:29Speaker 1: you know, I just had Chuck Dion and we're talking.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I'll say, man, like, I don't know, you know, when
- 39:36Speaker 1: I was growing up, we had like a mortal technique.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and we shot out.
- 39:41Speaker 1: We had like some like real dope, you know, politically
- 39:44Speaker 1: charged hip hop to learn from. And I said, I
- 39:46Speaker 1: was like the last great like I don't know who
- 39:49Speaker 1: our pe is. And I said, I said the last
- 39:51Speaker 1: great like protest song was fuck Donald Trump.
- 39:54Speaker 2: And also, but what was so brilliant about Donald Trump
- 39:57Speaker 2: is the simplicity of the hook. It was also a banger.
- 40:01Speaker 2: It was a absolute slap, like absolute slap.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Play that ship in the club.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Even if you voted for Trump, You're like, this is
- 40:10Speaker 2: I can't A lot of that should be gone.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I also think to like hip hop's growing to the
- 40:14Speaker 1: point where so many people are fans of the music
- 40:19Speaker 1: from everywhere because of the Internet. So it's like it's
- 40:22Speaker 1: almost like, you know, there's so many people who are
- 40:26Speaker 1: like fans of the music that aren't necessarily Like.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Little Baby had a real strong record. I don't remember it.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I remember the Baby's verse on the Rockstar remix was dope.
- 40:36Speaker 2: No, no, no, Little Baby did have and he had
- 40:38Speaker 2: that like it was I'm not gonna say it's a
- 40:40Speaker 2: protest song, but it was yeah, like you know, socially
- 40:45Speaker 2: like right commentary. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I just remember listening to Immortal Technique and find out
- 40:50Speaker 1: about c I sy ops and all kinds of crazy
- 40:52Speaker 1: ship killing, killing, killing, my killing, my killing, I gotta
- 40:55Speaker 1: say killing killing.
- 40:57Speaker 2: But things like you lose the kids when it gets
- 40:59Speaker 2: to like you know, you weren't heavy to lyrical miracle Spiritu,
- 41:02Speaker 2: You're like, no, you're right. It's almost like it's almost
- 41:04Speaker 2: like so then then you missed the whole, Like the
- 41:07Speaker 2: point of like you I mean, and you you get
- 41:09Speaker 2: like protests is like, you know, marching and chanting one thing,
- 41:13Speaker 2: so so then you equate that to fuck Donald Trump.
- 41:16Speaker 2: That's still equivalent, right, that was really the perfect That
- 41:18Speaker 2: really is a perfect protest on perfect because it wasn't
- 41:21Speaker 2: it was good.
- 41:22Speaker 1: It's like sonically like I can hear this in the
- 41:24Speaker 1: club and keep dancing.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Damn. Yeah, such a great record, man, i'mna start i'mna
- 41:28Speaker 2: start playing that every time DJ again. Yeah, are you
- 41:31Speaker 2: still djaming? I love DJing, bro.
- 41:33Speaker 1: You know what's funny is I was with you at
- 41:34Speaker 1: eleven in Miami. Yeah, a couple of years ago.
- 41:37Speaker 2: I had a good time. Uh not too.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Yeah, you came up and to hear me, but I
- 41:41Speaker 1: was probably very surprised how good of a DJ you were.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Like you were like fucking beat matching and.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Ship and I was like, oh shit, yeah, QUS talked
- 41:50Speaker 1: this guy some ship man.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I mean the thing is, you know I've been making
- 41:54Speaker 2: beats since you were there. Yeah. I I've been making
- 41:56Speaker 2: beat since I was thirteen. A lot of people don't
- 41:58Speaker 2: know that. Like I got started making beats and you know,
- 42:02Speaker 2: and then I started writing raps. But like because I
- 42:04Speaker 2: had like we had like a little click like a
- 42:06Speaker 2: rap group, and I was always kind of the one
- 42:08Speaker 2: like making the beats, like maybe you know, it wasn't
- 42:10Speaker 2: until like seventeen eighteen, I was like, wait, I could
- 42:14Speaker 2: I could be the star you feel me. I could
- 42:17Speaker 2: be a solo act I'm feel me. Like one day
- 42:20Speaker 2: I realized like shit, wait no, I'm handsome, right, I
- 42:23Speaker 2: could be a star. Like I'm like in love with
- 42:26Speaker 2: the work part of it, like I'll work my ass
- 42:27Speaker 2: off to like you feel I mean, and like managing
- 42:31Speaker 2: a bunch of other egos and like energies is a lot.
- 42:34Speaker 2: So it was like, wait, I could just embrace that
- 42:37Speaker 2: idea of like me rapping but being my own engineer,
- 42:42Speaker 2: being my own producer. I can't like I can hear
- 42:45Speaker 2: a song and be within three beats per minuted and
- 42:47Speaker 2: tell you what it is what it is because I
- 42:49Speaker 2: just my brain knows the math of music. So it's
- 42:54Speaker 2: like DJing comes natural.
- 42:55Speaker 1: I feel like if you're a producer or like you're
- 42:57Speaker 1: very engaged in your music process, yea, DJing is like
- 43:01Speaker 1: second Nate checking Nate.
- 43:02Speaker 2: But that should be so fun because like I get
- 43:05Speaker 2: to be at the party, but I'm not gonna lie.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Sometimes I'm in a section and it's like this is
- 43:10Speaker 2: not fun for me. I want to, like everybody'd almost
- 43:13Speaker 2: rather be like yo, the DJ off coming how far
- 43:15Speaker 2: I'm like you literally and like I just comment here
- 43:18Speaker 2: you family, take over to DJ and and get on
- 43:21Speaker 2: because then, like I mean, at least you have your
- 43:23Speaker 2: little isolated space, see, and I just bombarded with like right,
- 43:27Speaker 2: you know, and then it's so satisfying when you mix
- 43:29Speaker 2: something perfectly and you drop that shit in a crowd
- 43:31Speaker 2: of crazy like for sure, yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Yo, uh do you remember at what point in time?
- 43:38Speaker 1: Because you know, I always say like, you guys came
- 43:41Speaker 1: into the game and it felt very I've never seen
- 43:44Speaker 1: someone take so much like intention with the way they
- 43:48Speaker 1: would package their merch, they would send shit out, and
- 43:50Speaker 1: just the fan experiences that were just so I remember
- 43:53Speaker 1: you would take the homie on the road who was
- 43:55Speaker 1: cutting hair for the fans, and yeah, there was just
- 43:58Speaker 1: this cultivated experience that I had never seen before an
- 44:03Speaker 1: artist do it. And and also I always would say like,
- 44:05Speaker 1: you guys were like the apple of hip hop like
- 44:07Speaker 1: ten years ago, because no matter how big or small
- 44:10Speaker 1: the venue were very high compliment. Like I'd be like, oh,
- 44:12Speaker 1: you go to a G show, It's got a feeling,
- 44:14Speaker 1: there's an aesthetic to it. But I remember you weren't
- 44:17Speaker 1: always necessarily like doing that, Like, when did you figure
- 44:20Speaker 1: that part out? Because that, to me was a big
- 44:23Speaker 1: reason why you were able to come into the game
- 44:25Speaker 1: with this.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Well for insane thank you following like thank you, that's
- 44:29Speaker 2: really high praise. And I got to say that and
- 44:31Speaker 2: shout out and give flowers to Maddie B and Jamil. Yeah,
- 44:36Speaker 2: of course, shout to Maddie B. Man. You know, Rose
- 44:38Speaker 2: grew my management. You know, we we met in college.
- 44:42Speaker 2: And mind you, I'm you know, I came from Oakland,
- 44:45Speaker 2: like I'm I get to New Orleans. I'm on like
- 44:48Speaker 2: three scholarships and a grant to get there, Like I'm not.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I'm like, this is a whole new world to me
- 44:53Speaker 2: being in this college environment. I'm just you know, I
- 44:56Speaker 2: set up my little setup. You're feeling me the k
- 45:00Speaker 2: our kids and you know, a little mboxtal inbox back then.
- 45:05Speaker 2: And at the time, I'm like and I'm just kind
- 45:08Speaker 2: of isolated, introvert because I'm not relating to a lot
- 45:11Speaker 2: of what's going on, Like and I'm just in my
- 45:14Speaker 2: dorm room making beats recorded and designing my own MySpace pages,
- 45:18Speaker 2: like you know, sticking up flyers and stickers all around campus.
- 45:21Speaker 2: You feel me, I'm a nuisance. I'm like And I
- 45:24Speaker 2: met my management there and they were like minded, and
- 45:27Speaker 2: we grew and built all this together and like and
- 45:30Speaker 2: the nucleus of the three of us really pushed that,
- 45:33Speaker 2: like Steve jobs, like you know, attention to detail, packaging,
- 45:37Speaker 2: appreciation of Apple, you know what I'm saying, Like studying
- 45:41Speaker 2: shit like that, like you know, and from the album
- 45:44Speaker 2: art to the fan experience to the merch, the presentation,
- 45:49Speaker 2: all of that. You think about when you get that
- 45:51Speaker 2: new laptop and you open that Apple box and you
- 45:53Speaker 2: see that designed by Apple in California, that minimalism, that cleanness.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Well, I remember you guys were like set out hats
- 45:59Speaker 1: and they'd be like packaged and like the way you
- 46:01Speaker 1: guys would package and send merch to fans. I remember,
- 46:04Speaker 1: it would be so like it wasn't like I were
- 46:06Speaker 1: just throwing it in a box.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I mean that means you can. When we were first,
- 46:12Speaker 2: I was designing our first merch and I was living
- 46:14Speaker 2: in an apartment with my girlfriend in New Orleans as
- 46:17Speaker 2: I was like finishing college, and like I remember, we
- 46:20Speaker 2: had like racks in the apartment of all our like
- 46:22Speaker 2: stock emmers and stuff. And she would be boxing it
- 46:24Speaker 2: up with the tissue paper, and I would like they
- 46:26Speaker 2: like no, They're like folk like do it like this,
- 46:28Speaker 2: you know, like blah blah blah, and like we just
- 46:31Speaker 2: all cared about the presentation and equality, you know, and
- 46:35Speaker 2: that shit goes a long way clearly. But it's like
- 46:38Speaker 2: I appreciate hearing that, you know, because that's how much
- 46:43Speaker 2: we put into the experience.
- 46:45Speaker 1: You know, what did you learn because you were opening up?
- 46:49Speaker 1: Was it was it the drake to where you were
- 46:50Speaker 1: opening up on it?
- 46:51Speaker 2: Was it Little Wayne or was it little Yeah? We
- 46:53Speaker 2: opened It's crazy because I keep looking up at at
- 46:57Speaker 2: like that city right there. But basically, like so imagine
- 47:01Speaker 2: storytime real quick. Imagine moving to New Orleans in two
- 47:05Speaker 2: thousand and seven, you know, mix tape weezy, like going
- 47:10Speaker 2: into Carter three. Wayne is the biggest thing in the universe.
- 47:13Speaker 2: But imagine living in New Orleans. It's even crazy, bro
- 47:16Speaker 2: Like you couldn't walk a block without hearing you family,
- 47:20Speaker 2: like and that's peak Wayne. Living in you know, in
- 47:25Speaker 2: that place at that time was crazy. I think it
- 47:28Speaker 2: was my sophomore year, Jamill. He interned for for Voodoo Festival,
- 47:36Speaker 2: which is like our big festival in New Orleans and
- 47:40Speaker 2: he randomly gets a sign to help Lil Wayne. It's
- 47:44Speaker 2: camp like who was headlining that year and Carter three
- 47:48Speaker 2: was about to drop. And he meets his tour manager.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Yeah we'll get to that, and Tina Feriris and she's
- 47:57Speaker 2: Wayne's tour manager and makes such an IMPRESSI not her.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Two months passed by. You know, we're chilling at our
- 48:04Speaker 2: apartment where roommates. He gets a call and she's basically like,
- 48:08Speaker 2: you know, I really liked you. You made a really
- 48:10Speaker 2: good impression on me. YadA, YadA. I have this position open,
- 48:13Speaker 2: you know, assistant tour manager. Would you like to come
- 48:15Speaker 2: on the road for Carter three's arena. You feel me
- 48:19Speaker 2: like overnight, my best friend and you know manager. But
- 48:23Speaker 2: it wasn't much to manage, right man, I'm just uploading
- 48:25Speaker 2: songs of my space. You finnd me like we're just
- 48:27Speaker 2: young college kids. You feld me like the forties all
- 48:29Speaker 2: over the apartment, like you know, and and you know,
- 48:34Speaker 2: overnight it becomes the coolest and richest of our friends.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Because he's getting paid something like a thousand a week
- 48:40Speaker 2: or something like that. We're splitting rent at seven hundred dollars,
- 48:43Speaker 2: paying three fifty each, you feel me like, and he
- 48:46Speaker 2: goes on the road and he's working that close around
- 48:50Speaker 2: that camp, like soaking it all up, taking it all in,
- 48:53Speaker 2: studying the game, calling me like anytime he gets a second, like, yo,
- 48:57Speaker 2: jee is crazy. You know, I was just smoking Wayne,
- 49:00Speaker 2: this is tight, like yeah. And I remember one day,
- 49:04Speaker 2: you know, because he stayed with the camp, he would
- 49:06Speaker 2: do every tour and you know, I'm kind of living
- 49:10Speaker 2: vicariously because I'm still you know, in New Orleans going
- 49:14Speaker 2: to school classes. It just got boring her and boring
- 49:16Speaker 2: her because I was just so desperately, like badly wanted
- 49:20Speaker 2: to be in that. And he would sneak us on
- 49:22Speaker 2: shows when he could, like no pay, but he'd be like,
- 49:25Speaker 2: if you could drive to Indianapolis this weekend from New Orleans,
- 49:28Speaker 2: something I'll get you on after the doors open, Wayne
- 49:31Speaker 2: won't even know you feel me type shit, And we
- 49:36Speaker 2: get to be around it, we get to see the show,
- 49:37Speaker 2: we get to study and soak up the game. But
- 49:40Speaker 2: there was one day where he was like, yo ge yo,
- 49:43Speaker 2: I've been chowing on the own money bush smoking with
- 49:45Speaker 2: this car. You should check out his music, y'all Down there,
- 49:48Speaker 2: y'all y'all kind of reminding each other in the white
- 49:51Speaker 2: but like you should listen to his music. It's MySpace
- 49:54Speaker 2: dot com, slash Strike and like you me earliest earliest,
- 49:58Speaker 2: earliest time and uh and then he has a bond
- 50:03Speaker 2: with Drake, you feel me. And when Drake starts to
- 50:06Speaker 2: pop off, who does Drake wants to be his tour manager?
- 50:09Speaker 2: M h feel me? Yeah? Yeah yeah, and they and
- 50:13Speaker 2: they built you know, that bond together and you know,
- 50:16Speaker 2: we're together Drake's whole career and just being around you know,
- 50:21Speaker 2: through a third party kind of like step of separation
- 50:24Speaker 2: of but having a lens that like I got to learn,
- 50:29Speaker 2: I got to be around it. I got to you know.
- 50:31Speaker 2: He would sneak me on some Drake shows. I don't
- 50:33Speaker 2: even think Drake knew I was on the shows. But
- 50:36Speaker 2: then that led to meeting Taz, who came to see
- 50:40Speaker 2: me at my first headline show in LA We had
- 50:42Speaker 2: sold out to Roxy and the line is past the whiskey,
- 50:47Speaker 2: You felt me, had kids like wearing all black waiting
- 50:50Speaker 2: in line. You feel me, and Taz came. He said, oh,
- 50:54Speaker 2: something's going on here. You have my attention now, It's
- 50:57Speaker 2: not just little Jamil keeps banging on me talking about
- 51:01Speaker 2: listen to my artist, listen to my artist. He's like yeah, yeah, whatever,
- 51:04Speaker 2: Like okay, you have my attention. Now something something's moving
- 51:07Speaker 2: comes to the show. And that was a pivot, turning point,
- 51:11Speaker 2: and that led to what Jamil had been campaigning and
- 51:15Speaker 2: trying for forever was getting Test and Blueprint Group g
- 51:19Speaker 2: Roberson g Nelson our branch to come on board and
- 51:23Speaker 2: help co manage right, you know, and that that changed everything.
- 51:27Speaker 2: That brought us, you know, the RCA, and then they
- 51:30Speaker 2: got me on opening for l Wayne all summer. But
- 51:35Speaker 2: I was like second of six acts. It's just like
- 51:39Speaker 2: people are walking in, walking in finding it. They're like
- 51:41Speaker 2: where's seats, you know that type shit, like this white
- 51:44Speaker 2: guy right right right, and I'm like make some noise,
- 51:46Speaker 2: like where's my seat? But like getting like I was
- 51:50Speaker 2: getting like eight hundred dollars a show or some thousand shows.
- 51:53Speaker 2: It was enough to pay for the bus barely and
- 51:57Speaker 2: just be there because like sometimes you'll take a loss
- 52:00Speaker 2: just to just to learn some ship, learn go put
- 52:03Speaker 2: yourself in a position of soak up the game, like
- 52:05Speaker 2: make some connect like feel me, get some exposure, but
- 52:09Speaker 2: really just soak it up and I remember, uh, man,
- 52:14Speaker 2: what's his name, Adrian Browner, the boxing Yeah, he was
- 52:18Speaker 2: on the tour. He was wrapping that summer and and
- 52:23Speaker 2: and they had him going first and then it was
- 52:25Speaker 2: me and then Susie Man. Yeah, it was amazing. But anyway,
- 52:36Speaker 2: so it's like first to second show of the tour
- 52:38Speaker 2: because it was him, me Audio Push Hit Boy. I
- 52:41Speaker 2: remember that I went that was the package, that was
- 52:46Speaker 2: that summer that was that was the H E seven era. Yeah, yeah,
- 52:49Speaker 2: and you know, and I'm like I'm sticking out like
- 52:53Speaker 2: a random right who Okay, didn't hip what do you someone?
- 53:00Speaker 2: Your album? Yeah? Yeah, we've done a ton of ship.
- 53:01Speaker 2: But so like you know, I'm I'm aware, like I'm
- 53:06Speaker 2: I'm the white Wood. You know, I'm not finna change
- 53:07Speaker 2: my look for anything. I'm not you know, I'm gonna
- 53:10Speaker 2: wear my varsity slick my hair due you for me.
- 53:13Speaker 2: I'm geezy, I'm I'm gonna be me. And it's brown.
- 53:20Speaker 2: I called up to management after the first White Boy.
- 53:23Speaker 2: I don't want to play after I want to play
- 53:25Speaker 2: before him like album, and then I don't I said
- 53:30Speaker 2: this not but basically there was an agreement of like
- 53:32Speaker 2: you know, uh ideal, you know, and like I took that,
- 53:40Speaker 2: Like I was like, you go second, fine, you know,
- 53:42Speaker 2: for and.
- 53:43Speaker 1: So he was paying to go ahead of like yeah,
- 53:45Speaker 1: yeah yeah.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Just like some like I'm like, all right, I counted
- 53:48Speaker 2: up how many shows we have left added by that number.
- 53:50Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, I know what I can do with that.
- 53:52Speaker 2: It's fine. It's not hurt. It's all good. I mean,
- 53:55Speaker 2: And that's that's no no distant, you know. I mean,
- 53:58Speaker 2: but I just took this. Yeah, that's great to go
- 54:00Speaker 2: for sure, great deal for me, Like and that whole summer, man,
- 54:05Speaker 2: like I would I would get on my stage and yeah,
- 54:09Speaker 2: it hurts you pride a little bit, like getting on
- 54:10Speaker 2: trying to be like make some noise. It's easy to
- 54:13Speaker 2: get up in front of a crowd. It's like eating
- 54:15Speaker 2: out the palm of your hand. It's hard to earn.
- 54:17Speaker 2: People earn people work for them, but you don't fancy
- 54:20Speaker 2: anybody here to see you, Like, and I would go
- 54:24Speaker 2: back to the bus. We had a little makeshift studio
- 54:27Speaker 2: set up. I'd work on making what would be these
- 54:29Speaker 2: things happen all summer, and then I would come back
- 54:32Speaker 2: from the bus to watch either Chains or Ti or Wayne.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Every single night I would watch one of their sets.
- 54:39Speaker 2: I would just go sit in the crowd when nobody
- 54:40Speaker 2: recognized me, and I would just take notes, study how
- 54:45Speaker 2: they do their talk breaks, the pacing, the timing, the
- 54:50Speaker 2: you know where you place your hits right, what do
- 54:53Speaker 2: you start with? What do you close with? Right? You know,
- 54:56Speaker 2: when do you do your new shit? You know? I
- 55:00Speaker 2: studied all that, and then I go right back to
- 55:02Speaker 2: the bus, like, fuck party and we haven't earned the
- 55:04Speaker 2: rights party right, like, and we made these things happen
- 55:07Speaker 2: that summer and I was still unsigned.
- 55:11Speaker 1: So you weren't with RCA yet. So when you will
- 55:13Speaker 1: go to RCA, you have that album finished finished.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Yeah, And the crazy thing is r c A is
- 55:18Speaker 2: one of the two labels that had flown me out
- 55:20Speaker 2: when I was nineteen in college. You're doing like fucking
- 55:25Speaker 2: Warped tour or some ship that was. Yeah, that was
- 55:27Speaker 2: all in the indie phase between. But when I was nineteen,
- 55:30Speaker 2: I had a song on MySpace. It was kind of
- 55:32Speaker 2: like getting some legs, Yeah, to get to get mini legs,
- 55:37Speaker 2: enough to get you flown out, enough to get me
- 55:39Speaker 2: flown out, but enough to get me passed on right,
- 55:42Speaker 2: you know, and you sit under those fluorescent lights with
- 55:44Speaker 2: all the suits in a boardroom, you know, and they're like, so,
- 55:48Speaker 2: what's your story? Boy? That froze up. But it's it's
- 55:53Speaker 2: a blessing because I didn't know who I was yet.
- 55:55Speaker 2: I didn't have the I didn't I hadn't found my style,
- 55:57Speaker 2: my voice, SMI yeah, I the pocket. And but that
- 56:02Speaker 2: chip on my shoulder of them passing on me, I
- 56:05Speaker 2: was like, damn. And that flight back to New Orleans,
- 56:09Speaker 2: I'm telling all them, I'm about to get signed. I'm
- 56:12Speaker 2: going out to New York. I've never been in New York.
- 56:14Speaker 2: I've never been in a hotel room. I'm like taking
- 56:16Speaker 2: pictures of the hotel in Manhattan, like this is crazy.
- 56:20Speaker 2: And that kind of rejection to make you dig deep,
- 56:23Speaker 2: and you know, they don't tell you that they're not
- 56:27Speaker 2: doing the deal. They're just like, it was so inspiring
- 56:30Speaker 2: me and we're really excited. We're going to be in
- 56:32Speaker 2: touch and never you know. So you're going back to school.
- 56:35Speaker 2: You're back in class on Monday. You're like, I don't
- 56:38Speaker 2: know what happened. It was. I'm like school, Damn, I
- 56:40Speaker 2: must suck. Yeah, you feel me. I must not got it.
- 56:43Speaker 2: You know or fucking fuck you. Yeah, I do, and
- 56:48Speaker 2: just work my ass off. So when they came back around,
- 56:52Speaker 2: I had these things happen done. I had just toured
- 56:54Speaker 2: with Luwayne, I had done wark toward I had done
- 56:56Speaker 2: the hard work I didn't necessarily want to do. But
- 56:59Speaker 2: anything I.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Remember you were doing like I think you had did
- 57:02Speaker 1: like Club Red and Azy.
- 57:04Speaker 2: This was for ye. That was the Rocky tour.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you were selling out like motherfucker the whole
- 57:08Speaker 1: toys hold up one hundred percent.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Yeah, like and so then when they came in and
- 57:15Speaker 2: I flew back, then I'm like, you remember me, right,
- 57:18Speaker 2: because I told you i'd be here right. So this
- 57:21Speaker 2: time around, I want what I want right, So get
- 57:24Speaker 2: me right, otherwise I'll go next door. No for sure,
- 57:28Speaker 2: Like you had the proof of concept, yeah, because it's
- 57:31Speaker 2: I don't need nothing from you.
- 57:33Speaker 1: It's crazy to think like how amazing that album was
- 57:37Speaker 1: and it was like it still was kind of like
- 57:41Speaker 1: you had it, like you had like obviously gotten plaques
- 57:43Speaker 1: off that album.
- 57:44Speaker 2: I mean it was, it's one of my favorite. I
- 57:46Speaker 2: mean it platinum or double platinum, Tumble Girls platinum or
- 57:48Speaker 2: double platinum. Talk about an era on I mean, bro, like,
- 57:53Speaker 2: but it's crazy to think like that album.
- 57:55Speaker 1: I remember I was doing radio and Tampa at the time,
- 57:57Speaker 1: and I was like screaming at the program director about
- 58:00Speaker 1: trying to get I mean it into rotation. I was
- 58:01Speaker 1: playing it on my underground hip hop show, so hating me,
- 58:04Speaker 1: and they still didn't believe.
- 58:05Speaker 2: They hating me, didn't I mean? And that for our city.
- 58:09Speaker 2: We didn't have a fit. RC didn't do you no
- 58:11Speaker 2: favors on the first album, by the way, no, nothing
- 58:13Speaker 2: like we we I paid out of my pocket, like
- 58:15Speaker 2: to all those videos we had shot before the deal.
- 58:18Speaker 2: But it's such a great fucking album.
- 58:20Speaker 1: And like, like you said, like fuck.
- 58:21Speaker 2: But you know what it is. You know what it
- 58:23Speaker 2: is because you you you gamble a little better when
- 58:26Speaker 2: it's your money you're gambling with, right, you know. I mean,
- 58:28Speaker 2: if I'm gambling with the corporations money, okay, But if
- 58:31Speaker 2: I did warped door to make this money, I was
- 58:34Speaker 2: sweating all summer on a fucking tour that I would
- 58:37Speaker 2: ever been on. I don't want, you know, I mean,
- 58:39Speaker 2: but I worked hard to get this. To save this up.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I lived out of a suitcase with no apartment for
- 58:44Speaker 2: me for a year.
- 58:45Speaker 1: And then fast forward, it's when it's dark out.
- 58:47Speaker 2: So when I'm spending twenty five bands to shoot the
- 58:49Speaker 2: Far Alone video or twenty five bands to shoot the
- 58:51Speaker 2: almost famous video Platinum by the way, Far Alone Platinum,
- 58:55Speaker 2: you feel me like. And then when we did the
- 58:57Speaker 2: little radio campaign, we spent like twenty five fifty bands
- 59:00Speaker 2: for Far Along. That's my pocket. So it's like you
- 59:04Speaker 2: when it's your money at stake, You're like, yeah, I'm
- 59:07Speaker 2: gonna be I'm gonna spend this wisely, right, you know,
- 59:10Speaker 2: because I got skin in the game. And so that's
- 59:12Speaker 2: why when we came to r C, it's like, if we.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Did this, do you remember when you guys, because it
- 59:20Speaker 1: felt like the everyone jumped on board once me myself
- 59:24Speaker 1: and I just just just yeah, because it was like
- 59:28Speaker 1: it was like, fuck, but did you did you guys
- 59:30Speaker 1: have any idea like, Okay, this is gonna be the
- 59:33Speaker 1: record that changes everything, and you already had a lot
- 59:36Speaker 1: of success and you were already torn. I think by then,
- 59:39Speaker 1: I think I think I think that was the g
- 59:43Speaker 1: The g I Am Suit Tour was before that was
- 59:46Speaker 1: after the first album, because I think that's when I
- 59:48Speaker 1: saw you in Tampa because I remember I took im
- 59:50Speaker 1: su to McDonald's, but man, legend.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Legend, but we knew each other like growing up man.
- 59:57Speaker 1: But it was almost like you were like still kind
- 59:59Speaker 1: of like under ground popping to like the like if.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: You knew you knew, but still I'm still, Like it's
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: crazy how I don't ever like walk around like I'm
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: a household name or something like I like being slightly
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: missus kind of like if you know, you know, but
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: but me myself and I.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: You guys knew like okay, this song, oh yeah, that
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: changed everything, but you knew it before it dropped.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I knew I knew it. The second so like first album,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: they protected these things happen to do like five thousand
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: first week it did fifty. It's platinum now like crazy
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: like in the US, like it's platinum in many countries,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: but in the US over a million sols, no real
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: radio hits at all. Correct. Second album is like the
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: hardest thing in hip hop. To do it once is
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: the hardest, but then they do it again, and then
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: the third time is hell hell even it never gets
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: easy basically, but the second one is like that's where
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: you solidify yourself. And we were so locked in making
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: that second one that would change everything when it's dark out,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: like that's.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: My best album, Like that's my favorite album.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: And I remember like pushing everything in my life to
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: the side, you know, friendships, relationships, just locking all the
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: way in taking all the all the right sessions that
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: you know. And i'd met bb rexa, you know, she
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: our teams got in touch or whatever. We hadn't met.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: We uh, we do the session with my friend Mike
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: I've worked with years prior. And she said she had
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: like two demos to show me that she was really
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: excited about, but one she really liked. And she plays
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: me the first one and I'm like, I'm you know
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: what I mean. I never wanted to, like, you know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: because you don't want to put some somebody down, Like
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: it's just maybe not for me, you know, because she's
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: fucking like her voice, her writing, she is brilliant. She's
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: just that special. And the second idea she showed me
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: was what will become me myself and I and it
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: was just like her and piano and I remember hearing
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: it and the whole world stopped that I don't need
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: to hear anything else. And that part is the chorus like,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I don't know if that's even initially how it was,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: but I just I was like, okay, yeah, we're done here,
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: don't play anything else. That's the one. And you know
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: we sat there that day, you know, I was like,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: let's do halftime drums. So it has that like pocket
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: feel me, let's like redo the chorus add in some
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: sense when it gets to the chorus and then that
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: that's the post where it goes all to it. And
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: you know, she has that iconic voice, she's an iconic
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: writer and you know, shouts out to bb I mean,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: she changed my life forever because let's be honest, that chorus,
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: you know, with that production, that's the heavy lifting. The
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: rapper's job on a song like that is filling the
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: blanks and don't suck it up literally, don't get in
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: the way of the records. Like that's you know. So
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: I'm just being like literally honest about that. You know, Bbe,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: you know she did that, and uh I knew and
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: out of the whole album. You know, like a lot
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: of rappers like we'll go in and we'll do five
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: songs in the night, sometimes even more, you know, but
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: you can get lost in that because it's like okay,
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: or you could do one or two and finishing apply
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: yourself to you, Yeah, okay, it's good, Yo, we got one.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: We just lock in on this, you know, whether it's
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: tightening up the verses, whether it's the production needs something,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: whether it's like add this and that, and sometimes it
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: doesn't need anything. Sometimes you just go in. You could
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: punch in freestyle and shit just comes out. But sometimes
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: with a record like me and myself and I, it's
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: worth the work staying there. If this song takes eighteen mixes,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I don't care if it takes twenty eight mixes. We're
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: gonna get this one right, because this one is gonna
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: do more than any other eighteen songs on the project, right,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: feel me. So it's like, pay your attention, do your work,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: have your patience and focus for this one because this
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: one's gonna count. This one's getting like maybe change your
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: family's lives for sure. Those three minutes and thirty seconds
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: are different than the other three minutes and thirty seconds
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: on all the other ones in a way.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, it's crazy because it's like that. To me,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: it was like everything changed after that. And then it
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: is interesting because I remember there was a do you
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: remember because I was fighting for you on Twitter Instagram,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: so we talked.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: About you you've banged on me like you've you've banged
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: for me so many times.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Broad there was a fucking there was like an MTV's
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Hottest Artist list or some shit to drop hottest rapper lists,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: and I was like, wait a minute, so you mean
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: to tell me the guy who's currently headlining a fucking
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: amphitheater tour and as the number one song in the country,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: You guys don't even.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Talk about it my whole fucking show. Yeah.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was crazy at the time.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know what, as much as it's like
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of outlets that have you know,
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: it's like it's like it's like a taboo to like
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: to fuck with me or like or maybe it's just
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: they never met me, am. Yeah.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I think I think a lot of people might be like, well,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: you mean the guy who like performed with Britney Spears
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: on the fucking audience, Like like.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like you fucking wouldn't like any feel like I
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: remember being a little kid watching her kiss Madonnavan, Like
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: you kissed her right? Like you Ki.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: By the way, I don't want to say any names,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: but I would just like to point out that young
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Gerald here has kissed all of your favorite famous rappers
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: before their boyfriends did. Respectfully, I would like you have
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: one of the most legendary hit lists in all of
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: hip hop. That is not public. That's not public, not
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I'm not somebody anything public. I'm talking about the other ship.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: You're a legend, sir, You're a coxman. So anyway, they
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: gotta put your jersey in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Hall of Game, the Hall of Game. H Where do
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: we go from there? So anyway, how about them? How
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: about about how about right? Christ? Better luck next year?
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: Next year?
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Do you just have like seasons like you're always court side?
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, man, I love going to games. That's
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: that's that's the best. Man just shouts out to forty
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: in general man like like he he could never get
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: enough flowers because you know, it's like one of them things.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Tell me somebody else as prolific. Now think about the
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: word prolific. That's like, you know, he who has more albums,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: you know, a bigger body of work. You know, it's
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: still still working his ass off.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Like reinventing himself having.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Slapped and then he's multiple different ventures.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Just motherfucker got goddamn he got.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: He got a whole icem alcohol, he got in gooon
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: with the spoon, like with the spoon, he's got the
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Filipino ship. I don't know how he's he's got the loopia.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: He just has a never ending hunger. And and that's what,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: you know, like to have to have a OG like that,
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: you know, to have somebody like that, not only as
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: a you know, as a mentor, as an un as
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: a hero, as an inspiration, as a goat, as a
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: big bro like you know, as as a genuine real
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: friend like you know, that's like it's not too many
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: forties on this planet, for sure, not too many that
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: have ever walked this earth. And he's still doing it,
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: like still putting our music, still relevant, still tapped in,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: still sharp, you know, and it's like I get it
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: because you know he's he's so distinctly you niekly himself.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: He won't try to just blend in just for the
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: sake of because the worst thing is when a when
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: a o G tries to do some ship for the
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: kids and try it feels like he's reaching or something right,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: It's like forty is like you either going like you
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: feel me, You're gonna meet me here or yeah, Like
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: it's like he's going to do his thing, you know,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: his style, his way, and if it's not for everybody,
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: it's not for everybody, but like, man, he's a legend.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: How how much are.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: You uh hip to?
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Like you know, obviously there's a lot of dope young
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: energy out of the bay The Russell's going crazy crazy
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: are you still like because you're a fucking hip hop
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: at a heart? Like, are you still like pretty like
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: trying to keep your ear to like the ship happening always?
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Man, the Russell was on told me on this last run.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: The last like the last last run because there's like
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the run currently, but then there was like the first half.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Of the we just finished, but broke it into like
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: six six like two separate, separate legs, but the first
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: like he was on, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, And
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: that's just like I said, like I've always you know,
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: brought you feel me some like Bay Area rappers and
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: artists like with me on every tour I've done, but
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: like I'm careful about who I picked, you know, to
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: bring on tour. Because it's like who do you want
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: to spend some time around with? Who do you want
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: to hang out with? Whose music do you want to
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: like listen to listen to every day and watch reform,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: you know, and see backstage and kick it and like
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: hang out with. So L Russell is like one of
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: those like every so often somebody comes along. It's like, oh,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: you're like that, You're one of those special man. You're
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: gonna be here a very long time. Ye, Like it's
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: it's entirely in you. It's like it came from that's
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: like something like.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: What you said about forty that like you got to
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: meet me here.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: That's L. Russell. It's like, yeah, you don't got to
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: fuck with me. Yeah, but if you're going to fuck
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: you gotta come over here. You gotta come. Yeah. And
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: it's crazy because he was telling me like he was like, gee,
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: like you know, I don't like to perform like after
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: like two pm you found.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Me, Yeah, he performs in the afternoon.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Like yeah, He's like, but but but like you feel me,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: you're gonna come see me here? Ye, Like I'm gonna
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: do it my way and stand on it. And that's
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: like that's that's very Bay Area where there's long lineage
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: and history of the independent hustle, you know, short and
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: forty and us just being uniquely, you know, just a
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: very special, unique place of culture and and all that,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: like we're not finna try to be like nobody else's
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: it's us. But but he embodies that and and does
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: it his way and and like you know, the backyard
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: shows like his tiny I've been his house told me
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: on the tour. He was like, you know, I did
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: the ship for you, like you got me out here
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: after dark Man it's out like it's dark out. I
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: don't do yeah, Like I'm like, well, if I don't
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: see anything shows that Batman doesn't pop out till it's
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: dark out, I can't. The best single doesn't show up
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: in the daytime. I'm I'm an only at night kind
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: of person. You got me out in the daytime. I'm
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: coming tomber you hear. But the Russell was like, you know,
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: he was like I did it because I fuck with you,
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Like I'm I'm doing this because I want to hang
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: out with you, and I fuck with you and the
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: combos we got to have and like picking each other's
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: brains and like he's sharp as attack and can wrap
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: his ass off. It's just so innate, so natural. So
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: he's so blessed and talented, you know, simbolars play.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Man alien as off. Sim is a great mind too,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: man that Motherfuckers podcast and he hang out.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: With Gilbert loved. I loved what he said here, which.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: About Aiden ross Oh yeah, Aiden Rosses.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: I don't know, but just like you know, just just
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: in general, like why the fuck are you talking about that?
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: It's it's just you know, I don't know that man.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: But but when I saw that clip, it's like Brad
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: like a like are you drunk or what? Or like
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: but who, like why are you? I don't. I just
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: don't believe in Like, I don't have no beef with nobody.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: The only time I is if somebody like is that
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: being that that that that negative? Because otherwise I'm just
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: you know, it's just it's just what sparks you to
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: even talk about somebody else. Yeah.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: To me, it's like we've had this weird three or
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: four years where like there's been like a and obviously
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: you and I have both the white guys and hip hops
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: were guessing the culture it is what it is, But
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: there's been.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Like this.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Weird mixture of worlds where it's like, all of a sudden,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: there's the there's these characters who have followings online, who
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: are who whatever they say because of how many people
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: follow them or how famous they are. There's coverage which
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: gives it some sort of merit to certain audiences, and
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: you're like, yo, like you know, like I said earlier,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I said, uh, you know, I saw and I'm cool
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: with the NELK Boys, but I saw Kyle from the
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: NELK was talking to Aiden Ross about Kendrick Lamar and
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: his album, and I was I commented under it, and
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: I said, this is like watching two blind people talk
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: about a painting because these motherfuckers have no idea what
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: they're talking about, Like what are we even doing here?
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: And like that's not to take you knows. It's an
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: interesting time in the world where you talk about coverage.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: You talk about you know, because mainstream media or radio
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: or television doesn't exist in the same way, and you
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: have these fringe guy platforms that are like have massive
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: followings and like they talk to the world, you know,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: But who gave you that like like credibility or or
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: like like.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I gotta you gotta give some blame to the people
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: who validate them. Yeah, and I gotta give blame to
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Drake and all those guys because because instead of Drake
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: going and sitting down with like a hip hop platform
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: or even someone like Academics, however you feel about academics,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Drake should have went and sat with Academics before you.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: When I'm eight Ross's stream. I mean that with all
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: due respect, but it just is what it is. So
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: there are people who do validate those guys because they
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: deem their following big enough to put whatever they feel
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: about whatever to the side to go sit down and
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: shoot the ship on the lane. So there are people
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: who have validated those folks, and you gotta kind of
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: look at them and be like, hey, why not go
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: sit with Kay Sanatt or fucking or DDG or you
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: know anybody who's like not a fucking goofball.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: Like anyway, I see all that to say, Yeah, So.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: The new album is out. It's called Helium. It's incredible.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Uh and uh are are you still?
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Is a tour over? That's a tour never tours, never
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: over tour for you for the rest of your life.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: I always gonna be able to Vegas Friday. I count
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: are you still doing zooke? Now I'm at the wind now,
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: Oh the win much much better much. But the resources
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: world's a fucking shit shown man.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Not no, I mean from a gambling perspective, because I'm
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: a fucking degenerate and every time.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: Luckily that's advice. Don't every time I go to fucking
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: resorts world, it sucks to me. I'm like, never been
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: to Zook by the way. Never People people without seven
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: vices always like it's crazy because it's like makes no sense.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Miss always win for sure. Like that is one vice.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: You don't have things. That's one advice I ain't got. Man,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: you got some vices, you know, I'm trying to collect
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: them all. It's not pokemon pokemon, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: So uh yeah, the wind shouts to the way. That's fine,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: that's a that's fun. Shout to the wind. It's smells
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: so good in there.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you walk into the wind. You want to give
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: them your money. Those fucking carpets in that set, I
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: want to lose money. They're in the aria. Now I'm like,
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: I'm like like the business model of a casino, Like
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: imagine like I'm gonna be the one that win. No, right, Yeah, listen, gee,
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: I appreciate you always win. That's why they call it
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: the win.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: You know what's crazy, I said, I don't the only
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: time I've ever done the only time I've ever destroyed
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: a hotel room. Yeah, you were doing Dre's. You got
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: a bunch of.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: Rooms where you're going, but that you were doing.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Dr Me and fucking mod Me and mod Son. Me
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: and mod Son are up in whatever suite you have. Yeah,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: and we've destroyed your room on purpose. I'm not sure
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: you were. I think you want to watched us, But
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: we fucking broke everything.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: In the room, like shattered the night. We like got cool, like, hey,
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: we could almost died. Like likes to break. Sure, he
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: likes to climbing in structure outside of our hotel. There
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: was like one hundred feet tall. There was like an
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: art piece of something, and I climbed up to the
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: very top of it and I felt it kind of wabble.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: And we're just up there like drunk, just like not
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: a good idea, like whoa hearted yourself?
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Yeah that's a bad look. Anyway, I appreciate you pulling up.
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Man. We shattered the hotel room. Shot at the hotel room.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: It is fun.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, fuck the hotels anyway, appreciate you coming through. Man.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: The albums is incredible if you have not heard it.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Helium it's out front.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: And back Helium out now it's our records and warehouse
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: music on. Do you know what's crazy? This empty building
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: next to the studio used to be.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: They turned it into a tower records just to shoot
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: a scene for the new Michael Jackson movie. So for
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: like a week next year to us, we had an
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: eighty style tower Records. Yeah, it was kind of crazy. Anyway,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Appreciate you Ge
