- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Election Day. It's Tuesday, May 5th. It's 68 degrees.
- 0:06Speaker 1: News radio, windy out there, incidentally. 68 degrees, overcast. We
- 0:10Speaker 1: had spit a little bit of rain this morning in
- 0:12Speaker 1: my neck of the woods. Then it dried up. And
- 0:14Speaker 1: so it looks like it will rain again later. It
- 0:20Speaker 1: will rain again later. But it's windy and definitely windy
- 0:23Speaker 1: out there. And a little bit chilly. Anyway, good afternoon.
- 0:25Speaker 1: 3.06 in the afternoon. Ron Furb with you until 7 tonight.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Here on News Radio 570 WKBN. Always honored that you
- 0:32Speaker 1: tuned in. This is Election Day. Sad part is that
- 0:37Speaker 1: they say it's the primary season and only about 25%
- 0:40Speaker 1: of registered voters will show up and pull a ballot.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And I went and voted today. They asked for my
- 0:48Speaker 1: driver's license. I said, that's racist, isn't it? But they
- 0:52Speaker 1: asked for my driver's license. Had to give an ID
- 0:55Speaker 1: to vote. How about that? And Then I went and voted.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I did my thing. Are you ready for this? Are
- 1:07Speaker 1: you sitting down? Are you ready? Are you ready for this?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Are you sure? When I got my ballot today, when
- 1:25Speaker 1: I got my ballot today, I voted for all the taxes. What?
- 1:31Speaker 1: What did he say? What? What did he say? I
- 1:35Speaker 1: said I voted for all the renewals in Austintown. Why
- 1:41Speaker 1: did I do that? Why did you do that? Yes,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'll tell you why I did it. It's because they
- 1:47Speaker 1: were all... Well, I voted for the county road tax,
- 1:50Speaker 1: Genetti's renewal there. That's a sales tax, just so you know.
- 1:54Speaker 1: That's a quarter percent sales tax. In my 41 years
- 1:58Speaker 1: of spending time with you, I've never seen more paving
- 2:01Speaker 1: done in this county. And the dedication from a county
- 2:06Speaker 1: engineer like I have from this particular county engineer. I mean,
- 2:10Speaker 1: Pat Giannetti, when he went to that quarter percent sales tax,
- 2:13Speaker 1: said that will not be used for raises. We're going
- 2:15Speaker 1: to use this to pave roads. Percentage of the money
- 2:19Speaker 1: we raise will go to your townships, Boardman, Austintown. So
- 2:23Speaker 1: it will surplus their paving budgets so you can get
- 2:25Speaker 1: more roads paved in your townships, Jackson Township, all the
- 2:29Speaker 1: townships that are out there. And then we're going to use, obviously,
- 2:35Speaker 1: the bulk of it to fix these county roads, many
- 2:38Speaker 1: of which haven't been touched for years and years and years.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And so you got a lot of paving that was
- 2:45Speaker 1: getting done, more than I've ever seen in my time
- 2:48Speaker 1: in the community. And obviously, it gets difficult when oil
- 2:52Speaker 1: is so expensive because, I don't know if you know this,
- 2:55Speaker 1: but asphalt is oil-based. And consequently, if those prices go up,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you can do only so many road miles. But if
- 3:04Speaker 1: they come down, it extends how many road miles you
- 3:07Speaker 1: can pave. But anyway, you're getting your money's worth out
- 3:09Speaker 1: of that quarter percent sales tax. You don't even notice it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And that's a renewal. And I supported that. And quite frankly,
- 3:15Speaker 1: Austintown Township has some renewals for the road department as well.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They are renewals for your roads in a township. So
- 3:26Speaker 1: there you have it. I mean, they're not an increase
- 3:28Speaker 1: in taxes, but roads are important. And so Genetti's, the
- 3:34Speaker 1: countywide tax I voted for, Again, continuing, it's quarter percent.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I don't even notice it. And the property taxes, those
- 3:42Speaker 1: two are fairly important in Auston Township when it comes
- 3:45Speaker 1: to the roads there. So I voted to continue with those.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I vote against the ones that don't make a lick
- 3:51Speaker 1: of sense, like the property tax for the library. I
- 3:54Speaker 1: never vote for that. I never vote for that. But
- 3:56Speaker 1: my roads, got to have roads. Got to drive on them.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Tired of chuck holes. Got to get them fixed. And
- 4:02Speaker 1: that costs money. And with these high oil prices, it
- 4:05Speaker 1: costs more than ever. So anyway, make sure you go
- 4:09Speaker 1: out and cast your ballot today. It's a primary. So
- 4:13Speaker 1: you can see in whatever areas that you're in. Sometimes
- 4:19Speaker 1: you vote for... Well, just go on out and vote.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Be an informed voter. That's all you can do. Do
- 4:27Speaker 1: your best. Be an informed voter. And what else do
- 4:33Speaker 1: I have for you? I want to talk about the
- 4:35Speaker 1: economy at some point today. Think about where we would
- 4:40Speaker 1: be if this war never happened, economically speaking. If this
- 4:44Speaker 1: war never happened and $ 5 gas wasn't the case, just
- 4:47Speaker 1: think of where... we would be economically speaking versus where
- 4:52Speaker 1: we are now. And I'm going to hopefully get into
- 4:56Speaker 1: later in the program. Economically speaking, I do not have
- 4:59Speaker 1: a rosy scenario for you. You're on air.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Hey, Ron, how are you doing today?
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm well.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Hey, real quick, like, you know, I've been listening to
- 5:07Speaker 3: you for probably over 30 years. I used to sit
- 5:11Speaker 3: there and listen to you with my mom, and she
- 5:13Speaker 3: died in 93. So it's been a long time since
- 5:15Speaker 3: I've been listening to you. And over that time, I've
- 5:18Speaker 3: heard people call in about one person.
- 5:20Speaker 4: They didn't like what they said, and this.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Person didn't like what they said.
- 5:23Speaker 3: And you've got that banter going back and forth, which
- 5:26Speaker 3: brings me to yesterday and your boy Ted DeCee. He
- 5:29Speaker 3: was so far off base for him to say that
- 5:33Speaker 3: he's got police involved. He broadcasted where the boss lady's
- 5:39Speaker 3: house is. I didn't know whether to laugh. I mean,
- 5:43Speaker 3: it was, you know, he needs to grow a pair. Seriously,
- 5:47Speaker 3: he's acting like a baby. JJ had it right yesterday
- 5:50Speaker 3: when he said, how old is he? My question is,
- 5:53Speaker 3: what grade is he in? I just cannot believe that
- 5:57Speaker 3: he got on. And then he told you, he said, Ron,
- 6:00Speaker 3: this starts with, this stops today and it starts with you.
- 6:04Speaker 3: What does that mean? Does that mean you're not going
- 6:07Speaker 3: to let her call?
- 6:08Speaker 1: No, that absolutely does not mean that at all. Here's
- 6:12Speaker 1: what it means. As I said to him when he called,
- 6:14Speaker 1: first of all, there's two different things. Just so you know,
- 6:19Speaker 1: there's what you hear on what they call terrestrial radio,
- 6:23Speaker 1: your regular radio, and what you hear on the iHeart app.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You follow me? Here's a little-known secret. Are you ready
- 6:29Speaker 1: for this? That if you're listening on the iHeart app...
- 6:34Speaker 1: When we dump out swear words and certain things? Are
- 6:39Speaker 1: you ready? That you wouldn't hear on the radio? You
- 6:42Speaker 1: can still hear them on the app. You follow me?
- 6:45Speaker 4: I hear it all the time.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Okay, because that's... Because the... The swearing and that kind
- 6:52Speaker 1: of stuff, we can't have it on terrestrial radio, but
- 6:55Speaker 1: it doesn't matter if it's on the app and that
- 6:58Speaker 1: kind of stuff. So it's kind of, I don't want
- 7:00Speaker 1: to say it's the same feed, but people hear different things.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But here's what I say to all of that. Uh,
- 7:07Speaker 1: and I do not, I want to hear what each
- 7:11Speaker 1: and every person's opinion is. Okay. And whether I agree
- 7:14Speaker 1: or disagree with it, that's what, that's at least what
- 7:18Speaker 1: this program is all about. What is your thoughts? What
- 7:21Speaker 1: are your views? I do not. And it's troubled me
- 7:25Speaker 1: long before that particular situation. I do not particularly care
- 7:29Speaker 1: for people attacking callers on a personal basis. And I
- 7:33Speaker 1: can think of no one, I'll be blunt with you,
- 7:35Speaker 1: I can think of two callers that get attacked and
- 7:40Speaker 1: I said to them, I'm not going to allow that
- 7:44Speaker 1: to have people. You can disagree with their opinions, but
- 7:47Speaker 1: when you start calling them callers, When you start attacking
- 7:51Speaker 1: them on a personal level, when people attack J.J. the
- 7:54Speaker 1: liberal or people attack Fort Lauderdale Frank, that's where I
- 7:58Speaker 1: draw the line. In other words, you can disagree with
- 8:01Speaker 1: what their comments are, what their views are, and that's
- 8:04Speaker 1: okay for you to disagree with that. But it's not
- 8:06Speaker 1: okay for you to attack them on a personal basis.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And I thought J.J. 's comments yesterday were interesting because
- 8:13Speaker 1: I can't think of any caller that's ever taken more
- 8:15Speaker 1: guff than J.J. the liberal. Can you, caller?
- 8:18Speaker 4: No, and you know what, Ron?
- 8:20Speaker 3: There are times where I've listened to... Your boy, Ted,
- 8:23Speaker 3: call in and complain about JJ. He complains about Frank
- 8:27Speaker 3: from Fort Lauderdale. Even yesterday, he complained about Richard, the pharmacist.
- 8:32Speaker 3: He didn't like what he had to say. But the
- 8:34Speaker 3: minute somebody calls in..
- 8:35Speaker 1: Well, now, wait a minute. I don't disagree if he
- 8:40Speaker 1: was disagreeing with Richard, the pharmacist, voting process. That was fair.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You can disagree with somebody's opinion. I don't have a
- 8:47Speaker 1: problem with that at all. That's all the boss lady's doing.
- 8:50Speaker 6: She's just disagreeing with this candidate.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Right, but here's where I made the mistake. When she
- 9:02Speaker 1: came on the air and basically said... does he squat
- 9:07Speaker 1: to pee? Well, that should have never, you know, she
- 9:09Speaker 1: should have never engaged in that either. I mean, that,
- 9:12Speaker 1: that was, that was wrong. And I won't tolerate that
- 9:16Speaker 1: from her. And, and it's just something that from my standpoint, listen,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I love Ted, the conservative. I love his calls. I
- 9:24Speaker 1: love his thought process and, and what he has to say.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And I enjoy the boss lady and what she has
- 9:31Speaker 1: to say. But by God, I'm not going to engage
- 9:34Speaker 1: in people personally attacking callers in that fashion. It is
- 9:40Speaker 1: not going to happen. And let me tell you, you know,
- 9:44Speaker 1: when she said that, you know, that's insulting. Deal with
- 9:48Speaker 1: his thoughts and his opinions. They are both Republicans. They
- 9:53Speaker 1: both view the commissioner race differently, obviously, who she supports
- 9:57Speaker 1: and who he supports. And it's, and it's, okay to
- 10:02Speaker 1: discuss your candidate and your thinking and your reasoning with
- 10:07Speaker 1: that as well. And we go from there. That was
- 10:13Speaker 1: my point. And quite frankly, I take it all personally.
- 10:19Speaker 1: in that sense, as constructive criticism, because I'm not going
- 10:23Speaker 1: to allow that to continue to happen.
- 10:26Speaker 3: And, you know, Ron, you said about her before, she's harmless.
- 10:31Speaker 7: She's absolutely harmless.
- 10:32Speaker 3: She's 5'1, 110 pounds, soaking wet.
- 10:35Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 10:36Speaker 3: And he's attacking her like she's some animal.
- 10:39Speaker 7: She doesn't fight with pigs.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Come on, Ted.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Grow up. Listen, I don't want him... But she started
- 10:46Speaker 1: it with some of her insults towards him, too. So
- 10:49Speaker 1: it takes two to tango, but I'm not going to
- 10:52Speaker 1: let it continue.
- 10:54Speaker 6: I know.
- 10:54Speaker 3: That's what JJ said yesterday. He said, listen, I don't
- 10:57Speaker 3: understand Ted, because he throws back stuff at her, too.
- 11:00Speaker 3: But the idea that he said... He's going to meet
- 11:02Speaker 3: the po-po.
- 11:04Speaker 1: In her driveway? I don't think that's going to mean anything.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I don't think so either.
- 11:09Speaker 1: He needs to grow up.
- 11:12Speaker 9: Right.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Grow up, Ted.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Well, everybody can have a bad day. Now, I can't
- 11:17Speaker 1: control what people do on social media. But I'll tell
- 11:23Speaker 1: you something. Social media, to a large extent, is highly
- 11:28Speaker 1: overrated media. It's highly overrated, and a lot of the
- 11:33Speaker 1: people that are on there are what they call these
- 11:36Speaker 1: keyboard warriors and that kind of stuff.
- 11:38Speaker 10: I mean, I.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Tip the cards here, and I don't know if I'm
- 11:43Speaker 1: breaking the rules or something like that I should be.
- 11:46Speaker 1: You know, like you'd get these people that would send,
- 11:50Speaker 1: how would I put it, emails here to the, radio
- 11:57Speaker 1: station or to me and that kind of stuff. Well,
- 12:00Speaker 1: that only gets you on the radar screen. In other words,
- 12:03Speaker 1: in other words, those emails don't get deleted. They go into,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I mean, ever since some of these, um, How do
- 12:12Speaker 1: you put it? I don't want to just say the
- 12:13Speaker 1: Charlie Kirk assassination, but before that, there's been problems in
- 12:19Speaker 1: the industry with people that email certain types of things.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And they all go in a separate file and they
- 12:26Speaker 1: all go for further review. It just gets you on
- 12:29Speaker 1: the radar screen. So I don't know if I'm breaking
- 12:35Speaker 1: the rules to tell people that or not, but I
- 12:38Speaker 1: like to be straightforward with people. If you don't have anything, Decent,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I guess, to email. My suggestion is it probably is
- 12:46Speaker 1: best not to email them because you get on the
- 12:51Speaker 1: radar screen. Let me just put it that way. They
- 12:53Speaker 1: don't go away. Let me put it that way.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Let me say this much.
- 12:57Speaker 4: I'm on Facebook.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I'm friends with her on Facebook. We're both part of
- 13:00Speaker 3: the same political group fighting property tax and all that.
- 13:04Speaker 3: And I challenge anybody to go on her page or
- 13:07Speaker 3: our political page and find out once, once, where she
- 13:12Speaker 3: criticized him. All she ever said was Ted DeCee. In fact,
- 13:17Speaker 3: she was out with her family, and a guy came
- 13:19Speaker 3: up to her and said, I heard you on the radio.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Would you like to know who Ted DeCee is? She
- 13:25Speaker 3: didn't do any investigating. She didn't really care, but he
- 13:28Speaker 3: told her anyway. Okay, but now he goes and looks
- 13:32Speaker 3: up where her street is.
- 13:33Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 13:35Speaker 3: You know, I just, you know, I'm just, listen, he's
- 13:39Speaker 3: an okay caller. I don't think he's anything next to
- 13:43Speaker 3: Alec or Frank or Rich, but he's got to. He'll
- 13:48Speaker 3: never be a county commissioner with that type of, you know,
- 13:51Speaker 3: if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, dude.
- 13:53Speaker 3: My God, if he was Geno, he would have been
- 13:55Speaker 3: crying already by now. The way we beat up Geno.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Listen, live and learn and move on from it. Let's
- 14:05Speaker 1: have a certain degree of decorum. I mean, it takes
- 14:11Speaker 1: two to tango. She should not have said some of
- 14:14Speaker 1: the things that she said towards him and said, And
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'm going to take that as constructive criticism from my standpoint.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And I'm just not going to allow it. I'm not
- 14:23Speaker 1: going to allow it. And the people who get it
- 14:26Speaker 1: the most, I'll set those two aside because really they
- 14:30Speaker 1: will correct their behavior. And I will say the part
- 14:36Speaker 1: that always disturbed me more than anything was when people
- 14:39Speaker 1: personally would attack J.J. the liberal. Because JJ's entitled, it
- 14:43Speaker 1: doesn't matter whether I agree or disagree with him, he's
- 14:45Speaker 1: entitled to his thoughts and his beliefs and his views
- 14:50Speaker 1: and to express those. And you have people like, oh,
- 14:54Speaker 1: they hate him because he doesn't agree with their views. Well,
- 14:58Speaker 1: it is America. People have different views based on their perspective,
- 15:02Speaker 1: their economic situation, and what's going on in their life.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And that's okay with me. Well, you know, Ron, this.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Goes back further than... before she said that about him.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Right. Well, I don't want to dwell on it. I
- 15:16Speaker 1: just don't want to go on.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Right.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I don't want to go on dwelling on it. I
- 15:20Speaker 1: want to move on from it. You know, I'm not
- 15:22Speaker 1: going to, I'm not going to bring it up with Ted.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'm not going to bring it up with her. I'm
- 15:26Speaker 1: not going to discuss it further. It's just going to be,
- 15:30Speaker 1: you got, you got something to add to the program
- 15:32Speaker 1: and say there are no personal attacks. Okay.
- 15:35Speaker 11: Good.
- 15:35Speaker 12: Thanks.
- 15:37Speaker 1: And.com slash rules.
- 15:41Speaker 13: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning on NewsRadio
- 15:49Speaker 1: 570 WKBN, and you're on the air.
- 15:51Speaker 14: Hello.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Can you come back to me?
- 15:55Speaker 1: I'm coming back to you.
- 15:57Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You're welcome. Hello? Oh, can I?
- 16:05Speaker 16: Can you just come back?
- 16:06Speaker 4: I'm sorry, can you come back?
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yes, I'll come back to you. You're on the air.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:11Speaker 17: I just choked on a piece of coconut.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Well, really, do you want me to get over to
- 16:19Speaker 1: your house and Heimlich you? No, no. I'll be there,
- 16:24Speaker 1: and I'll Heimlich you and save your life. As long
- 16:28Speaker 1: as I can do it during a commercial break. I've
- 16:30Speaker 1: got to get to your place and back in five
- 16:32Speaker 1: minutes or less.
- 16:32Speaker 17: I'm too far away anyway.
- 16:34Speaker 1: And you're a walking dead man.
- 16:36Speaker 15: Yeah, I am.
- 16:37Speaker 18: I mean, I..
- 16:39Speaker 17: I'm going in for heart surgery here pretty soon.
- 16:43Speaker 14: But anyway.
- 16:43Speaker 1: How old are you?
- 16:44Speaker 14: I'm almost 80.
- 16:47Speaker 1: 80 years old. All right.
- 16:49Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: What do they got to do? Bypass or just stents?
- 16:56Speaker 14: Well, they're not sure until they do exploratory, but probably
- 17:00Speaker 14: a new valve, a new flapper.
- 17:03Speaker 1: What's your symptoms?
- 17:04Speaker 5: Okay.
- 17:09Speaker 14: Too many to list.
- 17:11Speaker 1: There you go. Well, good luck to you at 80
- 17:14Speaker 1: years old.
- 17:15Speaker 14: Well, anyway, and I still work. But, you know, all
- 17:19Speaker 14: these people that are complaining about gas prices and everything
- 17:26Speaker 14: that's going on right now.
- 17:29Speaker 6: I was here.
- 17:30Speaker 17: I built a home during Jimmy Carter's years.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 11: And..
- 17:38Speaker 17: Gas prices.
- 17:39Speaker 11: Jumped overnight 50%.
- 17:42Speaker 14: That's if you could get it.
- 17:46Speaker 17: We used to have to wait in line, and you
- 17:49Speaker 17: could only get so much.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Right. Listen, I know interest rates were extremely high.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Oh, 18%.
- 17:55Speaker 1: But that doesn't make it acceptable.
- 17:58Speaker 14: We went over budget by $ 7, 000. And I went..
- 18:07Speaker 17: To get an extension on a loan, mortgage rate 18%.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:12Speaker 14: So I had to sell.
- 18:15Speaker 11: I had to sell because I couldn't afford it.
- 18:20Speaker 17: But, you know, a lot of the problems that.
- 18:25Speaker 11: We're dealing with now have all been caused by other administrations.
- 18:31Speaker 17: And the thing is that..
- 18:35Speaker 14: As far as the economy is.
- 18:37Speaker 11: Concerned, I blame the American people themselves. You know, when
- 18:44Speaker 11: my grandparents came to this country from Czechoslovakia, even up
- 18:51Speaker 11: until the old age.
- 18:52Speaker 14: Until they passed, if they went to buy something, if
- 18:57Speaker 14: it didn't say..
- 19:00Speaker 17: Made in USA on it. It was put back on
- 19:03Speaker 17: the shelf.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Stand by for a minute. Stand by, old-timer. I'll get
- 19:06Speaker 1: back to you in a minute. News Radio 570 WKBN
- 19:09Speaker 1: and Ron Furb, back in a minute. News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 19:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Let me go right back to you, old-timer. Listen, with
- 19:17Speaker 1: all due respect, I don't live in the past like
- 19:19Speaker 1: a lot of people do. I lived through those days
- 19:21Speaker 1: like you did. And I could sit here and say
- 19:25Speaker 1: people that are bellyaching about 6% interest rates on home loans,
- 19:29Speaker 1: I refinanced to get down to 6%. We thought 6%
- 19:33Speaker 1: was a pretty good rate because– You're correct. We were
- 19:36Speaker 1: having 13%, 12%, 11%, 10% interest rates that was taking place.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I mean, there are many variables on how much you
- 19:45Speaker 1: made and the inflation, how much a house actually cost.
- 19:50Speaker 1: versus what it costs today and the inflation. There's a
- 19:52Speaker 1: lot of variables there. So I don't know how comparable
- 19:55Speaker 1: any of that is, but we were happy to get
- 19:57Speaker 1: it down to a 6% rate. But that was then
- 20:01Speaker 1: and this is now. All I can say to you, though,
- 20:04Speaker 1: and I want to say, let me say this to you.
- 20:08Speaker 1: There is nothing good going on. Economically, I think the
- 20:11Speaker 1: economy is in a difficult situation right now. So I
- 20:14Speaker 1: don't care about Jimmy Carter. I lived it. I don't
- 20:17Speaker 1: compare it to today because a lot of things have
- 20:20Speaker 1: changed since then to today. It's difficult today for young
- 20:26Speaker 1: people to buy a home because of the inflated price
- 20:28Speaker 1: of them, because of the burden of property taxes on
- 20:32Speaker 1: top of the interest rate when you're financing that much
- 20:36Speaker 1: more money. And it's more difficult to put 20 percent down.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Five dollar gasoline. I don't give a damn how anybody
- 20:43Speaker 1: tries to justify it. I'm here to tell you I
- 20:46Speaker 1: would be complaining about it if Biden was president. And
- 20:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and not complain about
- 20:52Speaker 1: it because Trump is president. It is devastating the economy.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And I go back to say, if this war didn't happen,
- 20:59Speaker 1: where do you think the economy would be when we
- 21:01Speaker 1: were at about 250 a gallon and all the economic
- 21:04Speaker 1: indicators weren't a good place? I think the economy would
- 21:06Speaker 1: be a much better place and all of our finances
- 21:10Speaker 1: would be in a better place. I don't think the
- 21:12Speaker 1: economy right now is in a good place at all.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And I think a lot of people are struggling because
- 21:18Speaker 1: of that. Property taxes are too high. Electric rates have doubled.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Natural gas prices are too high. Now you throw gasoline
- 21:27Speaker 1: on top of that and the effect that it has
- 21:30Speaker 1: on everything else that comes from it. and the prices
- 21:33Speaker 1: that are going up. So I don't care about Jimmy Carter.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I deal with the here and now.
- 21:38Speaker 17: I realize that, and I don't either.
- 21:42Speaker 11: You lived through it, and you dealt with it. But
- 21:45Speaker 11: what I'm saying is all the problems we're having today
- 21:49Speaker 11: are because of other administrations all the way down. Iran,
- 21:56Speaker 11: something could have been done with them four presidents ago,
- 22:00Speaker 11: five presidents ago.
- 22:02Speaker 19: And nothing.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Now it comes down to.
- 22:05Speaker 17: Where it may be critical.
- 22:07Speaker 11: We don't know everything that the administration knows and Trump knows.
- 22:14Speaker 12: I mean, there's no way for us to know that.
- 22:17Speaker 14: But they had to be dealt with at some point.
- 22:21Speaker 19: And the thing is, as far as the economy is concerned,
- 22:26Speaker 19: it wouldn't be in a the problem that we have
- 22:30Speaker 19: with it if people wouldn't have bought Chinese products.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Well, that's easy to say, but a lot of stuff
- 22:37Speaker 1: is made in China, and it's not made in America
- 22:40Speaker 1: anymore these days.
- 22:41Speaker 17: If you never bought it to begin with, it wouldn't.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Be being sold.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Well, not necessarily. There's many arguments that are made for
- 22:50Speaker 1: foreign products that people say... Listen, I can go back
- 22:55Speaker 1: with you and remember when American cars were just pieces
- 22:58Speaker 1: of crap that would rust out. And the American car
- 23:01Speaker 1: industry changed because of Japanese cars. Because of how satisfied
- 23:06Speaker 1: people were with Toyota and Honda and how dependable they were.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It made the American auto industry much better. Because the
- 23:13Speaker 1: American auto industry acknowledged... that once you switch to those brands,
- 23:17Speaker 1: they could never get you to come back, so they
- 23:19Speaker 1: had to step up their game. So competition isn't necessarily
- 23:24Speaker 1: a bad thing. Some economists argue that if you buy
- 23:26Speaker 1: something that costs you less because of competition, you have
- 23:30Speaker 1: more money in your pocket to buy other stuff or
- 23:33Speaker 1: to have a better lifestyle.
- 23:34Speaker 14: Well, the only problem is it puts your neighbor out
- 23:37Speaker 14: of work.
- 23:38Speaker 1: That is true. So less people working, less.
- 23:40Speaker 14: People paying into the tax structure.
- 23:42Speaker 1: That is true. That is absolutely true. There's two sides
- 23:47Speaker 1: to every story, to say the least. But there's arguments
- 23:52Speaker 1: that can be made on both sides. Listen, I'm for
- 23:55Speaker 1: trade on an even playing field. I say a million times,
- 24:00Speaker 1: we cannot compete with slave wage nations at all. We
- 24:04Speaker 1: can't compete with India and China and Vietnam and this
- 24:08Speaker 1: kind of stuff.
- 24:09Speaker 7: But..
- 24:11Speaker 1: The other economist would argue to you, they would say, well,
- 24:16Speaker 1: if we didn't have that coming in, how much would
- 24:19Speaker 1: you be paying for a T-shirt or a pair of shorts?
- 24:22Speaker 1: It could be astronomically more. Or even as expensive as
- 24:25Speaker 1: your iPhone is, how much more would it cost if
- 24:29Speaker 1: we didn't have those options?
- 24:31Speaker 11: Probably not much more.
- 24:33Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I do think that people would think, minimum wage should
- 24:38Speaker 1: be $ 15 an hour, and it's pretty much there. The
- 24:40Speaker 1: marketplace has driven it up there. Well, does that not
- 24:43Speaker 1: also say the person that's running the facility has to
- 24:46Speaker 1: raise their price? So if I'm paying you more, I
- 24:51Speaker 1: got to raise prices to cover the cost of your wages.
- 24:55Speaker 1: And if inflation goes up, everybody's got to charge more.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I mean, it just... Inflation is a big problem. I
- 25:02Speaker 1: go back to say this economy was soaring.
- 25:06Speaker 14: People working in the workplace.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Well, there's going to be even less of them with AI.
- 25:12Speaker 12: Well, I'm not.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Right. You're 80 years older.
- 25:15Speaker 14: 100%.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You think about A1. All right, old-timer. Stay healthy. I
- 25:20Speaker 1: appreciate it. You're on the air.
- 25:22Speaker 9: Hey, Ron, you did a great job telling that caller,
- 25:28Speaker 9: don't blame the economy on China.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Not now. The current economy that's going on right now,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and the problems are solely as a result, in large
- 25:39Speaker 1: part due to the situation with the war in Iran,
- 25:43Speaker 1: I should say.
- 25:44Speaker 9: Well, you know when you send low-paying jobs to China,
- 25:49Speaker 9: you create higher-paying import jobs in America. So maybe his
- 25:54Speaker 9: neighbor was out of work, but his neighbor should... improve
- 25:58Speaker 9: his skills, and get a higher-paying job because he'll have
- 26:02Speaker 9: more opportunities.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Well, I don't want to get into all of this.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I said a million times the best social program is
- 26:09Speaker 1: a good job, but the reality is you can't fight technology.
- 26:15Speaker 1: AI is going to replace a lot of white-collar jobs,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and there's not much you're going to be able to
- 26:19Speaker 1: do about it other than figure out what to retrain
- 26:24Speaker 1: and what to go do. and adjust to it as
- 26:27Speaker 1: time goes on. You're going to have to make an adjustment.
- 26:31Speaker 9: Well, the Chinese economy is doing great. All my Chinese
- 26:35Speaker 9: stocks and Asian stocks are going way up. And China's
- 26:44Speaker 9: economy is going strong.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Well, I don't know that it's going strong. Some of
- 26:48Speaker 1: what I happen to see doesn't necessarily indicate that. China's
- 26:52Speaker 1: economy is directly related to the American economy, too. We
- 26:56Speaker 1: are their biggest consumer of goods. So they need a
- 27:00Speaker 1: decent economy in the United States of America. Listen, I
- 27:04Speaker 1: will say I don't believe the economy in general is
- 27:07Speaker 1: in the United States of America. I don't at the
- 27:10Speaker 1: present time think the economy is doing very well at all.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I think that we have serious economic problems as we
- 27:16Speaker 1: speak today. And I don't make excuses for it. I'd
- 27:20Speaker 1: be just as critical if Biden was doing this. Trump,
- 27:23Speaker 1: it doesn't matter to me whether they're Republicans or Democrats.
- 27:27Speaker 1: There are serious issues with inflation that are going on
- 27:30Speaker 1: in America and continue to get worse. and energy prices.
- 27:34Speaker 1: You tell me, Frank, if we continue to have people's
- 27:37Speaker 1: property taxes go up, if we continue to double the
- 27:41Speaker 1: charge for electricity, natural gas rates are still high, gasoline
- 27:47Speaker 1: now at $ 5 a gallon, and when you take a
- 27:50Speaker 1: look at diesel fuel and the inflation that comes from
- 27:53Speaker 1: passing those costs on, And the increases that go on,
- 27:57Speaker 1: is that an economy in the United States of America
- 28:00Speaker 1: that's in good shape right now? And I don't think
- 28:02Speaker 1: it is.
- 28:04Speaker 9: Well, you're correct. China is dependent on the American economy.
- 28:09Speaker 9: The American economy is dependent on China. But we're in
- 28:13Speaker 9: a global economy now. Everybody's dependent on everybody else. And
- 28:19Speaker 9: right now, this war in Iran... is doing damage to
- 28:24Speaker 9: the global economy.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Amen.
- 28:26Speaker 9: Except for Asia. Like I said before, when all the
- 28:33Speaker 9: Persian Gulf countries had their oil infrastructure destroyed, all that
- 28:40Speaker 9: cash they had didn't go to America anymore. It's now
- 28:45Speaker 9: first has started flowing towards Thailand, and now it's going
- 28:49Speaker 9: to Hong Kong. That's probably the main reason why all
- 28:53Speaker 9: my Chinese stocks and mutual funds are just soaring, while
- 28:57Speaker 9: the American stock market is pretty much staying the same. Now,
- 29:02Speaker 9: NASDAQ and the S & P are at all-time record
- 29:06Speaker 9: highs today. And here's the news. Dow up nearly 400
- 29:12Speaker 9: points as oil pulls back. Well, you know, Ron, oil
- 29:18Speaker 9: may be pulling back, but... There's also another report that
- 29:22Speaker 9: says Trump wants to get out of this war, but
- 29:27Speaker 9: he says we're going to have to keep this war
- 29:30Speaker 9: going longer. The longer this war goes on, the more
- 29:34Speaker 9: damage we're going to have to the American economy. And
- 29:38Speaker 9: you know, the thing is, the United States only gets 6%
- 29:43Speaker 9: of their oil from the Persian Gulf. I want to
- 29:46Speaker 9: tell that previous caller, it's not previous administrations and it's
- 29:52Speaker 9: not Iran putting sanctions on our oil. it's because the
- 29:58Speaker 9: Federal Reserve continues to print money out of thin air.
- 30:02Speaker 9: You know, prices are not going to go down until
- 30:05Speaker 9: the Federal Reserve contracts, does a contraction of the money supply.
- 30:11Speaker 9: That's what most people don't understand. You know, we're a
- 30:15Speaker 9: nation of economic functional alerts, and I can understand because
- 30:20Speaker 9: We don't teach people economics in high school or college.
- 30:25Speaker 9: I would start teaching people economics in second or third grade.
- 30:29Speaker 9: When me and you went to school, didn't we have
- 30:31Speaker 9: to open a bank account and get our parents to
- 30:34Speaker 9: give us a dollar to open an account and learn
- 30:36Speaker 9: how to, you know, use a passbook, checkbook, and a
- 30:40Speaker 9: savings account? I think that was very smart.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 30:44Speaker 6: They get that type of education.
- 30:48Speaker 10: Right.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I was just reading this prior to going on. I
- 30:55Speaker 1: pass this along to you. Let me find it here.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Frank could get this. Gary Schilling, the legendary forecaster known
- 31:05Speaker 1: for his bearish accuracy in being fired from Merrill Lynch
- 31:09Speaker 1: for predicting the 1969-1970 recession, is sounding the alarm on
- 31:11Speaker 1: a 2026 economic collapse. In a recent interview with Business Insider,
- 31:19Speaker 1: Schilling warned that a U.S. recession is almost inevitable by
- 31:23Speaker 1: year end, driven by a frozen housing market, corporate investment indicators,
- 31:28Speaker 1: and a weakening consumer base. Stocks are very expensive, and
- 31:32Speaker 1: there probably is a major correction coming somewhere in the
- 31:37Speaker 1: relatively near future, Schilling said. A decline of 20 or
- 31:41Speaker 1: 30 percent is no big deal by historical standards, so
- 31:44Speaker 1: I would say that's probably in the cards. I sort
- 31:47Speaker 1: of made a career looking for these hidden flaws, and
- 31:49Speaker 1: I don't see anything right now that is just screaming
- 31:53Speaker 1: for a big sell-off, but that doesn't mean it isn't there,
- 31:56Speaker 1: he added. Across America, real estate buyers and sellers have
- 32:00Speaker 1: been reluctant to make moves as interest rates remain elevated
- 32:04Speaker 1: and mortgage loan rates slowly tick down. There is also
- 32:07Speaker 1: a lack of affordable inventory and reports of rising foreclosures
- 32:11Speaker 1: signaling homeowners continue to get squeezed. Schilling also pointed to
- 32:15Speaker 1: what he described as a collapse in capital expenditures or
- 32:19Speaker 1: large investments that companies expect will last for years and
- 32:23Speaker 1: boost overall future values. Business Insider cited that broader capital
- 32:27Speaker 1: expenditures grew just 3.9% by the end of 2025 compared
- 32:32Speaker 1: with a pandemic peak of 24% cap growth. The Economist
- 32:36Speaker 1: spotlighted the state of the U.S. consumer as the third
- 32:39Speaker 1: pillar leading to a recession with the Federal Reserve preferred
- 32:43Speaker 1: inflation gauge remaining stubbornly high in March, going up 0.7%
- 32:49Speaker 1: month over month and up to 3.5% from a year ago.
- 32:53Speaker 1: When it comes to economic solutions, Schilling said a downturn
- 32:57Speaker 1: could be prevented by fiscal stimulus or strengthening consumers, both
- 33:02Speaker 1: of which he thinks are unlikely. That's really on very
- 33:06Speaker 1: thin ice in terms of income. in terms of people's
- 33:12Speaker 1: willingness to spend. Other economists appear divided on economic outlook
- 33:17Speaker 1: for 2026. BNY Wealth, head of investment strategies and equities,
- 33:23Speaker 1: Alicia Levin, said no recession is coming on making money.
- 33:26Speaker 1: With Charlie Payne last month, around the same time, billionaire
- 33:29Speaker 1: investor Leon Cooperman told Fox Business' Liz Klayman, that the U.S.
- 33:34Speaker 1: is heading toward a recession. My own view is there's
- 33:37Speaker 1: a lot of problems out there. The market's too highly valued. Well,
- 33:40Speaker 1: I could go on reading this. I was just reading
- 33:42Speaker 1: that prior to going on the air from these different
- 33:45Speaker 1: economic gurus. But it's simple math, and I put this
- 33:48Speaker 1: out there for everybody. You can't double somebody's electric rate.
- 33:52Speaker 1: You can't go from 4.5 to 9. The cost of
- 33:58Speaker 1: electricity is doubled. The cost of natural gas remains high.
- 34:02Speaker 1: The interest rates are people consider to be high at
- 34:07Speaker 1: six and a half percent. Housing prices are still inflated
- 34:12Speaker 1: to a large extent. And the burden of property taxes
- 34:16Speaker 1: and the inflation on groceries and everything else, insurance, you
- 34:19Speaker 1: name it. You can't have all of that stuff up
- 34:22Speaker 1: and think that. We're a consumer-based economy, that that's not
- 34:26Speaker 1: going to have an effect on the economy. If you
- 34:28Speaker 1: think it's not, then you've got blinders on. People only
- 34:32Speaker 1: have so much money.
- 34:34Speaker 9: Well, I'm glad you read that, because I agree. And
- 34:38Speaker 9: I want to say to that previous caller, investment capital
- 34:43Speaker 9: will always seek the lowest cost of production anywhere in
- 34:48Speaker 9: the world. And if you try to do like Rich
- 34:50Speaker 9: the pharmacist saying, oh, I want to create a law,
- 34:54Speaker 9: where you can't export oil or anything, you're just going
- 34:58Speaker 9: to ask for smuggling.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. We did have a law against that.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Then we changed the law. I mean, sometimes you've got
- 35:06Speaker 1: to look at America from an American first standpoint. All
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'm trying to say is, and a lot of the
- 35:11Speaker 1: Trumpsters get upset with this, think of how much better
- 35:14Speaker 1: off all of us would have been, economically speaking, if
- 35:17Speaker 1: this war would have never happened. Inflation was going down.
- 35:22Speaker 1: The economic indicators were in a much better place. Gas
- 35:25Speaker 1: prices were down about $ 2. 50 a gallon. The economic indicators
- 35:29Speaker 1: were going in the right direction. That's been basically erased
- 35:33Speaker 1: by this. And we shall see how long this goes
- 35:37Speaker 1: on and how long people can tolerate this increase. And
- 35:42Speaker 1: that's not to say, as I like to emphasize, that
- 35:45Speaker 1: Kamala Harris or Biden or any Democrat would be a
- 35:48Speaker 1: better choice. Hang on, Frank. I'll get back to him
- 35:51Speaker 1: and more of your calls straight ahead. We're on from
- 35:55Speaker 1: the Kingdom of Mahoning. Frank, let me ask you some
- 35:57Speaker 1: quick questions. Give me a yes or no answer. I'm
- 36:00Speaker 1: not optimistic on the American economy for the reasons I stated.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Energy costs too much. The huge and continuing growing debt
- 36:07Speaker 1: and deficits of the country. The burden of taxes. And
- 36:13Speaker 1: I'm not optimistic where our economy is in our country
- 36:17Speaker 1: at the present time. Are you? Yes or no?
- 36:21Speaker 9: I'm not optimistic. And Peter Schiff says rising oil prices
- 36:26Speaker 9: are not inflationary. They are recessionary, and Ron, I think
- 36:30Speaker 9: we might already be in recession, but the feds might
- 36:35Speaker 9: be manipulating the numbers because two quarters of negative economic
- 36:40Speaker 9: growth is the definition of recession.
- 36:43Speaker 1: All right, follow-up quick question before I get a break
- 36:46Speaker 1: from my headlines. I think the economy would be in
- 36:48Speaker 1: a much better place had he never got to start
- 36:50Speaker 1: this war in the first place. Would you agree with
- 36:52Speaker 1: that or not?
- 36:54Speaker 9: Oh, definitely, and as long as we continue bombing Iranian
- 36:59Speaker 9: oil wells, once they cap those wells, oil droplets seep in.
- 37:05Speaker 9: I got a break.
- 37:12Speaker 20: From ABC News, I'm Chuck Sievertson. Surveys of fuel pump
- 37:16Speaker 20: numbers show gasoline prices are now the highest since July 2022.
- 37:20Speaker 21: $ 4.
- 37:20Speaker 20: 50 a gallon for a national average. ABC's Karen Travers
- 37:25Speaker 20: at the White House.
- 37:26Speaker 22: We have heard the president say repeatedly that as soon
- 37:28Speaker 22: as the war ends, gas prices are going to come
- 37:31Speaker 22: plummeting right back down to.
- 37:32Speaker 23: Where they were before the war started.
- 37:35Speaker 22: But experts and analysts continue to say that is just
- 37:38Speaker 22: not going to happen as quickly as he is saying.
- 37:40Speaker 22: It's going to take time for all of this to
- 37:42Speaker 22: snap back after how much this has been impacted because
- 37:45Speaker 22: of what's going on in the Strait of Hormuz. So
- 37:47Speaker 22: even if the president says this week the war is over,
- 37:50Speaker 22: we're not likely to see gas prices go down for
- 37:53Speaker 22: some time.
- 37:53Speaker 20: ABC's Karen Travers.
- 37:55Speaker 1: The U.S.
- 37:55Speaker 20: Military, under what officials call Project Freedom, is ensuring safe
- 37:59Speaker 20: passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz. No
- 38:02Speaker 20: word yet how many shipping companies and their insurance carriers
- 38:06Speaker 20: will agree to it. Secretary of State Rubio announcing that
- 38:09Speaker 20: the U.S. would forward a new draft resolution before the U.N.
- 38:13Speaker 20: Security Council to defend freedom of navigation in the Strait
- 38:17Speaker 20: of Hormuz.
- 38:17Speaker 24: There is no scenario here in which if they decide
- 38:21Speaker 24: to join a ladder of escalation, they wind up getting
- 38:23Speaker 24: the last say. But our preference is for these straits
- 38:26Speaker 24: to be opened to the way they're supposed to be opened,
- 38:29Speaker 24: back to the way it was. Anyone can use it.
- 38:31Speaker 24: No mines in the water. Nobody paying tolls. That's what
- 38:34Speaker 24: we have to get back to, and that's the goal here.
- 38:36Speaker 20: To lower gasoline prices, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says he
- 38:40Speaker 20: plans to keep the state gas tax at its current rate,
- 38:43Speaker 20: stopping a small increase set for July. Isolating in their cabins,
- 38:47Speaker 20: 150 passengers and crew on a Dutch cruise ship anchored
- 38:51Speaker 20: off the coast of West Africa. Three passengers have died.
- 38:54Speaker 20: At least four others are sick. Health officials say it's
- 38:56Speaker 20: from hantavirus, usually spread by inhaling contaminated rodent droppings. Medical
- 39:01Speaker 20: teams have just finished assessing three patients on board before
- 39:05Speaker 20: evacuations as the World Health Organization. You're listening to ABC News.
- 39:11Speaker 15: WKBN.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Well, the good news is our phone lines are functioning
- 39:13Speaker 1: just fine today, unlike yesterday. 69 degrees on this Tuesday,
- 39:17Speaker 1: May 5th. With you until 7 tonight, Ron Verb from
- 39:20Speaker 1: the Kingdom of Mahoning on News Radio 570 WKBN. If
- 39:24Speaker 1: you want to run up the flagpole, see if anybody salutes.
- 39:26Speaker 17: 330-729-9977.
- 39:29Speaker 1: 330-729-9977. We'll get you through to us here this afternoon
- 39:35Speaker 1: on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. I say this quite often to you,
- 39:39Speaker 1: but I mean, if I bend your ear for just
- 39:41Speaker 1: a second, and I will get back to the patient callers,
- 39:45Speaker 1: this is... You cannot operate as a cheerleader. I couldn't
- 39:50Speaker 1: be a cheerleader for Democrats or Republicans. And you just
- 39:55Speaker 1: got to call it as you see it. Make no
- 39:58Speaker 1: mistake about it. If I criticize this war situation or
- 40:02Speaker 1: what the Trump administration is doing, by no means does
- 40:04Speaker 1: it mean for one second that I think the Democrats
- 40:07Speaker 1: are the answer. They're a sheer disaster. Would I be
- 40:10Speaker 1: better off if Kamala Harris was president? Absolutely not. Or
- 40:13Speaker 1: if Joe Biden was still around? Absolutely not. And do
- 40:17Speaker 1: I think that Sherrod Brown should win over John Husted?
- 40:21Speaker 1: Absolutely not. Under no circumstances, and I want to make
- 40:24Speaker 1: this perfectly clear, will I vote for a Democrat? They
- 40:29Speaker 1: are an absolute disaster. Their party is so far left
- 40:33Speaker 1: with their craziness that goes on, I can't support it.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I can't support people that can't define what a woman is,
- 40:40Speaker 1: that thinks men can have babies and tampons in male restrooms,
- 40:44Speaker 1: and just the craziness of not hiring on merit, but
- 40:48Speaker 1: are you gay or transgender? Just the craziness of their
- 40:51Speaker 1: social agenda. let alone their fiscal agenda, where the answer
- 40:55Speaker 1: always is more taxes and more government programs and more
- 40:59Speaker 1: government spending, saying growing government seems to be the answer
- 41:02Speaker 1: to everything. So I can't vote for a Democrat, period.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I've watched them just lie to people. As you see
- 41:08Speaker 1: them in Virginia, oh, we're not going to raise taxes
- 41:11Speaker 1: on the normal citizen. But lo and behold, property taxes
- 41:15Speaker 1: go up in Virginia, or likewise in New York with Mondami,
- 41:20Speaker 1: with putting property taxes going up to support all these
- 41:25Speaker 1: giveaway programs. I've said this to you a million times.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I don't know how much more you can expect to
- 41:30Speaker 1: take from productive people. I don't care if you're rich.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Or if you're upper middle class or you're lower middle
- 41:36Speaker 1: class or what category you're in. How much more should
- 41:39Speaker 1: a society take and punish productive people? By saying, okay,
- 41:44Speaker 1: you've done something or you've created a business or you've
- 41:47Speaker 1: gone to school or you work hard. And because of that,
- 41:50Speaker 1: we're going to take more of your money so we
- 41:52Speaker 1: can give it to these people who've done none of that. Well,
- 41:55Speaker 1: I don't know how much more you can go along
- 41:59Speaker 1: those lines and continue with that thinking. So that's why
- 42:02Speaker 1: I could never vote for the Democrats, period. I don't
- 42:05Speaker 1: agree with them on their view of police and law
- 42:09Speaker 1: and order. I just could not support them at all.
- 42:13Speaker 1: They're just crazy to me, their entire agenda. So with
- 42:18Speaker 1: that being said... I'll be the first to say, I
- 42:21Speaker 1: think Trump was right on par. He was right on
- 42:24Speaker 1: course with surrounding himself with just these brilliant people. The
- 42:29Speaker 1: people who weren't politicians, but were people that were successful
- 42:32Speaker 1: in private sector trying to say, okay, Biden's gone. Inflation
- 42:36Speaker 1: is high. The economy sucks. How do we fix it?
- 42:40Speaker 1: And by bringing in people that are successful and understand
- 42:43Speaker 1: the private sector economy, not growing jobs by growing governments,
- 42:48Speaker 1: but by growing the private sector and And bringing these
- 42:51Speaker 1: people he surrounded him with, I thought and I think
- 42:55Speaker 1: that they have the country going in the right direction.
- 42:58Speaker 1: And you could see it happening. You could see companies
- 43:00Speaker 1: coming back to America with a favorable business environment, bringing
- 43:04Speaker 1: private sector money here, jobs, trying to bring jobs back
- 43:08Speaker 1: here because of tariffs. I mean, everything was going in
- 43:12Speaker 1: the right direction. Inflation coming down, energy prices down, gasoline
- 43:17Speaker 1: down about 250 a gallon, energy prices coming down, drilling
- 43:22Speaker 1: booming because a lot of the regulations they got rid
- 43:26Speaker 1: of that Biden put there because they hated fossil fuels.
- 43:31Speaker 1: I could go on and on. So it was going
- 43:33Speaker 1: in the right direction. And what happened? frustrates me is
- 43:39Speaker 1: all of that's been derailed. I would like to sit
- 43:43Speaker 1: here and think, gee, can you imagine where we would
- 43:45Speaker 1: be if this war never started? Can you imagine where
- 43:50Speaker 1: economically being, where your life would be, where your economics
- 43:54Speaker 1: would be if this never started? It would certainly be
- 44:01Speaker 1: in a much better position and getting even better. But
- 44:10Speaker 1: because of this action, and it should be debated whether
- 44:15Speaker 1: or not we should have been there in the first
- 44:17Speaker 1: place and started this in the first place. I don't
- 44:20Speaker 1: know what comes from it, but it's certainly worth a debate.
- 44:22Speaker 1: But it's a done deal at this point in time.
- 44:26Speaker 1: But it certainly is worth debating as to why now,
- 44:30Speaker 1: why some of the critics that say this is all
- 44:34Speaker 1: influenced by Israel and the lobbyists. And it was in
- 44:37Speaker 1: their best interest, not necessarily in America's best interest. And
- 44:43Speaker 1: certainly went against what Trump was running on as far
- 44:46Speaker 1: as getting involved in these endless wars or regime change.
- 44:50Speaker 1: And this kind of stuff was kind of a 180
- 44:53Speaker 1: from what he ran on. And that's fair criticism because
- 44:56Speaker 1: it is exactly that. So it's something worth debating at
- 45:01Speaker 1: some point. It's not worth debating as you see the
- 45:05Speaker 1: Democrats do it. The Democrats are almost at a point
- 45:08Speaker 1: where they cheer against Trump. I mean, as they often say,
- 45:11Speaker 1: they hate Trump more than they love America. So even
- 45:16Speaker 1: when things you could look, they hate Trump more than
- 45:18Speaker 1: they love America. You could look at this situation because
- 45:21Speaker 1: you've got to deal with the reality. It's here. And
- 45:23Speaker 1: it does seem militarily like things are going really well, right?
- 45:26Speaker 1: That it's been executed. The military has done an excellent
- 45:28Speaker 1: job on it. This blockade is doing a pretty good job.
- 45:33Speaker 1: And certainly Iran has got some big-time economic issues in
- 45:37Speaker 1: their country and for their people. And so the administration
- 45:41Speaker 1: seems to think it's just a matter of time before
- 45:44Speaker 1: they'll be successful in accomplishing the goal. I mentioned to
- 45:48Speaker 1: you yesterday, I am confident this is taking more time
- 45:53Speaker 1: than they ever thought it would. That they thought that
- 45:57Speaker 1: this would be much easier and take more time. And
- 46:00Speaker 1: I can't tell you how much more time it's going
- 46:02Speaker 1: to take or even if it'd be successful, as I say,
- 46:06Speaker 1: you got to understand your enemy. And I don't understand them.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I don't understand their culture. I don't understand how much
- 46:12Speaker 1: pain they want to take or not take from looking
- 46:16Speaker 1: at it from their standpoint. As I said, their philosophy
- 46:20Speaker 1: might be who's the United States to tell us we
- 46:22Speaker 1: can't have a nuclear weapon when Israel can have one.
- 46:24Speaker 1: And Israel to them is the enemy. Who are they
- 46:28Speaker 1: to tell us what we can do as a country
- 46:30Speaker 1: of 93 million people? And a lot of the people
- 46:32Speaker 1: in the country might have their backup to that as
- 46:35Speaker 1: they see their country getting destroyed. They live there. It's
- 46:39Speaker 1: a much different scenario when you live somewhere, and this
- 46:41Speaker 1: is happening, as we as a country learned in Vietnam,
- 46:45Speaker 1: as we as a country learned in Afghanistan, when we
- 46:47Speaker 1: thought many of these things would be easy, but we
- 46:50Speaker 1: don't live there. And we go back to where we live,
- 46:53Speaker 1: and we go home. We don't stay there. And you
- 46:56Speaker 1: can see the flaws that happens. I can sit back
- 46:59Speaker 1: from a historical standpoint and say, well, what did all
- 47:01Speaker 1: of those people die for in Vietnam and get injured
- 47:05Speaker 1: in Vietnam when we pulled out and left? I can
- 47:08Speaker 1: say the same thing years later about Afghanistan. We've just
- 47:13Speaker 1: never been really good with those type of situations in
- 47:19Speaker 1: the history of this country and anywhere in the Middle East.
- 47:23Speaker 1: So that's why many people, including Trump supporters, are very
- 47:26Speaker 1: critical of Trump that he got involved in this in
- 47:28Speaker 1: the first place. Because you've got to understand, can we
- 47:32Speaker 1: crush him economically? Maybe so. Can they give in? Maybe so.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Can they say, we're not going to do that and
- 47:40Speaker 1: have resolve? This is where we live. You're on a timeline.
- 47:42Speaker 1: You've got to get out of here and we'll wait
- 47:44Speaker 1: you out. Maybe that's their philosophy. I don't know the
- 47:48Speaker 1: answer to that. And you don't know the answer to that.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I mean, I acknowledge... Obviously, those people in the White
- 47:53Speaker 1: House know a lot more than Rubio and those folks
- 47:56Speaker 1: than we do. We can only talk and speculate. But
- 48:00Speaker 1: I do know this much. I do know that if
- 48:05Speaker 1: this continues on, if you take a look at what
- 48:08Speaker 1: it's doing economically, I sincerely believe, like when I read
- 48:11Speaker 1: that story the last hour on Twitter, these gurus talking
- 48:16Speaker 1: about recessions, things that are not looking good for the economy.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I sit back here, and out of sheer concern for
- 48:23Speaker 1: all of you, I don't care if you're Democrats, Republicans,
- 48:25Speaker 1: if you're retired, or if you're working, or whatever your
- 48:28Speaker 1: situation might be. As they say, we're all in this together.
- 48:34Speaker 1: And I get somewhat frustrated with the sense that, hey,
- 48:37Speaker 1: the debt deficit of this country is you're approaching $ 40 trillion.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I mean, it just keeps growing and growing. And it's
- 48:46Speaker 1: like a cancer. And we just keep spending more money
- 48:50Speaker 1: than we're taking in on our tax revenue. Do you
- 48:53Speaker 1: think that's healthy for a country? I just ask you
- 48:55Speaker 1: to give it some consideration. Do you think it's healthy
- 48:58Speaker 1: for a country to be that far in debt? As
- 49:01Speaker 1: I say, if I asked you to write $ 40 trillion
- 49:03Speaker 1: on a paper, you wouldn't know how many zeros to
- 49:05Speaker 1: put after it. It's such a large amount. It's like
- 49:08Speaker 1: it's hard to fathom. But do you think as a
- 49:12Speaker 1: country that's good to continue to grow that? Do you
- 49:15Speaker 1: think as a country that the amount of interest that
- 49:18Speaker 1: you have to pay our second biggest expenditure, is money wasted?
- 49:25Speaker 1: That we're spending so much money just paying the interest
- 49:27Speaker 1: on this that it's just wasted money? Do you think
- 49:31Speaker 1: that Republicans or Democrats, anybody involved, will ever get spending
- 49:35Speaker 1: in line to reduce this huge debt that we have?
- 49:41Speaker 1: Is there any signs that Democrats or Republicans are willing
- 49:45Speaker 1: to cut enough and get spending in line so this
- 49:48Speaker 1: country doesn't continue to grow its debt and grow its
- 49:51Speaker 1: interest payments? And at some point, sooner than later, the
- 49:55Speaker 1: crap hits the fan. And then we all pay a
- 49:57Speaker 1: dear price from politicians from years ago, Democrats and Republicans,
- 50:02Speaker 1: who simply didn't give a damn as they continue to
- 50:05Speaker 1: up this debt and deficit. And it continues to go up,
- 50:08Speaker 1: Republicans and Democrats. Well, if you don't think the crap
- 50:11Speaker 1: hit the fan at some point sooner than later, then
- 50:13Speaker 1: you're naive to it. And when it does, it affects everybody.
- 50:17Speaker 1: I don't care if you're on Medicaid or Medicare or
- 50:20Speaker 1: Social Security or what stocks and investments you have. It
- 50:24Speaker 1: becomes things can change overnight in the blink of an eye.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And yet it doesn't get addressed. And yet you could
- 50:36Speaker 1: see when Elon Musk was trying to do it, the
- 50:38Speaker 1: Democrats did everything they could do to get rid of
- 50:40Speaker 1: Elon Musk and destroy him. And they were successful. And
- 50:44Speaker 1: he left and Doge left for simply exposing billions of
- 50:50Speaker 1: dollars of wasteful spending to other countries of your tax
- 50:53Speaker 1: dollars and or the debt that this country's taken on.
- 50:57Speaker 1: So if you could see what they did then, what
- 51:01Speaker 1: makes you think they'll ever fix that problem in the future?
- 51:06Speaker 1: But I wouldn't sit and justify, think everything's great if
- 51:11Speaker 1: Biden was running it or Trump is running it. We
- 51:14Speaker 1: have a serious economic problem now, and I hope that
- 51:17Speaker 1: this thing can be resolved sooner than later. I keep hearing,
- 51:20Speaker 1: like last week, as I said, I was hearing, oh,
- 51:22Speaker 1: Iran wants to make a deal. I've been hearing this
- 51:24Speaker 1: for weeks. Iran wants to make a deal. Well, there
- 51:26Speaker 1: is no deal. Iran's not making a deal. And what's
- 51:33Speaker 1: going on? You keep telling me they want to make
- 51:35Speaker 1: a deal. Where is the deal? I'd like to see
- 51:36Speaker 1: a deal made. I'd like to see an end come
- 51:39Speaker 1: to this. But is that going to be... This week,
- 51:45Speaker 1: this month, this year. Stock market's up one day, down
- 51:53Speaker 1: one day. Huge increases, huge declines. That's a big effect
- 52:00Speaker 1: on people's psychology on their retirement. Many people that are
- 52:04Speaker 1: close to retirement or in retirement, that is a direct
- 52:06Speaker 1: effect on their life. And on people, there's a psychological
- 52:13Speaker 1: effect that that has on people when they look at
- 52:15Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. About half the people are in
- 52:18Speaker 1: a 401k or in the stock market in some fashion
- 52:20Speaker 1: like that. Just as that price on a corner gas
- 52:23Speaker 1: station here that I drive by at 224 and South
- 52:27Speaker 1: Avenue every day has a big influence on your psychology
- 52:30Speaker 1: as well when you see $ 4. 80 or $ 5 a gallon.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Or the sticker shock when you fill it up with
- 52:35Speaker 1: your car up or truck or whatever and you see, wow,
- 52:39Speaker 1: it's $ 90 or it's $ 80. Well, that's $ 80 out of
- 52:42Speaker 1: your pocket, maybe $ 40 more than you'd normally be spending
- 52:47Speaker 1: that you'd spend somewhere else. Well, now you can't do
- 52:50Speaker 1: that because you're paying for gas, so it's a ripple effect.
- 52:57Speaker 1: How do you expect people to make a go of
- 52:58Speaker 1: it when, as I say, electricity rates have doubled, property
- 53:02Speaker 1: taxes continue to go up astronomically, and the re-evaluations are there,
- 53:06Speaker 1: and you have commissioners and moaning in Trumbull County who
- 53:09Speaker 1: don't give a damn to even... give you some degree
- 53:11Speaker 1: of relief with the power that they have. Government continues
- 53:14Speaker 1: to tax you ridiculously with property taxes. You got your
- 53:19Speaker 1: utilities costing you more. You need electricity. You need natural gas.
- 53:23Speaker 1: You need gasoline. And all of them have gone up substantially.
- 53:28Speaker 1: You can see what effect it has on groceries and
- 53:31Speaker 1: just the necessities of life. Well, people only got so
- 53:34Speaker 1: much money to spend. And with all this stuff costing more,
- 53:38Speaker 1: insurance included and what have you, They got to cut somewhere.
- 53:42Speaker 1: And it's not a good scenario. So that's why I
- 53:45Speaker 1: sit back and say, this is not good. This has
- 53:49Speaker 1: got to get resolved. And stop telling me a deal's imminent,
- 53:54Speaker 1: a deal's imminent when it's not. And because you can
- 54:00Speaker 1: have a serious, people are having some serious issues right
- 54:03Speaker 1: now in their economics right now and business as well
- 54:07Speaker 1: right now. And it can get a lot worse. So
- 54:11Speaker 1: it doesn't matter to me if it's Trump as president
- 54:14Speaker 1: or anybody else. You got to look at it realistically.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I hope this thing can get settled. But but when
- 54:22Speaker 1: and how much longer? Who knows?
- 54:28Speaker 13: Youngstown's news, weather and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 54:35Speaker 1: And Ron Verbin, you're on the air.
- 54:37Speaker 19: Hello.
- 54:38Speaker 7: Yes, Ron, I agree with you that these high gas
- 54:42Speaker 7: prices are the result of our involvement in the Persian
- 54:45Speaker 7: Gulf War. But that is a result of taking action.
- 54:51Speaker 7: There's also results when you don't take action. Neville Chamberlain
- 54:55Speaker 7: didn't take action, and we ended up with World War II.
- 55:02Speaker 7: Joe Biden, Barack Obama, they both took appeasement, and we
- 55:06Speaker 7: still got this Persian Gulf War. My fear is this.
- 55:10Speaker 7: If we did not give Israel the means to defeat
- 55:15Speaker 7: Iran with conventional weapons, they would be forced to go nuclear.
- 55:20Speaker 7: They have fallout shelters for their whole population. They could
- 55:25Speaker 7: send off easily three or four nukes, hit Muslim countries
- 55:30Speaker 7: as their enemies, and that radiation would find its way
- 55:35Speaker 7: to the United States. Now, I don't know if that's
- 55:39Speaker 7: something you think is worse than $ 5 gas. And then
- 55:42Speaker 7: after they hit the Persian Gulf, that Persian Gulf would
- 55:45Speaker 7: be shut down for decades until the radiation cooled off,
- 55:49Speaker 7: and then they could go back and rebuild. So I
- 55:52Speaker 7: think Trump is doing a terrific job here, all right,
- 55:56Speaker 7: preventing a real disaster. It's costing us a little bit, 25%
- 56:01Speaker 7: increase in gas, but it's well worth it.
- 56:05Speaker 1: All right. Thank you. You're on the air.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Hello.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Thank you so much for taking my call.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Thank you. One of the issues you seem to talk
- 56:17Speaker 2: about quite frequently, and I'm not a regular listener, I'm
- 56:22Speaker 2: a seasonal listener, kind of between May and November, but
- 56:28Speaker 2: you keep talking about the property taxes. I had mentioned
- 56:33Speaker 2: this to you before, maybe about a half a year ago.
- 56:37Speaker 2: The issue with the property taxes here in the state
- 56:39Speaker 2: of Ohio um... and you in this station that you
- 56:45Speaker 2: represent have uh... always promoted the republican no tax people
- 56:51Speaker 2: and they followed through on their promises essentially during the
- 56:56Speaker 2: election of two thousand thirteen when john casich and the
- 57:00Speaker 2: republicans took control of the state of ohio what they
- 57:04Speaker 2: did they eliminated.
- 57:06Speaker 4: All the uh..
- 57:08Speaker 2: Taxes on business. So Ohio is only one of five
- 57:13Speaker 2: states of the 50 that does not tax business. So
- 57:20Speaker 2: what they did, they lowered taxes not to the public,
- 57:25Speaker 2: low-business jurisdiction, but to the benefactors that pay for their election.
- 57:30Speaker 2: So they eliminated all the business taxes. They shifted that
- 57:34Speaker 2: burden to the property owner. Secondly, What they did also
- 57:40Speaker 2: is they did the $ 200, 000.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Well, pause for just a second. Does business still pay
- 57:47Speaker 1: property taxes?
- 57:50Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I couldn't hear.
- 57:51Speaker 1: You, sir. I said before you go too far, does
- 57:54Speaker 1: a business pay property taxes just like I do? Like
- 57:57Speaker 1: for Home Depot, do they pay property taxes on that facility?
- 58:01Speaker 2: I believe they pay property. They don't pay tax on
- 58:04Speaker 2: their profit.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Okay, but they do pay property taxes, correct? Stand by.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Just stand by. I'm going to come back to you
- 58:11Speaker 1: in a minute. I'll come right back to him after this.
- 58:13Speaker 4: Dot com.
- 58:14Speaker 13: News Radio 570. WKV's Radio 570.
- 58:18Speaker 1: WKVN. 5 for 35 in the afternoon, 69 degrees. This
- 58:24Speaker 1: is primary election day in Ohio, so make sure you
- 58:27Speaker 1: go on out and cast an informed vote. News Radio 570, WKVN.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Polls open till, what, seven? All right, let me go
- 58:34Speaker 1: back to the gentleman who's saying that when we're talking
- 58:38Speaker 1: about the burden of property taxes, that is our homeowners,
- 58:42Speaker 1: he was talking about how businesses got off the hook
- 58:47Speaker 1: of paying their fair share. Go ahead with your thoughts, sir.
- 58:51Speaker 2: Secondly, in the same time, the same time frame, they
- 58:55Speaker 2: also cast this $ 250, 000 cash through. I think I heard
- 58:59Speaker 2: on this station... Correct me if I'm in error. Did
- 59:02Speaker 2: you have a side hustle as a landscaper? Or you
- 59:05Speaker 2: cut grass?
- 59:06Speaker 15: Is that correct?
- 59:06Speaker 1: Oh, we've had a family business for many, many years.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 59:10Speaker 2: So if you're an LLC, and I'm not going to
- 59:12Speaker 2: ask you if you're an LLC, you can also tell
- 59:15Speaker 2: your listeners if you want to share that information. Because
- 59:19Speaker 2: in that same time frame, the state of Ohio said,
- 59:23Speaker 2: if you declare an LLC and currently... For $ 99, you
- 59:27Speaker 2: can get an LLC certificate to be tax-free. You pay
- 59:33Speaker 2: no tax, up to $ 250, 000. So using an example, Wanda
- 59:38Speaker 2: and Willie work at Walmart. They have a $ 70, 000 income combined.
- 59:45Speaker 2: And they pay over $ 2, 000 in taxes, state income tax.
- 59:50Speaker 2: But if you have a side hustle, and you say
- 59:53Speaker 2: you did, you probably, well, I'm not going to ask
- 59:56Speaker 2: you if you pay taxes or not if you're an LLC,
- 59:58Speaker 2: but you're exempt up to $ 250, 000. So prior to 2020,
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: prior to 2025.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Let me just pause you for a minute.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: One million people with LLC.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Well, let me pause you for one second. Just let
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: me pause you for one second. Because I can tell
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: you as somebody who does, just so you can clarify it,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: with the CPA, we do nothing but pay taxes. On
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: a regular basis. I mean, the burden of taxes on
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: a small business is astronomical. I'm here to tell you
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: right now that many small businesses are failing. You want
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: to act as though there aren't taxes involved in it.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: There's all kinds of taxes involved. That's why you have
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: accountants to figure it out. And you're constantly sending money
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: to the government's. It's constantly going out. So all I
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: can do for you is I recommend the following. Go
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: get into business and then see how it goes. You
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: think that you're going to make $ 250, 000 and not pay
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: tax on it? Do you really believe that? Well, good
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: luck with all of that. Now, any business gets deductions,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: but guess what that deduction is? You've got to go
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: out and spend $ 70, 000 on buying a piece of equipment
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: to write it off. Now, you can write it off
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: in one year, but you still spent $ 70, 000 to buy
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: a piece of equipment for that business. So employ a person.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: And so just employ the person as a business where
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: you pay half their Social Security tax, where you pay
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: their unemployment, where you pay workers' comp. Just not employing
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: a person. Look at any business. Look at what it
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: costs to employ a person. Not on what it costs
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to pay him per hour at $ 15 an hour, $ 20
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: an hour. Look at all the other additional costs a
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: business has to pay just to create a job, just
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: to employ a person. When you talk about business doesn't
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: have to pay any tax. It's well beyond what you
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: pay the person on an hourly wage. So be careful
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: when you act like it's such a great thing that
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: no one's paying any taxes on it. I don't know
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: any small business that isn't constantly writing checks to the
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: federal government or the state on any number of things.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Then on top of it, the state insists that you
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: collect and file a sales tax. I mean, it's just
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: constant taxing for a business. I'm here to tell you
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: many small businesses are teetering right now on staying in
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: business because inflation-wise, I'm going to tell you what small
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: businesses tell me. The cost of fuel, the cost of parts,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the cost of repairs, the cost of insurance is putting
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: them out of business. So I don't know that it's
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: a gravy train that you want to make it out
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: to be. Or that you want to act like they're
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: not paying taxes. Certainly, if you're a sole proprietor or
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: whatever type LLC you have set up, however you run
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: your business, there's certainly income tax on it. If you
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: run it that way, it depends how it's set up.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: But needless to say, there is no free lunch. I
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: don't know where you come up with this nonsense. It's
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: a very difficult... being in any type of business in
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: today's environment. I don't care if you're an incorporated, if
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: you're an LLC, or where you are in it. And
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: that's why many businesses fail and are failing. But go
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: ahead with your thoughts.
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: My turn? Thank you so much. Nowhere at the beginning
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: of what I said that I mentioned about not paying taxes,
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I said net income. So I agree with you in toto.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Everything you said previous to what now is subterfuge. Basically,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: I agree with you. You pay taxes on everything from
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: employees to your portion of Social Security. Absolutely. You don't
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: pay self-tax on your equipment, you person, because if you're yellow, see.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: You're tax-exempt. You are not tax-exempt. You very much do
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: pay sales tax on every piece of equipment that you buy.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: If you go buy a piece of equipment, you are
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: charged sales tax on it. You are not a non-profit.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: You are not a church.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: I understand that, but all that is deducted when you
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: get to your net income. I'm talking net income when
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: you pay all those taxes that you talked about, and
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I agree with you. Taxes are there for everybody to
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: that point. However, I'm Billy the barber, and I have
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: my single shop, and I've decided to be, I'm going
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: to be Billy the Barber LLC, and I make $ 70, 000 net.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: After all my expenses, I pay the property tax. I
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: pay whatever tax and your opportunity, where my shop is located,
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: my net income is $ 70, 000. I pay no income tax
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: because the state of Ohio is giving me that pass-through.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: So they've shifted that burden. To the landowner, the homeowner.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Well, you show me a guy. I just say this
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: to you. You show me a guy making $ 70, 000 a
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: year in a small business in income that doesn't pay taxes.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: I didn't say you didn't pay taxes. I'm saying you
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: didn't pay state income tax. You're trying to.
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: I'm trying to pay state income tax.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: You know, income tax. I forget what the income tax is.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: in the state of Ohio. The income tax in Ohio
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: has come down, percentage-wise. But then again, you could move
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: to Florida, and there's no income tax.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Again, you're trying to deviate.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I'm not trying to deviate. I'm saying there is an
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: income tax. Is there an income tax in the state
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: of Ohio?
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yes, there is. I'm not an Ohio resident, so I
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: don't pay the tax. Secondly, I'm a senior, so I
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: don't pay the tax in the state of Pennsylvania. So
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: I'm a lucky recipient in that regard. And also, if
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: I can segue into this too, you keep saying about
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: the benefit of the addition.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you what AI says to me.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: For the 2026 tax year, Ohio has transitioned to a
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: flat income tax structure, significantly changing how residents are taxed.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: The state now imposes a flat rate of 2.75% on
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: most taxable income with no state income tax owed on
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: incomes up to $ 26, 000.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: But if you're an LLC, you pay no state income tax.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: So if you're over $ 26, 000, there is a 2.75% tax.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: A lot of what you're saying on LLCs is just wrong.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: I just.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Read the state code in the state of Ohio. So
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: if you read the bottom of AI, AI may not
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: be factual information. So I read from the state of
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Ohio that there's a nexus of..
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Well, I don't understand why we don't have a bunch
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: of rich small business guys.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: I'm not talking about rich small business guys. I'm talking
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: about the fact that the shifting of the burden is
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: on to the property owner. That's the point I'm trying
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: to make. And again, you give me subterfuge. You go
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: around into a circle..
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you this. Let me ask you
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: this when you want to talk about this. Is it
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: a possibility that the state, we used to have what's
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: called a local government fund. Are you familiar with that?
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Well, that's part of your problem. There was a local government. Well, no,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: that is part of your problem. There was what's called
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: a local government fund that the state would give back
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: to your community. The state of Ohio has decided the state,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: it's going to keep most of that money and not
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: give it back to your local community. Do you think
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: because they want that money in Columbus and you're still
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: paying it. But it's staying in Columbus, your tax dollars,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: and it's not going back to your local community. Do
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: you think that might be why that they are putting
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: more property taxes on you? Do you think it might
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: be a possibility that we continue to grow local governments,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: that we continue to grow things in local governments and
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: try to do more things for more people? And that's
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: certainly debatable whether we should be doing it. No one's
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: personally responsible. We have all types of levies that are
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: out there, library levies, senior levies. We're trying to take
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: care of everybody. So do you think that might be
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: why property taxes go up?
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: So you're saying that the state, Republican-controlled, since 2008? in
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: 2013 is not giving back the money to the people
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: that voted them in?
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm saying... Why do you.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Continue to say elect Republicans because they withhold the money?
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: I just don't understand that.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Because Democrats want to tax you even more. All Democrats
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: want to do. Do you think if you tax business
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: more and tax individuals more, you're better off?
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: What do the Democrats want to tax, specifically?
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: If you want to tax business more from the Democrats,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: and you want to tax homeowners more, for example, it's
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: the Republicans that change the property tax. Dave Thomas has
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: recently made changes, for example, on your re-evaluations, that it's
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: not going to be a 20 or 30 percent increase
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: on your re-evaluation. That it's going to be capped at
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: the existing rate of inflation that you figure for Social Security.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: The Democrats didn't support that. The Republicans did. So if
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: the Democrats had their way, when we reevaluate your house
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: and say it's gone up 20 or 30 percent, if
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: the Democrats had their way, you would get another astronomical
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: income or property tax increase. If the Democrats had their way.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Do you think that's good for the homeowner? You know,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: you keep talking about all this stuff the Republicans have done.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: The Republicans... because of Dave Thomas and getting it passed,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: have changed numerous things when it comes to your property
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: taxes to try to stop 20 and 30 percent increases
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: on your property tax. The Democrats didn't vote for it.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: They think you should pay more. So how is that good?
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: And by the way, even if you're a Democrat and
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: you say, let's tax business more, is that good for
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: the state of Ohio?
- 1:10:53Speaker 17: No.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Is that good for business development in the state of Ohio?
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Or attracting business? Or keeping business? Is the answer like
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: they want to do in New York? Or they want
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: to do in Virginia? Is that healthy for private sector business?
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: And creating jobs? You tell me.
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: Are you finished?
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: I'm waiting. I'm listening.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: You were monopolizing the conversation there.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: And I did read what... Representative Thomas and also Mr. Massey,
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: they were interviewed both in the centennial, the newspaper in
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Asheville County. Neither one of them were specific as to
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: where this shifting of money.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: Is going to go.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: So all they're doing is taking a pot of money,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: whatever it is, this pot, and so let's do it
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: as an analogy. Put it right down the middle. Half
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: is property tax, half is something else. all David Thomas
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: is doing is shifting the burden. He's going to say, okay,
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: we won't collect 30%, whatever the pass-through you alluded to,
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: shift it to a different perspective, and the taxes are
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: going to go still back onto the property owner because,
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: number one, there is no tax on business in the
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: state of Ohio. They eliminated that in 2013. Last year, 2025,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: the state of Pennsylvania collected $ 1. 1 billion and gave that
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: money to the individual school districts in the state of Pennsylvania.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Since 2013, that burden has been on, on, on, on
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: to the people that own property in the state of Ohio.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Yet you encourage them to vote Republicans to reduce taxes.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: And you're right.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: They reduce taxes for the benefactors, not for the people
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: that vote for them. And that's the issue I'm trying
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: to bring to light here.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I mean, you're certainly entitled to your opinion.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: I go back to say when you say shift the
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: burden of business does pay property taxes, does it not?
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Does Home Depot pay property taxes? Does Walmart pay property taxes?
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Okay. Significant ones, right? I mean, they would be significant ones.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: So if you want to eliminate property taxes, should Walmart
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: be entitled to elimination of their property taxes?
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Say again, please.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: Sure.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: If you want to eliminate, as described, you want to
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: get 600,000 signatures on the petition to eliminate property taxes.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: If that does go through, and my other opinion to that,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: if it does go through, is it Walmart entitled to
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: the same elimination of property tax?
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Yes, and I have a problem with that specifically. But
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. Should we be able
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: to tax a person out of their home?
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: That's why we should tax the industry.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: No, I'm going to just ask you, let's not just
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: stir the pot here. I'm asking you, when you're talking
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: about property taxes, What Dave Thomas did was cap the
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: increase that you can get. If we get a 20%
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: or 30% reevaluation, because property in my county is being
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: reevaluated right now, and instead of getting the 20% and 30% increase,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: now that's capped at the rate of inflation. So isn't
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: that beneficial to property tax owners? Or do you think
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: we should say, well, we now believe your house is
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: worth 20% or 30% more, so your taxes are now this?
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: I'm all for what Dave Thomas is doing, absolutely. I
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: had a chance to meet him last year, and I
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: encouraged him by all means.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: All right, so that benefits property tax owners, correct? Now,
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: the debate can be made by people saying, it's my
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: personal property, you shouldn't be able to tax me out
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: of my home. That's the argument that's being made because, unfortunately,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: that's what's going on with many people. They can no
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: longer afford their home. Now, that's a discussion. Are you
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: opposed to the voters in the state of Ohio given
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: the opportunity to vote on that?
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Absolutely not.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Okay, so let him vote on it.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: But you keep interrupting me. Let me give a... Allow
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: me to finish a sentence. So in this $ 600, 000 that Mr.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Massey said is needed for this..
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Right, signatures. Stand by, stand by. I'll get back to
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: you after the break for a few more minutes. Then
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: we'll move on. Radio 570 WKBN. All right, before I
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: run out of time, where was that gentleman?
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: I think..
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: I was talking to you.
- 1:15:42Speaker 19: Right.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Also, just the prediction, in the event that there was
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: adequate signatures for this to be on the ballot and
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: it is ruled that elimination of property taxes, I would
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: venture a guess today is, what, the 5th of May,
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: that it will eventually end up in Supreme Court, and
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: I think it's 9-9-0 in your state Supreme Court, so
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: they will find language that would not the passable, that
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: they would find it, that they would not be adequate
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: to adhere to the Constitution of the.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: State of Ohio.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: So I welcome and I kind of admire all the
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: people going through all these signatures. However, I don't want
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: to be a negative person, but if it does pass,
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: your Supreme Court will just say it's unconstitutional. And also,
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: let me just finish one thing. You keep saying about
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: the benefits to the seniors, and I'm the recipient of
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: the additional tax advantage or the deduction. But to be
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: candid with you, that was eaten up in the past
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: month and a half by virtue of the increased amount
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: I pay for gasoline and food, because it's about 3.5%.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: And I just want to end with that. And I
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: thank you for taking my call. And I did talk
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: to you about it half a year ago, and I
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: mentioned that quote from Dennis Diderot, the philosopher that talked
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: to Ben Franklin, he said, Ben, don't do like we
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: did and the monarchs did in this country. Give tax
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: benefits to the wealthy and tax the poor because you
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: won't have a republic anymore.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Well, in your dissertation, one thing that you didn't mention
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: is spending. And part of the problem is spending. all
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: of the spending that's going on, the growth of governments
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: and the lack of personal responsibility and the spending that's
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: going on and the burden that that's putting on people
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: is astronomical anymore. That's for a future discussion. I appreciate
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: your time. Good hearing from you again. And nice to
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: hear from you. We'll pause for the headlines at 5.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: News Radio 570, Dodie KvN and Ron Verp. Interesting guy.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Interesting guy. Got a lot of passion. I kind of
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: like that. We'll pause for the headlines at 5. Callers
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: in line, stand by. 330-729-9977. All you small business guys
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: didn't know how easy you had it until you heard him.
- 1:18:15Speaker 25: From ABC News, I'm Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime Streaming
- 1:18:24Speaker 25: Weeknights on ABC News Live.
- 1:18:26Speaker 26: Gasoline prices are now the highest since July of 2022,
- 1:18:30Speaker 26: $ 4. 50 a gallon for national average, connected to Iran effectively
- 1:18:34Speaker 26: closing the Strait of Hormuz, says analysts, including Patrick DeHaan
- 1:18:37Speaker 26: at GasBuddy.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: If the Strait remains closed, you know, into the month
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: of June, I think by July 4, we'll be at
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: all-time record highs.
- 1:18:45Speaker 18: U.S.

- 1:18:49Speaker 26: passage of commercial ships. ships through the Strait of Hormuz,
- 1:18:51Speaker 26: but there's no indication how many shipping companies and their
- 1:18:53Speaker 26: insurance carriers will take Uncle Sam up on it. Secretary
- 1:18:56Speaker 26: of State Marco Rubio announcing that the U.S. would forward
- 1:18:59Speaker 26: a new draft resolution before the U.N. Security Council to
- 1:19:02Speaker 26: mandate no sea mines, no tolls, no restrictions by Iran
- 1:19:05Speaker 26: in the Strait.
- 1:19:06Speaker 24: It cannot be that you have these straits. And they
- 1:19:08Speaker 24: blow up any ship that moves, and the only ships
- 1:19:10Speaker 24: they get to go through are theirs. You can't have
- 1:19:12Speaker 24: a situation in which the straits are close to everyone else,
- 1:19:14Speaker 24: but they benefit from the piracy. That can't happen. That's
- 1:19:17Speaker 24: why the blockade is in place, and that's why these
- 1:19:19Speaker 24: sanctions are crippling them.
- 1:19:20Speaker 26: The price for a barrel of Brent crude oil fell 3%
- 1:19:23Speaker 26: to $ 110, although that's still higher than the $ 70 before
- 1:19:27Speaker 26: the war with Iran. Medical teams have just finished assessing
- 1:19:30Speaker 26: three patients on board that Dutch cruise ship anchored off
- 1:19:33Speaker 26: West Africa before evacuation yesterday. says the World Health Organization.
- 1:19:37Speaker 26: They say it's hantavirus, usually spread through inhaling contaminated rodent droppings.
- 1:19:43Speaker 26: It can take eight weeks for symptoms to appear, says
- 1:19:45Speaker 26: the WHO's Dr.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Anne Lindstrand.
- 1:19:47Speaker 27: Eight weeks is a very, very long time to be
- 1:19:50Speaker 27: in a quarantine. So we will have to see what
- 1:19:55Speaker 27: the limit of maybe quarantine will be, or maybe the testings.
- 1:20:00Speaker 26: The Spanish Ministry of Health says Spain will host the
- 1:20:03Speaker 26: vessel in the Canary Islands. Cole Allen, the man accused
- 1:20:06Speaker 26: of rushing the Secret Service checkpoint at the White House Correspondents' Dinner,
- 1:20:10Speaker 26: has been indicted by a grand jury. One of the
- 1:20:12Speaker 26: charges is an attempt to assassinate the president. You're listening
- 1:20:15Speaker 26: to ABC News.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: All right, interesting guy. Last hour, NewsRadio 570. And Ron
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Ferb comments, 330-729-9977, I think is the phone number.
- 1:20:23Speaker 8: Yes, it is.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: You want to chime in? You got something you want
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: to run up the flagpole? See if anybody salutes. We'll
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: take on all comers till 7 tonight. Maybe a G2
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: appearance at 6 o'clock. Possibly. with some insight into what's
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: going on in our world. 330-729-9977. We'll get you through
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: to us. 330-729-9977. We'll get you through on NewsRadio 570.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: I think the main point of that last guy's caller,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: if you were listening last hour, was basically saying that,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: in his opinion, in the state of Ohio, we're letting
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: business get away with not paying enough in taxes and
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: shifting the burden to the individual homeowner through property taxes. basically,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: is what his assessment was. Business is getting too much
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: of a break, tax break in Ohio, and it's shifted
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: to the individual. And I get one of those criticisms,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: which is a fair criticism to make when he says
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: it's one of the problems with the repealed property taxes is, okay,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: if we repeal property taxes, that means we're Walmart's not
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: going to pay it, or Home Depot's not going to
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: pay it, or all these, you know, if you get
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: a data center, that big building wouldn't be paying property taxes.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: And that burden would be shifted to who? The individual.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: And I get what he's saying as far as that
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: is concerned. It's part of the reason why I like
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: the Moaning County Commissioners, Trumbull County Commissioners. They have the
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: ability to ease the burden for individual citizens. When I
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: talk so much about they have the ability to double
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: the homestead exemption for our poor senior citizens. Business, Walmart
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: and Home Depot, they don't get that. Or these rental
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: properties and all that kind of stuff, they don't get it.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Only property owners that are senior citizens would get the
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: doubling of the homestead exemption, which is income-based for poor
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: senior citizens. And only people that are owner-occupied would get
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: that doubling of that property tax portion, too. You have
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: to be owner-occupancy. So it's for individuals. It wouldn't apply
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: to any business, what have you, on property taxes. That's
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: a good thing. What Dave Thomas got passed to give
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: your commissioners the ability to give you that, but they
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: simply refuse to do it because they think government's better
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: off with your money than you are after that exorbitant increase.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: That's kind of interesting. All right, you're on the air.
- 1:23:13Speaker 15: Hello.
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: Hey, how you doing, Ron?
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: It's Bubba Ganoush.
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: That's a pretty good analysis you made.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Really? I thought the guy had some interesting points. I mean,
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: the guy's basically saying you can't shift all the taxes
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: away from business to the individuals.
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: Agreed.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: And there is justification to his argument that a lot
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: of that has taken place.
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: Well, that has to be resolved. Yeah, you voted. You
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: said you voted.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Yes, I did. And were you sitting down when I said,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: when I voted— On my ballot in Austintown, I voted
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: for the continuing of the quarter percent sales tax for
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Pat Giannetti and the roads. The guy's done more.
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: My road isn't paved.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: Not yet, but he's done a lot in the county
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: and the townships benefit from it. You don't even notice it.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: That's a sales tax. I voted. And are you ready
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: for this? There were two road tax renewals in my township,
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: which I also voted for. I did not vote against
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: any of the renewals on roads at all. I had
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: three tax issues on my ballot, all renewals, all for roads,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: and I voted to renew every single one of them.
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: And the money's going to go to the roads, right?
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:24:32Speaker 11: Okay, well.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: I just want my road down. They're doing a lot
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: of work down in Mill Creek with those wastewater pipes
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: I've been bitching about 50 years.
- 1:24:43Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: That's a different program. But if you look in the county,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: we've never had so many roads fixed and repaired as
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: you see what's going on under this county engineer. And
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: the townships have benefited from that quarter percent sales tax
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: because a lot of money goes in addition to what
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: they're their paving program is. I ask you this. Imagine
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: if we didn't have this situation going on with the
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: cost of a barrel of oil because asphalt's oil-based. If
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: you could get oil back down to a reasonable point,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: you'd be able to even pave even more road miles
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: than he's doing. I hope you're right, Bubba.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: A little patient, a little patient. Marco Rubio is now
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: our press secretary.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: I saw a clip of that.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: Isn't that great? This guy's something else. And he got
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: everybody laughing. And, you know, nobody badgered him. Nobody beat
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: him up. So that was good.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: That is good.
- 1:25:43Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: And I heard something about the boss lady. That's pretty interesting.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: Well, you know, I have to have. I've got to
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: get the personal attacks stopped because it's not right to
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: do something like that. I mean, stay focused on your thoughts.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I mean, people have a right to disagree on their
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: views of the issues. I don't have a problem with that,
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: but that's where we draw the line. How's that sound
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: to you?
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: Well, I always say, like with voting, vote early and
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: vote often, the Democratic way. That's what Democrats do.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Vote early and vote often.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Is that what you say?
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: No, no, that's a Democrat say. Vote early and vote often.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I see.
- 1:26:27Speaker 28: Yeah.
- 1:26:28Speaker 12: You never heard that before?
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: Yes, I have.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: There you go. There you go. Well, listen, the Indians
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: are struggling, but I still got faith in them. God,
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: I hope so.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: I really do. I mean, things looked very good at
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: the beginning of the season, but they're having some bumpy
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: roads now. But Dick from Dayton would tell you, how
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: about those Cavaliers?
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: Yeah, Cavs, the Cavs. My brother called me, actually. He's
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: not a sports guy. He goes, hey, you watching the game?
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: I said, no, I'm not. You know, and he was
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: pretty excited because his son is a big Cav man,
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:27:04Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: So, yeah, so, you know, Ron, I think things are
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: going to go okay.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: Well, I hope you're right. You're making me feel optimistic
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: when you say that kind of stuff.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: Well, that's because, you know.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: You're like a ray of hope. Sunshine around here. I
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: got sunshine on a cloudy day.
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: Remember, your future is so bright, you're going to need shades.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: And I said that since 16. I mean that.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: Well, I would like to see this come to a
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: conclusion and get back focused on America first and get
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: inflation under control and start focusing on why he was elected.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: And you got to get gas prices down. You got
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: to get inflation under control. And they're going in the
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: opposite direction right now.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: Right, but it'll come. It'll come. The thing is, we've
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: just got to have patience, and he'll be out of there.
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: But he's really putting the squeeze with Scott Besson on
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: the Iranians. So he's doing a good job there. Everybody
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: even says, you know. Even the Saudi Arabians loves it,
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: I would love to see it. Work out, let me
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: put it that way. I would love to see it
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: be successful.
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: Well, guess what?
- 1:28:23Speaker 10: It will.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: I mean, he's not going to go down unsuccessful. That
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: guy is a winner.
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: You know, he's not going to.
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: Go down, and people put him down constantly.
- 1:28:31Speaker 17: Remember all the good.
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: Things he's did. I don't want to list them, but
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: come on. Seriously.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:28:42Speaker 21: Right?
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Listen, if you think for a minute I would vote
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: for Sherrod Brown or vote for any Democrat, you would
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: have your head examined.
- 1:28:51Speaker 10: Could you imagine that?
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: The guy's running again after the mess he made.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Sherrod Brown backed everything Joe Biden supported. You think I
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: would vote for him?
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: Absolutely. And, you know, just like my one buddy said,
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: he goes, you vote for a Democrat, you're crazy. Just
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: like you said.
- 1:29:08Speaker 23: Right.
- 1:29:08Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: But you know what? It's going to be okay. I
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: think this result you're going to be surprised with. You're
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: going to be very surprised.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Well, this is a primary, so it really doesn't matter
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: too much, you know, until you get to the general election.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: I know that, but you're going to be surprised at
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: the results.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Why am I going to be surprised?
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: Because it's going to be a win. Yeah, for the conservatives.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it depends if you pulled a Republican
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: or Democrat ballot. I mean, it would depend. I mean,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: when I looked at mine, I mean, I voted for
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: Vivek or Vivek or Vivek or whatever you want to
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: call him. I'm for governor.
- 1:29:49Speaker 7: Oh, he was down at NBR.
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: I met him down there.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, I thought, okay, I'll go with him.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I mean, I think he's... I will vote for him
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: over Amy Acton any day of the week. I mean,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: it's so much. I mean, Amy Acton quit being your
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: state doctor because it got too, couldn't take the criticism
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff. And she threw the
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: towel in. Now she wants to be governor where you'd
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: get even more. I don't get it.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:30:17Speaker 11: I know.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: Well, listen, I got a call coming in.
- 1:30:19Speaker 19: Good.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Go get it.
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: And you have a good day.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: All right. Thank you. It's Bubba Ganoush. You're on the air.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Say again.
- 1:30:28Speaker 29: How you doing ron i i just want to comment
- 1:30:30Speaker 29: on the uh... previous caller before yes before public news uh...
- 1:30:35Speaker 29: he talked about property taxes you know to me a
- 1:30:38Speaker 29: democrat can't speak about property taxes when illegal immigrants you
- 1:30:43Speaker 29: know with the high demand uh... for housing you know
- 1:30:48Speaker 29: they drive up the property values enhance the property taxes
- 1:30:52Speaker 29: so to me i don't You know, when a Democrat
- 1:30:57Speaker 29: speaks about property taxes, they should just go in the
- 1:30:59Speaker 29: corner and just, you know, be quiet. But what do
- 1:31:02Speaker 29: you think of the most recent Democrat propaganda on Ramaswamy,
- 1:31:07Speaker 29: where they tried saying that, you know.
- 1:31:10Speaker 12: He was against Jesus as the Lord, even though Obama
- 1:31:15Speaker 12: was a Muslim? Have you seen any of those articles?
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: No.
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: No.
- 1:31:21Speaker 12: Those articles have been out everywhere.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: No, I'm totally not familiar with any of that. I
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: genuinely plead ignorance, which is an easy thing for me, incidentally,
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: to plead.
- 1:31:31Speaker 15: No, it's okay.
- 1:31:34Speaker 6: I'm just not sure.
- 1:31:35Speaker 30: They're trying to say, oh, Ramaswami, you know, they brought
- 1:31:40Speaker 30: up some kind of like previous speech that he made
- 1:31:42Speaker 30: where he was kind of like saying Jesus wasn't the
- 1:31:46Speaker 30: Lord somehow or another.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: But yet, you know, Obama, you know, he was a Muslim.
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: You know, what does that have to do with anything
- 1:31:55Speaker 6: to me?
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: Hey, what's your philosophy? What are you going to do
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: as governor? I like his philosophy way better than Amy Acton.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Amy Acton's a far-left progressive. And you can see what
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: happens with those far-left progressives in Virginia. You can see
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: in New York. I mean, what do they do? They
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: raise taxes on Joe Bagadonis and screw you.
- 1:32:18Speaker 15: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:20Speaker 12: All right, Ron, I just wanted to hear your thoughts
- 1:32:22Speaker 12: on that, and I appreciate all the patience you have
- 1:32:24Speaker 12: with some of these Democrats that call you on the phone.
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: You have a good day, sir.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: Thank you. You're on the air.
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: Well, there's one thing.
- 1:32:31Speaker 18: The Cavaliers, I'll be watching tonight, but I have good
- 1:32:35Speaker 18: news to tell them. I think it's going to be okay.
- 1:32:38Speaker 18: They'll get into it. It's early yet.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: It's early, but..
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: You're talking to Guardians.
- 1:32:44Speaker 18: Yeah, the Guardians are going to be okay. I think
- 1:32:46Speaker 18: they will, but they need to step it up a
- 1:32:48Speaker 18: little bit, you know?
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you think?
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say that they do. But I give
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: you credit because you would be calling me, it's Dick
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: from Dayton, the official sports prognosticator, and all I'm doing
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: is I'm focusing on the Guardians. And you're spouting the Cavs,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: and I'm not paying attention. I'm looking over here, you're
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: looking at the Cavs, and son of a gun, who's
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: marching on but the Cavaliers?
- 1:33:15Speaker 18: Yeah, yeah, but it's going to be tough, I think,
- 1:33:18Speaker 18: I tell you. You know, maybe the first two. I
- 1:33:21Speaker 18: don't know.
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: They're going to have to.
- 1:33:23Speaker 18: The way they played, but they said that it's going
- 1:33:25Speaker 18: to be tough on them. But some way they might
- 1:33:28Speaker 18: pull this off, you know. I've got a good feeling
- 1:33:30Speaker 18: about this, you know.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: I would like to see them. Well, look, so far
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: so good. But it gets harder as time goes on,
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: as you know.
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:39Speaker 18: Well, have a good day, buddy.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: There you go. It's Dick from Dayton. Sharing on those,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: on our Cavaliers. News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Verp, 330-729-9977.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: We'll get you through to us on News Radio 570 WKBN. Five,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: what is it? It's 520 in the afternoon. It's been
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: a wet, well, it's been an unusual day. It's been
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: a windy day. It depends where you are. In my
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: neck of the woods, a little bit of a shower
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: this morning. And then cool temperatures for the most part
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: that we're looking at here. Let me give you an update.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: I mean, we're down to 64 degrees. So hasn't this
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: been a strange April and May with all this rain
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: that we're getting, boys and girls? I mean, it's just
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: so damn saturated out there. The ground doesn't get a
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: chance to even remotely dry out. And that's not good
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: for farmers. That's not good to try to get your
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: grass cut or get anything done outside with how soggy
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: everything is. Because the amount of rain that we're getting,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: the frequency of rain, and maybe the lack of some
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: sunshine to dry this stuff out is creating all kinds
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: of havoc. And we're already, what, almost a week into
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: May already. And it's 64 degrees. I don't know. It's
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: been an unusually wet and chilly spring season. in the
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: great states of Ohio. And it's been an unusual year
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: as far as precipitation is concerned. But hopefully things will
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: get better as we get to April, May, what, into
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: June and July. Maybe we can have some sunny days
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: and go a week without having a bunch of rain.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Is it possible? Is it possible? Maybe so. We shall see. 522,
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: back with more. Call us on the line. Stand by.
- 1:35:25Speaker 13: Blacktown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: Well, Heidi Ho, News Radio 570 WKBN, and you're on
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: the air.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: Hello.
- 1:35:35Speaker 10: You know, Ron, I'm very frustrated with this war and
- 1:35:41Speaker 10: the $ 5- a- gallon gas and listening to Republicans complain about both.
- 1:35:47Speaker 10: I mean, my whole life, since I was 18 years old,
- 1:35:51Speaker 10: I had a job where I had to negotiate with people.
- 1:35:56Speaker 10: And I've been doing it my entire life. And Trump
- 1:35:59Speaker 10: is probably one of the best negotiators I've ever seen
- 1:36:04Speaker 10: or ever heard talk. And when you think about it,
- 1:36:08Speaker 10: you know, my wife, my kids, they're frustrated because he
- 1:36:13Speaker 10: says they want to make a deal, they want to
- 1:36:15Speaker 10: make a deal. But there's nobody coming to make a deal.
- 1:36:18Speaker 10: He does that because they're thinking to themselves, what is
- 1:36:25Speaker 10: he talking about? And we're saying, what is he talking about?
- 1:36:29Speaker 10: Only he knows what he's talking about. He keeps them
- 1:36:33Speaker 10: off guard. He doesn't say, you know, he doesn't say, well,
- 1:36:38Speaker 10: I'm talking to so-and-so. Like a good example, Biden was
- 1:36:43Speaker 10: supposed to talk to Putin, and Biden said he's a murderer,
- 1:36:47Speaker 10: he's a... You're not going to be a very good
- 1:36:52Speaker 10: negotiating step. You're just adding obstacles to your negotiations if
- 1:36:56Speaker 10: you go in there with that kind of attitude and
- 1:36:59Speaker 10: talk like that.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: You know, it's give and take.
- 1:37:03Speaker 10: I'm not frustrated because of Trump. I think I'm just
- 1:37:08Speaker 10: frustrated because he hasn't been aggressive enough to me. I
- 1:37:15Speaker 10: wouldn't take this crap from Iran that he's taken. I
- 1:37:18Speaker 10: wouldn't let them drag this out. They're notorious for that.
- 1:37:23Speaker 10: I would just, I wouldn't even tell them to negotiate, Trevor.
- 1:37:26Speaker 10: I'd just end it, go back to war, just finish
- 1:37:28Speaker 10: the job. Because the sooner he finishes the job, the better.
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: Off we're going to be.
- 1:37:34Speaker 10: And it just, I think of all the good stuff
- 1:37:37Speaker 10: the guy's done.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: And the Guinness in this war, they're saying, you know.
- 1:37:43Speaker 10: Netanyahu drug him into war.
- 1:37:44Speaker 12: I don't believe that.
- 1:37:45Speaker 10: I don't think he dragged Donald Trump anywhere. Trump knew something.
- 1:37:50Speaker 10: That John Lula knew something. And they made a move.
- 1:37:53Speaker 10: And now you have to live with that decision. And
- 1:37:57Speaker 10: to me, I don't care. The country wants to kill us.
- 1:38:02Speaker 10: I don't care if we kill them first. It doesn't
- 1:38:04Speaker 10: matter to me. I would rather, I would prefer that.
- 1:38:08Speaker 10: I feel bad for those people there. But our people
- 1:38:13Speaker 10: in America, if our government was oppressing us, like they're
- 1:38:18Speaker 10: oppressing them, we would stand up and we would fight.
- 1:38:21Speaker 7: They're not doing it.
- 1:38:23Speaker 10: I understand why. Government's got all the weapons. But you've
- 1:38:27Speaker 10: got to get creative and they've got to figure out
- 1:38:28Speaker 10: a way. to fight for themselves. If they don't, in
- 1:38:33Speaker 10: all honesty, they're better off if we wipe them off
- 1:38:36Speaker 10: the face of the earth. Because the afterlife, I'm sure,
- 1:38:39Speaker 10: will be better than what they're living right now.
- 1:38:43Speaker 15: Really?
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: Are you certain of that?
- 1:38:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:38:46Speaker 14: I'm absolutely certain.
- 1:38:52Speaker 10: I drive 1,000 miles a week. I pay for 98%
- 1:38:56Speaker 10: of my gas. The way my pay plan was set up,
- 1:39:01Speaker 10: gas was no big deal when they hired me. So
- 1:39:04Speaker 10: I pay for 98% of the gas driving 1,000 miles
- 1:39:07Speaker 10: a week. And I can deal with it. I can
- 1:39:10Speaker 10: deal with the gas prices. I don't like it. I
- 1:39:14Speaker 10: get frustrated every time.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: I go get gas.
- 1:39:16Speaker 10: But You know, they hate Trump. They didn't hate him
- 1:39:20Speaker 10: so much. You know, they talk about the war powers. Obama,
- 1:39:23Speaker 10: how long did he bomb? There was no war powers.
- 1:39:25Speaker 10: No talk about that. Clinton bombed people. No talk about
- 1:39:29Speaker 10: war powers.
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: But just these moronic.
- 1:39:33Speaker 10: Criminal Democrats that are nothing but politics. Their entire life
- 1:39:38Speaker 10: was politics. I think some of them would sacrifice their kids'
- 1:39:42Speaker 10: lives if they could win an election. I think that
- 1:39:45Speaker 10: winning the election is more important to them than half
- 1:39:48Speaker 10: of their kids' lives. Because of some of the criminal
- 1:39:51Speaker 10: things they do, the beliefs they have, wrapping their arms
- 1:39:55Speaker 10: around communism. I mean, these people are nuts.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Stand by for a minute. I want to come back
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: with Nick. It's good to hear his voice back in
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: a minute. News Radio 570, WKVN. All right, so where
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: was Nicholas?
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: Nick?
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: That's not me. All right, hang on. Nick? I think
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: I lost him.
- 1:40:15Speaker 10: That's me.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: All right. So you're not looking at any of this
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: situation going on in Iran negatively. You're giving it all
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: the thumbs up.
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: I mean, we're Americans.
- 1:40:31Speaker 10: You're supposed to be loyal to your country. You're supposed
- 1:40:34Speaker 10: to be loyal to your president. Because you have Trump's
- 1:40:37Speaker 10: arrangement system, it just can't be. I mean, I look
- 1:40:41Speaker 10: at it. I have two sons, and I have two grandkids.
- 1:40:45Speaker 10: And I don't want them to have to live in
- 1:40:47Speaker 10: a world where these religious Nazis, like these Iranians, can
- 1:40:52Speaker 10: get a nuclear bomb and destroy them someday. It would
- 1:40:56Speaker 10: be a horrible way to die. And that's what they're
- 1:40:59Speaker 10: going to do. Based on us going in there and
- 1:41:03Speaker 10: bombing the hell up like we did, they will always
- 1:41:06Speaker 10: remember that. And once they have the ability, they will
- 1:41:10Speaker 10: attack us. There's no doubt in my mind. You have
- 1:41:14Speaker 10: to end them. You just have to do it. I
- 1:41:17Speaker 10: don't even care how you do it, but you have
- 1:41:20Speaker 10: to do it. You know, what happens if we let
- 1:41:24Speaker 10: them off the hook and we get another Joe Biden
- 1:41:27Speaker 10: in the next election or two elections and they start
- 1:41:31Speaker 10: building it and they do nothing about it? They're going
- 1:41:34Speaker 10: to remember. These people have memories like elephants. They're going
- 1:41:37Speaker 10: to remember forever. And they're going to want revenge, and
- 1:41:41Speaker 10: they're going to bomb this country. I don't think they're
- 1:41:44Speaker 10: going to bomb this country when I'm alive, or my wife,
- 1:41:46Speaker 10: but I think they're going to bomb this country when
- 1:41:48Speaker 10: my grandkids are alive, and possibly my kids. We just
- 1:41:53Speaker 10: have to put an end to them. And if you
- 1:41:55Speaker 10: hate Trump, I don't care if you hate Trump. Trump probably,
- 1:41:58Speaker 10: the truth known, Trump probably hates you. But he's sacrificing
- 1:42:03Speaker 10: the best part of his life to provide for this country,
- 1:42:06Speaker 10: to protect this country, and to make up for all
- 1:42:09Speaker 10: the screw-ups that the Democrats have done. Not only in
- 1:42:13Speaker 10: the presidency, but in Congress, in the Senate, the inflation,
- 1:42:17Speaker 10: everything that they've screwed up. He's fighting for you. And
- 1:42:21Speaker 10: you've got to support this guy. I know he's doing
- 1:42:25Speaker 10: the right thing because there's so many people that are
- 1:42:28Speaker 10: corrupt in the Democratic Party that want to see him dead.
- 1:42:33Speaker 10: That's how I know he's doing the right thing. They
- 1:42:36Speaker 10: try to kill him on a weekly basis. And That's
- 1:42:40Speaker 10: because he's getting their wallets, he's stopping some of the
- 1:42:44Speaker 10: ways that they're making his money illegal. Look at these Somalians.
- 1:42:47Speaker 10: Look at Minnesota. Billions of dollars.
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: We're talking about..
- 1:42:51Speaker 10: I know you talk about it a lot, and I
- 1:42:53Speaker 10: agree with you. We're worried about the national debt. $ 34 trillion,
- 1:42:57Speaker 10: $ 35 trillion. Stop the criminal fraud, and you could probably
- 1:43:02Speaker 10: pay the debt off. Right. There's just so much corruption.
- 1:43:07Speaker 10: You have to stop corruption.
- 1:43:08Speaker 16: And..
- 1:43:09Speaker 10: You know, these psychopath Democrats, and you've got some of
- 1:43:13Speaker 10: them that call your show, they don't have a brain
- 1:43:16Speaker 10: that they use for their own. They listen to other
- 1:43:20Speaker 10: people that hate Trump preach to them and tell you
- 1:43:25Speaker 10: what a bad guy Trump is. If you would use
- 1:43:27Speaker 10: your own head and just look logically what he's doing
- 1:43:31Speaker 10: different than anybody else who's ever been president. the way
- 1:43:35Speaker 10: we were treated around the rest of the world, the
- 1:43:37Speaker 10: way we were respected around the rest of the world,
- 1:43:39Speaker 10: that we weren't. Obama goes overseas and he bows down
- 1:43:42Speaker 10: to them. Trump goes over there and pushes.
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: Them out of the way, and then he bows down
- 1:43:46Speaker 7: to him.
- 1:43:47Speaker 10: It's a huge difference. Not just the optics, but the reality. So,
- 1:43:52Speaker 10: I mean, it's just very frustrating to me. They don't
- 1:43:56Speaker 10: back this guy. They want to kill this guy. He's
- 1:43:58Speaker 10: the right guy at the right time. And I believe,
- 1:44:02Speaker 10: as sure as I'm talking to you, That shot in
- 1:44:06Speaker 10: Butler didn't miss him so he could just be a
- 1:44:09Speaker 10: regular president. That shot that missed him in Butler missed
- 1:44:13Speaker 10: him because he's really going.
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: To do something special.
- 1:44:16Speaker 10: But you've got to give the guy a chance.
- 1:44:18Speaker 15: And in my opinion, you know.
- 1:44:20Speaker 10: He does this one thing that's questionable to war. And
- 1:44:23Speaker 10: I'm not a war monitor. I wasn't in the military.
- 1:44:26Speaker 10: But he does this one thing that's questionable, and everybody
- 1:44:29Speaker 10: seems like they're turning on him. Oh, my God, we're
- 1:44:31Speaker 10: worried about the midterms. We're worried about the price of gas.
- 1:44:36Speaker 10: I'll pay the gas prices for six more months because
- 1:44:39Speaker 10: I don't believe you can put a time frame on
- 1:44:42Speaker 10: a war. So I'm willing to pay these inflated prices,
- 1:44:46Speaker 10: even if they go up higher, for six months to
- 1:44:49Speaker 10: ensure my kids and grandkids.
- 1:44:52Speaker 31: Don't get nuked.
- 1:44:54Speaker 6: I would be willing to do that.
- 1:44:56Speaker 10: That's a very, to me, a very small price to
- 1:44:59Speaker 10: pay for the peace of mind and not knowing these
- 1:45:02Speaker 10: religious Nazis have a nuke or the ability to use
- 1:45:05Speaker 10: a nuke. And I mean, the reality is, but the
- 1:45:10Speaker 10: only place I disagree with Trump is on the dust,
- 1:45:14Speaker 10: the jugular dust. He's making that a big deal when
- 1:45:17Speaker 10: we get that back. We can monitor that. We can
- 1:45:20Speaker 10: watch that. You know, Russia can sell them a nuke.
- 1:45:24Speaker 10: China could sell them a nuke. North Korea could sell
- 1:45:27Speaker 10: them a nuke. They could eventually get their hands on
- 1:45:29Speaker 10: a nuke, even without any technology of how to do it.
- 1:45:34Speaker 10: So don't stop the negotiations or stop the attacks over
- 1:45:38Speaker 10: the dust. You know, just wipe them out. Just wipe
- 1:45:42Speaker 10: them out.
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:45:46Speaker 10: Maybe leave them some dust when we're done, if you
- 1:45:48Speaker 10: absolutely have to. If you absolutely have to, leave them
- 1:45:51Speaker 10: some of our dust. So I've had it.
- 1:45:55Speaker 17: I've had it.
- 1:45:58Speaker 10: This guy does more at 80-some years old.
- 1:46:03Speaker 8: In an hour than Biden did in a week. And
- 1:46:07Speaker 8: if these Democrats, with their hatred and their criminality, if
- 1:46:12Speaker 8: they can't see that and admit as a person, you know,
- 1:46:15Speaker 8: this guy does.
- 1:46:16Speaker 10: He really works his butt off. They can't admit that.
- 1:46:20Speaker 10: They're sick. They're, you know... I'd spend the time with
- 1:46:23Speaker 10: the Civil War here. I don't care. That's how concerned
- 1:46:27Speaker 10: I am with these corrupt Democrats and the socialists and
- 1:46:30Speaker 10: the communists that are trying to overtake our country. And
- 1:46:35Speaker 10: the Democrats aren't one bit upset about it.
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: They're opening their arms.
- 1:46:37Speaker 10: They're embracing this idiot in New York, Fondani.
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: He said, hey, we're broke. We need more money.
- 1:46:42Speaker 10: Well, you haven't done what you said you were going
- 1:46:44Speaker 10: to do when you're broke. I mean, I just don't know.
- 1:46:48Speaker 10: Believe me, I'm not one of your smartest callers. But
- 1:46:52Speaker 10: I don't know how anybody could be dumb enough to
- 1:46:54Speaker 10: vote for a comment. I have no idea how they
- 1:46:57Speaker 10: could even wrap their head around that.
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: And try it.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: So do you foresee yourself voting for Sherrod Brown in
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: the general?
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: Maybe when hell freezes over.
- 1:47:09Speaker 10: I wouldn't vote for Sherrod. Sherrod Brown, what could Sherrod
- 1:47:12Speaker 10: Brown do?
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: He backed everything Joe Biden did.
- 1:47:14Speaker 10: He did what Obama wanted. Sherrod Brown did it. I
- 1:47:19Speaker 10: have a buddy for the car business. He's passed away now.
- 1:47:22Speaker 10: But his family's good friends with Sherrod Brown. I can
- 1:47:24Speaker 10: remember him 20 years ago telling me, my great guy,
- 1:47:27Speaker 10: Sherrod Brown. Sherrod Brown hasn't done a damn thing. Nothing.
- 1:47:31Speaker 10: Except get us in trouble, agree with Biden, and create inflation.
- 1:47:36Speaker 10: That's all they know how to do. They know how
- 1:47:38Speaker 10: to tax you. They know how to collect money. They
- 1:47:40Speaker 10: know how to pass it out to people that benefits
- 1:47:43Speaker 10: them to pass it out to. And then they just
- 1:47:45Speaker 10: rinse and repeat.
- 1:47:46Speaker 7: They do it again.
- 1:47:48Speaker 10: I mean, you don't need the Democrats.
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: You really don't.
- 1:47:51Speaker 10: They're just, they're, they're mentally ill. So when Trump said
- 1:47:54Speaker 10: they're mentally ill, he was absolutely right. And I don't
- 1:47:57Speaker 10: care if you're a really nice person and you go
- 1:47:59Speaker 10: to mass every week.
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: If you vote Democrat, you're an idiot.
- 1:48:04Speaker 10: You're an absolute idiot. If you can't see the difference,
- 1:48:07Speaker 10: there's something wrong with you. Because it's right there, plain
- 1:48:10Speaker 10: as day. Hey, I'm not saying all Republicans are saints.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: I hate the rhinos.
- 1:48:16Speaker 10: I don't like our governor. He's a rhino. I'm not
- 1:48:19Speaker 10: crazy about whom in the Senate.
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: I don't like him.
- 1:48:22Speaker 10: He's a rhino. But if you're going to get effective
- 1:48:26Speaker 10: financially in a bad way, the chances are that's going
- 1:48:31Speaker 10: to happen under the Democrats and not the Republicans. So
- 1:48:35Speaker 10: I'll stick with the Republicans.
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: There you go. All right. Enjoyed every bit of it, Nick.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: Thank you. Appreciate it.
- 1:48:41Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: There he is, man. Words of wisdom from a life
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: of experience. And good old Nick, you're on here.
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: Hey, Warren.
- 1:48:50Speaker 10: How are you?
- 1:48:51Speaker 9: Good.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: Hi, Mike.
- 1:48:53Speaker 6: I hope everything worked its way out yesterday after, you know,
- 1:48:58Speaker 6: the Ted and Nick, not Ted and Nick, but Rich.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: It all works out. It's all going to work out.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: It's all going to work out.
- 1:49:09Speaker 12: All right.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Comments, please.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: I just want to go back to your caller. I
- 1:49:13Speaker 6: think right around five o'clock it was talking about the,
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: you know, businesses paying taxes and all that other stuff.
- 1:49:19Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:49:20Speaker 6: I think that was around five. Let me, let me
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: ask you a question. So, cause you, cause you're a
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: business owner and you, you said you, uh, stroked a
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: lot of checks out to the government. How do you
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: get that money to write it, to write a tax, uh, Right.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: I mean, a business has to do– they make it
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: difficult for business anymore in a lot of cases to function.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I don't totally disagree with that guy
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: in a sense of what he is saying is you
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: can't take all the taxes away from business. Like, for example,
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: I thought– Just when he was making a point, if
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: you eliminate property taxes, now if Walmart or Home Depot
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: aren't paying property taxes, are you going to shift all
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: that burden to the individual? And that is a fair
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: point to make, to say we're going to let them
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: off the hook and they're not going to pay that.
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:50:17Speaker 6: Can I stop you real quick?
- 1:50:18Speaker 11: Sure.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:50:20Speaker 6: Where does the money come from that they pay that?
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: Isn't the individual already paying the freight?
- 1:50:25Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: Well, you can make that argument, but needless to say,
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: it never seems like it washes out that way, that
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: your prices go dramatically down because we eliminate that. I mean,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: you would like to think, oh, the prices have come
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: down because they don't have to pay that burden, but
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like it works out that way, and
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: you just get more taxes put on you. I think
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: his point is legitimate, because on paper it looks good.
- 1:50:53Speaker 6: Yes, on paper, but in all reality... you know, we
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: as consumers pay 100% of the tax bill of a corporation. So,
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: you know, I'm just trying to think of how we
- 1:51:10Speaker 6: can streamline this and cut out the middleman, which would
- 1:51:12Speaker 6: be the, you know, the company. Just put the entire
- 1:51:19Speaker 6: burden where the consumer or slash taxpayer..
- 1:51:26Speaker 19: Ease it.
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: Well, his argument, and there's a certain amount of justification
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: to it. He's saying that the state of Ohio has
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: cut business tax so dramatically, and like I said on paper,
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: you're not getting a savings from that. Well, we don't
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: know that. Right, and it's been shifted to the individual dramatically,
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: and there is truth to that.
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: But if your taxes, if you could run on, I'm
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: not going to charge, I'm not going to have any
- 1:51:58Speaker 6: of you people pay taxes. It's just going to be
- 1:52:00Speaker 6: all on corporations. Well, you know, I can see a
- 1:52:05Speaker 6: lot of people voting for that, but not knowing what
- 1:52:10Speaker 6: their tax bill truly is. And that's a big problem
- 1:52:14Speaker 6: in this country, because we've got all these programs that
- 1:52:17Speaker 6: need to be funded. Most of them people would not
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: fund if they had to write it directly out of
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: their pocket.
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: Well, I would agree with that, with the exception of
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: the people that... You've got so many people that are
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: on the dole that vote in their best interest because
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: they're not paying it, they're benefiting from it.
- 1:52:43Speaker 17: Sure.
- 1:52:45Speaker 6: So just put it on the individual.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: You look at New York or Virginia, and what are
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: these trying to do? They want to take from productive
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: people and shift it to non-productive people. How long are
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: you supposed to do that? How much more can you take?
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: At what point do you say to a non-productive person,
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: get off your arse and go do something? Where is
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: personal responsibility?
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: The incentive to stay there on the couch.
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:53:23Speaker 14: Right?
- 1:53:23Speaker 6: I mean, that's the bottom line. But in the end,
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: when they come out and they go, corporations, they don't
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: pay any taxes. We're going to jack up the corporate rate.
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: Now you've got this. I would like to take... all
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: of these weapons that are elected officials use to bludgeon
- 1:53:46Speaker 6: us and separate us, you know, in the, in the different, uh, groups,
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: because as, as we've been separated, it's a lot easier
- 1:53:55Speaker 6: to be picked off. And right now the productive, they're
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: getting picked off the nonproductive.
- 1:54:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:54:04Speaker 6: You know, they just raised their, you know, um, We'll
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: give them some more food stamps or whatever SNAP benefits,
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: whatever it is these days.
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: I don't have a clue.
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: But we'll make sure that the corporations, that these people
- 1:54:20Speaker 6: think that the corporations are paying for it. So it
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: doesn't compute. In the end, the taxes only come out
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: of the productive pocket, not the... You know, I don't
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: want to say, well, I will say the freeloader, okay,
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: because that's white collar as well. Only the productive, that's
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: the only place to get any kind of tax revenue. Now,
- 1:54:51Speaker 6: I don't want to go crazy on this, but, and
- 1:54:57Speaker 6: I'm sick and tired of, you know, people thinking that
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: they need, that everybody needs to have blind allegiance to Trump. Sure,
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: I'm satisfied that Trump's our president, but I want a
- 1:55:08Speaker 6: whole lot more. And, you know, I'm not worried about
- 1:55:11Speaker 6: so much a nuclear weapon right away, but the tyranny
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: that these globalists want to put on us, that scares
- 1:55:23Speaker 6: me way more than, you know, some Iranian with a
- 1:55:29Speaker 6: button for the nuclear button on his desk.
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: All right, so it's different priorities.
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 1:55:41Speaker 6: I mean, it really is. I mean, we've got 182
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: days now until the midterms. Okay, it's going to be
- 1:55:48Speaker 6: a bloodbath if we don't get the economy. And I
- 1:55:55Speaker 6: don't mean just this inflationary pressure from this war. Okay,
- 1:56:01Speaker 6: if we don't get that taken care of. And also
- 1:56:05Speaker 6: the SAVE Act. Those need to be, the SAVE Act
- 1:56:14Speaker 6: really needs to be taken care of right away.
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and Trump says you've got to get rid of
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: the filibuster for whatever reason to be able to get
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: it done.
- 1:56:24Speaker 6: I've been on the fence on that, but you know what?
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: He claims the Democrats would do it, so you might
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: as well.
- 1:56:30Speaker 6: I tend to agree with him. And, you know, the
- 1:56:33Speaker 6: other thing is when Trump's negotiating, what's he negotiating with?
- 1:56:38Speaker 6: probably some of your freedoms or your tax dollars. So
- 1:56:41Speaker 6: remember that, you know, when we're, um, you know, you
- 1:56:48Speaker 6: can't criticize, uh, president Trump. He's not dead as of recently.
- 1:56:54Speaker 6: He hasn't been, and maybe G2 will touch on this.
- 1:56:57Speaker 6: If that's the road you guys want to go down. But, uh,
- 1:57:00Speaker 6: as far as, you know, the privacy and, uh, you know, this,
- 1:57:04Speaker 6: this kill switch on these cars, um, You know, that's
- 1:57:10Speaker 6: a dangerous road to go down.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: All right, Ron. All right. Well, I'll let you go.
- 1:57:16Speaker 6: You can get a few other callers, and hopefully we
- 1:57:18Speaker 6: get a G2 appearance.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: I'm hoping. At 6, I thank you. NewsRadio 570, WKBN.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 1:57:24Speaker 6: How's it going, Ron? Good.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:57:29Speaker 12: I just wanted to mention about the previous caller here.
- 1:57:33Speaker 12: When we look at Obama and the countries without congressional
- 1:57:38Speaker 12: approval that were bombed, the Democrats are constantly saying, Trump
- 1:57:48Speaker 12: is bombing Iran without congressional approval. I want to say something.
- 1:57:54Speaker 12: I come from a long line of military... Family, my grandfather,
- 1:58:00Speaker 12: my great-grandfather, all the way back, World War II to now,
- 1:58:04Speaker 12: all the way back to Civil War. And, you know,
- 1:58:08Speaker 12: I can name seven countries.
- 1:58:10Speaker 4: Right now that Obama bombed.
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: Well, sit tight for a minute. Just sit tight. I'll
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: come right back to you. After the break at 5.52,
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: Ron Verb, NewsRadio 570, WKBN. NewsRadio 570, WKBN. All right,
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570, WKBN. You're on the air. I think it
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: punched out order. J.J. has made a return appearance. Yes, J.J.,
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: the liberal.
- 1:58:34Speaker 16: How are you doing? What's going on today?
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: I am well, sir. Thank you.
- 1:58:39Speaker 10: Good.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: Your assessment of the wild, wacky world.
- 1:58:43Speaker 16: Well, yeah. I just briefly heard earlier today, first of all,
- 1:58:48Speaker 16: that guy that is getting his heart looked at. I
- 1:58:52Speaker 16: want to send him... Some good thoughts, and I hope
- 1:58:55Speaker 16: he does well with his exploratory. And the gentleman, the
- 1:59:00Speaker 16: first gentleman that called in, I like that he defended...
- 1:59:05Speaker 16: boss lady. And again, we'll leave it at that. I
- 1:59:09Speaker 16: don't want to dwell on it today. So I hope,
- 1:59:12Speaker 16: and again, yesterday, I maybe should apologize to Ted because
- 1:59:17Speaker 16: it was maybe not my place to really say anything
- 1:59:19Speaker 16: like that, but I expected more from him. So if anything,
- 1:59:23Speaker 16: I hope he can take it as a positive that
- 1:59:28Speaker 16: I was pretty hard on him.
- 1:59:30Speaker 19: Right.
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: Well, Ted's a good man. Ted's a good man. I
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: enjoy talking to him. I enjoy his perspective on things.
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: He brings a lot to the program. So and I
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: think some of the points that have been made are
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: some good constructive criticism that I'm going to invoke.
- 1:59:47Speaker 11: Sure.
- 1:59:48Speaker 16: And you defend everybody as long as they can be defended.
- 1:59:52Speaker 16: And on both sides. And again, that's why I like
- 1:59:55Speaker 16: you so much. You're a pretty honest guy.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: Well, you can disagree with somebody's thoughts or opinions, but
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: attacking them on a personal level, that's unacceptable. The only
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: person that can attack on a personal level is me. Right?
- 2:00:11Speaker 16: You know, you keep us all grounded.
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: That's right.
- 2:00:16Speaker 16: Thank God there's people.
- 2:00:17Speaker 4: Thank God there's you in our lives.
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: I keep you centered. And like I say to all
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: of them, I'm sorry you might not say it. I
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: said nobody's taking more guff than Fort Lauderdale, Frank, and J.J.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: the Liberal.
- 2:00:28Speaker 4: Period.
- 2:00:29Speaker 31: End of story.
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: These guys don't deserve.
- 2:00:31Speaker 16: Thanks, maybe not so much, but half of mine are deserved.
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: All right, J.J., got to go.
- 2:00:40Speaker 20: From ABC News, I'm Chuck Sievertson. Another effort to try
- 2:00:44Speaker 20: to free up Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz,
- 2:00:47Speaker 20: which analysts say is making oil and gasoline.
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: Prices go up. The U.S.
- 2:00:51Speaker 20: Will forward a new draft resolution before the U.N. Security
- 2:00:54Speaker 20: Council to mandate no sea mines, no tolls, no restrictions
- 2:00:58Speaker 20: by Iran in the Strait, says Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
- 2:01:01Speaker 24: This is what Iran is saying. We will shut down
- 2:01:03Speaker 24: the straits. No one can go through, no country in
- 2:01:05Speaker 24: the world can go through unless we allow you to
- 2:01:07Speaker 24: go through and you have to pay us. But our
- 2:01:09Speaker 24: ships can go through, meaning the Iranian ships, as much
- 2:01:12Speaker 24: as they want.
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: That's crazy. Who would agree to that?
- 2:01:14Speaker 7: U.S.
- 2:01:14Speaker 20: Military, under what officials call Project Freedom, is offering to
- 2:01:18Speaker 20: protect commercial ships through the strait. ABC's Tom Sufi-Burridge in
- 2:01:22Speaker 20: Tel Aviv.
- 2:01:22Speaker 32: The question is, will those shipping companies, will the crews
- 2:01:25Speaker 32: on board feel more comfortable?
- 2:01:26Speaker 4: Confident enough, given the exchange of fire yesterday, in the
- 2:01:29Speaker 4: coming days to make that trip.
- 2:01:31Speaker 33: Oil has moved on these big tankers, and those tankers
- 2:01:33Speaker 33: are run by companies. And companies are worried that if
- 2:01:36Speaker 33: they cross the strait right now, they could get attacked.
- 2:01:39Speaker 33: It is just too big of a risk for them.
- 2:01:40Speaker 33: Right now, they do not have much assurance.
- 2:01:42Speaker 15: And until they.
- 2:01:43Speaker 33: Really feel comfortable, we're not going to see that oil
- 2:01:45Speaker 33: start moving really, it seems, at the pace that it
- 2:01:47Speaker 33: was anywhere close to before the start of this war.
- 2:01:49Speaker 20: ABC's Elizabeth Schulze. An update on the shooting incident between
- 2:01:53Speaker 20: a man and the Secret Service near the White House yesterday.
- 2:01:56Speaker 4: The U.S.
- 2:01:56Speaker 32: Attorney for D.C. says the suspect, who was believed to
- 2:01:59Speaker 32: be carrying a handgun, was approached by uniformed Secret Service police.
- 2:02:03Speaker 23: He starts running, and as he's running, he pulls a
- 2:02:06Speaker 23: gun and starts shooting at the Secret Service. They return fire.
- 2:02:10Speaker 32: Jeanine Pirro tells ABC News the injured suspect, 45-year-old Michael Marks,
- 2:02:14Speaker 32: said this to investigators on his way to the hospital.
- 2:02:17Speaker 23: F the White House. and kill me, kill me, kill
- 2:02:22Speaker 23: me three times.
- 2:02:23Speaker 32: The incident happened near the Washington Monument within view of
- 2:02:26Speaker 32: the White House. Stephen Portnoy, ABC News, Washington.
- 2:02:30Speaker 20: Sources say that Michael Marks has a Texas driver's license.
- 2:02:34Speaker 20: You're listening to ABC News.
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: Well, it's 6.05, NewsRadio 570. Rain in my neck of
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: the woods coming tonight where they say we could have
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: half an inch rain. or more of additional rain tonight,
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: which is exactly what we don't need. Incidentally, with all
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: this rain that we've been having, and boy, April was
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: just such a wet month, and May as well, everything
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: is so saturated. The ground is so saturated. Just not
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: getting a chance to dry out as we are now
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: into the first week of May behind us. Chilly out there,
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: 64 degrees, but half inch or more rain coming tonight
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: to saturate the ground even more. News Radio 570, WKBN
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: and Ron Furb. G2, finally, finally, finally.
- 2:03:23Speaker 4: Hello.
- 2:03:24Speaker 2: Good evening, Ron.
- 2:03:25Speaker 4: How are you?
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: I am well. So much to talk about, so much
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: to cover. Let me back up and you can take
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: it from here. I mean, I know initially when this
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: situation in Iran started, I mean, there was a debate
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: going on whether or not we should get involved from
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: the very beginning. And a lot of schools have thought
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: whether or not the involvement was really orchestrated by Israel
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: to get us involved in this and in their best
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: interest as opposed to America's best interest. And that debate
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: certainly is worth revisiting or having when this passes, if
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: you will. But I don't know if it's worth covering
- 2:04:06Speaker 1: again or not, because the situation is it's here and
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: it's happening. And it really doesn't matter. I mean, it's
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: kind of like rehashing old news, right? I mean, because
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: what difference does it make to quote Hillary Clinton? We're
- 2:04:21Speaker 1: involved in a situation right now.
- 2:04:24Speaker 10: And..
- 2:04:26Speaker 1: Thoughts about it?
- 2:04:28Speaker 4: Well, I mean, look, it should be clear, and it
- 2:04:30Speaker 4: shouldn't take a lot of time to figure out how
- 2:04:32Speaker 4: we got in this war. As soon as this war
- 2:04:35Speaker 4: was ramping up, several members of the administration came out
- 2:04:39Speaker 4: and said that Israel was going to attack Iran, and
- 2:04:42Speaker 4: they were concerned that Iran would then attack U.S. forces
- 2:04:45Speaker 4: in the east, so we were forced to go in
- 2:04:47Speaker 4: alongside it. Rubio said it, others said it. So we
- 2:04:50Speaker 4: know that we didn't go in because of some threat
- 2:04:53Speaker 4: of an imminent nuclear attack or or these other narratives
- 2:04:56Speaker 4: that came out later. We went in because Israel said so.
- 2:04:59Speaker 4: And they said so, I'm guessing, at that point, because
- 2:05:01Speaker 4: they're concerned about Trump losing leverage in the midterms. So
- 2:05:04Speaker 4: they wanted to get this war well underway before the midterms,
- 2:05:08Speaker 4: when they'd have to negotiate with the Democrats, and God
- 2:05:10Speaker 4: knows what they'd have to offer them to start this war.
- 2:05:13Speaker 4: So that's undoubtedly why we went in. But to your point,
- 2:05:18Speaker 4: we're in. Now, we've said it a bunch of times,
- 2:05:21Speaker 4: it's worth saying again, the military execution of this war
- 2:05:23Speaker 4: has been tremendous. 13,000 U.S. attacks on targets within Iran,
- 2:05:28Speaker 4: devastating their air cover, their anti-aircraft defense, their Air Force,
- 2:05:32Speaker 4: their Navy. I mean, really devastating those. And we could
- 2:05:36Speaker 4: see some of the evidence of that this week as
- 2:05:38Speaker 4: Iran launched these six little ships or boats out into
- 2:05:41Speaker 4: the strait, which the U.S. Navy took out. So, you know,
- 2:05:44Speaker 4: they really can't mount the kind of attacks they were
- 2:05:48Speaker 4: able to at the beginning. And they've lashed out at
- 2:05:50Speaker 4: the neighboring countries. And it's clear that they still have
- 2:05:53Speaker 4: some missile inventory and a lot of drone inventory. Having
- 2:05:57Speaker 4: the inventory and using it is a different thing. The
- 2:06:00Speaker 4: most important thing to keep in mind, which I think
- 2:06:02Speaker 4: is what's in the front of Trump's mind, is that
- 2:06:05Speaker 4: their ground forces are virtually intact. Of course, they've had
- 2:06:09Speaker 4: casualties along these as these air raids have happened, but
- 2:06:13Speaker 4: their ground forces are not eroded. So with no degradation
- 2:06:16Speaker 4: of ground forces, the idea of going in and actually
- 2:06:19Speaker 4: launching a ground assault would be would be devastating to
- 2:06:22Speaker 4: all of that stuff that we've said over the last
- 2:06:24Speaker 4: two months still holds and so we are here and
- 2:06:29Speaker 4: now it's time to execute and uh... of course iran
- 2:06:33Speaker 4: has two major things they want to focus on they
- 2:06:35Speaker 4: want to maintain control of the street or moves because
- 2:06:37Speaker 4: while they no longer control twenty or so percent twenty
- 2:06:40Speaker 4: one million barrels a day of oil because saudis found
- 2:06:45Speaker 4: other ways out uae shipping out below the strait uh...
- 2:06:48Speaker 4: through pipelines you know they've they've lost some of that
- 2:06:50Speaker 4: leverage but they still have tremendous leverage because in a
- 2:06:53Speaker 4: market of of a hundred and five million if you
- 2:06:56Speaker 4: can stop eight million barrels a day for moving you
- 2:06:58Speaker 4: have tremendous leverage remember in a commodity it's that incremental
- 2:07:02Speaker 4: volume that sets price is that the price paid for
- 2:07:06Speaker 4: that last bit uh... that you know to get it
- 2:07:10Speaker 4: delivered to get a redirected and and now in order
- 2:07:13Speaker 4: to get oil in a certain areas you're gonna have
- 2:07:15Speaker 4: to pay a premium Because you've got to divert it
- 2:07:18Speaker 4: from historic and natural flows to replace maybe a million
- 2:07:22Speaker 4: barrels you're missing or two million or whatnot, right? So
- 2:07:25Speaker 4: this disruption of the oil market is a big deal.
- 2:07:29Speaker 4: The fact that the U.S. is producing 13 million barrels
- 2:07:32Speaker 4: a day is just astonishing and is a major offset.
- 2:07:35Speaker 4: So it's, you know, the U.S., Saudi, and the UAE
- 2:07:37Speaker 4: have really done a lot to offset this. I'm sure
- 2:07:39Speaker 4: there's going to be additional production coming from elsewhere to
- 2:07:43Speaker 4: begin to erode that little number. And the breakdown... Thinking
- 2:07:48Speaker 4: about long-term benefits of this war, there will be some.
- 2:07:51Speaker 4: The breakdown of OPEC, that could be a really significant
- 2:07:55Speaker 4: improvement because OPEC is, as you know, controlled production levels.
- 2:08:00Speaker 4: to maintain oil and gas prices. Seems like that's going
- 2:08:04Speaker 4: by the wayside of Saudi and others that can get
- 2:08:06Speaker 4: to market are saying, hey, we're going to pump all
- 2:08:08Speaker 4: we can pump. Having Iran no longer able to fund
- 2:08:11Speaker 4: Hezbollah and Hamas, having them no longer control the straight,
- 2:08:15Speaker 4: no longer hold a stranglehold on the world, that would
- 2:08:18Speaker 4: be a great achievement. having them stop from additional threats
- 2:08:23Speaker 4: of terrorism would be great eliminating china's ability to buy
- 2:08:28Speaker 4: oil well below market first venezuela then you know randy
- 2:08:31Speaker 4: it's it's a big move so there's some very strong
- 2:08:34Speaker 4: positive that can come out of this uh... for the
- 2:08:37Speaker 4: world and and so we we can't really ignore that
- 2:08:41Speaker 4: because what we could end up with is a much
- 2:08:43Speaker 4: more free and open flowing oil market going forward which
- 2:08:46Speaker 4: will benefit consumers globally of course u s economy will
- 2:08:49Speaker 4: benefit All right, so there's some great benefits from that.
- 2:08:53Speaker 4: The other, of course, key issue for Iran is the
- 2:08:56Speaker 4: nuclear weapon. They desperately want to get one because they
- 2:08:59Speaker 4: see it as putting them on an equal footing with
- 2:09:02Speaker 4: other nations. I don't see there's any way that the
- 2:09:05Speaker 4: world is going to let Iran get a nuclear weapon.
- 2:09:07Speaker 4: I just can't see any way it's going to happen.
- 2:09:10Speaker 4: And as I've said before, if China or Russia or
- 2:09:14Speaker 4: Pakistan wanted the Iranians to have a nuclear weapon, they.
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: Would have one.
- 2:09:19Speaker 4: It's just not that hard. You know, so I don't
- 2:09:23Speaker 4: see that as a goal anyone's going to support. And
- 2:09:26Speaker 4: when you ask yourself, why is it that China hasn't
- 2:09:29Speaker 4: come raging into this war to help Iran? I mean,
- 2:09:32Speaker 4: they may have helped around the edges, but they're not
- 2:09:35Speaker 4: taking this on, and I think there are a couple
- 2:09:36Speaker 4: of reasons. One is they don't want to screw up
- 2:09:38Speaker 4: their own economy any further. Second of all, this isn't
- 2:09:40Speaker 4: their fight. And thirdly, do you really think they want
- 2:09:43Speaker 4: Iran to have a nuclear weapon and the ability to
- 2:09:46Speaker 4: stop 20% of the world's global oil supply from flowing?
- 2:09:49Speaker 4: I don't think China wants that. So these are, let's say, associates,
- 2:09:54Speaker 4: but I'm not sure they're blood brothers, right? So in
- 2:09:58Speaker 4: many ways, this has gone extremely well. And I think
- 2:10:01Speaker 4: it's going to go, you know, it's difficult to say
- 2:10:05Speaker 4: how it's going to go in the future. What we're
- 2:10:07Speaker 4: hearing now are these two schools of thought. One is
- 2:10:10Speaker 4: Trump is a genius, does no wrong. And, you know,
- 2:10:13Speaker 4: this war was imminent, needed. You know, the nuclear threat,
- 2:10:16Speaker 4: we were all going to die in a big mushroom cloud.
- 2:10:19Speaker 4: The other is Iran's holding all the cards. They can
- 2:10:21Speaker 4: hold out. And for some reason, Iran is immune to economics,
- 2:10:26Speaker 4: so they can hold out forever and win. And they're
- 2:10:30Speaker 4: winning now. Those are both wrong. You know, so first
- 2:10:34Speaker 4: of all, Iran is not immune to economics. You've heard
- 2:10:37Speaker 4: me say before, you don't buy tyranny at Costco at
- 2:10:40Speaker 4: a discount. It's a premium luxury good. This is This
- 2:10:44Speaker 4: is Louis Vuitton-level good, right? This is a luxury good,
- 2:10:48Speaker 4: being able to oppress, crush, suppress your own people, steal
- 2:10:52Speaker 4: all their money. I know the U.S. is on the
- 2:10:54Speaker 4: track to getting there, but we're now just at the
- 2:10:57Speaker 4: best theft and corruption level. We're not yet at full tyranny.
- 2:11:00Speaker 4: Tyranny is expensive. It's hard. You have to pay people
- 2:11:03Speaker 4: a lot of money to abuse and shoot and rob
- 2:11:07Speaker 4: their countrymen. So when you took, when Trump blockaded the strait,
- 2:11:13Speaker 4: and took $ 400 million a day of revenue out of
- 2:11:17Speaker 4: the coffers of the regime that's controlling Iran. That was
- 2:11:20Speaker 4: a huge hit. And I don't understand why people think
- 2:11:23Speaker 4: somehow Iran is immune to economics when their ally, what's
- 2:11:27Speaker 4: his name, Obama, was shipping them pallets of cash and
- 2:11:30Speaker 4: freeing up billions of dollars of restricted assets because he
- 2:11:34Speaker 4: knew they needed the money to continue their terrorist activities.
- 2:11:38Speaker 4: So he gave them the money in alignment with his
- 2:11:42Speaker 4: personal goals. All right, so they are not immune to economics.
- 2:11:46Speaker 4: There is no nation yet that's been immune to economics.
- 2:11:49Speaker 4: And when you look around the Middle East and all
- 2:11:50Speaker 4: the opulence, they're all in need of constant heavy cash flow.
- 2:11:55Speaker 4: So let's be clear, right? That's going to have an impact.
- 2:11:59Speaker 4: I mean, it's impossible to think it isn't. So, yes,
- 2:12:02Speaker 4: they're under attack. They're under stress now. Now, the other
- 2:12:05Speaker 4: thing with Iran, of course, is after several rounds of
- 2:12:08Speaker 4: devastating and just deleting, as they say on the net now,
- 2:12:12Speaker 4: deleting their leadership, military and civilian, it's not really clear
- 2:12:16Speaker 4: who speaks for that regime. I'm certain that there is
- 2:12:19Speaker 4: an ongoing battle inside for control and power. You've got
- 2:12:24Speaker 4: radical fundamentalist Islamists. You've got the opportunists, as we have here.
- 2:12:27Speaker 4: You've got the people that want peace. I'm sure there's
- 2:12:30Speaker 4: a mix and a battle. There's going to be more
- 2:12:32Speaker 4: death and disappearance of leaders in Iran over the next
- 2:12:35Speaker 4: few months. And out of this, somehow, something has come
- 2:12:38Speaker 4: up that we can negotiate with. But this isn't going
- 2:12:40Speaker 4: to be just a straight, simple negotiation. This is going
- 2:12:43Speaker 4: to take time. There are going to be good days
- 2:12:46Speaker 4: and bad days. And when a group emerges that can
- 2:12:49Speaker 4: actually speak for and commit to things for the government
- 2:12:52Speaker 4: of Iran, then we'll start to see some solidification. But
- 2:12:57Speaker 4: look what's not happening now. Now, they attacked a UAE
- 2:13:02Speaker 4: facility the other day. That was a bad act. And
- 2:13:05Speaker 4: they sent those six boats out that the Navy blew up.
- 2:13:08Speaker 19: But..
- 2:13:09Speaker 4: But they're not launching at the kind of level they could,
- 2:13:12Speaker 4: given the inventory of drones and missiles they have left.
- 2:13:16Speaker 4: Alec was talking about the dust the other day. I
- 2:13:18Speaker 4: don't think the dust, the uranium dust, that's not, I
- 2:13:22Speaker 4: don't think about stopping them from making a bomb. I
- 2:13:26Speaker 4: think that's about gathering evidence for an investigation into how
- 2:13:29Speaker 4: they got that dust. So I think that's why the
- 2:13:30Speaker 4: dust suddenly became important. But that's not a, that's a sidebar.
- 2:13:35Speaker 4: so now you've got this country that had several rounds
- 2:13:37Speaker 4: of leadership devastated their own geek in economic distress their
- 2:13:41Speaker 4: people are restless of course they've gotten me you know
- 2:13:43Speaker 4: millions of probably thirty million of the population that loves
- 2:13:47Speaker 4: this regime love their women in tents you know uh...
- 2:13:51Speaker 4: absolutely dedicated shreela but you know they don't have all
- 2:13:53Speaker 4: of them so there's stress in the country there's economic
- 2:13:56Speaker 4: stress they're gonna have problems as well with things like
- 2:13:59Speaker 4: water and food and and and that's there now on
- 2:14:02Speaker 4: our side This gasoline price is a problem. And if
- 2:14:07Speaker 4: you go back to your earlier conversation, you read an
- 2:14:10Speaker 4: article from Fox News about a guy named Schilling who
- 2:14:14Speaker 4: has spent a lot of time telling us that collapse
- 2:14:16Speaker 4: is coming. Now, I share some of his concerns, but
- 2:14:20Speaker 4: he really said some things in there that were misleading.
- 2:14:22Speaker 4: For example, he said business insiders cited that broader capital
- 2:14:26Speaker 4: expenditures grew by just 3.9% by the end of 2025
- 2:14:27Speaker 4: compared with a pandemic peak of twenty four percent capex
- 2:14:34Speaker 4: growth now that is offensively misleading any knows it because
- 2:14:38Speaker 4: what he's saying is that after the pandemic or during
- 2:14:41Speaker 4: the pandemic when capital expenditures felt near zero they showed
- 2:14:45Speaker 4: a twenty four percent increase you know zero you know
- 2:14:48Speaker 4: one to twenty four is a twenty four hundred percent
- 2:14:51Speaker 4: increase or two hundred forty percent increase rather it's silly
- 2:14:56Speaker 4: to take economic activity in the center of a crisis
- 2:14:59Speaker 4: and somehow use that and growing out of the crisis
- 2:15:01Speaker 4: as a gauge for what's happening. So let's look at
- 2:15:03Speaker 4: the real business investment numbers. In 2019, we had, let's
- 2:15:10Speaker 4: call it $ 2. 7 trillion of capital investment by businesses. 2020, again,
- 2:15:15Speaker 4: around that amount, a little less, a couple hundred million less.
- 2:15:17Speaker 4: In 2024, it was $ 4 trillion. In 2025, it's $ 4.
- 2:15:19Speaker 19: 3 trillion.
- 2:15:19Speaker 4: And in the first quarter of 2016, it went up
- 2:15:21Speaker 4: to $ 4. 5 trillion. We've had robust capital investment growth that
- 2:15:32Speaker 4: is unceasing. Now, some of this is driven by this
- 2:15:34Speaker 4: AI thing, which is going to become a problem. But nevertheless,
- 2:15:38Speaker 4: we have robust capital investment in this country. And if
- 2:15:41Speaker 4: you remember, when Trump negotiated all these trillions of dollars
- 2:15:45Speaker 4: of capital investments coming in, and we were talking about it,
- 2:15:47Speaker 4: he said something like $ 17 to $ 20 trillion. We said, hey, look,
- 2:15:50Speaker 4: if he gets $ 3 to $ 5 trillion, it'll change everything.
- 2:15:52Speaker 4: By this time last year, they'd increased jobs in the
- 2:15:55Speaker 4: United States by $ 415, 000. with those job with those investments
- 2:15:59Speaker 4: so we are definitely facing stress from the increase in
- 2:16:04Speaker 4: gas prices not as much stress for as we are
- 2:16:06Speaker 4: from the fraud that the federal state and local governments
- 2:16:09Speaker 4: are aren't are analyzing our country with that's a far
- 2:16:13Speaker 4: bigger cost i'd like to sixteen billion dollars abroad ohio
- 2:16:16Speaker 4: you know that that this is a much bigger cost
- 2:16:18Speaker 4: the price of gas but nevertheless this gasoline is good
- 2:16:22Speaker 4: is hurting us it's going to drive some incremental inflation
- 2:16:25Speaker 4: or ever inflation i don't use the bureau labor statistics
- 2:16:28Speaker 4: numbers are used for inflation inflation is actually a pretty
- 2:16:31Speaker 4: low level it had gotten down to about point seven
- 2:16:33Speaker 4: percent before this war but but our our capital investment
- 2:16:39Speaker 4: numbers are good uh... gps is is growing uh... i
- 2:16:42Speaker 4: think of that inflation but it's growing in some of
- 2:16:44Speaker 4: that you know i i i don't like the weight
- 2:16:46Speaker 4: county but nevertheless it's growing and and we've we've got
- 2:16:50Speaker 4: good and and and bad things in our economy but
- 2:16:53Speaker 4: to portray the u.s economy as collapsing because we aren't
- 2:16:56Speaker 4: at the level of growth that we were at after
- 2:17:00Speaker 4: the shutdown of the economy during the COVID thing. That's disingenuous. Now,
- 2:17:05Speaker 4: Frank made a couple of comments that I found interesting.
- 2:17:07Speaker 4: He said that his investments in Asia are, quote, soaring.
- 2:17:13Speaker 4: So let me give you some thoughts on that because
- 2:17:15Speaker 4: it's really interesting. The S & P 500 last 12-month
- 2:17:20Speaker 4: performance is eight times better than the Shanghai index. Now,
- 2:17:25Speaker 4: neither is very impressive at this point, but the U.S.
- 2:17:30Speaker 4: markets are trading at an all-time high. So the S &
- 2:17:32Speaker 4: P is trading at an all-time high, okay? Now, the
- 2:17:36Speaker 4: Hong Kong index, it peaked in January. It's off 7%
- 2:17:40Speaker 4: from its peak. So soaring in Hong Kong means down 7%.
- 2:17:45Speaker 4: It's just not true. And the point is that these
- 2:17:48Speaker 4: economic analyses are so... often molded by selectively presented data
- 2:17:54Speaker 4: that is just wrong. Yes, inflation is going to be
- 2:17:58Speaker 4: a problem. Yes, the consumer is going to be very
- 2:18:01Speaker 4: angry about the price of gas. Doesn't matter that it
- 2:18:04Speaker 4: was higher under Biden. They don't care. They hired Trump
- 2:18:06Speaker 4: to bring it down. He did. and then he drove
- 2:18:09Speaker 4: it back up for reasons they don't accept. So there's
- 2:18:12Speaker 4: no doubt that's a problem. I do believe that once
- 2:18:14Speaker 4: this trade is really open and flowing, and maybe they're
- 2:18:16Speaker 4: having some success today, we'll see later, but once this
- 2:18:19Speaker 4: trade is open and oil is flowing again and we
- 2:18:21Speaker 4: get full restoration, it'll take about 30 days to refill
- 2:18:24Speaker 4: the supply chains. Of course, strategic petroleum reserves have been
- 2:18:27Speaker 4: drawn down in countries. China's living on a lot of reserves.
- 2:18:31Speaker 4: But it'll take about 30 days to resume, and then
- 2:18:33Speaker 4: we'll see gas prices normalize back down. If Saudi and
- 2:18:36Speaker 4: UAE pump at larger numbers than OPEC allowed, we may
- 2:18:40Speaker 4: see lower gas prices still than we saw now. So
- 2:18:43Speaker 4: we don't know what's coming. This is going to be
- 2:18:46Speaker 4: a bumpy ride. We cannot see into the negotiation room because,
- 2:18:51Speaker 4: you know, we're not even sure who on the other
- 2:18:53Speaker 4: side is there.
- 2:18:53Speaker 1: Hold that thought. Hold that thought. Hold that thought. He's
- 2:18:56Speaker 1: on a roll tonight. And we'll pick up with that
- 2:18:58Speaker 1: with G2 and calls. Stay with us. And Ron Firm,
- 2:19:07Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570, WDKVN, with you until 7 o'clock tonight, G2.
- 2:19:11Speaker 1: At long last, we've got some time for a little
- 2:19:14Speaker 1: G2 dose here on NewsRadio 570, WDKVN. Go ahead and
- 2:19:17Speaker 1: finish the thoughts that you're making.
- 2:19:20Speaker 4: Well, coming back to the economy, then, there's a billionaire
- 2:19:23Speaker 4: named Leon Cooperman was just on, I think he was
- 2:19:26Speaker 4: on Fox, and he makes the comment that, you know,
- 2:19:29Speaker 4: that The market was already weakening going into this war,
- 2:19:33Speaker 4: but we've seen earnings growth of about 3%. So he
- 2:19:37Speaker 4: says that's what we're looking at, and we don't see
- 2:19:38Speaker 4: a recession this year. Though gas price is a big hit,
- 2:19:42Speaker 4: it's got to be impactful. It's very visible to the voter.
- 2:19:45Speaker 4: That's a problem. But if the Republicans in Congress decided
- 2:19:49Speaker 4: to stand up and actually implement the American agenda, it
- 2:19:52Speaker 4: would overwhelm the price of gas. There are other things
- 2:19:56Speaker 4: that could happen. Now, shifting over to China, right? China
- 2:19:59Speaker 4: used to have this double-digit economic growth. It's not doing
- 2:20:03Speaker 4: that now. It's growing at about 5%, which by our
- 2:20:05Speaker 4: standards would be incredibly healthy. China used to grow much
- 2:20:09Speaker 4: higher than that, at much higher rates than that. But
- 2:20:11Speaker 4: they do have this problem in their property sector, which
- 2:20:14Speaker 4: is like, I don't know, 30 or something. Somebody can
- 2:20:16Speaker 4: look it up, 30 or 40% of their economy. So,
- 2:20:19Speaker 4: you know, you remember back when they put tanks around
- 2:20:21Speaker 4: their largest property developer, right? The names escape me right now.
- 2:20:25Speaker 4: I can't remember.
- 2:20:26Speaker 1: But they put.
- 2:20:26Speaker 4: Tanks around it. It had $ 300 billion in debt, and
- 2:20:29Speaker 4: it defaulted. And they told all their customers, listen, your
- 2:20:32Speaker 4: deposits on your homes that they were to build for
- 2:20:35Speaker 4: you are now going to be considered equity investments. You
- 2:20:37Speaker 4: don't get your money back. I mean, this was a
- 2:20:41Speaker 4: big move. And it's not caused the collapse that many feared. But,
- 2:20:46Speaker 4: you know, the Chinese have to be careful with this
- 2:20:48Speaker 4: economy because they have a lot of dependency on exports.
- 2:20:51Speaker 4: They have a very heavy dependency on imported oil. it's
- 2:20:55Speaker 4: not the raging bull that we're often told it is.
- 2:21:00Speaker 4: It's a very, in many ways, it's sound, it's doing okay,
- 2:21:03Speaker 4: but it's got some serious risks. And I think we
- 2:21:07Speaker 4: can't really ignore that in this idea that Frank was
- 2:21:12Speaker 4: bringing up, that somehow China's the glowing example of wonderment.
- 2:21:18Speaker 4: It simply isn't. And I will tell you, if the
- 2:21:21Speaker 4: United States hadn't decided to sacrifice its core jobs to
- 2:21:28Speaker 4: transfer all this high-value employment and high-value manufacturing into China,
- 2:21:34Speaker 4: you know, if we hadn't done that, which is treason
- 2:21:37Speaker 4: to the U.S., then China's economy would have never grown
- 2:21:40Speaker 4: like this. If Europe had not allowed itself to engage
- 2:21:45Speaker 4: in a parasitic relationship with us where it lives off
- 2:21:48Speaker 4: of us, you know, defense of the economy, and then
- 2:21:51Speaker 4: it outsourced its work to China... then China would not
- 2:21:54Speaker 4: be doing as well. So we feed China both through
- 2:21:57Speaker 4: the EU and direct by allowing its parasitic relationship with
- 2:22:02Speaker 4: the U.S. to continue. Now, of course, China buys stuff
- 2:22:04Speaker 4: from the U.S., but we all know that's in one
- 2:22:06Speaker 4: way or another.
- 2:22:06Speaker 1: Well, China's economies are dependent on the United States marketplace.
- 2:22:11Speaker 7: Agree?
- 2:22:12Speaker 4: Absolutely. U.S., Europe, absolutely. It's lived off of us. And
- 2:22:15Speaker 4: without us, it would not have this economic growth. And frankly,
- 2:22:18Speaker 4: we should never have allowed it to happen in the
- 2:22:20Speaker 4: first place.
- 2:22:20Speaker 1: The only thing I would go back to is when
- 2:22:22Speaker 1: you're talking about the one article. Listen, America is not
- 2:22:25Speaker 1: in the best position at the present time. You have
- 2:22:28Speaker 1: a growing debt and deficit that is not being addressed,
- 2:22:32Speaker 1: that is of grave concern and should be. to the
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: future of this country and the interest that we pay
- 2:22:38Speaker 1: on it. We have, as I said earlier, electric rates
- 2:22:41Speaker 1: have doubled. Natural gas prices are high. Now gasoline is high.
- 2:22:46Speaker 1: And inflation is roaring its head back. This is not
- 2:22:51Speaker 1: a great economy. Stand by. I'll finish my thought and
- 2:22:55Speaker 1: then get a reaction from G2. That'll take some of
- 2:22:58Speaker 1: your calls. Coming up. The Sky. News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 2:23:01Speaker 13: On News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 2:23:05Speaker 1: But, G2, before I start taking some phone calls for you,
- 2:23:09Speaker 1: when you're talking about the economy and all this kind
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: of stuff, listen, Trump was elected to put America first.
- 2:23:15Speaker 1: Trump was elected to deal with inflation and energy prices
- 2:23:19Speaker 1: and close the borders. This is why he got elected.
- 2:23:24Speaker 1: He wasn't elected for regime change and to get involved
- 2:23:27Speaker 1: in the Middle East and get involved in these type
- 2:23:29Speaker 1: of things. So when you talk about the economy, I
- 2:23:33Speaker 1: sit here and hear on a regular basis, I hear
- 2:23:35Speaker 1: from businesses, all types of different businesses, small businesses, restaurants,
- 2:23:40Speaker 1: you name it, the effect that this is having right now.
- 2:23:45Speaker 1: that is having with these high prices and the inflation
- 2:23:48Speaker 1: that's coming from it. And we would be critical if
- 2:23:52Speaker 1: it was Biden, and I'll be critical since it's Trump
- 2:23:57Speaker 1: as well, when we see what's going on. I don't
- 2:24:00Speaker 1: poo-poo any of this stuff. This could have been a...
- 2:24:03Speaker 1: If he would have stayed focused, can you imagine where
- 2:24:05Speaker 1: the economy would be right now? The golden age? Could
- 2:24:09Speaker 1: you imagine what would happen with gas prices, with inflation,
- 2:24:11Speaker 1: where it was going? All of that's been erased. And
- 2:24:15Speaker 1: it's speculation to say, if we settle this, everything's going
- 2:24:18Speaker 1: to fall back in line relatively quick. We have heard
- 2:24:21Speaker 1: that before from Trump, and it didn't come true. So
- 2:24:24Speaker 1: it's not necessarily how quick that this can happen, and
- 2:24:27Speaker 1: that's nothing but speculation. But to act like this doesn't
- 2:24:31Speaker 1: have an effect on people's lives today with increased prices, with,
- 2:24:36Speaker 1: as I said, electric costs doubling, natural gas up there,
- 2:24:39Speaker 1: gasoline up there, groceries going back up, shipping costs going
- 2:24:43Speaker 1: back up, all of these problems that come from it
- 2:24:46Speaker 1: is to ignore the obvious. Comment, please.
- 2:24:50Speaker 4: I don't think any of that's wrong. I'm not saying
- 2:24:52Speaker 4: there's not an impact on people. It's $ 5 gasoline or
- 2:24:55Speaker 4: wherever it is where you are. I mean, it's different everywhere.
- 2:24:58Speaker 4: It really could have a significant variance, which would be shocking,
- 2:25:01Speaker 4: the amount of taxes and this stuff. But anyway, having
- 2:25:05Speaker 4: a $ 5- gallon gas price after whatever it was at, $ 3
- 2:25:08Speaker 4: or something, it's a huge impact, and it's no doubt
- 2:25:11Speaker 4: going to have an impact on the economy, and it's
- 2:25:14Speaker 4: going to drive some incremental inflation. That's why inflation's up
- 2:25:17Speaker 4: from that 0.7% that Trump got it down to, without
- 2:25:21Speaker 4: any help from Congress, of course. So all that is true.
- 2:25:25Speaker 4: But I think we just need to keep it all
- 2:25:27Speaker 4: in perspective. And that statement that it was this statement
- 2:25:30Speaker 4: made in that article about the decline in CapEx growth,
- 2:25:34Speaker 4: which is absolutely false. That was a misleading statement, so
- 2:25:39Speaker 4: misleading that it was false. But, yeah, he's got to
- 2:25:42Speaker 4: get this fixed. Now, I don't think it's hard to see.
- 2:25:45Speaker 4: Just as we saw when Trump changed the energy policies
- 2:25:48Speaker 4: coming into office, we saw the impact on gasoline prices.
- 2:25:52Speaker 4: You know, just regulatory changes and policy changes. immediately we
- 2:25:56Speaker 4: saw a relief on the energy side. I don't think
- 2:26:00Speaker 4: it's that speculative to say that if this war gets solved,
- 2:26:03Speaker 4: you know, you get about 30 days to get oil
- 2:26:04Speaker 4: flowing again and we get back to seeing those numbers
- 2:26:06Speaker 4: back in line. I think that's, like, kind of, I
- 2:26:09Speaker 4: think that's easy to foresee. But on these other economic issues,
- 2:26:15Speaker 4: for example, the debt, the deficit, the consumer debt level,
- 2:26:19Speaker 4: these are all serious problems. And, you know, to your
- 2:26:22Speaker 4: could-you-imagine question, imagine... If instead of following Israel into this war,
- 2:26:28Speaker 4: and by the way, we don't talk about Lebanon enough,
- 2:26:30Speaker 4: but allowing that to happen, which is just a catastrophe,
- 2:26:34Speaker 4: but following Israel into this war and then turning around
- 2:26:38Speaker 4: and not getting the SAVE Act passed, now inflation is
- 2:26:41Speaker 4: climbing again. We still have all the cumulative inflation of
- 2:26:45Speaker 4: the prior years, but we got more. We're still running
- 2:26:47Speaker 4: a $ 2 trillion or whatever it is dollar deficit. We're
- 2:26:51Speaker 4: going to be at $ 40 trillion a day. I've been
- 2:26:52Speaker 4: rounding up for a long time. You know, we've got
- 2:26:54Speaker 4: more debt. The debt's bigger than the economy. You know,
- 2:26:58Speaker 4: we have unfunded liabilities out of control. Imagine if instead
- 2:27:01Speaker 4: of this, Trump had spent this energy going after the fraud,
- 2:27:05Speaker 4: crushing the deficit, forcing the Republicans to implement the SAVE
- 2:27:09Speaker 4: Act and stop hiding behind the parliamentarian and the wrong
- 2:27:14Speaker 4: speeches from Democrats. If he'd have focused all of that
- 2:27:17Speaker 4: on the America First agenda, it'd be great. Now, at
- 2:27:20Speaker 4: the same time, of course, we can't ignore international issues.
- 2:27:23Speaker 4: Because our economy is dependent upon our position as the
- 2:27:26Speaker 4: world's reserve currency. Our competitive position with China is dependent
- 2:27:32Speaker 4: upon us paying a reasonable price relative to China for energy,
- 2:27:37Speaker 4: We've been installing high-cost, low-efficiency, low-reliability energy systems, not from China,
- 2:27:42Speaker 4: while they've been installing low-cost, high-reliability, high-efficiency systems. Some of
- 2:27:50Speaker 4: these global moves were critical. For example, the Panama Canal.
- 2:27:54Speaker 4: When you look at what he's done with Venezuela, in
- 2:27:56Speaker 4: the end, that really helped the United States. I agree
- 2:27:59Speaker 4: with this It's not entirely that simple, but if he'd
- 2:28:03Speaker 4: just focused and gotten the Republicans to quit lying to
- 2:28:07Speaker 4: us and actually support the American agenda. I mean, could
- 2:28:10Speaker 4: you imagine if Boone and Spender Johnson weren't traitors? If
- 2:28:16Speaker 4: they were true, loyal Americans, loyal to the agenda, we
- 2:28:20Speaker 4: would be in a totally different situation. You'd be seeing
- 2:28:22Speaker 4: debt go down. You'd be seeing consumer debt go down.
- 2:28:25Speaker 4: Wages would be surging. I mean, it'd be a beautiful thing.
- 2:28:29Speaker 19: Right.
- 2:28:29Speaker 1: Imagine how things would be going if this war never happens,
- 2:28:33Speaker 1: economically speaking.
- 2:28:35Speaker 4: We'd be in much better shape, but I think Trump
- 2:28:36Speaker 4: would be better shaped for the midterms. And I think
- 2:28:40Speaker 4: Israel would not be suffering the loss of support in
- 2:28:45Speaker 4: the United States that it's suffering. And you could see
- 2:28:47Speaker 4: that loss of support if you look at the numbers
- 2:28:50Speaker 4: around the Daily Wire, this Ben Shapiro thing. You know,
- 2:28:54Speaker 4: I don't know if I get these numbers right, but
- 2:28:56Speaker 4: he went from something like 170 million impressions a month
- 2:28:59Speaker 4: down to twenty million now twenty million huge but it's
- 2:29:02Speaker 4: a big drop they've had a cut after staff and
- 2:29:05Speaker 4: and the reason is that he's basically israel first israel
- 2:29:08Speaker 4: only all day long i mean it's also pretty arrogant
- 2:29:12Speaker 4: hard to listen to but but he's he is the
- 2:29:16Speaker 4: human mark levin and this this sort of weird person
- 2:29:19Speaker 4: laura loomer i don't know what his deal is uh...
- 2:29:22Speaker 4: they they are uh... they are not helping the cause
- 2:29:26Speaker 4: You know, Mark Levin's screaming all night about how America
- 2:29:29Speaker 4: owes Israel its life, I guess. You know, whatever they want,
- 2:29:31Speaker 4: we have to do. Now, I will tell you, one
- 2:29:34Speaker 4: thing Levin's been talking about is nuking Iran. And if
- 2:29:38Speaker 4: they launch, let's say, real serious attacks on the water
- 2:29:42Speaker 4: and oil infrastructure in the Middle East, which they still
- 2:29:44Speaker 4: have the capacity to do, if they start sinking ships
- 2:29:47Speaker 4: in big numbers, you might find that as the option,
- 2:29:50Speaker 4: because a land invasion is not an option. So... live
- 2:29:55Speaker 4: in my get what he wants if the more radical
- 2:29:57Speaker 4: iranians takeover.
- 2:30:00Speaker 1: All right would you to let's take some calls you're
- 2:30:02Speaker 1: on the.
- 2:30:02Speaker 4: Air memorial article that you're on the.
- 2:30:05Speaker 1: Air hello yes.
- 2:30:09Speaker 4: They uh..
- 2:30:10Speaker 34: This is matt from austin town uh... i've got all
- 2:30:13Speaker 34: theory here uh..
- 2:30:15Speaker 15: I think uh..
- 2:30:16Speaker 34: The move in venezuela move iran what it is it's
- 2:30:21Speaker 34: a play against china Completely. Middle of April, they had
- 2:30:31Speaker 34: talks with Indonesia about the Straits of Malacca. I just
- 2:30:37Speaker 34: think this is totally cutting off the oil supply to China,
- 2:30:42Speaker 34: and it all has to do with Taiwan.
- 2:30:45Speaker 1: Comment, G2?
- 2:30:47Speaker 4: I think you're right up to the except all about.
- 2:30:50Speaker 4: It's not all about this, but this is a really
- 2:30:53Speaker 4: key issue. And again, look at the progression of attacks
- 2:30:56Speaker 4: on China. First, he sealed the southern border of the
- 2:30:58Speaker 4: United States. That's a major problem for China's fentanyl attack
- 2:31:02Speaker 4: on the U.S. Then he pushes them out of Panama.
- 2:31:05Speaker 4: Then he does Venezuela. The day that the Chinese said
- 2:31:07Speaker 4: they were going to start using Chinese warships to escort
- 2:31:11Speaker 4: Venezuelan oil tankers. So he has steadily and progressively been
- 2:31:16Speaker 4: working to diminish their ability to influence Venezuela. Western Hemisphere, right?
- 2:31:21Speaker 4: And to drive down their influence globally. And he's removing
- 2:31:25Speaker 4: their ability to buy oil below market. So there's no
- 2:31:28Speaker 4: question that that's a big piece of it. The City
- 2:31:30Speaker 4: of London thing is a big piece of it. The
- 2:31:32Speaker 4: globalists are a big piece of it, which is kind
- 2:31:35Speaker 4: of City of London with different names. You know, there
- 2:31:38Speaker 4: are a lot of factors at play here. And at
- 2:31:41Speaker 4: least the globalists, if not China, at least the globalists
- 2:31:45Speaker 4: represent an existential threat. If no one ever checked China
- 2:31:49Speaker 4: in the Americas, that would become an existential threat very soon.
- 2:31:52Speaker 4: And you've seen Mark Carney, this evil guy up in Canada,
- 2:31:57Speaker 4: who they brought in from the Bank of London to
- 2:31:59Speaker 4: take over Canada, appointed him, put him in place, stood
- 2:32:02Speaker 4: as smart, and he's evil. And he is going to
- 2:32:07Speaker 4: advance that globalist agenda. And you see what he's doing?
- 2:32:10Speaker 4: Tying up with China. So you're right. I think it's
- 2:32:14Speaker 4: just not that that's just not all of it. And,
- 2:32:17Speaker 4: you know, this group of globalists that are behind every
- 2:32:23Speaker 4: problem we have are a big part of it as well.
- 2:32:29Speaker 11: Right.
- 2:32:30Speaker 34: So I think the biggest thing with the economy is
- 2:32:33Speaker 34: if you want to see this economy and the world
- 2:32:35Speaker 34: economy take a nosedive, China takes Taiwan. And then they
- 2:32:41Speaker 34: just say... You know, we raise the price to whatever
- 2:32:45Speaker 34: we want for the chip manufacturing. And everything in this
- 2:32:49Speaker 34: world is run on the chips that are coming out
- 2:32:51Speaker 34: of Taiwan. And as quick as we've been trying in
- 2:32:56Speaker 34: this country to get up to speed on producing chips,
- 2:33:01Speaker 34: we're probably 10, 15 years away from, you know, picking
- 2:33:06Speaker 34: that up.
- 2:33:08Speaker 4: There's no way we can replace those chips in a
- 2:33:10Speaker 4: short period of time. And this ridiculous idea of the U.S. government...
- 2:33:14Speaker 4: to get fifty billion dollars to these multi-national that make
- 2:33:17Speaker 4: chips to build out their kids their production lines that
- 2:33:20Speaker 4: that's offensive to the american people but nevertheless uh... you're
- 2:33:27Speaker 4: right i mean taiwan's a big piece of this here's
- 2:33:30Speaker 4: the thing i think i want harder to take than
- 2:33:32Speaker 4: that it might seem uh... they're gonna have to take
- 2:33:35Speaker 4: it from within the way they're taking the united state
- 2:33:37Speaker 4: and um... and i think that uh... i think china
- 2:33:41Speaker 4: knows the delicacy of that so We live in constant
- 2:33:44Speaker 4: fear of them doing it. Of course, they'd like to
- 2:33:47Speaker 4: take Taiwan. I just don't know what the map is inside,
- 2:33:52Speaker 4: you know, that forbidden city. What's going on in Beijing?
- 2:33:54Speaker 4: It's hard to say.
- 2:33:56Speaker 1: Thanks for your call. With G2, you're on the air.
- 2:33:59Speaker 5: Hey there.
- 2:34:00Speaker 31: So the reasons why we went into Iran are four
- 2:34:03Speaker 31: and a half. I'll go over them quickly. They, you know,
- 2:34:07Speaker 31: nuclear weapons is one part. Second is they're a threat
- 2:34:11Speaker 31: to their region, which includes our neighbors, our allies and
- 2:34:15Speaker 31: their neighbors, both. And our fifth, I think it's the
- 2:34:20Speaker 31: fifth fleet in Qatar.
- 2:34:23Speaker 4: The threat of..
- 2:34:30Speaker 31: Of terror around the world. They've been the largest threat
- 2:34:34Speaker 31: of terror for decades on end. And the fourth is
- 2:34:40Speaker 31: the design and use of intercontinental ballistic missiles. If you
- 2:34:46Speaker 31: ever want to understand what that means, look up rods
- 2:34:50Speaker 31: from God.
- 2:34:50Speaker 8: If they.
- 2:34:53Speaker 31: Throw 30 or 40 missiles toward a capital in Europe
- 2:34:57Speaker 31: that is undefended, they can probably destroy that capital the
- 2:35:01Speaker 31: same way they would with a nuclear weapon, at least
- 2:35:05Speaker 31: from the infrastructure standpoint.
- 2:35:07Speaker 4: I think that the.
- 2:35:08Speaker 31: Other side of this that Trump is doing that is
- 2:35:12Speaker 31: genius is that it, along with Venezuela and Cuba, puts
- 2:35:18Speaker 31: China in a box of a Fifth reason for doing
- 2:35:23Speaker 31: this is also to reduce the threat from Iran into
- 2:35:29Speaker 31: South America, which is Monroe Doctrine type things. They have
- 2:35:35Speaker 31: been a serious threat in South America for decades on end.
- 2:35:41Speaker 31: So I think the reasons for doing this are absolutely true.
- 2:35:46Speaker 15: Comment, G2?
- 2:35:51Speaker 4: Well, those are all the reasons that were given, and
- 2:35:53Speaker 4: I think there's legitimacy to each of them at some level.
- 2:35:55Speaker 4: It's the waiting and timing, right? So doing this before
- 2:35:59Speaker 4: the midterms makes no sense because there was no imminent
- 2:36:02Speaker 4: threat of nuclear attack, as we learned from the ODNI,
- 2:36:06Speaker 4: and we know why we went in now. I would
- 2:36:09Speaker 4: respectfully disagree. Well, Rubio, I would disagree about this.
- 2:36:16Speaker 31: I would disagree about the midterms, because if you lost
- 2:36:20Speaker 31: the midterms, which historically you always do, you could be
- 2:36:24Speaker 31: stopped from doing anything.
- 2:36:27Speaker 4: So you had to do it now or not. Well,
- 2:36:29Speaker 4: that's why Israel said now. That's exactly my point. I
- 2:36:32Speaker 4: think you're right about that.
- 2:36:35Speaker 31: What's your data on Israel saying now? I think they
- 2:36:40Speaker 31: might have had an influence, no doubt. Let me explain this.
- 2:36:45Speaker 4: Hold on, I'll tell you. Hold on one second. The
- 2:36:48Speaker 4: data is this. I don't know if I can find
- 2:36:49Speaker 4: it in time. Israel's imminent attack on Iran forced U.S.
- 2:36:52Speaker 4: to join war, says Rubio. Now, there were others that
- 2:36:55Speaker 4: said that at the time. And, of course, that was
- 2:36:58Speaker 4: after the ODNI came out and said, we are not concerned.
- 2:37:02Speaker 4: I'm paraphrasing. We're not concerned about an imminent nuclear threat
- 2:37:05Speaker 4: from Iran. They aren't anywhere near producing a bomb and
- 2:37:08Speaker 4: delivering it. So this was, as Rubio said, this was
- 2:37:12Speaker 4: timing decided by Israel. I think it was decided because
- 2:37:16Speaker 4: of their concern that Trump would lose power in the midterms,
- 2:37:19Speaker 4: and they really have an incredible amount of influence over Trump.
- 2:37:25Speaker 31: They may, but I don't see that they were actually
- 2:37:28Speaker 31: calling the shots.
- 2:37:29Speaker 25: Alright.
- 2:37:30Speaker 1: You can disagree.
- 2:37:32Speaker 15: I just don't.
- 2:37:33Speaker 4: Think that would... I mean, it's right there. I didn't
- 2:37:38Speaker 4: make that up. That's a headline.
- 2:37:39Speaker 8: Sure, sure.
- 2:37:39Speaker 5: I mean, I generally..
- 2:37:43Speaker 31: I generally agree with you that they have an influence.
- 2:37:48Speaker 31: Exact timing is really something.
- 2:37:52Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you something, Collar. All of that
- 2:37:55Speaker 1: might be important, but if you derail the American agenda
- 2:37:58Speaker 1: at the midterms, you want to concede the midterms, and
- 2:38:01Speaker 1: I don't want to concede them. We were on a
- 2:38:03Speaker 1: path to fixing this country economically, making America first, getting
- 2:38:08Speaker 1: inflation down, energy independence, and so many other things that
- 2:38:12Speaker 1: have all been derailed, all been derailed as a result
- 2:38:16Speaker 1: of this, with high gas prices, inflation back, and the
- 2:38:20Speaker 1: American agenda... curtail.
- 2:38:23Speaker 6: Inflation hasn't changed.
- 2:38:25Speaker 31: You don't understand. You can consistently use the wrong definition
- 2:38:29Speaker 31: of inflation.
- 2:38:30Speaker 10: All right.
- 2:38:30Speaker 1: Well, whatever. People are paying more.
- 2:38:33Speaker 31: Energy and taxes are the one thing that can be the..
- 2:38:39Speaker 1: Sir, we can nitpick. We ain't got that kind of
- 2:38:42Speaker 1: time here today. The reality is people can't afford it.
- 2:38:45Speaker 1: Don't you get it?
- 2:38:47Speaker 4: I understand that.
- 2:38:49Speaker 1: Okay, so where do you think it's heading? When people
- 2:38:52Speaker 1: go out and vote..
- 2:38:53Speaker 31: You are never going to get rid of the threat.
- 2:38:55Speaker 4: That's the problem.
- 2:38:56Speaker 1: All right, well, you might end up getting rid of
- 2:38:58Speaker 1: the Republicans.
- 2:38:58Speaker 3: That's been demonstrated for decades.
- 2:38:59Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 2:39:01Speaker 9: Hey, Ron, I know I called today, but I'd like
- 2:39:04Speaker 9: permission to respond to G2' s prank question.
- 2:39:07Speaker 1: All right, good, quick. You can respond, and then he'll
- 2:39:10Speaker 1: respond to you quickly.
- 2:39:12Speaker 9: China's economy is slowing G2 because they are now... A
- 2:39:15Speaker 9: mature economy and 5% growth is even great for a
- 2:39:19Speaker 9: third-world country, let alone a mature economy. And the same
- 2:39:23Speaker 9: thing happened to the U.S. in the late 1890s when
- 2:39:26Speaker 9: we shattered the all-time record for economic growth, then slowed
- 2:39:30Speaker 9: to 3%, 4%, to 4%. And our new record growth
- 2:39:34Speaker 9: rate was shattered by China.
- 2:39:36Speaker 8: In the 1990s.
- 2:39:36Speaker 9: And, hey, G2, in the early 2000s, the U.S. led
- 2:39:38Speaker 9: the world in 29 out of 34% critical areas of
- 2:39:45Speaker 9: key future technology. Today, China leads the world in 31
- 2:39:50Speaker 9: out of 34 areas of key future technology, and China
- 2:39:55Speaker 9: is graduating far more scientists, physicists, engineers, economists than we are,
- 2:40:01Speaker 9: and the factors of production are land, labor, and capital.
- 2:40:04Speaker 9: I told Ron 36 years ago, human brain power is
- 2:40:08Speaker 9: by far the most, and that's why I'm investing in
- 2:40:12Speaker 9: China and Asia today. And my stocks are taking off,
- 2:40:15Speaker 9: not my American stocks.
- 2:40:17Speaker 4: Hong Kong down 7%. You got a shot at getting
- 2:40:19Speaker 4: a nice pump, right? I mean, if Hong Kong gets
- 2:40:22Speaker 4: back to what it was at in, say, January, you
- 2:40:24Speaker 4: could get a 7% return just getting back the losses
- 2:40:28Speaker 4: that have been taken since the end of January.
- 2:40:30Speaker 9: G2, I have huge profits in all my Asian stocks
- 2:40:33Speaker 9: in a short period of time. I don't know what
- 2:40:36Speaker 9: you're talking about.
- 2:40:37Speaker 1: All right. Thank you. I got to go. You're on air.
- 2:40:41Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by. I'll get back to that caller. G2,
- 2:40:44Speaker 1: stand by. I'll let you first react to what Frank
- 2:40:47Speaker 1: had to say. Then I get to more callers. Hopefully
- 2:40:50Speaker 1: I get you all in before we hit seven tonight.
- 2:40:53Speaker 13: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN. All right,
- 2:40:59Speaker 13: so your comments with Frank's investments, not that.
- 2:41:04Speaker 1: It should matter.
- 2:41:06Speaker 4: First, inflation is up to about 1.88% from a low
- 2:41:10Speaker 4: of 0.7, so it is higher. It is not catastrophically higher,
- 2:41:13Speaker 4: as I said, but it is higher. And, of course,
- 2:41:16Speaker 4: the BLS has it at 3.3, which I don't pay
- 2:41:19Speaker 4: much attention to. So with Frank, I mean, just look
- 2:41:22Speaker 4: at the indexes. You know, the Hong Kong index peaked
- 2:41:25Speaker 4: on January 29. It's off 7% from that peak, so
- 2:41:28Speaker 4: that's all. I'm happy that he's making money in Asian stocks.
- 2:41:32Speaker 4: That's great. You can make money in U.S. stocks as well.
- 2:41:36Speaker 4: The U.S. is trading at an all-time high. As a trader,
- 2:41:41Speaker 4: his focus is on stock prices. He has to view
- 2:41:43Speaker 4: the U.S. favorably. The challenge that Frank has isn't knowledge
- 2:41:47Speaker 4: or intellect. It's the view that he is desperate to
- 2:41:50Speaker 4: see Trump fail. He's desperate to be the smartest guy
- 2:41:53Speaker 4: in the room. You know, so it's very difficult to
- 2:41:56Speaker 4: have a good faith discussion with him. So he will
- 2:41:58Speaker 4: cherry pick data and continuously tell us that when he invests,
- 2:42:02Speaker 4: he only wins.
- 2:42:04Speaker 1: Richie, too, you're on the air.
- 2:42:08Speaker 15: Oh, geez.
- 2:42:09Speaker 1: Hello.
- 2:42:10Speaker 4: Ron?
- 2:42:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:42:12Speaker 11: Good.
- 2:42:13Speaker 15: I only want to throw this out there.
- 2:42:15Speaker 11: Mm-hmm.
- 2:42:16Speaker 15: Back in the 80s, the Shah of Iran, and I'm
- 2:42:20Speaker 15: wondering if G2 remembers this, the Shah of Iran had
- 2:42:24Speaker 15: stated during one of our same situations that were going
- 2:42:29Speaker 15: on right now that all the oil that is being
- 2:42:34Speaker 15: fluctuated through our gas prices now was non-affected by the
- 2:42:39Speaker 15: wars that were going on, and that the powers that
- 2:42:43Speaker 15: be were manipulating the prices. coming right out of iran
- 2:42:49Speaker 15: itself and saudi arabia all.
- 2:42:51Speaker 1: Right what's your point i don't have a lot of
- 2:42:52Speaker 1: time gotta make it.
- 2:42:53Speaker 15: Quick i just want to know if g2 can confirm
- 2:42:56Speaker 15: that with the shah from the 80s if this is
- 2:42:59Speaker 15: all you know people and powers that be are controlling
- 2:43:04Speaker 15: the oil before it even gets to our shores comment.
- 2:43:08Speaker 4: Percent well obviously the shah was an ally of the
- 2:43:11Speaker 4: united states and britain and and so he wouldn't have
- 2:43:13Speaker 4: been using power to control the straight against us. In fact,
- 2:43:16Speaker 4: he would have been defending it for us probably, right?
- 2:43:18Speaker 4: And we would have been able to support him in
- 2:43:20Speaker 4: doing that. I know people that worked for him or
- 2:43:23Speaker 4: that worked in the oil fields over there when he
- 2:43:24Speaker 4: was there, divers and whatnot, and they quite enjoyed being
- 2:43:28Speaker 4: in Iran in those days. It was a different country.
- 2:43:31Speaker 4: But I'm not sure I understand exactly the point, but
- 2:43:34Speaker 4: clearly whatever was happening then, Iran would have been our
- 2:43:37Speaker 4: ally protecting the straight and keeping it open so that
- 2:43:42Speaker 4: oil could flow to the United States. And I think
- 2:43:44Speaker 4: we were pretty dependent, and I'd have to go back
- 2:43:46Speaker 4: and look at the flows.
- 2:43:47Speaker 15: Absolutely, and not only that, but the powers that be
- 2:43:50Speaker 15: now are the ones that are changing hands of who's
- 2:43:54Speaker 15: getting the oil, and that's why these prices keep going
- 2:43:56Speaker 15: up in my estimation.
- 2:43:58Speaker 35: All right.
- 2:43:59Speaker 4: Well, there's a lot of trading activity, and I've got
- 2:44:01Speaker 4: to tell you, I'd love to see the books and
- 2:44:02Speaker 4: see who exactly is placing trades at what time relative
- 2:44:06Speaker 4: to what announcement from what country, because I guarantee you
- 2:44:09Speaker 4: these markets are being played differently. for billions of dollars
- 2:44:12Speaker 4: of profit while the world suffers with $ 5 gas. And
- 2:44:13Speaker 4: we're going to have energy shortages in some economies. These
- 2:44:17Speaker 4: traders don't care.
- 2:44:18Speaker 1: You're on the air with G2.
- 2:44:21Speaker 12: Three government branches build the wall.
- 2:44:24Speaker 1: All right, I don't know what that is. You're on
- 2:44:27Speaker 1: the air with G2. You're on the air with G2.
- 2:44:32Speaker 21: Yes, I believe a lot of this goes back to
- 2:44:35Speaker 21: the Lords of London and the insurance policies, and I
- 2:44:39Speaker 21: really do believe that Trump's trying to take them down.
- 2:44:42Speaker 6: Those people are just.
- 2:44:45Speaker 7: Caught in the race.
- 2:44:48Speaker 4: Look at the city of London, and don't think of
- 2:44:50Speaker 4: that just as London. It's a global phenomenon, but start
- 2:44:53Speaker 4: with the city of London and build out from there.
- 2:44:55Speaker 4: You'll find the 13 families, that whole thing. That globalist
- 2:44:58Speaker 4: cabal that controls Lloyd's uses Lloyd's for power. is really
- 2:45:03Speaker 4: probably the greatest enemy and the one that Trump is
- 2:45:06Speaker 4: fighting the hardest.
- 2:45:07Speaker 1: And you agree with the caller, G2? Yeah.
- 2:45:10Speaker 14: All right.
- 2:45:10Speaker 1: You'll have to explain that in more detail when we
- 2:45:13Speaker 1: talk again. You're on with G2. Quickly.
- 2:45:15Speaker 36: Yeah, you know, we have trouble with the cars and
- 2:45:17Speaker 36: we have trouble with the planes, but now we're having
- 2:45:19Speaker 36: trouble with the trains. So today, Amtrak, They had to
- 2:45:23Speaker 36: inform a small-town girl living in a lonely world that
- 2:45:28Speaker 36: they actually don't have anymore a midnight train going anywhere.
- 2:45:31Speaker 1: All right. Thank you, Unintelligent Call. Thank you, G2.
- 2:45:40Speaker 35: From ABC News, I'm Dave Packer. Secretary of State Marco
- 2:45:44Speaker 35: Rubio says the ceasefire with Iran is still on and
- 2:45:47Speaker 35: that Operation Epic Fury is now over.
- 2:45:49Speaker 1: The U.S.
- 2:45:50Speaker 35: He says now involved in a defensive operation to reopen
- 2:45:52Speaker 35: the Strait of Hormuz.
- 2:45:53Speaker 24: There's no shooting unless we're shot at first. OK, we're
- 2:45:56Speaker 24: not attacking them.
- 2:45:57Speaker 10: We're not.
- 2:45:58Speaker 24: But if they are attacking us or they're attacking a ship,
- 2:46:00Speaker 24: you need to respond to that. You're not going to
- 2:46:02Speaker 24: let some fast boat come up on the ship and
- 2:46:04Speaker 24: shoot it up.
- 2:46:05Speaker 35: As some ships are now transiting the strait with US
- 2:46:08Speaker 35: military assistance, oil prices still over $ 100 a barrel and
- 2:46:11Speaker 35: gas prices rising. The national average now surpassing $ 4. 50 a gallon.
- 2:46:15Speaker 35: ABC's Elizabeth Schulze.
- 2:46:17Speaker 33: We are still not at that all-time high for gas
- 2:46:20Speaker 33: when it comes to the national average. That was hit
- 2:46:22Speaker 33: under President Biden back in June 2022. We were at $ 5.
- 2:46:26Speaker 10: 03.
- 2:46:26Speaker 33: So that's kind of the all-time high. Some analysts are
- 2:46:31Speaker 33: saying if the straight stays closed through, for example, the
- 2:46:33Speaker 33: 4th of July, that's when we could be talking about
- 2:46:35Speaker 33: getting past that $ 5 mark.
- 2:46:37Speaker 35: Global health officials are investigating a suspected hantavirus outbreak on
- 2:46:41Speaker 35: a cruise ship into the Atlantic. Three people are dead.
- 2:46:43Speaker 35: Medics are working to evaluate sick passengers. The World Health
- 2:46:47Speaker 35: Organization saying it believes the strain being reported on the
- 2:46:49Speaker 35: cruise ship is called the Andes virus, found in South America.
- 2:46:53Speaker 1: The D.C.
- 2:46:54Speaker 6: U.S.
- 2:46:54Speaker 35: Attorney identifying the suspect in a shooting on the National
- 2:46:56Speaker 35: Mall yesterday. Jeanine Pirro says Michael Marks confronted Secret Service agents,
- 2:47:01Speaker 35: started running, pulling a gun, starts shooting at Secret Service.
- 2:47:04Speaker 35: They returned fire. The suspect then shot and in an
- 2:47:07Speaker 35: ambulance on the window of the hospital, Pirro says Marks exclaimed, F.
- 2:47:10Speaker 23: The White House and kill me, kill me, kill me
- 2:47:15Speaker 23: three times.
- 2:47:16Speaker 35: Pirro said that a teenager who was wounded in the
- 2:47:18Speaker 35: crossfire has been released from the hospital. There are a
- 2:47:22Speaker 35: number of primary elections across the Midwest today. We're watching
