In Mark 2:23–28 and Mark 3:1–6, Jesus confronts the religious leaders over their misunderstanding and misuse of the Sabbath. Through two encounters, Christ reveals that the Sabbath was never intended to become a burden of legalism, but was given by God as a gift and points ultimately to Him.
