- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 0:01Speaker 2: We have to Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Let's go from a championship backfield to your morning drive.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Hen'sday, Hester and Hester got it far aaa bah.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Your luck's in to off the bench.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Where let's strip control for the.
- 0:16Speaker 2: US live from the Raising Kine studio. Here's Jacob Hesser
- 0:22Speaker 2: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:27Speaker 5: For the next forty eight years of our lives.
- 0:30Speaker 6: I'll say that, all right, I'll.
- 0:34Speaker 7: Say for that.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Let's go out there and we'll play the.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Next twenty four minutes, for the next twenty four minutes,
- 0:42Speaker 5: and we'll leave it all.
- 0:43Speaker 7: Out on field.
- 0:45Speaker 5: We got the rest of our lives to the mediocre,
- 0:47Speaker 5: but we have the opportunity to play like gods for
- 0:49Speaker 5: the next half of football. But we can't be afraid
- 0:55Speaker 5: to lose. There's no room for fear in this game.
- 0:59Speaker 5: We go out there, are we half pass it because
- 1:01Speaker 5: we're scared? I would left with this n excuse. We're
- 1:06Speaker 5: always gonna wonder. But we are out there and we keep.
- 1:11Speaker 8: It absolutely everything.
- 1:15Speaker 5: That's heroic.
- 1:21Speaker 7: Speak. Heroes.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Come on, let's go West Cane and what do you
- 1:49Speaker 4: say boys?
- 1:51Speaker 8: Jonathan Moxon rest in peace. James Vanderbeek.
- 1:58Speaker 4: If you've ever listened to this show, do you know
- 2:02Speaker 4: how big of a fan we are. A Varsity Blues
- 2:07Speaker 4: of Jonathan Moxon, of James Vanderbeek, and also of Dawphin's Creek.
- 2:12Speaker 7: Yeah, pretty much all of his work.
- 2:13Speaker 8: Everything he did.
- 2:15Speaker 4: There was no other way we were starting this show
- 2:18Speaker 4: than the exact way that you just heard, with Jonathan
- 2:21Speaker 4: Moxon in the locker room getting the boys fired up
- 2:24Speaker 4: and ready to go, and.
- 2:25Speaker 7: The boys fired up.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I mean how often when you were playing, especially in
- 2:29Speaker 1: high school, we're all cheering and saying what do you say?
- 2:32Speaker 7: Boys? Yeah, just because how fired he gott tweeter right there.
- 2:36Speaker 7: That's right.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So we are with a heavy heart, of course. I
- 2:39Speaker 1: think everybody has kind of heard the news, especially if
- 2:41Speaker 1: you're a sports fan or if you have access to
- 2:44Speaker 1: any social media whatsoever. Certainly, James Vanderbeek passes away yesterday.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Battling cancer for quite some time.
- 2:53Speaker 7: Yeah, a couple of years.
- 2:54Speaker 1: A couple of years, so, h forty eight years old
- 2:57Speaker 1: and very sad, very sad. And we've seen I've seen
- 3:03Speaker 1: a lot of like clipse of him, you know, randomly
- 3:05Speaker 1: they had the I think the Dawson's Creek Reunion this
- 3:08Speaker 1: past fall.
- 3:08Speaker 7: I think we might have even watched a clip of
- 3:11Speaker 7: it on the show.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, the one he couldn't go to certainly certainly looked
- 3:14Speaker 1: like he was he was battling at the time, but
- 3:17Speaker 1: had lots of words of encouragement towards the end. And yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I think everybody has a heavy heart, and I hope
- 3:25Speaker 1: it was.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Yeah, six children, young children, it's always incredibly tough. And
- 3:32Speaker 4: I think the family, you know, because James Vanderby couldn't
- 3:36Speaker 4: work for a couple of years and he's got six children,
- 3:40Speaker 4: and they used a lot of their savings and different
- 3:43Speaker 4: things to try to beat cancer. And now is I
- 3:47Speaker 4: think they have a go fund me asking, you know,
- 3:50Speaker 4: if you could, if you're able to do so, uh,
- 3:53Speaker 4: to give to the family. So maybe we can put
- 3:55Speaker 4: that link up there as well. But all jokes aside. Man,
- 3:58Speaker 4: I quickly met him one time. He was incredible. Uh,
- 4:02Speaker 4: he played some of our favorite characters. Everybody has said
- 4:05Speaker 4: anything about him, it was, you know, all kind words
- 4:07Speaker 4: and what a family man he was. And so again,
- 4:11Speaker 4: if you know OTV, yeah, you know how much we
- 4:13Speaker 4: love Varsity Blues. So our Jonathan mox and Jersey is
- 4:17Speaker 4: going to be here. I don't know for how long.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Probably for a while, because we gotta pay respects to
- 4:22Speaker 4: QB one.
- 4:24Speaker 7: Maybe yeah, maybe forever. Why not? Can we get the
- 4:27Speaker 7: overhead view here, Taylor, look at that thing? Can go?
- 4:32Speaker 7: It's beautiful, it's beautiful. Maybe we get a wes Canan
- 4:35Speaker 7: Cayots helmet. That would be fantastic.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Letter jacket, certainly, Yeah, that would actually, that would be
- 4:48Speaker 1: pretty happy. So there's not a lot of reasons here
- 4:53Speaker 1: on this show that we would.
- 4:54Speaker 7: Skip the yo's right.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but Jonathan Moxon is only one man, and.
- 5:03Speaker 4: That might have to be another clip that we play. Guys,
- 5:06Speaker 4: the amount of times that I've used that in actual.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Interviews, I don't want your laugh.
- 5:13Speaker 4: I mean, you can't walk by somebody our age and
- 5:17Speaker 4: say that and someone not know exactly what you mean.
- 5:21Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying?
- 5:22Speaker 8: One of those iconic lines.
- 5:25Speaker 1: The senior ball or that.
- 5:29Speaker 7: Age.
- 5:31Speaker 8: Shout out to Cole Peyton from North Dakota State.
- 5:34Speaker 7: He'd seen it.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Who else Blake Shaping? Watch I feel like Blake Shape
- 5:39Speaker 1: and watch it like voluntarily? True, col Peyton, he looks
- 5:43Speaker 1: like he was forced to watch it. On the bus,
- 5:46Speaker 1: forced to watch it.
- 5:49Speaker 8: Forced he was given the opportunity.
- 5:51Speaker 7: Given the opportunity. What an opportunity, the.
- 5:53Speaker 8: Great opportunity to watch and now man Paul Walker.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Gone, James vander He gone, Billy Bob gone, just Tweeter
- 6:04Speaker 4: and Budd Kilmber left.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Worlds down there Saturday, Saturday, World's down A couple of
- 6:13Speaker 1: really good fake quarterbacks.
- 6:17Speaker 8: I say QB one even though he was QB two.
- 6:21Speaker 7: QB one.
- 6:25Speaker 8: Oh my gosh, I mean that that song by the
- 6:27Speaker 8: Food Fighters.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe it's the first of whose soundtrack that could
- 6:33Speaker 1: be great. We got a chance to play that. We begged,
- 6:38Speaker 1: begged to.
- 6:39Speaker 8: Play that.
- 6:41Speaker 4: One time an evangel because the only thing we played
- 6:44Speaker 4: was Braveheart. The instrumentals like.
- 6:49Speaker 1: When when are you playing this a pre game? Like
- 6:52Speaker 1: in the locker room? No no, no, like on the
- 6:54Speaker 1: PA system.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Oh kind of like when you come out too, Like
- 6:58Speaker 4: we were getting fires cool. It was cool, but you
- 7:01Speaker 4: need some words. We were getting Kirk Franklin stomp.
- 7:06Speaker 8: I mean, that's that's all.
- 7:07Speaker 1: We were getting pretty good though, great song after you've
- 7:11Speaker 1: heard it seventy third.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Time though, And so finally, finally we got him to
- 7:18Speaker 4: allow us to play it. As we came out of
- 7:20Speaker 4: the tunnel, we finally got food fighters. There goes my hero,
- 7:24Speaker 4: like in two thousand and one, two thousand and two,
- 7:27Speaker 4: somewhere around that time. Incredible chills thinking about it. And
- 7:31Speaker 4: I don't have many moments in high school that I remember.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I remember that, Remember that one. Yeah, good for you.
- 7:38Speaker 4: We did a lot of we ready.
- 7:44Speaker 8: Oh I knew you didn't have to sing it for me.
- 7:46Speaker 7: I'll sing it for the people. Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 1: So I got a great voice, you're ready, voice of
- 7:51Speaker 1: an angel except for a generation.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Except for that semi final game we couldn't win. That
- 8:02Speaker 4: was meaning I'm sorry, uh not. A lot of things
- 8:09Speaker 4: haunt me at night.
- 8:10Speaker 8: That's one.
- 8:11Speaker 9: It's one of them. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that spiders, spiders?
- 8:21Speaker 9: Why spiders so scary? Little ones, big ones? I mean
- 8:25Speaker 9: obviously the big ones. The scarier they are, the scarier
- 8:27Speaker 9: they are. All Right, that's a little weird, is it?
- 8:34Speaker 7: I think?
- 8:35Speaker 1: So that's that scene from the Replacements when they're like,
- 8:37Speaker 1: what do you fear most in life?
- 8:40Speaker 7: Like spiders, snakes? And he said, I don't think that's
- 8:44Speaker 7: the meaning what he's talking about? Good saying, Taylor t
- 8:51Speaker 7: of L like that one.
- 8:53Speaker 8: All right, so we do have a big show playing
- 8:57Speaker 8: for you today.
- 8:57Speaker 4: We're gonna have Kim Malkey join us. We're gonna have
- 8:59Speaker 4: Jay Johnson join us. We're gonna have chef Michael Johnson
- 9:04Speaker 4: join the show as well. But again, and there was
- 9:08Speaker 4: only one way that the show was gonna get started. Yeah,
- 9:11Speaker 4: and it was with Jonathan Boxing. And you might hear
- 9:13Speaker 4: from Jonathan boxon more than once today.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, certainly maybe some songs. I wanted to ask Doc Yester,
- 9:19Speaker 1: we didn't. I didn't get a chance to because we
- 9:21Speaker 1: were in ask some some other very important questions. And
- 9:26Speaker 1: maybe we'll ask him next week if we can, if
- 9:27Speaker 1: we can remember, maybe write it down. We think coach
- 9:32Speaker 1: Bud Kilmer got a bad rap for the medical practices
- 9:36Speaker 1: he was using on his players.
- 9:39Speaker 8: I swear Gop that Nato goes anymore close to.
- 9:41Speaker 1: His name, because I mean, like in high school, when
- 9:46Speaker 1: you're watching that for the first time, you're like, oh,
- 9:50Speaker 1: that's the worst thing you could ever do. But then
- 9:52Speaker 1: the more you go into athletics, you're like, yeah, shoot
- 9:55Speaker 1: me up.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Yeah. I think bub was just trying to be gritty. Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 7: let's go the needle in there. Dot. Yeah, it's number.
- 10:00Speaker 7: This baby up.
- 10:01Speaker 8: Can't remember a game where I didn't have at least something.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So I want to know if Bud Kimber got a
- 10:05Speaker 1: bad rap? Mmm, whereas players just.
- 10:08Speaker 9: Kind of maybe, I don't want to say that. I
- 10:11Speaker 9: don't want to say that. I don't want to say that.
- 10:13Speaker 9: I don't say that.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I just wanted to ask dot from a medical opinion,
- 10:19Speaker 1: did buy kim get a bad rap for his at
- 10:23Speaker 1: the time questionable medical practices? Yeah, Star that Okay, it's
- 10:29Speaker 1: worth asking two weeks.
- 10:30Speaker 8: From now when we're back here, because we're off next week.
- 10:34Speaker 7: In two weeks, I'll remind us.
- 10:36Speaker 4: We'll definitely remember uh, but we will remember to uh
- 10:41Speaker 4: honor and remember our guy GB one, Jonathan Mox and
- 10:44Speaker 4: James Vanderbeek rest in peace.
- 10:48Speaker 7: All right.
- 10:48Speaker 4: We will take a break kind of get everything back
- 10:51Speaker 4: on track if the show started.
- 10:52Speaker 8: When we jump back here on O TV.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Off the bench, all right.

- 14:19Speaker 7: But then you can do it.
- 14:21Speaker 8: Rolled into it.
- 14:25Speaker 7: And then later he's in a big game.
- 14:27Speaker 1: He's stopping the clock instead of spiking it. He hits
- 14:30Speaker 1: the mascot in the nose, right square in the nose,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and his dad's like, oh he must He feels his nose.
- 14:36Speaker 7: Like, oh, he hit me on purpose. Yeah, in the nose.
- 14:39Speaker 7: It's a good one. Well.

- 14:46Speaker 6: He knocked the guy off the horse, the one that
- 14:49Speaker 6: he hit in the nose.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like a beer or something.

- 16:20Speaker 4: All right, there's eleven former LSU Tigers that are headed
- 16:25Speaker 4: to Indianapolis in the NFL scouting Combine. We've got quarterback
- 16:30Speaker 4: Garrett Nesmeyer, receivers Aaron Anderson, berry On Brown, Chris Hilton,
- 16:35Speaker 4: Xavion Thomas, tight end Bower sharp edge rushers Patrick Payton
- 16:40Speaker 4: and Jack Pyburn, linebacker Harold Perkins, corner Monsor Delaine.
- 16:45Speaker 8: And safety A J. Hawsey.
- 16:47Speaker 4: All those players are going to be headed to the
- 16:49Speaker 4: combine to try to improve their NFL draft stock. So
- 16:53Speaker 4: eleven Tigers, I believe that is third most. I believe
- 16:58Speaker 4: A and M and Alabama the only team to have
- 17:00Speaker 4: more people headed to the combine. So a long list
- 17:04Speaker 4: of Tigers. Certainly a group that has got some guys
- 17:08Speaker 4: like a Gary Nessmeyer we've seen play here for a
- 17:10Speaker 4: long time, guys like Harold Perkins that played in LSU
- 17:13Speaker 4: uniform for a long time, and even some guys that
- 17:16Speaker 4: only played a year in an LSU uniform like A
- 17:18Speaker 4: Monsour Delaine and an AJ Hawsey. But certainly a good
- 17:21Speaker 4: group of Tigers heading to Indy with an opportunity to
- 17:25Speaker 4: better themselves.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a uh, it's it's a goal that you
- 17:29Speaker 1: set early in college. Right, you always want that opportunity
- 17:33Speaker 1: to at the end of the day, when you take
- 17:36Speaker 1: off that helmet for the last time in college, you
- 17:38Speaker 1: want to have that invitation. Now, the Senior Bowl and
- 17:40Speaker 1: all those all star games are great, and that's a
- 17:43Speaker 1: that's high praise, it's a high reward.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:46Speaker 1: It's it's the combine, Right, it's the it's the last
- 17:48Speaker 1: step or it's one of the last steps before the draft,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and it's a big deal.
- 17:54Speaker 7: And it's uh, you know, it's two or three days of.
- 17:59Speaker 1: The exhausting meetings, doctors meetings, and then the last part
- 18:04Speaker 1: is on the field stuff. It's basically they sleep deprive
- 18:07Speaker 1: you for two days and then they throw you on
- 18:08Speaker 1: the field to run a forty And but it's exciting.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So congratulations eleven players is incredible, especially when you when
- 18:16Speaker 1: you're looking back at the team, you're like, oh, what
- 18:19Speaker 1: in the best year? Right, we got eleven guys, third
- 18:22Speaker 1: most in the country. Yeah, so congrats to them. I
- 18:25Speaker 1: hope they do. This is one of those times that
- 18:27Speaker 1: certainly you can absolutely improve your draft stock. Whether you
- 18:32Speaker 1: agree with all that or not, but you have certainly
- 18:36Speaker 1: also heard it as well, So you got to go
- 18:38Speaker 1: and you've got to be prepared. It's and it's more about,
- 18:40Speaker 1: you know, everything is equally evaluated by From the NFL perspective,
- 18:46Speaker 1: it's certainly on the field. The guys that can that
- 18:49Speaker 1: go out there and they bump their draft stock a ton.
- 18:52Speaker 1: To the guys that run really fast right and look
- 18:54Speaker 1: really good doing it and physically have a really physical
- 18:58Speaker 1: presence out there, that's just a little bit different. But
- 19:01Speaker 1: I think a lot of the hay is made by
- 19:04Speaker 1: how well you do in your meetings, how well you
- 19:06Speaker 1: talked to these teams, because you are going to speed
- 19:09Speaker 1: date like crazy at this place and it's wild, and
- 19:12Speaker 1: then half your visit's going to be in the doctor's office.
- 19:16Speaker 1: So guys like Garrett Nessmeyer, he's going to have thirty
- 19:19Speaker 1: two team doctors poking pride and twisting doing all the stuff.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And by the end of it, when I went, my
- 19:26Speaker 1: experience was I was coming off of I had a
- 19:28Speaker 1: sprain ac joint sprained against Arkansas the last game of
- 19:32Speaker 1: the season.
- 19:32Speaker 7: I missed the SEC Championship.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I rehabbed and came back and played in the National Championship,
- 19:38Speaker 1: but I still wasn't one hundred percent.
- 19:39Speaker 7: I didn't.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I likeded not to play in the East West Shrine Bowl,
- 19:43Speaker 1: which I was invited to because I was trying to
- 19:45Speaker 1: get my shoulder well for the combine to go throw there.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And I felt great going to Indianapolis. Yeah, and then
- 19:54Speaker 1: by my last doctor meeting of thirty two doctors pushing it,
- 19:58Speaker 1: twisting it, including our guy doctor Banks, by the end
- 20:02Speaker 1: of it, my damn arm hurt because of the doctor
- 20:06Speaker 1: made it right. So it's it's just one of those
- 20:08Speaker 1: things you got to get through. You gotta do, you know,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and you're you're gonna spend a couple hours in the
- 20:14Speaker 1: tube get.
- 20:14Speaker 8: It in right, oh hours? He is not kidding, And
- 20:18Speaker 8: it's they're.
- 20:18Speaker 7: Not just one.
- 20:19Speaker 4: I didn't miss a game at LSU, not one, and
- 20:23Speaker 4: I was in there for hours. I'm like, man, I
- 20:25Speaker 4: don't I'd hate to be some guy that missed like
- 20:27Speaker 4: fifteen career games or a season hours. I never missed
- 20:32Speaker 4: a game. It is a like they want to see
- 20:36Speaker 4: if they can just warp your mind and what you
- 20:38Speaker 4: can handle. It's crazy and I don't know if it's changed.
- 20:43Speaker 4: And then after all that, then you go do the
- 20:44Speaker 4: on the field stuff.
- 20:46Speaker 8: Right and like teams back then.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Now the Falcons got in trouble for some of the
- 20:50Speaker 4: questions that they were asking, and so it changed a
- 20:53Speaker 4: little bit. But they would be out of pocket the
- 20:55Speaker 4: questions they would ask you because they wanted to piss
- 20:57Speaker 4: you off.
- 20:58Speaker 8: They wanted to see how mad can I get this guy?
- 21:00Speaker 8: Can't he handle it?
- 21:01Speaker 4: Can't he keep his composure and still get on the
- 21:04Speaker 4: whiteboard and draw protections and different things like that was
- 21:08Speaker 4: their goal. Think about that, like the biggest job interview
- 21:11Speaker 4: of your life. And they want you to mess up,
- 21:13Speaker 4: like they want you to get mad and see if
- 21:15Speaker 4: you can handle it. It's like nothing I had ever
- 21:19Speaker 4: done before. And you're right, like about speed dating, like
- 21:21Speaker 4: you go to all these teams, but then you have
- 21:23Speaker 4: formal meetings where you're going to go for an extended
- 21:27Speaker 4: period of time. Like for me, I remember just I
- 21:29Speaker 4: had the Jags, I had the Lions, I had the Seahawks,
- 21:34Speaker 4: and like walking through like Seahawks had everybody that's ever
- 21:36Speaker 4: been a part of their organization in this hotel meeting room,
- 21:40Speaker 4: like this long, big table.
- 21:44Speaker 8: It looked like it was out of the Adams Family movie.
- 21:46Speaker 4: And you walk in there and like all of them
- 21:48Speaker 4: are sitting there and everybody had a question that you
- 21:51Speaker 4: wanted to answer, and every team does it a little
- 21:53Speaker 4: bit differently, but it is pressure packed, to say the least.
- 21:57Speaker 4: And all of that, Like Matt said, it's before you
- 21:59Speaker 4: even get to the actual on the field portion. And
- 22:02Speaker 4: even once you get to the on the field portion
- 22:04Speaker 4: of it, you'll have heard me tell this story before.
- 22:07Speaker 4: They want to also mess with your mind there. For me,
- 22:11Speaker 4: like I knew what the fort the forty was for
- 22:13Speaker 4: me was going to be between a four five five
- 22:15Speaker 4: and a four to six flat. That's what it was
- 22:17Speaker 4: going to be. It could have been on the high
- 22:18Speaker 4: end of the low end, right, that's what it was.
- 22:20Speaker 4: And I ran four five nine and a four to
- 22:22Speaker 4: six flat right there.
- 22:24Speaker 7: I knew that.
- 22:25Speaker 8: So like that to me, wasn't the pressure thing.
- 22:27Speaker 4: The pressure thing for me, because I was trying to
- 22:29Speaker 4: prove back to play fullback, was the bench press.
- 22:31Speaker 8: What's your benchin?
- 22:33Speaker 4: Because I had to show that I was strong enough
- 22:34Speaker 4: to play fullback, and so I mean, I got my
- 22:37Speaker 4: wrist taped, I've got chalk on my hands, ready to go,
- 22:41Speaker 4: and they're like, ah, actually, this group, let's go take
- 22:44Speaker 4: the wonder lick test, and I'm like, hold up, like
- 22:47Speaker 4: I literally have chalk on my hand ready to go
- 22:49Speaker 4: to a bench press, but it was another test and
- 22:52Speaker 4: they wanted to bring you in this room to take
- 22:55Speaker 4: this wonder lick test. So you also you got to
- 22:57Speaker 4: prove you're not a big dummy. So you gotta go
- 22:59Speaker 4: do that, and then you go back to the bench press.
- 23:03Speaker 4: And then you've got this strength coach for the Cardinals
- 23:06Speaker 4: that's just yelling at you, hitting you in the chest.
- 23:09Speaker 4: He kept calling me raging Cajun. I'm like, wrong school, Bud,
- 23:12Speaker 4: It's not who I played for. Stop calling me raging Cajun.
- 23:16Speaker 4: And then like you got to go out there and
- 23:18Speaker 4: you got a.
- 23:18Speaker 7: Bench I'm not a raging Cajun.
- 23:21Speaker 8: Well that wasn't a football thing yet, but because I
- 23:24Speaker 8: didn't have two l's up, you get it.
- 23:28Speaker 7: Yeah uh yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 8: So like everything that that happens there, and then.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Like when you get on the field, you're there with
- 23:35Speaker 4: your peers and you're like, oh man, I get to
- 23:37Speaker 4: go behind Chris Johnson.
- 23:39Speaker 8: That's what running a four to two after his first time?
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah, no doubt, And it's it is just so many
- 23:48Speaker 4: different things rolled into one. It is a week that's
- 23:51Speaker 4: supposed to get you uncomfortable. How do you handle being uncomfortable?
- 23:55Speaker 4: And if you handle it, then that's going to give
- 23:57Speaker 4: you a positive check mark. Now, can it raise you
- 24:00Speaker 4: two to three rounds? Probably not unless you're just like
- 24:04Speaker 4: a receiver that runs a four to two three.
- 24:06Speaker 7: It's the real fast guy that helps themselves.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:08Speaker 4: Outside of that, you might can help yourself. You might
- 24:11Speaker 4: confirm some things to different teams. It's not going to
- 24:14Speaker 4: be the reason that you get drafted where you're at
- 24:18Speaker 4: like it's going to help you and confirm. It can
- 24:20Speaker 4: hurt you more than it can help you. I feel like,
- 24:22Speaker 4: and we talked about this at the Senior Bowl. It's
- 24:25Speaker 4: every everything that every one of these kids does. Every
- 24:30Speaker 4: day they wake up, every event they go to, everything
- 24:33Speaker 4: they do right now between the inlet last game in
- 24:38Speaker 4: college football till the beginning of September, everything they do
- 24:43Speaker 4: is to not get cut, not get scratched off a list,
- 24:48Speaker 4: not get fired from your job, and do keep have
- 24:50Speaker 4: the opportunity to keep playing football. It's every because all
- 24:54Speaker 4: thirty two of those teams, their job, the scouts job,
- 24:58Speaker 4: the general manager's job, the coach's job, is to find
- 25:03Speaker 4: a reason not to pick you or not to invite
- 25:06Speaker 4: you to be an undrafted free agent.
- 25:08Speaker 1: It's they're trying to They're trying. They have a list,
- 25:11Speaker 1: a huge list of people, just from thousands of people.
- 25:16Speaker 1: They have to scratch it off, they have to narrow,
- 25:18Speaker 1: they have to make their list. So they're looking for
- 25:19Speaker 1: any reason that you can give them. So that's why
- 25:22Speaker 1: the pressure is put on. That's why they try to
- 25:24Speaker 1: make you upset. They tried to get you out of
- 25:27Speaker 1: your comfort zone to see how you respond because football
- 25:30Speaker 1: is not a comfortable game, and so they want to
- 25:32Speaker 1: see how you respond. So it's one of those things
- 25:35Speaker 1: that it's certainly not fun, but it's a challenge and
- 25:38Speaker 1: it's the it is the goal of everybody to get
- 25:40Speaker 1: there and just and to your point, there's not a
- 25:42Speaker 1: lot of guys going there to help themselves.
- 25:45Speaker 7: You're going there to.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Either stay status quo, confirm what they believe in a
- 25:51Speaker 1: good way or negative way. But if you don't go
- 25:55Speaker 1: and accept the challenge of going to the combine, that's
- 25:58Speaker 1: a negative.
- 25:59Speaker 7: Oh for sure.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Yeah, did you have a team that you thought you
- 26:04Speaker 4: absolutely were going to go to after meetings and kind of.
- 26:07Speaker 7: How they spoke to you, Jaguars. That's so funny.
- 26:12Speaker 8: I felt like Jack del Rio and the Jaguars were
- 26:14Speaker 8: trying to.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Not draft me because when I went into the team
- 26:19Speaker 4: meeting with them, and I had a formal meeting with him,
- 26:21Speaker 4: so a scheduled formal meeting, and when I got into
- 26:23Speaker 4: that room with Jack del Rio, he threw every blitz
- 26:27Speaker 4: that he possibly had ever.
- 26:29Speaker 7: Ran before at me to see if I could pick
- 26:31Speaker 7: it up. Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 4: I was like, is he trying to find a reason
- 26:34Speaker 4: not to draft me? I'm talking about every blitz. I
- 26:37Speaker 4: mean we were on the board for the entire twenty
- 26:39Speaker 4: minute meeting and it was me with a marker on
- 26:41Speaker 4: my hand. Del Rio in a chair right in front
- 26:43Speaker 4: of the board. Hey, bring the will free safety. Hey,
- 26:47Speaker 4: I want you to bring corner cat. This is our protection.
- 26:50Speaker 7: How do you hint?
- 26:50Speaker 8: It's like, right, you want me to mess up, like
- 26:53Speaker 8: you don't want to select me?
- 26:54Speaker 7: Here?
- 26:55Speaker 1: I see I had So we had you have the
- 26:57Speaker 1: speed dating, which is like twenty minutes with every team
- 26:59Speaker 1: in this big over the over two or three nights
- 27:01Speaker 1: you sit down with I mean you're doing meetings till
- 27:03Speaker 1: midnight every night.
- 27:04Speaker 7: Yeah, with these teams, I.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Only had three of the private meetings. One of them
- 27:09Speaker 1: was with the Jags. They were the ones that talked
- 27:11Speaker 1: to me the most. They're the ones that's that the
- 27:13Speaker 1: their scouts were with me a lot. Yeah, Mike Shula
- 27:19Speaker 1: came down and privately worked me out and watched, like
- 27:21Speaker 1: spent a whole day or two with me here. They're
- 27:24Speaker 1: the ones that like tried to make me laugh in
- 27:26Speaker 1: the probably like they pulled up the meeting the picture
- 27:29Speaker 1: of me in spring break when I was like nineteen
- 27:32Speaker 1: years old, like, Hey, what's this? What were you doing here?
- 27:34Speaker 1: Said drink in your hand. I'm like, I don't know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: cold pop spring break, Bro, I don't know.
- 27:39Speaker 7: Uh look cold pop. Uh. Sorry. I liked the party,
- 27:43Speaker 7: so it was like one of those deals. I was like,
- 27:44Speaker 7: I'm going to the Jags.
- 27:46Speaker 1: And then during the draft, I think in the sixth round,
- 27:48Speaker 1: they selected a punter or a deep snapper and I
- 27:50Speaker 1: was like, wow, I that picture more than the hell,
- 27:54Speaker 1: I guess. I remember like the Packers, with the team
- 27:58Speaker 1: that I've talked to the least. I think I had
- 27:59Speaker 1: one meeting with their quarterback. It was Tom Clemens at
- 28:01Speaker 1: the time. I think I had one in like the
- 28:03Speaker 1: round table. It was like what was it the train
- 28:04Speaker 1: station room or the train station. Yeah, right, different from
- 28:09Speaker 1: the Yellows train station.
- 28:11Speaker 8: Yeah, this was they made it.
- 28:13Speaker 7: Yeah, we made it through.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I talked to him like for twenty minutes, and Tom's
- 28:16Speaker 1: kind of like a soft spoken guy, didn't say a lot,
- 28:19Speaker 1: and I'm like, well he wasn't interested in me at all?
- 28:22Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, I chargers pretty much like that for me.
- 28:25Speaker 4: I did take a visit out there, but like during
- 28:28Speaker 4: the whole process, I didn't talk a lot to them.
- 28:29Speaker 4: I thought I was going to the Lions for sure.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Like I was looking at apartments in Detroit, like I
- 28:35Speaker 4: was that sure I was going to Detroit because they
- 28:37Speaker 4: told me. I always asked every team like you got
- 28:41Speaker 4: anything for us? I was like, who's your fullback, who's
- 28:42Speaker 4: your starting fullback? Like what's the deal there? Like that
- 28:45Speaker 4: was you know whom I competing with? Yep, And I
- 28:47Speaker 4: remember they said you you are starting fullback. I'm like
- 28:50Speaker 4: all right, And remember Detroit was bad, bad during that time,
- 28:55Speaker 4: and so I was like, this is gonna suck, but.
- 28:57Speaker 7: Here we go. You would have gone and sixteen year year.
- 29:00Speaker 8: Yeah, it had have been fun. Maybe you would have
- 29:03Speaker 8: been teamates with our guy dig Dixon.
- 29:04Speaker 7: The next year. It would have been competing that had
- 29:06Speaker 7: been fun, I.
- 29:07Speaker 8: Guess so, yeah, because he kind of played h back.
- 29:10Speaker 1: True, he was playing tight end full back and actually
- 29:12Speaker 1: he was like on the roster for two straight years
- 29:15Speaker 1: and had hurt himself the last preseason game.
- 29:18Speaker 7: I know, like second half our.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Guy h LSU running back coach Kevin Smith would have
- 29:23Speaker 4: been the other guys competing with for running back snaps.
- 29:25Speaker 7: How about that?
- 29:26Speaker 4: Thank you, so good luck to all eleven LSU football
- 29:32Speaker 4: players trying to achieve the dream of hearing your name
- 29:36Speaker 4: called or seeing your name across the ticker coming up
- 29:39Speaker 4: at the end of April in Pittsburgh.
- 29:41Speaker 7: I hope we're all back on the nuts bus.
- 29:47Speaker 8: Top ninety. Pick around the room, I say, yes, top ninety,
- 29:52Speaker 8: top ninety.
- 29:52Speaker 7: Absolutely, what is that fourth round?
- 29:55Speaker 8: No, top ninety would be third round round. Yeah, I
- 29:58Speaker 8: think he goes late.
- 30:01Speaker 10: If we're going off of like the predictions and stuff
- 30:05Speaker 10: like that. He's like ranked to be the fifth quarterback
- 30:08Speaker 10: that goes in the draft. Now Drew Aller is ahead
- 30:12Speaker 10: of him on that, so I don't know how much
- 30:13Speaker 10: you can trust that, but yeah, I think he'd be
- 30:17Speaker 10: top ninety.
- 30:18Speaker 8: Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Yeah, and then there's that fight for three right yeah
- 30:23Speaker 4: between Drew Aller, k Klub, Nick, Garrett ands Meyer.
- 30:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I think this is going to be a quarterback draft class.
- 30:30Speaker 1: That is, you're going to have obviously a number one
- 30:33Speaker 1: overall pick, you might have Tye Go late first round.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Then I think there's going to be a drought yeah
- 30:40Speaker 1: in quarterbacks in the second and third round, and I
- 30:42Speaker 1: think it starts to pick up towards the end of
- 30:44Speaker 1: the fourth round. Certainly a run in the fifth round.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So I'm gonna say, I'm going to say over on
- 30:50Speaker 1: the ninety, the top ninety, Now, would I take him?
- 30:53Speaker 7: Yes? Do I think?
- 30:54Speaker 1: I think there's going to be a quarterback drought Yeah,
- 30:57Speaker 1: in the and then there'll be a lower to mid rounds.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's just not the strongest class, right, So.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I'm gonna say Rams in the third round. I'll even
- 31:05Speaker 4: give you the team. I fe like the Rams in
- 31:08Speaker 4: the third round.
- 31:10Speaker 7: I'm not ready to give you a team yet.
- 31:12Speaker 11: Well, respect definitely top ninety though.
- 31:17Speaker 1: The edge I said, he's a guy. He might be
- 31:19Speaker 1: a guy for the Packers. Just his style of play
- 31:23Speaker 1: kind of reminds me of Jordan Love a little bit, so.
- 31:26Speaker 7: You remind you more.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Okay, I've always said, I've always made the comparison between
- 31:32Speaker 1: him and Stafford.
- 31:32Speaker 7: Yeah, don't don't. Don't get me wrong.
- 31:34Speaker 1: So I agree, But I got to pick somebody else
- 31:36Speaker 1: like based on this past year, Like Jordan Love sits
- 31:38Speaker 1: there and throws off his back foot a lot. Well,
- 31:40Speaker 1: Garrett threw off his back foot a lot. I got you,
- 31:43Speaker 1: and he doesn't. And Jordan Love doesn't move around right.
- 31:47Speaker 4: All right, good luck to all those LSU Tigers as
- 31:50Speaker 4: they head to Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine. When
- 31:53Speaker 4: we come back, we got to talk about one of
- 31:56Speaker 4: the biggest snubs in NFL Scouting Combine history. I'll tell
- 32:00Speaker 4: you who that is and which player we're talking about
- 32:03Speaker 4: when we come back here.

- 34:42Speaker 1: You've been locked into the Olympics. It's give mean a
- 34:50Speaker 1: lot to you. It's Team USA and.
- 34:52Speaker 4: If Gordon Bombay was there, I'd be watching it and
- 34:54Speaker 4: I will watch when hockey presents itself. When I say that,
- 35:00Speaker 4: I haven't and again I'm not trying to, but I
- 35:05Speaker 4: haven't watched a single second unless it's been in this studio.
- 35:09Speaker 7: Tell us how tough your nuts are.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 35:13Speaker 4: And they've been through the fire before us and they
- 35:15Speaker 4: come out on the other side of five kids.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Well, USA is third in the metal count currently, Norway one,
- 35:23Speaker 1: Italy two was just kind of fun the home country,
- 35:27Speaker 1: so I were said. With four gold medals, six silvers
- 35:29Speaker 1: and three bronze, that's thirteen total metals if you're keeping
- 35:33Speaker 1: count at home.
- 35:34Speaker 7: So off to a.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Pretty darn good start. I think they've a couple of
- 35:38Speaker 1: silver medals that they were hoping for gold. Quick recap
- 35:43Speaker 1: from yesterday, the events from yesterday.
- 35:47Speaker 7: Yesterday, there was.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Some exciting stuff avenue. Well, we were locked in. Fun
- 35:51Speaker 1: family was locked in to the ice dancing last night,
- 35:54Speaker 1: which is not figure skating.
- 35:56Speaker 7: They don't do like a lot of the spins. It's
- 35:58Speaker 7: just a impressive dancing, just as dancing dancing.
- 36:04Speaker 1: So America had one of the favorites, Madison Chuck and
- 36:08Speaker 1: Evan Bates, seven time US champions, three but the married couple.
- 36:14Speaker 7: The married couple yep, and not not the same last name.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Uh.
- 36:17Speaker 7: Three time world champions, defending world champions.
- 36:21Speaker 1: They take home the silver medal last night, and they
- 36:25Speaker 1: were fairly disappointed. They got beat by a French couple.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I'm not even gonna try to say their names, but
- 36:32Speaker 1: I'm there's a little outrage at this. So the guy
- 36:37Speaker 1: on this French team, he is the defending Olympic gold
- 36:42Speaker 1: medalist with a different partner who they retired their team.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Him and his other partner, they were tired like a
- 36:47Speaker 1: year ago, a little bit over a year ago. His
- 36:49Speaker 1: new partner, they've only been together for since like last spring,
- 36:53Speaker 1: last March or something like that, which is an incredible
- 36:55Speaker 1: feat to like be this good at that, like only
- 36:58Speaker 1: being partners for that long. I think the American couple
- 37:01Speaker 1: they've been skating together for like fifteen years. Well, the
- 37:07Speaker 1: girl for the French team is Canadian and she was
- 37:11Speaker 1: granted French citizenship three months ago and they just took
- 37:18Speaker 1: him the gold.
- 37:19Speaker 7: Medal last night. Coolbeck, I'm assuming.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Probably the French Canadian part. I don't know, a little
- 37:25Speaker 1: bit of outrage. Well, they are these new like the
- 37:28Speaker 1: the US team has been the favorites, the three time
- 37:30Speaker 1: world champions, they've been the dominant force, they've been crushing it,
- 37:34Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, this new dream team gets together.
- 37:37Speaker 1: A French, a Frenchie and a Canadian get together and
- 37:41Speaker 1: they win it. Well, disappointing, but anyway, we got the
- 37:46Speaker 1: silver medal, so the ads to the medal count we
- 37:48Speaker 1: did get.
- 37:49Speaker 7: Take him a gold medal, Jordan Stols, Stoles or Stolts,
- 37:53Speaker 7: I don't know what it is.
- 37:55Speaker 1: In the speed skating, he is the most dominant man
- 37:57Speaker 1: on skates, the fastest guy on skates on the planet.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Takes some of his first gold medal. I'll say his
- 38:02Speaker 1: first because he got four events and he is the
- 38:04Speaker 1: favorite in all of them.
- 38:06Speaker 7: He is from Wisconsin as well.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Really cool story that they played last night about how
- 38:10Speaker 1: he got started in the speed skating. And then Klok
- 38:13Speaker 1: Kim snowboarder. She is a two time defending gold medalist
- 38:16Speaker 1: in the half pipe. She won in twenty eighteen in
- 38:19Speaker 1: peong Chang, twenty twenty two in Beijing. And she's actually
- 38:23Speaker 1: a girlfriend of Miles Garrett, NFL sack leader Miles Garrett.
- 38:27Speaker 7: Nice. Yeah, then we won.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I'll see this guy named Ryan Cartland Siegel won an
- 38:32Speaker 1: alpine skiing.
- 38:33Speaker 7: He won the silver.
- 38:34Speaker 1: And then today looking forward to today, I can't wait,
- 38:37Speaker 1: can't wait too.
- 38:37Speaker 7: I'll get to the office.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I always have it on the office, have it in
- 38:39Speaker 1: the background that I'll watch the Prime Time with the
- 38:41Speaker 1: family at night.
- 38:42Speaker 7: We love it.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I got men's moguls, Women's Super G, men's snowboard cross
- 38:46Speaker 1: which is awesome, Women's half pipe finals, and speed skating
- 38:50Speaker 1: finals today, so it's gonna be a good day.
- 38:52Speaker 7: There's curling, there's hockey action pack, Jake, I'm going.
- 38:58Speaker 8: To tune into the hockey.
- 39:04Speaker 7: Twitch stops.
- 39:05Speaker 6: I watched that alpine skiing last night.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I enjoyed it.
- 39:09Speaker 6: I was pretty They go like seventy five miles an
- 39:12Speaker 6: hour downhill they did getting out of turns.
- 39:14Speaker 7: And like they're just like, it's unbelievable.
- 39:17Speaker 1: These speed skaters are on skates, rolling around, turning left
- 39:23Speaker 1: in a circle and they're going like thirty five forty
- 39:25Speaker 1: miles an hour. Problem with speed skating.
- 39:27Speaker 6: I can't take it seriously because I only think of
- 39:29Speaker 6: deck the Halls when Matthew brought Uk and Dann DaVita
- 39:32Speaker 6: race each other.
- 39:33Speaker 1: That's all I think of.
- 39:37Speaker 7: I think of Dan Janssen, American legend.
- 39:41Speaker 8: Am I the only one that's not dialed in like Flynn?
- 39:44Speaker 6: No, I'm not dialed in like Flynn. Like I'll have
- 39:46Speaker 6: it on background. Like last night wasn't much else going on.
- 39:50Speaker 6: I watched a little cites Se Mississippi State basketball and
- 39:53Speaker 6: then it was kind of back and forth.
- 39:54Speaker 7: But yeah, it's lock into that one.
- 39:58Speaker 1: You know, I was locked into either one.
- 40:03Speaker 8: Miss Yeah, absolutely, do you say yourself up for that one?
- 40:07Speaker 1: Well?
- 40:07Speaker 7: And how about you?
- 40:08Speaker 11: You you I haven't really been watching much of it.
- 40:11Speaker 8: Okay, she had to work a remote yesterday.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:15Speaker 11: I didn't really watch anything yesterday. I watched like half
- 40:17Speaker 11: an episode of Love Island and that was it. But no,
- 40:21Speaker 11: I'm not super locked into I'm watching.
- 40:26Speaker 10: So there's like a guy named Rob on The Traders
- 40:29Speaker 10: and he was on Love Island, so I'm watching his
- 40:31Speaker 10: Love Islands.
- 40:32Speaker 4: You know who I was watching the interview is a
- 40:34Speaker 4: huge Love Island fan, Bradley Cooper. He was doing an
- 40:39Speaker 4: interview and I think it was Will Arnett who was
- 40:42Speaker 4: like doing it because they do a lot of stuff together.
- 40:44Speaker 4: And he's like, you're gonna tell me you're guilty pleasure
- 40:46Speaker 4: or whatever. He's like, I love Love Island and he
- 40:49Speaker 4: starts going through like all the stories.
- 40:52Speaker 11: I love it.
- 40:54Speaker 7: Jenny go South, that's say southing.
- 40:56Speaker 1: So the speed skater for the USA, that's like the
- 40:59Speaker 1: fastest guy s case, the Jordan Stoles guy. They did
- 41:03Speaker 1: like a little special line like a little heart warm
- 41:04Speaker 1: and like this is a story. This is where he
- 41:06Speaker 1: came from, you know, like build build your build, your
- 41:08Speaker 1: Olympians up from your country. They were talking about his
- 41:12Speaker 1: like his origin story of how he got started. Like
- 41:14Speaker 1: five six year old Jordan Stoles was watching the Winter
- 41:17Speaker 1: Olympics and watching Apollo Ono win gold medal and that's
- 41:22Speaker 1: how he wanted to do it. I was like, oh
- 41:24Speaker 1: my god, I feel like that was like last year
- 41:26Speaker 1: when Apolo was in the Olympics.
- 41:28Speaker 7: Now you don't remember because he had.
- 41:30Speaker 11: The longer hair, yes, and I haven't heard that name
- 41:33Speaker 11: in years. Like that just set me back to that's the.
- 41:36Speaker 7: Guy you watched growing up. Boy, we're getting that is wild.
- 41:41Speaker 7: How does that make you feel patriotic?
- 41:47Speaker 11: I do need to get into his speed. I do
- 41:49Speaker 11: really like watching speed skating. I don't know why it's
- 41:51Speaker 11: so entertaining.
- 41:52Speaker 7: It's good people going fast.
- 41:54Speaker 11: Didn't Jake Paul's wife.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Or something like that from the nether one and ones
- 42:00Speaker 1: on gold was that that was over the weekend. Yeah,
- 42:03Speaker 1: that was one of the first first gold medals given.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I think Saturday or Sunday.
- 42:06Speaker 11: I saw a video of him like sobbing in the crowd.
- 42:08Speaker 7: Yeah, guess is John's Okay, I guess. So they didn't
- 42:15Speaker 7: get it broken.
- 42:16Speaker 11: In half, hit a wired shut that Okay, I can't remember.
- 42:21Speaker 4: We gotta take a break. You're right, still got a
- 42:24Speaker 4: big show planned for you, Coach Kim Mulkey. Coach j
- 42:26Speaker 4: Johnson stayed locked in OTV off the bench. All right,
- 42:30Speaker 4: We've been telling you over the last couple of months
- 42:32Speaker 4: there is a brand news star in downtown Baton Rouge
- 42:35Speaker 4: and then it's valleys of Baton Rouge, casino and hotel.
- 42:38Speaker 4: And I actually think right now because obviously it opened
- 42:41Speaker 4: kind of at the end of the football season, so
- 42:42Speaker 4: you didn't have a chance to come down from all
- 42:45Speaker 4: different parts of Louisiana and Texas and Mississippi to go,
- 42:48Speaker 4: you know, enjoy it during a football weekend.
- 42:51Speaker 8: But we got great news for you.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Softball, baseball weekends, women's basketball, huge game on Saturday against
- 42:57Speaker 4: South Carolina.

- 43:13Speaker 4: right there for you.

- 44:01Speaker 8: movies make When I hear this song, I think about

- 44:04Speaker 11: I switched to Dawson's Creek.

- 44:35Speaker 8: the songs you heard on.
- 44:36Speaker 7: Dawson's nine to ten AM, but after athletes aren't supposed
