- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Adam here. And in this hypnosis session,
- 0:42it's all about releasing A compulsion or a regular habit of
- 0:48cocaine use. And I was working with a client
- 0:52that would find themselves using cocaine on their own or in
- 0:55certain social situations. And it wasn't doing what it used
- 0:59to do for them. It used to really give them a
- 1:01feeling of kind of elation and joy and real connection with
- 1:05other people, but it had stopped doing that and it just felt that
- 1:09it had taken more than it was giving.
- 1:12It had a lot of pain, particularly around their their
- 1:15nose it was causing. Fatigue it was.
- 1:18Causing them to feel guilt and shame and all of this thing was
- 1:22actually hindering the quality of their life rather than
- 1:26enhancing it. Now this particular client
- 1:29didn't want to have a future of no cocaine use.
- 1:33A lot of my clients that work with me do want to become
- 1:36completely abstinent. They don't want any relationship
- 1:39at all. This particular client just
- 1:41wanted to dramatically reduce the amount that they have.
- 1:47And as I was working with this client, it kind of dawned on me
- 1:50that is very similar with the relationship with sugar that I
- 1:53used to have and the kind of relationship with sugar that I
- 1:56now have. I used to have a very kind of
- 1:59sweet tooth and I would have lots of energy drinks and lots
- 2:01of sweets and candy and chocolates and confectionery.
- 2:06And really it's ruined my teeth as a result of all of that, my
- 2:09teenage and 20s having all of that sugar.
- 2:14Now I'm very discerning with how I have sugar.
- 2:17I'll have it on special occasions or maybe dessert after
- 2:21a nice meal, but I'm not having anywhere near the amount of
- 2:24sugar that I used to. It's still in my life, but I'm
- 2:27very discerning about when and how I have it.
- 2:30And this client wanted that kind of relationship, but with
- 2:33cocaine. They wanted it in very kind of
- 2:37sparse moments where they feel that it was worth it for them
- 2:41and their value system. And I appreciate some people
- 2:44would listen to this and say like, you know, it should be no,
- 2:47never. And that's completely fine for
- 2:49any individual. I've never taken any
- 2:51recreational drug in my life, and I don't plan on doing that.
- 2:55But that's my value system. And as a therapist, I don't
- 2:58project my value system onto my clients.
- 3:00I respect their value system. And my job is to help my clients
- 3:04achieve what they want to do. And this particular client
- 3:08wanted to be very discerning with how they used it.
- 3:11And that's what this session is all about.
- 3:13It actually uses some elements of role models.
- 3:18They had a few people that they knew that used to be very
- 3:21hedonistic, have a lot of consumption of various drugs and
- 3:25now? Didn't.
- 3:25So that was irrefutable evidence that change can happen, that
- 3:29it's possible to change that relationship.
- 3:31It also has a metaphor of being a goldfish in a bowl, seeing
- 3:36everyone else enjoying life and they can't.
- 3:38And there's a a reframe here. So the bowl, rather than
- 3:41becoming the restriction of being not allowed to have
- 3:45certain substances, is being allowed to kind of have it but
- 3:49not wanting it. That's the discernment.
- 3:51And actually cocaine then becomes the bowl, because in
- 3:54many. Cases people feel.
- 3:56Trapped by a habit or an addiction?
- 3:59There's lots going on in this session.
- 4:01But if you feel that maybe it isn't cocaine for you, maybe
- 4:04it's a different thing that you just want to reduce the amount
- 4:06of. You should.
- 4:07Get some value from this, but please be aware it was created
- 4:10for an individual. Many of the suggestions are
- 4:12highly specific to the client that I was working with.
- 4:15They might not quite be relevant for you, so just ignore any
- 4:18suggestions that aren't, hone into the ones that are.
- 4:21And if you like the idea of working with me directly to get
- 4:25a bespoke session, there will be a link in the description where
- 4:28you can find out different ways of working with me.
- 4:31For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 4:34won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:03Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in and
- 5:12slow, long, relaxing breath, and as you exhale, give permission
- 5:22to release any feeling of tension, any guilt, any fatigue.
- 5:33Just allow it to leave your body as you breathe out, each breath
- 5:42giving you the ability to drift inward, enabling you to feel
- 5:51deeper and deeper. Relaxed eyelids getting heavier,
- 5:58breathing slowing down. There is a place in your mind,
- 6:07perhaps deep, where change happens quicker, a place in your
- 6:15imagination. So as you breathe in and breathe
- 6:20out, just imagine your body starting to float, floating up
- 6:28and up. And then you realize your body
- 6:32is where it was, but there is something else floating.
- 6:39You might think of it as your imagination, your intuition, or
- 6:42your subconscious. Something is floating and I want
- 6:49you to imagine that part, to float to a paradise reef.
- 6:58I want you to imagine crystal clear waters, sunshine, and I
- 7:05want you to imagine descending into the reef surrounded by
- 7:14tropical fish. Now you might imagine yourself
- 7:23with a snorkel or a scuba mask, or maybe you imagine yourself as
- 7:28a fish. But I want you to imagine what
- 7:32it would feel like to see every other fish exploring the reef.
- 7:42And you can't. You are in a fishbowl, submerged
- 7:48in the water, seeing the vibrant activity of the reef, and yet
- 7:58you can't access it. And I want you to feel that in
- 8:04the past you felt that in order to escape the fishbowl, you
- 8:11needed to do something or take something to be included.
- 8:19But I want you to imagine something else.
- 8:24I want you to imagine what it would be like if you were the
- 8:28most discerning fish in the reef.
- 8:33Because that fishbowl wasn't to prevent you from interacting
- 8:38with the other fish, it was to protect you from a part of
- 8:43yourself. And what if discernment can
- 8:48protect you more than the fishbowl ever could?
- 8:56I want you to imagine the fishbowl dissolves and you can
- 9:01now interact with all the other fish there in the reef.
- 9:07Vibrant, colorful fish, fish having fun, feeding, having all
- 9:17the fun in the reef. But now you are the most
- 9:22discerning fish because some of those fish, they are feeding on
- 9:34rotting fish of fish that have recently died.
- 9:42They are looking for food in the dirt.
- 9:46But I want you to imagine you are the most discerning fish.
- 9:52You are only interested in exceptional experiences.
- 10:01I want you to imagine rising your criteria for what it takes
- 10:08to be worthy of you. Real experiences, real emotions,
- 10:25real connection, but most of all, real joy.
- 10:35For a while you were looking for synthetic substitutes for real
- 10:41joy, the illusion of joy, the illusion of ecstasy and
- 10:46happiness. But many times by consuming the
- 10:54illusion, you deprived yourself of the reality.
- 11:03And I want you to imagine swimming around the reef, seeing
- 11:08other fish doing things that you don't consider worthy of you
- 11:14anymore. No Fear of missing out, No Fear
- 11:22of losing an experience, because your experience is different.
- 11:32And I don't want you to imagine seeing a portal, almost like a
- 11:42glowing circle there in the reef, as you imagine leaving the
- 11:50reef and finding a staircase of smooth stone the moment you pass
- 12:00through the portal and no longer a fish.
- 12:03You are you, but feeling just as discerning as that fish in the
- 12:09reef. 54321 going through the portal, finding yourself at the
- 12:15top of a staircase, A staircase made of smooth stone.
- 12:23And very soon I will count downwards from 12:50, and with
- 12:30each descending number you will take a step down the staircase,
- 12:34feeling deeper and deeper, relaxed.
- 12:40That's it. Starting to count. 10 First step
- 12:50down the staircase 9. Letting go of tension 8.
- 12:55Relaxing the muscles in your face 7.
- 13:00This is the step where you release the past. 6 breathing
- 13:07calm into your body. 5 halfway down, now feeling safe. 4 deeper
- 13:16still. Three another step down the
- 13:21staircase, peaceful and grounded.
- 13:26Two almost there. And one I want you to imagine at
- 13:33the bottom of the staircase is the place within you where truth
- 13:40lives. So one and then zero, you're
- 13:46there in that place. And in this calm inner space, I
- 13:53want you to imagine a full length mirror.
- 14:01And as you stare into the mirror, I want you to see
- 14:05someone that you know. Someone then used to be wild,
- 14:13reckless, impulsive, chaotic. Someone who lived at full speed.
- 14:25But I want you to see them not as they were, but as they are
- 14:29now. You can see it in their eyes.
- 14:37A calm strength, a new level of discernment.
- 14:45Discernment is simply the line that separates things you're
- 14:49willing to do and not willing to do.
- 14:55Not through willpower, but simply through a realization
- 15:04that it doesn't serve you anymore.
- 15:09And as you raise your standards, discernment gets higher.
- 15:15And I want you to get a feeling, a feeling of connection to that
- 15:23change. They found something that you
- 15:30now begin to feel stirring in yourself.
- 15:35A quiet confidence, a deep sense that life is richer without that
- 15:47feeling of compulsion, that feeling of fatigue and guilt, a
- 15:59feeling of pain, disappointment. And as you observe them, part of
- 16:07your subconscious begins to wonder that maybe the universe
- 16:12put them there in front of you for a reason.
- 16:17That if they could change, maybe I can too.
- 16:25And you don't need to know how, and you don't need to know when
- 16:32only that something is clicking or will soon click.
- 16:39And from that moment on you just won't want it anymore.
- 16:48At least not in the same way. And I want you to imagine what a
- 16:55switch would look like there in your brain.
- 17:01It's clicked for something else. And what if it clicks for this
- 17:05new thing, too? And you can begin to notice now
- 17:13how the mind once associated cocaine with excitement,
- 17:19pleasure, energy, the forbidden fruit.
- 17:27I want you to look at it with new eyes, knowing everything you
- 17:33now know. I want you to see the truth
- 17:39beneath the facade. Just like a person can come
- 17:45across in one way, but be really different underneath.
- 17:51I want you to imagine that cocaine can look appealing,
- 17:55exciting, pleasurable. But you know the real cocaine,
- 18:04It doesn't give joy, it steals it.
- 18:11It doesn't create confidence. It borrows it.
- 18:16And living and leaving the debt of guilt, shame and exhaustion.
- 18:24And how many times did it promise more but give back less?
- 18:33Every lion took little sparkle out of real moments, Moments
- 18:38that could have been fun, connected, alive, but instead
- 18:45become blurred, hollow, and forgettable.
- 18:51What if cocaine doesn't free you from the fishbowl but imprisons
- 18:55you in it and somewhere deep inside your unconscious is now
- 19:03re evaluating that it takes so much more to give you less
- 19:11value. The cost is simply too high.
- 19:15And not just money, but peace, self respect, and real
- 19:23happiness. And if this realization turns
- 19:32from knowledge that you already know into discernment that you
- 19:35actually feel, let me know by nodding your head.
- 19:47Consider this all part of what helps to make that switch click
- 19:55as you begin to feel an inner shift.
- 20:00A decision forming at the level of identity where you simply
- 20:07know that's not who I am anymore.
- 20:14These people that have been brought into your life, their
- 20:19identity has changed, which is why they don't need willpower.
- 20:26Just doesn't fit with the evolved version of them.
- 20:34They are offering you a blueprint away because that's
- 20:40what the clique represents, an updated identity.
- 20:47And from this moment forward, I want you to imagine you becoming
- 20:55more discerning than ever before.
- 21:01It's as if your inner radar can instantly detect what's worth it
- 21:08and what's not worth it. And you can still enjoy life,
- 21:15still celebrate, still socialize, but only in those
- 21:20specific circumstances that truly bring connection, joy, and
- 21:27meaning. And cocaine?
- 21:32Don't be surprised if it simply doesn't meet the criteria
- 21:37anymore. A lot of what your recent
- 21:43experiences were wouldn't have met the criteria that are in
- 21:49place now. And what if your discernment
- 21:55protects you? A quiet, effortless instinct
- 22:01that says, no thanks, I'm good. And what's strange, what's
- 22:11powerful, is that it doesn't even feel like resistance.
- 22:18It feels like freedom. The switch has truly clicked
- 22:25when you don't need to fight, don't need to struggle, don't
- 22:29need to use willpower, you simply don't want it.
- 22:34And I want you to imagine going back to that mirror and now
- 22:43seeing you in the future, perhaps six months or a year
- 22:48from now, living that life of discernment where your
- 22:55consumption is a tiny percentage of what it once was.
- 23:01That could be negligible, or it could be only in very certain
- 23:08situations. And I want you to imagine
- 23:12stepping through the mirror into the shoes of that future version
- 23:17of you. And I want you to imagine
- 23:21yourself in the very circumstances and situations
- 23:25that you used to use frequently, but now through this discerning
- 23:31version of you, it no longer meets your criteria.
- 23:40It becomes easy for you to say, no thanks.
- 23:45It becomes easy for you to just leave an environment, a
- 23:49situation that isn't giving you joy.
- 23:57Becomes easy to delete certain numbers from your phone that
- 24:02used to be a gateway to accessing.
- 24:08And there is No Fear in deleting or blocking those numbers
- 24:11because you don't want it anymore.
- 24:17But I want you to notice in this future how much more pride you
- 24:22have, energy you have exercising, working out, playing
- 24:28more sport, having more real joy from real social interactions.
- 24:36The substance was stealing your joy, not giving it, and
- 24:43sometimes you have to escape that to realise it was always
- 24:50the fishbowl and never the reef. Breathing in discipline, wisdom,
- 24:59discernment and stability, and breathing out old cravings, old
- 25:05patterns, old parts of an identity that just doesn't fit
- 25:11anymore. Let it all dissolve.
- 25:19That's it. Gone, irrelevant, outdated.
- 25:26And if you could imagine that future, the future of more joy
- 25:32but much, much less cocaine, let me know by nodding your head.
- 25:49I want you to get a feeling your discernment will be tested.
- 26:01There is no failure, only feedback.
- 26:05But the clue to whether or not you've been discerning is guilt
- 26:10or shame. When you truly meet your
- 26:13standards, you can be proud of your choices.
- 26:19But if you fall short of that line that represents
- 26:22discernment, guilt, disappointment, or shame will
- 26:28come not to punish you, but as a feedback loop to let you know if
- 26:34you're moving in the right direction.
- 26:38Until it will be day after day of no guilt, no shame.
- 26:44And that lets you know that you're operating in this new
- 26:51identity with that new level of discernment.
- 26:55And there will be physical clues.
- 26:59There's pain around your nose, sleeping better, eating better,
- 27:09feeling stronger, smiling more. And I wonder how soon it will be
- 27:17until that Switch clicks into place and you get a life of much
- 27:24more joy and much less guilt and shame and exhaustion and pain.
- 27:33Maybe that Switch has already been clicked, or maybe it's on
- 27:38its way. It's time to leave this place.
- 27:43Float all the way back to your present, but taking a new
- 27:48feeling of discernment, a new meaning that cocaine steals joy
- 27:55doesn't give it. A feeling that some things just
- 28:01aren't worth it. Representing that new level of
- 28:05discernment and looking forward to a future more freedom, more
- 28:12health, more happiness, and more real joy.
- 28:16So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 28:21nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 28:24wiggle your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 28:27here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 28:35you. Starting to count. 123 waking
- 28:39up, 456 more alert. 7-8 open. Your eyes open.
- 28:44Your eyes 910 Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
