- 0:01More frequently than not, the spiritual aspirant has both a
- 0:05great upward aspiration and a corresponding not that he needs
- 0:10to work out which is the counterpart to the upward
- 0:12capacity. It is the dynamic tension
- 0:15between the two that forces him to persevere.
- 0:20He will either give in to the lower impulse or find a way to
- 0:25work it out, dissolve it, eliminate it, and realized the
- 0:29highest potentiality of his being, the mother observes.
- 0:34Quote. I have known people with such
- 0:37opposite sides in their nature, so contradictory, that one day
- 0:41they could make a magnificent, luminous, powerful formation for
- 0:45realization, and then the next day a defeatist dark black
- 0:51formation, a formation of despair.
- 0:54And so both would go out. And I was able to follow in the
- 0:58course of circumstances, the beautiful one being realized,
- 1:02and while it was being realized, the dark one demolishing what
- 1:06the first one had done. And that is how it is in the
- 1:09larger lines of life, as in its smaller details and all that.
- 1:14Because 1 does not watch oneself thinking, because one believes 1
- 1:19is the slave of these contradictory movements.
- 1:22Because one says, oh, today I'm not feeling well.
- 1:26Oh, today things seem sad to me. And one says this as if it were
- 1:30an ineluctable fate against which one could do nothing.
- 1:35But if one stands back or ascends a step, one can look at
- 1:39all these things, put them in their place, keep some, destroy
- 1:44or get rid of those one does not want, and put all one's
- 1:48imaginative power. What is called imaginative only
- 1:53in those one wants and which can form with one's highest
- 1:57aspiration. That is what I call controlling
- 2:001's imagination. It is very interesting when one
- 2:05learns to do it and does it regularly.
- 2:07One no longer has time to feel bored, and instead of being a
- 2:11cork afloat on the waves of the sea and tossed here and there by
- 2:16each wave defenselessly, one becomes a bird which opens its
- 2:20wings, flies above the waves and goes wherever it wants.
