- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Reclaiming Consciousness.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: My name is Elise Bassine, spiritual mentor, breathwork practitioner, and owner and CEO of Elise Breeds.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: For many years, our consciousness has been hijacked by societal and cultural programming, religion, the media, and familial and ancestral trauma.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Right now, during this epic time in history, people are waking up, realizing who they really are, and reclaiming the pieces of their consciousness that they unknowingly gave away.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: This podcast is an exploration of how so many spectacular humans are leading the way in exiting the matrix and reclaiming who they really are and what they're capable of.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: In this show, you'll meet exceptional people who are paving the way in raising consciousness and creating a new way of living on this earth.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Get ready to go deep.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Now let's dive in.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Hi everyone, welcome back to the show.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: This week's episode is so good, you guys.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: You are absolutely gonna love it.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So this week I'm talking to Taylor Ferber, and Taylor used to be an interviewer on the red carpet.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: She worked for E and Us Weekly, and she used to interview celebrities on the red carpet.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: So she has the inside scoop of like what was really going on in Hollywood.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: She interviewed Kim Kardashian, which she tells us about, and she just really experienced the fakeness and craziness of what really goes on in Hollywood.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And the other thing that was so powerful for me about this episode is Taylor's an interviewer.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: That is what she does for a living.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And after we finished this episode, she told me that it was one of the best interviews that she ever had, meaning, like I asked really good questions.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And that was so exciting to me coming from her.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And I was just asking what I thought everyone would want to know, but we go really deep and it was really, really good and very, very interesting.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: So I think you guys are really gonna love this.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Taylor's just so cool.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: She's kind of like a renegade where she just got really sick of dealing with the all the red tape and not being able to say what you want to say in Hollywood.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And she kind of just like went out on her own and is making her own way.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And it's really, really cool.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: She's very inspiring, and I think you guys are really gonna love her.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: A couple announcements, actually, just one really important announcement today.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So I got the download that I am going to be hosting an event on June 28th at 4 p.m.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Eastern time, and it's called Accelerated Wealth.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: And this is going to be an activation to accelerate your capacity to hold wealth.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to be transmitting to you the specific coding and frequencies that we will need to hold wealth in the new age because this is a completely different frequency.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: It's a completely different way of working with energy and working with the energy of money, wealth, and abundance.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And this has kind of been downloaded to me as I have grown in my business and as I've stepped into this new paradigm of wealth creation.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to be teaching it to you.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: And it's going to be an activation, a frequency upgrade that you can expect a complete perspective shift and definitely tangible results in your life.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: And it's going to be really powerful.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: So this is going to be on June 28th at 4 p.m.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: And until June 20th, if you sign up before June 20th, it's only$44.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So this is kind of a no-brainer.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And you will also be invited to work with me in a very specific way that no one else will be who doesn't come to this.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: So it's very exciting.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: And if you feel the pull, jump on it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: We will put the link in the show notes so everyone can sign up easily.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: So yeah, definitely join us.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: This is going to be a wildly powerful activation for you.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So without further ado, enjoy the episode.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Hi guys, welcome back to the show.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: So you guys are gonna absolutely love today's guest.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: So we have Taylor Ferber, who is deemed the celebrity whisperer by Playboy.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Taylor spent years working red carpets, interviewing countless A-listers like Oprah and Kim Kardashian, and covering Hollywood's biggest events from the Oscars to the Grammys.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And she's contributed to sites like USA Today, Vulture, and US Weekly, and is known for her revealing celeb selfie stick interviews on her site Talk to Me Taylor.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Now she gives a completely unique take on pop culture on her cutting edge podcast, Cancel Me Baby, where she challenges norms and says what we're really thinking in an irreverent way that breaks out of political lines and PC boxes.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, those couldn't be more aligned.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Welcome, Taylor.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Elise.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Long time no see.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: And the show that you actually were on, and we had a really good time.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: I was just telling you off air how my listeners have been loving it.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: So very much aligned in a lot of ways.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Going against the man.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes, we love that's what we're all about here.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: And everyone should go listen to that episode of Cancel Me Baby and all the other ones too.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: But so I just want to dive right in.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Like, tell us the whole story.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Tell us how you got into Hollywood and what that experience was like and like all the dirty details.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: So, in a nutshell, it's funny that, you know, your show called Reclaiming Consciousness.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Again, we were talking about this off-air and doing what feels right to us.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And honestly, it just might as well like be tattooed on my ass because I never, I never did everything like everybody else.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: I always kind of went against the grain.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: So it all started when I was a red carpet reporter in Hollywood and I worked for the biggest platforms, you know, Us Weekly, Vulture.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: And I had the access.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: I was meeting all the big people.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: I was at all the big events, but I hated what I was out there to ask.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: I didn't care.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I didn't care about, oh, your friend, you know, so-and-so's getting a divorce.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: What's it's been like, what's it, you know, losing your baby weight.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I didn't care about that stuff.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: I wanted to get into, you know, deeper issues that I felt like we talked about behind closed doors.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: So I took my access, I took my position, and I thought, how do I make this my own?
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: How do I do what I want to do with it?
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: So I went out with a selfie stick.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: So you have everybody who, like, you know, with the e-microphone and like the really fancy cameraman.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: And I just literally went rogue with a selfie stick.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: And they loved it.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'm sure.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, they loved it.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Like I have a great video of Michael Douglas grabbing my nose, kind of like your grandpa would, you know, like, is this video?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: What's going on?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: And in the meantime, I got them to really open up, like be so human, almost be like a peer and um talk about things, you know, like we were throwing back shots at the bar, you know?
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: So what happens but the pandemic shuts down Hollywood?
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: And in the meantime, mind you, I was always kind of that voice in pop culture saying what no one would say.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I wrote really provocative op-eds, I spearheaded, uh, which we talked about on my show, an unprecedented project and Playboy about free speech.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: And uh the pandemic shut down the industry.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: So I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and I really reinvented myself and went for my show, Cancel Me Baby, which again is unlike anything out there.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: It's just breaks out of all these boxes.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: I feel like everyone's so over it.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: It's either like these neat little boxes of like PC or left or right.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: And my show just says screw it to all of that.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: And I talk about pop culture again.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: It's like kind of like what we're thinking, but no one wants to quite say.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: So, you know, and I bring in all my celebrity stories and and all that, but um, you know, I'm just not afraid.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: That's why it's called Cancel Me Baby.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: It's like, I dare you, you know, come at me.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Well, first of all, I do want to know before we kind of get into the celebrity stuff, because I really want to know that too.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: But I also want to know, like, what was it like, like the journey for you to get to this point of like getting into Hollywood and doing all this?
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Like, did you always want to do that?
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Or like, how did you end up in that, like getting there?
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: I love that question.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: And it's so funny because when I was on the other end, you know, when I was interviewing celebrities and people would be like, I love that question.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: I don't know about you, but I'd be like, Thank you, as if it was like such a you know compliment.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: But um I always was actually your listener, your listeners will appreciate this.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: So there's home videos I have.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: I don't know, maybe 12.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: You know, most kids are off at camp, like having their first kiss.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: I was in my basement doing home videos impersonating Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daly.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: So it's funny because my friend, who's really into spirituality, said to me a couple of years ago, she's like, it's almost as if your soul knew what you wanted before you did.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: So I was always really drawn to pop culture and entertainment, just all of it, you know, the larger-than-life allure of it.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: And um I started at VH1 in New York City in the TRL building, but I was doing kind of like bitch work.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: I was doing like behind the scenes, like producing this or that.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: So I literally one day like went up to the head of editorial and I was like, I want to work for you, I want to write for you, I want to interview the stars for you, and just really took the bull by the balls and did it.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And then once I was in New York, I knew I wanted to go out to LA.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: So it was kind of the same thing.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: I was like, so I want to go to LA and either you can come with or not, but I'm going with or without you.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: So I went out for VHO, but it's evolved because you know, I feel like, and this is again like a lot about your show is like stepping into your power.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: I feel like a lot of the times people tried to shove me like behind the scenes, even still, you know, oh, you'd be great at producing or writing this or writing that.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: And writing has always been my first love.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: But, you know, I really thrive connecting with people on camera that way.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: So I had back to the selfie, like I had to make it happen for myself.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: I was like, they're not gonna do it.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: If they're not gonna put me out, I'll do it myself then.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: So you asked VH1 if you could go to LA and would they say no?
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: No, they were like, okay, go ahead.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: And do you know what I did, Elise, when I first got to LA?
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: I took a VH1 fancy cubed microphone out of a storage closet and just went out on a carpet.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Like I took it upon myself because I'm like a VHC.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Oh my God, that's so badass.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: That was before the selfie stick.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: So then it was funny because I always thought I wanted to be like a Juliana, Ryan C.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Crest.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: And I saw right away how plastic it was, which is why I did the selfie stick.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: I was like, there's so much more here.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: There's so much beneath the surface that people aren't talking about.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: So again, like took it upon myself, whether it be through op-eds, through my own site, to kind of air that stuff out.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: So give us some like stories of like celebrities that you met and like stuff you asked them.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: And then also, I know probably some stuff got shut down, right?
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Where people were like, oh, you can't ask that or you can't say that.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, a story I love is my Ray Romano story.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: It was right on the cusp of cancel culture.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: So it was like right before COVID was like percolating.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: And but you were already starting to see it.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: You were starting to see like people apologizing and getting punished.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: And I was at of all things an event honoring comedians, which to me, like comedians are the ultimate F you to cancel culture, right?
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Like David Appel, icon.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: So I asked the comedians there about it.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: And Ray Romano said to me, You have to be able to take a risk.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: And he even made a joke.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: He's like, otherwise, everyone will be boring like me.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: And that is just straight up boring.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: So you were kind of already starting to see that, but I love what he said.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: He's like, you know, you have to be willing to take a risk, otherwise, we'll never move forward.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Nothing will be cutting edge, you know, nothing will push a boundary.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: On the flip side, I've had so many times when people have said to me, You can't run that.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: You, you, you know, you can't.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: It was so controlling.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: I talk about it on my show all the time.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: I remember one time I interviewed Nicole Scherzinger.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: She was promoting Moana.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: And it was at the Disney headquarters and Burbang, like the whole thing.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: And she's herself is Hawaiian.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: So obviously, Moana's all like, you know, Hawaiian culture.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: And she and I are like sitting on the floor, might as well have been sharing like bonbons, like, like really having a great time.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: And she kind of took a dig at the movie Lilo and Stitch.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: She said she didn't thought that it was good at representing Hawaiian culture and all this.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: And before I could even leave the room, and right there, I'm like, that's a story.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: You know, that's interesting.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Probably the most interesting part of our conversation.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Before I could even leave the room, the Disney publicist like might as well have pulled my arm out of its socket, being like, Don't you dare run that.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Oh my God.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Do you have to listen to them?
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Like, what if you did run it?
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: How does that work?
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: In one of my recent episodes, I compared this seems extreme, but I compared an entity like Disney.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: It was actually with Allie Levine in Allie's episode.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Ali was on my show too.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: So everyone knows her.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: And it's almost like the form of a Harvey Weinstein because these entities, obviously, Harvey Weinstein's a much more aggressive example, extreme, but these entities are so powerful that they, if say I were to run it, they would be like, it'd be the equivalent of Harvey Weinstein being like, Well, you're never working in this town again.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Disney would be like, good luck ever coming to any of our events ever again.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: That kind of thing.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: So it's a lot of that all the time, which obviously I got really exhausted by.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because then it's like, what can you really do?
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: A hundred.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: And that's why even my selfie stick site was starting to get so again on the cusp of cancel culture.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: It was starting to get so tiresome because it was like that control times a hundred.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: People were so on guard.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: You know, you get a list beforehand, you can't say this, you can't say that.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And obviously that's against everything I'm about.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: But the blessing is it's almost I always say my show is like my site was cancel culture before its time.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: It's like I kind of was like had this fucking attitude out on the carpet, and that's what is, you know, my show now.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: So yes.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Would celebrities be open to it, or some of them would and some of them won't wouldn't?
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Here's what's so fascinating, Elise.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: I started my site in 2016, and you had again like the Michael Douglas grabbing my nose, right?
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Danny DeVito is, you know, shooting the shit with me on the carpet.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: We're joking because he's only like pushing four feet.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Like he's so small.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I'm five one.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Is he that short?
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know he's short, but like I don't know if it's like four feet or five feet.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know like the exact number.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you this.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I'm five one and I was wearing these heels, and he was like coming up to my boob.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, we're on the selfie stick, and I'm joking with him, like this is awkward, like the boob eye, like you, your eyes are you, I might as well be breastfeeding you.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: So he's like, Okay, well, take your, you know, he's like, take your shoes off.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: So again, it's like, and I did, and it's all on camera and it's so funny.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Well, you're the one, you know, who was joking about the boob eye level thing, stuff like that.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: I feel like it was funny, like cut to, you know, three years later would never fly.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: It was so crazy how in such a short amount of time people became so on guard, you know.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and like, why do you think that is?
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I think social media messed a lot up because people would tell me before I came on the Hollywood scene how even behind the scenes, like at parties, celebrities would, when they say let their hair down, like they would be doing coke and make it out with this person and that.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: And even like that became vanilla and boring.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: With social media, nobody wanted to get caught saying or doing or slipping up.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: So I think that just like having a camera all the time ruined everything.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, how could it not?
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Because anyone could videotape you doing anything at any time.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Exactly, exactly.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And like I said, it was this increasingly luring, you know, cancel culture environment was on the cusp which I think a lot of people were starting to pick up on.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Because if someone said one controversial comment, it would be picked up and circulated, and nobody wanted to be in that position, you know, even still.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's so crazy.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: This is really just an interesting phenomenon that I feel like I am wrapping my head around.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: And I do think there's so many components to it and so many reasons why it's happening.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: And I know on your show we talked a little bit about like the woke culture and all of that.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: But why do you think it started to happen where like everybody now is offended about everything?
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: I think again, social media has such a big part in it because everybody, not only does everyone have a say, I always talk about this on my show.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: It's like everyone thinks they're they're so entitled, they're the most important, their say goes.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: And on top of it, it sort of became this thing where if you were offended, you were right.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's exactly what it is.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: You're not right.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Like you know what I mean?
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I talked about it on the episode I dropped today.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: It's like if someone hurts your feelings, where do we get the audacity to like make someone be accountable or blame it on someone else?
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: It's like that's life.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Sorry, we're adults.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Like, not everyone's gonna agree with you, not everyone's gonna make you feel good, too bad, move on.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like, you know, I was talking a little bit on your show about this idea of the inversion, right?
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Where everything gets inverted.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Yes, which was fascinating.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: And I feel like this is part of it too, right?
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: Because part of this whole woke quote unquote culture ends up being this culture where we blame other people for our feelings or our experience.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: And that is the most disempowering thing that we can do because that literally gives all of your power away.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: And this is what I always talk about on my show with my clients.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Like, all we're doing is going on a journey of reclaiming our power.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: So if we're told that it's someone else's fault that you're offended, that literally is the epitome of giving your power away instead of owning your feelings, looking at why you're triggered and doing the healing around that.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: I couldn't agree more.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: A really controversial take I have on this, and that I'm obviously like from my experience in Playboy, and something I'm really passionate about is about women, the whole idea of like, I hate these buzz words, but like smash the patriarchy and toxic masculinity because I can't stand it.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Because it's not that I'm naive to the past, I'm not naive to this, you know, social structures that have been put in place.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: But I just feel like if you go out into the world with that mindset, it's it's exactly to your point.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: You're already disempowering yourself.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: If you're navigating through the world and you're like, oh man, someone's gonna be sexist to me today or this or that.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: It's like you're giving away all of your power.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: And that's what I hate about it.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: And I can't tell you, Elise, how many they all just drink each other's Kool-Aid in Hollywood and now it's so fake because we know they're not really all buying this shit.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: Some are, yeah.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: But I can't tell you how many like female-centric events I would cover where they would talk about this over and over and applaud each other, you know, over their caviar, you know, this women's summit, that women's conference, and it's just such a joke.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: It's like, you know what?
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: If you really wanted equality, why don't you invite men here?
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: You know, it's all of it.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, I saw it constantly.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, and I I can tell how that would be so exhausting.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Uh so I guess take us through the story of how like you kind of went from Hollywood to what you're doing now.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: And I know COVID had something to do with it, but like, so how did that all unfold for you?
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: It's crazy because I launched the pod.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: I was like, What's a podcast?
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: You know, I launched it with a friend of mine who was another red carpet reporter.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: I kid you not.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: It we literally launched it in like the March of COVID first happening.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: When we were hearing about it, we're like, wait, it's just weird virus.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: And it was a version of my show.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: We would kind of like, it was very irreverent, again, politically incorrect.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: We would tell our carpet stories, but it was really supposed to be like, we didn't know the industry was gonna shut down.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: So our plan was to shoot the shit about events we went to and kind of shit on them in a way, joke about them, whatever.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: But then the the pandemic happened, right?
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Everything shut down.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: And I just knew I wanted to do this once we started.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: I was like, you know, and again, like a version, almost like an a branch off of my show, like continuing the dialogues I would have on the carpet.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: So she ended up leaving the show and I rebranded.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: And over the last year and a half, it's just become so much more like what I'm about, my thing, my message.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: And, you know, every now and then I'll have actors promoting a movie, but I'm not gonna ask them, you know, what was it like working on this movie?
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna ask them about, you know, the real stuff.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: And, you know, really like I'll have on case makers and people in the media who are really honestly like other people don't get.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: And I managed to have really like revealing conversations with them.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: I recently had on Dave Portnoy, who founded Barstool Sports on my show.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: And that was really fascinating too.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: So it was a blessing in disguise because it kind of like pushed me to what I wanted all along.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that's what happened for me with COVID too.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: I call it like the first wave because I feel there was like the first wave of people like when COVID happened that kind of got pushed into what they really want to do.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: And that was really me.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: Like I had I started my business in 2020, in early 2020, like January.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: And I was a school counselor.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: How funny is that?
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: And then in March, March 13th, we went home and I never went back.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: We went home March 13th.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: I started running my business fully because, like, you know, I had to work, but it was like very minimal because I was home and there was not a lot a school counselor can do online.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: So I just started running my business.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: It started taking off.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: And then I did go back in September, but it was still virtual.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: And then by December, I quit my job.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: And then starting in 2021, I was fully running my business.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: And that's just an example of what I think happened for a lot of people.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: You know, and then I think the second wave, this is my little theory, but once they started implementing all of like the mandates and stuff for workers, I feel like there was kind of like a second wave of people that quit their jobs that kind of got forced to really be like, okay, well, what do I actually want here?
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: And then I think there was kind of a second wave of people, but I think we're seeing so many people really stepping into what they actually want to do.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: I'm curious for your take on, I feel like there's with that said, there's a split of people, people who are doing what they want to do, like you said, and going back to what was because it's comfortable.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Even though so much has changed.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: And I don't know about you.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, until recently, I can't tell you how many times I would say, oh man, I would see my friends once Hollywood started opening up again, you know, being on red carpets and being like, oh, I miss it.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Like before COVID, you know, a year or two before COVID, I would come cake and scream.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: I was like, I'm I'm better than this.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: I don't want to be doing this.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: I feel stuck, I feel trapped.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: So I was so unhappy for aforementioned reasons on the carpet scene.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: So it's funny, it's almost like a relationship.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: You, you know, you glamorize it and fantasize it.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: You know, I thought about, you know, on a spiritual level, what it says about people who really are taking the leap and taking the jump versus the ones who are just going back and doing what was comfortable and what they know because it's what they knew.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, my listeners know I always talk about this author who channels the Pleiadians.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Her name is Barbara Marciniac.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: And she's been talking about this time in history for a long time.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And the way she describes it is she says, like she calls it the splitting of the worlds.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: And she says that it's going to be split between the people who trust and the people who don't trust.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: And I find that to be really profound because I feel like it's really true because people who are willing to step into, even if they don't fully trust, right?
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: But they're willing to step into this level of trust in themselves, trust in the universe, then they start living in this whole different reality.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: And then there's the people who don't trust themselves who might not be willing to take that leap that are kind of clinging to the old ways.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: Well, you know what, Elise, you and I talked about this in my episode because I asked you about society rewarding you for doing what's comfortable and safe.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: And just to like expose some of that a little bit, right?
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: So, like in my case, I had a good life in Hollywood.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: It wasn't what I ultimately wanted, but it was lucrative.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: I had my own really cute apartment.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: I was engaged with friends and out and about and meeting all these cool people, right?
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: But I wasn't happy with what I was doing.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: So now I find myself, you talk about trust and faith.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: I feel like it literally has become my religion because it has to, because here I am now fighting for what I want.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: And I am essentially a form of couch surfing and working a part-time job side side hustles, right?
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: So I have to have that faith to keep me going because I can't tell you how many times on a daily basis I say, Do I go just do this full-time thing, doing some behind the scenes digital, this, that, the other thing that I don't want to do, but at least it would provide a means to have my own place and do all this.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: And, you know, again, I won't.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: I grapple with it every single day, but I'm just like, you've come too far.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Like I can't, but that's kind of what I was getting at at you know, society rewarding you for doing what's like right in front of you.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Because that's what we're programmed to do is like have a job and whatever, have a house and have kids and all of these things.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: But that's not for everyone.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: And listen, I'm not saying everybody needs to be an entrepreneur, but I also think there's merit to doing what is aligned for your soul and what you know you're meant to contribute on this planet.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what more and more people are stepping into.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: So also, I guess I'm just curious for you too, what is your ultimate goal, or where do you see yourself going with all of this?
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: My big goal is to be a voice and really a force that has impact in pop culture.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: So I look to people like Bill Maher, Joan Rivers, and especially now more than ever, what we're seeing out there is such a joke.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Every late night hole, they're all just carbon copies of one another.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I feel like I really have something to say.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And especially this, it's kind of like contradictory to what we were saying earlier about like women separating themselves.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: But like, especially as a woman, I feel like I don't see anyone out there like me.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: You know, I feel like I think about it and I'm like, who are the women who have really, you know, made their mark as like a talk show, whatever it is, you know, in media?
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: And of course, Joan Rivers icon.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: But I feel like newer now, you have the Samantha B's and the Chelsea Handlers.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: And again, I just feel like they're all kind of carbon copies of themselves.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: So I really want to be that voice that so many people hear and are like think kind of a version of my show now that's like, thank you.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Thank you for saying it.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: I had lunch with a girl today and she said, You're the voice in my head.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: I know it sounds creepy, but that meant everything.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: No, because it's like you're saying what people are thinking, but they don't want to say because of like this cancel culture, because they don't want to be politically incorrect.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: It keeps making me think this is really funny, but last year for my kids' birthday party, my kids wanted a pinata.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: And my husband was like, listen, with the way everything's going, I don't want anyone to get offended.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: We have a pinata.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know if somebody speaks Spanish.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: And I got where he was coming from, right?
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Because he's always saying this stuff of like, can't do anything anymore because somebody's gonna get offended.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Is that not hysterical?
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: I know it's so funny.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: So true.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Well, it's funny because in my episode I dropped today, I talk about pop culture and this whole idea with clothing, like Abercrombie and Fitch and even Victoria's Secret.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: In my episode today, like to your point about what you can and can say, I feel like it hits every button.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: It's like it talks about plus size stuff and race and trans and lesbians.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Like it just literally, I'm like, well, it's packing it all into this one episode.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: But I kind of just feel like, yeah, there's a self-censorship going on.
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: That's what's like so crazy to me, is even if it's like something as silly as like buying a pinata.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: And like sometimes I'll even find myself at like meeting someone, and I want to be like, what ethnicity are you?
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: Like when you can't quite tell.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: I know it's like, what do you say?
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: And that's like the point of my show.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: It's like we have to just come out with it because it's so absurd.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: Well, it's interesting too, because I feel like we've been talking about we are in this process collectively of like this awakening, right?
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Like awakening to our gifts, awakening to who we really are, and being authentic to ourselves.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: And I think energetically, the way that I see it is there's always kind of this like polarity, right?
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: So, like while we're in this process of this awakening to our true selves and our authenticity, we're seeing like the opposite where it's like you have to like act this certain way or say these certain politically correct words, or you're gonna be ostracized, right?
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: So it's like these two polar opposite energies at play, which I think is really interesting.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: That's the irony, how it's just gotten, you know, you ask, how did it get so far?
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: It's like the idea of woke, right?
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: In theory, should be about, you know, here I am and society that wouldn't have me before, but I'm gonna spread my way, take me as I am, you know, that whole thing.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: And now it's become this like cult-like orthodoxy where it's like you have to think this, or else you're gonna get punished.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: And it's it's so ironic because it's exactly in theory what they're supposed to be against.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: It's so crazy.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, I know it's so crazy.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: So I can tell, like, you definitely are like, okay, I'm not going back to Hollywood.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: But is there anything that you do miss about it?
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: And then also, were there any celebrities that you met that you felt like were A, oh, this person is really authentic, or B, this person is really fucking fake.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's so good.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: First, what I miss about it is it's so funny.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: Like, we're all such brats because we all want what we can't have, you know, whether it be your the grass is always greener.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: It's so funny because I would complain about it.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure this shed a light for a lot of people during the pandemic, but I would complain about it constantly.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: I'd be like, Oh, here I have to go to this stupid event in downtown in traffic to brush shoulders and schmooze with these people that I don't care.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: And meanwhile, I would have friends around me being like, shut up.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: You know, you're getting blind and dying, you're meeting all these really cool people, all these influential people at this really cool event.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: And it's just so funny.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: It's like, be careful what you wish for because there I was home in Connecticut, isolated for a year and a half, you know.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: So that was like God's way of being like, You sure about that?
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: So all of that I definitely miss.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: It's fun.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: And, you know, getting ready for award shows and having people dress you and style you, you know, all that, of course, is is fun, you know, the spontaneity of it.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: So that's what I miss definitely for sure.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: Now, as far as your question about authentic and not, well, let me do the not first.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: And I hate to say this because I feel like she gets a lot of crap.
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: And I prop her up on my show just because I think she is, whether you love her or hate her, I do think that she is a marketing genius, and I think she's as successful as she is for a reason.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: But I interviewed Kim Kardashian.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: I knew you were gonna say that.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: I knew you were gonna say that.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wasn't saying that.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: You know, and this again, I think speaks to the weird dichotomy of our culture because she's the queen of the influencer reality TV, right?
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: In theory, reality.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in theory, reality.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: And you would think like this is the most peeled back, what you see is what you get person.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: And I don't mean this in a bad way because she was so sweet.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think she has a mean bone in her body, but so again, guarded and controlled.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, what you can't say, what you can't, and even talking to her, it was like these premeditated, you know, spitting out answers like a robot kind of thing.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: And would you go as far as to say that it's kind of felt like hollow or shallow, or maybe there wasn't a whole lot behind what she was saying?
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: Because that's the vibe that I get when I'm just even when you're talking about it and I'm like tuning into your experience, that's what I'm feeling, is just like there wasn't a whole lot there.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: And I rarely would get nervous beforehand.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: There's a few times, like so like Steven Spielberg, I was like shitting my pants just because I was like, This is Steven Spielberg, like Oprah and Kim Carnashian for whatever reason.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: And and it's also just like the setting I think got in my head.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: It was at this very exclusive hotel tucked into Bel Air.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: You're in a room with her alone, with you know, eight entourage people and publicists and this and that.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: And it's so quiet and it's just they're watching your every move.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Not to mention, they had prepped me beforehand, being like, Don't you dare ask about Kanye, about this, about that.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: So I just again, against everything I'm about, like so controlled and what you can and can't do.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: So I think I let that get in my head a little bit.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: But yeah, so that was, you know, not surprising.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: Not surprising.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: So what did they tell you you couldn't ask about?
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: Well, at the time, it was when Kanye's Sunday services was a huge thing.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: And every weekend it would be like Brad Pitt was that, you know what I mean?
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: So that was like a big thing going on.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: And so they were like, don't ask about Kanye.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: And I can't remember what else.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Then you kind of probably feel like you're second-guessing yourself because you're like, Well, what do I say?
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: What do I ask?
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Like it's kind of putting you in this place where you don't feel like you can actually be yourself.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: So here's a plot twist of what was really sad about what unfolded there.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: So I was covering that for a site called Refinery29, kind of like a smaller indie, like cosmopolitan, right?
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know that site.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: And they wanted me to ask about Kanye.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: And obviously.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: But it also is like unfortunate.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: It's like really, like of all the things, I don't know, it's whatever.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: She was there promoting a new sunglass line.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: So I just felt like on their end, it's whatever, it's clickbaity.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: I get it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: But they put me in a really bad position, which would happen constantly.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, I worked for Us Weekly.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't tell you how many times they wanted me to ask people uncomfortable stuff.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: So I just feel like, you know, they put me in a weird position because the team was clearly like, don't.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: So I had an interview with Kim.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: Again, I don't even remember what was said.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: It was clearly nothing groundbreaking because nothing sticks out to me to this day.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: But the magazine ended up saying, you know, since you didn't get her to talk about anything with Kanye, we're not running it.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: So the interview never ran.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: It's nowhere to be seen.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: It's only in my memories and on like a photo on Instagram.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: So that was unfortunate.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm sure that's how most of these things go.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: I'm guessing with these bigger celebrities, it's just kind of like there's no getting in there.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: Like you're not gonna know what they don't want you to know.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: But on the flip side of that, I feel like there were people that were really refreshing and who really wouldn't give a shit.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Two examples that just pop up because there have been so many.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Again, what we were talking about earlier, how stuff when I first started conversations and interactions that would never happen even two, three years later.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: And I was so like fresh on the scene, like wide-eyed with my selfie stick.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: I interviewed Peter Faccinelli.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Who's that?
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: I don't know who that is.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: So he's in Twilight, but I think he's like a huge keen heart throb from like the um 90.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: I think he was in 90210 or something like that.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: But I didn't even know.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: I guess at one point he was married to Jenny Garth, who's from 90210.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: I didn't even know this, right?
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: That's how like wide-eyed I was.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: But I talked to him about losing your virginity talk with his daughters and like a hunt.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: And he's like talking to me about it.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Can you imagine having a conversation with a celebrity like that now?
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Out on a record.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: They wouldn't, they'd be there, it'd be no way.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: That was one that was cool.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: And then also Caroline Ria was cool.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: So she again with the cancel culture.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: She was in Sabrina, the teenage witch, she's a queen and one of the ants in Sabrina.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: And at the same event as Ray Romano, you guys should check it out because it's right again, right when cancel culture was happening.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: And she is just the vibe.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: Like, she does not give any shits.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: And she's like, as a comedian, too bad.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: Like, we're here to make jokes.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: If we can't, who can?
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: Like, if you don't like what I have to say, then don't come to see my show.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Don't come see my stand-up.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: It's not tailored just to you.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's either free speech or none at all.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: And it was just such a vibe.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: Like, she just did not care.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: And it's probably those people too.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: They're not as controlled, they're not as big as someone like Kim Kardashian, who obviously it's like very controlled, very fake, for lack of a better word.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: And also people who were established and didn't give a shit.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: I have a really funny Morgan Freeman story.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: Oh, I actually wrote a Playboy op-ed on it.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: But I sat next to him at this big press event and I was wearing those like Abercrombie ripped up jeans, and he's looking at them, like again, like your grandpa would.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: Like he's like, What's going on?
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: Like, what's missing from your pants?
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: Like, what's happening here?
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: So it's a so funny interaction.
- 38:27SPEAKER_01: And I end up getting some of it on camera.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Morgan, you know, you have something to say about my pants.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Yeah, wear them, baby, and we high five, and everyone in the room claps.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: Well, it turns out, right?
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: Like, just did not give a shit.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: Turns out, years later, basically the media tried to frame me as like a Me Too victim.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: Being like, What?
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: Being like Morgan Freeman objectifies female reporter.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: So that's why I wrote a op-ed and Playboy saying I was totally fine with it.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: Who are you to say that I'm a victim of anything?
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: You know, like my God.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: So I love this.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: I love this because I feel like this is a perfect representation of like what the media does and how they twist stuff to make it fit their narrative when it's actually something totally different.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: And that actually happened to you.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: So we know that that happens, right?
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: And that's like really fucked up because then it's like making you into some kind of victim.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: That's exactly what my piece says.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, if I don't say I am, then who are you to say I am?
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: Like I'm totally fine with what I wore, what happened, the interaction.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: So you having the audacity to say it was this or that is crazy.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: That's so crazy.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: So then how did that all unfold?
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: How did you find out that that's what they were saying?
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: Well, it's funny because someone who was in the room at the time called me and said, I work for the blast, which is kind of like a TMZ.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: And what happened was it was a couple, you know, a year or so later, someone was coming out with me to allegations against Morgan Freeman, like sexual harassment type stuff.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: So this person called me and said, I remember when this happened with you.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: And the video of it was up on YouTube.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: So they were like, Do you care if we we run a story about it?
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Now I had no idea what the story was gonna be.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: I kind of had an idea, but I'm already calculating in my mind like how I can like play chess and refute it my own way.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: So they ended up running the piece, and it was called Morgan Freeman Openly Objectifies Female Reporter.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: You know, again, as these allegations were going on around him.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: So it's funny because the piece is called something like Morgan Freeman joked about my outfit and here's why it didn't bother me.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: And I was freelancing for Playboy at the time, but funny enough, I didn't even think to send it to them.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: So I sent it to every mainstream outlet and they were all like, oh no.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: Cause again, it's like not their narrative, right?
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: It's like, no, no, no, Morgan Freeman's a bad guy, which I've experienced this a million times of them not taking my pieces.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: So as a last, like Hail Mary, I sent it to my editor at Playboy.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't know, I'm working on this, and they took it right away.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: So it was meant to be, yeah.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: So what other like, you know, because I know you said you've tried to pitch so many different pieces, and if it wasn't in alignment with their narrative, then they didn't take it.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: So, like, what are some other experiences you had with that?
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: So, my favorite one and most current was my Dave Portnoy piece.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: And to your point, Elise, about manifesting something in a way that you would never in a million years dreamed of.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: So this is so insane.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: When I was doing my show with my partner two years ago, we had pitched it to Barstool and we had a virtual meeting with Dave Portnoy, and he couldn't be bothered.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: He gave us like five minutes of his time, wasn't paying attention, and I left the meeting being like, well, not that it went horribly, but I probably am not gonna, you know, be getting a show on Barstool right now, right?
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: Never heard from him.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: So cut two, there was a whole, again, me too scandal around Dave Portnoy.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: Business insider basically tried to do some like botched expose on him.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: It was just completely like botched again, and just not, I don't think, credible.
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, they were sourcing women who like they admitted it was consensual sex, and you know, just very like gray.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Like, we're not talking a Harvey Weinstein where he clearly raped people.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Like, I know it is very gray, but yeah, this in particular was a stretch.
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: And I wrote a piece about it saying, well, first I did an episode on it, and then I was like, because I said I was in Hollywood when Me Too first started.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: I literally was at the Golden Globes when all the actresses wore the black dresses and Solidarity of Times Up Me Too.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: I was right there on the red carpet.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: So I did an episode and I wrote a piece saying I was there.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: I actually interviewed R.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Kelly survivors, right, about it all.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: And I don't think what business insider is doing is actually helping me too.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: Number one, because it waters down, I think, actual survivors who are telling their stories and it makes people second guess every woman who comes out going, oh great, is she just wanting clout?
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: Is she just wanting attention?
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: And we don't want that, right?
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we don't want that.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: We we want, you know, I say in the piece, I'm like, I talk to R.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: Kelly survivors, they mean business.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: I've, if anything, have advocated for people in Hollywood to speak out more, which were also pieces I wrote that didn't get picked up.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: But in the end, I just said it's it's really I want victims to be heard and to be believed, not to have us like roll our eyes and questioning their motives, right?
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: Which is what I feel like Business Insider was perpetuating.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: So again, nobody picked it up.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: No one picked it up, and it's called I On the front line of Hollywood's Me Too movement, business insider's piece on Dave Portnoy isn't helping women.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: So again, no one picked it up.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: And what's funny, you know, because again, of course, it's not their narrative.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: Their narrative is number one, all women are right by default, and you know, believe all women, and Dave Portnoy is a scummy, rotten, horrible guy, right?
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: So no one would pick up my piece.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: My favorite is I actually got a response from The Atlantic, and they were like, Taylor, this is such a great, important piece, but you know that we can't run this.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, we can't pick it up.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: It's so sad.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: So crazy.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: It's like, what happened to freedom of the press?
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: Like, what is like there's no freedom of the press a million times.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: I, Elise, am feeling so deflated.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I just spent days, weeks in a Starbucks isolated, writing this piece.
- 44:51SPEAKER_01: No one cares.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: I'm pitching it to everyone and their mom.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: No one can be bothered.
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: No one's answering me.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: So I say, you know what?
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: Screw it.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna self-publish it.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: So I did.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: I put it on my own site.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: And what happens?
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: It gets the attention of Dave Portnoy, who had, by the way, no recollection that I had met him, you know, a year and a half prior.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: It gets his attention.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: So he starts posting it to his story and starts sharing it.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, what's happening?
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: And then I end up DMing him.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, why don't you come on my show and talk about it?
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: And he did.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: And he came on my show for like a really badass, crazy interview.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: So that's like a twofold of number one, the media's narratives and also manifesting.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: It's like, yeah, I went from Dave Portnoy blowing me off to giving me an hour of his time.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: He doesn't do any shows.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: And I would rather have a sit-down with him on my turf on my show than be in any of those magazines.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: That's so cool.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: So crazy.
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: I feel like there's so many questions I have about this.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: Because first of all, I'm also really interested in, I know you were like kind of on the front lines of the whole Me Too movement when it was happening, but like I'm also really interested to know the R.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: Kelly survivors that you talked to because I find that really fascinating.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: And then also, like, there was that whole documentary about him.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: Like, why wouldn't they pick up your piece?
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: You're gonna love this.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Again, I kind of flipped the narrative on its head.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: So I interviewed these R.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: Kelly survivors, and I actually asked them because at the time, Hollywood was patting itself on the back.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: For me, too, this time's up that.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: The way I saw it was if you're a celebrity, if you're a high-profile person, I would never say you're less of a victim.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, you have such clout and security and reach that you could really help a lot of people, victims included, like kind of like put your money where your mouth is, you know.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: Again, very controversial thing, you know, provocative thing to say.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: I brought this to our Kelly survivors, and they could not have agreed with me more.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: They were like, these actresses in Hollywood don't wanna give up their chances of making a living.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: They don't want to rock the boat too much, but they could really help people like us, help the little people, help the people who don't have as much pull and clout and say, you know, say like a Meryl Streep comes out, nobody's gonna fuck with Meryl Streep.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be like, they're gonna take her word on it, you know?
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: And that was the other piece I'd pitched again, right before the pandemic.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: It was like December 2019.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: I had pitched it everywhere.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: And basically the piece was these are Kelly survivors are saying this.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: Like, if you're not gonna hear it from them, then who are you gonna hear it from?
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: You know, really put your money where your mouth is and really help the people who don't have the platforms that you guys have.
- 47:43SPEAKER_01: You know, you have so much power, and it's like at the end of the day, you know, wearing black and cheering me too, like what is that ultimately doing at the end of the day, right?
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Nothing.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: No one picked it up.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: So do you think, like from your perspective, because I think you kind of know my take on this a little bit, but from your perspective, do you think that most of these celebrities, you know, like the bigger ones, like the Kim Kardashians and that level, do you think that they are just completely controlled?
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: Meaning that you're never really going to actually know anything about them or actually have any access to the real them and every move that they make.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: For example, with the R.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: Kelly thing, right?
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: And you mentioned Meryl Streep.
- 48:23SPEAKER_00: And my first thought is well, that wouldn't be part of her image.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: So it's not gonna happen.
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: So, do you feel like all of that is just completely controlled in Hollywood?
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, kinda, yeah.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do, but you've been there, so I'm asking you.
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you know, I saw it firsthand.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: It would be again, even if it's something as minuscule as a journalist, nothing drove me nuts more than when I would get a note from their team beforehand going, Can you send us the questions you're gonna ask?
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we need to approve the questions.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: I'd be like, Yeah, no, it's not gonna happen.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: That's how controlled it is.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: It's can't ask this, you can't ask that.
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: And I would see it firsthand and it goes down a line of so many people.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: It's their agent, their publicist, they're this, they're that.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Even if they're tied to say they have a show on ABC, then you have all the people of ABC involved.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: And I remember one time, so I would cover it really quick.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: I would cover American Idol every week.
- 49:21SPEAKER_01: So we would interview the judges on the, you know, CBS law, you know, behind backstage after every episode.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: This is like a kind of stupid example, but Katy Perry and Taylor Swift at the time had this like they had been fighting, they had this big beef.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: And I guess something had happened where Taylor Swift was trying to extend the olive branch.
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: And so I asked Katy Perry, would you have Taylor on the show as like a guest?
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: Sometimes they have like guest celebrity mentors or judges or whatever.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Yeah, absolutely.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: The American Idol, the entire team was like, I was there for Us Weekly.
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: And again, that was something where they were like, You can't run that.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: And what would happen?
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Again, it's like the control.
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: Us Weekly would never be invited to cover American Idol again.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: So it would fall on me, it would fall on them.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: So that's how controlled.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: And it's also like, who cares?
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: That she said that you know what I mean.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Like half the time, I'd be like, Who cares?
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like that's not even that big of a deal.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's on so many levels.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Again, it's why my selfie stick stuff ended up at the end really becoming exhausting and like feeling like every single one was an uphill battle because it's like it's not just me and this person, it's their, you know, they're this and they're that, and they're it's just it's it's a lot.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: It's sad.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really sad.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: We're sheltered in a really weird way.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, and it's it's funny to me too, because I feel like we have this idea in this country that we have freedom and there's freedom of the press, and there's freedom, all of this stuff that we're kind of told that we just think is true.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: But then when you, you know, you have someone like you who's like there in the midst of it.
- 51:00SPEAKER_00: And also, you know, we had Ali Levine on the show who had a lot of similar and crazy things to say, and you realize that that's not actually true at all.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: And what we're seeing is just what they want us to say.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: Yep, exactly.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: That's why I was calling BS on the Me Too thing because I'm like, I saw it, it's great, yay, rah-rah, like the black dress, but even I wrote a piece calling out E because it's also like topical and superficial and manufactured.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: As all that was happening, it was fresh.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: Like the whole Me Too thing was fresh.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: Everybody was wearing the black.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: And I wrote a piece for Huffington Post because at the time Ryan Seacrest was being accused.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: Now, I don't know if it was true or not, but either way, he was.
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: And this is like this, they were so tone-deaf that there was another award show going on, and they were like, Yeah, yeah, he's being accused.
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: And at the time, Kat Sadler, one of their main correspondents, was talking about the pay gap, the pay disparity, how she was so much more qualified doing the same job, but getting paid so much less than her male counterparts.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: So all this was going on, and they decided to put Ryan Seacrest as the their face on red carpets to talk to celebrities.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: So it was all so fake because it's like if you guys are really about me too, you know, you're putting a guy being accused, and then none of the celebrities call him out.
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: So I wrote a piece about it again.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: I'm like, you guys, you know, the celebrities are so concerned with like looking good, promoting their, you know, they're all wearing black and like me too.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: Yet no one will talk about it.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: No one will call out E.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: The celebrity just wants to promote their project.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: E has Ryan's, like, it's just all such a circus, you know, such a joke.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: So now you said like your vision, but what is next for you?
- 52:46SPEAKER_00: What's the next exciting thing that's happening in your world?
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: Just to keep it going.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: I'm really, it's nothing big and extravagant, but I really am just focused on building the community of people that I have to keep having these conversations and to bring it to more people.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: Cause I think it's what people really want and need right now.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: And we're not seeing it.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: And, you know, to even get more of like the Dave Port noise, like more high-profile people in the fold.
- 53:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: Those are really my goals right now.
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: And I also think, too, the other thing that occurred to me before as you were talking about like kind of what you like, you know, wanting to be like a woman's voice in the industry.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: I really think too, the way that you are just saying the truth and you don't care.
- 53:36SPEAKER_00: TV, you're gonna have to create your own path for yourself, I guess, is how it is.
- 53:40SPEAKER_00: And I love how you're like so dedicated to that, and you're just like, I don't care what I have to do.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm going to do this.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that's so needed because people want that.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: No one wants to watch this like contrived shit anymore.
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, you see, like how they show those statistics of even, oh, today how they were talking about Netflix subscribers is like 20% down, and also how they were showing too that like the number of people watching like CNN or the news has like drastically gone down compared, and then like all the people that are now listening to Joe Rogan.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: It's like he has like a million people listening to his podcast, and there's only like however many really small amount of people watching the actual news.
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: So I feel like people are starting to wake up to the fact that this is basically fake.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you would be surprised.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: I often find myself so frustrated because it's like I said earlier, people don't get it, they can't quite compute.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: They're like, wait, what?
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: Like, she's not this, she's not that, but she's they're so used to their little vanilla box.
- 54:44SPEAKER_01: So like they don't know what to do with me, they won't take a risk.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: But the sad part is exactly to your point, that's what's succeeding.
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: So it makes me want to shake them.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what don't you get?
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what don't you see?
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: CNN just launched, you know, CNN Plus, uh, which is their little side digital platform, and it gets about 10,000 people watching a day.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: That is sad.
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: That is minimal.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, Joe Rogan gets what a couple million per episode.
- 55:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's and CNN can't even get 10,000 people, you know what I mean?
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: So it's like they see these numbers, but they're not willing to take a risk.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: So it's extremely frustrating because you know, you talk about like carving your path and being authentic, and it's funny, it's like a little jest with the universe because I'll get indeed in LinkedIn, you know, notifications and all the things, of course, are in that neat little box, you know, editor for this, producer for this, and none of it sounds appealing.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: It's all just so it's hard to make your own way and carve your own path.
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I also feel like what I always say to everyone, too, is like as long as you keep trusting yourself and trusting your intuition, it is gonna unfold in exactly the way it's supposed to.
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: And a lot of times we don't know why certain things unfold the way that they do until like you look back on it and you're like, holy shit, like at the time I thought that that was a loss or a failure.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: And now I see why that had to happen.
- 56:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, really, I don't joke when I say it is what gets me through every day because every single day I wake up being like, you know, I had this whole life, I had this whole exciting career and all this.
- 56:25SPEAKER_01: And I wake up sleeping on a couch and working a part-time side thing every day, and there's no one to report to.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: It's up to me.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: It's up to me to do it and pull myself up and sit in a Starbucks every single day.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: And it takes a lot of stamina, not a lot, but it's not made for everybody.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: No, definitely not.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: I completely hear you.
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: And going down this path is like a journey of personal growth, and it's a journey of really like coming back to yourself and who you really are.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: So, and and everyone who's listening, they get it and they know that.
- 57:01SPEAKER_00: So it's really true.
- 57:02SPEAKER_00: So I know we could probably talk for like another hour, but um, I know we need to wrap things up.
- 57:07SPEAKER_00: So, first of all, can you tell people where they can find you and especially your podcast?
- 57:11SPEAKER_00: Because I know everyone's gonna want to listen to it.
- 57:14SPEAKER_01: Thank you, and thank you for the phenomenal, really thought-provoking questions.
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: It was so much fun.
- 57:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, good.
- 57:20SPEAKER_01: Talk to me Taylor is where you can find me across the board on Instagram.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: All my YouTube selfie stick interviews are there.
- 57:28SPEAKER_01: Talk to me Taylor, and the show is called Cancel Me Baby.
- 57:31SPEAKER_01: So it's on IGTV, Spotify, iHeart, Apple, everywhere.
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: So please, you know, listen, share it, and let me know what you guys think.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: And even if you agree, disagree, I love to hear it all.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: That's the point.
- 57:43SPEAKER_01: So get in on the action.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: Yay, awesome.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: I know everyone will.
- 57:47SPEAKER_00: I know I've been listening.
- 57:48SPEAKER_00: I started listening to Ali's episode, and then I'm gonna go through all the episodes.
- 57:52SPEAKER_01: So I'm really oh, Elise, you should listen to the one from today.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: I'm sure you're gonna feel a type of way.
- 57:56SPEAKER_01: Cause like I said, it literally is every taboo issue in 40 minutes.
- 58:02SPEAKER_00: So I love it.
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: I'm interested to see what you think about that.
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: Okay, so our last question for you what is a non-negotiable when it comes to fully reclaiming your consciousness?
- 58:14SPEAKER_01: It's what perfectly encapsulates everything we talked about today is not doing what everyone wants you to do and fitting in that box.
- 58:24SPEAKER_01: My life would be so much easier.
- 58:27SPEAKER_01: If I stayed at VH1 in New York and climbed the ladder, who knows?
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: I probably would have a great salary and a 401k and you know, a nice place overlooking the East Village in New York, you know, my life would be so much easier.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: But would you be happy?
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: How miserable would I be?
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: How miserable would I be?
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: It's just not worth it.
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: Even all the times working for these magazines and what they wanted me to ask.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: I always thought to myself, why am I being a voice for somebody else?
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: If I'm not here, I'm gonna do it for myself.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do it in their voice, in their vision, in their way.
- 59:01SPEAKER_01: So non-negotiable.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: Love that so much.
- 59:04SPEAKER_00: And you know, and it's really inspiring of you just really like sticking to what you know to be true for yourself and to have that within you, I think is really admirable.
- 59:15SPEAKER_00: So we're all celebrating that.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: And thank you so much for being here.
- 59:19SPEAKER_00: This was amazing, and yeah, and we will talk to you soon.
- 59:23SPEAKER_01: I can't wait.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for taking the time.
- 59:26SPEAKER_01: And I can't wait for our paths to cross again.
- 59:28SPEAKER_01: And I love what you're doing as well.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: So thank you for your work and for having me and for it all.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
