- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Although we walked in the flesh, we do not war
- 1:27Speaker 2: according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare
- 1:30Speaker 2: are not carnival, but mighty in God, for pulling down strongholds,
- 1:36Speaker 2: casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself
- 1:42Speaker 2: against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity
- 1:46Speaker 2: to the obedience of Christ. Second Corinth ends chapter ten,
- 1:51Speaker 2: verses three and five. Yesterday we had actually looked at
- 1:57Speaker 2: this series part of the whole armor of God. We
- 2:03Speaker 2: began a inspection a checklist, if you will, of the
- 2:08Speaker 2: items that are provided for us in the seven parts
- 2:12Speaker 2: of God's perfect Armor. Now, in all of that inspection,
- 2:19Speaker 2: we described not only what the armor was, but we
- 2:23Speaker 2: also were able to determine how God wants it to
- 2:30Speaker 2: be used. We talked about the helmet of salvation, the
- 2:34Speaker 2: girdle or belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and
- 2:38Speaker 2: Gospel's shoes of peace. And now we want to talk
- 2:43Speaker 2: about the three remaining perfect parts of God's armor, and
- 2:49Speaker 2: we need to understand that these are all working together
- 2:54Speaker 2: to provide for our victory. Now, why is it so
- 2:59Speaker 2: important that we know and understand each of these perfect parts?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Because we cannot be wholly armed until we fully understand
- 3:12Speaker 2: and can utilize our armor, as well as being able
- 3:18Speaker 2: to understand how our armor supports our weaponry. So we
- 3:25Speaker 2: had looked at those four parts earlier, and now we
- 3:29Speaker 2: come to the shield of faith. What is the purpose
- 3:33Speaker 2: of this shield? Well, in this particular description, and let's
- 3:39Speaker 2: look at the way a soldier advances in combat. Now,
- 3:47Speaker 2: in the days when we were looking at this type
- 3:51Speaker 2: of warfare or combat, we were not looking necessarily at
- 3:55Speaker 2: some of the modern styled weaponry. What we could see
- 4:00Speaker 2: armor plating that was being worn, and a shield that
- 4:04Speaker 2: would be a guard that would go up in front.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You'll notice the shield is always in front of the warrior.
- 4:14Speaker 2: There's no rear protection and that's because he is constantly advancing.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And when we look at this, we have to understand
- 4:26Speaker 2: what the shield of faith is used for. It's actually
- 4:30Speaker 2: to quench or to put out the fiery darts. Now
- 4:35Speaker 2: what are the fiery darts? When it says above all,
- 4:40Speaker 2: take yourself the shield of faith where you can quench
- 4:47Speaker 2: the fiery darts of the devil. With this shield, we
- 4:51Speaker 2: are trusting God to perform and protect us even when
- 4:58Speaker 2: everything looks as if if the battle may be going
- 5:02Speaker 2: the other way. It is through faith that causes us
- 5:07Speaker 2: to believe that God will reward us with victory regardless
- 5:11Speaker 2: of what the circumstances seem to be. We must trust
- 5:15Speaker 2: and believe have faith in God. Now there is a difference,
- 5:22Speaker 2: and I want to take just a moment to explain.
- 5:26Speaker 2: The shield of faith is using that belief in God
- 5:33Speaker 2: for victory even when everything else is turned against you.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It's holding on to what you can't even see, so
- 5:45Speaker 2: that you can move forward as you advance in God's kingdom.
- 5:51Speaker 2: It is so critical for us to be able to
- 5:54Speaker 2: see that we are actually marching by faith, not by sight,
- 6:02Speaker 2: so in that we know that we are totally dependent
- 6:07Speaker 2: on God's intervention, and he is working where we can't
- 6:13Speaker 2: see him. Let's talk about the sword of the Spirit.
- 6:17Speaker 2: We talked about it in Jesus' use as he proclaimed
- 6:22Speaker 2: to the devil in the time of testing in the wilderness.
- 6:29Speaker 2: He proclaimed three precious words. It is written now the
- 6:36Speaker 2: Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. In
- 6:43Speaker 2: Hebrews four, verse twelve, it talks about how this word
- 6:49Speaker 2: of God is used as a weapon. It's a most
- 6:53Speaker 2: effective form that we could ever employ. It has two
- 6:58Speaker 2: equally sharp edges, and it penetrates deep into the very
- 7:03Speaker 2: center of the enemy and causes devastating results. The enemy
- 7:09Speaker 2: must either retreat or surrender. He cannot continue his stand
- 7:15Speaker 2: against this will of his creator. And we must learn
- 7:20Speaker 2: how to use or strike with this mighty weapon so
- 7:25Speaker 2: that we can hit the very heart of the enemy
- 7:28Speaker 2: and his forces. It is so important that we know
- 7:33Speaker 2: the word of God. It is important in the battle
- 7:38Speaker 2: that this part of our armor and weaponry is actually
- 7:45Speaker 2: used because when it is employed, the enemy cannot stand
- 7:53Speaker 2: against us. There's a scripture that was written in the
- 7:57Speaker 2: Book of Matthew Jesus this when he proclaimed how he
- 8:03Speaker 2: would build his church, and he mentioned in that statement
- 8:09Speaker 2: that the gates of Hell, even in reference in some
- 8:14Speaker 2: versions the gates of Hades, would not prevail against his church.
- 8:20Speaker 2: The picture that you have is that the enemy is
- 8:25Speaker 2: marching against the church, and the Church is backing up
- 8:32Speaker 2: while it is defending the ground. But folks, that's the
- 8:36Speaker 2: wrong picture. The reality is that the Church is marching
- 8:43Speaker 2: aggressively forward right up to the very forwer chambers of hell,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and it is there to pull out those that are
- 8:56Speaker 2: closest to being placed in hell fire. The thing that
- 9:03Speaker 2: we have to recognize is all of our weaponry and
- 9:07Speaker 2: all of our armor is not just to protect us,
- 9:13Speaker 2: but it is to provide a method by which we
- 9:18Speaker 2: can rescue others those that are held captive by the enemy.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Why is it so important that we complete this total
- 9:31Speaker 2: perfect armor with prayer in the spirit. This is an
- 9:35Speaker 2: area that many people will debate and have debated for years.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's God's codebook of orders and direction. If somebody were
- 9:48Speaker 2: to ask you today, what does praying in the spirit
- 9:53Speaker 2: mean you may have a particular representation or a answer
- 10:00Speaker 2: for that question, But I asked that question for the
- 10:05Speaker 2: reason of being able to be wholly armed. You see,
- 10:12Speaker 2: if this completes the whole armor of God, it is
- 10:17Speaker 2: probably the one item that most of us will forget
- 10:23Speaker 2: to use, and it is what we have to have
- 10:29Speaker 2: to know our orders. It is important for us to
- 10:34Speaker 2: realize that praying in the spirit gives us the ability
- 10:40Speaker 2: to communicate directly with God. It is the code transmission,
- 10:48Speaker 2: if you will, which cannot be intercepted or jammed by
- 10:53Speaker 2: the enemy. We receive our orders from God, and only
- 10:58Speaker 2: he knows the code, and only he can reveal its meaning.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Suppose that we went into battle with all the armor
- 11:07Speaker 2: and yet lack the ability to know what to do
- 11:10Speaker 2: and when to do it, would we be very effective soldiers?
- 11:16Speaker 2: The answer is obvious. Satan has tried to perpetuate confusion
- 11:21Speaker 2: and disagreement about this vital element of God's armor since
- 11:26Speaker 2: the day of Pentecost. Since God provides the whole armor
- 11:31Speaker 2: and we need the whole armor, then Satan will do
- 11:35Speaker 2: everything possible to keep us from being holy armed. For years,
- 11:41Speaker 2: he has had the Church fighting against itself over this
- 11:46Speaker 2: one issue. Satan knows when God's wholly armed force marches
- 11:53Speaker 2: against him, his strong olds will fall, and his captives
- 11:58Speaker 2: will be free, and his defeat will be revealed to
- 12:03Speaker 2: all mankind. What if David had forgotten his slingshot? Could
- 12:08Speaker 2: he have inflicted such a disabling blow to Goliath? Can we,
- 12:12Speaker 2: as God's army, afford to pick and choose what we
- 12:17Speaker 2: like or not like to take into combat? And also,
- 12:21Speaker 2: did God select only a few soldiers who would have
- 12:25Speaker 2: the whole armor or did he mean for all of
- 12:28Speaker 2: us to be fully armed? Remember this whole armor serves
- 12:33Speaker 2: to make us combat ready, ready for the Kingdom of
- 12:36Speaker 2: God to advance and cover the earth. Inside the temple
- 12:41Speaker 2: or our vessel which carries the armor is the code interpreter,
- 12:49Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit of God, and he takes all of
- 12:53Speaker 2: God's orders and explains them to us. He shows us
- 12:58Speaker 2: the direction, reveals the end to me, and takes care
- 13:01Speaker 2: of our needs even when we don't know our own needs.
- 13:07Speaker 2: He is the Promise of Jesus for us. He alone
- 13:11Speaker 2: can comfort us, guide us, and teach us everything we
- 13:15Speaker 2: are supposed to know. As we become more like Christ.
- 13:21Speaker 2: When we are totally surrendered to God's will and not
- 13:25Speaker 2: our own. The Holy Spirit can pray for us using
- 13:32Speaker 2: our tongue of expression. He brings the deep things of
- 13:36Speaker 2: God into our knowledge. He can and will make intercession
- 13:44Speaker 2: for us to our heavenly Father. We don't have to
- 13:48Speaker 2: understand this prayer language until the Holy Spirit wants us
- 13:53Speaker 2: to understand. Unlike many codes used by man, only God
- 13:59Speaker 2: can interpret prayer in the spirit. Satan cannot understand the code.
- 14:04Speaker 2: He doesn't know what God is going to do. He
- 14:07Speaker 2: doesn't have the Holy Spirit to guide him and direct
- 14:10Speaker 2: him as we do. Now, can you see how important
- 14:17Speaker 2: praying always, with all prayer and supplication in the spirit
- 14:24Speaker 2: really is to the victory we are to be holy armed.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us you've been listening to
- 14:37Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard k. You can hear
- 14:40Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 14:43Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would
- 14:48Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great is Thy
- 14:50Speaker 1: Faithfulness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album, and
- 14:55Speaker 1: let's otherwise express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard,
- 15:00Speaker 1: which is published by Home and Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Additional resources used for reflections on the Word with Richard
- 15:08Speaker 1: K include Great is Thy Faithfulness, by Our Daily Breadth
- 15:12Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 15:16Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 15:20Speaker 2: And in order to be wholly armed, we have to
- 15:24Speaker 2: take upon ourselves what God provides, not what man provides,
- 15:32Speaker 2: and not what man states we need or we don't need.
- 15:39Speaker 2: We need to understand that the whole armor of God
- 15:44Speaker 2: is for all believers to be able to advance His kingdom.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Take to yourself the whole armor of God that you
- 15:58Speaker 2: will be able to make aggressive stand against the devices
- 16:05Speaker 2: of the enemy. Review those parts of the armor daily.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Make sure you have your inspection up to date. Don't
- 16:15Speaker 2: allow any of your weapons or your armor to become
- 16:21Speaker 2: misused or abused. Remember, you are the victor because of
- 16:29Speaker 2: what Jesus already accomplished at Calvary. When he said it
- 16:36Speaker 2: is finished, he meant every word go in God's armor
- 16:44Speaker 2: and power to proclaim his good news to a loss
- 16:51Speaker 2: and dying world. And that is today's Reflection on the Word.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 17:02Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 17:04Speaker 1: Richard K or Richard Retired Team. This is Chuck Christie
- 17:08Speaker 1: saying thanks for listening to this edition of Reflections on
