- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from inside the house because it's
- 0:32really, really early and really, really dark and I went to bed
- 0:37last night at 7:30 because I just flew back in from the
- 0:42event. So I am back on the farm and I
- 0:45missed recording yesterday because I actually had to get up
- 0:50at 2:45 in the morning to get myself together, get ready and
- 0:55be picked up by my assistant. My the girl who organizes my
- 1:00entire life. And she was at the event with me
- 1:04and she drove me to the airport because we had a 2 1/2 hour ride
- 1:10from the resort where the event was taking place to get to the
- 1:15airport in Minneapolis, Saint Paul.
- 1:18And we were both afraid. We're both very certainty driven
- 1:21people. We were both really afraid that
- 1:23we might get stuck in traffic because I had a 9:00 flight.
- 1:28But, you know, you got to get there early, of course.
- 1:30And when you're both certainty driven, we looked at each other
- 1:33and we're like, well, there's construction going on
- 1:35everywhere. So we really better leave really
- 1:38early. So she picked me up and we drove
- 1:41to the airport. Now compile that on top of the
- 1:45fact that I had not slept pretty much the entire time I was gone
- 1:49because I forgot how badly it's been a few years since I've
- 1:52actually gone out on the road without having my husband travel
- 1:57with me. And I I just don't sleep well in
- 2:02hotels like that. So, you know, I end up watching
- 2:06a lot of mindless television while I'm trying to fall asleep,
- 2:10which is the complete wrong thing to do.
- 2:12However, I was doing that and I just never could fall asleep.
- 2:15So I got on the plane and I still couldn't sleep.
- 2:20So by the time I got home last night, I was wiped out and went
- 2:24to bed at 7:30. So I'm up, I'm back in the
- 2:28groove getting everything taken care of, but I wanted to get
- 2:30this out before the girls wake up.
- 2:33Until that time change happens, we're stuck in a little bit of a
- 2:36dark zone. So I can't even get them open
- 2:38right this minute outside. However.
- 2:40So let's talk about everything that's happened in the last
- 2:44couple days because the big lesson in it for me was wow.
- 2:47You know, even just talking about the no sleeping thing and
- 2:50talking about how our my trip was it.
- 2:55It was it occurred to me in a very, very big way that the
- 2:59lessons in this were so big for me all over again.
- 3:01Because there's one thing that's very important.
- 3:04It's like when you have to do things that are outside your
- 3:07norm, how it affects us. And even though I knew
- 3:11wholeheartedly great aspects of myself and how I travel, I know
- 3:17that when there are things that show up, like the not having
- 3:22somebody there with you in a hotel to sleep, I know how that
- 3:26affects me. And I thought I had a plan and
- 3:29the plan didn't work well. Why didn't the plan work?
- 3:32Well, the plan didn't work because I was so hyped up about
- 3:37the other stuff I was doing that I got my adrenaline passed where
- 3:41it normally ranges and then I threw myself off balance.
- 3:46Now, did anything go wrong? No, the event was amazing.
- 3:49I had, you know, all these leaders in a room.
- 3:51I was speaking for Caldwell Banker.
- 3:53I had all these leaders in a room.
- 3:55It was just an incredible experience to be with these
- 3:59people and teach them about how their emotions affect their
- 4:02leadership. The day the book launched,
- 4:05everything was perfect. We are in extremely competitive
- 4:09categories, yet the book did so well.
- 4:12We're in the top 100 across the board in all the categories.
- 4:16And that was the goal because I knew I was picking very, very
- 4:18hard categories. Everything went exactly as I had
- 4:23intended it to go and I just had never intended in my list of
- 4:28things, you know, oh, I'm going to sleep well and I'm going to
- 4:31be able to do recovery well in between.
- 4:35I never put that out there. I was just like so focused on
- 4:38delivering. I just wasn't thinking about
- 4:41that piece that it would affect me again.
- 4:43I actually had kind of for I was aware of it, but I wasn't aware
- 4:47of how much it was going to show up.
- 4:49I was aware I needed snacks. And this is where even somebody
- 4:54as detailed as I am, as detailed as my assistant is, both of us
- 4:57did not think about that piece. Like, OK, what are we going to
- 5:00do to make sure that you can sleep?
- 5:03Do you need anything else with you?
- 5:04Do you need me to make sure that you're not on the ground floor?
- 5:07And that's pretty much what happened.
- 5:10I my room was on the ground floor of this building.
- 5:15That may not seem like a big deal, but for me, it having
- 5:19people make noise over my head was just one of those, oh boy,
- 5:23that's, that's something that that does it.
- 5:27I, I hear noise, I wake up. I have mom ears.
- 5:29When you have kids, you have mom ears, but sometimes they wake
- 5:32you up and you hear everything. So all these little things
- 5:36contributed me thinking about the event, me trying to figure
- 5:39out if I've if I've gone through everything.
- 5:41But the bottom line was I wasn't sleeping.
- 5:44And it gave me a real intense reflection time to be able to
- 5:49say, OK, what are the things that I did well?
- 5:52What are the things that I could have done better?
- 5:54And what will we do different next time?
- 5:56And one of the big things that came out was next time, as I
- 6:00start to do this travel again and start to go out and speak
- 6:02again, I have to make sure I take the sleep into
- 6:05consideration. What do I need in order to
- 6:08sleep? And I honestly, I had not
- 6:11realized how much my sleep routine normally has become
- 6:17something that is high maintenance.
- 6:19I'm just going to put it out there.
- 6:21It's high maintenance. I have to be in bed at a certain
- 6:24time because if I don't go to bed at a within a certain
- 6:27window, it's like I miss my window to sleep and then I can't
- 6:30fall asleep. That's a little high
- 6:31maintenance. Then I have this weighted
- 6:34blanket. And I don't know if any of you
- 6:36have used weighted blankets before, but Oh my gosh, they are
- 6:39lovely. Well, you can't travel with a 10
- 6:42LB weighted blanket. That is just not going to
- 6:44happen. So not having the hotel deliver
- 6:48extra blankets to the room so I can have some weight on me was a
- 6:53mistake. I should have thought of that
- 6:55because that helps me sleep. And again, making sure I was not
- 6:59on the ground floor. So I, it's, I think it's, it has
- 7:02to do mostly with the sound up above me, but it also I think
- 7:06has to do with safety. And we go back to primal needs
- 7:11of a human being. Do you feel safe?
- 7:13Did I have the doors locked? Yes, but there was a wall of
- 7:17windows that were sliders in my room.
- 7:20It's beautiful right on the lake.
- 7:23But guess what didn't make me feel particularly safe at night
- 7:27sleeping in the room. They're locked, yes.
- 7:30And still didn't make me feel very safe.
- 7:33Where the curtains pulled. Yes.
- 7:34And I still didn't feel very safe.
- 7:37So the point of Maine telling you all this is recognizing
- 7:40these little things really helped me to say, OK, now next
- 7:45time, how can I do better? And that's what this is all
- 7:47about, South, if there's something showing up in your
- 7:50world, really debrief it. And this took me like, I was on
- 7:54the plane flying home and I was like, wow, I need to figure out
- 7:57the sleep thing. And I actually started going
- 7:59through it all. And I had to be honest with
- 8:01myself about, yeah, you've turned into a little bit of a
- 8:03high maintenance sleeper from the Girl Who Travelled the world
- 8:06with Tony Robbins, who didn't need all those things.
- 8:09So got to work on that, got to fix that.
- 8:13But it's that honesty. It's that willingness to come
- 8:15out and say, OK, where did I, where have I gone a little
- 8:18wrong? And I'm back on track now.
- 8:20So we'll be back on at our normal times.
- 8:23And I apologize that I missed yesterday, but we're back.
- 8:26So take a look at if you've got something out there, take a look
- 8:28at what's been, you know, threw you off.
- 8:31Get honest with it and let's see if we can fix that.
- 8:33All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 8:36will see you tomorrow. Bye.
