- 0:09Speaker 2: know that. Tell me about your match today.
- 0:12Speaker 3: It's great. It's great saying you again.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:16Speaker 3: John H.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Patrick.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah, so there was. It was great. It was it
- 0:20Speaker 3: was a great match. I mean it was a solid match.
- 0:23Speaker 3: He started playing much better. Second said that I couldn't
- 0:27Speaker 3: handle that that level. I didn't then or I couldn't
- 0:33Speaker 3: take chances he brought me in the sacond set. But
- 0:36Speaker 3: very happy in general about about the level. Proud about
- 0:40Speaker 3: the way that I started the first set. Uh strong,
- 0:43Speaker 3: strong mentally and uh putting a strong strong shots. So
- 0:47Speaker 3: just really happy with uh yeah, with the level today
- 0:51Speaker 3: and hope and hopefully hopefully keep it going.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Tell me about that shirt. Watch that shirt?
- 0:56Speaker 3: You know, honestly I don't even know. Uh.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Look, they gave it.
- 1:03Speaker 3: They gave it to me, and I was like, okay,
- 1:05Speaker 3: this is uh this is really cool shirt. So I
- 1:07Speaker 3: had to worry. But honestly I don't. I don't know
- 1:11Speaker 3: where where it came from. No, I don't know if
- 1:13Speaker 3: it is football or not, so not sure. I had
- 1:16Speaker 3: to ask you, we.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Know, Carlos, that you can play on every surface. Right,
- 1:20Speaker 1: You've already won Wimbledon twice, US Open and of course
- 1:24Speaker 1: here at Roland Garretts. But your year was pretty good
- 1:27Speaker 1: to start, but once you got on the clay, it
- 1:29Speaker 1: seemed like you started to play your best tennis. You
- 1:31Speaker 1: won two Big Masters tournaments. Would you say that clay
- 1:35Speaker 1: is your best surface?
- 1:39Speaker 3: I could say that right now. I always say I
- 1:42Speaker 3: always said that. The probably I'm feel more comfortable playing
- 1:45Speaker 3: on hardcore, but I think right now I can't. I
- 1:48Speaker 3: can't say, you know anymore. I grew up playing on
- 1:52Speaker 3: clay court, so right now, yeah, right now, when when
- 1:56Speaker 3: the clay season is uh starting? So I just I
- 2:00Speaker 3: just feel happy. I just uh just wanted to to
- 2:03Speaker 3: play on clay. So right now I'm gonna say.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Whatever whatever is exactly. Let me ask you this, Carlos,
- 2:11Speaker 2: because we've been watching Stefano Sissy Pat's play and he
- 2:15Speaker 2: lost in Australia first round to an American and he
- 2:18Speaker 2: said at that time that the game has changed drastically
- 2:22Speaker 2: only in the last one or two years. It's much
- 2:26Speaker 2: much faster. He said he's got to do something, change
- 2:29Speaker 2: something to stay at the top of the game. Do
- 2:32Speaker 2: you agree with that? What do you think of those
- 2:35Speaker 2: comments he made? Is that true in your mind?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Well, I I've been the tour just for three years,
- 2:42Speaker 3: so I can't compare, you know, from from before. Let's say,
- 2:48Speaker 3: but uh right, yeah I can, I can. I can
- 2:50Speaker 3: see like the titis right now is much much faster. Honestly,
- 2:54Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't do any any changes.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Oh my game.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I'm just trying to grew up on the I'm playing.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I'm playing as fast as they as they play. But yeah,
- 3:11Speaker 3: let's say I can't. I am a great with him,
- 3:14Speaker 3: you know, I just probably they had to do something
- 3:17Speaker 3: as to stay in there in the top because the
- 3:20Speaker 3: game right now is my or is fast.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Let's say, let me ask you this also, one Carlos
- 3:26Speaker 2: Ferrera has been your coach since you or I think
- 3:29Speaker 2: thirteen or fourteen if I correct me if I'm wrong, fifteen, fifteen, fifteen, okay,
- 3:35Speaker 2: I think so. Yeah so, But but before that, you
- 3:37Speaker 2: obviously started playing in a much younger age, and you've
- 3:40Speaker 2: developed the ability to hit any shot, including you. I
- 3:44Speaker 2: love this, but you come to NET so much. You're
- 3:46Speaker 2: great at NET. Who taught you technically at that age?
- 3:50Speaker 2: At what age were you encouraged I suppose to come
- 3:54Speaker 2: in and be aggressive and play it net as much
- 3:56Speaker 2: as you do. Well.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Honestly, when I was when I was young, I I uh, yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I used to play with with some with I mean
- 4:09Speaker 3: against older players like wow or two years and I
- 4:13Speaker 3: was super skinny, so I had to do you know,
- 4:15Speaker 3: other things coming to the drop sorts or whatever. So
- 4:20Speaker 3: I just uh, you know, since the very very beginning
- 4:23Speaker 3: I started playing to play like like that. But uh,
- 4:26Speaker 3: I think they did a really great work with me,
- 4:30Speaker 3: you know technically to do you know, the right the
- 4:33Speaker 3: right things, and I tried to grew up with with
- 4:36Speaker 3: that things. And yeah, when I started with with Pon
- 4:39Speaker 3: Carlos at fifteen, he taught me really great things technically,
- 4:44Speaker 3: but in terms of how I had to approach you know,
- 4:48Speaker 3: the match or the practices and how I have to
- 4:50Speaker 3: be you know, of the court. So it was uh,
- 4:53Speaker 3: you know, since the beginning, my father was really important,
- 4:59Speaker 3: uh person to you know, my career, just to make
- 5:02Speaker 3: the great things on the court as well. So I think, uh,
- 5:06Speaker 3: you know, since the beginning, they they made that really good,
- 5:09Speaker 3: great great work and then one Carlos uh kept it
- 5:13Speaker 3: you know in the in a good way.
- 5:14Speaker 1: We agree. We agree, Carlos, and we appreciate you coming
- 5:18Speaker 1: into the mac soone. We just had Odell Beckham Junior here,
- 5:21Speaker 1: who's your big fan of yours too, the great football player,
- 5:24Speaker 1: American football player from the US. So thank you for
- 5:28Speaker 1: joining us and good luck the rest of the turnline.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Carlos man appreciating it.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Us, I appreciate it.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Talk to us.
