- 0:00SPEAKER_03: Lim Rossinia.
- 0:02SPEAKER_03: Respect the paycheck.
- 0:05SPEAKER_03: Fair play to him.
- 0:06SPEAKER_03: I think he's meant it all along.
- 0:08SPEAKER_03: What is it?
- 0:08SPEAKER_03: Four million quid?
- 0:09SPEAKER_03: Four million pounds.
- 0:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, nice nice, isn't it?
- 0:12SPEAKER_03: That's my dream actually now.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: Are you going holiday or are you kicking about?
- 0:16SPEAKER_03: Never seen again.
- 0:17SPEAKER_03: No.
- 0:17SPEAKER_03: I am not applying for anything.
- 0:19SPEAKER_03: Never seen again.
- 0:21SPEAKER_03: It's better than a fourth choice keeper.
- 0:23SPEAKER_03: Somehow don't know.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: See you in the youth.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: You've somehow wangled the first team job as caretaker, you've done well.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: You've then got the job, you've got a couple of promotions, Premier League comes calling, sack me after six months.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: I'm not asked.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: Tell you what, works for a lot of them now, doesn't it?
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: But you've seen the grief he's got, what's the point?
- 0:41SPEAKER_03: He'll never shake that now, really.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: No, that's what he's going to be remembered for, isn't it?
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, the lad had a decent career as well.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: Um at home.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: But all you'll get from if you ever see him is his time at Chelsea.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So many things went against him though, didn't it?
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Like, obviously he didn't help yourself in the media when he was saying respect to ball and all that carry on, right?
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Nonsense.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: But he also had ex-players that he played with coming out and saying he wasn't like this and he's acting like that, and the glasses and stuff like that in it.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So it was just like everything was just like knocking him.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: I pull him up on BBC Radio Cumbria when he goes posh.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, shut up.
- 1:16SPEAKER_03: I don't go posh.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: My cousins that batter me as well sometimes.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: I put my phone voice on.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Wait till we've got going about the county cup.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: Thought he was well if she went that part.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: So Lame Rossini has played a tremendously good.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: You pop up somewhere in a couple of years, I'm telling you.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I think he might go back abroad, mate.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I think either go abroad or go into like England 21s or something.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: A couple of years walking away, and then he'll end up like a totem or something.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Do you reckon?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: But I'm going to say now he'll never he'll never end back up in the Premier League.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: I don't think he would.
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: I'd put our money on him, would I be annoyed if he had the desire to do that?
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: So I've been plumbing through that four mil.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: I've got to say, especially once that four mil's cleared.
- 2:00SPEAKER_03: Um 20 years since my collar United League 2 title win.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: I listened to the um the uh Paul Newton's Paul Newton, yeah, on uh BBC Sound.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: It was really, really good listening.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: To the BBC, done it, yeah, brought loads of interviews together.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: That's a good thing.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: I didn't realise it was you, just a bit of a Posha Geordie accent, but the the and the rest of the rest of the run.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: But no, it was good, really good.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: And uh I didn't know some of the lads thought the the cup final was a bit of a hindrance.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: The millennium.
- 2:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so it was the St Johnston's trophy back.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: It was Kev Grey that was saying LDV to be quite everything.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: So we got through to that with about 10 games to play, and we went to Swansea to play we went to Cardiff to play at the Millennium because remember he was getting built against Swansea, who were flying at the time, and it was 2-1 to them.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Crap, it was a nothing game.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: And uh I remember Simon the way back goes right, um, let's have a right kick on, and we won my next seven games and just just blew everyone off, and that took us.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Did you win it with games?
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: Didn't you have the chance to win it at home?
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: And you didn't and you'd have been sick then, wouldn't you?
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: We won it away.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: No, so we we got promoted away, and then the next week we had Torquay who were bottom at home in front of like 15,000 to like get the title, and we got beat two on.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: When I was listening to it, I was laughing thinking of you because you would have had your night plan and everything.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: No, but we had a game on the Tuesday, but which was gonna be we're all gonna be rested.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Then we had to go to Rochdale to win the title, but we won it.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: But it would have been nice to do it on the Saturday, but it's not the Carlisle way, is it?
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: Some team though.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was on that and on things like National League and promotions.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: I had a question straight in from Jonathan from Gilsland.
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: I feel three up is the way forward for the National League.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: It would shake League Two up with the same old teams just doing enough to stay up in the last few seasons, and in the last few seasons, the promoted teams from the National League have all pushed on, with some now playing League One.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: Understandably, League Two clubs will not want to change.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: How many of this year's National League teams could survive in League Two?
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: And how would the bottom of League Two fare in a National League?
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: But do you think it's got to be three now?
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: I do, yeah, because especially if two teams keep running away with it.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: Um the points tallies are ridiculous, and you're not getting rewarded for it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: So, and I do think it would shake it up as well.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: I think it would make it obviously a lot more exciting.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Um, probably with the teams that are coming down.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: And I mean, look at the show for example, Rochdale and York both deserve to go up, don't they?
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Um, from what they've done, and the way it finished on Saturday was mental.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: But yeah, for me, three up three down would definitely be the way forward for me.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: I'm all for it.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think so as well.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think you see the standard, like the games, and obviously you said the points tally is unbelievable.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And the probably teams in league two are just surviving.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And can I be nice to see a few more teams in there that are challenging and bigger teams dropping down and stuff?
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: I think years ago in the in the uh National League, there was Torquay, there was Grimsby, there was Ex uh there was Wrexham, there was Knotts County, there was about 12-13 teams who had been there and done it this year.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: Not so much.
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: I think the standard apart from the top five, six, isn't great.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: Um I think all top five, six would compete.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: I think Scunthorpe probably got a bit to do, they've got a young team, but I think South End would buy well, Rochdale would be okay, York.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: I think will go probably again.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: They'll kick on again.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: I think so.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: Momentum's massive.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: You spend some money as well, aren't they?
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: I know a few boys that are.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Did that happen with your team?
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we went straight up.
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: You went up and up again.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: But was that like did you feel like you could do it or or not?
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Not till about ten weeks in, then you go, actually we can do that.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: There's nothing to do.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: It's not that much a jump.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: The um I'd like to see how many there will be a stat.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: There's a lot done, it's a lot we were when we done it, we were like put in a group.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: We weren't like one of the only ones to do it.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah over the years.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: I just because like Steven Steven and stuff in it.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: Steven Hidge exit.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: Well, you know what it's like.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: If you've won a cup or if you've won a league, when you come in pre-season that next pre-season, you're already absolutely and they're probably just adding one or two rather than ripping up and starting again, innit?
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: When we won the National League Conference final, we went up, we just added, we reached a couple of big hitters, but they were getting on a bit, but I've done a great job.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: We got zero zero ziggo Aronaldi in.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: So it was like from the championship, left back.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: Um we you know we brought Bridgie in at a certain point.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: Um so it was just like Kieran Westwood was coming through and doing really well, and and Liv's in that had had it like a year there.
- 6:31SPEAKER_03: So now they've done very, very well.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: But I think I think any team that comes down, if it's how Harriget are doing well, stay out of it now.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: But anyone who comes down from League Two this year, I think they should be looking at the standard league to be in the top six coming into the season.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: I think any one of the top six that goes up should be looking to probably easily survive.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: I'd give Skunt thought that because that's two promo Skunt don't go up, that's two promotions because they came League North international.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that might just catch up with them.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they'll probably lose that.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Um I think it's Callum Roberts, the left winger.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think we should go for him.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, um, but yeah.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: No, on a skip county cup winners, yeah, yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Proud of the lads, done really well.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Um played Kirk Oswald last Tuesday, won 3-0.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Um could have been a potential banana skin, but the attitudes were brilliant.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: Um and it was pretty comfortable in the end.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: Who scored?
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Who scored?
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: Lee uh Jordan Irving got a hat-trick, um and obviously he gets all applauded, but there was all the lads were were fantastic on the night.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Thomas Randall, who's being on loan from Carly United, he saved a pen at 2-0.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: Did he?
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um and I mean I've already spoken like being in touch with Gav, just I can't praise him high enough because not because of what he's done performance-wise, his attitude towards everything's spot on.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Like, we've had a couple of lads from Carlisle in the past, and they've sort of maybe looked down the nose at the standard and the club that we are, yeah, but he's he's looked past that, and he's come and just he's been the the model pro, so yeah, special mention to him.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Um it was a brilliant save, and he's been brilliant for us.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: But yeah, the lads, I mean, we finished, I think we finished 14th or 15th, which could have been better.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: We had a right tough time after Christmas.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: Me and Kirky were panicking a bit, uh but yeah, we we sort of put it right near the end of the season, and and do you know what?
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: They're such a good bunch of lads, they're honest, they're they give everything.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: We've just lost big, big players at sort of the wrong time, and but as a as a group, um it's been it's obviously it's my first season there and I love them to bits like I love working with them, and they're just it's been brilliant.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: So we've got our end of season due in a couple of weeks, which will be I can imagine it'll be pretty quiet.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: So I may see one will it be.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Well done, well done to the lads as well.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: Uh a shout out to Inter Pirelli Sunda morning team finishing after a lot of years.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: They were ran by Duncan Adams and Jordan Pritchard Forrish.
- 9:02SPEAKER_03: Duncan Adams will be known as Bender, done a lot of footy right over the years.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: Uh ran teams 35s, the Sundays, the Saturdays, everything.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: So well known in Carlisle for his footy management, isn't he?
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's they've been a right force on Sun on Sunday mornings for for years and years, and I think they've they've pretty much dominated.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: I mean, they've they've always went close with the likes of Dent Norman, Scotty, and maybe a couple of others, but yeah, for what they've won over the last say, I don't know, possibly the last decade, they've they've had a right good team, so yeah, for them to finish is it's quite sad, but they've what they can look back and be proud of what they achieved.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: Six Premier Leagues and five county cups.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: So well done, inter Pirelli top draw.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: Anyway, let's get on to our latest episode.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Sponsor Dan Brown Mortgages, based at Warwick Bridge, independent mortgage and protected advisors, based near Carlisle, known for personal service and straight talk and advice.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: I know Dan, great lad, um, big Carlisle supporters, like his sons, sons of Jackson and Evan.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: The boys are massive Carlisle United supporters and have been in football since they were little, been involved all the way through.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: Um, as I say, Dan Brown Mortgages in the Warwick Bridge area, um, very involved in football and grassroots and Carlisle United.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: So thank you very much for that.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: And we can't do it without them.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: So we love all these sponsors very much.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: And uh we'll keep over the next couple of weeks posting everyone who's um sponsored us over since we started.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, bit of a reminder who it was.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and Dylan.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: Go on in a one-off match or a season together to be successful.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: I'll run in, you're in midfield.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: Who are you picking as your midfield partner?
- 11:11SPEAKER_03: Scott Brown or McGinn.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Oh bang, yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: You think you can come at me at who am I?
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: I'm coming news.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Um it's gotta be John McGinn, isn't it?
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: It's gotta be.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Has it?
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Tell me.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, tell me why I think so.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: I think just when you look the levels he's gone up, do you know what I mean?
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Like Captain Astonville in the Prem who been up.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: Scott Brown not have captained someone in the Prem.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Could he have a He could have captain, yeah, he definitely could have captained.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Could he be in the Premier?
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: He was an unbelievable captain.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: He could have been I think he could have played in the Prem, but different type of kind of player, do you know what I mean?
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Um again, probably down to what the manager probably wants in a midfielder, but John's probably more attack more attack-minded than he kind of plays on well, narrow on the right, coming inside.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And I I think I think Bruni could have played in the Prem, but John's went down and actually proved it, do you know?
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: And he's a captain and Champions League.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: Do you know when we say in the most respectful type of way when we say players we'd like to play against?
- 12:19SPEAKER_03: I know you just laughed when I said I'd rather play against Gerard because I kinda know he's not gonna get front me up and run at me, whereas I wouldn't like to play against Lampard because it's the running side.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: Would you rather play against the Brown because you kind of know the tackles are coming?
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, or McGain, I don't know, what who would you rather play against?
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: I I think I would probably, as you said, I'd probably rather play against Scott Brown because you you know it's black and white, do you I mean he's gonna be up for it and you're in a you're in a challenge, but if you can get on the ball and move it move it well and one two touch if you're on that you can come straight.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: You can you can you can have a decent game, do you know what I mean?
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: But um John's that kind of unpredictable player that he can obviously he gets that big arse and then you can't get you can't get near the ball and then he's got the running power and just a wee better kind of something else, I think, like that he just if he's going quiet in a game, he can just come up with something, run through a few tackles, won a corner's the odd wilde as well.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Aye, he's got a good strike, he's got a good strike.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: So aye, I think that kind of unpredictability with John's probably which edges it for me to be honest.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Right, we'll go back.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: Do you remember one of the players in Who Am I last week?
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: Which one did you get?
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: Darren Gibson, right?
- 13:33SPEAKER_03: Darren Gibson.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: So I've had a little text in from Busshead about Darren Gibson.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: So Paul Key was Academy Manager at Carlisle United, and they got Darren Gibson over as a young lad.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: Darren Kipps Darren Gibson came to look round Carlisle United.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Paul Key, the academy manager, said, give him a track suit, give him anything because he's gonna go to see Alex Ferguson at Marion United.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: So we're trying to, you know, there's a tracks, there's a pair of things.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: But said listen, we're gonna give him the keys to the club shop, he's not going to say for us.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: So it's one of them, isn't he?
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: The mum and dad have probably promised uh easy the scone, yeah.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: Keep them happy.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: Let's go and keep them happy, but uh, and yeah, so a tractor's not gonna do it, even the club shop's not gonna do it.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: I think he went down to Manu and that was it.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: But uh, well done, you two.
- 14:23SPEAKER_03: But we've had to change the rules of who am I?
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Because punters want to get involved in the show.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: Oh, right, so it's gotta go up.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: We can't just shout the name out more too quick.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: Listen, I'll give you zip.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: There's a tuner up, right?
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: But there's new rules.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: Hate to lose looking.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna give you a couple of facts, right?
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: You don't jump in.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: When I ring that bell, you give me an answer with still a couple of facts to go.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: If you can't answer it, wait till the bell goes again.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: I get half a point.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: Oh, right.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: And then we wait till the end, and if you get the answer, you get half a point, right?
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: Move the bell.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: Move the bells.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: Cheers, Adam.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, we couldn't have done it at the foot of the bell.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: So do you get it?
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: Not really, but let's go.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: Right, well, when you ring that bell again, when you ring that bell, you've got to try and try and get the right thing.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: But then if you don't, you've still got a few facts.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:22SPEAKER_03: Let's try it out again.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: 2-0 to use.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Born in Wandsworth in 1981.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: This player started his career with the Arsenal in 2001.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: But struggled to make the breakthrough.
- 15:35SPEAKER_03: Lone spells to gain experience to Brentford and Brighton followed before a permanent move to Redden on a four-year deal was completed.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah?
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: 168 games and 29 goals later, and winning the championship in Redden led him to a move back to the Premier League.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: No.
- 15:58SPEAKER_03: A free transfer to Chelsea in 2007 surprised pundits and supporters alike under Jose.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: Only 15 appearances were made before a move to Aston Villa, where Morgan Time came, playing 45 times, scoring three.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: Next port of call was Fulham from 2011 to 2014, playing 92 times, scoring 14.
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: In his last season at Fulham, they were relegated.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: So Mark Hughes swooped to take him to Stoke City from 2014 to 2016, playing 13 times, no goals.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: Alone, and then a permanent move to Brighton rounded off a decent career.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: 425 games, 57 goals.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: Who am I?
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Can I answer?
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Steve Sidwell.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: I was done.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Half for you, half for me.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Lummy's just read his autobiography there.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: And news are struggling.
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: I was like, I've got them, yeah, but then too easy, innit?
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: Near the end.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: Right, let's see.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Who am I?
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: Born in Shrewsbury in 1987.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: This player started his career at the famous Crew Academy, where he made his debut at 16 and played 130 times for the Alex, scoring eight goals.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: In 2007, he made a£250,000 move to Preston North End.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: The fee was based on appearance triggers.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: 160 matches and 13 goals later, a move to the Premier League was achieved to West Brom.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Crew to West Brom.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: No, there was something in between.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: Nope.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: In 2011, I say it.
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: In 2011, West Brom swooped for his services where he made 66 starts, just scoring one goal before rejecting a new contract so he could join Sunderland.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: At the Black Cats, he made a good start scoring his first goal in a time-wear derby, but ultimately it was part of the side that was relegated and was released.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: A final permanent move to Rotherham and then a three-game loan spell at Crewe drew his career to a close.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: 4-8-4 games, 25 goals, he's been on under the kosh.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: Crewe, Preston, West Brom, Sunderland.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: Judging by his age and judging by his goal record, I should tell you the position.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: He's a medfuelder or something or say he's 3940, isn't he?
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: No?
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Medfooder.
- 18:48SPEAKER_03: No?
- 18:48SPEAKER_03: Nah, no.
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: Billy Jones.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: Never got that.
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: No, I wouldn't either.
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: Get in.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: So one and a half.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: So you are two and a half.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: One and a half.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: You're back in the game, aren't you?
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: Right, so you get it.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: Anyway.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: Better way to do it as well.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: And now the punters.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Well, they can they want to do a janitor.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: I've got a couple for you next week.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, my dumb.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: I'm going to play to you next week.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: Black and white TVs here.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: I'm going to play to you next week, don't worry.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: Anyway.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: Skip last week.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: Quote unquote, I don't like vests.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: What vests?
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: He said he doesn't like vests.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: He's a prick, you know.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: What you went on to your He doesn't like vests.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: Vests in the gym, I said.
- 19:31SPEAKER_03: So I've had an email.
- 19:35SPEAKER_03: An email.
- 19:36SPEAKER_03: From Dabba Houston.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Hey, just caught up on last week's episode.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: Skip saying he can't get away with vests.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: Ask him about 2006, Magaluff, when him and Hooley wore two vests.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: Yes, two vests, contrasting colours, tucked into a pair of jeans on a night out.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: Tragic.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: They thought they were the absolute bollocks.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: Even worse, when on our last night they made Dean Lambi wear a black, a baggy black and white vest tucked into his baggy Armani jeans.
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: Worst dressed man and MAGA.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: Now, before Skip denies it, I've got evidence.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: We're all young ones.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Oh it's not me.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: That's that's not me.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: That's what you call it.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: That's that's not me.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: That's the eye, isn't it?
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: You're like a young error.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: That wasn't it?
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Freddie Mercury.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: I was never in that shape.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: See, you just had the wheat ash.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: What they're gonna be pleased with.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: You were pleased with that.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: Put it on one of all your own.
- 20:41SPEAKER_03: His arms are alright.
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: We were gonna go with a bigger one, but you know.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you what I was thinking.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: Is that me, but it wasn't me?
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: It sounds shocking though, that description.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: And then it's bad, mate.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: The thing was, I seen Dom, his wife, shopping on uh Sunday in Sheelear and she went, what's he on about?
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: He loves a vest on holiday.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: And that's well after Magalov.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: Love that.
- 21:06SPEAKER_03: Right, pet peeves.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: We've had a right email in some.
- 21:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we've had a right email in, yeah.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: Have you got one?
- 21:14SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be new lads.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: Regarding the gym last night last week, I feel like under the cushion.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: I won't say my name, but going off your convo last week regarding people filming their workouts, Lummy getting his eye nearly took out by a tight, short, tight, shorted idiot, and Dylan on about the lasses with their headphones takes me back to a few weeks ago when I got myself in the shit.
- 21:41SPEAKER_03: So a lady was doing her workout, and for one reason or the other, I'm invested and I'm watching.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: I wonder what their reasons were.
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: After around three to four sets, the lady in question walks over to her water bottle but first picks up her phone, which was recording.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: Fuck.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: Oh no.
- 21:59SPEAKER_03: So When she looks back at the footage, she's going to see me looking on.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: But that's not it.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Said lady must have been happy with the form, posture, etc., of her workout.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: As that night, I'm sitting watching the Halifax v Carlard United matching on the zone when my missus screams, you prick.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: Yep, my last followers, said lady, and watchers her bids.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: And it was just me, her boyfriend of six years, Gorbin.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: Needs to say it, that was a tough week, but we've all been there, right, lads?
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: It's had a big time.
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: I was struggling to keep this from you as this time.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: So yeah, we got on to a little bit last week about the gym.
- 22:44SPEAKER_03: We then got on to our pet peeves.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: Anyone got more pet peeves?
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Because I've had a right week of it.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: Well, mine's just little household things.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: My missus gets parcels all the time, right?
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: So there's loads of cardboard.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Do you know the green bag?
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: You get a few parcels.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: I don't get many.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: So you know, she'll open the box and she'll just place the cardboard in the green bag.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: Crush it down.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, you may crush it down.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: So it's what my missus just literally opens the back door and just throws it out.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: And then says to me eventually going, Oh, you need to drop the green bag.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: That comes around at that.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: Jeeves.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: Aye, so that's mine.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: She just she just won't crush it.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Like, if you're gonna get all this cardboard, crush it down in the bag.
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Mine?
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Mine.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: People queuing in a line at a bar.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: When there's a full bar.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: Well behind the ball.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: When there's still a bar.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: When there's a full bar.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: So the other week there's a queue, and I've walked to the front.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: People I went, Don't worry about it.
- 23:43SPEAKER_03: I know who's next.
- 23:44SPEAKER_03: The bar staff should know who's next.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: I'll let you in.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: But and I had a little rant at the bar, so I went, You should be letting them along, and you should know like proper barmen know how to do that and bar women.
- 23:54SPEAKER_03: And there is a few goodens who say, Stop standing back, come forward.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: That's somebody that's been in bars, isn't it?
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: And the pubs.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Well, every somebody's gonna be.
- 24:01SPEAKER_03: I won't name the bar round here because I sometimes go in, but when you walk in, there's a bar for there's a line for the food, and there's a line for the bar, and they're both coming out the side doors, and you walk in, you go, What's the point?
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: So they're losing.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Just give them away.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: People like coming across that as well, and they go to the toilet or whatever.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Like we're all nice enough to go you're next, aren't we?
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: I know, yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: There's no need to push in, is it?
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: Do you want us another one?
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: Another pet peeve, but I this thing of players standing in front of the crowd at the end of games.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: So De Canyo done it years ago or something, didn't he?
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: He walked over at West Brom and he was going chin up and that and they were going fuck off.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: But even the Chelsea players at Brighton, like even though it's a few.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: How long are they standing there for?
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: It we talked about a couple of weeks ago, or well, a month ago.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: Give them a clap and off you go.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: That's what you used to do, didn't you?
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, I mean, you're what do you do?
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: You just give we we go over and like give them a clap, but we don't like stand there for ages, they're standing still for like a couple minutes, just taking them abuse.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: It is awkward, that's what it is.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: But then it's like it's social media, do you know?
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: It's just standing there getting abused by the fans, and then if anybody gets any reaction towards the fans, like oh fuck, like whatever, but it's the other thing, and it's like they all pounce on it saying like, oh, you should just stand there and take it.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: It's like go over, give them a clap and give them.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: I don't mind like the true row stuff when you go down and the fans have travelled miles, so you go over and there's a reason for that though, isn't it?
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: If you win as well, I mean see if you win, you go over and see the fans and give them a top or whatever.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Somebody wants to give them a top or whatever.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: Oh, you couldn't give a top under bus head, remember?
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, I've got another one though.
- 25:32SPEAKER_03: Get it off your chest, go on when people are you're driving and that and whoever's in the carrier's on their phones or just blasts out like they're watching like shorts or something, and the volumes on loud.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: What is the you're driving there, the passenger?
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: Aye, turn it off.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: I'll get your head full.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: I've got one for you.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: The miss and it's something similar with that.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: Lying in bed, try to get to sleep.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: Missus is watching something next minute, bang, music right in my ear.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Nightmare.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Or get that all two easy are sitting your phone, saying the couch, right?
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: Two's are sitting on your phone, nothing's on TV.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: But she decides that she's can't be bothered looking at her phone anymore, so she puts it, she puts it down and then starts giving you grief about it.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Are you just gonna sit in your phone?
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: It's like, well, just because you've decided that you can't be bothered scrolling, I'm still like part sixteen of it.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: How a cow's getting the hoof took it because I'm you watch anything, don't you?
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: You end up just like you need to do it.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: I am down like part sixteen or something.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: But think we'll get some more in.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: I've got fours up.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: I like that, yeah.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: Right, York Rochdale.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Can I address one thing first?
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: Yes, good punch.
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: Oof, wasn't it?
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: Fair play.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: It was a superman punch, wasn't it?
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: Remember Chuck Lidell used to give it the old.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: It's like drop back, hasn't he?
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: I spoke to a few people over the weekend now ago, and he's out of order.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: How's he out of order?
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: Been attacked at his workplace.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: I've seen pictures of him, like the guy like I think he's gotten with the throat while he was down.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: He has.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: I seen it this morning.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: I was very wrong.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: Because I when he seen it from an angle, I went, is that man trying to pick him up and help?
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: But I've seen it the other way, and I'm like, nah, he wasn't.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: He's another one.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: That's not the first time he's through a punch.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: That's a good punch, wasn't it?
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: He knows what he's doing there, and he's dropped him as well.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: So everyone was crowded.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: My so I left the Carl L match about five minutes from nah 25 shite.
- 27:12SPEAKER_03: Uh went back into the fan zone.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: And to be fair, my battery had drained a lot that day.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: So I had it ready for this match.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: Um, last 10 minutes, watched it, and I've shouted.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: Rochdale have done it, they've scored, they've won it, so everyone's round.
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: And then my battery was drained, so I had to turn it off for a bit while they got the like the game going again, turned it back on, and then I thought there's no way in the world York will score you.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: You've got a minute.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: What do you do?
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: Do you give it back to the key any launch?
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: Which is a bit obvious, or do you play it wide?
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Know that Rochdale are gonna sit right back and try and get a better ball in.
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: But to get that goal, like just keep on our should they keep on our hold, the initial shot.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: The one it comes down, yeah.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: How brave's the linesman, aye giving it.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: I think it's in.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: I think I think it is in now, but fair play.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: But but I think we are actually in the situation, yeah.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: The reaction of the players, I think, also maybe helps the linesman give him yeah, because as soon as he hits it, the boy they start he rips his top off and starts running towards like the and it's almost like it's making his mind up, innit?
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: Like I might be jumping the gun here, but what about the the rochdale?
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: Don't he's on a watch go on a carry a watch.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: So can Rochdale mentally recover from that?
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: I would rather not have scored the first then if you're gonna draw, I'd rather just I would rather just you know being the draw without you can go both ways though, can it?
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: You can think they'll never recover for that, or it's a case of like we're no ending the season with that.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: Like use it as motivation to to go and win.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: But I would say Yorker on the fourth day of the bender.
- 28:46SPEAKER_03: Still got the strips on.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: And and Rochdale are doing sprints today.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: That's what that's exactly they've got to be in the head, hasn't it?
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: They'll seeing it all online thinking they're in the booze and all that.
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: But the worst bit was you when you just get in the playoffs, it was four weeks.
- 28:57SPEAKER_03: So it was always the the playoff finals were always say you finished April 28th or May 5th, playoff week was all final week was always the end of May.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's far too long.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: So you have a week.
- 29:08SPEAKER_03: It's far too long, isn't it?
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: I like this in the National League, it's done and done.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, in a week, yeah.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: Because my teams want to go away and take you like a five days of Spain or something, but please some friendlies, but it's no the same, has it?
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: No, do you know what?
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: It was a bit of a fairy tale as well.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: The it was Henderson, wasn't he?
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Who put it in with the outside of his foot 40-year-old.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, the rotten was it his cross?
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Great cross, out of cross on the lads.
- 29:27SPEAKER_02: Pullet head in, you think that's what a way for probably him to finish and then up the other end.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: He got some new butts delivered today, Henderson.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: I guess I follow him.
- 29:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:36SPEAKER_03: So he seems a bit chirpy.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: So he's ready to go, isn't he?
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Well, he wants to play at Wembley.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: Imagine that, going out at Wembley.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Well, that's how we can turn football.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: He could score the win at Wembley, couldn't he?
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: Well, you don't want him to, but he he could do so.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: Uh Oli Banks got um interviewed on Talk Sports seven o'clock on Monday morning.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we played.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: Is that where McCoyst?
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: I half six he got in.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: Seen it.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: Unbelievable, yeah.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: I didn't see him.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: No, I meant you got I think he said he had an hour, but he six o'clock they knocked it.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Oh, six o'clock.
- 30:02SPEAKER_03: And then Oli Pierce came on a little bit later on, I think, and he was like, they went, What you up to?
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: And he's like, We're gonna like we're meeting back out.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Gotta know what a deal.
- 30:11SPEAKER_03: It's a bit old school, ain't it?
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: They've gone like we're just gonna have a right go over the next like few days and just get I was uh in between houses when I won't the conference final and I got in about five o'clock in the morning from Carlisle.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: Kev Henderson didn't drink, took us home because we kicked off in Stoke about five o'clock, six o'clock.
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: Got in four in the morning from Carlisle, had a little kip.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: Mam came in about nine o'clock.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: I was getting changed.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: She went, What you up to?
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: I went, Mam, I'll see you in five days.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm away.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: Seen pit of boxes.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: He would have been a disgrace, by the way.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: He'd have rinsed everything.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: Let me let me let me get you a beer, man.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: No problem.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: You're gonna run all sorts of shoulders and all sorts, won't he?
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: So fair play to York and fair play to Rochdale.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: But that's where they should both be up there.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: They should be, they both deserve to be up there, don't they?
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: Carl United playoffs.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: I think Hugh's done the right thing, a little bit of rest for people on Saturday.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: Worked out well, didn't it?
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: But I'm thinking this Forest Green is gonna have to be the showdown because Savage called it months ago.
- 31:11SPEAKER_03: He said, I can't wait to get Carl in the playoffs.
- 31:13SPEAKER_03: I kind of want it to be them because imagine the atmosphere, it'll crank up.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: I think it's better for Kale's more.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: I think it's better for Khalil.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Even they might be more challenging on another team, but the whole thing behind the Savage and all the interviews, and sometimes that just creates yeah.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: Rather than just being like another team that you think, right, confident we can go and go and beat them.
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: If you were Colel player, and I know Borum would have been good, and they've I think they've got a couple of players in that team who are gonna move on now, Borumwood, they've got no fear, have they?
- 31:45SPEAKER_03: Because these lads are gonna get the move.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Um but I I just think a whole match how many tickets already?
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: Seven and a half thousand.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: There's gonna be more, it'll be I would want to play on that.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um I'm I'm the same as you.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: Um I I'd I'd much prefer Forest Green just because of the Robbie Savage thing's got a lot to do with it.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: I just think it would ramp it up so much, there would be there'd be so much around it.
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: And but have they gone against Boringwood this season?
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: We drew it home, didn't we?
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: Early doors, it was early early in the season.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: Did we beat them?
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: What about away?
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: I think we might have beat them.
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so we were 3-1 up against them at home, I think.
- 32:26SPEAKER_03: That's right, yeah.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: Um obviously we lost away and we've beat Forest Green twice, haven't we?
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: In uh away from home, I think they played really it was on the telly of the late kickoff, wasn't it?
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: So had your boy scored that goal and they played well.
- 32:37SPEAKER_03: It was a good game here at Brunton Park.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: Oh, seven and back, yeah.
- 32:40SPEAKER_03: It was a good game.
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: I think they've got a bit of power.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: Forest Green have got a bit about them.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: I think Savage has just probably messed with the team quite a lot.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: He probably doesn't know his best team.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: No, by the way, what would he be like if he ended up?
- 32:54SPEAKER_02: He would love it, wouldn't he?
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: Do you think he'll um he'll have security, won't he?
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: He'd have to.
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: Do you think he'll stare down the paddock this time?
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he will, of course, he will.
- 33:02SPEAKER_03: You know what he's like.
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: He was such a superman punches.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: They'll need to make sure they're the wall.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: They'll need to make sure they're gonna be able to write.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: Imagine the bus coming in, can't you?
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: Good content for us, though, I suppose.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: No, brilliant.
- 33:12SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: Do you think they'll do it?
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: Get to Wembley or get up going up with the whole thing.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: Er I just think I don't know.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Uh I think they'll get to Wembley and then I don't know.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: I think that's a bare minimum, innit?
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: Obviously, I think bare minimum is to go up.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: Like, but I'm desperate to get to Wembley, like yeah, if you don't even get there, then it's a disaster, isn't it?
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: It's a disaster.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: What would the reaction be if they got beat Sunday?
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: Could turn very toxic very quickly.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: It could be a Sunday night emergency podcast.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: I'll be slurring.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: You get kicked as a bang holidays or kicker.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: Hey, we could um have a few scoops, can't we?
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, imagine that one.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Decent.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: Moving on.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: Premier League.
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: Tottenham, West Ham, battling it out just up between them now, isn't it?
- 34:05SPEAKER_03: Two blinks first.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: You go and Tottenham down.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: That's killed them.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, West Ham.
- 34:09SPEAKER_02: Um the two injuries.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: Even if they got the draw, because it was a draw when Tottenham went ahead, wasn't it?
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: And then the have you seen the West Ham game though?
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: I think there was supposed to be a red card like question mark, a red card for a West Ham player.
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: And then I think one of the the the handball.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: Have you seen the handball in the box?
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: Could have been a pen as well.
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: But is it Wills they played?
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: The uh Tottenham played Wolves.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: Uh who played West Ham again?
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Everton.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: Everton should have had a pen as well.
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: So that's Tottenham.
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: As you just said, Tottenham, two injuries.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: Simons and uh Solanke.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Clone Watch.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: I know we'll go on to it.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: Right, we'll get the bigger.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: The physio potential.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: Have you seen wait?
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: Hold it.
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: Wait, well, keep your powder dry.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: We'll get there.
- 34:53SPEAKER_03: So Arsenal City.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: Arsenal had a good win against Newcastle.
- 34:58SPEAKER_03: They weren't convincing at all.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: But you know what?
- 35:00SPEAKER_03: They Newcastle's just bad.
- 35:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: I think that's anyhow.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: Do you just there's too many stories about it?
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: There's too many.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: You know what they do?
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: They do it well.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: The tap journalists to write stories about it and see fans what they say.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: So six weeks ago and no one wanted it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_03: Now there's people saying, you know what, and that's why they do it, because then they can justify it saying, you know what, I think it's time.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: If I was Eddie, I'd just be going, right, get me in the bombers.
- 35:27SPEAKER_03: Although I think bomb, they've got a job.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: I've got to see him link with Chelsea today.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: Who?
- 35:31SPEAKER_03: How?
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: Done a good job, just needs a bit more dough.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: It'd be a bad one.
- 35:39SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 35:39SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: He'll get he'll get somewhere with his reputation money.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: So Scottish League.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: What are Rangers doing?
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: They got battered as well.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: I watched most of it.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: Did they?
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: Aye.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: And then obviously I brocks when it starts heating up, they got back, scored a few goals, and then they had a few chances to go on and won it their cell, but Motherwell like outplayed them, like the proper manager, proper good.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: Um aye.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: And fair play to Motherwell, do you know they had a good season, so they have, but they they've struggled the last few weeks, like not getting results, and then to go to Ibrox and get a win.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: Massive.
- 36:16SPEAKER_03: Did you see that holiday on just how they done it?
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: How this I don't want to say too much, but everything the manager done.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: Played before they played a false nine, didn't they?
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: They did play with a striker.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: Played two of them like wide, and then they were dropping in, and they two sent a half didn't know what to do.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: The Rangers sent a half did not know what to do.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: Honestly, and fair like, see, even the last goal, they're too they go two and all two each last five minutes, keeper gets the ball.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: You think any other Motherwell team is just the goal is dropping, yeah, killing time gets the ball, throws it to the left back, and the full team just charging up to go up goal three, two, and they go and win it.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: So the whole mentality of the club like has changed massively.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Motherwell manager's got linked somewhere as well.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: He's got a chance to be fair to him.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: Right, you ready?
- 37:03SPEAKER_03: Clown watch.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Do you want mine?
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Stephen Presley and Dundee.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: Getting beat 3-0 in a derby.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: I just need one card from a bet.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: No yellow cards.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: Anyone putting a challenge in a 3-0 down in a derby or what?
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: It's because you've got a bet on.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: That's exactly what it is.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: So Stephen Presley.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: I'm getting it Rochdale fans, the whole fan base.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: Well, the whole everybody that was in that stadium.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: I think if they don't run on the pitch, it's over.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: So they score in the last minute, they go celebrate, whatever it is, settles down, minute or two later they kick off.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: You hit you you see it out for another minute or two easily.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: But they all run on a pitch, and how long did they add on?
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: What 13 minutes or something?
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: So it's almost like they gave them an extra 10-15 minutes to go and try out a goal to come back into the game.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: I don't care what you say as well, there was a lot added on to that what the actual game bit.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: Isn't that like I reckon there was a minute if that and then he played two, hasn't he like that?
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: But because what's happened, do you know that?
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: But why is why is like most teams like it's happened a few times in Scotland as well.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: They score and then they run on a pitch before the final whistle.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: Oh no, to make anything.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: I don't get like maybe one or two, I get like if spilling over and stuff.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: But it ends up like about a hundred people on the pitch.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: And then it takes somebody to get off, and then there's obviously we've seen the carry on the ringers, don't we?
- 38:23SPEAKER_02: Go on then.
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: Do you need do you need his name?
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: I need his name, but that little dance was uh Toby Ajival Rowling.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: Did you see him?
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: He was having him something.
- 38:32SPEAKER_03: So he's 29, you know.
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: Is he not a kid?
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: That's a shit.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: So at 1 0.
- 38:36SPEAKER_03: Doing that dance and a shit.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: He must have got.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: He's still media or filming him, aren't there?
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: And he's doing a dance.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: What's he doing?
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: He's doing little different things, isn't he?
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: What's he doing?
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: Like some sort of like eating.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: Having a fish.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: But it was if he's like eating something and he was doing like a dance.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: Clown.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Absolute clown.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: It was bad.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: It was bad, but it's come back to bite him on the ass.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: But see, when you watch that, you think like you're glad.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm glad that's a good one.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: When you see stuff like that, obviously it's you'll be gutted if you're involved with that club, Rochdale.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: But when you see things like after the game, you're thinking that's why everybody's laughing at you.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, like to go and concede.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: But uh any more clowns?
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: No, no, not for nothing.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Tottenham Physio?
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: Tottenham Physio.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Boy Simons has done his ACL.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: He runs over and he's got the the ice spray.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: He's spraying it, and then they're making him like run up and down and jump and stuff like that.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: Sort of clown physios, like clowns.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: You think like if you can't if you can't like see a an ACL at that.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: You do that little test, don't you?
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some sort of thing.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: If the reaction sponge and the spray.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: I'd I've well I've done my media lap crew for Port Vale, and obviously that was Matt Ratcliffe, the physio was like really good physio.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: Matt Ratcliffe.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: Matt Ratcliffe.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: Matt no so it's just before half time.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: I've blocked Dean Ashton's shot.
- 39:59SPEAKER_02: Well, you know how he could my leg fucking nearly come off.
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: And I've like I knew straight away.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: So he's he's doing all, and Brian Horton's going, just run it under the cold tap.
- 40:09SPEAKER_02: It's like it doesn't work like that.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: He's like he can't go back on.
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: And luckily enough, like he had a bit of a back and forth with him, and I came off and I was out for months.
- 40:17SPEAKER_03: I had a hernia um the the summer after the playoff win going into League Two.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: I had a hernia, and Dennis Booth went, You'll be alright, just get some speed or shorts, tie them tight, and it'll pop him back in.
- 40:30SPEAKER_03: I went, it's not 1958, Dennis.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Like it w that won't work.
- 40:37SPEAKER_03: I'd broke my nose again against Berry.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: So I've gone in, nose is all over my face, and I've took my top off, and I'm just thinking, like, oh I wish I hope this is fixed for later.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna then simmo starts going, Lummy, I want you to get further forward, second half.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: I went, eh?
- 40:54SPEAKER_03: Come on, played?
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Did you?
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Alright, but then luckily, guess what happened?
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: I got knocked again back in.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Kind of kind of knocked it back, still not back in, but made it a bit better.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: But aye.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: Anyway, that's a few clowns.
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: What's the crack?
- 41:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:11SPEAKER_03: Sponsored again by our good friend Julian at the bed centre.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: And I know this off by heart now.
- 41:17SPEAKER_03: New and use furniture at Brooke Street.
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: Does water beds as Skip and Dom, though?
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: Can't believe you had a water bed.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: And all sorts.
- 41:28SPEAKER_03: Kids' furniture, kids' beds a lot.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: So thank you again.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: This is a shout out to Skip for being a Liverpool supporter.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I am, yeah.
- 41:36SPEAKER_03: Hi lads.
- 41:37SPEAKER_03: Decent podcast.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: Decent.
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: Great stories.
- 41:41SPEAKER_03: What's your thoughts on what's gone for l wrong for Liverpool this season?
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: Bad transfer activity, poor management, player attitudes, keep up the good work.
- 41:50SPEAKER_03: Michael.
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: I don't know, really.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: I mean has this slot needs some credit though, because everyone keeps saying a lot of people keep saying you just took over um Klopp's team.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: Klopp's team.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: But there's more we know there's more than that, yeah.
- 42:05SPEAKER_03: We know there's more to it than that.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: To win the league again.
- 42:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, look what they've spent on that that Vert, is it?
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: I mean, has he done has he done enough?
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: They've got that Kirk as at left back.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: Ah, he's been first day of the season against Bournemouth.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Is it any of the things?
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: So the signings, if you on the whole Isaac's not really he'd done his whatever injury he had, he's just back and he's he's scored.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: He was struggling before that as well.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's only that one.
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he mile from that.
- 42:31SPEAKER_02: He was sort of but he's he's another one, isn't he?
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: He's out now, isn't he?
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I mean you can look at the signings, but yeah, they've they've underachieved.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, the money they've spent and stuff.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: And do you think uh Jot has got to take a big thing in it though?
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's got to be so tough to take.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, look, I mean people people say at the start of the season, it doesn't hit you then, hits you like four or five months later, yeah, about the grief and all that.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: And you don't know you don't know how close certain lads were to him, um, and how they deal with it away from football.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: And you've got to be your head's gotta be straight to perform, hasn't it?
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: And um a lot of the time, so if they're they're away, there's a reminder every game.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: Every time every got every time you're gonna go.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: Them training grounds, you see the videos and that they're they're like resorts.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: Like they're proper restaurants and that and they're sitting about having coffee and they're together a lot more now than they used to be, they are for hours and hours on end, aren't they?
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: So they're not just like training and shooting away, like they're literally spending most of their day imaging the all the sports science stuff, the gym, the masseurs, and aye.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: You can there was def you can definitely see that it's it has affected them.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: But on the pitch, performance wise, two of the main men of two of the main men of Salah and Van Dyke, what are they?
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: 3335, Annie.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: It's been off.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: Actually, to be fair.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Van Dyke's not been no been at it either, is it not?
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, don't say that, you said you were getting them on.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: I ticked him, but he's um two ticks.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's not read it yet.
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: Alright, so cheers for that, Michael.
- 43:57SPEAKER_03: Got another one.
- 43:58SPEAKER_03: Hi up, lads.
- 43:59SPEAKER_03: Thanks for For your podcast.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: Enjoying and lit.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: Enjoying listening to the life of a professional footballer, especially the behind-the-scenes stories.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: Not that professional, some of the stories.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: Of course, the Carlisle United views and experiences are particularly interesting.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: A good few years ago now, my two lads were mascots for the Carlisle and Newcastle United preseason friendly.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: Big Sam was in the tune hot seat at the time with Neil MacDonald in at Carlisle.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: It was a boiling hot day in a pack Brunton Park.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: Ziggy Arinalde, Captain Thills, and a certain Chris Lumson were fantastic with my boys, and the football was pretty good.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: Newcastle either won it or drew with a late Nobby Solano goal.
- 44:37SPEAKER_03: Drew volleyed last minute, top corner.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: Oh good Nobby, man.
- 44:41SPEAKER_03: There's been some talk about food and players fueling themselves recently, which takes me back to a little scene where Danny Livsey met up with Big Sam.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: They had a nice catch-up conversation because Danny was uh apprentice at both.
- 44:56SPEAKER_03: So Big Sam pulled him in.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: And what sticks in his mind is Sam encouraging Danny, who in turn promised that he was finished going to McDonald's.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: I think sports nutrition was something Sam was very keen on, but what was this common in clubs back then?
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: For instance, did Carlisle provide any help guidance in this regard, or were players left to their own devices?
- 45:17SPEAKER_03: Also, guys, were the big game friendlies helpful for the players, or was it better to play a lower ranked team and develop fitness and build method of play?
- 45:26SPEAKER_03: Thanks again and looking forward to the next episode.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Cheers, Dean.
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: So back then Sport Science wasn't a big thing, was it?
- 45:33SPEAKER_03: You kind of knew what to you kind of knew what to eat, didn't you?
- 45:36SPEAKER_03: In the morning.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: We've talked about it, haven't we?
- 45:39SPEAKER_03: Scram or Friday night, scrambled egg, beans, chicken, dry pasta, horrendous tomato sauce, crumble, with all the lads running over at the crumble first.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: It was, it was, it was straightforward what you got, wasn't it, man?
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: All the pre-match and stuff was always the same.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but like you said, the sports energy wasn't the thing, was it?
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: It wasn't like you didn't have them sort of people involved with the clubs.
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: It used to be a bit of a steak and not chips, but steak on a on a Friday night as well.
- 46:06SPEAKER_03: And different eating times are different now, half twelve in the morning.
- 46:09SPEAKER_03: Trying to I mean Rooney, you said didn't he the other week, trying to get a spag ball down and Parmesan at nine in the morning and that.
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: I know, I mean, like, listen, it's it's it it's no secret that my eating habits weren't the best when I was a player, my weight was up and down all the time, so I just up and up.
- 46:29SPEAKER_02: I just went through I got so many fines on way day, it was ridiculous.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Um I remember my second year at Port Vale.
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: I got back from holiday two days before and I got on the scales, and he was disgusted with Why did you go two days before?
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: You've got to get yourself at least ten days.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: But I but there was me, and luckily enough, there was me and a couple others, and we we did do extra like and it was old school where they just ran us till we were nearly sick and then weighed every other day, and they basically wanted a couple of pounds every couple of days off, and we sort of done it.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: But like we said, back then you sort of went back to get fit, didn't you?
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: But you you can't go back and a certain shape, like something I always remember that was the worst I ever was.
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: Um and it hindered us, like I couldn't get gone, do you know what I mean?
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: I couldn't get gone, it took us a while to get up to speed.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: I think physically the game's moved on in it massively.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: Like you see now, like the numbers, like top teams that are performing now, like but as when I say back in your day, but even when I started as well, it wasn't like sports science wasn't like crazy, like the managers weren't fixated on like how many kilometres you were running and stuff.
- 47:31SPEAKER_00: Do you know?
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: It was almost like with the eye, like you need to you need to lose a bit or you need to get yourself going that sort of thing, but now everything's just like millimetres, yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: Testing you all the time, weighing you, sorting what you're eating, and all this kind of stuff.
- 47:45SPEAKER_00: So aye, I think people players are much more aware now what you should be kind of eating, do you know what I mean?
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: And the whole drinking culture is not as not as big, even though there's probably a couple that are still old school, do you know what I mean?
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: At like a pint, but say Grealish picture today.
- 47:59SPEAKER_03: His mates are haven't get him home.
- 48:03SPEAKER_03: Why is he asleep there?
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: Like fast as like fast asleep.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: Like he's obviously someone went, he got there at five, he's asleep by six.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: He's obviously been out since twelve.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: No, he's not an hour.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: Someone's went he's only been out an hour.
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: No, he hasn't.
- 48:16SPEAKER_03: Like, this is his like day and a half's worth that.
- 48:19SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 48:19SPEAKER_02: Then he's that's he was slumped though, wasn't he?
- 48:22SPEAKER_02: He was uh but you you don't know the ins and outs, isn't it?
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: I mean he's injured.
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: But he's had this he's had this interview before, hasn't he, where he said, like, you don't know how professional I am.
- 48:30SPEAKER_02: I can of course, but then when he when he lets loose.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: He's in good shape, seems to let loose in the name.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: In good shape.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: I've seen him he's topping that off lately.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he looks in good nick, doesn't he?
- 48:37SPEAKER_00: He's he's in good nick.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: He's not like he's not perfect, not professional, but he does like a drink.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: And when you go for that sort of money in these sort of teams he's playing for, yeah.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: Who's taking these pictures though?
- 48:48SPEAKER_02: Like Cleveland.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: But that it's his mates on the table, it seems like it's that one.
- 48:52SPEAKER_03: Well, it's the same one who took the picture of you and your vest, Magaliv.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Dabba's just Texas, actually.
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: This better not be the thong one.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: What about big game friendlies?
- 49:02SPEAKER_03: One off was good.
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: You play the Newcastle's, but then you need to be playing Scotland.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: We used to play a Scotland team because they were always a week or two weeks ahead, and you get your arse felt off them.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: We always go up to Scotland because you were always two weeks ago.
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you go back earlier up there, yeah.
- 49:17SPEAKER_03: St Johnston and things like that.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: When they were in the Prem, St Johnston, uh Hart, um Rangers kind of B team.
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: Played a few games.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: Kaleo still do that now.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: Kaleo still go up and play.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know about this year, but the years I was there, they still go up and play the B team and that quite often.
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: It's not far, obviously.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: But Carlo used to have one big friendly, didn't they?
- 49:36SPEAKER_02: At home as well, but have they done it recently or not?
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: But sometimes problems with the pitch.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: We played um Dun United.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: No, it's not like a huge, huge.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: We played Dun United.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: Ah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: Uh the centre forward, is he called Watt?
- 49:48SPEAKER_00: Tony Watt played out.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: Tony Watt played.
- 49:50SPEAKER_03: I looked decent.
- 49:51SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, but I agree with that though.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: I think one's enough.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: One's enough.
- 49:55SPEAKER_03: It's good playing them though.
- 49:56SPEAKER_03: Like, oh, yeah, yeah, of course.
- 49:58SPEAKER_03: MacDonald left us out, prick.
- 50:01SPEAKER_03: Anyway, see his kosh.
- 50:05SPEAKER_03: Right, anyway.
- 50:06SPEAKER_03: Barry Williams has been on.
- 50:08SPEAKER_03: Lads, good crack again.
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: Early morning watch for me.
- 50:11SPEAKER_03: Can't sleep, had a knee replacement earlier on in the day.
- 50:15SPEAKER_03: When you were talking about Carlisle's selection for Saturday's Brackley game in case of injuries for the big games coming up, meaning, would you rest some?
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: He rested a couple, which I think was right.
- 50:26SPEAKER_03: And are pain killing injections not an option in football now for players to play in one or two big games?
- 50:33SPEAKER_03: We'll keep this question as well.
- 50:35SPEAKER_03: I played a different sport, and somehow someone from the team would be getting one most weeks, pushing on as long as they can before getting an operation.
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: So I dislocated me, tote, jilling them away.
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: Got it again, thought I was going off.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: Physio clicked it back into place, carry on.
- 50:52SPEAKER_03: Eh, it hurts.
- 50:54SPEAKER_03: And I got it clicked right in front of the we end.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: So I couldn't like give it that, and I just went do it.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: Please don't.
- 51:01SPEAKER_03: And then from then I uh every game I didn't really train, I had to get injection, but without anesthetic.
- 51:11SPEAKER_03: And the doc used to do it, and it was funny because the doc used to do it call out, and he was the blessed god, he was like a butcher.
- 51:18SPEAKER_03: And I got it done in the playoffs at Leeds, and the doctors came, I couldn't feel a thing.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: I was going where you being the last six months.
- 51:24SPEAKER_03: But I was reading the other day, like obviously just numbing.
- 51:28SPEAKER_03: Numbs, it can't just goes, goes class, like literally within 10 minutes.
- 51:34SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 51:34SPEAKER_03: So I'll have it.
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: The lads would go out about 20 past, I'd have to wait as long as possible for it to last.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: So I'd go out about 25 past, but by the time I'd had it and a couple of minutes got my boot on, gone, done.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: But like people have the knees and and all that done.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: I don't know about the stain edge, it doesn't happen, does it now?
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 51:54SPEAKER_00: Nah, I don't see it.
- 51:54SPEAKER_00: Don't see it.
- 51:55SPEAKER_00: I was actually asking for one um just after boxing day, I sliced my back and my heel off in one of the games.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: Like boy come down the back of me and can I just open that up?
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's painful.
- 52:05SPEAKER_00: Would you do that?
- 52:06SPEAKER_00: I had to go straight to the hospital and get it um pinned.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: And then about we had a game about five, seven days later.
- 52:13SPEAKER_00: And um I was asking if I could get it done, but thankfully our pitch was horrendous and the game got caught off, so I ended up getting an extra week, so I didn't need it.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: But you don't see that many, to be honest.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: I've seen like boys getting their knees drained and stuff like that now during the week to try train and play, but that's usually kind of an older players, isn't it, that are struggling with something.
- 52:32SPEAKER_03: I've seen Nell Quinn's knee was always up like that, balloon Wednesday, Thursday.
- 52:36SPEAKER_03: And I think you get it on a Thursday morning, and by the Saturday it was down, but then Sunday it's just like up again.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: 10-20 years later, that's gotta be on that effect, hasn't it?
- 52:46SPEAKER_02: Limping and that.
- 52:47SPEAKER_03: Gotta be some court cases.
- 52:49SPEAKER_02: Got to be hasn't some money somewhere in that.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but uh I great question.
- 52:55SPEAKER_03: Uh Barry Williams, his daughter, good good football player, she does well.
- 52:59SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 52:59SPEAKER_03: Good.
- 52:59SPEAKER_03: But alright.
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: But um for me, what we're talking about before about the uh the Jotta thing, it just came to my mind there that um there was Gary Neville and that were talking about it.
- 53:10SPEAKER_03: And when um do you remember Jimmy Davis?
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: I think it was Jimmy Davis.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: Yes, for the Man United, was it a car?
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he was just in a youth team.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he wasn't really, but he but he trained with them every day and and had a car crash and um they said they just they kind of it was near the end of the season, so the heads were alright, he said, but that they didn't process it till coming back pre-season and his shirt wasn't up and he's kit, and it was just like a lot of them went yeah.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: That's the thing it could still be hitting some Liverpool players even as long as now, couldn't it?
- 53:43SPEAKER_02: Like everyone grieves in different ways, don't they?
- 53:45SPEAKER_02: So, and like you say, the ones who were closest to how have they dealt with it away from football?
- 53:51SPEAKER_02: It's it can have a massive effect.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: So, what's coming up in the next couple of weeks?
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: We're going to the Carlisle game.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: We are Sunday, yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: Sunday Sophia's coming with little girl, she can't wait.
- 54:01SPEAKER_02: She's asked us every day.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: Is the game today?
- 54:03SPEAKER_02: Dad said no, Sunday.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: She asked again, I said no Sunday.
- 54:06SPEAKER_03: So she's like, Have you checked that the Wi-Fi works on the iPad?
- 54:10SPEAKER_03: It's a biggie.
- 54:11SPEAKER_03: Uh see, this is what I think.
- 54:13SPEAKER_03: I have to run like I have to run it for you, don't I?
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: Well I've to look at you do look after us like so.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: That's up to you to find out.
- 54:20SPEAKER_03: Telling up to March?
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: No, not much, no, that's me.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: We had the last game Saturday there, so I'm off for the summer.
- 54:26SPEAKER_00: So um oh, how long off?
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: Um well I don't know.
- 54:30SPEAKER_00: Wait to see what offers on the table for.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Interested to see.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so straight back to Monday drop-offs at school.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Oh nothing exciting.
- 54:40SPEAKER_00: Uh one of the boys in the team putting a picture in group chat, straight eye beefer.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: What was he?
- 54:45SPEAKER_00: Aye straight eye beefer 24 or something.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: Good age.
- 54:50SPEAKER_03: This was the best fit, wasn't it?
- 54:52SPEAKER_03: When the season finished, I used to have penciled in a day out in York, day out in Edinburgh, your holiday, which you usually have, and then you usually were with the lads on you at the end of the season for three or four days.
- 55:05SPEAKER_02: It was, it was that little gathering, wasn't it?
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: Like you used if if you're if you are you had a year or two left.
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're horrible for the lads who were going in to see if we got a contract or not.
- 55:15SPEAKER_02: It's no nice.
- 55:16SPEAKER_02: It's not nice.
- 55:18SPEAKER_02: But yeah, yeah, I've uh I've enjoyed my time off plenty of times and all that.
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: We'll have to talk about it probably next week, but some players out of contract at Carlisle, which might be easy to for the manager or the club to go right, that's fair enough.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: But there's a couple who haven't played, have still got another year or two as well.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: Decisions to be made then, isn't it?
- 55:42SPEAKER_02: Um but like you say, that they've got to know what league they're in first, haven't they, to see what's what's happening.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a budget, it's potential manager who's going to be making decisions, I mean, behind the scenes.
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it all hangs on promotion, doesn't it, really?
- 55:58SPEAKER_00: To look forward.
- 55:59SPEAKER_02: It's a tough one for the young pros as well, I think, um, who've been loaned out and stuff, because it's tough when you've not got a sort of career behind you.
- 56:07SPEAKER_02: Um and if you're getting if they get a contract, brilliant, but if they don't, where do they go and what did they do next?
- 56:13SPEAKER_02: It's it's uh it's a hard time for them if they don't get that contract.
- 56:17SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 56:18SPEAKER_03: Another thank you.
- 56:19SPEAKER_03: Oh thank you to my mate David Lowe.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: Killer moth lad, but he's well bent and lad, but he's been listening in Canada constantly.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: So uh it gets him through his Tuesday mornings, he says, or Tuesday nights.
- 56:29SPEAKER_00: Brilliant comes out.
- 56:30SPEAKER_00: I had a guy in Audi this morning.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: Audi?
- 56:32SPEAKER_00: Audi.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: Did you?
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: He came up to me.
- 56:35SPEAKER_00: And he works there.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: I've had them lessons though.
- 56:39SPEAKER_00: He's I know what you have.
- 56:40SPEAKER_00: He's alright.
- 56:41SPEAKER_00: I know your meals.
- 56:43SPEAKER_03: No matter.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: I was getting nappy.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: I was just getting he goes nappies for the wee one.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: Dylan doesn't look after himself.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of fat in that uh basket.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: Fat-free yogurt.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: But he comes up to me and he goes, Oh, I lost it in the pod.
- 56:56SPEAKER_00: When's the next one?
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: I said, Oh, we're doing it tonight.
- 56:58SPEAKER_00: He's like, When it will be out, I went, It'll be out tomorrow.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: I'd but alright, I thought it'd be out tonight.
- 57:01SPEAKER_00: I was alright, yeah.
- 57:02SPEAKER_00: And he was like, I usually put it on when I'm going to sleep.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: I was like, I said, Oh, I hope it's not like the content is sending you to sleep.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: He's like, No, I just put it in my ear pods and I like just like chilling out and going to sleep and then I fall asleep.
- 57:15SPEAKER_03: Well, if he listens in the morning, if he falls asleep, we'll get another hit if he listens in the episode.
- 57:19SPEAKER_03: I want to listen to what he's missing.
- 57:20SPEAKER_03: There's a lad there was a lad come over to us at the uh game and sat in the fan zone and he just went, I don't uh he went, What do you say?
- 57:25SPEAKER_03: I don't want to buggy.
- 57:26SPEAKER_03: And I says, Oh no, you he went, uh if you've said I was strike for play, I would have been like right pissed off.
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: But he went, love the podcast.
- 57:32SPEAKER_03: When you can talk about but I will uh we'll get around that fan zone on Saturday, hopefully.
- 57:38SPEAKER_03: Sunday through the butt be good.
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: Street food, bank holidays bank holiday.
- 57:44SPEAKER_03: The town can either be rocking on Sunday, or we could do an emergency podcast.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: We could be outside Brunton Park.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: Outside Brunton Park.
- 57:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, jeez.
- 57:53SPEAKER_03: Right, again, thank you for our sponsor, Dan Brown Mortgages, based at Warwick Bridge, independent mortgage and protection advisors, based near Carl Elf, known for personal service and straight talk and advice.
- 58:05SPEAKER_03: Again, we'll mention his sons Jackson21 and Evan 16, who are massive football fans and calling it supporters and have been in Volvo football since they were little.
- 58:16SPEAKER_03: And uh thank you so much.
- 58:17SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much for that.
- 58:18SPEAKER_03: He lives near the Stag Inn, well he's Stag ins, he's um local.
