- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each other.
- 0:10Speaker 3: On the air, there's prop Control.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Kine studio.
- 0:18Speaker 4: It's off the bench, all right, welcome back here, oh
- 0:45Speaker 4: t Burt number three on a Tuesday morning. Jake is
- 0:49Speaker 4: a gone on a very important business running a nice
- 0:52Speaker 4: little important errand so he's not here. But guess who
- 0:56Speaker 4: is here? The man, the myth, the legend, mister Nick
- 1:00Speaker 4: Underhill joining the show like he does every single up Monday.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Nick, what's good man?
- 1:06Speaker 6: Are you guys still paying hoster?
- 1:08Speaker 5: Dude?
- 1:08Speaker 4: He was actually here for two well almost two hours today,
- 1:12Speaker 4: but yeah, he surprisingly has I think he got a
- 1:14Speaker 4: check for August for sure.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I haven't seen him in like five appearances man, Like
- 1:20Speaker 2: I always actually like, is.
- 1:22Speaker 5: This a you problem? You think you think he's upset
- 1:24Speaker 5: with you?
- 1:25Speaker 2: It could be like I'm starting to take it personal,
- 1:27Speaker 2: like and now I have to consider it now that
- 1:29Speaker 2: you told me that he was here and he left.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I don't know, something's going on. Maybe we need to
- 1:33Speaker 2: clear the air.
- 1:34Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I know we got to clear somebody. I don't know,
- 1:37Speaker 4: we need to have a little little sit down with us.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Then we just go get a little coffee. All three
- 1:41Speaker 5: of us sit there and have it. I don't know.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Maybe he's just frustrated. You know.
- 1:45Speaker 4: For a long time, you know, it was said that
- 1:48Speaker 4: the Saints just didn't have enough LSU players on their roster. Well,
- 1:52Speaker 4: now Els you decided we're just gonna take matters in
- 1:55Speaker 4: our own hand. We're just gonna put a shout on
- 1:56Speaker 4: our roster. How we feeling right now with all this
- 2:01Speaker 4: NFL college football going back and forth? Any Just like
- 2:06Speaker 4: initial thoughts when you see it happening, I.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Feel like you guys should go back just for the content,
- 2:11Speaker 2: like just getting the injunction. You can go out there
- 2:13Speaker 2: and play like we could do like an Inside the
- 2:15Speaker 2: Year series. Maybe maybe get like a little Hulu show
- 2:18Speaker 2: going or something. Turn it into like a buddy comedy
- 2:21Speaker 2: like it could be pretty good. Yeah, I'd watch it.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'd watch it for sure. I think it's kind of crazy.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I mean, at some point I do wonder like you
- 2:34Speaker 2: can't have this system where players can leave the NFL
- 2:37Speaker 2: and go back to college and make more money. I
- 2:38Speaker 2: think that's a huge problem for the NFL. Like I
- 2:41Speaker 2: wonder I wonder if the NFL at some point tries
- 2:44Speaker 2: to swoop in with us, because it feels like it's
- 2:46Speaker 2: out of control and there's too much money in the
- 2:49Speaker 2: college football ranks. The college football teams are doing too much.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I think like at some point, this whole thing is
- 2:54Speaker 2: going to explode. And I wonder if the NFL tries
- 2:57Speaker 2: to swoop in and create like a whole new amateur
- 2:59Speaker 2: league because there's another set of billions of dollars there
- 3:03Speaker 2: to grab, and we know how much the NFL likes money.
- 3:05Speaker 2: But this thing's going wild, man, I think that. Look,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't blame LSU, I don't blame any team for
- 3:11Speaker 2: taking advantage of the rules, like as long as they exist,
- 3:14Speaker 2: like exploit them. But at some point, I think it's
- 3:18Speaker 2: probably pretty clear to everyone that this is leading to
- 3:20Speaker 2: like some type of implosion of the current system. And
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm just trying to, you know, figure out what the
- 3:26Speaker 2: fallout is. But the league can't have this, man, Like
- 3:28Speaker 2: you can't enter the draft, be on a team, go
- 3:30Speaker 2: through camp, see that you aren't going to make a
- 3:32Speaker 2: practice squad it ask to get cut, and then you know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: go to college and make way more money. Like it
- 3:37Speaker 2: just doesn't it doesn't work. Like they're gonna have to
- 3:40Speaker 2: find a way to prevent that because it's gonna start
- 3:42Speaker 2: messing up everything.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Mess with the bulls, get the horse, I deal, NFL
- 3:46Speaker 5: just start playing on Saturday.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I mean, I just think they should probably take it
- 3:50Speaker 2: over at this point, and I would hate to see it.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Like I love college football, man, Like I love the system,
- 3:55Speaker 2: I love the pageantry, I love the history.
- 3:57Speaker 6: I love to set up.
- 4:01Speaker 5: You know.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I just I just don't think this can keep
- 4:04Speaker 2: going like this. I think it's it's a massive problem.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Anytime you don't like something, you can get in an injunction.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Like I'm half joking, but like if if you were
- 4:12Speaker 2: to go and you know, find a home court and
- 4:15Speaker 2: they wanted you to play football for LSU, that like
- 4:18Speaker 2: you'd be out there, like you could probably really find
- 4:20Speaker 2: a way to get someone to step in and get
- 4:22Speaker 2: an injunction, and like it sounds funny, but like that's
- 4:25Speaker 2: the actual current reality right now, which is it's crazy.
- 4:30Speaker 6: You know.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's like I have no problem watching Diego Pavia on
- 4:33Speaker 2: Saturdays for the next twelve years. If it feels like
- 4:37Speaker 2: that's how it's supposed to work. Like if there's the
- 4:39Speaker 2: actual minor league and you want the thirty eight year
- 4:42Speaker 2: old triple A quarterback playing for your team, that's cool
- 4:46Speaker 2: with me. But it's just, uh, I don't know, it's
- 4:49Speaker 2: just kind of tough to get my head around right now.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I mean, like, I'm interested to watch it. I love that,
- 4:53Speaker 2: Like laying Is is kind of like the ultimate bad guy.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I love a bad guy. But I just think logic,
- 5:00Speaker 2: it's very clear at some point something has to give here,
- 5:04Speaker 2: you know, I think it's just being pushway too.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Far wild times for sure. All right, let's get to
- 5:09Speaker 4: Little New Orleans Saints football. Okay, so how we feeling
- 5:13Speaker 4: get blown out by the Rams?
- 5:15Speaker 5: Twos versus twos didn't look great?
- 5:18Speaker 4: Any initial takeaways just from the game from an overall standpoint.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I know, we'll kind of dive into the position groups
- 5:24Speaker 4: and battles and things like that, but just from an
- 5:26Speaker 4: overall standpoint, like what do we take away from getting
- 5:30Speaker 4: blown out in a preseason game?
- 5:31Speaker 5: Like is there a moral.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Victory to take away from this? Do we kind of
- 5:34Speaker 4: shrug it off? It's like it's the backups playing whatever
- 5:37Speaker 4: is there? Like, what do you take away from a
- 5:39Speaker 4: big picture, Well.
- 5:41Speaker 2: One, I think we kind of knew their depth was
- 5:43Speaker 2: bad at a lot of spots, and I think you
- 5:45Speaker 2: kind of see that right now. You know, that was
- 5:47Speaker 2: always and that's always going to be the thing all
- 5:49Speaker 2: throughout the season. If they can stay healthy, I think
- 5:51Speaker 2: they can maybe exceed expectations.
- 5:54Speaker 6: If they're hurt.
- 5:54Speaker 2: There's a few spots far I think they have significant problems.
- 5:57Speaker 2: And I mean it's here two of a rebuild. I
- 6:00Speaker 2: would say they probably I had a schedule on it,
- 6:01Speaker 2: but I think that that that's an area where you know,
- 6:05Speaker 2: they got to find some answers. Maybe you work the
- 6:08Speaker 2: the you know, the the waiver wire on cutdown today
- 6:10Speaker 2: and maybe try to shore up a couple of spots.
- 6:13Speaker 2: But there's definitely some areas where I think they could
- 6:15Speaker 2: use a little bit help, you know, macro sense. The
- 6:17Speaker 2: only thing that I really apply over all to the
- 6:19Speaker 2: team is that, and this is going back to last
- 6:21Speaker 2: year and then the trend we saw throughout training camp.
- 6:24Speaker 2: There's just too many like procedural mistakes with the team.
- 6:28Speaker 6: And I do think that is something that and.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Look, you'd speak on this way better than me, but
- 6:32Speaker 2: like I think that They've been locks of days quo
- 6:35Speaker 2: about that at times with some of this stuff. We
- 6:37Speaker 2: saw it in camp during the two minute on two
- 6:40Speaker 2: different occasions where they couldn't.
- 6:41Speaker 6: Get lined up on third down.
- 6:43Speaker 2: They have a fourth down play on this fourth and
- 6:46Speaker 2: one they call a timeout, they come out, they can't
- 6:48Speaker 2: get lined up right, illegal formation like stuff like that's
- 6:51Speaker 2: got to be a little bit tighter, like, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think at some point, and it's not within his
- 6:56Speaker 2: personality to be a yeller, screamer or whatever, but it's
- 6:59Speaker 2: some like Collen's got to get a handle on that
- 7:02Speaker 2: and make sure that it doesn't carry on into the season,
- 7:05Speaker 2: you know, to his credit, I thought it was a
- 7:06Speaker 2: huge issue for like five or six weeks last year
- 7:09Speaker 2: and then they did get it under control.
- 7:11Speaker 6: But it's popped up a couple times now.
- 7:12Speaker 2: We've seen it in camp, Like that's something that that
- 7:15Speaker 2: I just think you can't have. You know, they had
- 7:17Speaker 2: a couple of twelve men's on defense. One was going
- 7:19Speaker 2: from they were a nickel, they were going to base.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I think it's just a guy not knowing what packages
- 7:24Speaker 2: he's part of on some of that stuff. But like
- 7:26Speaker 2: these are things that that you know, definitely those are
- 7:29Speaker 2: the things that irk me, Like, yeah, obviously you don't
- 7:32Speaker 2: like see them get beat. And there's some disturbing things
- 7:35Speaker 2: about that two joint practices in one week. Team's probably
- 7:38Speaker 2: out of gas. The kicker not being able to hit
- 7:40Speaker 2: from thirty nine is a travesty.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Hopefully Carlson can do that.
- 7:46Speaker 2: But I mean, you know, macro sense, I don't know
- 7:48Speaker 2: that I'm looking at thirty four nothing and being like
- 7:52Speaker 2: half my mentions on Twitter like you got to fire
- 7:55Speaker 2: the coach, and like it's a preseason game, but what
- 7:57Speaker 2: are we talking about here? Like, I don't think you
- 7:58Speaker 2: go to that extreme. It's not like half these guys
- 8:00Speaker 2: aren't going to be on the team in seven days.
- 8:02Speaker 2: So I don't know how much you take from the
- 8:04Speaker 2: overall performance.
- 8:05Speaker 4: But but like you said, there are underlying issues that
- 8:09Speaker 4: seem to pop up and and things that carried over
- 8:12Speaker 4: from you know, the regular season last year, red zone issues,
- 8:15Speaker 4: penalties like in the injury thing. I know it's not
- 8:17Speaker 4: a coaching thing, but like those three things kind of
- 8:20Speaker 4: are popping up pretty consistently no matter who's out there.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt, Like the lining up stuff is like
- 8:27Speaker 2: I always feel like I go I go like to
- 8:30Speaker 2: extreme with this because like you know, I covered Belichick
- 8:32Speaker 2: and then I covered Chomp Payton, and it was like
- 8:34Speaker 2: if you had something, you know, you lined up wrong,
- 8:37Speaker 2: Like the whole team's running, people are screaming, people are
- 8:40Speaker 2: getting cut like basically on the spot, and it's just
- 8:43Speaker 2: a way, a way different world now and like the
- 8:45Speaker 2: whole world's kind of you know, changing in that sense.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But it kind of bothers me, like seeing it almost
- 8:50Speaker 2: feels like, you know, they do the two minute and
- 8:55Speaker 2: like they don't even pull the guy out when when
- 8:57Speaker 2: he lines up wrong, like there has to be some
- 8:58Speaker 2: level of punishment like something that that just you know,
- 9:02Speaker 2: this isn't tolerant. And if it keeps popping up like
- 9:03Speaker 2: you got to see some type of reaction to it,
- 9:06Speaker 2: it bothers me watching.
- 9:07Speaker 6: It not seeing that stuff.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And then you see it in the games and it's like,
- 9:09Speaker 2: well like, yeah, this is what we're watching the whole
- 9:11Speaker 2: entire time. I don't know where that that, like, on
- 9:14Speaker 2: that specific example, like where the accountability comes from, like
- 9:17Speaker 2: that has that has to change. The injury thing is
- 9:20Speaker 2: crazy right now, though you know they did a really
- 9:22Speaker 2: good job of getting soft tissue injuries down. I honestly
- 9:26Speaker 2: think those trends are just kind of small sample things.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I think you get lucky, and you know, their whole
- 9:30Speaker 2: thing is like they're going to practice two days, take
- 9:32Speaker 2: the third day off to avoid injuries. Well, now you're
- 9:35Speaker 2: not getting as much working and you have the injuries.
- 9:37Speaker 2: So like, what is the actual upside there?
- 9:40Speaker 6: I don't know. If that, you know, I'd be I'm
- 9:42Speaker 6: gonna be interested.
- 9:43Speaker 2: To see the long time, the long term trends behind
- 9:45Speaker 2: like this approach, because my suspicion is that like, well,
- 9:49Speaker 2: if you practice less, like yeah, you're probably going to
- 9:51Speaker 2: lower the odds, but are you actually staying ahead of
- 9:55Speaker 2: the injury curve. Maybe it's just bad luck right now.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Maybe last year is the true thing. Maybe it's somewhere
- 9:59Speaker 2: in the middle, but like it's stand there in epidemic
- 10:02Speaker 2: right now, Like your receiver room is cut down, your
- 10:06Speaker 2: running back room went from being extremely deep to meetings
- 10:09Speaker 2: of mere white. Like it's just not it's not in
- 10:11Speaker 2: a good place right now with these injuries at all.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's seems like it's just got the unlucky whatever
- 10:17Speaker 4: it is. If you're unlucky, you got the injury bug,
- 10:19Speaker 4: whatever it is. It just seems very unfortunate right now.
- 10:21Speaker 4: But look, look, we we got a lot of kickers
- 10:24Speaker 4: right now, and you mentioned Carlson getting signed the other day.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I know there has been a lot of issues. Nobody
- 10:29Speaker 4: wants to really win that job. Now you've got a
- 10:31Speaker 4: three way battle, Like how do you even like conduct
- 10:33Speaker 4: that in practice.
- 10:36Speaker 6: For a week two?
- 10:37Speaker 2: I can't believe they didn't just cut one of them,
- 10:38Speaker 2: like right, I mean, this is like one of the
- 10:41Speaker 2: things that it's just like the differences between the old
- 10:43Speaker 2: regime and the new regime, Like you know, someone would
- 10:45Speaker 2: have got left like behind, like Tanner Brown probably when
- 10:48Speaker 2: they came home, like with the team from California in
- 10:51Speaker 2: previous regimes, and you know, now they're going to keep
- 10:54Speaker 2: them all there, like that's fine. But yeah, I think
- 10:57Speaker 2: I think it's got to be Carlson's I would go Carlson. Whoever,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I don't I don't know if Charlie Smith even I
- 11:02Speaker 2: don't think he counts against your roster again because he's
- 11:04Speaker 2: on that international Pathway program. But I probably go head
- 11:08Speaker 2: up for the rest of the week, pick my best one,
- 11:10Speaker 2: get rid of the other one, go Carlson that guy,
- 11:12Speaker 2: and then whoever wins that compare him whoever gets cut
- 11:14Speaker 2: you know by other teams. You know, Carlson is at
- 11:18Speaker 2: least automatic inside the forty from distance, Like he's had
- 11:21Speaker 2: issues the last two years, like he wasn't all pro kicker,
- 11:24Speaker 2: real real you know, credentials, but he's been on a
- 11:28Speaker 2: downward trend for for three years from distance. You know,
- 11:31Speaker 2: at this point, like this thing's got to be happy
- 11:33Speaker 2: being automatic inside forty, Like start there and then try
- 11:37Speaker 2: to push it back. So I think that would at
- 11:40Speaker 2: least give them, you know, a solid floor with this
- 11:43Speaker 2: is and take disaster out of the mix. But like,
- 11:47Speaker 2: man like it's a league now where you get a
- 11:49Speaker 2: touchback and you get thirteen yards in your in field
- 11:51Speaker 2: goal position, So like you're leaving a lot there, you know,
- 11:55Speaker 2: I do think you invest.
- 11:56Speaker 6: In the the the being.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Good from you know, forty and I'd say probably fifty
- 12:01Speaker 2: and is probably where you want to be now. But
- 12:03Speaker 2: I mean you're definitely leaving meat on the bone and
- 12:05Speaker 2: changing you know, your your approach it and it and
- 12:07Speaker 2: it makes things harder, you know, relatives the rest of
- 12:10Speaker 2: the league. Like if you don't have that big league kicker,
- 12:14Speaker 2: it's just it's just crazy. You know, it's been multiple
- 12:16Speaker 2: years now at that spot. I thought I would have
- 12:19Speaker 2: bet everything on Tanner Brown being, you know, the guy,
- 12:22Speaker 2: like the real deal, like real college credentials coming in.
- 12:25Speaker 2: You know that that hasn't been it. So I would
- 12:28Speaker 2: say Carlson is a strong front runner right now. But
- 12:30Speaker 2: you know, honestly, week one, I think he's going to
- 12:33Speaker 2: be compared against everybody that gets cut. And I think
- 12:35Speaker 2: they've got to be extremely aggressive about this. They can't
- 12:38Speaker 2: be bad on special teams two years in a row
- 12:41Speaker 2: just because you haven't made the investment.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yeah, they can't afford with the depth on offensive defense,
- 12:45Speaker 4: they can't afford not to be bad on special teams.
- 12:47Speaker 5: They have to use that.
- 12:48Speaker 4: That has to be a position that they can get
- 12:50Speaker 4: three points from, Like you said, half, half field or midfield. Yeah,
- 12:54Speaker 4: it's gotta be Well, what the heck's going on with
- 12:56Speaker 4: the running back and everyone? Now we're going to have
- 12:57Speaker 4: like anyone healthy enough to play running back.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I mean like you're hoping for Kendra Miller at this point.
- 13:04Speaker 2: So that's not where you want to be before the
- 13:05Speaker 2: start of the season. So it's a chan him and
- 13:10Speaker 2: then the field. Ty Chandler, I you know, I think
- 13:14Speaker 2: he possibly towards a cl so like that that's going
- 13:17Speaker 2: to be season ending for him.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Everybody else has hurt.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Devin Neil's got a hamstring that's going to go into
- 13:24Speaker 2: the season. Rodrick Estimate came back, so at least they
- 13:26Speaker 2: got you know, they got the three guys there, but
- 13:28Speaker 2: it got really thin, really fast in you know, position
- 13:33Speaker 2: of strength is suddenly like they're kind of grasping his
- 13:36Speaker 2: straws a little bit. You know, if Estimate is upright
- 13:38Speaker 2: and you have Han, I think you're okay there. You know,
- 13:41Speaker 2: Kendre Man, he like you've seen it in the game,
- 13:43Speaker 2: like immediately shows you how talented he is, and you
- 13:46Speaker 2: start wondering about the possibilities of him for a season,
- 13:49Speaker 2: and then you realize what you're you're kind.
- 13:51Speaker 6: Of hoping for there.
- 13:53Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, I think it's it's probably those
- 13:55Speaker 2: three guys, and then you know, whoever's left stand And
- 13:57Speaker 2: I thought it was gonna maybe before making the team,
- 13:59Speaker 2: like out looks like it's probably going to be, you know,
- 14:01Speaker 2: a three man room. And then whoever comes back, you
- 14:04Speaker 2: kind of ad him Alvin is probably going to be
- 14:07Speaker 2: out for you know, a week or two into the season.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I know he's got like his training staff there, and
- 14:13Speaker 2: you know, I've been there through that process kind of
- 14:15Speaker 2: seeing what he does after games.
- 14:17Speaker 6: We spent a week with him a couple of years ago.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Like he's on that table like twelve hours a day
- 14:21Speaker 2: even when he's healthy. So I'm not gonna bet against
- 14:23Speaker 2: like his timeline. But I think logically, like you're probably
- 14:27Speaker 2: looking at like week two, week three, unless they're ahead
- 14:29Speaker 2: of it. So you know, I think it's the three
- 14:31Speaker 2: guys to start the season. Alvin comes back, and you know,
- 14:34Speaker 2: you kind of see where you're at at that point.
- 14:36Speaker 2: But it's crazy. It's just like that room's been attacked
- 14:39Speaker 2: by that injury bug.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, look not to like go back in
- 14:43Speaker 4: the past again in this conversation, but okay, the loose
- 14:49Speaker 4: of the rams pretty badly in the actual game, a
- 14:52Speaker 4: lot of backups, that's the silver line there. But we
- 14:54Speaker 4: hadn't really talked to you since you viewed practice with
- 14:57Speaker 4: the Rams when you had the goods versus good kind
- 15:00Speaker 4: of give us a rundown of how practice went because
- 15:03Speaker 4: we know that we think that's those inner squad practices
- 15:07Speaker 4: those are a lot like more important than the actual
- 15:09Speaker 4: game itself, especially when it comes to the starters.
- 15:11Speaker 5: How did practice go?
- 15:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I agree with that totally.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Like I think they're way more predictive of the future then,
- 15:17Speaker 2: especially now in today's era. Like you know, you guys
- 15:20Speaker 2: aren't playing it in the games, like Tom Brady said
- 15:23Speaker 2: in an interview the other day, Like he was just
- 15:25Speaker 2: talking about how the league's changed, and he said there
- 15:27Speaker 2: was a preseason game where he threw a touchdown past
- 15:29Speaker 2: the Randy Moss in the third quarter, Like that would
- 15:31Speaker 2: not that.
- 15:32Speaker 6: Would not happen now.
- 15:34Speaker 2: So like it's a completely different world, Like I don't
- 15:36Speaker 2: even know if we'll see the starters or Rams don't
- 15:38Speaker 2: play theirs at all. I would say the Rams won
- 15:41Speaker 2: on both sides, Like for sure, they definitely won. They
- 15:43Speaker 2: look like the better team, but.
- 15:45Speaker 6: It wasn't like a blowout.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Like I thought the Saints held their own, They had
- 15:48Speaker 2: their moments, they look good. I thought Shock in the
- 15:51Speaker 2: offense had some good stuff. I thought it was a
- 15:53Speaker 2: huge day for a huge confidence building day for Bryce Lance.
- 15:57Speaker 2: You know, Chris Olave's not out there, Jordan Tyson's not
- 15:59Speaker 2: out there. He's basically operating his like wide receiver one
- 16:02Speaker 2: two when he's making plays against real players, you know,
- 16:06Speaker 2: cornerbacks with real credentials. So I thought that was good
- 16:09Speaker 2: for them. Defensively, Devonte Adams and Stafford definitely cooked him,
- 16:15Speaker 2: you know, every every time they tried to connect. I
- 16:17Speaker 2: thought the Rams ran the ball on him pretty good.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Carl Granderson had a great day, like he's he's looked
- 16:24Speaker 2: good throughout this gamp like pressure wise, he's been around,
- 16:26Speaker 2: he's been active. You know, I think we kind of
- 16:29Speaker 2: know what he is, but he's he's practiced well cornerbacks.
- 16:35Speaker 2: You know that that remains a concern for me. And
- 16:36Speaker 2: then I think that popped up again in the game
- 16:40Speaker 2: without Quincy Riley. Like, for for a second there, coming
- 16:42Speaker 2: out of the Jags game, you're kind of feeling like
- 16:45Speaker 2: they'll be all right, and then you get another exposure
- 16:47Speaker 2: and it's like, oh, you know, I don't, I don't know,
- 16:50Speaker 2: you know, Emerson kind of gave up a couple of things.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I thought he had a couple of positive plays, But
- 16:54Speaker 2: I think it's leakier there than than you'd like. Yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 2: I definitely think the Rams played better, But I would
- 17:00Speaker 2: say the collective of the three practices, I would say
- 17:03Speaker 2: arrow up on the Saints and probably exceed expectations across
- 17:07Speaker 2: the three, like they they smoked the Jags, I would say,
- 17:11Speaker 2: upper hand on the Cowboys, and then you know, a
- 17:13Speaker 2: lost to the Rams. But two and one out of
- 17:15Speaker 2: those those teams, you know, three teams are expecting to
- 17:18Speaker 2: be in the playoffs, I would say it's a pretty
- 17:20Speaker 2: pretty good day for them overall.
- 17:21Speaker 6: Now, to be fair, the Rams.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Didn't play Pukunukua, who could be the the offensive player
- 17:27Speaker 2: of the year, and they didn't play Miles Garrett, who
- 17:29Speaker 2: could probably be the defensive player of the year. So
- 17:31Speaker 2: like two major talents not on the field out there,
- 17:34Speaker 2: two guys that that that are gonna you know, swing
- 17:35Speaker 2: a result a little bit, so you know, but the
- 17:38Speaker 2: same singav lave out there either, so their best player
- 17:41Speaker 2: wasn't there.
- 17:41Speaker 6: But yeah, I mean, I don't.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Know if it was a full indication of of what
- 17:45Speaker 2: it is, but I would say they they played better
- 17:48Speaker 2: overall than I thought they wouldn't those practices the Jags
- 17:51Speaker 2: won especially, you know, they smoked them in that.
- 17:54Speaker 6: But you know, if you're trying to predict off.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Those what's what's the line seven and a half, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 2: I might take a flight over on the seven and
- 18:02Speaker 2: a half after seeing the three.
- 18:06Speaker 4: We're a week away from final rosters and everything. There's
- 18:09Speaker 4: one preseason game left, a couple of practices left in
- 18:11Speaker 4: actual training camp. What does Nick Gunnerhill need to see?
- 18:15Speaker 2: Just nobody else get hurt and maybe a guy or
- 18:17Speaker 2: two come back, Like it's really it, you know.
- 18:19Speaker 5: It's in the last preseason game.
- 18:22Speaker 2: They should it's it's It's absolutely insane. They had this
- 18:26Speaker 2: like Battle Royale with the Cowboys a week ago, and
- 18:29Speaker 2: now they get to go back out there and play
- 18:31Speaker 2: them again. Like, I can't believe they have to play
- 18:32Speaker 2: a preseason game now after a practice that costs the
- 18:35Speaker 2: two teams a collective million dollars.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Uh in all those fights.
- 18:39Speaker 2: But yeah, look, I don't know if there's anything really
- 18:42Speaker 2: left to prove, Like I just I need to see
- 18:43Speaker 2: a couple of field goals made and I just want
- 18:46Speaker 2: to see nobody else get hurt at this point, Like,
- 18:48Speaker 2: I don't think we're gonna learn anything else. I don't
- 18:50Speaker 2: think there's you know, a big reveal if they play
- 18:53Speaker 2: the starters. I don't think they should play them long.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I think it would be crazy to go more than
- 18:56Speaker 2: a series just giving out things are going and how
- 18:58Speaker 2: much work they've gotten.
- 18:59Speaker 6: So yeah, I don't know.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know that I'm I'm really
- 19:04Speaker 2: looking for for a major thing. Look Easton Guilty, I
- 19:08Speaker 2: think is the main guy I'm looking at because he
- 19:09Speaker 2: looks like a real player right now, interior offensive lineman.
- 19:13Speaker 2: If he had one more good game, I'm putting them
- 19:15Speaker 2: on my roster. So I'm looking for him. Outside of that, Yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 2: I don't I don't know that there's a lot of
- 19:19Speaker 2: like unturned stones at this point.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Hey certainly seems like it is in the bar. Nick.
- 19:24Speaker 5: What he bench pressing? What you bench pressed?
- 19:28Speaker 2: Max, I'm not I'm not pressing nothing but buttons and keyboards.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Come on, that's such a non answer. I wanted. I
- 19:36Speaker 5: want you to tell me eighty five.
- 19:39Speaker 6: Maybe eighty five?
- 19:40Speaker 5: Come on, man, why brag on yourself?
- 19:44Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Well, if you if you watch this like podcast I
- 19:47Speaker 2: did with Toronto Ars that we did two of them.
- 19:48Speaker 6: The first one the camera was.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Set up on his side and I looked like a
- 19:51Speaker 2: hobbit and you.
- 19:52Speaker 6: Look like a giant.
- 19:53Speaker 2: So based on that one, twenty four pounds I got
- 19:57Speaker 2: four was the worst. Boy, it was the the worst
- 20:00Speaker 2: moment of my life in this video.
- 20:02Speaker 6: Man like so so, I don't know if this is
- 20:04Speaker 6: a joke on that.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I don't know where we're going with this, but I
- 20:06Speaker 2: got cooked on the internet for like a day. We
- 20:08Speaker 2: fix the angle. I look like a normal six foot
- 20:10Speaker 2: tall human being.
- 20:11Speaker 5: But good, all right, there you go.
- 20:13Speaker 6: It's a rough look, Nick.
- 20:14Speaker 4: He bench press smacks of twenty four pounds, right, ye.
- 20:18Speaker 4: We appreciate your time today, enjoy this last week of
- 20:22Speaker 4: preseason and we get ready for game one and two weeks.
- 20:25Speaker 5: So appreciate you. Yeah, take it easy areas.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Nick under Hill, always bringing the good stuff, knows everything
- 20:32Speaker 4: about the Saints.
- 20:32Speaker 5: So man, it does feel like the haze in the barn.
- 20:35Speaker 4: I can't believe there's another preseason game. Please nobody get
- 20:38Speaker 4: hurt before we get a break. One to tell about
- 20:40Speaker 4: a friends of every Catterists. When you think about Louisiana, you
- 20:42Speaker 4: think about energy, and one company help and shape the
- 20:44Speaker 4: future is Catteris. Catterists is developing the Commonwealth Lergxport facility
- 20:48Speaker 4: right over there in Cameron Parish, connecting American natural gas
- 20:51Speaker 4: with customers around the world. Now under construction after reaching
- 20:54Speaker 4: its final investment decision in twenty twenty six. The project
- 20:57Speaker 4: represents a major investment in Louisiana's few, but it's about
- 21:01Speaker 4: more than just exporting energy. It's about creating jobs, supporting
- 21:05Speaker 4: local businesses, strengthening communities, and reinforcing Louisiana's position as one
- 21:08Speaker 4: of the world's leading energy hubs through.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Its actual gas production.
- 21:12Speaker 4: In the Commonwealth Energy Project, Catterists help them build an
- 21:14Speaker 4: integrated energy platform, connecting domestic resources with the growing global demands.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Construction continues on Louisiana's Gulf Coast. Catterists is proud to
- 21:23Speaker 4: invest in American energy, American workers, and a stronger economic future.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Catterists connecting Louisiana energy to the world. All right, got
- 21:30Speaker 4: a few more segments here without Jacob Hester. So we're
- 21:34Speaker 4: going to come back and talk a little bit in football,
- 21:39Speaker 4: and we're not going to wrap the show up a
- 21:40Speaker 4: landra we got.
- 21:42Speaker 5: We got week zero college football. We're gona talk about
- 21:45Speaker 5: when we come back right here, off.
- 21:46Speaker 6: The match, off the bench.
- 21:48Speaker 4: All right, If you've been waiting for the right time
- 21:51Speaker 4: to shop and save on some hunting gear, fishing gear,
- 21:54Speaker 4: whatever it is, if you've been waiting for that right
- 21:56Speaker 4: time to pick out, maybe a new boat, maybe something
- 21:58Speaker 4: you've had your eye on for a while.
- 22:00Speaker 5: This weekend is the weekend to do it.
- 22:02Speaker 4: At Booe Outfitters, the Second Amendment tax Free Weekend is

- 22:38Speaker 4: If you need to get that dear camp ready, duck camp,

- 22:52Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 22:56Speaker 1: by Community Steel a little bit, I just want to.
- 23:12Speaker 5: All right, looking back here off the bench.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Tuesday Show brought to you back community steel these beautiful
- 23:20Speaker 4: gold panels behind us Tuesdays and five too.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Do you think the energy level has matched our other
- 23:28Speaker 5: Tuesdays today?
- 23:30Speaker 7: Yeah, every Tuesdays we've had good.
- 23:33Speaker 4: I know, it's just, you know, it felt like, you know,
- 23:36Speaker 4: the way things are happening. We're not necessarily being negative,
- 23:40Speaker 4: but there's like a little bit of a not as
- 23:42Speaker 4: like happy of a show.
- 23:43Speaker 5: I guess.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I feel like even Jake have been pretty negative. But
- 23:48Speaker 3: I think that I've been and Taylor eventually came to
- 23:51Speaker 3: the side where it's like, Okay, sure, maybe we don't
- 23:55Speaker 3: like it, but do what you gotta do to win.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Can't beat them, join them, can't beat them, join them,
- 24:00Speaker 4: or there's nobody else doing it?
- 24:01Speaker 7: True, take the lead, make them join you.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Yeah, it will.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Be super interesting to figure out if the SEC responds
- 24:09Speaker 4: to the statements.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Made by the SEC has a meeting in Birmingham today
- 24:14Speaker 3: and they're expected to talk about this and try to
- 24:17Speaker 3: come up with something similar to what the Big Ten
- 24:19Speaker 3: and the ACC are doing.
- 24:21Speaker 5: And if you missed it.
- 24:23Speaker 4: At the end of our number two here and as
- 24:26Speaker 4: we saw that the breaking news in the Big Ten,
- 24:28Speaker 4: the Big tim announcing that they are not going to
- 24:31Speaker 4: allow NFL people that were on an NFL roster to
- 24:33Speaker 4: play in the Big Ten this year. So whether that
- 24:36Speaker 4: means if you were part of the draft and you
- 24:39Speaker 4: did not withdraw before the draft started, you were considered
- 24:43Speaker 4: an NFL player, So they are not going to You.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Got to operatively define stuff.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Do you have to define it? You set yourself up
- 24:51Speaker 5: for a lawsuit?
- 24:52Speaker 8: I do like the way the Big Twelve were, I
- 24:53Speaker 8: mean Big Ten worded it. They were like if you
- 24:56Speaker 8: entered the draft, if you signed a contract with any
- 24:58Speaker 8: professional league, if you were on a roster, like they Again,
- 25:01Speaker 8: somebody's going to find a way around it, probably because
- 25:04Speaker 8: that's what we do. If you find a judge that's
- 25:06Speaker 8: a fan of this team that wants that team to
- 25:08Speaker 8: do well, and well, they'll just blindly accept anything. But
- 25:12Speaker 8: they kind of their older bases covered at least in
- 25:14Speaker 8: that statement.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, they did, and they cover their basis.
- 25:18Speaker 5: So we'll see.
- 25:18Speaker 4: We'll see how the if the SEC responds to that.
- 25:22Speaker 4: But Elandra just said they are have a meeting today
- 25:26Speaker 4: in Birmingham, so we will see. It's certainly fascinating times
- 25:30Speaker 4: and again sports just continues to be the great reality
- 25:34Speaker 4: television show that we all love and you love it
- 25:37Speaker 4: sometimes because you care about it. You love it because
- 25:39Speaker 4: sometimes you hate it. Sometimes you love it, but it
- 25:42Speaker 4: always keeps you on the edge of your seat.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I guess my question is I feel like that's already
- 25:46Speaker 3: a rule. Like I just I feel like what the
- 25:53Speaker 3: Big ten is doing is already a rule, and everybody.
- 25:58Speaker 5: Different.
- 25:59Speaker 3: That's why they're suing. I'm pretty sure. So I just
- 26:02Speaker 3: don't like, what more can you actually do?
- 26:07Speaker 5: It might not be a real because they just never
- 26:08Speaker 5: thought that it had to be stated.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I just.
- 26:14Speaker 5: College, how would you do that?
- 26:16Speaker 7: The goal is to get there?
- 26:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna ask your friend, Yeah that's the friend, Well
- 26:22Speaker 3: you do that.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Let me tell you about a friends over buy you automotive.

- 26:36Speaker 4: They got a great dealership over there in the place.

- 26:43Speaker 4: the whole process extremely easy. So whether you want to

- 27:09Speaker 4: the dealership for the trade in. And if you buy
- 27:12Speaker 4: a car from them, they will come pick your car
- 27:15Speaker 4: up if it ever needs maintenance in the future.
- 27:16Speaker 5: So easy to deal with. Great people over there.
- 27:19Speaker 4: All the cars, all the bells and whistles, Go check out,
- 27:21Speaker 4: buy you Automotive dot com.
- 27:24Speaker 3: So there is a rule under twelve point two point
- 27:31Speaker 3: three point twenty five. This is the exception to the rule.
- 27:34Speaker 3: For football. A player may enter the NFL draft one
- 27:38Speaker 3: time after enrolling in college without losing NCAA eligibility, provided
- 27:44Speaker 3: that he is not drafted, and he declares in riding
- 27:48Speaker 3: his intention to resume college football within seventy two hours
- 27:51Speaker 3: of the draft declaration date to the school's athletic director.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I'm assuming that Dick Kwon Wright didn't do any of that, right, Sporsavian.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Hair Ye didn't even know that rule existed. So fascinating.
- 28:07Speaker 4: It's all interesting.
- 28:09Speaker 5: We are.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I just I feel like everybody's learning.
- 28:11Speaker 7: On the fly here, Like what.
- 28:13Speaker 3: More can the Big Ten and the acc se? Like
- 28:15Speaker 3: what more can the conferences do when the schools aren't
- 28:18Speaker 3: even listening to the entire governing body of college athletics,
- 28:21Speaker 3: Like you can make that statement, but I mean they're
- 28:24Speaker 3: just gonna. They already have the tro like they already
- 28:27Speaker 3: have the restraining order. So what more can you do
- 28:30Speaker 3: besides the College Football Playoff Committee saying, hey, you're not
- 28:34Speaker 3: going to be in the playoffs, which could be an
- 28:36Speaker 3: anti trust violation.
- 28:37Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 28:38Speaker 4: And if it is, lawyer, and if it is something
- 28:41Speaker 4: that everybody as a whole feels strongly about, like the
- 28:45Speaker 4: Big Ten, if all the teams get together and be like,
- 28:47Speaker 4: we disagree with this, let's all get together. I have
- 28:52Speaker 4: a gentleman's agreement here we're not going to do this.
- 28:54Speaker 4: We're not going to sue the Big ten or the
- 28:56Speaker 4: NCAA this. We're just going to do it together. That's
- 28:58Speaker 4: the only real way to get something stopped. But it
- 29:03Speaker 4: has to be something. It has to be something very egregious,
- 29:05Speaker 4: and you know, like Lane pointed out, and I think
- 29:07Speaker 4: we can all be sympathetic to the message that he
- 29:10Speaker 4: pointed out is the same thing that Ryan Day for
- 29:12Speaker 4: Ohio State kind of mentioned, like it's crazy that it's
- 29:15Speaker 4: come to this, but this is a you know what,
- 29:17Speaker 4: there's this is a very special exception this rule, this
- 29:21Speaker 4: fifty year rule that was passed. They didn't know they
- 29:23Speaker 4: had the option, and now they do, and a judge
- 29:27Speaker 4: has ruled on it. So it's either going to play
- 29:30Speaker 4: for us or he's going to play for somebody else.
- 29:32Speaker 4: We think he's going to play for somebody else. But
- 29:35Speaker 4: so whatever your opinion on it is, I think we
- 29:37Speaker 4: can all be sympathetic to that. It's just like we
- 29:39Speaker 4: stayed in the first hour today, where is the line?
- 29:41Speaker 4: Where do you draw the line? Where does it end?
- 29:44Speaker 6: There?
- 29:44Speaker 4: Seemingly there is no there's nothing off the table going forward.
- 29:49Speaker 3: I think for this situation specifically, and you can say
- 29:53Speaker 3: how we were talking about earlier, like, yeah, we never
- 29:55Speaker 3: thought this would happen, but it did. But I think
- 29:59Speaker 3: for this specif if five and five situation, the line
- 30:03Speaker 3: is this year, Like, there's not really an argument for
- 30:06Speaker 3: somebody that graduated in twenty twenty three, twenty twenty four
- 30:09Speaker 3: to have a fifth year of eligibility, whether they went
- 30:12Speaker 3: into the draft or not. Like I think for this
- 30:15Speaker 3: it might be like a one year issue where like
- 30:18Speaker 3: they're making the argument, hey, I also get a fifth
- 30:20Speaker 3: year of eligibility because I had I graduated high school
- 30:24Speaker 3: in twenty twenty two, Right, I didn't know that that
- 30:26Speaker 3: was going to be it. I didn't know that was
- 30:28Speaker 3: going to be available to me when I declared for
- 30:30Speaker 3: the draft, right.
- 30:31Speaker 8: And everybody moving forward like knows that that's an option now.
- 30:34Speaker 4: So there's all sorts of hypothetical Yeah, you play, like,
- 30:37Speaker 4: what if somebody you know declares for the draft and
- 30:39Speaker 4: goes the NFL after three years and he goes and
- 30:42Speaker 4: plays one year in the NFL and he doesn't not successful,
- 30:45Speaker 4: gets cut, does he want to come back for a
- 30:47Speaker 4: fifth year? He's technically still within his five year window
- 30:49Speaker 4: from leaving high school football right, Yeah. I mean, there's
- 30:52Speaker 4: all sorts of hypotheticals you could play, but seemingly it
- 30:55Speaker 4: is like you can sue to get what you want.
- 30:57Speaker 5: So who's to say you're not going to say, like,
- 30:59Speaker 5: where are the rule? Where the guy?
- 31:00Speaker 1: Where?
- 31:00Speaker 5: Where it ends? Where the buck stops? We don't know,
- 31:04Speaker 5: but we are going to find at the top.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Yeah, right, the book stops in Death Valley gets Crimson
- 31:13Speaker 4: like it anyway, we'll see. It's a wild times that
- 31:17Speaker 4: we're living in. And get your popcorn ready. Just sit back, relax,
- 31:23Speaker 4: don't get too worked up about it, don't get too
- 31:26Speaker 4: happy about it, sad about it, mad about it, just
- 31:29Speaker 4: watching unfold. It's really there's not a whole lot we
- 31:31Speaker 4: can do except watch. All right, Well, on that note,
- 31:37Speaker 4: let's gonna break. We come back. We will talk a
- 31:39Speaker 4: little NFL football. We come back right here. Off the bench.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Off the bench, all right.
- 31:44Speaker 4: You go to Central Plumbing, Central Plumbing dot Org, your
- 31:48Speaker 4: plumbing experts. The Pain family has been doing it a
- 31:51Speaker 4: long time, a third generation company, and when you've been

- 31:58Speaker 5: You're doing it the right way.
- 31:59Speaker 4: You're true and people the right way got fair prices,

- 32:06Speaker 4: them that they haven't seen. In the plumbing game, we're
- 32:08Speaker 4: talking water lines, we're talking gas lines, tankless water heaters.
- 32:11Speaker 4: If you got a remodel renovation commercial, they've They've done
- 32:16Speaker 4: it for me.
- 32:16Speaker 5: They took an old.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Warehouse that was four walls and a roof and they
- 32:20Speaker 4: basically turned it into a food and beverage facility. We're
- 32:22Speaker 4: talking a boiler, We're talking gas lines, big water lines,
- 32:26Speaker 4: flour drains, you name it, they've done it.
- 32:28Speaker 5: They've also helped us set the house.
- 32:29Speaker 4: I got twenty four to seven emergency service, so I
- 32:31Speaker 4: have that piece of mind at home or your place
- 32:33Speaker 4: of business if something happens, If an emergency occurs, it
- 32:36Speaker 4: doesn't matter the time, the place, the day of the year,
- 32:38Speaker 4: whatever is happening, they can come help you out. Go
- 32:40Speaker 4: check them out Central Plumbing Dot Org.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 32:51Speaker 1: by Community Steels.
- 32:55Speaker 3: A little wait.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I just want to love.
- 33:08Speaker 4: All right looking back here. Off the Bench Tuesday Show
- 33:12Speaker 4: brought to you back Community Steel. These beautiful gold panels
- 33:17Speaker 4: behind us Tuesdays and five too. Do you think the
- 33:22Speaker 4: energy level has matched our other Tuesdays today?
- 33:25Speaker 7: Yeah, every Tuesdays we've.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Had good I know, it's just, you know, it felt like,
- 33:30Speaker 4: you know, the way things are happening. We're not necessarily
- 33:35Speaker 4: being negative, but there's like a little bit of a
- 33:37Speaker 4: not as like happy of a show.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I guess.
- 33:41Speaker 3: I feel like Eve and Jake have been pretty negative,
- 33:43Speaker 3: but I think that I've been and Taylor eventually came
- 33:47Speaker 3: to the side where it's like, Okay, sure, maybe we
- 33:50Speaker 3: don't like it, but do what you gotta do to win.
- 33:53Speaker 5: Can't beat them, join them, can't beat them, join them,
- 33:55Speaker 5: there's nobody else doing it.
- 33:57Speaker 7: Take the lead, make them join you.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it will be super interesting figure out if the
- 34:03Speaker 4: SEC responds to the statements.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Made by the SEC has a meeting in Birmingham today, Okay,
- 34:09Speaker 3: and they're expected to talk about this and try to
- 34:12Speaker 3: come up with something similar to it. The Big Ten
- 34:14Speaker 3: and the ACC are doing.
- 34:16Speaker 5: Yeah, And if you missed it.
- 34:19Speaker 4: At the end of our number two here and as
- 34:21Speaker 4: we saw that the breaking news when in the Big Ten,
- 34:24Speaker 4: the Big tim announcing that they are not going to
- 34:26Speaker 4: allow NFL people that were on an NFL roster to
- 34:29Speaker 4: play in the Big Ten this year. So whether that
- 34:32Speaker 4: means if you were part of the draft and you
- 34:34Speaker 4: did not withdraw before the draft started, you were considered
- 34:38Speaker 4: an NFL player.
- 34:40Speaker 5: So they are not gonna.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Got to operatively define stuff.
- 34:43Speaker 5: Do you have to define it set yourself up for
- 34:46Speaker 5: a lawsuit.
- 34:47Speaker 8: I do like the way the Big Twelve were, I
- 34:49Speaker 8: mean Big Ten worded it. They were like if you
- 34:51Speaker 8: entered the draft, if you signed a contract with any
- 34:53Speaker 8: professional league, if you were on a roster, like they Again,
- 34:57Speaker 8: somebody's going to find a way around it, probably because
- 35:00Speaker 8: what we do. If you find a judge that's a
- 35:02Speaker 8: fan of this team that wants that team to do well,
- 35:05Speaker 8: and well they'll just blindly accept anything. But they kind
- 35:08Speaker 8: of on their older bases covered at least in that statement.
- 35:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, they did, and they cover their basis.
- 35:13Speaker 5: So we'll see.
- 35:14Speaker 4: We'll see how the if the SEC responds to that.
- 35:17Speaker 4: But Elandra just said they are have a meeting today
- 35:21Speaker 4: in Birmingham, so we will see. It's certainly fascinating times
- 35:25Speaker 4: and again sports just continues to be the great reality
- 35:29Speaker 4: television show that we all love and you love it
- 35:32Speaker 4: sometimes because you care about it, you love it, because
- 35:35Speaker 4: sometimes you hate it. Sometimes you love it, but it
- 35:37Speaker 4: always keeps you on the edge of your seat.
- 35:39Speaker 3: I guess my question is I feel like that's already
- 35:41Speaker 3: a rule, Like I just I feel like what the
- 35:48Speaker 3: Big ten is doing is already a rule and every
- 35:54Speaker 3: different Like that's why they're suing. I'm pretty sure. So
- 35:57Speaker 3: I just don't like, what more or can you actually do?
- 36:02Speaker 5: It might not be real because they just never thought
- 36:04Speaker 5: that it needs had to be stated college, how would
- 36:11Speaker 5: you do that?
- 36:12Speaker 7: Your goal is to get there?
- 36:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna ask your friend, Yeah that's the friend, Well

- 37:20Speaker 3: So there is a rule under twelve point two point
- 37:26Speaker 3: three point twenty five. This is the exception to the rule.
- 37:30Speaker 3: For football. A player may enter the NFL draft one
- 37:34Speaker 3: time after enrolling in college without losing NCAA eligibility, provided
- 37:40Speaker 3: that he is not drafted and he declares in riding
- 37:43Speaker 3: his intention to resume college football within seventy two hours
- 37:47Speaker 3: of the draft declaration date to the school's athletic director.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I'm assuming that Dick Kwon Wright didn't do any of that.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Right, Harriett didn't even know that rule existed. So fascinating.
- 38:03Speaker 4: It's all interesting.
- 38:05Speaker 5: We are.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I just I feel like everybody's learning.
- 38:07Speaker 5: On the fly here, Like.
- 38:08Speaker 3: What more can the Big Ten and the acc se?
- 38:11Speaker 3: Like what more can the conferences do when the schools
- 38:13Speaker 3: aren't even listening to the entire governing body of college athletics,
- 38:17Speaker 3: Like you can make that statement, but I mean they're
- 38:19Speaker 3: just gonna They already have the tro like they already
- 38:22Speaker 3: have the restraining order. So what more can you do
- 38:26Speaker 3: besides the College Football Playoff Committee saying, hey, you're not
- 38:30Speaker 3: going to be in the playoffs, which could be an
- 38:32Speaker 3: anti trust violation.
- 38:33Speaker 4: I don't know, And if it is law, and if
- 38:35Speaker 4: it is something that everybody as a whole feels strongly about,
- 38:41Speaker 4: like like the Big Ten, if all the teams get
- 38:42Speaker 4: together and be like, we disagree with this, let's all
- 38:45Speaker 4: get together. I have a gentleman's agreement here. We're not
- 38:49Speaker 4: going to do this. We're not going to sue the
- 38:50Speaker 4: Big Ten or the NCAA. This we're going to do together.
- 38:53Speaker 4: That's the only real way to get something stopped. But
- 38:58Speaker 4: it has to be something, it has to be something
- 39:00Speaker 4: very egregious, and you know, like Lane pointed out, and
- 39:02Speaker 4: I think we can all be sympathetic to the message
- 39:05Speaker 4: that he pointed out is the same thing that Ryan
- 39:07Speaker 4: Day for Ohio State kind of mentioned like it's crazy
- 39:10Speaker 4: that it's come to this, but this is a you
- 39:12Speaker 4: know what, there's this is a very special exception, this rule,
- 39:16Speaker 4: this fifty year rule that was passed. They didn't know
- 39:18Speaker 4: they had the option, and now they do and a
- 39:22Speaker 4: judge has ruled on it. So it's either going to
- 39:25Speaker 4: play for us or he's going to play for somebody else.
- 39:27Speaker 4: We think he's going to play for somebody else. But
- 39:30Speaker 4: so whatever your opinion on it is, I think we
- 39:33Speaker 4: can all be sympathetic to that. It's just like we
- 39:35Speaker 4: stayed in the first hour today, where is the line?
- 39:37Speaker 4: Where do you draw the line? Where does it end?
- 39:39Speaker 3: There?
- 39:40Speaker 4: Seemingly there is no there's nothing off the table going forward.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I think for this situation specifically, and you can say
- 39:48Speaker 3: how we were talking about earlier, like yeah, we never
- 39:51Speaker 3: thought this would happen, but it did. But I think
- 39:54Speaker 3: for this specific five and five situation, the line is
- 39:58Speaker 3: this year, Like, there's not really an argument for somebody
- 40:02Speaker 3: that graduated in twenty twenty three, twenty twenty four to
- 40:05Speaker 3: have a fifth year of eligibility, whether they went into
- 40:08Speaker 3: the draft or not. Like I think for this it
- 40:11Speaker 3: might be like a one year issue where like they're
- 40:13Speaker 3: making the argument, Hey, I also get a fifth year
- 40:16Speaker 3: of eligibility because I had I graduated high school in
- 40:19Speaker 3: twenty twenty two, Right, I didn't know that that was
- 40:22Speaker 3: going to be it. I didn't know that was going
- 40:23Speaker 3: to be available to me when I declared for the draft.
- 40:26Speaker 7: Right, And everybody moving forward like knows that that's an option.
- 40:29Speaker 4: Now, So there's all sorts of hypothetical Yeah, you play, like,
- 40:32Speaker 4: what if somebody you know declares for the draft and
- 40:34Speaker 4: goes the NFL after three years and he goes and
- 40:37Speaker 4: plays one year in the NFL and he doesn't not successful,
- 40:41Speaker 4: gets cut, does he want to come back for a
- 40:42Speaker 4: fifth year. He's technically still within his five year window
- 40:45Speaker 4: from leaving high school football, right, Yeah, I mean there's
- 40:48Speaker 4: all sorts of hypotheticals you could play. But seemingly. It
- 40:51Speaker 4: is like you can sue to get what you want.
- 40:53Speaker 4: So who's to say you're not going to say, like
- 40:54Speaker 4: where the rule, where the guy, where it ends? Where
- 40:57Speaker 4: the bucksops? We don't know, but we.
- 41:00Speaker 7: Are going to find os at the top.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Yeah, right, the books in Death Valley gets Crimson like
- 41:09Speaker 4: it anyway, We'll see. It's a wild times that we're
- 41:13Speaker 4: living in. And get your popcorn ready. Just sit back, relax,
- 41:19Speaker 4: don't get too worked up about it, don't get too
- 41:21Speaker 4: happy about it, sad about it, mad about it. Just
- 41:25Speaker 4: watching unfold. It's really there's not a whole lot we
- 41:27Speaker 4: can do except watch. All right, Well, on that note,
- 41:33Speaker 4: it's gonna break. We come back. We will talk a
- 41:35Speaker 4: little NFL football. We come back right here.

- 43:11Speaker 4: Mexican logger. I can't wait to have.

- 43:17Speaker 5: Good glood, good glood.
- 43:21Speaker 4: It's gonna be my beer of choice all season long
- 43:23Speaker 4: for tailgating.
- 43:24Speaker 7: Helloa.
- 43:29Speaker 5: All right, let's see what we got here? Did anybody
- 43:32Speaker 5: get a question in?
- 43:34Speaker 6: Uh?
- 43:34Speaker 4: Hashtag? Asked the bench? Why is asked the bench the
- 43:37Speaker 4: red headed step child of O TB.
- 43:38Speaker 5: Mailbag?
- 43:39Speaker 8: It's not It wouldn't it be the other way around,
- 43:42Speaker 8: because ask the bench every day to be mailbag only tuesdays.
- 43:46Speaker 5: So yeah, it's like completely, it's not close to the same.
- 43:53Speaker 7: Yeah, is not the same.
- 43:55Speaker 5: You don't even look good.
- 43:59Speaker 4: Let's see here, oh, hashtag ask the bench brought to
- 44:02Speaker 4: you about dose sekis? What's your favorite omelet ingredients?
- 44:05Speaker 3: I don't really eat omelets. I'm not a big egg person.
- 44:09Speaker 8: I mean either, but I do. I like a bill
- 44:11Speaker 8: pepper and an omelet some onion.
- 44:14Speaker 4: I love bill drown omelet like at a like a
- 44:18Speaker 4: Sunday brunch type situation, like at a hotel.
- 44:21Speaker 5: Love that easy for me?
- 44:23Speaker 4: Sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese, onion, spinach Okay.
- 44:30Speaker 7: Never had the spinach seems hard to make.
- 44:34Speaker 4: It's a little challenge me once you get it, so
- 44:37Speaker 4: like you consider it myself pretty pretty good omelet I'm
- 44:41Speaker 4: kind of the egg guy.
- 44:41Speaker 8: Okay, everybody calls me the would you say you're an
- 44:48Speaker 8: egg spert omelet maker?
- 44:52Speaker 5: Thanks guys, Razor.
- 44:53Speaker 7: Yeah, he's gonna hear them all the time.
- 44:56Speaker 4: I made this question out myself. I asked the bench
- 44:59Speaker 4: brought to you by me and the seconds on this one,
- 45:02Speaker 4: you buying me credit to myself, credit to myself. A
- 45:07Speaker 4: good chocolate chip cookie or a good brownie.
- 45:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna always go cookie.
- 45:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I think I'm chocolate chip faster than a chocolate chip.
- 45:14Speaker 5: There's some I feelink there should be some thought put
- 45:17Speaker 5: to that.
- 45:17Speaker 8: Brownies are great, but a chocolate chip cookie that's perfectly baked.
- 45:20Speaker 7: It's real salt.
- 45:21Speaker 4: I'll say it's easier to do a good brownie than
- 45:25Speaker 4: a good cookie. So for that reason only, I'll go
- 45:28Speaker 4: cookie because when you find it, Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 5: It's like a good chocolate chip cookie is a unicorn.
- 45:32Speaker 8: Brownie is the floor guy, right, high floor. The ceiling
- 45:36Speaker 8: for that chocolate chip cos ceiling is really high.
- 45:38Speaker 4: But like any box is gonna like you can buy
- 45:41Speaker 4: at the store, it's gonna make a good brownie.
- 45:42Speaker 3: True, but not every box is gonna make a good cookie,
