Is it two every Yeah, we're doing two last week? Two every question, Matt. It's like you never left the podcast. We're giving away two hats over on the Facebook, so better chance to win. ⁓ we ran it a couple weeks ago on Instagram. This week we're running on the Facebook. Yeah, by the next episode, hopefully I'll have mine. I will take the over. Matt will not have his hats during the next podcast. But I'll take the under. Come pick ⁓ up, dude. I'll make it Come pick ⁓ up. We'll see. I think Matt, you I think the L S U hat's pretty sick. It is, I have. Special occasion. Special occasion. Yeah. We're going to get into the LSU a little bit later in the show. We'll talk some college football. And ⁓ hope everyone's having or had a happy Labor Day. That that's when we're recording this podcast. So we are doing labor on Labor Day. So probably not should shouldn't be doing the podcast, but we are. Fun labor. Yeah, some fun labor. And ⁓ also throughout this podcast, I have a fantasy football draft starting in eight minutes. So you're gonna hear me probably asking Matt. Who I should take if first I'm hearing about this, by the way. Yeah, I have the eighth pick in this draft. So throughout the podcast, you guys are about to see a master class, all right? I'm about to podcast and do a fantasy football draft. It's actually my last fantasy football draft. This is my fourth league that I'm drafting for. Interesting. See, it's wild that you're in more leagues than I am. And I view myself as like a I'm in three. ⁓ no, I am in four. I was about to say you I'm in four. You'll also just go do random drafts on ESPN. You'll just go I didn't do that this year. Surprisingly enough. Rare. It is. Yeah. Normally you like to get it. Sorry if you guys see my also we're putting on a master class. We're recording this during the SMU Florida State game, which for some reason I the power outage went on. So they're playing this game with no like official clock on the field. The officials will be keeping time. That's controversy around college football already this this week with officials keeping time. ⁓ there's like some lights are operational. There's no replay review and there's no helmet communication on the field. I think only the offense and defense coordinators are gonna like walkie-talkies, so that's what you just saw flash on my screen over here, f flash it on me. It's like the the refs of the missing game had walkie talkies. Yeah, we're gonna also Matt, we're teasing the show really well. We're gonna get into college football just happened this past week and ⁓ there was some some controversies that came out of it, but week one's officially Almost officially in the books. Now we'll be getting into week two, which there's some big games leading up. Which I guess that leads me to Matt, our show preview here. We will be doing Brodi's of the week, followed up with some top football headlines around the NFL and college football ⁓ landscape. Then we'll begin with one final question. So should be all good to go there. Matt, am I missing anything? We had our weekend recap. I played I played golf today, but I wasn't really gonna get too much into that. I played pretty well. So Yeah. I mean I I went to a Rangers game. You did go the Rangers game during the LC game. Saturday. Yeah. During well technically yes. They got postponed. There's a bunch of lightning and Yeah, L S U game. Yeah. I don't think it started until like yeah, L S U game. I don't think it started eight forty. Yeah, you post it on your store, you're like post the Range Game, what's this guy doing? There's a big L SU game going on. This guy's a huge L S U fan. I I really lucked out. Yeah, it worked out. So Very cool, very cool. We can get into Birdies of the Week, which Matt, do you want to lead us off because you have a college football related one? Yeah. I'll lead us off. Okay. ⁓ so we'll start with Miami ⁓ versus Stanford. Obviously that went how all of us expected to go. Yeah, Stanford trembling all the way across to Miami. Correct. Very tough trek for them. ⁓ I mean Miami was just in the national championship, right? Carson Beck and the rest of them, but ⁓ they kinda kept that that streak alive, right? They might be there again this year after this performance. Twelve catches, two hundred and thirty four yards, and three touchdowns in less than three quarters, by the way. I have to say, I didn't know it was less than three quarters. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't really watch this game because once you s which you said it was a blowout against Stanford. But ⁓ I do know Malachi Tony. We talked about him at length during the college football playoffs last year. He single handedly kept Miami in the playoffs ⁓ with some of the performances he was put on a receiver. And like you said, 234 yards. I saw he did already do a Heisman trophy pose. Did a couple of them. Yeah. Yeah, I mean he was. He had five catches, eighty-nine yards, and two touchdowns in the first quarter. That's in yeah. That's an insane clip. He broke Miami's single game receiving record for two hundred and thirty-four. I did see that, which is crazy because Miami's such a historical powerhouse. Prestigious like this is where everybody goes. This outside of like the SEC for the Big Ten. So outside of everywhere? Pretty much. I mean ⁓ historic school, man. Like he's eighteen years old. He turns nineteen on ⁓ on the seventeenth of this month on September seventeenth. Happy early birthday, Malachi Tony. Happy early birthday. Like people are talking about like Ryan Williams of Alabama being super young and already super good. Malachi Tony is might be better. I didn't know I didn't realize he was eighteen, so last year when he was dicing him up, I guess I guess he was eighteen last year. He's turning nineteen this year. Yeah. Same thing with Ryan Williams of Alabama. Super young, super talented receivers. ⁓ so the previous record, by the way, for people that want to know, the Miami receiving record in a single game was set by Eddie Brown in nineteen eighty four with two hundred and twenty yards. Damn, nineteen eighty four two hundred and twenty yards. That's ⁓ Saw leather helmet days, but I mean it wasn't they weren't throwing yeah, they weren't throwing the ball like that. ⁓ he was also the first receiver in Miami history to have a thousand yards. Damn, so that's when Miami became the air raid. Apparently. ⁓ I mean also Darien Minsa. Is that the new quarterback for Miami? Yeah. Okay, so that's who they're replacing Carson back with. Very early Heisman candidate with Yeah, I was about to say I saw he was also in the like the Heisman candidate race already. So we might see something last year where that was kind of hurting I mean, once again, I don't want to get too much into it. Doing Heisman poses week one might be a a little early, you know, for Malachi Tony. I also saw the quarterback was also in like the odds for it. So Yeah, but I mean if you have twelve for two hundred and thirty four and three touchdowns in the first game, I I I guess against Stanford. Like they're Decent. Yeah, Stanford's not like it's not like you're Ohio State and you're playing ball state. Yeah. Well, what are you talking about, dude? Ball state, they I saw people were saying ball state had a chance. It's like I don't I don't think ball state has chance. Yeah. It's not like you're playing ball state. You're playing an ACC opponent. No, yeah. And there's normally a lot of like blowouts week one. So the fact that he stood out, I saw like the the other Heisman candidate receiver wise was Jeremiah Smith for Ohio State. You talk about ball state. He had eight receptions, a hundred and fifty one yards and two touchdowns, and also had probably his first reception of the year was probably already in for could it could I say catch of the year candidate possibly? Pinted against his helmet as he's falling into the end zone, sticks up one hand to hold the ball. Like that's some that's some grow man shit right there. I think I it was a very good catch, man. It was a good catch. But we can't we can't solidify that. Well, for Certainly an early candidate. That's what I'm saying. It's an early candidate. I mean, like, dude, we're in week one. Actually, like, yeah, it's It doesn't feel like we're in a week one. It doesn't feel like we're in week one. Like this. The first week gave us so much. Yeah. No, it's been so hectic. I mean, just like trying to watch all the college football that was going on this week. Don't get me wrong. I've I really found my love w just with like the certain games that weren't blowouts. Like if there was a game that was like thirty points, I was like, All right, on to the next game. I didn't really need to finish it out. Like Miami Stanford, I don't need to see forty five six. That's he finished it in third three quarters for Malchi Tony. I don't need to see the rest of that game. I think I think we're good to go. And that happened a lot across the college football landscape. I know ⁓ Indiana blew him out. ⁓ we're gonna get into the Michigan stuff here in a little bit, just 'cause against Western Michigan, that kind of pissed me off and I got some I got some I gotta let out some anger on that game. I think it pissed everybody off. No, but I mean just like There was blowouts. We didn't really see any close games. I mean, even we're gonna get into the LC Clemson. I wanna tease too much of the show about what we're gonna get into, like we're gonna talk about There's not supposed to be blowouts this week. Like the first week is supposed be just kind of chalk, right? There's not supposed to be close games the first week. No ⁓ no major upsets, is what you're saying. You said blowouts. I said chalk. Yeah. It's supposed to be pretty chalk. There's there's not really supposed to be upsets. But this sometimes it's magical though. We were just treated. Yeah. This first week. We were spoiled. Yep. Speaking of which, we're gonna be the NFL season starting this week. If you're listening to this podcast, first game's actually tonight. So shout out. We have the Seahawks taking all the Patriots. But Thursday night we're gonna be having the forty niners taking on the Rams in Australia. So I don't know if it's actually Thursday for them. I've been trying to learn about the whole like timing differences. I think Australia's a full day ahead. That leads me into my Brody of the Week. 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. So if you don't know, the 49ers traveled to Australia on September 2nd. They went west against the time date line, the international dateline. And they landed in Australia on September 4th. You might say, okay, why is Raheem Morris your Brody of the week? Well, Raheem Morris's 50th birthday was September 3rd, and he didn't get to celebrate it. Your fiftieth birthday, you don't get to celebrate, you're just on a plane flying to Australia. It's just just like it never happened. I bet like whenever he landed on September fourth, he just has to like, Hey, it's my birthday. I'll just celebrate it like it is back in the States. So before we get too much further in the podcast, happy birthday, Raheed Morris. That's why you're my property. Happy birthday, brother. Happy birthdays. ⁓ also have fun against Happy birthday. Here's your present. Aaron Dunwell, Miles Garrett. Actually, he his his birthday gift is Puka Nakua, Matthew Stafford, Devontae Adams, Kyra Williams. He has to try and stop those guys. ⁓ Matt, I'm on the clock. I'm on the clock. Round eight or pick eight in the fantasy football draft. I have Almond Rawl or James Cook. First seven was shock. It was one through seven. ⁓ ⁓ Gibbs, Robinson, Puka, Chase, JSON. McCaffrey, McCaffrey. Someone else. ⁓ Jonathan Taylor. Okay. All right. I got fifty six seconds. Who are we going? James Cook or Alma Ra? I like James Cook just because he has the same last name as me. I already have Alma Ra in another last one. Let's get different. I was thinking I would go Oman Ra, but let's go James Cook. Yeah. We already have St. Brown. All right, we're going James Cook. Pick you're in. We'll see what happens. But yeah, also I saw that Kyle Shanahan in his ⁓ his ⁓ interviews that he's been doing with the media this week, he's all out of sync, dude. He's he does not know what day it is in Australia. He was trying to describe like his their week plan getting ready for the game, and he just doesn't know what he I think they they said like Thursday or Wednesday is like their install base their install base for the game, and like Tuesday they were doing that. So he's like, I'm all out of sync. He's like, I don't know what's happening. And then the Rams, who they're playing, are doing the exact opposite. They're just flying in, I think they're not even gonna be in Australia for twenty four hours before the game starts. They're flying in last minute. I think they're flying in on Tuesday for the game. So The game's on Thursday. Or no yeah, they're flying on Wednesday. Yeah, I'm already I'm trying I've been trying to be so much in the ⁓ the Australia time that I don't even know what's going on. I mean that is also maybe they would Prefer the game across the globe to be the first game of the season? Yeah, the problem is though, like the 49er, I I was listening to like a clip of like what was what was happening with like the the times and stuff. And like the Rams won't ever get acclimated to Australia time. They're just gonna treat it as like a the it's gonna be like the Thursday night. It's gonna be like Thursday night for them in Australia when they're playing at like, I think it's ten AM. So it's gonna feel like Thursday night. But then when they fly back to the States for week two, they'll still be in their like US time frame of things. Versus like the Ran or the Forty Niners, whenever they go back to the States, they're gonna have to get all they take a couple of days, get reacclimated to like the US time and then go on to week two. So almost like losing a couple of days in that. So I'm gonna be interested see which team seems like they can handle it better. I will say the Rams are three and ⁓ in international games and the I think believe just the games in ⁓ England that they've gone across. They've done the same strategy multiple times. The forty niners don't really know where they're at, but Just very interesting stuff there from ⁓ I guess the the Niners will be far away from the electrical substation. Yeah, maybe maybe the maybe the field will be right at it. So it might be their their best chance to win a game. Yeah. But either way, ⁓ Matt. I'm about to be back on the back on the clock. Here we go. Okay. Justin Jefferson just went. My second round pick. How many teams are in this? This is ten. I have Hen. Amarian Hampton and Chase Brown. Also Derek Henry, Ashagenti, Drake London, Jeremia Love. I think I like I don't want to go Hamptons. He's the same by weak as James Cook. I like Han. You like A Chan? What about a Chase what about a Chase Brown? Twee tweak. What do we feel about Chase Brown? Good fantasy back. Mm-hmm. I just feel like you you give me A Chan or Brown. I'm taking away. Alright, I'm taking H in. I got Chann. His main is gonna depend on him. I I name this team Brody Pod, so we're gonna see. He's their best player by ⁓ fucking country mile. Yeah. So we'll see what's going on there. All right, with that ⁓ Woody what do got? I was gonna say he's not gonna compete with Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase. That is true. That is true. We'll go receiver back when we c when we come back, we'll see. All right, that's it for Birdies of the Week. Next we'll come back and do some of the top headlines from the NFL and college football and maybe a little maybe a little fantasy football as well. All right, we're back to do some top headlines starting off in the NFL, but before I don't know, I'm about to be up for my my third pick, so we're gonna work through that as well. Hopefully it's good podcasting content. Listen to a fantasy football draft live. Live live ⁓ view from an expert, obviously. Yeah. Also shout out Florida State and SMU. The game is now tied seven seven and no one knows what time it is in that game. I mean, people watching this are Are you talking in the stands? Are at least in two leagues. Yeah, actually we should make the requirement to be in this podcast to to listen to this podcast, you have to be in like two or three fantasy football leagues. I don't think we can Afford to do that right now, but okay, so I'm up in one pick. I got one minute. Can we can we filibuster for a minute? Jeremiah Love just went. Trey ⁓ McBride's gone. We're down to Brock Bowers and Chris Olave. I'm guaranteed one of those guys. Off of Garrett Wilson, brief hall. I don't really I kinda already got those guys on another team. Yeah, I don't. Here's Javante, Kyron Williams, Devonta Smith. They have two Yeah, two running backs. I need to get a receiver here. Chris Ol okay. The other tight end just went. Brock Bauers just went. Chris Olave's there. I think we take him, right? Yes. Yeah. Let's give f let's have a fun team. It's a no doubt. It's a fucking no doubt. I already got There's no Jordan Tyson. The pick's in. I already made it. Former all pro second team, Chris Olave. Yeah. There's no Jordan Tyson there as an IR for four weeks. Who he's competing with Devon Vale and Yeah. ⁓ actually I'm about to be up for my about to be up for my fourth pick here. I am about that. I'll talk about Michael Wilson signing his new extension with the Arizona Cardinals. Three years, seventy five million dollars. Not bad. Michael Wilson, wide receiver one now for the Cardinals? I I would assume so. No, it's gotta be Trey Bright. Okay, we're if we're involving tight ends, yes. If his competition is Marvin Harrison Jr., then he might be wide receiver one because he's been talking about a potential bust candidate. It's Marvin Harrison Jr. ⁓ He's there's a lot of I'm back on the clock. Yeah. Speaking of pressure, Kyrie Williams, how do we feel about him? He's up as the top pick for me. You he's got Blake Corm breathed on his neck. He does. There's ⁓ Travis was it E Chan? Is that is that what we're calling him now? Or HN now. Wynshawn Judkins, not really happy with those running backs. There's Devoncey Smith, T ⁓ Tedo, Tetaroa McMillan, Zay Flowers, Amika Buka, Ladd McConkey, Colson Loveland, Lamar Jackson. Who do you like out those? I kinda like Kyra. I don't I don't know if I'd get a running back. I do like I mean if you have like I mean Ladd is gonna be the wide receiver one, there's no Kenyan Allen. You got Ameco Buka who's gonna be wide the wide receiver one, there's no Mike Evans. Thirty seconds. Do we hate Zay Flowers? We hate Zay Flowers. Okay, we hate Zay Flowers. I don't I don't think it hate Zay Flowers that much though. Over those guys? Fifteen seconds, Matt. Give me somebody. I mean I'm gonna give ya I like Latin McConkey, man. Alright, we'll go I like lad. That scares me. Take somebody else then. Take who you want. I might be a little bit of a reach. I would say I would say flowers. We'll sh we'll see. I might be just putting myself in for hurt. Let us know down the comments. Let's know down the comments. That one's gonna hurt. I'm scared about that pig. Zay over Lad over If I had ten seconds, I think I could have been convinced to take Han over Who'd you say? Over Mekabuka. J.F. was what the sixty ninth best player in the league this year apparently extension. Extension, sixty ninth best player. Ladd burned me last year, man. Ladd kind of hurt me bad. But that was all they got. Yeah. It's him and Quentin Johnson and David Njoku. No Keenan Allen, though. No Keenan Allen. Anyways, Michael Wilson. ⁓ yeah. No extension. Good for him. Really good receiver. We'll see what the Cardinals have. We will see. Starting to talk about more bad teams here. Tua was announced as the Falcons starter for week one over Michael Penix. So there's a meme going out of Michael Penix pointing at Tua. I d I don't know if that's in relation to that. That was preseason. Yeah, shout out shout out Tua getting another start for the Falcons. I I'd be scared to take some Falcons receivers. I mean, as a Saints fan, I would prefer this. You're you're less scared of Tua's. Pardon me think Tua's gonna go two ways in with the Falcons. He's either gonna be really bad in what we saw in the preseason, which that's more than likely probably gonna be what the outcome is, or he's gonna somehow just Turn into the two of old and just lighted up. Two that led the league in passing yards? Yeah. But now he doesn't have Tyreek Hill or Jalen Waddell. Or Mike McDaniel. Or Mike McDaniel's. He's got Craig London and Do we even know the Falcons offensive coordinator? I mean, I got this cool thing they'll tell me. Falcons offensive coordinator. ⁓ yes, Tommy Rees. Absolutely. Yeah, we all forgot Tommy Reese, offensive offensive. Really coded guy. I'm surprised I got him. So contract year for him. Tommy Reese is never coming on the podcast. Speaking of someone else that's never coming on the podcast, Roger Goodell, Matt. Not anymore. Not anymore. Roger Goodell signs a new four year season extension with the NFL and now runs through the twenty thirty season and will expire March thirty first, twenty thirty one. Doesn't even seem like a real year. Roger Goodell will also nearly be seventy two years old and have served twenty-four years after this extension is done in the NFL. Yeah, is he wants to be like a player in the league? ⁓ new ex new extension. Couldn't even imagine who else would be like on the commissioner list other than Roger Goodell. I think he hasn't been the commissioner my whole life, but like growing up watching football, I've only known Roger Goodell. Yeah. I I I couldn't possibly name the guy before him. ⁓ I know it. What is it? NFL was it Stein? I think that was NBA. So I was thinking I might have known the guy before Adam Seller. I think that was Stein. Something Stein, maybe. ⁓ it was Paul Tago Taggy Tagelaboo. I'm not pulling that. P Rosel, that's the one I've P. Rosel, that's the one I've heard of before. Also, I'm about to be back up in my fantasy football pick here in a minute. We're looking at T. Higgins, DeAndre Swift, Tootin, Beachell Tootin, Jalen Waddle, Bucky Irving, Terry McLaurin. Do we go scary Terry? Just get a get a wide receiver. Get our third work. I think we need to get a running back here. We already get two running backs, receivers. Normally I like to get a a third top guy. Completely off topic. I was thinking of David Stern, by the way, NBA. That's okay, that's how I'm Adam Silver. That's the only guy I could have come up with. Alright, I'm on the clock. I got T. Higgins, Swift, Tootin, Bucky Irving is my top. I like Tootin. You like Tootin' upside. Even though he has the same bye week as James Cook, I still think we're okay there, right? We're not worrying about bye weeks. We're not worried about bye weeks. Yes. Early on in the draft. But you have James Cook. A Chan. A Chen and then Zay Flowers. And we have Olave. You have a Lave. Yeah, T. Higgins gets some more receivers. Do you lave there? I already have Olave. So you took Olave was my what? So you took Zay Flowers. Zay Flowers is fourth pick. ⁓ I think we go Tootin here. I think we I think we the running back's about to drop off. We gotta get another guy. Yeah, a hundred percent. Yeah. We're taking Tootin. Welcome to the welcome to the Brady Pod team. Beachel Tootin. Very fast. ⁓ insane forty yard dash. I think low four threes. And a short king. I think he's listed at five nine. He's a short king. Yeah. ⁓ Matt, I have I see you're on the dock, you had fantasy football. Do you want to do or wanna to college football? We kind of flew through our NFL headlines. Other other than other than I had the the NFL week one schedule, if we saw any games that stood out there. We can just go ahead and say for the Cowboys and Saints games. Saints are playing the Lions win or loss, Matt. I'm gonna go win. The Lions. I know, I'm gonna go win. I know the the line does not respect the Saints. I don't actually know what the line is. It's a Lions by seven. Ooh. Okay. Crazy absurd. Maybe we should have taken MRO in the first in the first one. Yeah. ⁓ And then ⁓ Cowboys versus Giants. I'm gonna go ahead and say Cowboys win, but Easily. I think we talked about it last week on the podcast. That game is gonna go anyway. ⁓ I mean all the all the fun games are gonna happen on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm back on the clock. We got we got wide receivers here. We got T. Higgins, Ta scary Terry, Jamison Williams, Roma Dunze, and we got Jane Dales, Drake Mae, and then it's Dave Montgomery, Darian Price, ⁓ Trayvon Henderson. I wouldn't be mad at T. Higgins. I'm not mad at T. Higgins either, dude. I wouldn't have hated T. Higgins. He'd be the first guy on the bench, too. Kinda works out where I can ⁓ first guy on the flex. Yeah. No, I'd be ⁓ Tooton with the flex. Yeah. I wouldn't hate a a Higgins here. It's not a the very good first bench option. We'll go t we'll go T. Higgins, then we'll come back and get a running back. I gotta take T Higgins. Respect that. Yeah. Yeah, like you were asking, I mean Wednesday, obviously Tubberla Reed much this Wednesday. Yep. Thursday, Nyers, Rams Obviously incredible. I'm interested to see what the Australia Stadium looks like for that. It's gonna be fun, but I mean Isn't rugby big in Australia? Isn't it gonna be like a rugby pitch? Yeah, it's gonna be fun. But I mean Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett together. ⁓ I saw I just saw Miles Garrett doing his ⁓ he was working out with somebody and they were teaching him how to hit harder. Throwing his hip into it. That's horrendous news for the NFC West. No, it was like ⁓ it's like those guys, you where they run at each other as fast as they can and see who can knock each other down. It was one of those guys teaching them how to hit. That's terrible news. Yeah, dude, the video was actually cool on Instagram. It was just him just me lighting this guy up. We got Bills Jackson's on the noon slate. That's gonna be good. I think it's gonna be a very good offense versus a fantastic defense. Correct. We're gonna see, I mean She CJ Shroud is what, in a contract year? I think I see what the worst game is, and it's not gonna be nationally televised. It's gotta be Jets Titans. Correct. That's okay. That's what I'm The Jags at least have some superstars that are worth watching. I am starting the Jets defense in one of my leagues. Just in hopes that it it is like ten to three. That's gonna be a disgusting game. But I feel like the Titans are sneaky. I feel like both honestly, I feel like both are sneaky. The Jets? You think the Jets stinky? Yes. I think there's a Q card. Reese Hall, Gary Wilson, Adnanai Mitchell, Kenyon Sadiq. Good young offensive line, great potential air. Obviously the downfall is at the most important position. Gino? Unfortunately. Yeah, that's probably true, honestly. He was good, what, two years ago on the Seahawks, but I think I think the Jets as a whole is just a let down organization. It's a tough scene. Tough scene there. Yeah. I think the ⁓ let's see, was there any other sneaky games? I'm just looking at the televised games. Game of the week for Foxes, Washington and Eagles. Meaning Packers, Vikings. Which is just inherently gonna be good. Yeah, that should be good. I'm I'm just the Packers, I feel like the Packers are not gonna be good this year. They ⁓ they just seem like they're the team that's Like last year we saw the forty niners were the injury riddled team and they still kinda are, but like the Packers are kind of sticking up their two on just injuries and some off the field issues with the whole Josh Jacobs situation going on. I don't really know exactly where that's at right now, but I know like fantasy wise, a lot of people like Josh Jacobs is falling all out of boards just 'cause yeah, that whole off the field controversy that he has going on. This is all the more reason to for all the fantasy football commissioners. Let's schedule the drafts as close to the first game of the season as you can. Stuff like this will come up, then Josh Jacobs is obsolete and then you know you're kinda fucked. I don't think he's supposed to play until October, but I did see that his hearing got moved up an entire month, so it's September something. Gotta move things away. Early September, I think. But We're so we're so good at filibustering, Matt. ⁓ I think Broncos Chiefs, that's the Sunday night football. Or no, that's the Monday night football game. That's gonna be a big game. Yeah, I I mean, even if it's Justin Fields though, that's kind of fun. Yeah, I guess. ⁓ no. Justin Fields scored seven points. I really wanna see ⁓ Jaden Jaden Waddle's been going high in a lot of drafts. I wanna see where what Jaden Waddle's gonna be doing for the Broadcast is he gonna be the true wide receiver one. I mean I think you brought it up. Sean Payton said like he's gonna be used a lot in the offense. 100%. I think this is easily not easily, but the best receiver Sean Payton might have outside of like Michael Thomas and Arpist Colson. ⁓ are you talking this in the history of Sean Payton? In his in his history, yes. So he's gonna be he's gonna use him in X Ways he's never been used before. Pause. Pause. Pause. Huge pause. But he's gonna be used to his limit. He's gonna get the most out of him. Pause again. But he's gonna be dude. I I honestly like the way I guess how late he's been going in fantasy drafts, I think he's gonna be a steal at the end the year. He's been going early, I thought. He he's kinda moved up. I think it's gonna end up being I mean, I know Cortland Sutton is there and that's kind of it, I guess, for the Broncos. But I mean Jalen Waddle's incredibly fast. He's they still have to shown that in the preseason game. They already have a connection with him and Bonex. Yeah. Yeah, Bonex, I mean I the Broncos won a lot of close games last year. I'm interested to see if they can 'cause normally like that doesn't always carry over from season to season. Be interested to see kind of this year if they're still gonna I mean the Bears were kind of the same way a couple of seasons ago. ⁓ just these teams that kinda get lucky in seasons, like they have a field goal missed or they have some a ball go their way, like it doesn't always carry over the NFL season, so like normally it's like the teams that were good are gonna stay good, whether it's like Bills, the Rams. I this Seahawks are a good team, but like they're probably the most slept on Super Bowl champion of all time. Correct. They would like to see what that list is like. Now the Broncos have like a bona fide home run hitter. in a receiver like a arguable receiver one. Right. Like Jaden Waddle's incredibly fast. Obviously on the Dolphins. Right. He made two of him and Tyree Kill got two of the most passing yards in a I'm back on the clock. Round seven season. Round seven I got Jaden Daniels, Trevion Henderson, Carnell Tate, Stevenson, Michael Pittman, Tony Pollard. Harold Fannon, DK Metcalf, Christian Watson, Dak Prescott, Parker Washington. Should we get a running back or should we go Parker Washington? Jamie Henderson, Stevenson, or Pollard? Yeah, I mean, if you're gonna if you want to go receiver, might lean towards the the upside of Parker Washington, maybe, but that's just like the the typical thing this year that's been like in all drafts, everybody said Parker Washington is the guy. Yeah, should I just take Tony Pollard for some running back depth? See, I did that ⁓ one of my drafts. Because she was I think I can get Parker Washington on the back come around 'cause I'm about to jump again. Yeah. So I think we will Pollard here. I don't mind Pollard, man. Over a thousand yards, six touchdowns or seven touchdowns last year. Well, I'm just so scared. I'm so scared of the freaking Patriots running back field. Correct. It is I don't know, Henderson or Stevenson. Stevenson's listed as a starter, but Henderson's obviously like the the guy that they drafted pretty high. So I think he had like nine hundred yards and yeah. Maybe twelve type shounds last year, but And that gives me running back depth. I can move things around. I'm about to actually ooh, I'm about to be up again. Parker Washington I if it's a dynasty draft, I would've done Henderson like I did, but Yeah. It's not, it's one year. We're back up. Parker Washington is available. That was a great call by us, Matt. Yeah, DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman. I think we go Parker Washington here. I honestly in all my drafts, I've never thought of taking either of the the Steelers receivers. I took DK in one of my ⁓ couple of my or just my mind. It's interesting because they have obviously Aaron Rodgers and Michael Pittman and DK are very good receivers. Yeah, we're building we're building our bench right now. All right. Man, let's let's ⁓ we did pretty good on the NFL. Let's get into college football now. I got a little time before my next pick comes up. And I'll let you s I'll let you start us off, man. You're wearing the LSU hat. LSU had a ginormous win against Club Sin. Go ahead and lead us off here. Ginomers might be an understatement. What? Ginomers might be an understatement. That is yeah, that is very true. I did say, I mean, this is the Lane Tiffin era. Right. And how better to start it off than a Fifty one to thirteen win. Right. Yeah. An absolute massacre. Yeah, I did see Delane Kiffin at halftime. I think it was like thirty one to three, and he's like He was taking jump shots. Yeah, and he was like, Imagine if we had NFL players on our team. 'Cause it yeah, there was that whole controversy about the NFL players come back. ⁓ I think it was ⁓ was it was it Daquan Wright was his name? Yes. They D tackle ⁓ no, he's tied in. ⁓ he was at the Browns training camp. Yeah. And ⁓ there's a couple of guys that might have gone LSU, but Yeah, and so the the judge did rule, it came out last week, the judge did rule that these NFL players could play on the SEC teams. Lane Kiffin decided not to play any of those guys because he was like it just seems like it was a little bit of a distraction for our team and then at halftime he's doing his interview and then he finishes the interview and he runs away and he goes, Imagine if we had pro players on our team. Yeah. They're still beating the breaks off Clemson. Yeah, speaking of beating the breaks off. Thirty-eight first downs to only eight on Clemson's side. Six hundred and forty-four total yards to one hundred and forty-five. LSC was eleven for sixteen on third downs. Clemson was one of thirteen. And then in his debut, Sam Levitt was sixteen of twenty eight, two hundred and thirty passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Little underwhelming, but you got it done. Yeah, twelve rushes for a hundred and thirteen yards and two touchdowns. Which was I mean watching the game, I'm not gonna say it was I don't want to say it was underwhelming because they put up fifty one points, right? But I do wanna see I'm used to like Joe Burrow, Jane Daniels passing the ball. I know what Jaden Daniels was Running the ball a lot as well. But ⁓ I mean it was it was an absolute beat down. I I mean at one point I just had to turn the game off and ⁓ and and flip it over to the next game we're gonna talk about. But as far as just like a starting out point for your like time with a with a college team with LSU and Lane Kiffin, like I think they said fifty one points is the fourth most in LSU history. So I guess coaches just have a great track record of going to L SU in their first game being a massacre. I don't think that any of them had as big of a atmosphere as the L S U versus Clemson. Like, I at least thought this game would be a little bit competitive. And boy was I wrong. It was just a a beat down. Now there was a ring delay. You could say maybe that had something to do with it. But Lane Kiffin just put on a master class of like I think he's proven everywhere he's gone. I think they said he's the first coach ever to coach at three different or be the head coach for three different ⁓ SEC programs. He's moved around a bunch, but it seems like L S U, at least starting off They're in like the right spot with having him and honestly, like I was sleeping on LSU. You don't ever know what's gonna happen, especially with all the transfer portals that they had. But it just seemed like this is something that's gonna be possibly we're gonna be talking national championship contenders moving on down the line because they did look really good. Now I'm gonna be interested to see like what happens whenever they get the SEC schedule does start, but this is a great first start for Lane Kiff and probably this could be the end for Dabo Sweeney Clemson. I agree. I mean Like you said about the the transfer portal, obviously Sam Labitt was a was at ⁓ Arizona State last year. Honestly it it didn't feel like a homegrown LSU team, right? Like brand new coach, brand new quarterback off the back of, you know, NIL deals and whatnot. But I mean, it's kinda just the state of college football at this point. ⁓ but honestly, is this the dagger? for Dallas career at Clinton. I mean this was the worst loss in his era. Was this really the worst one? Thirty one points they lost by the previous worst losses were by thirty seven points to West Virginia in twenty twelve and then Florida State in twenty thirteen. Both by thirty seven. Granted Florida State went on to win ⁓ but I don't think that makes it really much better. Not to stop you here, but ⁓ I am on the clock here for fantasy football. Best quarterback available Trevor Lawrence, Brock Purdy, Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nicks. I also have Kenneth Gainwell, Josh Jacobs, Wando Robinson, Jonathan Brooks, Mike Wilson, Marshawn Lloyd. I think I like Lloyd here. I mean Lloyd hasn't Do we go quarterback and get Trevor Lawrence? I don't hate quarterback here. I'm not sure if I don't think I like Lloyd here. I know everybody's high on him because Josh Jacobs isn't playing, but he hasn't really played football. Yeah, thirty seconds. Who are the quarterbacks? Lawrence. Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy, Bo Nicks, Kyler Murray, Tyler Shout Shuk. Do you hate a Mahomes here? I think I don't need a Mahomes here. What do you want? I'm gonna I'm gonna go Michael Wilson. Yeah. Let's build let's build the bench. We just talked about him getting an extension. I don't hate a Michael Wilson. I drafted him I've him in two I leagues. I think we just talked about him getting an extension, so I think it's it's worth worth taking. It's fitting. It's fitting. But Yeah, no, that's crazy if that's Dablosweeney's worst loss is forty one points. ⁓ ⁓ they'll have a good season in the ACC, but however it's just that's that's a tough one. ⁓ and back up again. Let's take a let's take a Marshawn Lloyd. Let's just go ahead and fill around it anymore. I don't hate that there. But they had eight first downs. That's the fewest they've had since two thousand six. I mean, like you you were saying there they might he might rally the troops. I'm not sure there's troops to rally. I'm not sure there's troops to be rallied. Yeah, and I've always this could be it. I've always respected Dabo for how like the whole NIL thing, it's changing the college landscape. He's been like the one stronghold of like staying strong, growing players, homegrown. Like you're just talking about the LSU team. Like that didn't really feel like an LSU team. They kinda all from different spots, they all transferred in. Dabo's been very big, big ⁓ component of like the, you know, we're gonna bring guys here, we're gonna grow ⁓ for four years and make them just good football players or good men and move on. Now we're kind of seeing like that isn't really working anymore, especially when you have such a bad loss to LSU. Now probably just LSU might have been just charged up and Lane Kiffin, like it might have just been a just a unstoppable force coming and there was nothing you could do. But like to lose that badly, like you could have done and scored a little bit more. I don't know. But it it seems like this could be like either Dabo's gonna have to get with the program of NIL or he's gonna be shoved out the door, kinda like how Oklahoma State did with ⁓ who was their longtime head coach. Mike Gundy, yeah. I mean, even ⁓ I mean Lake and after the game said that LSU's scout team scored more than Clemson did, and he was just super surprised that Clemson didn't score more points. Yeah, Lane Kiffon almost seemed like pissed off that he the game wasn't as close as he was hoping it would be. I did see the jump shot though. He did miss the shot. He did miss the shot. He did miss the shot. Football coach, not a basketball player. The fact that he's taking jump shots on the sideline, that's a good sign. He was heat checking. He was a heat check. But I mean, dude, it end of a fucking era, obviously. I mean Clemson is just one used to be one of the those bona fide stud teams every single year. Right. Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson. Right. Like Derandre Hopkins. I know. But like Clemson was I saw the I saw the fun I saw the fun fact against Clemson that they were the last team that wasn't in the Big Ten or SEC to win the national championship. Yeah, I I think it's just time to it's yeah. And I mean it off they're trying to get a cover on NIL stuff, but yeah. It's either get with it or you're gonna be struggling. Especially with like Miami. Miami's gonna obvious they're not afraid to To pay players, obviously. So if you want to compete, you gotta do the same thing. Yeah. Speaking of struggling a little bit, Matt, let's get into the next college football game here. The next biggest headline, and probably where I will spend the most of my time just roasting a fan base. Mm-hmm. Michigan. Everyone saw the Michigan game. If you were watching the LSU game, I clicked off the LSU game and just went over to Michigan and Western Michigan. And boy, was it a close game. I think Western Michigan scored. I think there was like 30 seconds left. They were up. They were They were possibly about to win. And then they did win. Like the ⁓ Michigan tries for a Hail Mary, time expires, boom, right? Game's over. Hail Mary fails. Not so fast, my friend. Is that what Lee Corso says? Not so fast, my friend. The officials found one extra second to put back on the game clock. Michigan then runs another Hail Mary, and I'm sure everyone's seen if you have any type of social media, you saw this. They end up completing the Hell Mary and winning the game off a walk off. I think the final score was thirteen to twelve. Real tough one there against Western Michigan. But it wasn't that that pissed me off. Everyone's mad about the whole one second back on the clock. I saw the Big Ten come out and show like their replay center, which I respect. However, you know, it didn't match up with what the TV was showing. I'm mad that the Michigan fans then went after the Hell Mary and stormed the field against a Mac opponent. Like, buddy, you were picked to win by thirty and we're storming the field against a Mac ten ⁓ Mac ten team in western Michigan. What are we doing? I just and Michigan's defense there's never been that team in any league ever to lose a game and then win it. Yeah, well I saw the the win probability was down to zero because the they thought the game was over. Correct, 'cause they lost the game and then I'm doing it. I think I've talked about on the podcast before, especially last year when people were storming the field. Like, to have a good field storming, you have to beat an opponent that is ranked higher than you at home. And it normally I like to say it has to be like a top ten opponent. I know there's been some people that, you know, if you're ranked in the top twenty five to be a top ten opponent, they'll storm the field then too. What are we doing, dude? That's just that is probably the I think that's the first official field storming of the year too, and it's the worst one possible. Like, to be a Powerhouse like even the announcer said it's like you don't normally see a powerhouse team like Michigan storming the field against a a Matt team like Western Michigan. But I guess especially with how the game ended. Like you lost the game. You got gifted another play. I know Hail Mary is incredibly hard to like you know, complete. But I mean they did do that in their defense. Was it Hail Mary when Right. shout out to their coach. He might have been the only one only one with his head on right, Kyle Winningham. He was like, Hey guys, they were they were doing the ⁓ post game conference with him. He's like, Listen, there wasn't a lot of good football out there, but thank God we won luckily. Like he understood like we didn't deserve to win that game and we shouldn't really be storming the field about it. But yeah, I thought that was absolute I'm j it just kinda made me kinda pissed me off about So I mean Michigan was three for ten on third down and had three turnovers. Also had nine penalties for eighty yards. I mean you usually you're not gonna win a game with their sets. Yeah. Also I'm about to be back up in fantasy football, but ⁓ unless you're gifted another second. What's up? Unless you're gifted another second. Yeah. Now that was Honestly, I was kind of pissed when they put the second back on, but in the Big Ten came out and said, 'cause I've I've worked within stadiums before. The game clock of what the officials are actually going off of and the T V clock are not like I think they there's even like a thing that says like the the T V clock isn't the end all be all ESPN or whoever just puts that up there just so that the fans can follow it home. But the official clock and it was like something with the player that touched it. He was out of bounds, and then once he touched the football, he grabbed it. But then people were saying, Well, he still has to come back to the He still has to come back to the ground before the clock stops, but it's just all very just interesting stuff there. I just was not a fan of of what Mr. Honestly started his jump when he was out of bounds, if his feet were out bounds. I guess it's different. Yeah. ⁓ Matt and back up. Should I go Trevor Lawrence here, Josh Downs, or a tight end? Jake Ferguson's still out there. We're in round eleven. I think at this point, wait on tight end. No, you think we go get Trevor Lawrence? We can double up and get Mahomes. I just don't know if Mahomes is gonna start. Correct. I wouldn't hate Trevor Lawrence here. I'll go with Trevor Lawrence. We'll come back. We'll get Mahomes later. Yeah, it works out. Speaking about a team that should have rushed the field, University of Massachusetts defeated Rutgers thirty seven twenty one. EMass was twenty nine and half point underdogs. That their first win versus a power conference opponent since November of nineteen seventy eight. That's a they hadn't won a game in six hundred and seventy seven days. That was their first win against an FBS school since twenty twenty three. Holy shit. We were talking about a team that has every right to rush the field. It was Were you at Rutgers though? Yes. I think so. So like maybe like the ten UMass fans that were there should have just gone and stormed the field. The seven the seven UMass fans should have rushed the field. The seven UMass fans that have stuck with them since they've won a game in six hundred and seventy seven days. The seven minute minute men. That's i is that over two years? Let me do the math. Three s no, it's not over two years. Two years would be like seven hundred and thirty days or something. I mean six hundred and seventy seven that accounts for the days. that football wasn't going on. But still six hundred and seventy seven days is a fucking long time. I didn't realize it was that one I heard people talk I didn't okay, so I didn't watch this game 'cause I just figured it'd be a blowout. I didn't realize it wasn't blowout. And the other way. Yeah. No, I just heard people talking about it. I didn't realize it was like UMass was that bad. I knew they were bad, but I didn't know they were like didn't know what hadn't won a game since twenty twenty three. The Minute Man dude? I love apparently they're not college football. That's what saying, man. Like again, I know Rutgers isn't a fucking stud school for football. Like losing by sixteen to UMass, that's tough. When you're like a thirty point favorite. We take Jake Ferguson or Josh Downs. I think everyone's I would wait. What other tight ends are there? Mark Andrews. He's more than Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews, Dalton Kincaid. Juan Johnson, Hunter Henry, TJ Hawkins, Dank Ferguson. All right, that's what I like. That pretty much gives me 'cause then we'll come back and get some we'll get some more depth. Ferguson is a dog. Yeah. He's more depth. All right. So with that, we will kind of get into kind of our final segment here of the podcast. I don't know how long this episode will be. Normally me, Matt. Depending on how long this next segment goes, it could be we'll be right at our time for everything. But our next one here will lead us into also our final segment. So getting into college football, Matt, we have a big game this week. Probably the biggest game. Texas taking on Ohio State. It's a rematch here. Saturday, six thirty PM on ABC. Texas is a one and a half point favorite. However, Ohio State is the number one team in the country. Texas, I believe, is ranked five. Probably will change after some more rankings come out. They might move up, might move down. They did beat Texas State pretty handily. House State beat Ball State pretty handily. But if anyone remembers last year, this game was an absolute barn burner. Texas lost as a one seed fourteen to seven at Ohio State. It was Arch Manning's like first start in the in college football. Well yeah I think it was his first start. Struggled immensely. And so now people are wondering is Arch Manning gonna get his revenge? Now that Ohio State's coming down to Austin this week. And now the table's reversed, Ohio State is the number one seed. And Texas was the number one seed last year. Yeah, I did see ⁓ I know they played Texas State yesterday. Texas did. Yeah. But even Danilofsky, I was listening to him, I think, today or last night or something. Talking about ⁓ Arch Manning in general, like his processing is Much better this year. He's a lot slower. He's a lot slower. He's not making throws like on a whim. Right. He's like setting his feet. He's going through the the whole mo the whole, you know the whole motion and his passes are a lot more accurate this year. He's got motion. He's got motion. He's got the whole the whole shebang, apparently. Yeah. Says Mr. Olovsky. Who I respect. So I mean You know, we'll see. I think it's gonna be completely a different game, obviously. I mean, they do have Cam Coleman. The new receiver coming in out of from Auburn, new transfer. Yeah, so I d I do have something here. Cam Coleman. Yeah, wide receiver. Everyone knows for Texas. He might be confused about where the game's at. So he said tell Ohio State that we coming. And I don't think he realizes the game's in Austin. Obviously, I think that's like a a s a thing to Dion Sanders whenever he last year he was saying, You better give me now 'cause we comin' or something. So I you know, we comin' to Austin to our home to our home stadium. They're coming from their dorm room Yeah. To the field. I think he's getting ready to he might show up at at Ohio State and be like, let's you ready to play this game And they'll camp. We're back in Austin. I think the quote was taken out of context by me. Sorry. Sorry, Cam Coleman. I'm sure you'll have a great game against Ohio State. But yeah, Matt, ⁓ who do we got in this game? Ohio State or Texas? Should do that's a tough for Archman. I I wanna go Texas. I'd like Arch Manning. I want him to do well, but Julian Saiyan, Jeremiah Smith. Give me Texas. You're taking Texas? Give me the actually. I think I agree with you just because I'm gonna say since Texas lost as a one seed on the road last year, I'm gonna say Ohio State leaves on the loses as a one seed coming into Texas this year. Things just should be flip flop. Yeah, I mean second game of the season, but playoff implications already. Yeah. Obviously. These are two playoff solidified teams. Like these two teams are most likely. Last year it had the it had the playoff complications. Texas missed out last year. Yeah. I it'll be different this year. Yeah, and then moving on to the the other qu the other ⁓ before we get into that, man back on the board. I'm taking Deshaun stribbling. Please. Let's get some let's get some wide receiver depth. Brock Purdy has to throw the ball to somebody. You want to talk about some sleepers? Somebody who's immune to the ⁓ the ⁓ substation effect. Zong stribbling. Shout out, old mess. Kind of Ole Miss. That was a great game too. Great game. That was a great game against Louisville. I think I talked about it as like I thought that was like the best game la last week. ⁓ Baylor Auburn was also good. But man, that Ole Miss and Louisville game, that was good. I mean, I wanted to ask this. Do you think Louisville drops out of the top twenty five? They were numbered numbered twenty four seed playing against a, I think, nine seed in Ole Miss. Right there. Barely lost to him. I don't think you dropped him out. You think they dropped? Yes. I don't think they should be punished because they lost on a game winning field goal. It's the first game of the season, they're out. Yeah, but let's say you win a game and then maybe you will bring it back. I just hate teams that get punished like you're the twenty-fourth seed taking on a nine seed and you barely lose to the nine seed. If you drop them out, you better drop old miss down for losing for winning that close against twenty-fourth seed. I don't think you get punished for winning on the first game of the season. Taking Bo Nicks as my backup quarterback, by the way. We're not doing that already. Surely we're not taking surely not. We shouldn't take backup. ⁓ now. We got Ravens defense, Eagles defense, Browns. Taking defense? Yeah, I got defense kicker or one more spot. Yeah, small ass team? Small ass roster? Who's that? Seven bench spots. I'm taking both. Well they haven't drafted that many players. Yes, I have. I this is sixteen team roster. I'll go through it at the end. I'll go through my my team at the end. We're almost done. We're almost done. But yeah, that old miss game, that was a great game. Moving on to another great game that's happening this weekend that I think a lot of people are focused on Texas Ohio State. We have another ranked matchup, which is going to be earlier at eleven A. ⁓ on Fox is number 10 Oklahoma going to You could say number sixteen seed Michigan. Or you could say little brother storming the field Michigan, taking them on. If if Michigan wins this game and they don't storm the field, I'm gonna be like, what are we doing? This is a this is a game you could storm. Top ten opponent. This is a game I put money on Oklahoma. Yeah, Oklahoma is a five and a half point favorite in this game. Yeah. And I'm rooting for Oklahoma, dude. Michigan. Michigan's already like my my op this year. Absolutely. I'm I'm putting my flag in the ground of Michigan hater this year. Shout out Baker Mayfield. Yeah, shout out Baker Mayfield. Speaking of OU. Speaking of OU, yeah, there we go. I'm I'm Baker Mayfield for against Michigan. I like OU. Yeah. So also because Bryce Underwood was committed to L S U and then he switched to Michigan for like five million dollars or something like that. It's all about the money. And now he gets to beat Western Michigan by one point on a a gift. If we got a gift from the from the from the ⁓ from the officials. All right, Matt. Moving in, let's close out the show here.
