- 0:02Speaker 1: time and dap the breset button. Now.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Now back to the Mark Simon Show on wor.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Well, let's tax some calls. Let's go to Diane in Illinois. Diane,
- 0:15Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I'm doing good, Mark, good morning.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Hey.
- 0:19Speaker 3: You know, I was looking at the price tag that Obama.
- 0:21Speaker 3: You his basketball court three hundred and seventy six million,
- 0:26Speaker 3: and that's just a basketball court. Trump is building a
- 0:28Speaker 3: nine hundred seat ballroom for three hundred million. What would
- 0:32Speaker 3: Obama's basketball court? What would that translate into money wise
- 0:36Speaker 3: in the year twenty twenty five?
- 0:37Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 0:37Speaker 1: No, Trump is always pointing that out. When the government
- 0:40Speaker 1: builds a building like that new terminal at LaGuardia twenty
- 0:43Speaker 1: four billion private sector, if they had done it eight
- 0:47Speaker 1: hundred million, they just overspent. Like Trump said in the
- 0:52Speaker 1: they said how much would a wall cost on the
- 0:54Speaker 1: border and he said whatever, he said, one two billion,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and he pointed to the senator, twelve billion. If these
- 1:00Speaker 1: guys did it. Yeah, Obama spent three hundred and eighty
- 1:04Speaker 1: million to build a basketball court, and Trump did it.
- 1:07Speaker 3: But I guess, but in my what would three hundred
- 1:10Speaker 3: and seventy six million transplate into dollars in twenty twenty five.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Probably four hundred and fifty million, so like half a
- 1:17Speaker 1: billion dollars to build a basketball court. Thanks for calling, Diane.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You know it's the same thing. This is all started
- 1:22Speaker 1: a million years ago with the woman rink. Remember of
- 1:25Speaker 1: the woman rink. The city was up till like twenty
- 1:28Speaker 1: five million. This is back in the eighties. That's like
- 1:31Speaker 1: one hundred million today. So and it went on for years,
- 1:35Speaker 1: and Trump finally spoke out public He said, it's just
- 1:37Speaker 1: a slab of concrete. It doesn't cost anything. He got
- 1:40Speaker 1: no fight with Koch and Trump said I'll build it
- 1:43Speaker 1: in a few weeks for a few hundred thousand, I'll
- 1:46Speaker 1: pay for it. And then Kotch called his bluff and
- 1:49Speaker 1: he did it. That's the difference between government doing something
- 1:52Speaker 1: in the private sector. Let's go to Christine and Long Island. Christine,
- 1:56Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Wait a minute, I've listened to you for decades.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, Well, I hope you were taking time
- 2:04Speaker 1: out for meals and everything.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Yes, okay. My question is this, and what has Joran
- 2:12Speaker 5: Mandami's done as an assemblyman? He was in for five years.
- 2:17Speaker 5: I believe, and months ago. I heard that he posed
- 2:21Speaker 5: one bill, but I don't know if it ever passed.
- 2:24Speaker 1: No, he did nothing there, but that's not unusual most
- 2:27Speaker 1: of these Assembly people. It's like part time work for them.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They show up once in a while, most of them
- 2:31Speaker 1: don't do or anything.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Voters picked this up last month. A voter called in
- 2:36Speaker 5: from Idaho, saying, what has this man done? Nobody talks
- 2:40Speaker 5: about what has he actually done?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Well, imagine if you had actual, actual media instead of biased,
- 2:47Speaker 1: corrupt media, they would be covering this constantly. Where are
- 2:50Speaker 1: you in Long Island.
- 2:52Speaker 5: I'm in Rockville Center.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Oh, you're going to vote for Bruce Blakeman.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I hope absolutely?
- 2:58Speaker 1: All right? And A Donnelly's running for DA. Bruce Blakeman
- 3:01Speaker 1: the best county executive in America. Make sure you vote
- 3:03Speaker 1: for him. Let's go to Denise and Staten Island. Denise,
- 3:06Speaker 1: how you're doing.
- 3:08Speaker 6: Holly, Good morning, Mark, How are you good?
- 3:12Speaker 7: I wanted to ask you if you could point out
- 3:14Speaker 7: that at last night's debate. First of all, I'm a
- 3:17Speaker 7: big supporter of Courtislila and I will be early voting
- 3:20Speaker 7: for him Saturday morning. I'm on the South Shore area
- 3:23Speaker 7: of Staten Island. But I'd like you to point out
- 3:26Speaker 7: sometime today, if you could one point that Curtis Sliwa
- 3:30Speaker 7: made last night and the room fell silent, and the.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Other two Just what's that point.
- 3:39Speaker 6: He's mentioned how billions were coming into New York are
- 3:43Speaker 6: being paid for legal immigrants. Well, every day New York
- 3:47Speaker 6: citizens were sufferings financially.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Once he's made that point, everybody makes that point all
- 3:52Speaker 1: the time, all that money wasted on the illegals that
- 3:55Speaker 1: could have been taken care of New Yorkers. Let's go
- 3:57Speaker 1: to Mike in New Jersey. Mike, how you're doing Mark,
- 4:01Speaker 1: how you doing good?
- 4:03Speaker 4: Good? I'll tell you the thing like this, Curtis is
- 4:05Speaker 4: probably the best carrying we've had in a very long time.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Is a man that's spent decades of his life fighting crime.
- 4:12Speaker 4: You know, he volunteered to do that. And he also
- 4:14Speaker 4: said the homeless, he dealt with a lot of crazy people.
- 4:17Speaker 4: He very dedicated, selfless individual, and he has he's articulate,
- 4:21Speaker 4: he has ideas.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Familiar We're familiar with Curtis.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I get it. So if in the end of the
- 4:27Speaker 4: day they want to blame Curtis, if God forbid, this
- 4:29Speaker 4: guy's are on wins wins. This is a societal issue.
- 4:33Speaker 4: There's not Curtis Lee was problems.
- 4:35Speaker 1: No, Curtis belongs in the race. Everything you said is correct.
- 4:39Speaker 1: If you want to blame somebody, blame Cuomo. What the
- 4:41Speaker 1: hell is he doing in this race? Why did he
- 4:43Speaker 1: even show up for this Curtis everything you just said
- 4:47Speaker 1: is correct. And Clomos never even lived in New York City.
- 4:51Speaker 1: He's from the suburbs. You know, every mayor who's run
- 4:54Speaker 1: for mayor of New York lives in New York City.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Is the first time we've ever had a mayor who
- 4:58Speaker 1: spent his entire adult life not living in New York City,
- 5:00Speaker 1: living in the suburbs. We've had mayors born out of town,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you know. Mike Bloomberg was from Massachusetts, David Dinkins grew
- 5:08Speaker 1: up in New Jersey, but they all lived in New
- 5:10Speaker 1: York City their entire adult life. One more real face,
- 5:13Speaker 1: Let's go to Katie and Chappaqua. Katie, how you doing, Hi?
- 5:18Speaker 2: Mark? I have a comment about the debate, and then
- 5:21Speaker 2: I have a question. So I watched it online and
- 5:25Speaker 2: you know, on the side there's chat comments and there
- 5:29Speaker 2: it was really fun. I mean almost There was lots
- 5:31Speaker 2: and lots of support for Curtis and mostly criticism for
- 5:35Speaker 2: Cuomo and Mandani. And then I wanted to ask you, like,
- 5:40Speaker 2: how in the world could it be asking Curtis to
- 5:42Speaker 2: drop out when he's the only Republican and he's against
- 5:45Speaker 2: two Democrats.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know, most people are not asking him
- 5:48Speaker 1: to be out. That Trump has recruited some of these
- 5:50Speaker 1: public figures, some billionaires like Bill Ackman to be all
- 5:54Speaker 1: over the airwaves telling Curtis to drop out, But if
- 5:58Speaker 1: you talk to actual voters, they're not. They don't want
- 6:00Speaker 1: Curtis to drop out.
- 6:01Speaker 4: You can't.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You can't have a major party candidate dropout. They had
- 6:04Speaker 1: Cuomo not been in the race, it would have been
- 6:06Speaker 1: a whole different story. Cuomo is like a third party
- 6:08Speaker 1: candidate who just showed up here because he had nowhere
- 6:11Speaker 1: else to go. But you gotta give him credit. He
- 6:13Speaker 1: had a good debate last night. He was strong in
- 6:15Speaker 1: that debate last night. Hey, when we come back, Steve
- 6:18Speaker 1: Moore will be with us. We hope we'll see No.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I want to talk to him. A lot of big
- 6:26Speaker 1: economic things to talk. We'll get to that next on
- 6:29Speaker 1: seven to ten. Wor
