- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans welcome in to Dove All Daily presented by gymjag.com and fueled by brass tack coffee right now.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: We are talking Jaguars and Panthers.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Joint practices, Jaguars got the Panthers coming in town tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19th.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have practice over the Miller Electric Center.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: joint practice.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to do one joint practice with the Panthers here in Jacksonville, getting ready for their preseason week two matchup on Friday evening, 730 p.m. at the bank.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the bank is going to be open Friday night.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of construction going on around the stadium, all that stuff getting ready for the stadium in the future that's going to open in 2028.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, absolutely.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think that you look at
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: this as a big opportunity in the joint practice.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Both teams are talking about having starters play Friday night.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into that a little bit too, but overall this is going to be focused on what I'm looking for in the joint practices.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: I really appreciate you all tuning in.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content here, all jacks, all the time, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: This will actually be my first joint practice that I'm able to attend a couple of years ago.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was last year.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to remember now.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think I was in Tampa while the Buccaneers were here.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that was last year.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: I was in Tampa while the Bucs were here.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: I was down there for a concert and then I
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: year before that.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like families always trying to schedule stuff during training camp, but I'll actually be there tomorrow.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be there next week too when the books come to town, which is exciting.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so it should just be like a heightened environment, a heightened sense of urgency between these two teams compared to what it is for a normal practice.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I am just like personally excited to be around that practice has currently scheduled from
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: That is not right.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: 9.30 to 11.15, excuse me.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it's scheduled for, you know, about our 45 and you would expect some of that to be individual drills stuff like that and then a good chunk of, you know, jacks ones versus saints ones on both offense and defense.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: So that's really good.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm going to be looking at a good bit.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you know, welcome home,
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: decided to let him go in for agency and obviously they're projected to get a compensatory pickback for Devin Lloyd, Panthers signed him to a big deal, but he'll be a key figure for the Panthers on the defensive side of the ball and it'll be fun just kind of to see him out there and obviously having gotten to see him on the practice field in Jacksonville this year.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Also Luke Fortner, welcome back!
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Luke Fortner, former Jaguar's draft pick, third round pick, and what?
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Same draft class as Trayvon, what?
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: 22?
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanks.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, Guy that obviously has familiarity with this organization, with this coaching staff, Jaguar's traded him to the Saints right after they played the Saints last year.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's something you've always got to keep your head on a swivel.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: So they're potentially going to be a trade right after you play a team.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think the jacks also did that with picking up Carter Bradley for their practice squad last year.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, anyways, Luke Fortner coming back, Devon Lloyd coming back.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: another one who under the radar, Elijah Cooks coming back to Jacksonville, former, you know, undrada free agent, a player who I really like and I think that he has a chance at some point to make a roster in the league and hopefully be a contributor I've always liked his game.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: kind of a funny connection here with Liam Cohen and Dave Canales, both of these guys back to back years, Brad Buck and ears losing their offensive coordinators.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't coach together in Tampa, but they were both offensive coordinators.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: They got pushed to be had coaches, and I think Tampa could be looking at it now and being like,
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: which you had either of those guys, honestly, but neither here nor there at this point.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: For the Jack Wars and this one, looking at their offense, I think their obvious concerns here would like can the offensive line function to the point where Trevor Lawrence and the passing offense can get some good work in?
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's my question here for the Jacks.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously, in joint practice, even if you're not
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: even if there would be a sack, usually you're gonna have the opportunity to get the ball off still and so you can get some work in that way, but you want the offensive line to hold up a little bit better than they did, I think, against the Saints certainly and against the Saints, you know, Chase Young seemed like he feasted, I didn't get to see every play in the joint practice, but you want it to look a little bit better than that, you're not going to have Cole Van Lannon, you're not going to have Patrick McCary, you're not going to have
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to probably have Tuma Doga, it doesn't look like I mean that is a bunch of names that you would like to have out there so can some combination of Anton Harrison who will be at Left Tackle, Emmanuel Pregnant, Robert Hainesy who will be at Center, Ezra Cleveland, Jonah Monheim, and presumably like Walker Little because he was back for team today.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: Can they do well enough against
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: A defensive front that has Derek Brown, J.L.M.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Phillips, friends, L.U.W.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: on me, Ellen, and some more guys that have some talent, obviously, no nicks, Gordon, he unfortunately got injured, like at the very beginning of camp for them.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: But that's my biggest question here.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Can you do that in the joint practice?
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then if you're trying to play starters in this game, can you protect Trevor Lawrence from this defensive front?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you can't, if you're not confident you can, which I don't know how confident I am,
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: I would not have him out there in a game where he could get hit.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I really wouldn't want to have to do that.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: And again, you don't have to do that right now.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: If you get to week one and you can't Colby and Lannon's not ready to play right tackle, you've got to play him.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to play Trevor Lawrence.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: You got to put him out there.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's a game that means something.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: But a game that means nothing.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: You have to put them out there with walker little at right tackle.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying, I don't know, it's an interesting interesting situation.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, hopefully it looks all right in the joint practices with that offensive line.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: And you can move forward.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: I really am not nervous about any of that that I just talked about outside of walker little.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: He just has not been very good since this new regime arrived.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the deal is there.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, okay.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's been good at right guard.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: But then if he's playing right guard, who's playing right tackle?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who you also don't feel good about.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, I mean, Ezra Cleveland did a little bit of it earlier this week.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: outside of that, I don't know what you're looking.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, why am I alone would be the other option, but he's down too.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Tune with other option, but he's down too.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: No Parker Washington, which really stinks because, again, if you're talking about getting in good work against an opponent and a joint practice setting with the starters in there, or a preseason setting with the starters in there, no Parker Washington, who, you know, he's down day to day, but not gonna return until next week, that's not ideal.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you should have enough to get good work and throw in the ball to like Jacobi Myers, Brian Thomas Jr., Britain Strange, Koziel Borkacher, the rookie wide receivers are at plenty of talent, Travis Hunter, obviously.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: But I would want to look more buttoned up than I have the last couple of days.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: I would want to start faster, preseason week one, joint practice one,
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars got punched in the mouth, not literally, but figuratively by the Saints.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: The Saints came out and they put it on the Jaguars early in both the joint practice and preseason.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars had to bounce back in those settings.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Be the instigator.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Come out and play with some fire, get things going early.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: I would really like to see that, honestly.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that would be a welcome site.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: As far as Trevor Lawrence goes, I have no concerns about what he's going to be when the regular season comes along.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: As long as he's got some mildly decent protection.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I wouldn't like to see him bounce back from the last few days.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's been throwing some picks lately.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't been super sharp.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: The last three practices I feel like going back to the joint practice with the Saints.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: It is still just practice.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about it.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I would like to see some good vibes get going with the offensive side of the ball because the defense has been handled in their business overall.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like the offense is struggling a little bit.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: Gonna go grab Murray.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, she runs away.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Runs away from the door that she's trying to get into.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: Got a love dogs, man.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Got to love the dogs.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Messing up in my camera.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'm going to leave that in there just, you know.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: just for y'all who tune in all the time.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know you love Murray.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, it is still just joint practice, but I think a goal should be to start faster.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, do.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and now she comes in.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, Miss Murray.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you missed earlier, joint practice or the training camp practice recap, no liquid Allen as well.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: He has a soft tissue.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: soft tissue issue going on injury.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be out for the remainder of training camp according to the Jaguars, but I think you have plenty of backs to challenge the Panthers between Basial Tut and Chris Rodriguez and Jamari Taylor, who I'm really impressed with right now.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, a mirror of dual and DJ Dallas.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: To me, they have an average run defense.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: at least that's what they were last year.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: You need to get it poppin.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I think Devin will he does upgrade their run defense, having Derek Brown out there.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's always a good run defender and I think that Jaylem Phillips is a good run defender as well.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I would like to
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: to see them run the ball and get after it a little bit in that or we'll be watching for that.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jaguars as I've told y'all, they're currently three and a half point home favorites over the Panthers this week over at my bookie.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm waiting to see how things shake out before I make a decision on that, but I will tell you this.

- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: I just mentioned how the
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Panthers run defense, I got so many notifications going on here.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's driving me crazy.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: But Panthers run defense pretty average last year.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's run defense, they've been anything but average.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: They've been the best and football since I think they can't believe they got here.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Best and football.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that's continued into training camp practices this year.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Joint practices and preseason against the Saints.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is dominated the Saints against the run.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: It should not be a problem to keep that going.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: with with with the panthers like you there's some talent in the backfield there's two-bohub bird and and some others I'd be a little bit more nervous if we go doubtal was back there I think that we go doubtal super underrated you went over to the Steelers but
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: It should be no problem keeping it going against the Panthers.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Get that run defense fired up and that should allow you to potentially make some more plays on the back end.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: They've got some tough guys in the middle.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: The Panthers do on the offensive line.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about Robert Hunt and Damian Lewis, Luke Ford and her at Center.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't necessarily be calling him one of the big tough guys, but the two guards, they can move you a little bit.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: They've got to banged up offensive line.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the Jaguars run defense can set the tone, and that can really help for potentially allowing your stars on the back end, your top talents on the back end.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know if you'll see Jordan Lewis, but a Travis Hunter, a Buster Brown, a Jarian Jones, maybe one of your safeties, maybe Jubarman Muhammad, to go make a play on the football.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: Get for some turnovers, things like that.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: they're going to have their hands full a little bit on the back end with uh... uh... uh... federal McMillan team act and jail and cokers are really good player to Xavier let get as a lot of talent
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: it's not going to be easy going up against these these Panthers receivers they've got some legitimate skill here especially Teterome McMillan I think his his length could really cause problems the Panthers did just sign there and wallet but he's not going to be up for joint practices I don't think at least in the team portion of things so you won't have to worry about him
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: his length and everything he brings, but I do think Team Mac is going to be a tough matchup.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Travis Hunter has played him in college, had some back and forth matchups there a couple times, but I think he's a type of receiver.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have just struggled with since the beginning of last year.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: Legitimates, like number one,
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: talent-wide receivers have given the Jaguar's absolute fits.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can they do a better job of handling that during the joint practice and then early on in the preseason game, too?
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be something I'm watching for for sure tomorrow.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: As we get this thing kicked off, I mentioned Jabar Muhammad.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: Can he have a practice that builds off of what he did today?
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: He had a great practice today.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, intercepted Trevor Lawrence, multiple passbreakups, multiple times where he's just there and blanket cover, it's not allowing or it's he would catch a football.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's competing, I think, unless something radically changed, he's gonna be on the roster, but he's competing to potentially have a role.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a little up and down when, well, he was a little up and down when it came to the Saints.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: up and down practice against the Saints and then also an up and down game against the Saints.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: bounce back this week so far with really good practices, especially today, was unbelievable.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can he be a little bit more steady this week, both in the joint practice and in the game?
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: That would be huge for him.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think it'll be interesting.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: See, Branson, Holmes, and Ventura Miller still getting and after it, Devon Lloyd obviously gone on the other sideline now, but I think that these two guys are gonna be great to weaponize in this defense and I think that
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: the more and more you see them, the more and more you see that kind of situational usage.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're going to continue to see that, but I'm excited to see what both of them can do out there.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be a little interesting, I think, to see like a Kyle Trask, no Haines King, but Kyle Trask is a player at back up quarterback.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't mentioned Bryce Young, but you know, Bryce Young, former first overall pick, a little diminutive little small,
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the Jaguars can get after him pretty good up front.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to see that with Trayvon and Josh Hines Allen and obviously BJ Green and the list goes on with the Jaguars defensive line, but we'll be interesting to see like another backup quarterback on the field while the Jaguars current number two quarterback.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Mullins don't know if he's going to be playing or not, but he's a guy that is much maligned in Jacksonville.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people would like the Jaguars to have a different backup.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're interesting to see some other backups on the field and see how that kind of looks.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I just want to smart aggressive team out there.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: compete from the jump.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: Don't take the first punch.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: Don't like have to pick yourself up off the mat, punch first, strike first, get after it, have a good practice, and carry that over into preseason week two.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all be in here.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe y'all for going.
