- 0:01Hey there, here we are with another episode on She Speaks
- 0:04Life. And man am I excited about this
- 0:07one. Today I have with me President
- 0:09of All God's Children International Holland Fraser.
- 0:13I love and support this awesome organization that is an orphan
- 0:18care ministry dedicated to answering God's call found in
- 0:22James 1:27 to look after the orphans and widows and their
- 0:27distress. All God's Children empowers
- 0:29local leaders to intervene for the millions of children
- 0:32currently living in institutions and create more paths to faith,
- 0:37family and independence. They provide child sponsorship,
- 0:41domestic and international adoption, and ways to even place
- 0:45a child back with their family, if possible, in a healed and
- 0:49healthy environment. In today's episode here, Holland
- 0:54shares with us about how all God's children began and how God
- 0:59brought her into his plan to see his children cared for.
- 1:03She talks about her biggest trials and how God has seen her
- 1:07through each one with his faithfulness and goodness.
- 1:11And she has many faith stories to share in this conversation,
- 1:15including my favorite one about a young lady named Bella.
- 1:19Two that I extremely got touched by.
- 1:22And I know you will be too. So let's dive into my
- 1:26conversation with Holland. Fraser.
- 1:30Hi, Holland. I am so happy you are here with
- 1:33us today. Thank you for coming on here.
- 1:36Oh my gosh. Thank you so much, Jamie, for
- 1:39having me. I'm excited to be with you this
- 1:41morning. Yes, I love your message.
- 1:45I love the organization, the ministry that you have, All
- 1:50God's Children International that goes out there and cares
- 1:55for the widows and the orphans. And so before we dive into your
- 2:01inspired story here, I would love for you to share with us a
- 2:05favorite scripture. Reverse.
- 2:07Well, definitely my favorite is Jeremiah 2911.
- 2:12For I know the plans I have for you.
- 2:14Declares the Lord Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.
- 2:18Plans to give you a hope and a future.
- 2:21And that is just a favorite of mine, not only for my personal
- 2:24life as I can just see God's plan over the years and how it's
- 2:29unfolded, but also being rooted in that scripture and knowing he
- 2:33has a plan for every child, every family, and we can trust
- 2:39him for that. And when we do, He gives us that
- 2:42hope in the future. Yeah, he sure does.
- 2:45I know that's one of my favorites.
- 2:46Is my daughter's life first, too, So we speak that out.
- 2:50A lot in our. Household It's so reassuring and
- 2:55love that promise of his. And I had the privilege to go to
- 3:00your recent charity that you had in downtown Austin for all God's
- 3:05Children International and I think this is the third year
- 3:10we've gone and I just love what you are doing, you and your.
- 3:14Team and everyone that supports this organization.
- 3:19It's so important you know and and James 127 even says that
- 3:24what's pure and genuine in the sight of the Lord is to care for
- 3:30the orphans and the widows in distress and it even continues
- 3:36to say refuse to let the world corrupt you and.
- 3:40When I was looking at the scripture verse that that last
- 3:43line there refused to let the world corrupt you.
- 3:47I'm thinking, you know, if the world corrupts you, you're not a
- 3:51woman or a man of generosity. You are looking all about self
- 3:56and because in the world that is what you are doing.
- 4:01What's in it for me and when we are just.
- 4:05Loaded up with God's goodness and filled up with the fruit of
- 4:09the Holy Spirit. And we're filled with the word
- 4:12of God and we are walking with Him daily.
- 4:17We can't help but overflow and love and generosity create an us
- 4:23to care for the orphans and the widows.
- 4:26So I would love for you to start us off with.
- 4:31More about who you are and the organization of all God's
- 4:35Children International. Well, thank you.
- 4:39So I am the president at All God's Children International and
- 4:42I've been with all God's children.
- 4:45Actually, on Monday, I just celebrated my 28th year, if you
- 4:50can believe that. I kind of had to pause for a
- 4:53minute and go, wow, 28 years. But most importantly, I'm a mom
- 5:00to four amazing kids, three sons and a daughter, and we're about
- 5:05to celebrate my third son's high school graduation next month.
- 5:09So the time really does go by and have an amazing husband
- 5:14who's a pastor out here in the Pacific Northwest of a church
- 5:19and. I think we're celebrating 27
- 5:22years of marriage this month, so that's just a little bit about
- 5:27me. Awesome.
- 5:28Congratulations. We have a high schooler
- 5:31graduating next month as well. And an anniversary.
- 5:36This will be our 26th. Okay, we're we're doing the same
- 5:39life right now, yeah. Very similar.
- 5:42Very. Similar OK, share with us more
- 5:46about all God's children. So all God's children's mission
- 5:49is really we're answering God's call to provide the love and
- 5:53care that every child deserves, and we do that by empowering
- 5:57local leaders to create pathways to faith, family, and
- 6:01independence. For vulnerable children around
- 6:04the world, specifically for the millions of children that are
- 6:08languishing today in institutions and really are, you
- 6:13have a child advocacy model that really looks at the continuum of
- 6:18care of children. So first and foremost, we want
- 6:22to prevent children from ever falling out of family care, so
- 6:26we wrap resources around vulnerable families.
- 6:29And work so that we can really keep children in their homes.
- 6:34And we then look at how do we actually elevate care in
- 6:38institutions around the world so that children's brains, bodies,
- 6:43and most importantly, souls can develop as God intended them to.
- 6:48We're constantly looking at how do we place children first back
- 6:53into families. So we do a lot of reunification
- 6:56work. And then also do adoption and
- 6:59international adoption work. And then lastly, we look at the
- 7:03children that are aging out of systems and we work to prepare
- 7:07them so that they can walk into a path of independence for their
- 7:10life. So all of that work, we kind of
- 7:13wrap it around with policy because we know where all of
- 7:17that work is very individualized to the children through sound
- 7:21policy, we can have our widest reach to the most kids.
- 7:26Yeah, I mean, this is when I'm at the charity.
- 7:29You go through the structure of this and I'm blown away by how
- 7:34organized it is and how everything has its proper place
- 7:38and it's run just like clockwork.
- 7:41I mean, it's just amazing to me how well it flows and everything
- 7:48is covered, you know, from A-Z with these kids and so.
- 7:54I would love for you to share with us how did this
- 7:58organization even begin. Tell us the origin of the story.
- 8:02So all that's children was actually founded by my older
- 8:06sister Heather and my parents back in 1991.
- 8:10And when my sister was 16, she went to my parents and said I
- 8:15want to drop out of school and I want to get my GED work for a
- 8:20year and go to Bible school in Europe.
- 8:23And of course, my parents said that's not happening.
- 8:27You're going to graduate high school.
- 8:29There is not a chance we're letting you get your GED.
- 8:33And my dad haphazardly made the comment, if you can get the
- 8:37Superintendent of Portland Public Schools to tell me that's
- 8:41a good idea, that's about the chance you have of getting a
- 8:44GED. And sure enough.
- 8:47A week later, the Superintendent of Portland Public Schools was
- 8:51on the phone with my dad. And he just said to my dad, you
- 8:54know, traditional school is not for everyone.
- 8:58And I really believe your daughter has a really strong
- 9:01plan and head on her shoulders and I think you should support
- 9:04her in getting her GED. So she did.
- 9:08She got her GED. She worked for a year and at 18
- 9:13headed off to Bible school in Europe.
- 9:16And on one of her summer vacations, she called my
- 9:20parents. And I mean, this is before cell
- 9:22phones, You know, you're writing letters back and forth.
- 9:25But she had called them and said, hey, I'm not coming home.
- 9:29I want to spend the summer and I want to go to Romania and work
- 9:33in the orphanages there. And if those that can recall
- 9:37back, you know, 1990. It was war in Romania.
- 9:41Ceausescu had finally been assassinated.
- 9:44And the people, I mean there was bullets still in walls and tanks
- 9:48still in the streets. And she went and volunteered for
- 9:52two months. In orphanage #1.
- 9:55And when she did make a quick trip home before going back to
- 9:58school, she had photos of kids and there's just one little girl
- 10:03that my parents through a very long story.
- 10:06I won't share all of it today, but ended up really placing it
- 10:10on my parents hearts to adopt and Heather ended up going back
- 10:15that Christmas the little girl my parents originally had wanted
- 10:20to adopt. A week before she was leaving to
- 10:23go back to do that adoption, she had received a letter from the
- 10:27orphanage director that said if I would have received your
- 10:31letter two days earlier, I would have kept her here.
- 10:35But a family just came and she's gone.
- 10:37She was adopted to New Zealand. And so my parents just said, you
- 10:42know, we believe God called us to do this, and so we're going
- 10:45to trust them that he knows who this child's supposed to be.
- 10:50So she ended up going in at Christmas of 1990.
- 10:53And Hannah, my little sister, had just been born to her single
- 10:58mom, who was 18 years old, the same age as my sister.
- 11:03And she had had an affair with a mayor in a village.
- 11:07And so she had was literally planning to have Hannah and
- 11:10would was planning to place her in an orphanage.
- 11:13And so my sister was able to be with her and then figured out
- 11:17the adoption and came home in January of 1991.
- 11:21So because she was just so young and it was one of these the
- 11:24first kids coming out of Romania post communism a lot of news
- 11:30stories were there and my sister made the comment I would help
- 11:34anyone who wanted to help a child and from that day forward
- 11:37my parents phone started bringing off the hook and.
- 11:41They both left their careers and All God's Children was founded.
- 11:44Wow. OK, so it began with your
- 11:47family. Didn't mean necessarily.
- 11:51Maybe you were prompted to join this just because.
- 11:57So what happened with you? Well, I was 14 at the time of
- 12:02Hannah's adoption, and I will say I was the kid that said I
- 12:06will never, ever, ever. Work for all God's children.
- 12:10So I left for college at 18 to Tennessee, and I was looking at
- 12:17going into education and my now husband.
- 12:21At the time, we were dating, but he came back up here to go to
- 12:24seminary. And it just started really that
- 12:28I just needed a part time job. So I started just answering the
- 12:32phones. You know, I'm like I can, I can,
- 12:36I can do that and still go to school.
- 12:38But as God as we know does, he just kept through circumstances
- 12:45like opening a door, opening another door as I just kept
- 12:49saying yes. And you know what's interesting
- 12:52is when I look back on it. Anyone, even from a young age,
- 12:56if they ask me, what do you want to do with your life?
- 12:58Like what do you want to be? I always had the same answer and
- 13:02it was I want to be a mom, I want to be home.
- 13:05I want to be with my kids. And so through different, yeah,
- 13:10through different circumstances, just with all God's children and
- 13:14ups and downs and how life goes. Every time I tried to get home
- 13:19after having my kids, I just was not at a place where we could.
- 13:23And so, you know, today, being able to look back and just see,
- 13:28you know, what I really wanted and had planned for my life, but
- 13:31to see what God had known all along, you know, there is.
- 13:37There's, you know, not all of getting old is great, but some
- 13:41things of getting older is great.
- 13:43And one is you have a lot of years that you're able to look
- 13:46back on and just see how God has moved.
- 13:49Yeah, love those hindsights. Yep, they're great.
- 13:52Great. My goodness, yeah, it was a
- 13:57dream for me to be a mom to you and.
- 14:00I just That's a dangerous word, too.
- 14:02Never, never say never. Never.
- 14:06Ever. That's what you never said.
- 14:08Right, so. Probably the opposite of if you
- 14:12ever say it, just know he's going to U-turn you probably the
- 14:15other way. Totally.
- 14:18All right. Let's go on a detour.
- 14:21I'm sure you can see God's hand in so many places over the years
- 14:27with this organization. But maybe share with us a few
- 14:31highlights of how God has guided this organization in the last 30
- 14:35years. You know, we just had this
- 14:39timeline that we put together and it's, I love looking at it
- 14:44because the work we're doing today, I can tell you I would
- 14:48have never dreamed or imagined the significance and the impact.
- 14:52And I can't even say we are having.
- 14:55When I say it, it's like a big W of God is having around the
- 14:59world because we're just seeing his spirit move and like open
- 15:03doors that we would have never ever fathomed he would open.
- 15:07But as we look at kind of how he planted those seeds over the
- 15:11years, we can see in 1991 we started doing that permanency
- 15:16work with the adoption of Hannah.
- 15:18Where we are doing reunification in 94 is when we actually did
- 15:24our first elevated care model where we went into an
- 15:26institution and like brought elevated care into it.
- 15:30And then by 95 we did our first family preservation program, but
- 15:35from 95 to 2008. The work we're doing today just
- 15:40kind of, I wouldn't say it's stalled because we were doing
- 15:43adoption and we were still doing orphan care, but I would say it
- 15:46was flipped a lot more adoption than probably the orphan care
- 15:51side. But in 08, we ended up
- 15:53partnering with the Bulgarian government where we were able to
- 15:56sit at the table and help them rewrite their child like their
- 16:01family code, which actually dealt with how they cared for
- 16:06their kids living in institutions.
- 16:08And and then eight years after that is when we launched our
- 16:13first program for children that were aging out of the system so
- 16:17that we could prepare them for a life of independence.
- 16:21And so when I kind of look back on the work we're doing today,
- 16:25it's so neat to be able to see how God planted seeds.
- 16:29But then we had years for sometimes it honestly felt like
- 16:33we were in the desert. Like, would we make it some
- 16:36years? And you know, this ups and
- 16:38downs, but watching what he's done, since 2017, we launched
- 16:43our very first child Advocacy Center in Bogota, Colombia.
- 16:49And to see the movement that has really taken place in that
- 16:52country and now what's starting to unfold throughout Latin
- 16:55America, it's just something I would have never imagined or
- 17:01fathomed. Yeah, it's just you just sit
- 17:04there and I wonder at what God does with just your your faith
- 17:09and obedience, your little yeses.
- 17:12And he just turns it into something just so much bigger
- 17:17than who we are, you know? And.
- 17:20Yeah, it's just. Great.
- 17:22You know, we had this, I had this one meeting.
- 17:25This was in Columbia probably five years ago.
- 17:29But we had just launched, launched our child advocacy at
- 17:32the center. And you know, we're really, if
- 17:34you ever talk to our team, we're really big about breaking
- 17:37cycles. So looking at how do we break
- 17:40cycles of trauma, cycles of sin, Because we know at the root of
- 17:45this orphan crisis and why families are not stable and just
- 17:49so much pain in the world. The root, of course, is sin, but
- 17:52what comes out of that sin is generational trauma.
- 17:55And that is just being passed on and on and on.
- 17:59And we had this opportunity to do about five years ago a
- 18:04conference with the child welfare system, social workers
- 18:08in Bogota. And we're planning to do
- 18:11probably like a training for 2 to 300 staff on trauma and the
- 18:16effects of trauma and then how you can actually bring healing
- 18:20and transformation to that and. I happen to be in the country
- 18:26couple weeks before that training and a staff, our VP
- 18:29actually of international called me and said we really want to
- 18:33get some judges to this training and see if we can get the
- 18:37judicial side of the government also understanding because
- 18:40they're the ones working with the parents, we can work to
- 18:43bring healing and transformation to the kids, but the mass
- 18:46majority of those kids are going back to their families and
- 18:49they're not healthy and so. Through kind of a a long story
- 18:53that God's just intervention, I ended up getting a meeting with
- 18:58the procadoria de general of the country, who is the third in
- 19:02control of the country. And I was told, you know, come
- 19:06Friday I thought I was meeting with just a judicial judge in
- 19:10the back office and I show up to the building, the Procadoria
- 19:12building, and they took me to the top floor overlooking the
- 19:16whole city. And the Proca de Reed general
- 19:19came in. I had no idea, Jamie.
- 19:21I was not prepared. I just was inviting a few family
- 19:24court judges to a training anyway.
- 19:27But I had probably 20 minutes. He had his whole entourage with
- 19:31him, and I was able to share just our hearts in that if we're
- 19:35working to really bring lasting generational change.
- 19:39We need both the judicial side and the child welfare side
- 19:42coming together, so he said at the end of this meeting.
- 19:46You know what we're going to do. I'm not going to send some
- 19:48judges. We're going to host this
- 19:50training here at the Procaduria's office and if you
- 19:54stay after, let's have a round table to see how we can make
- 19:58lasting change here in this country.
- 20:00And sure enough 2 weeks later what we had intended to be two
- 20:04300 people. He streamed the training
- 20:07throughout the country and it reached 1600 leaders.
- 20:11He had Supreme Court justices open that conference and.
- 20:16I just share that to say when I think of like pivotal moments of
- 20:21where that's not a that's not all God's children, that's God
- 20:25just stepping into a room and like changing hearts and moving
- 20:29hearts of the right leaders at the right time.
- 20:32And really that's now laid a footprint in not only Columbia,
- 20:37but throughout Latin America on the work that we're doing to
- 20:41really bring healing to deep, deep generational trauma.
- 20:45I love it. God's intervention for sure.
- 20:49And I love the video that you guys played at the charity event
- 20:53in Austin of the woman's testimony with her daughter and
- 20:59how the mom was an alcoholic and she was abusive to the daughter.
- 21:05And just to see how all God's children stepped in to not just.
- 21:10You know place this daughter with other family.
- 21:13But to treat the mom and to and I'm sure it was.
- 21:18It looked like it was a journey. It was a process.
- 21:21It wasn't overnight fix, but the mom chose to accept Jesus and to
- 21:28get the healing that only Jesus can give.
- 21:32And then at the end of the video it shows the daughter with the
- 21:35mom and it's a healthy environment.
- 21:37It's no longer a toxic one and. So you guys not only help place,
- 21:44you know, the orphan, but you also help the families.
- 21:47If there's still a family, somebody that's related to them
- 21:52and help them with their traumas, get to the root of what
- 21:57is dysfunctional and the sin that's creating the turmoil.
- 22:02So I just love it. I mean, you guys just.
- 22:05Seemed to do it all. And so I know not every
- 22:08organization is perfect. I know, I'm sure you've gone
- 22:12through some of the biggest trials because the enemy is, you
- 22:17know, on attack when we do things for the glory of the
- 22:20Lord, no doubt about it. So could you share with us some
- 22:26of those enemy attacks and how you saw God's faithfulness get
- 22:31you guys through? Wow.
- 22:33So you know it's like there is a laundry list of them, right?
- 22:37Like I can tell you over 28 years.
- 22:40It's like where do you begin on it from both, you know and it's
- 22:43The thing is you look at all God's children and and huge ones
- 22:47like in 2011 we we just saw over a period of like five years the
- 22:54floor really come out of international adoption.
- 22:57So for the first probably 1515 to 20 years.
- 23:02Of the Ministry's life, adoption was, I would say, a primary
- 23:07component of how we funded all of the work we did around the
- 23:12world. Well, we had a period of time
- 23:14where when adoption really went from 23,000 children being
- 23:19united with with families every year.
- 23:21This last year, I want to say it's right around 1000, if that
- 23:25just gives you a picture. Of how international adoption
- 23:29has changed, but from a financial side, we just saw that
- 23:33kind of floor fall out. And so we had a period of like
- 23:37five to seven years I would say where it's like we had to in
- 23:41order to keep doing the work that God had called us to really
- 23:45change how we were talking about what we were doing.
- 23:49And it was just hard. I remember I was just, you know,
- 23:53the Board had asked me to take this role of president.
- 23:57My youngest was a year old, so just little.
- 23:59I said no three times, finally said yes.
- 24:02But then we kind of went through this desert period, and I think
- 24:07a significant moment for me was probably about three years into
- 24:12that. So we're not talking a quick I
- 24:14create a prayer and God was like, here it is.
- 24:17I mean, it was nights staying up.
- 24:20I made scripture cards. I wake up every night, just read
- 24:23script, a lot of waiting. But we had this moment where
- 24:29just an individual out of the blue called me and said, you
- 24:33don't know me and this is going to sound crazy, but the Lord has
- 24:37just been placing on my heart the last three weeks.
- 24:39I'm supposed to call you and ask you if you have a financial
- 24:42need. And you know, I've told this
- 24:45person since then that in my mind I was going don't sound
- 24:49desperate, don't sound desperate, but, you know, but I
- 24:52remember going, you know, it's been a hard quarter.
- 24:55And but anyway, after on this call, he wrote us a $70,000
- 25:01check. And at that time, I mean, it was
- 25:06just like. For me, it was significant.
- 25:09For the ministry it was significant.
- 25:11But I think what I watched happened was, you know, I had
- 25:15for so long said, I trust God. I know God has it, but I think
- 25:19he was waiting for my head and my heart to like, make that
- 25:22connection where it was there. And it's like the minute I did
- 25:27that he provided. And provided in a way that my
- 25:31work would have never accomplished, it was a complete
- 25:35stranger. And so for me, it's significant
- 25:38as even to this day, as a leader, of the importance of
- 25:42trusting God in everything. He can do it, He will do it.
- 25:47It's not always on her timing, but also from that moment
- 25:51forward, all God's children just.
- 25:54Went upward and onward And so for me, probably if I look back
- 25:58in the 32 years, it was a trial that just to God be the glory
- 26:04and how he ended up providing. But you know when you do
- 26:09ministry, I I say this to young women all the time like when you
- 26:15step into meaningful work in your life, the enemy does attack
- 26:19and where that I've seen it on. Work front and then you see it
- 26:25on home fronts. I mean, my kids have had hard
- 26:28things happen. Like you just see the enemy
- 26:31tries to, you know, take you off.
- 26:33And it's just incredible, though, to see God's
- 26:35faithfulness through it. So what do you think is next for
- 26:39you and all God's Children International?
- 26:42Well, we are right now looking at expanding that child advocacy
- 26:48model throughout Columbia. And we're really seeing doors to
- 26:52open throughout Latin America right now.
- 26:55So definitely looking to see God just continue to move in really
- 27:02big ways. You know, we have this kind of
- 27:04saying within our executive leadership team and really with
- 27:08our staff, but we want God and we want people to know the size
- 27:12of our God through the size of our vision.
- 27:15So we just are believing the Lord for.
- 27:19Miracle after miracle and we're we're watching it and you know
- 27:22we launched our second child advocacy center in Ethiopia
- 27:26about two years ago and we're looking to open our third child
- 27:30advocacy center in Asia, most likely the Philippines next
- 27:34year. And so we're just continuing to
- 27:37see just. God move but most importantly
- 27:41people's hearts change and children's hearts change.
- 27:44You know we this is just literally this week this
- 27:49happened but we have a young woman in our House of hope in
- 27:54Ethiopia. It's the reunification home that
- 27:57you saw the video on the at the the event but we we had this
- 28:04this young woman Betty. Well, I'm changing her name to
- 28:07Betty, but she her story was when she was just seven years
- 28:12old, her mom died and her dad was an alcoholic and he was
- 28:19abusing her. So at 7 years old she ran away,
- 28:23bought on a bus and landed in Adisa Baba, the capital.
- 28:28She survived 2 days on the streets.
- 28:31I mean, imagine 7-7 years old, two days on the streets before a
- 28:35woman founder brought her to the child welfare office, where they
- 28:40then placed her in the only institution that's in Addis
- 28:44Ababa. So Betty for the next nine years
- 28:49would go on to grow up in this this place.
- 28:53And it's it's not a place any of us would ever want our kids to
- 28:58be. It's for, it's for young people,
- 29:01young girls from age 6 all the way to 19.
- 29:05So if you imagine that scope, But when we went to this
- 29:10orphanage, if you just opened our House of Hope and so we went
- 29:13and asked, we said hey, are there any young girls that you
- 29:18think you could transfer to us? And we could work to help find
- 29:22their family and get them reunified.
- 29:25And we said, you know we really would like your your hardest
- 29:28kids. We we want those kids.
- 29:30That's who we want. And they said, well there's this
- 29:33one young girl they you know, I she she's unmanageable.
- 29:36Like that's what they called her was unmanageable.
- 29:41And they said she was hopeless. Those were their quotes about
- 29:45Betty. But they let us meet with her.
- 29:49Betty refused to come on our first meeting, but we went back
- 29:53a second time today. Betty will tell you she she
- 29:57knows now that it was the Lord on why she said yes.
- 30:01But she said at the time she didn't even know why she said
- 30:04yes to coming. But when she came for the 1st 2
- 30:091/2 three months. She would not engage anyone.
- 30:13She was cold. She was hardened, you know, when
- 30:17she came, this was a quote actually from the orphanage
- 30:21director to us, She said you are her only hope and without
- 30:26attempting reunification and helping her, Betty will either
- 30:30end up on the streets or dead. That that was a quote from the.
- 30:35The director But anyway, Betty had really quit doing school in
- 30:38fifth grade because she just had a super hard time at school.
- 30:42She she never could go. But as she was at the House of
- 30:47Hope and I mean we have an amazing caregiving team and she
- 30:51refused to do counseling for three months, finally agreed to
- 30:54do counseling. Our counselor starts every
- 30:58session with prayer, of course, but sings hymns like in praise
- 31:02songs before the session. And slowly, Betty then said, you
- 31:06know, I'll take part in the daily Bible study.
- 31:09And we just started to see the Lord work on her life in like a
- 31:14huge way. We found out that the reason she
- 31:18hated school and why she couldn't go to school when she
- 31:20was at the orphanage was because she was actually at school when
- 31:24she heard that her mother had died.
- 31:27So every time the orphanage would make her go, she would sit
- 31:31there and relive that moment of losing her mom.
- 31:34And so as we were able to work with her, I mean, we just
- 31:38watched this young woman, who now is 17 years old, blossom
- 31:43into this young woman that God always saw her to be.
- 31:47And we did. Unfortunately, we're not able to
- 31:50look at reunification with her family for her.
- 31:54But this week. She is moving out down the
- 31:58street from the House of Hope. She's going to a vocational
- 32:02training program. She's finishing her education at
- 32:05night. And when we're done with this,
- 32:09Jamie, I have to send you just her photo.
- 32:11I mean, you just see it and her eyes.
- 32:13She has become the mentor for each of the girls in the home.
- 32:17And when we have a New Girl enter, she's the one that sits
- 32:21down with that girl and shares her story.
- 32:24And how she didn't want to be there, And how God totally
- 32:27transformed her. And they all now refer to her as
- 32:30like the fifth special mother, because she's just like this
- 32:35mother now to the girls. And I share it to say.
- 32:38You know, it's great. We can do global work, but it
- 32:41always comes back to the one and get.
- 32:43And even the reunification isn't possible for her.
- 32:46It's always about what does God's plan, what is that plan
- 32:50God has for her? We maybe we're thinking
- 32:52reunification. No, she's going to transition to
- 32:55independence, but she's fully filled and restored and that is
- 32:59what this work is about. Totally.
- 33:02That's the beauty of it all God's transformative power with
- 33:06our hearts and. Oh, my gosh.
- 33:09And her being a living testimony to those others so they can
- 33:14relate with her and she could relate to them.
- 33:17Just a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing
- 33:20that. I love that.
- 33:21OK. I love ending with a take away.
- 33:25Maybe the listener here is just. Enjoying and taking those all
- 33:31in, I'm sure, and just going Oh my goodness, how do I get
- 33:34involved? What if, you know it seems scary
- 33:37to them? What do you think you would like
- 33:40to say in an encouragement for them to ponder on or take action
- 33:44in? Well, a few things and whether
- 33:48with us, with another ministry that's serving orphans like you
- 33:53kind of opened and shared, it is a calling to.
- 33:56Help the orphan and the widow in their distress and whether
- 34:00that's down your street or if that's around the world, I think
- 34:04it's it could be even looking at families in your community that
- 34:08have adopted, reaching out and seeing, is there respite that
- 34:12you could give that family? Are there ways that you could be
- 34:15supporting them? We have different ways families
- 34:19can get involved. So we definitely have a prayer
- 34:22team that we just love so much because they're constantly.
- 34:26Uplifting the work that we're doing and the needs that we have
- 34:30in prayer. There's also we have a great
- 34:34program that we call Cycle Breakers and for $24.00 a month.
- 34:39And you can choose what region of the world or you could say
- 34:43global, but it's a very personalized update on how you
- 34:48can be a part of breaking those cycles for Betty and for the
- 34:52young girl that you saw last month when we had the event.
- 34:55But really bringing families into the work, the cycle
- 35:00Breakers, we have a sponsorship program for one to one
- 35:03sponsorship families to get involved with.
- 35:06We do also have a international adoption program the families
- 35:10were feeling called to adopt. There's children that are
- 35:14waiting all around the world for a forever family.
- 35:17Today we see a lot of those kids are over the age of five and in
- 35:22large sibling groups. So it definitely takes.
- 35:26A certain family that really is called to that, to do step into
- 35:30that, but so many ways to just be a part of the work and make a
- 35:35difference in the life of a child.
- 35:38So great. Well, thanks Helen, for coming
- 35:40on here. You are amazing and your whole
- 35:44organization is just absolutely wonderful.
- 35:48I love everything you guys are doing.
- 35:50So thank you for coming on here and sharing.
- 35:54Thank you so much for listening today, and I trust that God has
- 35:58encouraged you through this story.
