- 0:01Speaker 1: Jerry, Katy and Josh six one hundred.
- 0:04Speaker 2: We did our called it the Cowboy road Trip.
- 0:07Speaker 3: This summer.
- 0:09Speaker 4: We hit the road, put about two thousand miles on
- 0:11Speaker 4: the old family suv.
- 0:14Speaker 3: We started out.
- 0:15Speaker 4: We went up and spent a few days over the
- 0:18Speaker 4: fourth in Cody, Wyoming. From there, we zipped across and
- 0:24Speaker 4: stayed in West Yellowstone, Montana, went up to Gardener, Montana,
- 0:30Speaker 4: back into West Yellowstone, down to Victor, Idaho, into Cheyenne.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Wyoming, and then back home.
- 0:37Speaker 4: So we kind of just did this giant loop, yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 4: and was out in the wild wild West, and we
- 0:45Speaker 4: had a really good time. I like going to these
- 0:47Speaker 4: like little off the beaten path towns and just seeing
- 0:50Speaker 4: how life is there.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I've never been to Idaho. Idaho is beautiful.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:55Speaker 4: First of all, thank you very much, Cody. I could
- 0:58Speaker 4: see myself living in Cody. There was a great time there.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Yellowstone was fine.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It was probably very it was fine.
- 1:11Speaker 4: My thing this summer is I was like, let's go
- 1:14Speaker 4: somewhere where we're.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Not in a big city.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I don't want to be around a bunch of people.
- 1:20Speaker 4: I just want to be out secluded, somewhere out in
- 1:23Speaker 4: beautiful nature. Well, I forgot it was America's two hundred
- 1:28Speaker 4: and fifty to say and not to mention. I mean,
- 1:32Speaker 4: I think it made it ten times worse. But the
- 1:35Speaker 4: Yellowstone area.
- 1:37Speaker 2: What a cluster that is.
- 1:39Speaker 4: I mean, you got to get into the park at
- 1:42Speaker 4: the butt crack of dawn to try to see anything
- 1:44Speaker 4: because by eleven o'clock or so packed. I mean that
- 1:49Speaker 4: you cannot get into any of the sites because there
- 1:52Speaker 4: is so many people and so much traffic. It was
- 1:57Speaker 4: like that for the Grand Tetons as well, because we
- 1:58Speaker 4: went to the Grand Teton National and I mean thousands
- 2:03Speaker 4: of people thousands, we one day found one secluded spot.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I was like, I gotta find somewhere where we can
- 2:11Speaker 4: just sit and enjoy some of this quiet, the quiet.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And we were out on like a stream, this boardwalk
- 2:17Speaker 4: that went out onto the stream, picturesque quiet, and I
- 2:23Speaker 4: kid you not. Within four minutes you hear behind us
- 2:27Speaker 4: another family come, you know, trapesing down and sat down
- 2:30Speaker 4: like next to us.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I was like, are you kidding me?
- 2:33Speaker 4: And we laughed because Yellowstone in that area is such beautiful.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Pristine scenery.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Okay, it's a beautiful part of the country, but you're
- 2:42Speaker 4: sitting there trying to enjoy all this and you hear like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:50Speaker 4: all this traffic, and there's a kid over here screaming
- 2:53Speaker 4: his brains out as you're trying to hear, like a
- 2:55Speaker 4: ranger tell you what's going on, and people talking.
- 2:59Speaker 2: It's like, oh my god, this was a bad idea.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I'm sure you were regretting at least the
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yellowstone Stop.
- 3:07Speaker 4: There was you guys, there was so much noise and
- 3:09Speaker 4: so many people that it really does take away from
- 3:12Speaker 4: the beauty of this National park. It really really does.
- 3:17Speaker 4: What else did we do, Katie? So many waterfalls.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You showed me some videos of the waterfalls you saw,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and I'm jealous.
- 3:26Speaker 2: A lot of really big waterfalls too. So much good food,
- 3:30Speaker 2: really good food. I'm jealous of that too.
- 3:32Speaker 3: The parade for the.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Fourth in Cody, Wyoming was like literally four hours long.
- 3:40Speaker 4: So Cody is like a very patriotic town and I
- 3:44Speaker 4: guess it's like one of the main spots to go
- 3:47Speaker 4: for Fourth of July parades and in the West, they're
- 3:50Speaker 4: like kind of known for their parades. Like to kick
- 3:52Speaker 4: things off, they had a helicopter like flying low to
- 3:56Speaker 4: kick off the parade. That was the first thing. So
- 3:59Speaker 4: he's you know, as he's going down the street and
- 4:01Speaker 4: you're looking up.
- 4:02Speaker 2: At him like, oh my god.
- 4:04Speaker 4: And uh like small town but yet bombastic. Like they
- 4:09Speaker 4: had a they had a part where it was all
- 4:11Speaker 4: the John Deere tractors and it just kept going and going.
- 4:14Speaker 4: They probably had like three hundred John Deer tractors in
- 4:17Speaker 4: the parade.
- 4:18Speaker 3: It was so many.
- 4:19Speaker 4: And I'm not even exaggerating. It was insane, absolutely insane.
- 4:23Speaker 4: As Josh would say, that's cool, but yeah, it was.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Just a good time.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I bought a new Cowboy hat.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I felt very rugged in that. Was that the one
- 4:32Speaker 3: that you sent the picture of us? Like, was that
- 4:34Speaker 3: the new one you were rocket? Yeah? That looks good.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You look good in that hat.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I really feah it does.
- 4:40Speaker 4: But yeah, two thousand miles and it's a it's a
- 4:43Speaker 4: part of the country too where there is essentially no cell.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Phone signal in a lot of it.
- 4:49Speaker 4: And there were many times when we were out in
- 4:52Speaker 4: the middle of nowhere, like the only car on the
- 4:56Speaker 4: road for like an hour or two, and the maps
- 5:01Speaker 4: on my phone kept going in and out because it
- 5:03Speaker 4: kept having to go into SOS mode because there's no signal.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Uh, huh.
- 5:06Speaker 4: And I started freaking out a little bit because I
- 5:09Speaker 4: generally like throw in an atlas or a map or something,
- 5:13Speaker 4: and I didn't. And I'm thinking, we are out in
- 5:16Speaker 4: the middle of nowhere, and if my map truly goes down,
- 5:19Speaker 4: i am I'm lost. I have no idea where we
- 5:22Speaker 4: are or if we have car issues anything like that.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I'm like, we are so screwed.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And you're the adult.
- 5:27Speaker 2: You're in charge.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I know.
- 5:31Speaker 2: My dad was here.
- 5:31Speaker 4: I started calculating, like how much water do we have?
- 5:34Speaker 4: How many snacks? Like how long can we just hang
- 5:36Speaker 4: before somebody rolls up on us? Maybe stops nothing's happened.
- 5:40Speaker 2: You just keep thinking a head yeah, yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 3: So are you like that?
- 5:43Speaker 2: When it comes to road trips, to you have a map?
- 5:45Speaker 1: I usually grab a physical map, but it's because I've
- 5:49Speaker 1: had I mean, I moved to Colorado from North Dakota
- 5:51Speaker 1: when I turned eighteen, so I've made so many trips
- 5:54Speaker 1: back home way before the days.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Of GPS, yeah all that stuff.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So I've had to get physical map apps from gas
- 6:01Speaker 1: stations and make my way through Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming
- 6:06Speaker 1: a lot of the time. So yeah, I I'd like
- 6:09Speaker 1: to also have the physical hard copy of the map.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Just in case. See, Katie, I'm too young to where
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'd be like, where's the little blue dots?
- 6:16Speaker 3: Why is it? Where am I?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, I'm pretty sure, Josh, you would have problems
- 6:21Speaker 1: just a physical map. And that's baby not not could
- 6:24Speaker 1: make her way.
- 6:25Speaker 2: She could barely get through the metro area with a
- 6:30Speaker 2: great dressers like mom, not a bolder Sure. I love
- 6:38Speaker 2: the question off the air in regards.
- 6:40Speaker 4: To me being up in Cody, Wyoming for the Fourth
- 6:44Speaker 4: of July parade, Katie's like, did they kill candy?
- 6:46Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because we don't get to do that.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 1: The place where I went to see the parade up
- 6:52Speaker 1: in New York as well as just a small little
- 6:54Speaker 1: old town up in upstate New York, they had a
- 6:56Speaker 1: parade and they were throwing candy off of their like
- 7:01Speaker 1: I mean with the scoops you would see in the
- 7:03Speaker 1: candy store when they're filling bags. They had those, and
- 7:05Speaker 1: they were throwing them out into the streets. Not. This
- 7:08Speaker 1: is the problem. Was there's only like two hundred people
- 7:10Speaker 1: in this town, and a good seventy five percent of
- 7:12Speaker 1: them are like eighty, So none of these people were
- 7:14Speaker 1: picking up the candy.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So then you just saw the streets lined with cany
- 7:18Speaker 2: and it.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Was the good stuff we talk of, chocolate, the fruity
- 7:21Speaker 1: tutsie rolls, all those things. So then you have me
- 7:24Speaker 1: going up and down the street by pockets were so
- 7:27Speaker 1: full of candy, and everyone was laughing at me because
- 7:30Speaker 1: I was like pushing children out of the way, like
- 7:32Speaker 1: that's my about our cup. But yeah, it just it
- 7:36Speaker 1: made me really nostalgic from the parades that grew up with.
- 7:38Speaker 3: There's not a lot of that here.
- 7:39Speaker 1: He don't throw candy in our parade liability, And I
- 7:42Speaker 1: get it, we don't want to hurt somebody. But I
- 7:44Speaker 1: remember the year they were trying to throw marshmallows and
- 7:47Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, this is not it, this is
- 7:49Speaker 1: not There was.
- 7:51Speaker 2: A lot of candy in the the announcers.
- 7:53Speaker 4: We were set up kind of right by the announcers,
- 7:54Speaker 4: and they were very concerned if there's a white line
- 7:56Speaker 4: on the street and you couldn't cross the white line
- 7:59Speaker 4: to get the candy. And the whole time this this
- 8:02Speaker 4: Karen is on the mic, don't.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Cry for the white line, for the white line.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Like in her defense, though there was a ton of
- 8:10Speaker 4: horses in the parade, and I don't think she just
- 8:12Speaker 4: wanted the small children to get trampled.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there is that.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all part of growing up safety. She also
- 8:17Speaker 1: got a microphone and got some power.
- 8:22Speaker 4: At one point, I looked at Nicol's like, my god, relax,
- 8:27Speaker 4: you're ruining this. All right, guys, We're gonna play a
- 8:30Speaker 4: little Olivia Dean for you. We'll be back in about two
- 8:33Speaker 4: minutes and forty seconds. We're gonna read this email that
- 8:36Speaker 4: came in over the past week.
- 8:39Speaker 3: It wasn't even an email.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It came in on our Instagram from Polly.
- 8:43Speaker 4: And the email has to do with hitting it well,
- 8:48Speaker 4: Jeremy hitting it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: What are we hitting well?
- 8:51Speaker 4: She find out about two minutes and forty seconds hitting
- 8:55Speaker 4: it
